View Full Version : Anyone tried Slimming World?

I have been on a training event today and one of the girls there is on the Slimming World diet. It sounds just what I am looking for. It sounds like there are a lot of free foods.

I was just wondering if anybody here is following this or has in the past?

Would love to hear from you.

Hey Super, my daughter lost 2sts on SW. I tried to do it here but could'nt follow it to the letter because of the branded foods that i can't get here. The only thing that i could complain about was lack of bread..i eat too much of that  you really can stuff your face on this plan as long as you can live with the red and green days and weigh out a few things.

I may be joining SW but I don't know if I'll be able to cope with the plan being a fussy vegetarian. I know people who are going for the first time next week help. Should I go? :?: :dizzy:

Bread! I love bread...I don't know if I could deal with less of it.

I hardly eat any bread at the moment. Veggie, the girl I was talking to was telling me about all the pasta, rice, jacket potatoes etc that she eats. In fact everything she mentioned was vegetarian. She also said that she eats bread but can't remember how much she said or on what days.

I heard that the Bachelors pasta and sauce packets are free from sins on a green day too (apart from the macaroni cheese one), I love the cheese and broccoli one - yummee.

I'm thinking about biting the bullet and starting on Monday. Am going to go on my own but hubby will have to pick me up afterwards.

I've never tried Bachelors pasta and sauce packets told you I'm fussy :o I have a thing against broccoli but I may get one to try.

Superwitch

You can hardly taste the broccoli in them. They are really tasty. I love them but they are something like 14 points on WW which is why I haven't had them in ages - lol.

In the magazine they list all the free foods that you can eat on the 'green' and the 'red' days i.e. Princes Beef and Red Wine or Icelands Good Choice chicken breasts in white wine and mushroom sauce (sound good?) are all free foods on and Original/Red Day...Marks and Sparks Vegetable Medley and Heinz Rigatoni pasta are free on Green Days..don't know how they do it when you can eat a can of spaghetti which contains about 300cals and it be free  but it does work..i lost 4lbs the first week don't know why i did'nt keep it up  i either got fed up with the eggs for brekky or it was the no more than 2 slices of bread that i could'nt do without and i did'nt want to use my sins on bread  i was saving them for beer or chocolate
I'm going to start either this or W.W. again ;)

Veggie, if you're a vegetarian i don't really know what you'd get out of it unless you were going to follow green days every day  you might learn a few new recipes but thats about all..it would'nt hurt to go to just one meeting anyway, right?

Super, are you going to live on Batchelors Pasta and Sauce packets then? i know that Batchelors Potatoes and sauce (the cheddar cheese ones excluding milk and butter) are free on green so i substituted Idahoan Spuds over here..don't know if they are equivalent or not but i love them :T

Superwitch
03-06-2004, 05:09 PM
can I make up those potatoes with just water then? this diet sounds better all the time - lol. I really could live on those pastas - lol. Seriously though, I will probably just take them to work for lunch.

Am going to ask my mum to drop me at the meeting o the way home from work on Monday and get my husband to pick me up.

Hi!

just thought I'd chip in as I've done both SW and WW.

I am a vegetarian and stuck to 'green days' everyday. i consistently lost 1 - 2lb a week. On green days you can eat unlimited pasta, rice and potatoes. SW does limit your bread - the most you can have is 4 slices per day, and after that it is very high in 'syns' (I know it's a stupid word!)

You can eat ALOT on SW - there a loads of processed foods that are free, including pasta and sauce (if not using butter).

One thing I have found is that treats are quite high in points on SW - you only get 10 syns a day, and a pack of Walkers crisps are about 8 points - so it makes it really hard to work them into your diet. On WW, Walkers crisps are 4 points and I get 26 points a day so I can fit treats in easily, and still lose weight! This makes it easier for me to stick to in the long term - sometimes you just want chocolate!

