Wow time for a new thread. Lots of conversation going on here.
Glenda you have found a lifestyle plan and you are working it. 1lb a week is good. You keep up the good work.
Lily - Happy Anniversary. How was the dinner. Would love to have the Morrocan chicken recipe.
Was a busy weekend. My friends dd got married. We decorated the hall Friday. I had to help out in church and fluff the dresses as they went down the isle. The mom walked her last dd down. The dad died last year. Even the kids performed well. The cake was outstanding. It was layered and plain. Decorated with fresh flowers and their initials in icing. They had chocolate covered strawberries too. The bride wanted ice cream (local specialty-Graeters black raspberry chip. Yummy.
Be back later,

G'day all,
What a memorable weekend! Our ds's cricket team won the grand final :cb: :cp: and after a very ordinairy season for him, he was named 'man of the match'. We were very proud
We attended the 60th celebrations of a friend on Sunday but left early to see the final stages of ds's cricket match.
After the match all the supporters were asked to come into the change rooms and celebrate with the boys. Speeches galore, the highlight for us was that our ds thanked us very publicly for all our support over the years, dh got all teary!! Being my birthday yesterday as well, he also got everyone to sing happy birthday. I wasn't quite that thrilled about that! :dizzy:
Our daughter-in-law is returning to Australia on Thursday after a very successful netball tour, won all the tests in South Africa and so far won 2 of the 3 tests in London. She plays her last match tomorrow.
What a house full of champions, I am the only 'normal' one :D :D
DH bought me a birthday present in Sydney, probably the only person who will understand my excitement is Lily, I got a 120 GIG external hard drive! I am very happy with it and it will enable me to very easily store my many photographs, last count I had some 9000 images on my laptop:eek:
Hope you all had a great weekend.........
Cheers

Ann been waiting for some information on your park. beginning to think they don't want us there. But more than likely ther is nothing available right now. I did find you on the map so plan on seeking you out anyway . We have been in contact with some people but they don't want to sell until next year. Too late need a house this year. Some of the ones we have seen on the net are just the ticket for use. Hope some are still there when we are able to travel down to have a look :dizzy:

Back again,
My son dropped in so needed to take some time with him. He was up with a friend using the rifle range. He and the friend are into guns :?: i don't get it but thats just me.
Also say dd today she was looking for her dd. And needed a base so her dd could call as soon as she got the word. Anyway visited a bit. Her new job is going well. There are a lot of bugs to work out because the business is new. They figure by August all should be up and running smooth. They have a contract with the hospital for a 72 hour turn around. (Transcribing) she was full of a lot of talk about computers and DSL hook ups and downloading stuff. She seems to like the new job and is learning a lot.
I am working this week for a friend. She is having to move her Mother into a nursing home. She has been in assisted living but is not remembering to do the important stuff. Bathe change clothes and stuff. It has been very hard on my friend and her brother The Mother is only 67 and is also deaf. So finding a nursing home was not easy for them. Anyway this is the week they are making the move. I feel sorry for all involved. So i start out workng tomorrow and will be on the road til Thursday again. Between her meetings and mine.
Things are going pretty good around here between SIL and DH and me. We get along pretty well. Wish SIL wouldn't worry about her health so much and just live. I think most of what is wrong is in her head. :?: But I think I told you all that before.Good thing she has good insurance. :dizzy:
Glenda so glad your life changes are working out for you. Taking meds is the pits that is for sure.
Marnie whats going on with you? Did you say you were reading DR.Phil's book?I have a copy and picked it up the other day and read pages 75,76,and 77. Positive self talking. (Sounds like a page out of my WW manual) ;) What he says is so true. What i have read of his book I agree with. And he has a way of saying what needs to be said and making you understand it.
Well now i'm going to get ready for bed.
Talk to you all later this week .

Lily thanks for the recipe. Going to try it soon when it is warm enough to grill. Love daffodils and wish it was blooming time for them here.
Karen you will see yourself coming and going this week. Sounds very busy.
Where is Ann? Did I miss something?

