Ahh, Saturday! And this after only working a 3 day week. It will take a bit for me to adjust to the daily grind again. I had a very good week in terms of what I ate. I realize now how much I was mistaking boredom with hunger on many days at home. Duh.
Dianne,
How wonderful that you've raised that much in pledges!! All that support will be the wind behind your back the day of the walk, helping you all the way.
Have fun at the shower. It's nice that you kept up contact with the ex's.....shows they value their relationship with you.
Es,
Keeping off your feet is probably the best thing to do. You know you'll resume exercising once this is over with. It must be difficult to not know what's causing the swelling. The water pills really took out a lot!
In spite of the fact that it's sunny and upper 50's today, I'm going to stay home with my foot elevated. It's been wrapped fairly tightly and I can tell it's a bit swollen from being on it more this week. Tuesday is P-day, the pin comes out! :crossed: and I'll graduate to gym shoes for an unknown length of time. I absolutely cannot wait to walk again, even for short bits; I'm hoping my dr. says ok....even a walk to the corner would be heaven.
 HI to Terri, Sandy,Donna, Ruth, Zoe, Linda !
later,

p.s.......don't forget to turn your clocks ahead tonight!

"Mi Amiga, $745!! :cheer: How cool is that! This walk means a lot to me. If I wasn't feeling like a balloon I would have participated. You go girl. I have a bridal shower for next Saturday. The wedding is in August. The hottest month of the year which means bad hair day. I HATE AUGUST!!!! I have to go. Pete's already saying we can't afford it. I know we can't but I have to find a way. I ignore him cause he always says that.
I have a nail appt. so I have to get ready.
Be back later.

Good Morning and "thanks" for the warm welcome! I really appreciate it! I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you!
Well I need to make this quick. I teach Religion (CCD) Saturday mornings and we're getting ready for Baptisims, First Communions, etc. and that means BUSY!!! :) So this is a quick "Hi" to everyone!
Enjoy your day everyone whatever it is you do and I'll catch up with you all later.
Es - you and I are neighbors, well almost. I'm in the Bronx.
Jen - dare I ask what happened to your foot? Hope you're on the mend!
Dianne - Congratulations on the $$ you've been raising! Nice job!!!

Linda, I was born & raised in the Bronx. I've been out here for 25 years. I have family that are still in the Bronx. Let me see I was born in Brook Ave, then moved to Baychester area. When I got married went up to Fordham Rd. Moved to LI in 1980. My parents bought a house out here so I decided it was best for my son. Better schools.
I don't know what's up with this monitor. It's fairly new & it's acting up again. I have maintenance on it. If it keeps blinking I'm taking it back!
My ankles are really swollen. I have them up on a chair right now. I did some shopping & cleaning & now they're really puffy! I'm going to research swollen ankles sometimes it's depressing reading what it could be. I better not. This monitor is getting on my nerves anyway.
Later buds. Let me go watch a movie.
Love you's (Bronx talk)

Linda, I hesitate to introduce myself and all because the last time I did that person never posted again. :( I'm not from NY but my dh was raised about 20 minutes or so from NY City. He was raised in Bloomfield New Jersey. We have been married for 18 1/2 years and we have a nine year old daughter named Elena. My name is Donna and I have been on maintenance with Weight Watchers Online now after losing 30 pounds. I have found that maintaning is just as hard as the process to get there but Weight Watchers is a lifetime plan and it works for me so that is why I have stuck with it. Can't become a lifetime member though unless I attend meetings which I thought was awful but like I said the plan works and I will do what I have to do to keep it up. If that means still paying a monthly fee for the e-tools I will. LOL I look forward in getting to know you better along with these fine women here.
Es, I wish you could find out what's going on. Have they tested your kidneys? I am very concerned about you. Yes, take back that monitor!! You don't need another aggravation!
Dianne, I hope you have a good break with Alana! I know you will.
Jen, thanks for keeping up with the thread and thinking of copying the last entry by Es for us to read. You are the best thread keeper! :)
Terri, what's up? I hope you are ok. Haven't heard from you in a few.
Sandy, hello! Big plans for the weekend?
Each day my arm is feeling better but every now and then it really aches. I then am reminded I'm still recouperating. LOL
Linda, I recently had tennis elbow release surgery on my right elbow. In case you were wondering. :lol3:
 to Ruth and the rest
Have a good weekend!

Es - Boy were we ever neighbors! I grew up in Parkchester back when Metropolitan Life owned the complex. Married DH and moved into a bigger apartment with air conditioning!! Been here now almost 20 something years! Parkchester was HOT and the new "owners" Dear Harry and Leona wouldn't go for the $$ necessary to upgrade. Anyway I'm off 161st in Concourse Village which is a wonderful community. PM me if you want more "neighborhood gossip" :) :)
I'm really sorry you're having such a time with your ankles. Do the Dr.s have any clue????
Donna - thanks for the intro., and no....I will not stop posting! I had to chuckle when I read your note to me!
Well I need to run...with this time change I'm late for my date with dh in Pathmarks!! :) Went to church lastnight so my Sunday is freeeeeeee!!!!!!!! :dancer:

Hi Girls:wave:
Linda, I was on 187th Grand Concourse. Remember Alexander's? I hate saying it but remembering it makes me feel old. My husband is from Brooklyn, East NY. No the Drs. don't know. I've been tested for kidney problem, lupus, thyroid, heart w/stress test & 2 EKG's & other things. The next appt. is this Wed. with the Vascular specialist. My butt hasn't been to church in a while :nono: Pete(hubby) has been getting on my case about it. He goes without me. It's just that where I go our worship service is about 45 minutes, which is very moving & beautiful but almost everybody stands. The ones that sit are the old ladies! That would really make me feel great. I have to go for Easter. I have to buy an outfit. I hate shopping but Pete loves it.
Donna, how are you my friend?;) I've had tennis elbow for 2 yrs. now. I just don't want to go through another surgery. A few years ago I had rotator cuff surgery & it was so painful. Hang in there. Each day gets better. Pete said my ankles look normal this morning. I still see some swelling but not much. I'm taking one day at a time. I don't feel sick. It's just these stupid ankles of mine. We'll see what this other specialist has to say. You know I'll keep you posted.
Other than the water loss I haven't lost anything. :( I asked WW to put me on hold. They were nice about it. I have to find out what's going on first before I get on the scale.
Well ladies, let me go read the Sunday paper.
Hasta luego amigas:grouphug:

Hi everyone,
It feels so late already now that I changed the clocks back. Today will be a short day.
Linda,
I had unknowingly fractured a metatarsal bone in my foot; it mended incorrectly and affected a toe. I had surgery on Feb. 20, which resulted in a pin permanently in my foot and another temporary one sticking out of my toe. It's been 6 weeks of wearing a robo-cop type boot, but I'm in the final home stretch. The pin will be pulled out (I don't even want to think about that  ) on Tuesday, if further xrays show everything's ok. Gee....aren't you glad you asked?
Es,
So you kept off your feet and the swelling is down? It sounds as though you need a few days of sitting with your feet up. You've been in my thoughts....I sincerely hope they can find the cause. Not knowing is worse than anything. Keep your chin up. :grouphug:
Donna,
Glad to hear your elbow is getting there. You said it so well about being reminded you're recuperating. I don't think I've ever asked..do you play tennis? Or was it a specific motion that caused it?
Terri,
How's the family? I'll bet the kids are happy that the school year is winding down. April already! And Britts is graduating! whoo eee Do you have plans to travel again this summer? Is Colorado in the works?
Dianne,
I would imagine you're out walking, getting ready for the AIDS walk. What a great job of fundraising you've done :cp: I'm proud of you.
Sandy,
Hope things are improving. You've all been in my prayers.
I think it's great that Es, Dianne, and now Linda are all so close, geographically. Sounds like a fun lunch date!
Am attaching a pic. of my "ball and chain" boot, just for laughs.

