This will be a short note. My neck is still giving me a problem. Pain of any kind wears us all down after awhile. Daughter coming today for a few days. It has been awhile since I say her. She will stay a few days. Maybe we will go to the beach and do some of the things we like to do together. Like SHOP.Spend some money..

Well gues what I can't seem to make my colors and fonts work again. I did it just the way you told me charlotte, But when I preview it start all the crud with font color In [] and all that. Well I am sure I can figue it out again.
Maybe I should just skip right to graphics. I write the message and highlight it then pick my font Then I highlight it again for color Now I am going to press preview, If it doesn't work I am just going to skip it today.

How are you doing today? Whats the weather over there like. We have rain and sun. The weather gets strange here. I moment its sunny the next hour it can change to snow. It has done that on occasion, but it changes from minute to minute until later it finally decides what it wants to be. I think the weather here in Oregon has a intelligience of its own.

Laura - about the colors. Type your message - highlight it - then choose your font, size and color. DO NOT highlight it again. The highlight goes away after you choose your font, but it is still activated. Hope this helps.

It is a very windy day here. Seems we are getting more and more wind all the time. Never used to be overly windy. We need rain here, not wind. I think I will not do too much today. May go walk in the mall for awhile, but don't feel like doing much. Achy today, everywhere.

Hiya Everybody!

Everybody sounds as if they are going through the mill today with their aches and pains. Well I am sorry, do hope you all feel better tomorrow. Unfortunately this grotty RA and OA doesnt seem to have any respect for age, nationality, or what we have planned for the day. I had booked a shopping day with a friend today, not something I would ordinarily do but had to tie up some last minute bits for the wedding such as shoes......what a nightmare, but managed to get some. Theyre quite nice too so as long as I can keep them on for the church and the photos then I will change for the reception. Then I got a posh hat, over here we all wear hats for wedding, the icing on the cake so to speak. It also keeps the sun of my face. Then last but not least I bought my 10 month old grandson in CT an England football kit. How nuts is that? Its really cute though..... :lol: Anyway everything is sorted except me and like everybody else I really hurt. I am going to bed shortly and I will take painkillers, muscle relaxant and celebrex and hope I can get a few hours sleep. Its cooler tonight so I might. This is really getting to be a colourful thread, I love to see all the pics that are coming on. Anne your morning one was great.... :lol: I will catch you all tomorrow......Nighty night!!!

Well...I feel better than I have been. It's been very hot, though. With us working on the house, we don't have any air going...too open with putting a roof on..so it's misery. We'll survive, though, somehow.

Super graphics last night......where on earth do you find them all? I really struggle.... I have looked at so many sites already. Hope you're feeling less stressed today with all your construction going on. Stress is one of the things that RA thrives on so try and chill abit today. I know its very hard when youre surrounded by turmoil but try a little meditation. Think of a very pretty garden or beach and put yourself there. It does work, you never know who you might meet in your garden. Hope you feel better.

AnneHow you doing? You were aching too yesterday. I do hope youre felling better today. Your weather sounds as changeable as ours and I am sure thats half our problem. You're getting there with your colour changing. It takes a while when you first start. With the great teachers you have on here you will be a star in no time. :lol: The only thing I want to say without confusing the issue is, if you just type your post, forget size and font. Just type what you want to put , do the whole message, then just highlight and choose your colour it will get you used to it much quicker than if you keep trying to change your font size etc. I have only just started changing font size and doing more than one colour and I am getting confused. :?: Anyway youre doing fine , at least you write newsy posts.

