I just freaked out when I looked at the calendar for the date thinking that YESTERDAY was my little sister's birthday... ugh.

Ok, now that I've calmed down. Hi everyone!

I am having the WORST morning. My sister's cat has struck again and peed on my bed. Which means that, not only do I have to do all my laundry and pack for my vacation tonight, I need to wash and dry my bedding and throw out my foam mattress, and try to get everything "back to normal" before my BF shows up. Plus, I need to shave my legs in the worst way. I could have kicked that little snot of a cat.... not that I did. It just makes me so mad because he's so picky about the litterbox. My sister doesn't lift a finger around the apartment, she's a HUGE slob. She won't even put dirty dishes in an empty dishwasher or pick up her clothes from the bathroom floor. It's disgusting. So, when I was taking my CNA class and was never home, things got really trashed at the apartment. Well, I finally managed to dig the apartment out of the gutter and then my back has been so bad lately that I have only been doing the minimal amount of stuff. Well, I figured it was her turn to empty the litter box... guess I was wrong. Ugh, and I' m so darned mad because last night i started cleaning and she went into her room and shut the door! Ugh. I'm just fuming today. She thinks it is FUNNY when he pees on my bed. I need to cool down or I'm going to end up saying a LOT of things to her that I'll regret later.

Other than that... my back was fine until I went to the chiropractor last night. Ugh. Now that same spot hurts me again. I should have just cancelled my appointment. I was telling my sister that my back hurts worse after I went than before and she was like "well YEAH, duh"... I wasn't aware that they were supposed to hurt you.

Ok, I'm gonna stop ranting.
Goober Rhinobuns signing off until I'm in a better mood.

Shimma: Yup, that'd freak anyone out! I take it you haven't missed it!?

I'm feeling in a blah mood. Not awake-yet not tired. Disgusted w/myself cuz I haven't done a lick of exercise this week. I've stayed OP but nothing's happening (I'm sure due to lack of exercise). I told my boss (the nice one not the witch) about my frustrations while trying on jeans the other day. She asked if I was sure I was in the misses and not the Junior section :?: Don't think that store differentiates so I could have been trying on Junior clothes instead of misses. ARGH. Have I mentioned lately how sick I am of DH being on 3rd shift? The "2 weeks" has turned into 3 months! I feel in the mood to slap someone

Shimma- my back usually aches yet after going to the chiro, it takes a couple days to get it "relaxed" after. As for the cat peeing on your bed--tell the slobby sis if it does that again the cat's going to the pound. That YOU don't have time to clean up after HER cat OR her. Do you just dump her stuff in her room when cleaning? Like the dirty clothes??

Shimma

Brenda: We should get together and have a pissy party. We both seem to be in the same mood this morning.

Shimma

Yes I do dump stuff in her room. I think it makes her mad. Which kinda makes me giggle. Does this make me a bad person?

05-06-2004, 09:33 AM
Know that feeling Rhonda. I forget everything lately. Wait till you get older!

Well..........drum roll please!
Guess who ate a vegetable last night and actually liked it? Yup that's right, it was me!

My husband was out and I was making myself a burger on the grill and was going to make a salad but instead I took out some fresh broccoli that I had bought. I blanched it and made a cheese sauce with just cream and shredded cheese. Poured that over it and YUM! I actually ate all the broccoli...almost a 1/2 cup. I know this may sound strange to be so excited over this but I have NEVER like nor eaten a veggie!!!!!! But for some reason lately I have actually been craving them. :dunno:
I am just happy that I like it......so much so that tonight I am going to make Chicken Broccoli and Ziti and I will just have the chicken and broccoli....hubby can have the ziti!

Decided against the no nylons and sandals for Saturday. Couldn't find any that I really liked for the dress and seemed silly to buy a pair of shoes for just this one day. So I bought my black nylons and will wear my black satin pumps and call it a day. Will probably be more comfortable anyway.

Well, I for some reason am not feeling quite right this morning....most have been the broccoli  I didn't have any more wine than I usually do :dunno: My head is kind of swimmy though.....maybe it's my allergies. I will take some aspirin and hope it all goes away. Have a lunch date with some friends at work.

Be back later.

lady_adnerb
05-06-2004, 09:38 AM
Yup Shimma-we seem to be on the same wavelength. Which could be a bad thing. lol
And nope, doesn't make you a bad person to do that. Makes HER a bad person for expecting YOU to do it all.

