I'm starting this club because I hate jumping all over the message boards. I want one place to hang out and talk to people who are trying to lose weight like me. I know that together we can lose the weight. I plan on posting here often so if you need a buddy I'm here. With your first post please tell your age, and how much you need to lose. And anything else you would like to share.

I'm Alexia and this is my first post of many. Im 28 years old and have over 100 pounds to lose
300/292/mini goal 260
02-16-2004, 07:54 PM
Hi Alexia! Feel free to join in with us at the CCRRMM (Courtly Challengers, Regal Reducers, and Merry Maintainers)! We'd love some new company.
02-16-2004, 09:14 PM
hi alexa!! nice to meet you i'm jodi 36 years old and i have close to 100lbs to loose. what type of eating plan have you been following?
02-16-2004, 09:36 PM
I'm Lynn 36 yo with about 80 to lose. I'm attempting to accomplish mini goals 10 lbs. at a time.
Well, tonight I was back at the gym for about 45 min. 15 min on the treadmill then the rest on machines. I worked up quite a sweat! On the way home I stopped at the grocery store for dinner. I was tempted to get a slice or two of pizza but thought twice and went for the turkey roll up. It was pretty good!
Anyway, tomorrow is aerobics then Wed. back at the gym. :tread:
How is everyone else doing? Write back when you can. :)
02-16-2004, 10:24 PM
Well, the eating plan I'm on is I just eat smaller portion, stay away from the candy and fatty foods, And drink more water. I just try to eat healthy because I can't stick to those low carbs fad diets :dizzy: they are nutty and for the long term...suck. I have lost weight before and have gained it back my problem is I don't like eating the same things over and over. When I'm on a diet I seem to stick to the same foods. So what are some of the foods you guys love to eat on your diet?
02-16-2004, 10:30 PM
Hi, Alexia, Jodie and Lynn!!!! I hang out with Wildfire and the CCRRMMs (we have more than one thread, being the chatty royals that we are) and second her invitation to join us any ol' time! We are all :queen: s there and I totally agree we'd love the new company.
02-17-2004, 06:28 PM
Many thanks Alexia, for starting this thread! Sounds like a good group here and we're all looking to lose a significant amount of weight. Congrats to Wisertime - that first loss is so important to boost morale. I've hit a bit of a plateau but am slowly incorporating exercise. Yuck.
02-17-2004, 07:20 PM
I always get stuck on plateaus and I know it's the lack of exercise I hate to exercise. I have a stepping machine that is making a very nice clothes stand:lol: Right now I'm working on that first 10 pounds and I'm very close. I can already see the difference in my face, and I so happy about that. With summer coming I'll be wearing my hair up and I wanted my profile not to be so chubby. Now I'd like to see the difference in my body :halffull: But that will take more time.
Thanks Wildfire Jodie Lynn I will check it out.
02-21-2004, 11:38 AM
How is everyone?
I am doing ok. I have been exercising quite a bit but I still seem to have trouble with eating. I get so frustrated with myself arrrghh!
I hate to admit this but it's as if I allow myself to eat foods that aren't any good, rationalizing that since I have been exercising it's OK. I know I am not doing myself any favors by thinking this way. It's just so hard to change a lifetime of bad eating habits. It's weird, I want this so badly, it's all I think about. It's common sense, I know what i need to do. It's just so darn hard!
One of my downfalls is I hate to cook. I have almost no food in the house right now. What I end up doing is going out to eat a lot. Some days I am good, ordering a salad. Other days not so good.
But enough of that. So Alexia, have you made your 10lb goal?? You said you were close.
Claudia, have you started exercising yet? I am sure it will break you out of your plateau once you do.
Write back when you have a chance.
02-22-2004, 05:47 PM
I know it's hard to stop eating whatever you want, It was easier that way. I went out to dinner several times a week and ate whatever I
wanted:cbg::burger::cookie::jeno::corn: all that got me was hitting 300 on the scale and feeling horrible. I still eat out, but not very much and when I do I eat less than I use to. If you deprive yourself you will only fail, I mean how could I live without some cookie dough:cookie:ice-cream once in a while;) And no I have not hit that 10 pound loss mark yet, but I will by the middle of this week. The more I lose the easier it is. It is so beautiful out today spring is on the way and it really makes me want to keep at it and lose this weight, soon the twits will be running around in next to nothing and I will be feeling so very fat. I'm only lucky that I caring my weight well and look nowhere near what I weight, but still I need to keep with this and lose as much as I'm able to by summer so I can feel better. The thing that also helps me as I'm losing weight is I took pictures of my body and face so I can really see my results as I'm losing, how soon we forget how fat we started out.
02-23-2004, 06:55 PM
Twits......  :D
02-24-2004, 04:21 AM
Well, twits is all I could get away with in here. My real words would be........... more colorful I guess you would say.
I have hit the 11 pound mark now. I love mini goals because I have so much to lose I get overwhelmed with the whole total I need to lose.
02-24-2004, 11:14 PM
Congrats on the 11 pounds!! That is so cool. :cheer:
I totally agree with you about the mini goals. 10 pounds is doable...80 pounds seems impossible.
I still do not have a weight loss to report. BUT< my pants do seem a little looser. :) I don't know, maybe my body needs time to get used to the idea? Also, I took tonight off from exercising and now I'm thinking maybe I shouldn't take any days off. I mean, I have the gym membership and I have the time so...back I go tomorrow.
Anyway, congrats again, keep me updated.
02-25-2004, 06:17 PM
I guess the best time to weigh yourself is in the morning naked and before breakfast. I have lost 13 pounds so far...I have a long way to go. But with my little mini goals it seems more possible. So 7 more pounds and I'll have a 20 pound loss. :hyper:
300/287/260 mini goal
13 pound GONE! :D
02-25-2004, 09:11 PM
Yes, I do the morning, naked weigh in myself. After I go the bathroom of course.
You lost two more?? Holy cow. Excellent!
02-26-2004, 07:03 AM
Yesterday I was a bit of a :ink: I had Pizza with cheesey bread. Mmmmmmm and it was good. Now back to eating normal.
02-28-2004, 06:58 PM
I had my pizza pig out :ink: Now I'm ready to lose lose lose! It's almost March and that means Spring, no more hiding in my bulky winter clothes.
02-29-2004, 11:54 AM
Boy, that cheesy bread is good huh? So much better than plain garlic bread. :D
I have to say though, I am a bit discouraged. I have been to the gym 5 times last week working out for 45-60 min each time and that doggone scale won't budge!!!   She's holdin steady at 230.
I do notice that I have a bit more room in my jeans but I was really hoping to see a few pounds gone at least. I know that it would give me the motivation I need to keep up the exercise thing. I guess I have to rethink my eating. I haven't been terrible, but not as good as I should be. I have a terrible sweet tooth so I have substitued low fat ice cream instead of regular and I have one serving per day. I think I am going to have to cut it out altogether. :(
Maybe I should go on a hunger strike? I can protest...oh I don't know....the color orange?
Anyway, you keep up the good work. What are eating by the way? The usual but smaller portions? That's what you said earlier.
On a lighter note, will you be watching the Oscars tonight? Billy Crystal is hosting ( I think he is the best host). He just so freaking funny
Enjoy your weekend, I'll talk to ya later.
02-29-2004, 07:25 PM
Don't talk about the cheesy bread you'll make me want some :T
What was your highest weight? I was wondering how much you have lost.
Don't forget that even if that scale stays put you could still be losing inches and not pounds. Maybe you should not weigh yourself for a week if your getting discouraged.
5 times! oh my god I would be so burned out on working out. 230, well I'd sure love to be there again. I'm so high up there now it is discouraging for me when I think how long its going to take to get back down. :?:
I also love the sweet stuff. Try not having your icecream I think that would help. Even if it's low fat it's prob. still bad all the good stuff is. :dizzy:
I don't have any set eatting plan like that low carb. Cr*p, or no fat cardboard. I eat everyday food just smaller portions. Like I love to have an eggo waffle & orange juice for breakfast, a Turkey sandwich (low fat thin turkey slices), pop, and veggie sticks w/a little uncle dan dip. for lunch. And chicken in a bed of white rice, fruit cocktail and pop for dinner. Snack: fig newtons.
No Oscars for me tonight I'm not much of a t.v. watcher.
03-01-2004, 07:05 PM
Don't get down about yourself, you are doing great. At least you can say you lost 13.
I think I may TRY not weighing myself for a week or as long as I can resist. I was reading a post from another thread and this one guy says that he weighs himself every two months!! I don't know if I could wait that long but I see the logic.
Yeah, I think I'll have to kiss the ice cream goodbye. If I have a bad craving I will go to the local convenience store and buy one serving. No sense in have a whole box in the house (which is too hard to resist).
Anyway, you sound like you are eating good. Keep it up!! :cheer:
03-03-2004, 02:27 PM
 Hi girls! So nice to meet everyone.
Lynn, thankyou for the invite over. This seems like the perfect group for me. ;) Have you taken your measurments? Like Alexia said, you could be losing inches and not pounds right now and that is just as good. Maybe if you take your measurments and check them weekly, you will see the difference and that will help you keep your motivation. :D
My DH was a boxing trainer and knows a bit about fitness and he told me that excersizing 4-5 times a week is plenty, any more than that and you will just be burning yourself out without accomplishing anything extra. Have you tried a different workout routine that targets different parts of the body than the ones you have been using? Sometimes that will break a plateu too. If you have a membership at a gym, have you asked anyone there for some ideas? I know most gyms here have personal trainers you can ask. Sorry, didn't mean to babble
Alexia, you must be my clone! We seem to think exactly alike about this stuff. I am 23 and need to lose exactly 86lbs. I only take my measurements and weigh myself on Sundays so I'm not staring at the scale all week and getting discouraged. I am also following my own eating plan. I want to make changes for a lifetime, not just right now, and I am addicted to food too much to cut out carbs and what not. I eat very small portions about 6 times a day instead of 3. Seems like in the past the more often I ate, the more weight I lost. When I starve myself, I gain. :o
I only eat what I can fit on a salad plate. It makes less seem like more. Plus I eat all the salad I want. If I go out to eat at a fast food place, I get everything in small size and at a restaurant, I immediatly put half my entree into a to go box. I eat whatever the family eats, its way easier that way financially and cooking wise and all that, but I make sensible choices. I cook mostly with water or non-stick spray and no salt or sugar for myself. It's really not as bland as it sounds. I drink flavored green tea so I can have it without milk and sugar and other than that I drink water, water, WATER!!!! I have gotten myself up to at least 64 ounces a day. If I want a soda, I drink either half of one, or the little 4 oz cans.
I excersize 4-5 times a week. I usually leave out Mondays and thursdays because those are my days I go back to work, but sometimes an extra day slips by. I don't have time for a gym but I do have lots of excersize stuff here. I change up between Tae Bo, Pilates, yoga, my bun and thigh rocker and walking outside when weather permits. Basically whatever I have time for and feel up to doing. With so many choices its hard to set myself up for failure. :dizzy:
Whew.......anyways, now that you are all asleep. I guess I will catch ya later! Thanks again for the invite, hope I didn't babble you all away. ;)
03-03-2004, 08:25 PM
I have not been measuring but maybe I should start? I still have no weight loss to report    !!! But I will keep up the exercise, I figure the scale HAS to drop at some point. I just wish that needle would move a little!!
By the way, what is DH? Dear Hubby? I see alot of people use that.
How are you doing Alexia? You are off to a great start...keep us updated.
Talk to ya later.
03-03-2004, 10:44 PM
Hi everybody. I'm responding to your invite on the buddy up board.
Alexia, 13 lbs., that's great! I was down 9lbs but after my birthday weekend, I was up 1.5 lbs. I'm have a problem getting on the scale too much. Randi(clnnymamma) is trying to help me with that. I'm trying to stay off it til Sunday :yikes: I had mentioned in an earlier post that I was able to get into a pair of jeans that didn't fit, without using plyers for the zipper
Lynn, kudo's to you for all that exercise. I am a morning person, but lately I cant fall asleep and I'm not getting up early enough to exercise. Nights are just hard for me, though I should try. Oh yeah, dh is dear hubby or husband
Hi Randi, I know how busy you are. And noooo, I didn't get on the  scale today. But I don't know if I can make it to Sunday  I will talk to you tomorrow I hope.
Well I think eating is ok. Sticking to my plan, but got to get moving. I am also looking at 10 lbs goals. but at least 10 goals. :yikes: Well we have to keep each other up. Lynn will be the exercise coach :coach: Randi the scale police :drill: and Alexia the voice of reason :chin: and I will......................
try not to whine too much  only kidding....I will be here to help, listen or do what ever I can. Thanks everyone :thanks:
I really do appreciate you all! :D :D :D :D
03-04-2004, 05:17 PM
 Hi everyone!
Well, I know what you mean about getting on the scale to much. When I'm losing weight I hop on everyday. Right after I get up and before breakfast it helps me because when I see that I'm starting to gain I try to control myself that day.
Not only should you measure, whip out your digital camera and take some pictures. Just make sure you leave your face out of the body pictures you don't want to end up on some web site porn someday. ha haha  Nothing is better for inspiration than seeing your fat bum stuffed into a pair of pants you used to slid right on. :o
Cinnymamma, I also like to cook with water or non-stick spray and no salt or sugar and sometimes I leave out the butter. I buy the good for you cereal that tasted great with no sugar, Cook my eggs in water, and eat my rice without the salt, I'm used to it now and it's better for you that way.
My birthday is next month and I'm dreaming about those sugary flowers of goodness already  :encore: The best part of any b'day cake is the flowers :T :hb: Mmmmmmmm flowers. :flow1:  Flowers! flower! flowers!
03-04-2004, 07:01 PM
Donna & Alexia:
You guys get a blue ribbon for best use of the smileys!!
03-05-2004, 12:15 AM
 Hi Donna!!! I was wondering when you would wander over. ;)
I wish I had a digital camera, but I do have a webcam so maybe I can sneak in some shots. It just depresses me so much to look at myself right now. My son is 2 years old and I still wear maternity shirts. I just can't bring myself to buy anything new and see what my real size is. :o I am out of the pants though. Knowing that size is scary enough! A whopping 22  I haven't been able to excersize this week so far either. :( That's ok though, I'm not going to get down on myself. It's the first week and I have majorly changed my diet so all is not totally lost. There is still the weekend too and the weather has been gorgeous. I know I will get out on the weekends. This week has just been so hectic in the mornings. :dizzy:
Donna you can make it to Sunday!!! If you want maybe we could start off with a twice a week weigh-in, if that will make it easier on you. ;) I might be the scale police, but I'm not the warden.
Lynn, I wish ya lived closer, I could use an excersize buddy. I hate working out alone. I am going to dig out my portable cd player and cd's and get cracking though. I can't expect too much to change just by diet. And if it did, what would I do with all the loose stuff. Ewwwwwww.
Alexia, Happy early Birthday in case I forget. :dizzy: I always wondered who ate the flowers on the cake. I'm not a big sugar person like that so I always try to get the piece with the least amount of frosting on it and then scrape that off too.
I have noticed I have been getting some nasty headaches every afternoon since I started this diet. I am going to post about it as soon as I find the proper forum and see if anyone has any advice or ideas about why. I am drinking at least 64 oz of water a day (and boy is that potty familiar now  ), plus a cup of green tea in the morning for the caffiene. I am feeling satisfied when I eat, just not full and Im hungry like every 2-3 hours so I do eat like 5 times a day. I am wondering if I cut out too many carbs.
Any thoughts? Here is the link to my post, if you are interested. headaches (http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?p=532609#post532609post532609)

It is 3 1/2 weeks until April 1st and I think we should all start a Spring Challenge to lose 7 pounds by April 1st :sunny: And yes that is a healthy appropriate amount of weight loss for 3 1/2" weeks. Don't be a :chicken: and don't say  YOU better say  I sure need this kick in the bum, and if we work toward it together :grouphug: I know I could do it.:coach: WHO IS WITH ME! COME ON! I NEED A CHALLENGE! WHO IS IN WITH ME!
03-06-2004, 09:27 AM
Hi everyone. Well I had a complete breakdown yesterday :( Yes Randi, I got on the  scale. I went up, up & up.   I was OP the whole time, just not exercising. That really thru me into a downward spiral and I landed in a big bowl of pasta w/Italian bread & butter. I paid dearly with a headache, stomach ache and cried for hours( I am not usually like that, this was worse than usual) It's just that I worked so hard at staying OP and to go backwards, I just couldn't take it. And of course living in a house full of guys(that I love dearly) doesn't help when I'm depressed. :( So the  scale has been banished to the attic :s: and I will get back on program and no more binging :jeno: no matter what I have to do :tape: I go for blood work monday morning :yikes: and I will try to make arrangements to get weighed in there every week. (since my  scale has been banished :s: ) Have an appointment to go get hair cut and colored today. Maybe that will help give me the lift I need :) So, I think I will take the challenge to lose 7lbs by april 1. (hopefully I will lose or maybe just be an april fool) But I think it's worth the effort. Thanks for listening. :thanks: :D
03-06-2004, 02:04 PM
Awwwwwwwwww Donna! :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: Its ok, I had the worlds biggest meltdown too, binging and then crying and hating myself for it. It's ok, dont let it get you down. The big thing is to get right back up, dust yourself off and go for it again! We aren't super humans and can't be expected to go through this without a setback every now and then. It's ok and you shouldn't beat yourself up about it.
2 hours after my big binge and breakdown, I found the new Atkins book. I am going to try it. It sounds so perfect for me. I know the first week is going to be extremely hard, but after that, it should fly. If I can quit smoking, I can kick this food addiction too!
I, too, take your challenge Alexia!!!! To 4 (including Lynn) gorgeous 7lb lighter bodies by April 1st!
03-06-2004, 02:24 PM
Donna, don't beat yourself up too much!! I also had a binge last week. I had a craving for nachos and of course you can't buy one serving so I ended up with a 12oz. bag of tortilla chips and a 12oz bag of cheese and I proceeded to binge on nachos three nights in a row! :nono: And I think a trip to the salon will help. I love getting my hair done. My stylist tells me I look like a news anchor when she is done (is that good or bad?? :( )
And Alexia, I say  to your idea :cb: 7 lbs. is totally doable. I really need to see a little weight loss to get me going here. It would be a waste to be going to the gym just to stay the way I am.
So ladies, we have 25 days to lose 7 lbs. I want to hear that everyone is getting plenty of :tread: :strong: :cb:
And less of :cookie: :m: :corn:
And on April 1 we will all be :cheer: :bravo:
Just picture us 6 months from now going thru our clothes and throwing the ones that are just too big to wear anymore. That is my dream. :cloud9:
OK, enough babbling. Let's keep each other updated as often as possible.
What do you do to stay motivated? Do you have a pair of jeans that you are trying to fit into? Or do you just want to do it for yourself, to feel better? Well, I have both of those.
03-06-2004, 02:29 PM
I still have maternity clothes  :( I do have a pair of capri pants I want to wear by summer and while 7lbs isn't enough to get me back in them (stretchy or not) it's a great start!!!
Lynn gets a blue ribbon for smilies today. I love your name by the way, it's my middle. Spelled the same too. ;)
03-06-2004, 05:29 PM
Lynn is also my middle name spelled the same to :)
Donna, I also have been having my pig outs :ink: Thats why I need this challenge. :high: We all have those kind of days :?: just get right back at it. And by April we all will be at least 7 pounds lighter. :sunny: To get started lets use the start weight/ current weight/ goal weigh at the end of our posts so we can all keep track of how each of us is doing. Now don't lie or be shy I'm the heavest here and I'll be truthful. I will post my weight later after I weigh myself.
A news anchor women? Well thats just a silly thing for her to say, but I guess to her that means you look beautiful. :D
I went clothes shopping yesterday I never care what size I am at the time I always like to look nice no matter how much I weigh. Plus I just love shopping :p
03-06-2004, 10:28 PM
Well........not sure if I have good or bad news. I weighed myself today and I am exactly the same, 236lbs. I guess that is good news not only because I haven't gained but because I got AF (aunt flo) yesterday and I usually put on a couple pounds in water weight that week. Not to mention my :ink: outs. So maybe I actually lost a couple pounds and AF is hiding it for me this week :?: Hmmmmm, something to think about. At least I didn't gain anything. :cheer:
03-06-2004, 11:13 PM
Aunt Flo? Never heard that one before  I think it is good news that you are the same weight at least you didnt gain, but don't over do it again real soon or you will then you'll be :( Wait awhile for another pig out :ink: I think a few pig outs now and then is fine. What fun would life be without a few indulgence :hat: And after I had my weigh in I think maybe I have over done my few indulgence one to many times.:chin:
300/290/:eek:mini goal 260
APRIL 1ST GOAL 283 :wizard: It's a start and we all have to start somewhere.
03-07-2004, 12:05 PM
OK, I have tried to add my sw/cw/gw to my postings, let's see if it works.
Alexia, I know what you mean about shopping. I love it too but I have had to scale back a bit since my credit cards are way out of control. But it feels sooooo good to find an outfit that looks nice. Not even an outfit, shoes, pocketbooks, whatever. I love it all. Once in a while I look for a bargain on E-bay. I love that you can buy something with a designer name on it for pretty cheap! :D I did go out and buy a couple pairs of sweatpants since I had only two and I didn't want to show up at the gym wearing the same stuff every other day. But I try to keep in mind the day that I have to go shopping for a smaller size or two :cp: I daydream about that all of the time.
Aunt Flo??  Come to think of it, I am usually good for a couple of extra pounds when she visits but not this last time. Cool!
Well, you all enjoy the rest of your weekend. Take care.
03-07-2004, 12:06 PM
Hey! It worked!! :)
03-07-2004, 05:42 PM
I Love Ebay  I wish I could find a good man on there. :lol3:
Anyway, I was just on my way to Ebay to check on my stuff up for sale and thought I'd stop by here and say hi  The offer for an email buddy is still there if any of you are interested you can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org I like the email because you can trade pictures and talk more. If you email me put 3fatchicks as the subject or your email may be deleted.
Whats with all the coffee smilies :coffee: :cofdate: :coffee2: I HATE COFFEE! YUCK
I'm goin Ebayin
03-07-2004, 10:13 PM
Ha! I HATE coffee too! Everyone I know drinks it but I could never develop a taste for it. I get my caffeine (sp?) from Diet Coke which I am addicted to.
The weird thing is....I love the smell of fresh ground coffee. I could smell it all day. I guess I am weird. Ohwell.
And I like your idea of bidding for a man on E-bay. I think you may be on to something....... :chin:
03-07-2004, 11:19 PM
 Well I got a man. Matter of fact our anniversary is coming up in a couple weeks. 3 years feels like 30. Although it would be nice if you could just put in your requirements and then bid on 'em. Talk about a time saver!
I like coffee.....or rather, I like sugar and cream with a little bit of coffee. I don't drink it every day. If I do, I usually grab a specialty one at Starbucks or something. Definitly not healthy for ya either way. My caffiene addiction comes from soda too. ::::sigh:::: It'll be the death of me.
03-08-2004, 02:59 PM
I also love the smell of fresh ground coffee, but could never stand to drink it :coffee:
03-08-2004, 03:56 PM
hello alexia, i saw your invite to join you guys. and it looks you all have a great time. i do not like the smell or taste of coffee. although i make a pot every morning for my hubby. hope to join you guys for some more chats. now that i have found where you all are.
03-08-2004, 08:15 PM

