Good Morning Walkers,
I was up bright and early wanting to begin JuLy with a "Bang" so to speak  I got in 2.5 miles this morning and then spent the morning
watering my gardens :) Everything is looking so beautiful!

I will be back sometime today to catch up with everyone.
*Have a Wonderful Day!*

To start, welcome any and all walkers. We here at JuLy WaLkErS are a really nice group of ladies who use walking as our magor form of exercise. We only challenge ourselves and support each other. Come on along!

Hi Sunny, It's going to be a great month. I can just tell :D My day of course started off with 2 more baseball games. DD almost earned herself a 12 pk of soda from her coach. At this age level their coach still pitches to them, so she has made a deal with the team that if they get a home run she'll give them a pop, but if they hit her (the pitcher) she'll give them a 12 pk of pop. DD hit a terrific line drive right at her. The coach barely had time to skip out of the way :dizzy: DS is finally get good hits off that  pitching machine. He's a much happier camper :D

Ok, I'm done avoiding my goals for JuLy. Here they are

Hey Gang!

Hope you don't mind our gang on the WATP thread joining ya'll here! I love walking, either with the Leslie Sansone tapes, or outside around our 2 mile block or a walking track or at the mall during lunch - just whenever I can fit it in. Last month my goal was 40 miles, and I walked 44 miles and added some major strength training with Kathy Smith Lift Weights to Lose Weight tapes.

This month my goal is to walk at least 40 miles and do strength training 2 or 3 times a week.

I also wanted to start July off with a bang, so this morning I got up at 5 am and did a 3 mile 45 minute WATP tape with handweights before getting reading for work.

July = 3 miles

next?

Hi *MICHELLE*
I know I don't mind at all... the more the merrier! I tried to change the Thread Title to JuLy WaLkErS just Walking Away The Pounds but I could only change the title above my post :dizzy: Oh well... we'll change the thread title next month.

It is so good to see you! I love your new Avatar!!!! You are as beautiful as I pictured you to be... and then some.

I am feeling so much better, thank you for asking, Michele. Boy, it sure did take me a long time after this last infection to get back into exercise, but I am back ;) :D

And my gardens are so colorful, but for some reason I couldn't get the Morning Glory Seeds to take this year - I think it was just way too wet! Maybe next year will be better --- I will begin the seeds inside earlier in the season. Our weather has been absolutely beautiful the last few weeks! Just loving my morning walks again.

Hi *SHEILA*
So good to see you too!! You are doing wonderful, girl!!! Not bad at all for someone who could not get going... you have outdone me :p  I have to work very hard this month even TRY to catch up now ;)

Thank you so much for your concerns over my Joe ;) The Dr. believes that Joe has Sleep Apnea and that it is causing his fatigue and his spikes of high BP and low body temp. So he will be going for a Sleep Study as soon as the Dr. clears it with our Insurance Co. He also took a blood sample to check his thyroid just in case. But all in all it's pretty good news, the Dr. doesn't think there's a concern for stroke or heart problems... thank the Lord. He is so thin and in such good shape - I just couldn't figure out what could be wrong... but I told the Dr. all I could think of (ie: his snoring at night and gasps for breath, his fatigue, low body temp & spikes in his BP) and I jotted down all his numbers each time I took his BP and it helped the Dr. out allot. My mom told me to do it, she's a retired RN. We both breathed a deep sigh of relief after his appointment, we came home and had lunch together before he left for work again. He was all smiles when he left this afternoon.
You are so sweet to ask... ;)

Hi *KRISTI*
You & your children are doing so well this year! They with their games you with your walking/running (A Big Thumbs up!)

How's the pool coming along?? Swimming in it yet?

Hi *CATHY*
I don't think you know me, but I have seen you around ;) I think it's great that we are joining together! Although... ... I do hope that I will be able to keep up with you gals :o

My goals this month are:

To WaLk 45 MiLes for JuLy &
Go to Curves 3x a week

I am SunnyD aka Donna, 47 years young and am married 29 years (June 21st) to Joe w/ no children (long story :( ). I do not work outside of the home ;) And we have three boys (cats): Domino (8), & brothers- Guido (2) & Zeppe (2) - yes, cats to everyone else ~ but they are our kids. And four fish: Smudge, Mickey, Zoe & Sadie... everyone gets a name  Joe & I sing in a small group at church called *Gift of Song* and we have sung for Weddings & Funerals (too many funerals this year I am afraid). I belong to Curves and go 3x a week I also Walk on my T-Mill or in the park whenever I can. I have lost 22 lbs. so far (note my graph at the bottom of my post) and hope to lose another 38 lbs. before Sept/04. I am trying like the dickens to get it off. The food program I follow is portion control - work off more calories then I take in. My meals are very close to the South Beach Diet in Phase II of the program. I have a picture of me in MY PUBLIC PROFILE in case you would like to see what I look like ;) --- I love pictures, as the others on this thread will tell you

Hi everybody, Michelle it's great to hear from you again...... Sheila, You ended the month with great numbers. You need to applaud yourself more often girl. Terrific job....
Cathy, I think it's awesome you are going to join us here. Sorry about bailing on the food log. It was just too much for to think about. I'm so used to just closing the windows on my food mover. I'm adding strength training this month as well. What are these Kathy Smith tapes you're talking about? I lifted weights when I was in my 20's and have only toyed with them since. I'd love some kind of tape to follow. Please share your knowledge.........Sunny, I'm so sorry to hear your Joe has not been feeling well. It was very smart of you to log all the things you were noticing and monituring his BP. He's very lucky to have someone who loves him so much (I know, you are lucky too!!) I will continue to keep you both in my prayers........well, I started JuLy with a fizzle rather than a sizzle. I have no milage no strength training no nothing to log. I did clean my pool though. DOes waling up and down the ladder a few times count for anything? lol....It's great to see the thread so lively. we are not going out of town for the 4th so, I will be around if anyone else is

Good Morning Walkers :coffee2:
I am sitting here sipping on a cup of coffee and so glad that I dragged myself out of bed this morning and got in my walk - Walked 3.25 Miles this morning. It was an absolutely beautiful sunrise with the pink & orange glow lining the white clouds against the baby blue sky - just beautiful! Not to mention all the bunnies and birds all about. I am glad I got up early and got in my walk - now I am set for the day. It's bill-paying day today (yuck :p )... and this afternoon the roofer guy is coming by to set up a time to have our roof completely done with new shingles, Ice Guard all the way up and a Ridge Vent for better air circulation... it's gonna look good too :^:

Hi *KRISTI*
Yeah... now he has a really bad cold to boot :dizzy:
But I had to turn him over a couple times last night to his side because he wasn't breathing well on his back. He really needs his sleep! Especially now that he isn't feeling well... with his job and all the driving he does it can be worry-some if he is tired. Thanks so much for your concern and compliments of our marriage. We are best friends and always have been --- I have been blessed. Oh we have our moments, but after 29 years they are fewer and far between. The small stuff just doesn't matter anymore ;)

Hey there *MICHELLE*
Here is a picture of my only Pink Peony flower ~ I just got the plant last fall - it will do better next spring.

Good morning girls......Sunny, your walk sounds beautiful. The weather here this morning was perfect for an early morning walk as well. I wish I had gone when you did. This is the first day this week that the children have no ball or anything so I'mm looking forward to a day at home..Phew! It's too bad Joe is having such a hard time with his sleep. I hope you are taking time to rest yourself during the day. It sounds as if your care for him through the night is also taking away from your sleep. Your peonie is beautiful. Mine haven't bloomed yet and I don't know as if they will. I've had 3 large bushes 2 pink 1 white that have been here for 20 yrs or more. I think my DH was tired of mowing around them (they were huge) and the stinker just mowed them off like the first 3 mowings of the season!!!! Now, what is coming up are much smaller bushes.....
Michelle, I see from your stats you have had a great month as well. Keep it up girl.....
For me, it's 4 miles and a strength training for today. I had put down Mon and Wed for my strength, but I'm afraid with the holiday I may be tempted to skip it on Mon. Today I'm doing a six exercise series I found in a prevention magazine aimed at my abs....

Good Morning *KRISTI*
I'm so sorry... ... I didn't see you there :dizzy: -
I was so busy trying to post pictures

My walk this morning was beautiful! I am so glad I went, but boy-o-boy, was it ever a struggle!! I got up; then went back to bed and then got up again  I think my eyes were still closed when I walked out the door!

Yep, I rest... if I get so tired that I cannot stand myself I will take a few minutes in the afternoon to rest on Joe's hammock (on the porch) with my boys ;) Being that I don't work I have that luxury :^:

I hope that you are having a nice morning at home so far? I bet it feels so nice when you have such a busy pace to keep most everyday.
Enjoy!! :goodvibes

Glad you liked the peony... we cut our peony bushes down each fall just before winter hits and each year they bloom without a problem. I have two white with vanes of red through them and the one pink one.

Well, I really must be going and get some work done around here - I have been on the computer all morning... I am delaying the enviable of paying my bill's :dizzy:

Take Care now... hope you get in your 4 miles today.

Hi Everyone,

Mind if I join you on this thread? I am looking for a challenge to keep me motivated in exercising. I have been exercising daily for the last month but can feel myself ready to stop. So maybe the accountability and the support will be a great help to keep me going.

My goal for this month will be to walk 35 miles or to at least exercise 30 mintes a day.

I started on yesteday to keep track of the miles walked. I had a busy day on yesterday and did not get a chance to post. But so far I have walked 2 miles and when I finish typing this I am going walking.

Looking forward to getting to know you all! Have a great day!

Good Morning Gang!

thanks for the warm welcome! and for the introduction SunnyD/Donna. I have seen you and the rest of the gang around the boards, but don't guess we have "officially met" sooooooooooo NICE TO MEET YA GIRLIE! I am also a Christian and I love all of your icons and avatars and sayings! I can especially relate to "turn your test into a testimony and your mess into a message". I look forward to getting to know ya'll better! The pictures of your flowers and your home are beautiful! I love that big pink flower.

Hey lovnmom - so good to see ya again! I'm the only one posting on my weekly food log, but I hate to give it up because it keeps me honest, but I'm thinking about just going with my handwritten daily food log. Will have to see how it goes.

You asked about the Kathy Smith tapes. Well I picked up a set of 2 dvds at Walmart. They were under $20, and called "Kathy Smith Lift Weights to Lose Weights 1 & 2". The first one is 20 minutes of upper body, 20 minutes of lower body and 7 minutes of abs. It moves pretty fast, no resting in between reps, but it is really what I need in order to get in some good strength training in a short period of time - but let me tell you - I find them tough (but doable). I like them! I haven't tried the second dvd yet but I think it's kind of set up the same.

Now onto today's exercise. This morning I got up early and did 47 minutes of strength training with Kathy Smith. (I like my walking better but feel like I need to do this to build (or keep) muscle and help my poor pitiful non existent metabolism.

I have a low thryoid problem and I am STRUGGLING sooooooooooo. When I started posted at 3fatchicks many years ago, I weighed 180 lbs. I have gained 10 lbs a year over the past 3 years, even tho I have continued to eat healthy (1200 calories a day, low carb and only good carbs, no sugar, similar to Sugar Busters or South Beach) and lots of water and exercise. It is so discouraging really! So I am fighting my weight at 205, and not able to lose a pound no matter what I do. I am seeing my doc again on Wednesday so I am hoping to up the dosage of my thryoid med and see if that maybe will help with the weightloss. anyway, that was just a little about my struggles with my weight, but I'm healthy and exercising sooooooooooo.

Hope everybody has a blessed day!

hugs,
cathy

Welcome *BRENDA*

So glad you want to join in - I too find that posting keeps me accountable. And since I am posting now --- it means that I am still avoiding paying my bills

Hi *CATHY*
It's so good to finally meet you! I too look forward to getting to know you better. So glad that all my pictures didn't bother you and that you enjoyed them -all- :dizzy:

I have not heard of the Kathy Smith Tapes, but I have just bought the WATP DvD's... I haven't begun using them yet because I have enjoyed walking outdoors so much these days. I also bought TAE BO on DvD. I want to include them both into my workouts for variety, but haven't yet. Cathy, don't beat yourself up too much, I think you are doing a wonderful job exercising. It is definately much harder to get this wt. off as we age, not to mention your low thyriod! I hope that all goes well when you see your Dr. on Wednesday next week. Something how it just doesn't want to budge :jig: !! I too have been trying so hard and I haven't lost any more weight since 6-11  frustrating, huh. My sister is just now trying the SBD (she lives in Maine) and swims in her new pool for exercise & we have been encouraging one another via e-mails... that has helped me review and renew my eating habits again. And you gals help me stay with my exercise  :)

You Take Care now... be seeing you later.

Good Morning Girls!!!

Sunny I want those flowers in my yard!! Wahhhhhh!!! Can I hire you to make me some beautiful flowerbeds? ;) I can see that you put a lot of hard work into them!! They are gorgeous!!

Kristi Yep I did pretty good this month, I lost 9.5 lbs from May 26th to June 25 and 6 lbs from june 1 to June 30 I'm extremely happy with that and it looks like I'll have a good weigh in come this sunday as well :)

Cathy you keep up the good work girl!! I am going to see if I can persuade my doctor to put me on armour because the synthroid really isn't helping with my fatigue and I can't handle this anymore :( I hate feeling tired all the time and I really want to be out and about doing stuff with my kids but my thyroid is slowing me down alot...ok venting done lol.

Have a great day girls

Good Saturday Morning Gals,
I did not get out this morning for my walk because we are meeting friends very early for breakfast this morning, but I am going to see if my hubby is up for a walk in the park today so I can get in at least 2 miles. I don't walk in the parks alone (too scary) so if he doesn't want to go I'll just take my walk here at home, but I will get in at least two today.

We are looking at another beautiful day today... this weather has been too good to be true lately. I feel as if I have to pinch myself

Yesterday we met with the roofer guy and signed all the paperwork to have it done... looks like we may be scheduled for the 14th of July (depending on the weather). I am anxious to have it done for two reasons... I am hoping that my gardens don't get damaged and my cats are gonna be very unhappy with the noise on the roof :o I look forward to the beauty of it when it's done, but not the anxiety of it being done. I am so glad that my hubby will be home to keep an eye on everything as they work.

*MICHELLE*
I am so tickled :smug: by your reactions to the pictures and my yard - you are so good for the ego ;) We all like to hear that we did a good job, thanks! I also have a Rose of Sharon that is just now in it's budding stage and it's loaded with buds --- that's when we see the humming birds come - they love it. When it comes into bloom I will get a picture of it to post for you --- it's just beautiful!

And I would like to join in and tell you that I am so very impressed with your hard work and weight-loss success in spite of your thyroid problems. I can only imagine how hard it must be for you. I struggle enough and I don't have an unhealthy thyriod, then again I have never been tested either... how did you find out that you had problems?? How did you know to have it checked? I'm just curious, if you don't mind my questions.

Well, I must be going...
I have some e-mails to catch up with this morning with my family.

*God Bless you all and Have a Fun & Safe Weekend!*
:grouphug: Always,
:sunny: SunnyD <><

Wow, This thread is happenin' all of a sudden. Terrific!!..............First, welcome Brenda. This is a great group of gals. We all cheer when you do good and we all offer support when you slip, but challenge we don't. That has to come from you. You have to want it for yourself girl. You've made the first and most important move. You've made the decision to make exercise a priority in your life, you've set obtainable goals, and you've sought a good support group. Your ready girly!!! On your mark, GO!!!
Sunny, Glad to hear you are indeed taking care of yourself as well as Joe. Your flower beds are totally gorgeous. I wish I had the patience. I always plant (I love that part) and then I get way too busy and lose interest. My flowers become another chore I have to do rather than the joy I anticipate when I plant. I almost envy you lol..Enjoy your brkfst out........Cathy, thanks for the info on the tapes. I'm going shopping today maybe I'll check them out. I'm so excited my clothes are big enough that even my DH actually told me to go shopping and get some shorts that fit right. It's not every day a hubby TELLS his wife to go shopping..Good luck at your Dr. apt You inspire me so much. I have no health problems that impeed me and still I stumble on a regular basis. If I actually had healthy issues to battle I'd probably fall on my face and not get up. You really should be proud of all your efforts.......Michelle, you are doing great as always. Have a great weekend.......Lynne, miss you lady......Sheila, hope you're having a great weekend.....
As for me today. We have no plans. Dh may take the 3 younger children to see Spiderman 2 while me an #1 daughter go shopping. She needs a new swim suit and a new pair of jeans before she heads off to camp on the 11th. She and I went to play tennis yesterday and I have to share a moment we had with you all. My soon to be 11 yr old daughter is 4' 11" and weighs 123#. She has long slender legs, a beautiful face, a terrific personality, and a few chubs around the middle. Alas, this small problem really bothers her. Last week her Dr told her not to worry in this past year she had moved up 3 lines on the height end of the growth chart, but only moved up one line on the weight end. She told her she was right on track growing into a healthy young woman. Back to my story, we were exercising have a good time playing tennis when she stopped and said, "I don't want to have to waite until I'm 15 to not look fat." She was angry and sad all at the same time. My heart broke for her. I remember being her age and feeling so insecure about my weight and everything. ( you know, the dreaded time out at the pool and you have your arms wrapped around your belly while everyone else is laughing with friends? gym class etc.. )Anyway, we had been like friends all day and I believe God inspired me. I grinned and told her that would be a perfect age to have everything grow into place. I said, you'll come back after the summer to your sophomore yr of high school and all the boys'll whisper to each other, "have you seen C_____ man, she looks awesome!!" I continued with how they will have allready dated the other "skinny" girls in her class and know that they don't like them and be fighting over who gets to take my sweety to the prom. She gave me an odd look at first and said, no way, but with a little hug and a little more, "mom knows" attitude she grinned from ear to ear and thought this sounded like a great future. I shared this with you ladies, because as a mom I walked away thinking I did good. I'm helping her love herself and be strong.......as a woman I walked away sad that when I was young no one ever helped me see the good in me,the silver lining to come. Yet, I am happy that God has shown me who I am........My wish for you all today is that someone you care about lets you know you're wonderful today and are getting better every day....