I am now doing WW - I think I just wanted a change really. I think that SW teaches you very little about healthy eating and portion control - I used to eat HUGE plates of pasta and loads of ready meals. You certainly won't go hungry on the SW diet! One bad thing I've heard is that ALOT of people end up putting the weight back on with SW -I did, maybe because they haven't really learnt about healthy eating and portion control?

I'm certainly not against SW - You will definately lose weight on it!

Hope this helps!

Thanks for all the info  I'm only going as other people are (if I do go that is) :dizzy: I'd be happier if they were going to WW I did the online plan for a bit and it was great. I don't think it really matters what plan I'm on. I just need to cut down. ;)

I lost a few stone with WW before I got married but have put it all back on (nothing to do with WW - I just have no will power - lol). I have tried to get back on plan with WW but can't find the motivation. I only get 20 points a day (in fact they cut me down to 18 at one point). My main problem is that the portion sizes are too small for me on WW. I can go without chocolate as long as I can have huge bowls of pasta etc - lol.

I don't really know much about SW except for the girl that I was talking to said that the syns are higher than WW point but there are far more "free" things on SW which suits me fine. She said that she was on 15 syns a day but she wasn't particularly large, wierd).

Hi Superwitch.

I was on Slimming World for quite a time and am planning to return - Well I am still eating the things I would have done on SW but not attending classes. Our leader left so I will join my friend in her new class. I will probably join up again around Easter Time. Incidentally I did go to WW ages ago but was always hungry and headachey which never happend on this SW one. I used to get al the slimming mags and was impressed at the veggie reciipes in Slimming World. Too often the other mags would eithr ignore that a thing as vegetarianism existed or would tell you to just leave the ham or avoid the recipe qall together and have beans on toast instead! Veggie why not buy the mag before you join and see what you think.

Veggie - Have no fears I have been Vegetarian for around 22 years and the Green Plan suits me just fine! If you are okay to eat Quorn - a lot of the ready meals (though not all) are point free. YOu can have Macaroni cheese (check Syn value -but the tinned stuff was free - ok not haute cuisine but alright with a jacket spud).

Yes Superwitch you can eat rice, pasta and spuds! Hoorah! Look out the Marks & SPencer count on us mash - these are (or were) 'free'. I had just that for a lunch (they do mash with cabbage or an oniony or is it leek one. Very filling. I think as well as a swede one if you are into that (yuck!). Don't go the full fat one with mature cheddar though. Yes it is lovely but oh so naughty! These can be nuked in the microwave.

Yes the Batchelors Pasta n'Sauce are very good (if a little too flavoured) The mushroom one is my fave. I try not to eat too many packets of food and try to get those packets of ready to nuke vegs. Due to unfortunate circs (having to share a kitchen with people who (practically live in it and I am not fond of waiting hours for the electric oven to heat up) unable to spend lot of time preparing and cooking llke I used to so have to rely on microwave a lot of the time.

The green diet while not totally veggie (if you want you can add small amounts of meat and fish as long as it counts as a healthy option or you add up the syn values), but the Red diet is meaty and fishy and you would have to add syns or healthy options for the pasta, rice and so on.

Yes everyone misses bread - you can eat it but you have to be aware of how much it "costs" syn wise. A simple sandwich is using up syns and even then you are not necessarily full after wards. The weightwatchers and nimble breads are lowest in "syns"

I am not that bothered about ordinary sliced bread but it is the speciality breads I miss. Ah well...

I have made some great recipes and I am thrilled that you can cook no/low syn version of things such as (a personal fave) falafels. These are baked rather than fried.

The green recipe book has a number of recipes in it including a number of Indian ones so have no fear this is not a bland "diet".

Reading what Amanda said about putting on weight afterwards - I think that is true of any "diet" if you don't keep up the good intentions. However I find I am able to get back in the saddle with SW far quicker than with WW. What everyone has to remember is to check on the Syn value before hand. Even an item labelled low fat , low calorie can come up high. I bought a tin of WW rice pud. Let me tell you it was disgusting and to add insult to injury it was high in Syns!