:yikes: Jen! I just saw that picture of your foot! You poor thing!
Donna - stupid question but do you play tennis? If not how does one get tennis elbow?
Es - Mi amiga!! Of course I remember Alexanders!! Then it was Caldors, then it was empty for a very long time which really hurt the neighborhood. Just recently a bunch of merchants took over the whole building and it's fantastic! Stores galore and money coming back into the Fordham area. My MIL still lives on Creston and 183rd St. I'd love for her to get out of there and come either closer to me or in my neighborhood. But she took over the apt. that her parents had and the building is still rent controlled I think and that's good for her. She's retired and on a fixed income. But she's a great lady; I'm lucky.
Well, I've gone grocery shopping, cleaned the kitchen, bathroom, living room and my bedroom. Pulled DS out of his room and off the computer  and told him to move his butt and help his poor ole Mother! He's a good kid...more about him another time.
So now it time for me, the paper and a cup of coffee! :coffee:

Karen,
Hi, I am Terri . Congrats on the 25# loss. I am a lifetimer. I reached lifetime in 85' and I came back in 2000 and lost 60# and so far I am keeping it off. I am 45 and have been married for 21 yrs. and I have 3 kids. They are Brittany, (17) Brandon (12) and Bradley (11). My husband's name is Bruce. We have Tanner too. He is our baby. 3 yr. old mixed breed.
It is great to have another friend.
Dianne,
I saw the link in my e-mail. Thanks. Good luck!!!!
I got a Bravo sticker and applause at my meeting.

Linda!!!! I lived on Creston Avenue behind the Loews Theatre!!! Wow. How is the neighborhood? I remember getting plenty of exercise cause I lived on the 5th floor & there were no elevators! This brings back so many memories. I used to walk to the park I think it was called KingsBridge Park. I do remember looking out the fire escape & thinking I didn't want to raise my son in that neighborhood. He turned out to be a great kid. He's 33 now. A decent young man. I'm so proud of him. This is my second marriage. I had him when I was 17. My first husband was abusive so we divorced then I met Pete out here. Pete pretty much raised him. He was 9 when Pete & I got together. We got married right away. I knew he was a good man & treated my son like his own. He calls Pete his father. He never says my step dad or vice versa. They're tight. Terri by the way, is like the leader of the group. She's always been my mentor.
Terri, you've done so well. You've really worked hard at this. You deserve an applause:cp: :cp: :cp: :encore: How's my girl Brittany? Tell her I said hi:wave:
Jen, you poor thing. That sure is a BIG shoe. I've seen them before. Points Lady had surgery some years back & she had to wear one. The day is flying. My ankles aren't that bad today but you're right & so is Pete. If I can stay off my feet a couple of days the swelling will go down. They're nothing like they were last week.
Zoe, Ruth, Sandy, Donna
Hugs to all!
PS It would be nice if Dianne, Linda & me can get together one of these days.

Hi guys:
Yes, Jen you're right - I was out walking - trying to get my mileage up. And I did - I went from 3 miles to 4.2 miles - it took about 1 hr. and 25 mins. I thought I was gonna have to stop cause it started to rain, but then it stopped after a few mins and I was able to continue. I think I have enough time before the AIDS walk to work my way up to 6 miles. I have now passed my $750 goal and raised it to $1,000. Thanks so much for your support and you too Es, mi amiga and Terri! I really appreciate it.
Oh and Jen, I read the part about the pin and guess what happened - yep - my butt cheeks crunched   You poor thing, I hope you're able to get it out on Tuesday!
Donna - You are too funny about the last time you introduced yourself, the person never came back  I cracked up when I read that :p Elbow doing better? Hope so.
Linda - I live in NY too - I'm in Queens - a couple of boroughs away from you. It would be so cool if you, me and Es could get together. By the way, Linda, are you latina? I ask because Es and I always refer to each other as "mi amiga" and I noticed you did too. I'm Irish and Puerto Rican - some combo, huh? :D
Es, mi amiga - How are you feeling? You really need to take a few days and relax and be off your feet- that would help the swelling alot. How are things at the office? Any better? Take care of you!
Well, yesterday I went to a bridal shower and there were not one, but two strippers :o Alana was hysterical because at one point one of these guys came towards me and I ran like ****, I almost knocked the gifts down and stepped on two people to get away from him :yikes: I can't stand when they come near me, lol - with their little thongs and their butts sticking out - yuk  But we had a good time, anyway.
Terri - Congrats on maintaining during your vacation - :bravo: great job! Its so cool to be recognized for a job well done too!
Okay, well, time to shower before the Sopranos. I'll talk to you's tomorrow - everyone enjoy the rest of their night!

It's is so cold here in NYC today you would never know Spring is here! :dizzy:
Dianne - I work in Queens! College Point to be exact. My boss rented for many years in Forest Hills, and 2 years ago bought a building in a new commerical development. I am not latina. I'm a mut :) Mom was French and American Indian and Dad was English and German. BUT I am married to a wonderful latino. My husband is Puerto Rican. We've been married, oh gosh let's see, 26 years??? I understand way more than what I speak, but I know many "phrases". Where are you in Queens?
Es - Sadly the neighborhood is not very good. The Lowes, that's the one on the Concourse? If it is, unfortunately it's abandoned. There were rummors awhile back that someone was going to renovate the place and put something there. My MIL lives in a building with an elevator but the thing hardly works! She's on the 3rd floor which isn't too bad except when you have packages! :(
Terri - Congratulations on that fantastic loss. And for keeping it off! That's the real hard part!! Good for you! :cp:
Well I hope everyone has a good day. Hi to Donna, Jen and anyone else I may have missed! Talk to you all later... :balloons:

Great walking. You will be ready in no time. Congrats on the donations exceeding your goal. Fantastic.
As far as what nationality we all are I am full blooded Italian. Bruce is also a mutt. He has everything in him.
Linda,
Thanks for the congrats. My wish is to visit New York. Bruce said that will be the first place we visit when we plan to go somewhere. If I do I'd love to see if anyone could come into the city and we could meet. That'd be cool.
Es,
What a great tribute to Pete. That is a special father.
David is lucky. But then so is Pete. ;) Brittany is doing great and is getting ready for graduation. Got to send her announcements soon. There are still 2 birthdays between now and graduation. It will be busy!!!! :dizzy:

Hi Girls:wave:
Linda, I'm PR/Cuban. I grew up in a household that spoke mostly english so my spanish isn't that great. Unfortunately, I didn't teach my son. :( I regret it now & I remember when he was little my Mom used to tell me that I should speak to him in spanish. He's trying to learn. He knows a few words & understands very little. Pete on the other hand is very fluent. It helps me at my workplace. They use me a lot for translation but I can't read or write it. :^:
Terri, I would go but Pete would have to take me in. I hate driving in the city. Too many maniacs. I can't believe Brit is graduating already. Whose birthdays?
Like Linda said, it's so cold today. I like the cold weather so I can't complain.
Let me go. Sammy's acting up. I think he's trying to get my attention.
Linda, Sammy is my Pug, my baby.

Es - mi amiga, how are you doing? How's the swelling and how's the job?
Hope things are getting better.
Linda - I'm from Howard Beach, Queens. I bowl in Woodhaven with a person who also works in College Point. Small world :smug: When I got married to my first husband, I was the same - understood more than I could speak the language and his mom used to laugh at certain things I would say. Also, it didn't help that I was raised by my Irish nana who didn't speak a word of spanish. But, most of my friends were spanish and my second husband is as well, so eventually your absorb the language. Now I can read and write it.

