:sunny: Good Morning Ladies, :sunny:
I was overjoyed this morning when I stepped on the scale and I was down 3.5lbs. I'm starting to love my WI days, tho I'm sure that will change soon. Every week I sit in anticipation thinking that the great stall is going to hit but so far I've lucked out.
Well enough dancin' now, I best get ready for work before they send a squad out to get me  No more hooky for me.. shame on me.. but I enjoyed every minute of it!
You all have a fantastic day!

02-18-2004, 08:48 AM
Trazzie---congrats on the weight loss!!!

I stepped on the scale and it was down a pound. I'm hoping this time it stays off. Official weigh-in is on Saturday so I'm not sure why I always step on the scale every day. To keep my in touch w/it?? I managed to stay OP ALL day yesterday!!! WOOHOO for me. lol. I'm hoping that I can continue w/that! Time will tell. Nothing exciting happening for me today. I get to go to work and there's NOTHING for me to do. So I get to create work for myself just to look busy. That sucks! The time always goes by SOOO slow!! UGH.

You all have a great day

02-18-2004, 08:49 AM
Forgot to ask--

Theo'sGirl---did you ever eat your cheese? Wish my sweet tooth craving would change into that. Even though I think I've been eating WAYYY too much cheese lately. I'm slowly cutting down on that.

02-18-2004, 09:18 AM
Good Morning,

WOW Congratulations Trazzie and Brenda :balloons:

I'm all happy today, we were expecting a snow storm, YES another one, and it blew out to sea :cp:

Have a wonderful Wednesday Everyone - HUGS !!!

Good morning.

Well I braved the scale this morning also and stepped on....and just as I suspected it is up. BUT I DESERVE IT. I had way to much "fun" last week and I am in the middle of TOM so I am not worried. That is the one thing I love about this woe is that as long as I get back on the wagon it just comes off again. That is what makes me think I will be able to do this forever.
I am only up 4 but I was great yesterday and I anticipate another good day today. I was supposed to go out to dinner with some friends that I used to work with but we postponed it until next week. So that means a complete on plan day for me :D Not that I would have been bad at dinner but at home I feel like I have more control.

My dh grilled me some chicken tenders last night to bring for lunch this week. YUM those are so good with the hot sauce on them and some blue cheese dressing (only a little sauce :p )

We have an internet meeting today at noon  ....those things are so boring. This guy drones on and on and on........he reminds me of that teacher from Feris Bulers Day Off...."Buler, Buler....anyone?" You'd have to know the movie to get that one

Trazzie and Lady_Adnerb: :cp: :cp: Way to go!

Leenie:

Have a great day...I will check in later.

Hiya all!

Congrats on the weight loss Brenda and Trazzie!!!!

I've got a question for all you knowledgable people.... I've heard contrasting reports about the birth control pill and Atkins. I've heard it doesn't make a difference and I've heard it intereferes with your weight loss. My sister is about to go nuts because she started the pill about a week and a half to 2 weeks ago and hasn't lost any weight since..... which makes ME worry because I'm about to go on the pill. Does anyone know if it causes stalls or if it intereferes at all??? Thanks for the info!
I'm back at work today... it sucks.

02-18-2004, 09:34 AM
As far as I know the pill can cause you to gain weight no matter what eating plan you are on.

02-18-2004, 09:38 AM
Leenie--congrats on the snow missing you! I know I'd be excited about that one also!!!

Jane--your DH sounds like...a darling. lol. I can't imagine my hubby making me something to eat. Unless it was a salad. lol

Um. I must be weird because I LOST weight when I first started the pill. Of course, I was also MANY years younger than I am now. rofl

02-18-2004, 09:41 AM
I'm so spoiled....he cooks on the grill almost everynight. I cook the inside stuff he takes care of the beast!

We moved into our condo in the winter and when the movers were about to put the grill in the garage my husband and I both yelled "NO, put it on the deck" The movers looked at us like we had two heads.
The neighbors must think we are nuts. But we love the weber.

