Hope everyone is having a MUCH better day than I am!!
Today is one of those days...I went to get a glass plate out for my sandwich and....SMASH!! All over the floor!! My daughter packed them in there too tight and soon as I pulled one out...SMACK...then...I had to move everything over to clean off the counter and so I moved the dish rack over to other counter and it fell off of the counter and broke the blue spoon holder and glass light bulb protector. Sigh...and because the glass is clear, I couldn't see it all so when I went to trot out of there to get a pair of shoes so I could come back in the kitchen to vacuum up the rest, I cut my foot open and got blood all over..and still got a piece of glass stuck in there somewhere.. What a wonderful day!!!

That absolutely, positively, totally sucks! What did you do to pi$$ off your house elf, girl? Now you're going to have to make nice and leave him a special treat, maybe let him pet the rats and sing to them. That should get rid of the jinx. Well, anyway, try it and if that doesn't work I think my spell book is in one of the boxes in the spare room... ;)

Well, I managed to pop the glass out. I got in the shower and turned the water up HOT and squeezed!! Ahhhh..relief!! :D

Oh yeah - March results. I only lost a couple of pounds all month. Very frustrating, but I do know I am in a lot better shape than I was at the beginning of the month. I exercised almost every day of the month and I feel much better, and firmer, than I did in the winter. I plan on April showing better results on the scale!

Hi all so excited to be here...Jennifer if you have been exercising that much I am sure you are losing inches....Keep it up you are doing awesome...I wanted to ask you about your profile..you mention being lusted after by Johnny Depp? I think he is so hot! When I lived in Ca we would go to his club and my my friend s band would always play there. In person he seems rather ODD, but he was nice eye candy in Pirates!

Hi Kapinni! My profile is tongue-in-cheek. :D I do think he is terribly talented and good looking, though, and it was a good chance to squeak him in.
You don't have to do low carb to control PCOS, the Good Carbs are also important. Your main goal is to slow the glucose spikes. When you have spikes, you make insulin to carry it off and utilize it. Since you are IR, you make more insulin to do the same trick. When you get all this insulin, you are storing extra fat. You need to slow the spikes, utilize your glucose better, and store less fat. White flour and white sugar cause your biggest spikes. Eating good carbs and high fiber will slow down those spikes. I have been doing South Beach Diet. I've come to a standstill. My IR is much lower now that I have lost weight, so I am going to give something else a try. I'm starting Body For Life hopefully by the first of the week. I miss lifting weights and being toned, so I am making a goal to get back into my old shape and hopefully raise my metabolism. I'll keep you posted on how it goes!
BTW, I understand completely about having a hard time feeding the family something different - I didn't have any problems with SBD. We ate the same thing, basically. On occasion my son would get corn or a baked potato with his dinner, and he was given more grains than I had, but other than that, it was a very nutritionally sound plan for the whole family.
Ugh..what a first 3 days of April **** this has been for me...
My Friday went worse. I didn't get any sleep. I started to have severe abdominal cramping/pain...burning...then came the fun stuff of getting dehydrated by losing fluids out of everywhere... I looked like the zombie from ****...white face..black under eyes. So I had hubby take me to Urgent care but got sent to the E/R. So..got to the E/R and they did a CT Scan and X ray...turned out I have a freaking ROCK in my kidney...and I brusied my kidney too...I dunno how one can bruise a kidney but...somehow I did. I was also dehydrated so they gave me an IV and some lovely morophine and a nice anti-nausea drug. Ahhhhhhhhhh....:cloud9:
So we got home late...and I got 3 hours sleep. Then I got up at 6:30 AM and went and judged the competition. I wound up being there for 11 hours. No kidding. But it was a good thing cause I was on my feet almost the whole time, walking, walking...and more walking and I flushed out my stone or did something cause it doesn't seem to be bothering me anymore. I'll take it easy today though just to play it safe...Besides hubby can cater to me since he's home.
Hope everyone else is doing well!!! http://www.planetsmilies.com/smilies/love/love23.gif

