Maria: Slavika is right. Maui is one place to see. Well worth the dollars is you can afford it. BTW I talked to DH about your trip. He says Im off my rocker and says the car is the way to go. Very easy to sell at the end. And the price of gas and all else would be better than a motor home. He did say you could probably lease a motorhome at a lot less $$ Than trying to rent. But thaught the car will still be a better way to go for the time you are spending here.
Slavika: Glad you are having a super time! Trudy is right. Maui is way better than Honolulu. But Honolulu does have alot to offer to. Just to tourisy for me :) It is a very pretty Island. Dont think I told you, but my grandparents had a church there. It was so weird when we were going down the road and this church appeared. I knew it was that church. Made hubby go back. It was thier church. So spooky to recogize it from pictures.
Karen: We still have new people joining to. I totally agree with you are working for WW. You need to find the time to get out when you need to. Im not ready yet either as I love helping people when I can.
But there are some awful things to.
Yesterday, and please dont take me wrong. Im willing to help people in Will chairs and I still did. But this women came in and smelled soooooooooooooooo bad. I Weighed her in, but Im telling you I couldnt get out of the room fast enough. I know I had this look on my face as the next person came in and said Are you ok? I said lets go to another room :) I had such a headache. It was Horrible.
Night Night!

Lily that type of thing has happened on more than one occasion to me and my staff. We even had a guy come in that was so dirty and smelly and talked very vulgar and he was kind of threatening in a way. Scary :yikes: We even had the police on speed dial. We were ever so glad when he quit coming. But that kind of thing happens when you deal with the public :?:
Sorry it had to happen to you :(
Slavika and Trudy so glad your having a good time. Will you be spending any more time together?
We have had to file an insurance claim over all the damage that was done with the frozen and broken water pipes. I will be letting DH handle the insurance adjuster when he comes. Lucky me i get to gone for the next 3 days. :s: I will be working ;)

Hi everyone:
Karen: Why is it that a man always wants to deal with another man. It is so insulting, and they alwyas try to get away with something with a woman. It is like a woman taking the car to the garage for something.
We even had something like this with our board meetings. I had been making some suggestions about insurance, and check signing. And I was balked at every turn. Then they asked a new resident to become an advisor, and when the questions were posed to him and he said by all means these things should be done. So they were done. I just have to tell me 'That's Life!!!'
Slavika and Trudy: glad to hear you are having such a good time. And February is nearly over. When do you get back to the winter weather?
Maria: I think Lily's DH suggestion about leasing might be a smart one to look into. Glad you had a nice weekend with old friends.
We are expecting our Norwegian family, to come for a visit on Friday. Don't know just how long they will stay. She was an exchange student with my daughter and lived with us for year. We have kept in touch all these years, and visited when we could. It will be good to see the.
See you. Ann

G'day all,
Lily and Karen once upon a time grotty sort of people didn't bother me too much but now  :fr:  , I cannot stand it. I don't think there is any excuse for being smelly or just a plain 'grot'!
Lucky that fellow decided not to come back for many more meetings!
Ann I am with you it is one of my pet hates and I certainly will not shy away from those sort of men. Any bad service or stuff that has to be returned my dh leaves that to me, I am very persistant and will not give up  :dizzy: . We sort of work it together, I am the big b---h and then dh 'smooths' it over, it seems they give in because they feel sorry for dh being married to such a woman :D :D when he comes across as such a nice, caring man!
My laptop has been playing up and I rang Fujitsu (I have a Fitjitsu Lifebook) to see where in Adelaide I could take it. After waiting in the phone queue and listening umpteenth times how important my call was etc. I finally got onto a human who then informed me I had to ring the technical number   , I really went off my head and told him all I wanted to know where in Adelaide I could take it, he finally gave me the address of a place, I then asked for the phone number but he couldn't give me that. Ten more minutes of getting very angry and telling them I will never buy anything Fujitsu again, I got the phone number. I then rang the number to see when it was convenient for me to bring in my laptop, I was told I had to ring Fujitsu to get a reference number before they could look at it!@#$%*#@
They then agreed I could bring it in.
I just do not understand why it so difficult to get an answer to a reasonable request. But what really makes my blood boil that if I DO rant and rave for 30 minutes or so, I do finally get the answer I want. It should not be necessary.
I will now get off my soapbox!! but before I do....I wonder how long before management of all these companies recognise that people will not be repeat buyers of their product with the after sales service supplied.
My new eating plan is coming along very nicely, I feel really well.
I was looking through my ancient WW booklets and it is so similar to what I am doing.
Haircut tomorrow and off to the podiatrist on Thursday.
Cheers