02-18-2004, 10:14 AM
Trazzie - You rock girl!! Awesome job! 3.5 pounds?? What I would give to have a loss like that, WOO-HOO!! :cp:

lady_adnerb - Congrats on that 1 pound loss, way to go!!! :cp:

Leenie - glad your snow storm went somewhere else.

Jane - sorry about the gain, just keep on track & those numbers will start going down soon

Shimma - The pill can make you gain weight, so I am sure that it has probrably stalled her. Thats why I have never been big on the BC pill while on diets

I am feeling MUCH better today! I am down 1/2 pound, and AF is officially GONE, thank goodness. I have been working out like crazy! I daydream all day long about the body I want, and that pushes me SO hard to get on that Elliptical, or to do the lunges, squats, crunches, whatever.

I had a very COOL moment yesterday. I called to make a tanning appointment, and then realized that my clothes were in the washing machine, and I had 1/2 hour to get dressed & be there. I could only find one pair of jeans & they were a size 18 low rise Levi's. I was able to button them up. They were a little snug in the butt, and in the thighs, but other than that, they worked just great. DID YOU HEAR ME?? SIZE 18'S!! Woo-Hoo!!!

No plans for today, its just a lazy day at home with no plans, and I am going to enjoy it. Have a great day ladies :)

02-18-2004, 11:51 AM
YIppeeeee Yipppeeeeeee!!!! I am down 2 pounds!!! I felt like my body was reconfiguring!!! :) I had to go to Goodwill and get some new pants!!

Brenda: yup I had my cheese and it stopped the sugar craving, I learned that from Star actually, if when you crave sugar stay away from the sugar completely (read labels because some things have little carbs but have sugar ie: Reddi whip) be sure everything you put in your mouth doesn't have sugar and then give your body something fatty and it will figure it out from there, it took awhile to train it but it works goos now, the only time I can't really get away with it is on TOM. CONGRATS ON YOUR LOSS BRENDA!!!!! :) :dancer:

Stay warm Leenie!!!

Jane uhmmmmmm chicken tenders!! I grill in the winter too!

Shimma I am not sure about the pill haven't taken it since I was 16! LOve your picture!!! It is nice to put a face with a name.

alright ladies this is a bad subject but I have a question......I know we talked about this before but I can't remember what was said. Do any of you use something to keep you regular?? I have not needed anything up to now, and I feel fine I just am only going #2 every 2-4 days but I want to be more regular than that for obvious reasons....I eat plenty of spinach, celery and lettuce, you think I would go all the TIME!! I also drink lotsa water. So any suggestions of carb friendly suppliments????

02-18-2004, 12:00 PM
I'm still NEW to this site, and decided to join in the daily chat! I think this site is great. I need some help and encouragement and I do believe this is the place to be!!!

After the EATING PASS I gave myself over the weekend, I think I'm back on target! I've gone for the last 2 days being strict and NO cheating! You can read what I ate on the Confession thread! :dizzy: LOL!!!!  Boy was I BAD! Today is my 3rd day of being back on the wagon - after the disasterous weekend!

Everyone seems to be doing so well!! I'm not weighing until the end of the week...I need to make sure I see some results or I'll be so bummmmmmmeeeed out.. ..but its my own fault. LOL

02-18-2004, 12:03 PM
Great to meet you Catbird!!!

02-18-2004, 12:06 PM
Good to meet you too Theo! WTG on the 2 pounds! I hope I'll be dancing at the end of the week!!!!!!! That sugar over the weekend just about did me in! LOL! I KNOW BETTER . . .but, afterall, it was VDay! LOL!!! You sound like you are doing great.

02-18-2004, 12:10 PM
morning everyone... bleh the scale said 170.5 this morning. Grrrr...massive amounts of macadamia nuts did it, I'll bet.

Shimma: I could write a book on my birth control pill side affects. After a while, I got to the point where it was no longer worth it to take it. I just use a condom instead. So here's what it did (or at least what I blame on it) 1) 3 week long periods, nutso PMS, crazy crazy food cravings and binges (i blame the weight gain on the extra estrogen causing CRAVINGS), did I mention out of control PMS for 3 weeks each month???!!!!

