A gorgous day is cranking up - sunny and not too hot. So far we've not had a stinking hot day which suits me fine!
Just starting us up with coffee on the deck. Wear your fuzzy robe and slippers as it was close to frost last night.
Back in a bit after I attend to Their Imperial Furry Majesties who are demanding breakfast!

Uh, huh... we've had great weather, Ruthie.
Although I had to turn the heat on last night...
I'm going to the theatre with two dear friends tonight. Friends of my parents who have always been like big sisters to me. :)
What's everyone else up to?

Morning Ellis and Ruthie..... It is beautiful and sunny here today. I think it might even warm up some. I have had my heat on almost every night and even during the day by times. I did not sleep again last night my cough is worse than it was yesterday and I even took cough medicine. :p I hate that stuff. Anyway it didn't even work. I slept for awhile in the lazy boy but I was up at 5:30 and that was it I am still up. I will end up in bed by 7:00 tonight I am sure. As fro my plans for the day, I think I will go do some yard work and pull some weeds. I found some strawberry vines or plants whatever you call them in my side yard which I did not know were even there. ( we have only lived here for 10 years. Duh. So I am trying to clean out the spot where they are. Be back soon got to send the kids off to the bus.

Morning ladies -- hope all is well. I am at work super early! Heading to a conference this morning...hoping they have breakfast items that I can eat as it was tooooo early to cook!
I walked yesterday -- and proud for doing so. I was sooo tired but a coworker asked if I wanted to go to the store, and I walked with her instead of driving her. After how tired and crappy I was feeling! It was only a mile and a half, but a mile and a half more than I would have walked if I just went home.
I am bloated and frustrated with the scale and am trying not to weigh until Monday. But I am a scale ho and can't help it!!!
Happy Friday all. May we all stay OP!

A scale ho! Me too!
The Girls are fed. The fuss was because a darn racoon was drinking out of the hummingbird feeder. Her was still on the deck rail, slurping away, and giving me that WTF look. I will have my camera ready next time.
Ellis, do you have to mention "theatah"? :) I am in withdrawal. What are you going to see?
Aw Little Chick, I'm so sorry your cold got serious. I hope you CAN make it a 7 PM bedtime tonight.
Sarah comes for a full day of gardening today. Yesterday we got the Fairground completed, she sorted pots and cleaned my grubby car yesterday but today we focus on getting plants into the ground. I managed to avoid lifting anything heavy yesterday but did not avoid the darn Chinese Buffet. They should have some pill I can take that will make me want to hurl when I even think of eggrolls!
I have fallen in love with my stone hedghog and have decided to keep him so I need to make another visit to Rue Royal for a housewarming/garden gift for tomorrow's party. I am not cooking up a storm for the potluck! I BOUGHT Ziggy's cole slaw and some frozen cooked shrimp so am taking that, plus wine, of course!
Hersh is looking at me longingly so we are going to walk down for the paper and then tackle the garden jobs. I am going to put Sarah to working on her own on the front bed while I work in the veggie garden out behind the barn. What I like about gardening is the solitude and we are inclined to chat while working together. Silence is good for my soul and behind the barn is a place of quiet except for lovely birdsong.
Have a lovely TGIF and be nice to yourself.

Little Chick, so sorry your cold is worse. :( Get some Buckleys capsules. They have a pack with daytime and nightime capsules. They are FANTASTIC! They stop the coughing, and you really get a good nights sleep. :grouphug: Get some rest, sweetie.
Jenn, congratulations on the walk! :hat:
Ruth, I think we're seeing Annie Get Your Gun. It's a musical, so I won't be able to fall asleep. We used to have a regular subscription to The Little Theatre. Cozy theatre with lots of old people snoring beside you.
Thanks, Sil. :) I hope you finally got that email.
Jodi, at least the weeds will be easy to pull. :D Enjoy your half day off!!