Hi Everybody
I didn't think it was that long ago that I was here but I can't believe all that has been going on. :dizzy:
Maria :balloons: Happy Birthday to you! It's nice that you were so pleased with your birthday gift from your husband. I can't believe that you have over 9000 images stored in your computer. LOL no wonder you were so excited with your new little "toy". :)
Lily :flow2: a very Happy Anniversary to you and your DH. Sounds like you guys had a wonder dinner celebration. :)
Karen so much for working less, but I guess it's just for a short period of time. You sure are a busy gal. How do you go about receiving information on places to buy in all the different senior parks?? Is there one particular place you can contact and get a list of all the parks and the places for sale?
Peggy the wedding you were at sounds like it was lovely. That's the wedding you did the little project for isn't it?
I will see Trudy tomorrow for tea time, so I am looking forward to that. Glenda I'm happy you are feeling good and off the meds that were giving you problems. Hi to Marnie and Ann what have you gals been up to?
I bought new lamp shades, and returned them...then bought different ones, and returned them too, now I have three more and they are looking good, so I will keep them. I have ordered some sheer curtains and will see how they will look on my windows. I may have to "make" my own curtain rod from a large wood dowel. Maybe I could talk Peggy into coming here and giving me hand. I am thinking I will paint the rod the same colour as my walls and then screw on finials in a brushed brass that will match my lamp bases. This is still just in my head but I am thinking that's what I will do as I can't find a curtain rod long enough. :(
Good night all....talk to you soon. :)

Slavika I agree, so much happens if you don't check in every day!
:balloons: :balloons: Maria and Lily Sorry I missed your special days. HAPPY BIRTHDAY and HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!! :balloons: :balloons:
Karen I'm almost finished with Dr. Phil's book. It is really worth reading: Common sense and no gimmicky plans or outrageous eating menus. BTW, when you move to Florida is your SIL going, too? I was wondering about that the other day.
For those of you who asked, yes, I'm getting the no-line bifocals. :mag: I went to the optician on Friday and along with our insurance and my AARP discount, my glasses are a lot less than if I did not have those "helps."
Glenda and Maria, great going on the weight loss. The last 2 weeks I've been down -.4 and -.6. It's kind of frustrating to lose in such small increments, but I'm determined to do it even if it takes another year!
I'll check back sooner! :coffee2:

G'day all,
Thank you all for your good wishes for my birthday :)
Marnie a loss, is a loss, is a loss ;) I understand (believe me!) it can be somewhat frustrating loosing in little increments but it stillo a lot better than gaining in little increments!
I am sure Dr. Phill's book would be very worth while reading, he certainly makes you look at things a little different.
Slavika I somewhat exaggerated about how many images I have stored on my computer, it is not 9000 but a mere 7983 :D ;) :dizzy:
I have them now all stored on my new external hard drive :)
Say 'hi' to Trudy, I miss her posts.
Lily sounds like you had a great anniversary with a visit to 'Daffodil Hill'.
How many years have you been married? We are coming up 34 years in May ......it seems like only yesterday we got married but in other ways when we think about all the things we have done and that have happened over that time, it has been a long time!
Karen you do have a very busy life! I hope your move will work out and you are able to move to the park where you would like to be. Pleased also that things are settling down with your s-i-l. It was a pretty courageous and kind on you and your dh's part to offer a home to his sister.
I am a little lost about your dd, is she setting up her own business :?:
I am with you on guns and I am very pleased that we have very strict gun laws. I find the views of Charlton Heston in regards to guns totally incomprehensible.
Peggy I have also been wondering where Ann is. She is usually a regular poster, hope all is well.
It is a glorious day here once again, 30 degrees. :)
Our daughter in law is coming home tomorrow and I have planned a big family dinner as a welcome. She is arriving at 6 am so will sleep most of the day.
She is looking forward to a home cooked meal so I have decided to do a roast. Her mother is bringing dessert which is very yummy, lots of fresh mixed berries with a sauce that consist of equal amounts of melted white chocolate and cream mixed together. :p
Have a great day all,
Cheers

Glenda, I fogot to tell you yesterday that I have Oklahoma State in the Final Four. I have UCONN winning, but I hope OK State makes it. :cheer:
Lily, I read through the Moroccan Chicken recipe; thank you. I think I could do that one. I don't use cilantro, cumin or tumeric, but I might just get them to try this. :eating2:
Slavika, I admire your tenancity in finding the right lamp shades. I hope you're getting your decor matched up the way you want it. How about if you and Peggy come and help me with my house? :coffee2:

Marnie: It all counts no matter what the loss. Your doing great! No Cilantro? I love the stuff! :) The real recipe called for Saffron. Which I will not buty as it is so expensive. Someone told me to use Tumeric instead for anything that called for saffron.
Slavika: Your still busy redorcoating I see. Are you just about done?
Maria:  on the images you have. I probably have just as many plus 2 cds full :) We have only been married 17 years.
Karen: Sounds like you are doing lots of meetings this week. Glad things are still going well with SIL.