Anyway, your experience will probably be better, but if you have crazy PMS and cravings after 3 months like I did, I would toss the pack and never go back. I went on it 3 times (about 6-10 months each time) and it never got any better. Oh the one I used was orthotricycl-something, the popular one. Oh and how they tell you it clears up your skin? I had the WORST acne of my entire life while on it.

02-18-2004, 12:41 PM
Hey everyone!

Leenie - glad the storm missed you!

WTG Trazzie, Brenda and Cathy (who I recall posted about a loss somewhere!) Jane, Shimma, TG, and Hillary! Everyone's doing great!

Shimma - just being female makes it hard to lose weight because of our damn hormone fluctuations. I know that the pill can initially make it more difficult, but I don't think it's a long term thing. I switched from the pill to the patch a couple of years ago. That was 2 weeks of **** while my body adjusted! But I'm still on it and I've still been able to lose almost 60 pounds in a very reasonable amount of time. I don't think it's a big deal. Besides, the tiny bit of temporary weight gain from using birth control is nothing compared to the potential weight gain from not using birth control. :o

TG - I've mentioned my occasional use of cigarettes for such a problem, but I've found a more socially acceptable way. Coffee. I'm not accustomed to caffeine, so I'll occasionally have half-caf and that works wonders for me! Stimulants are called that for a reason. ;) If all else fails, I believe I saw an ad for Citrucel saying that it's 0 carbs.

I'm feeling much better today. Throat is almost back to normal and now I just have the sniffles. I can deal with that! Lots of work to get done. I'll post more later!

02-18-2004, 12:58 PM
TG: I never used to have a problem but since starting Calcium supplements I am experiencing "some" of that too. I tried to do Citrucel (my husband has diverticulosis and he takes it everyday)....but I didn't really like the "results"
I quit smoking over 5 years ago but have started "sneaking" some on an occasion......hhhmmmm Star I haven't noticed if that helps
I'd really rather be non-smoking than free moving :o so I don't want to keep that up.

02-18-2004, 03:08 PM
hillary--congrats on the new size pants!! Keep up the good work

Theo'sgirl--I can't help you on the #2 problem. Mine goes in streaks. One week I'll be non-regular. The next regular. Don't ask what's different about each week cuz I've no clue.

Catbird--Welcome and enjoy. I've learned a lot from this group. And they're ALWAYS supportive.

Khem--aren't there just days you'd love to take the scale and beat on it? lol

Star--glad you're feeling better! Did you ever figure out the carb count of a cough drop? What type did you use?

Well, I survived 4 hours of making myself look busy. Then I opened my mouth and the wicked witch gave me something to do. lol. She didn't like my suggestion of what I SHOULD be doing. Tomorrow and Friday I'm sure will be a repeat. I sure hope work picks up!!! So far I've managed to stay on program. So hopefully that keeps up :) The weather here is NICE!!! Sun is shining--but it's still a little windy and cool out. Not quite spring enough for me. Just hope the downspouts defrost where they're SUPPOSED to. lol. We don't need leaks in our house.

02-18-2004, 03:33 PM
 I just finished reading this week's Savage Love column and I'm still giggling.

Ahem, ok.

Jane - I've always been a nicotine wimp, so maybe that's why it works for me. Same with half-caf. I'm a wimp with the caffeine.

Brenda - I didn't figure out the carb count. I decided I didn't care. It made my throat feel better. I used Ricola Echinacea Green Tea Sugar Free Herb Throat Drops. Soothing on the throat and good herbs, too ;) I checked the ingredients and it's got aspartame primarily, maltitol a ways down the list, and sorbitol at the bottom of the list.

The board seems slow today. Where is everyone?

02-18-2004, 03:37 PM
I'm here, I've been posting all over the place, but not here. I've got nothing useful to say. I should be studying for a test but I' m feeling quite lazy at the moment and have decided that all the other tests have been so easy, this one probably will be easy as well. If not, she does drop our lowest score. I'm getting like a 98%, I can afford to relax, right? The only thing that is going to count is whether or not I get my certification and I can go as low as a 70% for that. Yeah, I'm going to stop talking myself out of studying now and get down to it!!!