Terri, one of my co-workers birthday is March 27th. She's a really nice lady. David is March 2. You really have alot going on in March:eek: May 18th is my nephew's birthday. You have to take pictures of Brittany & let us see her on her special day. She's going to look so pretty. I've been thinking of Zoe too. I don't think she's ever stayed away this long.
Amiga, the stupid ankles are still swollen but not as bad as last week. When I first wake up in the morning they almost look normal but by the evening they're all puffed up again. The she-devil manager has been quiet this week so it's been less stressful. I think she's been leaving me alone cause she knows about my so called "condition". I don't even know what to call it. I see the specialist tomorrow. My sister, the nurse, doesn't like the specialist. He works in the same hospital she does. Then again, she doesn't like anybody so I don't pay attention to her. How's that walking going? I am so proud of you. You are going all out for such a good cause. You Go Girl! :)

Hi everyone,
The pin is out! :cb: :jig:  I was so worried about it, and just when I said to Joe, "come here and hold my hand" (yes, I'm a chicken), the dr. laughed and held it up, he had already pulled it out. I didn't feel a thing.
I graduated to gym shoes; over the next 8 eight weeks I'm to increase my daily activity as tolerable. I'm going to focus on walking to the corner, then around the block, before I even consider the treadmill. It's still tender, in dire need of good skin care  I'm so happy to be rid of that boot!
Donna,
You're already gone, but hope you have a great time.
Es,
Good luck at the specialist today; let us know, ok? I don't pay attention any longer to other people's opinions when it comes to drs. Everyone has different agendas.
Linda,
Enjoy your day off, and the movie.
Terri,
If you ever go to New Orleans, I'll join you ;) I love love love it. Joe says we can't go there any time in the future, as we've been there 3 times and there's alot more places we haven't gone to
Have to go, just wanted to say hi and catch up.

Hey guys:
I did it - I just reached my AIDS Walk goal of $1,000!!! :cloud9: I'm so excited! And there are still a few people who have said they'll be sending their donations shortly.
Jen - Congrats on the pin coming out - how cool! I know you can't wait to be walking here, there and everywhere - but don't rush it - take it easy! And how is the job going?
Es, amiga- glad to hear the she  office manager is leaving you alone - otherwise we might all have to go pay her a visit ;) Whoa! I better stop watching "The Sopranos" :p The walking is going good - I'm up to 4.2 miles.
Linda - have fun with your son at the movies. How old is he? You probably mentioned that in your first post, but I'm having a "senior" moment  Have a great day off!
Donna - Hope you're having fun and winning lots of dough!
Terri - Can't wait to see pictures of Britts - she has her prom this year right?
Sandy - How are you doing? How is Greg? I hope things are getting better for you and the family.
Ruthie - WHERE ARE U? Come in and say hi - and how are those beautiful grandchildren of yours?
"The Jessa" and her two sisters stayed over last night and we had a ball. She is amazing - I can't believe she's only gonna be 3 next month! At one point last night she said to me "you have aunty Alana's talk" - which I then translated to mean that Alana and I have the same voice which is something we've been told by grown-ups many times, but never by a 2 year old - she's so perceptive. And gorgeous! Am I prejudice or what :D My step-daughter Lisa said the house is so quiet and asked if we wanted to keep them again, :dizzy: Fine with us!
Well, let me get back to work. I hope you all have a great day.

I hope so; I miss all my little faces! :) Oh I know some of the symbols so that's how I'm doing them now.
Jen - - so glad to hear the pin came out without any problems. I'm such a baby....I don't know what on earth I'm going to do when I have to go for my hip surgery.
Dianne - Congrats on raising all that money!! You should be EXCITED girl!
Es - I too have the "boss from ****" who stresses me out to no end. Hang in there. Please let us know what the dr. says, ok?

I'll be seeing her at the bridal shower but she'll be sitting at another table. :D I knew you would reach $1000. If not I would have had to write to J Lo's Mom to contribute. You heard about her winning the jackpot? The Jessa is so cute. These kids are so smart these days. Me & my sister sound the same.(alcoholic)
Linda, this week I start working 4 days. My day off will be Fridays.
Well, today the specialist checked out my legs & he said there's definitely water in there & the tingle in my hand is carpal tunnel. Turning 50 is turning out to be a nightmare.:yikes: Since the technician is only there on Thursdays I have to go back tomorrow for a sonogram then next Wed. we discuss the results. He asked me if I've gained weight & I told him yes. I've gained 10 lbs.:sumo: since August so he wants me to lose 10 lbs. He said sometimes weight gain can do this to some women. Especially short women. One of his assistants looked familiar & she said I looked familiar too. We remembered where we've seen eachother. Curves. She lost 24 lbs. since last year & we're the same age so that motivatated me. So back to WW meetings & back to Curves. I had them (WW) put me on hold. I wanted to wait till I got rid ofall this water but I have to do what Doc says.
Jen, I know you must be on cloudnine :cp: Take it slow OK?
Oh, BTW, I was taller than the Dr.
Have a nice evening my friends. ;)
Love,
Es

Well the "technical" difficulties are in our browser (Explorer) and until DH can figure out what to do, I have to use Netscape which I don't like! :( But it's not that big of a deal to me. As long as I have access to the puter :comp: I'm happy!
Es - you'd be surprised what 10 pounds more on a body can do. That's why I had to get this butt back into gear and get moving again. With my arthritis I can't afford to put weight back on. So you do what the Dr. says! :)
Dianne - DS is 14. I don't know if I mentioned his age or not. But I have lots of those "senior moments" lately!!
Well ladies I have to run; busy, busy this morning!! :stars: I'll catch up with you all later!!

Es,
My mom has that trouyble with her ankles. All during Christmas they were swollen. She can't eat salty foods. Does it to her every time. I hope the water goes and stays away. Good luck. That 10 pounds will be gone before you know it.
I heard about J. Lo's mom. Wish it was my MIL. She goes there all the time.
Actually all 3 of my kids have birthdays Mar.4th, April 17th and May 5th. Then there is my b-day, My FIL's and nephew's in there between. And this year is grad. I will fall down and die when the last guests leave.
Dianne,
Congrats on the money. Great!
Too funny about the Sopranoes.
Britts was asked twice to the prom but doesn't want to go. There will be close to 2000 kids there and she hates crowds like that. I am not pressing her since she is doing what makes her happy. As long as she isn't sad. We'll see.
Jessa sounds adorable.
Jen,
I am so glad the pin came out with no problems. :D
Linda,
My kids want to see that. Glad you enjoyed it.
Well, I am off to buy the candy for the Easter baskets. They will never be to old for baskets.

Hi Girls:wave:
I went for the sonogram today. The guy was too cute. I hate when I get cute guys. We talked alot about different things. I wanted to distract myself. I felt sort of embarrassed. He had to go up to my groin then all the way down to a little below my calfs. He said there were no blood clots. I go next Wed. for the results.
Awwww Terri, what a Mom :) I buy David a choc.bunny & he's 33 yrs. old. I can't do that this year cause his cholesterol was a little high. I have to think of something else.
Linda, I love AOL. I hope you get the problem fixed soon. I'm glad you're able to post. You're one of us now. We're not letting you go.
Let me go. I'm a little tired today. Maybe I'll watch my soaps. I haven't watched them all week.
Have a nice evening.

