howdy all! i hope all is well with y'all. this is just the second time since january that i've checked in. so, i don't have a clue as to what is happening with whom. my dd and i enjoyed spending a month with supersized in the states. hopefully we'll get to go back for one more visit before dd starts kindergarten in september. although i've not been checking in, i have managed to lose a little over the past months. i really need to start exercising though. dh and i are getting ready to embark on adding to our little family. because i was not in the habit of exercising when i got pregnant with my dd, i could not walk for exercise with out starting contractions. so, i really need to get my body used to it this time before getting pregnant. although i am not quite as thin as i wanted to be, i've still lost 38 lbs. i'll still be working on lightening the load until a confirmation comes. anyway, i'd better get off for now and get lunch ready. i hope all of you will be enjoying a great day today. the weather here can't make up its mind if it is gonna be spring or winter. dd and i are rooting for spring. it was so nice on easter. the kids really enjoyed hunting for eggs at the ambassador's residence after our chapel service. okay, here i start talking again. have a super great day, everyone!

Good Morning Fulfig...nice to meet you! Good luck with adding to the family!

Well, not much happening here this morning. Just another day of work! Hope that everyone has a great day. I'll check back in after work this afternoon!

Fullfig: Congrats on the weight loss and have fun adding to the family ;) (Congrats if they're in order---you mentioned tests to confirm ;) )

Lisa: Doesn't work suck? I think we should have just as many NON-work days as work days....but get paid the same

Well, this morning has started out drizzling outside and gloomy. What better way to start the day of working with the witch? ARGH!!!! I keep telling myself "keep your MOUTH shut". Hopefully the 4 hours (today through friday) go SUPER fast so I don't have to put up with her long!! I'm getting an ear infection or something. :(
Other than that things are going ok as far as this WOE. Strawberries were a disaster (and um...ended up eating candy bars again). But who knows what I'll figure out tonight. Maybe I'll use my moms' recipe for pumkin bars. They only have 3 (or was it 2?) grams of carbs and were delicious!! I'd really rather not have ANYTHING but the body's saying "feed me seymour". So what's a person to do?
Hope you all have a great day and I'll check back later :)

Trazzie: Glad the heating pads are working. I've started getting monster cramps and it's what saves me!! Hope you're feeling better

Shimma: How's the sinuses today??

Shimma

Morning All!

Funny how as the week turns towards Friday I start getting in better and better moods. ;) The sinuses are finally draining... into my lungs. I'm so congested this morning that I didn't even want my morning cigarette (go ahead and lecture... I smoke about 5 cigarettes a day). So... they're getting there. If I would remember to go pick up my Allegra I would probably do even better. Oh well. The BF and I booked a little cottage for may 7 and 8 and I am sooooooooooo looking forward to that!!! Yippeeee!!! Down 2 lbs this morning but I'm only taking one of them.... I don't ever trust a 2 lb loss.

fullfig: I think I remember you checking in before. Your stats look great and good luck with the family addition!

Morning Lisa

Brenda: Thanks for asking about my sinuses! I hope your ears aren't too bad and that the boss has larangitis so she can't annoy you! :)

Fullfig: It has been too long! So good to hear from you. We have often wondered about you. Also glad to hear you mention Supersize. How is she doing? Tell her I asked about her. You are still in Turkey I take it? If you are pregnant will you be coming back to the states to have the baby? So many questions................

Mrs. H:

Brenda: Sorry about work. Just bite your tongue and get through the day. Would love to see that recipe for Pumpkin Bars.....sounds yummy.

Well, I seem to still be on my eating binge. Can't seem to stop. Isn't helping that TOM is here and for some reason this month I have the cravings from ****. And someone please tell the people at work to STOP BRINGING IN FOOD! There are chocolate chip cookies and pastries in the kitchen right now. :(
I am terrified to weigh myself. I so wanted to make my goal by the end of May but I know now that this isn't going to happen. It is my own fault and I can accept that. The one thing I have noticed though is that this "break" if you want to call it that, has made me realize that this is definitely a WOE and I know that I will get back to it. I am actually looking forward to it. That in itself is so strange because any other plan I was on was like a forced march. This plan is just a way of eating and when you do it you lose and when you don't you don't! Simple as that.