Good afternoon gang!

lovnmom - that is awesome about the 10 minute mile! :cp: :dancer: YOU GO GIRL! that's great. I see you are almost at your goal weight too. I cannot even imagine what that must feel like. And have fun shopping for some shorts that fit. Isn't great when your clothes are TOO BIG!

Hey SunnyD - I just love the "I love America" red, white & blue heart. you find the coolest pictures!

Michellle - a lot of people find that the Armour Thyroid works better for them because it has T3 and T4 in it. Some doctors are skeptical and you have a hard time getting them to prescribe it, but if you think it is what you need, don't give up. You are doing great with your weight loss, but if you are still feeling fatigued, something must not be working right???

I am cleaning house today. Have been cleaning for 6 hours and I'm still not finished yet. Sooooooooo that will have to count as my exercise for today. When I clean house, I can't do another physical thing.

Hope everybody has a great day!

hugs,
cathy

I have to exercise at 5 am. It is too dark to walk outside at that time. I really like the Walk Away the Pound tapes/dvds because it is more than just walking, it's lots of hand movements and you can add handweights when you are able.

When I have time I also like to walk outside or at the mall or at a walking track at the park, but I mainly use the WATP tapes.

hope this helps,
cathy

Hey girls!!

Sunny I'll go into my health story if you promise not to be bored lol ;) Ok *deep breath* My hubby and I had been trying to get pregnant for 8 months when I finally conceived. I made my doc appt and was so excited. 3 weeks after I found out I fell down the stairs at home carrying my 18 month old daughter Taylor. Thank god she was smart enough to know that I needed the phone, I couldnt walk and for a few minutes couldnt breathe because the wind had been knocked out of me. I called hubby and he rushed home and took me to the ER, they did xrays to make sure I didn't break my back or fracture anything. They also did an ultrasound to check on my little baby. All was good. I did bruise my tailbone rather badly and couldnt walk unassisted for about 2 weeks. Anyway, about an 2 hours after I left the hospital my ER doctor called me and said they had seen some suspicious looking lumps in my chest and that my OB/GYN would be calling me soon so we could do what needed to be done. I just broke down and cried and cried of course thinking the worst. I prayed that whatever was wrong with me would turn out to be nothing. So my OB/GYN called that night I had to set up all medical procedures through the OB because I was under their care for the duration of my pregnancy. She was so compassionate and caring I will never forget that. I went in to see the OB the next day and she did a physical exam to see if she could find any other obvious suspicious lumps. She did. There was a 4 cm lump on my thyroid. Another problem and they were pretty sure it wasn't related to the lumps in my chest. So we dealt first with my lumps or very enlarged lymph nodes in my chest. I was referred to a thoracic surgeon who got me in the next week for a biopsy of my lungs and airways and also the lymphs. I guess (I don't remember this) that when I was coming out of anesthesia I asked my doctor if it was cancer and he said "no, it looks good." and I started crying then I asked "is my baby okay" he says "yes everything went well" I guess I broke down bawling but I don't remember. But the doctor said it was one of the most touching things he has seen. It turned out that I have an auto immune disease that infiltrated my lungs called Sarcoidosis. I went on steroid treatments and now you can't tell that I have the disease except for the damage that was already done to my lungs which can't be repaired. Now on to my thyroid...I had blood tests done to check my hormone levels and they came back off the charts, I was hyperthyroid, which made me extremely tired all the time, which made me spend a lot of time in bed, which made me gain a lot of weight. I had my thyroid biopsied with a procedure called a fine needle aspiration or FNA and it came back negative for cancer Thank God!! We had to wait til after my delivery to treat my thyroid problem because they didn't want to expose me to any more procedures or drugs as I had already been run through the mill, I had a perinatologist I had to see a few times who was 120 miles from my home, on top of that my blood pressure skyrocketed so I spent all nine months in bed and then a few months after deliver too. I was seeing the OB once a week for most of my pregnancy because I was put into the high risk category. Anyway, So I ended up going in for an induction because of my problems with my blood pressure, and I failed to progress beyond 7 cm and they were having a horrible time tracing the babys heartrate so the doctor broke my water and attached an internal monitor to Teagans head. Still no progress, I got my intrathecal and it passed and wore off still no progress, the doctor said that she thought the cord was wrapped around her head and she couldnt come down, I had been in labor about 21 hours at that point, so I went for a csection. Baby was healthy and went to recovery, we left the hospy 5 days later. OMG this is a long post sorry I know you only asked about my thyroid but it all kind of runs together lol. So after I delivered Teag and we get home I started having my gallbladder attacks and knew I needed to have it removed so I got that done 4 weeks after delivery. Then I stopped nursing so I could have my thyroid uptake scan done and it came back as a Hot nodule, which means that it was producing massive amounts of the thyroid hormone. The doctor was very suprised that I didn't have heart problems even though I had told him a few times that I had felt palpitations lol. So I had the lower right lobe of my thyroid removed and started on synthroid I started feeling a bit better but, I'm still not 100%. After I had my thyroid done I had a few more medical procedures, and endoscopy because I was still getting gall attacks after having it removed, then I had a cold knife cervical conization because I had stage III cervical displaysia which is the last step before cancer, then I had my wizzys (wisdom teeth) removed no big deal there, but as you can see it was a very trying medical year for me I'm just glad I am on my way to a healthy life and all of you help me everyday. Sorry that this is so long but I always start at the beginning when I talk about it other wise people tend to discount what I've gone through and how it affected me as a person, emotionally, and physically. It has made me stronger but at the same time I've also realized how fragile life is and I cherish everyday and I try not to live with hatred in my heart now. Life is too short, and I want to be able to LIVE not just be alive.

whew, ok, I'm done lol, I always get a lil emotional talking about it. But there it is and no sympathy, I've learned to live again and not just exist, I think god was telling me something: I could make a difference even if it was small, I had the power to change the things I thought I couldn't, There is more to life than going through the motions, Stop, smell the flowers, cherish everyday, and mostly, take care of yourself theres only one body and I know there are people who need me to nurture them.

Ok all done :)
Keep up all the hard work girls!
Michelle

Great job Cathy! You've inspired me, I'd planned to take the day off, but now I'm going to do 2 miles. Thanks. We've got a b-day party to attend today and I know I'll be eating more than I should so a couple miles will help. I am making a large lettuce salad with loads of veggies for my dish to pass. Hopefully I can stick to that and one brat. This WI girls loves her brats, but you can keep the beer lol

Have a great day.

My Goodness *MICHELLE*
I guess you have been handed a bit of struggles in your life!!! :sorry: :^: WoW!
You sure have come a long way baby!! I do know what you mean about stopping and smelling the flowers and enjoying what beauty is all around you - I try every moment I get to - to do just that. I too have been through much in life and have come through it all and I do believe "that which does not break you, will make you stronger." I think that is how it is phrased. Another is... after the gold had been through it's fire it is at it's truest form and filled with awesome beauty. That's the beauty that we all see in you, Michelle :goodvibes :grouphug: {{{Hugs}}} All the more reason that you should be so proud of yourself and how far you have come :smug:

*KRISTI*
:bravo: :cp: :twirly: Awesome job succeeding in a 10 min. Mile!!!!!!! :twirly: :cp: :bravo:
I hope that one day I will be able to do the same... right now I am much too heavy for my bad knee and weak ankles. But I am hoping that one day I will jog again :^: I use to jog a 8 min. mile, but it's been a loooooooooooooong time.
I am so happy for you :) !!!

*CATHY*
I am glad that you are not bothered by all my pictures and graphics... I have read posts in other threads and some people really hate it when there are pictures, so it thrills me when I know that someone likes them and doesn't mind... I don't want to aggravate anyone ;)

:twirly: Keep up the wonderful job in your exercises!! :cp: You and the other gals sure to make it nice coming here to post and stay true to my workouts each day.

 Hi *LYNNE* & *SHEILA*
Sure do hope you are having a real nice 4th of July weekend ~
we miss you ;)

*~*~*

We had a huge thunderstorm come through here just a bit ago - but it is looking like we are through the worst of it. I was up at 5:00 this morning and out the door by 5:15 to get in my walk. I got 3 Miles in today --- I never did get in the 2 I hoped to yesterday, but I was very busy  And this morning when I got home from my walk I spent another 40 minutes watering and weeding my gardens (then it rains :dizzy: ) ... everything looks so beautiful right now. It is the first year I am able to bring in some cuttings and have my own flowers in vases.

Here are a couple pictures for you all to see.
So beautiful, if I do say do myself ;)

Sunny, You said the nicest things to Michelle. You are just the sweetest......are your flowers hydranges (spelling?) whatever they are, they are beautiful. Great job on another 3 miles. I'm going to have to get my butt in gear before you blow by me!! I love the stars and stripes, thanks..........I did really great at my party and stayed on program well. I focused on the people around me rather than the food. When I got home though I got started on a binge. I suppose rewarding myself for good party behavior!?!?!, BUT I'm really proud of myself I was about 800 cals into the binge when I headed to get the ice cream and stopped. I got on the TM and slowly started my 2 miles I said I'd do today. I ended up adding weights and doing a whole upper body routine. I never went over 3.5 mph, but now I'm writing to you all and I have no desire to eat. Thanks to all of you for being here and thanks to the 3 lovely sisters who made it possible for me to have you all in my life!!

Good Morning my dear friends,
I have just gotten home from my morning walk (and am now sipping on my water as I write to you) and got in 2.5 Miles today. Joe & I are going out for breakfast this morning, so I wanted to be sure and get in my walk. The park is so full of mosquitoes we aren't able to go now --- well, unless you want to bathe first in repellant  So I got up and went early - I was out the door at 4:50am - before the Robins began to sing. I heard the first song at 5:05 this morning, beautiful. And my hubby is still fast asleep. That's why I came in right away to post, he has a day off today and we are heading out (whenever he gets going) for breakfast together and then on to Wal-Mart. We have some vitamins and bathroom things we need ;) Also, I am going to get my sister one of the insulated cups I have... they are so nice - it is a 64oz (8 glasses) mug for only $4.00 if my memory serves me correctly. I love it because I know what I am (or am not) getting in as far as water for the day. Sometimes I drink that and then fill it again and almost get that all in too. Today I will need it! We splurged last night and got a pizza - we have had pizza in a looong time... now I am so puffy from the salt! I will be drinking allot of water to flush some of that out of me today.

*KRISTI*
Yep, they are Hydrangeas and Red Astillbe :) So glad you like...

As far as walking... that's how I felt in the last month with you and the others, being I wasn't well - I couldn't keep up and I was bummin' out  You are doing just fine, what with raising children and taking care of your home. I don't know how you gals do it all :dizzy:

You are so very welcome! :goodvibes

Out the door before 5am again Sunny!!!!! I don't know how you do it. I open our store every morn at 6am and most days I hate it. I am a natural early riser, but I think the having to do it spoils it!!!.........Michelle, Right back at you girl!!..................I had no idea, but it turns out Dh is planning to take most of the day off today. He's allready mentioned Pizza Hut buffet ( aghhhhhhhh ) this didn't fit into todays plan of totally back on track. Life happens though and we need to live it. Thankfully I only goaled a 3# loss for this month. The way it's going I'll have to drop it all in 1 wk lol...7 y/o learned to ride a 2 wheeler at my SIL yesterday. It was real easy for her. In less than an hr she was even pushing off and starting herself. Before 8am today she had her bike out of the garage and sitting right by the deck wanting the training wheels off lol..she's off and riding....Have a great day everyone!! planning 2 miles and leg work this morning.

Good Morning Gang!

This morning I did another 30 minute 2 mile WATP w/2 lb handweights from start to finish. I am sore from my strength training workout yesterday but oh well, that is just the way it goes.

I won't be exercising tomorrow morning because I have a doctors appt at 8:00 and I don't want to drink a bunch of water before weighing in. For some reason 32 oz of water weighs about 3 or 4 lbs on me.

Good Morning Gals,
And what a nice morning it is! I haven't walked today yet - I was really tired, so I slept in till 5:15 this morning and had to get Joe's lunch ready & get him out the door. I felt like I needed the rest, so will get my 2 miles in later today. And tomorrow I will go to Curves in the morning. Monday they were closed and I cannot go today...

What a day Joe & I had yesterday!
We had a nice breakfast out yesterday and then had a FULL day shopping! We went to Wal-Mart for bathroom supplies, the Pet Store for food supplies and cat harnesses (so the boys could go outside with us - they love it - just like puppies, so cute!), Lunch at Tony Roma's (they have a Low Carb Menu now-nice!) ~ I had Bar-B-Q Chicken (with No-Carb sauce), steamed broccoli w/garlic and a salad & Joe had a Chicken Ceaser Salad; then on to Target we went... We don't have a sleeper-sofa any more (& we have company coming in Aug.) so we got an air bed at Target. We got the Eddie Bauer Brand ($69.00-Queen Size) - it was allot cheaper and just as nice as the Aero Air Mattress ($179.00-Queen size). It comes with it's own compressor and inflates in 90 seconds and the compressor can be switched around to pull the air out when you want to deflate it --- we had it deflated and put into the carry bag it comes with in about 3-4 min. This one is battery operated with 4 D-cell batteries. The Aero is electric... but for as often as we would use it (& the price difference!) we thought the Eddie Bauer was a much better deal. Besides... you can use the battery operated one anytime or anywhere (no electric needed), which makes it very convenient. We just take the batteries out after we finish with it before we store it away. It's great! When Joe & I inflated ours yesterday we both *napped on it for an hour or so (*note --- only napped  ) --- we were just so tired from the day --- shopping is allot of hard work :^: :smug: It's real soft on top and I like the color of it too. It's very comfortable and will use reg. sheets. We already have a Q-size bed, so we didn't have to buy any more sheets. So Nice. So if anyone is looking for an Air Bed - that is my review ;)

*~*~*

*SHEILA*
It's so good to hear from you! ONLY 6 hours of walking! Are you nuts?! You are doing great!!!! I too haven't been to Curves as often as I would like to go, but I find that I am so busy during my days that if I don't go in the morning I don't get it in! That's why I am going tomorrow morning for sure and again on Friday! Then next week I will get in my 3x on Mon-Wed-Fri. But I want to keep up my walking each day - I will just do less on the days I go to Curves.

*CATHY*
You are another *nutty-buddy :dizzy: *
70 minutes of toning!?!! How are you feeling today?? I did check out the DvD's when I was in Wal-Mart yesterday, but didn't buy it yet... I have so many that are good and I haven't used, so I felt it best to wait... but she does look to have a great program!

:^: You posted while I was writing :) WoW! You workhorse you... another 30 min. / 2 miles today... you answered my question --- I guess you are feeling okay. I sure do wish you well tomorrow at the Dr's! Is it a check up for your thyroid? Sorry if I am asking and you already stated why - sometimes my mind leaves me :o
*Prayers* that all goes just as you hope it will!

Good Morning SunnyD,

yea I feel ok this morning...I mean I'm sore and my muscles feel shakey but I am fine :dizzy: I really didn't want to get up this morning and walk, but I knew I would be skipping it tomorrow, so I didn't cut myself any slack.

Yes my appointment tomorrow is to see the doc that is treating my low thyroid. I am hoping and PRAYING that he will have some insight as to why I can't lose any weight. Hopefully he will be agreeable to upping my armour thryoid to 3 grains a day, if not I have decided to do it anyway, for at least 6 weeks to see if it helps, but I just wanted to talk with him about it first. Maybe he will know something that I have not thought about, even tho I have read everything I can get my hands.

Sooooooo you slept in til 5:15 huh! ;) wow that is really late you sleepy head you! hope the extra few minutes helped!

hope everybody has a great day!

Hope Curves goes good too!.......Cathy, as always terrific job walking and strength training alike. Praying all goes well at the Dr tomorrow...........Michelle, you run a nudist camp too?!?!?! It's so hard to keep clothes on them all...sometimes I'd like to just join them lol...I'm so happy for you. All your new confidence to go out and show some skin..the sun just feel so awesome....Be proud girl!!........Sunny, You have so many smileys in your post, are you sure you just "napped" on that new mattress?!?!?! Glad you had a good day!.......Lynne, Where the heck are you girl?.......As for me, it's all ablout baseball and softball again today. Everybody won again. I don't know what's going on. We are a very small school district so usually we don't do so well at sports, but these kids really know what they're doing. In all honesty though I'm really starting to need a Kristi day. My Dh is wonderful, but when the kids schedules are so full he always seems to get more needy as well and I'm ready to have just even 6 hrs where nobody wants anything from me. Do you all feel this way too sometimes? Anyway, I'm skipping exercise today and will be at it again tomorrow.

I am such a slacker here. I have not done any real walking but I did swim today. I plan to about 5 days a week for the next 6 weeks. I signed my boys up for swim lessons so while they are in lessons I can get in the pool for Family Swim. I stay in the deep end so forced to swim or at least tread water. My legs are a bit tired after today being in the water for just over an hour but it's a good tired.

Cathy, It's not a very exciting story and no majic pill. I altered my diet and invested in a decent treadmill. Took me many months but I did it slow. Never more than 3 lbs in one weeks time. I have been stuck for the past 6 to 9 months. I would like to drop another 15lbs and hope the swimming gets me over the hump. Granted I have been neglecting my treadmill. Hurt my back quite a while ago and walking was tourture so stopped walking. Just got out of the habit. I am happy with what I have lost so far but would like to get over this hump and down closer to my final goal weight of about 135.

