Good morning, Chickies~~

So glad the weekend is upon us, aren't you? :D

Friday is my "short" day at work...only stay til 2:30 instead of 5:00. This is going to be MY weekend. Since my birthday and Father's Day are colliding this year, my darling dh has booked a room at a nice hotel here in Atlanta. He's taking me out to dinner and has promised that we'll have a wonderful time together! :o Once we get home on Sunday, then it'll officially be Father's Day and I'm cooking him my World Famous Rotissierie Chicken with all the trimmings. His favorite meal in all the world.

I fell off the wagon a teensy bit last evening and had a spider roll at my favorite sushi place. :^: Too bad I can't get them to do brown rice instead of white, then it would be nice and legal for us Beach babies.

I've stepped outside and it's going to be another scorcher~~sigh~~

Hope all you Chicks have a great day on the Beach.

A semi-scorcher coming up here in The Great White North, Mamacita. Yesterday was bad with the humidex and UV high so Sarah and I did not bust our butts in the garden. I went to town in the afternoon and looked at new range hoods. I've decided I need an electrician to install it so will need to search around for another workie type to add to my "harem"! Kevin had a bad experience with wiring a few months ago and does not do that anymore.

This morning The Girls kicked up a big fuss at five. When I went downstairs, they were standing on the bookcase barking out the window! There was a deer in the dog garden! Silly thing jumped the fence and then could not get enough of a run at it to get back out! I had to unlock the gate and chase her out accompanied by offended barking and howls of outrage from inside the house! I'll inspect the back garden later - deer love to munch on bean plants and mine are just up - all succulent and tender! :( (Is chasing deer aerobic exercise?)

In a few minutes, I'm off to water the plants at the Fairground. (They needed it yesterday but I was too wiped by the time I got home from town.) I've planned a salad lunch and a new salmon burger recipe for dinner. It's nearly legal but has Hoisin sauce in it which I suspect has sugar!

Have a great TGIF and a wonderful weekend. :grouphug:

Sounds like you will be having a wonderful planned weekend. I am also so glad its Friday its been a long week at work. I actually have to doctor appointments today early on and then the sky is the limit. Going to go out with a couple of friends and the hubby for dinner tonight. I will most likely fall off the wagon a bit. But I will try to do good all day and adjust my eating to balance it out I hope. Trying to keep off my lbs. I took off already isn't easy. Seems that when I get to my low point I go up an down for a few days flexing that number. Does this generally happen to others to? It isn't much fun to lose and get the numbers down and then up , oh well at least its only 1/2 to 1 lb. I am sure to keep track of it as I feel so much better now. Its not how fast for me that I lose but to keep it off and be healthier in the long run. I would like to lose 4lbs. more by 7/21 my birthday we'll see!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have a super day everyone and good luck to all of you with your changes in your lifestyles!!!!!!!!!!!!!

06-18-2004, 09:51 AM
Hey, girls!

Mamacita, your weekend sounds wonderful! Have a good time, hon!

 Ruth, deer chasing is DEFINITELY aerobic activity!! :lol3:

Skyfirefly, enjoy your diner with DH tonight!!

Jodi, I am so with you re: getting back OP. I just can't get it together.

Clovey, peas were MEANT to be eaten right in the garden! They're such a sweet treat.
Compost on your back seat. I can so relate to that!

Cottage... a free sauna... :lol3: How wonderful for Caitie to look forward to a sibling at her age! Our children are seven years apart, and right now they're giggling and having a morning cuddle together. They have their "moments", but for the most part they get along SO well. The age gap has really worked for them.

Laurie, your stomach is getting smaller!! The other day my trainer wanted me to stand and bend over so that my head was touching me knees. hahahahahahahaha! He doesn't appreciate that there's about 40 pounds of fat stopping me...
I belonged to a book club for a year or so. It was fun, but all of the other women were too "nice" to criticize the books other people had chosen. I was the only one who made the occasional negative remark, and it made me none too popular. Heck, if you think a book is crap, then SAY SO!!
I'm so glad to hear that I'm not the only one bad with fines. We just got a fine from the library for 160 bucks. heh heh. I figure we're helping to support the library.

