Welcome to a thread devoted to women who have the priviledge of taking care of our families while winning the battle to control our weight and have better health! Feel free to join right in! We look forward to getting to know you better!

Sorry the title looks goofy. I tried to bold it but it didn't work :( So, I'm an idiot

I watched "I am Sam" last night. Very good movie...very touching. Tonight will be "Chicago" then we're back to no movie channels.

What's for dinner tonight? We're having pork tenderloin.

03-14-2004, 05:35 PM
Hi again!
Geri thanks for starting the new thread!! I'm not sure what I wil be having for dinner tonight. I'm going over to my DH's cousins house for the evening and we'll have dinner over there. If it is very high pts stuff (which it probably will be because she likes to fry alot and they don't eat veggies) then I'll nibble and eat when I get home. But I'm about to head out, today will be my very first tanning session!!! I'm so excited to start on my tan for summer. So I will post again before I go to bed, I hope everyone is having a great weekend, but I must say I can't wait until monday starts. TTYL!

Hi Ladies! Sounds like everyone has had a full weekend :)

I took the kiddos to a St. Patricks Day parade, McDonalds and a bday party yesterday. Then today they went w/ grandparents to a church party. So they had a full weekend.

I am very tired this weekend and have been off track :(
I will get back on in the morning. Weekends always screw me up :(

Have a great Sunday,
I'll check in later :)

Hey! Just a quickie. I am still suffering with this ear infection. I don't think I've been getting the rest I need. My cousin was in town this weekend so I spent the evening at my mom's and this morning we went to the meeting then tooled around downtown. It was a nice visit but I really should have been in bed!!! I haven't seen her since Sean was a baby though so I really needed to spend some time with her. We aren't very close due to the fact that we have never lived near each other (she used to live in MO but now lives in Jacksonville, FL). Anyhows, Andrea, so good to hear from you but I am so sorry about your credit woes! We had similar situation with our American Express back in 1999 when Hurricane Floyd came through. We were both new at our jobs and had to take a week off unpaid to escape the hurricane and it really messed us up. I ended up cancelling the card and switching the balance to another card. Hope you can figure some way out. Do you own your home? There might be some kind of loan you could get to consolidate and lower the interest. Also, I never went to college but I started out with a temp agency and got placed at a dr's office where I gained experience and was able to get a better job paying more but I know all that takes time that you really don't have right now. Just know we're thinking about you and hoping it all works out! Ginny, hope your hubby finds what he is looking for so you can get some peace!!! Geri, glad you enjoyed the cake and at least it wasn't the corner!!! I am not an icing girl myself so I alway opt for a middle piece and scrape off the icing! Penny, hope you get some rest!!! Sounds like you've been busy! Spryng, hope you have a good evening at your cousin's house! Your 6 week plan sounds good. I need something to jumpstart me after I get better. Maybe I'll try it too! Hi Ricci, Melinda and anybody else I missed! I'm gonna try and get some work done but will probably end up on the couch! At least my office is clean, that always makes it nicer to be in here! Hope we can all get back on plan tomorrow!!! Have a good evening!

03-15-2004, 10:51 AM
Good morning.
Sounds like everyone had a good weekend. Geri thanks for starting the new thread.
Saturday, dh took us to golden corral for breakfast, and I actually did pretty well. I had a veggie omelet, and then fruit. I probraly ruined it though with the butter pecan frozen yougurt. It was so good though. We went shopping at walmart, and dh did not throw a fit about the whole wheat spaghetti, or the brown rice. We'll see if he actually eats it though.
I was wondering if any of your kids got the prevnar vaccine when they were younger. It helps keep the occurance of ear infections down. Those of you with older kids probraly didn't, because its only a few years old. Both of my boys got it, and it was wonderful. I think they each only had one ear infection since.
I did get in my pilates yesterday. I went to church fo the first time in about a year. I have been looking for a church to go to, and the ones I went to before just didn't seem right. Well, this one seems right, so I think I will go back next week. Cute kid story: They have children's church here, and before the kids leave, the pastor gives them a kid sermon, with a ventriliquist (sp?) dummy. I was sitting on the very back row, and Eric went down front to listen. Suddenly, when only the pastor was talking, Eric comes flying down the aisle and yelling, "Mom, he has a puppet!" and then ran back up there. Everyone got a good laugh from that. I hope every one has a good day.