Hi Everyone,
I hope the worst is over for now. Greg has been expelled from his high school as they have a zero-tolerance policy for even being in the presence of someone using drugs on the premises. Greg admitted that he had been smoking and so they have excluded him from the school until next fall when he can be readmitted with an appeal and good behavior. The police were informed, but thank goodness we do not have to go to court. We had been researching everything possible to help him, including talking to his therapist, lawyers, and the state department of education. The school administration felt that they had to apply the policy and still expel him. Several of his teachers called the principal to try to get him to reconsider, but to no avail.
What they did do though is to admit him to an alternative program with night school and work study during the day. He will lose a lot of his class standing, and German and Physics credits for this year. But if he can handle this program he will still graduate next year with his class. I can only hope. He leaves me very uncertain because of the depression, but I think it is beginning to lift. He will at least be able to see the therapist more often now. I know Greg likes him, all I want to know is that we are doing the right things to get him back to the healthy kid I remember.
I just wanted to update you all, thanks for keeping us in your thoughts. I will get back into everyone else's business really soon. I am just trying to pull myself up by my bootstraps, and I think things are starting to look a little better.
Hugs to all,
Sandy

Sandy, it's so thoughtful of you to keep us up to date on what's happening with Greg. I've been very concerned about him. I can see he's trying which is a positive thing. He has 2 parents who love him very much. He will realize that when he gets older. I will keep him in my prayers. You take care of YOURSELF. I know this has stressful for you. I've experienced what stress can do. Please stop in once in a while. You know we are all here for you. :grouphug:
Terri, Brittany is a very sensible young lady. If she doesn't want to go to the prom I'm glad you're not trying to talk her into it. I can't blame her. I hate crowds too. She might change her mind. Like you said, whatever makes her happy. ;)
Linda, I keep losing water. Since the last 2 weeks I've already lost 12 lbs. My primary physician, who has known me for 20 yrs., didn't tell me I had to lose weight. She knew it was water. The 2 specialists didn't know me from adam. They just met me for the first time so they thought this was my actual weight. They are going to be very surprised the next time they put me on their scale. :goodscale I'm not saying I don't want to lose weight because I know for my height I am too heavy. I'm only 5'2". I enjoy exercising so once I can start doing that again, I'll start losing again. After I get the results on Wed. I'll find out if I can get back to my regular routine. I can't wait to back to Curves. :cb: Do you exercise?
What is everybody doing for Easter? It's supposed to rain.
We're going to church then back home. Maybe we'll rent some movies.
I'll be back tonight.
Have a nice day:grouphug:

Happy Friday!! I'd be even happier if I were home and not here! But what can you do???
Es - I "like" to exercise. Unfortunately I have arthritis in both hips. And I have very limited movement in the left and the right isn't as bad, but I have flare up's more often than I like to think of. So I try to do upper body stuff on the Total Gym and walk. So far I don't have problems walking. I can't walk and walk and walk like I use to do without stopping. My problems are different, but it's a long story. But thank God I can still get around very well. I'm suppose to have a replacement this August and I am not looking forward to that.  People say "why August" and I tell them that in July "I'm going to Walt Disney World" :cb:
Terri - you're like me. I still get DS a chocolate bunny. He's 14 and while I think he's too old for a "basket" I'll hide little things around the house and he loves to find them. Sure...I hide a few $1 bills!! :) The kid is a shark!! At times he has more money than me!!
Sandy - I'm Linda. In your absence I found this great bunch of ladies. I read what's been happening in your life and my heart goes out to you and your family. I have a teen boy, he's 14 and it's so very hard today to raise children today. I'll keep you and the family in my prayers and hope that everything works out for you.
Well I'll be busy this weekend. I'm having Easter Dinner at my house and there's going to be 7 for dinner. I'm really looking forward to it. I enjoy cooking.
I should be able to pop in occasionally to say "Hi". But just incase I can't....
A Happy and Blessed Easter to all of my newly found buddies!! :grouphug:

Linda, you are going to be busy. It's just going to be Pete(hubby), David & me. I have a turkey breast so I'm going to make that with some yellow rice with little pieces of ham & salad. I'm baking a cake. I hate to do this to myself cause cake, cookies, & ice cream have always been my weakness but David loves home made cake. He's still my baby & he loves his Mom's food. I feel like I have so much to do & not enough time. I'm going to a bridal shower tomorrow. It starts at 12:00 PM. I hope it's not too many hours. I have to buy a nice blouse for Easter. I have a brand new skirt that I haven't had a chance to wear so I can wear it to church.
It's pretty quiet around here. I know everybody is busy. I'll be back tomorrow to let you all know how the shower went.

Sandy,
It sounds as though you, as parents, are doing everything possible to help Greg. I hope it all works out. Good luck and please let us know. You are in my prayers. Have a good Easter, and remember, we're here for you.
Es,
Not seeing any clots is a good thing. When it comes to bosses, and medical personnel, it seems to me, they're ALL younger  You've lost alot of water! It would be so cool to consider that a loss, but you're smarter than that... and know you wouldn't be being fair to yourself :judge: Hope you enjoy your meal, and David his cake!
Linda,
It sounds as though you fit right in! It's so cool to have someone join and there's no awkward stage. Just to clue you in....I'm from Chicago originally, now in a burb. Married to Joe for 32 years, daughter is 30, son is 25, two grandsons  ,Brandon, who is 8 and Matt, who is 3. I've been on and off WW for 15 years...but I'll never give up! Need to lose 75 lbs. and I'll be content with that. Just began a new job...customer service rep/cashier/switchboard for a town of 65,000 people, two weeks ago. I worked retail for 24 years, from part time clerk to management. I'm loving the new position.
We're going to church with Joey and Iliana on Sunday, then we'll return home to make dinner, and have Jess and Mike, with the boys over for dinner. Joey and Iliana will be going to her brothers'. I'm looking forward to seeing the boys.
have a good weekend!

:sunny: :sunny: :sunny: What a beautiful morning here in "Da Bronx" :dizzy:
Es - I'm going to be a little busy but not too much. First we hit Arthur Avenue for some "goodies". I want to make a nice antipasto to begin. Then my MIL is bringing the aroz con gandules :hungry: and I'll have baked glazed ham, macaroni and cheese (low fat of course) roasted potatoes for those who perfer spuds, veggies and dessert. The dessert is a homemade Dominician Cake. I absolutely love that cake!!
 But it's really a simple meal and I like to cook. I hope you have a good time at the shower!!!
Jen - I absolutely love this place and everyone here! I do feel right at home and a big :thanks: to everyone who made me feel so very welcomed!! Where in the "burbs" of Chicago? I had friends that lived in the Shomburg (spelling) area. Isn't it great when you like what you do for a living?? Too bad my boss is such a  . I think Es and I have the bosses from ****!!
Well I need to get going. I want to hit the market before it get's late. An Italian neighborhood on the Saturday before Easter gets very, very, very busy. I'll check back in later on this afternoon. Hi to everyone!!!

Hi guys:
Sandy - You and your husband are doing everything possible to help Greg and I'm sure he appreciates it. I feel bad for him, because even though he shouldn't have been doing what he was doing, I don't think he should have gotten expelled for it - I would think a suspension would have been more appropriate. It just seems like the school went a bit overboard to me. Anyway, I hope things get better and we're always here for you. :grouphug:
Es - Glad to hear you didn't have any clots, that's really great. I can't wait until they find out what the heck it is though - I'd be going bonkers :dizzy: Enjoy your dinner with Pete and David :smug:
Linda - How funny - "Arthur Ave" was on tv last night - they named a certain place (can't remember) where you could get all kinds of great meats and breads, etc. Sounded yummy! Do you live near there? I know nothing about the bronx, except Yankee stadium ;)
Es - Enjoy your dinner with your family.
Terri - You too!
We are going to church with Lisa and family, Darren and family, step-son willie and girlfriend, etc. Then we'll all go back to Lisa's for an early dinner. We are having pernil (roast pork), arroz con gandules, pasteles, my "famous" chicken cutlets (by overwhelming request  ), lasagna, ham, potatoe salad, regular salad and all kinds of desserts. Everyone is making something and also bringing some soda, chip, dip, etc. It should be a lot of fun. There's so many grandchildren that Alana came up with the idea of me putting together one huge basket with bunnies, jelly beans, kisses, hersheys miniatures, etc. for all of them, instead of separate candies for each. It looks so pretty with all the colorful candies.
Well I walked yesterday and brought my mileage up to 5.2 miles and did another 5 miles today, so I'm getting there. It was such a beautiful day in the park and they had an easter egg hunt for the kids - so cool seeing the huge baseball field filled with colorful easter eggs. It was fun to watch the kids go crazy when they set them loose on the field
Okay, let me go to the butcher, last minute as usual :o to get the cutlets, etc.
I wish everyone a blessed Easter with their families and friends.
Ruthie, ZoeGirl and Janie - Happy Easter guys!