03-09-2004, 10:30 PM
Just want to pop and and give a quick hello.
So how is everyone doing? I have been avoiding the scale for the last two days and I am going to try to go until Friday or Saturday. I'll give you an update then. But I have doing fairly well with the eating portion. :)
And still going to the gym :tread: << that's me for 30 minutes then machines for another 20 or so. I haven't dropped dead yet. :) I will check in this weekend to give an update.
03-09-2004, 11:46 PM
WTG Lynn :cp: How is everyone else doing? Wonder where Donna is, haven't heard from her in a while.
03-10-2004, 04:12 PM
We may have not losed much yet, but we did lose Donna. Ok bad joke. I'm still working on it and I'm stuck :p oh well I just have to keep at it.
03-10-2004, 04:41 PM
thank you cinnymamma and alexia for the warm welcome. i have lost my weight so far by watching carbs, fat and calories. i was diagnosed in nov. 2003 with type 2 diabetes and from that point on did a complete lifestyle change. completely cut out soft drinks and significantly cut my sweets. i would love to join the april 1st chanllenge. my start weight, current weight, and goal weight are in my signature. my goal weight for april 1st will be 301 1/2 lbs. i wish all of you luck. hope to talk to you all soon.
03-10-2004, 05:25 PM
Just had a bowl of honey bunches of oats and a glass of grape juice so I'm good to go. :eating2:
Hi Lynn, I'm sure in no time you will break out of that rut. You must have great energy by now to be able to do all that working out :tread: :workout:
Hi Cinnymamma, I got your e-mail sense you think we have little in common I'll just stick to the mes. board. :dunno: :p
Hey Audrey, you are doing great :bravo: Have you gotten the type 2 diabetes under control sense your great weight loss? I don't know much about type 2. Once you get it can you get rid of it? :?:
I'm off to Ebay
03-10-2004, 05:33 PM
alexia, i have got my blood sugars basically under control. and no, sadly, once you have diabetes you have it for life. you can get off the medicine, sometimes, and control it with diet and exercise, but not everyone can do that. i plan on getting off the medicine eventually. my diabetes was brought on by my weight. no one else in my family has bood sugar problems. talk to you more later.
03-10-2004, 09:31 PM
Chequita, My Dh has type ll diabetes as well. His came with a multitude of other health problems that caused him to gain about 60lbs in a couple months. You should give yourself a huge pat on the back. Making such a drastic turnaround is hard, especially doing it "cold turkey". Are you following your own regimen or doing a diet like Sugar Busters?
Alexia, I figured that is what you decided and that works just fine for me too. :) Chat with ya soon!
03-11-2004, 12:52 AM

main goal 160
03-11-2004, 01:48 AM
Hi everybody, missed you guys :grouphug: I have been a little distracted the last couple days by ediets. Thought it might help. I'll take all the help I can get.
As you know I have scale issues. Finally went down a couple lbs :goodscale: :D Also will be getting weighed in at my docs office once a wk. They were really nice about it . I can go weigh in no charge anytime.
Alexia, no you didn't lose me that easily  I hope you weren't hoping for that because I like it here. sometimes I forget where I posted and fortunately saw one of you posts saying to search alexias together. so here I am. Check your email. :comp:
Chequitagirl, I also have type II for about 10 yrs. when my weight is down my numbers are down and vice versa. But the doc said I really have to get it off this time( the dreaded insulin is looming) so my motivation is to lose the weight and lose the meds. If you ever what to chat give me an email email@example.com or prvt msg me. Love to talk(as you might have noticed by now :lol3: )
Randi, How are you? DayDay ok. Did you start atkins yet. How's dh? Sorry I've been so distracted. Keep in touch.
03-11-2004, 01:59 AM
Hi Jessica ,
Glad to see you joined us. We have an april 1st challenge going to lose 7 pounds, we have been at it only a few days so if you would like to join in that would be great. Just post your start weight/current weight/goal weight at the end of your posts. It just gives us a little something to work toward together. :grouphug:
chequitagirl, That really sucks :?: I was told by my doctor I should worry about type 2 because of my weight. I was very scared so I went and had that sugar test, mine came back high normal sense then I droped 10 pounds. I was also getting high blood presure, but with only that 10 pound lose was able to get that down. Your really are doing great with the weight loss keep it up :goodvibes
Ok now I have seen some weird things but what is this freaky little monkey doing :jig: It looks funny and gross at the same time  :dz: :jig::jig::jig::jig: Maybe I don't want to know.
03-11-2004, 02:15 AM
I didnt want to lose you in fact I'm glad to see you back. :D I thought we had lost you, I have been on this site before and people come and go so fast. Stick with us. I'm happy you have a loss that's great :D . I would not want to weigh myself at my doctors they weigh me in my coat clothing and shoes. I mean give me a break. :bomb:
03-11-2004, 11:17 AM
good morning everyone. hope you all are having a wonderful thur. thank you all for the words of inspiration, they were all taken to heart.
alexia, beats the heck out of me about the monkeys. if you find out let me know.
welcome jessica, and yes we hope you stay around a very long time.
i really must be getting some work done, so i will talk to you all later.
03-11-2004, 07:37 PM
I'm really excited I recently found out my older sister is having her first baby :bb: She is my only sibbling so this makes me a first time Aunt. :smug: I'm giving her a baby shower and I'm busy trying to find out what I should do for one. I've never even been to one. :?: All I have heard is they play stupid games I know I won't be doing that my sister agreed with me the games are silly. :dz: If any of you could give me some ideas about food and really anything Id really appreciate it. :) The only thing I'm good at is the gift giving because I Love  shopping.
03-11-2004, 10:32 PM
Alexia, that is awesome. I have been an auntie for 4 1/2 years now. And #2 is on his/her way. I love being an auntie. (or ah eee ...how my newphew would say it when he first started talking) :D
I am not an expert at party planning but I would say it doesn't have to be anything formal. Are you having it at your house? If so, I would have a deli platter and things like cheese & crackers, veggie platter just easy things like that. Or if a couple people are having it then maybe a few people could bring a dish. I had all of the above and someone made chicken wings and a salad. Of course about 7 of the people ate before they came over!! I forgot to say on the invitation that lunch would be served! Duh!
Donna, Congrats on the weight loss!! :bravo:
Jessica, I'm sure you have seen it here or heard it elsewhere but any kind of exercise is good. Start with walking and work from there. Or if you have a Curves close to you that would be a great start also. I used to go there but the only thing I didn't like was the hours. They were just a little too restricted for me.
So how is everyone else doing? All working hard towards our April 1st goals??
I think I still need help in the food dept. I can't quite "let go" if that makes any sense. I kind of wish I could afford Nutrisystem or something like that so I wouldn't have to think about food. But I have been VERY good about avoiding sweets, I think right now my problem is carbs. Ohwell, I'll get the hang of it.
Anyway, I'm glad to see more people on this thread the more the merrier! I know I can use all the support I can get. :thanks: everyone!
03-11-2004, 11:32 PM
I have been trying to get more people to join us when I see someone interesting I invite them on over. :D
Thanks alot for the ideas I'm going with the deli platter great idea less for me to do. And a assortment of friut balls, strawberries and grapes in a bowl. Must have a special made cake maybe a cake shaped like a baby :bb: or that mite be odd to eat:o, maybe a baby bottle cake any excuse for CaKe! I never would have thought to put on the invite that there would be a lunch so thanks :hun:
I HOPE ITS A GIRL :crossed: :bb:
I'm having a hard time with eating RIGHT  AHHH I suck! I must try harder, I want to meet that april 1st goal.
03-12-2004, 12:04 AM
Hi every one I too have to lose weight I am 184 and only lost 4 lbs since Jan

03-12-2004, 12:15 AM
We are trying to drop 7 pounds by April 1st It was something I started so we could work together :grouphug: I needed the kick in the bum. You can join in, but to be realistic your goal could be 5 pounds by april 1st unless you are really great at dropping weight. I'm going to have to be at this point because I was in a rut, but I will still make that goal.
03-12-2004, 02:05 AM
I take you all up on that challenge to lose the 7 lbs by April 1st...Now just a question is that group goal or individual...I only weigh myself on mondays just not to be flustered or anything but I will take that challenge...
As for my exercising...I do a mile each day and I started out with about 40 mins and now its down between 25-30 mins for it... :dancer: and I am definately getting my water in...man I bought the best bottle for it too...a nice tall 64 oz bottle thats not too bulky...one of those a day and I am doing good...
lets get this challenge underway :cheer:
Current weight: 258
Short Term Goal: 200
Long Term Goal: 160ish
03-12-2004, 05:22 PM
It is a personal goal, not a group. 7 lbs. loss for each of us.
APRIL 1ST CHALLENGE
03-12-2004, 09:02 PM
Alexia what a great motivator :cheer:
Ok friends, we can do this. I just have to try and keep the PMS monster under wraps, I call her Sybil, she has many personalities.
I'm still trying to work with ediets. Its seems ok. A little overwhelming but keeping me busy. (and I exercised 3x this week :tread: :dancer: woo hoo)
So, stay motivated girls. we can do this one challenge at a time and hopefully get to where we need to be. (thinner and healthier)
03-13-2004, 12:01 AM
Just thought I share some good news with you guys...man let me tell you it made my day...I went shopping *which I hate cuz they have the special PLUS SIZE section for me* I look through the racks and what do you know...no 26's...i was bummed but then I thought to myself, hey you've been losing some weight try a 24..I brought 3 pairs of 24s into that fitting room... :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: they fit, loosely...didn't want to disappoint myself so I stayed with them and left with a great big smile on my face...
I hope everyone is having a good night and their goal is getting more attainable...
Start weight: 260
Current weight: 258
April 1st goal: 251
03-13-2004, 10:31 AM
Way to go Jessica!! :cp: :cheer: When that day comes for me you will need a crowbar to pry the smile off of my face! I do have a pair of jeans that are waiting for me. I bought them many years ago, wore them once, then after I washed them...forget it! So I have been patiently waiting for the day that i can wear them again.
Grandma, why do you say "only 4 pounds?" That's great! How are those Walk Away the Pounds tapes anyway? I see people talking about them on the exercise threads.
Donna, what diet are you following? Are your menus planned out for you?
I hope everyone has a great weekend.
03-13-2004, 02:56 PM
hope your having a great start to your weekend. Went to see Spartan with Val Kilmer last nite(well let me re-word that, I went with dh to see Spartan starring Val Kilmer  ) Pretty good, and then we did the Walmart thing at 1am. We love going late. Anyway with Aunt Flow on the way the pms monsters were howling last nite and could only be tamed with pizza :jeno: way too much pizza. So today I'm drowning them with water. Hopefully Aunt Flow will show up in the next couple days and take them with her when she leaves :lol3:
Congratulation on the 4lbs to you Grandma. That great :goodscale: :cp:
Jessica, smaller sizes. what a wonderful thing. give your self a big deserved pat on the back for that one. :cb: :cp:
Lynn, I follow sugar busters plan, but on ediets the do have a meal plan that gives you a menu but I usually use the substitution option and conform to my sugar busters. I basically did it for the discipline (I'm not very good keeping a journal :write: , and also for support and ideas. I signed up during a special for I think 12 weeks, I don't know if I'll re-up yet, too soon to tell)
Hi Alexia, Your always so busy and involved. I don't know where you get the energy. I am going to have to work extra hard this coming week to make up for the damage of the pms monster and still make our April 1st challenge. But I really am going to try.. so keep the motivation going everyone :cheer: :coach: :cheer: :tread: :cp: :jeno: :drill: :tape: :cheer:
03-16-2004, 02:50 PM
Hi everyone! :D
Had a great weekend. Hows everyone doing? We only have 2 1/2 weeks left on that 7 pound weight loss. SpRiNg Is CoMiNg! :encore:
03-16-2004, 04:44 PM
well i can't add any loss to my weight totals. i had a 1 lb. gain this week, but that is alright. clothes are going down in size and i feel great so better luck next week. hope everyone is having a great week.
03-16-2004, 07:54 PM
Hello All! :wave:Just stopping by to say hello. I was reading your thread and felt like posting. I hope you don't mind.I have a serious weight problem which I have had for most of my adult life. I am having lots of health problems and I guess I just looking for a few friends that possibly share the same problems. I have to get this weight off!!! I have about 150lbs to lose and am really off to a slow start. (Any encouragement welcome!!) Thanks for listening. Have a good evening. The Not so Sunshiney Lady:kickcan:
03-16-2004, 08:54 PM
Welcome sunshine lady! Of course we don't mind. Pop in anytime. What type of plan are you following? I have about 80 to lose and right now I am just doing my own thing, trying to stay away from sweets and making sure I exercise. And I am like you, off to a ssslllooowwww start.
So how is everyone? Is anyone closer to to this months goal? I am holding at my 2 pound loss. (I want to say something sarcastic to myself but I will refrain) I will try to avoid the dreaded scale until the weekend. I did take a couple of day off last week from the gym but I have been going every day since Sat. It's snowing now, supposed to get 4-10 inches. Yuck. I thought spring was on it's way. :?:
Well, everyone have a great St. Patty's day!! :) :)
03-17-2004, 12:44 AM
Welcome sunshine Lady...Im new too and these ladies have treated me pretty darn good and im sure you will have the same too...
Its good to hear that everyone is doing well...
I am very surprised at my weekly weigh in let me tell yah...Saturday I pigged out like you wouldn't believe it...went to the Olive Garden and had a feast...It was darn good and I enjoyed every minute of it...also went and saw 50 FIRST DATES with Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler...great flick I reccommend it...
Anyway, now that I have gotten off track let me get back in...my weekly weigh in said I lost 2 pounds...after all that junk and i still lost...man was my head spinning :spin: yah something like that...so as far as my April first goal is set at I have just about 5 more pounds to go...
My favorite holiday is tomorrow so Happy St. Patricks Day everyone... :) :) :) :)
Start weight: 260
Current weight: 256
April 1 goal: 251
03-17-2004, 02:08 AM
Hey girls, just stopped to by to say congrats on your accomplishments and goodbye. Don't think this is the place for me but it was lots of fun while it lasted. Keep up the good work and you guys will be exactly where you want to be in no time.! Bye!
03-17-2004, 05:20 PM
Anyway... Hi everyone! Glad to see we have some new people here. Lets work hard to make that small goal we should be able to make it...if not I feel we are not trying hard enough I know I have been lazy. Oh boy this is hard :eating2:
03-17-2004, 08:57 PM
Hi everybody
Haven't been feeling too great the last couple of days. Waiting on Aunt Flo was killing me. Of course she showed up late and that prolonged the anxiety. Then I got a call from my gyno, and it seems I have to go for more test. Fibroids and a cyst in the ovarian area. I'm trying not to go into one of those who care's modes and pig out. I'm trying to stay possitive. (yeah right :?: :stress: )
Hey Randi, I'm sure you'll find a great fit out there. Good Luck! :goodluck:
 Sunshine Lady. Out of all the places to be on this board. This is my favorite. Everyone on all the threads are great, but I like our little group.
So post often. We are here. I have alot to lose too. Over 100lbs. I look at it 10 lbs at a time. It takes time but if we don't try we never will. Stick around and :D :D :D
Jessica, that is just great. Eat and lose, gotta love it. WTG :cb:
Lynn, As far as the goal, I can't believe I lost 2 lbs. I've been hitting the salt sweet cravings all week waiting for AF. I am also try to stay away from the scale  )
Where abouts in CT are you? I have friends in the Danbury area. What was the total " you ended up with? We had about 5" in Westchester. Still had flurries today. Might get more on friday  Just want spring to get here.
Hi Alexia, Well, It looks like a group is growing. That's cool. :grouphug:
I can't believe the challenge only 2wks away. :fr: It didn't seem too hard but I've go 5 to go. How are you doing?
Well, hope everyone had a H :) ppy St P :) tricks Day!
03-17-2004, 10:12 PM
Donna, I'm just east of Hartford. Danbury is a little over an hour away. We are close enough that we probably get the same weather. I think we got 5" or so and yes, more on Friday. Come on Spring!! Where are you??
Sorry to hear about your news. But from what I know, that is a fairly common condition. What did the doc say? Is it easily treatable?
Alexia, you are so right!! This is hard. I mean I knew it would not be easy but I feel like I am working hard and not seeing much in results. And actually, I am a very patient person. But this makes me crazy :dizzy:  I'm not ready to throw in the towel but man, I wish the scale would give a little.
Had an awful day at work. We had to fire someone today (first time I ever had to do that) My stomach was in knots just thinking about it. And to make matters worse, the woman was late because of the snow so my anxiety dragged out an hour longer than I thought. Even after it was over, I wasn't quite right all day. I guess that is selfish of me to say now that i think about it. But man, it was a hard thing to do.
Well, it sounds like everyone is down two pounds. :cheer:
We have two weeks...I know we can - I know we can  :D
Stay positive everyone, believe me, I know that's not always easy to do, but we can do this!!!
03-18-2004, 01:22 AM
Oh my my :) I had a shamrock shake today! oh boy and it was GoOd. I'm glad we are warming up here and Spring is in the air because if I see just one more F#*@#@*! snowflake I'm going to freak out! :dizzy:
Don't feel bad Lynn I'm fatter than you :D :lol3: and I'm just trying to get where you are now. Hey did that make you feel a little better? :D Now I feel bad......just kidding
03-18-2004, 08:52 AM
Good Morning All!
Thank you so very much for the welcome. I'm sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you. I guess I now know why I was so "blue" the other day. I came down with a stomach virus and didn't hardly feel like doing anything. :faint: I'm still weak but stomach feels much better. I lost a little weight, but believe you me, that's not the best way. :nono:
I am just trying to change my lifestyle - way of eating (woe). I am cutting back on portions, trying to eat low fat, low cholesterol, and low sugar. I have diabetes so I have to get this weight off so I won't have to go on insulin. I was on insulin about 7 months during my last pregnancy, but don't ever wish to do that again.
My whole family is overweight, some more than others. My dh really needs to lose as much as I do but doesn't seem to have the desire. I am cooking low fat, good foods and I'm trying to eat more veggies and eat less. My dh is eating the same foods but going back for 2nds, 3rds, etc. And then he's miserable. I can't seem to convince him that if he would stop after the first plate and wait 20 min, he would never eat the rest. He would be full. I'm been having lots of blood sugar ups and downs no matter what I eat which effects me losing. I have messed up my metabolizism over the years yoyo dieting and now it's so hard to lose just a little. My body is worn out and I'm only 42. My knees won't hardly let me walk on the treadmill anymore and we live out in the country so walkingfast enough outdoors is hard too.
Well, I'm going to try to have a wonderful day and I want all of you to also. It's a beautiful spring day here in the south with the birds singing and little plant heads peeping up through the ground and little leaves on the trees peeping out of their buds and stretching toward the sunshine's warmth. God's world is GREAT!!!!:flow1::flow2:
Have a good one~ We CAN and WILL do this!!!! :strong:
03-18-2004, 09:37 PM
I can't beleive how much we have in common. I am 44, with type II. I was on insulin 27 yrs ago with the first pregnancy, and I been on oral meds for about 10 yrs. The doc said insulin is around the corner if I don't get the weight off. I also have high cholesterol and high blood pressure. My dh eats what ever junk he wants and doesn't really have a weight issue. Maybe 20-30 lbs, but at 6'2" he doesn't look heavy at all. I have over a 100lbs to lose. I think we should buddy up. Maybe we can help each other. Anyway, if your interested
Lynn, I'm in Ossining(westchester co.) about 30 min outside Manhattan and about an hour from Danbury.. So the way I figure it we are about 2hrs apart. That's nothing to me. I drive 1800 miles in 1 1/2 days every yr to meet my old man at a bike rally in South Dakota. So maybe we can meet one day. Doesn't seem like there are alot of us from around our area around here.
Anyway, going to lie down. AF showed up yesterday and she's wearing me out. I'm anemic and this week to 10 days will be really hard on me.
Won't go near the scale til the weekend. Then the April 1 crunch is really on.
Hi  Alexia, Jessica and all. :grouphug: talk to you all soon. :D
03-18-2004, 11:03 PM
Hey Alexia, I don't think I've had a shamrock shake since I was a kid. Are they minty? I don't even remember! And stop putting yourself down! :rollpin: or I will beat you with my rolling pin!
Donna, you drive to SD in a day and a half? Are you doing 90? :yikes: Just kidding, but I thought that was a longer drive than that.
Sunshine, sorry to hear about your stomach virus. I HATE being sick. Hope you are feeling better. :twirly:
But it sounds like you are off to a good start on your weight loss the way you are eating.
Jessica, did we lose you??
03-19-2004, 12:52 AM
Oh yeah they are still as minty as ever :) Watch it with the rolling pin
:rollpin::headache: I think you may have given me a virtual smack with the rolling pin because I have a headache today. I'm going to go to bed bye
03-19-2004, 08:49 AM
Good Morning ALL!!!
Just checking in. I hope I manage to eat better today than I did yesterday. I had a busy, busy day and didn't plan my eating well. :blah: And sure didn't feel like doing a lot when I got home. I'm still so weak from that bug. :dz:
DonnaD ~ Thanks for the welcome and the email addy. I will try to touch base with you today. I was too busy yesterday. Isn't it "funny" how the ones that need to lose the most weight seem to hold on to it like a magnet? :sumo: I have to have all the factors just right to lose one lb. My BS has to be in range, my metabolize has to reared, ready to go, I have to "be good" for days, etc. Then finally off comes this lonely little lb. And of course, it can't be anywhere near that TOM.
Wisertime~ Yes, I'm feeling much better - just weak still. But I'm strong and will bounce back soon.
Alexia~Hope you have awoke to a headache free day today! :rollpin: :nono:Those rolling pins are hard on the head.
Hope everyone has a GREAT day!!! We got near 90 yesterday!!! I actually got hot. LOL Today is supposed to be 82, we will see. I have a couple of hours work this morning, daughter's softball game this afternoon but maybe I can slip some garden time in there in between. I hope so!! Great exercise, I know, cause the morning after "speaks" to me from every joint and muscle in my body. :stress: Have a good ON PLAN day!!!!
03-19-2004, 10:22 PM
Happy Friday all :D
Well, I have been draggin myself around the last couple of days. Hopefully next week after AF leaves I'll feel better. Have to hit the spinach and red meat this weekend and take the iron supplements ...Yuk..the give me such a stomach ache :(
Alexia, How is the :headache: you gotta watch out for those :rollpin:
Lynn, yes, I do 80 - 85mph most of the way. Once you hit Wisconsin the posted speed limit is 70mph and SD it's 75mph. yeeeee haaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!
You have to do 80 just to keep up with the triple tractor trailors and 85 to pass them. 2 yrs ago I was riding my bike, doing about 85 and my front tire blew out and the bike dragged me about 100 ft. So now I only make the trip on four wheels. It's approx 26-28 hrs driving time. I usually leave at 5am, stop one night and I'm there the following afternoon. (One yr a girlfriend and I shared the driving and :coffee: :coffee: :coffee: and drove straight thru)
But when I drive alone, I stop overnite.
Sunshine, Glad to here you're feeling better. Though sometimes a stomach bug is a hard way to kick start a diet. When I get desperate, (too often) I try doing liquids for a couple days to get me started. Last time I tried it I ended up having to eat something. Almost passed out and my doc was not too happy about it.
Anyway, my youngest is bleeping me on the nextel. Needs me to email him something. (21 yrs old and still needs Mom.....Thank God.)

