Hi everyone. I have posted on here a few times (over the years) but never dedicated myself to getting invloved. I have been lifting weights for about 10 years and am a competitve athlete. I have competed in bodybuilding and now compete in 'Figure' contests. My husband is also a bodybuilder. I am also the mother of 2. I have found, over time, that I just function much better (in and out of the gym) if I watch the carbs. A high carb diet (particularly procesed carbs) just doesn't agree with my system. As yummy as they are..I gotta stay away. Even though I have some muscle on me I am not immune to getting chunky and could use some motivational help to stay focused and especially when I am trying to lean out for a contest. Following a higher protein diet also, of course, helps my gains in the gym.
So..... I am basically "a lo-carber who lifts" and would love to chat with others who are also. I have a great training partner and my husband is spuurtive but...well... the more support the better!!.
Anyone interested in posting menus/workouts? Even if there is just one of you that would like a committed online partner that would be great. It doesn't matter if you are trying to lose a lot of weight, are just getting started or have a ton of experience, as long as our goals are similar: 'More muscle, less fat, watch the carbs.'
I am happy to help with questions if I am able.
:)

You have found the right spot. Join us on our weekly thread and also feel free to post workouts / menus on our stickies at the top of this forum. We love new ideas for clean eats and great workouts.

I appreciate the welcome! Now I feel like a newbie at the gym again.
What is a 'sticky' at the top of the forum? and what is the 'weekly forum'? is that a special thread where everyone checks in on a special day?
I will get it all after a few posts, I hope.
Thanks again.

Hi L2L,
I'm in exactly the same position as you, except I don't compete. I'm just getting back to lifting after a 4 week layoff due to surgery, but I'm hoping to be back quickly. Did legs and shoulders today. Very wimpy compared to 5 weeks ago, but I'll be sore tomorrow.
I eat some carbs, but I can't handle the buckets of oatmeal, brown rice and potatoes of the standard BB diet. I generally stick to a 50P/25C/25F ratio diet. Sometimes I'll go to 50/20/30 to shake things up a bit. Usually I have about 1/3c (dry) oatmeal in the morning, then the rest of my carbs come from the truckloads of vegies that I eat :dizzy:
I'm thinking of starting "The Anabolic Diet" in a few weeks after I've healed more or less completely. It keeps carbs (minus fiber) to less than 30, with protein around 65%, then a weekly clean carb-up. I'm trying to keep my weight where it is now, but rebuild the muscle I've lost in the last month!
Glad you've joined us; the main thread is the one with the week dates as its title.

Hi Meleris!
Thanks for the welcome:)
Very few people are probably even aware of what the Anabolic diet is, Who Dan Duchaine is or have ever even heard of "Bodyopus"
I have several of those books and have folowed a 'TKD' ('Targeted Ketogenic Diet' described in The Ketogenic Diet by Lyle Mcdonald.) and got good gains with it and lost BF. I just read an article about this 'new' idea of cycling your carbs and this 'new' theory about how it helps muscular gains but I was actually doing that several years ago. Funny:)
Anyway, I am happy to be here and thanks for the info

Hi L2L
Welcome to LWL... WE of course luv NEWBIES ... But from your description you are not a newbie at all...
I've been weight training for almost 20 years now and love it of course... I'm not interested in competing at all but would love to look like it :D .... So I keep trucking along with many highs and lows along the way... The last 2 years have been the best for me, this is since hanging around here and meeting this great group of gals who help move me along and motivate me...
Yes, I do think that the moto here is certainly : 'More muscle, less fat, watch the carbs.' I watch my carbs also and usually try to eat them at the start of the day rather than for supper but when I am famished after an afternoon workout I will eat some for supper but only half a cup or so brown rice, half a yam or potatoe... For the life of me I cannot seem to get the 50p/25c/25f... When I average out my intake on a monthly basis on Fitday I get 33/33/33... but it is working for me at the moment... I've never really tried the carb cycling it just seems like too much work for me ...
Anyways, welcome to LWL and post often...
p.s.: If you compete please feel free to post some pics at:

We'd certainly be motivated by a competitor....

Hi Guys:)
I put in a couple urls to contest pics of me but, when I tried to post, I couldn't. Apparently I need to post 50 times before they'll let me include an url in my post.
I will have to upload some from home (I am at work right now) into the gallery Lanaii1 listed above.
Hopefully I will be able to do that. Anyway, I looked at some of the pics and saw some amazing transformations! Wow!. Very Inspiring:)
I have eaten really clean for the last 2 days since reading all the posts on here.
Have an awesome day everyone:)
I will satrt posting on the weekly thread...
XOXO
