I thought it was time to create a new thread, it's sometimes hard to get to the last message.
Anyway, I hope all is doing well. I've been on a mission since the beginning of the year. I still haven't weighed myself but my smaller pants are almost to big now so I'm headed in the right direction.
I'm thinking of increasing my exercise and going at lunch time. It's been hectic at work and we don't even have a lunch room so I never get to leave my office. This is starting to become stressful. Anyway, I could at least do a 1/2 hour of cardio and that would help releave tension and help the weight loss process as well. My goal is to be 40lbs lighter by May 6th, my birthday and I'm determined to do whatever it takes at this point. I'm tired of starting over and over again.
The workout was great this morning, I did 25 minutes on the elliptical and 40 minutes of the spin class. :cb: What a good workout that was.
Well, it's time to do some work and I'll write later or tomorrow.

OK ladies, where's everybody :?:
I'm feeling lonely right about now. Anyway, I hope everyone is doing well. It's been a very difficult week for me but I've managed to get through. When I say difficult, I don't mean eating/exercising, just in my personal life. I feel like I need a sedative to relax my nerves, but all will be well, I do have the faith to believe that.
I go to the doctor today for my yearly and I will probably get on the scale. I really did not want to until 2/1 but I don't think the doctor will let me slide. Hopefully, my progress will give me the incentive to continue on. I'll let you know on Monday how I did.
Tab-How's the new year going for you?
Diane-Hopefully, things are still on track for you.

Hi, I'm new to forums. I hope that I do this right. Keep up the walking at work. It really does help with the stress of the job. I have been a stay at home mom for 3 years, but I walked when I worked and I still do. If you can try adding a walking in the evenings. It helps me put the day behind me and I relax for the evening. This is not easy when you have a family to get dinner for. I have lost almost 40 lbs since Sept and the only exercise that I do is walking.

Hello Everyone...
Sorry I went MIA again. Work has been crazy and now we are having this crazy weather. I am leaving to go to Baltimore for a conference for 3 days. Then I am back in the office for a week and then I go to Atlanta, GA for a week. And during all this I am going to try and eat healthy. The hotels that I am
My weight loss has not been bad and not been good. I have been gaining and losing the same 3lbs for about a month now. It is weird. Just with all this going on with work I have been working out but not to my fullest. I have a tendency to be tired and go home early. But I plan after my trips to get better. Actually when I am in Atlanta I will be able to work out. I have made sure that both hotels that I am staying at have a gym or some type of work out room.
Well I hope everyone else is staying on plan.
Diane...I was going to try and give up tootise rolls and peanut butter...but I have already given into the cravings sooo I didn't last too long...*smile* I just need to be more careful and eat that stuff in moderation...this whole diet thing is about moderations. I will get it through my head one day.
Well I am heading out of work early to beat this afternoon messy weather we are supposed to be having.
I will chat with everyone on Monday....

Hey Tab,
Glad to see you're back! I've been missing the you girls. Anyway, things are well and the eating and exercising has been going well. I've boosted up my cardio and now I exercise for an 1/2 hour at lunch. It's a lot but I want to make my goal by my birthday in May. I do believe it's attainable.
The weather has been crazy around here. I always love when I can be off and not use leave, that's the plus side of working for a university.
Well, you have a great time away and I'm sure you will do just fine with the tootise rolls and peanut butter. We've got to have some pleasures in life.
Diane-how are you doing. I know you were having some computer problems, hopefully, they've been resolved and we'll read more of you in the future. I really would hate to lose touch with you girls, you have been a great support to me.
GardenChic-Welcome and thanks for the advise. I don't normally walk in the winter months because it's so dark by the time I get home and I live in a neighborhood that don't have street lights, something about a country style setting. So I will take that into consideration once the time changes and we have more daylight.
Until later, have a great day and safe travelings Tab!

Hi Everyone:
Kimbo I am still having trouble with my computer, I think there is some conflict going on somewhere it keeps shutting down. I get frustrated with it and don't go on the computer at all. Did you gett all the snow again?
Tab I have not been doing well at all, I went back to LAWL on Monday and one of the councelors helped me some. So I started the 3-day express again, but this time I did not use the juice I used two oranges instead, it seems a little better or maybe I am just ready. I have gained back 35 pounds of the 73 I lost so I was feeling very depressed about. Exercise and water are about the only things I have been doing right.
Welcome Garden Chic.
Have a great day

Hey Diane,
Glad you were able to get on the computer. I do understand your fustration but hopefully, with the new year a renewed commitment will follow. The good part is that you haven't gained all the weight back. That is a plus! When I started, I started back over again from my highest weight and I was truely depressed about that but I've managed to get off over 50lbs and I'm looking forward to getting rid of the last 35-40 which ever feels right. Who knows, maybe I'll continue even after that.
Life has been hard lately for me but I'm looking a head to better days. Stay encourage and I'll write later.