Good Morning All!
I'm just waking up and sipping :coffee: and trying to wake up. I had a really busy day yesterday and didn't get to do much I wanted to do as planned. I am a home health nurse and I'm on call this week sooooooo I got called a lot yesterday. You know if anything is going to go wrong with anyone it's goin to be on Friday or the weekend. Oh, well, I did get to go to my dd's softball game, they won 20 to 6!!! :cb:
DonnaD ~ I have never tried the liquid diet except when I have a virus or such. I don't know if I could function well enough. My BS fluctuates so much and especially not eating regularly, I just don't know. When I was younger, thinner and non diabetic, I could do the liquid thing all day. . . . . . chocolate shake, .....vanilla shake, .....strawberry shake,..... but somehow I don't think THAT's what you mean.
Jessica ~ Don't ya just hate when AF comes to visit! I think I could do without her visiting me every month. Maybe I soon will. (I doubt it) Don't worry about the chocolate bar. I crave chocolate at that time too. And sometimes feel like I will hurt someone if I don't get it. Ya know? Put it behind and move on. Today is another day.
Well, gotta go get ready to go to work for a little while. Hope you all have a wonderful Saturday. And do like me and try to just get outside and MOVE. Walk, garden, sit in the sunshine, etc.. :sunny:
Talk atcha later.
03-20-2004, 09:45 AM
ok this is weird....you see I have an Aunt Flo also...and and she dropped in on me yesterday...she didn't even call, how rude! Anyway, I, like Jessica, had to have some chocolate so I had a Hershy bar last night. Man, that was good. I couldn't help it, it was a true chocolate emergency. I don't have those all of the time but when I do, look out.
Donna, I can't believe you took a spill going 85. You are very lucky but I'm sure I don't have to tell you that. I don't blame you for traveling by car now.
I think I'm jealous of sunshine lady. We have no sun up here to speak of. Still snow in the ground. Enough! It seems easier to lose weight in the spring/summer. I am out of the house more, doing more things. I cannot wait!!
I will have to avoid the scale for a few days due to AF. I am a bit worried about making goal by 4/1. :?: Today I am taking my niece to see "Secret Window" with Johnny Depp. I'll let you know if it is any good.
Happy first day of Spring!
03-20-2004, 12:37 PM
Your right, this is weird, yesterday Aunt Flo made me eat cadburry chocolate w/roasted almonds. She's the  and she's everywhere.
We are still deciding whether to see "secret window" or "taking lives" I be here for the reviews tomorrow.
I am going to get on the scale tomorrow  I don't think AF being on my back is going to help.
I have to run now. Be back later.
Happy Spring everyone :grouphug:
03-21-2004, 10:13 AM
Good Morning All!!!
Just checking in while sipping :coffee: It was a beautiful day here in the south yesterday (sorry to brag) and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Had a few showers overnight and possibly today but :sunny: now. I got a few plants for the garden (squash) and some beautiful flowers for the yard. I even got a fuchsia plant that has fuchsia and purple blooms, totally gorgeous!!!
Didn't eat real bad but not real good either but stocked up on the good foods and ready for the week. I tried to buy a few more frozen veggies like okra and brussel sprouts and already have cauliflower, broccoli, spinach and greens. Got fish, chicken, in supply for the week and also have deer meat.
But I'm thinking it's going to be Aunt Flow's week, so who knows what will happen. Guess I should have bought chocolate, after reading these posts.
Well, have a good day, gotta go to work. Take a few minutes today and plan your week as I will.
Cya later
03-21-2004, 11:13 AM
:coffee: aaahhhh I really need the coffee on Sunday mornings. We catch a movie on Sat nite then go to the diner. Dont get home til about 2am.
Then on the :comp: to wind down.
Went to see "Taking Lives" with Angelina Jolie & Ethan Hawke. I thought it was really good. At one point I actually did one of those loud inhales. I won't tell you why of course, in case anyone gets out to see it. Suppose to go see "Passion of Christ" during the week with some girls from work. I'm a little nervous about that. I heard it's very moving. But I've been away from the church for some time and my faith needs a boost. This might be the kick in the pants I need to start appreciating what's been given to me.
Well, enough of that. How's everyone today? We are still working on our first floor, so of course there is a lot of junk that has to go. We've been cleaning out. Also have laundry and shopping today. Trying to really plan eating better this week. Hopefully Flo will hate the healthy food and leave. I was supposed to get on the scale today but decided to wait until tomorrow. (Ate popcorn at the movies :nono: )
Ok Sunshine, rub it in. We did see a little :sunny: yesterday. BEFORE THE RAIN! but on the bright side, it wasn't snow. Sun is trying to peak thru this morning but the clouds are winning.
Well, if I don't start cooking some breakfast, these guys will never get out of bed. So off to make blueberry pancakes and sausage. Yum.
Hopefully catch up with you all later. :grouphug:
BTW, Alexia, everything ok? Haven't heard from you in a couple of days.
03-21-2004, 02:45 PM
Hey gals, hope everyones Sunday afternoon is going swell...I know mine started off rocky but I gots to set off to work soon so i need to down some water and try to get rid of the effects of last night...Thank God AF is gone and now I can feel a little better...
Had a pretty happening night last night...Got dragged out by my friend to go see a local band *she has a little crush on a member of it* and needless to say it was pretty cool...we had a blast and I drank a little too much..hence the rocky start of this morning...but heck I was like this the whole night :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: and i probably lost some good calories shaking my groove thing...
Had a little question...I can't seem to stick to my walking regimen...I was wondering if you chicks have any input on a Curves Fitness Center...there is one right next door to my work and I was thinking of joining but not quite sure...I've heard good and I've heard bad... One thing I heard was a girl who joined actually gained 9 lbs :?: and I want to be there to lose some weight...I know I need some exercise and I was thinking that was the best way to go...
Have a great day all and I will be back sometime later after work...
03-21-2004, 09:45 PM
I had a HORRIBLE weekend eating wise. I could not seem to get my eating under control. Ugh, I feel awful.
Jessica, I joined Curves last year. I think you would like it. I liked that it was all women. The machines are easy to use and the staff is helpful. I'm not sure why that girl gained 9 lbs?? They do say that if you start working out you can gain but that seems like quite a bit. The only thing I didn't like about Curves was their hours. They close at 7 on weekdays and are open Sat. only until 11 a.m. No Sundays. That didn't work for me and I ended up joining a full scale gym in town. I have to say though that Curves gave me the confidence to go to the gym. Check out a thread under "exercise" I think, that is all about Curves.
I saw "Secrect Window" this weekend. It is based on a Stephen King story that I read many years ago but forgot about. It was good. Scary, but not too scary. I really like Johnny Depp. I think he's a great actor. One of my faves. Right behind Kevin Spacey. Donna, "Taking Lives" is next on my list along with that new Jim Carrey movie. Our paper gave both 4 stars so I have to see them both.
Well, I hope you all had a better weekend then I. Back to the gym tomorrow. I think I'll have to add an extra 20 min on the treadmill (all week) to try to undo the damage I did. Talk to ya later.
03-22-2004, 08:53 AM
Good Monday Morning!!
Well, today starts a new beginning for me and losing weight. I am going to start a very involved program that I have come up with myself. Wish me luck. :Lucky: I am going to be eating High fiber, Low fat, Lots of veggies, fruits, very moderate amount of lean proteins,:chicken:nd whole grains. I also am going to walk on the treadmill :tread: several times a day. Since I am so overweight and have so many health problems I can't walk very long at one time. I have been reading a diabetic book that recommends walking 10 minutes 3-4 times a day and building up to longer times and fewer sessions. The important thing is to get at least 30 minutes a day, and be patient.:halfful:
Since I do have diabetes, I may have to adjust the diet as I go depending on how my blood sugars do. I have read so much though that talks about how fiber makes you feel full, helps you lose weight, and helps maintain BS levels from meal to meal.
I weighed this morning so here are my new stats:
292/286/150. Not very pretty site but at least I am losing. I am losing like they recommend, one to two lbs a week. But at this rate, I will probably be 207 before I reach goal.
Lynn~ Sorry you had a horrible weekend!!! Just get up, brush yourself off and start with a clean slate. You can't do anything about the past. But be determined to make the future better. :grouphug:
Jessica Sorry don't know anything about Curves except what Lynn said. Hope you are feeling better. :headache:
DonnaD~ Hey, it looks like rain:rain:today and tomorrow so I guess we will have to wait till Wednesday for a little more :sunny: Being new, I missed what you are doing to your house?? Can you catch me up? I have to have my :coffee: every morning and normally while checking in with ya'll I'm sipping it. ;) I love blueberry pancakes! We keep some frozen around all the time just for that reason. And my little one likes me to smash up a banana and mix it in. It's pretty good but not as good as blueberry.
Well, ladies, I better kick in gear and get going. Still have to walk on the treadmill. :tread: I should walk before I drink the coffee but totally not able until I wake up. Have a GREAT MONDAY!!!!!
03-22-2004, 03:28 PM

