I only been to Curves 9x but I really love it. Ours is also closed this sat.
I'll only make it 2x this week. I work
10hrs thurs they are closed before I get off, then go in at 7am fri. and this all outside and on my feet. I don't think I'll have energy fri pm. I also found out they open earlier than they say. sign says 8am. but during school year 3x a week they are there at 6:30 and are there 7:30 other days. We are a small town and almost every female teacher is a client. So they nake the exceptions for the teachers. Most of the conversations revolve around the schools. This opening earlier will be great this summer. I don't hardy have the strenght to drive home after a 90-100 degree day and exercise is out so I just go early.
I had trouble making the food class. I'll try again this mon.
Cutiecourt: great to see you are going to join. I'll try to post more often.
I also post on the race to 199 there is a bunch of great girls there. I get all kinds of support.

Hi all, I saw this forum so had to come and see..I start Curves on Tuesday, after I pay and bring in my groceries. Now, I am extremely obese, but am tall so no one, just by looking at me, would thing I am this heavy...Are there other women who go who are in just as bad of shape as I am? I do walk, not consistently, and have started eating a WW plan...but I need to get consistent exercise in a place that I am not the only fat person...I mean, for the most part the girl said that I would be on my own, but I don't want to look like a complete idiot ya know? I gues I am just getting nervous... :^:

Before I bought my home exercise equipment, I used to go to a gym alot (this was a long while ago, about 5 or so years). I was also a bit worried about how I might look to the other members, DianaLS. So many of them had great bodies, while mine was such a chunk!
I got over it, though, by telling myself that simply by being at the gym, I was taking steps to improve myself, just like everyone else there. Working out isn't just for thin people who want to keep in great shape. It's for anyone who wants to improve themselves. Sure, I might be fat, but I have as much right to make myself better as anyone else does.
Worked for me, at least.

Well said, I totally agree. With Curves I find that there are more woman like me and striving for the same goals and it is like having a second home. I was going 6 days, but cut back now to 4 and on the off days I go to our base gym and do the treadmill and bike. Keep up the ambition girls and it will fall off.

Kelly, do you live on an army base too?? I do, and while losing weight I was EXTREMELY intimidated to workout with a bunch of buff army guys, so CURVES was awesome for that...and now that I have lost all my weight I workout at both curves and the gym...I no longer feel intimidated when I run because I figure I have worked my BUTT off (literally) and if people want to stare and watch me run or whatever they want to do or say- NO PROBLEM...(but, I must admit I always feel the need to wear makeup when I workout at the gym and who wants to bother some days, then I go to curves...lol)
Hope everyone had a great EASTER!!!!!!

HI leanne, we don't live on base and the one I go to is Langley AFB we are Coast Guard and they just built this really nice gym with a childs area. Your kid can play and you can work out. They have like 2 treadmills, 2 Elypticals, 2 bikes and alot of free weights. When I don't have the kids I go in the adult area lol and do some leg machines with weights. I was always shy to go as well but these days Im having more confidence in myself. NOW if I could get off this Plateau I have been on.

DianaLS- CONGRATS ON JOINING! I officially joined last week sometime. My 12th workout is coming up and they give us a cute little coffee mug when we reach 12 workouts! You should ask your curves if they offer a weight managment class, mine does and its for 8 weeks. I started 2 weeks ago and its very supportive and helps with all questions. Its working for most of the women taking the class and its reallly helpful! Feeling like youre going to look like an idiot is normal..i was really nervous, i think its just normal! Luckily i wasnt as nervous bc i knew someone that worked there....How is everything going with curves this week???? =)
HELLO LADIES! WHERE IS EVERYONE AGAIN??????? I WISH THIS THREAD WAS BUMPIN!!

Hi Everyone...
well, after reading so much about Curves..I've got an appointment tonight to try it for a week.
A bit of my history:
I was a member of an all woman gym which I loved, loved loved. I moved quite a distance away, but worked in the same area. I tried to go during my lunch time, but it wasn't working out, so I quit. I need to be home early because my husband works late and I need to let the dog out, so going after work at this gym wasn't workable.
There is a Curves on my way home about 5 minutes from my house which will enable me to go and be home by 6:30...I'm so excited about this and I hope I love it..
I need to lose about 50 lbs, I've gained about 15 since my wedding in October..AUGHH...
so...here I am...wish me luck.