ADDFlower, I've read most of the Pollyanna books... I love them! I think you've got a great attitude. :)
I'm glad you're getting more energy! Rock climbing would be SO cool! :smoking:

Dad is at the hospital today having his monthly blood transfusion, and Mom and DD and I are hitting the second hand stores. :) Our favourite place to shop.

love and hugs to everyone I've missed... :grouphug:

good morning chickies,
TGIF!!! this is truly a happy day. it is supposed to be my short day at work......the super from the main office just called and said their server is down so that means little to no work for me to do this morning. i really need the break i worked my butt off this week.(well i wish!!)

i went home last night and madr the broccoli rabe, i never had this before but it was very good. i winged a ground turkey, white bean and ww penne pasta with alot of garlic the dh and kids loved it so it is a keeper.

we are fast approaching the end of baseball season (thank goodness) so lots of games to get played this weekend, also the church festival, and can't forget about fathers day so it will be another busy one.
hope you all have a great weekend!!!

06-18-2004, 10:06 AM
BUSY, aren't we?! Glad everyone is doing well!

We were set to go to my brother's house in West Virginia this weekend for father's day, and he called yesterday to tell me their AC was broken. It's going to be near 90 or above with the heat index, so we're likely having it at my house. Ummmm... I haven't had time to really clean the house. I keep the kitchen and bathroom spotless, so the junk, crap, and clutter get put everywhere else, which is only two rooms, since our house is so small. Yeah, I'm going to be doing some cleaning when I get home from work! It's the motivation we needed, I suppose, and will look simply lovely when done.

Mamcita- I don't know if you have Whole Foods stores where you are, but they make sushi with brown rice. If I'm jonesin (which is nearly everyday) I go get brown rice sushi there.

Ruth, you deer-chasing fiend. HILARIOUS. Noodles has taken to patrolling the (NEW!) back door for any birds or bugs that might invade. I think she would run and hide if she saw a deer. Some rottweiler...

Sky- 1/2 loss is better than 1/2 pound gain!

Ellis- fingers crossed for dad! Second hand shopping. I am BEYOND jealous. There's nothing like someone elses junk to make your own treasure. LOVE IT!

Jodi- I am so jealous! If our server goes down here, yours truly has to fix it, though i know nothing about computers. Enjoy the relaxed day!

Everyone-Have a TERRIFIC day! (I will too since I just had a doughnut.. I'm HORRIBLE!)

Good morning All! Have a great weekend Mamacita!

Had a good OP day yesterday. Hope to keep OP this weekend. Everyone else enjoy yourselves and don't overdo it in the heat and humidity!

06-18-2004, 10:48 AM
Morning all...

Yay for all of you on plan! Yay for deer chasing! And Yay for good plans for the weekend!

I ma having a small gathering tonight. I was tempted to buy "low carb" beer, but bought 2 bottles of wine instead. If I want to drink, that's what I am going to drink.

Lost another 2 pounds from what I gained. But I am feeling totally frustrated ladies.

How can I stay on this plan is when I have a "bad" two days and eat a serving of fries and 2 slices of pizza, I gain 4 lbs!?!?! Seriously...I feel like I can never have anything good again. If I do, I'll gain and it's that much tougher to go back and try to lose it again. When I lost the 42 lbs on my own, I was able to have the "bad" stuff, as long as I didn't binge on it [like have 5 servings of fries and 1/2 a pizza].

[ /total frustration ]

Have a good Friday...I hope my friends get me out of this funk! I prepared all OP snacks for tonight: chimichurri chicken bites, roasted red pepper "salsa", turbo fast hummus, and black bean dip -- instead of chips I am making grilled polenta crackers [I know, corn, BUT it's low in sugar polenta] and whole grain Wasa crackers...

06-18-2004, 11:00 AM
Hey chickies!!