HAVE A HAPPY MONDAY.
03-22-2004, 04:32 PM
Hi everyone
Weekends over,I'm back.
Had a good weekend of shopping, went to Coeur d' Alene ID. Drove by the lake it was beautiful out but a little cold in the shade. Our Spring is here 65 today. Give the skinny dips a little sun and off come the clothes
 I swear if I'm ever thin I'd like to keep my brains. The worst part of summer is the dumb bimbos.
I decided to make chocolates for my sisters baby shower so I got some molds over the weekend Teddy bears, bottles, rattles, booties, safety pins, stollers. I made some last night because I need to learn how to do it. The first set was great the second didn't melt right...I put the flavor (blackberry)in to soon. :dz: oh my
03-22-2004, 05:18 PM
Hi, I am needing to lose 160 pounds , and sometimes I feel like its hopeless, but as I was reading some of what you have to say , I know I'm not alone , I think I'll stick around for a while and chat from time to time.
03-22-2004, 08:41 PM
Just testing out these new colors but I dont think I am doing it right...oh well maybe one day I will figure that out...hehehe...this place is so neat with the graphics, colors, and people you meet...too cool :D :D :D
Hmmm...I wonder what this week will bring me...I hope its a great one for me and I hope its even a better one for you gals...I just hit a milestone...The scale I bought as a backup finally lets me see it...you probably dont understand it but I bought a scale without realizing it had a weight limit so I started going around again. Well yesterday when I weighed myself I actually am "on" the scale now...didn't that make me happy... :cheer:
I was just wondering how everyone is doing with our April 1st goal...I hope we're getting closer and closer as the days go by...I am at just about 4 lbs lost but now they are seeming not to come off as quick as before but I guess thats okay at least its still losing...Keep me posted on how we all are doing...
I wanted to give a big WELCOME to PityGirl...take it from me...this is the place you want to be for support and guidance...these are a great bunch of gals...
a nice :grouphug: for all of you :)
03-22-2004, 10:47 PM
Well I think I can find any excuse to go off program. I was great all day. Started out with exercise. Brought my food to work. Didn't cheat(and they had all kinds of crap at work) Then I got home. Had my allowable snack. I got a headache and that was the beginning of the end. I ate a huge bowl of cinnamon toast crunch cereal with whole milk and a potato chip chaser. What the heck is wrong with me  I am a mental case, that must be it. I think I feel since I watch people graze on the junk all day that I some how got cheated and go haywire. Then the headache called for sympathy eating :stress: I am so  at myself. Well that's enough self pity. Tomorrow, start the same way, exercise and maybe bring more food to eat late day at work so not so hungry when I get home. Though I don't think it's hunger.
Jessica, good news about the scale :goodscale: I have a totally different relationship with my scale  Great job on the colors too. I find it confusing, but I'm not much of a :comp: person. This is my first and I 've only had it a few months. Oh yeah, on Curves. I liked the concept. I had joined a couple of yrs ago and the problems I ran into were 1. sometimes I would get someone very elderly (no disrespect, I will be there one day God willing) but they would have trouble entering and exiting the machines and it would throw off the timing and I would miss part of the workout. 2. The limited hours of operation. Holiday scheduling was a nightmare, they were never open(and that's when you need them most) and as Lynn experienced, Sat mornings was it for the entire weekend. Now some people have posted that they belong to 24 hr curves where you get an entry card. I don't know anyone personally who has that though. But it does work for a lot of people.
Pitygirl, I have over 100 lbs to lose, so you're not alone. This is the best place to be though. I belong to ediets and still spend more time here. We can do it :high: Of course days like today don't help.
Alexia, Hey! Missed you this weekend. How are the chocolates doing? I would be very tempted to test every batch :chockiss: By the way, I feel terrible about doing so poorly on this challenge. It will be a miracle if I pull it off. But I'm still trying.
Chequita, way to go, or should I say Weigh to go! You have a good shot at making the challenge. :cp: Must be fun when your girls are home. My guys are all home. None of them finished college. But they are working and trying to figure out what they want to do. Gotta love em'
Sunshine, sounds like a great plan. I think I will take my :tread: out of retirement after reading your post. I am a diabetic also. My problem is my fasting BS. During the day when I'm eating I do ok. But after not eating all night it's up around 200 in the morning. I think the high fiber works. I think that's what my problem today was. I had yogurt an pretzels instead of triscuits or ww bread and BS must of spiked and it was downhill from there. Carbs were a callin' Had to have cereal. Well Good luck :crossed: I'll be trying too.
Lynn, oh Lynn, I know how you feel. I blew it today. How will we ever make it to the challenge. I was down and up and down and up. Right now only down 1lb and only a week to go  Well, you know as well as I, brush off and start again.
I hope everyone has a great tomorrow
:D :D :D
03-23-2004, 04:57 AM
I really don't have a BIG problem with :chockiss: I only ate a few to taste test. My problem is cheeseburger and frys from Zips now that I love :cbg:
Welcome PityGirl you are really not alone in this. I also have over 100 to lose. So I'll be here for awhile. It seems less Hopeless when you have people to talk to in here and you see them doing it.
I was reading some of the back post: I'm not big on going out to movies I'd rather watch them at home. But I did see Pirates of the C. and I love Jhonny Depp even if he was acting kinda Qweer in that movie. I just seen Duplex on dvd and it was not as great as I had hoped. :p
03-23-2004, 01:25 PM
Good Morning :coffee:
I like your idea of 10lb goals I think I will try that, I am going to the beach in June so I want to try and lose at least 20lbs before then , not that it will help my apperance, but it will make me feel better, I am proportioned kinda good so I dont look as heavy as I am. Thanks for listening . :grouphug:
Just a little about me , I am married , just had my 15year anniversary , I have 1 child ( boy 14years old), and I am 34 years old , somtimes I feel older (hehe)
Starting weight 336 pounds goal, goal weight 175 pounds.
Talk at you later , bye for now
03-23-2004, 11:57 PM
Well, I am (mostly) back on track after I fell off the wagon this weekend. Though I did steal a couple of hershy kisses from someones candy dish at work. :chockiss: :)
Alexia, it's funny, I cannot resist chocolate but I don't care for burgers. Hate them actually. What is Zips? A fast food joint? We don't have that around here.
Donna, you are right, we cannot beat ourselves up too much. (though I did a little bit) I figure losing weight is like other things in life. You don't always get it right the first time. Just gotta keep trying. Don't give up. Right? And I know what you mean about people cutting into your machine time at Curves. I would just stay on the machine when I was supposed to be on the recovery boards. I would go to the board every two times instead of every other.
Chequita, way to go girl!! :cheer: Gimme a "C"...gimme a "H"... :) You must feel great! I'm really happy for you.
03-24-2004, 12:55 AM
Well today I would say I was about 70% successful. Had a couple of items I shouldn't have( a little stuffing w/dinner and some ww pretzels) I overslept and didn't get my exercise in. By the time I got home and made dinner it was after 8pm. But I drank 72oz of water, took my vitamins and will do better tomorrow. So will all of us. till tomorrow, good nite ladies....
03-24-2004, 10:29 AM
Good Morning Ladies!!!!
Well, I am disappointed in "my plan". I stepped on the scale this morning and I have gained two lbs. Now grant you I know that could be due to exercising, fluid retention since Aunt Flo is coming soon, or too much food. :?:
I have a regular problem with fluid retention anyway, which can be very frustrating!! It may just be several factors but I like to see results. Ya know?
Tuesdays are very hard on me and if things are going to go wrong it will likely be those days. I work a different area, so have to leave home about 5:30 and don't get back till about 3. And I'm worn out by that time. I do that for the extra money, every week, I wonder if it's worth it. :bomb:
DonnaD~ 70% successful is a whole lot better than not successful at all!! So give yourself a hand! :cp: Doing the treadmill will help to lower your blood sugars in general which very well may help your fasting BS. I am having a hard time with doing even 10 minutes! The first time, was only able to do 4 minutes!!! But I have asthma and a diastolic heart failure so my heart is already working hard just to carry all this weight around. My doctor says any movement is good, no matter how long. It's all for the good of getting me healthier.
Pitygirl~ WELCOME!!!! I think you will find that this is a great group that encourages you and understands where you are coming from. Please stay around and let's get healthier together!!!! I totally understand about what you said about feeling like it's hopeless. I feel that a lot but try to stay positive that each little step I make in the right direction will help me lose another lb, another inch, or all a hour or day to my life. So, when you look at it like that, it helps to stay focused more.
Alexia ~ Don't you just love lakes and nature? We love to go camping quite a bit in the summer, and I think it's great to get those kiddos out in nature to fish, swim, run, etc... We have wonderful family times and it is great exercise too. I used to make chocolate and other flavored candies for events. Practice will help you to get them just right. Just have to watch the tasting.
Chequitagirl~CONGRATULATIONS ON THE 4LBS!!! AND THE TOTAL OF 50.5LBS!!!! :bubbles: :bravo: :high:
Wisertime~ I think you are right about maybe not getting it right the first time. My problem is I haven't gotten in just right and I'm on the 204th time. But I still trying!!
Jessica~ I think your colors look good!!! Congratulations on all your loss!!! Yes, it does slow down but we have to keep trucking along.
Well, I guess I better make my first stop to the treadmill. I don't have a lot of patients to see today so I'm starting a little later. Like I said, I was worn out from Tuesday, so I tried to rest more. Tried. Hope EVERYONE has a GREAT HUMPDAY!!!! It's :rain: here, no :sunny: for us today. :( But it's suppose to be back tomorrow. :)
03-24-2004, 05:10 PM
Lynn~ Yes, Zip's is fast food. I also love chocolate, but the chocolates I'm making are made with white chocolate and I can pass on that, My weakness is candy bars, cookies, icecream, cake and anything sweet. Plus Zip's.
 :hb: :cookie: :m:
I have to go do the ebay thing now I'll check back here later
03-25-2004, 12:39 PM
Good Thursday to All!!!
I am so mad!!! I just typed you for 20 minutes and then the :comp: closed that page and it was lost to cyberland forever!!!! Anyway, Hello!!!
I am frustrated with my diet and I'm thinking about trying South Beach. A friend of mine told me that unless I limit my carbs I will never lose weight with diabetes. *sigh* I thought eating lots of veggies would help me. I may be a nurse, but there's way too much out there these days for losing weight. And now I learn that my diabetes makes it even harder to lose weight and that's a major reason to lose!!! **
Well, where is everyone? I don't like talking to myself, but I seem to be doing it pretty good, huh? :gossip: :blah:
Well, as if I'm not busy enough, I got talked into coaching 8 and under softball. Don't get me wrong, I love softball, but at my weigh, standing out in the heat throwing the ball around, etc will be hard on this fat white woman. We draft tonight, wish me luck.
Gotta go for now. Someone, please write while I'm gone, so I don't have to talk to myself.
03-25-2004, 12:50 PM
just a quick check in. i hope everyone is doing great. thanks for all the pats on the back. i'd do it myself, but i am not that flexible, ha ha ha. i don't have a lot of time, considering i am at work. everyone keep up the good work and hope you all have a great rest of the week.
03-25-2004, 08:06 PM
Hello Ladies :^:
Well so far so good , I have those walk away the pounds dvd , I've making myself get up early and workout hopefully by next week when I weight myself again I will have lost a couple of pounds, we shall see. If you havnt tried the walk away the pounds dvd, I recomend it to everyone very easy to follow even at my heavy weight. well gotta get back to work.
Talk at ya later
03-25-2004, 10:26 PM
:comp:I was reading posts all over this website, and I must get this off my chest I'm sorry I just must say this. I'm really getting sick of hearing about carbs. :blah: :bomb: My god by now we should all know what to eat to lose weight. :eating2: I know what to eat..do I eat it? no, but I know that one must EAT to lose weight and that means eatting CARBS.:chef: Cutting carbs from you diet is a short term solution that one should never stick to :nono:, but if you think it's the way:rolleyes:, go get your cholesterol and blood pressure checked you may be causing more problems for yourself. :dz:
I never will understand why people think you must lose weight by
depriving torture. :?: I'm not a know-it-all I'm just a fat chick who knows just why I got fat and I do know how to lose this weight, but just need the motive to do it. ;)
There is a really excellent program I went on years ago to really learn proportions. It was Richard Simmons deal a meal. I know alot of people just can't stand the man, well get over it. ;) He has a really good program and his workout tapes are really great. I'd much rather watch him jump around like a "pony" than some bimbo anyday.
03-26-2004, 12:28 AM
Hey Alexia, don't hold back  I must agree, sometimes when I read back thru posts, we do sound like whining saps, but at the same time its a way to vent all the frustrations we all face day to day. The focus seems to fall on carbs because the white carbs really do seem to trigger binges. Most of us know this, but if we all did what we were supposed to do, then we wouldn't be here. Would I give up this board to be thin tomorrow? You bet I would. Love you gals, but to be thin and get my health together I would do just about anything. Unfortunately the "anything" that needs to be done is a lot harder than anything else I've had to do. I know that sounds pretty pathetic, but thats the way it is. So I keep coming here, to share good news :) and bad :( and to get things off my chest  and to voice my frustrations with it all :?: And yes, misery loves company. So hopefully, and we have to hope, we will pull it together. We slip, we get up, we start over. It's better than the alternative. Did I get to deep? Just figured I'd take over :cheer:
for today. It's not easy, I get very depressed with the diabetes etc....(unfortunately a very big etc..) but I'm doing this for a very good cause....me!
Hope everyone had a good thursday. tomorrow TGIF. Here's to an OP weekend
03-26-2004, 09:00 AM
Good Morning All!!!!
Alexia~ I totally agree with you that as adults we ought to know what to eat :chicken: and what not to eat :chockiss: :cookie::jeno: and really there shouldn't be that many choices. But there is. We obviously don't really know what to eat :dunno: or the weight loss industry wouldn't be as large as it is and we all wouldn't be overweight and there wouldn't be 3fc site.
There are many, many factors that effect each person's weight loss including their chemical makeup, diseases, conditions, metabolism, hormones, ability to exercise, willpower, etc..... In my morbidy obese condition,:sumo::stress: I've had not one but two doctors recommend to me to go on the Atkins diet which severely limits carbs, as you know. And one of these doctors was a cardiologist. And I had one tell me, in my condition it really didn't manner HOW I got the weight off but that I did. He told me that having all that extra weight on my body making my heart pump very hard was going to wear out my heart, my joints, my bones, etc.... and do worse damage to my body than limiting carbs would or could. I did try it but hated it. The whole time I was on it, I craved fruits and veggies, and other things. It did not work well for me.
So, I have tried other ways but with not much success. I have many factors effecting my ability to lose weight including blood sugar levels, heart condition (from the weight) asthma, worn out joints, inability to exercise much, etc.... Until yesterday, I was totally closed minded toward even the South Beach diet. That was until my friend said what she did. She is a very well educated diabetes nurse, who teaches all about it. Then I started researching the internet sites including 3fc. I was surprised :goodvibes:to find that SBD only limits a few veggies, and most all veggies and fruits are added back in during Phase 2 which most start the third week. Yes there is limitations on breads, some starchy veggies, simple sugars, etc... But my point is, it is NOT near the restrictive diet that Atkins is.
I've tried everything else and don't seem to move the scales in a lower direction so why not try the South Beach diet???? :goodscale: :nono:
I'm very sorry if I have offended you in any way. I was just looking for a place to "fit in" and make a few friends along the way, that could be encouraging and supportive. If this site isn't the one, then I will move on down the road. I don't want to be where I am not wanted or liked. I wish you all a thin future and a decrease on the scales. Have a good one.
03-26-2004, 01:59 PM
It was not our posts I was talking about. It's other mes. boards on this website that I see alot of carb madness :dizzy: . I don't think we have ever talked alot about carbs in here. Until now
Let's not get crazy :?: I was NOT offended by ANYTHING ANYONE in here has said. It's clear you are offended by what I said you should not take things so personaly I was not even talking about anyone on this board. Everyone in here should feel free to speak their mind and give their opinion and I will continue to do so.
03-26-2004, 02:36 PM
I really did not do my best this last week:ink: I know what I should not eat but we all know those are the best tasting things.
:D :cookie: :m: :jeno: :burger: :mcd:
Anyway, I'm sticking to it I'm going to give it my best this next week. My scale seems to want to stick in one place, but I got into a smaller pant size. The pants were some I already had...ones I could not get into before I started this diet.
I have been thinking about getting a new piece of workout equipment. Any ideas :dunno:
Has anyone seen that info commercial with that workout lounge chair to funny, looks like fun for lazy people like myself. It looks like a lounge chair you sit in and it bends in all different ways. What will they think of next. (and no I dont want it :D )

I hope everyone had a great day and the weather was good for everyone like it was for me...This was me walking out of Curves today !!!! Sun was shining, the air was crisp and I felt damn good...Its amazing I have never been to a gym type place before and man did I love it...can't wait to go back...So all in all I like Curves and I can't wait to go back...such friendly faces and women of all shapes and sizes...I saw to 70+ year old women working out with me today and it was great... :D anyways thats enough of me...Oh yah one more thing...the cool thing is they weigh and measure you...Kind of sad though..on their scale I weighed in at 267 and on my scale its 254...maybe I should just take the average... thats what I'll do...
Been reading these past few posts and man, what a carb kick this is turning out to be...myself honestly...i have never even thought of counting carbs or lowering them...but like I have been told different things work for different people...my diet may not work for others but it works for me...I guess what Im trying to say is that all of us sensible chicks should just follow what works for us, and not what society, tabloids, gurus or other people say should work...Hopefully that made sense and i didnt sound like a total fool...:tape:
Lets hope the weather stays well and we will get more motivated to be outside...I know this crappy snow rain and sleet keeps me unmoviated...better weather = better weight loss for me...LOL...I hope everyone is well and they are closer to reaching their goal that is just 5 days away...
:grouphug: for everyone..
03-26-2004, 10:07 PM
correction their scale said 257!!! boy I just added 10 pounds to myself...bad bad Jessica
03-27-2004, 04:30 AM
I will contiune to speak my opinion, but I will stay away from the CARB issue:ziplip: there is to much passion around that issue :soap:  To many Pro Carbers :snooty:
What is curves? a gym I know but whats differant about it? I'm not sure we have one here, but I did see an ad on tv. I'd like to hear more about it.
I will be gone over the weekend again but I will read all the post and talk to you all on Monday.
Jessica, it was probably just your clothing or if you ate before you were weighed that made you weight a little more than at home~unless you were naked at curves :o and I'm sure you were not. ;)
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYONE!
03-27-2004, 11:46 AM
Happy weekend everyone (yay) :D
Alexia: Curves is a womens only place to work out. They have about a dozen machines (hydraulic) that you rotate on. There is music and an annoucement every 30 seconds telling you when to change machines and check your heart rate. There should be one close by to you, I know they are nationwide. It's a great place to get exercise and the people are friendly.
Jessica: So you did it huh? Good for you, I'm glad you like it! Keep us updated on your progress.
Donna: I was just reading your post regarding Medifast... :chin: You know, I was really hoping that by cutting out the junk food and exercising would show results but it looks pretty dismal so far. So I am considering the Medifast. I looked up their website. Looks a little pricey though. I wonder how the results would be with Slimfast? Is that even comparable? I think I'm feeling a little desperate here.
Sunshine: So are you starting South Beach? I did a little reading on that - not much. I agree about Atkins - I don't think it would work for me since it is so resrticted but I keep hearing of people losing a lot of weight.
So then why would I want to go on an almost all liquid diet?!?!?! :fr:  I don't know, sometime the thought of NOT having to think about food appeals to me. I know I would have to concentrate on keeping it off when I go back to regular food and that is scary.
Well ladies, 5 more days until 4/1. :stress:
Have a great weekend.
03-27-2004, 01:09 PM
Hi Lynn, I went on the Medifast website but you had to put in so much personal info and before I got to prices I closed out, I didn't want to sign my self up accidentally. Did you find the prices without going thru all that. Let me know what sight you went on. I've done slim fast before. I was ok when it was the powder you mixed, but the cans give me terrible gas :o and I think they have quite a bit of sugar. I get desperate too. The nicer weather is coming. Camoflouge (sp?) clothing will be too hot to wear. :( I would just like to get rid of a chunk, a very BIG chunk  I know it seems like copping out but I haven't been close to my goal in over 20yrs and I would really like to see what it's like to say "I have 30 lbs to lose" when ever I see that on the board, I think, " how lucky for you" Anyway sorry to ramble. You can see this is becoming on obsession already. I should just shut up :tape: and stop eating so much.
Sorry Alexia if I go on so much "but I didn't use the dreaded "c" word.
Also, curves (and they are all over the place) usually offers a free wk. Take them up on it. Since they differ with hrs of operation and clientelle (sp?) I always got stuck behind people who took 15 seconds to get off the machine and it really cuts into your workout. But definitely worth checking out. Just didn't work out for me. The hrs were to restrictive. More suited to people with more daytime hrs available. Weekend were only Sat mornings.
Jessica, I am so happy its working out for you. Congrats on the progress!
Well lets hope the next 5 days are light ones (maybe if we only put on foot on the scale to make the challange
03-28-2004, 01:54 PM
This is the website I went to. Click on Shop Online and you can see the prices. Ouch. www.medifastdiet.com
Out of sheer desperation, I went to the store yesterday and bought an 8 pack of Slimfast and a box of the meal replacement bars. The plan is to have a bar or a shake for two meals, two snacks (either fruit or a yogurt) and one SENSIBLE meal. Now hopefully, this combined with going to the gym 4 times a week should show something. I'm giving it a couple a of weeks and if I don't see anything this time I will go to the doc's and see what they say.
So how is everyone today? Good I hope. Has anyone started their spring cleaning yet? I haven't but I REALLY need to. My apt. could use a good de-junking and some dusting. :dizzy: And my dog need a bath. :spin: I'm so glad it's getting warmer out. Me & the dog go for a lot of walks in the nice weather. Everyone - enjoy the rest of your weekend. Take care.
03-28-2004, 03:52 PM
Im not going to write much, just want to let you all know im alive...im having a very servere case of insomnia which is bringing on tons of migraines...im going to get to bed to just lay in it forever like i have been doing the past 3 nights...
03-28-2004, 05:42 PM
Hi Lynn, thanks for the link. I am also going to call the doc I went to back in 88 and see if he still does it. If it's not possible then maybe slimfast is the way to go. Good luck with that. Let me know your progress. I rooting for ya' :cheer:
Oh Jessica, you poor thing. To be overtired is bad  but to get migranes as a result :headache: I feel awful for you. When I get a bad migrane I go in my room, make it pitch black and put a light pillow over my face to block anything else including sound out. I pray to fall asleep. But with insomnia, I don't know what I would do. I hope you feel better soon. Three days of this must be so draining. I hope by the time you read this post, your well rested and not just checking in. Good luck sweetie!
Well for a weekend it hasn't been too bad eating and exercising. Probably too many legal snacks. But no binging or :ink: out. That good. Enjoy the rest of the :sunny:
03-28-2004, 06:17 PM
One thing Donna, It looks like you don't need to go thru a doctor to buy the medifast supplies. You can just order from the site. I know you mentioned that you had a couple of medical problems so maybe that would be best anyway. I guess I am lucky (so far) my only problem is blood pressure which is borderline, but not high enough to go on meds. But my brother (only 33!!) & father (neither have a weight problem) both take meds so I have to be careful.
Jess, I feel for you. I really hope you feel better very soon. :balloons:
03-28-2004, 08:05 PM
DonnaD~ I also love the warm weather, but I'm worried WHAT AM I GOING TO WEAR! ahh.
Lynn~ I'm sure the slim fast will work you arn't eatting much so you will lose weight. I went on silm fast years ago and dropped 30 pounds I got so sick of the taste of that stuff I gaged ever time I drank it :p. I gained it all back when I started eatting lunch again. I was going to try it again because now they have it in cans and I thought it would taste better but it is gross. If you can stand it I'm sure you will lose the weight. Good Luck If they still have the powder stuff I should try it again, but when I start eatting lunches again I should eat very light that should work.
Jessica~ :bomb: I hope your feeling better soon :(
03-29-2004, 08:32 PM
Hello hello hello
Quiet in here today. Where is everyone? I think I'm going to be a bum tonight and skip the gym. Does typing count as exercise?
Well, it is day #2 of my Slimfast plan. I am hungry but managing. It's funny, to read the testimonials and everyone says "I never felt hungry" HA! Liars! Well, I was planning on the first few days being hard to get used to. We shall see how it goes. I don't think the stuff tastes so bad....I just wish there was more of it. :twirly: I have also read what people on this board had to say and the majority seem to have a bad opinion of it. Too much sugar they say. Maybe if it goes well I will look at alternatives. Snapple just came out with their own version of "meal replacement" drinks. I guess I can check those out if I get bored of Slimfast.
But spring is on it's way :flow1: Short sleeves and short pants :fr: Which means I'll have to shave my legs on a regular basis   I hate to admit it but I really let them go this winter. :yikes:
I know we have our 4/1 goal coming up and I wanted to ask....should we do another one? How do you feel about it? Did it help? or hurt? I'm a little on the fence about it. I'm not sure why. Maybe it is hard for me to admit my failures?? I know you won't be judgemental but I may feel like an outcast if everyone is losing and I'm not. I don't know. Let me know what you think.
Well, I'm off for my last shake of the night Oh, I have a snack left to eat too! mmmmm, probably a yogurt. You all have a good night. Talk to you soon.
03-29-2004, 10:56 PM
Yah, it's been quiet around here. I was home today. We had to use any left over vacation days by the end of march. So I took the bathroom apart. I hope that counts as exercise cause that's all I did.
I found a doctor finally who has medifast. It wasn't easy. I am waiting for them to call me back. I can probably get the supplements thru them and still get my blood work done thru my own doc. Hopefully I will here from them tomorrow. But in the meantime I am preparing myself for the possibility of not going on it and have been trying to stay on plan. still think I'm eating too much of the allowable foods but for the most part doing ok. I don't think I'll make the challenge I think the last time I weighed my self I had 4 to goal. I don't see that happening. But I do think the challenges are a good idea. Maybe we all just weren't into enough this time. I must say I was thinking about it when I ate what I shouldn't have eaten. Not that it stopped me every time, but it kept me from binging and that's a good thing, so it wasn't for nothing. The challenges don't always have to be lbs lost. It could be water, exercise. I like the lbs though. Maybe we should try again. What do you all think. Maybe more butt kicking. Maybe more :grouphug: Well? Let's here it guys?
Hope everyone had a good start to their week.
03-30-2004, 12:45 AM
I really think the challenges are a good thing because like Donnad said It may not have stopped me every time I wanted to pig out, but it did sometimes and that's better than nothing. At first I was thinking I'm not doing another because I failed this one, but I need them to keep me thinking about what I could have done if I had only kept at it. I would love to go for a April 30th challenge but I feel 10 pounds is to much to ask for what do you think what should we go for? 7? 8? I slack off when I don't feel part of a group goal. Any new ideas?
03-30-2004, 08:16 PM
OK Then we'll decide on another challenge. I guess sometimes I feel sorry for myself. I just need a kick in the butt once in a while. The experts say that you should lose 1-2 lbs a week so I guess anywhere from 4-8 for the month. Or we can set our own?? We can post it at the beginning of the month then report at month end.
Did we lose Sunshine Lady? She has not posted in a few days.
Jessica, how is your head? Better I hope.
Donna, that would be cool if you start the medifast. I know you said you tried it before and it worked! It would be similar to what I am trying. I saw that they sell things like cereal & soup. At least that is better than shakes only. I am finding that I look forward to that one meal a day. So far so good. Day 1) I had a Lean Cuisine 2.) a Turkey wrap 3.) I had a grilled chicken sandwich and a few baked Lays. I did sneek a peek at Mr. Scale today and I was down a couple of pounds. Thank God. A glimmer of hope! But I will try not weigh myself daily I will shoot for once a week if I can resist.
Alexia, how long did it take you to lose the 30 lbs when you tried Slimfast? Just curious. I was just thinking if I shoot for 10 a month I could be down 30 by July 4th!! woo hoo!
Have a good night!
03-30-2004, 09:45 PM
ok, it's another challenge. I say lets go for 6lbs this time. It's the average of 1-2 lbs a wk or close to it. What does everyone else think?
Lynn- that's great about the 2lbs. I have scale issues. I can skip about 2 days, that's my limit. Hey just a thought, since the first challenge is officially over April fools day, can't we just say "yeah, I lost 7lbs" guess that would count huh? I'm a little nervous about starting medifast. But we can and will succeed. Plus I don't want to look like a sweaty :sumo: this summer. :lol3:
Oh :sunny: Sunshine, where are you?
Jessica, how's the head banger. I know you had a few rough days. Hope you feel better. :D
Alexia, what do you think about the challenge. Shall we put butts in air for a good kicken and get started or what?
Well, hopefully here from you guys soon.
03-30-2004, 10:58 PM
Lynn~ On slimfast I lost the 30 pounds in about 4 mo. But you do get sick of those shakes :p how could you not after 3 mo. :dizzy: Just don't stay on slimfast for to long and you should do fine. And yes sunshine lady has left us due to my dislike of no carb diets. She is a very sensitive person and thought I was picking on her when that was not the case ;) I'm sure she will find a carb haters mes. board she can post on ~there are alot of them. I don't give a damn if anyone on here is on a no carb diet.
DonnaD~ 6 pounds sounds just right I'm with you. :D a sweaty :sumo: ha ha ha :lol3: lynn may do 10 if she dose slimfast, but we can shoot for at least 6 maybe we will do better this month :crossed:
I will try to get some new people to join us.
03-31-2004, 12:00 AM
Good Evening everyone...thanks for all the concern about me...I am feeling much better. :cb: :cb: got tons of sleep yesterday and the day before and now I feel pretty much back to normal...even though I didn't get much rest, I still forced myself to Curves and I did feel good afterwards and that was the night I slept very well...guess the exercise worked well... :cp: :cp:
As for the April 1st goal: I got down to 5 pounds lost and didnt quite make it to 7...who knows maybe a miracle will happen and I will lose 2 more tomorrow... I really like the ideas of setting group goals...that makes it easier for me knowing Im not alone and I have other people trying to do their best just like I am...and its nice to have people to talk to and get hints and tips about losing weight and stuff...I think another goal is great for April 30th, which is my christophers 22nd birthday...
WISERTIME: good luck on Slim Fast...I hope it works for you...I just couldn't get used to the taste of the stuff and I was always hungry cuz all I had was fluid in me...but I guess I wasn't made for it...I hope it works for you...Good luck and keep us posted...
Well, its an early day for me tomorrow so I have to get some rest if I going to work all day and then go to the gym and work out all my frustrations from the day at work... :strong:
Have a good day all
03-31-2004, 04:39 AM
Jessica~ April 30th is also my Birthday :hb: :gift: I love this challenge I'll get some cake after it. :D Glad to hear your feeling better.
03-31-2004, 09:26 AM
i have read every post on this thread and you guys sound like a great bunch of girls. my name is peg and im new to this site. my top weight was 228 and i got down to 204 but over the winter started inching back up to 221 so i have joined T.O.P.S (take off pounds sensibly)... www.tops.org... for a chapter near you. it is a non-profit support group that is very afforable. 20.00 to join and our chapter is .50 a week for dues. there are many chapters all over the U.S. and other countries. you go to your dr for a plan and the dr sets your goal for what is healthy for you. i joined march 11 and have lost 9 lbs already.
i guess for me knowing that i weigh in on thursdays and it is being written down is a great incentive. they give you support, monthly news magazine, contest, ideas, skits, and much more. i have learned that i need to tell myself that i am NOT on a diet but that i have changed my Bad eating habits. i am what i eat and it is there for all the world to see. i am walking a 25 minute mile at least 3 times a week and totally changed my bad habits. i figured out that i was eating when it was time (buzzer goes off at work for break...eat) hubby wants lunch so i would eat too....even tho i wasn't hungery yet) now i am waiting till the tummy starts growling and then i am eating healthy trying to keep calorie count below 1500 a day. so far it is working for me hope it keeps going that way.
well i better go and hope to keep coming back here.
talk to you LIGHTER!!!
03-31-2004, 10:01 AM