Jane:  congrats on liking veggies :)

Geez, that is what I get for writing a novel!

Shimma: I would definitely keep dumpin the stuff back in her room! And maybe keep your bedroom door closed so that the cat doesn't get in.

Brenda: Grumpy again! I know how you feel about the exercise. I discovered the other day that I am taking in the same amount of calories that I am burning and so that means that I would either have to cut down on the calories or bump up the exercise . I hate exercise! But I do it :(

Shimma
05-06-2004, 09:47 AM
Yeah, I'll have to start doing that, the only problem is that it sort of punishes my cat, who is the best cat in the whole wide world and who was mortified this morning that Joey had peed on the bed. He kept trying to bury it once he found it. Bad thing is... he kept looking at me as if I was the one who peed on the bed!

Jane: Did your boss say anything about the misplaced IM??????

jane8760
05-06-2004, 09:49 AM
She didn't really say much.....I hope she forgets today. Good thing she is not in this state!

OK........now I am mad  I just logged my dinner from last night into FitDay and I took in over 2000 calories yesterday! My carb count was only 19. I know that Atkins says not to worry about the calories but that kind of freaked me out.

What do you all think? Remember I am not losing very fast here so I must be doing something wrong.

jdoggmartin
05-06-2004, 10:02 AM
Good morning, grumpy Atkins ladies! :D

Shimma: ARGH! I don't blame you for being mad. That sounds like a miserable living situation. And, cats peeing on beds is definitely NOT acceptable!

Brenda: I have that same "blah" feeling -- I think mine's due to tiredness, TOM and not wanting to work.

I have been OP for a few days now and exercising, so I feel great in that area. Thank goodness my unmotivated feeling passed because I still need to lose 30 pounds! But, I realized my water drinking is almost non-existent. I love water! I usually drink it constantly, but I made the mistake of buying Diet Sunkist, and I can't tear myself away from it. It is the tastiest stuff! But, it's about gone, so hopefully I can regain control of myself again.

I think I am going to visit Curves and see what they're all about. I've thought about it for a long time. I always said I was going to do it, but I just never did. I just don't do strength-training on my own. I need some way to force myself to do it. I figure if I pay for a membership, I'll feel like I have to go. Maybe I'll look at some other gyms around the area, too.

Is anyone watching the final episode of "Friends" tonight? Everyone sure is making a huge deal out of it.

I hope you all have a great Thursday.

Take care,
Jina

Jane: Congrats on your veggie discovery! I'm starting to worry about my calories, too. They just seem awfully high some days.

I've watched it for awhile, too. My mom wouldn't let me watch it in high school because she didn't think it was appropriate, but ever since then, I've been watching. I'm just afraid tonight's episode is going to be more sad than funny.

Morning!

Shimma, what a pleasant surprise from the cat. I like the idea of just dumping everything in your sister's room... a 'not quite so subtle' hint! :)

I'm sure everything will start looking up, Brenda - do you think your DH will have to stay on the 3rd shift for much longer? 3 months seems like such a long time for those hours.

Jane - I read about your 'boss blooper' yesterday, and I had to chuckle. That's like an employee's worst nightmare coming true nearly! Hopefully your boss took it in good humour!

Jina - I'll be watching Friends tonight too! I'm only a very casual fan, it's one of those shows that you can just sit down and randomly enjoy and you don't have to really follow it much for it to make sense or be funny. And in light of current happenings in hockey, I've decided that a Lightning-Flames pairing in the finals would be neat, what do you think? Even the team names seem to kind of have a similar theme.

And, hoo boy, gas prices skyrocketed here over the last couple days! My gas is 95 cents/litre...unfortunately I don't know what that is in American terms, but all you need to know is that it's *really* expensive, and it jumped 10cents in ONE DAY!! Yikes. I nearly died at the gas station when I noticed.

Shimma
05-06-2004, 11:25 AM
Gas is getting sooooooo bad. It's starting to scare me. There are gas stations around here who won't take credit cards for gas anymore because the transaction costs them money. A LOT of gas stations are making you prepay now before they will authorize the pump. I just have a really bad feeling deep inside. I'm starting to look at some hybrid cars. With one of those babies, I will only have to fill my tank every 2 weeks.