Mueller light yoghurts are a fave of SW's but please not these are no good for conscientious veggies as most light yogs have gelatine in and these certainly do.

I am not completely sure about SW diet as have not been before but rfom what I can see, this might be one diet that you might get away with that although you should try to eat some fruit and veg whether dieting or not. It doesn't have to fresh fruit and veg, it could be juice, soup, frozen, tinned, dried. I am lucky because I like fruit and veg but I know that there are plenty of people who don't. Why not add a new thread asking for new ways to eat fruit and veg?

The only thing to be very careful with is not to do fruit smoothies. These are ladled with calories (after all there are 80 in a glass of orange juice alone!). As my ex SW leader explained when having a smoothie you can gulp down loads without realising it whereas you would not be able to eat the same amount of fruit raw!

Certaily you can have as much cooked veg as you like. Just don't deep fry it! Steamed would be good because it keeps in the vits and the veg tastes more of the veg itself. Don't go putting butter on it all though (I still have to wean myself off doing this from time to time!).

SW- I hope you enjoy going to Slimming World. Don't worry if at first it sounds barmy or you think it is just you that cannot get to grips with it. We are here to help! It took me a while. One good product they will tell you about is the spray oil which has minimal calories/syns. The sunflower one is better as some people don't like the taste of the Olive oil one.

All you have to remember is, if you start the day on a red day you have to stick with it. If however you are going out and have no idea what you will be eating later- plan ahead by having cereal for brekkie then perhaps an egg sarnie and then you can either go green or red for dinner!

By the way, I am sure "Hammy" or whaever your hamster is called is quite put out by you dissing his food. Remember sunflower seeds give him that glossy coat!

Hmmm, had a good look at SW's 'diet' last night and i remember now why i could'nt keep it up  i got sick of the oven baked fries and the idea of a poached egg with syn free chips and mushy peas was :p i could have had one fried in fry light but even so the diet seemed very bland after a while :( i'm sure all you UK'ers who can get your hands on the pre-packaged "free" foods will do really well..i know when i used to get the mag and see all the yummy grub that was free (and i can't get) it used to make my mouth water  GOOD LUCK :lucky: to all of you who are going to start this :) think it will have to be calorie counting for me.

Lettuce eating goldfish?! That I cannot believe!

We used to give our mouse cheesey footballs. Are you old enough to remember them? The round things. The heighth of sophistication at dinner parties ..not. I think Will Self mentioned them on room 101 once. Well Kipsy our mouse loved them. We also had a mouse called Jerry. 3 hamsters too. I miss having the litte fellas around. They are so comical. My dad used to let one out when I had gone to sleep. For some reason he fed it raw spaghetti bits and you could see the thing sticking out. The same one got under the floor boards where the forgotten apples were . You know the ones you store away and forget about. They were well cidery when the hamster found them and was quite drunk (probably with a little hangover too) when my dad found her. She probalby started a fight with him as well!

Linus, if you're suffering from headaches with your withdrawal from caffiene, make sure you drink loads of water luv. I never, NEVER used to drink water unless it had some flavour and now I don't ever drink less than six HUGE glasses a day and that's not counting my cuppa's.
I set myself times to drink as I found it hard, but it's just part of my life now. I drink my cuppa first thing, six a.m. Then a glass of water, then breakfast with another glass before work. At lunch time I drink water and a cuppa, when I get home I drink a glass, one with dinner and then one during the evening, and sometimes I drink more because I'm just plain thirsty.
I do tend to stay away from soda but do have a treat of the diet vaariety every now and then, and I'm not a big acoholic drinker so I find it easy to deal with that. So drink, drink, drink luv, and be merry. On water of course :)

cat90
03-13-2004, 04:37 PM
Have they changed it then? on my list you can only have ONE choice from the A list and TWO from the B list i.e. if you want milk on your cereal then the milk would be your healthy extra from the A list, if you wanted some cheese too then you would have to count that as sins :dunno: the cereal would be a choice from your B list and that would leave you with one more choice to make from your B list..all the rest is from the free food list.