Pam - I know you have most certainly said this before, but I don't know the answers. Where and when is this wedding you are going to?? Glad you finally solved the dilemma of the shoes. That is a hard one for most of us now. Hats used to be a thing everybody wore, but over the years something has happened and now hardly anybody wears one. Occassionally you will see somebody with one, and they look very elegant. I am just as happy they don't wear hats, because I look like a total fool in one. When we were growing up, we used to go into the milinary section of the store and try on all the hats. Used to laugh myself sick!!!! :lol:

Now don't go working too hard! Your graphics are perfect. I love the balance one and have that one for 4 years. It's really agood one. A lot of graphics can be had through "snag" groups. Type in "snaggables" and go surfing :)

Angel - must be really hot with no roof on the house. Are you still living in it? I am sure, as Pam says, all the stress doesn't help with the pain. It is the worst thing for chronic anything! Hang in there

Well, I don't have much to do today. All the housework is done, the groceries are bought and the weather is yukky! We need rain, so I wish it would just rain and be done with it. I don't do too well in the humid weather as it causes me great pain. I am better off with 30 below zero weather because it is so dry here when that cold. A lot less pain.

I do have to get my hair cut this afternoon at 1:30 p.m., so I am looking forward to that.

Hi Laura, my name is Anne. Now about graphics. I can sure help you out if you want.

The first thing you need to do, is go open an account at an online storage place. I have had really good luck with this one, and it is free. Just fill out the form and you will have a place to store your graphics http://www.mypages.iparenting.com/index.htm

Next, in order to save graphics you find on the net that are not copyrighted, so you may have to read the Terms of Condition, you RIGHT CLICKon the graphic, and save it to a folder in My Documents or on your desktop. Make a new folder just for graphics, and then you can make sub folders within the folder so you know what kind of graphic it is - animal, funny, angels, etc.

Next you will go to your storage site, and upload the graphic to that site. This sounds much harder than it is. Click on UPLOAD and then the browse button. You will look for your folder and then open it and click on whatever graphics you want to store.

Then, when you get it stored, you need to be able to post it here. To do that do the following

Find the graphic in your storage, RIGHT CLICK on it, choose PROPERTIES, highlight the ADDRESS/URL, RIGHT CLICK on the address, and choose copy and then OK (at the bottom of the properties box)

Bring it back here and type and then paste the address without any spaces and finish//// with . these //// mean nothing just trying to break it to show you the ending.

If you want to center something it is the same way and finish with a / slash in the brackets. It is easy when you know how, and very nerve wracking when you are learning. Just ask.

Hope this isn't too confusing for you, Laura. Just ask if you need help, or if you are on MSN or YAHOO and have a headset, I could talk you through it. It is a wonderful past time and helps take your mind off of pain!!!

We are a bunch of women with Fibromyalgia and other chronic pain problems such as RA, OA etc. It is a closed board, but that is because we were running into problems from a gal from another site coming in and harassing some of the members.

Stirfried- No user name.. Just me.. No the neck is not much better. I am sure it is oa. I can't take any of the meds for it. Over the years I have run the gamat of all of them. They ruined my stomach. . I can't get the hang of the graphics either.My daughter put a special thing on my computer and I haven't learned to use it yet.I enjoy seeing what all you girls are learning..
Happy- we are having a good time together.( my daughter) We ate out 2 times today. We came home and got on the treadmil for an hour in between meals. Maybe that will help.

This explains my absence from the group for the last few days. We have had Vacation Bible School at our church and we had our 6 y/o grandson here since Monday afternoon. I really enjoyed him, but needless to say he had lots more energy than I did. I had touble keeping up. I pushed myself all week so now that it's over and he's gone I feel like just collapsing in the recliner for the rest of the week.

Well, I had never heard the expression "snaggables" but I sure had fun searching for them. Now I'm going to see if it worked. One question ? What do you do if the graphic you snagged was a bitmap and you need it to be gif? is that easy to change, or impossible? or is that more than one question?

The great thing about looking after Grandchildren is that you can give them back....You sound as if youre a very busy lady so treat yourself and curl up and relax today. Get yourself a good book and a cuppa and find that spot in the garden that nobody else will disturb you in and take stock. Does us the world of good. Recharges the batteries for next time the kiddiwinkies come calling.

