GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE!
Will post my usual morning post sometime later, but wanted to make sure I got our
MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY done early in the morning, so here's my contribution for MM, there's 2 of them to read today-both very good, but I just LOVE the first one! :)
There is someone who controls your every move. There is someone who decides whether you will succeed or fail, whether you will persist or give up.
There is someone who tells you when to get up in the morning, what to eat and what to wear. There is someone who determines what career you'll follow, who your friends will be, and what you'll do with your time.
That person is you. The control you have over your own thoughts and actions can be one of your most valuable assets.
The way you've controlled yourself in the past has brought you to where you are this moment. More importantly, the way you control yourself now, and in the days to come, can take you any place you wish to go.
With all your many commitments, pressures and obligations, it's easy to forget that you're in control of what you think, what you say, what you do. By consciously exercising that control you can surely and steadily move positively forward, no matter what the outside circumstances may be.
Whatever you decide to do, to experience, to become, is within your reach when you point yourself consistently in that direction. Use the control you have to make the very most of the person you are.
-- Ralph Marston

POSITIVE & PRODUCTIVE
Anger is not a good reason to make the situation worse. Frustration is not a good reason to be destructive.
Sure, it's easy to react negatively to a negative situation. But what does that accomplish? Lashing out in anger will hurt everyone involved, including you. That's not what you want.
Instead, take the energy of your frustration, the passion of your anger, and turn it in a positive, productive direction. The most valuable and meaningful accomplishments are those that succeed at turning negative circumstances into positive opportunities.
What makes you angry, or frustrated, or discouraged? Whatever it is, don't let your negative emotions create even more negative results.
Look past your anger, past your frustration and discouragement, to discover how you can truly make it better. There is always a way.
-- Ralph Marston

Morning all . . . It is quiet here right now as the kids as still sleeping. I am watching the Superbowl highlights on the t.v. as I type this. What a game - I kept flicking back and forth and was surprised at how close of a game it had become. Not that I understood much of it, but fortunately it turned out well for NE and my husband is wearing a smile from ear to ear. Of course, I'm thinking "great, now we can all rest and actually have our weekends back", only to learn that NASCAR starting next weekend.
Well, eating went much, much better yesterday and I feel better. I stayed totally OP throughout the day and even went roller blading for about an hour and one-half. Ryan's friend's birthday party was at the roller skating rink and I decided to take advantage of the opportunity. The party was for 3 hours, so I figured I was on the rink for at least a total of and hour and one-half. Boy, did my legs ache after that! I have my "menu" planned for the day and am after reading's DEB's MM - am looking forward to "controlling" my eating throughout the week. I realize that I have committed to this WOE for life, and that binges like the other night are bound to happen - it is only human. I just want to make sure that it doesn't get out of control for days on end. Today my menu is: B - 1/2 grapefruit, coffee, and carrots and celery. Snack will be a yogurt - L - salad with cheese and bacon bits in a 1/2 pita pocket and dinner will be WW pasta.
BOB - Hope that you are feeling better. I rented Open Range and enjoyed it also. Hoping to get Radio next weekend - the store was out of it when we went on Saturday.
Okay - gotta hit the shower. Will try to check in later . . .

Good Morning!
Its gray and yucky here in Hotlanta. The rain rolled in late, but at least we had a nice weekend! I was suffering extreme DMS so I did not get out and walk like I wanted to. I hope to hop on the treadmill for a few this morning.
I am off to a doctor's appointment in a little while. I am anxious to see what his scale says, and what the lab results are.
Eating has been ok, according to Atkins standards.
I hope everyone has a great day!
SUZY: Sorry about Nascar! That is a bummer! But you know the guys...they have sports spaced now so there is always something! I am very thankful my husband is not much of a sports fan....

Good morning everyone,
Quite the football game last night! ANd I atcually won the football pool!
YIPPEE! Not sure what to do with my windfall yet. May hang on to it for emergencies. I was the food committee yesterday, but I ate very little of the "bad" food, just s few chips w/ onion dip. We even had my sisters and their kids over to hang out and watch the game.
breakfast was my usual bacon, egg and cheese on WW toast. And I have my gym clothes in the car for after work. The scale seems to be reacting favorably to my decreased portions and increased cardio activity, so I'll keep doing what I've been doing. I'm also going on Friday afternoon to donate platelets(instead of whole blood). The blood services organization claims they need platelets even more than whole blood right now.
Hope that everyone is doing well, and I hope to get to replies later. I did go through all the posts last night, but don't have time to get to everyone right now.
Take care and have an OP day,
Barbara

Good Monday Morning Everyone:wave:
Hoping to try-try again and be back to normal this week with being on the board as I should be. Seems when I think I'll be able to, something always happens and it pisses the crap out of me!
I wish I could share how exciting and productive my time has been, but I can't. Life has been boring, unexciting and plain ol aggravating! I'd MUCH rather be on the computer enjoying myself by reading the boards and replying but instead I find my days *****ing, moaning and ready to break that gawd damn thing! Being that we have regular dial-up service, that we have a crap load of stuff on this computer slowing it down even more AND the fact that it runs slower than molasses, anything I seem to do on here takes so long, and THEN, when it comes to losing info on it, well, that's just icing on the cake!
Anyhow, enough of my *****ing, it sure doesn't make me feel better, nor does it make the situation any different than it is, just gotta try to look at the bright side of it. My son IS going to college, that I even HAVE a computer is good and that I have ALL OF YOU as friends to keep in touch with - I should look at all the good behind all the drugery:D
I am trying to be productive today. I REALLY need to get in the kitchen and at least get that room cleaned up - the house is once again the all familiar disaster. Gosh, I had such a nice month of clean home. Everything has been neglected and I really hate it. Before it gets much worse, and oh, it can, I need to tackle what I can and try to turn this around, so as soon as I post this, it's off to the kitchen I go, and hopefully from there on, in to the dining room, which has now become not only ELI'S office, but my packing and shipping area for Ebay - a total mess! Boxes, packing peanuts, items, etc. all lying here and there - I knew there was a reason that I stopped doing Ebay long ago and I'm looking at one of them! BUT, in lew of that, I have to say I've sold some things and though I wish it were everything, it's going to help me back-pay some of the storage fees I've had to pay for keeping all this crap. Just very hard to find the time to list anything much.
Haven't been able to go back through the boards of last week where I left off, sorry, you all know that's a very big task that wouldn't be easy to tackle for me, but hey, I'm here and hopefully I'll have a better week and be able to start anew.
Besides doing chores in the house today I do have to go to the bank and PO and then p/u the kids at school and take MICHAEL for his YALE interview at 4:00pm. I'll probably stick around that area until after the traffic dies down, go to my parents house which is very close to his interview.
Did anyone else stay up to watch Survivor? Not sure how I'm liking it, or going to, maybe it was because I was so tired. I didn't see the half time show today, but heard the buzz about JJ's boob falling out - some say planned, but if so, why? And if not, what was JT trying to actually pull off? Heard there was a streaker running across the field, if good looking, I'd of definitely be interested in seeing THAT part!:s:
SUZY, can't believe you rollerblade - I can't even skate or the old-time 44 wheels. I'd love to be able to rollerblade, but alas, I'd definintely be kissing the pavement, or worse. You have the right attitude about binges and them being bound to happen. If you look at it as such, and not as a total failure, I think you'll have better success at this WOE. Wish I could heed my own advice!
MONET, we had a sucky weekend here in FL and now it's better, so I wonder if you are getting what we had:( Good luck at the Dr.'s - hope the scale is singing you praises!!! Let us know!
WOOD, congrats on your windfall - mind if I ask how much? Is this a work related pool? If you mentioned it earlier, sorry, as you know, I've been a little lax when it comes to the boards lately;)
Okay, time to tackle the kitchen, will check in later.
Have a wonderful week!!!!

Im feeling sooo guilty right now and i wasnt "that" bad. I was starving this morning and had a sweet tooth. I made some Hodges Mill buckwheat pancakes w/ smuckers all fruit. The problem is the smallest directions says it makes 6-8 pancakes and i only got 5. ( they must expect them to be the size of a quarter!!! :?: ) And i ate 3 of them!!! I know its not all that bad so why do i feel so guilty? I did pretty good yesterday i think...B-bowl of uncle sams (1 cup just like i was suppose to) L- bowl of lentils, S-apple sauce, D_legal chicken salad (homemade) on a bed of lettace with tomatoes and 4 triscuts. The scales just arent being nice this week, i guess thats why i feel guilt today. Maybe ill try that brand new never before been used pilates ball today...lol...maybe

Hi everyone,
Been feeling really punky this past week and did not get on the board at all. Did lurk. Still have that lower abd. pain and am going back to the doctor for it. I was hoping it would go away by itself. Remember, I was the one that said that the place I least like to be (in that e-mail going around) is at the doctor's. I have a dentist appt for my yearly teeth cleaning today, and then I hope to get into the doctors.
Jack-K, I've been thinking about you a lot!!! And praying for safe and completely successful surgery for you. Health problems are a b***h aren't they!
Gotta go to the dentist now. Will try to check in later.

I have seen that birthday issue a lot with married folks. One spouse (usually the wife) is used to really celebrating birthdays and the other isn't. So the wife makes a big deal out of hubby's b-day and gets hurt when the husband does not recuperate. Me and my DH BOTH don't care about our birthday so there's no problem LOL But you'd think the dense hubby would get a clue when the wife makes a big deal about his birthday right?
My girlfriend has the reverse problem. Her DH has a party for her then she doesn't for him. Know what he does now? Throws his own party every year!
Monet
Hope the doctor gives you the OK to come back to SB!
I've been doing everything totally legal for 2 whole weeks now, no cheats, and walking my butt off and scales not moving for me either :( Gotta keep on keeping on though!
You crack me up "Hotlanta. LOL I must be in Connecti-cold cause we've had a foot of frozen snow on the the ground for weeks and I'm fortunate enough not to have landed on my butt from the inches of ice covering my driveway! It has not been above 20 for weeks and it is getting annoying!
Anyone watch Sex in the city last night? I was so happy she didn't care that Big called.
I never liked him. Looks like they are trying to give everyone a happy ending before they close the show.
Watched The League of Incredible Gentlemen last night. Was ok. I loved all the gadgets and Sean Connery is always fun to listen to.
My DH is not much of a sports watcher. He went down to the Knights of Columbus to watch the SB with some friends but he's more into fishing or playing golf then football and baseball. Tank gawd for that because growing up in a house with 4 brothers and a father who did nothing but watch FB and BB was not fun.
We spent the morning moving 2 of our red-eared sliders over to my moms house. She's going to keep them over her place for a while. We moved the other 2 upstairs to my sons room. My DH was complaining about the noise from the filters so much it was driving me nuts, so this is much better.

Morning everyone!
It's icky here too--a cold rain. I'm about 100 miles from Monet so for the most part we have the same weather. Hopefully this week will be a little better than last. The legislature goes into session tomorrow and I've got to be down there all day, so maybe not.
Trish and Pancho--Sorry I missed your birthdays! :rollpin: I'm wishing you both a belated happy birthday! I hope this year is the best ever for you and that all your dreams come true! :balloons: :grouphug: :gift: :hb:
Jackie--You are on my special prayer list this week!!!!! Since you are going to have to do this, I hope you are asking the Doc for some perky new ones! I don't know aout you but mine have never been what you'd call perky. I think you might as well get something good out if it!!! :o
Cheryl--I LOVE Sex and the City! I started watching it because I was appalled by it and then I got hooked. I think the show is as good as it has ever been and am sorry to know that there are only three more episodes. The only good thing is that when Sex ends that the Sopranos begin and that is my all time fav TV show (having grown up in a family of Eye-talian descent I recognize ALL the family patterns and interactions--um, family like blook relatives, not like "da famly.")
Gator--sorry to hear you are not feeling well. Hope you are better soon!
Vmoore--banish that guilt--you've been fine girlfriend!
Deb--It's February! It's a month where everything seems like a huge chore and you begin to think that winter is never going to end! Hang in there and you'll be fine--besides you should see my house! Sorry I missed your call on Saturday!
Woodfrogs--Congrats on winning the football pool! Sounds like you have your day planned very well--go for it!
Monet--I hope you get good news from the Doc today. It's a wonderful thing not to have DMS every month!!!!! :s: Sometimes the trojans come from Pop-up ads as well as emails. My browser got hijacked by Searchit.com a few weeks ago, but it turned out to be an easy one to get rid of--I just went to add/remove programs then flushed out the recycle bin when I was through--so far so good. I downloaded a free program called AdAware to cleanse the trojans and spyware that are a casualty of surfing these days. I try to scan at least once a week for this crap. Good luck getting rid of yours.
Suzy--I guess your legs do ache from the rollerblading! But what great exercise, you should feel good about it despite the pain!
BOB--My McAfee just quarentined the MyDoom virus in an email I got this morning--that's the best money I spend every year! Thanks for telling everying about BM on QVC on Wed. Gals this is the BEST stuff!
Time to get to work! I hope everyone has a good OP day today. I just ate a plum for b-fast and will have some yogurt in a minute. Then probably tuna salad for lunch and Belle is excited because we have steak for dinner!

It's Monday and the weather here in Augusta is cold and foggy too.....the girls are at school and the wee babe is asleep...I had an OP breakfast...proatmeal(oatmeal and protein powder with skim milk and a tsp. of all-fruit jam)...snack was a half of a whole grain sandwich with turkey and lean ham and lowfat swiss. I was able to sneak in a fast uphill walk on my treadmill but now the baby is waking......
Please do me a favor!I am doing so wimpy on my water consumption! Yesterday I tried a new thing...drank 4 ounces every hour for 11 hours.....still only 44 ounces, which is better than the 12 I only drank the day before but I need more!!!! Can anyone remind me how important water is to fat metabolizing???? And talk to me like a kindergartener here!!! Today I am trying to drink 8 ounces each hour or hour and 1/2. Please ask me from time to time if I drank my water and I'll have to report! THANKS!!!!! ;) ;) ;) ;)
Going to organize for a litle and cook dinner for my family and share some with my friend that I keep the kids for. Then it's off to pick up the 2 y.o. and then back out in a little while to pick up my girls from school...busy mom day!!!!! But I love it!!!!! DH is at fireschool this week so I may not find time to be on here much. BYE!!!

Okay, so I get a few dishes washed and the phone rings! An hour later I'm back to the dishes but an hour behind...
MOORE, don't feel guilt over anything, esp. something as small as that. This is a life change and you have your future ahead of you, and as SUZY mentioned above, you're going to have some falls here and there, what's more important to learn is how to control this and not let it lead in to a major binge, a downfall, and the like. If you are able to have a cheat once in a while, being a planned one or even not, and then jump right back in the saddle and be good, you'll be learning a more valuable lesson than the person who never cheats. I didn't cheat for 2 years, nada - and when I did, it was something I couldn't stop doing. I can't "eat just one" or stop at one time-I look like the Tazmanian devil going through my kitchen once I start - I still need to learn things and as I have always told everyone on this board, you have to think of this as a learning experience and that you're learning something new each and every day, whether it be about this WOE, foods, or even you as a person:)
GATOR, feel better!
CHERYL, what the heck are 2 of our red-eared sliders over to my moms house????
FILLISE, ummm, remember, I'm in Miami - down here we'd like nothing more than our winter to never end! Okay, I have slobs for children, if your house looked like mine I'd have to ask if you had my kids move in on the sly - I guess you could blame a mess on Ms. Belle;)
FIT, water IS important but unfortunately, I'm one who doesn't drink enough as well:shrug: Do you like tea? You could drink decaf tea if you can't do the water. Is it you don't like it or you just don't remember to drink it? Not drinking enough water not only makes your weight loss stall, but it makes you sluggish AND isn't good for your over-all body functions. I'm the worst and I know it - you'd think I'd change, but I don't - some days are better than others. What beach are you going to?
Okay, back to the kitchen, going to tackle cleaning the floor - oh, what fun:rolleyes:

Good Monday Morning.
Weekend was good. DH won $525.00 at the superbowl parties. DH wants to knowhow much she gets. He immediately turned over the $25 to other DD who was with us. I think I got left out. :?:
Eating was not good, but that's ok. Sat we took family to a wonderful steak house. I ate the potatoe (just in case I never get another one). and appetizers at the partylast night. Back on track today and I figure I won't eat much the rest of the week anyway.
Oh, do you think I can ask for an IV with splenda in lieu of sugar water? What do they give diabetics after surgery? I am planning on ordering a diabetic menu. Of course you ususally don't get what you order until the day you leave.
Teensy, sorry I failed to wish you a Happy Birthday. Hope you had a great day! :hb: :hat: :balloons:
Suzy, what great exercise you got yesterday. Mistakes happen, and the keys is to put it behind you and go on not to let it turn into a super binge.
Monet, hope the Dr's visit is good today.
Woodfrogs, congrats on winning the pool yesterday. Glad the scale is being kind to you.
Deb, sounds like you are taking the MM to heart and turning your dispair into positve things. JJ was planned. They said she had a surprise for the show and I guess that was it. They weren't real either. It sure doesn't take long for the house to go to pot. I cleaned Sat and mine needs it again. Yuk! Enjoyed talking with you Sat. Goodluck to Michael on his interviews. My DD has a friend who goes to Washington U. Hope you got those forms filled out.
Vmoore, don't worrya bout the pancakes. Over eating leagl stuff is better than illegalstuff. Sometimes our bodies crave carbs and good is better than bad. Pancakes are hard to have 1 or 2.
Gator, yes health problems are a b**ch. Hope they figure out what's wrong today and it's nothing serious.
Cheryl, I hope to catch S&TC tonight. I never liked Big either. I Liked Aiden much better. Don't like the Russian either.
Fillise, back to the grind tomorrow? Oh well, what can you do. Yes I will get perky. May be a tad smaller (B cup) but perky. perky is good and a flat tummy is even better. Think I'llask him to pierce my new belly button when he makes it.
Goin4fit, try using a straw in your water. I have to have ice and a lemon too. I have trouble during the weekend, but the weekdays I do good. What great motivation you have now. I love the beach.
I probably won't be on here much this week. Trying to get 2 months of work done in 3 days plus all the dr appts I have tomorrow and Wed.
Didn't have time to read last weekend's post, sorry.
Have a great day.
Jackie.

Deb...I do like the water...I just don't remember to drink it and when I do I just feel sooo full and then I think, ugggg, I still have such-n-such ounces to go.....during the summer or workouts it's a different story tho...it comes much easier! I LOVE tea which is one of my downfalls...sweet southern regular tea.....I used to drink a pitcher a day...very sweet and drink real Dr. Peppers each day...now I am down to about 2 small glasses of tea with Splenda and a touch of sugar and maybe 1 diet Dr. Pepper a day or every two days(almost gag now on a real Dr. Pepper!)...progress, I guess! I will get better as time goes on! We are going to St. Simons Island beach...our favorite.
Another question for anyone...found this 70% dark choc(Lindt) up at our fresh market yesterday...much cheaper than online...$1.99 and it has 10 squares to it...it says a serving is 2/5 of a bar and that's 11 grams of sugar.....now...HOW much should I eat???? And how is this legal????? Thanks!!!!!!