Maria you certainly shouldn't have to rant and rave to get service. Don't understand why they couldn't tell you what you wanted to know the first time. I hate waiting while they are telling me my call is important-if it's important then have enough reps there to answer it when it rings. Customer service is lacking in this day and age of technology. It's so frustrating.
Slavika good to hear from you in aloha land. Take a walk on the beach for me.
Lily that had to be interesting to see the church. Sort of choked when I read about the smelly person. I have encountered a few people like that. You would think someone they are close to would tell them to take a shower and help out by washing their clothes. No excuse for it.
Ann enjoy catching up with your company.
Going to help out in my sons old grade school cafeteria today and tomorrow. They are short on mothers coming in and helping. Haven't been there in a long, long time. My friend works there and asked if I could help out occasionally. They do have a wonderful salad bar. Tonight we are going to my niece's and celebrating Fat Tuesday with homemade ravioli. Can't wait for that. Yesterday I met 2 old high school friends for lunch. Almost didn't make it. I stopped for gas and when I got back in my car it wouldn't start. Good thing the Toyota place I have service it is right down the street. They came right away and fiddled with it and then I took it for a new battery cable. Works great now.

Hi all
Ugh, Lily, phew!!! :headache: So hard to be amiable to people like that. :censored:
Maria, I think the whole service industry is going to pot! :halfempty: Why, why, why? You'd think the "higher ups" would want their service impeccable. That's what keeps people coming back - the same is true for restaurants, etc. BTW, glad your food program is working out for you. Are you doing WW?
Karen, I missed the part about your pipes bursting. :stars: Ick! I bet Florida is looking better and better. When you move, will you continue to work for WW?
Hawaii is so beautiful. Sounds like Slavika and Trudy have had a great time. :cheer:
Glenda, how's that BP? Are you following a particular diet? WW?
Peggy, I think you asked me if I worked full-time. No, just part-time, but not far from home. I bus it. The knitting is going okay - my sister found a few "errors" here and there. :rollpin: But isn't that how we learn. I recently bought fabric for a new quilt: Martha Washington Star. I'm anxious to get going on that.
Ann, is the family coming from Norway? :chin: Minnesota is a big Scandinavian state. There are lots of connotations in our vernacular that imitate their language. Uff Da is one of them.
Tonight DH, DS & I are going to a local restaurant to celebrate Shrove Tuesday. :cbg: I will try to be prudent and choose healthily. I know they have a good walleye fillet.
See ya later. :encore:

Karen: That does sound spooky :( Hope you get some money from the damage on the water pipes.
Maria: I dont understand either whay you cant get an answer when you call. We use alot of Fuji at work and I have the same problem trying to send in a card for a repair Grrrrrr. Glad you new eating plan is working well for you. Have you lost more?
Peggy: Yum homemade Ravoli. Sounds wonderful! Have fun working in the cafeteria! Did your Nephews school win with the voting? And how did it go?
Marnie: what is Shrove Tuesday? Never heard of it. Must be like Peggys Fat Tuesday? Im confused :)
For those that do curves. How exactly is it? Looks like my gym put in something like it over the weekend. How many sets to you do on each machine? Thinking of giving it a try at the gym. Was awful busy this morning tho.

Shrove Tuesday, the eve of Lent — also known as Mardi Gras (literally "fat Tuesday" in French), Carnival (from the Latin for "farewell to the flesh"), and Fasnacht (the Germanic "night of the fast") — is celebrated across the world with riotous merrymaking and feasting.
While Brazilians samba in the streets of Rio, and New Orleans throws its most famous party of the year, the English celebrate with Pancake Tuesday. It may seem an unlikely last indulgence, but pancakes use up rich ingredients like butter and eggs from the larder before the pious Lenten fast. Families gather for sweet and savory pancake suppers, and housewives still compete in the peculiar tradition of donning their aprons and racing each other holding pancake-filled skillets. Strict rules require that each contestant successfully toss and flip her pancakes into the air at least three times before crossing the finish line.