HAPPY EASTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sandy,
I am so glad that things are looking up. I think of you and Greg often. Things will work out. I see he is well liked because teachers won't do that if he wasn't a good kid. Probably just the wrong crowd.
He will be in my thoughts.
Es,
I am sooooo glad there are no clots. :D Great loss with all the water. Bet you feel better.
Hope you enjoyed the shower. That is so cool. David is a lucky son. Hope he enjoys his goodies.
Dianne,
Congrats on the walk. Great mileage. WoooHooo!
The basket sounds so cute. Enjoy your day.
Linda,
Sounds like a great time. Enjoy your dinner.
We hide the baskets. I don't know if I can quit the baskets. My youngest is 11. Britts still wants hers hidden. I hide the Easter baskets and didn't know that everyone didn't hide their baskets. I found out about 5 years ago that people normally don't hide the baskets. My grandma hid my mom's and my mom hid ours and we all thought it was normal. My mom and sister were shocked that noone else did this.
Jen,
Enjoy those boys tomorrow. We are going to church at 11:15 and then out to dinner. Probably to an Easter Buffet. I love those. I have a skirt that is so springy. It is about 6 yrs. old but I love it.
I lost 1 pound this week. We took a 3 mile walk today. It was
beautiful. I got a triple chocolate utopia sundae after the walk and gave
half to Tanner. I ate the chocolate part cause it's bad for him. ;) The
whole thing is 8 points so I ate about 4 or 5 points. I had 12 left for the
day so I am good. Saturday is my day to have something I normally wouldn't
have.
Luv y'all,
Terri

Hi All, Happy Easter!
Thank you again for all your concern, it means a lot to me to be able to vent here and to know I have your support.
David, my older son came home from college for Easter yesterday. He took Greg out to a movie this afternoon. They saw Starsky and Hutch. Mike and I had a quiet afternoon together which was nice after all of the upheaval about Greg. Tomorrow we will be at church first thing, Mike is singing with the choir, then we have reservations for an Easter buffet brunch. After that we head over to Mike's Mother's house. He is one of seven kids, they will all be there with their spouses and children. The grandkids range in age from 22 yo (my David) down to 5 yo (Mike's brother's son who is Mike's godson).
Do you all remember that I was thinking of a treadmill? I finally bought one this week. It seemed like a good idea for stress relief and to continue with my WW and fitness efforts. It is really great to have one right downstairs. We have a TV and a stereo in the room, so unlike at the exercise club, I can listen to whatever I like.
Linda, welcome, I can see that you are a great addition to our group. I apologize for not welcoming you sooner, but as you can see I have been preoccupied lately. I am 51, married for 27 years and have 2 sons, Dave and the frequently mentioned, Greg.
Es, I hope they have eliminated all of the serious concerns about your health. I imagine that the discomfort with the swelling was awful until it was treated. I tend to get swelling in my feet and legs in the summer if I sit still for long spells. It is worse when my weight is up. I hope you are feeling better and that you have a great Easter.
Jen, The job sounds like it will really suit you. I hope it is going well and fits in with all of your other interests. Congrats on getting the pin out and graduating to gym shoes! Yay!
Dianne, Terri and Donna, thank you again for all your kindness I really appreciate everyone here.
Bless you all for being here,
Have a great Easter with your loved ones.

Terri,
I miss hiding the baskets :( yep, we have always done that. I remember talking about it here other years...you and I were the only ones, I think!
Sounds like both you and Tanner had a great treat. Good going on the loss! :cp:
Dianne,
That must be a huge basket! Sounds like it will be fun with all the family together. Up to 5 miles already...awesome!
Sandy,
It must be difficult for teachers to have to follow today's zero tolerance policies when it comes to kids like Greg, who may have a single instance of straying...I'm sure their support means alot to you. Enjoy your treadmill :D
Es,
Have a great day, keep your feet up!
Linda,

A BLESSED AND HAPPY EASTER TO EVERYONE!
Just a quick hello  to everybody this morning. Went to mass lastnight so I could sleep in a little today. Sure; I woke up at 6:30 instead of my normal 5:00 ;) .
Sandy - please...no apologies needed. You have your hands full. Enjoy your Brunch!
Jen - Now I have a "general" idea where you live! That cake is traditionally made by people of Dominician heritage. I don't have a recipe, but I do know where I can find one. DS says "it's dry" and doesn't like it. I find the texture to be "unique" for lack of a better word and there's something in it I can't place. Ah heck; it just tastes good! I'll find the recipe and post.
Dianne - I hid eggs this morning. Nothing like in years past. But just a little something to keep the tradition going.
Es, Dianne, Teri, Donna (if you're within keyboards ears) I hope you all enjoy this Blessed Day!
Talk to you later.............

HAPPY EASTER TO ALL MY BUDDIES!
The bridal shower was nice. Everything was done in such good taste. I was home before 4:00. :) I had to run out & buy shoes & a blouse. I found both right away. I'm feeling pretty good today. I finally feel like I have my life back. I was so miserable while going thru this. I go back to WW Friday & if the dr. says it's okay to go back to exercising I will go to Curves right after work Thursday or if my appt. doesn't take too long Wed. maybe I'll go then. I can't wait to get into my regular routine.
Anyway, just a quick hello. David is here. We're going to watch a movie. Enjoy the rest of the day with your families.

Es,
So glad to hear that you're feeling a bit better! I know how you miss exercising, hope you get the ok from the dr. soon. Just don't over do it ;)
Terri,
I neglected to mention Britt's prom...OMG, 2000 kids? I don't blame her for not wanting to attend. That's insane. Obviously that's the norm now; my senior class had 345 students
My foot is coming along very slowly. It's still swollen and much more sore than I had anticipated; wearing my gyms is not an option. I tried doing so on Wed, Thurs and Fri, but the right one is way too tight due to the swelling. I purchased a larger wider pair of black gyms, and today am wearing the right one only, with my good black flat on my left :dizzy: It feels pretty good, and looks as tho this will be the solution for the coming weeks until everything gets back to normal. Since my dr. scheduled my next appt. for 8 weeks from now, I'm assuming that's how long it will be.

Yes, I remember us talking about the hiding of baskets. I hid them again this year. It is still fun.
I'll bet you cannot wait til your foot is back to normal. I am glad you found a solution.
Es,
I am so glad that you feel you have your life back. You have had it rough. Just trying to figure out was wrong was draining. Enjoy Curves when you can go. Hope it is soon.
What movie did you watch? We watched Shindler's List. We just bought it on DVD. What an emotional movie. Never saw it before. We watched Something's Gotta Give on Sat. Cute!
Sandy,
I hope you enjoy your treadmill. Bruce bought me wireless headphones cause my treadmill is a little loud and I had to turn the TV up loud to hear it. The earphones are great. I didn't know if your's was loud or not.
Linda,
I am so glad you had a great Easter. Mine was very nice. The kids got up and looked for their baskets and then we went to Church and then we went to the Marriott and had their Easter Brunch. It was wonderful. I had 25 points at the brunch. I ended up with 32 points so that is 10 flexpoints. Not to bad for a Holiday.

Hope you all had a good Easter - mine was great, but I have to be honest and say I totally :ink: 'd out! OMG - someone should have shot me. But...oh well....., I'm back on track so that's a good thing. You know what I always say, "sometimes life gets in the way" and I'm not gonna sweat it. I walked 10.4 miles this weekend so, maybe the results won't be too bad come next sat's wi.