Hey Everyone. Good Monday Morning. I am happy to report that I have exercised 5 days in a row and am not feeling that guilty about eating what I want on the weekends. After going to the gym yesterday, I just took it easy and relaxed (a word not in my vocab). I read a book "The DaVinci code" and rented 2 movies..."Capturing the Friedmans" (I am a documentary freak), and "Normal" with jessica lange and tom Wilkinson ( IMHO who totally deserved the oscar for his perfromance in "In the Bedroom"). I am getting excited as my annual "Oscars party" approaches. The invitations went out over the weekend. This year I am requesting that the guests dress as a character or part of a nominated film. I am pretty sure I am going as Charlize in Monster. I need to get out my old 80's clothes.....anyway
Teensy- Happy belated birthday. Hope you enjoyed your day!!!!!
Deb- I can totally relate about looking like the Tazmanian devil in the kitchen. I can just wander around like in a trance snacking on everything. I cannot keep off plan foods in the house. I live with my grandmother so she is on SugarBusters by proxy.
Goin4fit- what about crystal light or sf kool aid? I find this helps me.
Cheryl and Fillise- since you are both HBO series fans, have you ever seen Six feet under? That is my all time fave!!
gatorGal- Hope you feel better
monet- Good luck at the doctors. Let us know how your labs are. I am glad you are doing well with Atkins/SB!!
vmoore- It could have been a lot worse than some WW pancakes. Don't feel guilty!!!!
Suzy- Roller skating is great exercise. Good for you.
Sorry if I missed anyone. Will check in later----Ash

Good morning everyone. i wasnt here all week last week...the HOUSE was sick all damn week. It was so horrible...I cant remember the last time I felt like that, it had to be way before Dominic was born. We finally started to feel better over the weekend. Eating was great all week...unfortunatly I DIDNT lose my appetite while sick, but I ate good, until yesterday that is. I pigged out yesterday so bad. I mean to the point of..I was so full while watching the end of the game...I started getting "unfull" during the middle of Survivor so what did I do? Well what else could I do, but go get a big ole piece of cake, so i sat in my bed eating it and watching the end of survivor. But, it doesnt end there...I woke up at 230am to pee, and all I could think of was that lonely little piece of cake left on the counter..so at 230am I stood in my kitchen and ate it. I knew it couldnt be left for today. I never eat in the middle of the night...not sure what got into me. I guess I can blame it on TOM...but that would just be an easy excuse. Anyway today is a new day...and I just got done with riding my Gazelle for 15 min and doing crunches and push ups...so Im back on track...I have to lose 10lbs by March 1st....if I bust a** I think I may be able to do it....wishful thinking right?
Anyway...like I said I was on the board maybe 2 or 3 times reading what I could read last week...so I really have no replies for anyone..sorry...
JACKIE - Except for you of course...Im so sorry about your cancer...and will pray for you for Thursday. From what I can see you have a great attitude and that alone can get you through anything. You will be in all our thoughts and prayers.
Great job on DH winning $525.00...thats great!
NAT - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Glad you had a good day saturday, but sorry the meal wasnt what expected. When i used to go to Arizona to see my Aunt and Uncle they used to take us to a great Mex restaurant..I cant for the life of me remember the name..all I remember was that it was in Scottsdale and I believe on Thunderbird Rd. hvae you ever gone to that restaurant...Im pretty sure its called Rawhide??? That used to be my favorite place when I used to visit.
COLLEEN - HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you too....sorry Im late! :)
DEB - Hows the cleaning coming??? Im not sure about Survivor either...all I know is that I cant stand Richard...who does he think he is..the kind of Survivor...I cant stand his cockey *** attitude! Yes, JJ's boob came out..it didnt fal out it was kinda taken out. I dont know i it was planned or not...Im sure they will explain all on shows like Entertainment tonight or Extra.
CHERYL - I Tivo'ed S&C last night so look forward to watching that tonight. I watched Survivor instead last night.
BOB - Glad your Thursday night turned out good. So did you hear who showed up Saturday night?? Im curious to see if Charlize was there. I LOVE her.
Well I guess its off to the shower...I think I smell a little from that workout! But, I feel great! :)

This weekend I asked my DH for support this weekend as I wasn't sticking to the plan and I do allow him to sabatoge me. Although my success is soley based on my actions, (I'm already seeing a good use for Deb's MM this week) I know that with him aware of my intentions I will have someone watching out for me. For the past two days I've stuck to SB and I'm feeling better about myself. When ice cream came for dessert last night, I bought the new Klondike Carb Smart bars with Splenda. I have to keep reading Deb's MMs from last week about committment and Choices as they are a reminder that only I can change me. No one ever said it was easy, but with the Lord's help I know I can.
Arcayne: Thanks for the duck tape, I think it's finally sticking :)
Jack-K: Evidently I've missed some really important things, especially when it comes to you. I'm sorry my friend to hear of your battle with cancer. I'll be there for you if you need a ear and always in my prayers. You can beat this thing!

Kitchen's clean - that's about all I've been able to get accomplished, but hey, at least it's something. Actually, I did vaccuum the carpet in the family room. If I can tackle that mess it will be a bonus. I'd like to get the dining room cleaned up, it's not that bad it's just all the Ebay stuff on the table and floors - I'm sure with some effort if can look a ton better. Living room is usually good, will take a few minutes to clear the few things lying around in there. Won't be til tonight though as I have to get ready to go and do those needed errands before I get the kids.
Was hard for me to answer the poll this week. I like hard boiled eggs, but then again, I like omlettes with cheese, though with my wonderful cooking skills:^: they end up scrambled eggs with cheese. I only like hard boiled eggs with ketchup, and scrambled plain with ketchup or cheese. Ended up picking the hard boiled in the end.
JACKK, how does DH win money like that over a FB game? I must be missing out down here. Interesting question about the IV - will have to remember to ask my Dad, he's a pharmasist and use to work in the hospital making IV's - always worry about the sugar in the IV when I've had surgery. I haven't heard that JJ's boobs weren't real yet. Will have to stay tuned:) Hope you continue to have the wonderful outlook that you are having - I have to say, I so admire you! You are in all our thoughts and prayers and will be so for a long time to come, not just for what you are going through, but as someone we care about on an every day basis. Did you tell DD she has to e-mail me???
FIT, where is that beach. I guess I must of missed where you are from being not connected to the board, so no idea where you are talking about. How about getting a really neat water bottle and putting in your alloted amount to drink and just sip it throughout the day. I know, not a great idea, but my mind is shot at the moment, will try to come up with another idea worthy of the board. I find the Lindt 70 & 85% down here. Both yummy. You can have a 1/2 ounce up to 3 times a week. It's legal because the sugar content is very low and you aren't going to eat 2/5 of the bar. Dark chocolate is much more intense. I usually try to steer people away from eating chocolate and the like when they start SB, esp. if that's a trigger food for them because it usually becomes a daily occurance and can easily lead to other pitfalls. I didn't have my first peice of SB LEGAL CHOC. until 2 years in - but now, I can't stop at a small piece, it's do or die and I eat the whole bar!!!!
JACKIE, you rock, 5 days - and me 0, you go girl!:cp: I so wanted to see CAPTURING THE FREIDMANS - how was it? I want to see MONSTER too. Sounds like a fantastic party is in the works.
CHRIS, sorry I wasn't able to talk to you more, the area I get in stinks with the cell phone and then, well, I forgot to call back later. I can't stand RH either - I guess they made it sound like he knows how to make fire and it's terrible he won't help them make it - sounds like no one is doing well on there. Hmmm, now that I think about it, wasn't anyone wearing glasses - they could use the lens to make fire - have to watch next week!
LDBLOND, keep that positive outlook!!::D
Okay, gotta run and get in the shower.

FIT--Just because the package gives a particular serving size doesn't really mean that's what we have to eat. With the chocolate, it is PART of the SB diet--a little goodie gift to ourselves now and then. We use 70% chocolate because the ratio of sugar to cocoa is much lower--3 parts sugar, 7 parts pure chocolate, rather than 50-50 or even a higher ratio of sugar in something like Hersheys. If you have a bar with 10 pieces, just have one piece about every 3 days, and savor every little lick. I use Sharfenbargers, which comes in huge bars that are hard to break, or 1 oz. bars scored into 4 pieces. These are $1.99--a huge amount--very expensive. But it usually takes me almost 2 weeks to consume a one oz. bar. I have a 1/4 oz. piece a couple times a week. Keep focusing on the proteins and veggies and keep the starches and sugars (like the chocolate) for one serving or so per day. Good luck!
Here's another hint for those of us (like me!) who can't leave that last piece of pie or cake for someone else to scarf down. And don't ask me to throw it away. Throw away perfectly good food!! Anyway, what I often do is to run a little water over that piece of cake or pie and let it sit in the plate. Or sprinkle a ton of salt over it. I don't throw away the cake, but who wants to eat water logged cake or salted cherry pie? Not me. So it gets thrown out eventually, which is the best thing I can do for myself.
Debbie--Have you ever checked out Fly Lady? She has a pretty good site on the web for keeping up with a house that wants to get out of control at the drop of a hat.
I'm going to the doctor's this afternoon at 3:30. Dreading it. My dentist was happy with my teeth. I'd rather go to 10 dentists than one doctor!

Here's my contribution to MM.
Keep a sense of humor. Laugh, and laugh hard—it tones your tummy! Then tell yourself, "I'm going to eat well. I'll pinpoint specific causes of stress, and think of ways to change or alleviate stressful situations. I will exercise regularly. I will relax. I'll set aside time for a vacation and activities that bring me joy. I'll replace negative thoughts with positive ones."
Really good advice, just wish I could heed it for myself. Still battling depression, but I AM trying!

HI,
I'm still here. I'm sticking with the program and exercising more but not dropping any weight. I did measure but will need to find the old numbers to compare.
Okay, I miss being able to read the board a week and what is happening to our little chicks? Jack K? Monet? BOB?I will need to go back and see what is going on. Oh my!!!!!I missed Birthdays for Trish, Pancho, Teensy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope you all had wonderful Birthdays!!!!!!!
Jack K: I understand that surgery is in store. I will be thinking about you and keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. If you are choosing a diet menu for the hospital, be sure to include lots of fiber, those pain meds (if you will happen to need them) really do a number on numbing your whole system.
Monet: What did the doctor say?
Deb: If you are in a mood to clean and pick up come on this way. I have gotten interested in knitting and I don't want to do anything else. My house needs some help. I am still logging what Ray and I are eating and it is helping Ray eat more and even have whey shakes and for me to cut back on fats and carbs.
Melf: I have been trying, honest I have but I am afraid the 10 pounds we talked about losing by the get together will still be joining us, HA!
Suzy: Rollerblading sounds like fun and great exercise.
GatorGal: Hope your pain is eased soon and the dentist visit went okay. Keeping our bodies together is a full time job, it seems.
Bye for now.

MY FACE IS A MESS! REALLY  I woke up yesterday to a few "bumps" under one of my eyes. Then today, I woke up with a stye on top of the lid, and a huge amount of bumps under BOTH eyes, plus a few other scattered bumps on the rest of my face AND I got 2 PMS pimples on my chin area to boot!!! They don't itch or anything, just alot of them and they are extremely noticeable. The only thing I can think of is it's a rash from using Almay face makeup remover pads- which are suppossed to be hypo-allerginic. This sucks. I just hope it starts getting better. Anyway, yesterday my eating was horrific!! I won't go into detail, because I'm tired of falling off the wagon every weekend! Geez, this is getting old. I lose a couple then spend the next several weeks gaining and losing them all over again. I'm trying to get back on track today, but my starch intake isn't good. I bought the new WATP 4 mile Express tape. I scrounged the money up and went ahead and got it. So I did it earlier, and it's a great workout. The first 3 miles are very brisk, and then on the 4th mile the pace decreases. Keep your water nearby if you do it. I got really thirsty. Oh, and boy do you sweat! My hair was drenched, and my front and back of my shirt was plastered. So now I will alternate between my 3 mile and 4 mile tape.
Crystle- My other WATP tapes are the ones for abs. They come with the resistance bands, so you don't use the weights. With the 4 mile tape( under 10 bucks at Walmart), you don't use anything but your own body.

Gotta run
Ashley, your party sounds like a blast. WTG getting in all that exercise. You willbe fine, don't beat yourself up.
Chris, so sorry you and everyone in your house has been sick. Isn't it horrible how that food just calls and calls our name untilwe eat it? You will get thru this.
Idblond, I think letting as many people you know you are on SB is helpful. That way you will not want to cheat in front on them. (willhave to go to the closet). Glad DH is helping. thanks for your good wishes.
Deb, it was just pick a square and they filled inthe numbers. At the end of each quarter, whom ever had the # won. Only $25.00/square. The #'s changed each quarter so you had more chances and the paid $50.00 for the reverse #. The one at the bar was only $1.00/sq. yes I told DD to email you and just in case our computer isn't working I will have the girl at work do so too.
Melf, loved your MM.
Gator, that's one way not to eat it.
Yellow, since you missed out, I have breast cancer in one breast and am having both removed. I am also having the TRAM flap reconstruction (where they take your stomach fat and tunnel it underyour skin to your chest cavity). I will be gone 8 weeks but will be on the board. I will be fine. Just send me prayers on Thursday.

Jackie--Yep, I guess that's one good thing to look at. Hmmm. What can we find as a blessing in your situation? I guess you'll be learning that God is there through thick and thin. Sometimes he works through people to show you His love. Don't let circumstances dictate your faith. In a VERY hard time I had several years ago, I learned a lot about God and His character, even though I was suffering. Actually, I guess I became most aware of what I had learned when I could see the light at the end of the tunnel. Anyway, we love you and are here for you.
Home from the doctor's. I've got a little problem in my GI system, which the dr. is treating with a couple of strong antibiotics. Hopefully that will do the trick. He also wants me to get a colonoscopy in a month or so. I'm "at that age." In light of what happened to Teensy's aunt (it was YOUR aunt, wasn't it, Teensy) I told him how very nervous I was about having that proceedure. We discussed the rate of sucessful proceedures vs. perforations: 1 or 2 per 1000. That's a pretty high number, it seems to me. Anyway, I'll be interviewing doctors pretty strictly!
I'm back on the bland diet: chicken broth, white rice, white noodles, etc. UGH! It was amazing to me how hungry I got eating that stuff, even if I ate a lot of it. Hopefully, the meds will clear this up fast and I can get back to normal.
Gotta go. Again, Jackie, I'm really thinking about you.

GOOD EARLY EVENING EVERY BUDDY!!
I'm feeling so much better...this weekend was a drag though...it was rainy and yucky which made my sinus's feel as big as a football field.
SPEAKING OF FOOTBALL FIELDS....I think there is WAY TOO MUCH BEING MADE of the JJ & JT thing at halftime...this morning on the news, it said the whole thing WAS NOT PLANNED, and that he as already appoligized to EVERYONE...I didn't see it, as I was glued to the Discovery Channel....
As for the CELEBS...the producer who did Kramer vs Kramer all those years ago got the BIG award, Woody was here, Billy Crystal, Howie Mandell, but no Charlise....
I'm off to fix some supper...I fixed a pork loin yesterday and let me tell you that baby was gooooooooooooood! SO probably leftovers...
I'll check in later...

Deb - it was $250, I paid back DH for some stuff on his credit card last week, and I'm not sure yet what's happening with the rest...
Water thoughts - I usually drink decaf tea at work or out, and LOTS of water while exercising, I find it helps me keep going. A typical workout has me drinking approx. 48+ ozs between the cardio and the weights.
Ate at Charlei Brown's steakhouse for lunch, scampi and broccolli, then a horrid dessert that I shared w/ DH. And extra mile on the treadmill tonight to make up for it.
Supper was bacon and WW pancakes, not too bad.
Got to go hop on the TM, talk to all of you later,

Good afternoon:
What a day!!! I got up at 5:30 to get a shower, got Britt up at 6:20 a.m., and we were out the door at 7 for her doctor appt. The testing took nearly 2 hours, so by the time we got home, I had 20 minutes to get her stuff together for school and get Lane dressed. We dropped her off at school and then Lane and I went to Whole Foods to get some items I've been needing to get for awhile; we then had to go to the post office on the way home, and just got home and unloaded. I did not get to the gym because I didn't have time to change clothes, and Lane was in a rotten, tired mood. I plan to go tomorrow when Britt is in class.
I missed most of the game, and definately did not see the halftime show, but have heard plenty about it; I am sure they will show it on the news tonight; that is important stuff, you know  ! I do have to say that if Britt was watching, I'd probably be upset about it, but she wasn't so....I don't care at this point.
I am looking forward to Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance tonight; it really gets me laughing....I can't even imagine someone that obnoxious. That girl was from Scottsdale, and lost her job....I think I told you that before though....I sure hope she got the money.
I have never watched the Survivor series before since it is usually on at 7 p.m. and the girls are still up, but I did watch it last night, and wouldn't mind seeing a bit more of Colby. What's the deal with the loser taking his pants off all the time...gross! Also, a 75 year old man, wow....I was impressed.
BOB: thanks for the slurpee....was it SF?
fruit: Roaches gross me out!!! My DH lived in an apt. when we met, and they would scurry all over when you would turn on the lights. I don't like any bugs/spiders!
Suzy: Rollerblading is great exercise, I hear. I have never been on a pair, if you can believe it. I'll have to try it sometime.
Deb: I feel your pain with the slow computers. I have dial up too, since we don't have high speed access where we live. It is so frustrating to do anything on the computer!
vmoore: Don't feel guilty for that! If we could all feel guilty for "splurges" like that, we'd all be at goal weight ;) .
Cheryl: I guess next year, instead of a pity party, I'll have a party for myself  . I think in another few years, Britt will bake me a cake and make a big deal of it....I can't ever expect DH to.
goin4fit: Did you drink your water today???? Keep water with you at all times, and drink it even if you are not thirsty...it will keep you feeling fuller longer, and keep you from overeating too.
Jack-K: Continuing to keep you in my prayers!!
jackieO: Way to get that exercise in!!!! I'd love to be able to exercise 5 days a week; I'm lucky if I get 3-4.
chrisd: Glad you are all feeling better. I don't want to burst your bubble, but I think 10#'s in one month may be tough to do, but any will be less than where you are now, right? Rawhide is a little western type town here, with no mexican restaurant. You may be thinking of La Parilla Suiza...they are good, or maybe Carlos O'brien's.
heart: Glad you got the money together to get your 4 mile tape; a new tape always gets the motivation back up there. I should know....my pilates DVD that I just got last week is in the cupboard, untouched  . I hope to pull it out this week and at least try to learn the moves.
Gator: I think that what happened to Teensy's aunt is very rare, and that you will do just fine with the colonoscopy....beware though....it can be a little embarrassing as they ask you to pass all the air they blew up inside of you. I had an endoscopy done awhile back, and there were people farting all around me.
Well, I better go decide what is for dinner. My eating has been pretty good, just too much.
My sister is at a 13-14# loss (in one month). She is doing good and staying motivated.
Take care,
Nat

For those of you that are coming to my house later this month....you know I've been trying to figure out what y'all can do on the Monday when I'm riding - well - my dad & step-mom have invited y'all over for brunch/lunch at their house! Well, its been the day from h-ll for me. I searched the house and can't find my favorite black pants. I was late getting over to my daughters to pick her up to go to the doctors, and its raining and totally yucky and COLD outside!
The good news first: Ruth has been doing SB since mid November...and today, she has lost 36 pounds! The doctor was ecstatic! She was really beaming. He found a much cheaper place for her to get her metformin(for insulin resistance) so she was very happy. He sent her to another room for his PA to remove a mole for her, and closed the door and sat down, and looked at me very seriously. This is unusual for this usually bouncing, Tigger like doctor. My lab work was NOT good. He lamented that he has messed up my thyroid levels and is trying some new levels to try and get them balanced. My insulin levels were down, but not to the point we both were hoping. The worst news was the scale. In the last four weeks, I have gained a 1/2 a pound. No reason...and we know if my daughter and co-worker are losing like gangbusters, I MUST know the correct way to do the diet, since I taught them both. He wants me to try a different med, called Meridia. Anyone know anything about this drug? I read online about it, and it does not sound all that promising. He told me he wants me to consider bariatric surgery. I did not know if I should laugh or cry. For this next week, he wants me to do continue on Atkins, but limit my calories to 1250 a day, and check twice daily for ketogenic response. I have to keep records of everything, and go back next Monday to report. If I can get a positive ketogenic response, then we will increase the caloric intake to 1350, to see if it stops or continues. If no response, I guess we drop it to 1150. In the meantime, I am VERY frustrated, and VERY depressed. I think the Smith and Wesson cure is going to be the most promising. This makes six years I have struggled, and seen every hope dashed. I have never felt so hopeless before. I came home and had a bit of a pity party and ate a handful of french fries and half a brownie with Laura. Thankfully, I feel yucky now from the carbs.
The thumb screw on my George Foreman Rotisserie broke, and I feel like crap from the DMS, plus there is freezing rain. I went to Costco, and the two books I wanted that they had a fabulous price on, were sold out. It just been an all around crappy day.
So, I am sorry to be so depressing. I just feel like I can't take anymore. To give up won't help... Its hard feeling so terribly helpless.
I realize I am not good company, or in a frame of mind to be encouraging to others. Thanks for listening though.

Monet, I know im knew and dont really know you but your in my prayers hun. Dont forget to pray....if God brought you to it He will bring you through it. Its ok to feel down but you can never never give up. I honesty believe God dont give us more than we can handle..although i think he believes in us more than he should at times...lol. There is a lesson from God in this mess somewhere....hang in there and you will be rewarded with great gifts from him. Until then just do one day at a time, and know your in our prayers.

Jack K: Hi girl! I am sorry to hear the news. In the past you have stood out to me to be so supportive of others. I hope that we can now be there for you. The reconstruction sounds postive. With me, I have enough stomach tissue to make several increases in cup size. I certainly will be thinking of you all day, especially on Thursday and sending you my very best vibes.

