Tomatoes are fine in moderation. Just ignore the fact that they're a fruit.

Well green peppers and cucumbers are fruits too when it comes right down to it. It's not whether it's a fruit or not - it's the Glycemic Index. See explanation in FAQ.

Tomatoes are now unlimited in quantity in all Phases (see the revised food list post). They have a GI of 23, which is just over the 20 cut-off for all the free vegetables and other non-fat, low fat foods. Tomatoes are the one thing that got me through Phase I! Just make sure when buying tomato sauce/paste/etc, there's no added sugar.

I'd kill for a big, healthy tomato plant right now. Loaded with ripe, juicy tomatoes. I pull them off the plant and eat them right in the garden in the summer. They're like apples.
