Hi, my name's Kristi I'm at stay at home mom with 4 beautiful children and I am a walker. I'm hoping to meet other walkers to give and receive support from. Motivation can be hard to keep up on our own. I'm not into challenging anyone other than myself, so if your a 1 mile a dayer or a long distance strider let's keep track together and encourage each other along the way!

Personal goal for MaY 50 miles

May Miles : 3

05-01-2004, 12:48 PM
Hi, I'm new to the month walkers. My name is Teisha, I'm 18 and a high school student. I've just really gotten into walking a lot and to be honest, I love it. I give myself a new goal everyday that I walk. Last night I did 4.0 miles and 514 calories. My goal had been just 500 calories but when I saw that I was close to 4.0 miles, I just went ahead and did it. I was estatic that I had gone that far but when I was done, my feet were on fire!

I don't really have a personal goal right now. I'm just gonna try and walk as much as I can.

May Miles: 4

Hello KRISTI -
I believe we have met on the Faith Based Forum ;)
Nice to see that you have begun a Walker's Thread...
I like how you wrote it too (MaY WaLkErS ) - clever :)

I am 47 and am really working hard trying to lose this 42#'s
I have left to lose ~ hopefully reaching my goal weight
of 155 by Fall of this year..

I would love to join you on this Thread
when I am able to... if you will have me :^:

Here is my schedule on an average week...

Monday: Curves & *T-Mill (* I walk for 1 hour everytime I walk the T-Mill... not always sure of the distance till I am finished)
Tuesday: Sculpture Bands (**Michael Thurmond**) & *T-Mill
Wednesday: Curves & *T-Mill
Thursday: Sculpture Bands & *T-Mill
Friday: Curves & *T-Mill
Saturday: I walk in the park with my hubby - aprox 3 to 3.25miles
Sunday: Much needed REST ;)

**Michael Thurmond** has a great Food Program as well, but you have to get his package to know how he does it ~ it is given to you with your "body type" in mind... I love his program. I mainly ordered his package so I could learn more about the exercises he teaches... you get great results.

You have put in 46.75 miles in April so far ~
:cp: Awesome Job! :cp:
I have put in 40.97 miles for APRIL ~
Usually I get up early and walk (5:15 to 6:15am).

My pace is not fast either... I don't know how others WALK at a faster pace! It hurts my legs & left hip and I find that the tendons become very tight... so I just do what Michael Thurmond says to do --- Walk slower and Longer to burn off "body fat". My machine has a heart-rate monitor and I keep it in the Fat Burning Range that is posted on my machine & for me it is 110 - 115bpm on the monitor.

When I began walking again on April 6th, 2004... I walked about 1.8 miles in that hour and now I will get in about 2.25 in an hour as my heart becomes stronger I find I have to increase the speed to maintain the heart-rate. So that's how I do it...

It will be FUN to note my progress here
along with you and the others :)
*Thanks for the thread*

*God Bless*
:sunny: SunnyD

Good Afternoon KRISTI ~
I thought I would post again what I wrote at the end of APRIL (with a few changes ;) )... mostly for introduction reasons... hope that is okay with you.

Thank-you so much for the P.M. and the warm welcome ;)

Hello PEACH/Teisha ~
So good to meet you :)
How long did it take you to walk your 4miles?

My husband and I went to the park this morning and walked 3.5miles in about an hour and 10min. I did stop to take a couple wildlife pictures...
Have a great Day!

Welcome Peach, It's great to have you here. It's totally ok that your goal for the month doesn't have a number attached to it. Just walking as much as you can is a terrific attitude. I'm very proud of you for choosing a healthy approach to weight loss. Are you walking on a treadmill or out side? I've enjoyed walking on the bike trail for years, but have recently purchased a TM and find that I push myself much harder on the TM. Now walking outside is considered a treat not exercise! Imagine, me thinking of walking as a treat! You have a great start to the month. Keep up the good work.

Hi Sunny, I see you too have a great start for the month as well. Walking in the park with your husband must be wonderful. I think you should stop and take all the pictures you like. We run a family business so my DH works 6 days a week and Sun. is so filled with church and activities with the children that walking together is rarely anything we get around to. His job is quite physically demanding and he is naturally very thin. He has been using the TM some the past couple of months. He said he wanted to show interest in my interests. I thought it was sweet. If not a little irritating. By his 3rd night using it running a 10 min. mile was a piece of cake for him!! Well girls I have laundry that is not going to dry sitting at the bottom of the washing machine.
Happy Walking!

Hi I'm Michelle SAHM to 2 girls Taylor who is 2yo and Teagan is almost 7 months. I just recently started WATP and would love to join your group :) So far for this month I have walked 3 miles :)

Take Care

05-02-2004, 05:53 PM
Put me down for 2 more miles today that makes 5

05-03-2004, 10:43 AM
WTG Michelle, I totally took yesterday off from exercise and even overate some, but I'm back in action today. Which WATP tapes do you use? I have the 1, 2 , & 3 mile tapes. I used them all last year and just loved them. This yr. I'm into using the TM, but I know some day I'll get bored with it and go back to Leslie. I just really like seeing how many cals I've burned printed out in front of me! It's great to have you here!

Hi all :)

I've been walking as my chosen exercise since mid April and although sometimes I struggle to motivate myself, I do like how I feel after a walk.

I'm alternating walking 2 miles then 4 miles a day.

I don't use WATP tapes, this is the first time I have heard of them. I walk outside unless the weather is raining hard and then I will run on the exercise machine instead. My iPOD is my motivator, some good music keeps me going :D .

May Miles: 2

05-03-2004, 05:09 PM
Hi LynneA, Motivation is why I love this site. Last month I had started the ApRiL WaLkErS and didn't get a lot of responses, but at least 10 people a day read the post and knowing that even one of them may have been a repeat viewer keeping tabs on me was enough to push me past my March miles. It's great to have you and I hope we can stay motivated together. Congrats on your loss!
I actually walked the trail today rather than use the TM. My poor dog was tuckered by the time we got home. I strictly walked and was able to do the 3 miles in about 42 min. I don't feel like I get as good a work out walking thetrail as I do on the TM, but it was a nice change of pace. I've got Cub Scouts tonight and I'm thinking either tennis or frisbie golf. All my boys have earned their advancements and a few arrow points I feel like it's time to play and just have fun before summer hits.

Have a great eve!

05-03-2004, 05:17 PM
Kristi thanks for the welcome. I love the WATP tapes I got the 1 and 2 mile express dvd and I bought some pilates resistance bands cuz my dvd didnt come with a stretchie. The 2 mile still gives me an ok work out so I'm gonna keep doing that one til I get bored of it and then go buy the 3 mile. By the way...have you tried fitday.com its great for tracking calories burned from exercise or house work etc. Anyway I have yet to go do my walk today I'm gonna let my lunch settle then head downstairs and walk.
Have a great day!

http://www.ecardgallery.com/egreetings/easter/easter4/1.jpg Good Morning Everyone...
Whew :o Don't know if I will ever catch up with you all ~ you are doing so well with your walking! I just put in 2.5 miles... yesterday I wasn't up to par, so I didn't walk, but was on this morning and doing much better.
Drinking allot of water.

Morning KRISTI ~
I think that you will see allot of posting as the weather gets better - I know that the sunshine :sunny: sure makes a difference with me. Yesterday was so crummy most of the day & that's how I felt too; then at around 3 the sun popped out... I called my hubby and asked if we could go out for dinner - he was all for it. We had a wonderful evening out and I felt so much better this morning. I usually cook every night - even weekends. Although, this Saturday is our monthly evening out with our good friends - always a great time!

I personally like that you don't have challenges... I feel very motivated just by all your posts here. There's enough stress in our world and sometimes those challenges make me feel more stressed. Thanks again for beginning it again ;)

I have never done the WATP tapes, but have seen them at Wal-Mart. I myself love my new T-Mill (just got it April 5th). I don't think it matters how you get in your walking as long as you do, don't you think :) Saturday's Joe & I go for about 3+miles on a trail in the park - makes a nice change.

Beautiful family!!!! Just love your picture ;)

I too have difficult days with motivation - like yesterday... I really felt out of sorts yesterday. But am my good old self today.

Hope that you are doing okay.
We haven't heard from you yet this week ;)

I have so much to get done today, so off I go.
Catch you all later...
Have a Wonderful Day today Gals :)

Good morning Ladies :)

Well, I had a great motivator for going for my walk today. Tuesdays are my weekly weigh in day and the scales said 198!

I walked 3.9 miles today with very good spirits.

Thank you for the warm welcome also :).

May Miles: 5.9

05-04-2004, 02:59 PM
Put me down for another 2 miles today! making 7 miles so far I hope to do a one mile walk a little later.
Take care

Hi Ladies, Thank you all so much for being here. Today was such a busy day. My daughter represented her school at the Heritage Fair through the gifted and talented program. I've eaten all the wrong things today including a strawberry cheesquake blizzard from DQ. At least I ordered the small, but I was totally going to blow off exercise, but since reading all your success for the day I'm going to my TM for a 2.25 mile walk right now. Thanks again, because I have another BIG meal out on Thurs. eve so I really couldn't afford to skip exercise today as well. You chicks are awesome!!!

I just finished 2 miles too :)

198! WooHoo!!!!!! I remember when I made it into
"One"-derland how excited I was... so happy for you!
Keep up the great work!

You seem to be the leader in miles for the month
so far :^: I am trying to catch up with you ;)

Sounds like you had a wonderfully busy day yesterday
with your DD :dizzy: She sounds like a DD to be very proud of...
I too had a dish of ice cream (1-scoop at the ice cream place -
this way it's not in my home & I am not tempted
to get more)... Good for you ~ getting in your exercise even when
you didn't feel like it! It really helps to post, doesn't it :D

Okay... where are you PEACH?

Later everyone!
Keep up the great work and
get in your walk today ;)

WTG LynneA another two miles behind you!!!

It was so nice last eve that my children went outside to play while I was on the TM and didn't come back in for what seemed like forever so I actually stayed on for 3.25 rather than only 2.25. My plan for today was to do 2 miles twice, but I ended up going for 4 miles all at once. I just knew I wouldn't get back on later and I have been so overeating for a week straight. I don't have TOM to blame or anything. I think I'm just tired of being so careful right now. My DH has a meeting this Thurs. night and the company buys an off the menu meal for everyone who comes and listens to the training. I know I'm going for prime rib or maybe bbq ribs something of that nature so I need to be real good today and probably do 4 miles again tomorrow. Then our Mother Daughter Banquet at church is Sat. night so I should try to do at least 3 and 4 miles every day this week. Then I should be able to go back to a couple miles a day for awhile. Whatever! Right? You gals are all doing great, thanks for keeping me in the game!