Thanks Kimbo! I really feel much better with this renewed commitment, I actually made it through the 3-day express with out feeling like a big grump.
At Lawl they actually have a new carb cravers menu that I thing might help me along the way. I might try it once or twice a week even though they say you can do it every day.
I think when I lose the weight I have lost that will be enough for me I want to just start maintaining for a change. Kimbo I think we are the hardest on our selves when
we gain weight back but you have come a long way and you've been keeping it off congrats!
Hi Tab how are your doing?

Hi Diane,
I believe Tab is out of town this week :?: . Anyway, it's been rough and I'm even thinking of going back to LAWL. I still have quite a few weeks left so I just might give them a call today and try to go tomorrow for a weigh-in and possibly starting over. The low carb thing sounds great for me. This is my biggest problem and I've really had to stay away from starchy foods.
Starting next week, I will be working out 2 evening with a girlfriend of mines along with my morning workout. I'm excited about that, it's so motivating to have a partner. I think it will really help me in the long run. The ladies I workout with in the morning are great but we speak and have developed conversation but nothing real lasting.
Anyway, Diane, I'm glad you made it through the 3 days, sometimes that can be really hard. Hang in there, the weekends are always the toughest for me but I am going to really try to stick to my plan.
Until next week, you have a great weekend! It has been good seeing you more frequently over these last couple of days. :D

Hi Ladies:
Kimbo so far I like the new menu at LAWL, now lets see if I lose weight doing it.
I did make it through the weekend staying on plan, I had to fight through yesterday but I made it. I have trouble with the starchy foods also but if I take to much away I start getting to edgy and when I have to much I feel like I am always looking for food and never feeling satisfied. I also found out when I went back I did not have to do the 3-day express, they only do it for two now.
So will you be working out more or just switching your exercise time?
For me I do just fine working out at home.

Hello Ladies...
I am back...but I am leaving again on the 9th to fly to Atlanta for a week. Well I did manage to work out while I was on travel but it just isn't the same. Plus....I went to dinner at night with the people I work with and they are wine drinkers and I know I should have passed but I had to have a glass. Plus we were on the executive floor of the hotel so the wine and snacks were free. We had a good time.
I am doing OK with eating. I did skip last weeks weigh in. I was chicken to go because I know that I might have put on a a pound or more from my trip. I just hope I do better in Atlanta. I think i will because I am travelling with all men. They don't snack as much as women...*smile* I hope to continue to work out. I might go weigh in this weekend. I am a little nervouse about that.
Hey did anyone see that the Luna bar now has a low carb bar. I have not seen them in the stores yet. Just on their website. They look good. I love the regular ones.
Well I hope everyone can stay on track. For me it is just hard with travelling. I love to travel but it just throws me off my schedule.
Gotta get back to work. I hope to check in again before I leave out of here on Wednesday.

Good morning ladies!
I hope all is well. I did not make it back to LAWL over the weekend but I will call this week and see how much time Ihave left. I'm just not sure, if any. This Sunday was not a good day for me, you're right Diane, when you eat to many starchy food you just want more and nothing seams to satify you. Anyway, yesterday was a very good day so hopefully, today will be the same. As long as I'm busy over the weekend it does not bother me but if I'm bored than that's another story. I already have a lot on my plate for this weekend coming up so I should do really great.
Diane--Do LAWL have low carb bars? I'm still owed 4 boxes, that's reason within itself to go back, I don't have money to give away.
Tab--Happy travelings :D! I do love to travel but I do not travel often enough. I do need to make some changes.
Well ladies, have a great and healthy day. I will try to call LA today.

Good Afternoon Ladies...
Kim...I know about craving those starchy foods....I just love them. When you do go back to LAWL they have changed alot of things. Different menus with food and all kinds of stuff...and the best part is the new payment plan. Wish they had that when I joined. It sure would have helped out. Well I am going to visit the center this friday. Still nervous trying to be good so if I did put on any weight I will have taken it off and at least weigh in the same...*smile* That is better than a gain. But I was bad for about 3 days...soooo I just don't know.
Well today is my last day at work. I will not be back until the 17th of Feb. Hope everyone has a great week...and I am going to try my best to stay on plan. The hotel has a gym...so that is to my benefit.

