Hi everyone,
I thought that since spring is around the corner, we needed a lift to get out of the winter blahs.....and hope no one minds that I've tweaked our name just a bit!
Am seeing the dr. on Monday to have the stitches out and xrays taken...and hoping he'll give me the ok to take showers.
We had a wake to attend in the late afternoon yesterday; of course while we were out, the human resource director called regarding the job. This was after waiting all week for a call! She left a message saying she'll contact me over the weekend and looked forward to speaking with me. I'm hoping that's positive, right?
Okay, all you little lost lambs....time to come home! Es....Ruth....Zoe...Janie...
HI  to Terri, Dianne, Sandy!

Good morning everyone:
Jen - That sounds VERY positive - saying she looks forward to talking to you -since no one giving you bad news is gonna look forward to talking to you (hopefully  ). :crossed: Good news about your foot too - you must be dying to get in the shower. P.S. The new name is
Well, I gained .6 this week, even though I exercised every day. But, truthfully, I didn't do well with food this week. There were a couple of farewell parties at the job and I had a couple of pieces of cake and then willie and I went out to eat twice and I didn't make the best choices. So I have to realize that exercising is terrific, but its not a miracle replacement for not eating well. I know if I hadn't done the exercising, I probably would have gained a lb. at least.
I was a little disapointed but then I look at the half-full glass and know that I'm 11 lbs. lighter than I was a few months ago, I feel great and I think I look good, too. So, I'll just be more careful with the food this week and continue the exercising. I'm still motivated and that's a good thing :smug:
Alana's home and we're gonna do some shopping today. Also, I'm checking flights, etc. for Puerto Rico. We are planning on going the last week of July through the 1st week of August and now my sister is interested in coming with her son, so we'll be able to get a place with more bedrooms and just split the cost, which is
Hi to Terri, Es, Donna, Ruthie, Sandy, ZoeGirl and Janie. Hope everyone has a great weekend.
Hugs,
Dianne

Good Morning All :)
Jen, How are you doing? Did the stitches come out, and have you heard anything more about the new job? I like the new name for our group, hope we get energized for spring. It looks like we are getting a new burst of winter for the time being, we expect about 10 inches of snow tonight.
Dianne, I had a small gain this week also of .4 lb. I am trying to take stock of what happens when I have a gain. The chief reason for me is that I have not been using the tracker, and had too many restaurant meals where the portions are too large. But I think if we stay focused, we are all heading for our goals. You have done really great with the exercise, and finding our balance between food choices and exercise seems to be what it is all about.
(This mini lecture- peptalk is directed at myself mainly :D )
Talk to you all later, taking Greg to school

Jen,
I hope you got good news today.
Dianne and Sandy,
There will be many maintains and small gains in our lifetime. Think of it as life. SH** happens. Love that bumper sticker. You know how to lose and you will. I am glad we have learned not to give up at minor set backs. If I did I wouldn't be where I am now that is for sure.
This Saturday we are leaving for Pigeon Forge/Gatlingurg, Tenn. We will stay until Wed. Bruce got a beautiful place with a pool table and a jucuzzi. It is all wood with huge long windows and a real long stairway. Can't wait to hike. I love the Smokey Mountains.
I saw Starskey and Hutch. It was so funny. I loved the show. Starskey was my guy. He was so funny. He aged well but I can't say the same about David Soul (Hutch).
He was the pretty boy too.

:cb: I got the job! :cb: The call came yesterday morning while I was at the dr., so the game of phone tag continued another day.
The benefits are quite good; I'm very pleased with the salary, which is more than I was at when I quit my job 3 years ago. I'll be starting on the 31st...only two weeks of freedom left!
The stitches came out yesterday, they took xrays (actually my son did) and the surgery did the trick, it looks good. In the films I was able to see the pin, it is inserted through the tip of my middle toe, then about 3 inches down into my foot :faint: plus there's a pin that will remain in my foot. I made the dr. wrap it so I can't see it sticking out, I get queasy. The dr. will take the pin out in 3 weeks, soooo it's 3 more weeks of wearing this huge robo-cop boot then I'll graduate to gym shoes!! Yessss, can't wait.
Dianne,
Don't forget your theory...life has a way of getting in the way. You've done very well, and those 11 pounds are gone! outta here! You're doing great with the exercise.
That's cool about your sister and nephew joining you in Puerto Rico; you'll have a wonderful time.
Sandy,
Did you get socked with the snow? At least Spring begins Saturday.
The minor gain will be behind you, don't lose your motivation; and that was a good pep talk you gave!
Terri,
Have a great trip! Joey and Iliana went to the Smokey Mtns. last October, he loves it there. It sounds like you'll have a great place to stay; the jacuzzi will be so
I loved Starsky and Hutch also, can't wait to see the movie! I love Ben Stiller's movies. Meet the Parents was so good.
We're having our annual St. Patrick's party on Saturday, there will be 19 of us, and most likely everyone will stay overnight. Now we can also celebrate my job. :lucky:
Have to go vote.