G'day all,
A magnificent day here today. :flow2:
Peggy glad you got your car started again. I am not fussed what sort of car I drive as long as it GOES when I want it to :D :D
Marnie Yes service is certainly 'dead' everywhere in the world
My 'new' eating plan is really very similar to WW, I am basically eating much more protein and I am trying to eliminate all the 'bad' or 'white' carbs out of my diet.
I did post the website where I got my information and the eating plans, you may have missed it so here it is.......
It is called the 'Total Well Being Diet' and since following it very strictly, I do feel extremely well. Maybe because I have cut out the bad carbs, I don't seem to have that compelling urge that I MUST have a biscuit and cannot let go of that thought unti I do
I feel very positive that I will succeed this time.
You described 'Shrove Tuesday' very well. It brings back many childhood memories of Shrove Tuesday when we always had pancakes 'as many as you can eat' :) but then the big test of Lent!
Amazing only 40 days to Easter.

I surely got fat last night for Fat Tuesday. My niece had the homemade ravioli-even made the pasta. Then she made cannoli and tiramisu. I didn't miss eating anything and didn't want her to have leftover cannoli. Today it's back to plan.
Lily my nephew's school did win and he told me one of their players was featured as player of the week. Thanks to everyone who helped vote. Try the curves routine. It wears you out.
Got to get ready for another cafeteria day. This is wearing me out. Yesterday they had their choice of a complete turkey dinner, or chicken nuggets or the salad bar with ravioli and chili. The salad bar is better than most restaurants and a lot of kids get it. Even had blueberries on it.

Hi everybody,
We arrived home yesterday in the afternoon, safe and sound, but very tired. It is such a long plane ride from here. I have never experienced jet lag before. We loved Maui and liked Oahu. The week we spent to Slavika and her DH were so much fun. On Oahu we stayed in Waikiki. We went on so many bus tours as there is so much to see there. We went to The Polynesian Cultural Center, Pearl Harbor Tour, Circle Island Tour (it took around the island), Whale Watching, and to a Luau on a private beach. The weather was beautiful, in the 80's every day.
Our DD and  picked us up at the airport, it was so good to see them again. Today it is +1C (is that 32F?) anyway, the snow is melting and it should be getting warmer now.
I usually avoid the sun, but it was impossible there so I got quite a tan. I really look strange today in jeans and a sweater... I don't look right, I should have on a T-shirt and shorts.
I am going to go back and read what you all have been up to.
It's nice to be home... bye

Welcome back Trudy. Sounds like you had a great time.
Lily: At Curves you work yourself up with reps. You work on each machine about 30sec. then to a step /aerobic routine and on to the next machine. When I first started I could do about 6 reps on each machine, but now I have built up to close to 15. It all depends on the machine, too. The full workout takes 30 minutes and then there are stretches to finish up with. I really like it and it gets me to exercise, even on a day like today which is cool and very rainy.
Maria: I am with you on the problem with service. When i was having the problem with the computer, I went to online service and after we have finished the messaging, I asked the tech where in this world was she sending me advice. And the reply was India. And after 3 tries my problem still wasn't fixed.Had to go back to our service tech once again, even tho' they has ssent me in the other direction. GRRR!!!
Marnie: I know there are many Norwegians and Swedes in Minnesota. This family is Norwegian, and they have little love for the Swedes. Don't know just when they will get here, as Papa flies as Captain for SAS Airlines, so they fly standby, and that means whatever Airline they can make connections. So we just wait until they arrive.
Peggy: YOur meal sounds wonderful. Especially the tiramisu.
Karen: I haven't had much chance to look for stuff for you but will do it as soon as things calm down.
Hi everyone. Hope to get back tomorrow, but we are going to an AARP 55 Alive driving class. Two mornings. But when completed we get a certificate that will give us a discount on our Auto insurance premiums. It never hurts to review the laws and get some reminders about safe driving.

