100 lb. Club - 4th of July Challenge
05-15-2004, 03:34 PM
Anybody up for a challenge?
Let's celebrate summer and break out those bikinis! (Okay, I've never worn one and never will, but you get the idea. . .) Set a weight goal, an exercise goal, a size goal, or any goal that strikes your fancy.
Since I didn't make my Mother's Day goal, I'm going to try, try again. I want to be in a regular size 12 instead of a relaxed fit size 12. It's time for a recommitment--I can do this! How about you?

OK, Im with you. My Independance Day goal is: SIZE 16 JEANS!! :crossed:
05-15-2004, 10:27 PM
My goal is to be down to 199. I am kind of pushing it, but I thought I would give it a try. Good luck everyone who makes a challenge to themselves. :) :)
05-16-2004, 12:47 AM
To be able to wear my new summer shirts that I bought last year and are now to tight.
05-16-2004, 10:44 AM
I'm going for an exercise goal this time. I would like to be able to jog 1 mile non-stop. I started jogging a couple of nights ago and found it really invigorating. It's not something I can see myself doing long-term because I know how hard it is on my knees and body. I'm thinking I may enter a 5k run in October, maybe :)
05-17-2004, 10:25 AM
a challenge sounds like what i need right now. i think i will go for a weight goal. i would like to be down to 275 lbs. by then. good luck to all of you.
05-17-2004, 11:38 AM
I'm gonna be hard on myself.. I'd like to be at 170 lbs by then (15 lbs.)
05-17-2004, 12:25 PM
Gretchen, I am trying for 20 pounds so we can both be hard on ourselves together :drill: . I don't know if I will make it, but I am sure going to try hard and push hard for it :strong: . I am going on vacation shortly after that, and I want my mom and relatives to be able to see all the hard work I have been doing :flow2: . If I don't make it I am not worried. It will be close. :goodluck:
05-17-2004, 01:14 PM
I'm in for 210 by the 4th, that's 15 pounds. We'll see. My class reunion is between now and then so that's great motivation to get it done. Good luck everyone!
05-17-2004, 01:19 PM
I'm going for the Onederland goal by July 4th!
05-17-2004, 02:49 PM
Ok Girls and Guys--- We can do this!! Tammy-- lets keep tabs on each other! I sometimes need motivation to get to the gym!
05-17-2004, 04:39 PM
Gretchen you are off to a wonderful start with your 4 pound loss. That was an excellent amount of weight to lose for the week. I lost 3, so I am on my way to. My only exercise has been walking up until now. I started the gym today. I like going to the gym. I'd love to see us all accomplish our goals for this challenge. I'll do my best to keep you motivated! :drill:
05-17-2004, 07:55 PM
This Is Fun!!!
05-18-2004, 12:47 AM
Well I guess my goal is not to gain anymore weight by July 4th... No, that's not good enough. I have to stop the insanity (where have I heard that before?) and start losing again. Since I'll actually be in the U.S. of A. for July 4th (going to Kentucky with the sweetie to visit his traiterous sister who married an American) I guess I should set a firm goal...say 10lbs? Mind you, I'll be needing those of you who are coming to Chicago to keep an eagle eye on me while I'm there, okay??
05-31-2004, 06:58 PM
Bringing this back up for the new people. Up for a challenge??
05-31-2004, 07:06 PM
I post on another thread, but I'll join your July 4th challenge, although a bit late. From today, May 31st to July 4th I'd like to lose 15 lbs. So that's my goal. I guess I will start posting my losses on your threads as well.
Good luck all.