No no kristi is the leader I've got 9 miles for the month so far kristi has 13.25 who knows maybe i'll get another walk in ;) I've got to catch up :)

05-05-2004, 09:44 PM
Oooops... I guess I didn't do a very good job of adding :^:

I just finished another 2.25 miles ;)
Catch you all tomorrow...

05-06-2004, 10:57 AM
Another 3.9 miles :)

The support from you girls is great, really motivating. Thank you!

05-06-2004, 11:09 AM
Hi SunnyD and Michelle, You two are both doing really good. I want you all to be motivated by my progress, but please don't feel compelled to "keep up" I'm going through something right now that I don't really understand and it's making me hit the TM like there is no tomorrow. SOme feelings of low self esteem would be the best way to describe. Once I get my head on straight again you will have plenty of time to catch me. Guarenteed! DH andI have plans for a nice dinner out tonight and of course DD #2 gets up complaining of a sore throat and headache. I took her temp. and luckily it was 98.3 so I gave her some children's Motrin and sent her off to school anyway. I feel aweful right about now. In my defense I did tell her if she didn't begin to feel better all she had to do was call and I would come and get her. Now I just have to keep my fingers crossed. It's just my DH and I haven't been out alone in almost 2 mths and I am really looking forward to it. Anyway another 4 miles today, but I took an hr to do it and absolutely no incline. Just slogging through to be able to say I did it. I hope you all have a great day!

I ended up doing another 2 miles last night so that brought me to 11 for the month I'm gonna do another 2 miles today :)

Kristi - great job on the 4 miles :)

05-06-2004, 06:49 PM
finished my 2 miles for today! :) 13 for the month

05-07-2004, 09:55 AM
Another 2 miles done today but I didn't feel great doing it today like I usually do. I'm giving myself the weekend off, I think my body is telling me to slow down a bit and I'm going to listen to it.

05-07-2004, 12:56 PM
Hi Michelle and LynneA, You two are both doing just awesome! WTG Michelle adding that extra two miles the other night. I have such a hard time doing that. Once I've done any amt. for the day it's like forget it I'm not getting back on again no matter what I said!!! LynneA, I totally agree that if your body is begging for a rest you need to listen. If I overdo I end up taking a week off. Then it seems like it takes me forever to build back up to where I was. I ended up doing really great on my 4 miles yesterday. Actually shaving off 2 min., but still keeping the number of cals. burned up over the previous day. I don't know if it was the huge steak I indulged in the night before or the grapes I ate just before I got on the TM, but energy came from somewhere. I finally got brave and weighed myself today even though I ate out last night. I'm down 2 pounds in two weeks. Yippee!!! I was so afraid because I haven't been sticking to my cals. at all. Thus the 3 and 4 mile walks. So I'm happy having a great day. Not only did I have a really nice night out with my DH but I've also lost. I'm going back down to 2.25 miles today. Let myself relax some! My calves will say thank you.

Have a great day all!

I took today off, I was soo busy with my children and cleaning and then grocery shopping and then I went and helped my sister at the daycare she works at for 2.5 hours. So even though I'm not counting it I'm sure I got a couple miles in ;) I'll be back on track tomorrow morning! Have a wonderful weekend ladies.

05-08-2004, 11:26 AM
Hi SunnyD, Thanks for the beautiful tulips! They are my favorite flower! I almost envy your visits to curves. Are they as much fun as the tv commercials look? You're doing awesome!
Good morning Michelle, It sounds like you had a really busy day. You have children of your own, but yet are willing to help out at a day care center. WTG, I bet your sister really appreciated it. I want to be a little nosey if that's ok? Your signature says your mommy to Taylor and Teagan, but your picture has 3 beautiful children in it. Who's the 3rd? Also, I read that you've lost like another 3 pounds, but you haven't updated your CW in your signature. How can you not want to change that immediately? It's like the first thing I want to do after I've lost!!!
I'm attending the M - D banquet at church tonight with both my DDs, my DM, my MIL, my SIL, her MIL and step DD. It should be a nice night. We've been attending for 8 yrs. now. That almost seems impossible. How did I go from 29 and no children to almost 40 and 4 children and my baby is allready 4 1/2 yrs. old? Right now it does seem as though they will be gone before I know it! To all you Mommies, Happy Mother's Day!
2 miles today

Kristi - lol the child that isn't sitting on my lap (directly to my left) is my niece zoe she spends time with us quite a bit. I know I havn't changed my current weight until my weigh in day lol which is tomorrow!! I should hopefully be down to 233 that would be 9 lbs down since may 1st :) Anyway, I'm sick today I think I have a sinus/ear infection I'm going to try and get a work out in but I can't say for sure.

Sunny and Lynne I hope you both are doing well!

05-08-2004, 10:23 PM
Ok guys I got another 2 miles in! I really didnt feel like it but I did it anyway and I actually feel better. I'm glad I did it.
Hope you all are having a wonderful weekend.

05-09-2004, 11:08 AM
Ok guys I got my official weigh in results!!!! I am down 5 lbs from my last weigh in and down 10 lbs from May 1st!!!! I feel so great!!!
Gonna do 2 miles a little later today.

05-09-2004, 09:27 PM
Ok I must be the only one here on the weekends lol. Where are you guys?? Ok I did another 3 miles today! 18 miles for may so far.

Happy Mothers Day

05-10-2004, 09:38 AM
Congrats on the loss Michelle!

I gave myself the weekend off. Late Friday I was feeling pretty drained and my shins were hurting during my walk (shin splints?), so I decided to calm it down over the weekend.

I got up this morning feeling not so great, I think I have a cold coming on but I don't think it's going to be of those colds that you immediately feel sick with you know? So I only managed 2 miles today instead of my planned 3.9, disappointing but I have to listen to my body, don't want to make myself feel worse. Still, 2 miles is better than none.

05-10-2004, 12:13 PM
Wow, Michelle! You are one "Motivated Mommy" you even did 3 miles on Mother's Day for goodness sake. That's just awesome! Congrats on your weight loss as well. It feels so good when that scale nudges down. Doesn't it. Pat yourself on the back, because you really deserve it! I was sooo bad all weekend. I ate everything that was on the menu at the M-D banquet Sat. night and then yesterday my oldest dd and I went to see "VanHelsing" and I ate all the popcorn except maybe a cup full and then even had 2 wine coolers when I got home. I'm looking at mostly salads for all week. I'm going to Cub Scout camp overnight on Fri. and spending all day Sat. there so I know everything will be little boy friendly and yummy and fattening. I just have to keep being good all weekend, because my weekends seem to be full of kid stuff for awhile andI refuse to measure and stuff when I'm suppose to be having fun with them. Lynne, You have such a terrific attitude. Of course 2 miles is better than nothing!!! So many people would quit and do nothing when suffering with pain and an oncoming cold as well. You should take a bow as well!!
3 miles today

I just had to quikly post. I just finished doing my miles for today and I completed the first 2 miles in 25 min 20 sec. This is my personal best and I'm feeling darn proud right now!!!!

Way to go kristi for beating your record :cp: :jig:

I did another 2 miles today, so 4 total for today :) 22 for the month

05-11-2004, 08:48 AM
Hey girls,

Not such a good day today, my weekly weigh in showed I have gained 3.5lbs since last Tuesday. I didn't do very well with the food this weekend so maybe I should blame that but I am worried I am walking too much. I stepped up the walking last week and walked every day, Mon Wed and Fri I did 3.9 miles, Tue and Thur I did 2 miles plus 30 mins of light weights on the Bowflex we have. I thought that by stepping up the walking/exercising I would have better results.

Walking and doing light weights on the bowflex, aside from gardening, is the only exercise I can do. I can't drive and we live in the middle of nowhere, an hour from the nearest gym.

Should I drop my exercise down again to every other day? I am feeling really confused and pretty down right now. It seems to be so hard finding something that works for me.

Edit: it might help if I let you know what diet I am using. I am following a low fat/low cholesterol diet and trying to eat between 1200 and 1600 calories a day, trying to keep my fat intake to 30 g or less. My diet is carb heavy, low fat. My fitday link is at the bottom.

05-11-2004, 09:18 AM

WoW :o I have some catching up to do, huh...
 Good Morning Ladies!

I did another 2.5 miles and went to Curves yesterday, but KRISTI ~
Yes! I just love my Curves!!! The ladies that work there are so helpful and kind ~ not to mention the friends I have made there. I personally love it!

As for walking ~ I will never catch up to you at this rate (my competitive side slipping out ;) )... Good job! :cp: But at that speed you aren't walking anymore you are jogging and with this bad knee of mine --- a fast walk is all I am able to do --- I want to jog so bad, but everytime I try I hurt so bad in my left knee that evening... It was dislocated in my accident in 1976 from hitting the steering column and has never been the same. Even when I wrap it I am still not able to jog :( Maybe after I lose a bit more weight I will.

Glad you enjoyed the tulips - I thought they were so pretty too :) Sounds like you had a nice Mother's Day... me too. My hubby & I never had children (not by choice), but we have helped allot with friends and family and I received cards and gifts from them --- so special! It has been said, "that when a door closes, a window opens" We went to church and then spent the morning with our friends and their family - nice first half of the day... then came home to chill out together. My parents are in Maine and Joe's parents have passed.

WoW girl... you are doing WONDERFULLY!!!!
Congrats on your weight-loss - down 10#'s from May 1st - awesome job!

How are you feeling(?)- you mentioned you were sick... and you still walked, I am impressed. Weekends are very difficult for me to get onto the computer we are so very busy - my weekdays are quieter. When Joe is home there is no idle time ;) So I will do my best on those days, but don't worry about me if I don't show up on Saturday or Sunday, okay ;) I didn't mean to let yesterday go by without posting, but it just got so HOT here I couldn't bring myself to turn on the computer - I was out in the yard most of the day. We see very little sun here and I took advantage :D Today looks like rain...

You are so wise when it comes to listening to your body... I seem to be like you and when I read you felt that way and needed a break, you confirmed what I felt about me! I took a break this weekend too and by Monday I was so ready for exercise. I will try to get in another 2 miles this morning, but the knee is bothering me from the humidity - so I'll just do my best. If it weren't for this darn knee I would feel pretty darn good! AND be able to do more! Oh well... have to play the cards I am delt :)

Have a super day ladies!
I think you gals are great motivators!!!!

