I guess I'll start the thread today, although I'm suprised to see no one else has. We have 3 in. of snow outside and 22 degrees. Apr. 5th, indeed!!
It's trash pick-up day, and I cleaned out the refrigerator of nasties. I hate that job. I should just toss 'em immediately; don't know why I don't.
We live about 20 miles from any town of any size, and I need to get out to pick up some meds and find a white chocolate rabbit for grandson's basket.
Also have to get to Walmart to find some pack of cards he wants. And the roads look miserable. Oh, well. It should thaw in a while.
How is it in your neck of the woods? Jo

Good morning, Jo! (and all you other sleepyheads)
There's no snow on the ground, thank goodness, but it's 27 degrees! My primroses look fine, but the pansies in the mailbox planter look all droopy. Maybe they'll perk up as it warms up. I hope!
Well, I stepped on the scale this AM and I LOST 5 LBS since April 1!!!!! I couldn't believe it, and weighed myself 4 times to make sure I wasn't dreaming, but the scale kept registering the same thing, so it must be true! I'm so excited and hyped-up that I can hardly stand it! How did I do it? I don't know, except that I've really stuck OP, and have been drinking gallons and gallons of water. What a good start for the 8 lb. April Challenge! (I wish I could figure out how to insert the smilies, cos they'd be all over the place!)
Well DH is out of the shower and wants breakfast so we can get started with our big painting project so I have to go for now. Sorry if I seemed to be bragging, but I'm so excited that I had to share it.
Bye for now- - -

Good Morning SBers!!!!
Hope this finds EVERYONE feeling better and adjusted to our new time change. Personally it's gonna take :coffee: in the mornings either way. :coffee2: I love my coffee! I am limiting myself to 2 cups/day. :(
Thanks so much for all the congrats yesterday. I am very proud of myself. I officially weighed this morning and officially lost 7 lbs for the 1st week on Phase I !!! Even though I know some of it's fluid, I can tell in my waist that it's smaller. :cheer::cheer: Yay!!!
I tried the Taco Bake last night and it WAS YUMMY!!! Being from here in Texas we normally eat a lot of Tex Mex anyway so it was good to find something that made it seem like I could eat anything, if you know what I mean. Thanks so much for the recipe!!!
Well, I have a busy day today. Have to take my dd to counseling for depression out of town and have some patients to see too. I still don't feel real well but this morning I seem to be feeling a little better. But yesterday got worse as the day went on. I will try to do as much early as I can, in case that happens again.
Well gotta run. Remember. . . . .PLAN your day . . . EAT what you PLAN . . .and LOSE what you need. :D Have a GOOD ONE!!!!

Good morning, Jo, and sleepyheads to come. Jo, I'm 20 miles from a town too - you don't happen to live in this village, do you?
We are snowed in again but the good thing is that there are no muddy paws this morning for a change! That'll come later when this stuff melts. (Can I assume it will melt?)
Dear Harry goofed last night! He decided to run the dishwasher while I got ready for bed and used liquid dishwashing detergent, rather than the powdered stuff! I had a big square soap marshmallow when I opened the dw door! He couldn't find the powdered so used the liquid! Oh well, now part of my kitchen floor is clean.
This is usually Gail Day but she is on holidays so I am stuck with cleaning. I may just do a minor dusting today. Except for quick moppings, I've given up on the floors until the weather dries up. The floor in the back room is vinyl that looks like hardwood and collects dirt in the grooves! Very authentic but I think I'd choose a dark colour next time! That's a down on the knees with a scrub brush task!
So chickies - today is the last day of food before I prep for my colonoscopy Wednesday morning. Part of me says to go for Chinese buffet pig-out at noon today as dinner will be only soup and then the roto-rooter meds. The other part of me says to stick with SBD. Maybe I'll post a poll! :lol3:
Have a super Monday!
04-05-2004, 08:59 AM
Wow! Cottage and Sunshine snuck in on me. :bravo: Congratulations, Chickies. You are doing so well. Now I have to eat OP today as I'm feeling inspired!
04-05-2004, 09:01 AM
Good morning, Chicklets--
Penny, I was up waaay before you all. Just couldn't post b/c I was out doing a nursing home draw again.
Cottage, congrats on the loss!!! That's awesome! :cp:
Nothing exciting going on here. Hit sunshine slowdown on the way back from the lab. Yikes. Nearly blinded me. I despise DST.
I get to tell Dr. D that a blood sample I was supposed to send out to LA didn't get picked up on Friday. I called Airborne, told them I'd be closing early and I would set the package outside my front door. Saturday, I went by the lab and the package was still there, along with a note from Airborne telling me they were sorry they missed me and they would attempt to pick up the package on Monday. They had to STEP OVER the package to put the note on my door!!! AARRRGGHHH!!!! :bomb: If I could use someone other than Airborne, believe me, I would.
Well, gotta get moving. You all have a great day!
04-05-2004, 09:23 AM