Well serman is over. I hope you all have a wonderful day and I will check in later.

Good morning Shimma: I just gave up cigs on Friday. I used to smoke all the time and then quit about 6-7 years ago. For some reason I started taking 1 or 2 here or there and then this past 4 months I was smoking all the time....well maybe only 6 or so a day but still. I just wanted to stop again. I think that also may be why I am craving some snacks!
Not lecturing....just comiserating with you.
A cottage for a couple of days.....how nice. I really want my dh and I to go away this summer but we have 3 weddings to go to this summer and they are going to strap us a bit for cash.

brenda, shimma, and mrs h--thanks for the well wishes with baby planning. i am not yet pregnant. we are just getting ready to start that venture.

jane--supersized is fine. she is still plugging along with atkins right now. i'm just a couple of pounds heavier than her right now. i'm planning to have the baby here, if i conceive in time. we have 14 months left. i was planning to wait until the end of the summer, but got to thinking about how we might not get pregnant right away. i was almost 29 when i got pregnant with dd, but am now 34 and dh is 39. i figure that age will factor in somehow. so, we will see how it goes. we do have the choice of delivering in germany or the states, if we would prefer. unless there are serious complications, i'd rather be here with my dh at that time. my dd asks on a daily basis about when God is going to put a baby sister in my tummy. sometimes when i tell her that it has not happened yet, she asks me if i really prayed and asked God to do it. she assures me that she has already and asked him to give her a baby sister. she will be 5 in july. i'll try to get super to start posting again. she has been really busy with work and getting one year repairs on her house. while i was there, we got our mom to try atkins. her cardiologist was so pleased that she had lost so much with atkins ( i think 25 or so) and said it is a fine plan to be on. he was also pleased with the fact that she is walking 4 miles a day. we are so proud of her. super gave me a bunch of her clothes while i was there. eventhough we are about the same weight and she is 2 inches shorter, i wear a size bigger than her. she is in large, and i'm in x-large. i'm just so proud to be out of the numbered x's. super is smaller boned than me. i'm bigger boned with wider hips and shoulders. i'll make sure to tell her that you asked about her. neither of us have been on computer much lately. i'm getting ready to email her shortly.

mrs h--it's nice to meet you too

Good moring ladies!!

WOW Fullfig great to hear from you again!! Gald to hear supersize is good as well! Congrats on continueing to loose!! I was the same way with my 1st pregnancy I couln't exercise but with the second I had gotten used to it and that pregnancy was much more enjoyable and easy! So CONGRATS!!!! :)

Mrs H have fun at work, I will be there soon myself! YUCKY!! hahaha

Jane I know exactly how you feel I felt the same with my break over Easter and I have done so well at this re-induction because I was so happy to get back to WOE and feel good. Bite the bullet girl, get on the scale and see the damage (or no damage) and that will make you get right back on WOE, also I did the weekly goals because I knew it would be harder to cheat if I had to write down that I didn't make goal. I know you can do this, when you are ready just hop back on!! We are right here for you! :)

Shimma (I won't lecture cause i am sure you know!! hahaha) CONGRATS On the 2 pounds though even is it only turns out to be 1!!! :)

Brenda hope that weather perks up for you soon!!!

Well I am off to work at the vet today. I stayed home from the gym last night cause TOM cramps knocked me on my A**!! so now I have to go on thurs fri sat sun, but oh well. Tonite I will try my resist a ball at home. Feeling great on my re-induction and my clothes are falling off!!! I could pull down my pants yesterday without unbuttoning or zipping!! ahahahahahaa!!!!

OH YEAH.....I forgot how to post a picture, I got my before picture all ready to post then I forgot how so if someone please leave me instructions that would be excellent, then you can see how hefty I used to be!!! ROFL!!!

Fullfig!!!! Welcome back! I'm so happy to see you! Tell you sister to stop spending so much time with that HOA and come back ;)

Mrs H - Happy slogging through work!