:bravo: Jen on your job and the stitches coming out and everything looking good! What are you going to do during your last couple of weeks of freedom? :?:
Terri, have a great time this weekend! It sounds like a wonderful getaway and please take pictures.
Sandy I too benefited from your "pep talk". I gained a little during my Bahamas getaway but it is coming off already but still is frustrating to know it can just so easily fall back how it was. I hope you will be spared of the snow. I myself want Spring so bad!
Dianne, your trip sounds wonderful too! Can I be a stowaway in your suitcase and come along? I'm glad you looked upon your gain knowing it won't stay that way and look how far you have come! I have to remember your words as well.
I am sorry I have not been active on the thread. I am getting closer to my surgery date and it couldn't come any sooner. I am not getting attiquate enough sleep at night because the pain of it wakes me up then my sweet dh snores which doesn't help me fall back into a good sleep. I can't remember if I told you all but I have tennis elbow that I have been bothered with since last summer. I have had two cortizone shots and now will have surgery. It's outpatient and the success is very high.
My Dad and his wife are getting a divorce. It makes me sad that he will be alone.
Well, taking my sunny disposition outa here! :dizzy:

Congrats on the job. That is awesome. I am so glad those stitches came out. That will be cool. Have fun at your party. You guys always sound like you have fun. I hope Britts and her family stay close by.
Donna,
I hope everything goes ok. That must be painful.

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY EVERYONE!!![/COLOR]
Jen - congrats on getting the job :cheer: :bravo: Sooooo  . Is it going to be full time or part time? So happy for you. Now, as to the whole explanation re: the pin(s) in your foot, well, my son Steven has a saying for things that make your stomach do flip-flops...........are you ready??? Okay, here goes............he says "that makes my butt cheeks crunch"!!
Oh and yes, you're right, my favorite saying is "sometimes life gets in the way", however, I think I like Terri's saying "SH** Happens" better!
I have to say I never thought those words would come out of her mouth :p
Terri - The cabins look great - I love the high ceilings. You guys are gonna have a great time and you'll probably get lots of walking in too. Enjoy! And congrats to Brandon on no cavities - that's great!
Sandy - thanks for the pep talk.... I'm okay with it though. Like I said I lost 11 lbs. and that's a good thing. I'm continuing with the exercise and trying to make better choices this week, so hopefully I'll have better results at this week's wi. If not, I'll keep on truckin' and eventually go in the right direction. I'm not sweating it.
Hey Donna - Sorry to hear about your elbow, that does sound painful. When is the surgery? Good luck!
We're still checking various places in Puerto Rico to stay this summer. Sometimes, I think we're looking at too many sites and getting confused. You see, we plan on staying one week in the country and one week closer to San Juan area on the beach. So, we're getting inundated with e-mails etc. from various places. Decisions, decisions
This Friday I'm taking off from work - its Willie and my anniversary - 25 years together, 20 married and we're just gonna go to the city and chill.
Hi to Es, ZoeGirl, Ruthie and Janie. Hope you are all well.
Have a great day everyone!

slim down st. patty's day
By Natalie Nodecker | 3/17/2004 :) :) :) :)
The Irish crave the one day a year when the beer is green, slow cookers are filled with corned beef and kissing is a national pastime. But just because St. Patrick's Day has the potential to be calorie-packed, you don't have to let it ruin your plans for weight loss. Here are 13 fun-filled tips for getting through the day with a smile, and without over-the-rainbow POINTS® values.
Reinvent "Kiss me, I'm Irish!" If kissing burns 10 calories in 10 minutes, you could get yourself quite a workout.
Your feet were meant for dancing. Take a few lessons and learn the Irish jig. On the big day, skip the gym workout and show your friends your new moves.
Everybody loves a parade. Instead of sitting on the sidelines, get involved. Either join a group that's marching or march to your own beat.
Corned beef done right. Try this low POINTS value Corned Beef and Cabbage Strudel. You too can enjoy the flavors of St. Patty's Day.
Eat your greens. Trade in that green beer and celebrate by eating all the leafy greens you can get your hands on — spinach, broccoli, green beans, lettuce.
Plan a picnic. Weather permitting, get yourself out into the grass and find those four-leaf clovers.
Seeing green. Ironically, green is bad luck in Ireland, so start your own tradition. Every time someone around you mentions green, tack on an additional push-up or an extra minute of cardio to the next day's workout.
Kiss the Blarney Stone. You can't make it to Ireland to kiss the magic rock? You can still use the time as an excuse to get away. Hasn't that day spa always sounded indulging?
Throw a party! Invite your friends to your place and require that each bring a low-calorie dish. With you in control of the food and the drink, it won't take any luck to get you through the holiday.
Food-coloring galore! Use green food-coloring to make healthy and festive snacks for you or your kids. Low POINTS value green milkshakes, anyone?
Pass the green tea, please. Besides all of the added benefits that green tea can provide, drinking this green beverage puts you in your own holiday spirit — a relaxed one.
Go for the true green. Taking a hike in the spring weather can be an excellent way to see some natural greens. Pack a lunch and hit the trails.
Make yourself a personal pot of gold. Write positive affirmations about yourself and your accomplishments on a slip of paper and keep them together in a little black pot. One day, that pot of goodness will make you feel rich.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!
:lucky:
Joe and I are having Reuben sandwiches today, since we're cooking the big meal on Saturday.
Terri,
Gee I never realized there were so many OTHER things to do on St. Pat's Day ;) those are some great suggestions.
The place you'll be staying at looks wonderful. Are the kids on spring break? What a great time you'll have!
Donna,
When are you having the surgery? I've heard tennis elbow is very painful, no wonder you're having sleepless nights. This is the best time of year to have it, you'll be healed and feeling much better by the time summer comes.
Dianne,
Having to explain the pin in my toe gets a mix of reactions. My brother works in a hospital and told me that many people react with a comment of "it makes my butt tighten" and we were  when he told us that, as we had never heard it before. But, apparently it's quite common! I'll stick with the flip flopping stomach!
The job is full-time, which will take some getting used to after being off 3 and a half years.
Congratulations to you and Willie  enjoy your day together.