05-06-2004, 12:01 PM
Good morning! I'm sorry some of you are feeling a bit pissy this morning. I'm in my normal perky mood (maybe it's the alcohol consumption.....)

Shimma (Goober) - I would have killed that cat! Ok, maybe not killed it, but definitely gotten rid of the thing. The least it could have done was pee on your sister's bed! ;)

Brenda - What's 3rd shift? Is that graveyard? DH got asked to work graveyard for one week at his work. It's been 3 weeks now and they don't seem to be in any hurry to put him back on his regular hours.

Jane - Congrats on the veggies!!!! Isn't it funny how we change? Over 2000 calories could certainly be impacting your weight loss. You may need to cut down on portions of something. Maybe you could post in the food log and we can figure out what can change.

Jina - You've been doing so great! I've totally fallen off the exercising this week and I feel like a slug. And I'm a huge Friends fan so I'll definitely be watching tonight. I was so pathetic last week and actually cried at the end of the episode. :o

Julie - Gas prices suck! My car only takes premium, too so it's extra expensive ($2.35 - $2.40 a gallon :faint: ). Happily, we've got really good public transportation here so DH takes that to work now instead of driving and as soon as I start dragging my butt out of bed on time, I'll be riding my bike to work again (it's only a mile away).

Not much new here. I'm feeling all bloated and gross, but that could be due to my lack of exercise this week. I'm starting to think I really am a changed woman! Wednesday is always happy hour day after work, but I was a good girl and nursed my one drink and then went home and stayed there for a change. I was actually in bed by 10:00. That almost never happens!

I'm itching for the weekend. I've hit a patch of non-motivation at work. I'm not sure why.

Anyway - everyone have a great day! I'm sure I'll be around lots today ;)

Lekker
05-06-2004, 12:07 PM
Yeah, gas sucks. The bad thing about Quebec, is that even during normal times the gas is 10c/litre more expensive than Ontario. I'm planning on driving home next weekend, so I think I'll make sure I have just enough gas in my tank to get to Ontario and then fill up there! :)

Luckily, I only have about 4 more days at my off-campus work location (where I need the car to get to), then after that I'm solely at the university which is insanely easy to get to with public transportation.

Star - one drink? 10pm? Oh dear! How are we supposed to live vicariously through you if you let us down like that?! ;)

05-06-2004, 12:08 PM
Hey Star: I will keep posting in the Food Log and see if you all can help. I think it is the wine! Oh woe is me. :( I also noticed that the pecans have got to go! They are over 400 calories for the 2 oz. That's more than my wine!

shimma: here is the vet consult for you.....kitties are picky about their litterbox and they often urinate on things you will notice because they are trying to tell you something (escpecially male cats) he could have a bladder infection. They are often picky about the litterbox because they associate it with pain with urination. Have your sis take him to the vet and get a check up and Urinalysis. If it is clear then he has a behavior issue and they have treatment for that as well.

Well ladies I am at work so I will be brief, hope everyone is having a great day!!!

note (soapbox) if you want your gas prices to go down, be sure to vote Pres. Bush out of office during the election!!! :smug:

Shimma
05-06-2004, 12:25 PM
Thanks for the advice, but we had this problem with him initially and every vet we spoke with told us to have him put down because it was behavioral and couldn't be changed. We took him to a bunch of different vets and that was what they ALL said. Now, I am sooo against killing a kitten because he's got kitty pee issues. So, we tried a bunch of different things and stumbled upon the fact that he wanted 2 litterboxes RIGHT NEXT TO EACH OTHER. He didn't like them being in different rooms. So now he pees in one and poos in the other. The problem is that my cat is NOT picky about his litter and he poos in the pee box. (Are you following?) Add that to the fact that my sister is lazy and my back has been out and the litter box got dirty and Joey relieved himself on my bed. Honestly, I could KILL my sister for being such a lazy butt. I started cleaning last night until my back hurt... she got up out of the living room and went to her bedroom. UGH!

Julie - Ok, I was good, BUT my friend Tim has abandoned me for an entire week to to go Portugal with his girlfriend (the nerve!) The man is seriously obsessed with boobs so my friend D and I came up with a story for him last night. Here goes:

So last night was Cinco de Mayo - plenty of cause for a party, right? D and I went out downtown to drink and dance and just have a good time. Well, we ended up drinking a bit too much and got a little carried away. We decided to torture some guy by kissing each other. Then things got totally crazy. There was money going into out pockets, shirts came off.....you get the picture. I'm pretty sure that no boob was shown, though.