You posted while I was writing... I am so very sorry you are having such a crummy start to your day today. But if it helps, muscle does weigh more then fat and you must try to stay away from your scale if it will defeat you. I too am a scale addict and have to literally talk to myself into staying away from the scale! It makes me feel defeated and then I want to just give up. So now I just keep on truckin' --- no matter what. I have found that I have muscle swelling that can add about 3-5#'s in just water weight and it does go away after a day or so, especially if you watch the salt you take in and drink your water. For instance... yesterday I did Curves (40min) and then walked on the T-Mill (60min) and dared not to go near that scale - I know I will weigh in heavier! But I did good by my body by exercising and I feel good and that is what matters.

*Just a note that may help you*
At Curves they say you should give yourself one days rest in between resistance workouts... so maybe you shouldn't use your Bowflex (a resistance workout) more then 2 - 3x's a week. Oh, and make sure you are getting plenty of sleep - so very important for muscle recovery. I am usually in bed and asleep by 10pm because I am up by 5am every morning.

Oh please - don't let it get to you...
I wish I were close enough to give you a huge hug!
This will have to do ---> {{{Hugs}}}
Sending Good vibes :goodvibes your way for a much better day!

I just checked out your breakfast on FITDAY and didn't think it was bad at all... the carbs you had this morning are considered complex carbs (the good ones) and great for muscle toning.

I'll try to take a look-see as you go through your day, okay.
And I am sure that Kristi & Michelle will have some good advice also.

Wishing you only the best...
Pat-yourself-on-the-back ~ you are doing so well!

the only way to do that is to... ...

PS>>> I posted that last part to remind myself too ;)

Lynne- I am with sunny I too took a look at your fitday and you had oatmeal with skim milk for breakfast, and oatmeal is a good carb so It's not bad if you are eating the right carbs, thats what south beach preaches. Ok I took a look back at your fitday, and the only foods that really jumped out at me were Pizza and oreos, the cookies more so than the pizza lol 5g of fat a piece plus the 26 "bad" carbs, and we all know how bad pizza is, don't get me wrong girly I would looooovvveee to have some pizza too lol. But other than that your diet looked good, have you checked out South Beach Diet? I love it and it helps lower cholesterol, you can check out my fitday and see what I eat in a day and I usually come in at just over 900 calories a day, and I feel full!! Well I hope this helps sorry if my thoughts were jumbled hard to think this early in the morning lol.

Sunny- so glad to see you back. I'm glad you had a wonderful weekend with hubby.

ok girls I need to get some housework done, I'll ttyl!!

05-11-2004, 02:53 PM
Thanks for the kind words Sunny and Michelle, I feel better than I did this morning. Thank you also for taking the time to look at my Fitday. I threw away the oreo cookies too Michelle :).

I'm planning to go out for a walk this evening but there is thunder rumbling overhead and its looking like a storm is coming so I may just end up running on the exercise machine. I'll still use Bowflex but as you suggested Sunny will probably just keep doing it twice a week. I'm also going to continue walking but may cut that down for now to every other day.

You both made me realise that all is not lost and the desperation and disappointment I felt this morning has dissipated some. I'd very much like to give you both a hug so here you go: *HUG*

05-11-2004, 03:44 PM
awwww Lynne thanks for the Hug :) You are working so hard I just know the weight will start coming off!! Keep up the good spirits!

05-11-2004, 04:54 PM
Hi All, I wrote a huge post earlier, but it got lost in cyber space. That's the 2nd time that has happened ti me in less than a week. I will try to remember what I wrote to each of you. I got so angry I turned the computer off. I did use the time for a much needed long hot bath.
Michelle, Once again your miles are looking terrific. Every day you inspire me. I had an oportunity to watch a tvshow about the SB diet. It was very eye opening for me as I had believed it was just another remake of the Atkin's plan. I just can't accept any diet plan that will not allow you to eat wonderful things like sweet potatos, carrots, oranges, whole grains, etc. I was surprised to realize I have been following pretty closely to the SB diet for like 4 yrs. now. I was hip and happenin' when I didn't even know it! lol Keep up the good work girl!
Sunny, Oh so many nice things you always say. Refering to that at my speed I'm now jogging. I know absolutely nothing about running etc... and become very down the other day while watching the Dr. Phil weight loss challenge. He had the people participate in a 1 mile walk. Jogging was not allowed. If they were caught jogging they were immediately disqualified. To get to the upsetting part. These people were all walking a mile in 10 and 11 minutes!!!!!!! I'm sitting there with me chin on the floor asking, who can walk 5 and 6 mph?!? Only one actually took slightly over 15 min.!!! I think a 15 min mile aka 4 mph is hoofing it right along!!!! So, your comment made me feel much better and more normal. I want to express my sympathy over the injury you received in an accident. It must have been one awful time to still be giving you pain 18 yrs. later!!! I give you so much credit for doing what you are doing. So many people would use that type of injury to just stay out of the game all together. But not you. You listen to your body and do what's best for it. I hope you're very proud of yourself.
Lynne, I know that d_ _ _ scale can get the best of us at times, but just try to ignore it. I'm such an addict that I don't even own one anymore. I literally would way myself upwards of 20 times a day. Now I have to go next door to my MIL's to weigh myself. Sometimes I'm jonesing to step on the scale, but I try to keep it to once a wk. if not once every 2 wks. As to your weight gain. The other girls gave you terrific advice. Great job getting rid of those oreos. They are just aweful for a body! I know this is going to sound like odd advice, but if you are eating only 1200 cals a day you may actually be eating too little. I see your CW is 201. From reading I've done you should be eating 1700-1800 cals a day and exercising 5 times a wk. to drop 1-2 pound/wk. When we eat too little our furnaces stall to conserve the energy it thinks may be in short supply. Research it for yourself, give it thought, throw the advice it out!! Whatever you decide to do remember that stupid number on the scale is not who you are. Who you are is someone who's trying to do better for herself and that's a wonderful type of person.
I'm so happy, not only did I have the best mother's day I've ever had, but my DH has decided to go to Cub Scout camp with our son this weekend instead of me. I only work 14 hr/wk in the family business so of course I'm the one who has gotten trained by the BSA and leads our sons Wolfe pack. I think it's terrific that DH has arranged his work load so he can go. I think it will mean a great deal to our son.
Planning 2.25 miles for today. I don't know how yet. If it doesn't rain I may hit the bike trail for a nice walk.
Have great day all you lovely ladies!

05-11-2004, 05:58 PM
Kristi - You crack me up!! You are sooo hip and happening!! I was on the atkins for 3 weeks and lost 12 lbs, but then I went in to my doctors to talk about my weight gain because I am hypothyroid and put a ton of weight on all of a sudden, so anyway I got put on a prescription weight loss med and follow the South Beach Diet and do my walking away the pounds tapes, I would walk outside but I would have to take my 2 girls which would be lots of stops and starts and not as good a work out as I want, and so far so good. I love south beach because I always feel full I mean, last night for instance, I had 7 oz of meatloaf, 15 small asparagus spears and 2 cups of salad greens, 1/4 cup tomatoes, and 1/4 cup ff cheese for dinner and still came in under 1000 calories, I find it very very difficult to make it above 1000 anymore. I always slide in somewhere between 900-1000 calories a day. Okay enough rambling lol.

Count me for 2 miles today!! Yayyy!!

05-11-2004, 06:05 PM
 Good afternoon gals,
I just finished 2.75miles on my T-Mill and while I was on the T-Mill I was watching the show "I lost it" and "lost it" as one of the ladies sharing her success story did it with Curves. After 1 year of going to Curves (5x a week & eating 5 balanced meals a day) she lost 87lbs and went from an 18 to a 10! I want to do that! I found myself walking/jogging and crying  all at the same time (not very easy to do either :o ). I want to get this weight off me so badly I would do anything it takes to do so... I am a very impatient person at times and have to remind myself that it took time going on - it will take time and consistent effort daily to take it off and keep it off. I lost 85lbs in 1986 (going from 220 to 135) and kept it off till 1992... then I went through some traumatic times and went into my old habits of comforting myself with food and viola... I am trying again and find it much harder to lose again being older now. I just want to see 155 again :^:

I never understood how anyone could walk that fast either :dizzy: maybe one day I will, but right now there's no way I can get my legs to move that fast and not pull something, if you know what I mean :D

Thank you for your kind words also, it is so important for me to speak positive to others and myself... I have such a tendency to think badly of myself and love others more. I am trying to love and care for myself as much as I do others (t'aint easy either). As for my injuries... I have never liked to settle if I can make something better, you know. I don't want the knee surgery I have been told I will have one day, so I am working out the muscles hoping to save it. All I can do is try --- thanx again for bing so encouraging to me :goodvibes

Thank-you so much for the {{{Hug}}}
I am so glad :smug: to see that you are feeling much better then this morning!!! :cp: Keep that chin up - you are so deserving... we all are!

So glad to hear that you got rid of those Oreo's! I know how hard that is to do too... just the smell alone can send you into a binge. If you knew what was in them you would never eat them again. The centers are nothing more then sweetened lard (like Crisco) --- all hydrogenated & processed oils... plastic that goes into your arteries and stays there eventually causing heart attacks or stokes. Just keep that in mind each time you want a store bought cookie ;) I will make my own goodies with real butter before I buy another store bought cookie/goodie, with that in mind. Sorry to go off like that --- I just thought it was info that was good for everyone to know. I stopped buying processed foods 6 years ago. Now to control my portions :^: :dizzy:

I must agree with you... I think the SBD (Phase II) is much more balanced in foods then the Atkins Diet and much easier to stay with. It's basically what I am on as well. Not to the letter, but I have been doing it a long time and pretty much know what to eat and what not to.

Have a wonderful evening gals!

I did another 2 miles tonight, another 4 mile day for me :) Yayyyyyy!!!

Have a wonderful night!!

05-12-2004, 10:42 AM
Another 3.9 miles done this morning.

Michelle you are doing really well :).

05-12-2004, 12:09 PM
Michelle, I know exactly what you mean you say you can't get a very good workout with your children along. That's one of the main reasons I'm loving my TM. I get my workout done first and then it doesn't matter if we stop to pick flowers or look at the birdies, whatever it is that catches their eye. My 7 yr. old especially enjoys walking the bike trail and I feel so bad when I leave her home, because mommy has to be able to go faster than you can honey. I see yesterday was another 4 mile day. YGG!
Sunny, Wow you are making want to take the plunge at Curves as well. The closest one to me is 20 miles away, but maybe it would be worth it to make the extra effort. I hear you on the loving others more than yourself. It's funny, but it actually took having children of my own to understand how important it is to love ourselves and to think highly of ourselves. I want my children to always think that they are worthy. In the sence that they know people should treat them with kindness and respect and if they don't they are people they would be better off without. I had to change how I felt about me to teach self respect to them. That old slippery slope of low self esteem is always right there though. That's why I'm always coming back to 3FC telling how I've gained 15 pounds back again. Not this time. I'm moving forward forever from now on. Sorry if I got too deep, but it's what drives us all to overeat and not take care of ourselves to some extent. Give yourself a big hug today!
Lynne, It sounds like you're back on track. Great job!
As for me, my eating's going well and the sun is finally shining. They are predicting severe weather for our area later again today!!! So I'm going to enjoy it while it's here. I ended up doing just 2 miles on the trail last night. I did really try to push myself and worked up a good sweat. Which is why I usually avoid the trail for workouts, because I don't push myself and usually end up strolling along never breathing hard or breaking a sweat. There needs to be something said for just comfy relxibg walks too though. Planning 3 miles for today.

