Hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine was pretty good. Yesterday I spent most of the day de-cluttering. One room down...a whole house to go! I'm the quintessential packrat. I hate parting with anything that I might find useful at some point in the future. Consequently, I have waaay too much stuff taking up space in my house. I wonder if there's a connection between a cluttered house and a cluttered brain??? :?: It's filled with a lot of useless information that I might use one day, too! :lol3:
Food-wise, I didn't do so hot this weekend. The red tide came in and when that happens, I NEED chocolate...not wimpy sugarfree stuff, but the real thing. :o
But today, it's back on track. I posted my menu in the Phighting Phatties thread.
Hope you all have a great day on the Beach!

Good morning, Mamacita. My weekend was stressful as the last few weekends. I was convinced that hurricane Ivan was go to blow Tampa Bay off the map. My DH spent 9 hours in line for plywood, then when he came home he was not in a very good mood. At any rate I have been staying OP, but I'm not losing. I'm also not drinking water or exercising one minute, so I guess I need to get up off my butt and start moving. The weather here in Florida is so hot it is unbearable and I guess that's the excuse I use. I do need some motivation.

Good morning, Mamacita, and Chickies to come.
It's rather chilly this morning but The Girls and I sat outside for coffee anyhow. It's the last time for the three of us for a while as Lucy goes to Morna's this morning to get used to living there before she gets into the heavy duty stuff of birthing and feeding her pups. I felt very sad as I washed her bowl and put it away after breakfast. :( I won't go to see her until she starts into labour and will certainly miss my "little puppy". I'm such a sap for those dogs! Hersh will get double affection for a while.
Aside from the chicken wing deviation on Saturday, food control was very good over the weekend. However, my weight is still stuck and it's nearly halfway through September! I know I am not drinking my water so will concentrate on that this week.
The "Miss Allyn" show went very well yesterday, the best of the three done so far. The Mill was SRO which was great. The "lads" raised the dam two feet in the morning which certainly toned down the roar of the water so we were able to move back to the Mill as originally planned.
Nothing planned today except delivering Lucy to Morna, maybe taking Hersh and my knee for a walk and puttering around the garden starting the fall clean up.
What's happening at your house? Come and chat. :cofdate:

Hi Chris! we were posting at the same time.
I can imagine your weekends have been stressful. I cannot imagine how awful it must be to keep getting buffetted by those damned hurricanes. Your poor DH! Staying OP is freat - you did mean ON, didn't you? Even if you can't exercise, do try to gt your water in.
09-13-2004, 08:47 AM
Good Morning All,
Mamacita - decluttering is a life long goal of mine! What has helped me allot is before I purchase any thing I ask if I have room for it. The answer is no. Which is an indication of how much stuff I have, because there are two of us living in a 3 bedroom house with a garage and basement.
Chris - glad you were spared Ivan! I cna not imagin what you are going through.
Ruth - Glad the play went well.
My weekend exercise went well but food wise off plan. I spent the weekend at my MIL and jsut say there was nothing OP in the house.

Morning chicks this is my first monday morning kid free. YEAH. I am sorry that I have not been around much but I rarely have time for anything these days. I am off here in about 2 minutes to take my friend to her Dr app. and to pick up some birthday cards and then I am going to try to get home and enjoy a few minutes of quiet time till the afterschool kids come home. I will try to get in then and chat some more. Have a great day.

It's a beautiful morning, and I took my tea outside on the patio. I'll have my coffee and breakfast later, because I have my monthly weigh-in and measuring at 8:30 at Curves and I don't want to eat before it. I had French Toast (but made with WW bread and sugarfree syrup) yesterday for breakfast, and now I'm up 1/2 lb! I don't understand why, because I spent several hours planting Mums and cleaning out the flower beds yesterday, and it sure felt like Strenuous Exercise! And I was very good the rest of the day staying Op. I just don't understand how this body of mine works!
Today looks like it will be pretty busy. After Curves, I have an appt. with the hairdresser for a trim, and I already have a load of laundry started. I plan on cleaning the house when I get home, too. Talapia with peppers and tomatoes is on the menu for tonight.
Ruth, I hope all goes well with Lucy. How long do you expect her to be away? Will she be coming back with all her puppies?
Mamacita, have fun sorting through your things. It seems I can have something for years without using it, but the minute I throw it away, I could use it again! If you plan to have chocolate today, eat a little for me, I've been craving it too!