Just catching up on the last few days worth of posts since we are still not online at home. I am teaching summer school this morning and don't have a first period class, so I have been skimming away!

I had a very off OP evening on Wednesday, but got back on yesterday. We went to Happy Hour where I indulged in beer, chips and salsa, and nachos. I actually felt ill yesterday morning due to the bad-carb overload. Definitely NOT worth it!!

I have been reading up a storm this summer, my favorite so far being The Pilot's Wife, by Anita Shreve. Very good!

Have a super Friday and a great weekend!

06-18-2004, 11:06 AM
Wow I am so jelaous of all you chickies having fun this weekend. Other than baking birthday, father's day, and wedding cakes I get to study for two bar exams all weekend. Hooray! Please have extra fun for me!!!

Stick with it Jenne, after my slip up last weekend I'm now more motivated than ever to stay on this. I fit into my cute hawaiian (size 10) skirt yesterday and wanted to shout from the rooftop...size 8 here I come! Then one of my roommate comes down this morning and says that I have really slimmed down. It gave me that additional push to kick the pasta/chocolate devil out of my mind- for today anyways. Just know that even if you cheat- we are all still here for you to give you the push to get back on the perverbial wagon.

Tea time-

06-18-2004, 11:16 AM
Yeah but is being thin worth not having fun again VT? I mean, that's how I equated fun - being carefree, not having to worry about eating 1 or 2 slices of pizza. I mean, I won't be going back to my old ways, I am just having some doubts. I mean, it's been almost two months and all I have lost is about 14 total -- not counting the 10 I've had to lose all over again.

It just seems to me that while SB is great, it also sets you up for failure as well. If you fall off, you instantaneously gain.

I am the biggest proponent of SB. I know it doesn't sound like it right now, but I am. I know it's easy to lose the weight again. I just feel like a yo-yo and that I will never be able to eat the foods that taste good, but are bad for you.

Ignore me. I am in a pretty foul mood. I don't want to ruin anyone's day...

06-18-2004, 11:16 AM
Happy Friday, chickies!

Mamacita--What is in the spider roll to make it look spidery? I always see the little picture of those on the sushi menu and wonder... I know what you mean about that sushi craving though. I loooove california rolls, and I usually treat myself to an order of them a week.

Ruth--My sister's dog Lucky goes wacko over the deer, too. They call her the Deerslayer. ;)

For my part, I'm hoping to skip out of work early today, too. They don't schedule many Friday classes during the summer, so the office is usually dead by 11:00. Would love to get the chance to go look for some plants for my new hanging pot. :)

I am expecting a barrage of phone calls any day now b/c I just sent out a ton of shower invitations for my best bud. (My weight goal for her wedding on September 4th was to lose 50 pounds, and I'm only 9 pounds away!) I tried listing my email for the RSVP in front of the phone number in hopes that people would get the hint that I HATE the phone... We'll see if it works or not. Any suggestions for OP shower hors d'oeuvres are welcome, btw. :D

Have a great day!

06-18-2004, 11:38 AM
Well, if anyone needs a hand getting back on the wagon, just climb up my back. I'm the one hanging on by one hand, and the rest of me is slamming the ground! Lol!
You all sound so busy, hope the day goes well for all.
My son woke up asking to go Gwage swaling (garage saleing) so we will go after I clean up the house and pay the bills.

06-18-2004, 11:44 AM
jenn- your gathering sounds great!! you have taken the time to plan so you should do great!!! i have the same frustrating thoughts life was alot easier before i started caring about what i ate. i am very impatient and i want this weight to go away!!! i'll be honest i don't think i can live my life never eating another piece of pizza, but looking at the long term, making the life change, in the end when i am at my goal that piece of pizza wont matter that much. to me the gains are not true gains because they are easily flushed away with extra water and a good carb day or two. i am struggling so hard to get back on this plan because i know this is the easiest (not fastest) way for me to get to my goal. i know that when i am eating according to this plan i am not starving and i feel good. i know that i have lost 20lbs on this plan since i started in feb. this is not a staggering amount of weight i know but it is gone for GOOD. keep your chin up, keep trying!!!