Well, I hope no one minds me joining in...!

Unfortunately I've never been athletically inclined (infact, you know the person who always got picked last for team sports? Well, I was *AFTER* that person!), so I suppose walking is one of the only options I have for exercise where I'm pretty much guaranteed I won't get hit in the head with a ball of any sort. :dizzy:

I enjoy walking... once I get out there. I just need that kick in the a$$ out the door. Eeesh.

Any tips/advice on how to get/keep motivated?

Do any of you use a pedometer? If so, do you find that they are accurate? How many steps should you take to help you lose weight. I do a 20 min strength training in the morning and am trying to hit over 12000 steps per day. I have been doing it a week. I can usually eat less and lose 10 pounds in a week but with the muscle gain, I have only lost 5. I already see a difference in my muscle tone. What do you all think. Is this enough exercize if I limit my calories to under 1100 per day to lose weight long term?

Good evening everyone! I finally got back to walking today. I had such a terrible June and noticed that I was starting to put weight back on so decided that today was gonna be a new start. I also have a dr. appt. in about 2 weeks and want to be able to say that I'm exercising and eating right ;) .

I walked on the treadmill for 2 miles and rode the exercise bike for 6 miles today. I have to say that I was inspired by all the posts on this thread.

Have a goodnight and I'll see ya tomorrow! --- Vickie ---

Good morning ladies....Janine, I think swimming is an awesome choice for exercise. No stress on any joints, it's fun, plus I love how light I feel in the water. Enjoy!....Cathy, Good morning lady!.....Mel, I too was always picked last in PE. lol (it's funny now) You've come to the right place for encouragement and knowledge. The ladies her are the best......Laurie, I wish you the best on your weight loss journey. Saying that I have to express that I fear your goals may be a little high. Losing 10# a week is very unhealthy and can rarely be attained more than 1 wk in a row. You run the risk of losing muscle you also run the risk of becoming so discourage when you don't lose at your goal rate that you quit all together. Please, don't hate me. This is a journey I've been on a long time. I have successfully lost and kept off 35 pounds for 4+ yrs. As you read more posts and become aquainted with more of the ladies here who have reached or almost reached goal. You will see they have done it by losing 1-3 pounds a week. Welcome to a thread full of wonderful women who will support you all the way. Truly, I'm not a know it all. I just want you to be successful and slow but sure has worked for me and a lot of others as well. I apologize if I've overstepped my bounds..........Vickie, Your numbers are awesome. Terrific job! 2 mile on TM and 6 miles biking in one day WTG.........Sunny, Hope your morning at Curves was fun. I see your egg's on TTYL.............As for me. I'm planning 2 miles on TM and 2 miles on the trail while my kids are at the library. I have to make sandwiches for the blood drive in town today. We have no ball. It's raining for the 3rd day in a row. When is it going to be summer?!?!?! Have a great day ladies....Sheila, Your post is on the next pg. I'll catch up with you later!!!

Sheila, You're so funny. I too feel the same way about additional miles. If I have the time I (and the weather's nice) I love to just keep om walking. Every week you sound so much happier, more energetic, and confident than the woman we first met. I'm so happy for you. What has your niece decided, boyfriend or service?

Have a great day,

Kristi

I'mmmm Back :D
I got home from Curves and spent some time watering the flower pots (the rain never gives them enough water) and then I cut some hydrangea's to give my neighbors... we have three widowed ladies that are our neighbors and who doesn't love flowers to perk up their day :) After I delivered the flowers I came in and walked the 2 Miles I said I was going to walk yesterday and didn't :nono: So I got in my 2 miles and my Curves in today...

*~*~*

Hi *SHEILA*
Another 6 Miles!!!! ! Good for you!!! I cannot remember the last time I walked 6 miles. Do you have a measured path or are you using a pedometer? You did Curves and 6 Miles... I am tuckered out doing Curves and 2 Miles :faint: I give you allot of credit!

*CATHY*
Sure do hope that all is going well for you at your Dr's appointment today. Just want you to know that *I'm thinking of you and prayers are going out* that you come home with some really great news. You have been working so very hard.

*JANINE*
Good to see you again :) I do hope we see you again soon --- I know it sure does help me to stay "on track" when I post what I am planning on doing for the day here --- cuz just like Kristi said about herself, when I say I am going to do it I DO, if I don't do what I said I would... then it doesn't feel right at all and not only have I lied to myself I have misled you all. So... ... it's much easier to do what I say I will do.

:bravo: I think you have done an awesome job so far in your weight loss so far :cp: Down 60 lbs.! Those last few lbs. are always the toughest to get off! :jig: I had lost 85lbs. once before (in 1985 - 1992) and I remember when I got to that 145 lb. mark and wanted to see 135 it seemed to take forever! In 1992 after some tragic things happened in my life --- to cope I began to eat again for comfort and gain most of it back again :( I so wished I had exercised the stress away then instead of falling into old ways... I wouldn't be going through this all over again now I feel that way just trying to get to 150 :stars: !!! Again... I think you are doing wonderfully! Don't beat yourself up... just come here and we'll keep you smiling :D

*KRISTI*
Hey there girl... doesn't it feel good to get in a good laugh! It's good for the soul... I know he wanted to... but I was so tuckered out! Speaking of Joe, he is going for his sleep study on the 11th of August. He'll leave the house at 8:30pm and should be home by 7am the next morning. I will miss him! I cannot remember the last time I slept all by myself. Well, I won't be all by myself with 3 cats on the bed, but they don't cuddle me like he does ;) He has been doing so much better knowing he needs to sleep on his side, he looks better too - so it will be interesting to hear about the results.

*MICHELLE*
Your plans for your 2nd Anniversary sound so nice --- I am sure that anything you do together - alone - will be great & he will love it!

It's so important to keep the marriage alive between the two of you when you have children --- any couple with children. Children demand so much of your time, so that's why you two should nitch out a bit of time for yourselves --- even after your anniversary, you know... like a date once a week or even twice a month. Allot of people comment on Joe & I and how close we are, but we do not have children to interrupt our conversations, dates, or our private time together ;) and that makes a huge difference. That's why a marriage with children is so much more work... making the time for one another to keep that fire burning is a great thing to do ;) Remember that after they have grown and left the home - it's just the two of you again and so many look at one another like strangers when that happens... I just reread my post to you :o --- sorry if I seemed to be on a soapbox :soap: :dizzy: Joe & I just hate to see so many marriages go bad because they didn't make time for one another, you know ;)

When is your Anniversary?

*VICKIE*
Yeahhh on your 2 Mile Walk & 6 Mile Bike-ride ***WooHoo*** :dancer: ... that is a great start. I too had a terrible June, but am doing so much better so far this month.

*LAURIE*
I use a pedometer when I take my walks outdoors... I don't really pay attention to the steps taken because they aren't accurate, but I do find that the miles I walk and the calories burned match up with my T-Mill if I wear it while walking on my T-Mill. So that is why I wear it walking outdoors so I am able to keep track. I have read that the average person takes 2,000 steps per mile, so if you can walk 5 miles a day you will get in your 10,000 steps.

*MEL*
I so know what you mean about consistency. The only way I stay consistent is to have someone to answer to (like posting here) & "just doing it" without putting so much thought into it. I find that when I think about doing something too long that most times I don't do it, cuz I just kept putting it off for one thing or another --- did I make any sense there  For instance... ... when I wake up in the morning (no matter the time) and find that the weather is good outdoors I just get up (all groggy and with my eyes barely opened) and grab all my walking clothes that I have set aside and my pedometer that I keep in the same place so I know where it is in the dark and go! I start off soooo slow, but the feeling of the fresh air and hearing the beautiful sounds of the morning it is well worth it. As you stated - it's just "beginning to do" it that is the hardest. Once I begin then I am so glad I did. Some days are so much harder then others, but I am always glad I did. The same goes for my T-Mill, I just hop on and once I begin I feel better. I sure do sleep allot better at night! I use to have insomnia --- not anymore! I do the same thing when it comes to going to Curves --- just get out. It is much harder to do during the winter when I have to clear the jeep of S*#w (not a good word right now  ), but it sure does make me feel better during the winter doldrums.

*~*~*

Well gals, I really have to pull myself away from the computer and get my house cleaned --- sounds like fun, huh --- NOT!
Hope you all have a wonderful day today!
Catch you later...

Good Morning Gang!

Welcome to all the new comers!

I did not exercise this morning because of my doctor's appointment.

Let's see, my blood pressure was low, temp was normal (that's a first, it usually runs about 97.2, but has been up to 98.0 lately on 2 grains of Armour Thyroid), my pulse was slow (because everything just barely runs on me) and my weight was up 5 lbs since I saw him on February 17. Now could you please tell me how it is possible for anyone to gain 5 lbs in 4 months while they are eating 1200 calories a day, exercising like crazy, and drinking around 100 oz of water per day??? somebody please please please tell me how that is possible!

We did blood work to check my thryoid levels again (even tho we are mainly treating my symptons) and to check my testerone, and some other things. He wants me to see the nutrionist to "discuss things" and see if maybe she can help me see something that I'm not seeing, and said that possibly even tho I am aiming for 1200 calories a day, I am eating a little more then that, and that I apparently have a very low basal rate. I asked about only eating a 1000 calories a day and he says that is just too low.

He is against me upping my armour thyroid to 3 grains a day until he sees my new bloodwork, but gave me a prescription for Phentermine 37.5 I haven't taken diet pills in 9 months (and the last time I took them I did not lose any weight while taking them - if you can believe that) but after talking with him I feel better about taking them. He says that most people with a low thryoid problem need a good diet pill, that their not addictive, etc. So I will fill the prescription and start them tomorrow.

So I guess I will do what he says (for now), keep the thyroid meds like the are, take the phentermine and I will finish my birth control pills on July 22, and give that a 3 month try without them. If none of that helps me lose some blooming weight, then I will just up my thyroid med myself and see what happens. ;)

So there are the boring details of my continuing weightloss struggles.

5 lbs up can you believe that! *sigh*

hope everybody has a good day!

hugs,
cathy

Thanks for the advice, guys. I did about 16000 steps yesterday and about 40 mins of weights. I ate very little and lost about 3 lbs ( I am down to 185). I know losing this way may be a bit unhealthy but it is just a push for my vacation. I am still going to work out on vacation and eat healthy. I think I should be able to maintain (maybe lose?). When I get back I will be on the 1100 calories per day and maintain my exercise. I am already at 11000 steps and it is 9:23 in the morning so I am on my way to 20000 steps today (my goal).

I am so sorry you are sooo bummed... I know that if it were me I would be too! I am sending you {{{really big hugs}}}!!! Cathy, didn't your Dr. mention that muscle weighs allot more then fat does?? And even though you may know that in the back of your mind - you have to put it in the front... you have been doing allot of strength training lately and that will cause your muscles to swell & hold water. I bet that if you were to give your body some rest of a day or two and then weigh yourself again on the 3rd day in the morning, you would see that 5 lbs. come off! I am so sure of it.

You are doing all the right things... please don't let this news put you into a funk even though I couldn't blame you if it did. I know how I felt when I worked so hard at Curves and went for my Weigh-in and Measure (I also drink 70 - 80 oz of water a day), when I didn't see results it took me a few day of feeling sorry for myself to buck up and keep on truckin' You have to know that you are doing very well --- feel your disappointment now, but don't sit in it, okay. You have been great inspiration to me and the other girls in just the short amount of time I have known you, don't let the devil  take you down... it's what he wants, because he knows how awesome you are as a witness and he doesn't want that! ;) Okay... I am done for now, I just want you to really know that you are so not alone in your disappointment.

{{{Big Hugs!!!}} :grouphug:
Always,

Hey Gang!

thanks so much for the encouragement!

Sheila & SunnyD I really appreciate it!

SunnyD - I have thought about the muscle, but my clothes aren't any loser so I figure I really haven't put on any muscle, even tho I've been working hard (for me) at the strength training. But I didn't think about the muscle retaining more water. He did mention that I seemed to be retaining fluid bec my ankles were puffy and my fingers were swollen - but I really figured that was because I did not exercise this morning and get all that circulation going??? know what I mean?

But I really appreciate your encouragement - you are right - I don't have the time or the energy to get into a funk over this, because I cannot let up on the exercise or healthy eating. I have no choice! I have to do this - or I will POP!

I am hopeful that the diet pills will help, and that getting off the birth control pills will help. I am always hopeful - silly me! LOL

He said that one reason the diet pills may not have helped me last year when I took them was because I ordered them over the internet and he is not sure that what we get over the internet is the same stuff we are getting at home. Maybe he is right about that.

thanks again for the encouragement and understanding!

hugs,
Cathy

WOW! You girls are so encouraging... makes me think I could climb Everest. Hmmmm... not quite that ambitious yet, but you know what I mean. Anyway I definitely think I found the "right" thread for me. Yay!

I managed to get a short walk in yesterday, would have gone farther 'cept my darn shoes were rubbin' bad and developed a nasty blister. Note to self: MUST GET NEW SHOES! <--- Like women *REALLY* need a "reason" to buy a new pair of shoes! ;)

I really wish I had the energy to roll outta bed, hair every which way, eyes still "stuck" together and head out for a walk. Not that adventurous yet. Perhaps sometime soon I'll have the motivation. It looks like I have to invest in some "comfy walking clothes" as well. <--- Any excuse to go shopping, hey?

Hopefully the rain will let up a little bit and I can take my little one out for a walk this afternoon. If not, looks like it'll have to wait until after dinner. Either way, I'm heading out for a walk. I also plan on doing a 30mins pilates class....! Guess we'll see. :)

-----------------------------------------

Laurie: Congrats on the 11,000 steps so far today! I have no doubt in my mind that you'll meet (or beat!) your 20,000 goal! WTG! :D As for the pedometer, I read somewhere to judge the accuracy, reset it. Then take 20 steps. Your total should read somewhere between 19-21 steps to equal "great" accuracy. :)

Cathie: Although I don't know anything about you or your condition, I really hope you don't get discouraged. It sounds as though you've been working VERY hard. I just wanted to wish you all the best in your weight-loss journey! :) Congrats on all your effort you've put forth thus far!

SunnyD: Thanks for your sage advice... I can't wait to get to the "place" you're at... I really need to stop "thinking" about exercising and just DO IT! Reading what you wrote made total sense to me... why I haven't been sleeping well... why I haven't been feeling well...! Light-bulb moment, if you will! Thanks for the enlightenment! :D

Sheila: Your story definitely brought a smile to my face. I can't wait to have that same confidence you spoke of! Congrats on your success... not just with your weightloss but with where you are with youself! :)

Good luck to everyone... have a great day! :D

Hello all,

It's so nice to have a place to come to and feel so welcome and encouraged -- especially when somedays it's hard to even think about exercise much less doing it. :dizzy:

I did 3 miles on the treadmill this morning and 6 miles on the exercise bike.

Totals for July: 5 miles walked and 12 miles biked. :)

Sunny --- I love your graphics!!!!!!! :D

Wow you girls are exercising like crazy! :dizzy: ya'll go!

I didn't exercise this morning because I had to get up early and be at the Louisiana National Guard Armory to say goodbye to a dear friend who is leaving for Fort Hood, Texas, today and then to Iraq in September. We probably won't get to see him again before he leaves so I just had to be there. Brought him a great big batch of homemade oatmeal cookies for him to eat on the bus ride there.

Please keep all of our troops and their families in your prayers, while they are fighting this war against terrorism!

I may try to walk tonight if I have time, or just catch it tomorrow.

Hope everyone has a blessed day!

Well poo on me, I didn't get my walk in yesterday! :( It rained pretty well all day long (we had a nasty storm roll in)! But I did get my 50 crunches and pilates class in... plus a little weight-training. I also managed to keep from eating "the bad stuff".

Goal for today: 60 crunches, pilates, 1hr walk, plus weight training!

Congrats to all of you on your great exercising! I hope you all have a happy healthy day! :D Take care.

Hey there gals,
It's so nice to see everyone doing so well :D
I went to Curves this morning and walked 1.75 Miles when I got home... figured I needed to even out my miles and I was already in my workout clothes, so I just hopped on the T-Mill. It really helped that it's so much cooler today and clear... the humidity went way down, so I was able to open up the house. That is such a nice feeling. I think the hardest part of winter is when I have to close up the house for more then 7 months, so I just take in days like these.

*~*~*

*CATHY*
I hope I wasn't too strong... I just really felt for you. I am so glad that you are doing okay. I was just thinking with all the swelling you had that you may have been overdoing it and not giving your body enough rest time in between workouts. You are on diet pills? What are you taking? Some will cause you to hold water...

I DO hold our troops in prayer each and every day!
My father is a Vet and I am a Marine Brat (so to speak... I hope I am not really a brat ;) ) so I feel so connected to what is happening with this war. I grew up with war in our lives never knowing if daddy was coming home. I think it's wonderful that you are taking a day off of exercise, first off to rest your body and second for your dear friend. How wonderful that you made homemade oatmeal cookies for him to take... I am sure he'll cherish that thought long after they are gone. What is his first name? I will add him to my prayer list ;)

*MEL*
I sure hope I didn't say too much... sometimes I want so much to help I can annoy people :^:

I did take a look-see at your PROFILE and what a beautiful young lady you are!! I really enjoy it when people add pics to their profiles, it's great to make that connection with what you look like.

You mentioned that you managed to get in a short walk, but not how far you went? Great to hear that you did get out. Bummer about your shoes!!! That has happened to me when I get new shoes and am breaking them in... I am looking to get some new ones, have been for a couple months but keep putting it off for some odd reason. I can feel that the ones I have now are broken down and don't give me the support I should have. I am looking into a the new Nike's, but they are pricey.