03-15-2004, 11:27 AM
Good morning all!
Ricci, I don't know if my kids got that vaccine or not, I don't think they did though. I've never heard of it. But it sounds like a great thing! That is so cute about your son and the puppet :) That is a great way to get kids involved. I do that also when I want to talk to my kids about something important like morals and such... I will set up my dd dollhouse and use her dolls and put them in the situation I need resolved or to talk about and let me kids tell me what should happen and what is the right solution, it really works out well with them and I think because it was visual and something they can relatre to they understand things better at their young ages.
Candy, so glad you got to spend some time with your cousin! And I hope you get some rest today so that ear will finally clear up. And I think it is great that you want to do that 6 week challenge with me. I won't start it until april 9th though. So it gives us a few more weeks to get ready for it.
Penny, sounds like your weekend was busy! I hope you are able to get back OP today.
I enjoyed my visit at dh's cousins house last night. We went and tanned first and that was a new experiance for me. I only did it for 5 min because I didn't want to burn and mostly nude (just wore a thong) sorry if TMI, but I was so scared of burning! I got in the bed and when I closed it over me I got really nervous as it heating up and all that. But after about 4 minutes I finally relaxed and then before I knew it time was up. But I am already starting to tan so maybe I tan easier than I thought. But anyway, then we went to her house and I really enjoyed being there. I haven't interacted with another adult in about 3 weeks!! Well since Dh was in last. So I was feeling very isolated and lonely and it cured that feeling fast. It felt so nice to chat with someone face to face. Not that I don't love chatting with all of you because I'd go crazy if it wasn't for you all :dizzy: lol, you ladies are the best. :) But she made fried chicken for dinner, mashed potatoes and gravy (full of butter and milk) and mac and cheese, also full of butter and milk so I had a little bit of each one and thought I did fine until she made everyone banana splits for desserts, I caved and ate one :o so I guess we all had a rough weekend OP, lol. But that is why I love mondays!! I think if we all get some extra exercise in this week we will be just fine despite going off plan some this weekend. I have to be really good the rest of the week because Dh comes home on friday and I always eat bad when he is in, so I have to start this week good to get a good WI. So I'm focused again.
What is everyone having for dinner tonight? I'm thinking of tacos or something like that.
Well I have alot planned today, I have to start cleaning out my laundry area because we are putting up the wall this weekend, right now our laundry room is open to our kitchen and I want to close it off and make it it's own room so we will do that this weekend. And the kids rooms need to be cleaned, their beds stripped and washed, etc. So I will be busy trying to get as much of this done as possible today. So I'll talk with you all later!! Have a great monday!

03-15-2004, 11:32 AM
Good morning!
I am glad that this weekend is over.....not that it was an awful one, but I need some time to myself.

Geri- thanks for starting the new thread. And glad you and Will enjoyed that cake! Sometimes ya just gotta do that..... How was the pork tenderloin? Oh, and yes I was a child bride...........ahem............well, I ain't no spring chicken anymore!

Candy-I am so sorry that your ear is not improving. A few years ago, Dh had a similar problem, with an ear that would just not get better- he ended up in an ENT's office (ear-nose- throat) who had just the medication to treat it. On top of the antibiotic pills, the ENT put Dh on antibiotic ear drops- which after weeks of pain, cured him. Just an idea- I feel so bad for you.

Ricci- if you have not had the ww pasta, it really does not taste much different. The brown rice is another story- but I like the taste better. Funny story from your church yesterday- kids can be so funny. About Prevnar- Dh works for the company that makes it......and I used to work in the dept that fills the product into vials. Currently, there is a national shortage of Prevnar, and the pediatricians are only giving it to high risk patients and the first 2 doses (supposed to be 4 doses). My Dd is too old for the stuff- most doses are given before the age of 3 (I think). But it is a good vaccine- especially in preventing some of the illnesses that can cause serious injury to kids- meningitis etc...... And believe me, I did ask the pediatrician about it when I took Dd in- I knew all the background info, but am not up on all the latest, so I thought I would ask. Sounds like you had a nice breakfast too!

Andrea- sorry about your financial woes......I do not have much advice for dealing with the credit card companies. You might want to check out a web site- (I think!). It is a Christian financial planning group- they do sell stuff, but also offer lots and lots of stuff for free. No, they will not preach to you......or get in your face. I used to listen to their radio show about finances, which was excellent. Anyway, there is a consumer credit bureau or something like that- that can help intercede with credit companies. Of course it helps that you have been paying all along and are not delinquent.
As far as jobs go- well, I have no idea what your interests are and can only speak for here in NY. I became a bus driver- because it fits my kids schedule- summers off etc...... I have a pension plan- some benefits (vision care, dental) and if I took a route with more hours could have major medical.
The district trained me for free- although I was not paid until I passed my liscence. Starting wage- again here in NY was $14/hour- and I am now making a few dollars more than that per hour. No, it is not for everyone, and your family is young. But an idea, and also a very family friendly job. I will pray for you....

Penny- weekends mess me up too!!!!!! Hope you get back on track.

Spryng- how did you fare eating last night????? Hope you were able to avoid all the bad stuff!!!!!! Did you enjoy the tanning session?

Well, I got a short walk in this am. Probably another one after dinner- before the 4-8 inches of snow we are supposed to get tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!! Will this winter ever end??????????? Gotta go get the last load of wash out...... Have a great day!

03-15-2004, 11:34 AM
Hey, Spryng!!! Our paths crossed. SOunds like you had a great day yesterday. It is nice to see another adult face. Mommyhood can be a lonely job......most men don't understand that. But we love you here!
Gotta scoot. Have a great day.

03-15-2004, 11:47 AM
Good morning ladies!

Ginny, winter never ends when you live up north! Luckily, we have been getting rain rather than snow so it hasn't been too bad. Of course everytime I look out the windows I see the leaves and sticks and everything that was under the snow and I want to get out there...but it's too cold to take Tony out and let him crawl around. At least it's starting to stay lighter later so soon I will get out after Dh gets home from work or on the weekends.
The pork tenderloin was yummy. I just cooked it in a pan with onions and seasoned it with pepper and garlic, but it was good.