06-18-2004, 12:40 PM
Well, you all sound busy. Yep, it's Friday here too, but doesn't feel like it for me. My son gets his wisdom teeth out today...yuck. I hate doing healthcare on my day off.

I survived girls camp. 10 13-15 year olds in the mountains in tents. I froze my buns off. We woke up to frost everywhere. Do you have any idea how cold aluminum tent poles are as we're taking them down?????? I did manage to lose a pound. I cooked for them, but ate my own private stash of food. Very OP.

Well, Jodi, I hope your servers stay down all day and you get a nice long weekend.

Ellis, don't buy too much stuff, but while you're out and about, you might want to mail my bracelet

Ruth, so cool that you live somewhere that there are deer! Hopefully your beans survived.....and that the dogs don't need therapy for having their space invaded.

Mamacita, have a great day at work. You deserve a weekend!

I weeded my garden this morning and sat down in the garden and gorged myself on strawberries. They are so good.
My weekend will be spent in the ER. Ugh. Hopefully people will decide it's too nice outside to come in....what are my chances? Slim to none! I have my final in my statistics class this Wednesday and then I'm going to finally enjoy the summer!

You all be good, if you can't be good, be good at it! :D

06-18-2004, 12:47 PM

I'm so happy, just dropped the doggie at the kennel. All packed DH is taking the train from the city, and I'll fight the traffic to get to the airport. So excited to be taking a vacation even though it's only 2 days.

I send DH to Sacks 5th to buy some sunscreen from Kiehls (we love their products). He laughed because normally we go to Barney's and they're pretty snobby. At sacks he said two men were extremely helpful, tried to sell him a bunch of things, but he was in a hurry and had my list.

Going to see my fabulous Aunt, she's a semi celebrity so that's always fun when we go places and people ask for her autograph and such.

Hopefully the retaining wall project will be finished when we come home.

Ellis - that was hilarious, your trainer must have rolled his/her eyes.

Jodi - baseball season = SO MUCH traffic. It took me 45 minutes to drive two blocks when I lived next to Wrigley field.

Ruth - how exciting a new range hood. We have a downdraft that I hate - I wish we could have gotten a range hood. I'm laughing b/c your guy won't do the wiring. Our dishwasher water line was leaking when I installed it, and of course I hadn't put the electric in yet. I was under there and screamed, I'm getting electrocuted. My DH hasn't let me live that down.

06-18-2004, 12:47 PM
Jodi --

that was the most sensible post I have ever read.

Thank you.

06-18-2004, 12:49 PM
Oh - forgot to mention. Crate and barrel is having their sale - so our sectional is $200 off. HOrray!!!!!

06-18-2004, 01:09 PM
Hey Chickes, Sounds like a lot of people have a short day at work today.. Lucky... :D Great for everyone who has been OP, yay! Jenne, things will get better we all miss our yum yum foods.. I miss nachos like no other. mmmm nachos... ok new goal find way to make on plan "nachos"

Have a good day everyone, and a good weekend. Smile brightly!

06-18-2004, 01:38 PM
Hey Chiks,

Just wanted to pop in and say hi! Sounds like every one has a nice weekend to look forward too.

Jenn- Jodi just said what i was thinking when I read your post. Dont focus on never eating those things again, just focus on your goal and maybe use those things as a reward every now and then 4lbs. Is a small scarifice for all the wieght you lost so far. and you will loose more and perhaps choose to eat a slice a gaian and put on wieght again but the key thing is you are still able to loose. If you give up now and gain it back then 50 more is alot harder to loose than 4 ( dont let my mathmaticale skills scare

And as for my weekend I am goin to see a shakespear play at forest park in St. louis (where I live). I cant remember the play right now but i think it will be fun. Although I will feel like the fifth wheel but oh well I am getting used to it. I t beets going alone like i planned to in the beginning.

Well talk to you all later!

