Default Question

Hi Ruth,
My name is Roseblush. I have noticed that you have some good recipe ideas from time to time and was wondering if you had any good meat marinades to share. I finally bought a roast to cook which will last me for a week and need to marinade it and slow cook it to give it flavor and tenderize it a bit....any ideas? Thanks so much! I enjoy reading the posts from your group.
Thanks,
Roseblush

Ruth, you can cook! We need a marinade recipe here! And we don't want to hear any nonsense about burying it in the back yard for nine days.

I really don't have specific recipes for marinades. For beef I would just throw garlic, a bay leaf, some red wine and olive oil in a plastic bag and let the beef sit in there for a day or two in the fridge. Sometimes i throw in a bit of soy sauce and chopped ginger if I'm feeling oriental.

For the garlic I cut smallish holes in the roast and stuffed a clove or two into the meat...garlicy but good.

In the 10 yrs I have been married, I have never been able to cook a roast correctly until I got a crockpot!!! I made one for Christmas (tired of turkey from Thanksgiving) All I did was brown it quickly, sprinkled on seasonings of my liking, placed cubed up potatoes, carrots, and onions in bottom of crockpot, placed roast in with some beef stock, and then added a layer of fresh green beans on top and let it go all day....it just fell apart when I tried to take it out..I was so proud! It was yummy too!!!

Good Luck!

Rosemary with the garlic gives it a yummy flavor, too! We like that with a little Dale's marinade sauce poured over. Yum!