Good Afternoon Gals,

I just finished 2miles (50min) and went to Curves (40min) this morning. I ended up standing outside the Curves chatting with one of the ladies for another 30 minutes :) I just love it there. I always feel so much better after going - not only for the exercise, but socially! I always feel so content and ready for the day when I get home.

It went into the 80's yesterday ( I think it was 84*) and today they are calling for highs in the mid 80's again ~ we are at 80* now. I think it feels wonderful! We have waited so long for warm weather here ~ you won't find me complaining about it, that's for sure. Lately it seems that we are getting rains at night or early mornings & sunny days - which is perfect! I have waitied a long time to open up this house, so it will take an unbearable heat for me to turn on the AC and close up our home. I just love the sounds of the outdoors & the warmth...

Awesome! 3.9miles today already!
How have you been feeling getting in those miles? You should be so proud of yourself :twirly: I think you may be surprising yourself these days :D I know that if I am feeling yucky - I always feel so much better after I work out - especially if I don't feel like doing it (like yesterday afternoon --- what a struggle for me at first).

No worries (at least when it comes to me) about chatting on & sharing... I do it too. Besides that is what this place is all about - isn't it ;) A place to chat, vent & share...

I think that you are so *on track* and gaining speed, girl :jig: WoW  you are up to 30miles already!!! You will not be looking back anymore  and neither will I be. We all need to do this for ourselves, so that we may be better people around those we love :goodvibes

How do you fit it all in with the children? I can barely fit in the workouts I do... great job! I just may hop on the T-Mill again later this afternoon and try to get in another mile for the day :smug: ;)

Later gals...
I have some chores to finish up today :)

another 2 miles, I woulda done 4 today but I was busy doing the spring cleaning earlier so I was kinda pooped out lol. I got all my kids winter clothes put away and their summer clothes in their drawers the hand me downs have been packed and rotated so the next size up for the baby is available :), I also recaulked my bathtub and I Finally put the babies crib in her room and working on getting my 2 yo old to sleep in her own bed as well, not worried about the baby so much as the 2 yo lol. At any rate I got my walk in and I feel good!! 28 for May!

Sorry to carry on lol I get that way late at night lol
talk to you tomorrow

Hi All, We got another 1.75" of rain last night. Today it's colder and just plain dreary. There is a constant mist in the air which means today is good for nothing, but housework lol Which I abhor!!! It's just that it's so never ending. Like I'm telling you something you didn't allready know lol I did do my 3 miles yesterday and I was so pleased with myself. I managed the 3 in 39 min 20 sec I was actually able to run 5.3 mph for 1.25 miles for better heart and lung than I have ever experienced, but I have been eating right this week. The previous 2 wks I was eating pretty much all wrong most days and the energy level was sinking fast!!! Planning just 2 miles today, but no pushing it. I don't want to overdo and end up hating again.
Pats on the back to all of you!!
Sunny, I love your picture it's sooo cute!
Michelle, Thanks for the invite. Last summer I did spend some time on a SAHM thread, but everyone talked so much I couldn't keep up and I fealt like I was not holding up my end. Silly, maybe. Probably a narcissistic thing lol

A very GOOD Morning Gals!
I never did get in any more miles last night - just had too much to do and not nearly enough energy left :^: BUT... ... ...I just finished 4miles!!! 4! I impressed myself! I am also down another pound as of this morning. I couldn't wait to change my sig. I have lost a total of 20lbs as of today :smug: Boy, seems like allot of work for only one pound down, but my weigh & measure at Curves isn't till next Thursday (5-20) so maybe I have lost inches more than pounds... I am happy :)

Well, we finally caved last night before bed and decided to turn our AC on for the night... I am so glad we did, it made it for real nice sleeping. It was still 84* in the house at 9:30 last night and I could not sleep in that - even with the fans on.

I don't think you are narcissistic at all, Kristi! I love this thread because it is small! Sometimes I feel so overwhelmed with trying to catch up with some of the threads I am on... I love the people, but it can be trying sometimes. I won't leave the ones I am on, but I won't join any more either. I enjoy getting to know people better and when you get that busy you just can't ;)

Where are you? Hope all is going well for you today ;)

Between you and Kristi - I don't have a chance in haties in catching up  But you both are giving me a great challenge even if you didn't intend this to be a challenge thread :D Good job!!!

Well gals, I must get in a shower :o & then get back to my chores.

Another 3 miles for me today! 31 for the month!

I was quite discouraged to see this morning that my weight was up to 235 when I was 232 my last weigh in (sunday) but whoa I just had a thought, I crammed soft tacos last night to get my calories in before the day was through and they are filled with sodium!! I bet I was retaining water! Hmmm I'll see tomorrow!! Lol sorry bout my ramblings lol Well Thank you guys for keeping me so motivated, I'm ready to do another 2 miles tonight before bed. I want this weight gone!!

You ladies have a great night!!]

05-14-2004, 10:08 AM
Morning :)

Hi Sunny :) I skipped off yesterday and had a very lazy day. I ate well though, so all was not lost! I did another 2 miles this morning, walked very briskly and felt pretty good.

Michelle, does sodium intake affect how much water you retain? I think you are doing great on the weight loss and walking. I'm going to do some light weights now.

Have a good day everyone and I'll ttyl.

05-14-2004, 08:09 PM
Michelle, WTG girl. You are just rockin'. Don't worry about that couple of pounds salt can make the scale do torturous things to you. Keep moving forward, sometimes I think those fake gains are thrown in there just to see how serious we are lol
Hey Lynne, You too are doing terrific. Hope you have a great weekend
As for me I have no miles to add today. I got called in to work in the kitchen at school. I'm a last minute sub when someone is sick or something. So when I got done work I had to come home and pack my men off to Scout camp and of course I had all kinds of patches and what not to sew on. I can't have my boy going off without all his hard earned awards on. Then I went to the library and picked up Dr. Phil's weight loss and book andI think I'm going to curl up with that and worry about exercise again tomorrow. Eating's been good so far today, but my bodies screaming for something right now. Hopefully I'll take the time to make it something healthy!!
Have a great weekend everybody!

Kristi - I took today off as well I had a lot of shopping to do and cleaned my house spotless, which of course you can't tell now lol. I also weighed again this morning after flushing out my body yesterday with 144 oz of water and I was back to normal!! I was so happy that it was actually water retention.

Everyone have a great weekend!!

http://users.bigpond.com/cutecolorz/1e0o1e2/setcoffee/cutecolorsfee3.gif Good Morning KRISTI, MICHELLE & LYNNE ~
I didn't get in my T-Mill yesterday either - strange that 3 of the 4 of us weren't able to get it in. But I did go to Curves in the morning :) Lynne, good for you knowing when to rest... and then getting in 2 miles yesterday. I wanted to, but the body was just plain tired!

I'll try to get in some walking, but we have very busy weekends when the hubby is home ;) I am hoping to get in some major gardening after we get home from breakfast and grocery shopping this morning. Right now it is raining, but it is suppose to end sometime this morning (I hope!).

Hope you all have a great weekend...

Good morning :)

Did another 3.9 miles this morning, was out at 6.00 am! It rained all last night so I thought it would be nice and fresh, then I remembered I live in Tennessee and of course, it was humid as usual! It was nice and quiet though, no traffic on our road and the dogs seemed to enjoy it too.

Going to the movies today to see "Troy" then going to a mongolian grill for dinner so I am aiming to be good and eat sensibly.

Have a good weekend ladies, I will check in later :).

05-15-2004, 03:26 PM
4 miles for me today, 35 for the month. Sorry this is a short post gotta get some stuff done.
hope you are all having a great weekend

05-15-2004, 05:22 PM
Michelle and Lynne, you ladies are putting me to shame the past couple days. So far today I have no miles to log, but I did play tennis for an hr. with my daughter today. It was a total blast. When I was a kid me and a neighbor boy played tennis all the time, but I hadn't played since I was probably 13 or 14. It felt awesome to finally have a child old enough to share this interest with. Luckily the Easter Bunny had left new rackets and balls!!! I might do a couple miles later, but I'll edit if I do! Sunny, I think Curves counts whether you've walked or not!!!! You are doing just a terrific job. I hope you and the hubby have a great weekend. I just got done building a bigger fire ring with cement blocks and now I need to round up kindling and such. I bought some grilled sandwich makers that you use over a campfire and that's how we're going to cook tonight. I bought ham, turkey, cheese etc.. for the main meal and then we have apple and peach pie filling to make like turnovers in the cookers for dessert. It should be a good time. My cals will be high for today, but what are weekends for anyway?
Have a good one ladies!

05-16-2004, 06:53 PM

I usually rest on Sunday's but because I didn't log any miles on Friday or on Saturday (I was gone all day both days)... I thought I would get in a little bit today, so I got in 1.5miles. Not much but better then nothing ;)

Hope you gals are having a Wonderful Sunday ~ I know I am! :D It was ugly weather yesterday, but today is absolutely beautiful! 65* and sunny! Great for working out in the gardens... which we have been doing since we got home from church today. Oh we also put up the new Arbor we bought yesterday! It is so cool! Cannot wait to get some vines growing on it!

Later... time for me to get dinner made.
See you in the morning after I get done my Curves and walking.

I too have hada great Sun., being LAZY. I had planned to get gardening done today, but I was just wiped out. We stayed up until after midnight doing campfire fun which is very late for me. Today I opened our store at 6am, was teaching Sun school by 9am,church was done around 11:30am and then cooking dinner seemed to be about all I was up to. Oh I've been putsing outside with the kids all day, but not accomplishing anything. I ended up doing no walking yesterday, but ontop of the tennis me and the children scoured the woods for an hr. loading up firewood. I did alot of tree stomping and twisting to get them the size I wanted so I felt that was sufficient, but I've done nothing you could call exercise today and don't plan to. It's a good thing my miles were ahead of the game. I'm planning 3 or 4 for tomorrow!! I'm glad you're having such a nice weekend as well Sunny. What kind of flowers do you plan to plant for climbing your arbor? I love morning glories myself.
Take care all

05-17-2004, 12:41 AM
I had 6 miles for today!! 41 miles total for the month. I thought I posted earlier but my post seems to be missing hmmmm ok who is the post bandit?? lol jk ;) Well good to hear that you guys had a wonderful weekend!!