Ok, so none of it happened at all - or even close, but Tim's not going to know that for a while. I love being evil! :s:

StarPrincess: I just went onto the Atkins web site to see what they had to say about calories. It says if you are losing weight then calories don't matter but if you are having a difficult time then they do and that I should have between 1560 - 1872 per day....no more.

I am going to have to work on this. Damn! It's always something.

Good Morning Ladies!! :) Okay, Sorrry I'm not grumpy either, but trust me , I have my days!

Shimma: Kill the cat now! I'm joking of course. We have 2 cats, a 7 lbs female, Izzy and a 18 Lb male, Damien or my Beast Boy and yes his name fits him. Anyways, we had the same problem when my sister and niece and their Rottie and 3 cats were living with us. One of hers was peeing in the beds also. It just sucked! Was so hard to get that smell out of my new matress. Never did figure out why she did it other than the fact she's just a B****. Sis couldn't leave a basket of clean laundry out or it was fair game also, dirty laundry was safe, go figure.

Star: You should come out with us! Wednesday is Free Taco night at the local bar (mines always in a bowl, no tortilla), so that's "Date Night" for us even though we've lived together 5 yrs. Monday's are free Chili Dog Night (no bun, boy it's nice they accomidate me!). We are there at 5 PM for Happy Hour, so by about 8 or 9 we're usually feeling pretty good and causing all kinds of trouble! Last night, was one of the hiker girls last night before moving so it got pretty wild. Bare breasts everywhere with the bartender putting Bud Lite sticker on their nipples since they got in trouble last year for "Public Indecency" 'cause some girl took her top off. The police have no sense of humor around here! Then more friends showed up so we ended up staying until 11. Needless to say, didn't want to get up this morning, but work calls. Clearly I'm not to busy today either. :o Fortunately, it's s small town so no one really cares and no one really does anything harmful. From some of your posts, you would fit in well with our crowd :goodvibes

Julie: I'm so gald I'm only 8 miles from work! gas is $2.23 gal here for 87 and my Landrover only gets 12 miles to the gallon and sometimes it seems like it's more 12 gallons to the mile. I hate it!

We don't watch much TV on Thursdays so it'll be a quick dinner, Homemakover Edition and then to the Jacuzzi of as we prefer to call it "The Bubble Machine"

my further advice shimma, get a feliway diffuser for your room, you can buy it at the local vet and it puts good pheremone smell in your room so he will not urinate in your room, tell your sis to clean your bed and her litterbox!!! You can't get mad at him for something that is your sisters fault.

Sorry to make you mad Shimma I was just trying to help!

Shimma: Death for bladder problems! Such a drastic solution. Can you imagine if we did that to anything that had bladder problems? Little children? Yikes!

Star: Ooh...the evilness... I'm wondering if I should almost be feeling sorry for your poor friend, Tim! Am I getting the impression that you and your friend D enjoy torturing him?! ;)

Morti: ouch with the landrover! These gas prices are killers. They're actually bringing those 'smart' cars to Canada...I don't know if you've seen them, but they are tiny two seaters, and they are going to try and market them as a city commuter kind of car, I believe. Anyway, they are extremely cute, and have been used in Europe for a number of years now, and they use about 3.5 litres diesel per 100 km (I think ~ 1.5gal/100mile). Do they have them down there at all, do you know? (http://www.canadiandriver.com/news/040212-2.htm)

Yeah, that seems to be a concern that most people have, and also something that I'd be thinking about too, although I read an article yesterday that reported that it's passed all the safety tests, and often to a better degree than some standard cars. And in the beginning in Europe they had some problems with them tipping on fast corners, but they've lowered the cars and changed tires to combat that problem. Plus there's supposed to be a lot of automatic controls that help with driving it.

Yes, I'm a Licensed Funeral Director and Manager for 2 Funeral Homes. The only thing I don't do is the actual embalming. Changed careers 9 yrs ago. Clearly, we are slow today if I'm on the computer this much. It's a good thing!

The nickname comes from when Danny and I first started dating, he would introduce me to everyone as Morticia. We had friends that didn't know my name for quite some time until he actually called me by name in front of them. I figured, everyone knew what I did for a living, so it was a givin that it was a nickname. My Sisiter hosts a chatroom and she is actually the one who shortened it to Morti which is what I've been know as for the last few years.