06-18-2004, 01:46 PM
I have a girlfriend who is always the third wheel. 5th wheel 7th wheel. Actually I think that she gets annoyed b/c she's had some bad relationships - but you know she always has a great time. It's always liek, oh it will be weird or whatever, but my DH adn our friends are great, and she usually has a great time.

06-18-2004, 02:02 PM
Hi Everyone...

Jenne... I totally hear you. At the start of being on SBD when I had the horrible cravings I kept thinking that I never had cravings like that when I was doing the Carb Adicts program, and how much more energy I had when I was doing that program... but I stuck it out with encouragement from YOU.

The reality of our biology is that unless we really increase or physical activity and permenently alter our metabolisms and habits the weight will ALWAYS come back on if we try to eat the way we used to. Plus, I think that it's the additives and preservitives that are in so many foods that are part of what do us in... that and things like salt (on ff) may be what is causing your "instant gain". Besides... french frieds are the spawn of satan  :joker:

I know that I will probably not ever be getting a pizza from Valuetina's (our favorite pizza place) on the way home from school for dinner anymore. But I know that I can (someday) have pizza made with whole wheat pizza crust (lots of health food stores sell it already made up) and cooked in my oven on my pizza stone just the way I like it. I've heard people talking about some pita bread that you can have... if you open a pita bread (or even without opening it) you can make a pretty great pizza.

Me... I haven't started really exercising yet. *bad Ami* I know I'm loosing weight because things are fitting differntly... I still don't have a scale :moo: I'm a scale ho without a scale! I don't know what I weighed when I started, I don't know what I weigh now ... but my underwear fit better :hyper:

My little dog stepped on a dead bee this morning. I hollered for my neighbor to help me because the little one was yelping when I tried to touch her. Bless her my neighbor dosen't have a clue about bee stings so by the time she answered her phone and made her way outside to help me (and I found the stinger) it had pumped all it's venom into the little ones foot. So her foot hurts... She's on the couch watching PBS. Wacky little one eye'd mutt loves childrens t.v.

RNMOM: do you work in the ER all the time? I joined the Emergency Nurses Assn. ...I want to be a trauma nurse.

Have a great day at the beach everyone...

06-18-2004, 02:35 PM
Yep, I'm in the ER most of the time. The other times I work in hospital education. Very flexible hours. My passion is ER. Our manager is currently out of town, she asked me to be on call for her so I'm doing a ton extra this next few days because that's what has to be done. Ya, trauma nursing.....never a dull moment. :^:

06-18-2004, 03:39 PM
RNMom - can I ask a question? Why in the world is our ER nurse Soooooooooooo lazy to switch the cuff from CHILD to Adult Large (b/c regular adult is a bit tight)

I had my BP taken and she was like Oh this is popped off. Then I said the adult one is probably going to be too tight also. She was like No, this will be fine (obviously she proved she's a genius when she said this last time).
OMG my arm was bruised and hurt sooooooooooooo bad. Of course my CP was high and she was like - oh you're just stressed.

I was like - no you almost cut my arm off. then I had to wait FOREVER. I swear she made me go last b/c I doubted her 'expertise'.

Obviously you don't know her - but seriously......I was totally annoyed.

06-18-2004, 04:20 PM
Pebbles, I have learned that I have to ask for the large cuff or my BP shows through the roof. They were about to put me on High BP meds before a great nurse thought to try the large cuff. Doh! Most nurses give me such dirty looks when they have to go find the large one, but I insist on it. *sigh* I hate giving people a hard time! :p Anyways, I feel your pain. sorry that you're feeling frustrated. I felt that was for years and dealt with it by eating every single thing I wanted. Now I'm up to 100 pounds more than I was when I started. Yup, that worked well. I had to finally accept that I just can't eat those things and live the way I want to. It's a choice. And I figure that for you it is a choice too or you never would have started SBD in the first place. If the first plan worked so well, you never would have switched. So try to think about why you switched and focus on all that you *can* have and do. I know that my focus on food as fun was totally unhealthy! I'm learning to find fun in things not focused on food and realizing how much else there is out there! A friend of mine who never would go out to eat with me told me that she would love to go hiking together. Who knew? I love spending time with her, but we only get to go for coffee or what not because she doesn't like to just sit and eat. I *never* would have asked her to go hiking before! There is truly a lot out there to experience that has nothing to do with food. Plus, I tell myself that once I get to Phase 3, once in a while I *can* have those things. So don't say never. Say you need to earn the right to eat them and stay healthy, and you deserve that health. Amen! :hat:

