Shequila, no, nor have I heard of anyone else experiencing it. Maybe you should see your doctor? It sounds serious...

I had some weird stomach pains, but then I realized they were hunger pains. I cut out all the no no's but didn't add enough of the good veg and beans. I had forgotten what real hunger pains were, it had been a really long time that I had gone with letting myself be even slightly hungry without popping something in my face! That's just a lighter note, but really, I agree with beachgal, get it checked out if it is something that you can't attribute to being hungry......

Well the cramping subsided after a couple of hours. I think I may have eaten something that had sugar alchol in it that I wasnt' aware of. I have experience the same symptoms before after eating 2 bag of sugar-free gummie bears.....I somehow missed the little blurb that warned "eating too much may have a laxative effect" even though I specifically looked for it.

Thanks for your concerns ladies.

Aha! Gut cramps, not stomach. That makes a difference. Watch those nasty Frankenfoods! Send me the leftover gummi-bears, OK?

I had some problems in the begining because I was adding so many raw vegetables and beans. It was a fiber over load, I was afraid to be in a room with people. Never knew what was going to sneak out...

I backed off some, added the raw vegetables a little more slowly ate a few less beans. Hey, 1 can of beans can not be 3 1/2 servings! I don't know who makes up these servings sizes.

Years ago when I was young and stupid, I went on an all fiber diet and not much else. 1/2 a cup with a banana for breakfast, 1/2 cup with some peaches for lunch and another 1/2 cup with another banana for dinner. Everything I ate I coated with bran. Lost a lot of weight but talk about pain! I developed a whole new respect for the intestinal tract.

And yes those sugar alcohols will definately do a number also. Bad stuff. But in away I find that it's great because I know that I can't eat the entire bag of something or the entrie quart of ice cream because of what it will do.

Boy, I'm becoming an old school marm today!

Only 1/2 cup of beans are allowed daily. It's easy to go over...so watch it.

I had stomach cramps during the first phase, as did one of my co-workers. I don't know what it was...I thought at the time that it may have been a touch of flu, or something. They lasted about 3 days, off and on, then went away. Both of us experienced the same thing, but, like I said, I didn't connect it to the diet.

1/2 cup of beans daily? Where did you see that? Was that in one older daily dishes? Not that I'm questioning you, but yes I am, but only because I'm curiuos not to be mean.

Only reason is that I eat more then 1/2 cup when I make bean soups and chile and such because I usually have it for both lunch and dinner. So I usually get about 1 1/2 cups a day on bean-y days. But thats with no meat usually. I go vegetarian occasionally. I'm also several months into phase 2.

According to the GFGC Guide, a half cup of beans is a serving. I think you can have more than one serving a day but do watch the calories. Fiber overload is not pretty either. Sarah, you are probably just fine because going meatless cuts calories.

Woo! that's a relieve. I thought I'd been doing something wrong.
And yes, that fiber over load is definately a killer sometimes.

Sarah, I would think that when you go meatless, those bean would be fine, but be aware that they do have sugar and carbs, so they aren't unlimited...plus we all know what happens when we eat too much of the "musical fruit" Ruth, thanks for being the voice of reason as always.

I'm sending myself to the corner with the dunce hat.

Shequila, did you have sweets? It's been a while since I looked, but the plan used to say no more than 75 calories of sweets per day. If you stay under that number, you should be pretty safe from the sugar alcohols.