*LAURIE*
You too --- a really pretty young lady! Love your picture!

WoW! Those are allot of steps!!!
:cp: WooHoo for you!!!! :cp:

*SHEILA*
You know... I noticed a huge change in you as well and kept meaning to say something and would always forget --- I wish I had. You have really come far, Sheila, and are doing wonderfully!!!! I think it's awesome that you may have found someone to share your life with... something how things workout, huh. It sounds as if he has always had a 'thing' for you too ;) :goodvibes

*VICKI*
Thanx!! :D I am so glad you enjoy my graphics - I have quite a collection :) Someday I hope to learn how to make my own - but I just don't have the time right now. Maybe during the winter when I am inside more... in the meantime, I just collect them from all over.

 You are doing super so far with your exercise!!!

Hey SunnyD - WOW curves and walking! you're doing great! passing me up for sure! ;)

You weren't too strong at all yesterday! I appreciate all of your concern and support and encouragement! really I do! I got on my scale this morning and it is definitely up 4 lbs. I had been weighing in at 205 *wah* and its up to 209 *wah wah*. It's enough to make ya cry! *cry* but I have always been like this, always had trouble losing weight, but now it seems impossible at times. But like I said I'm not giving up hope - ever! LOL

I wasn't on diet pills. I haven't taken them for 9 months, but he gave me Phentermine, which I started this morning, so now I'm on them. Hopefully it won't make me retain fluid, but will help me get rid of it! But I am on birth control pills and they always make you retain fluid - I think I've just gotten use to it, but I'm fixing to finish them up on July 22, and gonna give myself a 3 month break to see how I do off of them. I know they cannot help with my weight problems.

My friend's name is Todd, and I know he would appreciate your prayers SunnyD! Thanks for asking and adding him to your prayer list!

hugs,

Sunny: No you didn't "say too much"... and you certainly didn't annoy me! I'm truly grateful for you advice and encouragement! :)

Thanks also for the compliment (having had a peek at my profile)... it's not a particularily recent photo of mine but I'm debating having my hair cut like that again once I reach my 1/2 way goal. :) We shall see....!

I know I didn't mention how far I went... I honestly don't know. :( I lost my pedometer (my 2 y/o has a habit of "hiding" things!) but I did approx. 1/2 an hour, moderately paced if that means anything. Since I missed yesterday's walk, hubby and I are hoping to get out for an hour tonight. Again moderately paced. :)

Thanks again for all your encouragement...! It really inspires me to keep moving! :D I wish I would have found this site a few months ago when I was *TRYING* to get in shape for my wedding. Ah well, better late than never, I suppose! :)

Best wishes to all of you... hope you all have a happy, healthy day! :D

Wow, I definitely have to check in more than once a day if I plan to keep up at all.....CAthy, so sorry your Dr apt didn't go as well as you planned. You have to remember how determined you've been and how hard you have worked. Things will shake lose. Keep the faith......Sunny, girl you are just doing terrific. You put out so much energy even through the net I get tired keeping up with you. I'll bet your neighbors look so forward to your visits with or without the beautiful flowers. I know I would if you visited me!!!.......Mel, a bunch of crunches and a pilates class sounds like plenty for one day. You're doing great. I love your "happy" way of writing. Have great day!...Mrs. Beasley, You numbers look great for July. I'm really glad you feel welcome and encouraged here. I know I always have......Sheila, I knew there was an awesome change in you. How wonderful for you that someone is so in love with you. I'm praying that your new relationship goes in the direction you wish for. There is nothing like being strong both in body and in spirit. Lots of love and adoration never hurt a girl either. Congrats lovely lady.....2 oldest children had ball again this morning. Then we visited my mom. She's doing much better. Using only a cain most of the time now. I cut both my son's hair and me and the girls have apt to get ours done at 4:30 today. I plan to go totally short with a little perm on top to help it go back nice. I just hate how my hair gets in my way when I exercise so it's going. We'll see how DH takes it. He won't like it, but he'll live with it. He always does lol I'm hoping to get a couple miles in yet today, but I NEED to eat so I'm not posting it yet. I'm only hopeful not determined yet lol. Have a great day girlies

No walking for me but I was in the pool for almost 1 hours today. Most of that time was spent in the deep end either swimming or treading water so I got my workout in. Plan on getting in again tomorrow. Just hope my body isn't as tired as it is right now.

Sheila, How exciting for you. Winning prizes is a really good thing. Go for it!!......Janine, Wow! You swimmer girl you. Great job! Sounds like you'll get a good nights sleep and that's worth a lot!.....As for me, I was a real big slacker today. I knew I should've said I would. That's what I get. I did get my hair done. I love it everyone else hates it. bummer. I got it short with whispies around my ears and she put a light perm in the top ( I have REALLY straight hair ) to give it a little lift and bounce, but....anyway, I hated how the longer hair flopped around when I ran and I like this do...It's all about me anyway right?!?!?! This is the season I'm in right now and I'm going with it. Slacker me is signing on for 4 miles for tomorrow. At least my resistance training is ahead of schedule so far! Have a great night girls.

I rode my bike the other day for the first time all year. Boy was I sucking wind! :dizzy: It was fun though. I tried to do it again yesterday but my legs were just too tired. I did about 15 min on my elliptical machine instead. Goes to show you why real bicyclists have very little body fat. :D Of course there's all hills here so that makes it even harder. My goal is to bike home from my in-law's house someday which is 4.7 miles away and all downhill. Then maybe I'll be able to ride uphill to their house.

I've been doing my "Abs of Steel" tapes faithfully lately. I think my ab. muscles get stronger a lot quicker then my legs. Has anyone else felt that way? :?:

Keep up the exercise!

Kristi,

As long as you're happy with your hair that's all that matters. I have finally come to that conclusion myself. My hubby and I have a deal that we wear our hair the way we like it and if the other doesn't, we keep our opinions to ourselves. lol I too have gone to a much shorter style and I really like it. I have naturally curly hair and it's alot more curly when it's shorter. I like it because it's perky just like me (though most people wouldn't use that term to describe me). :dizzy:

Enjoy your 4 mile walk tomorrow! I hope to get in a 3 mile walk in the morning -- if I don't do it then, I have a hard time forcing myself to do it later.

Have a goodnight! :)

JoJo, Great job riding your bike. I bet you'll be riding "home" from your IL by the end of the summer. I'm doing a 7 mile ride with my children today. It's a fun day for summer rec. It should be a good time!......Mrs. Beasley, Thanks for the vote of confidence concerning my choice of hair style. I figure I wasn't a raving beauty before so what the heh?! lol I too have a really hard time exercising later in the day. Today is going to be a hard one. I'm doing the bike ride, but it too is my DS 9th birthday so the day will be filled with activities. I'm determined to do both the bike and walk though. I've been slacking a bit this week, but I did weigh today and I'm down two pounds. Only one to go for this months goal. Yippee!!.... Cathy, You go girl. Truly praying your spirits are back up!! Well, I've pretty much spelled out my day allready. So, you all have the best one you can.....SUnny, Sheila, Michelle, Have a great day! TTYL

I have to be able to talk to all of you so, I HAVE to keep exercising lol Now, get to work lol

Good Morning Gals,
I just finished walking 2 Miles and Stretching for 20 Minutes...

http://img78.photobucket.com/albums/v242/SunnyD57/Christian/Misc/House_Keeping_2.gif
I have tons of laundry to finish up and it's a good day to get some ironing done.

http://img78.photobucket.com/albums/v242/SunnyD57/Christian/Misc/House_Keeping_3.gif
Yep, I am a rare one and I still iron clothes. Have to with Joe and I singing at church, you know... allot of eyes on us. The day is cool today and the humidity is low with a breeze that feels so nice coming through our home. So I'll set up the Iron Board in the living-room and watch my classic movies while I iron. Anyone want to join me ;)  :D

Always great to see a new post :)
A HUGE "Pat-on-the-back" for gettin' on that bike yesterday! :cb:
What are your plans for today?

*CATHY*
Boy... you were up and going bright and early today, gettin' in your workout ---
good for you girl!!

I am so glad that I didn't bother you...
I remember when I was struggling to get below that 200 mark too --- it seemed like it took forever! I was thrilled when I hit "One" derland of 199 lbs., but now I cannot seem to budge from 194!! We must just persevere --- press on --- keep on truckin' --- etc, etc, etc ;) Oh... two great veggies for water retention are asparagus and celery... they are natural diuretics.

I will keep Todd in my prayers - I promise you that.

*MEL*
Ohhh good... sometimes I feel like do ;) And you are very "Welcome!"
When was your wedding day?? You are a newly wed?? :smug:
Congrats to you both!

*KRISTI*
I must agree with Vicki (Mrs.Beasley) --- you do what makes you feel good as far as your hair. I know it helps when hubby likes it too, but sometimes there's no pleasing them (or anyone else)... do you like it? My Joe liked my hair long, so I kept it long for years... then this last time when Maria (his sister) wanted to cut the 5 inches off (he was there with me) and I told her... "sure go for it" & he scrunched his face a bit --- then after it was done he was like "that is really a nice cut!" ~ "It looks good on you" --- guys? :dunno: ? I would have cut it soon if I had known :dizzy:  I think your cut sounds adorable...

Good Luck with your 7 Mile Bike ride today --- have fun!!!

*SHEILA*
I noticed you changed your Avatar - nice!!! Me too... yesterday I changed mine --- I am using a Kinkade painting.

I have heard of more work places doing what yours is offering --- I think it is absolutely wonderful!!! :cp: I just couldn't be happier for you, Sheila! You are doing so wonderful these days!!! Keep up the great job, but don't forget to take care of yourself - getting the recoup rest your body needs. A reminder for us all ;)

*JANINE*
Swimming is a great exercise!!!
Good for you!!! :cp:

Okay... Where's *LYNNE and *MICHELLE RAE* ??? and *LAURIE* ??? these days... :spin: Miss you gals!

Wow! Everyone is doing AWESOME!!!
:strong:

I had a productive day yesterday and managed to do EVERYTHING I intended to. After logging all food and activity into fitday.com I found out I consumed a little less than 1200 cals. while burning nearly 3000. Crazy. But a good type of "crazy". Just seeing those figures has inspired me to push a little harder today. :drill:

Hubby and I went for a brisk hr. long walk lastnight (my guess would be close to 5mi) and the poor guy kept making comments how he couldn't keep up! :snail: Which was more of an ego-boost than anything since he's always ranting and raving about how physically demanding his job is. Pffffft.

After I finish posting, I'm gonna put on my sneaks and head out for an hr 1/2 walk with my daughter. Other activities include: pilates, 70crunches, weight-training. Best get on it...!

Kristi... I'm with the other girls, if you like your hair, that's all that matters! It certainly sound like the perfect summer haircut anyway! :D Good luck on the 7mi bike ride! And congrats on being down another 2lbs! Awesome!

Jo-Jo... Sounds like you had a great bike ride yesterday... and in no time, you'll be able to ride BOTH ways to your in-laws! Fabulous!

Mrs. Beasley... Best of luck on your 3mi walk today! I'm sure you'll do wonderfully! :D

Cathy... sounds as though you had one heckava productive morning! WTG! I sure wish I had your amt. of energy so early in the morning! :D

Sheila... Wow! Curves, 3 mi. walk lastnight and again today! Awesome! Keep that up and you'll reach your goal in no time! :)

Sunny... You have a crazy amt. of energy... enough to share? ;) Sounds like you have a busy day ahead of you! Congrats on making time to get your exercise in! :) Yup, I certainly am a newly-wed... just got hitched on May 22nd. :) It was beautiful... maybe I'll post pics sometime. :D

Anyways girls, I gotta get my butt in gear before it gets too late. I hope you all have a happy and healthy day! Best of luck to you all! :D

Sunny, Sunny, Sunny, doing ironing in advance?!?! That's all wrong girl, you're suppose to run around like a chicken with your head cut off 20 min before church starts. Aren't you ?!?!?! lol Energetic and organized too, I feel so inferior lol HAve a great weekend...Mel, Wow girl! You had an awesome day yesterday. You'll get those baby pounds off in no time.......As for me, we headed to town to meet up with the rest of the children's ball teams for our fun day bycycle ride and 2 miles out it started to rain. I knew we were going to cut it close, but my mom lives right off the trail 1/2 mile from where we were to meet the rest so, I thought if it rains we'll just go visit. Rain it did when DH came with the pick up to get the bikes we were all in our undies and my dad's t-shirts lol What a sight, but our clothes felt so snugly right out of the dryer. It'll give DS something to remember his 9th b-day by. My 7 y/o, I mentioned before, had just learned to ride a two wheeler Sun even came on the ride with us. She did totally awesome. We made the 3+ mile in 26 min. She never complained , not even about the rain :) I have to make pumkin pies now. DS always wants pumkin pie rather than cake (unless his friends are coming lol) and I'm posting my 4 miles ,because I have time for that too. It's been a "berry" good day. Rain and all!! Hope yours had been too!!

Glad to hear that your 7 y/o has learned to ride a 2-wheeler... what great fun you'll have with you kids! :D Happy birthday to your son, btw! :hb: :gift:

Hey Michelle, Great to hear you summer's in full swing and you're doing great.......Mel, We did have a very adventurous day. DS got loads of Yugio cards in the mail from my SIL. He's just in Yugio heaven well, when he's not blasting his siblings with his new "spidy blaster". Your wedding pics are beautiful I especially like the black and white in which you are signing your license. Really nice. Your little munchkin is just beautiful as well......Janine, Another great job at the pool. I hope they get the temps fixed for you.........I got my 4 miles in on the TM today. I thought I'd go slower and do incline, which I did, while watching tv. There was nothing good to watch so I popped in "Sweating to the Oldies 2". I'm telling you ladies I had a blast. I haven't used a Richard Simmons tape in over a yr. I'm sure. I forgot how much fun his music is and what nice things he can say. I know many think he's a flake, but it was his tapes and food mover that got me off the couch to begin with. I just may play his tapes with the TM again......We have a wedding to go to tomorrow, but it's not until 3:30 so I'm planning a lower body strength training and at least 1 mile. I'm reading that Dave Draper book and he says 10 min on the TM before you work out is great for getting the joints lubricated and the muscles warmed up. Sounded right to me.......Have a great weekend!
P.S. You know what I really like right now? I'm not concerned about the wedding reception at all. I know I'll eat a little more than OP, but I know I won't pig out or anything. I'm really learning to look at events as seeing people I haven't seen in a long time rather than mmmmmmm I wonder what they're serving!!! God is good and so are all of you. Thanks much :)

When I was at work I had a walking buddy but since summer started I don't have anyone until school starts again. I fond you guys and had a look around and it looks like a great support group. I was just wondering how do I join in the fun here.

Alittle bit about myself. I work at a school as a parateacher. I have 2 boys 22 and 23. I'm a Diabetic and just started taking insulin shots. I have found that walking really helps my bg control. I'm hopeing to lose 20 pounds hopeing I might be taken off insulin. If not I'm going to go for 30.

Well girls, I feel GREAT! I've really taken a liking to fitday.com and have discovered that seeing the numbers in bold print in front of you to be a huge motivator! :) It's given me that kick in the pants that I need.

Yesterday my cals. came in at 650. Today just under 700. And I'm not hungry. Haven't been either days... just been eating healthy foods rather than my typical calorie-infused junk (and drinking only water!). Feeling nothing short of AWESOME! :D

Yesterday I managed to get all intended exercise in... which makes up for today, I suppose. Only found time to take an hr. long brisk walk with hubby and daughter tonight. Oh well. Tomorrow will be better, work-out wise. :)

-----------------------
Kristi... Sounds like your son cleaned up on Yugio cards! Cool cool! My nephews love those things! Glad to hear he had a great birthday! :) Sweatin' to the Oldies, huh? Hey, whatever works for you (and if it's fun for you, then even better)! :D Sounds like you had a good day today with your 2mi. walk! Hope you have a great evening at the wedding! :)

Michelle... Lookin' forward to hearing from you when you've got some free time! :)

kcwinter... Sorry to hear that you've been recently diagnosed with diabetes, but you definitely have the right idea in wanting to WATP! Good for you! :D Best of luck in your weight-loss journey! :)

Cathy... Sounds like you've had yet another productive day! Just where do you get that energy from?! Don't suppose you'd be willing to send me some, hey?! <--- It's worth a shot! ;)

Anyways girls, I'm off for now... hubby promised me a foot rub! <--- Apparently he's totally unaware of how stinky feet can get in hot running shoes!

Well girls today was an awesome day. I took 10 y/o DD to Bible camp about 90 miles from home. This is her third yr going so I'm not worried at all. There was even a girl in her group that did a weekend mother daughter retreat with us last fall. So she was definitely good to go. We ate lunch out just the two of us on our way and stopped at Wal-Mart and treated her to a couple last mminute surprises. When I got home I took 7 y/o DD and 9 y/o DS on a 6 mile bike ride. We rode 3 miles to town where the kids stopped for chix strips and deep fried cheese curds at my sister's place. We visited awhile then loaded up a ch burg and ch balls for my youngest and headed for home. We saw bunnies and geese and stopped to eat wild raspberries along the way. Between a lovely wedding, good church service, time with oldest DD, and a good bike ride I say this wrapped up to be a great weekend. I hope you all had a great weekend as well. TTYT

It's finally HOT in WI. It took a month longer than usual, but it's finally here!!! #1 son has ball practice at 9am. I plan to take the 2 youngest to the library and get them on the computers then I can do 2 miles on the trail. It'll be nice to get it done before the heat index rises too much. Planning an arm workout today. I didn't like how my arms looked in my spaghetti strap dress I wore to the wedding Sat. They looked like 40 y/o arms lol Very pleased this morning. When I took DD to Wally world yesterday they had a rack of jeans marked down to $7. I grabbed a pair of 8 reg thinking they'd be something to work toward. They fit when I tried them on this morning :) I haven't worn a size 8 in 13 yrs. Thanks again girls. You help me stay true to myself and my goals.