02-18-2004, 04:03 PM
GGGrrrrrrrrr......I have just run some recipes that are supposed to be low carb through Master Cook and SURPRISE! They aren't very low carb.

Yesterday I found this web site for a new low carb magazine....I subscribed but after that I checked out some of the recipes that are going to be in the magazine and AGAIN.....NOT LOW CARB. I promptly cancelled my subscription. I never heard back from them and today the web site doesn't exist. HHHMMMMM

When I was looking for the web site today I found this other site that had some low carb recipes.....NOT

They are low to non low carbers but for me a casserole that is 9 grams is a little more than I want in one meal.

There......I'm done.

02-18-2004, 04:15 PM
I'm here. In and out of here anyway. Doing not much of anything. Hanging w/DH while he's still awake. Surprisingly he's still awake but should be sleeping. He's still on 3rd shift. Will be for at least another week after this. UGH!!!

02-18-2004, 04:17 PM
I'm running into that at the grocery store. Items marked "low-carb" that aren't low enough for me. It's still good to know about for maintenance! I'm looking forward to trying out the chive & 4 cheese stuffed ravioli that's only 16 grams for 1/2 the container! Not ok for right now, but in maintenance it will be. And it beats the heck out of the normal 38 grams for the same amount :D

02-18-2004, 04:19 PM
Good Afternoon!

I am starting to feel better. I caught that Darned bug that is going around. If I could just shake the cough I would be Thrilled!

Exercize has been non-existant for me. after that asthma attack at the gym, I got sick and I am still tight in my chest. I am hoping that by friday I can get back to it!

Now that my computer is working again, I have been working hot and heavy on my website. The shopping cart has been down for 2 weeks! Yikes! but I think I am back up and running fo rthe most part.. so I I can get back here and post again! Yippee!! :)

OH! And I am down 1 pound this week! :) (gotta get it updated on the easter challenge now!)

Missed you guys!

02-18-2004, 04:20 PM
Star--you're still doing under 20 carbs right? How'd you manage to stay on that so long???

02-18-2004, 04:24 PM
I'm used to it. I try to go up to around 30 every couple of months, but honestly, 20 doesn't take much thought for me anymore. I have a gagillion recipes that are low carb so I don't get bored. It just feels like normal eating now.

02-18-2004, 04:32 PM
Hi everyone!

Just popping in to say 'Hi!' I just finished my meeting with my supervisor - we have a big meeting with the guys at the company that I work with tomorrow, so we had to prepare for that, and now I have a tutorial to give in about a 1/2 hour, so I ought to make sure I'm ready for that.

In other news....there really isn't any other news, actually. Except the fact that I have to go in to work today after I leave school, so it shall be a long evening, but not too bad, because I so much prefer working when it's a quiet office. I share my office with 6 other students, and with supervisors walking in and out all the time, it's too many people for me. Maybe I should switch all my hours around and start working in the middle of the night!

02-18-2004, 05:49 PM
It sure would be great to see some of you chicks posting on the Low Carb daily thread. I see some of our former regulars are now posting here but we'd sure love to have you stop by to say hello to us sometimes. Not too many of us left on a daily basis.
I'm still doing Atkins. I try to stay around 15 gr per day. Still not losing. I don't know what the problem is with me. Very stubborn fat, I guess.

02-18-2004, 07:40 PM
Hey, ladies! Congrats to all the losers -- there seems to be lots of them today!! :cb: I sure hope to be joining you all in the future.

I had a meeting all day today -- yuck! But, that meant I got to have a Subway wrap for lunch -- yum!

I agree with coffee on the issue you're having, TG. I thought it was just me that had that reaction, though. I didn't know that caffeine was stimulating in THAT way!

It is cold here!! BRRR! It is supposed to get down into the 30s tonight. I just feel like staying inside with a sweatshirt on and the heat turned way up. Oh, and watching "The Bachelorette." I'm such a sucker for that show.

Hope everyone has had a great Wednesday!