Sunny-Your garden sounds absolutely beautiful!! I would love to have one but I would have to invest time that I just don't have, my kids just keep me too busy, but maybe when they are older :)

Kristi - Wow you woodsy girl you!! Gatherin wood and everything ;) I'm sure you burned a fair amount of calories gathering wood so don't worry about it!!

Well its been a long day of cleaning and walking ;) so I'm gonna hit the sack.
I'll talk to you ladies tomorrow.
Sleep Well.

05-17-2004, 10:11 AM
Good morning :)

Wow, you girls are doing great with the walking! I put in another 2 miles today then did some light weight lifting. I tried to jog a little on my walk but it was very uncomfortable. I think I am going to have to wait till I have lost a few more lbs before I move to jogging.

I had a great weekend, ate very well, no pizza or steak in sight! Went to see Troy on Saturday and I think I burned off a few hundred calories drooling over Brad Pitt, Orlando Bloom and Eric Bana  . Ok, pretend I didn't say that!

It looks like another overcast day here today so I am hoping to get some gardening done before it rains. The vegetable garden is looking great but there is so much weeding to be done.

I will talk to you later, have a good day.

05-17-2004, 10:26 AM
Good morning Lynne and Michelle, Rain is expected for here today too so my miles will definitely be of TM kind. Michelle is just tearing up the track. YGG! I do love the woodsy stuff, but I was so exhausted yesterday teaching my SS class was about all I could manage, but you have just encouraged me to up my miles to 4 for today. I thinl 2 sections of 2. I may even dig out my WATP tapes ol Leslie sure seems to be doing it for you. I truly am impressed with your effort. I know how difficult it can be to make time for exercise when you have little ones in the house! Lynne, I totally hear you on the drooling being a terrific form of exercise. I went to see VanHelsing last weekend with Hugh Jackman and ate the whole big bag of popcorn. I just knew cals. were burning by the way my blod was boiling. I normally don't care much one way or the other about actors, but for me there's just something about him. There's talk he'll be the next James Bond. If so I will actually start going to 007 movies!!! Sounds like your exercise is going great for you. Keep it up. You're worth it!!! Hey Sunny, have a great Mon.

Good morning girls!! Well I did 2 miles this morning and I'm planning another 2-3 miles when hubby gets home from work :) I am beginning to feel so great and seeing some results too!! Yesterday I was able to get into a 36" bra!! I was wearing a 38-40 so I am feeling pretty wonderful about that!! Well I did some sponge painting with my 2 yo yesterday and she had a blast, and I painted the bottom of my 7 mo's feet and made some little foot prints it was lots of fun!! I'm gonna try and do a project with my 2 yo again today maybe using some noodles. Well I got some more cleaning to finish up but I hope to see some posts from you guys later today!!
Have a wonderful day!!

Sounds like you had such an enjoyable weekend with you family... good for you!!!! Hope you are having a great Monday so far too --- mine is! How can I go wrong with sunshine and 79*

Yep! That's what I am planting... Morning Glories - lavender, all shades. Hope they take hold before the bunnies find them this time. I am planting some Petunias's and then planting the seeds of the Morning Glories into the soil to kind of hide them a little from the bunnies. It worked for my neighbor, so I am gonna give it a go. When it begins to look like I want it to I will take some pictures for you to see, okay. I did some gardening yesterday, but still have tons to do. I got allot of wash done today (sheets & Blankets) and have to run a vacuum yet. And when Joe gets home we'll have dinner and head right back out into the yard. I usually wait to work in the gardens on the weekends or the evenings so Joe can join me --- he loves to work in the gardens with me and have some say in what is being done as well as lend me a helping hand --- and I think it is stress relieving for him after a hectic day and I enjoy his company. Cannot wait till it all takes hold, so I can show you all...

Gardens do take time... no doubt, but I have that. I don't have children and I don't work ~ so time I have. I have health issues, so I am not able to work but I do like to keep busy and this is a great hobby during the summer.

WoW girl --- 43miles already!!! You will be as skinny as a rail by the end of summer at this rate ;) :cp: So happy for you --- seeing results in your bra and clothing sizes!!! :cp:

How did the noodle project go today :D Sounds like you enjoy your children very much --- both you and Kristi. I think that is so wonderful!! You both sound like great moms!

Jogging is still too hard on my left leg & hip too... so it's just walking for me till these muscles build & get stronger and I lean out more. So you aren't alone ;) Weight lifting is so good for you --- good for you!!!! I go to Curves and they are resistance exercises... I didn't go this morning as planned --- I felt like a Mac Truck hit me after the sweets I had over the weekend, so I will go tomorrow instead to make up for it. Boy, do sugars do a number on me now that I have cut back. I have to be very careful on the weekends. I am great at staying away on the weekdays - it's just the weekends :o

 Too funny about Brad Pitt! I heard that *Troy* was a great movie and that Brad had allot of butt shots because he is 40 and may not be doing it again, so he told them he wanted to do them while he was in shape and young enough still --- is it true???? Allot of butt shots? Too funny!!!!??? If only I had those kind of worries...

I got in 5 miles today and will be working in the gardens with the hubby this evening, so I hope I have burned some of those sugar calories off... :^: :p :^:

Have a nice evening gals...
see you tomorrow after I get done my workouts ;)

ok count me in for another 3 miles!! 46 for the month!!

Sunny - Ohhhhh I do hope you post some pictures of your garden sometime for us!! It sounds so beautiful!! lol I won't be skinny by the end of the summer but I'll be closer than I am now and healthier for it!! I already feel so much better, I spent a year on bedrest because of my pregnancy and other health issues so I am really glad I can be up and about, I really am thankful for it :).

Ok time to hop in the shower and then we are gonna do our noodle project if Taylor doesn't fall asleep on me ;)
You ladies have a wonderful afternoon.

Alas, My Mon. was not all I'd planned it to be. The day started out great with 2 loads of laundry on the line and getting all my peppers, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage ans kalarabi plants in. I was smokin' and feeling great, because this was all done before 9am and then the school called. My oldest was in the office with a headache, sore throat, and low grade fever. I got her home and then DH needed help at wrk. I found someone to stay with DD who didn't seem too bad just maybe a little run down. I worked with DH until almost 3pm by then I had to get dinner and prepped for cub scouts. I never did get my walk in at all and by 8pm DD temp was at 103.3. She was miserable and kept mommy up off and on all night!!! Thankfully she's feeling much better today and temp is at 99.9 w/o any tylenol. I di get busy today and do 3 mile WATP tape and am once again feeling awesome. I ma heading out to put in my tomatoes now I hope to get another 3 miles in today to make up for yesterday.
Michelle, I just don't know how you do it, but I'm rooting for you, keep on truckin' as we used to say. A smaller bra is always a terrific feeling, because it usually means some of that illusive "back fat" has been banished to the underworld where all fat should be trapped!!! WTG

Good Evening...

Welcome to the thread ;)
So glad you decided to join us...

I couldn't work in the gardens today with the rains we have had, the yard and gardens are just too wet. I hope I will be able to soon. Everything is root bound in the flats and need to get into the garden & larger pots... soon I will get some pics to share.

How is your DD doing today? Glad her fever broke, but it sounds like you had quite a day. At least you got in 3 miles!

Hey there LYNNE ~
Sure do hope all in going well in your little corner of the world :goodvibes

Hope you all had a great day today!

I went to Curves today and then when I got home finished laundry, swept and washed floors and ran the vacuum I never ran yesterday... I also got in 2 more miles today and am very tired tonight. It was a struggle to get in the two miles tonight, but I really wanted to get them in.

See you all tomorrow ;)

Hi guys!!! 4 miles for me today!! 50 for the month!!

Sunny - Sorry to hear you didn't get out in the garden today I know its your passion :) I walked outside today and our lawn is covered in white fluff it looks like it snowed lol but there must be a cottonwood tree nearby because the stuff is everywhere!! We just bought this house last september so I've never seen this stuff before lol. I am however going to buy some plants for my window boxes, any suggestions as to what would grow well in a window box?

Sheila - Hey welcome to the group girl!! Just jump on in and remember to have fun with it!!

Kristi - How was your day?

Lynne - How bout you??

Well I hope this post finds you all well!! I will post again tomorrow! Sweet Dreams!

Good Rainy Morning Gals ~
It looks like another rainy day today, so no gardening for me again :( If it were just cloudy I could still go out, but it's raining... oh well... it is Spring ;)

I just finished walking 2 miles and went to Curves this morning... so I think I am done with workouts for today - I feel plum tuckered out :p . For some reason I was up this morning at 4am! What's up with that??? I have gotten allot done already and have projects that need to be finished up today --- so at least I got a head start.

Okay... now where's KRISTI, LYNNE these days :?:
Missing you gals...

Hope you ALL have an OP Day today!

Miniature Petunias's (mixed colors) would look wonderful in a window box with the variegated vines coming down. I'll have to get the name of the vines for you - I don't know off hand. Yep! That is the cottonwood tree shedding that white stuff...
it isn't that ugly sn*w word

Have a great one!

Welcome Sheila, We're all just a bunch of fun lovin' gals here. No challenges no pushing. Just lots of encouragment along the way. I know you may feel down about your lack of miles for this month, but you are in deed NO slacker. You're doing Curves faithfully and you're down 18 pounds!!! Slackers don't make those kinds of accomplishments. Now you go after that grill!!!
Hey Sunny, Sorry to hear about your rainy weather. It's finally been nice 3 days in a row here, but they're calling for more rain by Fri. It ended up my DD had a bad case of strep throat! The Dr. gave her zithromax (once a day for 5 days) she took just the one dose last night and felt well enough for school today. Good thing, becauseI got called in to work in the kitchen at school today!! There's an extra 50 bucks that'll show up in the mail a month from now after I've forgotten all about it. It's always such a nice surprise. You have been just rockin' the last two days. I'm so proud of you! I'm down for only 2 miles today, but I'm heading out now to get the rest of my veggie plants in. Hoe, hoe, hoe!
Hi Michelle, My day has gone great. I love to work in the school kitchen. I don't think I'd want to do it all the time, but I sub usually once or twice a month and that often it stays fun. Big pats on the back to you!!! 50 miles already and you still have 12 days in this month. I bow to your greatness!!! I hope you're very proud of yourself. How are your little cuties doing?
Well, I've talked pretty much about my whole day. I started reading Gr. Phil's book. I'm hoping to learn something about myself so I quit regaining every winter. I'm allready dissapointed though by the fact that he has a height to weight ratio chart right in the beginning. I'm 5'2" and the range it lists is 108 - 132 depending on your bone structure. I'm sorry, I'm a 40 y/o (well almost) stay at home mom who happens to have small bones and there is not one part of me that thinks I should weigh only 108 pounds!!!!! You know where the good Dr. can kiss me girls. But, I'm going to ignore that part and move on to the head stuff. I've been dieting for almost 30 yrs. Maybe I should write a book!!! hehe
Have a great day you lovelies!