As far as my ironing goes don't give me too much credit... I only got some of it done, not all of it. I still have quite a bit to do before I catch up with my pile --- I have gone way too long in between ironing and have been just doing it as I needed to and wanted it all done. Almost there ;)

Your weekend sounded very delightful :) How long will DD be at Bible Camp?

Are you really in a SIZE 8!!!???!!! Double Woo Hoo!!!!!!! You deserve a huge "atta girl!!!" for getting so close. Kristi, you are only a few lbs. away from goal, aren't you ? How excited you much feel about that! I cannot imagine!

*MICHELLE RAE*
So good to see you stop in!
I have missed you too!!
Come back soon...

What unique Wedding pictures! Just Beautiful! They look old, very nice! I am so sorry I haven't been around to let you know sooner... it's been a busy last three days. Do you have a Wedding picture that is close up of you in your gown to share with us? In all the ones you posted all we see is your profile or back --- just wondered if you would post it. Your daughter is a beautiful little girl, seems she takes after her mother ;)

I was wondering if you are taking in enough calories?? I am concerned with how little you eat... I have read in many health books that in order to lose fat and feed the muscle you must eat 5 times a day small portions and making sure to eat 3 oz. protein with grain & veggie carbs 3 of those 5 meals. Anyway, I do hope you are taking care to eat enough... I am happy for you that you are feeling so great and don't want to discourage you, just wanted to post what I have learned in case you didn't know ;) It is working for me (the 5x a day) --- just allot slower then I would like, but it is coming off.

*JANINE*
So good to see you stopping in so often... I think it's great that you are making the time to swim almost everyday. Such good exercise and you sleep so good!!

*CATHY*
WooHoo in keeping up your daily exercise in spite of being so busy... I bet you sleep well at night too!

*SHEILA*
Good for you for sticking to your Curves... I am going tomorrow with my girlfriend, neither of us could go today. We plan to go Tues., Thurs. & Friday this week. I cannot believe the storms that have come through here as well. They are so fast and furious when they come through and the humidity is so bad here you feel like you are in a sauna. You guys too?

Sears is still having some great sales on T-Mills if you want to go just to look and try them out... they usually have them out on the floor and you can try them all out if you want to --- and get in a few miles in the process

Ohhh boyyyy, does your list of veggies sound great from the market! I am making corn-on-the-cob tonight with grilled chops and a balsamic salad. Don't you just love the farmers markets this time of year!!! Wonderful --- I always bring home wayyy too much and end up sharing with the neighbors

It's great that you spent time cheering up your granny... how sweet of you! I also think you did well at your sweeties  home for dinner --- that is a tough situation, I think. I know what you mean about feeling ill after not eating those kinds of foods and then indulging... your body wants to reject it. Joe & I went out with our friends for dinner on Saturday night and all went well till Joe ordered dessert and 4 forks --- it was a very rich dessert! Very good, but rich! Just the few bites I had made me very ill the next day! Not to mention the sugar kept me awake all of Sat. night! I am going to remember that the next time we go out with our friends --- no dessert for me, I was miserable!

Oh my goodness... I bet that the Thomas Kinkade Gallery was awesome to go see! One day I will too, I love his paintings... my SIL has 4 of them hanging in her home. The painting that you described sounded so cool!

*Welcome*
to our new post-ee's :) *KCWINTER* & BBUROUGHS*
I do hope to see you both come back soon --- this is a great thread with such a great group of ladies!!!!

*~*~*

I didn't have a busy day today - it was a much quieter kind of a "catch up" day for me - the weekends are so busy. I did get in 7 miles today! Can you believe that 7! I probably won't be able to move after Curves tomorrow

Well... the boss is home from work, so I must be going. Hope that all the others - not posting but still reading ;) - are doing well!

HI girls, Sheila, it sounds like you need a pep talk in cutting yourself some slack. Your life is moving in a wonderful direction with this new guy of yours. It's ok to his mom's yummy home cooking and cheering up your grandma is a totally deliteful thing to do. Today is a new day. I bet WI wil go just fine. I have no idea what kind of flower my new avatar is, but I really liked it. Thanks for the cudos. On one hand I'm really frightened about being so close to goal. I have been 3 times before only to sabatage and go back up 10 and even 15 pounds in the past. It's like I enjoy the termoil or something and am afraid to hit goal. Kind of like what now?!? I will say I'm feeling dar stronger than ever in the past though, because I have such an active encouraging group here with the walkers..Thanks again............Sunny, my wekend was deliteful. Thank you. I will be going to watch DD and all the kids at camp this week perform at 2pm on Fri and then I get to bring her home. She just loves it there and am always so glad to see her go, but allready this eve I'm missing her and catch myself praying often that she's enjoying herself and is safe. Some bad storms are to move into her area yet this eve. I hate that thought. I have to "Fully Rely On God" to keep her safe and to let me get some sleep. It sounds like you and Joe had a nice weekend as well. I didn't think "junk" food would ever adversely affect me, but sadly when we went to see Harry Potter 3 last weekend I ate my usual 1/2 tub of lotsa butter popcorn and I was sick all day Mon. My belly just isn't use to that stuff anymore. Bitter sweet that is!!!! Have a good time at Curves tomorrow.........Janine. WTGG !!!.........Hi to everyone else!

Good Morning Gals,
Well, I got in my Curves Class and Stretching and then came home and put in 2 miles on the T-Mill... whew, I feel so tired today too. I am sure I am feeling the miles I put in yesterday :^:

Guess what gang... I think we have a animal :mouse: resident in either our walls or the floors --- I have been hearing this odd noise for the last couple months and what ever it is is making my cats crazy. My Zeppe sits in the hallway just staring at the wall for hours and every once in awhile looks at me as if to say, "aren't you gonna get it?" I think that Joe and I are going on a hunt today when he gets home to see if there's a hole somewhere in the under-flooring where 'it' may be getting in... hopefully it's just something living under our home (& the sound is coming through) and not in it :o

*KRISTI*
I thought you added a new Avatar too, but just wasn't sure --- I really like the blue, but have no idea what flower that is.

I am so glad your DD enjoys camp so much --- my niece is a camp councilor at a Christian Camp in Maine and she just loves the children and her friends there and really looks forward to going each each year. She grew up going there and is now a councilor there - neat, huh.

Ohhh Kristi, don't be frightened of being so close to your goal --- rejoice in it! I think I remember reading in Dr. Phil's book --- how you think controls what you do --- everything begins with positive thought first and then is followed by action. So you just keep thinking "I am deserving and so worth it" :queen: and you won't need to worry about that 10-15 lbs ever again... maybe a 5 lb + or - which you can keep under control. I am so looking forward to the day that I reach my goal. I am so happy for your girl! You be happy for you ;)
You have worked so hard to get there! :cloud9: :cp:

*LYNNE*
So good to see you!!!
I am glad that you stopped in even if it's brief...

Hey girls! Thanks for all the compliments on my wedding pics -- we were quite impressed with them ourselves. Sunny, I do have some close-up frontal pictures of my dress, I just have to get around to uploading them first. Soon, I promise.

Well, my weekend was a little low on the exercise meter. But I did managed to eat very healthy (low fat, low cal with nothing to drink but water) so I suppose that makes up for it. Then lastnight I joined TOPS so hopefully I'll meet someone there who I can go walking with. :) Trying to stay positive. My WI didn't show any signs of weight-loss so far... but then again, I was just guessing at my current weight before. I knew it was somewhere in the 160-range. I've also only been at this a week now, so I can't really expect to see grand results right away. <--- Although it would be nice if I could!

Thanks, Sunny, for being concerned about just how low my cal. intake is. I am eating several times throughout the day (Spec. K for breakfast, snack of fruit or veggies, light lunch (salad or similar), and a sensible dinner (lastnight included sm. piece of steak, sauteed veggies and brown rice). I haven't yet felt hungry, but if I should ever, I would go grab some fresh cut veggies and munch away. I "save" most of my cals. for dinner so that I can eat a full meal with my family... but again, it's sensible. Low fat, low cal. and unprocessed.

I'm feeling very tired today and am not sure if I will get much exercise in. My dr. has me on some sleeping meds and what was supposed to be a "restful sleep" lastnight resulted in Melissa being awake until 4am. Ack. Then the little boy I take care of showed up at 7:30. Ugh. Hubby was sweet enough to let me stay in bed for an extra hr while he got up to take care of the kids so that helped a little. Tonight will be an early night as I have two kids plus my daughter to take care of tomorrow. Same with Wednesday. Then again, they're only here until 1:30 so I could do my exercise after that...! And I'll have probably caught my second wind by then. :)

Today though, I'm going to do pilates and 50 crunches. We'll see if I have time to fit anything else in. :) I hope you all have a happy healthy day. Good luck with all your daily goals and exercise! :D Type you later!

Good morning to you all,.............Lynne, great to see you back. Can't waite to hear what all you've been up to..............Sheila, Lynne's back yippee lol.............Sunny, Great job getting all that exercise in this morning allready. I talked my hubby into opening the store for me today. That "up and at it" every morn before 6am gets to me. I actually fell back to sleep until after 7:30 and still didn't roll out until 8. By that time the bed was too crowded with little ones to stay in it anyway lol. DS had a game this morning. It didn't go so well. They lost both games. Each game only by 1 run, but they've never lost both before. Yesterday during practice DS got hit by the ball from the pitching machine. He was really gun shy today. Struck out twice and got out at 1st once. Not his usual. I stopped and picked up one of his buddies who doesn't play ball and they're swimming now. It'll still be a good day. Hope you have good hunting (hope it's not a skunk living under there. It could be more than you or Joe bargained for)............I'm planning 3 miles on the rail today.

Thanks Sunny, Cathy, Kristi and Shelia for the warm welcome. I really do appreciate it.

Mel your wedding pictures are lovely!

Cathy - You rock on the exercising. I'm tired just reading about all the exercise you do! How long did it take you to work up to the intensity of your work outs?

I have been doing cardio exercising consistently for about 2 months and 1 week strength training but can still can only do about 2 miles on the treadmill in 45-50 minutes or the WATP 2 miles. My ex-DIL did a work out plan to do cardio for 30 minutes for 6 days a week and to strength train for 5 days a week. I am not use to strength training so it is taking me about 1.5 to 2 hours to exercise. She told me to make sure I try to burn at least 300 calories per work out. I work a 10 hour/4 day work week and have trouble doing the 45-50 minutes on a work day to burn the 300 calories. I get home at 6:15 p.m. and try to fix dinner and do chores around the house. I try to exercise by 10:00 p.m. and be in the bed by 11:00 p.m. I know I can get up earlier, but still struggling with this! Any suggestions on how I can do this?

Well ladies, I must stop here for now! Thanks for all your suggestions in advance!

Have a blessed evening, everyone!

Hey Gang. I haven't fallen off the wagon, just been really busy with a pastor friend of ours that is in from Honduras, and have people staying at my house, so no exercise yesterday or today, but I will get to it.

Brenda, somebody asked me about this today. I have been walking for exercise for almost 15 years, off and on. (I cannot believe it has been that long but it has). Several years ago I found Leslie Sansone's walking tapes and fell in love with them, even tho I still like regular walking too. I don't find what I do all that intense, but the gal I was talking to today could not believe that I do the 3 mile walking tape with 3 lb handweights from start to finish (rather than from the middle like Leslie does), but I do. I don't know I just gradually worked up to that the more I did them. Sometimes it gets to the point that if you don't add the handweights then your heartrate doesn't get up enough to feel like a workout. know what I mean? Of course, I don't do that every day, I just do what I have time to do, the 2 or 3 or 4 mile - whatever. And when I do the 4 mile tape I don't use any weights (yet)! ;)

About suggestions for getting up earlier... I have to be in bed at 10 to get up at 5 and exercise. I also get everything ready the night before - set the alarm, lay the video by the vcr, lay out my walking clothes and tennis shoes, so that I can just slide out of bed and get right into them. no excuses. If I get all that out and ready then I get up and do it. If I'm up really late the night before then I know I won't be able to get up and I don't get everything ready.

You don't have any trouble going to sleep at 11 pm, when you are exercising at 10 pm? I wouldn't be able to go to sleep for hours after exercising but I know a lot of people exercise right before going to bed. I just can't do that. When you go to bed at 11 what time do you get up? if you went to bed at 10 could you get up an hour earlier and exercise then? I know the first few nights it might be hard to fall asleep earlier then 11 if that is what you are use to, but after a few days your body would adjust to it (expecially if you are up an hour earlier and exercising). I sleep so good on the days I exercise. ;)

I don't know if any of this helps, but wanted to at least answer your question.

hugs,
Cathy

Hi *BRENDA*
Good to see you...
I have a schedule very much like Cathy's (only I don't have a job outside our home). I set everything out the night before and I am usually heading for bed by 9:30 and in bed by 10pm... I naturally am awake by 4:30/4:45am --- our alarm doesn't go off till 5:30/6, so if I over sleep I have that. But most times I am up. I like to get my workouts in before my hubby is up, so when he gets up I can enjoy a cup of coffee with him and fix his lunch for him and have chat time. There's not much chatting at night when he comes home, he's so tired... especially after working in the heat we've had these days.

Here's a little tid-bit: I read that if you workout in the mornings you burn more calories and fat then in the evenings --- because you have a full days intake of calories in you when you workout at night, so the body begins to burn that first, but in the morning you have digested all of the calories from the day before, therefore burning more of the stored fat and calories.

I don't know how you work out at night and still sleep well either??? I couldn't. When I use to work for Jazzercise as a registrar I would sometimes workout at 7pm, but just could not fall asleep at night when I got home --- sometimes by 1 or 2am I would finally go to sleep I would be so wound up. I sure couldn't do that today... :^: I'm wishing you well in trying to decide what to do.

*MEL*
Your schedule and meals sound just fine... so many starve and think they will lose weight that way, so I just thought I'd make a mention. I too watch all processed foods. Many do not realized that they are linked to most, if not all, heart attacks and strokes today. And so much of what is on the shelves (& in the store freezers) have it (Hydrogenated & Partially Hydrogenated Oils). I saw this whole program on Discovery Health about it years before it hit the news! So by the time it made the papers and articles in mags. my girlfriend & I were already watching not to buy foods with the processing in the ingred. label at the grocery.

I look forward to seeing more of your wedding pictures

Why are you on sleeping meds, Mel?? Are you not sleeping well at night? I bet it is so hard when you have children... to get that nights sleep you so need. I do hope you begin to feel better real soon! And are able to get a good nights sleep - it makes a world of difference.

*~*~*

I must be going... Joe is home and hungry (me too ;) ).
I am making turkey burgers, tossed balsamic salad, steamed veggies & a baked potatoe for him... simple, but tasty :hun:
TTFN...

Sunny, I totally understand your concern with my low cal. intake. And I thank you (again) for that! :D It's awful that people sometimes think that by starving themselves, they can attain their goal weight. But in fact, the body then goes into starvation-mode and stores everything as fat. I found this out at a very young age. This time around, I just want to eat healthy. :)

Good for you for also keeping away from processed foods. They are really very harmful... regardless of how good they may taste. We're also going to start eating as much organically grown food as possible (we're convinced that that's why children are developing at such an early age... all the hormones that are put into fruits, vegetables and meat).

As for the sleeping meds, indeed, I suffer from insomnia. Have for years. But it has gotten increasingly worse the last few months. Today was hideous -- zero energy, two kids to chase after, the whole bit. I wouldn't be surprised if I passed out in my plate of dinner tonight. Ah well... at least I'd be getting to bed at a decent hour!

I did manage to get my pilates in as well as some weight-training. Not much but it'll have to do for today. I need rest. :( Talk to you girls tomorrow. Hope you're all keeping well! :)

I walked 2 miles on the treadmill tonight and rode the exercise bike 6 miles.

Brenda, The only suggestion I can give you is....make taking care of yourself a PRIORITY. If this means everybody elses supper is an hr later than they're use to, so be it. Make time for YOU!! You are worth it. Good luck............Cathy, Sunny, Mel, As always you guys are doing great and giving really good advice......... Mrs. Beasley, Your numbers are looking great. Keep up the good work!.........No Sheila, tell me it isn't so :( I so look forward to reading your posts. I want to know all about your new boyfriend etc....Maybe you can pop into your local library a couple times a week or something. (just a suggestion, no pressure) If not, please continue to tell us about you even if you can't always keep up with us. We're here for you girl!!.............My life has become NOISEY. The workmen showed up yesterday and started residing my house. I'm so excited. My home has looked like an old farmhouse for so long. Which is what it is. Over a hundred yrs actually. I went with light maple. I'm leaning toward wine colored shutters and doors. Any advice? Due to this I probably won't be doing any strength training for awhile. I only really like to do it around 9am and I'm not going to have them watching me. I'd feel foolish!!! I'm taking the children to the library today so they can use the computers while I walk the trail. Planning 4 miles today........ Have a great day girly girls!!!!!

Thank you for having me! Well I am married (now 1yr. & 7mnths), I don't have any babies and that is really one of the reasons for my determination to lose weight. My husband and I want to start trying to have a baby :bb: next year, and I want to get rid of the weight I have now before I add more on. I eat 3 meals a day along with 2 snacks (no bread, sweets, fast food, or fried anything). I drink so much water I hear the ocean in my ears when I sit down and stand up  ........I work out 6 days a week walking for 30-55 minutes, and I would like to start weight training but my thinking is because of my weight if I start using weights I'm going to bulk up instead of lose, but I could be wrong.....If anyone has some information I could use on weight training it would be greatly appreciated.....