Hi, I too have arthritis in my neck so I know what youre going through. Trouble is the more you try to relax it the more you tense. I have a collar they gave me at physio that helps a bit, kind of takes away that feeling of you dont know where to put your head. I also get pains in the base of my head do you? Theyre awful. Everytime you think one bit of your body is clearing up the pain pops up elsewhere, drives you crazy as well as miserable.
I do hope you feel better as its nice too feel good if you have company and places to go. Enjoy the beach and try to relax. :sunny:

Anyway you pair as you both asked the same questions here goes. Its my youngest Son getting married in NJ on 3rd July. Only 3 weeks away. My eldest Son is married to a girl in CT which is how I get to fly out to the States so often. My youngest Son Graduated from Uni May 2003 and now plays basketball professionally. Hes hoping to play in Europe this coming season. Last year he played in Finland.

The consultant has said my face is clearing up beautifully, I can start using makeup again, not that I use alot anyway, only really when I go out and thats not too often. Best of all I dont need to see him for 6 months. Great news eh? Hello everyone, I should be gone by now. I was supposed to be visiting my daughter Jenny. Wow! Guess What? As I sit here writing to you guys, My cousin just came over and told me she would lend me the money to visit Jenny. That was one of the problems I was having. I had the money, but then my oldest daughter sarah needed to borrow $120.00 She was suppose to pay me back ,but as usual things with Sarah do not always turn out like she wants them to. So I wasn't sure was I was going to do. But Thabk God for my cousin Tina she said she would loan me 50.00$ and my son is giving 30.00. I get to go again YEAH ME !!! I only get a disbility check every month under $600.00 and that I live on, which is pretty nice, since I can't work and I am not married anymore. I live with my aunt who is only 9 years older than me and she is disabled to and get disability also so we are lucky because we spilt everything like rent electric ect. So Not always a lot of money, but we get along fine with what we have. So loaning Sarah money and her unable to pay it back can hurt me finacialy, Sarah always manages to pay me back not all at once but she does get it back to me. It was just that I really needed it this month.

Pam so your son is getting married? Are you excited? I can hardly wait for my daughters wedding in sept. She bought the most beatiful wedding dress for herself,she looks so beautiful in it.

Anne I did go to that site the one for parenting. I am waiting for them to email me. I hope I filled out the form correctly. I did not understand what some of it meant. Well I will wait and see what happens..

Joanne D. Is your neck getting any better? How come you do not take a normal pain pill not just the antiimfamitory, but a real pain pill? Thats what I have to do, on top of all the R.A. meds my rheummy gives me. The Doc is trying to cut me back down off of them. I was taking 9 pills a day of methadone. Its a lot. I have been on it gor over a year, so as my pain gets better we lesson the dose, now I am down to 8 methadone a day.
I hope I can learn how to do the graphics they look so neat and some are so beautiful.

My son and his girlfriend came yesterday. They just got engaged and wanted to show us the ring. It is beautiful. I think they should be really happy together. They will get married 16 October. Just want a small wedding with immediate family and their friends. They are going to go to Cancun for their honeymoon.

They have now started on their way back home.

Laura - have a nice visit with your daughter. That was nice that your cousin loaned you the money so you could go. Now enjoy it.

Pam - good news from the Dr. I am like ageoldie and don't know what you had done to your face. So your son is getting married. That is nice. How many kids do you have? Do some live in England?

Angel - haven't heard from you for a couple of days, so hoping you are doing ok, and are just busy with the house.

Nice to see you back.In answering your question I had three skin cancers removed, 2 from the side of my nose and one from just above my lip. They had to rebuild the side of my nose which was done by taking skin grafts and cartilage from my left ear. Then they cut open my lip and above and took a "slice" from there but its healing beautifully and looks nowhere near as bad as I had imagined. Its six weeks since I had the surgery and I was so scared at the time and I have a real fear of hospitals so went through a pretty grotty time but they were all so nice and now its over I hope. They say my skin for some reason is very sun sensitive and its very possible I could have more. I have to go straight back if I have anything else suspect that wont heal. Thats it. Hope I have explained it all ok and answered your question. :)

In answer to your question Anne I have 4 children, two in the UK and two in the States. I have two grandchildren , a grandaughter of 13 over here and a grandson of 10 months over there. I also have three step daughters of which the eldest daughter has three boys. Strange but true I see more of the two sons in over there than I do any of the others put together. My eldest son who lives in CT comes over with work about once a month and therefore I see him then.