Hi everyone: I have just been reading and reading trying to catch up with everyone. Belated best wishes for Birthday and Anniversary. I have just been generally relaxing since I am no longer the chairperson. Then we traveled to South Florida to visit DH brother and SIL. We had a nice visit with them but would never want to ive in that area. Traffic, traffic, traffic. We are very happy here in Central Florida.
Karen: Sorry you haven't heard anything from our office. I'll go down and see what has happened.
Everyone sounds so busy and also doing well in the weight loss department. Not so with me. Since I have started taking a BP medicine, my metabolism has slowed down, i think, and it seems impossible for the weight to go down even a little. But I am not giving up. ;) At least most of the time.
The Morrocan Chicken sounds good, but I can't do red pepper flakes. Would it matter if you left that out? Also liked the sound of the chicken rice soup. How would fat free half and half work for the recipe?
My remedy for cracked fingers is good old Vicks Vaporub. Every night I slather it on my hands and then put on the gloves. Also keeps my sinuses clear :D Just kidding, but it really does work on the cracks. Better than any other cream I've ever tried. I use it as long as I need to, to get the cracks healed.
Maria: Our house is what is refered to as Manufactured housing. It is small, two bedrooms, two baths, living room and dining area combined sort of in an L shape and then a small kitchen. Also have a screen porch. Just right for me, since I hate to clean house, and this doesn't take too much time. They are building alot of those 'monster' houses around here. I'd feel like I needed a maid to keep everythink tidy.
It is interesting that we all had to work our way up in our quests for homes, etc. but I think that since we were then able to give much to our children, they just think that they have to start where we are finishing. And they sacrifice so much with both working, and not very much time for their children. I often wonder if the sacrifices are worth it, when the kids begin to have so many problems. I wonder about those children who have their own T.V. room and living room. What sort of influences will they be getting from their parents and what from their viewing habits?
I'm getting new glasses too. And I know what you mean about them being pricey. I waited until Sears came out with a coupon for two pairs of glasses for $99. Of course I had to add tint and UV protection but even at that it was a good deal. Mine are going to be rimless around the lower edge. I think it does open up a persons face a lot, and shows ones eyes more. I tried the lineless glasses several years ago, and couldn't wear them at all. They made everything look curved. The piano keys, and typewriter keyboard, all with a big curve. I tried and tried to get used to them but to no avail. The optometrist said that some people just can't wear them. That is wierd me :lol3:
We had a St. Pats dinner and dance here in the clubhouse. We ate the corned beef but did not stay for the dance. My DH is a concientious objector to dancing.
I had a stroke of luck. We had a ladies lunch and fashion show, with door prizes, and I won a $25 gift certificate from the store. Now I won't be able to say that I never win anything. ;)
Just saw on this mornings news a picture of a 16 year old with a bomb vest strapped to his chest, and they were able to get him to cut it off. It seemed he was manipulated to do this by some faction. I just don't understand that kind of hatred, like the bombing of the trains in Spain.
Guess I've rambled on long enough. But I promise not to stay away so long from now on. There was too much to catch up with. Hope I haven't forgotten
anything important. Ann