Gosh Noodles, sorry you're having such a rough time this month! Hope you're feeling better now. I think this is my first post on this thread but I've been around for a while. Hi everyone  I'm having a tough time losing weight. I'll try to give the cliff notes version. I got diagnosed with PCOS in 2001. My doctor was a complete jerk so I left him for a wonderful lady who understands pcos. She tested me for IR but she said my levels were pretty low. But decided to try glucophage anyway. In less than 6 months my levels were through the roof so she increased it. I lost some weight but I think it was just from being in the bathroom constantly :o So I quit taking it and I'm trying to do things the natural way. I really have a hard time with eating. I went to a nutritionist years ago and lost 30 pounds but I couldn't stick with it and gained it all back plus some. So needless to say I'm pretty resistant to any diet plan. I'm trying to make positive changes. I've pretty much cut out sweets, I use splenda when I need sugar, I've almost given up sodas, and I exercise a minimum of 3 days a week. I have managed to change my shape over the past year but I haven't lost weight in pounds or inches. So thats me. Just wanted to say hi and give a little info about me. Thanks for listening - Amy :queen:

Welcome, Amy!! Glad to have you here!!
Yea this month has just sucked so far...I still got a stone or 2 or 3...cuts into my vacation. I was going to leave Monday but...that isn't possible now. I'm hoping this rock passes/passed so I can get outta here! I really need to fly the coop for a bit. (Not this coop..my home coop). Too much is going on that is just stressing me out and I don't like/need to be stressed out cause that leads to bummed out which leads to depressed Noodles. Only good thing is I'm at 171 pounds. Feels strange to fit into clothes I haven't worn in 7 years!! :D

Amy - I TOTALLY relate! I am such the faithful dieter. I can count on 1 hand the things I 'shouldn't have eaten' in the past 3 months. And I haven't lost a thing since the first of the year. Well actually I did twice, and both times it came right back on. I just stay stable. I'm getting ready to start weight training hoping that will raise my metabolism and let me lose like a normal person. I've just got a ruined metabolism. Good luck to you!

Hello ladies,
I've been out of town in New Mexico for a few days and haven't had a chance to pop in here. OUCH about the glass thing! A couple weeks ago I bought a beautiful outfit on eBay, which I loved so much I had to try it on immediately. I slipped it over my head, and my hand hit the ugly chandelier in the kitchen. Two of the giant glass globes FLEW off and SMASHED against the microwave, then the floor. It sounded like bombs going off! I found myself wearing a stunning outfit, covered in glass shards, and standing smack in the middle of a wood floor coated in tiny pieces of sharp glass. Oh no! Luckily I escaped unharmed, but we are still finding little pieces of glass every now and then. No good! Plus the chandelier tilts and is now even uglier.
As for weight loss, I had a weird dietary hiccup (too much salt?) and gained 5 pounds in like 2 days, which I've now lost. But I'm still hovering at a too-high weight and I'm having a rough time. I'm on the pity pot, you could say, like WHY ME!? Why do I have to be fat and always having to try to lose weight. Wahhh wahhhh wahhh! Plus I'm on my spring break so I have nothing to do except shop, lay around, and eat. Food is a turnoff since I've been on this metformin, but I still feel like I'm making crap food choices when I DO eat. I am realizing that I guess I DON'T know what to eat! Sob sob sniff! I am going to a dietician in a couple weeks to learn what I need to do. Till then, I am trying to cut down on sugars and white carbs. My stomach has settled down, thank God. I was seriously worried about my health with that constant gotta-go-to-the-bathroom feeling. Yuck. As soon as my menstrual cycle gets more normal, I know I will feel a whole lot better.
I want to lose weight to be healthier, and we want babies someday if that's in the cards for us! When we got married, my husband didn't know a lot about women's bodies and just assumed that I would get pregnant within the first month. Yeah right! I know some women do but I am shocked at how many of my friends have had a hard time or are having a hard time conceiving, and most of us are in our mid-twenties. THe girls I know who are having real trouble are thin, even, so weight isn't the only factor. I really think there is something seriously wrong, pollution, contamination, SOMETHING, to cause all these problems with fertility. I was looking at TTC groups on Yahoo and there are hundreds! Those are just the women who want to chat with someone about it. For every one of them, there are probably hundreds more women who keep it to themselves. Sad and scary!
So I'm up, and down, and up and down. Hope all of you are well and congratulations to those of you who are losing or trying to lose. Hope I'll be a loser too someday soon!