Hi, ladies!
Honestly, it is gorgeous outside right now, but any minute we could have a rainstorm that drops several inches, then sunshine again! Our weather cannot make up its mind. When I got out of class on Wed., I ended up having to take off my shoes and trudge through ankle deep water in the parking lot to get to my car. There was a huge storm while I was in class, but it was beautiful before and after. Sheesh! :dizzy:
Yesterday I had two red. fat hot dogs for lunch, no buns, dipped in mustard. I misread the GFGCG and thought we were supposed to have that kind, rather than the fat free that we are supposed to have. I really enjoyed it but I didn't have anything else but a salad. I had the most horrific cravings for the rest of the day!!! :( I went to a "luau" for our graduating seniors and was thrilled to find chicken and veggie kabobs. I had two of those even though I had a pear and cheese and 15 cashews already that afternoon. However, they simulated a volcano by building a mountain out of five gallon tubs of icecream. Can I tell youwhat a temptation that was? I didn't give in, though. I stayed OP the rest of the night though I had serious cravings. Guess it was worth it...got on the scale this morning and found myself down to 290! Wow! No idea if that will stick tomorrow...probably not, but still it was a thrill. :) I was sure with all those cravings that I would be up a bit today! And yes, I am a scale ho too! :D
Ruth, I am amazed at all your gardening! I agree, the best part of gardening is the mindfulness you have and the peace and quiet. I love becoming alert to the movements of bugs and worms and squirrels and birds, listening to the wind in the trees and the birds' songs. What a wonderful way to spend the day! Hope you are feeling less achy today!
Little Chick, so sorry that your cold is still with you! Hope you are feeling much better soon!!!
Jenn-good going on that walk! Yay for you! Hope the conference has lovely things to eat that are OP! :goodvibes:
Ellis-enjoy that theater visit! What will you be going to see? Hope it takes your mind off things for a bit.
Jodi-I hear you on the weeds! All this rain/sun/rain/sun is making them higher than I have ever seen them! And all sorts of weird things are growing that I have never seen in the garden before! Eeek!
Have a great beach day, everyone!

Happy Friday to All! Just wish is it was payday too. Sniff, Sniff :-)
Does anyone have anything fun or exciting planned for this weekend?
Hubby, Baby Conner and I are going up to Vail for the Teva games tomorrow. I can't wait. We went a couple of years ago and had a great time. I should have plenty of options when it comes to food. I also plan on bringing my snacks (V8 juice and stuff).
Okay, better eat my Kashi Heart to Heart cereal. I am starving eventhough I had three eggwhites before we left the house this morning.

Have a great day girls!

congrats laurie on getting done with school (did you graduate or are you just done for the summer? i'm sure you said somewhere but i missed it) and also your possible loss good for you on both counts!!! i usually obsess over the scale for 3 days before i actually call it a loss but that is my OCD. anyways good for you!!!!
hi sil nice to see you!!!

06-04-2004, 11:24 AM
Jodi, seems like the OCD is catching! ;) I also wait three days before I trust the darn thing. The really odd thing is that if I am standing on it and wonder, "Could that be true", the needle actually moves up several pounds and then won't go back down, no matter how many times I get on and off again! My scale is sadistic! :lol3:
Do any other scale ho's have a sadistic scale? :D
Actually, I have another year of school left before I graduate, but I do not have to take classes in the summer. I haven't had a real summer vacation in years and years! However, I have to work more than full time (at least 45 hours a week) during the summer, so I'm not really on vacation, but having my evenings free will be amazing! My church choir doesn't perform during the summer, so no more weekly practice for me, and no night class. M-F with no obligations! Whopee! :) Well, a couple, but both of them are just for me and my well-being.
Does anyone else have a less stressful schedule in the summer?