Hi Ladies:
Tab I have not heard about the low carb Luna bars? I wonder if they taste any good, some of those low carb things taste really bad. Tab I am really liking the new menu plan, I am feeling really satisfied with it. At first I did not think I was going to lose following it but I actually lost 2 pounds this week. I am actually finding it hard to get everything in.
Kimbo I don't know if the bars are low carb, but I know the Hot choc, the vanilla cafe, the shakes, and the drinks are low in carbs, I love the hot chocolate myself, I have it alot. Thats why I went back to LAWL I did not want to waste away the money that I spent there. I have now 18 weeks to use, I think if I stick with I will put a dent in the weight I gained back. Hope you have a great Friday.
Tab did you try the new plan or are you sticking to the old one? Have a safe trip.

Hi Diane,
I called LAWL yesterday and they said I only have stablization & maintenance available to me because my weeks were on hold for longer than a month. I will review my package when I get home today, but I was never told that, even when they called and asked if I was going to come back no one even mentioned about weeks not being available at a later date.
Anyway, I don't know if I could afford the weeks at full cost. At least not right now, but I will go back and get reimbursed for my LA lites. The payment/credit plan they have available is only for those willing to spend $300 plus dollars, anything under that would have to be paid up front. I would have to signed up for a year to spend over that amount and I really do not want to invest a lot until I'm sure that I'm going to hang in there. The representative said with my LA lites and supplements I would reach $300 quickly. And I said I do not plan on buying any more lites and I do not use the supplements. She said this is my guarantee that I would lose the weight and I told her my ability to stay on plan is my guarantee of losing the weight. Her tone was not real good from that point but that's how I feel.
I wonder will they allow me 4 weeks, this would be my time to see if I can really stick with the plan. Oh well, I don't know but I will ask tomorrow. I have a 8:30AM meeting.
I am kinda upset about losing my weeks but I will get over it and move on.
Diane-I'm glad the new plan is working out for you and congrats on the 2lb lost.
Have a great weekend! :)

Good day to all,
Well Diane, it looks like I won't be doing LAWL no time soon. :( I just can't afford it right now and since I don't have any weeks available, I am going to have to do it on my own.
That is not a real bad thing but I really wanted to follow a plan, I think it would make my life a little more easy but I can not give up now. I have come to far from where I started to turn back now and give up.
Anyway, I will continue on. Until later, have a great day!

Hi Kimbo:
I am sorry about not having the weeks left, my center is pretty good, In all of the time I have been there they never taken away any weeks. I guess I have been lucky. Too bad you did not have a doctors note or something. My mother was on hold for the longest time and did not lose any time. So they want you to buy all the weeks up front I am surprised they did not let you just get 4 week blocks or something. Its not like you get the weeks any cheaper when you buy them a head of time. So how much time did you think you had left?
Were you interested in the new plan or were you just going to follow the old plan, I seen no reason why you can't do it on your own. Your seem to be pretty honest with yourself. Or maybe you wanted the weigh in each week? I am glad you are sticking with it.
My weekend was a little bit of a struggle but I got right back on track I ended up gaining one. I will have to do differently next time I go to my sister's house.

Hey Diane,
I am sorry about the weeks myself. Others I know have never lost there weeks either. Anyway, I new I had from Mar til Oct and I did not pay full price for my weeks. The lady called me yesterday and said I should come back and we try to figure outsomething but I don't know, I'll have to wait and see.
I really am interested in the new plan. The old one was OK but I was looking for something different. I guess I better pull out the old one and take a look at it.
Anyway, I will think about it. I'm going by my sister's house this evening and everytime I go over there, I must have a plan because they eat a lot of good stuff but bad for you over there.
You are back on track so don't beat yourself up to much with this one.
Until later.... :)

Hi Kimbo:
I have the same problem when I go to my sister's house. When I am not focused its very hard staying on track when I go there.
I guess with Lawl see what they have to say you don't have to commit to anything unless you want to. It would annoy me totally especially knowing that other people have not lost weeks either and you were on hold to..

Good day to all!
Well, me and dear hubby discussed LAWL and he's OK with me going back for about 20 weeks. I think I may need more but I'm going to start with that. One thing for sure, If he see's a great lost by then, I'm sure he'll be happy to let me continue on. I will go in this Saturday for my weigh-in and start the 2 day cleansing. I'll let you know on Monday how it goes. I don't think Tab get's back until the end of the week, oh well.
Diane-How have you been doing since your return?