Trudy: Welcome Back! Sounds like you had a great time on Oahu. We didnt get the chance to see Pearl Harbor. :( we were only there for 2 days and one day was spent with DH's Sister as she lives on the Island. The other day was Diamond Head. So didnt have alot of time to see what you did.
Ann: Thanks for the info. Will try it. Looks like fun. If I can ever get to the machines tho. Seems to be a big hit at the gym.
Marnie: I want to see the Passion. Sure is alot of hype about it. So wont be going until it slows down a bit. Im sure its crowded.
Oh I forgot. "Bat Bird" is appartenly living in this space that is in the roof. It doesnt go any where. Its just a small space that is between the roof and the overhang. We usually get pigeons up there all the time. The other night I was outside and I heard this sound like a Hawk. Looked up and sure enough it fly right above me and into that space. And sure enough it is diffenetly a Hawk. :)

Hi Everyone:
Marnie: The AARP driving class is really very good. It is for anyone over 50 yrs. It is basically a review of good driving habits, and the cost is $10.00 per person. It is an 8hr. course, we are going two mornings. One of the things it points up is how we physically change as we get older, and how it can effect our driving. If you are interested, check with your state AARP office on line, and they can put you in touch with where you could find a class. it is really worth the time, and you do get the insurance discount, too.
Lily: We got our tickets for the Passion for tomorrow p.m. and I'm looking forward to seeing it and making up my own mind, instead of depending on the hype. Our church bought a bloc of 90 tickets, but we couldn't go with the group. But actually, I prefer just the two of us going. How interesting that your 'batbird ' is a hawk. Can you tell what kind? There are so many different ones.
tomorrow is our closing class and we get a certificate to present to our insurance company. Have a great tomorrow. I have to spend some time getting spruced up for company, and with the classes, my time is getting short. Ann

G'day all,
Ann that sounds excellent, I am sure EVERYONE could benefit from a bit of refresher course as far as our driving goes.
Interesting what you said about the Norwegians and Swedes, I wonder what attracted them to go to Minnesota.......
Marnie my sister went to see 'The Passion of Christ', she thought it was very graphic and was unable to watch many scenes, she liked the fact they used the original language, it somehow made it seem even more real. All in all, not a film you particularly 'enjoy', but one well worth seeing. She said because of our very strict religious upbringing, she knew the story inside out and after each scene anticipated the next one. Of course what we were told was a very sanitised version of what happened.
I probably won't go and see it in the theatre but will watch it on DVD at home when it is released. Especially with such graphic detail, I would like to be able to walk away for a few minutes when I feel the need.
So Lily you did never find out what the 'batbird' was? Good to know that, whatever it is, cannot take over the space in your roof.
Trudy all unpacked and climatised again to the colder weather? Slavika must be due back in a week or so.
No big plans for the weekend, very happy to report I have lost another 1 1/2 lbs, 5 lbs in total now since I started my new eating regime.
Back wearing some pants that were just too snug for comfort ;)
I am also getting some new orthotics, I hope that means that I can walk for a bit longer than 15 minutes. I told the podiatrist my aim would be to comfortable walk 1 hour without coming home with bleeding blisters. :(
He seems confident that we can achieve that. It is 2 1/2 years since I had my feet operated on, my posture, the way I walk, everything has changed. Hopefully the new orthotics will help to correct some of those things.
In retrospect, I am happy to have had the neuromas removed but the fusing of the bone in my big toes does not seem to have been such a good idea :(
Have a great weekend all,
Cheers

Hi all: finished our driving class today. it was well worth while.
We went to see the Passion this afternoon, and I find it is a very powerful film. I think that even as graphic as it was, the flashbacks and other scenes with Mary broke it up so it wasn't as overwhelming. It certainly does point out the inhumanity of mankind, and the crowd/mob mentality. there were some very poignant scenes with Mary and Jesus. Being in Aramic and Latin (for the Romans) plus the wonderful scenery(very authentic) made it very realistic.
I get a daily online copy of Christianity today, and there have been some wonderful articles in it about the film and it's production. Today's article was very interesting
and related that some rather miraculous happenings have taken place on the set, and afterwards. And many of the cast and crew have developed a greater faith, as a result of it. So to my way of thinking, that tells a lot about the film.
Tomorrow our company comes and i do have a lot to do to get ready. And I have no idea just when they will arrive. have a great weekend. Ann