WOW SITC, you look great! And to the ladies who are bummed out over smaller losses than you wanted or expected, try my diet trick. When I was feeling crummy about not losing weight as fast as I wanted or as much, I would figure out how many pounds I had lost recently (2, or 6, etc) and go to the supermarket dairy aisle. I would stand in front of the pounds of butter and LOOK at 2 pounds of butter or 6 pounds, and imagine that being gone from my frame. Awesome motivation. Another way to look at it is that (I've read) human fat is about 6 pounds to the gallon. So if you lose six pounds, you've lost about a gallon of volume. Makes you feel skinnier already, I hope.

Hi everyone....
Noodles, I am so sorry to hear what you have been going through lately...I hope those stones have been birthed and you are on the mend. I also hope your little skipping, dancing, bowling toes are healed! Ouch. Congrats on your loss, you are doing fantastic.
SITC- your pictures are wonderful. Good for you. You look absolutely radiant and are a true inspiration. Good job!!! How is it going at the gym?
Amy, Jennifer - I hear you on the slow metabolism, struggle with weight loss story. It is a struggle for me. However, the exercise is so beneficial - even if there is extra weight to come off exercise will have many paybacks to numerous to mention.
I am doing well, struggling along. I am very into my exercise and faithful to cardio and weight training. I know it is helping me but boy the numbers on the scale sure don't move the way I want them to.
I have had problems with an ulcer lately. I have had a little too much stress in my life lately and I think the stomach acids have been high with ulcers being a result. I am closing in on becoming the first under forty Gaviscon queen or perhaps the latest Pepcid AC princess. I would much prefer to be known for being the kick boxing goddess, so will keep working on those kicks/punches. Hope everyone is well....
Take Care,
Jenaya

It is for Adult Strabismus...otherwise known as Eye Muscle Surgery. They are going in and re-aligning both of my eye muscles so I don't need a prism in my glasses anymore. Right now...my eyes are beyond what a prism can fix so the only option is surgery. Blah... I just got off the phone with the nurse... I get to come home after sugery so long as I have absolutely NO problems/side effects/or complaints. I'll keep my mouth shut. :tape: Can't ever get any sleep in hospitals anyhow. :p

Hi everyone,
I have eaten far too many Easter bunnies and felt the need to confess. Darn, why do the aunts, uncles, teachers, neighbours and grandparents feel my two children need a ton of Hershey each? I tried to throw it out, I have tried to chop it into bits and use in muffins and cookies (like the kids or I need that!). Rrr...people's kindness is wonderful but I hate having this crap in the house. So, I have done kickboxing like nobodies business in hopes of getting those rabbits off my thighs and rear! I cleansed the house of all evil chocolate this evening and will get back at my healthy plan tomorrow. Thanks for listening.
I hope everyone is doing well. Angel, sorry for the struggles. Take the high road and try some relaxation and visualization at bedtime. Maybe journal to get those thoughts out and not let them wrap around your psyche at night. How awful for you!
Glad the gym is going well SITC - sounds like a great place. I like the sound of the pool and with that hot body of yours, I hope you are enjoying it like never before! Yes, I have been to the doc re: ulcers. Chocolate has only exacerbated my symptoms which is 100% my own fault - stupid! Not at all worth the weight or the pain.
Amy, glad you are doing well at the gym. One always does feel better after a good workout!

The funny thing is...tomorrow I am going to go out and work in the yard..and spray some weeds!! hahaahaha Gardening is threapudic for me...I dunno why but it is like a great stress reliever.
I bowled tonight. That was good stress-relief...until my glasses acted up again. Had a 175 185 and a 116. No more bowling though for 2-3 weeks. Can't lift anything heavy and strain the eyes. Who woulda thought that lifting a bowling ball could affect your healing time?? Ahh well... I'll be doing jigsaw puzzles for a while instead then. Hahahaha
Jenaya: HEY girl how are ya!! I am glad to see you here!!!! I know what you mean about those chocolate sneaking in the house bunnies. My kid gets them too. Ugh...This year though hubby was nice and hid them from me so I didn't get tempted. Course tonight after bowling those two wanted to go eat at McDonalds..and I went...and I was a good girl I got a salad. I reallllllllllllllllllllllllly wanted a cheese burger...fries..and milk shake...but I didn't want to have it go to my boobs either so I passed.
Amy: I'm joining the gym in May. I can't wait!! I wanted to join sooner but it would of been a waste of $$ due to upcoming eye surgery. I hope I can reach my goal weight by Sept. 13th. Maybe the gym will help. :D