Spryng, glad you got some adult interaction. I would go crazy without it. When I get off of here I'm going to go get a new cell phone plan with nationwide long distance so maybe we can really chat sometime. My mom wants a phone so I'll get some type of family plan also so we can share the bill. Glad Dh is coming in on Friday...maybe working on the wall will help you stay OP while he is home! My laundry room doesn't have a door that closes either. I keep hinting to Dh that it's too loud so maybe someday we will have a door! I would even settle for a nice bi-fold.

That reminds me...I started painting fish on my bathroom wall if I ever finish it I'll get those pics posted :D

Ginny, love the church story! I have been avoiding going because Tony's too antsy at this point and Will just doesn't like to sit. They have a mother's room but the kids just run around so I don't see the point..they don't learn how to behave in church that way. Don't sweat the least it was frozen yogurt and not custard!!

Candy, I agree with Ginny...maybe you should go to the ENT specialist. :( I really hope you start feeling better soon. I don't know how you managed to visit this weekend.'s Monday...a new week...I know you can get back OP :coffee:
Glad you had a good weekend.

Hi Andrea & Melind and anyone else out there. Gotta do a couple more things and head out for some errands.

TTYL!! Oh yes, got my 3 mile walk in this morning thanks to my good boys and my friend Leslie!! And tonight is WI :goodscale :goodluck:

03-15-2004, 12:39 PM
Taking a breather for a sec.... this cleaning is real work, lol!
Geri, you can call me anytime! I use a cell phone too and it's all free after 9 pm central and I am always up so if you are ever bored at night give me a call!! I'm just going to post my number here for everyone because I don't mind any of you calling me (620-224-9601) hey, it may help those late night munchies!! I'm going to take some before and after photos of the laundry room too so you all can see what it looks like. I don't know when I will get to paint it. If DH works hard and gets it done saturday then I may get to paint the new wall sunday!! I really hope so. But if not, I'll probably go ahead and buy the paint and work on it after the kids go to bed during the week. I can't wait to see your bathroom!
Ginny I haven't tried the wheat pasta either. Is it lower in pts than the white? I'm assuming it probably is. If it doesn't taste much different than I should start buying it. I love brown rice though. That is all I eat. I can't believe you are going to get more snow! I would be very upset if it snowed here again. Today it is raining and then suppose to warm up all week and be nice. I hope so.
Well, I guess I should get back to laundry. When I lived in oklahoma my friend and I had laundry day parties. We would get all of our dirty laundry and take it to either her house or mine and wash, dry and fold together while we chatted, watched a movie and had a good time. It made laundry seem like fun instead of the chore it is, lol. Anyone want to come over for a laundry party?? lol. TTYL!

03-15-2004, 01:30 PM
Spryng - What a good idea to have a lanudry party? My friends are not as much as a crazed clean and neat freak as me, so they probably go weeks without doing laundry. I think I am down to every other day, so not as bad as daily.

Ginny - Great story about church. My dh and I met at church. I went at 830 and he at 1100 so we did not meet up until 10 years later. Since we have been married we have been going to 1100, but JW is making us start 830 again.

Andera - Are you able to get unemployment for awhile until you get back on your feet? I have a couple of friends that do home shows on the side for extra money. Just some thoughts. I will be thinking of you and your family.

Penny - I am with you on the weekend, but I am a new person today. Had a 830 butts, ab, legs class. I am going to stay on program this week.

Geri - Hope weigh in treats you good today.

Have a Happy Monday. I am glad it is a new week too.

03-15-2004, 02:26 PM
Just aquick hello---first of all, Ricci was the one with the cute church story. I got to church myself, but nothing funny happened.

Melinda- glad you could check in and say hello.

Spryng- happy cleaning!!!! Cant wait to see the pictures of the new laundry room.

Geri- want some snow????? But it is nice to get the longer days, as we have here too.
Good job getting that walk in.

Just got back from the Dr- and they are reducing my dosage of blood pressure meds, because my BP was so low!!! I am excited......maybe that will help inspire me to stay really OP- especially this PMS this week. Guess all the workouts and points counting are doing something good. On a bad soon as I walked in the door, got a call from school that Ds ( if he lives till 15) got into a bit of trouble.....nothing awful but disrespectful- and refused to obey 3 requests to get into study hall........I am not a happy camper.......and he just lost the computer for a month. Hehehehehe.
Oh, well.....gotta go back to work. See ya later.

03-15-2004, 04:57 PM
Hi again!
Got this in my email and thought I would share it:

Now I lay me
Down to sleep.
I pray the Lord
My shape to keep.
Please no wrinkles
Please no bags
And please lift my butt
Before it sags.
Please no age spots
Please no gray
And as for my belly,
Please take it away.
Please keep me healthy
Please keep me young,
And thank you Dear Lord
For all that you've done.

Five tips for a woman...
1. It is important that a man helps you around the house and has a job.
2. It is important that a man makes you laugh.
3. It is important to find a man you can count on and doesn't lie to you.
4. It is important that a man loves you and spoils you.
5. It is important that these four men don't know each other.

Foot Note:
One saggy boob said to the other saggy boob: "If we don't get some support
soon, people will think we're nuts."

Ginny that is fantastic news about your BP!!!!! A great NSV!! Sorry to hear about your ds, hope things get resolved.
Melinda, great job on getting to the gym! You really make me wish there was one with daycare around here. I would love to workout at a gym.
Well, I have yet to start folding clothes. I did get my kitchen spotless though and some straightening up done in the laundry area. I'll work on it more later. I got to the chat room late ( at about 2:25) and no one was there. Did anyone chat today?
Well , guess I will get off here and start getting dinner going. TTYL!

