Good Morning Everyone :D

Hiya Catbird, Nooooo anyone can start up the daily thread, there's no rules :D
WOW Congrats on the weight loss, thats teriffic BRAVO!!!

My boss is here today

We're almost there FRIDAY!!! Any exciting plans for the weekend ? Its supposed to be 45 degrees today (YEAH!) so at lunch I'm going to go clean my car out, its horrible. Then this weekend I'm going to put up my Easter decorations outside, I love Easter, its my Favorite time of the year. Yeah I know we still have some snow on the ground but I can't stand it anymore LOL... hurry spring, ohhh hurry.

02-19-2004, 09:31 AM
Catbird--it basically is whoever is "up" first and feels like starting it. Congrats on the weight loss! Bet that's a boost huh?

Leenie-- Sorry to hear about the boss being there. I love it when the wicked witch boss is gone. lol I don't decorate for anything but Christmas. And even that is sparse. I don't put anything outside because chances are some numnuts would steal it.

Yay!! It's almost Friday. My rings should be back tomorrow AND our Federal taxes should be in the bank tomorrow. Then I can go and look for a new mattress & box spring!! (Amongs other things). WOOHOO!!! I'm slowly managing to get back OP. I'm hoping this time to stay that way. I've discovered I never ate this tin of chocolate. But ya know what?? I've told myself "it probably isn't good anymore, but it'll look good for decoration"...and then I told myself "well, maybe later"...and by the time "later" arrived it was time for bed. lol. Whatever works right? I've got a GS meeting tonight. I'm hoping it's done before the freezing rain hits. Why can't we just skip this and go to Spring already?? It was so nice having the sun out, and be able to walk outside w/out worrying about frostbite. The gutters aren't even thawed out yet but they were getting there. Now Mother Nature wants to throw more on it. UGH!!! Ok...Going to think back to how nice it'll be if it was FRIDAY already!! lol

Have a great day!!

Good morning all!
My test last night in class went really well. I blanked on a couple of things but I'm feeling rather confident. I didn't even bring my book bag into work this morning. I'm taking a day off.... I still have to go to class tonight but I'm not even going to stress over it during the day today.
I'm taking a blood test on Monday. My gyno thinks I may have PCOS and one of the things it causes is insulin resistence..... so I've got to go in for a blood test in the morning. However, I was reading up on it yesterday and somewhere I saw that, if you are on a low-carb diet, it messes with the results. So I called yesterday and ended up talking to someone in the lab and they said it shouldn't interfere with the test results. I'm thinking about calling back and asking my doctor..... I'm not so sure the lab technician knew exactly what they were talking about. Does anyone else know anything about this? YOu're all smart women.....
I stepped outside this morning and I could smell that spring was coming (I swear, it happens every year)... there's just a different feeling to the air. So Brenda, hang in there... . it's coming!!!!!

02-19-2004, 10:23 AM
Good Morning!!

This is just a quick drive by, I have to get in the shower & out the door. I am going SHOPPING today :) I got on the scale to see a 1.5 pound loss from yesterday, so now I have lost 29 pounds, WOO-HOO! Just 4.5 pounds, and I will be on Onederland :)

Have a great day ladies, I will check in later. Wish me luck on finding some cool outfits that look good!!

WTG Hillary!!!! That must feel GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD.

:bravo: :cb: :cb: :cb: :cb: :cb: :cb: :cb: :bravo:

Good morning.

Two completely OP days for me and when I hopped, well not hopped...kind of gingerly stepping, on the scale this morning it showed I was down 2 of the 4 I had put on. I don't have a digital so it is guess work for me....depending on how the eyes are in the morning  BUT IT IS GOING DOWN AGAIN. See.....follow the plan and it works. Simple as that.

I know it is early for StarPrincess..... but what you said about taking control of my body and not the other way around really has hit home. It's time I took it back. I'm not saying I will be good as gold every single day of my life but as long as I know that I am in control then it should be easier.