Good Evening Girls-- (Haven't seen any of our guys around for awhile!)
Thanks again everyone for all the great birthday wishes, you guys are the best!!
Didn't do much yesterday. Dh and I watched a couple of movies on tv, instead of the SBowl. Pretty laid back day. Eating was OP both Saturday and Sunday. The cake I made was very good. I think it would also be good using NSA Applesauce instead of pumpkin for a variation. I made a cream cheese frosting.
Cleaned house today, and got ambitious and made enchilada sauce for some beef enchiladas. They were fantastic!! I have a recipe that my Aunt used to use in her restaurant (they owned a guest ranch in New Mexico) and just used WW flour instead of white. Will have the rest tomorrow.
I am going back into town tomorrow to get my hair redone. You can't even see any of the highlights so my cousin is going to redo it. She said free of charge. Which is nice of her, but I won't have her use up an hour or more of her time for nothing. She is recently divorced, and can use every cent she makes.
Lots of activity on the board today, so on with replies....
Suzy-- Never had to be a football widow.....my dh doesn't follow any of the sports. But he does watch a lot of outdoor fishing and hunting programs.
Monet Thank you so much for the chocolates. They arrived here today. That was the most thoughtful thing. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. If there is anything I can do for you or send you, please don't hesitate to let me know. Or just maybe something will catch my eye that will make me think of you! Those are the nicest gifts!! Thank you so much. And I am so very sorry that the new was not good at the Dr today. I know how frustrated you are. Wish there was something I could do to help. Just remember that we care, and are pulling for you! ((((Hugs))))
Woods-- Glad to hear that your activities are paying off. Congrats on winning the football pool!!
Deb-- Sorry that you have been running yourself ragged. Time to slow down and catch your breath. We miss you when you are gone, but understand how busy life can get. Clean kitchen huh......wanna come to my house???
V-- Hang in there, those scales will be heading down. Don't beat yourself up....I never get what the package says on pancakes. And mine aren't very big either.
Gator-- Hope you will start feeling better soon. The dentist and doctor in one day.....whoa.
Cheryl-- Your house growing up sounds just like mine did. My dad and brother were glued to the tv on Sundays. I am so glad that my dh isn't a big sports fan.
Fillise-- Hugs to you and Miss Belle.
Goin4-- Drink that water!! I carry my water bottle with me everywhere!!
Jack-k-- I don't think what you ate is going to do any damage. You are not going to have much of an appetite after your surgery, so it will be okay to over do a bit now. Thank you for the b-day wishes. Had a great day!! Take care of yourself these next couple of days. Our thoughts and prayers will be with you. And I think dh should have at least split his winnings with you!!
JackieO--WTG on the exercising.....doesn't it feel great to get those 5 days in? Thank you for the b-day wishes. Your "Oscars Party" sounds like a blast.
Chrisd-- Hang in there....been there and done that!! Glad that you are feeling better. That is what counts!! And thanks for the b-day wishes.
Id--I always felt that it helped me to stay on track with my family all knowing what my food plan was. We have a weeking family get together with a pot luck. I can alway count on my Mom and my Aunt Carol making dishes that I can eat. And I always feel like everyone is watching to see what I eat, so I am able to stay OP.
Yellowrose-- Hang in there, if not weight, then inches I am sure!!
Heart-- Would those makeup pads cause a sty on your eye?? Sure hope it doesn't hurt. I have never had one, so don't know if they are painful.
BOB--Thank you for the ecard. It is such a nice thing to come home to something so unexpected!! You are a very thoughtful friend! Thanks.
Pancho-- Sorry to hear dh was such a butt about your birthday. My family always made it a special day for the Birthday person. Dh is more laid back, but always makes the day special for me. This year I get to go buy new clothes! I am planning a surprise party for him this year!! He will be 70 in May.
Fruit-- Sounds like fun..... you guys will have a blast! Wish I could make it!
Well, that is it for me tonight, see you all tomorrow sometime!!

I was stupid one time and tried to "pop" it to get it off...well it poped and my eye swelled closed for 3 days!!!! So i couldnt imagine haveing one on top of the other eye problems your having. OUCH...the over the counter stye medicine seems to work pretty good.
Monet, I hope you have a great day today. Ive been thinking of you and praying for you.

Good Wednesday Morning:wave:
Figured I better get in this post before SOMETHING happens. Have a lot of phone calls to make to get people to help with the Oral Exams for MICHAEL'S magnet which the tests start next week, a lot earlier than years past. I have some slots taken but have 22 days to fill and some days need 2-3 people. Glad this is the last year I'll be doing this job, then it's off to help LAUREN'S drama booster club for the next 2 years. When I'm gone, thankfully, someone will be taking over for me those few days:)
MICHAEL felt his YALE interview went well, was about an hour and 20 minutes. That's all for local interviews at this time, unless something new pops up, now it's just the WASH U interview when he flys there. He got his confirmation in the mail yesterday. I've volunteered to take the kids to the airport that Sat morning - going to be tired that day. Will be leaving our house before 5am:eek: Figured if I get them there 2 hours ahead of time at around 5:30am that would be sufficient, it's early on a Sat. morning - don't think they need to be there 3 hours ahead.
Time to get in some replies as I have a few errands to run - today is my Dad's birthday, and I thought I had a card, but I don't, so have to do that.
GATOR, good tip on making you not eat that last piece of whatever! The problem is following through in doing it. I actually did get the flylady e-mails for a while, they got to be too much, didn't do anything for me and would begin deleteing them without even opening. Eventually pulled my name off the site. Good idea though, may try again when I get the house back up to par. I too have to go to the Dr. and get a colonoscopy - putting it off and putting it off - don't want to do it, but since colon cancer runs in 3 generations of my family that I know of, I guess I better.
MELF, we'll get you out of any depression when we get together - can't wait, will be in touch!
ROSE, now, common, the TREE HOUSE looked beautiful and you said then that all you did was lie around and read, so I'm sure your house looks spectacular is is. Are you feeding my main man well? How's he feeling? Does he want anything from down here, as well as you? Can't wait to see you!!!!!:D
HEART, I use the Almay eye pads, never a problem - hope it's not from them, though, are you sure they aren't outdated maybe? Sounds like you are a bit of a mess there. Hope it clears up fast.
JACKK, hoping between work and trying to get things done at home before you go in on Thursday, you don't run yourself in to the ground. Thanks for telling both DD and the gal at work to e-mail me, we'll all be thinking about you that day. {{{HUGS}}}:grouphug:
WOOD, horrid desert, does that mean it was horrible tasting, or a horrid desert that was to die for????:s:
MOORE, starch blockers, I don't think they really work, and besides, they only work on starchy carbs and those you should limit to approx 2-3 a day, though I do believe that number may differentiate for those who have more to lose, and who could benefit from more than 2-3 a day. Try making sure your starchy carbs are high in fiber, but from what I know, my opinion is that I don't think there's anything wrong with taking them, possibly just a waste of money. Me slow down - sometimes I do unintentionally, when things catch up with me. I need to get a job, but then I think, how the heck can I work with all that I do and have to do? If you have a bread machine, I have a great recipe for ww pita!
PANCHO, BFOF, watched some last night, was funny - her facial expressions are hysterical. Watched AMERICAN IDOL - can't wait for that tonight. I wonder if those services, like NETZERO high speed access, which uses dial up are any faster???
FRUIT, WOO HOO!! Can't wait to chew the fat, so to speak, with your parents!!! Sounds good to me. Will bring a bag of coffee for them as well:D Tell them thanks for the invite. Do they live close to you?
MONET, did you find your pants? CONGRATS to RUTH - she must be so happy!!!! Okay, so I'm not a Dr., but my personal opinion is that doing those little calories are going to be a problem, not just because it's not enough, but that he's restricting you so much that it may also be counter-productive - hope you can find an easier solution. Hope you feel better today.
TEENSY, will come and clean your house happily if that means I get a vacation with free room and board - but I don't do windows, nor cook for you, you'd definitely through me to the wolves if you had to eat my cooking!!!!
BOB, terrible news about that little girl from Sarasota - gosh, I hope they find her and find her alive. They really aren't saying much about the street this happened on and where she was coming from and going to. Also heard about the accident that closed down 75 - lots of things going on making the news over there.
Okay, gotta go be productive, will check in later!

DEB - I don't want to throw you for a loop, but today is Tuesday, not Wednesday. Good gosh girlfriend, you have been running around so much lately that time is just slipping by you. Take a moment and a big deep breath - just think about how good you must feel right now realizing that you have another whole day to add to your week! ;)
I'm hoping that this won't be a drive-by, but I have to leave for school in a few minutes. Today is warm (31 degrees) and wet. They are predicting snow squalls later today. Not much is new here - I got up real early (5:30) and got ready for school and then ran out to go food shopping before the boys got up. DH is home today. Bought a lot of good, legal foods to keep me going through the week. Tonight we are having chicken fajitas on ww wraps! Yummmmm!
Okay - few replys before I blow out of here. Anyone I miss, I'll try to get you later today.
MONET - So sorry to hear about your dr's appointment! Perhaps your medication is reason why you haven't lost. I don't know much about your condition, but I know that some medications can cause excess weight. The fact that you have been doing everything legal and still not losing doesn't make much sense. Please hang in there . . . you are in my thoughts and prayers. Congrats on Ruth! You are such an inspiration to her!
JACK-K - Still keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. Will be thinking of you on Thursday and afterwards and hope that all goes well. Please keep in touch - we will all be anxious to hear how you are doing!
Okay - gotta fly - will be on again today!

Monet--Some random thoughts that I was having this morning as I was feeling really punky and wondering if the antibiotics were ever gonna "do their thing":
I am mad at my body for "letting me down." Sounds to me like you probably feel this way too. And Jackie too. When we hold up our end of the deal by exercising, eating right, eating our fiber, protein, and avoiding, for the most part, junk food, then we expect our bodies to respond by being healthy and not getting out of whack. I was feeling so angry this morning. Having to fiddle with health problems is miserable. This certainly is a reminder that this world is not my true "home" and that I've gotta expect this kind of stuff in this imperfect world. Kind of a melancholy thought, eh? Anyway, I just want to say that I empathize with your frustration, and hope you will stay encouraged by the other aspects of your life. Even if the health part of your life is not going great right now, don't let that be the driving force in your life. Focus on your purpose and what you do that makes a difference, and try to let the health part become just an annoying secondary part that you handle the best you can.
Well, the headlines in our paper were all about Janet Jackson's boob. We watched the Super Bowl with friends, but were having a light supper at the time and did not see it. Of course I saw it later when all the news casts repeated the "incident." As far as I'm concerned, the part with Jackson grinding her rear into Jason Timberlakes crotch was grosser. They might as well have just gone all the way and fornicated on stage. But what do I know!
Suzy--Stay warm up there in that 31 degrees. It is overcast here today, quite gloomy. Hopefully it will burn off. We are supposed to get up in the high 70's today, but it doesn't look like it right now.
Debbie--Good luck getting everything done. Just focus on when Michael goes off to college. You'll either enjoy one less bit of mess or hate it because he is not around messing things up. I actually enjoyed the sanity that came when my kids went off to college. I was ready for them to "fly the nest." For now, just try to get one room at a time picked up so that it at least LOOKS tidy. That trick works for me. I try to focus on the kitchen and our bedroom. My DH doesn't mind mess too much as long as the kitchen is tidy. However, that's the room that is the hardest to keep up with. LOL
Well, gotta go. Have to go to the college library to watch a film.

Good TUESDAY morning...yes, Deb, it is Tuesday. You had me worried there for a minute! I thought I missed my Wed. morning workout!
I actually had to go to the dentist this morning to have a filling replaced. I didn't have my first cavity until I was 23 years old, and it was one of those white fillings. It was finally getting pretty low in the tooth, and the dentist replaced it. If this next one can last 13 years, I'll be in good shape. My mouth is still numb though and I don't like it.
I hope to get to the gym today when Britt is in school; I hope Lane is cooperative. I haven't worked out since Saturday.
fruit: So nice of your DD & DSM to have everyone over; I am sorry to miss all the fun. I can't wait to hear about it when everyone returns.
Monet: Congrats to Ruth on the weight loss; I am sure she is just thrilled!! On the other hand, I am so sorry to hear the upsetting news that you received. I have heard of Meridia, but know nothing about it. It must be so frustrating to have to count every calorie that goes into your mouth. I hope today is a better day and you have a new positive outlook; I'm sure there are a lot of other things in your life to be thankful for, although this is really a tough blow. Try to hang in there!!!
Teensy: Would love the enchilada recipe, if it's not an old family secret or anything. I LOVE mexican food, and could eat it on a daily basis. Glad your DH & family make a big deal out of your birthday....gosh why not celebrate making it another year, eh?
Deb: You need some more sleep woman....it is Tuesday. I hope you are not running your Wed. errands and taking Michael to any meetings/interviews that are scheduled for tomorrow ;) .....I guess a day early would be better than a day late huh? We could get high speed dial up through DirectTv, but it is outrageous. I am waiting for Quest to offer it in our area; it will be much less expensive. AND then DirectTV will lower their prices to be competitive....figures!
Suzy: Warm at 31? We are in lockdown at that temperature...can't even move our fingers & toes  . We are supposed to be around 55 degrees today and maybe see some snow flurries around 3500 feet. That would be not too far from our home.
Well I have laundry to do; Britt needs clean underwear and pants to wear to school.
Take care!

Good Tuesday morning.
Heck Deb, you are not alone, I don't know what day it is either or what I'm doing.
Went for my pre admissions testing this morning. My blood pressure is sky high and the nurse was concerned that they may not do the surgery. That surely added to my anxiety. I am trying to chill. I have candle burning, soft music playing and trying to get all this work done. :D I have to go the the Rheumatologists and get my blodd drawn for her today so I will get it checked there again.
My priest called and wants to come over and anoint me tonight. That added to my anxiety. Plus I have to make sure my house is cleaned up.
Gator, glad they figured out what was wrong. Hopefully you will be better in a couple days. Good relpy to Monet. I thought the whole half time show was ridiculas (sp). All that rap and sexual undertones (and I'm not a prude either).
Bob, so glad you are feeling better. In light of what is going on with MJ, you would think JJ would not want any more controversy in their family.
Woodfrogs, way to work off that dessert.
Pancho, congrats to your DS. She is doing great.
Monet, that is awesome about Ruth. Tell her congrats and keep up the good work. We are here to listen any time. I wish I could reach out and hug you. There is a bright side you just can't see it right now. Hang in there girl.
VMoore. Amen to Monet
Yellow, thank you. I will be fine.
Teensy, glad you had a nice bd. Thanks for all your good wishes too. DH said he was going to give the girls $50 each and I couldhave the ret to buy me a diamond bracelet. He has been so wonderful thru all this that I surely don't need any gifts.
Deb, glad Michael's interview went well. he willbe getting offers from everywhere.
Suzy, boy you are up and out early and prepared. Bring on the snow, you will survive it.
Got to get busy. Probably talk to you all tomorrow.

Good morning everyone. Happy tuesday! I made it 2 days in a row on the workout. Did my Gazelle..push ups and crunches..and feeling good...just a pile of sweat right now. You wouldnt believe how much sweat comes off of you from using that thing for 15 min....its a heart beater! Eating was great yesterday...I made a Chef salad last night and it was soooo good. It really hit the spot. I took some sirloin sizzlers out for tonight..Im in the mood for a little steak.
PANCHO - Thanks for the bubble burst! :).. I know it will never happen, but its good to think right? :) Anyway...I could of swore there was a restaurant called Rawhide..I think there were shops all around there. I dont know I was like 16 or 17 at the time..hard to remember. UUggghhhh and I hate a numb mouth..thats a horrible feeling!
DEB - I am soooo addicted to AI...so is DH. I look so forward to it. I saw the Obnoxious show too last night...well the last half and it was pretty funny. Im glad Michaels interview went well...Im sure the Wash U one will go just as good!
SUZY - where do you get the ww wraps or tortillas? I cant find them anywhere. I would guess a HFS???
BOB - That girl from Sarasota is alllll over the news here too...what a horrible feeling for that mother (and the girl of course)...is that close by you?
TEENSY - Would love that Enchilada recipe too! I have been looking for different foods to make. Im so sick of the same old boring stuff. I was looking on the boards last night and found a few interesting things there. Im all about easy though...I cant handle complicated cooking! lol
JACKIE - How you doing today? Im sure very busy at work! Thinking about you, and praying for yoU!
Have a good day everyone...gotta get in the shower!

OOHH, the board is hopping this morning. I have to remind myself to post first thing in the morning since I am such a slow typer. I always had problems in school with research papers and with my thesis. I used to pay people to professionally type my papers..it was a sad state of affairs. I am thinking about going back to school (been out long enough) and plan to get the girl I tutor to type my papers. She has such good experience instant messaging people on AOL, that she could be a court stenographer. It cracks me up. Anyway...yesterday made my 6 day in a row for exercise. Did a boot camp class and me chest is SSOOOOOO sore from pushups. Yes, my man pushups. Remember when I had people on the boards calling me Rocky?? Yes, I am a crazy nut. I make my trainer call me Rocky and she sings eye of the tiger when I have to bench press. hAHA. Enough of this tangential conversation...
JackK- Continued prayers for you. I wish I could send you one of those WW pizzas from LA pizza kitchen to cheer you. That would lower your blood pressure for sure!!! Please try and relax..continue to listen to your music and take it easy. Anxiety can be a big part of high blood pressure.
Pancho- How are the Pilates tapes going? I think I told you I got the whole Winsor pilates set for Christmas. Of course it's still in it's shrinkwrap on my nightstand, serving as a lovely coaster for my diet pepsi can.
Monet- Good thoughts and prayers going out to you!!! Before I started SB my cardiologist recommended Meridia for me as well. I chose SB first and I never got the prescription filled. You might have to be careful though, because you have to limit your fat intake to avoid some not so pleasnt side effects. It might be hard to limit your fat intake that much on Atkins. Good Luck..
suzy- Your fajitas sound good. I may have the same tonight.
teensy- Sounds like your family is really supportive of your weight loss efforts. I hope to meet a husband whose life is not consumed by football. I never did understand it and have made no efforts to learn. No one invites me to Superbowl parties anymore, mainly because I don't have a clue what is going on and I talk over the game. HAHA. Watching videos is a much better than watching the superbowl!!
Deb and Fruit- Any ideas of goodies I can bring to the soiree? I am going to try and order a SF king cake to go with all that coffee that Juan Valdez, I mean Deb, will be bringing on her mule!!! Maybe some ww crusted pizza?
I make a good brown rice jambalaya. Any ideas or special requests??? (i am so excited)
A big hello and hugs to CountryMom, Chrisd, yellowrose, julia, heartmom, gatorgal, jenn28, BOB, Melf, Sef, vmoore, and everyone else!!!

Todays food: b-egg, bacon, cheese on WW toast
l-orange, celery, a few WW crackers
not sure about dinner yet.
I think i hate the scale, I really shouldn't get on it every day, it just makes me depressed. I need to go back to the 1x a week weigh-in and just deal with it. 2 very different weights today, hopefully tomorrow will be something good.
Deb - the dessert was horrible because it was so good. Smashed Apple sundae. Really a piece of apple pie, in a sundae dish with ice cream, whipped cream, and nuts. I did manage to walk 4 miles last night on the treadmill, so I hope that it helped work off some of it. I also just realized that I need to have the FAFSA done by the 15th, so I'll be bust working on that this weekend, with estimated income, because our taxes aren't done yet. I used to do my own, but since we got married and the husbands $$ stuff is more complex, an accountant does them now.
All for now, we have a storm moving in and I'm keeping on eye on the window for going home early. The kids are already home(early dismissal), but since they're 17, it's not like I have to rush home and check on them.
All for now,
Barbara

It's another week again, time sure flies. Dh was off yesterday so we were out and about a lot eventhought it was raining and gloomy the whole day. Today is just lovely, not too cold and very sunny! This morning, my neighbor and I went to attend women bible studies at our church (Beth Moore actually) and it was wonderful although seemed a little overwhelming to me. We have got 5 days of homework to be done...geeezz...:) Jessica is still sleeping (nap) after 1 1/2 hrs and that is very rare for a "don't-want-to-miss-anything" type of personality ...lol. That's why I am hoping to do some replies here since I am falling behind again.
vmoore : Eating legal pancakes are better than non-legal ones. You didn't do much damage, don't worry about it. I also have buckwheat pancakes around once a week and usually is satisfied with 2 especially when I eat it with some protein like sausage, eggs etc. That really keep me full and many times, I am not hungry until lunchtime.
goin4fitmommy : Have you drink your water today? :) I often don't drink enough water, not because I don't like it but because I don't remember. So, lets keep each other reminded. Which beach are you heading to? I can't wait for our summer vacation at the beach, not sure which one yet but will try to go to one anyway.
Jack-K : Congrats on the win at Superbowl party? I have never won anything in my life, at least nothing that I can remember. Are you treating yourself to something you like??
Jackie-O : WTG on your exercise. You are an inspiration! I will remember you everytime I am giving myself an excuse not to exercise.
Chrisd : Hope everyone at home are feeling better already.
Got to go wake dd up or else she won't be able to go sleep at her usual time at night. Be back soon.

I've had too much to eat today(again!)- don't want to talk about it. I'm in a really foul mood due to our President! Yes, I know they're are Bush supporters on this board, but oh,well. I have always voted Republican, but this next time you better believe I will be voting Democrat. I'm disgusted with Bush and where he stands on our health issues. The one that just took the cake is that he turned down a National Proclamation for CHD Awareness Day, making February 14th a NATIONAL Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Day. We had almost 10,000 signatures and personal stories! All he had to do was sign the paper, how long does that take?! I sure hope he never has a granchild born with CHD, then he would look at it with a whole different perspective. There are more children born with CHD's than all 5 major types of cancer combined, and still there is not enough awareness out there. There is very little funding provided for research. And AHA doesn't help. Only 1 to 2% of their profits actually go into CHD research or funds. But of course, this time of year they have no problem plastering pics of kids all over their advertising. I am absolutely disgusted with this. I've tried to contact newspapers, stations, radio, talk shows and I never get a response. Alright, I'm off my soapbox and fixing to vent my frustrations at something else(like cleaning).