Hope you enjoy your trip, its lovely to spend time with your family. We have all fallen on rough times at some point in our lives I am sure I know I have, so we know how hard it is financially getting by which makes it more special when youre able to acheive things you like to do but cant always manage it.
I spent 10 years on my own between marriages with 4 children but we coped and to be honest they wouldnt be where they are now if we hadnt had that time in learning to survive. They are all now very successful adults who have very good lives and I am so proud of them.

Well, here we are on a monday..We had a good rain last night and they say we will get more today. My daughter was here last week for a few days so yesterday was catch up. I am still at it..My neck is still hurting .At times it feels better and at other times I don't know what to do with it. I do take a pain pill at night. If nothing else ,it helps me sleep some. My son moved to one of his houses. Just not having his dog to clean after is a help. My hubby doesn't understand ,but that is too bad. The dog is old and is 100 lbs. The son has to carry him up and down the stairs 4 times a day to go potty. He won't go up or down on his own steam. He has arthritis . I told him to fix a place in the garage and leave him there during the day. His problem!I bet by next weekend he will resolve the problem.
We went out in the boat for part of the day sat. It was really hot. We caught a few fish but threw them back.I didn't want to clean them.Yes ,I do that too.

So Sorry I've been away so long!

It's been 96 degrees & higher here & we have no air conditioning because of the roof being put on. PC is in the room I'm cooking in....hottest room in the house. Can't stand to stay in here to read & post....so have been reading. DH says it wouldn't do any good...but, I beg to differ with him! :o Well, that changed yesterday, when a large rain came before we got home from church. We knew it was suppose to set in raining, but thought it was late in the night. To our surprise we came home to a drowned house! :( See....everyone was going to get together yesterday and put the top wood (whatever it's called) on...but, didn't make it in time. Now, we've got a big mess! Clothes, food, etc, got all wet!! Floors were all soaked. Not floorcovering down yet, but, have to keep baskets of clothes, etc on floor.

So, since it's suppose to rain all week...we've got our hands full.

We also have our son living with us & his week to have his 2 little girls & my daughter from South Al is here this week working close by & staying with us & brought her little girl. I love them all.....BUT!!! :^:

Life has been so hectic lately, thank gosh school is going to be done soon and I can regain some of my sanity!

I've gone back on Atkins pretty much full force, which is the only way it works for me.
Anyone else on Atkins, and do you notice it helps your RA symptoms?
I always feel better when I cut out the white stuff.

Noodles is EXHAUSTED. I was gone for 10 days. We drove home last night...drove straight through and got home at about 2:30 am. I feel beat..ran over..etc. I need a vacation from my vacation!! LOL!! And I am going back in 3 weeks for 4th of July. I must be insane. Nah..... I just love my friends very much and I have some that are in need of help and I promised I would be back to help. They've been my rock and family for almost 15 years now and for me it's the least I can do for them.

So how is everyone!! I will try to get in here to post more now that I am home but I got a house to clean. :( Hubby didn't do much cleaning while I was gone...figures. my plants are dried up, the dishes have been there for a WEEK, and there's no food!! So...you can see what I will be doing for a while. :shrug:

Khewes you are oozing with pride at your daughters prom pic and thats great. Its times like that when you feel that pride that you know everything that happened over the years has been worth it and that feeling of fullfillment is just wonderful. I felt like that when my son got his diploma when he graduated and when my grandchildren were born and oh goodness so many things weddings, jobs, and when they get any sort of recognition you just want to burst with pride. Enjoy it now and everytime. Why not?