So on to work today. My numbers have been good lately so I hope I am out from under the radar screen :p The internet meeting that was scheduled yesterday was cancelled because of an emergency in the Tampa office. Unfortunately they rescheduled it for today  Oh well, such is life.

I took one of my husbands "senior" vitamins this morning because like we were talking about yesterday it doesn't have any iron. I want to see in Fitday how my numbers come out today. I am also going to take my calcium at night and see if I can kick this hearburn, plus I am only taking one now instead of two. I have been eating the Dannon low carb yogurt so that is helping my totals.

Shimma: I was told that PCOS usually only appears in people that have extreme weight....your numbers aren't that high. The doctor that told me that may have been incorrect.....hope your tests come back ok.

lady_adnerb: Rings, what rings? New rings? Tell, tell.......oh I love jewelry.

Leenie: I'm so lucky my boss works in another state :smug:

Catbird: WHAT'S WITH THE CAPS    Congrats on the loss, that is awsome! :cp: :cp:

I will check on you all later.

02-19-2004, 10:41 AM
Jane, PCOS only showing up in people that are extremely overweight is a common misconception. It does occur in other people as well. Somewhere I read a letter from some pist off woman who was skinny and had it and was misdiagnosed for years. (All I know is what I read) As far as symptoms, I have most of them.... enough to make my doc (whom I trust completely) think it's enough to have me take the test. I know something isn't right with my body..... but I'm not sure what. He's running 2 other tests as well. I went ahead and called the doctor's office and asked to speak with his nurse..... she'll ask him the question and then call me back. I hate demanding a doctor's time because I know they're busy but I feel it's a very important question, ya know?
the only thing I'm dreading is him telling me that "yes, you will have to eat regular carb meals for 3-4 days beforehand".... I don't wanna!!!!! It will definitely be another month before I go on the pill if that is the case. I have about 5 more lbs I want to lose before I'd be ok with having a stall.... if only I could actually PLAN when I stall like that. hehehe

02-19-2004, 10:54 AM
Shimma: That is very interesting......I wouldn't worry about your demanding a doctors time. I managed a doctors office for 12 years and if they don't want to talk to you then you don't want to go to them. My old boss was adament about getting back to everyone that called on that day. Used to drive me crazy but now that I can't get anyone to EVER call me back I totally appreciate it.
If you have to do the carbs then just do it is only for a few days. You want the test to be accurate. That is more important than "maybe" a few pounds.

02-19-2004, 11:13 AM
Hey all!

Catbird - WTG on the weight loss!

Leenie - ugh! I forgot about Easter! I used to have a serious addiction to those cadbury creme eggs and the cadbury mini eggs. St. Paddy's is my new favorite holiday because it's the only major one I know of that doesn't revolve around candy and bad food. It just revolves around beer :D

Brenda - good job avoiding the tin o' evil! Procrastination works well for me, too!

Shimma - glad the test went well. I have one tonight so I'm hoping your luck rubs off on me. There is a PCOS thread on the forum. I think it's near the top in the general section. They may be able to give you some info, too. And if doc says you have to eat carbs, then have doc define how much. It's not like you need to start eating pasta for 3 days or anything, I'm sure ;)

Hillary - wow! You're doing great! You must be one of those people who aren't metabolically resistant!

Jane - you have no idea how relieved I am that you said that. I was worried that I'd offend you when I gave the mini lecture on taking control. It really is the one thing that's made the biggest difference to me. And not just with food. ;)

My day started out great even though it started out way too early (5:30, ugh!). DH left an envelope in my car that had written on the front "Brandi, I promised!" I'm thinking to myself, WTF? So I open it up and inside are several partially popped popcorn kernals. The partially popped ones are my favorites and the last time I had popcorn, he ate them all! I guess he had popcorn last night after I went to bed. I'm still laughing. What a funny, sweet guy!