Hi Everybody congrats to you Marnie at least your weight is going in the right direction. I on the other hand don't seem to be doing much of anything. My DH is having trouble too, getting off the few pounds that he wants to. He told me this morning that if he didn't get some weight off he would have to start buying new clothes. I told him we just have to try harder and I would also make us "lighter" meals. I get the Weight Watcher News letter every Monday, and this last Monday they had a recipe called Orange Chinese Chicken. I made it and it was excellent. It was simple to make and uses a can of Mandarin orange slices. :chef:
Ann it was nice reading your post. I've missed seeing you on the board.
Manufactured housing.........do you mean a mobile home (that can be moved) or do you mean actual houses that are built someplace else and then moved to the location that you want? Are there a lot of these houses in the parks in Florida? I guess this winter DH and I will have to make a decision as to where we would like to live during the winter months and start looking. Lily I am still trying to finish off the living room/dining room. I don't want to spend too much more money on this project, as we will want to buy something further south this year, but I still want it to look nice. Lamp shades are not expensive........the ones I got were around $50.00 each. Two of the shades are the same and the one that is different I thought I would glue beads around the bottom of the shade. That seems to be in right now. I also need to buy a couple of new pictures. I need pictures in our bedroom and I also would like a new one in the livingroom.
It's coming together though. :)
Maria earlier in the week when I was shopping I saw someone had put up a card advertising their motor home for sale on the cork board in the entrance of the store. I should have written down the details, because of course now I forget but I thought it was $17,000.00. My DH walks that way in the evening and I will get him to check it out as to year, make, model, etc and let you know. I was thinking if you had your heart set on travelling in a motor home maybe you should consider buying a USED one, travel in it, and then at the end of your holiday, sell it for the same amount you paid for it or even a bit more. When you rent a motor home you have to return it to the same place your rented it from which would mean going back the same way you had come. However, if you bought a used motor home, (there would not be any depreciation on it because it is NOT new) and would not depreciate for the short time you would have it. By buying a used one, you would eliminate the high cost of renting one for your holiday. I think though, you would have to plan on buying and selling it in the same country. I mean if you bought it in Canada, then plan your trip to end someplace Canada, so that you could sell it and then just get on a plane to take you back home. It's a bit of a hassel to buy cars and motor homes etc in Canada and then sell it in the USA. :(
Talk to you all later. Bye now.

Slavika: Our house came in on wheels in two halves, and then was put together. It could be moved, but it would be a big pain. There are many places like ours and in different sizes. There are also parks with the houses that come in all apart and then are put together on the lot. And then a lot of new block houses. We have all sorts.
Your remodeling project sounds like it is all coming together.
It is nice to know I was missed. I promise not to be so tardy anymore. Ann

Slavika I would love to come and help you decorate. Then you could show me how to make slipcovers and all the nice sewing stuff you do. If you have time would you post the recipe for the chicken. It sounds good. I like to put mandarin orange slices in my salads.
Ann you were missed. Now I will think of you everytime I see a half of a manufactured house going down the highway to its destination. I have seen pictures of the insides and they are really nice. That is a good deal on the glasses. They can be so expensive by the time you get everything added on.
I went to an exercise class at the senior center. I thought it would be easy-NOT! I am sore and tonight is my circuit night. Going to canasta afterwards so if I work hard I can have a few snacks.
Marnie I think I have UConn going all the way. But a lot of the teams I had are out already. Lot of upsets. It is nice to see your home teams do well.
Got to run and get ready for some more exercise.

G'day all,
Lovely to 'see' you Ann, sounds like you have had a busy time.
Your description of your home is not something we really have here. It will be interesting to see all these differences when we do our trip.
Slavika Very interesting about the motor home, we thought they would be a lot more expensive. We are still thinking they would be the best option.....but who knows we may well change our mind again a few times before we make the trip.
Sounds like you are having fun finishing your decorating.

Hi Everybody :coffee:
Maria the reason you thought that motor homes cost more then I said is because they do!! I told DH what I told you and he showed me a book with motor homes for sale ...and even used ones can run to $40,000.00 to $60,000.00. :(
I asked him to check the board at the market anyway and he did. LOL LOL, it was NOT a motor home it was a used trailer that somebody had parked at a lake and used it as a "summer cottage". :D Sorry about the mis-information. :o
Ann thank you for the information on your home. Your house is the kind I would like to have, and it's what I call a "mobile home". That was the kind that my aunt and uncle had in the park in Texas. Their's was not a double wide, however, it was very long, and had two bedrooms, two bathrooms, small laundry room, and then the living room and a kitchen. The kitchen window faced the front of the mobile home and that is where she had her table. Something like that would just be perfect for us and hopefully in our price range. :)
Peggy wouldn't it be great if we all lived near each other so that we could give each other a hand......with all the talent on this board we would all be in great shape. :goodvibes
I have picked up my curtains, and the colour is good (oyster) I just need to do a bit of sewing on them so that the tops will fit the bigger designer rods. I will pick up the wood dowel rod and paint it tomorrow, and then get the brackets put up. I think that will work just fine. :)
I'll post the chicken recipe separately. Bye now.