I hope everyone has a great day, or at least a better day than they are expecting! Ruth, love your story about the deer! Very cool! I often wonder what Lady is barking at...she sees things I don't, which is a bit spooky! Living in an old house makes you wonder... :chin:

Well, had an okay day so far. The presentation went fine and the woman I was worried about abusing me obviously took a happy pill (maybe the same one Lorraine took, Mamacita! ), so that was great.

However, I had to have lunch with the alumni board and it was so hard! I had to not eat the soup...have no idea what it was, but there was a ton of grease on top and some kind of off plan dumplings in it...along with the best rolls. I hated sitting there and not eating...I felt so yucky. :( I even put a fork across my plate to let them know I didn't want a roll, and then said twice to the waitress, "No, thank you", and she still put one there. Then I had to stare at in and not eat it. *sigh* We had salad for came with the dressing on it, had apples and grapes (and I had my one fruit serving for snack) along with some meat that appeared barbecued. I ate around the meat and had three bits of apple along with lettuce, bleu cheese and almonds (hated giving up my nuts for the day...) and am really hungry now and having cravings...probably from the piece of chicken that I ate unknowingly and the sweet dressing. I denied the dessert and again felt odd to be the only one not eating. How do you guys handle this? I hate budging in and sticking out. I hate having to ask for special treatment. I just know that I have to stick up for myself or jeapordize all the hard work I am doing. I have to do two sit down dinners next weekend for work and I have to call Dining Services and ask them to help me out, even though they will be serving food for hundreds of people that weekend...I know from past experience with them that they will be rude and then not do as I asked, and I just don't know what to do. I want to have a plan in place, but I am at a loss. Help!!!

DH and I are going out to eat tonight and have no major plans for the weekend. Buffet lunch with alumni tomorrow (those are SO much easier to manage!), but otherwise free time. It's supposed to rain, so we don't have to work in the garden. It will be nice to relax together. I'll have to work all weekend long from early to very late, so I need to get my relaxing time in now.

Did Jazzercise last night and did a bit better but am still super uncoordinated. Still, I was so proud of myself! Went for a walk with DH and the dog, Lady, afterwards. Went to the gym this morning and did the elliptical only. The scale showed 185 (WOW!!!) today...not sure if it will stay tomorrow, but it was SO nice to see. :goodvibes:

Thanks for listening to me rant, guys. I really would love your suggestions for dealing with these frassing plated meals at work. Thanks!!!

06-18-2004, 04:38 PM
RNMom - can I ask a question? Why in the world is our ER nurse Soooooooooooo lazy to switch the cuff from CHILD to Adult Large (b/c regular adult is a bit tight)

I know I'm not RNMom... and I can't answer for everyone, but having been an EMT (emergency medical technician) for a very long time and knowing quite a bit about blood pressure from that (becuase it's an important diagnostic tool in field medicine) my experience from school is that nurses and medical assistants are NOT taught much about how to take an accurate blood pressure or even the importance of using the right size cuff.

IMHO many nurses (and by nurses I mean LVN, LPN, CNA, and RN) don't give blood pressures the respect they deserve and are lazy with how they go about taking them. They don't want to be bothered to look for the right cuff or have to take your blood pressure twice because they're afraid it will make them look bad or something. And with all the time pressures... well that's no help either when you can't find the equipment you need.