I saw Six feet under when it first came on but never got into it. I love the Soprano's and hope this season is a good one!
MonetDefiantly a crappy day for you yesterday hope today was better? Congratulations to Ruth Wow!
Well you have been having problems for a long time at least you have a doctor who is actually trying to help. You are on the right road to finding out what the problem is at least!
Went to my mom's this afternoon. My brother requested her chocolate chip cookies. I went over to hang out and help with the baby because he was so pooped. He drives a tow truck 5 nights a week and takes care of their 8 month old during the day while his wife works. I try to help out when he's tired but I only have one good hand so I can't do a lot. Mostly I play with her while he naps on the couch.
I ate before going over because cookies are a weakness of mine, specially my moms. I only ate 5 and they are not very big so for me I did good!
I've been meaning to ask this question. I know Seminola flour from Durum wheat is legal but I noticed that most of them say "enriched macaroni product" are those legal?
Deb this is our 2 big sliders that I moved to my moms house.

Hi yall! The two little ones just left and my girls are coloring nicely so thought I'd say hey......had a good power pump class at the gym this morning and then walked on the treadmill for 20 mins after while the kids were still in daycare(2 hour limit)
I had a yummy lunch but don't know if it was legal....southwest chargrilled chic salad from Chick-Fil-A...I was soooo craving Mexican and this hit the spot....it will make two meals for me too...just used a touch of dressing and was a bad girl and ate the tortilla strips :)
I drank 24 ounces of water during my workout and 16 more in the form of diet lemonade...now I hope to drink 16-24 more in limeade with Splenda tonight...YEA!!!! I am doing it!!!!
Gator and Deb: Don't worry about the colonoscopy...my DH is an RN in the Endoscopy unit and your "ticket to go home" will be passing that gas!!!! It's a good thing!!! ;) ;)
Monet: Meant to tell you yesterday you are in my prayers!
Julia: I am going to St. Simons Island beach(near Brunswick, Ga...great family place)...do you live near there? Did you drink your water today too????
Pancho: Have you popped in a Slim in 6 yet?? Have you ever visited the Beachbody site...they have a good motivational Slim in 6 board with lots of before and after pics!
Gotta scoot get some dinner on the table...Have a good night! Hi to everyone else! ;) :)

Hi - I'm home from school and procrastinating about cleaning this pig pen. My DH has been doing some desperately needed "stuff" around the house today, so he hasn't had time to pick it up either. Oh well - I don't recall anyone ever saying they wished they had spent more time cleaning their house!
School was good - I am having such a blast! I feel like a little kid with a new toy! I have met some great people and have even been asked if I want to hang out with some of the pro photographers when they do their next gig. Which is wonderful me b/c I'm one of those who really benefits from "hands-on". I told them to let me know when their next function was and if I could fit it into the "schedule", I would be there!
Eating has been very legal today and once I get off my butt and vaccuum, I'll be starting dinner - which will be the fajitas I mentioned this morning.
CHRISD - I get my ww wraps at my local supermarket. I think that they are made from Thomas' (like the english muffins), but I'll double check when I make dinner and let you know.
FILLESE & CHERYLCO and any other HBO fans - I too watched S&C and enjoyed every minute of it. I liked Carrie with Aiden, but I kind of like the Russian too. I just love that show and know that I will miss it when it is gone. However, I have to honestly say that there isn't a show on HBO that I don't like. I'm looking forward to Sopranos and Six Feet, but have heard that they will be putting out a new show too - one that I think everyone on this board will love. It is based on a book called "Good in Bed" (not what you think) by Jennifer Weiner. It is about a "big" girl and her difficulties with being overweight. She eventually realizes that in the scope of life "size" isn't everything and actually finds love where she least expects it. It was an awesome book, an easy read and I definetly recommend it to everyone. Rumor has it that HBO bought the rights to the book and are planning to make a series out of it. I forget who they have in mind to star in it - but I can't wait. Perhaps this new show will take the slot of S&C?
JACKK - Sorry that your blood pressure is high - please take some deep breaths and hang in there . . .
PANCHO - Sorry about your tooth - 23 years old b/4 first cavity? I envy you!
GOINGFIT - You are doing great! Keep up the good work - water, water, water (just reminding you :smug:
JACKIE0 - Let your student know that stenographers can make some really good money. I know b/c I work with them all the time in the law office and at Court.
HEARTMOM - Sorry about your day. It is so hard when you work so hard towards a goal and then there is a letdown. Keep trying . . . someone "high up" will listen . . . when this election or another one.
Okay - gotta clean b/4 the gains starts hollering about dinner!

HEART- I totally agree with you, there is no reason not to do this to bring awareness to this disease. One thing for you to consider is...most of the time the president is not handed a single subject to aprove or disaprove. Most times it is a package deal of 5 or 6 things. So he may not of disaproved of the awareness day but to something else in the "package". I learned this in a political class. So hang in there and dont give up. These packages always go back in front of the president.

GOOD EARLY EVENING TO ALL YOU BUDDYS!
The little girl who was abducted was on BEE RIDGE which is a very busy street, and where she was is out close to the interstate, but is also the vicinity where she lived. She had been to a sleep over and was walking home. The mother of the house where she was saw her walking thru the neighborhood and instead of making her get in the car and taking her home, went home and called the girls parents. By the time the StepFather got there, she was gone. No clues....NADA!!! The film came from the car wash when they opened on Monday morning. They evidently review the tapes from the weekend and that's when they found this. The picture looks clear enough to detect who this guy is, but they aren't saying anything. I'll keep y'all posted when we find out things, but then y'all will probably hear it before me...out TV station sucks here in Sarasota! The paper too!
I gave DEBBIE THE SCARE OF HER LIFE THIS MORNING!!! My boss decided to let me know that I didn't have enough time
to be completely paid for the time off to go to Missy's. I called Deb and told her and she paniced...which I totally understand...that's a long way to have to go by herself! We talked it out and came up with questions for my boss which I presented to her and we came up with me probably not being paid for about only 4 hrs...the way she talked to me, I thought she meant the whole time....SO...we settled that, I called Deb back and we got our traveling time settled.. I was going to take off a half day on Thursday, but by the time she gets here, it will be around 4pm so we'll leave after that....WHEW!!!!
I've got to go fix dinner, so I'll be back later...for replies

;) Good afternoon gang--
Went into town this morning and had my hair done again. She did an exellent job!! I really like the way it turned out. It doesn't just have lots of strips of lightened hair, it all blends in together and looks great!! Or so I think, he he.
Went to Costco and got loaded up on vegetables. I hate going to the store and paying 1.99 for one head of romaine lettuce when I can get 7 at Costco for 2.79!! They were all out of frozen fruit though. I did get a case of oranges though. Dh and I have one everyday as a snack. Waited all winter for the navels to get here. Don't care for the valencia's. They are not as sweet and have the seeds. Yuck.
Deb-- Leaving the house before 5 am?? That is like 2 am for me! What will you do with all your free time?? As for your cooking, I think you are probably a great cook. And I have heard it said that everything taste better when someone else cooks it!!
Suzy-- Hello to you and hope that you enjoy the warmth!! Love chicken fajitas!!
Gator-- I liked what you had to say to Monet. I am already tired of hearing about JJ. It's like they have to grind everything into the ground before they move on to the next story.
Pancho-- Here is the recipe for the enchilada sauce.
1/4 c ground red chili powder (this can be found in the ethnic food section of your grocery store. I use the New Mexico kind that my Aunt sends me.)
1/2 c WW flour
1/2 c oil
1/2 t garlic powder
1 t salt
5 c water
Brown flour in oil, add chili and other spices. Add water slowly. Simmer until sauce thickens a bit.
As for the enchilada's themselves, I just brown the ground beef, fill a ww tortilla with about 2 oz, sprinkle cheese over meat, roll up and lay in a pan. Once the pan is filled, I pour the enchilada sauce over them and top with cheese. Bake until hot. Can be topped with lettuce, sour cream, olives or any other toppings of choice. This makes more sauce than I use for a batch of 8 enchilada's.
Jack-k-- Is it possible that your blood pressure is high due to your anxiety over the surgery?? I am sure that has alot to do with it. I know it is easier said than done, but do try and relax a bit. Prayers still coming your way! The support of a spouse can mean all the difference in the world. I am so glad that he has been a strong supportive shoulder for you. Bless him!!
Chrisd-- Wooo Hooo!! Fantastic job. It does make you feel good doesn't it??
JackieO-- First thing in the morning here is like noon for the rest of you!! I get on here some days, but it is usually at night and you all are in bed. 6 days of exercise is fantastic!! You are going to be melting away before our eyes, Congrats!! I miss all the hoopla over the SB. When we had the tavern it was a big deal, and we always had a big bash. I watched both my boys play in HS, and that helped in understanding the game. And it is alot more fun, when you know the players!! ;)
Wood-- I used to weigh every day (and it drove me crazy!) until Deb posted the challenge to only weigh on Wednesday. Since then, I only weigh on Wed and don't seem to be as anal about it any more. I am sure you will soon see a loss, your foods sure look good.
Keng--Big hello to you!!
Heart-- Hang in there, I know how frustrated you must be. I guess some people just can't comprehend the agony of having a child with CHD until it happens to them. Keep trying to get through to them and don't give up. I think we need people like you to keep at it so that the rest of us can get ourselves educated about it. Does that make sense??
Cheryl-- Cool turtles!!
Goin4-- Hello to you today!!
BOB-- I saw a snipit of that on the news. I am sure the parents are just frantic. My prayers are with them. Please let us know if you find out anything.
Well gang thats it for me for now. See ya all later!!

This will prob. be a quick post; I have to make dinner and my class is tonight. I have only read 3 of the 4 chapters I should've read.
I am trying to find a place for us to stay in Colorado next weekend to play in the snow. Telluride is not very accommodating to babies, and don't really want her there, so we will probably stay in Durango instead.
I got to the gym and got a good workout in.
Jack-K: Sorry you are so stressed; I am sure my blood pressure would be sky high too. Continuing to pray for you.
chrisd: Good job on exercising and eating. There is a restaurant at Rawhide (western town), but it is a steakhouse, not mexican. They are located much farther north than Thunderbird, but are on Scottsdale Road.
JackieO: You crack me up. I want to do a bootcamp too, but it is not early enough. They have a great bootcamp here, and I hope to try it someday. I have not yet done the Winsor pilates, but hope to at least learn the moves in the next few weeks.
Ken: Gotta love those long naps.
cheryl: I just bought semolina pasta, and it reads....100% semolina wheat pasta; where does it say enriched???
goin4fit: Way to get that water down and exercise in!!! I saw the support board on the beachbody board and it looks like a great motivational site. I have yet to do the tapes, because I want to wait until I can put a real true effort into it and I just can't do that right now.
Lane has been a grump all day...gotta go; she's screaming for something.
Have a great evening.
Take care,
Nat

hey my friends!
Just a fly-by again! Got work to do!
DEB: Yes - my dad lives about 3 blocks away in the same neighborhood! At first they were planning a SB legal meal and I told them to can that idea! We were planning on 1 SB meal and the rest was going to be cajun, fattening, etc.!
LYN: My parents love to party - you know - the apple doesn't fall far from the tree here! They love to entertain people at their house and get to know all about everyone! I'm sure they will have some drinks too! So, be ready to par tay when you go there!
JACK-K: Girl...best of luck to you on Thursday! I'll be praying for you! Get that blood pressure down and relax! Take a bubble bath tonight in the dark! Keep us posted on everything! I love you!!!
BOB: I just saw that on the news about that little girl....how horrible!
Well, lemme run!

Deb! Whey!!! You had me going for a minute. Had me thinking that I missed a day of work! The thought no, surely they would have called to see why I hadn't showed up!! LOL
Suzy Thanks for setting things straight I was really nervous about it being Wed. without my knowledge! LOL
Jack-k Prayers are being lifted up for you girl. Hang in there & KNOW that the Lord is in CONTROL even when we feel that things are out of control. HE will be there with you as well as all our prayers!
JackieO Hummm, your ideas of things to bring sound really good! Can't wait to meet you.
Fruit, How very sweet of your parents to want to feed us & entertain us on Monday! But then that IS Cajun hospitality isn't it? :D
BOB, Soooo glad you were able to get that straight about the pay & you have a green light to GO! Can't wait to meet you AT LAST! :D
Lyn, Hope Ray is doing well. Girl, I have failed completely on the loss as well, so don't give it another thought. We'll have a good time anyway!
Today is Tuesday Tips right?? Right Deb?? ;) Here's a tip I got in my email today I thought I'd share with everyone. Comes from SB diet, but still pertains to us... or most of it does anyway.
Breakfast On the Go
Do you have trouble finding the time to cook breakfast? Are you guilty of sometimes skipping this first meal of the day? If you answered yes to either of these questions, you're in danger of sabotaging your diet. Skipping breakfast can cause dangerous cravings to return and can encourage you to overeat throughout the day. Don't fall into this trap just because you can't spare five minutes to grab something quick from the refrigerator.
For those mornings when you just don't feel like cooking, try keeping the following on hand:
* Deviled or hard-boiled eggs
* Celery sticks with natural peanut butter (trans-fat free)
* Single serving nonfat or 1 percent cottage cheese cups
* Precooked turkey bacon
* Precut vegetables in plastic sandwich bags
* Individual, low-fat cheese slices or low-fat cheese sticks
* Sliced turkey or other low-fat meat
* Tomato or vegetable juice cocktail in single-serving cans
* Ready-made hummus
* Plain fat-free yogurt
* Low-fat plain yogurt
* Nonfat artificially sweetened yogurt—limit to 4 ounces daily
* Whole-wheat bread or whole-wheat English muffins
* Berries (prepared the night before)
* Sugar-free bran muffins (without raisins)—choose a small muffin and check the ingredient label for the fat content.
See ya!

I would not let you miss this even if I have to call your boss myself! Glad it all worked out! Y'all have to get here by at least 4:30 on Friday - so no venturing off too much on the way here! We have a parade to go to that night!! woohoo!
MELF: When are you planning on coming - Friday or Saturday?

Quick reply...
I just woke up few mins ago and realized that I fell asleep when I put Jess to sleep 3 1/2 hours ago...lol. My kitchen is still not cleaned so I need to take care of that after this quick stop.
Teensybean : How did the General Tso's chicken went last week? I love it and if you don't mind, can you tell me how you make it? Thanks.
Melf : Thanks for the breakfast tips.
Cheryl : I know what enriched pasta you are talking about. I see them all the time in store. The only non-enriched one I found was by Davinci (organic) and under health food section in Publix and soooo expensive. I will post a question below about that.
Monet : {{{hugs}}} I am so sorry that the lab results didn't come back well. Just by reading your posts about all you results, I felt your frustrations. Gosh, I hope you get a break soon. I will keep you in my prayers.
fitmommy : No, no, didn't do too well on my water intake! Now, I just woke up from my 3 plus hr nap so I didn't get to drink water the last few hrs :( I must be really tired. I live in Fayetteville, GA now. Last year was the first year dh and I took our beach vacation and we went to Panama City, FL. We were deciding between Panama City and St Simon Island but we decided to go tot he first one first. Maybe this year we will go to St Simon island. Many friends like it there. It is about 5 hrs drive for us, I think. Can't wait for my beach vacation this year. DD has a blast last year since that was her first time at the beach.
Pancho : What brand of pasta did you get that doesn't enriched with anything? As I mentioned below, I only found Davinci organic pasta which is without anything "enriched" and it costs a lot. It would be great to have other options. Thanks.
More question on Cheryl enriched 100% pure durum wheat semolina. I see them almost on all the pasta in the Publix. The ingredients are 100% pure durum wheat semolina enriched with niacin, ferrous sulfate (iron), thiamine, mononitrate, roboflavin, folic acid. I see them all the time on many brands. I used to buy one from Davinci that only have 100% pure durum wheat semolina with nothing enriched and it costs slightly less than $3.00. I was doing research on glycemic index a while back and came across "spaghetti enriched with protein" has the lowest glycemic index of...I think 28 or 38 (don't have time to do the search now) compared to 100% pure durum wheat semolina or ww pasta. My question is : What is protein enriched? Is it the "enriched" pasta Cherylco asked about or is there another type? I know enriched is no-no on SB wonder about this one.
Thanks. Got to go now. Be back tomorrow. Night all.

Morning everyone - hope all is well. The sun is shining here and it is about 33 degrees. Not bad - but there are reports of a lot of black ice on the roads and several, several accidents. Not good. WIW was okay - 121 - up a pound from last week, but I really think it is fluid retention from TOM - which will be here in a few days. At least, that's what I'm trying to convince myself . . .. I'm actually not too worried. I may not be losing in pounds, but I must be losing in inches because my pants are starting to hang off me. My husband, lovely man that he is, commented yesterday that "your butt is like really disappearing" - now how romantic is that!!! And my mother commented on my face being thin the other day at church. So, the scale may not be reading a weight loss, but my body seems to be and that is A.O.K. with me!
Once I figure out how to change the size of my digital pictures, I will try and change my Avatar to a self-portriat - just so you can place a face with the name! And DEB - I haven't forgotten about sending you pictures of my painting. Perhaps this weekend . . .
Okay - gotta fly - will check in soon -

Okay, so NOW I can say GOOD WEDNESDAY MORNING:wave:
Only have a few minutes to post a quickie, sorry, ELI is off today and we are going to leave the house a bit earlier than the norm. We both have a list of things to do before we have to go get the kids from school this afternoon. Hoping to take my car in for a much needed and 1K mile overdue oil change and check up of everything else before I hit the road with BOB for the SB GET TOGETHER!!!!:spin:
Heads up for anyone who loves to read PREVENTION, or any other magazine for that fact. I was able to get PREVENTION on line for my Dad for his birthday - 4 year subscription for $20.99 (had to pay tax because seller is in FL) - less than $6 a year! I think mine is up for renewal now, so will probably do the same for myself.
Anyhow, will try to get caught up with the posts tomorrow. When MICHAEL comes home it's near impossible to get on the computer unless I happen to walk buy and he's in the bathroom, or eating dinner:shrug:
Computer is giving me trouble, wonder what's going on - trying to send mail, it won't send - hope my Aunt didn't send me a virus in all these e-mails she's sent me!
Oh, and yes, that little incident yesterday with BOB - anyone care to speculate how I handled THAT situation???:^: Thankfully, it worked out - she had me scared sh:censored:less!!!!:fr:
Okay, shower is calling my name, have to be ready to go in an hour.

Good morning! I'm happy to say that I'm a loser this morning! 221, down 1.5 pounds from last week. It feels so good to see the scales heading down again. The increased exercise and watching my portion sizes seems to be working for me! :D I was starting to get depressed from the plateau...
DH had an audition with the local community theater group on Monday. He didn't get a prinpipal part, but is in the ensemble. The play opens in May.
We have a "lovely" coating of ice on everything this morning. Slippery as all get out , accidents all over the place. I made it to work, but the parking lot is slippery.
I've found what looks like pretty good pasta in the organic/health section of the grocery store. I forget the brand right now.
Made chicken fajitas last night, mostly because I found WW tortillas. they came out good, and there's even some left over for tonight or tomorrow.
Deb - sounds like you're running again! Fortunately I don't have to run around with my kids too much. One DS has an orthodontist appt tomorrow, but that's it for this week.
Hope that everyone else is a loser or maintainer this week!
Talk to everyone soon,
Barbara

Goodmorning, well im not a big loser for the week but for the month i did good!! :D I lost 1 lb this week. I have lost a total of 14 lbs for the month!!! I went from 207 to 193. It feels great to be under 200 again. 180's here i come!!! Water drinking is good. Im down to 2 diet cokes a day..much better than the 6-8 i was drinking. Im gonna get off of here and do my pilates today for the 2nd time this week. I would like to try to get in a walk today for some cardio.
Well good luck on the scales today, if the scales dont show it go try on some clothes you havent been into lately. Ill take inches anyday...hmm think ill take my own advise and go try on my size 18's. <<<that was the joke of the day...lol
bye for now ;)

Morning everybody. It's a drizzly rainy day in Central Texas. Yuk. Ok, fell off the wagon yesterday so I'm dragging myself back up today. Had Mexican food for lunch, tacos and way too many chips. Yikes. Tonight is homemade chili and I'll probably fix a salad with that.
Who was it that was looking for WW tortillas? I can get them here in my supermarket. They are Mission Brand. They also have homemade ww tortillas periodically that are to die for. I don't think the homemade ones would ship very well, but if someone needs me to send the others, I could. Just email me.
Jackie, breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, breathe out. Please know you'll be in our prayers tomorrow.
BOB, that explains the screaching noise I heard yesterday. I can just hear Deb when you told her. Glad you got that all worked out.
Missy, Lyn and I are riding together on Friday. I'm meeting her in Houston and I hope to leave there by 9. According to Mapquest it shows the driving time as about 5 1/2 - 6 hours from Houston and has us going Hwy 90 from Lafayette through Morgan City to Thibodaux so I guess that would put us there about 3? Does that sound right to you? Would you shoot me an email with your phone #? Deb was supposed to send it to me but with all of Narda's hoopla I guess she forgot, ahem.
Mary and Shirley, are either one of you on our way? I've got plenty of room, provided that Lyn really has worked on her packing skills like she promised.
Just over 2 weeks. Can't wait.
Have a great day everyone. Talk to you soon.