WEIGHT WATCHERS ORANGE CHINESE CHICKEN
Ingredients:
2 tsp dark sesame oil (I just used olive oil)
4 -4 oz. boneless, skinless chicken breasts
Salt and Pepper
15 oz can of Mandarin Oranges in light syrup
1/2 cup fat free chicken broth
1 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce ( I used much less)
2 tsp cornstarch
Instructions:
Heat oil in large nonstick skillet. Season both sides of chicken with salt and pepper, add chicken to skillet and cook until golden.
Drain oranges and reserve 1/4 cup liquid. Add oranges with the reserved liquid to skillet and simmer for another 2 minutes. Whisk together broth, soy sauce and cornstarch in a small bowl; add mixture to pan and simmer until sauce thickens and chicken is cooked through, about 3 minutes more. ***** put the orange slices in right near the end so that they don't get all mushy looking. It makes a nicer presentation. :)
YIELD: One chicken breast plus 1/4 cup sauce per serving.
SERVINGS: 4
POINTS: 5 points each.

G'day all,
We thought it was too good to be true Slavika :D :D :D Now we know Canada is like everywhere else and not the heaven of cheap motorhomes that we thought it was for 5 minutes ;)
I agree between the lot of us, our skills are quite diverse and how good it would be to all meet regularly at 'tea time' to do some sharing of those skills.
For the time being this forum will have to suffice. :)
I have had a busy few days. We had a great family dinner on the return of d-i-l from overseas. She brought me a beautiful painting from South Africa, it is difficult to explain but once framed I will take a photo and post it to share.
DD going through a bit of a 'down' time for no specific reason. Spoke to her on the phone for over 2 hours, she just misses us a lot and wished she was living in Adelaide so she could pop in whenever she felt like it. I think it might also be a good idea if she chucks out her psychology books and stops analysing every aspect of her life!
It is nice that we are so close and she can talk to me about anything and everything, something I was never able to dowith my mother. It is quite amazing how similar we are.
We are leaving on Tuesday for Melbourne to attend her graduation when she receives her double degree in psychology and nursing.
By now you probably all read my email about the weird emails some of us have been receiving, all very strange. DH has no idea how Lily got to receive an email from him with an attachment that certainly looks very much like a virus. :?: :dizzy:
I have run my virus checker to just make absolutely sure there are no viruses present on my computer and I am happy to say, I am 'clean'. ;)
HAve a great weekend and watch out for those viruses!!

I cannot believe it! I did it again! Lost another long post. Anyway, I will get to the short version. We got a new grandson last Wednesday. Our DIL was induced last Wednesay. She invited her mother and me to watch, so we saw little Jackson David come into the world. He weighed 7 3 and is just fine. What an emotional time. When I held him, he peed all over me. Told him I will be really important to him soon.
Maria - You are going to have a lot of surprises when you visit us. It really sounds like people aren't that much different, but we have a lot of different "things" we take for granted. Can't wait to meet you.
Marnie - I know all about slow weight losses. I am the champion in that department. Seems like I am usually a little loose when I have that problem with counting points or don't drink the water or exercise. But, relax, it will come off eventually. And the important thing is that you feel better while going down.
Lily - Daffodil Hill? Sounds delightful. We had some cut daffodils in the office 2 weeks ago--a fundraiser for cancer. It was so great seeing such bright colors for a while. I think we are all starved to color--green grass and early flowers. Happy anniversary!
I have lost 12 pounds exactly so far, but don't feel that I have lost anything this week. Shall see tomorrow. Saturday morning at 8 o'clock. Can you believe it, but I wouldn't miss for anything. And I stay for every meeting.
Well, got to go. All of you, I really had personal responses to most of you, but can't rewrite that all again. I went out to find this new website that has so many restaurants with their points on their choices. You might already know about it---www.dwlz.com
You have to hit "restaurants", but it is an eye opener, for sure.

Maria: I thought it was stange that your DH would email me. That was my first clue as to deleted it :) Im always clean my virus checker runs non stop :)
Glenda: Congrats on the New Grand son! Love that name they picked out to. Bet it was great to watch! I love any kind of flower. Congrats on your loss! You are doing so good!