Hi Gals,
I am back after being gone for a few months. I missed everyone and see that there are some new people on here. Hello to all you new ones! I had to meet four deadlines for school in March and was busy trying to met them all. Which I did but I had to give up my computer time at home in the evenings in order to get them reached. I am still going to Curves 3 times a week and loving it. Well I best be going for now. This was my first day back at school today after being off for a week and a half for spring break. My kids worn me out today. Talk to you all really soon. Take care and keep working hard to reach your goals.

Hey Didi! Welcome to out thread! Not many people update on here anymore. Im mainly writing to myself it feels like! Anyway! Congrats on making the first step! =) I LOVE CURVES! Seriously, ive only been going for officially 2 weeks now and ive lost 6 pounds and no telling how many inches! I think youll really enjoy it, especially if youve been to a womens gym before. It was the first time id ever tried anything like it. Curves isnt like any other so called "gym" ive been too. Its different, its supportive, and very inspirational. There are always ladies that are in the same boat that youre in. I think once youre week is up youre going to want to join=) At least I did! Keep me updated, i check this site everyday=) Hey Kar! Glad to have you back...havent really seen any of the people that inspired me to join curves on....Its really sad

Hi Court, Hi Kar....
Well, I had my first visit last night and I'm pretty impressed. I wasn't sure if I would get the same type of workout as I did at my other gym, but I was sweatin for sure...
There are 2 things I'm concerned about. One is doing the reps so fast...I'm afraid of injury. I've watched some women who seem to be jerking rather than gliding. I'm going to just do slower reps until I get a better feel for the machines.
The other is that there wasn't a real "trainer" there. Someone who is educated in the field. But I guess I've been around gyms for a while, so I can gather info myself.
The group of women were great as was the owner which made me feel very comfortable going there...
I do think I'll become a member, since I did feel cardio in the workout and it's quick, easy and fun. I'm sure I would do it for at least a year or until I reach my goal.
I hope that more people post so I can hear about their experiences also...
Then I'm anxious to be weighed and measured...Accountability is important to me in weight loss...I think I need someone to actually see me on the scale and record those numbers...
Wish me luck..

Last night was really packed we only had 3 open spots. They said it was like that all day. We decided the reality of summer was starting to have an effect now that the weather has changed. Have a great day all.

Hi Ladies,
My Curves was really packed last night too. We were trying to figure out why and the reality of summer hit the nail on the head. I have been going to Curves for a year and half now and love it. I have lost about 30 pounds and don't remember how many inches. But I can tell you I just love going to my Curves. I had to miss all of last week because I pulled a muscle in my back and was on painkillers. So I basically slept all last week away. But I sure did miss working out. It makes me feel happier and I don't worry so much about my body image as I did last week. Glad to hear that you are all so happy with your Curves experiences so far. Keep up the good work!
Hope everyone has a great day on Wednesday!
Take care,
Kerry

Happy Wednesday Curves Ladies
Well, FINALLY I am at my GOAL WEIGHT...YAY!!! My goal was 125-130, and this morning I was 124.4. That is 38lbs since joining curves, but 66lbs since having my daughter...I am loving how curves fits into my schedule but not sure how it will work out when my hubby goes back to work (he's on paternity leave now)...guess we'll have to see....we have an amazing gym here on base that is about a minute from my house....hmmm!
Happy Hump day to everyone, congrats to everyone who is going to curves and loving it! Good for us all for getting out there and doing it!

Hi Curvesters....
Tonight will be my 2nd time going...I"m excited about it. I'll go again on Saturday and decide whether or not I'll become a member. I'm pretty sure I will. I went on Monday and I'm still a bit sore today so it tells me that the muscles were definately worked.
Leanne...how long did it take for you to lose the weight...? How long have you been going to Curves?
KAR...I hope you're feeling better and are able to continue to go to Curves...
I'd love to be able to lose about 50 lbs...but I'll take what I can get..haha...

Hi Again....
No one is here, but I thought I'd write anyway..
I went to Curves last night, and I must say I really enjoyed it. I was so energized when I got home. I think it's safe to say that I will become a member. It fits right into my schedule and the time goes by so fast. I know that I can do it cuz it's on my way home from work and gets me out by 6:30 in time to let my dog out since my husband doesn't get home til around 8ish. If I go right from work, I'm more apt to stick with it...it's when I go home first that it's hard to go back out, especially to the gym
So the game plan is to go again on Friday, join ...and then start going 3 days week/ MWF. I hope that gets me into doing my treadmill at home on the off days.
Now only if I can start getting the eating in check....one thing at a time..one thing at a time..ahahaa...
As you can see, I've done South Beach and BFL.....
