Support Groups - 21 Day Challenge #7

View Full Version : 21 Day Challenge #7

Marti

This challenge is working for some of us and I want to keep it going!! It started in the Support thread, and I noticed that there were fewer and fewer postings! But, since I've brought it over here, we've been having success and I want to keep it going.

Here is how it works. You choose something that you would like to work on and do it for 21 days. (to make it a habit) Such as drinking 80oz. of water, walk a mile, or what ever else may come to mind. You do a count down. But if you miss a day...you start over to day one. And you can start over many times, but if you're constantly starting over.....well then....I would say maybe you should find something else to work on for 21 days.

Also, during the days you're sick and your body just doesn't feel good, we have what we call a "pause". You pause your efforts until you're feeling better and just continue from what day you stopped.

Simple you say.....believe me,,,,it's not as simple as it sounds...there have been times that I just had to start over.

Anyone want to join me??

Ladies please forgive me for not posting sooner. But I did notice that the thread was getting long and so I thought I better start a new one! :)

I have no idea what day I'm on...the same as Rk...so Rosie girl....I'm the same as you,,,,what day are we on??

Keep up the good work girls and I promise I will try to get here more often!!

Day 20!!!
:)
Also I hit the gym yesterday for the 1st time in a LONG time! i'm starting out slow though, I only did 20 minutes and that's all I'm tackling this week. I go after class so that will be mon-thur and we'll just have to see what the weekend brings.

Have a great day!

I'm back to day One. I started 2 days ago and I actually got sabotoged by someone else! I came into work and found that someone had either eaten or thrown away all my healthy breakfast foods and so I had to go hungry, then when lunchtime rolled around I opend the freezer and that Lean Cuisine just looked too small for my breakfastless tummy so I rushed out to grab a healthy bite but by that time I only had time for something quick and I caved and had a Mcdonalds Salad...which may have not been THAT bad if they had any type of dressing I liked aside from Ranch. **sigh** Anyway so I started again today. So far so good.

And I think I'll do an OP challenge next...
No Worries TLS, just start over, I'm sure you'll do better this time 'round

I'm happy to report one more day done.

So if yesterday was day 7, then I guess this makes day 8. Am I correct RK? :D

TLS--First of all, I forgot to welcome you here!! Glad to have you aboard!! The salad sounded fine. I'll have to look at the other challenge thread to see what is your challenge. But if it's staying OP or eating healthy and you had a salad...I would think that you're probably ok and that you can continue where you were.

Scuzin--Is today your final day?? WTG!!!! Keep us informed when you finish!!!

RK--You're doing great and the pounds lost are proving it!! Keep it up!!

Until tomorrow ladies

Oh...well I probably should have mentioned that when I got home I was like "well since the diet for today is already ruined...." and had half a medium pepperoni pizza...

RosieKate

Hey day 8 done! (thanks, Marti) I lose track..
TLS - I have been know to do the same thing!! I say oh well, the day's blown so whatever. Just remember - It's over...no guilt...move on....BTW, those salads at McD's are pretty OP thing to have. Just have to remember to get grilled chicken, and not crispy. My problem with McD's is being in the vicinity of their fries, yum. So I try to just stay away if at all possible

Scuzin - congrats - you are done kiddo! Can't wait to see you back here for the next one!

MArti - good job on your challenge. Now, you know, you have to stay on track so I can keep track of what day I am on, lol!

HAve a great day everyone!

I'm doing an OP challenge, too. Just trying to stay in my WW points for the week...getting used to a new system. So far it's a whole lot easier than the Zone.

Hey TLS and MArti - have a great day - sending out the stay-on -challenge vibes to all

Don't worry I'm not going anywhere!
Day 2 for my OP challenge.
I weighed in today and didn't see any loss to report :(. Oh well. Because Of my little trip I ate very, very badly for about 3 days and then only had 4 really good days, so Even is about all I can expect. Well I better get to the gym while I have motivation. Check in later!

Day THA-REEE! For a while there, I was begining to worry that I'd never make it past a day one. However, I got on the scale expecting to wince at the results of a WEEK LONG binge fest and was SHOCKED to see that I'd STILL somehow managed to lose weight! It was just half a pound, but still! After all that to have a loss is amazing. It means my body is working extra hard to lose and I should probably help it out by feeding it good food and exercizing some. So that's what I decided to do.

Yesterday I started working on getting my water intake back where is should be (I drink at least a gallon a day)

I didn't make it up to what I normally because I hardly drank any yesterday evening. However, I was waking up every 2 hours to go to the bathroom. I wasn't mad about it though because when I first started my diet that happend to me and the next morning I was down 4 lbs! 4 lbs of water weight, sure, but it didn't come back. I was hopeing that when I got on the scale this morning something similar would happen and YES! It did! down 2.4 lbs over night! Woohoo! Water weight again, of course. But I am determined that like those original 4, these won't come back.

