South Beach Diet - 5 lb challenge encouragementView Full Version : 5 lb challenge encouragement clovey 03-22-2004, 06:52 AM OK, there are around ten days to go. How is everyone doing?? It is not too late to get back on track if you wobbled over the weekend (I wobbled)! Just think - five pounds gone forever by April 1st!!! GavinsMom 03-22-2004, 07:37 AM Well, I'd love to go back to bed this morning but I'm heading to the Y to lift weights and play some raquetball. Even though I'm not really in the mood today, I am going to do it! Only 10 more days?!? We CAN do it and it'll be so worth the effort! (Any loss is positive!!!) I pledge to stay strictly OP for the next 10 days! :high: :goodscale Traci little chick 03-22-2004, 07:55 AM Morning chickies. It just is not going to happen for me unless someone has a roll of duct tape. Bluegrass Gyrl 03-22-2004, 08:03 AM I am hoping I can make it!! It's sure motivating after my wobbly w/e too!!! I just realized that I will be out of town on April 1. I hope the hotel has a work-out room and maybe a scale! ellis 03-22-2004, 08:18 AM I've got a big walk this morning to and from my psychi, then my second session with my trainer. And then 90 minutes of yoga tonight. If I don't lose 5 pounds today... justjodi 03-22-2004, 09:27 AM we can do this!!! just remember planning is key! i was watching a program on of all things food tv yesterday and they said people wo took the time to plan and follow through with healthy meals lost a significant (sp?) amount of weight over those who just tried dieting alone. this totally explians why i can be a perfect south beacher all week when i drag in my little lunch box to the office and then go to heck in a hand cart on the weekend when i am staring into the fridge at home. anyway hang in there!!!! Tahoemom 03-22-2004, 12:27 PM Justjodi, Thanks for the reminder of planning. I was just noticing that my fridge was pretty empty. In someways that is good, but I know it needs to be restocked with veggies and the all important s/f jello. The jello is the only way I can survive my sweet tooth. Good luck everyone, we can do it. Jennie527 03-22-2004, 01:00 PM Good Afternoon ladies! I have had a horrible WOE go this week. We had people in town staying with us and had 2 little parties at our house and it was a carb and cookie fest for me! I am back up to 224 so there is no way I am losing 9 lbs in 10 days! But I am gonna do my darndest to get back to 220! I too will be out of town on April 1st since its my b-day and my 5 yr anniversary so we will be in Gatlinburg, TN. OP for me for the next 10 days though! You can do it too guys! destructive.taste 03-22-2004, 02:18 PM im working my butt off at this literally.. so hopefully i can do it! RubensMuse 03-22-2004, 02:47 PM Well I had a 4 pound loss for the week, but if the scale is right, I WAS at 5 pounds down on Friday and managed to gain a pound BACK over the weekend!! Now I don't know if it was the 3.5 miles walk and the 3 mile bike ride on Saturday, that MAYBE it is muscle, BUT I am pretty sure it was the MISSED meals on both days that broke the losing enchantment :( chick_on_the_beach 03-22-2004, 05:55 PM Well I am back on track this week. I was so bloated and gave into my chocolate urges over the weekend but have been exercising twice a day since Sunday and the scales are 1kg (2.2 pound) lighter this morning so I am almost half way there. I have been using www.fitday.com to track my food consumption and exercise. I am burning about 2000 calories a day more than I am consuming which I am sure is not healthy but this SHOULD result in a loss of 2kg/4.4lb per week. In reality it doesn't quite work that way. clovey 03-23-2004, 05:25 AM Everyone is doing BRILLIANTLY!!!! We can do this. Only nine days to go now. Pennywise 03-23-2004, 11:52 AM Down 2.5 Lbs. for me, but I'm trying to think of something inspired to do with the chicken tonight. Maybe if the temp goes up to 40, I'll grill outside. We in Upstate NY have been told that we have odd ideas about appropriate weather, but some of us need our Cornell chicken BBQ fix. Jo GavinsMom 03-23-2004, 02:38 PM Keep up the great progress Chicks!!!! :strong: I know we can do it!! Don't get discouraged, any loss is positive! :goodscale Traci Bamiegurl 03-23-2004, 03:19 PM Well the time is drawin near and I have not dropped a pond off my rear! But I am stayin in it and drikin more water and eatin more veggies. I do have an out of town w-end coming up that involves my favorite Italian Bistro so I know I will have one off program meal. But that will be the only one and it is lunch so I'll drink a ton of water to help flush it out! haha This will be my