04-01-2004, 12:09 AM
I love apple salad we make it with sliced granny smith apple, celery, chopped walnuts, small marshmellows and the dressing of mayonnaise & sugar. I love peanut butter, but in the apple salad :p never. Sounds like you make it better for you by using lite mayonnaise. I also love the Veggies in dip. My big problem is with the snacking so I like having better snack food. Great Ideas!!
04-01-2004, 01:32 AM
Hi Peg, Now I have 2 threads I'll be running into you on. Welcome to our challenge. Now Alexia, we do have to post our true weight on april fool, I mean april first right, it's a legal lie day. Anyway, I was supposed to be starting medifast friday and just found out from my doc today that he absolutely does not want me to follow that program. Kind of cold cocked me with that. I was upset and depressed. But of course my wonderful caring friends on this board of helped pick me up and it's onward the old fashioned way. So hopefully I will get thru the 6 lb challenge. (didn't come close on this first challenge) I didn't make the TOPS meeting tonight. Too busy whinning. But I will go next wednesday. Maybe pick up some tips on doing it "sensibley" So tomorrow we post are "real" weight. Start your engines ladies..... :coach: ARE YOU READY?
04-01-2004, 04:55 AM
Hi everybody! can I join you? ;)
My name is Maria, I live in Italy and like you I'm trying to loose weight.
After trying all kinds of diets, I decided to go the classic way: limiting the amount of calories :ziplip: and exercising more :barbell: .
I've already lost 4lbs in 2 weeks :cp: , not much but at least something!
I'm 27 and 5'3"
see ya! :p
04-01-2004, 03:01 PM
Welcome to our two new girls...I am sure you will like it here...I was new but these gals made me feel right at home and I am very glad that i have found this forum...Its a great place to be and i feel pretty good after i read the posts...
Well, as we all know its April 1, which means our weigh date is upon us...and now we have to post our weights and stuff...and on the good part its time for us to start a new goal...I love these things...now Im having a problem...I haven't been to my place lately to weigh myself on the scale I usually do so I may have some descrepancies (sp) in my tally...So, I started the Curves thing and i will go by that scale for our next goal...it says there at Curves that I weigh 257.5 so that will be what I start this goal with...and the last time I weighed myself at my house I weighed 254 so I will say that I lost about 4 pounds for this challenge...I hope that made sense...Im all confused now...LOL...well lets get ready for the new challenge...
Have a good day...
04-01-2004, 03:10 PM

Donna, sorry to hear what the doc said. Why is he so against it? No worries, like you said, the old fashoined way. And I really do believe it get a little easier in the warmer weather. Even when I wasn't watching calories I always seemed to drop a couple of pounds in the summer months.
04-02-2004, 06:58 AM

Its good to hear that everyone is doing well and that we are all set for another goal...I think those things are cool if I haven't said that enough before.... Anyways...
I gotta tell you gals I feel like such a :ink: :ink: and its not cuz of the food I ate either...I was with my beau last night and we just were chilling and having a good time with drinks and movies...well, by the end of the night we had gone through a bottle of liquor and that is really really bad for you period not just on the weight side of it either...Not only do I feel bad for drinking that much my head feels like its getting hit with a rolling pin literally :rollpin: and my tummy hurts too...I was so bad, i didnt even go to the gym today which i should have but was feeling too yucky... :(
Oh well, tomorrow is another day and i am off to watch THE RUNAWAY JURY!!! I just love the novel and i hear the movie is just as good...
04-02-2004, 09:58 PM
Well, As much as I hated to I got on the scale and it wasn't a pretty site
 I am pretty much right were I started, 286. :?: That number has gone up and down 5 lbs for the last 2mos. Well, I will try and make that my goal, to break 280. I want to see 279. So I better get me self moving :tread: and stay motivated :drill: Well, that didn't hurt as much as I thougt. Stings a little though
Sounds like everyone is ready. Congrats to all our losers. Jessica, if I don't lose in this challenge, my head may end up feeling like yours :rollpin:  and not from drinking. I just gonna hit myself over the head til I pass out. Can't eat when I'm unconcious. :dizzy:

Oh Jessica, I remember those days! :hat: I used to be quite the partier but have calmed down in my old age. LOL. Just like anything else moderation is the key. I still like to have a couple of drinks once in a while (Capt. Morgan & Diet Coke is my fave) but I do remember hanging with friends and before you knew it, the bottle was finished. Just get a good night sleep, you'll feel much better tomorrow.
Have you seen that commercial for a pill that you can take? The husband is miserable with a hangover and his wife is chipper & perky. I think you're supposed to take it while you are drinking and it claims that you won't wake up with a hangover. I don't know if it works or not.
Well, I am writing here tonight to get my mind off PIZZA :jeno: :hun: I have had a craving for a couple of hours now but I will resist! I just hope the craving doesn't return tomorrow. During the week is much easier for me than weekends. Do any of you find that? I guess with too much free time, my mind wanders to food.
But I do have a small victory to report. There is evil lurking in the office where I work....TWICE this week one of the women brought in freshly baked cupcakes (frosted) On Tues. she had spice flavor with vanilla frosting, but today, TODAY was chocolate w/ chocolate. Oh man! I did stare for a while but I did not have a crumb! for those of you who don't know...I am a chocoholic. Big time. But I had to remind myself that after those two minutes of euphoria would come the guilt. If I am going to fall off the wagon I figure I better wait for true emergency.
So who has big plans for the weekend? Anyone? Anyone? Not me. I have to work for a couple of hours tomorrow then pick up some dog supplies then the weekend is mine! I will probably try to see a movie. I am also waiting the arrival of a few books I bought from Ebay (I can't stay away like you Alexia!) I love that I don't have to pay $25.00 for a hardcover. Sure, they might be a year old but for a $24.00 savings I will wait. Oh yea, I bought a video too. Has anyone ever watched Mystery Science Theater 3000? It's one of my all time favorites. I think it's one of the funniest shows in the history of TV. I mean, I laugh out loud until I cry. It wasn't a commercial success, but it has a loyal following. If you have ever watched one episode, you know what I mean.
Well, guess I have babbled enough. How is everyone? Donna, let us know how the TOPS meeting is ok? I remember years ago I went with a friend to an OA meeting. At the time, I didn't get much out of it. But my friend went on to lose a large amount of weight and has kept it off. But my frame of mind was VERY different then. This is going back 10 or 12 years Ahhhh, if only I knew then what I know now.
Peg, way to go on the weight loss! :bravo: :bravo:
Well, this time I'm really going. Sorry this is so long. But I had get my mind off the you-know-what. Have a great weekend!!
04-03-2004, 09:04 AM
yes the weekends are the hardest. i have to really watch it . last weekend
we went out to eat and i got a salad and water and then later we stoped at
a gas station and i stayed in the car, well my  dh comes out with a
reeces peanut butter ice cream bar for me. GRRRRR... i told
him "this isnt on my diet" and he said eat it anyway you had salad for lunch.
jeeeez maybe he is trying to sabatoge my success :?: . i dont know but i
ate it :ink: :rollpin: and then im thinking i shoulda just thrown it out the
window. but i still had my 2 1/4 loss so i guess that one ice cream didnt kill
me :) .
it doesnt help that we have been married 21 years (almost 4/16 )
and he has worn 32" waist the whole time. he is 5' 8" and weighs 145 he
eats whatever he wants and 2 hours after a meal he is getting into chips or
something. talk about good metabolizism (sp)
any way i love him to pieces :goodvibes and just consider myself very lucky that he has stayed with me despite the way i look. i probabbly weighed 140ish when i met him.
so i guess i have a long hard road ahead of me but i will make it and i am
going to be healthy ...my goal is to get off all meds and to be here to see my
grandchildren grow up and right now my kids are still in high school !!! so i
need to be around for a long time yet.
anyway do any of you have simular problem with your dh?
good luck sticking to your :tread: :strong: :cb: plan and remember
to :eating2: healthy.
talk to you LIGHTER!!!
04-03-2004, 09:46 AM
I had the same problem with my boyfriend of 9 1/2 years. I would be on a diet and he would get mad if I didnt eat  We would be out to dinner and I would eat only a little of my meal and plan on taking the rest home :cofdate: . But he would order dessert for me even if I said no and get pissy if I didnt want to eat it  he was like the devil tempting me with chocolate cake  :hb: . he made it such an issue i gave in and Gained 80 pounds while with him, and when I lost a lot of weight he didnt seem very happy. I think he thought I would leave him. Men are sometimes so dumb..as if being fat would stop me from being able to find another man. Thats what he thinks ;)
04-03-2004, 01:17 PM
I must say I have a similar situation with the dh. We like to go to the movies and if I get thru that without eating junk, then he wants to go to the diner. He loves quantity over quality, (must be the ex-marine in him) loves buffets, Yuck :p and fast food. He actually has an entire stash of crap in our bedroom. Now you must understand, we have 3 sons who have pretty much taken over the house over the years, and my dh and I practically live in our bedroom(as far as down time) So over the yrs dh has had to hide his goodies from the boys(now 26,22,21) At one point he put a dead bolt on the pantry closet. The kids called it "the vault" Needless to say they broke a whole in the now replaced door. So he keeps this stash in our very cluttered room in his area. Chips, cookies, candy, snack cakes, you name it. He also can open a bag of something and make it last 2 wks :dizzy: how is that possible? right? I just don't get it. Anyway I was 155 when we met and married at the ages of 17 and 19 (that was flat stomach in a bikini weight, Im about 5'8" and big boned, though all big girls say that) I am now 286 and it hasn't slowed him down a bit(thank God) my friends actually think he likes me big(safety zone) But he never complains accept for when I don't want to do something because of the way I look. So I understand how you feel. I love him to pieces, he is so loyal and my best friend but at the same time I could just.... :rollpin: As I sit here and type(we both have :comp: in the bedroom) I hear wrappers and he's chomping away. I am on my third cup of :coffee: and haven't eaten yet. Yet this man can skip eating all day if he's busy. uggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh......it's really frustrating  But then I remember how great he is and I'll be shopping for my stuff and bring him goodies .... oh well, what can you do......
BTW anybody ever try the cabbage soup diet. Girls at work are having great success. Using it as a boost to get started. I've got it cooking right now. It's actually ok except for banana's one day on the diet. Not supposed to have bananas on SB. But I need a jump and since my doc shot down medifast I'm gonna give it a try.
04-03-2004, 01:52 PM
Hi donna, I did try the cabbage soup several years ago (I was in high school)
it worked but it's all water loss. But maybe it's what it takes to help you start loosing weight. When you see the scale move, you feel better and you want to do better.
DH hates junk food, but in a sense he's like yours. He can skip a meal if he's busy, he can leave his ice cream in the freezer without touching it, eat only a piece of choc and forget about it until next week.... I can't do that. I know it's there I have to finish it.
Soooo, today I worked out twice for a total of 90 minutes cardio. That's because I'm eating pizza tonight :hun:
I was on SB. Learnt lots of stuff but I can't control my portions so I feel like I do better on WW. Plus I get to eat everything I want.
Have a beautiful Saturday.
04-03-2004, 06:56 PM
Dont yah just love weekends?? I wish I had weekends off but I never do...which I guess from what I am hearing is a good thing...I do find that on my days off I eat just cuz Im bored....but so far so good today...Let me all tell yah a little about my day...
woke up: 8:30 am *I shower at night to sleep later*
Went to Curves: 9:00-9:40 :tread: lost 2 pounds since last Friday according to their scale. :cheer:
Went to work: 10:00-3:15
Walked to Subway: I dont know the time but I had a turkey sub with southwest dressing...yummy!!! I felt good about that and didn't even feel like a :ink: or :moo: :)
Walked the mile home: 4:15 and arrived home at 5 of 5:00 *was so nice out i didn't push myself too much and I did do the gym in the am so I was okay with not pushing...
Sitting on the computer since then...LOL...
But thats about it...I saw someone asking about plans for the weekend...hmmm...I will watch my Trading Spaces tonight from 8-10 and then probably play on the :comp: all night until sleepy time...get a few chapters of my book in *Dorothy Garlock HIGH ON A HILL* call it a night *probably around 2 or 3 am... :) and then wake up and go to work in the morning...thats about it...
For all you people that like books, I recommend any Dorothy Garlock book, Sandra Brown, Nicholas Sparks and John Grisham...I love all of them...so good...if you want suggestions let me know...
Have a great weekend...
04-03-2004, 08:38 PM
Jessica, The only one that I have heard of out of your list was John Grisham. I have read a couple of his but I got the feeling that when he was writing, he had a screenplay in mind and that kind of turned me off to him. But I will keep the others in mind.
Have you ever read Wally Lamb? He is my all time favorite. If you haven't read "I know this much is true" it is a must! It is rather long (900 pgs) but you won't notice. I read it in 3 days while I was laid up after knee surgery. Also, "She's come undone" is by him. The main character is an overweight girl and he deals a lot with food/weight issues. You won't believe a man wrote it!
Right now I am reading "Beach Music" by Pat Conroy. He also wrote "The Prince of Tides" which I did not read but loved the movie. If it's any good I'll let you know.
04-04-2004, 12:28 AM
I just love the book "She's Come Undone" I had read it last year when i was laid up for 4 months with a broken ankle and leg...Just like you said, I could not believe it when I found out that it was a man writing it...maybe he had a daughter or something or relative that he could take ideas from or something...I think it was part of the Oprah Book Club also...I could so relate to that character in the book...I will also check out the other book you had mentioned...I just love to read...Im big on the Harry Potter series too...again i read all of them when i was not able to walk, work, or pretty much do anything but lay in bed...Just love reading and I look forward to hearing more about more books...you have never read Sandra Brown or Dorothy Garlock...hmmmm I would recommend Mother Road by Dorothy Garlock and either Envy or Charade by Sandra Brown are both good...Dorothy Garlock writes mostly about classic eras like the late 1800's early 1900's really good and sandra Brown is a romance/mystery type of deal...if you wind up picking any of them up make sure to let me know what you think...
04-04-2004, 08:58 AM
I love to read but need to find more great authors I like V.C. Andrews have read all the books under that author. I mostly like murder mystery. Dean Kootz is ok hate steven King. I'v found that I like the Bearenstain Bears ha ha  I'm collecting all of the Bearenstain Bear books for my sisters new little one due soon.
How very odd that yesterday I was talking about my X who I have not talked to for over a month and he calls me. He was dealing with the loss of his younger sister I wont go into the details of my life, He took me out to dinner and after ordered strawberry cheesecake Mmmmmmmmmmm oh my.By the way Bostons has the grossest mashed potato I have ever tasted in my life I didnt think anyone could mess up mashed potatos I was so very wrong.
04-05-2004, 09:30 PM
Where is everyone today??
I had a terrible weekend. I pigged out. :ink: :ink: But today I was VERY good. How is everyone doing? Does anyone use a treadmill here? I have been trying to build up my speed but the fastest I can walk is about 3.3. How long did it take you to build up your speed? My problem is my knee. I have a torn ACL and I am protective of it. I have visions of my knee giving out and I go flying off the treadmill. Wouldn't that be a site?
I hope everyone is well and working towards our April goal!!
04-06-2004, 01:46 AM
Hi guys, Its been real quite all around tonight.
Hey Lynn, It's good that you got right back on program today. Weekends can be so frustrating. You do good all week and then the weekends can sabotage all your efforts. I put extra effort into the weekend and was really good, but we really didn't do anything or go anywhere so it was pretty easy. It's when we go out that it's harder. As far as the :tread: I only get on it a couple of times a week, the other days I do my WATP videos, but when I'm on it (it's so much more of a workout) I am only up to 15-20 min at 2.8-3.0 mpg. I asked my son why it's so hard (even when I used to walk 45min in the mornign(outside) I didn't work up half the sweat or pain that 15 min on the :tread: causes. He said that's because it's such a continuous steady pace. You don't realize when your just walking or doing a video, there isn't that machine making you stay at the continuous pace, there are variations (he's a personal trainer :strong: with a fat mom :sumo: .... the irony  ) So it sounds to me like your doing pretty good. :cp: )
Alexia, I get so into books I want to do nothing else. I use every extra minute to squeeze in 1more chapter. So lately I've been sticking to the puzzles in the Daily News. (Though I just finished a James Patterson novel, couldn't resist) And now after reading the posts, I've got the bug to pick up another. Well, I might not be getting my work down around the house when I read, but it works like the :comp: and I don't eat. Anyway, I found if you leave the housework waiting, it doesn't get pissed and leave, it waits around  Now I think I must go look for this Wally Lamb book. ;)
I've been being good for the last few days. Doing a sort of Cabbage soup diet but going very heavy on the fruits and vegies. Found out there are lots of vegies I really like. As a kid I hated vegies. I started eating them when I was pregnant out of guilt. But I have been eating asparagus, and someone on a board somewhere had a quick recipe for butternut squash which I never ate before. Well I tried it tonight(never ate butternut squash so I bought a very small one) it was great. Cut up into small cubes, spray with pam and sprinkle with cinnamon and equal (or brown sugar sweetner would be better, I don't have any) and bake it til almost crispy. Like a cross between sweet potato and pumpkin. It was like having dessert and I was eating a vegie. That's thumbs up for me.
Well, I hope everyone has a great day today. I haven't got on the scale. I am becoming quite the chicken. I'm afraid if I do and I don't like what I see I fall face first into something completely indulgent. But I have to eventually, maybe in the morning. Nite all. :D
04-06-2004, 09:35 PM
:( I'm sick with a cold ahh what a pain in the ***.
DonnaD~ butternut squash is so good loaded with butter and brown sugar, but that would make it to sinful to eat ;)
Lynn~ It's always hard not to have a big :ink: out over the weekend but it's good you got ahold of it so you dont take it into the week. I don't have a treadmill, but I have used my sisters and I never got higher than the first two speeds I'm lazy.
I was going to type a nice long one today but I'm feeling sick so I will talk to you all later :?: I hope there will be some post while I'm gone
04-06-2004, 11:25 PM
Alexia, feel better soon. I hate being sick!
Donna, That's cool that your son is a personal trainer. You can get free exercise advice! It makes sense what he said about how you are at a steady pace on the treadmill. I know if I am out for a casual walk I'm not steady about it. I think I have to stop trying to compare myself with the person next to me. And maybe it;s not so bad to avoid the scale foe a while. You can use how your clothes fit to see how you are doing. I should practice what I preach.
And yes, get either one of the Wally Lamb books (if I were you I would get both) Amazon has used ones for real cheap! I will give you my money back guarantee if you do not like them!
Someone made asparagus like this for me once YUM.
In a baggie put a little olive oil with lemon juice and a little salt. MArinate for about 5-10 minutes. Then throw on the grill for a few minutes. It tastes awesome. I wish I had a grill!!!
04-08-2004, 08:56 AM
well here it is weigh in day again :) think i did ok ill let you know after tonights t.o.p.s. meeting. didnt get to walk as much as i wanted to i let my dh talk me into going to new york with him (semi) and we are having company for 4 days this weekend so i been cleaning like crazy :dizzy: i know excuses excuses excuses. so wish me luck on sticking to plan with guest here, i know it will be harder but gotta do this.
have you gotten a chance to go to a t.o.p.s. meeting yet?
hope everyone is doing ok this week and stick with it.
Talk to you LIGHTER!!!
04-08-2004, 06:51 PM
Oh boy~ Still sick :( I was in bed all day, took me until now to even feel well enough to get up.
I bought a cross country sking type of machine ~What a workout you get on that thing plus the workout I had just getting the damn thing in the house ha ha
Wow easter is almost here I hope you all are doing well on your diets don't nibble to many Chocolate rabbit ears. ;)
04-08-2004, 10:14 PM
How is everyone doing? Well, we have a long weekend coming up. You all know how I get when the weekends arrive. I will try to be strong!
How is everyone doing with their goals? I'm still doing the Slimfast thing. And I have been at the gym twice this week and and plan to go Fri & Sat. I am going to my fathers for dinner on Sunday. I will be very careful. My stepmother is an awesome cook!! On Christmas eve she made a pork roast that MELTED in your mouth. So my game plan is to have a bit of meat and lots of veggies. No chocolate bunnies for me!
Donna, did you make it to the TOPS meeting? Let us know how it went ok?
Alexia, hope you are feeling better by the weekend.
Peg, would you like to come clean my house? It pays well.
Have a great (long) weekend everyone!
04-09-2004, 12:21 AM
Lynn, that's great that the slimfast is working for you. Those chocolate bunnies are hard to avoid. Good luck. But you can do it. Just think back to all the shakes and work outs. It's not worth it.
Hey Peg, I just went to the TOPS meeting last night. It was so funny. It was like a senior citizen meeting. Not that there is anything wrong with that. But it was a small group. There were 8 there last night. 2 were out sick. I'd say the average age is about 70. Now I'm by no means a kid but I felt like one last night. Everyone was very nice and welcoming. And I didn't join but I think I might feel guilty if I don't because they were so nice, but it took an hour and 1/2 and about 20 minutes of that was meeting time and reading previous meeting reports and minutes and I just don't know if it would be worth it for me. Again, they were very sweet but I'm not sure. I expected more of a mix. They also ask for volunteers to lead and perform each weeks meeting. With only 8 people that's quite a few meetings a yr. I really just don't know. What is your location like .
Alexia, I tried one of those nordic trak trainers once. It was hysterical. I could barely stay up right. They are quite a work out. Make sure you wait until your feeling better before jumping into a workout. So I hope you feel better soon!
Well, we should have a quite Easter sunday. I don't have any family close by. But that's ok. Work on monday. So I don't miss the comotion on the holidays anymore. Had plenty of yrs of it.
Well enjoy Good Friday all. We have early dismissal at work. Woo hoo!
04-09-2004, 01:18 AM
hi i just go home from t.o.p.s. and grocery shopping. i did manage to lose another 1 3/4 lbs (YEAH) our group is new just started 3-11-04 and we are all in our 30 to 40 something range plus my 17 year old daughter. one other members daughter is thinking about joining. right now there are 6 of us and in five weeks we have lost a total of 34 3/4 lbs. I guess it is a little different because we are all new at this but we are having a real good time and are doing a great job.
maybe there is another group a little farther but more your age group. dont know till you check it out. good luck
SORRY...but ive done enough cleaning to last me for a while dont think you could pay me enough ..lol
Talk to you LIGHTER!!!
04-10-2004, 11:02 PM
Hi everyone! Looks like there may be a slow fizzle on this board over the weekend due to the holiday. I'm still sick :( and it really sucks!! I have a family dinner on Easter and I will be feeling like ****. I can't wait until this cold is gone so I can feel normal again or as normal as I get ;)
I want to get back to my spring clean out. Now thats a good work out, last week I had 10 bags of goodies for charity. I really love that show clean sweep on HGTV it gets me in the mood to clean. I'm a HGTV nut :dizzy:
04-11-2004, 03:42 AM
Well, I haven't gone to bed yet so I can wish everyone a HAPPY EASTER!
Alexia, I can't believe you still feel like crap :( I wish I could get in the mood to clean more. After work I can barely get thru dinner & on the weekends there is too much to do. Anyway I hope you feel better soon. (I like clean sweep too, I'd rather they showed up then "trading spaces" or "while you were out" I have way to much clutter. )
Talk to you all after the weekend. :D
04-12-2004, 12:20 AM
Happy Easter to all:
I hope your holiday was fun and exciting and you all didn't eat too much...I know I did...that was just too damn good...I couldn't resist...but there was no dessert involved so i dont feel that bad...
I am such a TLC junkie...trading spaces, what not to wear, for better or for worse, while you were out..all of them...I can't wait to see who wins the Home Free competetion...
Just a quick hi to let you know im still alive...
04-12-2004, 07:04 PM
How is everyone??
Well, I did pretty good over this long weekend! My only "bad" thing was that I did have dessert yesterday and it was good too! Anyway, back to reality.
I don't watch any of those house shows but you all seem to love them so maybe I should check them out.
Well, I am off to the gym :tread: :tread: write more later.
04-12-2004, 11:50 PM
Hope everyone had a happy. My dh ended up really sick. We were supposed to go out for Easter dinner and ended up staying home and ordering chinese takeout. I immediately took half of the my dinner and packed it in a container for todays lunch. The good side of all this is I got on the scale this morning down 3lbs! Happy Easter to me!
Jessica, I have missed 2 wks in a row of TLC weekends. I don't usually watch the evening shows(which are the new ones) but I try to watch sat afternoons. But now the weekends start to get busy.
How are you feeling Alexia? This thing has really walloped you. Hope you are feeling better.
Peg & Lynn. I contacted the regional person at TOPS for my area and she emailed me today. There is one about 45 mins away that she thinks is a better mix of people. I will try to check it out wed nite. (coincedentaly the same nite as the other location which is good for me.) Being so far away I might not go every week, if I join.
Well I hope everyone has good day tomorrow. ttyl :D
04-13-2004, 01:24 AM
Oh boy...do I feel like I've hit a plateau...I haven't lost anything in the past two weeks :( what is even worse, is that I gained 1.5 pounds. :sumo: yah thats what I feel like...I am so ashamed of myself right now...I want to lose weight so that I can go on hikes, camping trips, and even ride the roller coasters with my boyfriend this summer, but I'm not seeing myself doing that...Its so depressing to me...and what do I do...I go right for the bad stuff in my life *chocolate, chips, sodas* and all though at the time it makes me feel really really good afterwards I just feel like a total :moo: and its sickening to me...It really is...I've gotta get some self control...Im going to Curves regularly and usually drinking nothing but water and well its my eating that has gotten out of hand...i was doing so good and now, im back to my old ways...hording chocolate and candy and thinking "oh this one cookie wont harm me" grrrrr...I get so mad at myself... :rollpin: :rollpin: I need to start cracking the whip...I guess I just need to know that I can do it but I dont see that happening...
I need someone to be my :drill: and tell me :nono: and make me get on that :tread: and work my tail off...I've gotta say no to :burger: :chicken: and :mcd: *all though I prefer burger king* and stay with my good stuff like my water and salads with LITE dressing...
Sorry for the babbling...just having a bad day...I'll try to be better...
04-13-2004, 01:40 AM
Still Sick but getting better each day :)
My fave. show is clean sweep I can relate I have alot of stuff  I'm a little sick of while you were out all they seem to show is reruns. trading spaces used to be my fave but some of the designs they do are really bad. hildi is not a designer she is just plain nuts :dizzy: and doug is anal.
I'm glad I'm getting better now so I can get back to working on my weight.
04-13-2004, 07:43 PM
Hi everyone
Donna, :bravo: on the 3 lbs!!! That is great news! Wooo Hoo!
Jessica, don't get too down on yourself. I think ALL of us have been in those shoes at one time or another. I know I have. You just have to start over and don't dwell on your slip up. Give those cookies to someone at work or just throw them out. Tomorrow is a new day and you get to have a "do over" Believe me, there are days when I think this is too hard that I should just eat what I want & be happy BUT....of course we both know that you can't really be happy eating junk and feeling crappy. I am probably not the best person to give advice on this (Lord knows I still need a lot of work) but we need you to snap out of your funk and get back on track. :drill:
Now, can someone yell at me and tell me to stay off the GD scale!!! I am obsessive about it and I know it's not doing me any good. I wish the thing would break so I wouldn't have a choice. It's ok if I have lost a pound but if it goes up or plateaus then I really bum myself out. Thank you in advance :D
04-13-2004, 09:58 PM
You only gained 1.5 pounds thats nothing! Just stop :nono: feeling bad about it and get right back at it. If you don't that 1.5 will turn into 5 before you know it thats what always happens to me. You really have come a long way sense your start weight don't give up. When I was at your weight before I gained so much I used to go hiking, mountain biking, camping, swimming it's not the weight that keeps you from doing those things it's how you feel about yourself. I know when I feel like a fat *** I don't want to do anything or go anywhere. Try not to limit yourself so much if you started hiking you may feel like your going to die at first ;) but you get used to it and gain energy. Last summer I went hiking with my cousin for over 1 hour and I weighed over 260. You have to remember how damn good it felt to lose the weight so much better than eatting cookies and crap. Now I will try to take my own advice. It really it so @#@!*&# hard
Sorry for any bad spelling :D
04-15-2004, 09:56 PM
Sure is quiet here today. Where is everyone?
I hope everyone is well. I am still sticking to Slimfast but I seem to have hit a plateau already! Very frustrating. I figure I am around 1200 - 1500 calories a day and i still go to the gym 3-4 times per week. This is hard. But I do dream of the day that I go shopping for a size 10 pair of jeans, that I see someone from high school that say "damn, Lynn, you look great!" and that I can STOP dreaming of Mr. Right because I finally found him. ;)
Well, I can dream right??
04-16-2004, 12:16 AM
It has been a busy week for me and it looks like for others also this room is dead. I'm sure over the weekend it will stay the same. You hit another plateau? You prob. are gaining muscle you seem to be doing very well just stay away from the icecream :p This whole weight loss thing SUCKS
04-16-2004, 10:27 PM
Oh wow, I haven't had ice cream in a long time (it seems that way)! I think my favorite is friendly's vanilla with fudge swirl. Thank you for the encouragement. I guess I am getting impatient. You know how it is...everyone wants instant results. nope, not this time. I did see a slightly lower number this morning on the scale, so I was pretty happy about that.
So how is everone doing with this months challange? I can't wait to hear everyone's good news!! :)
We finally had some sunshine today!! And they said by Monday it could be in the low 80's!! finally!
Well, everyine have a great weekend. On Sunday i am going to a seafood place (right on the ocean) for lunch with a friend. We have already decided that we'll split an entree and we'll each have a shrimp cocktail. I cannot wait!!
04-17-2004, 10:17 AM
well i dont know how ...but i did manage to go down 1 more pound. :) after easter dinner and all!!! well now it is time to get back on track and really get going with this. my daughter bought a tae-bo tape :cb: :jig: :cp: and we tried it out last night. it lasts about 45 min but we only lasted 1/2 hr. :?: sure need to be a lot more cordenated (sp) than we are. when we wern't laughing to hard at each other :joker:  we did get a good workout. how is everyone else doing??
Talk to you LIGHTER!!!
04-18-2004, 12:44 PM
Well I typed out a really long post yesterday but Poof, it was gone. So here I am today trying again.
Peg, I have the Tae-bo tapes hidden somewhere. Actually, one is at a friends house. I used to go after work and we never got past the introduction tape. Laughed alot, sweated alot, must of done some good. I am trying to do differnet types of exercise now so I have more options. Maybe I should try that again.
Lynn, I am actually doing this challenge which if I recall( I'll look back in the posts)end 4/30? but I'm also doing a WW challenge thru 6/6. I think I'm doing ok though. I kind of lost track. This thread was getting so slow. I hope everyone is doing well.
04-18-2004, 07:13 PM
Donna, I thought we lost you!!! Glad to hear you are doing good. And yes, our challange was for the month of April. I have to say, I have been doing good myself. Even made thru Aunt Flo's visit without any slip ups. And you are right, it's getting quiet in here. Yoo Hoo, where is everyone??
Well, today i went for my seafood lunch. Had a cute waiter named Chris (way too young for me though  ) But for lunch we each had a shrimp cocktail, and we split a twin lobster roll platter. It was DELISH!!! They didn't even use mayo so it was hunks of lobster with tiny shrimp on a toasted roll. Very yummy.
Well, I hope everyone is doing well. I am fairly certain that I will make my goal this month which makes me so happy I cannot even put it into words.
04-19-2004, 03:29 AM
:D Hi everyone! whoever is left in here  If we have lost some of our group we will just have to get some new members. I'm going to be here awhile and I'm sure I will see alot of people come and go, it's a long hard battle :goodscale
I'm staying away from the scale for the week.. our group goal is almost here :stress: I'm a little stressed. 2 WEEKS left WOW it really flys by.
The weather has been very nice here I can't wait until it's warmer so I can go to the lake. I have been shopping alot I can't stay away from buying clothing no matter what size I am. I think if I was thin I would spend my whole day at the clothing store I know I was trying on clothing for a few hours the other day. I bought 6 new shirts and some jewelry and hair accessories. My feet were killing me :(
I have been spring cleaning also. I have so many things I find it overwhelming I hate the feeling like you just can't toss things out and it stresses me out. :dizzy:
04-19-2004, 10:36 PM
How is everyone tonight? Good I hope.
Alexia, it's funny, I love clothes also but I have been holding back. I really want my next shopping excursion to be for a smaller size. I want to say "Geez, these jeans are just way too big for me - I cannot wear them any longer". You can call it one of my personal goals. I have a feeling it may be a while though. I do have quite a bit of clothes but a lot of them have elastic (or partial ) in the waist so I can probably wear most of them even while losing. That's ok though....I'll be saving up my $$$ for the big day. :D
Tonight I did 60 min on the treadmill!! Woo hoo! Longest time for me ever. It wasn't too bad. What I do is walk at my regular pace then for 1 minute (or as long as I can stand it) then I will up the MPH a bit. Then I go back to my regular then switch off every 5 minutes or so. I feel like I have accomplished more when I do it that way. Is everyone getting their exercise?
Jessica, do you still go to Curves? How is it going for you?
Donna, how was that Tae Bo tape? I remember seeing it on TV but it looked real hard. Besides, I'm not all that coordinated. I would probably fall in a heap after 5 minutes.
04-20-2004, 09:27 PM
i just read some things in a mag. that i thought i would share.
10 WAYS TO STICK TO A PLAN
1.MAKE A GROCERY LIST AND STICK TO IT.
2.DON'T SHOP FOR GROCERIES ON AN EMPTY STOMACH.
3.TAKE A FEW LAPS AROUND THE SUPERMARKET BEFORE SHOPPING.
4.HAVE A LITE SNACK BEFORE DINING OUT.
6.TO ELIMINATE LATE NIGHT SNACKING,FREEZE LEFTOVERS IMMEDIATLY.
7.DON'T ALLOW FOOD IN FRONT OF THE TV. EAT ONLY IN KITCHEN OR DINING ROOM.
8.STORE HIGH CALORIE FOODS OUT OF SIGHT.
9.DRINK EIGHT GLASSES OF WATER A DAY.
10.WALK AROUND THE HOUSE WHILE ON THE PHONE.
04-20-2004, 11:12 PM
04-21-2004, 03:30 AM
Freeze left overs now thats a great idea who would want to go though the trouble of defrosting, and I don't think a pizzacicle would taste that great. :chin: But then I'd just turn to a dessert I know I know I should not even have desserts in the house, but If I don't get a little sugar once in awhile I really get pissed off  I get so crabby.
04-22-2004, 01:15 AM
Hi everyone, I haven't been around in a couple of days and this is just a quick stop in, it's late and I'm just unwinding before going to bed. Sometimes the most depressing part of making healthy life choices is fighting the time battle. I've been doing really well with the weight but it takes so much time and energy I'm exhausted. Started the 4/1 challenge at 286 and weighed in today at 278. So if I made the my 7lb goal already. But I gotta tell ya the schedule can be grueling some days. Now I hoping to be asleep by 12:30am, up at 5:45 am to exercise, either walking, WATP video(up to the 3ml--woo hoo) shower and on the road by 8:05. leave work at 5:00 and either gym or to the park for 45 min walk. By the time I walk thru the door at 6:30 pm I say Hi to the dh. look thru the mail(bills, bills, bills.... :stress: ) then cook dinner, clean up, watch some tv, some nights like tonight, pay bills, fall asleep watching tv, get up pack lunch and work out clothes for the next day and go to bed and start over. (not to forget pills in the morning), pills at night...my mind is tired trying to pull it off. And cleaning the house is like the last thing on my mind, if I can fit it in on the weekend, thats when it gets done. Living with all guys doesn't help that situation. I've had this lousy cold, allergy, yuck sickness thing all week and the dh just quit smoking and sleeps to get thru the cravings. Sorry to whine. I'm just having some trouble adjusting to this new way of life. I hoping it becomes routine and I can adjust. Now I just feel overwhelmed. :dizzy: I'm hoping it's all such a habit by the fall, that I can keep it up during the dark winter months when I usually do soooo badly and gain soooo much. Well, thanks for listening to me whine. I really needed to let this out and have no one else to let it out on. I should just start a journal and not burden everyone here with my complaining but it seems to help when someones on the other end. Aaaahhhh, I do feel a little better. Well I hope everyone else is doing well. Have a great thursday. Hopefully will have time to check in tomorrow. Better get a little sleep. 5:45 comes around quickly.
04-22-2004, 07:42 PM
Donna, we don't mind at all. That's why we are here!! If I were you though I would need more sleep. I need at least 7 hours to function normally. I do have one thought though (if you don't mind) you said earlier that your sons live with you - why can't they pitch in around the house? Even if they could just do the dishes or something like that? Anything to help you out. But you are down 8 pounds which is AWESOME!! :bravo:
I am so happy to hear that! Also when hubby gets past the worst of it he can help out a bit too. You'll just have to tell the men in your house that now that you are devoting so many hours per week to exercising and taking care of yourself that they will all have to chip in a bit more and thats the way it has to be. I know, easier said than done but when they see you are serious they will have no choice. And if you are feeling too overwhelmed then maybe you can play around with your schedule a bit, I'm thinking maybe something like taking one day off a week from exercising so you have a "free" weeknight to catch up on things around the house like bills etc. Then on the weekend, make up for that day you took off by taking an extra walk or adding a 1/2 hour to your workout. You sound like you are doing really well, but you don't want it to get in the way of the rest of your life. I hope what I'm trying to say makes sense.
How is everyone else doing? We have only nine days left of this months challange! It really does fly! I am down about 5 lbs. and I am hoping for about 2 more by month's end. Of course, I will update you on 4/30.
04-22-2004, 09:34 PM
Donna I'm exhausted just reading your last post. You need to slow down.. Like Lynn said get those men of yours to help out a bit. You are doing so good don't burn yourself out. You both are doing great It makes me want to stick with it even when the scale is stuck. I feel on track again its weird how that happens. You know how you have to be in the right frame of mind for losing weight, Well I wasnt there for awhile but now I finally got there. It dose help having this mes.board to vent so whine away its fine with me.
04-22-2004, 10:53 PM
Lynn, your suggestions are great, and no I don't mind a bit. There aren't many women in my life besides casual friends at work and a few close friends that I don't even talk as much anymore. Everyone is so busy these days. But your right. I do have to get these guys to pitch in more. But I am guilty of doing too much for them. Or at times I'm too tired to listen to the excuses and just do it myself. But they aren't boys anymore. They are men sharing MY HOUSE with me and I do think they should pull their weight. Thanks for the inspiration. Now lets see if I can turn all this bark into bite!
That's great about the 5lbs, seems we're doing better this challenge. And even if we don't make the lbs loss hoped for, the changes we are making is for the better and thats definitely a challenge conquered.
Alexia, I know what you mean. Frame of mind is everything. That's why I do so poorly in the winter months, it's dark and depressing. Just the longer days give me more energy. But I dwell too much on things. I look too far ahead. I'm already thinking of how the fall will come and I won't be able to keep up this pace. What the **** is wrong with me? why can't I just take it a day or even a week or a month at a time? I always look at everything eternally. I really am working on that. I'm in body and mind overhaul. That's why I going to take the advice given and get control of things around here. I think feeling taken advantage of, hasn't helped my state of mind. I'm so glad you feeling back on trak. That should be just what it takes to move that scale. Good luck, I know you'll do it. :crossed:
Well I hope everyone else is doing well also. TGIF. I get to buy lunch on fridays. I stick to good choices. I just love that I don't have to pack lunch tonight. I am going to watch ER, then clean up the kitchen and the hopefully bed by 11:30 tonight. That will get me over 6 hrs. That's doable for me. Today I did the 3ml WATP in the morning and a 45 min walk after work. But I'm not tired yet. But I 'm sure by 11:30 it will hit.
Talk to you all tomorrow. Have a great day :D
04-23-2004, 07:30 PM
They are men sharing MY HOUSE with me and I do think they should pull their weight.
That's the spirit!! :cheer: Get their butts in gear !!
Now, we need you to stop dwelling on the future and just think about right now. Just think how all summer you will be able to practice for those fall/winter months. By then it will just be a normal routine for you. You won't even think twice about it. You'll just do it. I do know what you mean though. Especially around here where it gets so cold. But we will cross that bridge when we get to it. I just want to enjoy the warmer weather. Except for today, it is about 40 out and drizzling. :(
everyone have a great weekend. I will be busy at work but if I have some time I will post. Take care.
04-23-2004, 09:34 PM
i had weigh in last night and am down 1 more pound. i guess slow and steady wins the race. i must start more exercise or something or i am going to get discouraged...... well at least i am still going in the right direction!!
Talk to you LIGHTER!!!
04-24-2004, 12:36 AM
Well how is everybody. Just getting my friday post in before friday is over.
Let myself get a little extra needed sleep this morning, so I didn't do the morning exercise. But I did go to the gym this afternoon. It's hard but I'm starting to like it. (I can't believe I said that :p )
Peg, I can't believe I'm the one stating this, and a pound lost is a pound less and that's great, but the exercise really does help. I started slow and was amazed by the second week I was able to increase quite a bit. Don't get me wrong, at 278 I feel like a :sumo: at the gym. But I've got to do it. Dropped a bad habit :smoking: pick up a good one :strong: We can all try that.
Ok time to get off my :soap: I am no one to preach. If I'm still going at it in the fall( I should say when I'm still going at in the fall :strong: ) then I can preach. Right now I'm just a beginner. But we all have to start somewhere.
Well, I hope everyone has a great weekend. Lynn, don't work to hard. Hope we here from you this weekend.
good night all! :faint:
04-26-2004, 07:25 PM
Now that I got back on track I'm down 3 pounds. Now to keep it going. I'm staying away from the scale for a few days just seeing the numbers makes it hard knowing how much I have to lose. :o \
04-26-2004, 10:06 PM
I couldn't post all weekend. I missed you guys.
Donna, when did you join a gym? Recently or were you already a member? I joined in Feb. I can't say I love it but I don't hate it either.
Well, I seem to be doing better on the weekends. My cravings for bad foods seem to be diminishing (did I just say that? ) Knock on wood.
Peg, way to go on the loss. I don't care if it's 1 or 10 pounds that's great.
Alexia, :cheer: on your loss also! Hey, we're becoming a bunch of LOSERS :lol3: Yay us!!
I have to say, I think I am finally getting the hang of this. This is the longest that I have ever stuck with anything pertaining to weight loss. I have to thank this site and you guys too. It really does help knowing that I am not alone and that I will be checking in with you guys. SO.... :thanks: :thanks:
04-27-2004, 12:59 AM
Hi everyone. I didn't have access all weekend either. Saturday morning I was in and the next thing I knew, I was out. Boy did I miss guys. :( I knew I was hooked on this board.
Alexis, so glad your back on track. 3lbs, way to go. That's great to stay away from the scale. I have trouble skipping a day, even though I know it's better to. Looks like we are all doing better this challenge.
Hi Lynn, I joined Lucille Roberts(womens gym) last fall before the anemia hit hard and they started testing me like a lab :jig: Thats when I stopped walking and exercising and gained back the 30 I'd lost. So its a two yr membership so I figured I should get my butt back there. They have a circle of machines, similar to "curves" and treadmills and a lot of aerobic, step classes and such. I there for the weights. I do my WATP video(3ml) or walk 45 min in the morning and then the gym 3 days for weights and I walk with a friend from work 2 days a week after work at a nature reserve. The weekends I usually walk and the last 2 weekends, work around the yard. I'm not crazy about the gym. The classes are overcrowded which is why I go for the weights and I joined during a special so it averaged out to about $15 a month, so the price was right.
Is everyone just watching what they eat or on a specific program. I've just really cut back. Sort of WW but not really tracking all the points. I think its the activity thats working.
Well 5:45 am is around the corner. Good nite all. Have a great thursday. :D
04-28-2004, 05:18 AM
Lynn, I know what you mean when I'm on this site I stick with my diet longer just knowing you have other people who are doing it right alone with you really helps. :grouphug: When I diet on my own it never lasts long. :(
I'm glad we all seem to be on track now I took a little longer :o But now I'm with you all  I can't keep fighting it I must lose weight  I work at home so I don't get enough exercise. I'm working on that now I need more energy.
WOW it's almost the end of another month it really flys by
04-29-2004, 09:17 PM
How is everyone doing? I know its been like ages since I have been up on these boards but I got frustrated and didnt want anything to do with dieting or anything talking, writing, hearing, or reading about it...I kind of shut myself down...:( :( I would just like to let yah all know that i am still here and boy did it take me forever to catch up on all the stuff written here...i
Its almost time to reveal our April goal...and which means its almost Chris's (my bf) and Alexia's birthdays, which happen to be on the same day...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALEXIA :gift:
since I have to work and will be busy afterwards tomorrow I will post my results now...and i am sad to say that I didn't make the group goal of 6 pounds...I started at 257.5 and i am now down to 252...DARN I MISSED BY .5 of a pound...LOL...still did good...i feel great today...got weighed and measured at Curves today *I just love that place and I am just so happy I decided to join...* and for the month since i started I have lost 7 pounds and 6.5 inches...I was totally surprised when I saw that...grateful no doubt though...:cb: :cb:

5 POUND LOSS FOR MAY 31st
04-30-2004, 08:46 PM
Happy Birthday Alexia..... :balloons: :hb: and everyone especially the birthday girl should be allowed to have a piece of :hb: on their birthday.
Congrats on the 6lbs. I did make it thru this challenge and would like to move onto a may challenge. I'm currently in one that brings me into june but I will still go for the 5 in May. I am supposed to be down 12 by I think june 6 and it started a couple of weeks ago and need to lose 9 more by june 6, that's gonna be tough, but I'm going to try.
How's everyone doing? I hope well. Have a great friday night and a wonderful weekend.
05-01-2004, 10:55 AM
Good morning everyone,
Alexia, Happy belated Birthday to you! :gift: I hope it was a good one.
OK, here we go....I am down another 5 pounds. Woo Hoo
I will write more later. Have a good weekend everyone!
05-01-2004, 08:58 PM
Hi everybody. Happy May! boy April just flew right by.
Lynn, Congrat's. Another 5lbs. You are doing fabulous. :cp: You must feel great. :D I forgot what program if any your doing. Are you exercising alot. Whatever your doing, it's working so keep it up.
Alexia, I hope you enjoyed the rest of your birthday. :gift:
Hey Jessica, You still did great. 5.5lbs is still a great loss. Glad your back and on track. :high:
Well, I'm beat. We've been working in the yard all day. I'm waiting in line to get in the shower. I feel buggy and sweaty, yuck! But at the same time I feel good. :cb: I made our challenge. Lost 9lbs. Woo hoo! But it's just a drop in the bucket. Have a long way to go. But with each challenge a little closer.
Hope everyone is enjoying there weekend. ttyl
05-02-2004, 10:16 AM
:D Thanks DonnaD & Lynn, I had a very nice birthday. I had a very small piece of cake :hb: and didn't eat like a pig :ink: . After I got home I looked at the pictures of me and I was shocked  , I'm fatter looking than I thought! :dz: oh my. A pic of me sitting by my skinny cousin and sister proved that. :sumo: I look so much bigger it was pretty bad. That right there was the moment I knew I'm really going to give it my all this challenge :drill:, and take picture of me along the whole way of all my small challenges so I can see the changes. I gave away almost all of the cake after the party so only a small amount is sitting in my kitchen. And I'm not wanting to eat cake for the first time in my life.
When I got up today I weighed in at a 9 pound lost :goodscale . It's better to weigh yourself in the morning and before you have your breakfast. So I start off my May 31st challenge at 291 So here we :grouphug: go!
300/291/Mini Goal 260
9 Pounds Lost
05-02-2004, 02:37 PM
Alexia, so glad you enjoyed your birthday. Pictures are hard for me too. When I was at my all time high over the winter, I wore a blue top to work and when I got there, 2 other woman and the Vice President of the bank were wearing the same color. The VP says "Hey we should take a picture" I wanted to crawl into a hole. Well I thought I was saved when nobody had a camera until my friend (thin friend) stated she had a picture phone. So a picture with my VP (who has a belly but a man, no big deal) and my 2 thin friends and me :sumo: is now the screen saver on the VP's :comp: aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh! But anyway, 9lbs is awesome. Once you put your mind to something you really stay focused. And your really exercising the willpower. That's just great. Here's to a great may challenge
Well, I hope everyone has been enjoying their weekend. ttyl :D
05-03-2004, 10:26 AM
It's almost 6:30am and I can tell it's going to be a beautiful day. I have a lot of stuff to do but thats later in the day so I'm just sitting around wondering what I should do with my day :?:
05-03-2004, 07:33 PM
Alexia, what? No work today?? If not, why in the world are you up at 6:30?? LOL I enjoy sleeping in on my days off if my dog will let me :p
And i totally know what you guys mean about looking at pictures of youself. I have been jolted back to reality a couple of times that way. I would start to think that I looked ok and that I was hiding my weight pretty well then BAM! Or how about when trying on clothes in those unforgiving mirrors in dressing rooms, under the bright lights that show every little bulge. AHHH :fr: I have left department stores more than once in utter frustration which always lead to a couple of pretty dark days with me feeling sorry for myself.
Anyway, I am starving right now. AF is coming, and thank God, I don't feel this way every time, but once in a while I just get so hungry I could eat a horse. Thank God I don't keep much food in the house.
05-04-2004, 03:18 PM
Well, Lynn I don't understand it I may have looked like a pig :ink: in my B'day party pics, but when I was at the store yesterday trying on skirts & tops I looked pretty damn good. Maybe it was because I didnt have any skinny people standing by me? really I dont get it. And to make sure I was not looking into skinny mirrors I put in on at home and I still looked good. I bet if I took a pic of me in it I'd look bad ahhhh damn pics. I bought that slimming dress for a party I'm going to this weekend. I may weigh masses but I'm so happy I'm proportioned
I was happy with myself yesterday when I skiped on the frys & dip while ordering a chicken sandwich for dinner. And thats big for me because besides cake I love frys. **** I love all food, so any skipping is good for me.
05-04-2004, 07:09 PM
Well, i better fess up. I blew it big time yesterday. I won't go into the gory details, but suffice it say I set myself back quite a bit. What a dope I am. Thankfully it's early in the month so I am hoping to rebound.
So what's this party you are going to Alexia?? hmmm??? Seems like all of my friends are now married with small children so there are no more parties for me :( I am the last one that is not married. But I hear at least once a week "do not have kids". LOL
Well, I am off to the gym to try to repair the damage I did. I think I would need to stay for 24 hours straight just to break even
05-04-2004, 10:52 PM
Does anyone here know what OP stands for? I see alot of people using it and I cannot figure it out???
05-05-2004, 10:00 PM
It's a Birthday party for a family member. That only women were invited to.
I don't know what OP stands for. I swear people make up this crap while they type. The one I hate is DH Dear Hubby. "Hubby" yuck I think husband sounds so much better. I always think cubby hubby when I see hubby?? :?: . I don't know who started saying aunt flo, but I just won't go there
Lynn, don't worry about getting off track you can have a pig out once in awhile. I know you'll get right back at it.
I'm going strong I want to make the May 31st goal I set. I have to go to the doctors again in June and I really want to lose some more weight I just hate being weighed.
05-06-2004, 12:48 AM
is op ..on plan??? i dont know does it fit with what they were saying?
05-06-2004, 12:39 PM
Hi everyone  We seem to have lost a few people so I hope to find some more to join us. I don't want our small group to fade out.
I can now say I'm down 10 pounds on to 15
05-06-2004, 06:57 PM
Maybe that is it Peg??? I've seen it said like " I've been eating OP" or something like that. I guess that could be it!
Alexia.....way to go girl! :bravo: :cp:
Now i don't want to jinx myself but a few days ago I really blew my low cal plan. I have not gained 1 pound!! I am holding steady. I thought for sure I was good for a 2 or 3 pound gain. That was 3 days ago. I am so happy! But i will not take it for granted.
So how is everyone else doing? Good I hope. I am back on track and I hope to resume my loss this week! I will keep you all posted.
05-07-2004, 01:00 AM
just a quick note to let everyone that i was down 2 1/4 more ....so now i have hit 1/3 of the way to goal. GO ME!!

Peg, Your under 200 now right? down 27 or more pounds. That is great!
Lynn, That happens to me a lot where I blow it and eat to much and the scale shows no gain, but I take it for granted and eat to much again and really gain the weight. But you know better than to eat like that right away ;) Just drink your water it really helps.
I'm doing fine like I said 10 pounds lost and I plan on getting down that 4 more to make my May 31st challenge. Yesterday I went shopping for a pink purse and a pair of pink sandals for my new dress that is black with pink flowers w/little butterflys. I went to over 8 stores found a perfect pink purse, sunglasses and earrings but no sandals. I walked a lot A LOT. Later today I'm off to the mall I must find the perfect pink sandals.