Well I am shattered tonight as its been really hot again today and it just wipes me out. I had a mountain of ironing to do today too so I got up really early to tackle it before the heat set in. Hi, this is just a quickie. I went to see my Rheumy today thank goodness as I was feeling dreadful. He gave me a steroid jab in my butt that I had once before and its like a miracle drug. Takes about 3 days to kick in then you feel great for about 6 weeks. He said I could only have it cos I was going to the wedding and it would help get me through it. He wants me back on methotrexate...ug!! I was on it for three and a half years and for the last nine months it nearly killed me with gastric probs. Anyway the hospital clinic has just started to use the injections like some of you have and apparently they are much better gastric wise. I said doing them myself was a definate NO NO.....Sooooo I want to know the answer to a couple of questions from you who take it before i decide whether to agree to that or something else. My other option is Leflunomide....never heard of it.Have any of you? The questions on methotrexate injections are 1..Are there any gastric side effects..2....does the jab hurt, like some injections kill and some you just put up with.3.....have you had any other side effects that I should know about. HI...Just a quick post to answer your question. For me....the shot is 100% better! I was putting the Methotrexate into the needle & shooting it in orange juice. It tasted terrible. I finally got to where I couldn't swallow it without it trying to come back up! The needle is very short. Just hold a little handful of muscle....thigh, stomach, hip, etc ( the thigh is best for me) Hold it tight & it will make it kind of numb. I hesitated the first time...now it doesn't bother me. In fact, I was sitting at the table talking to my son last Thursday night...gave myself a shot...& he didn't even know it. I got up & threw the needle away & he looked at me funny! Would NEVER have sat there, if he had known! :lol: I have less reactions. Still have a lot of side effects...that's the story of my life! :^: I haven't heard of the other meds you were talking about...maybe someone else can help you with that. There's no reason at all to be afraid of the shot. It doesn't hurt. I've been told it will bother you a little in the stomach, so I avoid that.

grrrr. Had a nice long post and then it went to cyber heaven!!!!

I am like the rest of you and am tired today. Had a busy week. Monday, went to a funeral 2 hours away, and then home again. Tuesday, got groceries and had company come for dinner. Wednesday, a girlfriend came to visit and she left yesterday afternoon, so today is a "me" day, because I don't have the ambition to do anything :lol:

Also, on Sunday, my computer crashed. I took it in Monday morning, picked it up Monday night, and found out the same problem was there. So back it went on Tuesday. They went through it with a fine tooth comb, and found that the Processor chip (CPU) was burned. That probably happened when the power supply in the computer blew up a couple of weeks ago. Anyway, got it back last night, but everything was gone, so it is like starting over :dizzy: Spent the morning loading programs etc. Think it is almost back to normal, but I did lose a lot of my e-mail addresses.

Laura - glad you made it back. Hope you had a great time.

Noodles - sounds like you drove a long while, but like Pam says, nothing like your own bed!! Hope you feel better.

Khewes - thank you for sharing the picture of your lovely daughter. You have every right to be proud. She sure is a pretty girl.

Angel - Gosh, what a mess. Hope you now have the plywood in place and the shingles on. That will sure help matters.

Hi I am on the atkins diet, mostly. I almost count all the carbs, and sometimes the net carbs. This way I am still losing weight likr 3 or 4 lbs a week. I haven't see you here for a while. Nice to have you back.

How are you? Good I hope. When is your sons wedding day? I know you told me,but my mind doesn't always work the way is should. My daughter Jenny has 3 months to go. They are getting everything together, and are sending out the invites in july so there is plenty of time for people to rsvp. She made herself the prettiest money card box. She decorated it with silver wrapping paper with a little wedding dress and a little tux on the front of it. On the lid there are 4 lavender flowers with leaves at each corner. its really pretty.

My neck some days feels better other days not so good.. Today was a better day. I was able to walk my 3 miles on the treadmill. Tomorrow I am going out in the boat with my son and his girl friend.She is a new one and I think he has hit the jackpot this time. Only time will tell. I thought not but they said they wanted me to go. Maybe they want to drown me. :lol: :lol: :lol:I think my daughter and her hubby will come in tonight so they will go too. My hubby won't go so he will have to mind the T.V. Later we will all go out to eat.