Hi Kimbo:
The first week two weeks I was really happy with the results I was getting but last week I did not show anything but .2 a little frustrating because I really was into working out and following plan so it was very disappointing. I have lost about 4 pounds since I have been back. Don't go by my weight lose I am a slow loser to begin with, thats why I really have to stay consistant following plan.
So thats good that your husband is O.k. with you going back, are you feeling good about it?
Its always nice to have that support at home. When my husband knows I am really trying to stick to plan he helps out, he even weighs my food for me.
Do you still work the two jobs or you did you give the other one up?
I started the 2-day express today, today has gone well tomarrow is another day, I did pick two days when I know I was not planning any hard workouts, just maybe some yoga and ab work.

Hey Diane,
I'm feeling real good about going back. I would like to have started last week but I'm just trying to watch what I eat until Saturday. That is hard!
Anyway, hubby knows nothing about diet/exercise. He's never had that problem and neither has anyone in his immediate family, so I don't get a lot of help, but he will help in whatever way possible (like money to go). But I must really be focused because he doesn't cook and he does not like to eat out a lot, so that makes it hard for me.
I am still working the P/T job but only 2 days a week and 3 days ever other week. I am tired and I told my hubby that I'll continue until April (if I can), and then I'll quit all together. My tolerance level has changed and that's my sign that it's time to go.
I am looking forward to going back, I've got it planned that I can do Mon, Wed, & Sat for my weigh in days. As soon as the weather breaks, I plan on doing some walking in the evenings.
Oh well, I've got a long day ahead of me and I'm not excited about that but I guess I better get started. Untili later.....
Have a great day Daine!

Hi kimbo:
You sound really up- beat I am gals you are looking foward to going back.
Well today was really hard for me I don't think I am going to do the juice thing unless I am really desperate. I felt really hungry this time, I don't know how I used to do the juice every two weeks. I did not even workout for the two days which I also used to when doing the 2-day juice. I just have to make it through the rest of the night and I hope I just stick to plan tomarrow after this ( can I say torture).
So have you talked to LAWL, I think they should offer you some kind of deal on the weeks or at least offer you some free weeks or something.
Talk to you tomarrow

Hey Diane,
Thanks for the suggestion about the free weeks. I will ask when I go in on Saturday, that sounds like a winner.
I have not been doing well these last couple of weeks and I know it's because of stress on my job. When I'm stressed, I eat :(, not a good thing. Anyway, I'm trying real hard to get myself together, I have a possible interview on Monday and I'm looking forward to that. My supervisor is turning into her supervisor. Sometimes you think your supervisor would stick-up for you even when she knows the other person is wrong but not so here. Everyone is about getting ahead for themselves.
Anyway, life has been tough for me lately but I am looking ahead to better days!
I will start the 2 day juice thing on Saturday, that will be a challenge! I have a lot to do so it might not be that bad running around and all.
How did you do on your last day?

Hi Kimbo:
I made it through the last day I did have an extra bar though, I was very diasappointed with the lose though .4 from Satruday.
I have really been obbessive about this weightloss, I think because I feel i have been following plan really well and I am not showing much in thw weighloss column. Today at the center she suggested not so many Carb craver days and I was really liking the new menu plan.
Stress can be trouble especially when you want to lose weight, my stress problem is my husband, I fell like he is just yesing me lately and not doing anything to follow through.
So how do you feel about the interview?

Hi Diane,
I spoke with the lady today and she said I would get a call on Monday regarding the interview. I feel good about it but I am nerves, it's been a while since I've been on an interview and sometimes I freeze up and my mind goes a blank. Anyway, I really want to get out of here bad, the stress is getting me down all the time and that's when I eat.
DH & I went on a couples retreat for V day last weekend. It was really nice and I've actually seens some changes for the better in him and I am greatful for that. Believe me Diane, I believe it's a man thing so you are not alone. We actually filled out a package rating our mates and then we gave it to each other and discussed it. It really did help us, there where things I had tried to say but he would not listen and this gave me the opportunity to get a lot of things off my chest. It's actually on a web site, I'll look it up and try to give it to you. It covered all areas of the marriage. Anyway, it will get better, I am a witness to that.
I almost hate going to LAWL tomorrow, I know that I have gained some weight but I'm going anyway. It will be the start of a new day. I am going to try and find my contract tonight, I just want to go over it and confirm the clause the lady mentioned to me.
Well Diane, Tab should be back soon, I believe(?)
Anyway, I've been exercising everyday inspite of the bad eating so that is a plus but I really want to get it in control this weekend so by Monday there will be a lost.
Oh well, life, who said it would be easy!! BUT THANK GOD FOR FRIDAY'S!!
Well Diane, you have a great weekend and hangin there.

Hello All.
I am new here having just found this site. I too am a LAWL client. I started the program on 1/8/04. I was looking to find others who were also on the program. I've lost 16 lbs thus far and have another 58 to go.