Hi Gals :)
We did have our corned beef and cabbage yesterday. Mike is Irish and Dutch on his Mom's side, and totally Polish from his Dad. Usually the Polish cooking prevailed in his family, but on St Paddies day, we are all Irish here!
I worked out extra time at the club yesterday, trying to earn some activity points. I usually do lots of ab crunches thinking about losing that belly. But now I will try more butt crunching and aim for cute glutes. :jig:
Gotta go take Greg to school again. I will be back later!
Love ya all,

This looks like my place to be. I'm 47 and want to be thin by 48!!
I'm starting WW with my first meeting this Saturday. I gained 75lbs while pregnant with my first son in 1999, still haven't lost it. I used to be such an exercise fanatic, I would really like to get back to that mode. I don't have the energy but I'm hoping to find it.
I had my 2nd son, Ryan in Jan2003, thank goodness I only gained a little more than 20 lbs & lost it immediately. Whew!
I have tried Atkins, South Beach, & this is my 2nd time with WW. My main weaknesses are pizza & Coca Cola.
I can't remember.....is coffee allowed on WW? :^: I can't go without my caffeine! if it is allowed, any ideas to make it tasty without half and half??
I use Splenda to sweeten.
What a great group. Have a great day!!

Hi Karen.
WELCOME!!!!!
This is a great place to be. I did the same. I was at goal in 85' before I had my first and I lost the weight I gained with her but not with the boys in 91' and 93'. I finally rejoined in 2000 and lost 60# and am still working on keeping it off. It is tough but it is a lot easier with these great girls. My husband is Bruce and we have been married for 22 years and I have 3 kids ,Brittany,17 Brandon, 12 and Bradley, 11. I have a 3 year old dog named Tanner. We grew up in Ohio but moved to Fl. for 13 years and now live in Madison, Alabama. Tell us a bit more about you.
Hi Sandy. Never had Corn Beef and Cabbage. I think Bruce has some Irish but I am full blooded Italian and the most we ever did for St. Patty's day was where green. I did go to St. Johns Catholis School and we were the fighting Irish. Does that count?
Donna,
Good luck with your surgery. It will be so nice to have that annoying pain gone.
We are going t the Globetrotters tonight. Can't wait. I am taking a 2 point kudos bar so I won't be tempted to have concessions. Maybe I will take 2.

Karen,
My husband used to be skinny but like his family he gained in the last 6 years. He wants to lose about 20#.
What is your oldest son's name?
I forgot to give my 2 cents about coffee. I know many ww members that drink it. I used to but I switched to green tea about 2 years ago. I know the leaders say to not drink to much because caffeine makes you dehydrated. I think a couple cups a day is ok but drink plenty of water too.
The thing about the low carb diets is they aren't liveable, at least to me. Don't deprive me of anything or I will want it with a vengence. The one food I cannot have in the house is chips but on Sat. (the day of weigh-in) I get 2 small bags. I eat within points but on Sat. and Sun. I have salty fixes and then I am good to go for the week. No cravings. I know I can have them in just 6 days.
Good luck and we are here.

Welcome Karen! Now on this thread I have two friends who have names of sisters of mine. Terri and now you, Karen! LOL I have another sister named Mary so maybe we need to do some recruiting! :joker:
My name is Donna I am 44 years old, mother of a adopted daughter who is nine named Elena and wife of 18 1/2 years to Jim. I live in South Carolina. I have been on WW online since July and lost 30 pounds. I am now maintaining and finding it just as difficult as losing it. I love this plan though because you are not denied anything. You make the choices and you adapt your day accordingly to those choices. I was thin most all my life then midlife hit, stress with a child all of a sudden who has special needs (ADHD, bipolar) and the loss of my mother to breast cancer. I gained loads of weight. So, losing weight or watching what I eat was a major adjustment to me. Now my dh is experiencing that because he has always been very thin and now in the last couple of years since his mitral valve replacement surgery he has developed a cute tummy and needs to lose some before it gets out of hand like it did me. Being Italian and a great lover of Italian foods, cutting out pasta is not an option for him!
I love my coffee. I can't do without my coffee! :coffee: I also love teas as well. I think I may have a drinking problem!
Again, WELCOME and you will find this to be a big help in your journey.