Good morning chickies. It is snowing here today big white fluffy flakes that is staying..... :( Well I got on the scales this morning and I am up a pound.... I deserve it mind you with the way I have been eating. But I am back on track this morning and I am forcing myself to drink water which I dislike but I have to do it. I am also feeling strange I think it is the sugar thing.... since that is what I have lived on for the last few weeks. Well I am back on track. Well I have to go my sister just poped online and she needs to discuss the shower we had Sat night and some wedding plans. Talk to ya all later.
04-05-2004, 09:45 AM
Jo, I swear sometimes I buy vegetables just so they can sit in the refrigerator and rot.
Be careful on the roads if you drive today! :grouphug:
Cottage, congratulations on the five pounds!! :hat:
No, Sherry, we did NOT adjust well to the time change. I slept in, and am letting the children have the day off. I just have to get to my psychi appointment for 10.
Ruth, Harry is giving you enough material to write a book. :lol3:
Damn this snow!
Hugs and prayers for you for tomorrow. I hope you're feeling better today. :grouphug:
Marmacita, those people are IDIOTS!! :yikes:
Must go and bath... don't want my psychiatrist to think I have hygiene problems. He already thinks I'm nuts.
04-05-2004, 09:50 AM
Perceptive of him!
04-05-2004, 09:52 AM
Hi Jodi and Little Chick! I missed your posts! :grouphug:
04-05-2004, 09:53 AM
Very funny, Ruth.
04-05-2004, 09:56 AM
Here is a picture of me. Sorry I am bragging but I usually don't like having my picture taken but I thought that this was a good one. This was taken at my sisters shower.
04-05-2004, 09:57 AM
Hey Ellis not at the gym today, with your hunky trainer. :)
04-05-2004, 10:12 AM
Little Chick, what a beautiful picture! You look absolutely gorgeous. :)
Yes, I'm going to the gym today. It's my life.
04-05-2004, 10:17 AM
Ellis I love you. Thanks although I think gorgeous is a little strong. Cute yes.
Enjoy the gym and exercise for me too sweetie.
04-05-2004, 10:41 AM
Good Morning chickies! I am so glad to be back!
Little Chick, I think you are beautiful. Coupled with your sweet personality this does make you gorgeous. Don't allow yourself to think any differently! I can only hope to be so gorgeous some day. Maybe in about 80 pounds!
Marmacita, that is one of the funniest things I have ever heard. I think you should leave it just as it is and be home when they come again so you can point out "someone's" error, but maybe I am just mean and evil that way!
I went to a "British" pub that we always go to in Gatlinburg while I was on vacation. (Managed to drink only about a half a pint of cider) And they have a little section where they sell some imported food products and they had something called "Heinz Salad Cream". Is that like a "Miracle Whip". I had never heard of it, and I thought that Heinz was an American company, guess I was wrong!
Well, I start school today so I definatley won't have as much time to check-in like normal. So you chickies have a fantastic OP day! :grouphug:
04-05-2004, 11:03 AM
Hello Chicks!! Everyone seems to be a good mood this morning!! Myself included... :coffee: :coffee: :coffee: With Jorge being away and DST taking over, I didn't get to sleep until about 2 am last night, and woke up at 6am to a message from my mother that she was stuck in rush hour traffic on her way home from Worchester, Mass. :dizzy:
I got SO MUCH done this weekend, including, save for a small serving of french fries, staying OP!! Doesn't it seem strange that the first weekend I'm able to stay OP is the weekend Jorge is away? I cleaned and cleaned and did some more cleaning. I'm mourning the lack of my beloved, so I had to busy myself as much as possible, I guess!
Off to fix my boss. For someone as brilliant as she is, she's such an airhead. :bubbles: I love her, but man is she scattered!! So, I have to fix everything, as usual....
I am so proud of all the losing going on here!! I, myself, am down another 3 pounds! :yikes: I don't know how it's possible, since I've only been OP since about Friday!
Everyone have a GREAT day and stay warm! 32 degrees here in the nation's capital. That's just rediculous if you ask me... Cherry blossom in full bloom and I'm wearing a winter coat....
04-05-2004, 11:47 AM
Hey all! DH and I had a great weekend in Nashville celebrating his award! Had some off p meals. I did have Salmon Fri. night which was pretty good along with some black angus beef. I skipped the bread but fell into the dessert! DH took me to my favorite Mexican rest. on Sat. which was off p as well. But I'm back on today! The hermitage Hotel well let's just say now I know how the rich peeps live! Everything was top of the line. I did sample the cookies that they left when they came in and turned down our covers for us! It was very very nice and is one of those moments in life you just need to stop and enjoy! I'm so far behind on all the post and newbies that have joined us. Between goin out of town my Mom being here I have been behind. Hopefully after Easter I can get back to reading all the daily posts. We are leaving Thursday to go to my Mom's for Easter. Going to Birmingham the following weekend to see the womens soccer team. For once I am looking forward to a weekend at home! And I wonder why my van has 23,000 miles in less than a year! Ok gotta get moving. I go for my first visit to the pain clinic today about my knee. Not real sure what it is or what they do there but hopefully they can help. I'll try to check in on y'all chicks later if I can get the puter. I usually let my Mom have it when she is here. Especially since she watched my lil darlings for us over the w-end! Let's all have an OP day gals!
