Hello from a newcomer!
I'm so happy. I started South Beach on Monday, July 5th and I've lost 9 lbs. What a great motivator! Now I just have to stay the course, which will be hard for me. I'm good at starting things but not so good at finishing them!
Hello to everyone from San Francisco! ;)

Good for you!!! I know how you feel about not finishing...I was worried about the same thing, but it's been 2.5 months and I'm still happily plodding away and losing! :D
You'll do great!

Skherb -- you have to remember that EVERYONE loses at a different rate. And, if you have a loss that's as big as 9 lbs., it's actually mainly water to start. (Not to take away from sfgirl02's good progress, because that is great!)
The other thing is, too, even if you followed sfgirl02's meal plan exactly (as in, if you ate EXACTLY what she did in the first week), you would still probably not lose the same amount of weight. Again, that's because everyone's body is different.
Some factors that play into it... if you've been doing a lot of dieting before you started SBD, you won't lose as much. On the flip side, if you add five days a week of exercise, you're going to lose WAY more and much faster too.
So it all depends. Either way, though, you should try to eat those veggies. They keep your metabolism up, and sugar levels down. And they keep you fuller.

Skherb, I did eat a lot of veggies, mostly salads. For some of my meals I've been having a grilled salmon salad (with tons of lettuce, cucumbers, and a few tomato slices) or a greek salad (again tons of greens, with olives, feta cheese, tomatos, cucumbers, pepporicini with olive oil dressing).
Also, been drinking a lot of water.....am living in the bathroom! :^:
Beachbun, I have a house rabbit too!
Thanks everyone for the welcome!

Whoops missed one question. Nope, I didn't exercise, except for normal walking (I live in the city and don't drive anywhere, so maybe that counts a little). I may have had more water weight than usual when I first weighed myself on Day 1 (TOM) so that may also account for why it was such a big loss. I know its going to get slower!
But definitely eat the veggies and drink the water!
I have a sweet tooth, too so those little cups of sugar-free jello have saved me!

Way to go sfgirl02! I'm proud of you--I know it takes such discipline to stay on track. You're my inspiration now (as I was seriously considering just one, teensy bite of a candy bar just before I read your post--and one teensy bite for me usually leads to the whole thing, if not two!)
Salad for dinner!!

Yeah! I swear, I must have hung the "House Rabbit lovers join in here!" sign on our forum...we're awash in bunny huggers (which is great! :D)
sfgirl02, do you have a pic of your bunny? I'd love to hear all about him or her! My two are posted here: http://3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?t=43256&page=1 (post 14) They are the light of my life (except for DH and our dog, of course. ;) )
I'm right with you on the eating of veggies. Your salads sound great and so does your attitude!
Exercising during Phase 1 can be really tough for most people because you feel woozy and not so energetic. But adding it in to Phase 2 really helps!

Beachgal, your bunnies are adorable. I have big fat gray bunny who is 11 lbs (I may need to put her on SBD too!)....but she's actually just big boned! :D
Shes getting old, 8 years now. I don't have any pictures on my computer, but I'll try to find one!
Thanks for the welcome!

Yay for Senior bunnies! What is your bun's name? She can officially join the "7up" club of senior bunnies on the Petbunny listserve. :D Bella is 4.5, Denali is 4. Hey, and she's not fat...she's just fluffy. ;)

That kind of weight loss at first is what kept me going. I felt so awful I would have quit. I don't care if it was water, I was living for the scale! After that it has been a pound or two a week.