Yes it's two from A and two from B but I dunno if you can pick two of the same.

peacock 2
03-14-2004, 07:36 AM
I wouldn't have thought it mattered really as long as you can take two things. Therefore if you don't want milk at all you still get your calcium by haing 2 cheese choices instead. If you want to use milk AS WELL, then you would have to coint the third choice as a syn. (MInd you I never used to consult the "yellow" book myself so who am I to say :)

It does'nt matter Veggie you can pick 2 of the same if you want to ;)

I've just looked at the website and what i find weird now is that they say to choose once or twice from the milk section but it does'nt even mention cheese :?: i guess they've tweaked the plan like W.W. does from time to time.

Superwitch
03-14-2004, 05:20 PM
The lady that explained it to us (me and another newbie) last week said that it can be 2 milk, 2 cheese or one of each. Apparently they had to change it as some council or other on healthy eating said that they had to add more calcium to the diet. The second one is optional but they say it won't slow your weight loss.

I have to say that I am finding this diet far easire than any other I have tried - so much so that I am worried that when I get on the scales tomorrow I won't have lost anything - lol. I have stuck to the diet religiously.

I have had maninly green days. I did have one red day but woke up in the night hungry (used to happen to me a lot of WW) but haven't had that at all on the green days.

I haven't made the Syn free chips yet but they sound good. Another tip that somebody gave me was to brush them with Marmite before cooking (I would think that it would be a marmite/water solution).

My fave thing on this diet has got to be that Batchelor Pasta and Sauce are free (most flavours) on a green day. I love them.

I even went to the cinema the other night. I took a 30g bag of Butterkist (5.5 Syns for 28g so I counter 6) and had a latte (took the milk out of my Healthy Extras).

I even had a bacon and fried egg sandwich for breakfast yesterday. 3 Iceland Good Choice bacon medallions (healthy extra - 75g - book says you can have 85g) Egg fried in a good non-stick pan with Fry-light and 2 slices of wholemeal bread (healthy extra - small slices).

Ihave been eating maninly free meals and saving my Syns for a treat. Today I had a 2 finger KitKat (5.5 Syns).

I like the fact that I can have as much free fruit as I want as well.

I would recomend the Food Directory. It has been a life saver for me this week. I am yet to look up something that isn't in it.

Wish me luck tomorrow.

Well done veggie and super- weigh to go (lol!). I agree those Batchelor pasta packets are good. I especially love the mushroom one. How are you enjoying the classes? In our old class we could not be bothered with games as such, we just used to chat about our week and how we got on, what food we have discovered and such like. We all preferred to do that and our old leader was happy with this but apparently they were supposed to do games and stuff.

My friend is not sure if she will bother going to the class anymore. She said we could still meet up though. I may then go back to the old class with the new leader but won't stay afterwards if they do the games. If my friend does continue at another class I can go with her. I don't 'need' to have someone to go with though.

Anyway, again, well done you two!

LMAO - does anyone else keep getting the win your weight in Kronenburg pop up - lol. Do they not know that this is a site for people who want/need to lose weight - lol. Could end up costing them a fortune and I am sure that it wouldn't do much for our diets - lol.

Just been to Slimming World and have lost 4lb. Am really please as I was worried that I wouldn't have lost anything as it didn't feel like a struggle.

Just wanted to share some of my fave free meals with you:

Iceland Good Choice Mashed Potato
Quorn Sausages
Baked Beans

Jacket Potato and Baked Beans

Batchelors Pasta and Sauce (broccoli and Cheese)
New Potatoes
Peas

All of the above are quick to prepare and free on a Green Day

Bolgnaise and salad

Free on a red day as long as you have no pasta and the bolognaise is made from lean mince and free ingredients for the sauce.