Good Morning to all you Chicks:
Little Chick: Having just been laid low with a cold/bronchitis that started like yours, don't let it linger without going to the Dr. That kind of a cough is 'murder' on your ribs. Hope you are feeling better.
Ellis: I'm jealous. Annie Get Your Gun is one of my favorites. There some really great songs in the show. When I was still teaching we did that with our H.S. chorus. Everyone loved it, and had such a great time.
Ruth: I agree with you about the garden solitude. I miss having a vegetable garden. I grew a pineapple this year, actually it takes two years, and yesterday I picked it. Now I have to let it sit, and my friend who grows them frequently, says to turn it every day so that the juice is evenly distributed. I think I will take it with us when we go north. My DH doesn't like pineapple and so I can share it with the kids.
I can't seem to keep off the scale either. I know I shouldn't weigh every day, but it is a great temptation. Since I had my B.P medicine changed I think my metabolism is better, so I have hopes of breaking the plateau.
Hope you all have a great weekend. Lizzie

I'm so mad. I just lost a nice long post. So I'll try to remember what I wrote.
Little Chick: I hope you are feeling better, and since I just had a cold/bronchitis like yours, my advice is don't wait too long, before seeing a Dr. That coughing is 'murder' on your ribsl
Ellis: I'm jealous. Annie is one of my favorite shows. Such great songs. When I was still teaching, that is one of the shows we did with the HS Chorus. We had great fun.
Ruth: I'm with you on the solitude, and gardening. I miss having a vegetable garden. I did have fun growing a pineapple for the first and last time. It takes two years to maturity. I picked it yesterday. Now they tell me I need to rotate it so the juice goes evenly through it. The plant was so big, that now it is gone I can plant at least 6 marigolds in it's place.
I hope you all have a great weekend, and OP. Lizzie

Good morning everyone...
I can't believe how exciting all your lives are! I seem to get up, go to work, come home to work, go to sleep. I manage to fit in 2 or 3 times on the scale in between, though.
Last night we took the puppies (not so small anymore, but they think they are still babies) to McDonalds for their first sundaes of the season. We got into that habit last year when we had to keep one of the dogs kenneled for the summer as a result of knee surgery. When we drove through McDonalds, they knew exactly where they were a fussed until they got out of the car to eat their treats. I guess we will be making a few trips to the Golden Arches this summer. ....and NO, I did not have one. :D
Today the forecast is for 29 C (I can't remember what this is in F), and will probably be our day of summer this year. Our summer have not been very nice for about the last 10 years. If we see 25 C, we think we are lucky. Winters don't change much, though. We suffered through a couple of weeks of -44 C this year.
This weekend is much the same as the rest - weeding gardens, planting flowers and trying to get the yard in a semblance of order. Hopefully we will have it under control this weekend.
Wishing everyone a great day and a terrific weekend. Take care.

Yes, me too! Can't stay away, even when it treats me bad  Sorrt about your cold, Little Chick. I swear by Dayquill, but some folks get the jitters. Hope everyone manages a great day -- especially you Harry Potter fans. Ruth, I thought of you yesterday when I came home and DS (which, by the way, is Darling Sister!) told me one of the chinchillas had gotten loose. Augh -- one ruined stereo cord. Thank God DH is tolerant -- "Oh, I'll fix it this weekend. It's OK." What a gem. I'm trying to get back on the horse Kiko -- thanks. I didn't pack lunch either but found some slim pickins in the work fridge.
Luckily I left a bag of lettuce and 2 servings of spicy red pepper hummus in there with a V-8. And that my friends is lunch. No clue as to what to do for a snack. I only have $2 on me [which is why I didn't go out for lunch] and Lord knows what's in that vending machine.
Are low carb Atkins bars ok as a snack?

jenne1017 You are not alone today - But unlike you trying to stay as close to possible on plan, I plan on stopping for something way off plan because I am totally stressed out. I am sick of cooking eggs and cleaning up messes that I make in the kitchen. My house is a mess, my Guinea Pig is sick, my parakeet is demanding attention and DH is working out of our 1 BR apartment (work computer, files and all). I understand that I am totally stressed out and am not going to have an on pace weekend and will be back on track as soon as I can.

adrianna-
I want to say NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO don't do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But it's not my place to stop you I suppose -- especially if you aren't asking for the help.
I have a sink full of dishes and my george foreman grill is gross. My cat JoJo has this matted hair cowlick right above her tail that is driving me nuts. It keeps sprinkling but not raining, I don't get paid enough, and I am still hungry considering my luch was not stellar.
So I totally relate!