Hi Ladies, hope everyone is having a great day so far.

Thanks to all for responding to my question.

Cathy, I too think that If I don't use weights with WATP tapes that I don't get a good work out. But I really like using the T-Mill, I think I get a better work out.

Sunny, thanks for the tidbit. It make sense.

Yes, sometimes I do have trouble sleeping at night. But have just got use to exercising at night because of time. I am seriously thinking about getting up an hour earlier to exercise. i just have to change my mindset.

Kristi, thanks for you encouragement. I will make taking care of myself a priority. Yes  , I am worth it.

Will walk 2 miles this evening!

Have a great evening!

Hey girlies a quick post from me!! I did 30 minutes of aqua exercise today in our pool. The water was sooo warm and enjoyable I didnt want to get out except I was beginning to shrivel up lol.

Sunny enjoy your supper and way to go on those 3 miles today!! I'm going to do a bike ride after dark when it cools down a little. It was 90 degrees here today!! How is your garden doing? We have beautiful lilys (I think) blooming right now, they are bright orange and tall thick stalks but they are just gorgeous!! Wait til you hear all about the anniversary night I'm planning with DH!! Sooo romantic, I think anyway lol.

Kristi all that remodeling sounds sooo fun!! We are going to be doing some home improvement too when my inlaws are up visiting, we are putting in a privacy fence and a brick patio, plus hubby and FIL are going to frame up the basement for a storage room and seperate laundry room the master bedroom down there is already framed up and has the ingress/egress windows we just need to frame up the bathroom and then the rec room. Its going to be wonderful!! You are soooo close to goal girl I'm excited for you!!!

Sheila - I do hope that you will keep posting even if not regularly with us, I htink you are a great source of inspiration to everyone and I shall miss you if you were to leave us :(

Abirdee - Welcome to the group!! This is an absolutely wonderful group of people and I love them dearly and I'm sure you will too!!!

Vickie you are doing awesome as always!!! I wish I could keep up with you lol this summer is sooo busy and I'm glad about that because I spent all last year in bed pretty much so I'm glad I can take the kids outside to play and to the park, library etc...I'm so glad you are doing so well with your exercise.

Mel - I'm so sorry to hear about your insomnia, I'm the opposite of you lol I can sleep almost any time almost anywhere lol. Way to go with the exercise!!

Cathy - Hey girl!!! I hope all is well with you!! How have you been feeling, thyroid wise? I really need to make an appointment to see the endo I want them to test my T3 and I bet they'll find that I'm deficient with my T3 as well as my free T4 this hormone crap is depressing and I wish I could just have it figured out and be done with it lol. Hubby is getting snipped next month so we won't have to worry about me going on birth control so no more weight gain from BC pills, patches, rings, or shots lol. Thank heavens. We decided that if we want to have another baby down the road that we would adopt a child, and provide a life for it that it may not have otherwise had. Lol sorry for going off on a tangent.

Well I better get going I need to eat some supper! I will ttyl!!

Evening all!

As usual I really didn't feel much like exercising but then I read everyone else's posts and decided to do something.
So I walked 2mi. on the tm and hit the bike for 6mi.

Totals for July: 9 miles walking, 24 miles biking.

Now if I could just get a handle on the eating. I tend to be obsessive/compulsive. I either am obsessively exercising or complusively eating. Right now it's eating and not exercising and gaining weight. Oh well, I'll just have to keep trying. :dizzy:

You all seem to be doing great --- keep it up!!!! Have a good night!

OOPS! I almost forgot the most important thing of all - guess what! I have lost 5 lbs in a week since starting the phentermine! :D I don't think I have ever lost 5 lbs in a week in my whole entire life! I am so thrilled! I know its probably just water, but I don't care, my scale has moved down 5 lbs! yippeee! I know (and understand why) people don't like diet pills, but I'm afraid it was the BOOST that I needed. I think that they speed up my very slow metabolism, and they enable me to keep my calories at 1000 calories a day (rather than 1200) and that seems to be the number for me to lose a few pounds - even tho I was beginning to wonder if anything was gonna make that happen. But still......down 5 lbs!

Michelle - I almost forgot to answer your question. Thyroid wise (low thyroid symptons) I seem to be feeling much better, less brain fog, fatigue, hairloss, body temperature is up, etc. All of that is better, but I just wasn't losing any weight, and that is why I wanted my doc to up the Armour Thryoid to 3 grains a day (instead of 2) thinking I would continue to feel better and maybe get things up to whatever they needed to be to lose some weight. But I do feel so much better then I did in October when I started on thryoid meds - wow - what a difference it makes.

If you T3 is still low, you may need Armour Thyroid since it treats the T3 and T4. If I remember right, the med you are taking mostly works on the T4. I'm sure you will talk to your doc about everything.

how are you feeling?

hugs,
cathy

Hey girls... I hope you're all having a happy and healthy day today! :D It's day 9 of my Get Healthy kick and I'm really feeling better. Not so sluggish. Tummy's feeling tighter. Skin's looking clearer (must be all that water I've been drinking!). The insomnia continues but as I'm adjusting to the meds, I've been getting a few more hrs of sleep a night. Still feeling wonky during the night though... had to wake DH up to help me to the bathroom around 4am this morning (was certain I would have fallen over otherwise! :dizzy: ). Ah well. I'm sure it'll get better each and every day. I hope so, anyway.

I haven't walked in a few days... but will tonight when hubby gets home from work. I have been doing my ab work outs and some upperbody weight training though so I haven't totally abandoned my exercising. :) Not sure if I've lost any weight, I guess I'll find out on Monday at my TOPS meeting.

-------------------------------------------
Cathy: Congrats on the loss of 5lbs! That's awesome! WTG! :D

Abirdee: 2miles yesterday, 3 today! That rocks! Keep up the great work! And in no time, you'll reach your goal! :)

Mrs. Beasley: You're doing fabulously with all your exercising! I know what it's like to go from one extreme to the other (either exercising all the time or eating all the time) -- it's difficult at best. Good luck with your weight-loss journey!

Michele: Sounds like you had a great work-out in your pool! Fabulous! I've been thinking about joining aqua-arobics myself but then I start to cringe at the mere thought of myself in a bathing suit. :o Oh dear. Anyway, keep up the good work! :)

Sunny: Yup, unfortunately I'm still not sleeping well... even with my exercising. Not really sure what's up with that. I thought I'd be sleeping better too, once I got exercising. But no such luck. Any suggestions? <--- I'm willing to try just about anything... even standing on my head, if it were to work! ;)

Kristi: Keep up the good work, girl! You're so busy, but always find time for exercise... that rocks! Just how do you manage?

To everyone else, I hope you're all keeping well! :)

Have a great day, girls!

Also got in a 2mi. watp.

July totals: 13mi. walked, 29mi. on the bike.

Michelle --- don't you just hate it when the scale just seems to stop moving -- don't get discouraged.

macdeez -- way to go on 9 days of living healthy!

abirdee -- sounds like you've been having a good month -- it's very encouraging for the rest of us -- thanks.

Hope everyone else is doing well also. I may try to get a few miles more walked tonight -- we'll see.

Hey girlies!!

Sunny - Yep my flowers look just like those but a brilliant shade of orange!! I have some purple flowers blooming and they kind of look like they are on a stalk but I don't know what they are lol!! We keep our lawn neat and trim so I'm pleased even if we don't have flowers but next year hubby and I are going to build brick flowerbeds along the walk way and driveway it should be very nice :)

Vickie way to go on the exercise!! You are doing awesome!! Yes I am frustrated with the scale and sometimes I think it is broken lol!! It always stays the same no matter if I have clothes on or not or if I just drank a gallon of water lol perhaps it is broken who knows I'll just tough it out a bit :)

I spent 4 hours in the pool today and I am sooo exhausted now so I'm off to bed early!!

Have a wonderful evening everyone :)

Michelle,

you know you have lost 30 lbs and that is a lot of weight to lose. I would think that your body is having to adjust to the weightloss.

I know meridia is MUCH more expensive then the phentermine, but if you have insurance paying for it, that may not matter. Someone on the yahoo thyroid group told me that their doc has them taking phentermine 5 days on and 2 days off, so that she does not get use to it. If you feel like you are getting use to the meridia, you might ask your doc if perhaps that would work with the meridia.

But please don't get discouraged! You have lost a lot of weight and are doing great! I'm sure your body is just trying to catch up with everything.

cathy

Oh my gosh!!! My posts yesterday wouldn't go through. I don't know if it was my server or what so bear with me girls I'm going to go one post at a time and reply, because I don't want to miss a thing.....Abirdee, Adding weights is a terrific idea. There's really no need to worry about "bulking up". It takes heavy weights and alot of determination to make big muscles. I'd suggest light weights (3 - 10 #) 2 to 3 sets of 8 to 12 repititons. Good luck! Muscle burns way more calories than fat.........Brenda, That a girl, always remember your worth it..............Sunny, Right back at you girlfriend. I would not have the legs to stand on that I do on this mission without all of you. God is so good, He's so good to me..................Michelle, It's great to hear from you. The remodeling is a lot of fun. My SIL keeps telling me how we could've done it cheeper ourselves yada yada, but for me it's easier to hire it one. Me and hubby just get done what needs to be done lol. Your basement sounds awesome. Are those the type of windows where they dig out part of your lawn so you actually have lrg windows that let in a lot of light. I love those. Hope all goes well for you. 30# down!! You'll keep going down. Just hang in there. We're here cheering you on!!............Mrs. Beasly, You hang in there too girl. You've lost 43 POUNDS!!!!! That's so totally awesome. If you journal check and see what's maybe going on that your eating and exercising differently thatn in the past. If you don't journal I totally suggest you start. Many times it's been my window to my mistakes and the jolt I've needed to get back on track. You'll figure it out and everything will click again. Don't despair. Chin up feet forward ( preferably one right after the other lol ). Great job getting all those miles in. Me thinks you're doing a-ok!!...........Cathy, Yeah!! 5 # gone. YGG!!.............Mel, Good luck at your TOPS meeting. I'm sorry to hear you're taking something that makes you wonky. It must be very unsettling. Thanks for the cudos..it's taken a long time, but I'm willing now to carve out some time most days when I just tell everyone bye bye. I'm going now. You're on your own for an hr. It works. ( most days lol )..........to be continued :)

I'm back, Sunny, The guys are doing a great job. All the insulation is hung and the windows are all just about wrapped. It looks so much better allready. We had our roof done last spring and my flowers got squashed :( , but they all came back this yr :) good luck. Great job getting your curves and walking in............As for me no exercise yesterday, but very active and very hungry. My body has been totally wanting more food this week. I've given in, but with the understanding what I eat still needs to be healthy and I was pleasantly surprised that I'm still at 133# even though I've literally eaten hundreds more cals every day this week. I want to share something with any of you that suffer from pains in your joints. A few weeks back I read a book called "Super Foods" It was written by a Dr. etc... if you want more info I'll share it Anyway, of course one of the foods he encouraged you to eat 3 - 4 times / wk was seafood, especially salmon. For 2 wks in a row I ate one 14.5 oz can of the canned stuff over 4 different meals (the book had said the omega 3's really help keep joints well lubricated) and by the 2nd week I noticed my knee only bothered a tiny bit and only if I ran and it was not waking me up in the night at all. Same went for my achey brachey hips that normally wake me every night. Ok, long story shorter. I've eaten no salmon this wk and last night I hardly slept all three areas just ached something fierce. So, for me it's back to salmon. That's my tip for the day!!! Yippe!!! I get to pich up DD from Bible camp today. our 50 chix and 1 rooster arrived in the mail this morning. The children are so excited. The chickies are so cute. They're just busy all the time. Loads of fun to watch, but yes, we plan to eat 30 of them. The other 20 are layers. mmmm fresh eggies. Good thing cholesterol doesn't scare me lol Loads of ball this week and even more next due to tournaments, but then we're free. Thankfully! I'm starting to worry my butts gonna have those little bleacher lines on it forever. "bleacher butt" hmmmm there's a thought. I feel goofy today lol I hope you do too. Planning 2 miles Have a great weekend ladies!!

Mornin' girls! I hope you're all off to a happy and healthy start today! :goodvibes And that you're all on your way to meeting your daily goals! :)

Me? Well. Hmmm. Haven't eaten breakast yet... but I've only been up for an hr so after this post I shall waddle my way into the kitchen and wrestle me up some grub! Didn't manage to get my walk in lastnight -- hubby and I finished watching "Monster" (amazingly twisted movie!) and then it was off to bed. I did find time to get all my other exercising in though. Tonight, we'll walk. For sure. I'm feeling a little stressed out (work issues! ) so I could really use a nice brisk get-those-endorphins-going walk! I'd do so this afternoon but DH forgot to remove the stroller from the back of the truck. Argh.

Not doing strength-training today... just going to get that nice hr. long walk in and eat sensibly. Food and beverages are great... I'm staying around the 1000cal. mark and haven't had anything to drink besides water for the last week. I'm adjusting to the meds now... got my second night of decent sleep so that's good. 'bout dang time!

Anyways, I gotta go get some breakfast in me, but take care, ladies! Good luck today! :D :D :D

Abirdee, I haven't done step aerobics in over a yr. that sounds like fun. Have to think about squeezing that in again one of these days..............Mel, It sounds like you're off and running...........DD came home yesterday. She was so excited about the change in the house and the arrival of the baby chicks. I'm dog sitting for my SIL "baby". It's a peakashoo or something like that. A little lap dog anyway. It's so spoiled it drives me crazy. Well, he wasn't spoiled last night. There was a feral cat around again yesterday so I left Budger and my dog Reggie in the feed mill with the new chicks to keep them safe. That dog was all dusty and just as happy as could be when I went out there this morning. I think it felt great to him to finally live like a DOG. lol Well, life's back to normal with oldest child home again. The littler ones are whiny lol It's funny how when just 1 child, any 1, goes away the other 3 get along great!! I wish someone would figure out what the dynamics behind that is. Anyway, I have no idea what type of exercise I'm going to do today. Walk or ride bike? I'll post later when I know!! HAve a terrific weekend!!

I skipped church today and them turned around and had a fight with my mom, so I need to get going and making this a better day. DH built a chix coop for our new babies and he and the children painted it this morning. Now it's my turn to get busy and make them all brkfst. Planning 3 miles today.

Ended up doing 2 walking miles on the trail and then 3 bike miles. Both were a really good time. When I walked my 7 y/o DD and 4 y/o DS were both on their bikes. We walked to the park and played with some other children. We even walked up the street and got a pop. What a treat for us all. I allow so little soda any more. My bike ride was with my 7 y/o. She always makes a bike ride so much more fun. She stopped and ate raspberries (what few the deer had left lol ) and we picked wild flowers all the way home. When I made her boquet for her I counted 21 different types of flowers!!! It's just amazing on the bike trail this time of year. I swear every year there are more varieties. There were at least 10 other types we didn't pick, because they were too far off the trail to get. She just loves them. So, I never broke much of a sweat, but I believe God intended for us to exercise with children. I rarely smile when I exercise alone (until I'm done lol) and I never stop to "smell the flowers" forbid my heart rate might go down lol. So, I'm changing my numbers and hoping you stopped to enjoy your world today as well. Happy Sunday!

Good Morning :coffee: ,

How was everyone's weekend? Mine was very productive, I worked out everyday this weekend. I have my one month weigh in on 07/21/04, and so I'm really pumped. I have a question for anyone, some days I step on the scale and it will give me one weight, and other days another weight. Can anyone explain the reason why? Also, I can see a change in my body but the scale is not showing that. Help me understand! :gossip:

Hey girls! I hope you all had a happy, healthy weekend! :D I did ok... stayed on track except for a few bites of hubby's chocolate cake. Mmm! It was worth having to exercise more for! :p Went for a couple of long walks on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon... the weather had cooled down to a comfortable warmth and I could have walked forever if we didn't have to get DD home to bed. We also hit the beach on Sunday and for the first time in..... um.... eleven years I wore a bathing suit without caring who was looking at me. So I paddled around for a couple hours in the lake... it was so refreshing. Again I could have stayed forever... had the rain clouds not rolled in. Ack.

Tonight is WI and I'm hoping for some change in numbers... but am a little nervous that there won't be. Hubby says he can already see a difference "as there's not as much to hold onto". Amazingly enough I took that more as a compliment than an insult.

All else is good. Food has been great (again with exception to the small sampling of choc. cake). Water has been great too. Still feeling great, I'm just worried that the scale won't show any difference in weight. Wish me luck tonight, girls!

I hope you all had as good a weekend as I did! Keep up the good work, ladies! Type you all later!