Hi everyone. I'm glad my virus checker (Norton) is constantly checking too. I seem to get at least one every day, sometimes two. How can you stop them?
Slavika: There are two parks here with the single-wide homes like you describe. They call ours a double wide. And all the homes here are like that. It is just all we need. We do have a very nice park, lots of trees, and flowers, and of course a lot of lovely people.
Glenda: Congrats on the new grandson. And how 'cool' that you got to see, and to hold him right away. I'm sure that won't be the last time you get peed on.
We have had a sad day today. One of our dear friends has been diagnosed with bone cancer. They come from England, and so their temporary insurance insists they go home, since they have gov. subsidy medical service. Today they were supposed to go, and they got to the airport, by ambulance, only to find that the plane wasn't equipped to take him in his condition. So they brought him back to the hospital, and now they have to go by ambulance to Miami to fly out from there and that is a 4 or 5 hour trip. What a big screw-up. It seems the right hand didn't know what the left hand was doing.
I think I lost about 1lb. today, as I had my hair cut."D" It was so shaggy. It really looks quite nice now.
Guess it is time for bed. Hope to see tomorrow. I look forward to a Florida tea time.

G'day all,
Glenda how gorgeous to be almost the first one to hold your new grandson. My dd said, when she witnessed her first birth, that she coudln't believe how emotional the whole experience was. She said she had a few tears in her eyes and she never knew the woman!!!
I like the name.
Well done on the loss, I have lost 9 lbs now and feeling so much better. I don't know why, but the ridiculous binge urges have disappeared. :dizzy:
I need to check out the website you posted.
Lily My dh is a friendly fellow but not quite that friendly to send emails to women he does not know. :D
Mind you having said that, he does feel that he know you all a bit as well and is looking forward to meeting you all.
Ann how sad about your friend , how long had they been in America? To have such an awful diagnoses and then to have to leave your home etc., it is just awful.
I also have my virus checker in the background but I still get it to scan my 'C' drive on demand when I get a bit concerned.
I just got a pohone call so I will go and take that........
Cheers

Hi Everybody :)
We sure got a lot of rain today....even some thunder and it was very LOUD. That will help get rid of some of the dirty snow.
Ann are the double wides shorter in length then the single ones but much wider? That is very sad about your friend having bone cancer and being so far from home. I have a cousin who has (had) bone cancer and last year he had a bone marrow transplant and is doing not too badly. He is in remission now. The cancer ate away part of his one thigh bone so he had to have an operation where they put in a metal plate to help support the bone that was left. He walks with a cane now but he was in a wheelchair in the beginning. He is 64 years old....and has been through a lot with that cancer but things are really looking up for him now. Glenda congrats on the arrival of your new grandbaby. I love the name Jackson too. I guess seeing your grandbaby being born is an experience that you will treasure forever.
I made the Weight Watcher Brownie recipe today. I haven't made it for such a long time and I don't know why because it is really good and pretty low in points.
Lily and Maria I bought the Norton Antispam software today. I am sick of getting all that stupid spam in my mailbox. Some of it is really disgusting too!
Well gang, I guess that's my little bit of news. Talk to you all soon....... :coffee:

G'day all,
After many weeks of glorious weather but no rain :( , we finally had some rain yesterday afternoon and last night :cp: . Our garden has an automatic water sprinkler system but nothing is as good as rain. Amazing how a down pour can transform the garden so quickly, everything looks greener and brighter this morning :)
Off to the podiatrist this morning and then home to pack the car for a very early start tomorrow morning to travel to Melbourne. We ended our daylight saving this weekend, nice to have that 'extra hour'. We will have the alarm set for 4 am and hope to get to Melbourne by early afternoon.
Slavika I am sure Lily will tell you the same but unfortunately there is very little you can do about spam. I would be interested to hear how you find the Norton antispam software, Norton being a well known and respected name in this type of software.
What I do to reduce spam is.........
I join up with many forums etc. etc., any that I suspect I will get spam from I give a hotmail address as my email address so all the spam goes there. I have about 4 hotmail addresses all under different names, I don't even bother to check any mail there and eventually hotmail just deletes the account when there has been no action on my part.
There is really very little spam I get at the address you all have. The weird emails at the moment I don't regard as spam so much but a twisted, sick attempt by virus makers to infect my computer.
I will call back later this afternoon before packing up my computer....
See ya all,
Cheers
Maria

