Talking Thursday Chatter-last of May

Greetings to all those who weigh in on Thursdays or any other day of the week !
We are a great group here. We give support and hope and just have a good time together! So, come join in.

Susan, your supper sounded great. Why are your finger tips numb? Are you still retaining lots of water?
I am sure you are ready for school to be out.

Tammy, we didn't hear from you this morning....how are you feeling? Is this your last week of school, too? I hope so. You need to stay home and do nothing. Or even better, you and your girlfirends need a shopping getaway.

Sis, does your daughter have your summer all planned out?
Mimi, How is your weather? How hot does it get in the summertime?

Maureen, How's my friend doing? Are you still journaling?

We haven't heard from some people in a loooong time. I hope more will post.

I'm waiting until noon when I can call Smokey's vet. I want to get him on that medicine so he'll feel better. This weekend, I could hear his little heart murmur and it freaked me out. I was a basket case all weekend.
I'll let y'all know what happens. Until noontime, I don't think I'll be eating much of anything.

I am hoping for a long cool summer. It can get to 34C with 100% humidity for a couple of weeks at a time. This last week has been very wet and 10-23, the tulips are just finishing and the lilacs are blooming, grass and dandelions are growing like mad.
On Friday night we (my son) went to the humane society and adopted a cat, a male, white, short haired. He is very affectionate and talkative. I think Mike is calling him Edward.
Dan my youngest has about 3 weeks of school left.
Today is a holiday, the 24'th of May is a celebration of Queen Victoria's birthday. Usually it marks the beginning of camping season, and fireworks on Monday night. No local fireworks this year though, I prefer them on Canada Day July the 1. I worked this morning at time and a half and got paid for the holiday too, nine clients in 5 hours though, whew!

Happy Holiday to our Canadian friends!

Well, the vet called me this morning. I went and picked up the tablets. they are chewable, chicken flavored. Smokey ate his half tablet down without even knowing what he'd done. He hasn't thrown up (a common side affect) so I'm hoping we'll be okay. The vet said that after 48 hrs, I should see improvement. Can't wait!!!!!

Mimi, your flowers sound beautiful. And, you have a kitty. Good for you. The name, Edward, sounds very regal.

How was everyone else's day?

Yes, this is the last week of school. Yesterday was our 2nd grade picnic. It was a beautiful day. Got alot done (permanent folder info, etc.) BUT I hurt so much from sitting at that picnic table for that long. I did get up and walk around some, and I was sitting on a cushion, but I hurt.

Mimi, WOO HOO to extra pay at work!!!

I'm so glad about Smokey, Tina. Keep us posted.

It's the last week of school!!!!!!!!!
Just think -- no more getting up early, putting on make-up early, getting dressed up early.....WOW!

How is everyone today. Are you journaling????? If not, are you counting points in your head????? Come on group, we can do this......we can beat our metabolism ........ we can lose inches and pounds.

Smokey update----He ate his second 1/2 chew this morning without realizing it was medicine. He's eaten good this morning and hasn't thrown up. I do believe that the very low dosage won't cause him any problem. Hopefully, tomorrow his little heart will start slowing down and he'll get his energy back.

I'm going to get on the treadmill now. Have a great day.

Tammy: Did the doc give you any medication to help with the pain, or is he still doing tests.
Its hockey night so its time to get caught up on my emails.
Happy Holidays Ladies!!!!!!

Tina, sounds good for Smokey!!

I'm on Vicodin for the pain, but it really doesn't seem to help that much. I go to see him again today after school.

Hey all, I'm still here. I just don't get online as much. I am bumming cuz I haven't been doing so hot. I don't know what's wrong with me. I seem to be losing my determination lately. I know partly cuz I have put on probably about 6 lbs. Which I know I have to do something about now before it gets out of hand. I think I am also nervous about having thyroid surgery next week. I have to have 1/2 of my thyroid removed. Has anyone else had to have that done? Did it cause problems with gaining weight? I read up a little on google on it and it did mention a mild weight gain in some. That really bothers me cuz I don't want to ruin everything I have accomplished over the last 5 yrs or so. Sorry such a long post. Just had to blab a bit I guess. Any replies would be appreciated though. Thanks a lot guys....Sis

Tina, I'm here!!! Long day at school yesterday, so I crashed when I got home. I always get to school about 7:15, the kids were there from 8-1, then we had work day from 1-6.