Brenda - Pumpkin bars sound yummy and I have a whole can of pumpkin that I've been wondering what to do with. Will you share the recipe?

Shimma - No lectures on cigarettes here! With all the time I spend out drinking, you'd probably guessed that I smoke. I'm not a daily smoker, just a out-drinking-at-the bar smoker. :smoking:

Jane - You're gonna be great! The WOE realization is a big step in the right direction.

TG - Oh baby, I hear you on the cramps! I'm dying! So I'm all drugged up on advil and practically wearing sweats to work. I'm so glad I only do this 4 times a year. I've actually been told that exercise helps make the cramps go away so I'm gonna find a good cardio workout to do today and see if it helps.

So aside from being on the TOM bandwagon, not much is new. I made it successfully through a Tuesday night without any bad behavior so maybe the bad girl-ness is out of my system for a bit. ;)

I've been working 10 hour days this week and I'm tired! We've got plans for the weekend so hopefully I'll squeeze some sleep in somewhere. Have a great day!

I got this web site from my sister last week which came in handy because I just started the Adkins Diet. So far I have lost 5 pounds. I have been reading your messages all week and I think you all are so great :) and I wanted any good tips from anybody. I'm having a hard time with the no beer or wine thing for the introduction part. Ive been sneaking a glass of red wine here and there. I also have had a low carb beer. So far it doesn't seem to stop any weight loss. What do you guys think :?: about the drinking part???

So far so good....no cheats today. I have eaten all of my snacks though so don't know what I am going to do this afternoon. Getting back on this wagon is tough. :( I brought a low carb bar to work with me just in case....I will try and drink my water and see if I can make it without it. :crossed:

Hi Andimac- Im an old newbie too....Congrats on the loss! Don't want to speak for anyone, but although I havent lately, Im 4 square in favor of social drinking. :)

As far as smoking, I've never done it ( too busy eating) and its probably a good thing since I have an addictive personality....but I will show myself as REALLY dumb and say that I thought about starting once to try and lose weight!

Im now officially into ketosis (spits out a mouth full of pennies) and have learned to just check once a day instead of 20 times....
However, I havent stepped on the scales in a couple weeks....the 5 pound fluctuation thing just defeats me so Im gonna guesstimate...

Welcome Andi!

Check out the FAQ at the top of our little forum. It will answer a lot of questions, but I don't think alcohol is in there.

A little bit once in a while is not a big deal. Your body will burn the alcohol before anything else so if you drink alot, you'll really slow yourself down. Other than that, watch the carbs. Wine and beer still have some. That's why I stick with vodka ;)

andimac8
04-21-2004, 03:49 PM
Hey Vodka :D always works for me too !!!! How much weight do you think is normal per week ??? I'm 5ft 4in was :( 220lbs now weighing 213lbs after a week. I started walking on my treadmill :) today and I'm hoping to lose more per week. What sounds like normal weight loss to you ???

Just dropping a quick note to say Hi, I haven't had much time to read through all the posts so I'll be back later. I want to get outside and get a walk in before it starts to pour. My luck with the great outdoors hasn't been the best lately.
The good news is today is my 3rd month on Atkins and I don't think a 40.5 pound loss is to shabby. I'm getting so excited that I only have 10.5 pounds to get to one-derland. It's so close I can taste it!! Okies before the ole body dies down and losses energy I'm out and about. Hope everyone is having a fine day :)

StarPrincess

There is no "normal" weight loss.

Here's the 2 things you can expect:

1 - you will probably lose more in the first week or two than any other week. That's because you're losing water.

2 - no matter how quickly you lose at the beginning, you will slow down as you get closer to your goal

:)

fullfig: So great seeing you around again! Congrats on your continued weight loss success! We miss you (and supersized, too)!!

Lisa: Hope you are having a fantastic day!

Brenda: Hope your day with the witch went better than expected.

Shimma: I hope your sinuses clear up -- I had so much trouble with allergies before I moved here, so I know what you're dealing with -- it's miserable. That's so exciting about the BF, you and the cottage. Hope you have a great time!

Jane: Glad you are excited to get back to this WOE. I know what you mean about dreading getting back onto other plans.