I don't know where the time goes. It is beautiful here. My daffodils are blooming like crazy. Have to go pick some and some sunshine inside.
Glenda congrats on the new grandson. Jackson must be the name of the moment. My friend had a new grandson and he also a Jackson. Been hearing that name a lot lately. I think he baptized you when he peed on you.
Slavika thanks for the chicken recipe. It sounds good and easy. I see you got a dowel. I just remembered when I was at a party in one of those million dollar homes in Michigan a few years ago that they had drapery treatments on PVC pipe. It was all covered and you would never know. It was a beautiful house-after being married for about 15 years and 2 boys the doctor decided he was gay. It was a sad thing.
Maria I have been getting some strange email too. I get so much spam in my yahoo account. I run Norton all the time. Interesting to hear how Slavika likes the Norton anti spam program.
I think Ann's park sounds wonderful and it has Ann. What more could you want. Those manufactured homes are really nice. I think they are bigger than my house.
Okay now I am getting serious about losing weight. Been playing around way too long. Summer will soon be here and I have to get rid of the spare tire.

Ann: Spam: Only way to stop them is get a new email address. But they will appear again. Dont know how they get the email addresses but they do. Sometimes they do get picked up from Forwarding emails.
So sorry to hear about your friend. What a shame that he has to take such a long trip to get back home :(
Maria: wow you are doing so good! 9 # is awesome! I do the same with the free emails. My Yahoo account must get at least 200 a day. They are pretty good about putting it in the bulk mail folder tho so I just empty it with out even looking. Really hate Spam. Should be a No spam list, like the no call list. :) Actually there was one but it doesnt work
Slavika: Let me know how that Norton Antispam works. I get alot of spam to. Sure do hit the delete button more than I read any mail
But I have 2 free email accounts that they go to. My ISP addy is safe as it has never been given to anyone except family.
Peggy: I agree those manufactured homes are very nice. I have seen several that are very nice. Some are huge! Just love daffodils. Mine already bloomed and died :(
Was DH Birthday this week end. I took him out to dinner. And we went for a very nice drive yesterday. was very Pretty. Stopped at one of those Indian Casino's to have lunch as there was no other place around. This place was as big as some one the ones in Las Vegas. DH said it makes about 6 million in a week. Just dont understand all the gambling I guess. Got better things to do with my money.

Hi Everybody: This has been a busy weekend. Our pastor of 18 years is leaving, yesterday was his last Sunday, so it was a special service, and then a reception afterwards for them. Our search team was in charge of the reception, and so I about ran my legs off, changing food plates, etc. I don't even know what I ate, as it was all on the run. A sort of bitter sweet day, as we do have a new Pastor coming May 1st. And it has all been a very positive process.
An up date on our friend. They spend 6-8 months at a time here from England. Then go back, maintaining their residence, see family etc, and then back again. They have been doing this for about 6 or 7 years. We have all become more like family to them and they consider this home. But because of the Socialized medicine, when there is a problem, they have to go home to England. They always have a separate insurance for emergencies and that is what is taking care of things now. They never did go to Miami, and are still here, having more Dr. conferences, etc. There is some thought that he may have a pinched nerve in the spine from the surgery, so we are hoping that they can get a second opinion from a neurosurgeon, who could maybe fix it. It is a very frustrating time for them both, and he has always been very active, and to just have to lay there is bad. And all these ambulances and flights etc. are quite costly for the Insurance co. And we all know they are about saving money.
Slavika: Our houses are wider that the ones you describe. But there is a connecting park to ours that are all what we call 'single side' mobile homes. We have friends who live there. They have some very nice units. Because some people call our homes 'trailers' that is why the idea of manufactured houses as a name came about. I can't think of anything more fun to have a Florida chapter of the feisty and Sexy gals.
Glenda and Maria: How great that you are have weight loss. I just seem to stay the same and that is not what I really want to do. Frustrating.
All your talk of daffodils makes me a bit nostalgic. I love daffodils and naricissus and all those lovely spring flowers. Of course they don't grow down here. But we do have other things to compensate.
Right now we are growing a pineapple. They do take a long time. The plant is on it's second year, but now we have a pineapple about the size of an orange coming. It has been a fun experience.
Lily: I'm with you on the gambling craze. And there are so many people who are as addicted to that as drugs and alcohol. and it destroys them. When we go on a cruise we take $20 each and just have fun on the slots. But if I win, I quit. This last time I came home $60 ahead. But that doesn't happen very often. More likely is to drop the $20 in just a few minutes and then we are done.
I have a dream. If we get all this clever group together in Fl. we can start our own craft shop.   And those who aren't here, can send your contributions. Now how wild is this?
Marnie: You do quilts so quickly, that would be a great contribution. And no, I haven't been smoking any funny stuff! :p
Peggy: I think you should be the manager, since you have so much experience. ;)
Karen: With all your experiece with bookkeeping with WW that would be a good job for you.
Trudy: Really - I'm not completely cuckoo. Just a little bit
:lol3:  :blah: Oh well, fun to dream.
See you tomorrow Ann