I read that book "Good in bed"
I think it was pretty good!
If you want to send me your picture I'll resize it for the board. cherylco@optonline.net
I can tell when I'm doing good because my DH start's bringing home crap food. Last night he brought home a box of Entiman's honey buns. Rat fink.
I didn't touch them because I was experiencing heartburn from my moms cookies LOL I love losing inches! Way to go!

I understand your frustration. My condition is an "Orphan Disease" and we have no research being done either. It sounds horrible to say because you don't want to wish illness on anyone but the only way these types of conditions get recognition is if a movie or TV personality or their family member gets it. Look at what Montel has done for MS! And Michel J. Fox did for Parkinsons.
Pancho
I know the the Barilla pasta has it in small letters in the front of the box.
Kenjw
I like the WW pasta but there are times when I don't want to make both (my kids don't like the WW) so I want to make sure about the enriched business!
Woodfrog way to go on the 1.5!
Ok finally got off that 210! Down 2 pounds to 208.
My water tricks:
I drink at least 4 bottles of the Aquafina 16.9 water bottles a day. If the stuff is on sale I'll buy a couple cases and I also buy gallon jugs of Poland Springs to refill my bottle.
I don't drink it cold because room temperature is better for your system and easier to guzzle.
I keep my bottle on my kitchen counter and guzzle half the bottle first thing (even before coffee!)
I have the Discovery challenge journal where I mark off every bottle I finish.

Good Wednesday morning!!! I was at 120.5#, so the numbers are slowly returning to where I think they should be. We will then go out of town for 3 days, and I'll probably go back up a few, but I am going to enjoy myself, and work at it when we get back. I am going to call the Telluride chamber today and see if there is a place good for kids. WE always go to Durango, and although I love it there, I'd like to go somewhere else this time. The Telluride hotels are catering to couples, especially since it is Valentine's weekend. It will be fun to let them play in the snow.
To everyone who is going to fruit's for the SB reunion/get-together, I hope you have a fabulous time. I really am sorry to miss it. I hope you are all safe in your travels. I will be anxious to hear all about it!!
Deb: Have we given you enough crap about posting the wrong day??? You know we can do that because we are all so perfect  . Glad you were able to help BOB find a way to get out of work; that would have been so disappointing for you both.
Teensy: Thanks for the enchilada sauce recipe; I can't wait to try it. Do you just wrap your meat mixture in whole wheat tortilllas and cook with sauce and cheese?
Ken: I usually buy 100% durham whole wheat pasta. The last time I was at Whole Foods, I found their brand of 100% semolina pasta (not enriched). I am anxious to try it. I can't remember what it cost, but somewhere around $2.50, I think. Do you have a Whole Foods there?
Suzy: It's nice to see that butt disappear, especially having birthed two children. I used to not have much of a butt, and it's nice to see it, slowly but surely, returning to a smaller size; I doubt it will ever look like it did pre-kids. I got a funny/nice compliment at the gym the other day; an older lady asked me if my rear-end was inherited; she said it was fabulous, and if she lived to be 120 years old, she'd never have a rear-end like that. If she wasn't in her late 60's/early 70's, I'd be worried that she was picking up on me  . It was nice to hear though.....it re-affirms that your hard work is paying off. It would be great to put a face with a name.
Wood: Congrats on the 1.5#'s; that is fantastic! Keep up the great work with exercise and portion control.
Vmoore: a 14# loss in a month is fantastic. The more of a gradual loss, the more it tends to stick. Too many people get in such a rush to lose that they end up gaining it back. You are doing it the right way!!! That's the amount my sister has lost in the past month too, and she is really happy about it. She said she doesn't feel deprived at all. I am her #1 cheerleader!
cheryl: Contrats on the 2#'s and the great water consumption....keep up the great work.
Jack-K: I prayed for you last night before I went to sleep and again this morning. I will continue to pray for you throughout the day and tomorrow. What time is your procedure tomorrow? ((((HUGS)))))!!!!
Lane's pictures have been in for a few days, so I need to go pick them up today and get them out in the mail, since she is now almost 19 months.
I have my first test next week in this class, and it's going to be a tough one. It covers 4 chapters, and I am so not ready for it. I will be cramming over the weekend to get my studying in; it has been so long since I have taken a test. She said that we can leave after the exam, there will not be any additional class....I'll probably be there the full 3 hours anyway.
We do have to list all the foods consumed in one day and compare to the food pyramid; s/b interesting. There is a government site that you can go to and plug in your food intake, and it will make a pyramid of what you eat and compare it to the "norm." If anyone wants the site, I can post it, but don't have it right here. I am sure my bottom of the pyramid will be distorted since I don't eat the recommended 6-10 breads, cereals, grains per day.
Well, Lane needs to be changed, so I better run.
Have a fantastic day.

Happy WIW everyone!! I had my first exercise class last night, I went to water aerobics with my housemate and I loved it. It's been forever since I was in a pool and I forgot how freeing it is, and how hard stepping out and feeling gravity take over again is. Plus, I can't sink into my tub and get all cozy, I'm too big for it. A huge pool of warm water was wonderful.
Plus, I did my weigh in and i'm at 438, down 9 lbs from 447 last week. Doesn't seem possible, but the scale is reading accurate, and I have been OP. ( i only bought good groceries..and then I ran out of money, so no snacking!) My total since starting again back in December is 27 lbs, and my total weight loss since last May is 49 lbs, from 487. I'm only 7 lbs heavier than when I flew to Hawaii 4 years ago. YAY!!
I know, I'm going on and on, but it seems amazing to me.

Jackie--I am driving to the university at 11 so will be praying for you during my drive. Actually, I probably will be leaving her a little earlier. Are you on EST or CST? I'm thinking Central. I suspect those of us who will be having a colonoscopy will have to take the same thing you are. Hope it is not too bad.
I'm still on my liquid diet. Had a milk shake for lunch. My only solids since the weekend have been some applesauce. I've fixed some jello for this afternoon. Lots of tea and water are filling in the gaps. I don't feel very hungry but this definitely is not sugar busters!
Pancho--good luck on your test. What course are you taking?
All you gals going to Fruit's--have a ball. I wish I could go, but just getting my DH's blessing to go to France was a miracle and I'm not gonna push it. Actually, you can eat very well in Louisiana and stay on SB. And that's eating somewhat cajun, too. There are all kinds of fish and shellfish. Blackened fish came from K-Paul's (Paul Prudhomme's) restaurant in New Orleans. BBQ shrimp is the greatest, totally different from what the rest of the states consider BBQ. Not all that tomato stuff, but lots of butter and spicy powders. The shrimp come with the heads and shells on. Peel-em yourself! Delicious. Even the jambalaya, with its delicious conbination of ham, sausage, chicken or shrimp, tomatoes, peppers, celery and onions can be totally SB legal if made with brown rice. And less rice and more "other stuff." Gumbo is totally legal if you don't have a bunch of the rice. And the south always has good veggies. The desserts can be a downfall however, but if you stick with baked apples or poached pears you can stay totally legal. Try to avoid the bread pudding. It is fabulous if you want to sabotage yourself. I don't think I've ever had bread pudding any better than that in NO. Good luck y'all and someone come back with a loss. In fact, here is a challenge. Figure your group weight--the total pounds of all of you added together--right at the start of your visit. Then right before you come home, figure it again. See if you can end up with a loss for the total group. Even a 1 pound loss will be great. Then, let us all know how you did. And drive safely!!
Monet--Howr-ya doin'?
Here's two MM. (i'm only 2 days late)
1. What are the reasons for your actions?
2. A long journey begins with a first step in the right direction. To complete the journey successfully, keep "walking" in that same direction. Avoiding "detours" will make the trip shorter and easier.
BTW, that reminds me to congratulate you, Arcayne, because you have taken a bunch of wonderful steps in the right direction. Keep at it and before too long you will be where you want to be. Be resolute in pursuing your goal and don't let anything stop you. Same to all the rest of you all. You're doing great. Even you, Monet. We can't help it if our body "turns" on us. We are eating healthy. Just time to keep eating healthy, but focus on doing the things that will make an eternal difference while we still have time to do them. :)
Gonna go. Have to study. Have a great day.

An old rainy day here in Dallas. My DH has said that he will go with me to the mall to walk. We should have gone early but I just couldn't seem to get myself out of bed. I didn't think my weight numbers looked very good but when I went back to Jan. 1, I realized that I have lost 6 pounds since then. I am still not down to my lowest weight of last year but it is a start.
Teensybean: When can get over to the Asian market, I find that is the best place to get very fresh and very inexpensive veggies. I don't go near the back, however, where the fish market is.
Pancho: Have you tried Ouray, Colorado for a place to stay? It is close to Telluride and just a beautiful little town.
Fruit: I am suppose to have my annual physical two days after I return from :The Trip". I am going to call the office to see if I can get in to have the blood test before I leave. I'll say that I want to be able to discuss the results with the doctor. Ha! I certainly don't want to mess up the par tay factor! Trish is picking me up in Houston about mid morning on Friday. I am not sure how long it takes to actually get to you house from there. Next week we can see about what the weather looks like for packing.
Melf: I can hardly wait to see you and get to talk to you in person. We had such a good time last time we were together. Are you going to bring your needlework? I will bring my knitting although we probably will not have much time to sit. I will need mine for the car trip to Fruitloupes.
Arcayne: Hey! Good news on the weigh in. I thinking snacks are my downfall so maybe just not having them around would be a good idea for me.
Deb: Oh, yes, I am feeding Ray more than he even cares to think about eating. It will be interesting to see the blood test results (for both of us) from the lower fat and lots more walking. I told him you were thinking about him.
Trish: My daughter said I can leave "stuff" at her house so if my packing looks out of control.....we can start tossing. She is suppose to be in Dallas three days after I return and she can bring it with her. Really, we can talk next week and compare notes on what we think we need. You probably will take me seriously this time!!!!HA!!!!

HiedieHo All!
Been busy with my usual things. Today I've stayed home. DIL has had diarhea for over 24 hrs. This a.m. she is, of course, weak. Told all the bad stuff had to be out, time to take Imodium! It did help but she still isn't up to snuff. She did keep in soft boiled egg and toast for lunch. Remember I told you she went to a herbalist? He told her she had a parasite and prescribed certain herbs. She called him today and he said it's very rare but she could be having a reaction; said to stop taking them a couple of days and then take only half the prescribed amount. So we will see. I really thought she might have to go to Emergency Care Clinic if it didn't stop. I always feel that if you get diarhea you should let it run it's course awhile as there is a reason your body is trying to get rid of something. But there reaches a point.............
Hard poll this week, I love soft boiled eggs but also like to concoct omelets, then there's sunny side up. I finally voted sunny as they are the quickest nd easiest to do in a pinch when I don't know what to have. I love eggs period!
I have "skimmed" the posts.
MONET: Yours really sticks in my mind. I hope all will work out. Most doctors don't recommend surgery, it's a last resort thing. You are in my prayers. Have you talked with doctor about your sepression? Or you on meds for it? Sounds like you really need something.
FRUIT: What a great father and stpmom you have. I have a step too and she is not the wicked witch of the west either. To think they would invite a bunch of broads tp their house aand have no connection with them other thean their DD! Believe it or not, Deb's wagon is going to pick me up. I'm only about 1.1 mile off 10. Only has to make one turn off 10 and then another onto my street. I's SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!! I get to meet the dungeon mistress and Bob at last!!! Then the icing to meet all the rest of you when we arrive! I could make a pan of lasagna, freeze it and it would travel well. Would that be okay?
Want to go check on DIL. Will try to get on tonight. If DIL is better will go to choir practice.
JUST 16 MORE DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Take care, Shirley

Good afternoon everyone. I stepped on the scales this morning and was not happy.....up 4???? Tom is due any day....so I sure hope that is the cause. Eating has been good, and I have gotten in my exercise.....so????
My aunt went home from the hospital on Monday afternoon, and went back in this morning. I am still waiting to hear from Mom what is going on now. I can't believe how serious this is.
Snowing lightly today. I am not doing too much. Catching up on bill paying and doing some figuring on the Income Tax. Looks like we will be getting a nice refund. Helps to pay for the mooring of the boat.
Keng-- I posted the recipe a couple of weeks ago. I will go back and see if I can find it.
Suzy-- I agree with you on the inches, losing them is what makes you smaller!! Isn't it nice when people notice?? Congrats on getting smaller!!
Deb-- Have fun running around today.
Wood-- Yipee, Yahoo!! You are a loser today!! Congrats to you.
V-- A pound is a pound is a pound! We take everything we can get here. Congrats on being a loser too!!
Trish-- We are only human.....glad you hopped right back on.
Cheryl-- Way to go girl! Great loss!!
Country-- Hang in there! Slow and steady wins the race. I am sure that it will start moving again.
Pancho-- Yes, that is all I do. Chicken makes excellent ones too. If you want a little more flavor in the sauce, you can add some chicken boullion cubes. Enjoy your trip, and hope the girls have a great time playing in the snow.
Arcayne-- FANTASTIC! You are doing great. Exercising and losing weight!! We are so very proud of you.
Jack-k-- New tatoo's huh?? My dh ended up having to drink that stuff twice, for his last surgery because it ended up being postponed at the last minute. Yuck!! God Bless and know that we will be thinking and praying for you tomorrow.
Gator-- Are you feeling any better?? Is that why you are on a liquid diet??
Yellow-- Wow, six pounds in a month is nothing to sneeze at!! Good job.
Monet-- (((((HUGS))))) I am so very sorry that things are not going well right now. But I do know that those two methods (Colt 45, and Smith and Wesson) are definitely not an option. Look how far you have come since you first started Atkins the first time. I know it has been a constant struggle for you, but you HAVE done it. And I just know that once he gets your med right, it will happen again! Praying for you to find some comfort.
Sef-- I hope you ladies have a wonderful time together! I wil be thinking about you all.
Ta ta for now.

P-A-T-H-E-T-I-C what does that spell? My name! Geez, I can't get a grip here. I'm constantly wanting to eat! I can't get full, satisfied. I'm too scared to step on the scale. I know I'm up because my pants were tight on me this morning. Anyway, not much going on.. got pissed off all over again when I saw on the news that homosexual marriages got the OK, but CHD Awareness isn't important enough. Gotta love America.

I am eating dinner while I do this and I know that it is way too late - but given the choice of eating healthy late or not eating at all and chancing getting through the night, I feel confident that I made the right one. The boys are finishing up watching 7th Heaven and then are heading to bed. I, in turn, will be heading for the hot tub (as in tub full of hot water  ). I still haven't figured out what I'm wearing for work tomorrow, but don't even care - I'll figure it out in the morning.
CHERYL: I will email you my photo. I have tried desparately for the last hour or so and keep getting a message that an error occurred while uploading. I give up - I saved it as a PNG file, so it should be the right size, but you seem like such a computer expert, I'll give you a shot at it. It is nothing fancy, just me and my little guy (the older son took the photo), but with this new camera, I just love experimenting! Glad to see someone else read Good in Bed! Wasn't it awesome? Have you read her other book - "In Her Shoes"? It is about two sisters who are totally different that the only thing they have in common is their shoe size. A movie is going to made out of the book and Cameron Diaz is rumored to be playing one of the leads! I really enjoyed Jennifer Weiner's style of writing - easy reading, but kept you interested! My sister actually got me hooked on her . . we are all book lovers in my family!
PANCHO - Sounds like your weekend away will be great. I'm sure your idea of taking the kids to play in the snow is comparable to New Englander's version of going to Flordia for the weekend in the winter! Have a great time!
TEENSY - Sorry about your scale - I'm sure it is TOM . . . Thanks for your praises on the inches!
WOOD - Congrats on your loss and on your son's acceptance! Are these twins you are referring to? God bless you if they are - financial aid? Perhaps Deb can give you some pointers!
HEARTMOM - Sorry to hear about your day again today. Perhaps your emotions are getting the best of you and are taking over your eating control? Hang in there - try to focus on something positive.
MONET - Have to tell you that I did not enjoy reading your post. Frankly, it frightened me. Colt 45s and Smith and Wesson are NO joke. I am so sorry that you are in the position that you are in and hope that you find the help you need. My MIL suffers from depression, so I can somewhat understand how you are feeling. If you have a therapist, please, please give them a call. You really need to talk to someone about your feelings. Please know that you are in my thoughts (((hugs))). And please - no more jokes about the guns. Hang in there and try to find something positive in your parameters to focus on . . . Anything is possible if you put your mind to it.
COUNTRY - Hang in there girlfriend . . . you can do it!
DEB, BOB, SEF, MELF, and everyone else who is headed to FRUIT'S - Have an awesome time - take lots of pictures, savor your time together, have a safe trip and know that there are many of us who are envious of your upcoming weekend! Have a great time!
and lastly - JACK-K - I know that you may not read this before tomorrow morning, but you are in my thoughts and prayers and I know that you will do okay tomorrow. May God bless you and watch over you . . .
Okay - I think that is it. I'm sure I have missed someone, please forgive me. I need to get the little guys off to bed.

Hey everyone!
I'm in the middle of watching American Idol - so here's another quickie!
TRISH & LYN: I so look forward to seeing y'all on Friday! We will be able to go to a parade that night! I'll get you my phone number through e-mail. :)
SHIRLEY: I'm glad DEB is picking you up - that way you don't have to travel by yourself. Lasagna sounds great - we may not eat it Friday night - since we'll be doing a parade - but we can eat it Saturday! :)
BOB - There are only certain towns where you don't need your shoes here! HAHA! We are a high class town - so you should at least bring your flip flops! LOL!
Ok - back to the boob tube!

I am running so late this morning so this will be drive-by. May be able to add to in once I get to work as my boss in is Court most of the morning. Things here are about the same . . . managed to stay OP last night despite my cravings for sweets. Had a diet coke while I was in the tub and it seem to do the trick. As you can see I have changed my avatar. This is me with my little guy, Daniel. My older son, Ryan took the picture. I wish there was a way to make them clearer, but I think b/c the avatars need to be so small it is difficult. In any event, should be able to give you somewhat of a face to put with the posts . . .
CHERYL - thanks for your help with my avatar! Couldn't have done it without you!
JACK-K - Prayed for you last night and will continue to do so throughout the day. Am anxious to hear how things go!
Okay - will check in again

Hey everyone! I did a quick skim of the board but this will be quick and I have a lot to do today. Since this is an election year, I'm afraid this will happen a lot!
Jackie-11:00 today I will be saying a prayer for you. I know everything will go well and you will wake up with no cancer and brand new perky boobies--I'll alert Justin Timberlake! LOL! Seriously, you know I only want you to be healthy and happy and you will be.
Monet--Sorry to hear the discouraging news. I understand the frustration and am so sorry you are having to go through this. It s**ks!!!!!!!
BOB--Did you order anything? I wanted that expandable makeup case but didn't call before it sold out. I'll watch online or Janice to see if I can get it. I hope they find that little girl alive. I have an 11 year-old niece . . .
Everyone else--sorry I can't respond personally to everyone--I'll try to get back on when I get a little breathing time, but probably not today!

Goodmorning everyone,
Just a quickie before I saddle up and go out to do some field work.
The sun is out and it should be decent, but we're supposed to get snow again after midnight tonight...scrapbooking is also tonight, and I have enough pics to work on for a couple of evenings.
SuzyB156 - Yes, my boys are twins, and I'm doing the financial aid forms this weekend, they're due the 15th. And I love the pic of you and your son.
JackK - Positive energy all day!
Have a great day everyone, I'm jealous of the get-together you all are having, maybe next time!

Good Morning Everyone:wave:
Just spent over an hour on the computer as well as the phone trying to get these flowers for JACKK ordered for delivery tomorrow. All of you who I have an e-mail address so got my e-mail, or at least hopefully you did (though I don't have HEARTMOM'S new addy, so I know you didn't get it). Anyhow, was having trouble with the website as it wasn't accepting my coupon code no matter how hard I tried. I finally had to call the company and was put on hold forever, hung up and called back, finally got through to someone who could help. Was finally able to get them ordered and they will ship out this afternoon and arrive to JACKK at the hospital tomorrow. For those of you who did NOT get an e-mail but would like to help in paying for these, please e-mail me and let me know that you are interested in chipping in, it's really minimal and at this point, with those who have let me know they are interested it's going to be less than $3.00 a person. If even more people are interested, it will be less, so I'm giving it a day before I e-mail everyone the total. I sorta feel weird, being it's such a small amount. This way, we all have paid part of this and it's from all of us:D KaBloom Those of you joining in the SB GET TOGETHER can pay me then, others, if you have a paypal account as I do, you can donate that way and then of course, there's the old fashion way of snail mail.
I purchased a dozen rainbow roses from a website called KABLOOM. I chose this site not only for their price, which I thought was excellent, but that they were offering a free vase for orders placed before VD, and of course, will be needed to put the flowers in as they are delivered boxed. Also, there was a 15% off coupon (does that surprise anyone???), so the total with overnight delivery was $43.74
You can view the website by clicking the link below:
http://www.kabloom.com/index.aspx
On that page you will see the RAINBOW ROSES, those are what I ordered.
THEN, starting tomorrow, since she'll be out of it today, on the hospital site, there's a link so we can all send e-cards to her individually. The hospital staff will deliver them, so no risque sayings, as others WILL be able to see what you've send. I thought we could innundate her with well wishes!!!:D AGAIN, PLEASE DO NOT SEND THESE TIL TOMORROW, OR EVEN OVER THE WEEKEND IS FINE I will also e-mail a reminder about this to all on my e-mail list tomorrow. Here's the page to send the e-card and her last name is
GRAVES

Okay, well, I know this is an old story, but I've wasted 1 1/2 hours getting this done and I have to run out and get a few things done today, so no time to get on the board to post to everyone - truly sorry, but I just don't have the time at this moment - old same story. Will try to do my best to get some normal post on soon.
Trying to get back on track with my eating, went off the other day and didn't stop, trying to get back to normal, was doing so good before:shrug:
Okay, gotta run - just wanted to fill you in on the lastest info on the e-mail I sent to most of you.