Evening ladies....What a day!! I sure hate Mondays especially after a wonderful Sunday!
Es - I'm so glad you're feeling better and that you had a good time at the shower!
Jen - Sorry your foot isn't cooperating with you! :^: But just think about all the pretty shoes you'll be wearing by the summer!! Hang in there sweetie; it's going to be just fine.
Dianne - Getting back on track is the best thing "we can do". Notice I said "we" as in "me"... :o I never beat myself up if I have a bad day and slip off program. If I did, I'd be arrested now for "self abuse".
Terri - You did very well with your points for a Holiday Brunch!!! :bravo: I had somewhat of a hard time being I made foods that I normally don't make cause they are "red light" foods for me. Oh well....that was yesterday and today is today! :)
Well I'm going kick off these shoes and relax for the rest of the evening.

I'm so glad Monday is almost over. David just called me that he has to leave work. He feels like he has a fever. Since yesterday he was complaining that he didn't feel well & I told him he should go to the dr. He always waits till the last minute for everything.

Linda, I saw 2 ladies today that I haven't seen in a while & OMG. They lost so much weight. I asked them how they did it & they said WW. I'm glad you're not stressing over what you ate yesterday. That's the way I think about being on program now. I use to stress so much. Not anymore. :nono:
Enjoy your R & R. ;)
Amiga, you go with your bad self! 10.4 :cb: I really am very proud of you. :)
Terri, I'm glad you enjoyed your brunch. You really know how to use your points. I've been doing pretty good the past few days. It feels great being OP.

Morning everyone. Well, I've waged my own war on fat this morning. Yep...I weighed myself :stress: and it was a wake up call. I've been fooling myself into thinking "oh you'r e doing just fine" even though.....you're not journaling, you're not weighing or measuring, you not thinking!!!!! And I'm 10 pounds over where I was before the winter. So, with that thought in my head, I didn't beat myself up, :rollpin: rather I took the positive approach. I left home early, hit the grocery store before coming to work. I picked up some low point snacks, saltless pretzles (I know much of this is water cause I couldn't get my rings off) and a couple of Lean Cuisine things for lunch. And I've promised myself I would begin my journaling and measureing again. Oh yes and the dreaded water intake will increase. I worked way too hard :tread: to loose this weight to just sit back and allow myself to put it all back on. And with that said.......Thanks for listening. I don't feel uncomfortable here and knew you all would understand and be supportive.
Es - I hope David is feeling better! Kids....MEN!!!! :)
Well  will be here soon so let me get going here.
Again, thanks for the shoulders!!

Hi guys:
Linda - I know exactly how you feel, I'm sure we all do. Its great that you're not beating yourself up and that instead you are getting your supplies in, etc. If I tell you that last year I was 3 lbs from goal and completely sabatoged (sp?) myself - I could have kicked my own a--! But I'm not doing that anymore, it doesn't solve anything. We've just gotta look at a fresh day and seize it!
What a crummy day today - and its my baby girl's birthday - 21!!! She's finally legal. She's going to come home this weekend and we will have a dinner for her at Lisa's and then we're all going "clubbing" :p She wants to have her first legal drink with us - hmmmmmmmm, wonder how many "illegal" drinks she's had since she started college  It should be fun though - Lisa's going to decorate in the "21" theme and then we're gonna go dancing the night away. I'm excited for her - she couldn't wait to be 21. She loves dancing with her dad, she and he have been dancing together since she was a baby. :smug: She's a salsa sweetie!
Hi Jen, Es (thanks for being proud of me, amiga), Ruthie, Donna, Terri, Sandy, ZoeGirl and Janie. I hope you are all doing well. I'll talk to you's soon.
Hugs,

Hi you all! Just wanted to let you all know I'm back and glad of it! No visits to the casino's except once to have a real inexpensive meal at a great Italian restaurant. We got back last night and man it is cold!!!!
Chat more later.

Amiga, where are you's going? To the Copa? That's where David wants to take me for my birthday. Have fun with your baby girl.
Linda, my office manager has to work PT for 1 month. :dancer: She's a pretty sick girl. I feel sorry for sometimes. You'd be surprised on how much of your gain is water! Keep that positive attitude & you'll be back to where you were in no time.
Gotta go. I've been online too long already.
Till tomorrow:wave:
Hugs to the rest of our gang. ;)

Hi all...what a crappy day!! :rain: The fog is so thick I can't see 2 blocks up! I'm off today and headed downtown to take DS for an eye exam. It's time, actually it's long overdue and I see him "squinting" sometimes. And of course, when we tell him to give his eyes a break from the computer or the video games it's always " I'm ok". Well, we'll see! :)
Donna - Welcome home! Do tell us about your trip when time permitts!
Dianne - Oh it sounds like you are going to have a blast this weekend!!! Where ya going dancin'? I think I'm married to the only Puerto Rican in the world who can't dance!! Really...this man has two left feet!!
Es - Luck you to not have the boss around as much. However I don't wish illness on anyone. I hope her health improves. Sometimes that makes people
Day 1 of being totally OP again wasn't bad. Gosh I hate writing down everything I eat! But that's how I got into this mess isn't it? So I write, measure and drink!! :)
Gotta run....need to do laundry before we head out. Hi Jen, Terri, Sandy and all.....Have a good day buddies! :grouphug:

Good morning everyone,
Dianne,
:hb: Happy 21st Birthday to Alana! :gift: What a milestone, I wish her the best. Sounds like you'll have a blast this weekend
Linda,
Good going on the positive approach to getting back on program! That's uplifting, you'll feel so much better than if you beat yourself up about it.
My job is going well. There were many personnel changes made, with early retirements, etc. resulting in 20% of the staff leaving in January. It was attributed to budget restrictions, but now they're filling some of those empty positions with "fresh" blood. I think some of it had to do with attitude adjustments  We're getting a new supervisor at the end of the month, so my immediate boss will know less than I :s: I'm hoping to stay here until I decide to retire permanently.
I'm stopping at the store today to pick up my OP helper foods...have spent way too much time thinking about it and not DOING IT! So, once again, here goes the Queen of the Fresh Start. :crossed: Now that I've got to dress for work every day I can't stand the thought of buying more plus size clothes. I'd be on :cloud9: if I was down to a 14!

Hi all.
Dianne,
HAPPY 21st to Alana. :balloons: :gift: :hb:
Have fun clubbing. Doesn't seem real huh? Britts will be 18 in a couple weeks. Where did the years go?
Jen,
Good luck. We will all have fresh starts for the rest of our lives. This isn't the first and it won't be the last. Such is life. You will do great especially when the swelling goes down and just think, the pool will be ready soon.
Linda,
Writing it down is the only way. You have a great attitude. The kind it takes to succeed. I am sure you will get the 10 pounds off the first month.
Donna,
Glad you had a great time.
Es,
I hope David feels better. That is great about the 2 WWers.
I hope your office manager gets better fast.
What I do at buffets is get a taste of all the things I love. I am completely satisified that way. Each thing I get is only about 2 points each. I am always full when I am done.
TTYL,
Terri

Hi:wave:
Amiga, I just realized it was Alana's birthday. I thought it was this weekend. Happy Birthday Alana:hb: :gift: :hat: I listen to WBLS alot & I love listening to Wendy Williams between 4-4:30, my ride home from work, she's going to be at the Copa this weekend.
Terri, that's what I do when I go to the buffets. I just get a little of each to taste then end it with ice cream. :sumo:
All is well with my legs. Dr. didn't find anything wrong. I have 1 more appt. at the end of the month with the rheumatologist. He gave me the OK to exercise. :tread: Back to Curves tomorrow. I can't wait.
Jen, happy to hear you like your job.
The office manager is a pain at times but I feel sorry for her. She almost died a couple of years ago. She had some blood disease. She wasn't the office manager back then. She was a paralegal. She was in the hospital for 1 year, went into kidney failure but got a new kidney from a 17 yr. old that was killed. Long story.
Linda, how did DS's eye exam go? I go back to WW's Friday. I'm finally getting my life in order.
Sammy is acting up. I sware I think he does bad things to get my attention.
Have a good night everybody.
Love,
Es