TG: Congrats on the clothes falling off! (That sounds funny...) You're doing such a great job!

Star: Hope you get to feeling better, and I hope you can get some sleep.

andimac8: A very warm welcome to you!

Marie: No worries. I thought the exact same thing! Everyone talks about gaining weight when they quit smoking, so I thought the opposite would be true -- if I started smoking, I would lose weight. I never tried out the theory, thank goodness. I am a very occassional drinking smoker, though. :^:

Trazzie: You are doing so awesome!! 40.5 pounds in three months is incredible!! Way to go!! :cb:

I've been at a meeting most of the day. Since I work out of my apartment, it's kind of nice to get out and actually see people. But at the same time, I don't like getting out of my routine and having to dress up.

Oh, something actually exciting for work -- I get to go to Buffalo for a meeting in May, and I get to go to Niagra Falls. I've always wanted to go there, so I'm excited. The meeting is basically a half a day, but they are paying for two and a half days there and scheduled the Niagra Falls tours for us. We get to go on the Maid of the Mist, which was in "Bruce Almighty," one of my favorite movies, so it's kind of cool to do what Jim Carrey did (since I love him so much). I'm probably a pretty sad person...

My dad got me an Atkins cookbook, so I'm anxious to try out some recipes. The spinach and artichoke dip is calling my name. :D

Well, I hope everyone is having a fabulous Wednesday!

Take care,
Jina

Well it's almost time to blow this popsicle stand!

Star: hope tomorrow finds you feeling better.

Jina: Niagra Falls...that's sounds awesome. How lucky.

Trazzie: Congrats on your 3 month anniversary!

Andi: Welcome. You will love it here.

Marie: Welcome to you too. As for alcohol we all know I have NEVER given up my wine even on induction. I paid the price by losing slower but I have still lost. Just try to find an alternative. I have gotten into Thin Ice. LOVE that stuff and only 1 gram per bottle.

Theo'sgirl: I am going to "bite the bullet" and get on the scale on Friday...my regular weigh in day. I will face the music then change my signature! Damn.

fullfig: Again, how nice it is to hear from you. We will hope for good news soon!

Shimma, Brenda & Mrs. H.: Hello again

Well, have a good night all. I am off to go shopping. I wish I was down and I could do more clothes shopping but that is NOT going to happen for a couple of weeks. Damn.

Well I have had a really crappy food week! I got the Carb-Rite candy this weekend and ate most of it and had a craving for Fried Chicken and well I ate it two days and I am completely out of Ketosis. It is amazing how quickly that can happen. Got to get back OP, haven't been that bad and have not gained any back I think it has been TOM sneaking up and causing some more than normal cravings. DD started this AM so I suspect I will in the next couple of days and the cravings will depart. I am going back to ful-fledged induction after this past weekend, I will probably stay on that until I reach goal I just loose better that way. Staying under 20 carbs keeps me losing...

I slept all day today so I have some "chores" to do before going into work... Hope everyone has had and continues to have a good day.

Ok. I'm never gonna catch up here. So  to all :) The witch is still alive. I love it when she tries to suck up to me while the other boss is gone. She's such a hoot when she does that. The pumpkin recipe is now in the recipe section. I can't make it too much or I'll become addicted to that also. lol. My DH ate a piece....and then proceeded to mow another piece down. So looks like when I DO make it I'll have to make a double batch. lol. It's still dreary. I had a headache ALL day. I bought a Dt Mt Dew after work and it seems to have taken care of the headache. Weird!!! I'm also not hungry--so not sure what I'm going to do about supper. Probably a small salad. Maybe I'll be able to go w/out dessert (yah right!) lol.

My in-laws just stopped over. Seems the FIL has to have his prostate taken out. He'll find out this week when. the MIL was hesitant when she said they'd probably need help. I could kick them in the butt (no pun intended) cuz I've told them OVER and OVER that FAMILY DON'T NEED TO HESITATE TO ASK FOR HELP. That's what family is for in my mind (of course, that's not how DH's or my family works. But it's the way DH and I are). So that's the update