I overdid it on food yesterday. Kay brought in her delicous frozen cheesecake for lunch. Yummmmmmmmmmmy. I couldn't pass that up. About 3:15, the office had pizza for us. Did I say no thank you? No way!!!!!!!!!!!! Hopefully I'll do better today.

Sis, I've never had Thyroid surgery. In fact, I can't think of anyone that I know who has had it. (except you of course!) You need to be coming here young lady!!!! We need to know what is going on with you! We can't talk things over with you if you aren't here. We can make you chuckle. And the list goes on and on. Get online more often!!!!!!!!!!!

That last sentence goes to the rest of the people who don't post enough anymore (including me).

Oh my gosh, I thought ya'll didn't love me anymore!!! I hadn't been getting notifications and wondered why everyone had stopped posting. This has been a real hectic week but still get on line every day. Duh!!!! There ya'll are without me.

School is officially over!!! YEA!!!!! All of my stuff is packed up and in my car. I had 4 small file boxes full of stuff. Everything else, I either gave to students, teachers or threw away. Figure in 6 years when I go back, I'll buy new. It feels strange knowing I'll be off for awhile. I'm exhaustesd!!

Tina, glad Smokey is doing better. Poor kitty!!

Tammy, vicidon knocks everything out for me. Do they knowc anything yet? Relax now summer is here.

Mimi & Sis, good to hear from you. We've missed you.

I went to the dr. this week asnd said the baby is going to be small. I've never thought he would be too big. My dr. put me back on blood pressure meds. I was hoping it wouldn't get high again but it has creeped back up. I think almost 51/2 months is pretty good without it. Went to the ped. cardiologist yesterday... hisd heart looks good. What a relief!!!!!!!!!!! I can mark one ,more thing off my worry list. She said they would probably do another echocardiogram before they take him to surgery but she would come up and look at it. She was really nice. He was an active little thing, sure hope I can keep up with him! As all in all, things are looking better.

Pat talked to a friend who is a OBGYN/Surgeon and he has comforted us alot. He has done a lot of check with specialists and checked on doctors for us. He says once the baby has his surgery and is able to come home , he will be just fine. We plan on having dinner with them soon. He is in his last month of residency and has been a lifesaver.

My hands and feet are still swelling but hoping that with school being out it will improve.

I'm off to San Antonio for the week. My niece graduates tomorrow. I promise I'll check my mail and post from down there.

You'll are they BEST!!!

Susan

Hi All,
It's great to see so many posting. I think I was in a deep funk the other day. I wondered if anyone wanted to continue the thread!

Tammy, I hope you get to feeling good. I bet being away from school is bound to help.

Susan, I'm so glad your baby is doing good. That's great that Pat found a doctor to talk to. I'm sure you'll feel better to have someone to ask questions.

I guess I've done okay with food this weekend. We went to the movies last night and did not have popcorn. Were we good or what! We went to see "The Day After." It was a hoot.

Everyone take care and enjoy the rest of the Memorial Day Holiday.

Susan, isn't it great knowing that you are finished for a few years? I've been giving things away over the past few years to students. They love my "trash". lol

As for the baby, things sound good!!! How small is small? Pat's friend sounds so helpful and comforting for you. We all need a friend like that!!

Have fun in San Antonio. Congratulations to your niece!!!

I'm sure being out of school is going to help me emotionally and physically. Right now I feel like I'm catching up on sleep! lol I'm always taking a nap.

I told Bob the other day that we should go to a movie. He reminded me that I wouldn't be able to sit through one without hurting. Darn. He's right.

Have a great Memorial Day!

Happy Holiday to all our US members and a Happy Monday to our Canadians.
I got a nice surprise this morning. Larry took me to Einsteins Bagels. I love those sun-dried tomato ones. He likes hot, hot everything and got a spicy jalepano.
Now, I'm going outside to work on the house. It rained last night and so we can't paint right now. I need to clean all the windows. Larry is taking down the screens for me.

I'd rather be at the beach today. Oh, Smokey is so much better. Thanks everyone for asking.
Tammy, how is Kramer doing now?
Mimi, are y'all having fun with Edward?
Susan is gone.
Sis, I hope you aren't as nervous as you were.
Maureen, come on friend and post.