Hi Schana:
Nice to see a weekend poster. Congrats on your loss so far. Of course we always look foward to new posters and WELCOME!
I have been exercising for a long time. But when I first started, I just started one day at a time with things I could handle like walking or even stretching for that matter and some sit ups of course, then I just added on from there. I liked the changes in my body from exercise so I just kept doing it. Now if I was that consistant with losing weight I be thrilled. Kimbo and Tab are other that are here and they are just great.
We hope to see you often.

This is going to be quick...I will post more tomorrow morning...I am back and have been reading your posts....boy I feel so down in the dumps. You guys are so upbeat and it is great reading. Everyone is soooo motivated. I have not been back to LAWL since I got back from Atlanta. I am too embarassed to go. I know the scale is going to show a gain. I continue to work out but the eating has not been great. Also, it is a week before TOM...so maybe I might go weigh in this Friday or Saturday...I just need the courage ...

Hey all
My weekend was fairly good, I've been struggling today though, but trying to stay on the straight and narrow. I'm still trying to get motivated on the whole excersize thing it really seems to be the biggest struggle for me.
Boredom can be a huge problem for me at times too Diane...I haven't found a good "release" yet for that.
Question for you all...what "plan" are you on? I'm on the Purple plan....I'm not doing the carb craver thing because I like my "weekends off" too much, even though they really aren't OFF! :)

Hi everyone
I joined LAWL at the end of January. For the first couple of weeks I followed it very faithfully and lost 6 pounds. Then for the past 2 weeks, I haven't been motivated to follow the program and have been gaining and re-losing the same 3 pounds over and over.
I am just 3.6 pounds away from breaking 200 pounds which is a major accomplishment for me. I am on the purple plan, and just think I need a little extra motivation to help me do this once and for all!
Looking forward to getting to know you all

Hey all,
Diane, I wonder how come your center doesn't do weekends off, but mine still does, interesting, I think I would have a HUGE issues with them changing it on me, I would certainly not make it thru the week if I didn't know I could have a little splurge come the weekend (however small it is, it makes me feel like I'm not being denied).
I still didn't get my butt outside and walk today, but just that fact that I'm dissappointed that I didn't means something to me, I haven't actually felt that dissappointment before....so I think I might be making some progress, however small.
Frosty, looks like you and I are about on the same start period, and I too am on the purple. Somedays it's too much food, and I choke down the last bits, other days it's not enough :) no happy medium it seems for me. one thing I did do is I got the cook book, it really helps liven things up for me, I can't stand just plain ole chicken and a salad, it really helps.
Are all of you getting in the 2 LA lites a day. I don't always, not sure if that's a bad thing or not, also is anyone else taking the Tri-Max and FB500 supplements? I would be interested in knowing if anyone is having good results without them?
My husband has been eating right along with the program without actually being "on" the program as far as paying for it. I share supplements with him, but he uses Zone bars instead of the LA lites. He seems to be losing about the same pace as me.
Anyone have any really good "tips" on what works for you and what doesn't?

I take the FB 500's and the trimax, I have lost either way when I take them or when I don't. Would your husband walk with you? let him know what you want to do and maybe he will do it with you.
Weightlady The carb Cravers menu you can have once a day either lunch breakfast or dinner, there is a whole list of different foods, but when you choose to have a carb craver meal you would take away a protein and not lose any other starches from the day. Also before your meal you would take these carb craver pills , they are like starch blockers. I like it because you are still able to use your limited items in you menu.
Hi tab and Kimbo how are you doing?

Hello, ladies! It has been awhile. I am Melinda. I was on the thread Nov 2002. I found out I was pregnant in Dec and stopped LAWL. My son was born in August, he is now 6 months old. I am still breastfeeding, so unable to go back. I have 8 more weeks left with LA lites program. I call them every couple of weeks and document it, so I will be sure to get what I paid for. I am unsure how long I will be breastfeeding, but I plan on going back.
I am a stay at home mom, which is great! However, much harder to stay out of the fridge, better for workouts though. I have combined all of my weight loss info from the past 10 years and am using a little bit of each. Most recently I have tried the South Beach. I am counting points with the WW program and tracking my food. I did not want to shell out any extra money now in a new program. I have the tools, I just need to enforce them. I have been following the stay at home mom's thread as well.
A little more info than you needed, but I am back.