Hello my buddies,
OK where do I start? I have been going thru **** with the she devil office manager. I've been very very emotional from anger. When I get really mad I cry so instead of pounchng her in her face I started getting people who were behind me 100% supporting me so that kind of helped out alot. During this time I started gaining weight(I thought) & I couldn't figure out why. My rings were tight, my shoes but then I started having a hard time getting out of bed in the middle of the night(to pee) because of the pain in my body. When I woke up Tuesday morning my feet were huge!!!! Everything hurt! I made an appt. & my Dr. ran all kinds of tests. Next day results came out fine. Now she's sending me to 2 specialists. A Cardiologist & Rheumatologist. She put me on Vicodin for the pain, water pills for the swelling. All I do is pee & she also gave me horse pills-potassium because of the water pills. She can not figure out why I'm retaining so much water. She said this is why I'm hurting all over, from the swelling.
Then on top of all that, me not feeling well, my SIL hasn't paid the mortgage in 7 mths so my brother's house is in foreclosure. See, this is what I mean about having your own business, you're never home. He's clueless on what goes on at home. The mortgage co. finally called him at the gym. He got so mad, he told her he was on his way home to kick her a**. My brother is not a violent person but has a very bad temper. When he got home the cops were there & arrested him so he spent the night in jail. I can't even imagine what his kids went thru. I haven't spoken to my SIL because I know I'm going to say something to her that I may regret later. He's back to work but I don't know what's going on with them. I can't handle the stress. I have to take care of myself. I have to call the cardiologist this morning. Their office hrs. are Mon. Wed. & Fridays from 9-5.
That's the story of my life. I've been out of the loop for so long so it's going to take days to catch up on all the posts.
I'll try & get in here at least once a day.
I love you guys & I've missed you all.
Big hugs!

I know a little swelling is uncomfortable. I can only imagine what you are going through. 7 MONTHS? What was she thinking? The poor kids. Let us know how they are doing also. It is so hard when you have to watch this but take care of yourself and do whatever the Dr. tells you. Get that bi*** from **** manager to answer to someone. I am so glad you didn't go to her by yourself. An office environment doesn't need this. Hope it is resolved soon. We missed you. Glad you are back.

Your health is the main concern; thank goodness the preliminary tests showed nothing. Stress can do incredible things to our bodies. Hope those specialists can help you get to the bottom of it.

Hi Buddies,
Es, sweetie, I am so glad to see you back again! We are always here for each other in both good times and bad. I am sorry to hear that you are going through a stressful time again. First of all, take care of your health issues. I hope it turns out to be something minor. I hate that water retention feeling even when it is PMS. I am glad that you have good medical specialists available to you, make sure they are thorough. Your poor brother! What was your SIL thinking???
About your office, I just went through a tough time with one of my clients and all I can say is thank goodness that you have the support of your co-workers.
Donna, good luck with the surgery next week, I'll keep you in my thoughts for a safe procedure. I had severe tendonitis a few years ago and had my right arm in a sling and was on anti-inflammatory drugs for a long spell. I couldn’t even lift a coffee cup when it was bad. :coffee2:
Jen, big congrats on getting the job. Full time, eh? I hope it won’t keep you too busy to visit with us often. Have a good time with the St. Pat’s party!
Karen, welcome to our group, it is a great place for support. You sound as if you have your days very full right now with your little ones. I am 51 and have two sons, Dave, who will be 23 this summer and Greg, who will be 17 on March 27th. Mike and I have been married for 27 years. He was always trim, but started to gain in the past few years(probably my cooking :D ) but he is exercising regularly lately and his weight is coming back down. I need to lose 62 lbs to get to my goal, but what I am aiming for right now is just to get from obese to merely overweight. I have been studying those darn BMI charts too much lately.
Dianne, Happy Anniversary, enjoy your special day together.
Terri, By the way that place looks like a lot of fun, How soon are you going?
Hugs to all,
Sandy

My 2nd time back here today.
The surgery I had has really confused me. Previously I had two c-sections, then an abdominal hysterectomy. When I learned I had to have surgery for my foot, I thought, "piece of cake"....and scheduled it.
Now we're in week 4 of this cast/boot and dependency, no driving, ....and when I spend too long on my foot it swells/hurts. I didn't realize how different this is from my previous surgeries. I've been on my foot a lot the last week or so, so now I'm hurting. Then I think, there are lots more worse off..........just deal with it!
Just venting......
~Jen
when i get the pin out on the 6th of april, he WILL give me the ok to get back on the treadmill! :crossed:

You sound so discouraged. It will get better. Remind me of this after I have my "piece of cake" on Monday. I know all this has gotten real old, just hang in there you will be back on that treadmill very soon!