Ladies, I have to post again. I got on the TM intending to do just 2 miles. I started slow and then started to push it. I finally hit that point people talk about when endorphins are released and you feel great.( Truly I've always thought this was a big lie people told ) UhUH it feels awesome. I ended up doing a total of 4.25 miles. The first 3 in 38 min. 9 sec. and the 4 miles in 52 min. 19 sec. The hardest part to believe though is that I still didn't want to quit. I honestly felt like I could've just kept on going. It'd been 6 days since I was on the TM last. Maybe the break from it really did my muscles good.
I hope you don't mind my blowing my own horn, but this is a point I never would've dreamed I would ever get to. Thanks for being so supportive!

Hi Ladies!

Your thread is so encouraging! I'm new to this website and wanted to find an accountability group for walking. Would it be ok if I joined in on your group?

05-20-2004, 07:12 AM

Good Morning Gals ~

WELCOME to our humble thread... this is a great little group of ladies whom I find to be very kind and encouraging, I know you will too.

I see you are a newly wed ;) Congratulations!!

:cp: Yeahhhh for Fantasia and Diana D on American Idol :cp: I am thrilled with the two of them being in the final spot. Although... ... I really do think it should have been LaToya and Fantasia (dumb voting system :p ) --- whenever I tried to call it was busy and after a couple times I would just give up. I cannot compete with those dialers some have. I know Fantasia has it either way... they both will do well.

Have a great Day everyone!!!!
See you later...

Hi Girls! :)

Wow, have I got some catching up to do!

Kristi: WTG!

SunnyD and Michelle: I can't believe how many miles you girls have walked and it's not even month over yet, congrats :).

As for me, I haven't walked the past two days. I've been in the vegetable garden instead. The plants are just big enough now so that I can weed and boy, have I been weeding. The garden is 70ft square and I've been trying to get a couple of rows done a day. Today I'm going to tackle the carrots. I've also been planting eggplant and canteloupe, no more to plant though thank goodness! According to fitday, I'm burning more calories doing this than I would walking, so even though I've missed my morning walk, I'm happy that at least something is burning off.

The good news is I made ONEderland this week. 197.5 according to the scales Tuesday :strong: .

I'm hoping to get a brisk 2 mile walk in sometime this evening, when it cools down. So I will check in with you again after I do that.

Congrats again on the miles girls, you're making me proud.

05-20-2004, 02:53 PM
Welcome Cutsiebuttons, Always room for one more!

Lynne, Welcome to wonderland, I'm sure youare just going to love it here. Seriously, Great job. A huge pat on the back to you!

Sunny, Glad to hear you ended with a nice day. It rained a couple more inches here last night. AGAIN! Lots of thunder and lighning as well. 7 y/o ended up in bed with mommy and daddy. Luckily the 4 y/o slept through it or it would've gotten crowded!

Michelle, How do you do those late night walks girl? If I haven't gotten my exercise in by 7pm I'm just not doing it. You amaze me with your dedication every day!

Hi Sheila, Great job on your Curves workouts. Stay optimistic and pray for sunshine.

2 miles for me today. I had to work in the school kitchen again today. It's so hard to eat right there. Last week I baked 500 choc. chip cookies one day, yesterday I had to put Whip cream on 400 slices of jell-o, and today I had to make a very yummy broccoli and rice bake that's just smothered in cheese sauce. I have to admit I take little tastes, but so far I haven't given in to temptation. I'm going to be brave and weigh myself tomorrow. So, I have to be good!!

Yeahhhh for you!!!!!

Your gardens sound wonderful and a garden is allot of hard work! Good job! My veggie garden is humble to say the least next to yours  I have two beefsteak tomato plants and a pepper plant and herbs... remember it's just me and the hubby, so I don't want too much of a harvest. Although, last year the neighbors benefited from it ;)

Hope you all are having a wonderful day!
My hubby is home, so I must scoot...

I did 3 miles today!! 55 for the month!

Lynne - Congratulations girl!!!!! You must be positively glowing!!

I got into the 220's yesterday so that made me smile it was only 229 but hey still 220's lol. I just can't wait til I get into the 100's too I will feel soo good.

Kristi - Ohhhh chocolate chip cookiesss they sound soooo good!! I don't think I could work in a kitchen lol I would be soo tempted lol.

Sunny - Keep up the great work!! I myself have been kind of tired lately too I'm hoping it will pass.

Well I need to eat some supper, I made stuffed peppers tonight! Then I'm gonna try and get a 2 mile walk in before I settle down for the night!!

You all have a great night and keep up the excellent work.

Oh my goodness, I almost forgot to welcome cutsiebuttons to the group!! Welcome Girly its great to have you!!

05-20-2004, 10:03 PM
Thanks ladies for the warm welcome! :sunny:

I decided to get started this morning by walking to the store to get some milk and a pedometer. On the way home I discovered it's a 3/4mi walk to the store. So, I was able to get in a 1 1/2 mi. Not a bad start, but I definately want to improve. I'm hoping to meet up with a friend after dinner and we can walk a little more. It's seems like the blocks tend to speed by faster when we get together and chat.

Lynne- That's awesome! Keep up the hard work.

Sunny- Hope you have a good time tonight!

Michelle- Wow, 5 miles! Girl, you're a machine!

Kristi- If you can resist a kitchen full of freshly baked chocolate cookies. You are the :queen: Queen of will power. I actually didn't think that could be possible.

Sheila- You're inspiring me to step it up too! I hope the weather is nice for ya this weekend.

I've got to get dinner cooking before my husband gets home for lunch.

Love ya chickies!

05-21-2004, 10:22 AM
Good Morning :)

Thanks for the kind words, I feel pretty proud of myself for getting into ONEderland, now I just have to stay there!

Welcome cutsiebuttons to our thread, you'll find lots of support here and some really great gals.

I did another 2 miles today, we're forecast for a hot day here so I'm probably not going to be able to get into the garden until tonight.

Will ttyl :).

05-21-2004, 10:33 AM
Cutsie-Way to go on getting 1.5 miles done and behind you!!

Lynne - woohooo 2 miles!!! Keep it up girl!

Well I never did get another walk in last night cuz I sat down to watch school of rock with hubby and then my 2 yo wanted to dance with me afterwards and it was pretty vigorous so I figure thats a good little workout.

I'm planning 2 miles for as soon as I get up off my butt lol. I will ttyl!!

05-21-2004, 10:53 AM
Yippee for all of us!! We are all just rockin'!! The miles are adding up and the pounds are counting down. Woohoo! It's been thundering and lightning all morning again and I've just been dying to get on here. I finally got brave and weighed today after two weeks. I'm down 4 pounds. I'm so excited. So far I've resisted having a "special treat" to reward myself lol. I finally got almost all my garden in last night. I must not have been paying very close attention in the green house. I have 6 cherry tomato plants. One is enough for any family. I think I'm going to make the kids care for them and then they can sell them by the pint. Keeping 1/2 the money and giving the other 1/2 to the local food pantry or something. Well, I have loads of housework to get done.
Have a great day everybody

almost forgot 3 miles for today

http://www.countryclipart.com/peachset/basketpeachespie.gif Good Morning Gals ~
I went to Curves this morning for my weigh-in and measure... all I lost in inches from last month was a quarter inch in my hips... and my weight is still 195 (down 21lbs all together). I am not disappointed, I just have to keep on truckin' and increase my workouts a little bit. I think I am puffy from the water I am holding (even thought I drink tons of water in a day ~ over 100oz ) - it is very muggy here and hot! Not complaining 'bout the weather, mind you... but it is a reason for holding water. So I really think that my next Curves weigh and measure will be much better and look forward to next month. I did go down a bit in body fat --- from 41.40% to 40.80% --- down 1.19lbs in fat. I know it will be a better result next month cuz I am just gonna work harder!

Thanks! Joe & I always have a good time :) We left the house at 7pm and stopped over to the SIL's to drop off a computer program and ended up visiting for an hour; then when we got to the Wal-Mart I bumped into one of the workers from my Curves and spent another 45min chatting with her, so by the time we finished shopping and got home it was almost 10pm :^:  :dizzy: What an evening... but it was nice! And I got all I needed, well... almost... they didn't have my hair color :( I wanted to color my hair again - I always feel better after I do it. It comes out so pretty. Oh well... I'll get a box this weekend and do it later.

WoW! 44miles - everytime I get somewhat close you pull away
GREAT JOB!!!!!!!!!!!! DOWN 4#'s - awesome job!

And YOU!!!! I'll never get close :dizzy: :^:
55miles... You go girl :smug:

Hope that the weather cooperates with you so you are able to get a few in... I usually go to the park with the hubby and walk at least 3miles, but the last two Sat. it has rained :rain: here and we weren't able to go, so I too hope it's nice enough for us to go this Sat.

It finally stopped raining here, we had quite a loud storm during the night - it woke me at 2:30 this morning... it is so muggy! Hope the humidity goes down soon, so I can get out into my gardens. I work in the evenings when it's muggy like this.

Haven't walked yet today... so I'll be back when I do ;)

Me <><

05-21-2004, 12:35 PM
I was just looking over your sig. stats again - you are only 8#'s away from your GOAL (!) now -
IS that AWESOME or WHATTTTT!!!!! :dancer:
You went from the 140's to 130's -
BRAVO :bravo:!!!

:) Me <><

05-21-2004, 03:37 PM
Kristi - 8 lbs to Goallllll!!!!! I 'm soooo happy for you you are getting so close :) Keep it up girl!!

Sunny - hey girl 1/4 inch is a quarter inch don't discount that at all you are doing great and working so hard! I'm sooo happy for you as well!! I can't wait til I'm where you are at now!! only 28 lbs til I get to onederland lol but thats not official until my Weigh in on Sunday!! But I'm very excited.

Lynne - How's it going girly? Feeling better?