Morning everybody. Well, the rain has moved through (yikes thunderstorms last night) and it's supposed to be sunny and 65 here today. Crazy Texas weather. My chili was awesome last night. Had a few Triscuits with it. And a SF popsicle for dessert. Forgot my breakfast to bring to work this morning, though, and I'm starving. Have a luncheon meeting but I should be ok there. It's at a decent steak place that has good fish and salads.
I'm gonna try and get in a few replies before the boss busts me (heehee).
Cheryl-WTG on getting the water in. It's so important and definitely one of the things I need to do better at. I have to have mine ice cold, though. I love my water at home, we have a reverse osmosis system attached to our water softener so I do good when I'm at home, just forget when I'm at work.
Crystle-I'm with ya girl.
Nat-Good luck finding a place in Colorado to stay. That sounds like a lot of fun.
ChrisD-Hope you had fun with Grandma.
Arcayne-You are awesome, girl!!!! Keep up the good work. We are so proud of you.
Jack-K-I know you won't see this, but still sending prayers your way this morning.
Gator-Wish you could join us.
Lyn-Carrie and I are going to reform your packing yet.
Shirley-Hope your daughter is doing better.
Teensy-Hi, there. Cool that your getting a tax refund. I'm still scared to check ours yet.
Heart-OK, here's the same advice I gave Jackie, breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, breathe out.
BOB-I heard this morning that they have his car, too. I can't even imagine the anguish those parents must be going through.
Wood-Congrats to your son!
V-I know what you mean about those carbs. That's my downfall too.
Suzy-Cute pic.
Missy-Shoot I missed American Idol last night? I was watching the Horns basketball game.
Deb-Thanks for taking care of the flowers for Jackie. That was so thoughtful of you and I'm glad you thought to include us.
OK, I think I got everybody covered. If I missed someone, please forgive me. Talk to ya'll later.

Hello ladies! I cannot believe its Thursday already! I was able to get a little excersise done but not much. I was on such a good streak..then my GM came yesterday and threw me all off...thats all i need is for something to throw me off then its all down hill. I was able to get my push ups and crunches and leg lifts in today but not the Gazelle. I needed to clean my house as I wont be home tomorrow...and thats usually my cleaning day. Eating has been great for me...I wont go on the scale this week, because I screwed up so bad on Sunday...so i figure I will go on next week. I hope to be down to at least 206.
Right now JACKIE should be in surgery...I am praying for her, im sure the rest of you are as well. DEB thanks for getting us in on the flowers. Thats great, and she will love them..I went to the site, they are very pretty! Definitley a good choice.
Well my mother got all her tests back...and they surgeon did indeed screw her up. He made 3 very big mistakes in her gastric bypass surgery that she had done Oct 2002. She just got word from her insurance co. that they will NOT pay for her revision, they will only cover her Hernia. She is a wreck and not sure what the heck to do at this point. She called me hysterical crying...I dont even know what to say to her anymore. Its like the surgery that almost killed her was a total waste of time. Anyway...will let you guys know whats happening with that!
Well I gotta go get in the shower...Im off on a mission today to get something to wear to a birthday party on Sunday. Its a fancy dinner thing and everything I have is too big...so I have to go buy somehting. Dominic should love this! :)
Have a good day everyone...sorry no replies right now.

Jack-k- I'm thinking of you!!
DEB- my email addy is heartmom2boogie@peoplepc.com
BOB- I watched a little of the Bare Minerals, unfortunately I can't afford it. I really liked the eyeliner. I would love some concealer that would actually blend into the skin instead of staying on top of it and settling into my fine lines and creases. And some foundation that goes on lightly but covers up the redness around my nose area.
Well, I faced the metal monster today- I'm up 3 pounds. Back into the 170's,ugh. Last night I was doing good with supper and then totally blew it and nosedived into the chips. And I'm not a "chip" person. I was craving(and still am) chocolate and it was the only thing around. This morning I made a big protein meal. 4 slices of NSA bacon and 3 medium eggs. I'm hoping the protein will eventually kick in and take away some cravings and curb my appetite. So far it's not working. I'm even constantly thinking about food. The weather here is very gloomy. Cloudy, rainy, thundering, and windy. Suits my mood, lol. I need to get in some exercise today..so gotta go..

Hi! Im thinking of starting SB this weekend! Im really hoping this will work for me! I just had a baby 3 months ago and have already lost the 35-40 lbs I gained during my pregnancy without dieting or exercising. But now Im stuck at my prepregnancy weight. Id like to lose 40-50 lbs now. :)
Any helpful hints on getting started? I have the Blue SB book that I bought a year or so ago so I plan on following this. What are good snacks? Nuts?? Veggies?
Thanks!

Jackie-- I have been thinking about you all day. I know everything is going to be okay. ((((((HUGS))))))
Good afternoon to all you Sugar Buster's!
Been busy cleaning house and doing a bit of laundry today. Not much else happening. I have a boneless roast out that I am going to put on the showtime rotisserie tonight. Dh picked up some asparagus, so will have that with my usual dinner salad.
Hasn't snowed yet today.....but sure does look dreary. Hope that the snow is about done for the year. It sure gets tiresome.
Well, on to some replies......
Suzy -- You are a beautiful woman and your son is a living doll!! So nice to meet you!
Fillise -- Good afternoon to you!!
Wood -- Hello!
Deb -- Great idea! I did email you to count me in. Will also do the card thing tomorrow.
Trish --Your chili sounded so good that I am going to make some venison chili tomorrow for the pot luck on Saturday. I will have to start looking for some SF Popsicles, they sound good.
V -- You are doing a great job of getting yourself healthy!! And losing weight at the same time, isn't that wonderful??
Chrisd -- Oh, my gosh....your poor mother. Please let her know I am praying everything will be okay. Isn't it wonderful when you have to buy new clothes because all of your are TOO BIG!! Congrats on that.
Heart -- I wish I knew something that would help you. I know how frustrating it can be. Hang tough......and take it one day at a time. Maybe cutting out most of your carbs for a couple of days to detox?? Just an idea....don't know if it will help or not.
Cheryl -- Hi !!
Calla-- Welcome to the SB board. This is a great way to get take off those unwanted pounds and get healthy. I use my fruit servings as my snacks. Sometimes I will have a handful of nuts or some celery with NSA peanut butter. And veggies are good anytime!!
BOB --I have been following the story on the news. Prayers are going out for her and her family. I am sure the whole town is devastated. Keep us updated if you can.
Well, gang, thats it for now.

WORD ABOUT JACKK!!!
Hi, I work with Jackie Graves and she asked me to e-mail you and let you know how her surgery went today. Her daughter just called me and she is out of surgery and in the recovery room. They won’t be able to see her for about 2 hours but she is doing fine and is awake looking around. Everything went well, it was just a very long surgery. It was about 7 hours long. She will get all of the results back in about 48 hours from the pathology report. I will keep you informed of her progress if you would like me to do so. Thank you.
Also, got confirmation that the flower have been shipped. Hope they arrive nice and fresh and beautiful!!! Will let you know when I get the confirmation they have indeed arrived at the hospital.
Begged for my 5 minutes and that's about all I get - will get on here tomorrow.
Real quick CALILILLY http://members.aol.com/eldemila/sb_sign3.jpg Since I'm not able to type much at this moment, I'm sure the other gals on the board will not only welcome you, but happily answer ANY questions you may have. By the way, you're in good company, you have a lot of Floridians on this board, including myself:D I always say it MUST be something in our water! Whereabouts in Central Fl are you? We have people in Orlando, Jax, Sarasota, Tampa, and Miami, surely I forgot someone out there, not intentionally though.

Hi guys:
It has been a busy few days. I have managed to get to the gym 3 days this week and will go on Sat. a.m. as well.
I had to take Britt to her Gastro specialist after school yesterday which put us in rush hour traffic. We then were up early and to the Naturopathic doctor. This 'venture' is getting so expensive since insurance won't cover it; I sure hope it is worth the money and we start to see some improvement soon.
I need to find some snow gloves for Lane, but all the stores here are sold out and have the summer/spring stuff out already. I don't have any of Britt's old ones that are small enough. I have rec'd the items I ordered from E-bay and they will work out great (ski bibs for Britt & Lane, snow boots for Britt, and a coat for Lane....still waiting on Lane's snow boots). It sure beats paying full price for the stuff.
chrisd: No problem.....I get confused all the time. Rawhide is a great place to take out-of-town guests. Best of luck to your DM; the doctor who did the surgery should pay for the cost of the revision, even if another doctor does it, which I am sure your mom is wanting. Let us know. Britt hates shopping for clothing; she always has, and she is a girl.
Arcayne: You are doing great with your weight loss; keep up the great work. Glad to hear you are exercising....it will only accelerate your losses, and help keep you toned as you lose the "fat."
Gator: This is the nutrition class that I am taking...it is called Nutrition - Concepts & Controversies....it has been interesting.
Yellow: Yes, we have stayed in Ouray and Silverton, but they are both so small with limited availability. The hotels are pretty old and small too. We found a place in Telluride, but will be paying $165 per night/3 night minimum; most places are asking close to $300 a night.
Teensy: Not just a plateau, but a gain, and you've been good....things that make you go hmmmmmmm. It will come back off and you will get to your goal, just hang in there.
Wood: Congrats to DS on acceptance to college; that is such an accomplishment; I am sure you are just beaming!! Best of luck to your other DS.
Suzy: Love the new avatar; it's just so tiny....Nice to put a face with a name. Your DS sure looks like he is having a good time.
Deb: Thanks for taking care of the flower order; she will be surprised and it will brighten up her day. Sorry it turned into such a pain in the butt.
vmoore: I take it you are liking the pilates??? I have got to give mine a try.
heart: Get a grip~you can do it!!!!! Just say NO! You've been here before, you can get past it again. You need to get into those 160's...remember Miss Aerobics instructor!
Call: Welcome to our little world. Best of luck to you. My books are Red, so I'm confused on what book you have. Check the general info. board, there was a thread started a few weeks ago that lists people's staple foods, and you will get a lot of good snack/meal ideas on there. Any questions, just ask. Congrats on the new baby!!!
Well, I really gotta run!
Take care!
Nat
P.S. I had a Boomi bar today; anyone hear of them? It was homemade with cashews and almonds & HONEY, and a few other natural ingredients but the sugar grams for the entire bar were only 3g, so I am going to indulge once in awhile. It was really yummy! Nice to have a few options.
See ya!

Hi,
I was so pleased to hear that Jack-k is out of surgery and doing well. I have been thinking about her all day.
I can't believe it.....I walked 5 miles today. I have this pedometer that works over the internet and the site has been having a little insentive program to get people to walk. If you walk a certain distance in 30 days they will send a little prize. Well, I am suppose to walk a little over 10,000 steps per day but got behind (no surprise there) and I am having to play catch up. The prize is small but it is good for me to try to achieve a goal since I am so competitive even with myself. Only 7 more days to go and it will be mine!
Teensybean: The recipe for General Tso's Chicken sounds wonderful. I have been hungry for Chinese and it is just not wise to try to go out to have it when the family is trying to cut fat as well as carbs. This is the perfect recipe for us. Thanks!
Deb: Thanks for the update on Jack-K.

Things here are going well. Work was a lot better today and I am very thankful that tomorrow is Friday! Got my little guy's haircut this afternoon after school. He stays after on Thursdays and helps the physically challenged kids do Special Olympics - which is something that he is enjoying tremendously. My oldest is in everything under the sun - garden club, safety patrol, chorus, etc. - so this gives Danny something that he can do and call his own. I had him get his haircut because on Saturday he makes his first reconciliation. Not that anyone will care what his hair looks like, but obviously he needed it anyway.
DEB - Thanks for the update on Jack-K. She has been on my mind all day - as with everyone else. I am glad that things went well. I am sure that she will be so pleased and surprised when she receives our flowers tomorrow. What a wonderful thing for you to think of . . . thanks for all the hard work. I have a paypal account (well DH does) but it is for a c.c. - so I'll probably have to send you my money via snail mail. Sorry . . . :^:
BOB - My thoughts and prayers are for the little girl and her family. May God help us to locate her safely and soon . . . with any luck. Please keep us updated - you may hear something before the networks.
PANCHO - Glad that your trip planning is coming along. Sorry that you and Britt had an exhausting afternoon.
TEENSY - We are expecting some kind of snow/ice storm tonight and all day tomorrow. Should be great with the Friday commutes. I am usually sick of winter by March. Unfortunately, with the past few years, we have had snow up to and through April. By then I am done!
CALLIE - WELCOME to the board. You will love it here - great place to meet some wonderful people and get some help with SB along the way. Good luck!
V - You are doing awesome - Congrats on your weight loss!
CHRISD - So sorry to hear about your mother! I hope that she can get the treatment and help that she needs. Please keep us posted!
Okay - need to get lunches, clothes and backpacks ready for the morning. Will check in then -
Hope you all have a great night
Take care . . .

HiedieHo All!
DIL is doing much better, she'll be able to go to work tomorrow.
Did my usual NH bit and then entertained this afternoon. It was a very responsive audience, sometimes they're not depepnding on the level of the population.
Spent time between sitting on floor (that was stupid! eventually I had to get up!) going through mt stack of LPs (you old folks remember those) looking for Irish songs and novelty tunes. Getting up a major project, I was so stiff!
When I came home after the entertaining I was telling DIL about looking for songs. That a couple, like McNamara's Band, I couldn't remember all the words. She suggested the internet as GD goes to one all the time for current music. So I found McNamara, Clancy, Mrs. Murphy's Chowder and a couple of others I saw. I need to pick two to four songs to sing for our March entertainment program. Now I can just print out words instead of typing them and trying to remember ones we don't have musin for, what a time saver that will be. Easier on my poor little brain too!
Anyway, you know how it is when you start searching for something.............it's at least an hour shot! Ate supper and did something I never do. I actually fell asleep while stitching! I might do that while reading, doing puzzles or watching TV, but never while stitching. I must have been tired. I was watching Friends while stitching, the next thing I knew ER was on!
I hope Deb relizes how much we appreciate all she does for us. So thoughtful getting the flowers, making plans for LA, doing the Board and finding so much information for us. What would we do without her?!? Thank you Deb.
Now to skim the posts. Seems that's all I managed the last time I posted.
TEENSY: Your poor Aunt is sure having a rough time. Prayers. Thanks for psting the chicken recipe.
BOB: Don't worry about the panties, if we met right now you need to worry about water wings!
WOODFROG: Newburgh, NY!! I lived about 45 minutes from there, took my DD to swim meets at Mount St. Mary, and went to an alergist too. Home of IBM. Do you live near there or will DS have to leave home? Small world!
SUZY: You were right on in your post to Monet. I told her she needed help too. Sometimes things are so overwhelming we don't seek the help we should. Cute picture.
FRUIT: I will do the lasagna. Frozen it will probably take until Saturday to thaw! I'm so psyched! Some people just seem to think we are hicks, we do wear shoes on occasion! LOL. We'll have to show them how sophisticated we can be! You know we could use forks and spoons! LOL
CHRIS: Prayers for your mother.
CALLALILLY: Welcome. Walnuts, caschews, peanuts. The usual veggies except no corn, beets, white potatoes. Triscuits, cheese, fruit, peanut butter, NSA yogurt. I'm drawing a blank now but there are others, I'm sure you'll get suggestions.
Taking a nap so late in the evening is not good! It's 2a.m. and here I am! It is raining buckets and the wind is blowing!!!
Take care, Shirley

Well, I woke up this morning and was watching the news while I made my bed. Unfortunately, there was breaking news from CNN that they found a little girl's body in Florida that they are identifying as Carly, the missing 11 year old. How awful! What a sick, sick world this can be at times. I'm sorry BOB - I know that this has been tough on you b/c she was from your area. I suppose if there is any sort of comfort, it would be that the suspect is in custody so as to stop him from doing this again to some other innocent little girl. But still . . . such an awful, awful tragedy. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with her family and all who knew her.
Okay - don't have much more to say. I'm sure the boards will be quiet this w/e b/c of all you "par tay" people going to Fruit's! Have a safe trip and remember, I expect pictures - lots and lot of pictures!
Lastly - still thinking of you Jack-K and will write you later today at the hospital.
Have a good one - remember to laugh when you can - it helps your mental state considerably! :D

Good Friday Morning:wave:
Dreary day in more ways than one down here. The news about them finding Carlie dead does not surprise me, only saddens me more. I knew she wasn't alive, it was just a matter of time til they found her, and thankfully, they did. I heard she was found behind a church off I-75 but then on the news they were saying that they weren't giving details to where she was found. I'm sure we'll be hearing more of the tragic news as the day progresses.
I don't know about all of you on the board but I just get more disgusted as the days grow long about what's going on in this world. This JJ thing, well, I'm not a prude, but something like that was bound to happen somewhere. I don't like that they have pushed the envelope with regular TV and the way they talk on there nowadays. I hate it when they think they HAVE to have a word that, to me, is still offensive to hear on television. Even soap operas they say ***** and *******. And haven't they shown Dennis Franz's butt on TV? They keep pushing it and pushing it and before long, nothing will be censored. I'm hoping that this incident that happened makes the FCC open their eyes. Want to hear that stuff, buy cable and have that option, I think.
THEN, down here, a little 14 year old boy who was in a magnet middle school for the arts, they found his throat slashed in the boys bathroom on Tuesday morning. This school is a couple miles from ELI'S store, REALLY nice area. His best friend cut his throat with a knife - with friends like that, who needs enemies! Now, you have a 14 year old in jail for first degree premeditated murder and another one dead. When LAUREN went to her meeting for the Healthy Kids Project she's doing she found out the little boy that was killed was in the yellow group, she's in blue.
THEN yesterday, two boys IN THE 4TH GRADE raped a 10 year old girl in a bathroom in a school somewhere in N. Dade. What the heck is going on with these kids????????????
Gosh, I have to thank my lucky stars each and every day that I am so blessed with my kids. I look at children running around with no supervision, kids who are so young walking along the street-maybe I was over protective of my kids, but I wouldn't let them walk alone like that ever. I always thought of the possibilities that could possibly take place. This is one reason I am home, otherwise my kids wouldn't be able to get around safely to everything they need to go to.
Okay, enough rambling, just count me in as one of the millions of disgusted parents out there that wonders if there can ever be a change to good old fashion values, simpler times and feeling safe for your kids:shrug:
My Mom is sick, my sister and a couple kids are sick and it seems I'm fighting it off too. I keep sneezing, throat's itchy, it doesn't know whether to come or go! Tired too and may crawl back in bed for a little while.
Eating sucked, well, around 8pm is started to suck, up til then it was good. I haven't journaled in quite a while so I'm going to attempt to get back in to that routine today and see if that will help me along. Honestly, I just don't feel IT'S there today, but I'm going to try and push myself to make it be THERE;)
I will check the status of the flowers later. I have a tracking number so will know when they are delivered. I hope they are not only pretty, but that they will last a long time and brighten her day. Thank you ALL for pitching in to help!!! Please remember to try and get an e-card through the hospital sent today. I just realized that they DO NOT deliver cards over the weekend and it takes 24 hours to get to her. Cards need to be sent today, before Noon to get to her in this time frame, otherwise, they won't deliver them til Monday, so please try to get this done before Noon if you want to send a note to her
https://secure.bhsi.com/www.baptisteast/ecard.asp
Please don't mention the flowers unless you already have read that I found that they've arrived - just don't want to give away the surprise:)
MICHAEL got word that he will be staying in a dorm St. Louis with a kid who seems to be from Africa, though he seemed to live in OHIO. Seems to be a VERY brilliant kid and MICHAEL is so looking forward to going even more!
I want to get this posted so you can all see it now, will go get something to eat and come back on later to try and read some of the goings on of the board.

Morning all!
It's a dreary morning here in more ways that one. We have tons of rain falling, but to wake up to the news about Carly. . . I have an 11 year old niece, so this one is hitting close to home for me.
As soon as I finish this post I'm going to send Jackie her card.
I hope everyone has a good OP day today!