I nuke the Pasta n' sauce though.

I nuke the pasta and sauce too. Have to confess that I was so hungry when I got home from work the other night that I nuked the quorn sausages too and they weren't too bad. I actually put the frozen mash in a casserole dish. Put the lid of the casserold dish on upside down and put the sausages on that. I nuked it all at once - lol - lazy or what - lol.

What a pain about the freezer Peacock. I couldn't live without my freezer.

Has anyone used the on-line Syns calculator for SW? You need a password from your group leader (each group has a different one) and you need to register but it is good. There are various on-line tools on the site. I have used the calculator a few times today.

I am currently eating M&S Smokey Ham Flavour Bagel Bakes (Count on Us) 4.5 Syns.

Hi SUper.

Yes I tried the online syns before you needed a password. It was ok but not always had the things you wanted and had to remember how they spelt the shops like Marks & SPencer - could never remember if they liked it Marks and SPencer or Marks & Spencer. Very frustrating.

Also, my friend said her class had a different password every week. Crikey.

I had my fave Quorn sausages last night in the hopsital canteen! Along with mash and cabbage together (their version of colcannon I guess for St Patrick's Day). Yummy with onion gravy. COr! No I haven't thought of the syns involved!

lol @ Veggie's stomach touching. I was so worried last week. I didn't think that I would have lost any weight as I didn't feel like I had punished myself enough - lol. The Pasta and Sauce packets are yummee (even made with skimmed milk and no btter - lol). The mushroom and wine was my fave but I can't find it in the shops. My second fave is Cheese and broccoli.

Hi Peacock,

I think all the groups passwords change every week. They have an on-line calculator now so all you need to do is put in any free ingredients and then it asks for cal, carb etc (usually found on food packs anyway) and it then calculates the Syns for you. You don't even havt to name the product.

I've been on SW off and on for the last 10 months. I'm now on it again to push those last 4 kilos. I'm not sure of pounds, as my scales are in kilos only - I live in France - but so far have lost 10kg. I had a brief stint of about a month on Atkins - didn't lose weight, but changed my whole body shape. I found Atkins too restrictive and love SW as I'm never hungry.

I see mention has been made of the Batchelors pasta & sauce, but what about their savoury rice (free on green, horrendously high in syns on red)? Our favourite meal is home made curry with a curry savoury rice and a tin of bombay potatoes (check supermarket brands as most, but not all, are free). Tons of fat free yoghurt mixed with a spoon of two of mint sauce. Fab. It does help that we travel frequently between the UK and France to stock up on syn free stuff, as it's difficult to find anything other than basic foods here.

Has anyone got a good recipe for ice cream using Mullerlight? I have an ice cream maker.

Hope to be a regular here.

Hi please do become a regular more the merrier :coffee: From sw site -

To make Slimming World’s basic Free ice cream you will need:
2 x 200g pots of Mullerlight yogurt
1 x 500g pot very low fat natural fromage frais
Artificial sweetener, to taste

Method:
It’s so simple! Stir the yogurts and fromage frais together, sweeten to taste and pop in a freezer-proof tub. Place in the freezer and lightly whip approximately every 30 minutes to break down any ice crystals that are forming. Because all the ingredients are Free, it doesn’t matter how often you lick the spoon! Your ice cream should be ready in a couple of hours (if there's any left!)

There are no end of flavours you can make using this simple ice cream recipes – here are some of our personal favourites:

tremendous toffee and vanilla flavour - made with 1 Toffee and 1 Vanilla Müllerlight yogurt, swirled together before popping into the freezer
chocolate heaven – use a couple of chocolate flavoured yogurts. If you fancy adding a crunch, what about adding a mini bag of (crushed) Maltesers? The whole dessert is a delicious 5 Syns!
fruity peach melba – using a peach and pineapple or peach and maracuya yogurt and a raspberry and cranberry yogurt. Fresh chopped peach and a handful of fresh or frozen raspberries make this simple ice cream into a fabulous dessert!
hokey pokey – use two vanilla yogurts, add a tablespoon of runny honey and serve with a fun-size crunchie bar crumbled on top! This fabulously indulgent pud is 5½ Syns in total and if you’re feeling generous will serve 2-4 people!