Hi All,
Welcome back Trudy to reality. Sounds like you had a wonderful time and did lots of things. Someday I hope to get there.
Maria congrats on the weight loss. I think I am finding what you lose. I am tired of playing around and thinking one bit of this and that won't hurt. Cause it does!
Lily so now you know for sure that it is a hawk. That is very iteresting. Curious how he found his way to your roof. Think he is raising a family in there?
Ann didn't know that AARP had driving classes. I might have to check that out-it sure couldn't hurt. Want to see the Passion but am going to wait a little till the crowds thin out.
Wonder what happened to Geri after she popped in here not too long ago.
We cleaned out the garage this morning. That was exciting as it gets around here. It is very springlike today and I should be out cleaning up some of the leaves in the back yard. Things are popping up. Oldest son is taking us to dinner somewhere. Haven't decided where. I would like to get the grill out and have the first grilled burgers.
Have a great leap year day,

G'day all,
Beautiful autumn day here today! First day of autumn for us. I love autumn and spring, beautiful days and cool nights :)
Marnie there was an article in our papers that the worlds largest quilt convention is held in Houston Texas at the moment. It must be incredible, the article says that the convention takes up the size of 11 football fields  and more than 55 000 people visit every day.
No doubt you have heard of it. I saw a quilting exhibition in Sydney last year which was just spectacular but was nowhere near as big as this one.
So many talented people.
Peggy if the loss of my weight is going over your way, don't bother to send it back :D I am doing nicely without it. I know the game well, 'this little bit will be allright' etc. etc., I am determined to now STOP playing that game.
Ann I hope your visitors have arrived by now. A hundred years ago ;) :dizzy: when I was a flight attendant (air hostess we were called in those days) I also made a few trips 'subject to load'. It may well be frustrating for you but boy it is nerve wrecking for the person travelling!!
A few times I made it back to Australia by the skin of my teeth, having to start work again the very day arrived back :(
See ya tomorrow........

Maria: Congrats on the Loss! Thats super. This new way of eating sounds like it working very well for you :)
Peggy: I dont know if it has a family. I know the pigeons do when they make a home up there. Im not gonna get that close to look tho :) Dont know what happen to Geri. :(
Well Sat was my last day working. Yeah!!!!!!!! I am going to go to meetings out there for a While. The leader started a "Boot Camp" Thing. He gives you a piece of paper each week with a list of things you need to do each week. If you pass you get to go to the Next level. Its kind of fun so Im gonna stick it out. Trudy Welcome home. Sounds as though you had a wonderful time. But it is always good to get home to your stuff. Right? Will Slavika be home soon?
Ann we talked to Pat at your park to day and she is sending us some information. We also called on another one today . Around the same area I think. We are looking to buy in the area so I hope we will get to have a face to face meeting later this year. :high: On one hand I am looking forward to moving and then on the other I'm a little ambivalent about the whole deal.. :?: When we came home the other day My son and his wife and kids were in our drive way scraping ice away for us. I got a little teary eyed when thinking I won't be seeing that any more. Then I thought of all times I get to drive up and see the little Gr.children out playing. Have to move on Karen is what I keep telling myself. I know I'll be fine I just need to get my head on straight. :spin: I know this move is for the best. We do need more room with SIL being with us. We each need our space so to speak and I don't want to spend another winter in Minnesota. This has been the one that broke the camels back!
I'm gearing up for another busy week. I remember now why I gave up my meetings on Wednesdays :stress: . 2 more weeks after this one and I'll be back to my regular 2 days a week.
Marnie how are you doing ?

G'day all,
We had a small farewell dinner for our d-i-l who is leaving on a tour of South Africa and England with the Australian Netball team.
Her mother brought desert which was just heavenly. Lots of fresh berries with a little strawberry liqueur and she made a sauce of melted white chocolate and cream :cloud9: , I am not that much of a chocolate freak so I chose to have the berries with some lowfat vanilla yoghurt. It was very yummy.:)
Lily I am not a fan of any sort of 'bootcamp' method for anything however I know that it can be successful. It will be interesting to hear how everyone copes with it at your meetings.
KAren change is always difficult and I can imagine that you will be wondering at times if you are doing the right thing.
Your winters sound so bad to me and Florida seems a much better option. I miss my daughter in Melbourne but communications are such that I speak to her everyday on the phone and we often make the 8 hour journey to Melbourne.
It certainly is not like the 'old' days :D