Hi
Jen, my friend, I didn't even know you had surgery. :( I remember you saying you had to get surgery but I didn't know you had it already. Hope you feel better soon Sweetie. You have a job too? Geeezzzz I've really been gone long!!!
Sandy, I haven't spoken to my SIL. I have to see her today because today is my niece's sweet 16. I'm not staying long. Pete said I shouldn't go since I don't feel well but how could I not go to my Goddaughter's Sweet 16? I'll stay for 2 hrs. She's going to look beautiful. She's such a preety girl.
Dianne/Amiga, I sent you an e-card yesterday. Please forgive me, I think I added 3 n's to your name. I'm so out of it. Hope it was a happy one.
Terri, Karen, Janie, Ruth, Zoe & if I missed anybody forgive me. I'll be back tonight to let you know how the party went.
Love you,

Good morning buddies:
Thanks everyone for the anniversary wishes. We had a great day together - I'm so glad I took Friday off.
Es, mi amiga, I'm so sorry to hear about all the problems you've been having lately. But the most important thing you need to concentrate on now is your health. If you don't have that, you won't be strong enough to handle all the other crap going on. You have to take care of yourself, put yourself first! The whole office thing is very stressful and stress can do a lot to your health. I feel bad for your brother and the kids - but that's something he has to deal with right now. I'm soooooooooo glad you are back here with us. Do you have appointments with the specialists yet? Let us know, please.
Jen - Sorry to hear you're still in pain. I know you can't wait to have that boot off and to get back on the treadmill, but you can't rush it. Will you be able to get back and forth to work okay? Maybe, the job could let you start a little later? How was your St. Patrick's party?
Karen - The movie we went to see was the Jim Carey one - spotless mind? OMG, you need your mind to be on drugs to see this movie  What a weird one it was, I can't even put it into words. I can't believe the News gave it four stars - they must be on drugs
Donna - :goodluck: with the surgery tomorrow. Hope everything goes well and you have a speedy recovery. Which elbow is it? Will you still be able to post?
Hi Terri, Sandy, ZoeGirl and Janie
Going to see "the Jessa" today - her brother Michael is being "baptised" - he's 16 and decided on his own that he wants to be baptised. So, we get to see the whole gang today, since Darren and his family will be at the church also.
Have a great day everyone.
Hugs,

Okay Okay, Donna, another surgery I don't know about!!!!!! For what?
Dianne, did you get my card? The one that had Diannne? Glad to hear you had a good time. I don't care for Jim Carey too much. Too bad it was a waste of money. Awww a 16 yr. old wanting to get baptized. Here I go getting all teary eyed. God bless him. I got baptized in 1987. The whole family. It was very touching. We went to Sunken Meadow. The people there were looking at us like what bunch of nuts! Have a great time with the fam. ;)
The party was so cute. Alisa looked like a princess. Only one thing, she made a dedication to me & Pete & there went all the tears. It's on video. She made one to David to for being the cousin who watches over her & gives her advice about boys. It was very emotional but we had a good time.
I'm a basket case these days it has to be the change. I've always been an emotional person but not like I am now. I'm surprised people want to be around me. Dianne, we better hold off on our Spring meeting. The minute you say "hi Es"! I'll start crying! I sware I've lost it. :dizzy:
I have to see the cardio specialist March 29th & the rheumatologist ON MY BIRTHDAY! I'll keep you's(lol) posted. Back to work tomorrow. :( She-Devil comes back from vacation too.
Have a great day guys.
Till later.

Hi Es - no I didn't get your card. But don't worry about the 3 n's - usually I don't even get the 2  Most people write it with one n and I have people I know at my job for years and years and they still write it with one. Glad you enjoyed your niece's party - you would not have felt right if you missed it and I'm sure she's really glad you came. Don't stress about our spring meeting - there's always the summer or fall or winter. We don't live that far apart so whenever is good for me.
Hi everyone  Be back tomorrow.

Es,
What a special thing your niece did for you and Pete! What a beautiful moment. David must have been on cloud 9 with you guys. It shows how much you mean to her, you're obviously a great aunt!
Donna,
I'm hoping your surgery today went well, and that you're not in alot of pain. Do you have a cast? Take care and relax.
Dianne,
I won't rush things; I'm simply anxious, but realize I'll have to start slow. I did some shopping yesterday and today, and it's feeling pretty good actually. Each day is better.
Speaking of shopping, I needed to buy some clothes, since I've been basically wearing jeans and sweats for 3 years. My job before that didn't require anything other than slacks, as I wore a uniform shirt.
Yesterday my SIL and I went to Sears and found the mother of all sales....clearance racks of everything priced at $3.97 each, Liz Claiborne, etc. I bought tops and sweaters, slacks, it was unreal. Ended up with 6 pairs of pants, and 5 tops for $80. The regular price of everything was $370. What a great day, it was like Christmas
Our St. Pat's party was fun. We were up till 3 a.m., the usual madness. My niece brought her karaoke machine, it was a riot. Matthew climbed into our bed at 7 a.m. the next morning, so yesterday was a looong day after only 4 hours of sleep!
later,
~Jen

Donna - Hope surgery went well today and I wish you a speedy recovery!
Es, amiga - how are things - any better at work for you yet? And how are you feeling? Did you already see the specialist?
Hi Terri, Ruthie (where are you girl?), Sandy, Karen, ZoeGirl and Janie - hope you're all doing well.