Same here Veggie it is a cruel world isn't it?. I tried the Sveltesse ones which are supposed to be v low in fat and calories (they seem very thn and synthetic but there you go and do not containe Gelatine - at least not the ones I tried), but in the book of Syns (sounds like something from the Bible!), they only mentioned a few flavours and they were in the region of 2 or so syns each, whcih I suppose isn't too bad. Sadly though I have noticed that most things like yogurt if it is very low in fat it has gelatine in it. Marks & Sparks desserts nearly all have it in. What's wrong with veggie ok thickening ingrediants then? Carragen, Locust bean gum and pectin - if they can use them in somethings why not others. Grrr!

Sounds as if you're living wher I do. I live in France and there is a lot of open space here as well. I, too, dream of getting back into my leather trousers. Not far to go now and all thanks to SW. Keep it up -it's worth it!

Morning all

Well its Friday and for once the boss is in a meeting and I can log on here and catch up on the gossip. I am feeling a little sorry for myself today, I was at the dentist yesterday and had 3 roots removed, my mouth is so sore I cant eat or drink much which is not good. No coffee or hot food for me today in fact not a lot of anything.

Phil and I have just booked a trip back to the UK for the end of May, as we are off to a wedding so we decided to see the familys as well so will be there a week. We have also decided to go to Daytona on October for the bikeOctfeast and on to Vegas for our anniversary and Phils b'day (we married in Vegas on Phils birthday in 2001). So I must concentrate on getting the rest of this weight gone so I can shop till I drop in Vegas.

Oh well I just wanted to say Hi and wish everyone a happy weekend

Val

Ended up going for an indian at lunchtime think between the curry sauce, the pakora and the naan bread I have had around 25 syns - not much fun. But hey I had only used 5 for the week, so now I've used 30, still got another 40 to play with. At least I am having a green day and I stuck to vegetable curry with boiled rice :)

So much for my nice healthly salad

I had frozen asda curry 5.5 syns (luckily only like rubbish curry. ) Don't worry if you go over your syn allowance a bit Carol. Cat is right it is flexi syns. You just count them then carry on with your normal daily amount.

Just added my weight loss on the slimming world website, on current form I could weigh what I want by the 16th August 2004. Nice dream, think once i put in a couple of more weeks, it will become a bit more realistic.

I like the idea of flexible syns, but I am going to try and cut back on the number of syns I have for the rest of the week. Mostly I use them for sauces to put on meat and vegs and there are loads of free ones of those

I did mean all the syns in the wine and the gin and still be the loser of the week. :) Just re-read that and it sounds bad but you know what I mean. You are the one who loses the most in the week at your club, just had to keep in it to make you smile :) :)

I too have more than 3 stone to lose, would like to lose at least 5, but like Kirsty everyone in my group is on 10 syns a day. Maybe I should try eating (should read DRINKING) more wine and see if it helps, but then I know the answer to that already.

Well I dont have that much weight to lose but I am sticking to the diet (without the club).
I am giving myself 10 syns a day but am probably having no more than 5.
How much weight should I expect to lose a week do you think, I'm not too sure whether this diet is going to work for me and I dont want to keep on with it if I'm only going to lose a tiny amount of weight when I could try something else.

The diet (I'm veggie so just doing green days) really doesnt seem that different to what I normally eat except I'm cutting out oil and margarine so any tips to get a decent weightloss quickly?