03-15-2004, 05:07 PM
Ginny, do I detect a note of glee about the loss of the computer? Does that mean you don't have to worry about contracting any virus' for at least a month??? Sorry to hear about the trouble though. I really am dreading the teenage years!!!

Spryng, the renovating sounds exciting!!! It is always nice to have a little change and that sounds like it will really add a lot to the house!

Melinda, wow! Congrats on the early workout!!! For someone with a baby you sure get out and about early! I don't think I ever got up before 10am!!!

Geri, can't wait to see the fishies!!! Hope WI goes well tonight!

Ricci, hope you can get your dh eating the wheat stuff! Mine doesn't mind the brown rice but he is not hip to the ww pasta. I have gotten him eating much healthier lately though I can't speak for when I am not around. The pig pickin was this weekend and I am sure he consumed enough meat to feed a small country! Ugh!!!

I am still down with this ear ache. I called the dr and they scheduled an appt with ENT on Wednesday. I am hoping I will be better by then though! I just scheduled a weekend trip to Florida next month so I have really got to get on the stick and get in shape!!!! We are going to go to Sea World. The kids LOVE animals and I just think they would really enjoy Sea World and if we go before Kylie turns 3 we don't have to pay for her. Sounds cheap but that will save us $45!!! Can you believe that? Anyhows, I am excited but really need to get rid of this ear infection so I can get back to exercising. They have a couple pools and a mini-water park at the hotel/resort we will be staying at. It is one of those deals where you take a 90 minute tour and you get a good deal. We will get 2 adult tickets to Sea World ($54.00 a piece) plus 4days/3nights at the hotel which is located inside the resort and we get free access to all the resort ammenities for only $169.00. I am really excited. We don't have a lot of money for vacation this year with building the house (and since I refuse to run up my credit!) so it should be a nice time for a modest amount. The tour of the resort is only 90 minutes and we can do it as early as 8am so we will have all day Friday and Saturday to do Sea World and whatever else.

Ok, enough about that! Hope everyone is having a great day. I might work for a bit since I've found my way to the computer. TTYL!!!

03-15-2004, 05:41 PM
Is there a couple of Sea World resorts? I know we went to the one in San Antonio last year. The kids had a blast! It was a great experience and lots of shade! It is really designed with kids in mind!

Hope you are feeling better soon!

I will be back later when the kids are not running around wild :dizzy:

Penny :)

03-15-2004, 05:58 PM
Just a quickie 'cause I'll forget by the time I post after the kids go to bed. Has anyone tried the Mr Clean Magic Eraser yet? I had a coupon so a 2 pack only cost me about 75 cents. I just used it on my fiberglass whirlpool tub and it is spotless for the 1st time since we moved in here 1 1/2 years ago! No chemicals...I don't get it! But it really works.

03-15-2004, 08:33 PM
Penny, I think there are 3 but we will be going to the one in Orlando, Florida. I've been a few times but the kids have never been and we were gonna wait until they were both over 4 but I think Kylie will do fine. She is pretty easy going and loves animals. Penny, how old were your boys when you took them? Did they do ok the whole day or did they get tired and fussy? Mike had wanted to do Universal Studios on Friday but I think that would be too much 2 days in a row so we will probably just enjoy the resort and maybe go to Cape Canaveral. My DH and DS are big space fans! I will be mildly entertained, I believe!!!

Geri, I tried the magic eraser and loved it. It got my fridge so white. I have wiped at that thing hundreds of times but there was some type of grime that just wouldn't come off but the magic eraser took it right off. One piece of advice: do not use it on walls unless you plan to do the WHOLE wall! My walls look horrible now because I did it in spots and the rest looks really yucky! I just got my coupon in the mail and am going to buy some more!!!

Ok, I'm gonna try and straighten up a bit before dh and ds get home and then I am off to bed. I really think I am not better because I haven't been resting but what is that??? With kids that is like a fantasy! Hope everyone is having a good night. Talk to ya'll tomorrow.

03-15-2004, 08:59 PM
Ginny - Sorry for the mix up. I usually have a pad to write down the comments, but did it on my own this morning so you can see how that turned out. Good for the computer restriction, he'll learn his lesson. Great with the BP, I really believe in lifestyle changes. Keep up the good work.

Candy - How did dh do at the pig pickin? There is this guy Henry that we get to do parties for us. He usually places first or second each year. I love some good BBQ and hash. Probably makes you sick to think about it. Will the weather be good in Fla? You think 3 is a good age. Dh wants to talk JW to Disney at 3, but I think it is a little early and the fact that it is so expensive.
I hope the ENT has a cure for the ear infection.

Penny - We went to a seafood buffet on Friday night and I did the boiled shrimp and fish. I so wanted crawfish. I told dh if I find a cheap last minute ticket I am going to LA just to eat crawfish. I don't think they are really bad for you unless in butter.

Hello to Spryng, Geri, Andrea, Ricci, and Gosia ( Are you still with us?)
Hope I didn't miss anyone.

Happy Monday and Happy No Late Night Eating!