Ann I love your dream ;) It would really be fun to have a 50&60 chapter there in Florida. And the craft shop idea would that be great! Wonder how much work we get done :coffee: breaks and all.
Glenda congrats on the new GS. And your weight loss efforts look good. :goodscale
Maria your too . I'm glad to see you on a down ward trend. :goodscale I was just watching again on the new how weight loss can help prevent some forms of cancer. I would like to see us all very healthly to a ripe old age :D
Slavika haave you gotten your curtains done yet? :?: Or did I miss that? We are looking for a double wide home like Anns. Would be nice to find one with 2 Florida Rooms also. One for DH and Me and One for SIL so she can entertain friends herself. Been teasing her about all the men who will be lining up at the door after she gets her bottem teeth and finishes losing weight.
Went to line dancing today learned the Electric Slide  And one other i've forgotten the name.
Ann your park sounds like such fun. I sure hope we are able to find something in the area. As I told you we will be looking in your park for sure. I want to be involved in the goings on where ever we decide to settle. Ann hope things turn out well for your friend. and sorry to hear that your losing your Pastor that is always hard.
This is DH last full month of work. He will be on vacation as of May 10. Retirement date is July 30. He is so looking forward to walking away from his job.
I just finished my exercise tape and now i want to go watch some TV not shre what maybe thoe FOOD channel
See you all later

Hi Everybody :)
I have a few things to get done this morning before I can sit here at my computer but I just wanted to say that I too, have a Hotmail addy that I use when I am away mostly, because it is easier to do that then through my usual email/internet server. I love that Hotmail only allows the addresses I provide to get into my mail box. NO SPAM.
It seems that lately I have just had a run of SPAM in my regular mailbox. One of the other internet providers we have have here in the City has set up system that stops the spam from getting into their customer's inbox but my provider is still working on setting up a system. I was just going to wait until my provider had an antispam system but then I saw that Norton had a GREAT rebate offer on their software so I decided to get it. The offer was $40.00 off the price of the Antivirus for Canadians (we pay more for software then US customers). I looked to see if there was a similar offer for US customers and there is. The cost of the software in the US is around $39.95US (maybe less in some places) and the rebate offer for US customers is $30.00 so your program would only cost around $10.00. So far I think it is great. When you install the program it will automatically download your address book into the "Allowed" mail and you can also add to this list. The SPAM that comes in is automatically tagged as SPAM and sent directly to your deleted folder. If something has been tagged as spam and it is something you wanted, you can still retrive it from your deleted folder. The antispam system "learns" what is spam and what is not on your computer as it goes along. The program also gets rid of some of the pop up ads and banner ads.
If you want to check it out just go to Symantec Store and you print off the rebate offer COUPON there too.
Those of you with a couple of different email addresses seem to be handling the spam ok without the software.
I still have to walk on my treadmill so I better get going.
It's tea time today, and here I sit in my housecoat at the computer like I have nothing to do today.

Wow! Leave for a few days and you girls talk, talk, talk. First of all, Ann, you don't want me in your craft bunch. I did all that years ago and still have the scars from the glue gun to show for it. But it was fun. Maybe when not working those things could come back. Sounds like you had a very positive changeover for your pastor. Sometimes these kinds of changes can be hard.
About gambling, we have several Indian gambling places around here. And I have never understood the attraction, but they are always so busy. I have never even been inside one. I might have addictions (caffeine, smoking, which I have so far conquered), but gambling will never be one. As my mama used to say, "Never say never," but we honestly don't have that much spare money to throw away.
We saw our new baby Saturday. He is doing fine. I am more worried about the parents than him. Austin is such a handful. I am so glad God gives young people children, aren't you? Our little granddaughter Makenzie is such a little girl. I swear she read The Book on how to be a little girl before she was born. She does those little demure things like dipping her head when she looks at you and offering her little hands to you in the most feminine way. Everything she does is "soft."
Our WW class is down in attendance lately. It was so busy at the first of the year and people are dropping out like crazy. Is that the way it goes usually?