04-05-2004, 11:54 AM
Cherry blossoms????? OMG! That takes me back to my first honeymoon in April 1960. No cherry blossoms here today, just cold and drifting white stuff and a windchill factor of -19C/-3F! I drove Hersh to treadmill and just wore my garden clogs! Dumb as a post, I am!
Got a delightful call from the hospital re my colonoscopy on Wednesday. I need to be there for 7:15 AM which means leaving here at 6:15 which means my BIL will have to leave at 5:45 to pick me up! Sheesh! My family may divorce me over this one!
I'll be so glad to have this whole thing done with! Now I need to decide what to eat for my last proper meal - Chinese is not an option as I sure don't want to drive on drifted roads just for an eggroll!
Just ignore me - OK?
04-05-2004, 11:59 AM
Hey Ruth, I would! Especially since they're just gonna suck it back out for ya!
04-05-2004, 12:01 PM
Oh Ruth we could never ignore you! We love to hear you (ramble) talk! Yes the last meal before the cleanout. Man I would make it good! Most of the cherry blossoms have already fallen off here. It is chilly here today. No where near your temps but to me it is cold. It's 46 with a high of 65 today. My futon is still open!
04-05-2004, 12:50 PM
And it really is a good one! I can't believe this AM. After looking at a one pound gain over the past two days (which I knew was water since I have been OP so I didn't panic), today I lost that pound and another to bring me to a 9 lb total loss since starting on March 8, 2004. :goodscale:
Ellis-- I think it was the exercise. On Saturday I went to the gym for one reason: because I committed to everyone here that I would go. I was only able to do about 10 minutes on the lifecycle, but it was something. On Sunday I didn't go to the gym, but what normally happens is that our two day laborers come to help with our landscaping. My partner had a migrane and suddenly I was the one who had to work with them (she usually does it). So, there I was helping to unload 2 tons (really, they weigh it!) of broken up concrete at the dump. I just can't stand to sit there and watch someone else work. Yes, the guy did most of the heavier work, but for me just tossing the smaller pieces off the truck was plenty of exercise.
And, as an added bonus, I found 20 beautiful square paving bricks that someone had just dumped there in the concerte pile. Loaded up all them puppies myself! Helps the pain of knowing that I just paid $50 to dump my old concrete which they will grind up and sell to someone else!
Ruth--Hey, we can't ignore you. This is an unpleasant and stressful time and you are entitled! One of our passover seder guests is doing a prep for a hysterectomy that day so she will be eating jello while we are having this huge meal... I admire her resolve, I would have just said "no" to an invite under similar circumstances.
Little Chick--That is a nice photo. Thanks for sharing it.
Congrats to all the losers out there! It is sure motivating. :bravo:
If you are craving Mexican food, I am going to go post something heavenly  on the SBD recipes board . . .

Hello Everyone! Took a little vacation from the Beach.....sorry....
DH wants to lose about 40 pounds so we are both going to start Beaching it together.
Wish us luck.
04-05-2004, 04:27 PM
Hi all! Today is my first offical day on the beach- finally got enough money to buy proper groceries! ie- not top ramen, or mac n' cheese hummm, getting a good idea about how I got to this point. Having a few craving, mostly for soda though. DST is not really helping matters but, I'll get over it. Funny thing, last night we went to the store to stock up and I was reading labels and taking forever I think we finally got out of there around 9 pm, anyways my sweetie started to pick up all of his usuals and read the labels as well and asked what in the **** I was looking at?!?!? He had not a clue. Then after I explained the whole south beach thing the 6'0 170 lb man-child had the guts to ask if he was getting chunky as he was grabing at his flat tummy. So, then we went home and made dinner and I started packing lunches for today and when I was done he went back through it...which he never does and he decided to replace his usual coke with a diet one, thinking this would balance out all of the other nutritional blackholes that he likes in his lunch! I have a long journy ahead of me chickies, at least I will have a few laughs to get me through it!
