Question Need receipe for Low Fat cake PLEASE!

My husband and I are on Weight Watchers. I want to make him a cake for his birthday but I'm looking for one that is somewhat low in points but still tastes REALLY good. His favorite is yellow cake with chocolate frosting. Any suggestions? Is there a way to make the boxed cakes found in the grocery stores (Betty Crocker..etc.) lower in points by using sugar substitutes...etc? And, if so, how do I figure out the points? Thanks in advance!!

I don't know anything about points, but angel food cake doesn't have any fat.

You can make a boxed cake with unsweetened applesauce in place of the oil and that will lower the fat grams. Just substitute the same amount and if you use just the egg whites it helps on WW. You have to add up the points in the applesauce and the cake mix unprepared though. Sometimes I add an extra egg white just to cover the missing yokes. For the icing you can use a small box of sugar free chocolate pudding, 2 cups milk.....mix well...add 1 box cream cheese (room temp) beat until smooth. Not the same as regular frosting but only 30 cal and 2 fat grams.
I also have a carmel apple cake with topping that is only 8 WW points per serving if you want it. Hope this helps.

If you still need a recipe this is the one I use. You take a cake mix add a can of pumpkin and 1/2 cup water. Follow the directions on the box for mixing and baking. This is only 2 pts. for 1/18 of the cake. I have used this with a chocolate and spice cake and they were both great. I just topped it with coolwhip or drizzled ff icecream topping and coolwhip. Hope this is helpful.