03-15-2004, 11:26 PM
Hello all,

Melinda, a seafood buffet sounds so good! Just how do you eat crawfish anyway? I've seen them on tv and at cajun food fests but could never bring myself to try them

Candy, I'll have to try the eraser on the fridge! I'll remember your tip with the walls. You're going to FL again????? I'm so jealous!! The advantage of living down south I guess. :D We're going Labor Day week but down to Ft Lauderdale and the keys.

Ginny, good news from the dr!! :) You do sound a little too happy about taking away computer privledges :p

Spryng, thanks for the tid bits from your email! Cute. I have noted your phone number and will call it soon! What time do your kids go down? I would hate to call too early. I will PM my phone number (and to anyone else who would want it). I don't know why but it makes me nervous to post it on-line...why I don't know...not like it's unlisted or anything :p Just silly I guess. My new phone is cool!! They're very tiny now.

WI was fantastic. Down 2# this week! :tread: :workout: :cheer:

On that note...gotta go. Dh wants the 'puter! Hi to anyone I missed!!

03-16-2004, 07:55 AM
Good morning!
Ok, I confess......I am happy about Ds losing the computer for a while.....he has done this to himself- this is a long time coming. Ain't I nasty??????? (it is just so hard to see someone who is so stubborn that he/she refuses to learn a lesson).
Snow on the way- so I will check back in later after I get the kiddies to and from school.......I think it will be a half day.
Candy- glad you are going to the ENT.
Spryng- thanks for the humor.
And thanks to all for the moral support. Sorry I cant get personal now....see ya later!

03-16-2004, 08:14 AM
Hi Ladies,

I love the poems, very cute! When dh comes home this weekend. Stay on track! Hope ya'll get the wall up and get it painted! I bet you are going to be busy....... Great exercise.... :)

Good going with your pressure going down! ;)

How was the buffet? If you come to La, you can stay with me ...... LOL ;)

Actually I think we went year before last with my sister in law and brother in law. They have twin boys, so we had four kids, 3, 3, 3, and
But they had a blast and did fine! I did bring umbrella strollers for them though so they were in them unless we were stopped.

WEIGH TO GO!!!!! I am so happy for you! You are doing awesome woman!!! :bravo: :cp: :cb:  :dancer: :flame: :balloons:  :cheer:

I am still off track :( My mom was fussing yesterday but I told her just leave me alone. I had to get it out of my system. I said I was going to eat what I wanted yesterday! So I did, and now I am back on track. I figured if I was going to eat a certain way for the rest of my life, I deserve to do it my way.....LOL

At least I keep telling myself that!

03-16-2004, 09:00 AM
Geri - Way to go on your two pounds. I have started weighing daily to keep myself accountable. I am down .5 from my 2 pound gain Friday, so hopefully my Friday I can bring it down.

Penny - What part of LA did you say? I love beinet (sp) too but that is way off any kind of diet. I will just watch the food network and dream I am eating crawfish until we get there. We do get them here, but they are not as good and very expensive.

Candy - Remember I only have one child to get up and going with in the morning, so much easier than two, three. He is pretty easy going as well. Am I the only one with a single? Hopefully not long. I have told my dh that we will wait until I get some weight off and he thinks that is a good idea.

I will have to tell you that I am determined to get this eating under control. I am so sore from my workouts. I didn't even want to get out of bed this morning. It is rainy outside, so we will probably stay home and do a video. My fridge is empty. Guess that is good being all I have is salad and chicken, barely any dressing.

Have a Happy Monday!

03-16-2004, 09:38 AM
Melinda, we don't how they did at the pig pickin yet. They weren't in the top 5. A lot of that has to do more with who you know than what your bbq tastes like. Seems that the ones with the big sponsors are usually the winners. Last time they placed 14th out of 70 so they are hoping for better than that this year. As for theme parks, I had read that you shoud wait until age 4 and we were planning too and still are for Disney World but the kids went to the Theater of the Sea down in the Keys which is like a mini-Sea World and almost every day Kylie asks if she can go to "Feefer of Fee" so we decided to give Sea World a try. Like I said, she is pretty easy going so I am not too worried. If my children were reversed, I wouldn't think of taking Sean at 3! He is much higher maintenence and more emotional!

Geri, you go girl!!! :goodscale You are doing soooo good!!! We are all really proud of you. Congrats on your new phone. I got a new little one recently and am still trying to figure it out!!! I love pushing the button and saying the name and it calls the person. Much easier than trying to dial while driving down the road!!! As for Florida again, Orlando is only 6 hrs away so it is not too much of a trip. We actually used to live 30 minutes from Orlando so that trip became 2nd nature since all our family was here. And yes, it is an advantage of living down here in the south.

Penny, I agree with you on being off-track. Sometimes it just takes a bit of totally not caring and eating what you want before you are ready to get back on track. You won't succeed until you are really ready!!! I have gotten to the point now where I don't want to have to work to get it back off so I am doing better but I started out right where you are! Glad to hear Sea World was a success with three 3 yos!!! We should do ok with an almost 3 yo and an almost 5 yo.

Ginny, hope you have a safe day. Snow...yuck!!! It was in the 70's here yesterday and of course, I was too sick to enjoy it but the kids did play outside for a while. They were digging for roly poly's. I had to tell them they wouldn't find roly poly's in the dirt. They must have had 1/2 the backyard on them when they came in. Anyhows, hope you do get 1/2 day off and you get some time to yourself. And a super big congrats on the Blood Pressure!!! Could you have a little talk with my FIL??? Just kidding.