My background was all in retail management. I got so tired of having people steal from you, then have the nerve to ask for a refund! I was running a clothing store and just got really burnt out on it. I've managed pet stores, clothing stores, costume jewlery stores, was an assistant manager for Kmart. I up and quit my job and took a much need rest for 6 months.

Ran into the lady that babysat my girls whenn they were little and she was working here. Thought is sounded kind of interesting. Started out doing removals, which is transporting from the place of death and working services. They asked me to come on full time and within a year I took my boards for pre-need (advance funeral planning) Insurance Licensing. A year later I took my state boards for Funeral Directors. The funeral homes are family owned, not corporate, but I'm not part of the family. I just wish I had all their money!

Ok everyone, I just got back from lunch at a mongolian place and the slip of paper in my fortune cookie says 'A thrilling time is in your immediate future.' So I went and bought a lottery ticket using the numbers on the back. The jackpot's up to $200 million. I think that would be a thrilling time, don't you?

Morti that is really interesting. Glad you found something you like and seem to find it fulfilling.

Me on the other hand was going to go to art school when I graduated HS. I got accepted at a really good art school in Boston but I guess I chickened out and didn't go. I have regretted it ever since. I got into computers kind of the long way around....worked for a doctor for 12 years and got involved with the system in the office. When I left there there was this medical software company that was looking for support people and they thought with my medical background I would be a good fit. I advanced up to doing installations about 5 years ago. At one point I was re-doing the support manuals which required some graphics work so I got to do a little artsy stuff. I wish I had the energy to go back to school and finish what I never started.

How fun would that be? I could even hire us all a special team of chefs to keep us on plan. ;)

Oh! Let's plan what we would do with Stars money if she wins

I for one would like to take the short cut route and have some liposuction.

Have fun Jane!

Star: I got your money spent... talk to me baby.

Well, my day got MUCH better in a hurry. I'm taking on a new Advanced Biology class next year... currently I have one that runs one semester... we changed it to a full year. Which... had me freaking out because I have a $700 budget for all year. YOu cannot do dissections and a decent advanced Biology class PLUS a decent Intro to bio class on 700 bucks. YOu just can't. Dissections run me about 600 a year alone. So......... I went to my boss tonight and told him I needed a bigger budget. BAM he said.. "how's $1500"? I about fell off the chair. Then I said I needed to get some new equipment and he said "draw me up a list and I'll get it ordered" and THEN I wanted this scope cam I've had on loan alllllll year (the guy from the Scope Shoppe has been a dear about the whole thing) and he said "give me an invoice and I"ll send a check tomorrow". I walked out of there in a daze. Seriously. WOW. I guess the new biology teacher they hired this year being such a serious HAG has worked greatly in my favor. My boss liked me before... now he LOVES me... he's been constantly telling me how easy going I am. :D Yay me!

Soooo, I stayed late at work and drew everything up and even sucked up a bit by getting some paperwork done that we were supposed to have done by the end of the year. He also warned me that they are doing depositions tomorrow (remember the HORRIBLE TERRIBLE lawyer???) but that they will be off site. He just asked that I keep an eye out for Doug (the chem teacher) and make sure he's ok after it all. I just hope the :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: lawyer behaves himself this time!

MORTI!!! I don't know if you have cable TV but on A&E they have a new show called Family Business and it follows around a family that runs a funeral home, have you seen it?? I was wondering if that is really what it is like??

Family Plots......Heard of it but I haven't seen it. From what my employees tell me, it's pretty right on, but they said there have been a few times they were disrespectful to the deceased. One of them recorded them, but the VCR bit the dust this morning just I was trying to out in my new video "The Firm Butts, Thighs, & Hips". Is this a sign? I'm not suppose to worry about those areas? Is it possible? Hmmmm..... I don't think so.

I don't think I'd want cameras in here even though I do give seminars to college level for the Death & Dying classes at the College and for Hospice Training. Some things are just to private. Morticians for the most part have very a morbid sense of humor, mainly as a coping mechanisim, but it's not for the general public. I think it's natural because of what we do on a daily basis.

I personally think the deceased are great, they do anything you ask as long as you help them, they don't talk back and they keep all your secrets! ;)