:coffee: Hi Girls,
Donna, what was your surgery for? I hope you're not in too much pain. I take my pain meds. I took so many I got hooked once. That was when I had my shoulder surgery. I can't tolerate pain. I'm like a big baby. I hope you feel better soon. Take it easy.
Jen, you got some deal! WOW I have to go out & get a few outfits for work. With the swelling in my body even my shoes are smaller. So exciting it must be to go back to work. I've always worked. I don't mind staying home a few days but after awhile I get bored. Enjoy your r & r this weekend.
I missed Terri's birthday? When was it?:( Happy belated birthday my friend. :balloons:
My Dr. ran all kinds of tests & still can't figure out what's wrong with me. My body is just retaining water. My ankles & hands are still swollen. I have to see the cardiologist Monday afternoon. I haven't been able to exercise cause my ankles & feet swell up. I'm taking potassium, water pills & pain pills. I still have to work. If I didn't have so many bills I would have gone out on short term disability. I'll keep you all posted. I'm staying home all weekend. I have to keep my feet elevated. I'm keeping a positive attitude. Can't let it get to me cause it'll only make things worse.

Hi my buddies:
Jen - wow, it must seem strange to be thinking of starting work after 3 years. Its gonna be so cool for you. You're right to rest up this weekend and try to stay off your foot as much as possible. I can't wait to hear how your first day goes :smug:
Es - I'm sorry you're having such a hard time, amiga. It must be stressful not to know what's going on with your body. I hope they come up with something soon - in the meantime take good care of yourself - I know Pete will pamper you ;)
Donna - How't that elbow? Don't overdo :nono:
Well, I lost .4 this week - so that was cool - after my .6 gain. I was surprised I lost to tell you the truth, because the only time I exercised last week was last night. This week will be different. I already did my ww dvd this morning and then I walked in the park - 3 miles - I bought the ww pedometer finally to see how many miles I go around the track. It made me walk longer - I usually walk about 45 mins. but I was so excited to reach the 3 miles, that I kept going another 30 mins.
I have to get out there and walk as much as possible to practice - I've registered to walk in the AIDS WALK NEW YORK in Central Park in May. I have often thought about doing something like that and just never did it. So I registered and set myself a goal for donations of $500 and in 24 hours I had already received $300 towards my goal. I think I'll probably raise the goal. I'm excited about doing this. I love to walk and I believe this is such a worthy cause. So, anyway, I have to get stronger, cause in walking the 3 miles today, I struggled towards the end. And the walk in Central Park will be for 6 miles! And of course, I would like to finish the walk.
It was a beautiful day here in NY - 65 degrees - perfect for walking.
Well, let me get going on some dinner - I think I'll make a 3fatchicks receipe.
I hope you all have a great weekend. I'll talk to you's soon.

The elbow is feeling better each day. I just forget and do things I shouldn't. Already this sling is getting OLD and it's not been a week yet. I can't imagine you putting up with the boot, Jen! I have to wear it for two weeks. Almost halfway! ;)

Dianne,
Good for you! A loss of any type is swell :D. Very admirable about walking in the AIDS Walk. I'd love to sponsor you also (had a cousin who died of AIDS), will you let me? With practice, I'm confident you'll complete the 6 miles. How cool will that be? !
I'm looking forward to work. While being home has been fun, it's become boring at times, and I really miss the mental challenge. I'm not enthused about having to wear the boot the first 5 days on the job, but that can't be helped.
Donna,
Good to hear each day is better. I love how strong I feel after having been through surgery. Our bodies are amazing in how they heal themselves, aren't they?
Es,
How are you doing? Hope you're having a nice relaxing weekend. :goodvibes:
9 more days of this boot. There's no more pain to speak of, a twinge here or there. I'll see what the restrictions are after the pin is out. I'm not going to get my hopes up regarding exercising immediately. Simply resuming normal activities will be a treat. Having the boot off for good will be heaven....and a bath!!! I've never had a cast, that would be much worse, at least I can take the boot off to sleep, or when I watch tv, read, etc.

Good morning all:
Donna & Jen - thanks for the congrats on my mini loss - hey, it's a loss, right? Donna - good to hear you're feeling better every day - it won't be long and you'll be better than before.
Jen - Just think, in a year or two you and your co-workers can look back and laugh at the woman who came to work in an oversized boot on her first day  You can get their thoughts on their first impression of seeing you walk in with the boot! Aww, thanks for wanting to sponsor me on the AIDS Walk, that is really sweet of you. I will send you the info via e-mail tomorrow. I can't wait to get back in the office tomorrow to see how many more co-workers will donate - its exciting to see the figures go up. I'm not going to change the goal until I've reached about $400 or so. I'm more than halfway to my original $500 goal.
Willie and I are going to walk in the park in a little while. It certainly serves more than one purpose now. I'll be exercising for my weight loss, I'll be practicing for the AIDS Walk and Willie will be exercising too - that's an added bonus.
Well, gotta go get dressed - hope you all have a great day.