We did see the Passion and it is a wonderful film. It is graphic, but I think there was a areal reason for it. And in its entirety it all makes perfect sense. I would highly recommend it to anyone. It makes you think a lot.
Our Norwegian family got here tonight. And very tired. They left Norway later than they thought, so it made them late all the way around. I'll probably get a chance to check in now and again. We don't plan to go to the attractions with them. We get too tired, and we have been there done that.
They went to be early since when they got here it would be something like 2:00a.m. in Norwegian time. Hope we can all keep on the mostly straight and narrow. Ann

Ann: I put it on my Netflicks account to get it when it comes out on tape, I do want to see it.
Maria: That dessert sounds heavenly. I love berries with some Ice cream.
Karen: Week 1 of boot camp was you had to eat 3 fresh fruits, Drink your amout of water 3 times. Exercise 3 times. Stick to your Target points 3 times.
Week two is the same except you need to do each 6 times during the week. Plus we have to write out a goal we want to acheive and then list the ways we will accomplish it. (Recognize a tool here? :) ) Dont pass one week you cant go to the next until you do. We have to turn it in to the leader to get to the next week.
Most people who stuck to it last week lost 1-3 #
Its a 6 week thing. Was fun listening to the people last week and how they did.

Lily "Boot Camp" sounds as if it is a good thing. Weight loss is a game the way I see it and we have to do any thing to keep it fresh and fun! I love the idea of the "Storyboard" . Your leader is a smart man. How many meeting does he do a week?? (just being nosey)
I haven't seen The Passion movie yet was waiting to see what people thought. I have heard the violence was bad and am not sure I could set through it. But The way Ann talks I guess I really should go see it. SIL and my Mother both want to see it. So at least I will have them to talk to on the ride home. DH said he would like to see it also.
Ann glad your company finally got there. Jet lag from over seas is awful. One time when I was still traveling with the kids. We were in route for 27 hours. Needless to to say it was a good thing I was picked up by my Mom and Dad because when I went to sleep that night I slept almost a day and a half. Mom and Dad took care of the kids who were fresh a daisies the next morning! Didn't even wake up to eat. Now you know that wouldn't happen today. I rearly miss a meal.

Is it unusual to have a bloke do the meetings? I have never heard of male leaders here, sounds a bit different and sounds like he has some fresh ideas as well.
Ann glad your visitors have finally arrived, hope you will enjoy their stay.
Karen that was along time in the air, where were you coming from? Air travel is certainly a lot quicker now but Australia still remains a long way from everywhere :dizzy: :( .
Still working on getting my webpage updated, it seems to take forever because I am interupted all the time or just not discplined enough to just 'get on with it'!!
Cheers
Maria

My brain is not working this morning. :dizzy: Been trying to figure out how to start a new thread since this one is on page 2. I had to log in again-what's up with that? It used to be so easy - oh well I will leave that to Maria.
Ann did you say you park is Fruitland Park? I think that is where my friend winters. You might know her if you are both in the same place.
Lily I like the idea of your boot camp. Sounds like a good leader. At first I thought boot camp?-sounds strict and hard but after you said what it is I like it. Going to try it on my own. Might help with the water-when it is cold I don't drink as much.
Been cleaning out some stuff for the church rummage sale that is coming up. I have lots of clutter in the craft area and clothes that haven't been work in a while. They are going out. Just found out last night that I have to hand letter the letter W on my friends dd wedding programs. Hope I get them soon since the wedding is the 20th.

Hi All
What have I been doing? Not sure!
On Saturday, DH & I went to see "Passion." As a Catholic/Christian I recommend it. I will never look at Holy Week the same! I would suggest NOT reading any commentaries before going. I think that influences your own viewing.
The snow is melting. I'm getting itchy to do a little gardening. I know the ground is too hard and it's just wishful thinking. In our grocery store there are little pots of daffodils and crocuses and the are so pretty.
I'd do a new thread, but need a lesson!
Lily & Karen, boot camp sounds "fun." I'm finally reading Dr. Phil's book - cover to cover. So far I'm learning alot about my own "emotional" eating. I think that's my downfall thus far.
Maria, I did check out the "Well-being Diet." Are you still following that one?
Hope you're all having great days. :bubbles:
I'll check back.
Marnie