Good day ladies,.............Cathy, as always you're rockin' girl..............Michelle, What a beautiful family you have. Great job getting in all that exercise as well.............Abirdee, My suggestion would be to weigh at the same time wearing the same thing every time. Our water weight fluctuates tremendously throughout the day. As an example, I get up, use the rest room, get dressed, and then weigh myself. If have even 2 cups of coffee (no food at all) I can go in and weigh even 2# more like only a half hr after weighing the first time. So, you'll never catch this girl on the scale anyway but empty 1st thing in the morn. Good luck on the 21st.............. Mel, great job staying OP this weekend. I'm sure your numbers will show good results for you you've been working very hard. Do you do your measurments at all. Sometimes with exercise you notice smaller numbers on the tape measure when you don't quite see them on the scale yet. Anyway, good luck!!.............I had a really busy morn running my children to so many activities, but did have an hr when I could leave 2 of them at ball and the other 2 at the library. So I got to slip onto the trail and get in 3 miles. I'm so glad, because there really be no more time today for me!!!! Have a good one ladies

Good Morning Gals!
Hope you all had a great weekend... ours was busy as usual. I took some time off from scheduled exercise over the weekend, but got right back into the swing of things yesterday. I walked 2 Miles yesterday and 2 Miles today and went to Curves this morning. Saturday morning we met our friends for breakfast; then went grocery shopping... my goodness the $$ I spend now that my hubby come with me! He adds things to the shopping cart all the time  But he's not nearly as bad as my girlfriends hubby! She ends up spending at least $50 - $60 more when he shops with her  Then when we got home we had allot of little things to get done in the yard and around the house while we had a chance in between the raindrops... On Sunday we went to church and then out to breakfast with our friends (it's tough but someone's gotta do it ;) ); then when I got home I made up a Fruit Salad to bring to a Birthday Bar-B-Q that afternoon. We had such a nice evening I hated to leave... And yesterday --- laundry day. Need I say more... ... I cannot believe what two people can put out in laundry! But we both workout everyday... so there ya are :D

:bravo: to all you gals and your exercise!!!
Everyone is doing so well - you should all be so proud of your efforts!
:cp: :cheer:

I just love, love, love your pictures! You have a very beautiful family and they all looked like they were having such a nice time in the park. Thanks so much for sharing them with us --- I just love pictures.

*CATHY*
I think 4 hours of cleaning should be included in your exercise program... *whew* I was tired just thinking of all the cleaning you did...

And you are doing wonderful in keeping your exercise routine going :cp:

*KRISTI*
How are you doing? Is everything okay with you and mom?

Sounds like you had your hands full this weekend with the new chicken coup... how many little chicks do you have? My nephew has a coup and we love it when he lets a few of the eggs hatch... they are adorable! And your day with your children --- how beautiful! The joy they bring into your life --- keep that in mind each time someone (mother ;) ) tries to steal your joy away from you.

*ABIRDEE*
That happens to me more then you know!!! If I don't drink enough water or get enough sleep I will hold water and it will show on the scale. Also, if I introduce a new workout and the muscles have to adjust I see it on the scale... so I have to keep that in mind when I notice a pound or two (sometimes up to 4!) in a day! That's why I only weigh in once a week (usually on Tuesday's) and won't change my graph till I am sure... I'd be going up & down all the time :dizzy: So until I go down and stay there for a bit I leave it be and just keep on working out --- it's gotta show up sometime... right :?: I remember the last time I complained that the scale wasn't moving and just kept working out --- then one day (after several weeks!) I saw 4 lbs. come off and that was with muscles toning, I was happy. So that's what I hold on to now as I don't see changes on the scale, but I do in my shape and in clothing, not to mention how much better I feel.

Hang in there girl!!! It will come off

*MEL*
So good to hear that you are staying OP... my girlfriend and I were just chatting this morning about how tough summers are with our programs --- grad parties, Bar-B-Q get-together's, Weddings... it ain't easy! We don't know what's worse... summer or holiday's  Both! It is a continuous effort... ...

How did your weigh-in go Mel?? Are you okay?

*JANINE*
Great job on your swimming --- it is so good for you.

*VICKI*
Thumbs up on those miles you are walking, not to mention the great job on that biking!!

Hope that the rest of you are staying OP and feeling well... *Thinking of you*

Janine, Cathy, and Mrs. B Keep up the great work!!...............Sunny, Wow! You had a great weekend. All the time spent with friends sounds so lovely. I was just complaing to Charlotte that I need to carve some fun time out for me and the hubby, but the kids ballgames are just taking up too much time. I hate to admit it, but I don't care to watch another game for awhile lol We have 53 little chicks. They are so much fun to watch. They're just busy all the time. 30 of them will only be around for about 2 mths (if you know what I mean), but the rest hopefully will provide us with fresh eggs for some time to come. As for me and my mom, I know I don't handle things right and that I need to focus on the positive that she's done for me, but.......I need to pray much harder and find a way to let it go. Sometimes I think I have it all under control and past all of it and then the anger and dissapointment creeps back into my life little by little. I guess in that the key words are "under control" I need to quit controlling my emotions and let them GO!! Thanks so much for listening. I appreciate it so. Great job on your exercising. I hope your having a wonderful day!............Sheila, A huge congrats on the loss WTG girl....what kind of TM did you buy? (when my DH put mine together I ended up leaving the room lol) Send your niece a big cheer form me as well. Go team go! I would love to meet your walking buddy. It sounds as though she could teach me a thing or two. Oh, as for the chicks.......I like them best grilled with a little lime juice spritzed on top lol lol lol. You're doing awesome girl. I'll look forward to your next post.............As for me busy busy with ball this week. All 3 children are involved in 3 different tourneys this week. Wed, Thur, and Fri Thankfully the season is done then other than a fun day in Aug. I'm planning an UB w/o today and some miles on the trail. I should walk or I won't make my July goal, but I feel like riding bike. As for my goals drum roll please....I've lost the 3 pounds I wanted to this month. I know 3# isn't much in a mth but I'm aiming low these days. Just trying to make it to the finish line. Thanks for all your support. I'll post my miles later.

DH & DS #1 are still at camp so it's just DS #2 and myself and I don't feel like cooking. I wanted to get the grass cut but it is raining yet again. I hope everyone had a wonderful day! First of all I just wanted to say thank you to SunnyD and Shelia for your advice, but just because the scale doesn't show the numbers going down, my clothes do. Shelia, I need some your enthusiasm to rub off on me today.

I am a little disappointed today. :( It has been 2 months since I have taken my measurements. And decided to take measurements over the weekend and have gained 2 inches in my calves. I lost an inch all over except for my calves and thighs. I thought when you added weights that you lost inches faster. I also have not lost any weight but have maintained the same weight for 3 weeks. I am stuck at 197. What is going on?

On Monday, I started exercising in the morning before work (thanks Sunny & Cathy on this suggestion) instead of at night. I am sleeping much better. Hopefully this will hellp.

Just kind of got discouraged after taking measurements and got off track and really didn't workout or eat like I should. I walked 1 mile on Sat. and did not exercise at all on Sun. or yesterday. I walked 2 miles on this morning and plan on doing 1 mile when I get home from work. I guess I will try to increase the cardio.

Congratulations :cp: Abirdee. Way to Go!!!

Hi  Cathy, Sunny and to all the other ladies. Hope you are having a blessed day so far.

Well time for me to get back to work!

Brenda, this is for you:

"Stick to it"

Stick to your task till it sticks to you;
Beginners are many, but enders are few
Honor, power, place and praise
Will always come to the one who stays.

Stick to you tasks till it sticks to you;
Bend at it, sweat at it, smile at it too;
For out of the bend and the sweat and the smile
Will come life's victories, after a while

I read this somewhere and thought that it may help you. Don't give up no matter what because remember you are worth it......."If you think you are beaten, you are;
If you think you dare not then you don't; If you'd like to win, but think you can't
It's almost certain, you wont".......

I hope you have a blessed day!

Wow, a lot has happened in a couple days! :D Congrats to everyone on their success... you all are doing such an awesome job staying OP! You really help motivate me to keep going and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your kindness and inspiration! :strong:

Before I forget, a BIG welcome to Wendy! You'll find a great bunch of ladies here! And I'm looking forward to getting to know you better! Best of luck in your weight loss journey! :D

I don't have time right now to check-in with each of you personally... my 2 y/o is dragging out every single piece of Tupperware I own. But I wanted to let you guys know that WI went ok. Down a pound and a half which is better than nothing, I suppose. I'm actually thinking that I've lost more but am retaining some water. WI next Monday should hopefully show a bigger difference. :crossed:

Anyways girls, best of luck today! :D

Swam again today. It felt so good as it's awful hot out and will be for the rest of the week. Had quite a workout swimming width laps till the kids went to play water polo then I joined in as someone had to hold my little guy. It was loads of fun but also quite a workout running back and forth. Plan is to swim Thurs and Fri as well!!! Please let this get me motovated to get on my treadmill when swim is done in just over 3 weeks.

Good Morning Ladies!

Abirdee, I am not giving up. I'm hanging in there. Thanks for the encouragement. I appreciated it! I got on the scale this morning and down 2 pounds!

Well, I didn't do the 1 mile as planned on yesterday evening. I had company and they didn't leave until late. I will definitely do 2 miles today.

Have a blessed day ladies!

 Good Afternoon Gals

Thanks *CATHY* for all the support about the roofing, but alas it has been delayed another day because of rain... they might be here this afternoon, but we were told that it will be tomorrow for sure and the weather is promising. It is suppose to clear up and even the humidity will be allot less --- better for the roofers, they'll be happier if it's not so hot & wet ;)

I didn't get in the 2 miles I said I would yesterday, just got so caught up in getting the house cleaned (detailing), but I did this morning: 2.25 Miles & Curves (40min toning).

*~*~*

*ABIRDEE*
I liked that *Stick to it* poem you posted :)
Great job on your 2 miles yesterday --- luck in getting a bit further today.

*BRENDA*
Congrats on your 2 lb loss!!!!
Good for you in hanging in there --- see :D

*WENDY*
Good for you getting into the pool for 20 min... it's a great start!

Hi *MEL*
Having some hectic days are ya ;)
It's always good to see you pop in...

Hi *JANINE*
Thumbs up on your swimming!

Okay... Where's our cheerleader:cheer:? *KRISTI*
Are you okay? How's that house coming along? I like the color of dark green too, but wine is very beautiful also --- they both look great against the cream.

*SHEILA*
I take gobs of vitamins too --- I always have, some family members tease me about taking them. I take something at all my main meals - breakfast, lunch & dinner and a fiber tablet at bedtime. I think they are very beneficial in many ways.

Congrats on your new T-Mill!!!!! :cp:
I see that your sweetie  lent you a helping hand... I take it that it all went well? ;) So how many miles have you walked on the new T-Mill? I just love mine! Well... ... some days more then others  I pretty much walk on it now all the time. I found that the T-Mill seems to work you harder because it is more consistent, so if I do any outdoor walking it is just for the extra exercise. Enjoy! :)

Swam again today. Day 4 in a row. I am very pleased about that and plan to swim again tomorrow. After we got home I sat down and read the mail and papers then went out and cut some grass. Man was it hot out there. Only cut the main part in front of the house and had to call it quits. Was feeling lightheaded from the heat and in desperate need of some water. Came in, grabbed a bottle of water and flicked on the ceiling fan then sat down at the puter. Downed that bottle of water in about 10 minutes and have about 2 swiggs left of my second bottle. When that is done I have to figure out what to fix for supper.

A very Good Morning to all you Gals ~

Yes, I did enjoy the "Never Quit Pledge" Thanx *ABIRDEE*

http://www.ecardgallery.com/ecards/friendship/bcsyrspctme08/div.gif

I went to Curves this morning, but am waiting to get in my walk today. Don't know what the day has in store for us with Joe home the roofers coming... are they coming? Or not? Very unpredictable I am finding out... I sure do hope this doesn't become a horror story  :^:

Joe (& I) had a sleepless night last night... Joe has not been very well the last couple days - dizzy and headaches. And last night I rolled over to give him a hug and boy was he HOT (!) he ran a fever of 101.3* (I think it could be a bug) and so I got up to give him an aspirin and within a couple hours he was drenched - the aspirin helped him sweat it out. The fever is gone this morning, but he still has a headache. So he is staying home today from work and is off again on Monday for a dental appointment we both have --- just cleaning. Poor guy has sure had his fair share of illness lately --- he goes for a Sleep Apnea Sleep Study on August 11th. His Dr. doesn't think he is sleeping well at night, making him vulnerable to bugs going around. And being he works in grocery stores there's allot to be caught just off the cart handles alone :o

Guess what... I started on L-Acidophilus capsules a week ago (a good bacteria for the intestines you get from yogurt if you can eat yogurt) and am feeling so much better (I have severe IBS problems - can not tolerate any dairy products). My mother told me about it and what a lifesaver it has been for me! I am not in pain on a daily basis anymore and get so much done in a day - it's amazing. My energy level has picked up and my intestines have calmed down allot from all the spasms. Just thought I would mention it because so many suffer with IBS these days.

Well, I really must be going... and go see what the hubby is up to.
You all have a Wonderful Weekend in case I don't make it back on till Monday :grouphug:

*God Bless*

Good Morning Gang!

I haven't been on the internet much. I'm having major problems with my computer at work! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr had to uninstall my McAfee AntiVirus, and try to take care of some problems it caused when the program got messed up while downloading upgrades. Then yesterday I spent the afternoon trying to load Norton Antivirus and there must have been a glitch on the disk! grrrrrrrrrrrrr It is so aggravating when computers don't work right. I think I'm gonna have to get a computer expert in here next week to help me get rid of a few glitches.

Anyway, I did not exercise yesterday morning or today, but I will make up for it tomorrow.

Hope everybody has a great day.

Good Morning Ladies,

I didn't work out yesterday, because my husband is on vacation and is always ready to go, go, go. Today I will be back on track...

Quote for today:

You're good, but you're going to be great. You're the best, but you're going to get better. Sometimes the paths we take are long and hard, but remember: those are always the ones that lead to the most beautiful views. Chanllenges come along, inevitably; how you respond to them determines who you are-deep down inside-and everything that you're going to be.......

I hope everyone has a blessed day!

Yesterday was good -- did strength-training and got my evening walk in. I even managed to fit into my favorite pants (even with my monthly bloating) so I imagine I have lost more that what the scale currently shows. :) That definitely makes me a happy camper! I'm also starting to see shape in my figure again... instead of it being a column of chub, there's a slight hour-glass shape taking form. YAY! :cb:  :cb:

We went out for dinner lastnight (to WhiteSpot) and I truly enjoyed their low cal/low fat chicken burger and side salad! I didn't even sample DD's chocolate ice-cream (I normally would). :)

Today, I'm taking DD for a walk and then to the park to play. Then when she's napping I'll do more strength-training and head out for our evening walk after dinner.

I can't remember when I last felt this good...! Perhaps I never have. I've always been self-conscious, especially about my body but that's finally starting to turn itself around. :)

Sounds as though you've all been doing great, staying OP! :) Great work, ladies!!! You're all doing fabulously! :D

----------------------------
Abirdee... Thanks for all the motivational quotes/poems! They really help me to stick with things! Keep up the good work, and I'm certain you'll reach your goal in no time!

Sunny... I hope Joe feels better soon! It's an awful time being sick in the summer when it's already so uncomfortable temperature-wise. Let us know how his sleep-apnea tests go! I also hope your roofers show up on the scene today! Geez, what an ordeal hey? Ugh! Have a great weekend!

Wendy... I hope you have a great time at the wedding! :) Let us know how your weekend went!

Janine... Wow! You're doing great what with all that swimming you've been doing! Rock on!

Cathy... Sorry to hear that your comp. is "glitchy". I certainly know what that's like! Oy. Anyway, I hope you have a happy and healthy weekend! :)

To everyone else, a big hello!

Well, I hope you all have a great weekend! :) Type you all later....!

Guess what happened today! :?: !

I called today to speak with Mel - the guy that was taking care of EVERYTHING with setting up the roofers and their schedule - and Tammy answered and you could tell she had been crying... Mel died last night :o :( and they don't even know how or why yet. The company workers are devastated! Mel was the nicest guy!! To make a long story as brief as possible --- now we don't know "when" a crew will be here. It's okay and we totally understand that they cannot help when death happens, so we'll work with the company as best we can too. We already have the supplies - we just need the crew. The new guy taking over Mel's job, Ken, is doing the best they can to figure out the schedule, but Mel did it all and no one else knows where the crews are to be. So now Ken needs to take the weekend and figure things out. He is going to call us on Monday after 12:00 and let us know where we stand. Isn't it so very sad  Mel was only in his late 50's! So now we'll just wait :^: it all out and hope that it all works out for everyone... my heart just goes out to them all and to Mel's family --- I just couldn't imagine.

Seee... you don't need to see it in weight-loss, but do see it in inch-loss. I too see it in my shape (not to mention how good I feel) and not so much in wt-loss. Good for you!!!! I am so very happy for you, I really am! :)

Thanks so much for the well-wishes for my Joe. He is resting now on his new hammock with his buddy Zeppe. He is still running a low grade fever, but he's already feeling better then he was --- thanks again :^:

Keep up the great job! :smug:

So good to hear from you and to hear such great news!
Congrats to your DD's team! :cp:

It really helps to hear other stories as well......Wow! Your post from the 21st is awesome :goodvibes :goodvibes This journey we are on is about SO MUCH MORE than the size we wear. Guaranteed :flow1: .....Abirdee :flame: :dancer: :flow2: What else can I say? You are on fire WTG Also, thanks for the great poems.......Cathy, as always great job on the exercise. Your computer sounds like ours 2 wks ago grrr. How are your new meds working for you? Last, but not least. :sunny: Welcome Wendy. The more the merrier and a merrier group you will not find. These ladies will push, pull, drag, and even carry you down this road with their many words of wisdom and encouragement. I don't know what I'd do without them  You keep drinking that H2O girl. It cures most that ailes you (even your skin) My DH always teases I should find a way to drag a port-o-potty with me, but I tease back that I get a lot of exercise walking around trying to find the rest room  .........As for me, it's definitely been all about the kids this week and probably for this next as well. Baseball is done though now we will get through VBS and then Aug is pretty free. I ate few too many hot dogs and treats from the concession stand yesterday. I did really good planning earlier in the wk, but yesterday I just kind of gave up. I'll have to work hard to hit my walking goal for July, but since I got in some bike riding I'm going to cut myself some slack. I can walk all yr round, but here in WIS you only get a few good bike riding months a yr. My siding is looking great. The guys are doing a terrific job. I got new brass light fixtures for my porches and new posts and railings as well. (wooden spindle type) I plan to paint those white and the porch floors (cement) dark green. I'm so excited. When I drive by I can't believe it's my house :dizzy: Have a great weekend my friends.