TG - I love 'America's Next Top Model'! I don't know why, but I'm as addicted to that as I am to 'American Idol'. I want to see Camille get booted off, too, but I'm still happy to see crybaby Katie go. As for the coffee thing. I wouldn't bother with starbucks. They're too expensive. How about 7-11? ;) Seriously, I get a half-caf french roast. No cream. 1 packet of splenda. It also depends on how caffeine affects you. A diet dr. pepper will do the same thing to me. Caffeine has always made me shakey and dizzy and it doesn't take much!

Jina - MMMMMMMMMMMM Subway wraps! The people here don't warn me about the veggies increasing my carb count. I just insist on having the whole thing cold (fills me up more for some reason) and when I ask for the lettuce, onions, cucumbers, and olives, I ask them to put on as much as possible while still being able to close the wrap. And don't cut it! They're good about it. I think they're used to me :s:

02-19-2004, 12:20 PM
Where is the PCOS thread? I would like to take a look!

02-19-2004, 12:42 PM
StarPrincess: I must admit that at first I was like....."what the....." but then I realized that you were right and it was about time I stopped dancing around the issue. Sometimes we need someone who gets right to the point.
That is one of the reasons we come here, to get the advise and support we need. We may not always like the advise but as long as we are honest and caring with each other it is a great place to be.

02-19-2004, 12:57 PM
Jane - :D

Rebekahad - here's the link PCOS forum on 3FC (

02-19-2004, 01:07 PM
Well, the doc said my diet wouldn't affect my blood tests soooo.... yeah I get to stay on plan!!! (Must now kill any thought I had of candy bars) Actually, I'm very glad, I feel like I cheated myself out of a pound or two from being bad last weekend and I would very much like to get back on track.

Had a meeting after work yesterday over classes for next year.... Suddenly I have an entire NEW class I have to write curriculum for and find a book for. Ugh. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited..... I just wish they would have gotten their act together before now..... I know I know, that's too much to ask not to have it dropped on me at the last minute. The good news is that this is the last week of my class, after this week I just have clinicals.... Oh yeah, and the HUGE test next Tuesday... FUN!
Everyone seems to be in good spirits today and thanks for the advice and words of encouragement Jane and Star. I'm off to have my "treat".... a can of tangerine Diet Rite.... made with Splenda and no caffiene. YUM!

02-19-2004, 03:39 PM
Hey, ladies!

Catbird: Welcome!

Leenie: I absolutely love Easter, too. It's my favorite holiday. I can't wait to pull out all the decorations!

Brenda: Good job at avoiding the chocolate!

Shimma: I hope your tests go well (medical and school)! YUM! Tangerine Diet Rite??? I think I've got to find this stuff! I love orange-flavored soda!

Hillary: Congrats on the loss! Those pounds are flying off of you! :cb:

Jane: Congrats to you, too! Great job on the loss and staying OP! :cp:

Star: It sounds like you've got those Subway folks under control! I'm just so happy to have a decent option if I have to eat out. It's a lot better than eating a bunless burger. And, I feel so healthy eating a wrap filled with veggies.

I've been staying OP and feeling really good about this WOL again. I guess I just went through a little downer period. That's bound to happen every now and then, right? I've realized that Atkins has given me the most satisfaction and results of any attempt I've made to lose weight, so why stop such a good thing??? Not that I want to lose weight this slow, but DH pointed out that if I just lost 2 pounds per month, I'd be pretty darn close to my goal weight at the end of a year. Putting it that way, it sounds completely and totally doable. I think I have these visions of wearing a bikini on the beach ASAP, and that just isn't realistic. But, it's nice to know that I'll eventually get there with this WOL and exercising. It gives me hope!