Spryng, can't wait to see the before and after pictures!!! I know you must be sooo excited. I always get like that for projects. Dh's is dreading it because he has to do most the work and I'm all motivated because I'm just helping! Anyhows, hope you get it all done!

Andrea, hope your doing ok and know I'm thinking about you. Don't get too down about things! It WILL get better!!!

Ok, well, I have to go to Ravenel to get another custom cabinet maker to give me an estimate. Hopefully it will be lower than Lowe's. Then tomorrow I have the ENT in the afternoon. I wish it was today. The pain pills have quit working so I'm hurting pretty much all the time. At least it is just my ear and not my whole body!!! Hope everyone has a great op day!!!

Good morning ladies,

Thanks for all the "way to go's" makes me feel all warm inside :) smilies aren't working...arrrrgh!

Candy, I sure hope that ENT can help you...this is beyond rediculous now (insert sad face here). Good luck with the cabinet maker!!!

Melinda, your workouts have been going great! Getting the eating under control is always tough...the empty fridge should help!!! Congrats on the .5 lbs gone. You should catch that 2 lbs quickly.

Penny, you gotta do what you gotta do! No one can tell you how to eat unless you're ready to do it! Hope you enjoyed whatever you ate yesterday and can get back OP soon!

Ginny...your Ds sounds like Will in the future :(. We are constantly telling him not to climb on his brother...yet he keeps doing it. Dh has even climbed on Will to try to teach him what it feels far it hasn't worked! Gee, I can't wait til he's 15! LOL. Sorry about the all went just south of us yesterday. I didn't mean to send it up your way! Good luck driving.

Andrea, I hope you're lurking out there and things are getting better! Please let us know how you're doing.

Spryng...where are you this morning? Sleeping in?? lol ;)

I'm going out to lunch with 2 ladies I used to work with. Should be fun...Outback Steak House...I will find something healthy to choose!!!!!! At least WI is a week away and I did get my 3 mi walk in this morning!

I'll TTY later...don't know if I'll be home to chat, but I will try!

Good morning all!
Sorry I didn't get on here earlier. I meant to but I got caught up watching a baby story and then Tanner fell alseep in my arms and took an early morning nap there so I was stuck on the couch, lol. But I am dressed and ready for the day now. I get to tan again tonight so I am excited!! It won't be until 5:30 pm though.
Geri, congrats on the 2#!!!! I'm so happy for you!! And no, didn't get to sleep in. I forget what that is like. I get to do it every now and then when DH is in, but we usually get up together so no one sleeps in anymore :)
Candy, yes I am excited. Dh isn't though. He keeps telling me he may back out, but I'm going to keep nagging him until it is done :) Your project would be much more exciting to me, a whole house!!
Melinda, I think weighing daily to keep accountable is a great idea. Maybe that is what I need to do when DH is in, weigh every morning so I will think twice about eating so terrible. But you know, even though I usually go way over my flexpoints when he is home I still usually lose on those weeks, so maybe it's ok. I really don't worry much about it anymore because it has been working for me for weeks now.
Penny, great exercise for putting up the wall or because DH will be home? :o Just kidding, :lol3: I know what you meant, lol. It never helps when someone in the family is fussing at you over what you eat, just makes you want to rebel. You are doing great and one day of bad eating isn't going to set you back that much. Hang in there!
Ginny, hope the weather doesn't get too bad for you today. Are you going to your WW meeting tomorrow?
Well, I need to get off of here and get something done around here so I feel useful today. I'm afraid I feel quite lazy at the moment, lol. I still have so much work to do on the laundry area. What did everyone have for dinner last night? I ended up making hamburger helper (remember I wanted cheap meals for this week and box dinners are the cheapest sometimes) but I made it with morningstar farms crumbles and it made the pts super low, 3 pts per cupfull, so I had two cups with blackeye peas and sweet peas on the side. It was very filling. I think we may have burritos tonight. Not sure yet.
Well got to go! TTYL!

Geri - Have fun with the work crew. That reminds me that I need to call my old office and have lunch with them. The Outbacks in our area are only open for dinner. You would think they would lose a lot of business because of it.
It is one of my dh favorite places to eat.

Spryng - How sweet with Tanner falling asleep on you? JW will not do that anymore. Enjoy those precious moments.

Did a 30 minute video. It said toning on the title, but I think it was a lot of the pilates moves. Congrats to all doing pilates, that is a tough workout.

JW first time sitting in a shopping cart today. He is still a bit small for the seat. I think I am going to buy him one of those shopping cart seat/toy things. I was wiping him down everytime he touch the cart. He loved the bag of brown rice. Last week he started sitting unsupported.

And it would figure that he started to crawl while I was at the gym. The girls told me that JW was crawling and I said no way. When I took him home, he was scouting all over the place. Good thing he is not too fast yet.

For the veteran moms, he is nodding his head right to left, up and down, and he thinks it is a hoot. I thought it might be an ear infection, but my grandma told me he would be cranky and crying if something like that was bothering him. It is cute, but it hurts my head to move it like, so I don't understand why he likes it so much.

I am planning on being on chat today.

03-16-2004, 04:06 PM
I forgot who it was, but thank you for introducing the MOMS group. I spoke with someone and they have tons of activites going on. There is a moms night out on Thurs, so that will be the first outing I try out. I am looking forward to it.