Chris, I sure hope Ivan misses you! This morning it was reported heading further West and expected to start down-grading to a tropical storm.
Agood morning to everyone else yet to check in! Bye for now--
09-13-2004, 09:03 AM
Hi all, It's a beautiful, sunny, fresh day here. Great for garden work, so I'll head out there soon.
Mamacita, I hear you about needing to get clutter under control. I'm just a small pack rat, but dd is incorrigible, making 'nests' of her things wherever she stops for a few minutes.
Ruth, glad your play went well. Hope everything goes well with Lucy.
I guess Monday is a big weigh-in day? Hope everybody gets the number they need.
Stayed on plan yesterday, but made 'Nuclear Cheesecake' for dessert and it didn't sit well.
Best wishes for a great on plan day for everybody.

HI! I tried a new (to me at least!) sugar free chocolate last night that was actually GOOD!! Z Carb is the name. I can vouch for the dark chocolate; it is WONDERFUL!!! Apparently it also comes with nuts or in Milk Chocolate, but I haven't tried those. It is still high in fat, so it would have to be a rare treat, but it is GOOD!!!
09-13-2004, 10:04 AM
good morning beach chickies!!
the weekend was great! for the first time in several months i did not gain on a weekend so i am very happy about that! i ate totally op all weekend! i exercised, i feel good!! i am really prepared for the week i spent some extra time yesterday preparing for my lunches and snacks for the week so i don't wimp out at 6am when i am too tired to decide what i want for lunch. i also woke up early this morning and did my new band routine along with some crunches and stretching exercises and most importantly ate a good breakfast which is my one real change for this week. the scale was down this morning but i don't want to believe it yet i will take an official weigh in on saturday since that is the day i started (for real this time). not much time this morning for individual posts so a group hug to all of you and have a great day!!! will check back later.
09-13-2004, 10:09 AM
Good morning all! Well, the weekend went well -- I stayed OP and whie I didn't get any formal exercise I sure was active. Yesterday I stripped all of the wallpaper in my dining room and primed the walls for painting which was a HUGE job. DH was working, so ! did it all myself! I felt very accomplished. :)
Tomorrow is weigh-in for me, so i will be anxious to see how my first week turned out. I have peeked so I am pretty sure it looks good!:)
09-13-2004, 10:45 AM
Mama, I understand the "red tide" problem over the weekend. I didn't eat 1 thing OP all weekend long. Back on Ph1 today. I'm so ashamed that I'm just going to leave my current weight where it's at and work back down to it. I'm an off-plan eating cow. :moo:
Been having a hard time sleeping lately. Was waking up around 3 for a few nights, but last night, I woke up on the 30's, starting at 3:30, all the way until 8:30 when I just got up. Every freaking hour. I don't know what my problem is. I'm exhausted. I fell right back to sleep every time I checked the clock....one time I used the restroom, another time I got a drink of water....I just don't know what my deal is.
Long day at work today. Ugh. A 2-jobber. May be putting in my notice at Job #2 sooner than I planned on. My mom's PartyLite show has earned me over $200 so far. That's 1 show. That's also more than I make in a month at Job #2.
Well, better start getting ready for work. Haven't had breakfast yet (not even hungry at all, even) or packed a lunch or showered or anything. I just want to go back to sleep. :tired: This will be my permanent face.
Have a good day everybody.

Morning, gals. I've been keeping an eye on Ivan all weekend but I haven't called my sister in Tampa yet. So far it is still a dangerous category 5 hurricane but it looks like most of Florida will be okay. It depends on when it changes direction though. We never had this many hurricanes when I was a kid.
I ate good all weekend but am still at 168. I think I don't drink enough water on the weekend. I'm out of dark chocolate now and I plan to wait awhile before I buy any more. It is just too tempting to eat it too often so I'd rather not keep it around.
09-13-2004, 11:28 AM
Hey Chickies! Back on the beach! Gotta get back to 3 meals a day now! I'm pumped up and ready to get these last 30 lbs off! I'm bad about skipping breakfast. I'm gonna fry the whole pack of turkey bacon so all I have to do is heat and eat in the mornings. I had a very busy summer. DH saw a house he liked for sale and so we wound up buying it and have been working on it with paint and such. We are all moved in now and close on our old house Fri. Bought the new one before we sold our old one. But this one will keep me busy lot's a lot's a lot's a trees! haha Probably about 30 or so! Lot's of little flower gardens and rock pathways. Oh it is so different than our other house which was brand new and had no trees! Nice back deck to drink my morning coffee on. I was always envious of you chicks drinkin your coffee outside. I had a nice patio over there but no shade and the sun came up on that side of the house! It is .6 miles from our old house! Big move! An older couple lived here and so it just needs a little TLC! Well I have rambled enough for my first day back! Oh it feels great to be back on the beach full swing!