If the cuff is too narrow for the arm it won't give an accurate reading and if it's too short it won't give an accurate reading... that's why all blood pressure cuffs have a line on them, when the cuff is wrapped around the arm properly the tail end of the cuff should at least touch that line if not cover it... if it's just barely getting there the cuff is probably too small. A cuff that is too small will cause your blood pressure to appear higher than it is.

With the new recommendations for blood pressure levels in relation to hypertension (they're considering you pre-hypertensive at much lower pressures now) it's pretty important that they take your blood pressure right.

Just my $0.02... hope I don't offend anyone...

First... congratulations on your presentation! :bravo: :cp: :flow2: :dancer: :high: :hyper: :balloons:

It sounds like you didn't get much to eat... if you're hungry GO EAT SOMETHING that's good for you!

I have to ask for special treatment all the time with food because of my allergies. Sometimes when you're on a diet and need accomodations for that it's easier to "develop" allergies or a medical conditon because they'll be far more sensitive to that then to any diet.

How I do it may not work for everyone but it works for me mostly... I start out by appologizing (something I probably shouldn't have to do but...) and tell them I'm going to be "high-maintance" but I'm really a very nice person. I explain that I have multiple food allergies and require accomodations. It should be NO problem for the kitchen to provide for you a plain salad sans dressing... be like me... be allergic to paprika (I'm not the only one because the stuff has to be listed seperately on ingredients lists it can't be lumped in with "spices")... tell them you need whatever served with no sauces, marinades or whatever becuase the stuff is sneaky. Tell them you're diabetic and you can't have sugar... and if they try to make you feel bad make THEM feel bad (ooh... I'm on a rip today!) tell them they'd be diabetic too if they had to have their pancreas removed! (mean Ami... BAAAD Ami!) OR tell them that if you stop breathing at their facility you'll hold them responsible.

Tell people you're only eating kosher foods but don't have a ham :ink: sandwich while saying this

Be BRAVE. Bring your own food. It's okay to call ahead and say that you are on a medically prescribed diet (it's only a slight stretch...) and find out if you can bring your own food. Sometimes they'll even take it into the kitchen, put it on a plate and serve you. Years ago I did optifast (that worked... NOT) but when I went to dinners I had a powdered chicken broth that we were allowed to have so they'd bring me a bowl and a teapot of hot water and I got to "eat" too.

Then do these things... eat before you go if you can... don't be afraid to bring something to eat in your purse, like fresh veggies or nuts but not strawberries or liquid soup (messy! MESSY!)... if it's a presentation BOW OUT of the meal. It's not an unreasonable accomodation to arrive for something after a meal or to leave before the meal or whatever. Be creative or tell the truth... but stick to your guns.

I hope that was supportive and not *****y... because it was supposed to be supportive and not mean...

A spider roll is made from a deep fried (I know, I know) softshell crab rolled with asparagus, avocado, masago (flying fish roe) and seasoned mayo. So very yummy, but most of the time I get a rainbow roll (a California roll topped with bands of salmon, yellowtail tuna and avocado).

Have a great weekend y'all!

Beachgal You rock!! You had all of those temptations right in front of you and didn't even waver. Yeah you!!

Jenne Hang in there girl.... this has to be a lifestyle change. Just like someone said before, a "gain" after a splurge is gone once you have plenty of water and an OP day or two. You CAN so do this!

Mamacita I am drooling at the description of the spider roll. Yum!

I am finally online back at home and so glad!! This checking in every few days was "no bueno!"

Took DD to a swim party today, which at first I was dreading, b/c she is som small I knew I would have to get in a bathing suit and be in the water with her... then decided that this was not about ME at all, and we had a BLAST!!! She is not afraid of the water AT ALL and I had kids crawling all over me having a ton of fun while their moms sat on the sides with their toes in the water. They served pizza and a tasty looking cake- bypassed it all, stopped at Jack in the Box for one of their yummy salads, and am feeling good!

Thanks to all. Feeling better, as evidenced here [I hope you all get my sense of humor and I don't offend anyone]

Looks like a good party. I'm glad you are feeling more like yourself!