Adrianna, do what you have to do, but remember...the food isn't going to make any of this better...in fact, after you eat off plan, you'll probably have less energy and feel guilty to boot. Staying OP might just pull you through the weekend on at least one high note.
That said, I agree with Jenn. I can totally understand your frustration. I must really be high maintanence, as I fit into clothes that never fit, randomly lost four pounds this morning (according to my sadistic scale) and still feel like binging! Oy!
We're here for you, Adrianna....:grouphug: Just let us know if there is anything we can do, 'kay?
Jenn! :grouphug: I'm sorry you have had such an awful day after trying so hard! It sounds like you are making as much of a success of if as you can! Are you feeling any better yet allergy-wise? Hope you can have a huge and delightful OP dinner! BTW, maybe you can get a couple of bags of nuts at some convenience store with those 2 dollars and stash them at work and in your bag/purse so you don't get caught again. I keep planning to do that... ;)

Hi Everyone... I hope it's okay if I babble here too :foot: I can suffer from footinmouth so please don't hesitate to make sure I meant what you read.
It's a nice day here too... but we've been having such a mosquito problem that I'm getting to where I don't like to be outside much except for mid-day when it's too hot to really enjoy it.
I guess I would qualify as a scale ho if I had a scale that actually worked :goodscale
I don't like the idea of weighing once a week, for a buncha reasons, so (before the dang scale started saying that my husband and both weigh the same every day no matter time of day and we decided it was broken and needed to be replaced) we have a list, we weigh at the same time of day each day (morning, after going potty) and write it down. Then at the end of the week we average the numbers... I think it's a more realisitic look at weight loss... not that it would work for everyone... but I like it :ziplip: I hope it dosen't offend anyone... :tape:

Nuts? I can't do nuts! I eat too many of them when I get them unless I buy them, leave them at home and only pack 15 of them to bring in. But that involved planning and I was having none of that today.
I have a quickie for all -- which may be classified under TMI:
did SB mess up your TOM? See, I am on the pill [big joke -- there's this lesbian on the pill] because I have to take it for non-birth control [obviousky] issues. Anyway, It never lasts more than 48 hours of spotting normally but I've been spotty all week and am not due until next week. It's freaking me out. Could it be because I was OP for a week?
30 minutes until the gym. It may not be that great a workout because I am tired and hungry, but I am going to try!

I say NEVER ignore your body... call your doc and just leave a message to let her know. Menstrual changes can be nothing, can be something... but they shouldn't be ignored. It depends on what kind of pill you're taking too... on some of them breakthrough bleeding can be normal, on others it can be cause for concern or a need to change the medicine... just my $0.02 worth... hope it didn't sound bossy...

Ok -- went down to the vending machine in a moment of weakness -- but they had a small pack of peanuts!!! I debated for a bit, to tell you the truth -- Luna Bar, Chocolate, FRITOS!!! I am sure it was more than 15 but I got the nuts and I ate the entire thing. But I feel better!
I may even venture down to the 4th floor and get water [our filter is broken on the 5th] and take the stairs! Then stair it on the way out to the gym!!!
Yay for peanuts!

Hey girls just a quick check in I am off to bed. I am so tired that my head is spinning and my chest feels like it has a 100 pound weight on it. Through it all I have managed to stay OP. Beachgal You cooking up anything good over there for dinner???? Leftover Taco Bake for me and Mac-n-cheese for DD. (DH is working until 11:00, so no new recipes). I am going to try the Mango-Jerk Chicken you mentioned the other day. The recipe sounds divine!
Jenn Way to make the most of your day. :) Just think- you can grocery shop and replenish this weekend. Do you live right in DC? My bro and family are in South Riding, VA- not too far out. I am cracking up at your lesbian on the pill somment. :lol
Okay, after being ready to smash my new scale to bits- I weighed myself at my mom's today and was 161.