Hey guys... Im still here too. I was off plan for a while, but Im back and ready to LOSE!! My 4th goal is to be in a size 16, but thats REALLY pushing the envelope! I need you all to keep tabs on me!! GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!
05-31-2004, 08:29 PM
Hi everyone, I'm new to posting but have been lurking on this thread for awhile. You are all very inspiring :^: . I would like to lost 10 lbs (down to 218 from 228) by July 4. Good luck to everyone!
05-31-2004, 08:34 PM
Im going to say 10 lbs for me to start. From 360-350. Then I can weigh myself on the scale at the gym.
Ok I had a bigger initial weight loss than I expected so I am going to go for a total of 20 lb loss so down to 340.
05-31-2004, 08:43 PM
I'm in. The first 10 or so are usually fast for me, so I'm going to shoot for 20 pounds by July 4. That'd be 289. Good luck everybody!
06-01-2004, 11:49 AM
I'm still in this and I'm getting closer and closer to my goal of fitting in my shirt. I tried it on last week and the only place it is snug is on the last button where my belly squishes out when I sit. So I think I will make it by the 4th.
06-01-2004, 11:50 AM
Just wanted to say hello. I'm from Paris, Illinois although I don't live there anymore. I did live in Charleston for awhile back in the 90's. Small world. Good luck on the 20 lbs!
06-04-2004, 02:45 PM
Bringing this back up to the top again just in case someone missed it before.
How is everybody doing? I have 10 more pounds to make my goal of 199.
06-04-2004, 04:55 PM
I've got 9 to go...... We'll see. I am hoping for it~!
06-04-2004, 05:21 PM
I'm hoping for mine also and working at it very hard. I am going to be close. I hope that I make it. It's an average of 3 pounds per week and lately I have been at about 2 pounds each week.
Edit: I had to look at the calendar. There are least four more weigh weeks to go. So, I don't have to average quite 3 pounds per week. That takes off a little pressure. I have faith I can do this though.
06-04-2004, 06:19 PM
Oh... If we have 4 weeks then I think we will be OK! I hope so anyway!!!!!!
06-04-2004, 07:04 PM
I am wearing one of the shrits that it was my goal to be in by the 4th. The last button is still a wee bit tight but it was the only thing in my closet today. So I should be good by the 4th. It looks great when I am standing it just rides up a bit when I sit.
06-04-2004, 11:06 PM
It sounds like we are all doing really well. Howie, it feels so wonderful to fit into clothes that did not fit before. Sometimes that is the only way it registers in my brain that I am loosing weight. When I look in the mirror I don't see the slimmer me. I just don't see where it is coming off, but I know by the way my clothes are getting to big that it is going.

I just want to say CONGRATS to everybody for being so dedicated to this challenge!! Ive been doing OK, and slowley becoming dedicated again. Thanks for all the inspiration!!!
06-06-2004, 01:14 PM
Amy Jo, it's great to hear that you are getting dedicated and motivated again!! How is your goal of being in size 16's going?? I hope that you are still working on it even if you know that you may not make it. It's the attempt that counts so much!! I knew my goal might not be attainable, but it made me push even harder and it looks like I am going to make it!! You are strong and you can do it. :) :)
06-06-2004, 02:31 PM
I altered my goal a bit:) I actually think that I can do it, which, is amazing.
06-06-2004, 11:22 PM
Apryl, I have every confidence in the world that you can do it!!
06-06-2004, 11:31 PM

06-07-2004, 02:44 PM
Hello everyone. I'm back from vacation and I don't dare step on a scale until I've had about a week to get rid of some fluids. I might weigh Friday. It depends on how my feet look. If they are still swollen I will wait a few more days. I want in on this challenge. I want to lose at least ten pounds from what I weigh when I do weigh. I plan on walking and guzzling water and of course couting carbs.
Good luck to everyone who is in on the challenge and congrats to those of you that are doing so well. I missed this place while I was gone.
I will post how I did on my diet and what I learned in a new thread. I just wanted to jump in here and enter the challenge.
06-07-2004, 02:50 PM
sounds like everyone is doing great. i have only 11 lbs. to go. keeping my fingers crossed.
06-07-2004, 04:20 PM
Gail, Welcome back from vacation. I hope you had a good time. Good luck on the challenge.
Audrey, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you also.
Bannie, I also wish to extend you much encouragement with your challenge. As for a teen buddy, I don't know.
06-07-2004, 04:46 PM
Well, I lost my first week, so this challenge is getting more challenging for me, but knowing I said I would do it helped make me come back again, and I'm going to keep trying.
06-07-2004, 04:51 PM
Angela, Just try your best, it is all you can do. Are you having motivation problems or eating issues or a combination of a bunch of stuff?? Is there anyway we can help you?
06-10-2004, 12:59 PM

06-30-2004, 04:49 PM
Only a couple of more days left in the challenge so I thought I'd bring this up so we can remember where we wanted to be by (U.S.) Independence Day.
Doesn't Canada have a holiday similar to the U.S. Labor Day in September? I think it's high time we have a Canadian holiday challenge!!
06-30-2004, 07:05 PM
I think I am going to make it!!
Sheila, I am not familiar with Canadian holidays, but I would certainly be happy to take part in one. Just let us know when.
06-30-2004, 11:54 PM
Ok I made my challage. I can now where my shirt that I have been wanting to where. Here is a picture for proof.
07-01-2004, 11:30 AM
All right! Congratulations, Howie.
If that's your backyard, by the way, it's beautiful--love the green rolling hills (although maybe that's just the photo, but it does look like rolling hills).
07-01-2004, 11:54 AM
CONGRATS howie, that is so great. i have 3 more lbs. to get to 275 by the 4th. i believe i can do. good luck to all of the rest of you.

07-01-2004, 06:39 PM

07-06-2004, 02:03 PM
Well, I don't know if I made my goal or not since I have decided not to weigh this week. As of last week I was down to 201 and I am very pleased with that. To me that is an accomplishment.