Good luck with the surgery. I am sure all will go well. I will be thinking of you and sending you warm wishes. I am with Seek, I think your home is clean enough to operate in, don't worry - you won't be able to see the areas to be cleaned for awhile and by the time you can, darling hubby and daughter will have it all tidied for you. As for the Nursing thing, there are many women who start their second careers in their forties and fifties - you are never too old! Good luck on Monday, heal fast.

Yeah Yeah...I promise after my eyes are all fixed I will go down to the college and enquire about this years pre-reqs. I did a silly thing couple of weeks ago..I bought an out of date nursing workbook...thought hey this might be interesting...and if I REALLY like it...then that should tell me something. Well I read it for about an hour and did some of the problems and had no problem so...maybe it's right for me. I have to go in with 100% devotion though or else I will not succeed. SO that's why Im getting all of this other stuff taken care of first. I know that you can get like 2-4 hours of homework a night and I need to make it so my life can handle that with 100% appliance, not 50%. I don't want to be a nurse that passes with a "C" average. Probably the straight "A" student in me, then more so because I are going to be taking other peoples lives and care into my own hands so...I darn well better know my stuff frontways and backways and all ways. But you get what I mean... :)

Hi everybody, Noodle's husband sent us a PM and said that the surgery went well!
Here's his note:
The surgery went great, the doctor was quite pleased with himself. She could see almost immediately afterwards. Aside from nausea and an occasional headache, she is doing fine.
As of now, she still has blurry vision at a distance, but no more double vision. She says there's only one of me now, so I guess I have to double-up on my chores to make up for it.
Anyhow, it may be a day or two more before you see her.

How is everyone doing? I know we are lost without our little Noodles here. Seek, Jennifer? Anyone out there?

I'm here! I've been really, really busy! I feel like I've hardly posted in the last two weeks. I started Body For Life about a week and a half ago and I've been studying and reading about that most of my online time. Spring is always hectic like this for me! This year it is busier. We're doing construction in our attic, plus I have a big 3FC project I'm working on, plus a new eating plan and exercise plan. I need 2 more hours a day!
Hopefully the results will pay off. I know surgery is inevitable on my ovaries this summer, so I'd like to be in the best possible shape before I get on the table.

Jenaya: I'm here, and finally broke my plateau, knock wood (raps forehead).
Jennifer: I'm not sure whether to say 'I'm sorry" or "Congratulations" about the ovary surgery. I must say I wasn't happy to get mine "done," but I'm glad of it now. Best of luck there.

Seek - YAHOO, congrats on breaking that plateau, you go girl! That must be a great feeling. I am teetering on the edge too and I hope to get into the "6's", albeit 100 lb higher than yours, real soon! Must be that new gym you are at and all the hard work you have done. Great job, I am happy for you!
Hello to all.

Jennifer: It's worth it. Surgery sucks, but the long term result from this surgery is just absolutely wonderful!!! I'd do it again in a heartbeat if I had too. Don't be afraid to ask for that lovely morophine pump if you feel any pain/discomfort. I had the Hysterectomy/Cauterization combo, so I needed it but I am not sure how the pain is with just the ovaries getting done. Hoepfully minimal!!
Hi rest of ya!! Missed ya!! :smug: I better get off of this thing. I went over my 2 hour allowance. :o Be back later...

Hi Noodles, glad to see you! Now go away! You better watch your time limits!
I do have to have surgery on June 2nd. No morphine for me, I'll be outpatient. I dread the low BP afterward. Maybe it won't be as low if I don't take pain pills. I didn't need it after my gallbladder. Once I could say no, I did.
I have a new cyst, and this one is a 3.6cm complex cyst. also on the same ovary that has the 3.9cm simple cyst that never seems to go away. I really don't like the sounds of a complex cyst, so that makes surgery seem a little more necessary!