first major off p meal since startin SBD. I think that is pretty good for me. I'll have to walk around my mom's complex after I get done if I'm able to move!. Even if I don't make the 5lb's I'm just happy to still be this happy with my new woe. We can do it Chickies! ButtBeGone 03-23-2004, 04:17 PM I am officially joining the challenge today. I think this is just what I need to get back on track. If the challenge was to gain 5 pounds I think that I would definitely be the winner since I am more than 1/2 of the way there and that's just since Sunday. It's just not worth it to put the weight back on. I would have to change my name to ButtBeBack... Good Luck to Everyone!!!! moonmirror 03-23-2004, 04:17 PM Ok chicks, here's five words of encouragement for everyone: shorts, bathing suit, tank top, sundress, miniskirt. Or as my husband says, "well honey, you just have to gut it out." Spoken like a true man...gut it out. I'm sure. Would you ever hear a woman say that? But that's what it feels like...gut growling...nerves on edge...grit your teeth...and say, no, I don't want the cookie. Please pass the salad. Cheers, five pound chicks!! MM Jennie527 03-23-2004, 05:47 PM It's just not worth it to put the weight back on. I would have to change my name to ButtBeBack... :lol3: I got on the scale this morning and 2 of the lbs I gained seem to have left as quickly as they came. i know there's no way I can hit the 5 lb loss mark but maybe I can lose a couple! RubensMuse 03-24-2004, 07:49 PM hellow ladies! I have been off a day or two since I have been sick with the MONO. I so have NO desire to eat. But I am making myself!!! I want to look good in JEANS again , you ones that aren't made by Just My Size. aka Just a Big A**. SoCalBirdLady 03-24-2004, 11:52 PM I haven't cheated, however, I am somewhat discouraged. My brand new scale can be two pounds off in the space of two minutes. So, I am going for the lowest weight it shows me. So far, in over two weeks, I have only lost 6 lbs (following the above rule). And, by our challenge deadline, I have two more to go. I have not been able to exercise as I have been working 12 hour days and have been getting over a respiratory infection that really blew me out of the water. Hopefully over the next week I can get in a little exercise as I am starting to feel a little better and I won't have the long days again until the third week of April. But, I am still hangin' in there! Clovey, thanks for pulling us in to check in on the challenge. clovey 03-25-2004, 06:05 AM Well, there is now one week to go. This is good news! We are all engaging to the BEST of our capacities with this. Some of us have more limited capacities at the moment than others, but we are all doing ACEly (if there is such a word). Someone on this board (cant recall who right now) has 'Progress not Perfection' on her signature. That is how I am framing this for myself. Progress not perfection. So one week left. If you drink loads of water and stick to the plan, you can still see a five pound loss on the scales. Some of us are a couple of pounds down already!! yippee!!! We are all so cool. justjodi 03-25-2004, 09:25 AM thats the right idea clovey we all want to see progress!!!! i weighed in this am (skipped the monday weigh in) i am down 1.5 not the greatest but i will take it. hang in there everyone just 1 week to go!!!! January 03-25-2004, 09:59 AM I'm down 2 lbs! Keep going girls! Jan mompen 03-26-2004, 01:55 AM Just wanted to say I am down 3.5 pounds so far!!! THANKS CLOVEY FOR STARTING THIS CHALLENGE!!!! THIS ONE IS NOT OVER YET AND I AM READY FOR ANOTHER ONE!!!! KEEP 'EM COMING!!! ellis 03-26-2004, 09:17 AM Doing great, girls! I think I'm down 4 pounds! RNMOM 03-26-2004, 01:26 PM I'm staying pretty slow with the weight loss, but I'm am down 2.5# I'm not going to complain about that! :) RubensMuse 03-27-2004, 08:43 AM Well everyone is having succes, just variations of it. After this challenge lets do another!!!! These smaller challenges are less dauting to acheive. Bird lady I hope you feel better soon! I have been less than 100% myself so I know how tough it is. Hang in there girl!!! All of us are doing GREAT!!!! I say on April 1 we calculate all of our loss pounds and post the total here!!! Then when we start the new challenge, we begin our thread with that number. Will REALLY look like Progress!!!! dynagrrl 03-28-2004, 08:12 PM I can't believe that in the midst of this challenge TOM would rear it's ugly head. Not that I think I would have been down five pounds, but now I am not sure. I guess I will just take what I get. Grrrr. vBulletin® v3.6.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