When I fall off it I fall off it with style. Also had a load of wine, which I have no syns for :(

Am going to have a red day today and once i have managed to get some clothes on am going to walk up to the co-op in the rain and get some bacon for breakfast and some ham for lunch and chicken and veggies to stir fry for dinner. Is a two mile round walk so will do me the world of good

Hi all

This could be a long one so go grab a coffee, sit back and relax......

Its been a while since I could get on to the site, work has been hectic and my Manager sits just by me so I haven't be able to sneak on.

Anyway everything is going to plan,I have now lost 27 pounds so am well on target for losing 2 stone before I come back to the UK for a week at the end of the month. After that I want to aim for the other 2 and half stone before October when we go to Florida.
Phil has now lost a stone and a half and is doing really well.

Letting you know how I am doing isn't the only reason I logged on today, I really want to help someone who is very special.
My best friend and I have been mates for 22 years, she was my daughters childminder when she was little and has always been there for me no matter what. She has seen me on countless diets (and agrees the only one that seems to work is SW), she has seen me through divorce and bad relationships, she even took my daughter to live with her for 3 months so she could take her exams at the school she had been to since she was 11 when my ex husbnad found out where I was living and I had to pack up and move to the other end of the country to escape from him.
Anyway Eilleen has been told she has to loose weight because of her health, now Eilleen is on disability benefits and can't afford to go to a SW class, the nearest one is quite a distance away but she has seen the results of SW on me and would like to give it a try. (If Iwas living in the UK I would pay for her but I'm not so I can't) I have suggested that she buy the SW magazine and have promised to support her as much as I can, we speak every week so thats not a problem.
Is there anyone here who is doing SW and who lives in the Sydenham/Forest Hill area of South East London, who would be willing to be a mentor for Eilleen on a local level. It would be nice to know she had someone other than me to talk to on a regular basis (calls to Ireland are international so if she was having a bad day she may not be able to call me). She has got access to her grandsons computer but hasn't used it yet, she ig going to get an email address and I have told her about this site so she may join us eventually.
Eilleen has set a start date of July 1st, a long way off I know but she has a few things to sort out first. I guess she will have at least 4 stone to loose if not more.

If any one would be willing to give moral support to Eilleen or can offer suggestions on how I can help, please let me know.

Well folks thats all from me for now I wish you all success this week and Iwill speak to you soon

Smiling Sal
05-09-2004, 03:25 PM
I'm at the wrong end of the country but she is very lucky to have a friend like you. Maybe once she gets on her grandsons computer she can come and chat here and we can all help out that way

I'm not going to the meetings I'm doing it through buying a book on ebay. I started with the main book and since then I've bought the free branded foods book and the syn directory and I'm managing ok. Then I have a group of other friends on a diet and we check in with our weightloss every week online so its like having a support group.
If she is on benefits the local library is a good option as previously stated, and most towns have a learn direct centre also where you can do some courses for free if you are on benefits and use the internet that way.

Val A
05-10-2004, 06:02 AM
Thanks for the messages

There isn't a public libary near Eilleen, the mobile van comes round one a week but know internet there. Shewill have access to the net once her Grandson lets her that it.

I have ordered some books for her so they should help. The main problem i think she will have is motivation, her daughters just say oh yeah what again and don't offer much in the way off support. In fact shewas going to try SW lastyear based on recipies I have given her shewent out bought bits and bobs to help her, told the daughter and grandson who live with her thatthey should leave this stuff alone as it was for her only. Next morning she got up to faind the duaghter had taken it to work for her packed lunch.......selfish or what.

Anywayas I say I have told her about here and I am sure she will find her way here if Harry lets her get on line;

Have a good week one and all

Val

Hi all. I am new to SW, but I am doing the plan online through their 'bodyoptimise' link. Its really useful since I'm outside the UK for a short while. Is anyone else using this tool?

Only been a member for 2 weeks and have lost 5lbs which is fab for me! I was disappointed that 'bodyoptimise' does not have a forum to keep me in touch with other SWers, but I found you lot here which is great! :)