Now I am super inspired because now I am only 3.6lbs away from my first major mini-goal. It had been my intent to be there by Sunday a week from now, but I think I may make is sooner. yay!

Scuzin
07-31-2004, 05:44 PM
Congrats TLS :)
I think I'm on day 3 too....last night was a little iffy staying on plan. I had a big white chocolate mocha...but I think I'm ok because I've wanted to up calories a little and I did a lot of extra exercise.

ok, i need a boost, my 21 challenge starts tom. mon. aug 2. it will be to drink a minimum of 80oz of water a day. ive laid out the measuring cup (cause i dont have any plastic bottles) and a special mug on the counter. my dad is a water plant operator so, he taught us kids to like water. i dont mind it and havent drank anything but water since July 21 but, i know im not drinking enough. so off i go.....

No matter how much exercise I do, when I do stretches from pilates...that is when I feel the most!! And I love doing them. I'm hoping to figure out how to hook up my VCR (I'm no good at doing things like that) so I can actually follow a tape rather than trying to do it on my own.

RosieKate--If we're on the same day....you're two days behind!! It should be day 14! I had to go back and figure it out so I believe that is where we are. (but correct me if I'm two day ahead!)

TLS & Scuzin--You two are doing great. Are you all doing an OP challenge??? Maybe that's what I should do for my next challenge.....

TJ--Water challenge is a good challenge!! I've finished that a few times to make it a habit...but this last time I had to switch...just wasn't getting it done.

Great work girls!! I'll check in tomorrow

Well I wasn't OP yesterday. I've been having one heck of a week and I needed some happy time so I rented movies last night and fulfilled a long time craving for chocolate chip cookies. It was an indulgance, not a binge. But It does NOT count as OP.

Hope ya'll are doing well. WELCOME Cristi

staying OP! Yippee!! Okay, now I am needing some good vibes to get me thru the rest of the week. I normally do good for three days and not sure what happens on the fourth.

Thanks Scuzin! Even though I have been in and out on the challenges before. This time I am going to make it! Sorry, about your little indulgence throwing you off plan. I think though every now and then we need to indulge so that we won't end up on a binge. I know you will get back OP. :)

Eh hem....Welcome BACK Cristi! Don't worry, I remeber ya ;)

08-05-2004, 03:13 PM
Okay, I am going ahead and posting that I have day 4 down to keep track of this, even though the day isn't over. I have had two meals already and have dinner planned so there is not way I can not stick to being OP. I also have extra flex points in case I want something later on after dinner which I know I won't. I have not eaten anything after dinner in quite sometime so...if for some reason I go over I will post that I did and start over. But again with having dinner planned and so many flex points there is no way I can. Anyhoo...

Marti~good job girly on having 15 days behind you! :bravo: Keep up the good work.

Susan~thanks again! :) Don't worry about being OP for the weekend, but don't go too far off plan. Just enjoy your weekend and be ready to restart when ya get back.

Hiya MNJ and Scuzin!

I guess by now you know I didn't succeed in my 21 day challenge! Yeah I know I suck.

Anyways I just wanted to pop in really quick to update you on things. I am 38 weeks pregnant. I am due on 8/22 and will be induced on 8/16. I am having a boy.

The pregnancy has been rough, but not high risk. I fell twice and I have a pelvic joint dysfunction which causes me a lot of pain. Any exercise out of the water is not an option. I have been doing physical therapy in the pool a few nights a week and it helps some.

Baby and I are doing fine otherwise. I had an ultrasound last week and he weighed 6lbs 14 ounces. I am so ready to have this baby it's unreal. I don't sleep and I am still working full time.

We are completely ready and have everything we need. Now he just needs to make his big entrance!

I had gained 15lbs but I lost a pound last week. I just made bonus at work and I am going to buy myself a two month gift certificate to curves, that way I don't spend it. Then as soon as doc gives me the ok I will have a good way to jumpstart my program and make time for myself. I fear if I don't do something like this I will get into a rut quickly and too much time will pass. I lost 35lbs last year before I got pregnant and this year my goal is to lose 30 MORE. :)

I probably won't be on much in the next few weeks but I plan on revisiting once I am back on program. I am so sorry I have been such a slacker to you!! I do think of you every time I weigh in which is still every week and every glass of water too!

Take care and big hugs,
Lisa

Ps. Here is our baby's website if you're interested.

Okay, I have good news and I have bad news...

