Default Cake Alert! Cake Alert!

Danger Will Robinson, Danger Will Robinson Cake Alert

My boss, bless his heart just put the largest piece of vanilla and cream cake on my desk. It was one of the girls birthdays today and I very carefully stayed away from the ever popular round of "Happy Birthday" and the cake. When I saw what was on my desk I screamed like I had seen a mouse and when people came running I just pointed and said get that off my desk (I think I scared some people).

I am only on Day 9 of Phase 1 and this was my first test, I have just eaten my afternoon snack and need some encouragement to get through the rest of the afternoon. I was doing so good up to this point. Damn Birthdays

Good job!!!!

You're WAY better off not even tasting it. If you're anything like me, just one little taste, and, well, it wouldn't be pretty (picture a redhead sneaking and scarfing birthday cake all day to the point of nausea).

I gotta agree with moonmirror. I tell myself "I just want one little bite" But when it tastes really good, I'm in trouble. It's much easier to say no to the first bit than it is to the second bite.

Good on you for sticking to your guns. I find this difficult because some people can get so offended when you say no! Now that I have withdrawn from carbos and don't tend to crave these things I can say "I'm not really a cake person but cut me a little sliver and I will try it" then drink LOADS of water with your teeny little slice. I find people are less pushy if you have a little bit. But the emphasis is on getting given a teensy bit not trying to eat a teensy bit and leaving the rest (don't think I could do that!)

you know, I get tired sometimes of pushy food people. Why does it matter that I choose not to eat something? I want to be selfish for once. Selfish about my body and my health.
Last night we went to a birthday party. I knew there'd be pizza, beer, and cake. I brought chili made with lean ground beef and kidney beans and told everyone it was for my daughter because of her dairy allergy. I ate the chili and that's all. You know what? Nobody noticed. And nobody really cared. I was happy because I stayed on plan, left with a light stomach and no guilt. Its my body!! Dangit!! I'll put what I want into it!!

I thought maybe if people push, I'd tell them I'm a "recovering fatso." Its ok to be a recovering addict, why not fatso? Do people even say fatso anymore? Maybe that's outdated.

Good job on the pass. I would not have to worry about sayin no to anything if DH is around. He's always can you eat that can you eat that! It gets so irritating. If only he was so worried about what he ate!