I am online if anyone wants to chat. Otherwise I will write and down my water so I do not think about eating. Dr. Phil is on. It is the ask Dr. Phil and Robin day, she has some ugly shoes on.

Our Circle is at a Sushi place tonight, so it should not be too bad. DH and JW will be on there own.

Well, I going to log off. Maybe I will get a nap in.

Happy Tuesday Evening.

03-16-2004, 05:30 PM
Melinda, guess what??? Outback IS only open for dinner here too?? Who knew? Luckily there were plenty of places to chose from so we went to TGI Fridays (are they national?). I chose chicken fajitas which came with a black bean soup. Ate all of the chicken, 2 of the tortillas, hardly any of the sour cream or cheese, but all of the guac. Tonight's dinner will be soup and salad...if I'm even hungry by then. Knowing me I will be!

Check back with you later.

03-16-2004, 11:49 PM
Wow, sure is quiet around here tonight!

I did something I have never done before. I voted for American Idol  I thought that the 16 yo girl Diana DeGarmo is so good that I called in. Never thought I would ever care enough!

Ginny, picked up more Leslie at Sam's Club today. They had a dvd for under $10 that had a 2 mile workout and then the 4 mile (3-20 min workouts adding up to 4 mi) on 1 dvd. Don't know if I'll ever have an hour to do the whole 4 miles, but at least it will be something different. :) I can practically recite the current one I use.

Finally ate a salad at a little after 8. I don't like to eat that late but I finally got hungry. Must have been the smell of the baked goods at Sam's. I bought shrimp, mahi mahi and some naughty chicken kiev (for Dh). I got the dvd in place of the kiev for me :D

Spryng, thought about calling you but I don't know yet when a good time is?? I know you try to get some exercise in once the kids go to let me know.

Nothing else new since my last visit...hope you all had a great OP day. No plans for tomorrow so I should be around here.

03-17-2004, 12:06 AM
Good evening all!
Geri, a good time for me is usually after 9:30 pm, The kids are usually in bed by 9 pm but sometimes they are up a little later, so 9:30 is much better and we wouldn't be distracted. :) I can't wait to hear from you soon! I voted for the same girl tonight!! She was the last performer right? I thought she was fantastic! What a voice. I love TGIF, it is my favorite restaurant. But the closest one to me is kansas city so I don't get to go much anymore. But I love their fajitas also. That is what I usually order.
Melinda, did you find a moms group in your town? I emailed them and they wrote back saying there isn't one in my town but I could open a chapter here, well since I've never even heard of them until a few months ago I wouldn't know how it all worked and all that. So I wrote them back today to see if there was one in a neighboring town, I haven't heard back yet. That is so sweet that your ds is crawling! The first year is so wonderful isn't it?? Tanner is standing alone at times now, DH really wants me to get him walking but I know he will do it when he is ready. I want my baby to stay a baby as long as possible so I'm not really working with him to walk yet. And about the ear infection, they don't always bother them. I only found out Tanner had a bad one because I took him in for his shots and they looked, he hadn't been fussy or anything out of the norm. Not that I think your child has one but your grandma said they would be cranky and hurting, well that isn't always the case.
I did get in the chat room today, but it was around 2:30, so I guess I missed you all again. The kids went down about 2:20 pm for their naps. Dinner was soft tacos with morningstar farms crumbles, they were very filling. Next time though I'll use low sodium taco seasoning because with the sodium in the crumbles and then also in the seasoning it was very salty, but it got me to drink extra water tonight :) And the kids loved them, they ate every bite. So that was good. My tanning session went well. I did it for 6 min tonight and it went by really fast. The first time I had a hard time relaxing because I was scared of the bed, but tonight I was much better and felt comfortable. I'll hit it again tomorrow evening. I hope I have my base tan by friday when DH gets in. :)
I did get two huge baskets of laundry folded and put up today, I have about 4 more baskets to get done tomorrow. But I'll get everything done by friday morning. A little at a time so I don't feel overwhelmed.
Well, I guess I should call it a night and get in bed. TTYL!

03-17-2004, 08:41 AM
Good morning,

Where is everyone? All tired?? Hope no one's sick!

Happy St Pat's :) Any Irish out there? Not me. St Pat's is kind of a sad day for dad passed away 8 years ago today from prostate cancer. He only knew 3 of his 5 grandchildren :( ... he was closer to me than my siblings so I really miss him. Good memories though :D

Ginny, hope you haven't gotten too much snow...the forecast wasn't too good for you. We're supposed to get about an inch this morning...even that's too much right now

Spryng, how did the tanning go? What town do you live in again? You may be in my local calling area! Joplin is. I was so surprised that it went so far south. Let me know & I'll look it up on the map. I'm planning on calling tonight regardless. I guessing you have a southern accent (hee hee).

Candy, how're you feeling? Good luck at the ENT today. How did the cabinet maker visit go?

Melinda, JW is crawling and sitting in a shopping cart! Wow, they grow up fast hey? Crawling is so cool...they just get more and more curious about things. Tony gets into absolutely everything...can be frustrating, but mostly it's fun! It's really nice when they can sit in the shopping don't have to lug that baby car seat in with you...after a while it just get's too heavy!! How many teeth does he have now and how old is he? Tony has 6 teeth...4 on bottom and 2 on top and he'll be 10 mo in 2 days.

Penny, how're you doing?? Back OP? How're the boys doing?