Morning everyone. My heart just aches for the family of that poor girl. I hope that they string that man up by his you know what. Hearing the anguish that this poor family has gone through certainly puts some of the insignificant things in my life in perspective.
I'm going to try and go out this week-end and buy a new scale. Any suggestions?
V-Which pilates tapes do you have and how long have you been doing them.
ChrisD-So sorry to hear about all your mother is going through. Tell her not to stop with the first answer she gets from the insurance company. Obviously this is now a matter of medical necessity. Keep going up the food chain (sorry no pun intended).
Heart-Those gloomy days can really take over our moods can't they. I know how you feel. Just keep remembering how far you've come. I remember when you were trying to get out of the 190's and how frustrated you got. Look where you are now!
Callalilly-Hi and welcome. Glad you finally took the plunge and jumped in with us. One of my favorite snacks is apple with peanut butter. Nuts are good but easy to overdo or at least they are for me.
BOB-I was so sorry to hear the news about that poor sweet girl.
Teensy-Hope your chili was as good as mine. I buy the actual Popsicle brand of sf popsicles. They're in a yellow box and I think they're the best ones.
Nat-Glad you found a place to stay. Have fun!
Lyn-I may try and call you this week-end. Are you going to be around?
Suzy-What a sweet boy you must have.
Shirley-I got tickled at your falling asleep while stitching. My DH can fall asleep anywhere. Really ticks me off!
Deb-I got my e-card sent and got my confirmation back. Thanks for the link, how cool is that!
Susan (and BOB)-I'd really like to try Bare Minerals. For someone that uses a minimum amount of make-up, what would you recommend to start out with. Also, any experience from someone that has used this that has oily skin?
Well, guess I better scoot. Talk to you guys later.

Good Morning (or is it???).
My DH has his alarm set to AM, and the minute it went off this morning, they announced that they found that precious little girl's body. I had a tough time going back to sleep. I am going to change it to an FM station, so I don't have to wake up to the awful news of the day. I have often said that I don't even care to watch the news anymore because it upsets me too much. There are animal cruelty stories here all the time that rip your heart out. I don't know if any of you heard about the little girl here, named Angel (I know the story made it to CNN) who got into a car wreck with her mother, and rolled down an enbankment. She made it for 4-5 days inside this car in freezing temperatures clinging onto her mother, who had already died, underneath a blanket. I believe Angel is 3-4 yrs old. There is now a custody battle going on with the "dead" mother's current boyfriend and the child's biological father, who hasn't seen her in years. It is just a sad, sad story all around. I tossed and turned all night the night that I watched this on the news. I don't want to be an uninformed ignorant person, but I just can't handle the things that I see on the news anymore....how can any human being hurt another that way? I guess I always have to remind myself that the media focuses on the negative, and for every terrible story we hear, there are dozens of positive ones that don't make the news.
Anyway....I got Jack's card to her about an hour ago, and am awaiting my confirmation. She will love the beautiful flowers! I am continuing to pray for a good pathology report.
I am making a list for our trip; if I don't I'll forget everything. The guys have it so easy....they pack for one, while we have to pack for the entire family, and food, entertainment, etc... and then if we forget one thing, it's like, "you forgot that???? How could you have forgotten that?" We are kicking ourselves in the butt for spending that kind of money because it looks like Northern Arizona is getting some snow now and we could have gone up north here and spent a lot less. We can't get out of our reservation now.
Yellow: Sounds like a great morivational tool; way to go!
Suzy: Your little guy sounds like a pretty special kid. Hopefully he will grow up to be as compassionate as he is now. It sounds like your kids stay pretty busy. Britt doesn't really have any extracurricular activities at this time, but I am sure it will only be a matter of time.
Deb: As depressing as your post was.....I couldn't agree with you more. It is a sad, scary world out there, and I often worry about my children growing up in it. When I go to pick up Britt from school, there is a little boy walking down Union Hills Drive (a busy street here). I don't know what school he goes to, but he can't be more than 6-7 years old. He is a little blonde boy with glasses and always has a backpack on. It really upsets me....it's probably only a matter of time before I hear something on the news about him. I understand that some parents have to work, but arrangements need to be made for such a small, innocent person who could not possibly defend himself if anyone wanted to abduct him. That's only one of many stories that I could ramble on about. My parents were very protective, and I didn't like it while growing up, but the older I got, the more I appreciated it. I am ultra over-protective, and will continue to be; it's just who I am. If my girls hate me for it during thier childhood, they'll appreciate it later on. You only get one chance. It is also such a different world than even when I was growing up. Alright....enough of that. I sure hope you are able to fight off this cold, and it doesn't interfere with your weekend plans.
Well, I better go for now.
Have a great day.
Take care,
Nat

Goodday everyone!!!
Deb- I know how you feel. Its just so scary that things like this happen every day. I just count my blessings that i havent had to go through something like that. Not to be judgemental but i see kids riding their bikes down busy roads that are like 8,9,10 years old and i have to ask myself, where the **** are their parents?? I live on near a hwy and see this all the time. Its crazy to hear stuff like this on the news and see that ppl dont think before they allow thier kids to be in dangerous situations. Carly was only walking home a short distance and this happened to her. How easy it would be to get one of these children that have no supervision.
Trish- I bought a begginers workout called BalanceBall fitness with Suzanne Deason. It does 10 minutes upper, 10 minutes lower and 10 minutes abs. It helps teach you balance on the ball. I love the ball!! I was afraid it would pop under 200 lbs, but so far so good!! ;) I got online and ordered the full set of tapes yesterday. 3 videos (they have dvd) of 40 upper, lower and abs. Ive been doing it everyday for about a week now and i absolutely love it. Its slow paced like yoga, lots of breathing but i feel it working. Not painful but i feel it working. Im just not ready to go into full cardio fast paced right now and i have a friend who has lost 15lbs in 6 months by changing nothing but doing pilates. The website is www.livingarts.com , search for pilates or balanceball.

Happy Friday! It took me over an hour but I think I skimmed through all of your posts. It's been a busy board and I don't like missing it all, but when DH is off I just don't seem to have time to spend here.
Deb: Thanks for keeping us in touch with Jackie! I did get an email off to her. My email is ldblond@hotmail.com.
Heartmom and Cheryl: I can relate with both of you as my condition, though a little more known, still is unrecognized by many doctors even. In fact, workers comp is reevaluating my case again because my condition was brought on by repetitive motion and if our new Gov. Schwarzennager gets his way I'm in deep you know what because he wants to cut workers comp benefits such as pain managment. Its a scary time for me, because my injuries have caused a lifelong pain syndrome and the Gov. reforms could really mess with my medical care. I just have to have faith and trust my lawyers to do their job.
By the way, remember when I came back on board I said I was goal setting? The front yard project is complete. My income taxes are done - thanks to my dh's help. AND I lost 2lbs. at WIW. Time to set some new goals.
Goal #1 - more frequency on our board.
Everyone take care and have a good weekend.

GOOD LATE AFTERNOON EVERY BUDDY!!!
It's been a sad sad day here on the Suncoast. Waking up to the news about Carlie was just too much to bear. My whole day has just been crappy! They had to move the MONSTER because of death threats. They took him up to Bradenton, but I don't know why they think that would be any better?????
They should bring him out onto US 41 and turn him loose...it wouldn't take 1 minute....this community is in an uproar...we could save the state a lot of money that way!
She did put up a fight, but they haven't released the details on that, nor have they released any info about her being raped, but do we have to wonder? He did confess, and did tell them where she was. Of course, the rumors abound...now we're hearing that he struck a deal! HE NEEDS TO FRY!!!! They need to cut his wanger off, stick it in his mouth and sit him down in OLD SPARKY out state electric chair that they have stopped using because it sets the people on fire...
Thank y'all so much for your prayers and kind thoughts for this precious little girl. Now, I ask that you pray for the strength that her parents will need to get through this.
I'm sooooooooooo glad to hear that Jackie did well in her surgery...I sure hope that someone keeps us updated.
Sorry I have no replys for anyone, I'm just mentally worn out...Please know that I appreciate each and every one of you and if I had you here, I would hug you all!

Quick post- Sorry I didn't get on the computer earlier, or I would have sent Jack-k an E-card. When Boogie was in the hospital we got several, and I still have them. I'm glad to hear that Jack-k's surgery went well, just wanting to hear how she's recovering now. BOB- I'm so very sorry about Carly. This world is full of sick twisted people who don't deserve to have any airspace.
I wanted to report that I was 100% OP yesterday and so far today as well. Unfortunately, I won't be tomorrow. It's Ashley's Bday. Her cake is pretty and we're going to take her skating in the morning and then have a small party at my Mom's tomorrow afternoon. I'm going to TRY and skate! I used to love it when I was a kid. I hope I can stand up in the skates.
DEB- I totally agree with you. The world is falling apart. The people that still have some morals and values left need to take a stand. As long as we sit by and do nothing, it will only get worse. I no longer care if I offend anyone when I talk about God. I'm not in high school anymore, so I don't need to run with the "in" crowd. Our society keeps accepting things that aren't right, and they don't want to say no because it will offend so and so and there will be lawsuits,etc..it's crazy. So I feel ya...

BOB--I agree with you about what his punishment should be. If they did that every time some pervert acted out then maybe there would be fewer such incidents. Most men, I would say, fear for the safety of their "wanger." The bleeding heart judges don't help anything either, and I say that with the full agreement of my DH, who is a lawyer.
I've been given permission to eat things other than liquids or jello, but I have to stay away from fiber for 2 weeks. When I was sitting in the doctor's office and filling out one of those little forms you do at your first visit, I had to list my meds. There are 3 of them that I am on regularly, the fosamax, thyroid med, and the lipitor. Plus the antibiotics. H**l, I felt like my grandmother, O-L-D!!! :( Old folks are who take all those meds. I see them in the ads on TV all the time. I don't think I look too old, and I certainly don't feel old, but I certainly did today after looking at that form I filled out and learning that I am gonna be eating no veggies for the next 2 weeks. Pardon my griping. I hate it when people sit around and yak about all the stuff they can't eat because of this or that. OLD people do that, ever noticed? But now I feel like one of them. :( You gals are the only ones besides my DH who I feel comfortable letting off a little steam to. Thanks for being there.
Monet--I hope you are coming out of the blues a bit. I feel a little bit like joining you after this morning. Perhaps if we can encourage each other to continue to "walk the walk" no matter what the medical circumstances are, we can help each other see the rainbow. How about it, girl?
Pretty much did nothing today because I was so depressed. Watched the vacuous entity called "television." It is certainly good when you don't want to think. Didn't feel (emotionally) like walking or exercising. Just want to have a pity party.
When I the weekend in LA? This weekend or next?
Teensy, how is your aunt?
Well, I better get off the board. I'm usually not so gloomy and I don't want to gloom up your day any more. Y'all have a great Friday night.

Heart--We were posting at the same time. And I agree with your comments. Bravo to you. And DEBBIE, I also agree with your comments. The world is a sick place. Part of the problem is that are no absolutes anymore. They are either legislated out of existence or tossed aside by society. And, obviously, when there are no absolutes, anything goes. And we are seeing what "anything" is when we watch stuff like the sexual grinding during that half-time show, what is now considered "free speech", what the "new morality" in business management is, and even the "truths" that come from the lips of our "wonderful" politicians on both sides of the aisle. With no absolutes, morality is whatever anyone decides it is going to be. Sad.

Hello:
Well I am very happy to hear that JackK made it through her surgery - and I love that the hospital has the e-cards, what a wonderful thing to do for their patients.
This new board is pretty cool... I like the new look.....
BOB - I woke up and heard the news this morning and it broke my heart - I also thought about you knowing that it was in your home area - I feel the same way you do... just hearing the Police Sergeant's voice crack with emotion during his interview (announcement) made me cry, the newspeople, anyone with a heart, I imagine. I wish they would put a Brown Recluse spider in his underwear!!!! Let the thing rot off painfully.....eventually nature will take care of him in the way he deserves....
It makes me wonder - if we can tag our pets with microchips, have On Star looking over our shoulders for our protection in our vehicles - when will we be able to do the same for our children?
Trish - I agree the Popsicle, yellow box, SF - the best - I eat them all the time - I am actually addicted to them.... they always help keep me away from the really bad things I tend to crave during certain times of life....
Deb - thanks for all the information and your work in regards to Jackk - u did a great job - I was able to get that e-card out and delivered.... Meanwhile, I get so disgusted hearing about the same things you mentioned on the news - and they don't talk about how they will punish these monster kids who have raped or murdered - instead they talk about how we must protect and pamper these monsters because somewhere along the way they have been abused or hurt to cause them to do such a thing - such nonsense. Wrong is wrong, right is right - and I am not one to ever see grey, only black and white...gets me in trouble all the time with bleeding hearts...
Seems a storm is getting ready to slam us over here - coming from the panhandle... the wind is really whipping, and my ole hound, Fluff, is making her normal whining weather report to me...so I must get off the computer, plus get rest - Zach shared some cruddy virus with me - and tomorrow I have to get up very early and get Zach into his suit and tie, myself dressed up and hide my red nose - and need to get some panty hose too - as we have a Bar Mitzvah to run to - I wish I was healthier to enjoy it to the fullest, it is going to definitely be one heck of a wonderful celebration! I am especially looking forward to spending some fun time with all the family that has flown in for the boy from Long Island.... I am having Blackened Grouper - and probably salad...not much of an appetite since I cannot taste anything with a stuffed head...
So, Hello to all I have not responded to, I must get back to bed and good night....
Sabrina

BOB, I know you must be sick over this matter with Carlie right there in your area. What a sad thing. We had a very similar thing to happen in our area with a 10 year old name Holly about 2 years ago. Taken right in front of her house as she played with a neighborhood child. They found her body about a mile away. How sick is that. I agree these guys need to be punished to the MAX!
Deb, I agree...we must protect our kids. It IS a sick world all around us & getting worse by the day. Your kids are really fortunate to have you do all the things you do for them. Many kids don't have that kind of support & protection, even from their parents.
HeartMom & Gator, I couldn't agree more with your comments about the lack of morals in our country today. Unforunately, even when the people stand up for what is RIGHT in God's eyes, our politicians completely ignore what the people want & do as they good & well please. Wrong is wrong no matter what color or style you call it. We need to stand up & speak up every chance we get.
I was able to visit with my "Little BUG" for a while this afternoon. Can't believe he's almost 5 months old already. Took some new pics of him. Need to upload them.
Can't wait to see everyone in 2 weeks! Need to decide what to bring.

What site is the pedometer thing on?
I've been thinking of getting one of those. What kind did you get?
SuzyB
I see that the dirtbag that murdered Carly has been arrested over 13 times. I hope the lawyer who got him off for a technicality feels real good about himself today. If he was in jail where he should have been this would not have happened.
Deb
I'm with you there. I stayed home to raise my kids too. We are always broke but my kids are happy and are doing great.
I understand there are lots of moms who cannot stay home and have to work and that sucks. I think that our government needs to do something like Sweden does to make it possible for a parent to stay home and raise their kids. Before anyone freaks out, I'm not knocking working moms or saying kids in daycare are horrible. It's just my opinion that with the way things are today kids just get the sort end of the stick. Maybe I'll go into politics and start a movement ;)
Sent Jackie her card yesterday, before noon even! So gland she's doing well!
Pancho
I know how you feel about the news. It really hurts to watch it.

Congratulations on being OP a whole day! It's so hard do after not being OP.

GOOD SATURDAY ALL YOU BUSTERS!!!
We had the same storm as Sabrina down here on the SunCoast. Gasparilla has started in Tampa and the parade is this afternoon. Hoping they have good weather for it!
I'm still BLUE, but life goes on. All I can do is send good thoughts to the family now. They have been so strong through out this whole ordeal. The Mom finally collapsed yesterday and they had to call the EMT's. Her whole left side went numb, and she was having chest pain. They determined it was because she hadn't slept or eaten since this started last Sunday. She's fine now, and has been speaking with the press in a positive mode about Carlie. No news on when the funeral will be as the Medical Examiner still has her little body. They want to make sure they have all the evidence they will need to convict THE MONSTER !
His arrainment was this morning, but he elected not to attend. Probably afraid someone would blow his brains out! :s:
I needed some laughter last night, so I went to BLOCKBUSTER for my usual weekend movies to review...here they are:
SECONDHAND LIONS....Robert Duvall, Michael Caine, Haley Joe Osment
This is one of the FUNNIEST movies I've seen in a while. Don't miss it!
UNDER THE TUSCAN SUN...DIANNE LANE....I really liked this one...it's a true CHICK FLICK
LE DIVORCE...Kate Hudson, Naomi Watts, Glenn Close, Stockard Channing, Matthew Modine
LOST IN TRANSLATION...Bill Murray
CITY OF GHOSTS...Matt Dillon, James Caan
I'll let y'all know about the others I haven't seen yet!
TRISH...I'm sending you a PM about the BARE MINERALS
Talked to the DUNGEON MISTRESS this morning.
As usual, she was out YARD SHOPPING and she had found me a NOAH'S ARK pillow for the baby, and then a three piece NOAH'S ARK cookie jar which could be used in the nursery for Q-tips and such. My pile is growing in her dinning room....
I've got to run to the pharmacy and get some scripts filled for Kate...I'll be back later...

Hi Everyone
Thought it was time I checked in with you all. Nothing has changed here, still stuck around the 200 mark on the scale. I've just started doing Fitday again. I went back to check what I had been eating last summer when I had started to lose. I had got down to 191 before I started working away from home then with all the restaurant and hotel meals got up past 200 again. So I am going to plan my meals and try to keep the starchy carbs to the amount I was consuming then and see if I can start losing again. I know if I plan and do my entries on Fitday ahead of time I seem to do better. Also when I started losing last year I was getting my quota in by dinner time. When doing this I found that I didn't feel hungry in the evening and could get by without snacking. Hope it works again this time.
That's so sad what happened to Carlie. I hope they get the guy convicted and don't make any plea bargains with him. We had a similar thing happen here a couple of years ago - a young girl was picked up walking home a few blocks from her friends house and her body was founbd a few days later. Then about three months ago a nine year old was abducted from her bedroom during the night and they still haven't found her or the person who took her. I just can't imagine what these parents must go through.
Deb - Thanks for taking the time to send the flowers to Jackie and for the info about the e-cards. I sent her a card yesterday morning and the money for the flowers is ready to be mailed.
Monet - Sorry to hear that you didn't get good blood results at the doctor's the other day. I know you are feeling very depressed and I do hope that you can get some help. That sounds very drastic for your dr. to suggest bariatric surgery. I hope you would get a second opinion before even considering this. Good luck and I hope you are feeling a bit better buy the time you read this.
Gator - Hope you are feeling better and getting over your tummy problem.
I've been busy with my bread machine. I picked up a couple of good recipe books from the library so had to try a few of them. The other day I made some herb bread which can be used for poultry stuffing or croutons. I made some into croutons and had them with home made French onion soup yesterday. It was yummy. Yesterday I made a five grain bread but that went right into the freezer - I just had a nibble of the crust. I've got to lay off of it for a while as I have been overdoing it the last week or two. :ink:
Well I have to go clean up the kitchen before I head out to pick up a few groceries.
Greetings to everyone.
Marie.

I'm glad to report that my 9-year-old daughter has returned safely from her class trip to Sacramento. She has been gone since Wed. nite and had a wonderful time. With all the horrible news about Carly and other children around the nation, it was tough to let her leave my side and fly so far away, fortunately I was blessed to have 2 moms and her TERRIFFIC teacher watching over her constantly and besides having some asthma problems and the sniffles, she came home just as she left. Actually, she probably left coming down with the sniffles, as my other two little ones have it too.
Still eating well, although thinking that I need to modify my fat intake, it's a bit on the high side as I'm eating nuts for all my snacks. Going to try and substitute fruit for the nuts.
Someone mentioned watching TV so they wouldn't have to think. (Gator, maybe) anyway, since my injury a couple years ago I feel like I spend an awful lot of time in front of the silly TV and I think maybe it's so I don't have to feel or think. Especially during the days when my family is not at home. My next goal is to plan my days so that I can entertain my brain in better ways. I tell you since I stopped working, my self-discipline has been for s***. Somebody on this board said 21 days to form a habit.....it has to be my mantra....I need these new habits so I don't allow myself to let my life slip away into numbness again in-front of the stupid television, I've got my eating on track, now I want to start taking my life back. I don't want to just exsist, I want to be part of life.
I know that there are others of you who have struggled with life changing illnesses, have you felt like this?
GatorGal

IDblond--What was your injury and how limited are you in what you can do now? Is the long term prognosis that you can get any better than you are now? The reason that I ask is that, although I don't have an injury, I went through a spell a little while back where I was totally at loose ends. It was just too easy to plop down in front of the "small screen" and watch something vacuous. So I decided to make some changes and my days are much more satisfying right now. Yes, I was the one who mentioned not having to think when you watch TV.
I got out and walked with my DH this morning for 30 minutes. It felt good to get back to exercising and I know it is good for me. Don't think I'll lift weights next week, though. Want to get totally better first.
It was so beautiful for the last 2 days--definitely convertible weather. Now the news says that we will have cooler weather for the next 2 weeks. :( I can't wait for spring.