Good Morning all....another rainy day. I swear I thought I saw mold on my arm this morning!! :dizzy: Everything went well with DS's eye exam. He was complaining of "floaters" awhile back. He would see "things scoot across" when in a bright room or when he looked at the sky. Dr. said everything is perfect and it's just fiber in the something... :?: But he got a very through exam and I'm relieved. I didn't realize teens could have them, but the Dr. reassured me that any age can get them. He had them as a child.
Terri - Oh I wish I could drop 10 in a month. Unfortunately I'm a slow looser. But I will loose!! :strong:
Es - Sammy does just what Roxie does! If I ignore her, she'll run into my room and find my sneaker, slipper anything she can reach and drag it out. THEN the little  will parade around as if to say "try and get it"! Actually it's cute but I'll never tell her.
Jen - I'm so happy for you and the new job!! I did myshopping this week too for "OP helper foods". Funny how all WW'ers think the same!
Well I need to run.... is not here today but I do have work to do. A [big Hi[/b] to Dianne, Donna and Sandy!! Catch you all later.... :balloons:

Linda, You sound like me. It would be very unlike me to lose ten pounds in one month. I however have no problem gaining ten in a month. :yikes: :dizzy: :lol3: What kind of OP helper foods do you get? I would appreciate some help in that department because I gained 4 pounds in two weeks and it has really discouraged me. Glad that the eye exam went well.
Es, I assume we are talking about dogs. We have a cockatiel (along with a cat and dog) that does more things to get my attention then the dog. LOL He will purposely drop some of his seed into his water cup because he knows I will have to come to his cage and clean it out. You ought to see him and my daughter play tag! LOL It's too cute. :)
Dianne, :hb: to your daughter! I hope she had a great day. I absoluely love her name, sounds so much like my Elena.
Terri, what's up with you lately? I wish I could go to a buffet and just eat 2 point items. I guess I should just lock myself in a bubble. :bubbles:
Jen, glad to hear your job is doing so well! I am still having pains in my arm and I just know that it would be beneficial if I received Physical therapy even if the doctor doesn't seem to think I will need it. How is your foot?
Sandy, I am thinking of you and hoping things are looking better for you.
It's a beautiful day out today but still a little on the chilly side. Our trip to Mississippi went good and my mil's surgery went well also. It was a working trip because the sil who was in charge of the party for my mil got sick and I had to do alot which I didn't mind but when you are not in your own house and you have 4 kids who were messing up as soon as you were cleaning up it was difficult! LOL Was glad to be home though and now my other sil who lives in NJ may be coming our way tomorrow night on their way home. So, got a house to clean don't I? :)
I hope you all have a great day. Keep your chin up Es, Terri, Linda, Dianne, Sandy and others that I have missed. :grouphug:

Good mornin' girls:
Thanks everyone for Alana's birthday wishes. :smug:
Es - We're not yet sure if we're going to the Copa or to LQ (the new Latin Quarter) - but either is fine with her. She just wants to dance her salsa
You know I was thinking about the office manager - I feel bad for her too, but I was also thinking how she got a second chance at life with a new kidney, you'd think she'd be a really nice, happy person. Well, I wish her a speedy recovery anyway.
Terri - I don't know where the years go either - when I first came to work at the University Justin was in kindergarten and Alana was 3 years old! Now, he's graduating from college next month and she turned 21! :yikes: I'll be here 18 years come November - unbelievable. I also remember Britts being like 13 - holy moly!
Jen - Glad you are liking your new job. Great going on picking up the OP food - I find that to be so important, especially at work. You'll get to that size 14 buddy!
Linda - Too funny about the mold growing on your arm :p I know, I'm sick of this rain too - but better than snow! Glad to hear your son's exam went well. No, you aren't married to the only Puerto Rican man who can't dance - my first husband was the same and our son took after him, unfortunately. Now, willie and I dance up a storm together. We've been dancing together for 25 years and know each other's moves so well. We even won a dance contest last year at a fund raising event. Our son, Justin was playing at the event, so it was really cool.
Donna - Welcome back, girl - sorry I didn't get the chance to say that earlier. Did you have a good time? Sorry to hear about the pains in your arm.
Thanks for the compliment on Alana's name - you'd be surprised how many people call her Elena - another beautiful name. Alana is Irish and Hawaiian - in Gaelic it is an affectionate term, like honey, sweetheart, etc. As for the Hawaiian part - my SIL nicknamed her Lani years ago and it stuck. That's what most of the family call her. I also call her munch and willie calls her banana - go figure
Hey Sandy - how are things going? Did Greg start his night classes yet? How is he feeling - still seeing a therapist? How are you doing? I'm thinking of you.
Ruthie - where are you???? Same for ZoeGirl and Janie - I miss you guys :(
The fund raising for the aids walk is going really well - I had to raise my goal again - this time to $1,500 and as of today, I'm about $40 from that goal! Its amazing how generous people have been with this. Its overwhelming!
Okay, gotta get back to work. Talk to you's soon. Have a great day everyone.
Hugs,
Dianne

Dianne,
I love to hear of kids wanting to spend time with their parents. That is so cool!!! I hope Britts continues to want to. Have fun!!!!!
Congratulations on your goal. Good luck.
Donna,
Your cockatiel sounds so cute. They are smart.
That party sounds so nice. Your MIL sounds like such a nice person to have everyone travel for her.
Linda,
I am so glad to hear about DS's eye. That can be so scary.
I can't lose 10 pounds in a month either except when I first go back. I usually lose around 8 pounds in water the first week. After that month it is like anywhere from .2-3 pounds per week.
My 3 year old mix did the exact same thin as Roxie. He grabs something and it sits by him until one of us comes out into the room and he grabs it and dares us to chase him. He has slowed down in doing this this year. Kind of sad but yet not!! They are so cute you just cannot stay mad at them for long.
Es,
Little Sammy sounds so cute. Bet you can't stay mad too long either. Those eyes must get to you.
I am so glad that you get to exercise again. That should help. That is awful about your office manager. To get a second chance at life is something that should make you a nicer person. Enjoy life more.
I just got done doing the front and 1/2 the back yard. It took 2 hours. I am initiating my 12 yr. old to the lawnmower today. He is excited. Wonder how long that will last? :dizzy: His birthday is Saturday and he is getting a guitar. My husband already bought him a MP3 player and then the guitar came up big time. He is so into Country Music right now. He never asks for much so those will be the 2 gifts from us. He will be a teenager. :(
He is 5'9" tall right now. I think he will pass up Bruce who is 6'.
Well, I'll talk to y'all later.

Donna - here's what I call my OP Helpers.
Thomas's Low Carb Bagels - 2pts
Instant Oat Meal - 3 pts
Kudo's or Quaker Granola bars - depending on which ones 2 or 3 pts. I crave sweets often.
Low Fat Yogurt
Low Fat Cottge Cheese with Pineapple
Fresh Fruits
Reduced Fat Wheat Thins
Salt Free Pretzel Mini's
Most of this is for work. There are times when I just have to munch on something and I'll reach for some of the above. I keep this home and bring in measured portions.
gotta run.......hugs!!