OK. I have a question that I know you fabulous and brilliant ladies will have an answer to. Caffeine is suggested to be avoided because of the fact that it can trigger cravings, correct? It has some sort of effect on blood sugar, right? Is that the reason to avoid it? Is there any evidence that says it could stall weightloss? I didn't think so, but wasn't sure. (Sorry to pester you with a question, but I don't have my book handy.) That's just something I never gave up. I love Diet Pepsi and Diet Dr. Pepper, and the only time I get it is if I'm out to eat, so there usually isn't a caffeine-free version available. (I have to limit myself to just getting it when we go out to eat so I don't drink it nonstop. I love, love, love that stuff!)

I forget. Does anybody here go to Curves? I've always been really interested in it, I've just never joined. And, since we'll have some more money coming our way in the near future, I was thinking about joining. I just wanted to hear the reviews on it, if anybody's a member.

WOW! I just realized I'm being rather wordy today. This is a monster post. I'll stop now. Hope everyone has a great day!

Take care,

02-19-2004, 03:40 PM
Shimma: hope all your tests turn out well/good. And glad to hear you don't have to go off program to have them done. I've got diet rite here, plus diet mt dew (for the kick start on days I need caffeine). I think I've had 2 Diet Mt Dew's since I've started Atkins--and had to choke them down because they were WAYY to sweet. lol I was bouncing all over the place w/the caffeine from one can though! :dizzy:
As for my rings: My DH bougth me a new sapphire ring for V-Day. I had to get it sized bigger because I didn't have an open finger. lol. Well, I DO, but they're going to be taken by the other TWO rings that I'm having made smaller for my pinkies. Those are sapphires also. Then the only finger left is my index fingers and then the thumbs---free ones that is. lol

StarPrincess: I've been trying to figure out how to take my youngest DD to the movie w/out having popcorn. After all, what's a movie w/out popcorn right? That may have to be an OP couple hours.

jane8760: congrats on the weight loss. I don't hop on the scale either. But I also no longer feel like throwing the scale out the door. I bought a digital because I thought the "regular" one was broke. Sure had a wake-up call for me!

hillary29:Congrats on the weight loss. It must be great to lose weight so fast :) Good luck on finding a cool outfite--let us know!

Hmm...Spring?? Where? I can tell by the weather we're having right now. But that's all goingto change to sleet and heavy snow!!! :( Maybe that'll be the last of the crappy weather we get and then go into spring??? PLEASE??? lol. One more day and it's FRIDAY!!!!! WOOHOOO!!! I decided I'm going right after work to the jewelers and see if my rings are done. If not, it'll be ok. Cuz the Fed. taxes are supposed to be in our savings account. THAT will make up for it. lol

Are you all having a good day??

Tummy Girl
02-19-2004, 03:42 PM
Afternoon ladies,

Been a bit MIA, just another tonsil infection so been sleeping alot and yummy antiseptic mouthwash, happy day! But aside from the inability to exercise everything's dandy. And considering I get these things about 4 times a year I'm fairly used to all the ozzing and nastiness.

Catbird, welcome, and congrats on the weight already, look forward to watching and cheering on your progress.

Leenie, I have a potted tulip in my living room, wishful thinking maybe?

Brenda, so happy for you about your rings, it's always nice when they have to get adjusted, downwards of course. And yeha for you back on induction, I'm pulling for you over here and know you're going to do it!

Shimma, I hope the tests come back negative but if they don't at least you're already eating the way you need to, to keep the symptoms at bay, nice head start. My friend who started low carb recently has now lost 17lbs and her symptoms are already diminishing although she has much more to lose than yourself.

Hillary, YAY!! almost to ONEerland. Out of all the milestones so far, that one was by far the most emotional, I cried in the bathroom for god knows how long. I think it will end up being my second favourite of all time, next to my goal of course, there may be no consoling me for days after that one. Let us know the minute you hit it, we need to organize a parade :)

Jane, you got the power girl, WTG! :cp: Keep the streak alive, 2 days leads to 3, then 4 and OMG look at that hot momma!