Gator: I have repetitive motion nerve damage in my right hand, arm and shoulder, which caused a pain syndrome that is sustained in my nervous system. From what the physical therapists tell me, the closest type of pain syndrome to mine would be fibromyalgia. Any how, I'm a work comp case and with no end insight. The pain had spread to my neck, back and legs. Going from a 100% career mom, to 100% home bound mom has been quite a change and I haven't quite been able to identify who I am since I've been off work or how to find a way to be disciplined. Instead of dealing with it and learning how to adapt to a different kind of "normal" life, I have just been in exsistence. I had a type of awakening a couple weeks ago and I am trying to figure out how to find my way, one goal at a time. The hardest part has been not finding support from other women. (My DH has actually been pretty terrific!) That's why I came back here when I restarted SB. When I lost my weight several years ago I was surrounded by all of you and learned so much just about how we all live our day to day lives and how each of us deals with things. Just reading the posts was helpful. I didn't expect to share all of this, but here it all is....Thanks for letting me share.

HiedieHo All!
If some of you are wandering around in cyberspace and happen to see something float by with my name, read it! It was a beautiful post I just lost! Since no one will ever know I can say it was marvelous, a thing of wisdom, interest and fun!
Yesterday I spent shopping. First I got my hair cut and then went to Sam's, WD and Sav-A-Center. Was pooped!!!
Terrible ending for the family in FL whose dtr was abducted. My heart goes out to them.
DEB: I'm with you 100% on what a mess the world is in. We have a case here that just broke of a teenage boy who raped several youngsters (male and female) of his extended family. When one of the children told the grandparents they ignored it. Now the boy is in jail and the grandparents are up for endangerment or some such charge. You tell kids to talk to a trusted adult and then they are not believed or ignored! Pitiful!! The world just accepts base things and then wonder how at how the JJ thing could have happened. Hope your mom and sister are better. YOU WILL NOT TO GET SICK!!!!!! You need to be healthy for your trip. According to Map Quest you have about a 16 hour on the road to make it!
TEENSY/TRISH: Have you or anyone else here made White Chili? It apparently is made with chicken and white navy beans. I love chili and wonder if it's good. My MIL had the saying that it's all good ingredients so should be fine!
PANCHO: When my son joined the Army it was the first he had been on his own. After about a year, during a phone conversation from Korea, he told us he was glad we were strict and taught him as we did. Of course, we never heard that from ourDD. But they both had spiritual and material foundation learning. Someday your kids will realize your wisdom.
LDBLOND: Isn't there nice satisfaction when we find out we have met our goals? Congratulations. You have a much more positive attitude now and will be a part of things again. There are many "mind" things you can do. That's one of the reasons I like trivia, word games and puzzles. Helps to keep the mind active and you can learn things as well. Jigzaw puzzles are good too, they take color and shape recognition, both gross and fine motor control, staregy and planning are involved too. I have to learn to do things differetnly or learn new things to do. The arthritis, neuropathy and the beginnings of carpal tunnel to mention major changes in my abilities. When I'm able to I work through the pain and clumsiness, when not I hold a pity party!!! Then like the song you pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start all over again! Good luck.
BOB: Unfortunately the guy will probably get off with a slap on the wrist. Wasn't that why he was where he was in the first place? These criminals are jailed, supposedly rehabed and then turned loose to do it all again.
GATOR: Now, now. Young people take pills too! There are TV ads for them too! If the number of pills make you old, I've been old sine I was 30!! You can vent all you want, and if want to think you're old go ahead. But I don't think so! Glad your diet has ne upgraded. Hope you're feeling better. Just watch for ther rainbow! I agree with your statement on the state of our morals. It seems the people of morals have given in to baseness. I think it's time for the pendulum to swing the other way and for people with higher values to take a stand.
CHERYL: Amen!!!
Because I shopped yesterday and only did wash, I cleaned house today. Did watch the ice skating, vacuuming during commercials! Have just about finished here, so think I will stitch awhile. It kills me that I can't do the stitching as much as I used to, my projects take longer now. But I enjoy it so much that as long as I can manage to hold a needle I'll keep on.
DS has been in Puerto Rico and id due home tonight. Put a chuck roast in the crockpot. One of our fav meals.
FFs: We need a smile!
Does a clean house indicate that there is a broken computer in it?
Why is it that, no matter what color of bubble bath you use, the bubbles are always white?
Is there ever a day when mattresses are NOT on sale?
Why do people constantly return to the refrigerator with the hopes that something new to eat will have materialized?
On electric toasters, why do they engrave the message 'one slice'? How many pieces of bread do they think people are really gonna try to stuff in that slot?
Why do people keep running over a string a dozen times with their vacuum cleaner, then reach down, pick it up, examine it, then put it down to give their vacuum one more chance?
Why is it that no plastic garbage bag will open from the end you first try?
How do those dead bugs get into closed light fixtures?
Why do we wash BATH towels? Aren't we clean when we use them? If not then what was the purpose of the bath?
Considering all the lint you get in your dryer, if you kept drying your clothes would they eventually just disappear?
Why is it that when you're walking up the stairs and you get to the top you always think there's still one more step?
Why is it that whenever you attempt to catch something that's falling off the table you always manage to knock something else over?
Is it true that the only difference between a yard sale and a trash pickup is how close to the road the stuff is placed?
In winter, why do we try to keep the house as warm as it was in summer when we complained about the heat?
Why do women always ask questions that have no right answers?
Why do old men wear their pants higher than younger men?
Why is it that inside every older person is a younger person wondering what the heck happened?
If diamonds are a girl's best friend and a dog is man's best friend, who really is the dumber sex?
Why are the needy only thought of during the holidays? Aren't they just as needy throughout the rest of the year?
Why is it that men can react to broken bones as 'just a sprain' and deep wounds as 'just a scratch', but when they get the sniffles they are deathly ill 'with the flu' and have to be bedridden for weeks?
How come we never hear any father-in-law jokes?
Why do men forget everything and women remember everything?
Do Chinese people get hungry an hour after they eat American food?
Shouldn't all married men forget their mistakes? After all there's no sense in two people remembering the same things right?
Is the real reason women live longer then men because they don't have to live with women?
If at first you don't succeed, shouldn't you try doing it like
your wife told you to?

News anchor Dan Rather, The Reverend Jesse Jackson, NPR reporter Cokie Roberts, and an American Marine were hiking through the jungle one day*when they were captured by cannibals.
*They were tied up, led to the village and brought before the chief. The*chief said, "I am familiar with your Western custom of granting the condemned a last wish. Before we kill and eat you, do you have any last*requests?"
*Dan Rather said, "Well, I'm a Texan; so I'd like one last bowlful of hot,*spicy chili." The chief nodded to an underling, who left and returned with*the chili. Rather ate it all and said, "Now I can die content."
*Jesse Jackson said, "You know, the thing in this life I am proudest of is my work on behalf of the poor and oppressed. So before I go, I want to sing "We Shall Overcome" one last time." The chief said, "Go right ! ahead, we're listening." Jackson sang the song, and then said, "Now I can die in peace."
*Cokie Roberts said, "I'm a reporter to the end. I want to take out my tape recorder and describe the scene here and what's about to happen. Maybe someday someone will hear it and know that I was on the job til the end." The chief directed an aide to hand over the tape recorder, and Roberts dictated some comments. She then said, "Now I can die happy."
*The chief turned and said, "And now, Mr. Marine, what is your final wish?"
*"Kick me in the ***," said the Marine.
*"What?" said the chief. "Will you mock us in your last hour?"
*"No, I'm not kidding. I want you to kick me in the ***," insisted the *Marine.
*So the chief shoved him into the open, and kicked him in the ***. The Marine went sprawling, but rolled to his knees, pulled a 9mm pistol from his waistband, and shot the chief dead. In the resulting confusion, he leapt to his knapsack, pulled out his M4 carbine, and sprayed the cannibals with gunfire. In a flash, the cannibals were dead or fleeing for their lives.
*As the Marine was untying the others, they asked him, "Why didn't you just*shoot them? Why did you ask them to kick you in the ***?"
*"What!?" said the Marine, "And have you jerks call ME the aggressor?!"

For any women who might have wondered, "What is marketing?"the following analogies will help clear it up.
You see a handsome guy at a party. You go up to him and say, "I'm fantastic in bed." - That's direct marketing.
You're at a party with a bunch of friends and see a handsome guy. One of your friends goes up to him and, pointing at you, says, "She's fantastic in bed." - That's advertising.
You see a handsome guy at a party. You go up to him and get his telephone number. The next day, you call and say, "Hi, I'm fantastic in bed." - That's telemarketing.
You're at a party and see a handsome guy. You get up and straighten your dress. You walk up to him and pour him a drink. You say, "May I?" and reach up to straighten his tie, brushing your breast lightly against his arm and then say, "By the way, I'm fantastic in bed." - That's public relations.
You're at a party and see a handsome guy. He walks up to you and says, "I hear you're fantastic in bed." - That's brand recognition.
You're at a party and see a handsome guy. You talk him into going home with your friend. - That's a sales rep.
Your friend can't satisfy him so he calls you. - That's tech support.
You're on your way to a party when you realize that there could be handsome men in all these houses you're passing. So you climb onto the roof of one situated toward the center and shout at the top of your lungs, "I'm fantastic in bed!" - That's spam.

Bubba was fixin' a door and he found that he needed a new hinge, so he sent his wife Mary Louise to the hardware store.
At the hardware store Mary Louise saw a beautiful teapot on a top shelf while she was waiting for Joe Bob, the manager, to finish waiting on a customer.
When Joe Bob was finished, Mary Louise asked how much for the teapot.
Joe Bob replied, "That's silver and it costs $100!"
"My goodness, that sure is a lotta money!" Mary Louise exclaimed. Then she proceeded to describe the hinge that Bubba had sent her to buy, and Joe Bob went to the backroom to find it.
From the backroom Joe Bob yelled, "Mary Louise, you wanna screw for that hinge?"
To which Mary Louise replied, "No, but I will for the teapot!"
Take care, Shirley

Hi,
Still busy with my knitting and walking. I finished my little hat and walked 4.6 miles today. That's about all I did except talk to my lovely daughter and mother on the phone.
Cherylco: I have a Sportbrain but I can not recommend it at this time. When I bought mine several years ago, you just had to buy the unit and you were able to track your activity online. For about 9 months to a year the site was down (it was sold to another company that revamped it) and now you still have to buy the unit (which was expensive...around $100) and pay a fee monthly or yearly. The pedometer is useless unless you can view it online since it does not show steps on the unit itself. Since I already had the initial investment and I enjoy it, I have stayed with it. I have tried several other pedometers but never found one that I really liked.
Deb: I hope the sore throat did not go any further. The sad news is that is how mine started. I hope you get out a lot better. I do thank you for all the work you do for us on the board. I can hardly wait to thank you in person.
I am off to see what I will fix for dinner. Bye

Good evening ladies
Just a short one again! Today I went with 5 friends to New Orleans to see our Mardi Gras float. We started off a little nervous because we had to drive through the ghetto! HELLO! We were scared out of our pants! Then we had some lunch and did a little Mardi Gras shopping. On the way home - we were joking with my friend that was driving about how bad she drives....she was scaring the crap out of me! I'm a bad passenger because I've been in 3 relatively bad wrecks so unless i'm in control...you know...nervous nellie! Well, not 5 minutes after the conversations - we got hit from behind. My friend just got her expedition when I got my tahoe in June. We were at a red light, completely stopped and a dude just slammed into the back of us - he never hit his brakes. So, needless to say - I'm sore as **** tonight! Noone was seriously hurt - thank goodness! We are all just sore - necks and backs. Shoot - my legs even hurt! So, what a day we have had!
DEB: Call me tomorrow afternoon. I should be here..the only place I have to go is to the store for groceries. I'll be sleeping late due to the fact that I'll be drugging myself tonight. Last night we didn't go to bed until 3:45 and I was up at 7:00 this morning to go to New Orleans. So, needless to say, I need to catch up on some winks. I'll probably be even more sore tomorrow...hopefully not though. But, give me a call, if I'm not here, leave me your home number and I'll call you back.
2 MORE WEEKS TIL the PAR-TAY!

Well, I finished my marathon day of 3 basketball games, reconiliation, grocery shopping and Mass. I am wiped, but am planning to work out anyway. Tomorrow we are having a dinner for my sister for her birthday. I'm cooking  - and I say "cooking" lightly. I'm doing a roast in the crock pot with veggies and a salad. My other sister is bringing the cake, but I'm planning on making some SF pudding b/c I don't trust myself. :s:
FRUIT - I'm so sorry to hear about your accident! However, you may want to get checked out at the hospital/doctor. Although our work at the office is basically family law, I have done a few personal injury cases and I'm afraid it sounds like that you may have whiplash. Especially the part where your legs hurt. Please take it easy - you may be sore for a week or more.
CHERYLCO - I understand your frustration with the dirtbag in Florida getting off on technicalities. Unforutnately, the problems lie a lot deeper than with the defense lawyer. Our whole judicial system is screwed up - from bad lawyers to dirty cops to Judges who take bribes - and it isn't just the legal environment either. We have sick people who can't get proper health b/c of health insurance requirements, etc. This is the world we live in and I think we can all agree it isn't pretty. But this is life and we have to make the best of it and cherish what we can while we are here. I believe that Florida has the death penalty, so with any luck (and a good, smart jury - unlike the jury on the OJ Simpson case - need I say more?), the scumbag will get it in the end. And as for Carlie - well I can only pray for her family and hope that she is in a far better place than this world here on Earth.
Okay - I'm going to work out now. Hope everyone has a good night.

Monet--I wanted to send you an e-mail but your address no longer works. Could you PM me your address. OR Fillise, do you have it. I haven't seen Monet on the board for a couple of days and I just was a little worried about how she's been doin'.

Just a quickie as I go to sleep - got that cold more on the coming side than the going side it seems tonight.
I wish I had EVERYONE'S phone numbers so when I am unable to get on the board I can call once in a while to stay in touch. Free nights and weekends make it so easy. If I don't have your phone and you want to chat, e-mail me it any time ( Debelli@AOL.COM )
ELI is off tomorow and we are having a family day and going to the MAM (Miami Art Museum) to see the scholastic art exhibit and how Michael's documentary is exhibited there. Will be shopping for a few items he'll need for his trip next week and out to lunch. Monday, another interview after school for UPENN, thought they were over.
I'm pooped, ELI'S already asleep, so I will join him in the snoring room:rolleyes:
LOVE TO ALL!!!:grouphug:

Hi everyone....
This is my first posting, and I just want to say that SB is the ONLY thing I can live with. I have tried the "low-carb" plans, and ended up with kidney damage as a result. I love the fact that SB is a "right carb" woe because I have more energy than EVER :^:
SEF: I have made the white chile (aka chile blanco) many times, and my family LOVES it! I use great northern beans, though. It is to die for...
I am a bit confused about the bread issue: what are the dirty words to look for on the ingredients? enriched? bleached? ...also, how many "right carbs" are allowed? My weight loss is slower than I expected, and I was wondering if the carbs were the culprit (legal carbs of course :o )
Thanx guys,
cessprin

Goodmorning. I didnt sleep good last night so im a little grumpy. I decided after my eating out last night im gonna do no carbs for today to jumpstart me back in.
Fruit- Im so sorry about your accident, but i would follow the advise of getting checked out. Better safe than sorry.
Gator- I to am getting very worried about Monet. Is there anyone out there who knows how to get a hold of her??? She has been really scaring me.
Cessprin- WELCOME!! Im pretty new here myself and I just love it as I know you will to. On the bread issue- good luck!! Nothing enriched. You Need stone ground whole wheat with no sugar added or any of those tricky other words meaning sugar. Im sure someone else will post the correct bread ingrediants for you.
Gotta get busy on this mess of a house. Later

VMOORE, for your peace of mind, I am posting this. My husband is taking VERY good care of me. ;)
I am continuing on Atkins as per my doctor's orders, and will be for a while. The next few weeks are going to be very busy for me, so I doubt I will be on here much, if at all. Take care!

Good Sunday morning:
It has been a busy weekend here, and today will be busy as well. I am going to try to pack up some stuff for the trip this weekend, and throughout the week instead of staying up all night Thursday night and then being tired for the trip. I have to bake some Almond cookies for DH and some chocolate nut clusters for my DM; she had surgery week before last, and I told her I'd make her some cookies.
I have this test on Tuesday, and have to find some time to study throughout the day, so I can wathc BFOF tomorrow night (priorities, I know).
I went to Bashas the other day; they are having their semi-annual buffalo sale. I spent over $90 stocking up. Buffalo tastes like beef but is leaner than chicken. I bought ground buffalo, roasts, Filet Mignon, New York Strip, cube steaks (these are good for my lunches). So, we will be BBQing some steaks this evening.
I know Jack-K is out of surgery, but don't recall reading anything else. Is she recovering o.k.?????
I don't have time for many replies...I have to get more laundry going. I think I could use two washing machines, and two dryers.
Monet: I hope you are hanging in there lady!!
Deb: I hope you can fight this cold off, and if not...I hope it is very short-lived.
Cesspin: Welcome aboard!! I am glad you found your way...this is definately the way to go. BREAD seems to be a problem for most of us when we start. Make sure it says Stone Ground Whole Wheat. It cannot be bleached or enriched. And as far as sugar grams...just make sure it is less than 3 grams (or 5, according to the newest publication). It is tough to find bread that doesn't have any sugar or other sweetener in it. Pepperidge Farms is the best I have found. It says: Unbromated 100% SGWW, and only has 2 grams sugar per serving (slice)....this means if you have a sandwich, you are only getting 4 grams per sandwich. There are others out there too...I think Aunt Hatties has some. You just have to carefully read all those labels. My fly-by grocery shopping days are over; what used to take me 20-30 minutes, now takes well over an hour. We are glad to have you!
Well, better run!!!
Take care, and enjoy the rest of your day.
Nat

Good Morning
I'm feeling much better this morning. My lower back is hurting but I think it's because I'm about to start my period - it's been hurting all week. So, I really don't think it's wreck related - just period related! HA! Thank goodness!
MONET: I'm so happy to see you post! I hope you have been feeling better! We are all so worried about you!! Don't be a stranger!
CESSPIN: Welcome! I know you will enjoy it here! We are all just wonderful people! We look forward to getting to know you!!
Ok - I'm off to pack more Mardi Gras beads and start getting my upstairs cleaned up for my company!!

Fruit - OUCH!!!! Hope the soreness goes away soon!!!
JackK - In the event someone is printing out the posts for you, wanted to say Hope you are healing quickly and doing well!!!!!
BOB - I loved Lost in Translation, I know Deb did not, hahaha, sounds like you are going to have a good weekend in with movies. I have been watching lots of French films, to help with my French - and Flemish films - all for my trip to Belgium, Paris and Amsterdam in March. I am getting so excited...I have friends who live in Europe who have made plans to meet us here and there. All those movies should help you find some fun in the weekend.
Yellow - Kudos for the 4.6 mile walk - that is fantastic... I have just started back into my walking routine. Now that my mom and dad live close by, I have been walking with them after work a few days a week, weather permitting.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

A quiet Sunday listening to Children's Bible songs as the girls are still pretty stuffed up and I knew they needed another day of rest. Lent is around the corner, so the family better be well or I'm going to take them sick! Especially when my 7-year-old makes her 1st Reconciliation on the 17th.
Fruit: I'm glad you're ok!
Have a wonderful Sunday.

Hey All:wave:
Just popping in to say I'm alive and well and living in Miami:shrug: Will be on tomorrow morning to play catchup with you all.
MICHAEL was recognized in the newspaper today for his SILVER KEY - see REEF NEWS:
Not a lot accomplished today. Went to church, that's about it. Kids went out before I did. When they came home they brought a new addition to the family. A puppy! Looks like she may have some Spitz in her. Like all puppies she's adorable. Diesel (their Beagle) seems afraid of her, tries ot avoid her, but will go behind to sniff. Bear, my huge cat, just slapped her across the face. Pup's name is Kiley, very un-doggy name!
LYN: Going to bring your knitting to LA? I will have my crocheting. Never travel w/o a project. I need strong light for my Xst so can't bring that.
FRUIT: Thank God no one was hurt! I've never driven in N.O., always a passenger - not my favorite position either. You are probably really sore today! Take care of yourself. PAR-TAY!!!!!!!!! Remember we are coming to see you and each other, NOT the house.
PRIN: Sorry I can't bring myself to type the first part! Reminds of me a not nice thing. LOL. Welcome. This Board is wonderful! It has been usch an influence on me. If you have a recipe for the chile would you mind sharing it? You do not want flourthat is enriched, bleached, processed or anything else that would alter it. Stick to plain WW flour, or stoneground WW flour. I buy sugar free bread.....Nature's Own, (can't spell the pita bread off hand) Toyfuan Pitas (something like that! Comes in WW and Oat Bran, both legal. I usually have 1 or 2 carbs a day, depending on menu for the day. Usually a cereal in morning and sweet potato, brown rice or pasta for supper. You can use white pasta if it 100% durum semolina. If I know we're having spaghetti I will save carbs for that meal. Look also, for only 3g sugar.
MONET: Please pop in now and then so we know you're fine! We don't care if you're on Atkins, we care about you!
PANCHO: Have never had buffalo. Is it more expensive?
DEB: Such a proud Mama!!!!!!!! Congrats to Michael. Alive and well? Cold is better?
Stomach is grumbling and just realized I haven't eaten yet! Time to go and remedy that!
Take care, Shirley
