I'm terrible, I've been lurking so long, I should have posted ages ago but here I am and I'm ready to get started. :D

My name is Kristin, I am a sahm and do parttime daycare. I have struggled with the weight ever since I was 4 years old. As I look back at high school pics, I really wasn't so big, not like I am now: 295 lbs. It seems like such a long way to get to 160 but I really think I will succeed with Dr. Phil's UWLS and good support. That is the key, I think to the whole thing for me.

I lost 110 lbs in OA and got down to 160, I was very comfortable at that weight. But that was over 12 years ago. Gained that all back had my second baby. Lost 60 lbs, had my 3rd baby and I am still carrying that extra weight around now, 6 years later.

It's time for me to do something just for me! I'm happy to be a part of this wonderful message board!! :cb:

Welcome Kristin! You and I seem to have a lot in common! I've always struggled with my weight, too. In high school, I felt so fat, but I found a pair of jeans I wore in high school, and they were a size 16! Not tiny, but so much smaller than I am now. Over the years, I worked my way up to 291 pounds! I was stunned when I bought a scale in February and found out how much I actually weighed. My goal weight is 160 pounds, too. That's a weight I haven't been since junior high! I am a stay at home mom with a five year old son and I babysit another child every day. I started following Dr. Phil's 7-Keys program on February 17, and I've lost a total of 44 pounds so far! Since starting this exercising and eating right, I'm amazed by how much more energy I have. Last summer, I wasted so many days feeling out of shape and lazy, I hardly got outside. So far this spring, I've planted a vegetable garden, re-planted a couple of my flower gardens, I've taken over caring for the yards of a couple of elderly neighbors, and I have tons of energy to play with the kids outside. I love my new-found energy!

And to be honest, I found it easier than I expected. I took Dr. Phil's advice and "got real" with myself. I've changed the way I prepare meals, I hardly buy any junk food at all, we eat a lot more fruit and vegetables. I exercise more, too. I've made changes that I can live with forever, I've really embraced this lifestyle change and I'm so glad I finally did! I just wish I'd done it sooner!

Welcome to the message boards. I don't post frequently, I'm a lurker, too. But I have a lot of strong feelings about Dr. Phil's program. I've made such remarkable changes since reading his book. I hope you get as much out of it as I have! You're right, it's time for your to do something for you! Good luck! ~ Tammy

Hi I'm new too but welcome anyway.

I have over 100 lbs to loose too. My goal is 150 but I will be happy to get to 160.

I started at 285 weighed in last night at 274 so I've got awhile to go. :)

I can really identify with what you were saying about feeling really fat in high school but it was really insignificant to the weight you have gained since. I feel exactly the same. In high school I was probably about 20 lbs overweight and because I am short it really showed. I thought at the time that if I ever weighed over 200 lbs then that would just be the end of the world! It is so sad that we create such terrible images in our minds about being overweight. I would give anything to be at that weight now. I was so much more active, never thought anything of taking long walks and bike rides and played field hockey for school. I look at those pictures and wonder what happened to that person. She got lost under all the layers of fat I guess.

I am also new here. I post on the TOPS board too as I was a member there until work conflicts took over and I could not attend meetings anymore. I watched most of the wlc shows. I am reading the book for the second time and this time very slowly and underlining anything that particularly pertains to me. I was big in school too and lost 80 lbs in high school only to gain it all back plus 20 lbs when I went away to university. Now I am supposedly all grown up and it is time to take control and do something about this. It has been 2 weeks now of really being on plan and I am down 3.5 lbs. A good start and one I am going to continue with!!!