09-13-2004, 11:33 AM
Good Morning Ladies!
Mamacita: I apparently collect clutter too  I just can't seem be able to let go of things....I'm working on it though!
chris40: I hear ya about those darn hurricanes...I may not be in Florida...but up here in VA we've been having a time with them as well...they are horrible and destroy everything...although Florida has gotten more damage....but we're getting there as well...they're calling for more rain this week and I think if we get any more we'll have a swamp outside our house
Ruthxxx: So sorry about Lucy having to leave for a little while...but just think...you'll be playing with her and the puppies in no time! :)
Cac and Little Chick: Hello!! I hope you two have a wonderful day today! :)
cottagebythesea: French toast sounds yummy! Do you like Curves? I've heard mixed feelings about that place.
Heidi, dentrassi, GoldieFun: Hello ladies, how are you doing today?
I hope you have a wonderful day!
Weezle-: Don't worry...you'll be back on the wagon and losing in no time! About the sleeping thing...that's happened to me a few times...are you stressing out about anything? that may be causing it.
Barb:I think your sister will be fine....I think Mobile, Alabama might get hit pretty bad by the looks of it...(i've got friends there and am worried) I hope you have a wonderful day and drink plenty of water!
To everyone else yet to come, Have a wonderful day!!!
me: well not much is going on...just in the office answering phones....washing clothes and who knows what else
09-13-2004, 11:50 AM
Morning ladies. :coffee: Not much time today, have to head down to the other office for some meetings. Then it's off to the Keuka Maid (boat) for a multi-chamber mixer.
Small trials this morning with TOM back in business. Made SB brownies last night that took care of cravings.
However......I fit into my size 12 business suit this morning! WOO HOO! A little snug in the thighs, but otherwise it fits nicely. Thank goodness because I can't stand to wear my size 14 biz clothes to events. I just feel better in my 12's!
Anyway, I'm off to Hornell. Hello to everyone and I'll talk to you soon!
09-13-2004, 12:38 PM
Weighed in last night 165!!! Yahoo!
Bamiegurl- Like your signature
We have many friends down on the gulf coast. Some may be visiting us up here in NE Arkansas soon if Ivan keeps heading that way.
Glad for those in FL that it looks like it will miss you. FL sure has had it hard this hurricane season.
Didn't stay on OP yesterday. Slipped in a cupcake at my daughter's birthday. Back on OP full swing today.
Day 8 of Phase 1. I'm going to do this!!!
Bought more phase 1 munchies at the grocery so that will make it easier for me to resist my DH and DD's carbs & fruit that are staring at me.
Have to go change my stats!! :)
Morning to all. Wish I had a deck to go out and drink coffee on, let alone a nice little garden. I'm in farm land over here. Can't spend much time outside right now since it is Cotton season and they are crop dusting aaaaaall around us. Hmmmm defoliant in the morning what a smell. LOL
keep up the good work chickies!!
We can do it!!!
09-13-2004, 01:43 PM
Good morning everyone. Hope everyone had a super, OP weekend.
Mama - Packrat - me, too. We have a house where the second story is built into the roof of the house, so we have crawl spaces upstairs. A couple of years ago, I decided to empty the crawl spaces and inventory everything, as well as re-pack the 'stuff' into those plastic storaga tubs. There are over 200 plastice storage tubs in the walls of the house. But, you know, some day, I might need them.
Chris - Sorry to hear that the weather is not very agreeable in Florida. We have been watching the weather forecasts, and hoping that you are not hit too hard. I have a friend whose son is coming to visit from Florida, but he has delayed his trip twice because he doesn't want to be away if the hurricane hits. Hopefully everything will be OK for all.
Ruth - You are going to miss the little Lucy. Poor thing...she won't understand why she has been left, either, especially if you are not visiting until labour starts. That's almost 2 weeks away, isn't it. Good to hear that your show was a success. Sounds like a lot of fun for you.
cac - Don't worry about being off program from the weekend. At least you were able to keep up the exercise and you can always get right back OP today. No worries. Have a good week.
lc - Enjoy your kid free day. Sounds like it will be just about as busy as having the kids around. But, you can fit in some quiet time anyway, so that will be good. How did the dance class go on Saturday?