Take care,

02-18-2004, 07:43 PM
lol. sorry I had to laugh

Jdoggmartin...i think 30's was our HIGH today. lol

02-18-2004, 08:00 PM
I had a subway wrap today, too! I love those things! But I don't think the Atkins approved versions have enought veggies, so I make up my own. :p

02-18-2004, 08:16 PM
Hi all! Just dropping in for a second before I start dinner.

I told you all yesterday that I joined Naturally Women fitness club. Well, I went for my first time today and found that instead of developing a workout plan for me (what machines, how much weight, how many reps/sets, etc.) it was just more of the same bullsh** I heard when I signed up. I told the lady what it was I wanted and she told me that they don't really "do that," but for $50.00 I could pay for an hour with the personal trainer and SHE would do it. Idiot me, lacking enough caffeine in my sytem at 5:30 a.m. to make any sane decisions, blindly handed over my credit card and made an appointment for tomorrow morning. Then, I came home, read all the information, and found that it does say I'm entitled to a FREE hour of consultation during which they're supposed to develop a plan for me, teach me how to use the machines, etc.

Ladies.....I'm ready to hunt bear! I'm past the point of caring what others think. I am so sick of being told one thing and having another happen, then sitting back quietly so as not to make waves. So...I'm walking in there tomorrow and demanding that they do what I want and credit my card with $50.00 PRONTO!!!!! Hey, I've go no problem whatsoever calling their corporate offices. I'm a woman on the edge. I'm a woman on a mission. I'm a woman with a butt hanging down 3 inches below where it did last year. Hear me ROAR!!!!!

02-18-2004, 09:00 PM
Woooo hooooo! Go Paula!!!! :strong:

For some reason, a woman in now shouting TIWANDA! in my mind :s:

02-18-2004, 10:01 PM
spedmom--congrats on standing up for what's right!!! i can't believe they'd pull that junk. but you know, most people probably don't read their contracts so they DO get the extras out of them. Wonder what would happen if a poster or something should appear about them? lol

02-18-2004, 10:52 PM
It is sooo sad but that is the typical gym thing, they are always trying to sucker you outta more money. I hate that!!!

Jina: you watch the bachlorette?? I just haven't been able to do that one ALTHOUGH like a big dork I got suckered into "the littlest bachlor" It was a riot!! I am back on Survivor too since they are having the all stars....although I am sad cause they already voted off Rudy and he is my FAV. and Kentucky Joe didn't come back, that yucky flabby dang Richard always has to be naked!!! YUCK!! I am a huge fan of The Surreal Life on The WB, love it can't miss it and Ron Jeremy the porn star is the coolest guy...I would've never thought??!! And then last but not least "America's Top Model" Love it but dang could they get rid of Camille already she is sooooo wierd!

***Theo'sgirl reality TV line up for you all!!! LOL!!!

Well ladies i was on my way to the gym when DH called and was on the side of the freeway, his timing belt broke in his car....DAMMIT! But luckily he can fix it himself and it only costs 17.00 for the belt. BUT he will have my car at night until he can fix it on my gym schedule is all messed up.

Thanks for the #2 advice ladies I think I will stop by Starbucks next time I need help in that area!! Star what is good to order that won't mess up my WOE to much???

02-19-2004, 12:01 AM
Paula: You go, girl! I'm bad about standing up to people, but sometimes you just gotta do it.

Star: I add veggies to my wrap, too. I'm in love with cucumbers in it! The Subway people are trained well, though. Every time I say I want to add another vegetable, they say: "This will change your carb count." I have to keep saying OK until I get all the veggies on there I want. At least they're somewhat educated.

Brenda: Yes, I know it's pathetic to whine about the cold when it's barely going to dip into the 30s tonight, but dang, it's cold!!! :D

TG: Yes, I got hooked on "The Bachelor/Bachelorette" awhile ago, and I can't stop watching it. It's pretty cheesey, but I can't help myself! I actually watched part of "The Littlest Bachelor," too. I was passing time until I went to DH's softball game, and I couldn't believe what I had found on TV! What's next???

Take care, ladies!!