The good news is I actually made it passed the usualy three days...the bad news is I screwed up and fell off the wagon. :( I can't believe I made it this far only to screw up. I am not dwelling on it though-am picking myself up and jumping back on. So starting over with the challenge tomorrow-a new day and the beginning of a new week.

Rosie, Marti & TJ~you ladies are doing an awesome job~ :bravo: keep up the good work.

Lisa~congrat's on the baby! And I hope everything goes well with the delivery. Also, thanks for sharing the site with us, love the name you have picked for your son. Best wishes!

Hello gals!!

Cristi--At least you weren't on day 13 and then had to start over!! I had that happen to me a few challenges ago!! (although...I should have just continued it!! :D ) You'll do great starting Monday!

Lisa--You are so close to the due date!! I hope you can post pictures when you have him! I did take a look at the baby now. :) How neat it is to have ultrasound pictures. Did you video tape your ultrasound? I did with my daughter....saw her first hiccup!! You take care of yourself and the baby and don't worry about coming in....you have so much more on your mind then a challenge!! Just come back when you are ready!!

Tj--Yeah for the water!! You're going strong.

Rk and Scuzin--Hope all is well with you two!!

Today is day 19!! I'm almost finished!! Yeehaw!! :D

I need to keep it going.....the challenge helps me succeed. I'm not sure what it is that I want to do for the next one........give myself a "DAY" to think it over when I'm done with this.

Ok...best get going!!

I've been MIA for a few days, but am on 19, just like MArti. When this challenge is done, I need to take a little break as we are going on vacation. But, I will be back. Still thinking up what the next challenge should be.

21 days completed!!!!!!

So very happy that I finally got through this one!! :D After many times restarting with this....this is a good feeling. I got up this morning feeling all stiff and achey and so I did some pilates and stretches....got myself to feeling better. So I managed 21 days of ANY exercise!! Whoo Hoo!!

RK--This should also be your last day.....Congrats to you!!

Jen--Welcome!!! Your challenge is doable!! In fact I did something very similar to that before! Good luck to you!

Scuzin --Welcome Back!! Staying OP should be my next challlenge...but I may stick with exercise.

Cristi--How are you doing? I'm sure you're doing fine!! I've got confidence in you!!

Lisa--It's getting close to little Gage arriving!! So excited for you!!

Ok...I'm going to take a day (plus it's my interview day tomorrow) and then I will be back. Want to make sure what my next challenge will be.

Marti~CONGRAT'S on making the 21 days! WOOHOO!!! :bravo:

TJ~doing good with the water challenge. Keep up the good work.

Scuzin~sending some good vibes for ya this week. :goodvibes: This is also take 2 for me and I will keep on till I get it down. :)

RK~I think you and Marti were neck in neck with the challenge so possibly a congrat's to you also.

Jen~good job! Wow, I am impressed-200 sit-ups and 85 push-ups! Yikes, I feel the pain. Can't remember the last time I did a sit-up or a push-up. Well, actually the last time I did a push-up was in High School.

Day 3. Well i think at least. It is very very hard to judge if you had a good eating day when you aren't following something with points or what-not. I had a thing of Junior mints last night. But I ate very sensibly for everything else so I think I'm ok. They were a present anyway :P

Good vibes right back at ya Cristi!

WTG 2fusterated!!!!! I could never even attempt the splits...I am hopelessly unflexable.

Good luck to you all!

Hello ladies!!

I have decided to keep doing the exercise challenge. And to top that I will join the challenge thing over on the exercise thread we have here...kind of keep me on track of things. But that won't start until Monday so I'm going to wait until Monday to start this challenge too......

WTG RosieKate! :bravo:

Scuzin~doing good, keep up the good work.

As for me, well...I haven't been keeping track of anything. I mean I haven't gone crazy eating bad, just haven't been counting points and keeping track of anything. I know I haven't gone overboard because I weighed on Wed. to see how I was doing and it showed a loss so I have been doing okay with the eating. But since I haven't been keeping track of anything I can't honestly say I have been OP-does that make sense? So, starting over on Monday with this challenge of staying OP and getting back to keeping track of points and such and then on the other thread an exercise challenge. So that's how it is going with me.

Have a good day ladies!

Scuzin
08-14-2004, 06:03 PM

Hi Scuzin!!

Wanted to let you know that we have started another challenge "the exercise/motivation" challenge and that is where we're at. I plan on doing that and this hand in hand but I haven't been consistant with my days yet so I can't actually start. But I will try soon! So don't think we've just left.

RosieKate is on vacation for this week so she'll be gone.

check out the other thread and see what you think.....maybe even join in over there too.