The weekend is going well so far. Went to a car-show lastnight and did a fair bit of walking. Today there's a children's festival being held downtown so again, lots of walking. :) Food has been good. Nothing bad has touched my lips in.... hmmm.... a week! Yay for that! Tomorrow is WI and I'm definitely hoping to see some sort of difference in my numbers. It's great to have my fav. pants fit (which puts me down one size from when I started), but I guess I put too much emphasis on how much I actually weigh as opposed to what size I am. :?: Oh well. I figure if I keep eating right and exercising, the scale will eventually show some sign of shrinkage.

Kristi... As always you're a busy-bee! Glad to hear that the reno's are coming along nicely! I'd love to see "before and after" pics of your house once all is complete! :) Indeed, I'm a little nuts to do WI immediately following the weekend, but since that's when my TOPS chapter meets, I really have no choice. And I figure it this way, it gives me an incentive to stay OP on the weekend. :) Hope you have a great week!

Sunny... I'm sorry to hear about the situation surrounding the roofers. That's horrible that Mel died at such a young age! :( My thoughts are with you all! :)

Cathy... Congrats on today's exercise! I often wonder, just where do you find that energy of yours?! ;)

To everyone else... I hope you all have a happy and healthy week! Type you all later! Take care, ladies!

Good morning gals, I wish I could say MY eating has been good, but the truth is I've been awful for 3 days in a row. Just plain lazy is the problem. I have plenty of yummy fruits and veggies in the house, but have been ignoring the veggies completely!! I keep saying tomorrow I'll dice and chop etc..... well ladies, tomorrow I am going to........Cathy, Off to Sun School? Do you teach or attend an adult class? I've taught 7th and 8th grades for 5 yrs running. Before that it was 6th. I'm backing down to 5th and 6th this yr. In all honesty last yrs 8th grade class did me in. 2 yrs of them was all I could take and I could really feel the burn out coming. My DD will be in the 5th grade this yr and I've never taught any of my own children. It should be interesting. I know what I want it to be like, but reality.......... any way great job on getting your exercise in. Our church is 5 miles from home so I packed my bike in the back of the van and road home from church. My family likes it when I do this. It doesn't seem like I leave them to exercise that way, I just get home a few min later than they do!!!............Mel, The way I've been eating this weekend I'm thinking of putting my WI on Mon as well. Yesterday I started the book Operah and her traier Bob Greene put out some yrs back. He actually says to make Mon WI day just for the reason you pointed out. Much more insentive to stay OP through the weekend. In the book Operah says to lose the weight and keep it off you have to learn to treat yourself as good as you do the other people in your life. That's making me think. Today for lunch I had just pasta. It was delicious, but I had nothing else. I would never have company and serve them just a main dish. I would've made a beautiful salad and served fresh fruit with yummy whole grain bread. Why didn't I treat myself as well hmmmm something to think about girls. Have a great weekend.

Kristi, I'm sorry to hear that the last few days have been a little tough, food-wise! I hope tomorrow will be better for you! I know it's hard sometimes to grab something nutritional when you're on the run so much... but like you said, fruits and veggies are great convenience foods as well. :) I find myself snacking on watermelon almost constantly... it's so refreshing and sweet! I get my sugar fix on something healthy... what a concept! I'm glad you picked up Oprah's book and have had some great realizations come from reading it! And I agree that you should treat yourself the way you would others. Bit of a digression here but... I once read somewhere "You wouldn't tell your bestfriend that she was fat... or stupid... or ugly, so why tell yourself that?" and it dawned on me that I put myself last on the list. Oy. Anyway... good for you for getting yourself back OP... and for joining me on Monday WI's! :D

Today was a bit of a victory for me... fit into my size 12 shorts! And could even pull them off without undoing the button or zipper! Yay for that! I'm happy to finally see some sort of change in numbers... where I was a size 15 when I started (beginning of July), I'm now a size 12! Fricken amazing! :D My birthday is in a few weeks and I'm hoping to be down to a size 9/10. That would be the best birthday present I could ever give myself!

Anyways girls, I'm off to the lake with DH and DD! But I'll be back tomorrow! Hope you're all having a wonderful weekend! :D

Thanks for the sympathy Mel, I took some much needed time with my journal last night and reaffirmed my commitment to ME. I'm pumped and ready to finish the month with a bang. If I walk 3 miles a day and strenght train 4 more times I can reach each of my goals for the month. The strength may not have been on Mon and Wed like planned, but at least I will have 8 times. I'm really happy for your success as well. At feels great to go down in sizes. I'm sure you'll get into a 9/10 soon...........I walked 2 miles last eve.

Good morning Ladies! I hope you all had a great weekend.

Sunny - I'm so sorry to hear about Mel. Such a young age. My thoughts and prayers are with you and his family. I hope Joe starts feeling better soon. I'm glad your feeling better on your medication.

Kristi - I have found I feel better and I'm more focused when I journal. You are doing so good. I'm with you that I am doing this for ME and no one else.

Cathy - good job on walking 2 miles. Your doing good! Keep it up!

Well I went to a wedding this weekend. The groom was a fraternity brother of my husband's. It was a pretty wedding but kinda different. The preacher kept talking about if she comes home and is tired and so are you, rub her feet first. When she cooks dinner and you don't like it act like you do. Don't get me wrong, being taken care of is great! ;) I just thought it was weird to say at a wedding. She kept going on and on and several people were like "what is this, enough already"..HAHA. At the end after she prounced them man and wife, the music was the theme from Monday Night Football. (the bride is a HUGE football fan and the groom is the only man on earth who can't stand sports. He is a musician). The reception was at a burger joint, so most people were standing. There weren't a lot of tables. They played music from elvis to the muppets Rainbow connection. This place is considered the best hamburger Joint in Dallas. :hun: So I ate half the burger, had 3 french fries, gave rest to DH and this morning at WI I lost 4 lbs. I'm so excited. :cb: :cheer:

I'm concentrating more on exercise. That is my weakness right now. I'm going to try to step it up more this week. :tread:

Thanks for all the encouragement and kind words. You all are wonderful and I'm so glad your here with me through the journey.

I hope everyone has a good day! :goodvibes

And now I'm going to change my stats!!! HAHA!!

First of all Ms. Wendy I just want to say you are :smoking:, you should be sooooo proud of yourself. You are doing an amazing job, keep it up!

Good morning to all, I had a really good weekend with my honey since he is on vacation. I drank a few too many glasses of wine this weekend (I still worked out) but I will be doing double duty on the treadmill this week. I ate really healthy, so that was good.

Well I have to go for now, and I hope everyone has a blessed day!

Hi Ladies~

I hope you don't mind a newbie jumping in here?? Actually, I am not really a newbie. I was a part of the original walkers with Kristi and Janine. Also, I am not actually going to start officially with the miles till August first but wanted to jump in and say Hi and hope you don't mind if I join.

Hope everyone is having a great day.

Good Morning Gang!

Wendy - congrats on the 4 lb loss! that's awesome!

Kristi - about sunday school. I teach the 12th grade girls and my hubby teaches the 12th grade guys. We go to a large church - over 1000 members - so we have a lot of teenagers (which is just great with us). We have been working with teenagers since we were teenagers. It is very challenging at times, but the blessings are always much greater than the challenges. Our youngest son will be graduating this year, so I am not sure what we will do after that - if we will continue working with the youth or move up to the college department, or what - we will just have to see where the Lord leads us. But anyway, we have had a few weeks off from teaching while the 12th grade graduates moved up the college department. Last years 11th graders will move up to our classes in 2 weeks, so we will be BUSY again. Not sure I will be able to get in walks on Sunday mornings, but will see how it goes.

Anyway, I feel bad. I did not exercise yesterday or today. I'm just not feeling up to par - guess it's TOM - but that usually is no excuse. I may try to get in a walk after supper tonight, but that is usually impossible. Will just see how it goes - but I have to get my rump in gear and get myself up tomorrow morning to exercise.

Hope everybody has a blessed day!

hugs,
Cathy

Lastnight's WI was good... down 2.75lbs! Woo hoo! :cb: So over 4lbs in 2 weeks! Steady progress, I figure. :D

After WI, we had a guest speaker visit our TOPS meeting. Each of us was asked to take in something we crave... I chose a coconut chocolate bar. She then taught us meridian (sp?) therapy to overcome our cravings for our particular food. And I was truly amazed that it worked! So now I'm armed with a defense against all the bad food I find myself craving. :) Feel better knowing how to resist temptation, that's for sure!

Managed to get my strength-training in yesterday a.m. as well as my evening walk after dinner. Food was good, same with water. :) Today should be just as good.

Next Monday's meeting is cancelled (B.C. holiday) so the following Monday I'm hoping to see even greater results at WI! I'm gonna bust it until then! :)

--------------------------------

Wendy... Glad to hear you had a nice time at the wedding! :) And that your WI showed such great results! Yay for you! :) I hope you have a good week!

Cristi.... Looking forward to getting to know you better! :)

Cathy... Sounds as though you've got your hands full with Sunday school! Good for you! :)

bburoughs... Good for you for getting your 2mi in this a.m! Keep up the good work!

I hope everyone has a happy and healthy day! Keep on truckin' ladies! :D

Good morning ladies :coffee: ,

I'm glad to see everyone had a good day on yesterday. I didn't walk but did 30 minutes of step aerobics. Hubby still on vacation so we went out to eat last night, and I had a Vegetarian pizza from Applebees and only ate a couple of pieces (w/water). Does anyone ever feel like just not working out but know you have to (it's like pulling teeth)? Will I ever get that burst of excitement and look forward to it everyday? :kickcan:

Good afternoon ladies!! :)

Well I got up this morning and did the WATP 1 mile for abs. I feel good but tired!! I hope to work myself up to 30 a day. :strong:

Cathy - that is wonderful how you work with teenagers. It really is important. They need guidance (even if they don't want it) and love and understanding.

Mel - thanks for the encouraging words. Your the best :cp:

Abirdee - Girl, I'm with you on the exercise. People keep telling me that it will kick in and that I will soon WANT to exercise instead of have too. I'm ready for it because after work I just sit my butt down and don't feel like it. BUT, I did make myself get up this morning and work out. Just for 15 mins. I did feel better. We can do it!! Just do it a few times and it will kick in. That is what I am telling myself. :tread: :cheer:

Have a great day everyone!

Mel - I would love to hear about this meridian? therapy to overcome cravings.

Could you tell us about it? or tell us what your speaker said about it? or point me to somewhere on the internet where I could look it up? I'm just curious what it is and would like to hear about it.

thanks,
Cathy

Cathy, it was just a quick 1hr long session, and she covered only the basics but I'll do my best to explain the lesson.

First of all you need to be specific with your craving. Ie: Not just salty foods, but identify exactly what you're craving (redenbacher's popcorn, McDonald's french fries, etc). Put the food infront of you and on a piece of paper write down exactly why you crave that food (the saltiness, the sweetness, the chewiness, etc). And rate (from 1-10) how much you are craving the food.

Then make a fist and with your opposite hand tap with four fingers continuously on the fleshy part (between your pinky finger and your wrist) and say outloud "Even though I have this craving for _______ (remember to be specific here) I deeply and completely accept myself". Continue saying it.

Then tap under your eye (on your cheek bone) and continue saying the chant. The tap under your nose... then on your chin... then on your collar bone, all the while saying the chant.

Then repeat the tapping on meridian points saying "Even though I can not control this craving for _______ (again be specific), I deeply and completely accept myself".

Again, repeat tapping on meridian points saying "Even though I can not overcome this craving for ______, I deeply and completely accept myself".

Afterward, write down on your piece of paper how much you now crave the food infront of you. Continue steps until you no longer crave the junk food.

Don't use this method to skip meals, but only when you are craving something you know is unhealthy.

It really worked for me... and I hope you girls find the tool useful as well! :)

Hi Cristi, It's great to hear from you. Have you been posting all along in other sections? I hadn't posted in months and subsiquently I put on about 15# this past winter. I so need someone to be accountable. I just can't trust that I will keep good tabs on myself yet lol I'm looking forward to hearing what you're up to................Cathy, You've worked with teens since you yourself were a teen. How awesome in that? I'm being blessed this week with a group of 4 councellors ages 19 to 23. We hire a group from the same camp to do our VBS every summer. I just love it...................Brenda, Keep up the terrific work!!!................Mel, Woohoo ! awesome girl. WTG..................Abirdee, I don't know about getting to a point where you really look forward to exercising!?!?! I've been at this alot of yrs and I still have to force myself most days. I'm always happy and feel much better once I'm done but getting going is another story. I do know that changing up makes it more enjoyable. Like right now, I'm totalling into riding my bike. Can't waite to get on it, but every mile I plan to walk this week (to hit my goal) is feeling almost like torture!!! I would like to abandon the goal, but I know setting goals and meeting them is why I weigh 53# less than I did 4 yrs ago. Soooooo, I do what I gotta! Maybe look for a little change and you'll enjoy it more. Just a suggest. Good luck!..............Wendy, A ATP aimed at abs? I've never seen that. Do you like it? How long is it? Etc....Maybe I'll go to Leslie's web site and check that out. Thanks............As for me, another wild day at VBS. I really do enjoy it, but it wears me out Phew. I got in my 3 miles yesterday, but not until almosyt 9pm and I hate working out that late. So, today I got myself up and out and had 2 miles done before 6am. I'm planning to walk the children to the park so I will get in another 2. I'm also going to do a few exercises for my abs. Not exactly a "full" UB workout, but close enough. I'm in crunch mode here!! ....................Sunny, I'm missing you lady. Praying all is going ok and that you're feeling God's loving arms supporting you.

I took the day off on yesterday (after working out 7 days a week), but I did clean up, mopped, and cook dinner. After that all I wanted to do was take a hot bath and go to sleep. I will be back on track today with my 2-3 mile walk. I have a meeting this morning, so I have to go.

I hope everyone has a blessed day!

Wow, everyone is doing fabulously! Great work, ladies! :D

Kristi... You rock! No worries about the strength-training, you are certainly making up for it in other areas! And I love what your wrote about loving yourself... that, beyond anything else, is most important. I'm not quite there yet, but hope to be very soon. :)

Sheila... Good luck on your goal to reach 9mi on the TM by Monday! We'll all be cheering for you! :tread: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: Like Cathy said, you must be doing something right to see another 2lb loss! :)

Cathy... As always, your hardwork inspires me to get off my duff and get movin'! Thank you for that! :)

Wendy... Yeesh! That's some nasty storm you've endured! I'm definitely praying for sunnier days for you! :) Keep up the great work walking away those pounds! :)

I didn't do any exercise yesterday -- felt I needed a day off. Today I'll make up for it by doing both strength-training and walking. This morning I looked at myself in the mirror and could definitely see a difference... and not just a slight difference. A major one! My tummy is actually looking quite flat! :dancer: I may just reach that goal of size 9/10 by the beginning of Sept.! Woo hoo!

Anyways girls, hope you all have a wonderful day today! :) Take care of yourselves... type you later!

HI Ladies~

Sounds like everyone is doing an awesome job with their walking and exercise. I am looking forward to starting anew in August.

Kristi~glad to hear you are doing fine. I have been reading some of the thread off and on and thought I NEED to get back in the habit of exercising. You ladies seem to be very motivating. I am totally amazed at the progress you all have accomplished. I wish I could say the same. Unfortunately I have been on a roller coaster-up and down, and up and down... So haven't gotten too far with the weight loss. I think when the thread kind of ended I also ended and just haven't been able to get back on track. So here I am giving it another go. I am giving myself till January 1 to lose this weight. I have been posting though. I never left 3FC. I have found a thread that is wonderful, the ladies are great, and anyone is welcome to join us at the Jaded Ladied thread.

Anyhoo...hope eveyrone has a great day and weekend! TTFN

I plan on swimming again today. If I do that will be 4 days in a row of swimming. I should get in more laps today as the other woman who swims with me will not be there today so I won't have anyone to stop and talk to. One good thing about having a swim buddy is we hang out in the deep end and when talking we are treading water.

Hey Gang!

I did not exercise yesterday. No excuses just didn't.

But today I cleaned house for more than 6 hours and that has to count as my exercise because I am pooped and can't do another thing on my feet.

Sooooooooooo I didn't reach my goal for miles this month, but I'm glad for what I did, and hopefully next month I will walk more.

How did everybody else do?

Well, I walked 4mi lastnight and another 4.5 tonight which brings my July total up to 46. Not too shabby, I think! In fact I'm pretty darn proud of myself! I've come a long way in a few short weeks! And I'm thinking my Aug. goal of 50mi is definitely attainable! Hubby and I have found a route that we like a lot... gets us down town to all the action so it doesn't really seem like exercising.

Food has been pretty good... although I indulged in some frozen yogurt tonight. Ah well, I could have easily gone for the ooey gooey yummy in your tummy double chocolate chunk ice-cream. But it would have been all down hill from there... so I chose the slightly healthier road. :)

Glad to hear all of you are doing so well... I'm really proud of you ladies! And I'm so thankful that you are here each day! It really gives me an incentive to push a little harder since I know you will all understand just what the end result means to me. So thank you for all your endless inspiration and motivation!

Ok, yes, I'm a bit of a mush-pot. Hmmm... quite a big mush-pot, really.

Anyways, good work, ladies! You've all done wonderfully this past month! Good luck in August... I'm definitely cheering for each of you! :)