Ok, it's all about THE MIND for me. I have yogurt (2) banana (2) and l.f. graham crackers (2) for breakfast.... a low point lunch for 6/7 points....and never ever think about food when I'm at work. All day long I'm satisfied, never crave a single thing. That means I'm using less than half my points (28 total) all day, yet at dinner and afterward I'm nutso crazy....going way over....dinner and sweets and wine.
So that means it's all mental, right? I don't understand how I can eat well during the day, yet throw it all away once it's later in the day.
I will admit it's been a while since I've been strictly OP. Will have to get used to hunger pangs and determine where and when I need to fit in proteins.
It's surprising, however, to see how well I eat during the day when I'm occupied.
Terri, is it Brandon who's getting into the guitar? Joey got his first one at the age of 16...and was hooked! He still will bring it over and we have fun with him picking out tunes. He's got a collection of them ,they look great on his walls.
Dianne,
You've done a remarkable job of raising pledges for your walk. :D What is the date for it again?
Donna,
It sounds as though you really had a working vacation! Hope you're getting to relax a bit now that you've returned :lol
Linda,
Glad your son's eye exam went well.
I know there is more to address, but I'm tired....still getting used to working full time after being off for 3 and a half years! My foot is still swollen and fairly sore, but I can feel a bit of improvement each and every day :D So I know the end is in sight....
Have a great Friday!!!

And I'm down 1.5 pounds! :cb: I'm on my way!
Jen - Oh I couldn't agree more about the mental thing. :) I had a very hard time in the beginning when I first started WW obsessing about food. Granted you do get hungry sometimes. But I try now to know the difference between real hunger and "emotional hunger". I try to keep my breakfast 5 or less points with lunch around 6-7. Night time is my killer cause I must have something with coffee after dinner. So I'm really careful during the day not to use up too many of those 27 points.
Terri - Happy Birthday to your son! Ahhhh...another teen boy! My DS is 14 and it's like overnight we loose our babies. Enjoy your weekend!
Dianne - this is your big birthday weekend too! Have you decided where you guys are going?? Where ever it is, have a ball.
I need to run....the boss will be here soon. A big hi to Donna, Es and Sandy!

Hi Girls:wave:
WOW! So many posts! :)
Linda, congrats on your loss. :dancer: WOOHOO Way to go! Is Linda your real name, if you don't mind me asking? Losing weight is a mental thing & so is exercise. If you don't have it in you, no matter what anybody says you just won't do it. You seem to be doing well. Keep up the good work;)
Amiga, party harty! It's going to be a beautiful weekend. I hope Alana has a great time. I haven't danced Salsa in a while. I have to make Pete dance. I don't know why because he's a pretty good dancer. But, if he has a drink or two, forgetaboutit. I'm the one that has to tell him let's take a break. David on the other hand loves to dance. I usually dance with him. Have fun!
Jen, funny how when we're occupied we don't think of eating unless we hear our tummies grumble. I eat small meals through out the day. At night I crave the sweets.

What a feeling of contributing! I never realized how it affected me until I was off work for a few months. Today was especially sweet, receiving that check.
Then Joe surprised me with margaritas in the yard after work...plus he made a platter of nachos with homemade guacamole  okay, not points-conscious, but hearfelt none the less. :D Dinner was great !

Dianne - So did we "salsa" the night away? How was the "first drink"? I do hope everyone had a great time. Where did you eventually go?
Terri - And how was your party? Was your son surprised by the guitar? I hope your family had a great time!

Hi Buddies:wave:
It's quiet here. I guess everybody is enjoying the weekend. I'm going to Jonathan's christening today. He's my nephew's little boy. There's Jonathan 6 mths old & Lil Louie 7 yrs. old. I love them to death. Since my nephew is like a son to me I feel like I'm a grandmother already. He calls me his second mother. His mother is running around like a crazy woman, dating young guys, drinking, partying & has no time for her kids. She's always been wild but at 55 yrs. old she's totally lost it & she won't take advice from anybody. Sad:(
It's going to be a nice day. I have to tell you I'm back to the weight before all this happened to me. Since I walked into the drs. office I'm down 17 lbs. Now I know whatever I lose will be fat not water. I have to go back to WW's before they dismiss me. They've had me on hold for a little over 1 month.
Amiga, did you dance alot? Let us know how it went. I can't wait to find out. :cb:
Linda, enjoy this beautiful day.

Good mornin' guys:
Whew.......!! I'm still recuperating from saturday night/sunday morn :p We had a great time - first we had a dinner party for Alana at Lisa's and everybody was there. Then we trooped off to the city to the Copa. Justin and his girlfriend met us there. We had a ball!! We danced so much and Alana's boyfriend Casey, who she had just given a couple of salsa lessons to earlier in the day, well, he even got up there (first he had to have a drink) We had a great time and got home at 6:15 sunday morning :coffee: It was so funny, Justin's girlfriend, Emily, gave us kind of a backhanded compliment - she said "its so cool that you're able to hang out this late, since usually people of your age don't stay out this late"!!! :p I wanted to smack her  No, but I know she really was trying to compliment us old folks
P.S. for my fellow NY'ers - do go to the Copa if you want a good time - DON"T go to LQ (the new Latin Quater) unless you want to waste tons of money. We were on line and a woman told us that if we wanted a table (which willie had reserved) it would cost us $250 for a bottle of vodka (the cheapest) and actually, since there were 6 of us, we really should order two bottles @ $500!! :yikes: Can you imagine??? We could'nt so we said no thanks and left. (Well, actually I said ARE YOU KIDDING???!!! AND ARE YOU NUTS???!!! I couldn't hold my tongue!!
Anyway, Alana and Casey went back to school and she told us she had a birthday to remember and really enjoyed the whole dinner/club night. That's all that matters!
Well, I can't address everyone right now, but I'll be back tomorrow (I have bowling tonight so don't think I'll be able to get back here tonight).
Hope everyone has a great day! NY will be having 80 plus degree weather today - I'm gonna get out there at lunch time and walk a little. Talk to you's soon.
Hugs,

Amiga, I had a feeling you would wind up going to the Copa. David goes every other week with his "home boys". I hear that place is HOT! I have to go one of these days. I'm glad Alana had a good time & Mom too. ;) I haven't broke night in a very long time. I don't think I can do it. :tired: You never mentioned if you like Casey? Is he a nice guy?
Linda, the christening was nice. We left early cause Pete had to work. We were home by 6:30 which was fine with me. I don't hang out late on Sundays. Not when I know I have to work the next day. Did you enjoy today? Wasn't it beautiful? When I got out of work I was debating should I walk or go to Curves. I went to Curves.
I'm a bit tired so I'll make this short. I'll be back tomorrow.

Morning all....
Well I had a bit of a "bomb" drop on me yesterday. Looks like my hours are going to be cut. I work 4 days now and starting sometime, I'll be down to 3. I'm sorta ok with that since I'm looking at the hip surgery in August. But I'm hoping "financial wise" it's not forever. Business sucks; plain and simple. But other than that things are great!
Es - glad you enjoyed the christening! Oh yesterday was a beauty of a day. Too bad I spent 7 hours of it at work! :dizzy:
Dianne - You broke night!! I can't remember the last time I did that! I'm with Es; don't know if I could!
Jen - sounds like you have a nice visit coming! Enjoy.
Well I need to roust DS outta bed!! Have a great day everyone and enjoy this beautiful weather ladies!! Hugs to all.... :grouphug:

Donna, why did you delete your post:?:

Es, I guess the mood I was in made me realize that was way too much to lay on others! My outlook is looking better since I did lose a pound on Wed. weigh in but still feel the need to go back to old ways and that bothers me. How are things with you?
I may not be posting much for other reasons. I have been extremely tied up with helping my sister pack up things for my Dad's preparation to move into a new house he is building next to us. My sister lives next to me and he is building next to her so we are going to be a very CLOSE family! LOL Whether that is good or bad we shall see. It's good timing though because my Dad and his wife have decided to divorce after three years of marriage. It's been rather emotional though going through things and discovering things that were once my Mother's. Just also want to warn you guys Mother's Day is a hard time for me. For some reason this day bothers me more than other times of the year since my Mom's death in 1998. :(
Well, Later guys. I hope you all are doing good.
Love,
Donna