Hi Girls:wave:
Yesterday I stayed home & relaxed all day with my feet elevated. Pete pampered me all day. When I woke up this morning they were not as swollen so stupid me decided to go food shopping. I figured 1 hour or 2 hours shouldn't make them swell up. Well, guess what? My legs hurt the bottom of my feet hurt & my ankles are swollen again. I go to the cardiologist tomorrow. I'm going for an evaluation. I can't wait for this to be over with. I hate not knowing what's causing this. :(
Amiga, WTG with your loss. I admire you for doing the AIDS walkathon. My oldest brother died of AIDS in 1988. Send me the info too OK? I'll sponsor you.

Hi everyone!!!!
I haven't been able to read the posts yet but I will soon. I just wanted to let y'all know what surprise Bruce had for me on my birthday.
We got back from Tennessee (The cabin was unbelievable- I want to live in it) on Thursday and on Friday Bruce took me to the Marriott and we got on the consier (spell?) floor (The kind you have to have a key to get there) and it was the Sweethearts Package. I got Champaign and roses and chocolate strawberries and cream. Dinner and 2 breakfasts are included. On my actual birthday Bruce left me alone for 6 hours to do whatever and he picked me up at 9:00 and we went downstairs to a Limo. The driver was there with the red carpet and roses waiting. I have never been in a limo before. It was so exciting. We went to an exclusive restaurant and got the best table. I guess it is one you have to reserve months ahead of time. It is in a room all itself. Then after dinner we went for a 2 hour drive up on the mountain and all over Huntsville. Bruce bought me some perfume (Kenneth Cole). I haven't had perfume in years. I wore my new outfit and new shoes. I haven't worn high heels in a long time either. It felt so good. He also gave me a bath set. It had everything I needed for the weekend. We left the hotel on Sunday afternoon. It was a good week and now back to reality.
I will catch up tonight.
Love y'all,
Terri

Es,
I am sooooo glad it isn't your heart. What is the next step? When I was about 180 pounds we drove to Florida
so I was in the car for about 12 hours and when I got out my foot was triple the size. It took about a day and a half to go down. That was the only time it did that.
How is everything else?
Jen,
Good luck tomorrow.
Bruce has always been like this. He did even more this time because it was a 45th birthday. He has always been romantic. Even at 17.
I still didn't get a chance to catch up. I will tomorrow. I had an appointment with my thyroid Dr. My cholesterol is 227. I have to get it down. I eat well and exercise so it might be medicine for me. My parents did everything to get theirs down and they couldn't. He will check it again in July.
I'll read tomorrow.

Thanks my friends, for all your good vibes :goodvibes: You all are so special to me. I really mean that. I tell Pete all the time.
Terri, I've had high cholesterol for as long as I can remember. I think when I got pregnant(16) it showed up in my blood work. Ever since then no matter what I tried it was always high. With exercise the good one stays high which my Dr said is a good thing. At one time it went up to 307! Now it's 210, with medication. My sister got side affects from the medication but I didn't.
Bruce sounds like such a nice guy. You make a great couple.
Awwww Donna, thanks. :) I think Jen keeps up with the threads. Are you feeling better? We're getting rain the next few days which means lots of aches & pains.
Jen, I am very excited for you. I always brown bag. I eat healthier that way. Keeps me on track. I wish I could take off but the other secretary is on vacation. I'm taking off the last week in April for 1 week. I can't wait. Good luck tomorrow. ;)

P.S. I think Es' birthday is in April???  I think we were wishing you a happy birthday!
Hi Donna  how's the elbow?

Dianne, you're right. My birthday is April 26th but if they want to wish me a Happy Birthday 1 month earlier that's okay. :D
Terri, I was wishing you a Happy Belated Birthday but somehow we all got confused. So funny!
Sandy, same thing happened with my 14 yr. old nephew My SIL was devastated. Probably he was influenced by a certain crowd. They think it's cool. So sorry. :(
My monitor is getting on my nerves it keeps blinking so I'm going to make this short in case I lose the post.
My ankles are still swollen. Now I have to see a Vascular Specialist next week. They have no idea what's causing this swelling.
Let me go. This blinking is becoming very annoying.
Hugs to all.
Es

Hi,
My first day went well. It looks as though it will be a great place to work. I'm very happy to be out of the private sector, and working for a municipality. The building (village hall) I work in has an employee Wellness Center, equipped w/treadmills, weights, eliptical trainers, bikes....for us to use for free, 24 hours a day. How cool is that? There are alot of employee events, awards, etc. They seem to really care, and the employees are very happy. It's almost too good to be true.
Es,
I got confused, reading the birthday wishes! It's such a shame about the swelling. Let's hope they get to the bottom of it; you must be getting impatient, I would be.
I'm tired, have to get used to the daily grind ;) now that my time is not my own!
HI to all  Terri, Dianne, Sandy, Donna, Ruth, Zoe

I guess it's my fault, Es for wishing you a happy birthday one month earlier. It's just how I read Terri's post I guess. I thought it said you and hers b-day were a couple of days apart. I'm sorry. :sorry: I guess I am blonder than I pay to be.
Jen, I'm glad your first day went so well! It DOES sound too good to be true! :lol3: But take it for now! :) That is great that you have all that equipment at your disposal.
Have a good day today, ladies!