I'm not that easy to get rid of....
Hi everybody, I haven't been around in a few days. Busy around the house and at work and also went to a major league baseball game.
Sounds like everyone is doing pretty well :cp: I haven't been on the scale in days. thats a first for me. TOM should start around monday, so the last week has been ****. Hopefully I didn't do too much damage. I hate to undo the 9lbs I was down and we all no how easy it goes back on. I am so determined but when pms hits, a different personality shows up. My own personal Sybil. Usually calms down right before I get it. So I feeling a little better today. I've given into cravings but tried to limit the amount.
Wish I could stay longer but I really do need to get outside. Just came to visit and say hi and I thinking about you all. ttyl :D
05-08-2004, 07:44 PM
What game did you go to Donna? I am going to see the Yanks on Saturday vs. Seattle. My 1st game this year. I love going but it makes for such a long day. This year we are driving to a subway stop about 10 min from the stadium so it should be better. Last year we would drive to the train station in New Haven then wait for the subway....it was a lot of waiting.
I totally know about the PMS. Thank God it doesn't get too bad every time. I would never lose. But those months....look out. Not only do I crave sugar but I am sooooo hungry, it's like I never get full.
Peg, you are doing great! :cheer: If I get under 200 I think I will just cry.
Everyone, keep up the great work!!
05-11-2004, 02:54 PM
Everyone hanging in there? :D I am.
05-13-2004, 04:24 PM
Hello everyone...I know it seems like you have lost me around here but rest assured Im always around sometimes just busy with work...The summer months keep me busy busy busy...put in 45 hours last week and only managed to get to CURVES 2 times but its better than none...Im down to 250 pounds, which since i started my diet that puts me at a 20 pound loss which i just love...hehe and i bought a pair of 22 pants which made me even happier to celebrate my success...fear though FLOW is here and im just craving some sweets, was sitting outside with a smirnoff ice in my hand and oh it felt just like liquid gold going down my throat...yummy...
I guess I did forget about the month of MAY...i wonder if there is a reason i did that...maybe im just so anxious to turn 24...I dont know...well I have to get ready for a double date with my sexy man and our pals...mini golfing here we come...and this beautiful weather is perfect for it...have a great day all...
05-13-2004, 05:29 PM
Been busy but still working on my weight loss I'm stuck but not gaining so thats great. I need to start drinking water. I'm off to Ebay so I'll talk to all of you later! bye
05-13-2004, 07:00 PM
jess, I'm glad we didn't lose you. But I guess this board will slow down in the summer - it's to be expected.
So how is everyone doing? I am down two more pounds. I am hoping for a couple more by months end.
Well, that's all for now. I'll check in later.
05-15-2004, 06:28 PM
well i had my first gain since 3/11....only 1/2 pound but a big disapointment. sure dont want to start going in the wrong direction. so i will work at this extra hard this week. Hope everyone is doing ok sticking to plan.
Talk to you LIGHTER!!!
05-15-2004, 11:01 PM

05-16-2004, 12:07 PM
Haven't been around much. Still working on the yard. So much digging and hauling dirt, rock, gravel, EXHAUSTED!. Cost alot and we are doing all the work. Must be nice to have the money to hire help. I'll never know. But there is a satisfaction in knowing you've done a good days work. (now tell that to my aching body :( )
Lynn, We went to a Met game. They were playing SF Giants and boy did everyone give Barry Bonds a hard time. Kept chanting "Steroids"
In July we are going to a Yankee game. I thing they are playing Fla. but not positive. My dh has the tickets. I get them from a company we do business with. Looking forward to it. We never go to games. My dh is not a fan. Finds it really boring. He's a big football fan and as much as I love baseball, there is no comparison to the action in football. But we like to catch a live game everyone so often. It's much more fun with the crowd around you.
Peg, under 200. I think I would cry too. Its been over 20 yrs. That is soooo great. Good for you. You have really lost consistantly. Are you doing Slimfast?
I talk to so many people I get totally confused. I was thinking about picking up some slim fast products. This way, if there is nothing good in the house to eat or if I'm not in the mood to pack lunch, I have a good option. Just a thought. Anyway, Congrats on the breaking the 200 mark :cp:
Well, Flow finally showed up friday. A couple days late, but I did not gain a pound waiting for her to get here. I didn't lose either but thats still an improvement.
Well I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. ttyl :D
05-17-2004, 08:13 PM
I'm also starting a new project in the yard a new patio area I will be doing the work myself putting down brick and all but I'm looking forward to it because I love fixing things up. I see this room is slowing down a lot. I'm not giving up if I have to come in here and talk to myself I will  I'm losing this damn weight!
05-17-2004, 11:35 PM
im having a very very bad month...i dont think that I have lost anything...maybe even gained some...I'll let yah all know around the end of the month...
05-18-2004, 01:03 AM
Hi guys, I'm still around. Sounds like we're all having our ups and downs...literally.
Come on you guys, no giving up. I wasn't here last summer but I here things do slow down on the board in the summer as people are busier and travelling. But the few of us that are here have to stick together. Ready ladies......Let's here it.
This is such a good time of year to lose. Let's take advantage.
Gotta check out for now. It's late. ttyl
05-18-2004, 11:02 PM
Im sick of my life and its time to change...no more rides...its either walking or my bicycle...it can't be lazy anymore...its doing me no good...
05-18-2004, 11:15 PM
Jess, don't give up. You are doing so good! Just look at your numbers! Are you still going to Curves? We all hit plateaus and I believe me, I know they are frustrating but you WILL get past it! And the walking sounds good. Anything to get moving.
One of the girls at work today brought in a pair of pants that she thought I might like. They are a size 18. Well I got them up and buttoned but could not get the darn zipper up! I am thinking of keeping them though to measure my progress. I figure I need to lose 15 or so for them to fit properly. I'll keep you posted. :)
I did lose another two but it seems to be fluctuating a bit :?: I will fight to keep them off.
Well, I don't know about you guys but I check in here alomst every day. I will keep posting though even if it's slow.
Does anyone have any summer vacations planned? I don't. I think most of you are married or have boyfriends. I am single. Not even any prospects right now. See, I love to go on vacation but I have no one to go with. All of my friends are married or have small children so it's tough. SO tell me about your plans so I can ohh & ahh.
Well, that's all for now. Have a great day tomorrow.
05-19-2004, 01:16 AM
hi all, am still alive and kickin. we have a camper that sits on the lake about 50 miles from home. it is there all year and the campground is open april 15 to oct 15 so that is where we go most weekends. go there for vacation too. is just relaxing to go there instead of being home...... problem is too many hambergers and hot dogs on the fire. guess i will try to take a lot of fruit and veggies for me. does anyone have ideas for camping type easy things to fix ( low fat low calorie )
05-19-2004, 04:58 AM
I Love Summer! This summer I will be going to get togethers, having a few parties, hiking, biking, swimming, boating and my dad has a beautiful home on the lake so I will go see him and enjoy all there is to do there.
My hands hurt so much from the digging I'm doing in the backyard where I need to level the ground before I lay the bricks. Hours of removing grass and shoveling dirt now that is a workout. And every time I see a bug I'm grossed out. I hate bugs YUCK *:p It's coming along and by sat. I should be ready to start putting down 1.the tarp 2. sand 3.the bricks.
Damn those oreo McFlurrys I must NOT give in. Ice cream and magic shell calls to me all the time now that summer is here oh what am I to do :?:
Jessica I know its hard but stick with it because it really sucks to gain it back. I should know UP~DOWN~UP~DOWN
I'm thinking about getting a Dr. Phill book what do any of you think of him?
05-20-2004, 06:39 PM
How is everyone doing? I've taken a couple of days off from work so today i went shopping. It has been a long time for me! I wanted to wait to buy some smaller sizes but I really needed a few things to wear to work. I actually bought a pair of size 16 pants!!! I know this is a total fluke. They ran really big but I could not resist (they are real cute!) Also a new purse (my weakness) and a pair of sunglasses. Oh, and shoes too. Also got my hair done so I'm feeling great right now. Just got back from the gym. I'm going to jump in the shower then I'm off to Mohegan Sun for a little blackjack! Wish me luck!
Alexia, my father has a house on a lake also. I grew up there. I do love it but he says we don't take advatange of it enough. Instead of McFlurrys, how about those skinny cow ice creams? They are not too bad. I'm not sure of the calorie count but they are lower than average.
Peg, how about some chicken on that grill? or even fish ( I think you can wrap it in tin foil) I don't know what else to suggest, I haven't been camping since I was in the girl scouts.
05-22-2004, 04:18 PM
Where is everyone? Well, I did not hit it big at the casino but it was fun to just go out and do something. I gotta be careful though, when I take time off from work I tend to spend money. But I needed the clothes and today I went and bought a couple of things for my apartment (badly needed) so I am done spending for a while.
So how is everyone doing with the May challange? I am definitely down a couple more (yay me :D ) but I will wait until 6/1 to post my new numbers. maybe a can lose 1 or 2 more by months end.
Have a good weekend
05-22-2004, 05:10 PM
Never heard of skinny cow ice cream :moo: I will have to look for it  . I'm loving the ice cream to much this week :p . I'm doing fine no gain no loss just in a little rut. It has been rainy here really hard and very stormy so I have to put off my yardwork and putting in the new patio until next weekend. It's ok with me because my arms hurt so bad they needed a rest there is nothing like diging up grass and dirt it is HARD work. I don't know how people can do that for work it would kill me to have to do it everyday. I love clothes shopping but I have not gone for a week or two I have to many things already. I have been buying hinged boxes to add to my crazy collection of well over 125 all displayed in cabinets so they don't look like clutter. I just love those little boxes. If you don't know what they are they are porcelain hinged boxes shapes like things I have a hair dryer, washer, lipstick, stove, iron, ice cream cart, hotdog stand.... Do any of you have collections?
05-22-2004, 09:58 PM
im doing okay...haven't been weighed since last month but we shall see..Im a big collector of anything that has elephants on them...I just love the little things...hehe big things..maybe cuz sometimes i feel like one...who knows...
05-23-2004, 12:34 PM
Sounds like things (time) is moving along. I joined 2 challenges and have trouble keeping up. But I can tell you that I was able to wear a pair of jeans yesterday that I haven't been able to fasten. Unfortunately, I used to call them my fat jeans. How depressing is that. So now I feel like I'm starting from were I was last may. It's like I lost an entire year. Still keeping up the exercise. WATP 3 mile or the :tread: at least 5 mornings a week and then the gym or 45 min walk 3-5 afternoons a week. But I must say out of all the different exercises I do, that :tread: kicks my butt. I'm only up to 1.33 miles and it takes 25 minutes and I sweat bullets, my legs hurt and I continue to sweat for at least 10 minutes after I stop. Even with WATP 3ml or working the weight machine curcuit, that doesn't happen. I guess that's why I've always hated the :tread: I have to hold on most of the time and average 3.3 mph. I don't understand why it's such a workout. Most people could probably do that without breaking a sweat. I guess I should do it alot more.
Peg, Marinated grilled chicken and grilled vegies(peppers, onions, zucchini, portabella's....yum) I don't always have chicken. The portabella's grill wonderfully and take on a type of meat texture. No real reason why you can't have an occasional burger or london broil. Ok, I'm hungry now.
Lynn, I've tried Skinny cow and it's pretty good. What I love is the Klondike bar no sugar added. YUMMY! and it's got chocolate covering too! You have been losing so consistently. I know I've asked before, and if you don't mind too much I'll ask again, what are plan if any are you following? are you consistently exercising? Well, whatever your doing, your doing well! :cp:
Alexia, sounds like you've got a great summer planned. We don't get together with people as much as we used to. It seems like the weekends go so fast and theres always things to do and in between just like to relax.
Well my :coffee: is done. I should get off my butt and figure out what I should do next. ttyl
05-23-2004, 06:44 PM
What I love is the Klondike bar no sugar added. YUMMY!
Oh man! I just wrote this nice long post and I lost it!!
Anyway, Donna, I just finished one of those Klondikes that you spoke of. They do make for a nice treat!
I have been doing Slimfast. usually a bar for breakfast and a shake for dinner. I get my little snacks during the day and I choose to make lunch the main meal. I usually have a tuna salad or a grilled chicken sandwich. Sometimes Chinese. I do go to the gym - I shoot for 3-4 times per week.
I think you are doing good on the treadmill though. I have been at it for a few months now and I am up to 3.4. If I am feeling adventureous I will set the incline (now that will work up a sweat)!!! Yesterday I tried the stationary bikes and only lasted 15 min. My legs felt it!
I think I jinxed myself. I just said that I was done spending money for a while and my car died today!!! I was at the park with my dog and it would not start back up. So we had a nice 1.5 mile walk home. I am hoping it's just the battery.
05-24-2004, 03:21 PM
I dont have a plan I follow I just try to eat better. No fast food, cut the junk food. I know what you mean when you were talking about fitting into your fat pants, I'm just trying to get back down to my odd fatest weight and then when I lose from there I will fell like I'm getting somewhere.
05-27-2004, 09:51 PM
How is everyone doing? I'm excited about the long weekend coming up!! Wooo Hoo!!
Well, I was right about my car, just the battery. It was $80 not bad...could been worse.
Well, another month is almost over. It really goes fast! Sheesh.
Who has plans for the weekend? I am going to a cookout on Sunday and MAYBE going out for seafood lunch on Monday. And since my brother lives fairly close to one of our casinos I may go back there after the cookout to try to win my $100 back   I should probably save my money and go to a movie.
Well, I hope everyone has a great weekend. Don't forget to post your progress on Tuesday. I'll be watching for it. :)
05-28-2004, 07:50 PM
I'm so mad at myself I slept until 3pm Ahhh damn It's like missing the whole day. I went to the doctors yesterday and was weighed I ALWAYS weigh more there I mean how much can a pair of shoes and clothing make you weight that much more. Their scale is like 40 years old and has been used millions of times mine is new and cost alot of money so Mine is right. right? :?:
I had ice cream again yesterday :p Mmmmm cookie dough in a waffle cone.
Today it is cloudy, chilly and going to rain. I'd like to try out the new fireplace outside. I have not gotten the patio bricks down yet because it has been raining, but I have gotten the area smoothed out and ready. The hardest work is over putting the bricks down will be fun!
05-29-2004, 10:28 AM
How's everyone? I had a good week which led up do a bad friday (eating wise) I am such a mental case. I've been working out alot. Been pretty good with the eating. Could have made some better choices but used portion control and no eating between meals except for the damn olives and pickles I cant resist after work. Worked out 9x this week and friday was up 2lbs. My garbage scale, a cheap digital, changes everytime you step on it. sometimes by 3-5 lbs. I hate it. So a friend who noticed I wasn't losing very fast for someone who works out so much, got me depressed(unintentionally) and I fell hard. This time I landed on a pizza. So today I've got to get myself in gear. I'm not going to exercise but I have a lot of cleaning to do. Ick..I'd rather exercise. I am not the happy homemaker. I hate cleaning. Probably because no one else in the house will do it and working full time and exercising 9x a wk, it gets way out of hand. I really should maintain a clean house better so it wouldn't become such a project, but I just don't have that Martha Stewart gene.
Alexia, I think doctor scales are rigged. They love to blame everything on a persons weight.(it keeps you coming back $$$$) I think there is a weight solution out there that doesn't involve the surgery everyone seems to be getting. But weight loss is a billion dollar industry. Why would they want to solve it. The overweight people are cash :moo: (no pun intended with the :moo:  ) ok time for me to get off the :soap:
No big plans this weekend. We did get invited to a BBQ. Not sure if we are going or not. Hope everyone enjoys.
Lynn, the casino's are so much fun. But your right. You should probably just put your money away and go to the movies. You know what they say "the only way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket"
Have fun! ttyl :D
05-29-2004, 09:12 PM
Donna, that doesn't sound right that you gained after working out so much. But they do say that when you start to exercise that you are gaining muscle so that could be it. If it doesn't turn around I would ask the doctor what they think. Don't you have a son that is a personal trainer? Can he shed any light on it? And I know what you mean about cleaning the house. I hate it! Thank God it's only me.
Alexia, 3pm!!! Damn girl, were you out all night?
Well, I have decided to skip the casino and save my $$$ I think I'll go to a movie. They have a place in town that shows artsy/independant movies and this have been my favorite lately. If I see anything good I'll let you all know.
05-30-2004, 05:55 PM
I was not out late I'm always up until about 3am but I like to get up by 11am not 3pm.
It was chilly out last night but I got the fireplace going and was outside untill 11:30 It was nice.
The only time I really like cleaning the house is when I'm getting stuff together to give to charity, I have to much stuff and I love tossing it.
Donna get a new scale yours sounds like crap I'd be so pissed if it changed the weight everytime I step on it, I hope your not going by the weight on your scale.
05-30-2004, 08:38 PM
good news good news!!! when i weighed in on thursday they didnt have to use the 200 pound marker!!! i was 199 1/4 YEAH!! now i will work extra hard so that we never have to use it again. i cant remember the last time i was under 200. what a great feeling... WOW!! it is nice to be able to share our triumphs as well as our downfalls with people who understand 110%. you guys are great.
Talk to you LIGHTER!!!
05-31-2004, 11:16 AM
That is AWESOME!!! You must be so happy. Congratulations.
So how did everyone do this month? I am down another 7 pounds!!! Woo Hoo!!!
Donna, I have to agree with Alexia on this one, I think a new scale may be in order. Or at lease try one at a friends house or the gym and see if is at least close to the one you have at home. You are doing so good with your exercise and I hate hear that you are getting discouraged by your scale. Please keep up the great work you are doing. Trust me, I get really down when I hit these plateaus. For two or three weeks NOTHING. But the needle will eventually move. When I first started exercising I just knew that this fat would melt right off my body but it is slow going. Now, just seeing that I have lost one pound gets me excited and motivated. I even do a little dance (really!!) something like this.... :dancer:
So congraulations everyone!!! For cutting out the junk food, for all the awesome exercising you've been doing (Donna!!), for all the support you've been giving.
06-03-2004, 07:08 PM
Where the heck is everyone?
 :dancer: :flame: :hat:
I'm so lonely here!!!
06-04-2004, 04:11 AM
It's SUMMER! everyones off having Fun! Peg I know just the way you feel I was there once now fight like crazy to stay under that 200 and NEVER hit it again  I'm glad to see everyone doing so good Yeah Lynn! I'm doing ok just stuck still but not gaining. Where is Donna  out having a good time?
06-05-2004, 11:13 AM
Hi everybody, I'm still around. I wasn't feeling very well for a few days. Digestive problem....ugh! Went off one of my stomach meds without the doc knowing. Read online it's not good to take unless absolutely necessary, so I
am trying to see if it's absolutely necessary. Anyway, feeling better. Not much luck with the scale but a friend at work and I are going to buy a scale to keep in her office and chart are weights every monday (to keep us in check over the weekends) and we will fine for gains. We are going to ask a third party(there is a lady at work who used to be a WW counselor) to do the weighing, if not we will just do it ourselves. But hopefully that will help.
Peg, I am soooooooo jealous. I haven't been under 200 in 20 yrs. That's just wonderfull :cp: :cb: Keep up the good work. Your right. Just that number must be motivating in itself.
Hi Lynn, Thanks for the encouraging words. It helps me keep from going into a binge. I keep remembering what you said and I just keep plugging along. I still haven't journalled, but that's part of what my friend and I are hoping to accomplish. We can review each others journal on monday weigh ins. I hope it helps. Your doing really well too. You and Peg are on a roll. Congrats :cp:
Hey Alexia, I wish I was out having fun. But it feels good being back here and reading these posts. Hows the patio installation going? Last I remember the hard part was over and you were ready to lay brick. It will be so nice when your finished and so much more enjoyable knowing you did it yourself.
Well, I hope everyone has a nice weekend. I may pop in again later or tomorrow. I feel like I need a bigger 3fc fix since I've been away a few days.
06-06-2004, 11:43 AM
How is everyone? I did awful on my eating Friday. I caved in & bought a bag of chips. Thing is I felt kind of crappy when I was done. I don't think I'll do that again anytime soon. I actually dropped a few pounds in the 1st few days of June but has fluctuated a bit. Managed to get it back down as of this morning though. Why did I buy those chips??? Grrrrrrrrr.
Donna, I like that idea of paying a fine for a gain! Very clever! My problem is I never tell anyone my weight. (except you guys) And I'm glad you are investing in a new scale! Let me know if the journaling helps. I know a lot of people swear by it. I just try to keep it in my head & watch the calories.
Alexia, you are right. I need to have some FUN. big time. I was sitting home last night thinking "what the heck am I doing"? I really need to get out more.
Well, gotta run, everyone have a good weekend. catch you later
06-06-2004, 01:56 PM
have any of you heard of zig zaging the calories to keep your body guessing and not going into starvation mode? this works and helps with the plateus(spell) anyway you still have the same calories for the week 10500 if you are on 1500 a day plan but you fluxuate the amount each day like ....1500...1200...1800 ....1500...1200...1800...1500..this seems to work for me because i have been on my plan since march 11 and i have had only one gain and it was only 1/2 pound and i have not hit a plateu yet. you might want to try it if you are struggling.
lets all keep up the good work and let me know if i can help in any way.
Talk to you LIGHTER!!!
06-06-2004, 09:08 PM
I have just been in a rut this weekend. I know tomorrow is Monday and weigh in but it seems like I am purposely sabataging(sp?) my efforts. The weather has been dreary and the dh and I have just hung aroung all day eating and watching movies. yesterday we had shopping to do but ate out and lousy choices too. To top it off, I haven't exercised since thursday. I don't know what is wrong with me. I getting that desperate feeling again. I know because I start checking out all the different diet plans for a quick fix that I know doesn't exist. I'm actually looking forward to monday and starting over again. I come here and read about everyone's successes, and believe me, I am so happy for you all, but I just can't understand why I can't get it together. You all count calories and journal and are so together and I feel like I falling apart at the seams. I know I've been doing really well on the exercise, though tomorrow is going to be hard since I missed 3 days in a row, but I'm so confused in what to do with the diet. Low carb, no carb, WW, SB, I've tried them all. I think it all comes down to calories in and calories burned.
Higher calories, less food, lower calories, more food. My mind is so sick of being consumed by all of this. Sorry for the whining but I feel as dreary as the weather. (and bloaty from all the crap I've been eating) It's just such a vicious cycle with me.
Well tomorrow is another day. I will continue to try. Hope alls well. ttyl
06-07-2004, 07:44 PM
Donna, do not beat yourself up!! I know it's hard. I kind of did it this weekend when I ate almost an entire bag of chips!
Out of all of the plans you have tried did you have sucess with any of them? If not, just keep trying combinations until you find what works for you. I know what you mean though about all of the low carb, low fat etc. plans. I don't really pay any attention to that and just try to watch the calories. That combined with common sense choices. Like once in a while I'll go to Burger King and get a chicken sandwich that I like but I skip the fries. Did I cheat? Yup. But I can get away with it by watching my calories for the rest of the day and I don't feel like I'm missing out on something I really like. (I only do that once in a while though.)
Besides with the way you have been exercising like crazy, I don't think one slip up will do much damage. And don't wait too long before exercising again. I have skipped 5 days in a row and I sure felt it the next day. :(
You sounded like you were doing pretty good with the Weight Watchers. Am I right? So, you took a day off. Now, you start right back up. And if next month you take another day off??? No worries, you'll just pick up where you left off. And if WW isn't doing it for you then use what you learned doing that and incorporate it with a new plan. I think some people have to try a few different things until they find what works for them.
And just think, you felt crappy after eating what you ate, that you probably won't do that again for a while! I know I won't be buying any hips for a long time!