Diane: The first phase of South Beach is hardly any carbs, but I have been following more of the second phase, which incorporates fruits and milk. I am not by the book, but pretty much I have cereal/skim milk for breakfast, salad with meat for lunch, cheesesticks for snacks, and then meat, green veggie, and another veggie for dinner. I will have whole wheat pasta or brown rice probaby 3-4 times a week. I think it is more about limiting intake, instead of the breakdowns of food, that is what the point system in WW is like. Like I said I am just trying all of the diet plans I know.
Today was my personal weigh in day. I am the same as last week. That can account for not watching portions as much.
Have a great weekend!

Melinda:
thanks for the info, I am just having such a hard time commiting myself to any diet plan even though I really want to lose weight, all I have been doing is maintaining.
I have the south beach book maybe I will look into the second phase. This week I was trying to watch my sugar intake, I started the week out well but towards the end of the week I just started adding in to may starches.

Diane: The ricotta creme is really good and you use it with the splenda instead of sugar. Taste almost like cheesecake. Do it in all different flavors to add variety.
Have a Happy Tuesday!

Ladies:
I'm sorry I have been MIA lately. Life has certainly got a way of throwing us out of wack sometimes :) It seems that Lent is a very busy season for this girl!
I've been doing ok. I say ok because I had a terrible dieting weekend...popcorn at the movies on Friday night and my husband and I went to dinner with his parents on Sunday and I wasn't all that good of a girl. I'm dreading my weigh in this week and I've already decided to push it back a couple days. Ugh, I hate that feeling.
Diane you would be proud of me, I put on my new tennis shoes and got out walking a couple time since my last post. It's turned cold again here so I'm back to being in the warm house, but just purchased an excersize DVD today so I'm hoping I can keep things moving by popping it in, even if I can't do it all, I can at least try to do what I can.
How are things??

I am very proud of you, and to even purchase a workout dvd your are making progress. congrats. Weekends have been a big problem for me lately, I end up spending the beginning of the week getting off the mess I make over the weekend, I am going to stick to plan this weekend. It is still nice here I think its going to be our last day though tomarrow it is supposed to rain. You've done well so far with your weightloss how do you like the program and I don't think I will continue with the carb craver menu I am not finding any success with it.
Have a great day

Hi Diane and all the new comers!!!
It's good to see the board so active.
Diane, I have been working myself sick, literally, but I feel a lot better now, still on meds from the doctor. Anyway, I am writing today because I will have to leave the board for a while. I got a new job!!!! I am so happy!!!!
Anyway, next week is my last week and they have me scheduled for meetings most of the week. It's been real hard here and I am so glad to go. I will be on vacation for a week and my plans are to go to Denver CO to visit a friend, what a great time I know we are going to have. When I get back, I will be preparing myself for the new job. So it may be a month or so before I come back. I will need to get settle and see how things are there before surfing.
I will try to write next week before leaving, just to say bye!
Have a great weekend ladies.

Kimbo - Congrats on your new job. Will you be doing any skiing in Colorado? Enjoy your time off.
No gain or loss this week. Doing good with the water and workouts, but I think I need to work on the portion sizes. If the weight does not come off in the next couple of weeks, I am going to have to go to a more structured plan. Doing it own your own is too easy to slip.
Happy Weekend!

Hi Diane and everyone!
Thanks for the congrats on the new job! I am so excited, I have been cheesing :D all over the place. Trying not to look like I am really ready to go, but I am. It has been a challenge here but I am truly looking forwarded to the new adventure. My new employer has me training on Friday for 3 hours, this is my last day here but what can I do? I will go and then come back for a few hours before leaving for good.
Anyway, I leave on Saturday to Denver and no I do not plan on skiiing. I need to come back without any broken bones. Not a good way to start a new job. I am just hoping that I can go and hopefully not get snowed in while I am there!! It would be nice but I've never skied before so I do not want to chance it now. Maybe another time.
LAWL wise, not good right now with all that's going on. Hopefully, when I come back or even next week will be a different story. I have got to get focused. Anyway, I look forward to seeing an active board when I get back :) .
Where is Tab :?: I was sure I would see her writing by now. Oh well, maybe she's really busy. Anyway, ladies, I will try to write on Friday since that will be my last time for at least 2 or possibly 3 weeks.
Take care and let's try to stay focus, sunny weather is fast approaching us!!!.

I myself am trying to stay motivated beating myself up lately but I am working through it.
Melinda I hope you are having a good week.

hi all:
I am new to the LAWL system and to posting on message boards. I have a few of the most recent LAWL and Friends threads. You all seem really nice. I just started on Monday (5 days ago) following the red plan. As of this morning I had lost 5 pounds. I was pretty excited. I just hope to last on the plan longer than my typical 6 weeks at anything.