Hi guys:
Es - Is your monitor still blinking? How are you feeling?
Jen - So glad your first day was such a hit - I'm sure you'll love it there - it sounds like a warm and fuzzy place to work. Cool about the exercise equipment - I hope you do better than I with that. Here at the University, we have a gym and I don't think I've ever been inside it  I should take advantage, but I'd have to do it after work because I don't like the idea of getting sweaty at lunch time and going back to work :p
Donna - how's your elbow coming along?
Sandy - How is Greg doing? Is he still talking to a therapist about his depression etc.? My thoughts are with you all.
Hi Terri, Ruthie, ZoeGirl, Janie and Karen. Have a great day everyone.
My Alana comes home tomorrow for Easter break and will be home for 11 days :smug: We'll bond
Hugs,
Dianne

Dianne,
The benefits director who showed me the wellness center says she only uses it after work, because, in her words, she "doesn't glisten...she sweats!? so she doesn't use it during lunch,, etc. since we have the treadmill from Joey here at home, my main goal is to use it before my shower, and work, each morning. when I get in better shape, I think I'll use the center at work.
That will be so nice for you to have Alana home!
Donna,
the blonde comment was too funny. How are you feeling?
Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi...My name is Linda. I've been on WW all my life, well seems like it ;). And this is the first time that I've managed to stick with it! It's taking me forever, but I've lost 25 lbs and still have about another 25 to go before I'm at my personal goal. I've been doing it at home and had been having great success until the board that I use to belong to started to die out. So, along with that my motivation went out the window. :stress:
I found 3FC about a year ago and would come here for recipes only. I never realized what a wonderful site this was until I started lurking and reading all the great posts. So I registered, and peeked around some and thought that maybe I could call this forum home.
I'm married to a great man, have a 14 year old son and I'm 53.
So do you think there's room??:sunny:

Hi Linda,
and WELCOME!!! of course there's room. Congratulations on your 25 pound loss, that's a great achievement :cp: This is a very friendly group...we range from those who have reached goal to those of us who persevere and not give up :o
Hope you come back often, I look forward to getting to know you.
HI to everyone. We'll need to go to a new thread soon, but since I have a meeting in less than an hour, I don't have the time to change it. If anyone wants to do it, I won't be offended, it was never my plan to be the thread-keeper
have a great weekend,

Hi Girls:wave:
Welcome Linda. My name is Essie but all my friends & family call me Es for short. I'll be 50 4/26. I've been married for 24 years & have one son, & 2 dogs. I've been on WW on & off for years. I've tried other diets but was never successful. I'm still struggling but I won't give up. Congrats on your loss. ;)
Jen, sounds like a really nice job. I could never workout on my lunch hour. I sweat alot too. I've stopped exercising. I want to find out what's wrong with me first. My ankles are still swollen. I can't be on my feet too long. Very frustrating believe me. Other than that I'm feeling fine.
Dianne, the monitor is fine now. It was just that night. I think if it would have kept on I would have thrown it on the floor. I had so much water in my body that when I took the water pills I lost 7 lbs. the first week.
Well, gotta go girls. Pete is getting ready to leave for work. I'll be back tomorrow.
Hugs,
Es

Good saturday morning everyone
Linda, there's always room at the inn - welcome, welcome, welcome :smug: Congrats on your loss. I am a lifetime "paying" member of ww, which means I reached goal at one point and then unfortunately lost it again  I'm back now, have lost about 12 lbs. and have another 8 lbs to reach ww goal and 13 to reach my personal goal. I'll get there, slowly but surely. This is a great group and we talk about everything including weight loss ;)
Jen - How's it going on the job? So far, so good? I'll wait for someone else to start the thread since I've never done it and don't want to mess anything up - I'd have us on #350 and somewhere else entirely on the board - lost in cyberspace  :p
Es - Sorry to hear about the swelling still bothering you. Wow, 7 lbs - that's a whole lotta water. I hope they find out what's going on soon and you can get back to normal.
Alana came home last night and she and I are going to a bridal shower today. My ex-sister-in-law's son is getting married and its his fiance's shower. We've also been invited to the wedding. I have remained friends with my in-laws and they always include us in special occasions.
Well, let me get going - I need a :coffee: desperately. Hi to Terri, Sandy, Ruthie, ZoeGirl and Janie.
Have a great day everyone,
Hugs,
Dianne
P.S. I raised $745 for the Aids Walk in one week, so I'm now gonna raise my goal to $1,000. Its really going well.
See ya later

Mi Amiga, :cb: :encore: :cheer: $745!! How cool is that! This walk means a lot to me. If I wasn't feeling like a balloon I would have participated. You go girl. I have a bridal shower for next Saturday. The wedding is in August. The hottest month of the year which means bad hair day. I HATE AUGUST!!!! I have to go. Pete's already saying we can't afford it. I know we can't but I have to find a way. I ignore him cause he always says that.