I did 2 miles today, I'm slowing it down a bit this week so I don't get my body sooo used to the workouts that they become inefficient but tomorrow I'm going to have a 4 or 5 mile walk :)

Well its been rainy here all day and the kids are so antsy therefore driving me absolutely batty lol. But they've calmed down since they had a power nap thank god!!
Ok I better get off here!

05-22-2004, 09:18 AM

Good Saturday Morning Gals ~

I never did walk yesterday... I didn't feel very well after I got home from my Curves. I guess I was fooling myself thinking that I wasn't disappointed in the results after working so hard on my exercsie and diet. I am feeling a little better today. I am hoping to get to the park today for a walk - in between the raindrops :rain: ;)

For trying to make me feel better... you are kind and it did help ;) I will not give up - I have come too far, but I did need to take a rest day yesterday. Cheering you on :cheer: in reaching *One*derland!! You too are working so very hard!! :cp:

I just thought I may share some pictures: 1 of the Arbor that Joe put together for me :) And 1 of my Lilac Trees in the back of our place ~
see the small window? That's my bathroom leading into our bedroom, that beautiful scent fills our rooms from that lilac tree every Spring. Just wish it would last longer ;) The now empty garden behind our shed (to the right of the trees in the pic) is where our veggies will go :D Our humble garden...

Just click on the titles to see the pictures ;)

*Have a Wonderful Couple of Days Everyone!*
:sunny: SunnyD <><

05-22-2004, 10:18 AM
Sunny - That arbor is absolutely gorgeous!! I want one now!!! you have such a lush yard, ours always stays green and mowed and we have rock beds around the big tree in the front yard and rockbeds against the house and tulips along the fence line but thats it! I just can't wait til I can do more out there I'm just gonna have to wait til the girls are older cuz they are too young for me to leave inside or unattended lol.

I probably won't walk today, I woke up not feeling too good and was woken up by the people who rent the house next door screaming and fighting with eachother, had to call the cops for the 3rd time in a week and a half!! Ughhhh I am going to find out who the owner is so I can call him and talk to them about the problems with their tennants.

Ok my girls are screaming at me I better get off here I will talk to you guys later!

05-22-2004, 08:33 PM
Hi Sunny and Michelle, I'm sorry to seem unsupporting. The weather here yesterday was so bad I had two posts get lost. My children even had to go in the tornado safe areas of the school. My garden I was so happy to get planted Wed. looks like a sm pond and so does my basement!!! We got no sleep last night. Our sump pump quit working at 11pm. We own a gas station, convenience store, feed and farm supply store. We knew there was another pump in one of the under grounds gas tanks so DH and I were out in the rain with flashlights trying to find it. Long story short my FIL had taken it out. It was just in the shop right by the car hoist!!!! Only problem, it's a pump with no float so you have to manually turn it on and off. Every hr. on the hr all night and so far today to stay ahead of it. Two roads out of our area are flooded over. The big but though is, we're allright. No actual tornado touched down or anything like that. I'm just thinking maybe God is trying to save me all the stress of having to can at the same time Sun school, scouts, soccer, school, etc starts lol The sun is shining beautifully right now, but they're calling for more rain tonight. Soooo, Sunny don't get down on yourself. Your sticking to the plan and working really hard. We always hit plateaus, but with the effort your putting out you will soon surpass it. You're healthier and feeling loads better and if anyone deserves it it's you!!
Michelle, You deserve a down day as well girl!!! You've racked up so many miles I can't believe something isn't aching!! So, sorry to hear you have annoying neighbors. That must be awful especially if your girls can hear as well. I'll pray that tonight is better.
Take care and have a great weekend!
put me down for 2 miles

Oh my goodness kristi!! I can't believe you are being flooded!! I'll say a prayer for your family that you get through it all ok :)

Another day of no walking for me I am still sick as a dog and can't hardly move and I get dizzy when I stand up so I'm just stuck in bed!! I hope you ladies are having a good weekend, hopefully I can get a walk in tomorrow, who knows maybe i'll atleast try to do a mile but I can't say for sure.

Have a great Sunday!

05-24-2004, 10:38 AM
Good Morning :)

Michelle - I hope you are feeling better.

Kristi - wow you are really getting some bad weather, I'll keep you in my thoughts and say a prayer for you.

SunnyD - don't feel down! you are doing great and you have lost 21 lbs, which is awesome. Keep going, I know you can do it. You're such a warm force on this board I hate to see you down.

I did another 2 miles today and had a very busy weekend. Saturday we met some friends for lunch then went to an antique furniture auction which was really entertaining. Sunday was spent in the garden weeding and putting up frames for the tomatoes and peas. I'm weeding again today hopefully too, plus have housework so it's going to be a busy day I think!

Friday I am set to take my written driving test *gulp* so I also need to go over the study book one more time.

Well, got to go, I will probably check in again tomorrow. Have a great Monday everyone :).

Hi ladies!

This weekend was very busy but I did manage to walk 4 miles in the last 3 days. My husband also LOVES to rollerblade and I've always wanted to try to learn but, I could never justify picking up rollerblades for myself. Friday, he bought me a just because present and they were rollerblades! He said that he thought I'd enjoy learning and excersing with him. Well, I had my first lesson after church Sunday and it was a riot! I finally got the hang of it and fortunately never fell down. Ohhh my goodness, does it work by hips and thighs- I'm definately feeling it this morning.

Sunny D- I loved the pictures of the arbor and the lilac tree. They're beautiful! I also think you're doing a great job and have made so much progress. I will be praying for you, I know God will help you get through this plateau.

Kristi- How's your home? Did everything turn out ok? We've never had a tornato here in Oregon, just LOTS of rain. I hope you and your family are doing well. You will be be in my prayers.

Michelle- I hope you're feeling better. You're such a hard worker! I hope that you were able to get rested and refreshed this weekend.

Lynne- Your garden sounds like it's going to be beautiful. I've always wanted a vegetable garden but I live in an apartment, so it's not really an option. Good luck on your test on Friday!

Good Afternoon Gals ~
I am so sorry that I cannot post individually right now - the hubby is due home at any moment (he called). But just in case I am not able to come back later I wanted to post my miles for today. I got in another 2.5miles :)

Thank you all so much for the support! You just don't know how much it means to me!!!!!! I really got to feeling low, but your kind & encouraging words brought me back into perspective and I am back on track again today.

I will try to come by this evening - but if I am not able I WILL catch up with you all tomorrow after I get home from my Curves class.

:sunny: SunnyD <><

EDIT: I don't seem to be able to add :dizzy: I added wrong and shorted myself a mile --- 42miles not 41 :o

2 miles for me today!! I was feeling so lazy for not doing any walking the last 2 days because I was sick so it felt really good to get some exercise in!!

Its late and I should go to bed, I hope you all had a wonderful Monday!

05-25-2004, 10:05 AM
Good morning :)

Another 2 miles done for me today.

I hope you are fully recovered Michelle!

SunnyD I am glad you are feeling a bit better, we're all here for each other which is why I really like this board.

I got rained on during my walk so off to get changed and take a shower, will ttyl :).

05-25-2004, 01:43 PM

Hey there Gals ~
I haven't walked yet today, but will later - just wanted to stop back and post to you all. I have gone to Curves this morning and had quite a workout. It always feels so good after I have gone. When I am getting ready to go I really want to just go hop back into bed  but I fight the feeling and just "do it" --- it always pays off ;)

I love walking in the rain - when it's warm.
Glad to hear you were able to get in your walk today.

Sounds like you had quite a busy weekend... us too. Did you buy anything at the auction you went to - or just go for the fun of going? I have never been to an auction, but have always wanted to see what it was like to go. Sounds like fun.

We still haven't gotten our tomatoes or peppers in the garden - it is just so wet! The moment I step onto our lawn you sink in with muddy waters going into your shoes - we too have flooding like you would not believe in N.E., Ohio... many area's were without electricity and have flooded homes. In fact, it is raining right now - again! The forecasters are saying that we should have nice cooler, clear weather after today - I sure do hope so! We will be harvesting our lawn soon in bales if we don't get it cut this weekend. I am also hoping to get the veggies planted this weekend. Sounds like you have a good size veggie garden... bet it keeps you busy.

Wishing you *LUCK* this Friday with your written driving test... did you not have a license before now, Lynne? Or is this test for another kind of license? Maybe I missed a post when you explained it.

I am so sorry to hear that you became so ill! Glad to hear that you are feeling a bit better now - was it the flu? Sure sounds like it was... it seem to hit you fast and hard. Maybe you needed to slow up a little and rest - you have been really working hard, between the walking and the family. I know what you mean about the lack of motivation after not working out for awhile - that's what happened to me. I had not walked since last Thursday - I did do Curves on Friday, but didn't get in my walk. It took all I had yesterday to get back on the T-Mill, but I was so glad I did! After I finished up... I felt great.

I am glad you enjoyed the pictures... have more of my yard and all the pots I planted, but they are still on the camera. So you will have to wait till I download them and make them smaller for the forum. I enjoy sharing pictures with everyone - especially of my gardens and of my three boys (the cats ;) )... they are so precious to me. They don't know they are cats - they think they are people... they own me!

I too am sorry to hear of your neighbors - I feel so blessed, we have lovely neighbors here. Most are older... we are in a 55 & older Mobile Home Park (moved in before it was changed over - I think we are one of the yournger couples living here), and most time are caring or checking in on them. The are sweet and we love it here. I wish that for everyone... too bad some neighbors are inconsiderate and unkind. I feel for you and your family.

I am so sorry to hear that you are flooding!!! Was there allot of damage??? I know allot of people are suffering with their homes flooding & sink holes!!! How's your home?!? Thank the Lord, ours is just the yard! We have another huge storm moving over us now... when will it all stop! It has been one heck of a Spring so far! I hope you don't lose your gardens... after all your hard work. I have held off planting my veggies till this weekend - hope it pays off to wait and the weather gets better.

Were you able to catch up with yourself after the weekend??? We miss you here. I surely hope that you were able to clean up after your flooding and catch up with your rest!

*Thinking of you* Kristi!!!!

Good for you getting in some miles over the weekend... soon we'll be starting a new month in June ( JuNe WaLkErS ) and you will be able to be there from the beginning of the month with us ;) WoW... it's almost June already - where is the time going?!

I think it's great that you are roller-blading!!!! I have such weak ankles - roller-blades and ice-skates are not for me. I use to roller-skate, but it's been years! I hear that roller-blading is great exercise! I am proud of you for doing it & never falling (!) - good for YOU! Soon the aches will go away.