Star, you have a fantastic guy there, that even made me laugh on the other side of the continent. I too totally forgot about the profile pictures, I couldn't stand looking at my avatar as a picture (still adjusting to the body ;) ) but the profile is a great idea and I don't have to look at it! I will get on that tout suite.

Had a bit of a fight with the scale this morning, it stopped at 169, then slid up to 170! Darn thing is toying with me again! It's very close though, I'm so used to stalling every 10lbs that I didn't even expect to be moving so quickly, maybe tomorrow, the next day or whenever but I'm coming for the 160's so they better watch out.

 to everyone who comes later.

02-19-2004, 03:44 PM
Jina--I love reading "monster posts" and happen to be a book writer when it comes to posting myself lately. lol. I'm not sure about the cravings that caffeine has on people, but didn't they say it "could" cause stalls? I don't have my book on me either otherwise I'd look it up. Hmm..I'm hoping to get into a bikini this summer  Of course, I wore one last year ;) but w/a HUGE tank top over the top. I couldn't find a suit I liked so I just grabbed a bikini and a tank top and away I went. Nobody could tell. THIS year I'm hoping to buy a 2 piece..but maybe the kind w/the shorts? Or skirts? I'm gonna try and talk hubby into getting me the pilates tapes. I have the order form in a book. lol

Tummy: Hi there!! Glad you're starting to feel better!!! I usually go every year with ear infections. Those things are a royal pain--no pun intended  Is there any way to prevent your throat infections?

(oops. there I went rambling again).

02-19-2004, 04:10 PM
Hi Everyone,
All this talk about iron in vitamins has made me curious. I now take Centrum and I noticed it contains 18mgs.. oye.. so I go to walgreens last night and I found ONE vitamin that doesnt contain iron, for women 50+. Yes it's so nice to live in a small town and get such a wide selection of items. So after I finish these up I suppose thats what I'll have to live with.

My entire body is just achin from my bout with Richard Simmons the day before last  If thats not an eye opener.. must get more exercise.

Today the sun is shining and it is just wonderful outside! Yup.. I SMELL SPRING!! (lets just hope that freezing rain or that 1 to 3 inches of snow misses us) I'm really anxious to get out the bike and start riding it to work. Every little bit helps right? ;)

Sorry I don't have time for individul greetings, I want to try to squeeze a quick workout in before the schoolbell rings.

You all have a fantastic day!

02-19-2004, 04:15 PM
jdoggmartin: I used to belong to Curves. I am going to be totally honest here and hope no one is bothered by my opinion.......
I liked it at first because I felt it was doable....really doable. You went in and did your exercise in only 30 minutes....what could be better than that. And you hardly broke a sweat. Then my joints started hurtin. If you haven't been there yet the key to the exercises is to do them as fast as you can for 30 seconds then move onto a jogging pad for 30 seconds then onto the next machine. It is so fast and jerky that I think my joints were paying the price. I also got bored just going around and around the room.
The woman that owned the one that I went to was nice enough but I don't think she knew a thing about the body. She just danced around the room keeping everyone motivated. Now I know that that can be good but I would have liked someone who understood muscles and the inpact the machines where having on my joints.
And I also didn't lose a single pound while I was going there.....I think 3 months and I was dieting at the same time. I didn't lose inches either! I know, muscle blah, blah, blah. But still

Ok, I suggest you take the 1 week free trial and see for yourself. You may love it.

This was just one girls opinion. :soap:

02-19-2004, 04:27 PM
Thanks for the well wishes everyone, the test is on Monday (another day off work) and then I have no idea when I'll get the results back.
Tummy, I'm glad you're feeling better!

I've been running around like mad all afternoon trying to get a bazillion things done... and I've decided I need a break. So, I'm just going to sit here and grade papers the rest of the day! I keep telling myself that tomorrow is FRIDAY, but I've been so busy today that I believe tomorrow is going to be more of the same. That's what I get for being gone a couple of days.

