Default Whole Wheat Pasta

I was grocery shopping this weekend and tried to find WW pasta. The only thing I could find was whole wheat blend pasta. Is the okay? If not, do you have any recommendations on where I can find WW pasta?

Amanda, do you have any health food stores nearby?
You COULD make your own!

Amanda, I found mine in the health food section of our Wegman's. Do you have any health food stores near you? If not, I would think that you could probably order it online. Does anyone have a link to a good online store for such things?

That said, we tried the Arugula and Pesto Linguine from the SBD Cookbook yesterday. I could not find spelt linguine, so I got spelt spaghetti instead. The taste was really good, but I kept finding really crunchy (like bits of sand...teeth breaking crunchy) bits in my mouth. They were rather annoying and disgusting. Do you think this means that my DH didn't wash the arugula well enough and got some sand in the dish, or is this something that is common with spelt products?

There is something about whole wheat pasta that just seems blasphemous! Besides, it must be an "aquired taste" I LOVE spaghetti squash, though.

Actually, I was surprised to find that the WW pasta not only tastes really good, but it smells like heaven after you drain it! Like fresh baked cookies or bread. I might be having dieting delusions but I really liked it!

After all, regular pasta is made from wheat too, so it's not that different. I find sweet potatoes to be totally different from regular potatoes. That's one that I have not been able to deal with yet!

I'm sure theres a health food store around here. I'll have to look for one over the weekend. I love pasta and it was one thing I was looking forward to adding back now that I'm in P2.

I don't mind the taste of whole wheat pasta but I am not sure if I will add it back since you can only have 1/2 cup of cooked pasta. But my eye to stomach ratio is not where it should be yet so maybe when I do get further into phase 2, I will be able to be satisfied with 1/2 cup.

Do you have a Trader Joe's by you? They usually have WW pasta.

Hey, Ellis, I just call 'em like I see 'em. When finding a package of frozen edamame sends you into the happy dance, you know something has to be wrong!

Nicolee, what about a Whole Foods? They sell WW pasta as well. I've even seen some sold in Giant!

Nette! I so remember those days...one time, some chemical was released in the computer server room at work, and it caused the fire alarms to go off. Since no one could figure out how the chemical was released, we members of the cube farm spent three hours outside in the sun, talking and relaxing. Now that was a good day out of the cube!

Hey, since you like raspberry, why don't you try the raspberry chicken recipe? I'm having it tonight and will tell you tomorrow what I think. It uses raspberry vinegar, so as long as you do not have a garnish, I think it is safe for Phase 1. It's in the SBD Cookbook. Yes, I know it's not a cheesecake, but....

BTW, speaking of cheesecake, Ruby Tuesday has a "Low Carb Cheesecake" made with splenda. It has a nut crust and is actually an Atkins cheesecake. With 400 cals, it's something you would want to split with someone, but I think it might be a good treat now and then! Just a thought.

Laurie -- I had that cheesecake. I don't care for the stuff but that - that was yummy. I had a few bites a while back when I posted my Ruby Tuesday thread.

I "split" it with a friend -- she ate 3/4 and left me with 1/4 so I couldn't eat any more!

Hey, it's good to hear that the cheesecake is tasty...we have been going to RT on Friday's since we know we can eat the food. I figured I could keep my eye on that cheesecake as a possible dessert.

Have you had the broccoli cheese soup? It is fantastic...I really hope it is OP!