Thank you so much for your prayers... I love it when someone offers to pray for me - my chances are so much better in succeeding... and I feel I do better. I am feeling allot better - so your prayers have already done the trick... Thank you so much ;) :goodvibes

Hope all is going well with you & we see you back here again... ;)

*Wishing you all a Good Day*

Sunny, we went to the auction for fun. It's a regular auction which runs every Saturday and friends of ours go quite regular. Each week they auction different things. We didn't buy any of the furniture, I did bid on a pair of brass frog bookends, which were adorable but I was outbid by someone else! It was a lot of fun, my first auction and we're going again this Saturday, modern furniture this week and we're hoping to pick up a pair of nighstands for our bedroom.

This will be my first driving license, yep I cannot drive! I'm looking forward to learning!

Will ttyl, got to go study now :).

I'm ba-a-a-a-ack and so glad to be. It's been a heck of a few days, but we've survived prety much intact. We are still pumping water every 2 or 3 hrs. because it just keeps seeping in. We were to get more rain last night, but luckily it just missed us. The sun is actually trying very hard to peek through all the clouds right now. I did no miles on Sun. but had a blast bowling with my S.S. class. 3 games. That must count for something. Had a great end of the yr. Scouting party last night. I ate WAY too much and also got no exercise yesterday. Shame I know. My best friend of 26 yrs. called last night and her mother passed away Sun. night. She'd been sick since Christmas and was in hospice care the last 6 days. Very sad, but yet she knows her mom is now with her dad and she's much happier.
Michelle, Sorry to hear you were sick. WTG getting right back on program. You are such an inspiration. Thanks for your prayers. It means a lot!
Lynne, I just got done washing all my towels nice and fluffy. Do you need one lol Hope it wasn't a cold rain. Thanks too for the prayers. That's so nice
Jennifer, Roller blades!!!! That's awesome, they are my planned gift to myself when my waiste hits a certain number. I've never been able to justify the expence for myself. That sounds kinda sad. We're worth it right now right lol Great job getting active.
Sunny, Thanks for all your lovely thoughs. My home is soggy, but ok!! I think my garden is actually going to be all right as well if the rain stays away. The weather man is calling for more this eve, but he was wrong last night. Pray without ceasing! I hope everything is fine with your home and gardens as well. You mentioned sink holes. Is your beautiful yard suffering? Great job getting back in perspective. Take care.
3 miles today ( planning another 3 suffering TOM so it's iffy )
Have a SUNNY day all!

No... no sink holes in our yard, but some of our friends have problems. Also with soil erosion from the rains. It was raining earlier; then it cleared up. Now we are right in the path for another major storm. My weather-bug is chirping like crazy. It is warning us of the storm coming in... I hope it passes through quickly and w/o much damage done.

Glad to see you back and to hear that all is under control. Do you have a finished basement?

I think it is so cool that you are getting your license! It's never too late to do anything... I was 19 before I got mine and I learned on a standard. I loved the standard, but after my car accident (in 1976) my hubby wouldn't buy another small car :^: I think you will do just fine... have you practiced driving? I aced the driving part (100%), but got a 96% on my written because I didn't know what the depth of the tread on a tire should be (still don't - ).

You make me want to go to an auction... I think they have them here in Aurora, Oh. every Saturday --- I'll have to look into it. We do go to a huge Flee Mrket 2x a year at the Burton Fair Grounds - I think there's like 5-800 vendors. They set up in June and then again in Sept. I love going there just to look at everything and see friends.

Good to see you! So glad to hear that you did get in some miles over the weekend... I wish you the very best on your insurance exams. You havta come back ;) and fill us in on how you did :D

So sorry to hear of your food poisoning!! :o
But glad to hear that you are better now... gotta watch those exp. dates!

I gotta run - I hear thunder... ;)

3 miles for me today!! 62 for the month!!

Kristi - Oh its so great to see you made it through all that rain ok!! I'm building you an ark ;) I'll put one of every animal on if you can pick up their better halves I'd appreciate it lol!!

Sunny - Hope everything is great with you!!!

Lynne - An auction sounds like fun!! Was it a live auction? I've never been to one of those only silent auctions. Woo hooo your first drivers license!!??!! Thats wonderful!!

Sheila - Sorry to hear about your food poisoning :( I really hope you are feeling better!!

Well girls tomorrow is my 1st official weigh in with my doctor (since I started meds) I'm ready to see how impressed she is with all the work I've done!! I really have been working hard!! Sorry to pat my own back but I'm quite proud of myself lol!

Off to bed

Good Afternoon MICHELLE ~
Yep... whatever came through OHIO yesterday missed us, so we are fine here :) My hubby actually was able to mow the lawn last night :o He'll need to do it at least two more times over the weekend to catch up.

I too await your good news from the Dr. today...
come back soon and fill us in!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good to hear that you are feeling better after that bad bout with the  bottle

I am feeling so much better now... I have been nursing a migraine headache since Monday evening. I thought I might be able to handle it w/o meds, but alas I caved and took a a migraine tablet... now I am much better. I can actually see now. Those are so bad when they hit, I haven't had one in a very long time - I think I got it from working all stooped over doing the pots on Sunday evening and on Monday morning. I went to Curves yesterday with it and thought it may go away - not! So this morning I missed my Curves :( Oh well, I am just dandy now... no complaints. And I hope to get to Curves on Thurs. & Fri. to make up for lost time.

My Joe is off the next 5 days :cheer: so I will post when I am able to, okay gals. I usually don't go on the computer much when he's home... unless he is outdoors working on something. I just am with him so little that I don't want to take time away from him when he is home - ya know ;)

I am going to try to get in a 2miler today -
so I'll be back later...

Is that you holding the Possum? Just wondered... it's always nice to see what everyone looks like ;) Possum is beautiful! But whomever that is holding him looks to be a bit annoyed :o  I use to have a long-haired gray cat, named *Smokey*, years ago - he was my very first kitty... I miss him still.
I love pictures and am glad you shared too! :smug:

There's a picture of me in my Profile :)

Oh how neat to see what everyone looks like!!! What cute kitties!! I don't want cats because they tend to be less child friendly lol we do have a dog who is great with our two girls She was a puppy when my 2 yo was 1 when we got her, omg that sentance was a wreck I hope you understood it lol!!

Ok now the doctor was sooo impressed with my progress and they like my dedication. It made me feel sooo good!!

Ok its late so I need to make this a short post sorry guys!

2 miles for me today!

sleep well

Good Afternoon Everyone!

Hi  MICHELLE ~
You did better then I did! I never did get in a walk yesterday nor will I today - I AM going to make up for it though, cuz I want to make 50 miles for the month of May... where did the month go?!

You are right about the cats being less 'child friendly'... I enjoy dogs too, but am not able to have them here where I live. Otherwise I'd have both ;) I just enjoy animals in general. Glad you liked all the pictures :)

You stated that the Dr. was impressed with you, but you never said how much you lost? Maybe I missed it...

Have a good weekend Michelle ;)

Okay... where is everyone else???????????????????????

 I have my hubby home today though Monday :cp: I am so happy! I love it when he takes time off and we don't make any plans... just taking it a day at a time. We have allot we want to finish up in our gardens/yard for the beginning of summer. Now that the yard is drying up we plan to work in the gardens... And we have a wake to go to tonight for our DFriend who passed away at only 64 yrs old from brain cancer (that will be a bummer...)

Because hubby is home I will miss a *Curve* day - but I will try to keep up my walking. Although, yesterday I didn't do anything... I nursed a migraine headache all day. It began on Monday evening, but the pain peaked yesterday, that's what I get for holding off the meds (I didn't want to take them) - so I could do nothing... today I am so much better. So I hope to go to Curves tomorrow morning. Can't today - too soon after the migraine, don't want it to come back  I haven't had one of those (a migraine) in a long time!

We had :sunny: sunshine and blue skies :cloud9: this morning & it was absolutely beautiful... but alas it has gotten cloudy again with a few sprinkles :rain:

Okay... later Gals...
*Have a SAFE & Fun weekend!*

It's so great to sit down and read all your news. I hope to have time to respond individually tomorrow. Yesterday I had a blast at Circus World Museum on a field trip with 2 of my children and made it through Martha's wake. My friend is so sad. It makes me sad. The funeral was today. I was able to attend the service, but had to skip the the cemetery and luncheon. I plan to get together tonight with the family after I attend the t-shirt dance with my children at school. On top of all the activities I have TOM and am eating terrible. Funnel cake and the like!!! I'm gonna keep walking and be happy to maintain this week. I did get in another 3 miles on Tues. and 5 today. Take care all!

Good morning :)

Sorry I haven't been able to post this past couple of days, our phone line was cut Wednesay morning! The highway dept are digging up and widening our road and getting ready to gravel it and we lost our phone and internet lines. We're expecting to lose them a couple more times before the work is done so if I don't post for a day or so, that's why!

I walked 2 miles Wednesday and 4 miles yesterday.

Got to go, will try post more later today :).

05-28-2004, 10:57 AM
Just a quick post to log my miles... Joe & I walked in the park this morning and got in 3.25miles. And saw allot of geese with their young trailing behind them - so cute... well... cute till they grow up and poop all over the place :p

We are having a cup of coffee to take the chill out of our bones and then heading to the garden ctr... need a few more things yet. It's only 55* here this morning and very overcast (burrr) - sure do hope the sun pops out soon. Although, it is perfect for working out in the yard... it's not raining, just overcast.

Good to see everyone!
I hope to post individually later... gotta run now.

Hi All, How nice for you to have DH on a Fri. Sunny! Sorry your weather's not the greatest. It's sunny and beautiful here. Two days in a row now. Love your patriotic pics. I got my poopy early this morning!!!

Oh Michelle, The funnel cake was delicious and we're planning a camp fire for tonight and probably tomorrow night too sooooo, lots more cals a comin' this weekend I'm sure! TOM has been just killing me. So unpredictable this month. I keep thinking he's gone and then surprise he's back. Getting very annoying. Great job on the pounds lost. You must be very proud. Good luck on weigh in!!

Lynne, Sorry to hear your lines have been down. We'll always be thinking of you when you're not able to be here. Keep up that walking!!!

I had a great time at the dance with my kids last night and am looking forward to a camp fire tonight. I did 3 miles today and finished the first 2 in 23 min and 36 sec. my best time ever. I'm feeling really good about it. My goal for this month was not only to walk the 50 miles, but to be able to do 2 miles in under 24 min and I succeeded. I try to exercise outside my "comfort zone" for at least 1/4 mile each walk and it's helping me to increase speed and endurance! Enough of that! Have a great weekend. I'm looking forward to JuNe WaLkErS!!