Star, what your DH did was adorable.... what a catch.
Brenda.... I swear it felt like spring this morning... cold... but I could FEEL it coming. Maybe it just hasn't made it to your neck of the woods just yet.

02-19-2004, 04:58 PM
Jina - I don't go to curves, but my mother does and she loves it. I'm not sure if she's lost pounds, but she has lost inches and she feels tons better. Taking Jane's experiences into account, maybe you should check out your local Curves before joining. Since it's a franchise, you'll want to make sure yours is better staffed than Jane's. The staff where my mother goes seem to be very knowledgable.

Tummy - you poor girl! I used to get tonsil infections all the time, too. It was bad enough that when my dr finally decided I could have them removed (I'd begged for years) the things were permanantly swollen to the size of golf balls. My 45 minute surgery lasted 2 1/2 hours because they'd been swollen for so long, they'd attached around the sides and back of my throat. Yuck! Have the damn things removed!

My DH is pretty adorable, isn't he? I'm planning a big huge surprise for his birthday. His mom lives in WY and he hasn't seen her since our wedding almost 3 years ago, so I'm conspiring to get him off work and fly us out there for the weekend of his birthday. The plan is for him to not know until the morning we leave when I wake him up and tell him to pack his bags. He won't know where we're going until we get to the airport. :s: His birthday isn't until July, so I think that's enough time to plan it! ;)

Star, how did you finally convince them to rip them out? My doctor just won't as I'm too old but for crying out loud this is ridiculous, everytime I go in he just says it will pass, he is an otherwise fantastic doctor and I would never go to anyone else, any hints? Profile pics all up and go to go now!

02-19-2004, 06:23 PM
Tummy - your current pic is FABULOUS!!! Wow - what pretty eyes! I finally gave up on my normal doc and went to a ear/nose/throat specialist because I was having problems breathing, talking, and swallowing. He said (this is an exact quote here) "those are the ugliest tonsils I've ever seen". I was in misery for about 2 weeks after the surgery because of the amount of cutting they had to do, but the bliss I've enjoyed ever since has been well worth it.

Maybe you should just demand it. Tell you doc that you're sick of the constant infections and you want the suckers GONE!!!

My dh had his tonsils and adenoids removed at age 24 and it was the best thing he ever more infections, no more snoring - it took about 1 week to heal.

Still here everyone and still reading your posts and still unable to keep up with everyone's news. I cannot wait for my 6 min ab machine to be delievered low hanging belly is just killing me lately. As I am losing weight it is dropping further down since there is no puffy fat to hold it up it slaps against me as I walk  I feel a little bad today because a woman at the bank yesterday asked me when I was due and I said "June 2002.....she's beautiful". My dd was with me and giggled - but the poor woman was mortified. I told her not to feel bad I am so used to it....but I guess I shouldn't have made her feel so uncomfortable - it's my own fault - not hers!!!!

Hope everyone continues to do well...I miss Fullfig and Supersized and Jamie and Angel Eyes and so many others....:(

02-19-2004, 08:09 PM
ROFL Kim that is soo funny!!! I was just laughing so hard, I kinda would've paid money to see that ladie's face just for a second! It is ok that I think is a perfectly normal reaction to the question. Maybe she will be a little more cautious next time before asking someone else.

Well ladies There are soooo many posts today I am just going to say a happy healthy HELLOO to everyone and I read all the posts. It is great to have som nay people on here now!!!

I had a great day at work today, am did alot of sales. Came home and it was nice and SUNNYY!!!!!! took oldest ds to the park and now back to clean up this house. 02-19-2004, 08:16 PM
Damn Star my DH is gonna hate your DH, first all he hears about is how he hasn't bought me a star yet like your DH and then now he hasn't given me any partially popped kernals!!!! What the heck!! How did you luck out!!

(hahahahahaha just kidding, he is a sweetie pie!) :)