Heidi - Have fun in the garden. We need to start to get serious about the garden clean-up. We have so much to do, but I guess it will get done in its own time. Good luck on staying OP this week. You can do it.
cottage - I know what you mean about the weight gain. I do exactly the same thing...the minute I add starch or fruit to my diet, I gain. Even if I eat completely OP, it seems that I gain anyway. However, I have been kicking up my exercise and the past week, it seems to finally be paying off...perhaps, I just needed that extra time to adjust to the routine before my body decided that it could give up the weight. It is sooo frustrating at the time, but just be patient and hang in there.
Jodi - I knew you could do it. WTG. Congrats for staying OP all weekend. It is so rewarding to see the scale moving down as well. I know that it sometimes seems so hard to stay OP when you have all the temptations around, but it is so worth it when you are continuing to lose. Have a great OP week.
Lauren - Great job staying OP. AND, don't kid yourself, the wallpaper stripping, etc. was definitely exercise. I think that we have a skewed sense of what exercise really is. If we don't book time to go to the gym, then we think we haven't exercised at all. Remember our parents and grandparents...they didn't have gym memberships, or take time to do formal exercising, but maintained their weight and health by working hard at normal everyday chores. To me, if I clean my house, I am engaging in exercise...it's darn hard work.
Weezle - Hope the sleeping problem improves. I woke up last night at 11:30, then finally went to sleep around 4:30, just in time to get up at 5:30. I just hate doing that because I drag for the rest of the day, then I am ready for bed at 6:00 pm. ;)
Barb - Congrats for staying OP. Just be patient with the weight, is will start to come off again. You are better than I am with the chocolate. It doesn't matter if it is dark, milk, white - whatever - I can't stop eating it until it is all gone. I bought chocolates on sale after Christmas and put them in the freezer, but I had to put them on the bottom and pile stuff on top, so that I don't get tempted. I even eat them when they are frozen, but have refrained so far. I notice, though, that there are a few boxes missing - methinks that DS's girlfriend is scoffing some even though she is convinced that she is eating much more healthy than I am eating. :D I guess she can try to fool me, but she will need to face the honest truth one day and that truth is in her weight gain. However, I am not credible enough to her to be believed, so I just keep the ole mouth shut.
Bamiegurl - Congrats on the weight loss. Such a great feeling to be on the last 30 pounds. You can do it, just keep focused on the goal. Sounds like the new house is great. If an older couple owned it, it will have such character. Sounds like they have put a lot of themselves into the yard. Have fun making it your own.
Historychick - I didn't get a chance to congratulate you on your new job. When do you start? Hope everything is going well for you. Take care.
AdiaFaith - WTG. It's always nice when you can get into a smaller size. Just wait until the size 10 is waaaaaay tooooooo BIG. It will be soon and you can do it. Keep it up.
Me - The weekend was really busy for me...DH and I are trying to empty our garage. :dizzy: Within the last 2 years we have moved both sets of parents into homes, two of our children have moved home and our house is full to the brim. We haven't parked a car in the garage for years. That is on top of a storage unit that we rent and is packed to the eyeballs. Anyway, we are repacking all the moving boxes at the storage unit to more uniform boxes, so we can stack them higher and compact the 'stuff' there. Then we should be able to get furniture, appliances, etc. out of the garage.
I was on call the weekend, also. Unfortunately, there was a student event on the campus. Only 4 or 5 arrests, and we are still digging outselves out from under the damage this morning. Another break-in at another campus yesterday morning, too, so dealing with that yesterday while I was at a different function. I am glad the Monday has come and things will be more tame. :D
Anyway, I forgot to post the achievement of a mini-goal last week. I can't believe it slipped me right by. I reached a normal BMI range, and am now in the normal weight range for my height and age. WOOHOO!!!
DH and I went to a weekend ceremony at the university here celebrating the merger of 2 universities. DH was on the change team that organized the merger, so was invited to the reception. It was about 2 hours out of town, so we went there after church yesterday. Silly me, I didn't plan to skip lunch to travel, so by the time the tea started, I was ravenous. On top of that, the university that was merged was originally founded by Norwegian (my heritage) immigrants so the dainties at the tea were Norwegian foods. One of the weaknesses that I don't indulge in very often. Consequently, I did have several sweets that I had not planned on having and enjoyed every one of them.