Well, I'm not usually the early morning poster, but Tony decided that 5:45 was a good time to wake up this morning so here I am. He didn't go to bed 'til 8:30 last night so I don't know what's up with that :^: Will's still sleeping for now.

If I missed anyone, I'm terribly sorry! TTYL

03-17-2004, 09:18 AM
Hi Ladies

I am so sorry about your dad. Glad you were close to him and you have great memories. It always helps me to think about that!

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone! :) :)

Not Irish here.

I am still not back on plan :dizzy: :o :?:

I am going to get back on today! The longer I stay off the longer I am away from goal! I went to Wal Mart with a friend yesterday and we ate at Adobe Catina which is a Mexican restuarant. That didn't help!!

03-17-2004, 09:57 AM
Good morning all!
Penny, I am routing for you! I know you can get back OP today. Why don't you go ahead and weigh yourself this morning so you can see in numbers how you did the past few days and maybe it will help re-focus you. But sometimes it is so hard to get back OP. I know you can do it!
Geri, you are up bright and early this morning :) So sorry to hear about your father. Hold on to those memories though. They are so special. I have no irish in me either, I'm a mix of many things, but sadly irish isn't one of them. Anf the tanning went great. I got in there and put my cream on and was fixing to get in the bed when I realized I forgot my goggles!! So I had to get redressed, then the bed started automatically, I rushed back up to the front and told them what happened and asked if I could run out to my van and then re-start the bed. Well they have a policy of only tanning once a day so they couldn't restart it under my name, they had to do it under one of theirs. But they were ok to do that. I just know how important those goggles are and wasn't going to attempt tanning without them. I want to be able to see my tan, lol. So once I got them and back into the room it wasn't a problem. It went by much quicker than the time before and I added one more minute to it. Tonight I'll add another minute. I'mnot really seeing a tan yet, but I think it is very light. But since I'll tan tonight through friday I should have a base tan by monday I'm thinking (I'll tan sat and sun too) I want that base tan so I don't have to go as often. I'm in Fort Scott Kansas. is that in your calling plan? What company do you have? I have alltel and if you do then it's all free min to call you no matter what time of day. But after 9 pm it's free also. Is that how your plan works? I don't want you to run up your min. Are you in central time? I don't know if I have a southern accent or not. Penny? Ginny? Any accent?? I'm originally from california. I do know everyone else talks much faster than me. :) Geri, when did Tony get his top teeth? Tanner still hasn't got his. He'll be 9 months old in one week from today. They started to really swell a couple of weeks ago but the swelling is gone now and still no teeth. I can't remember when my other two got theirs. I know Ava was way over a year old. She didn't get her first tooth until she was 13 months old!! Then the rest came pretty fast. Bubba was more on schedule.
Well, I have normal things planned today. I'm going to try and knock out some more laundry and probably clean my kitchen and bathroom and that is about it. What is for dinner tonight? I'm probably going to cheat and make tuna helper. (cheat on cooking that is, not on my diet) :^:
Well I guess I will get off of here. Hope we all have a great OP day! Ginny will you get to WI today??

03-17-2004, 11:05 AM
Spryng, I have US Cellular and it doesn't look like you're in my local area. I think you're too far north of Pittsburg. It doens't matter though. I have 400 minutes a month that between my Mom and I we'll never use...that includes local and long distance and I think they're anytime minutes even for long distance. I'm going to double check that though. That's over 6.5 hours a month and I never use the cell that much. My old plan had 125 min & I think the only time we went over was when Will was born and we were making calls from the hospital recovery room.

I'll check back in later.

03-17-2004, 11:10 AM
Geri, do you get free min after a certain time at night? Most plans offer that. I'm about 20 min north of pittsburg. I go there quite often. I get 750 min a month and use almost all of them! lol. But I use my cell as my main phone, we don't have a home phone. And I share those min with my DH, but all calls to him are free mobile to mobile so that is nice. We talked for 5000 min last month!!! but thankfully it doesn't affect my 750 min :) Well, got to go! Hope everyone's day is going well!!

03-17-2004, 12:49 PM
Geri - JW is 6 1/2 months and he has two teeth. Everyday is more fun. He has so many new expressions. No Irish in the blood. I do not even have anything green to wear, of course JW does.

Spryng - I tanned right before my wedding and my sisters. I only did it for 3 months. After about the 1st month I did not get any darker. Suprising being that I am 1/2 Asian. When I was a child I was so dark, I guess you lose some of the pigment once your older.

Penny - It is so hard to get back on track. I have been doing well, but then I look at the scale and I think about eating more. I think the daily weigh in is sabotage to my diet.

My grandma is suppose to be coming home from Vietnam today. She lives in the US 6 months and then overseas the other 6. She does not speak English and I only understand a little Vietnamese. BTW, she was suppose to be here at 930 and her flight in ATL was delayed and she will be here at 12. I think the airlines might have bumped her b/c she did not understand. She is 85 and it is a long trip. Anyway, she hasn't seen JW yet. My point of the whole story is that I do not see a workout today as JW is now napping at my parents and I did not bring my gym bag. I have a sedan, so I had to take my gym bag and everything out of the car for luggage. Then my mom said that my car was not big enough for the luggage.

So I hope to get a workout, but I am not sure. Hope everyone else is having an on program day.

I do not know about chat for today. I will check in if I can.

new thread time.