Hi! I'm new to you all. I'm debating if I want to go back to LAWL again. I've quit twice. The last time a couple of years ago when I had a hysterectomy.
I've got over 100 lbs to lose! I lost fairly well on the program when I stuck with it.
How has the program changed? When I did it, you had the first 3 days were the Express weight loss then you took off on the plan with the LA lites x2/day. I see the commercials for the carb cravers.
I am so burnt out on Weight Watchers and everything else! I just keep getting bigger and bigger. I'm 42y/o with a family and I work full time.
I'm just not sure which direction to go, but LAWL seems the best direction for now. I'm just praying about it! Thanks!

Welcome, Jani and Rann.
I am Melinda and a stay at home mom for my 6 month old son. I was on LA pre-pregnancy and I still have about 8 weeks on hold until I finish nursing my son. Right now, I am using all the weight loss tools I have accumulated over the last 10 years and trying to make it work. I have been doing this for about a month, lost 4, same and then up 2. I have lost my preg weight, but need to lose about 40 more. My major problem is the eating. I exercise about 5-6 times a week. I would exercise to eat, but it has now caught up with me.
Rann91, Good luck with the new program.
Janie61, I am not sure of the new plans, but keep in tune as the other ladies are doing it. Best of luck with what you decide.

Hi Melinda,
Thanks! Yes it's the juice phase. It's not been bad. Today I go in to see how I've done. I start the bars tonight! YEAH!!!!!
When I did LAWL the last time, you were to do the 2 oranges/grapefruit instead of the juice. I like the juice better. Less mess!
Congratulations on your little one! Aren't they great! I have 3 kids. 22y/o DS, 8y/o DS, 12y/o DD.

I was pretty excited this morning. I have lost a total of 7 pounds. That is after faltering and eating two helpings of ice cream sunday night. So I had gained 3 pounds back Monday morning, but that gained weight plus one pound was gone this morning. I have been on track both yesterday and today. Before starting LAWL I had read Dr. Phil's book. So I use some of the tactics he mentioned to combat my hunger pangs. If I get hungry at work, i take a walk instead. I try to make my food up ahead of time and then only have one portion readily available for each meal. Things like that. It seems to be going well. Like many people I have tried just about every diet out there and the results from this program are the best I have ever had.

Almost 1 week down. I go this afternoon and weigh. I'm down 4lbs. I'm having problems with my food. Getting it all in. I'm on the red plan. Did you know that 6 oz of turkey is a LOT of turkey!!!!
Congratulations rann on your 7lbs. Keep up the good work!

I have a hard time eating 6 oz of turkey or chicken at once. Especially if I don't make it just right and it is the slightest bit dry. I am trying to come up with sauces to put on my chicken that is on plan. My husband is a little anxious and missing his beef. I try to explain we can have steak 2ce a week, but he doesn't always think this is enough. I put a little tomato sauce and a slice of cheese on the chicken one night and he said that it was better than just plain chicken all the time.

I make a BBQ sauce out of ketchup and diet coke. It's legal and it's good. I fixed a small turkey breast. I will shred my 6 oz turkey and mix it with some of the BBQ sauce. Add a little Mrs. Dash and it's really good, stuffed in a pita. If I haven't had my dairy for the day I'll put about an ounce of shredded sharp cheese (lowfat) on it. It's great comfort food for me!

Janie- that sounds really good. I will have to try that. I have been going through the old LAWL threads for ideas. I see you were on the program 2 years ago. You must feel that it works or else you wouldn't be trying it again. I have tried everything in the past. It just seems like every year or so I would gain another 10-20 pounds. Now I have 70+ pounds to lose to even be considered within the top range of my ideal weight.
I try to make sure every other day I eat completely off the unlimited choices so that I have a cleansing day in between my limiteds. Especially if I ate something off program on a day... I try to work especially hard the next day to choose from the unlimited choices. I plan my menu a week at a time. That helps with my grocery bill as well. Most of the time I can stick with a eating plan for about 6 weeks and then one "cheat" leads to many more. Next thing I am completely out of control. IT ISN'T GOING TO HAPPEN THAT WAY THIS TIME THOUGH!
Good Night!