My daughter has been doing an hour a night training for her challenge, which is today. I had a really nice visit with my daughter Jenny and her fiance matt. I am glad to be home though. I TOTALLY MESSED UP WITH MY DIET,I CHEATED. I know bad Laura. It is going to be so hard to get back to eating right especially with all the sugar I ate. Not to mention when I got home the was a BIG ice cream cake in the freezer and I had 3 slices in 1 day. I gained a couple of lbs back. Oh well. I will go on and eat right. I hope.:sumo:

I wen to that one graphic site you sent me to and I did not understand exactly what they wanted me to do on the form. There were a couple of places that I did not know what to put down. I count net carbs but sometimes I will just count all the carbs. If I do it that way I lose weight a little faster than I would just counting net carbs. This is such a hard diet to get back on if you have cheated like I did last week. I am really going to have to be :strong: and get back to eating right again. I appreciate anything you can tell me about what you eat ands so on.

How are you doing? I read in you last post that youreally have gotten the hang of injecting yourself with the methotrexate. It does get easy after a while. We are to pros at giving ourselves shots. I am not sure why you'd need plug-ins. That's a question for Suzanne. I haven't been in chat much lately because I haven't been home long enough to get in there and blab. I use to be in there alot. Summertime has a way of keeping me away from the computer. I'll try to get in there more though...If you see my egg lit up, it means I am in the room. Otherwise I'm not. Whenever I have the egg on, I always have the chat up in the background.

Too early for me to be up!! :yawn: Ahh well..there is a yard sale at the neighbors I should go check out. I wonder if they would get mad if I put stuff out on my driveway to sell?? Hummm... :chin: BBIAB!

Yep, the chat uses a java applet, so you have to have java installed in your browser. If it prompts you to go to to a specific site to get it, follow the prompt. Otherwise, I think this is the latest release http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/index.jsp A lot of programs/websites use Java, so it's nice to have installed. It's not automatic with many browsers, though.

And yes, the chat is empty :( We should organize some scheduled chats.

We had a great time on my sons boat yesterday. This new girlfriend is looking great. I hope she is as good for him as she looks.We all went our to eat last night.
It has been a good weekend.I walked on the t/m 2 1/2 miles today. Happy . play music or watch tv when you are on t/m it makes the time go by better.Sometimes I do both.I rather walk to beach,but, it is just too hot now. You can do it!

Well...had a very busy week. Daughter from South Alabama was here through assignment from her job. She stayed with us, & brought 4 yr old daughter. Our son had his 2 daughters, 5 & 2...& it rained all week. The dilemma? Roof still not fixed, because of raining every day. So, we just did the best we could, & enjoyed each others company.The sun finally came out Saturday morning...the day after all the company left. A large part of the roof got plywood on it, so maybe things will be a little better.

I've been offered a weekend trip during the 4th of July. Been thinking very seriously about going. My friend, Connie (TV Station manager) is close friends of the owners of GMT (Gospel Music Television).
The daughter, Mary Fay Jackson, invited Connie to Texas, to sing at a large singing....including "The Hoppers"...& others. Well, she invited me to go with her. Mary Fay was here at our station a couple of weeks ago....& was very nice & down-to-earth. I was all set to be snubbed....but, she wasn't that way at all!
I think it would do me some good to get away for a weekend. The only hold up is my health. Connie understands me, though. If I can't handle everything, I can always go to the motel. We didn't have any plans.....& DH doesn't mind. We'll see. I've been trying to find some meal plans I could put together & store in the freezer, so DH would only have to put in crock pot, for supper. Any ideas?

I really liked that song or whatever it was. It is so true, its seems that I cannot live without some kind of pain killer just to get thru the day. I have a hard time doing things without them. I don't think my r. a. is ever going change much at far a pain and movement.