The consequence to that was....I lost another pound. WOOHOO again!!!! I can't believe my good fortune, but I really think that the exercise I am doing is finally reaping great benefits. The weight has really come off this past week. I will stay OP faithfully this coming week, to make sure that my indulgences over the weekend do not destroy the weight loss. Also, the pound that I lost over the weekend is another mini-goal - I have broken the 140 pound mark and am now down into the 130s and counting off the final 10 pounds. I really am hoping that I can get down a significant amount by the middle of October.
Hope everyone has a great week. Stay OP - I know you all can do this - and make sure that you get your exercise in. Take care.
09-13-2004, 01:51 PM
Congratulations, Peggy, on being a normal BMI!! I know it felt so good when I got into an overweight BMI. It will be wonderful when I finally get to a normal BMI. You are doing so well.
09-13-2004, 02:46 PM
Ok so i feel like I am in SIbera!!
I cannot seem to get up early enough to log on and talk to everyone and get out the door. Oh well.
:cheer: Finally in ONEDERLAND! Barely but I am there. I am very excited. And tomorrow I have already made plans with someone else to walk after we drop of our kiddos. So hopefully it will go even further if I move my rear:blush: Sooy I cannot stay and chat. AAlso sorry I have not had time to catch up on everyone but I will try really hard tomorrow.
Good luch everyone. :grouphug:
09-13-2004, 03:35 PM
Well I'm a slowpoke this AM so I'm not even going to try to post to everyone, you are probably making dinner or bedtime plans.............
Did my run this morning and now I"m facing a pile of laundry. I'm not sure how it breeds so rapidly.
You all sound like you are doing good. I'm struggling with Phase 1 boredom but will keep at it. I want these pounds OFF! For good!!!!
Cold and blustery here, talked with my daughter in Dallas, she's got the AC going full blast. I imagine here we will be having a snow within a few weeks. Boohoo.
Everyone! Have a good day! Give yourself a hug!!!
09-13-2004, 04:03 PM
Chris: I think we can breathe a sigh of relief with "Ivan the Terrible" I live in Polk Co. and we got slammed twice. Couldn't even begin to think about another night in a shelter. But we were blessed. We didn't have nearly as much damage as many. We will have to have a new roof, but we don't have any leaks. It is the uncertainty and waiting that gets to you.
Ruthie: Puppies! How exciting. Hersh won't know what to do without her pal.
Ellis: hope things are going well with you.
Can't say that I have been OP very much. I had the Hurricane nibbles. At least that sounds like a good excuse; ::D:
Everyone keep up the good work. Lizziepie

Peggy -- I know you're right! I was all sore and achey yesterday but today I feel great and want to start taping in order to paint! :) Congrats on the "normal weight range" -- I can't remember the last time I was there. Had to be waaaay before I remember caring! Ha!
Skherb -- Onederland! That's fabulous! I can't wait to get there!!! Woo hoo!!
Hurricane folks -- i am glad to hear it sounds like Florida is safe -- that's terrific!
Edie -- I am on day 7 of phase one and I am feeling better and better! I know we can both do it!!!! :)
Aida -- congrats on the size 12 -- I know how it can go with suits -- I don't like to wear them at all, but when you can fit into the ones you like it's much more bearable!
I hope everyone is having a good day! I am looking forward to making some of your great-looking recipes from the forum tonight!!
09-13-2004, 04:26 PM
Wow, that sure was a lot of exclamation points! ha, ha
09-13-2004, 10:31 PM
I'm with RNMom, I get up with the kids and get going for the day and it is evening before I can sit down with my computer. Good to see how everyone's Monday is going
TOM arrived with a vengenance yesterday, lots of cramping and bloating. I managed to drag through the morning as I had a 4 hour commitment at the kids school (in the library) but came home, had some sandwich meat and crawled in to bed for an hour. I'm starting to feel better so hopefully the cramps will be gone tomorrow and maybe the whoosh fairy will even come to visit :-).
See you all tomorrow!
09-13-2004, 10:39 PM
Hi chicks again another quick check in before I hit the sack. My day was busy but I did enjoy being kid free. I actually got to work in my wee little garden for an hour and a half. Boys I am feeling it tonight. Other than that not much going on. I am sure that won't last. Well I must get going.
PS: sweettooth- my dance class went great. My teacher helpers are really quiet but other than that the kids are great. It is great to be back. It is a fun way to get in some exercising. See ya in the am chicks.