Look at this!! I'm out of the loop for a week or so and all of a sudden this place is jammin! Welcome welcome Janie and R. Ann!
Sounds like you guys are off to a great start! So glad to have more people here :)
One thing I found that helps dress up the chicken (and really any meat) is a terriyake (SP?) marinade that I got from the LA Weight Loss cook book. If you don't have it, let me know, I'll post it, but it is really yummie, and only counts as one fat, and usually I don't even count it and it hasn't really seemed to make too much of a difference, but it sure livens up chicken about the time I'm not sure I can eat any more of it :)

Hello Ladies....
It has been a long while since I posted. I have just fallen off the wagon and got rolled over, over and over again. I have been on LAWL for 16 months. I have been on maintenace for the last several months and it is hard. I think it was easier trying to lose than it is trying to maintain. I actually quite going to LAWL...just got to darn depressed. So I finally went back and to my surprise I was only up a few pounds but that is not good for me mentally. So now i am trying to get back on track. When I was following the LAWL plan I was on the red plan. I still pretty much eat the red plan except that on maintenance you can have more food. I don't have a problem with food I have a problem with sweets. I cant control myself. And ever since halloween, the holidays, valentines day and now easter...I am dying. Way overboard on the sweets...got to find something to curb those cravings...I will pass on dinner just to have cookies or candy.
I am no longer going to go to LAWL. But I still plan to follow their way of eating. After a year I am pretty use to that way of eating. I made this decision due to the fact that I was out of weeks. And it will cost me $100 to buy 52 more weeks of maintenacne. And to be honest I think...*I think* I can do it on my own. They taught me the basic steps...now I just have to do it.
So the other night at Walmart I bought my own scale. And I plan to weigh myself in front of my husband (oh my)....that should hold me accountable weighing in front of him. We made a chart so I could write down my weightloss. And my goal starting as of yesterday March 22 is to lose 5lbs by April 22. I can do that. So with my husbands help and the help of you guys here I hope I can do this. I need all the support that I can get right now.
Kim....Congrats on the new job!! You worked sooooo hard for this. I am happy for you.
Diane...Yes...I am back...with a new attitude...took some time off...got things straight and now...I am going to do this....slow and steady.
Welcome to all the newcomers...I plan to go back and read the messages so I can get caught...I look forward to posting with everyone.....We can do this...I can't wait to get to know everyone.
Well everyone have a great day...and I promise I will be active on the boards again.

Hi all!
This link is a message board at yahoo groups that I go to for LAWL people.
It's a little busier there but still slow! I need other people than just the counselors (who are great) just because I like have somewhere to go and discuss others successes, trials and tribulations!
I will have to try the teriyaki sauce! I love to grill. Sounds like a good marinade! I have the cookbook so I'll have to look it up.
I try to stay with the unlimited stuff as much as possible! I'm not really good at planning my meals. I try to figure out what I'll eat and I'll buy for a week. I do plan for some kind of good beef at least once a week!

Whew, this has been a rough year for me so far--two back to back auto accidents, lots of work travel, severe hot flashes, depression--the WORKS. It seems like I'll never progress beyond the Purple Plan. Just curious, do any of you have a professional digital scale (waist length type), and if so, where did you buy it and how much did you pay for it?

03-23-2004, 09:28 PM
Janie... I tried that ketchup and diet Coke BBQ sauce. It was excellent. I really liked it. Thank you so much.
I had a rough time yesterday and Sunday. There were doughnuts at work yesterday. All of my favorite kinds- cream filled. There were also Bagels with cream cheese. I at first chose the bagel over the doughnut, but later in the morning I gave into the doughnut as well. I just started right with the red plan, so now I am doing that 2 day juice thing today and tomorrow to undo all the damage that I did. I had ice cream on Sunday, too, that I have to "undo".
I did real well today. No problem staying on plan. I weigh in on Thursdays. I will see then how I did.
Tab- My sister is doing something similar. I don't think she is ready to follow the LA Plan, but she is checking in with me 3 times a week and reporting her weight. That way she is accountable for sticking to her diet and exercise program. So if you know the plan and have your husband watching over your shoulder for you... That should be successful. Sounds like a great idea to me.

Choufleur , I don't have the waist high one, but I do have a wonderful Tanita scale that I really like, and it seems to be right on with my professional one at my LAWL center. I got it on Amazon.
I finished the juice thing yesterday. I lost 1 pound to undo all the damage of Sunday and Monday, but nothing more. From reading others posts- I guess it isn't unusual to not lose on the 2 days, but lose later. So I will hope for that. I started at 212 and I was hoping by the end of the month to be close 200. I am at 206- So I don't think that will happen, but 6 pounds in 2 1/2 weeks is pretty great. I have set more reasonable goals going forward though. I think my next goal after that is to be at 190 by 5/22 (My birthday). So right now I just want to get as close to 200 as I can within the next week.
I was wondering- is the 2 pounds a week really reasonable for goal setting in the long run? I don't want to set goals too high and spend alot of time fustrated, but I don't want to set my goal too low either. I want to stay motivated. (Any long term motivation tips would be helpful, too.)
