Hi there. I'm new to the site, living in Ontario, Canada. I'm 28 years old and my long-term goal is to turn 30 fit and healthy.
I'm starting WW for the second time. I'm 5'6" and at an all-time high of 218lbs.
I'm looking for buddies who don't take things too seriously and share my irreverant sense of humour. I've realized that I could live a normal, happy life at my current weight... I've got a great boyfriend who loves me and I feel happy most of the time, but I know I could be so much happier and healthier if I lost the weight, so I'm really going to work hard. Last time on WW I lost about 20lbs pretty quickly, so I know it can work if I stick with it! I just need support to keep motivated and stay away from the dreaded fast food. I also can not live without cheese, so that's going to be a challenge.
Hope to find buddies in Canada and beyond. I'm online often.

I too am in Ontario Canada and would love a buddy to go through this experience with me. I am not doing WW but I don't think it should matter waht plan one is on, because they are all hard and you need alot of motivation to stay on it.

I am also at my all time high if 187.0 (I weighed myself at night after a huge meal so I hoping to show a loss next time hehe) I want to start exercising as well but the only thing I know how do is walk and since your in Canada you know what the weather has been like lately. I must really try something new though.

A buddy would help me alot in staying motivated. I am pretty much giving up Carbs (bad ones that is) and no alcohal. Trying to stay away from to much fat as well. Hope to hear from you again.

Hey Trixie and Cookie!

I'm just starting over again too. I'm only 5 lbs away from my highest. :( I'm nearly 40 (in April) and want to give myself the gift of good health. I have about 35-40 lbs of fat I'd like to lose, or be in a comfortable size 12. I think having buddies for modivation will help me a lot.

I agree we don't all have to be doing the same diet/way of eating; everyone is different and we have to find a program that will work for us.

I too am trying to give up the bad carbs. I feel so much better when I do. I have purchased some protein shake mix from a Canadian company called Kinetix (I saw them on W5). I find it difficult to get in breakfast, so I thought the shakes would help me out. I am wanting to follow the program that Kinetix has (www.kcount.com) and I want to enter their challenge (although I'm still waiting for more info to be emailed to me).

TRIXI--I like walking too, but no way with this weather. Have you tried "Walk away the pounds" by Leslie Sansone? Maybe you could try to borrow the tapes from your library to see if you like them. She just guides you thru a "walk" in front of your TV.

COOKIE--Good for you for wanting better health. I think that all together we can make it to our goals.

Thanks for the the tip about the book I will definately look into more. I also have a hard time getting in breakfast. Either I dont feel like I could eat without feeling sick or there is just no time. My first meal of the deal is sometimes at 3:00 pm and I know thats not good. One of the things I am working on still ;) I have heard of Kinetix as well. Actually I was going to DR. Bernstein for awhile but became very expensive so I had to stop. Let me know how the shake taste. I do not have a sweet tooth but crave greasy food all the time.

TRIXI---Walk away the Pounds is a video/DVD. Sorry, I forgot to say that before. The shakes are actually quite good. I have vanilla and chocolate. I'm not much of a chocolate person (except once a month :dunno: ) but this is not too sweet for me. I've had protein shakes before and they were yucky. The Kinetix ones are very good. I'm sure you know it's really bad to NOT eat. Please try to eat breakfast of some sort. And lunch! It will take time for us to change our bad habits into good ones.

How are you ladies surviving the deep freeze? It's a cold one out there. You know it's really cold when your eyelashes freeze! :D

I'm doing really good with drinking lots of water. My kidneys/bladder are finally getting used to the water--not so many trips to the little girls room :o

I did not too bad with the eating, except I REALLY wanted a hot dog late last night, so I had one. Now that craving is over and done with and the thought of a hot dog is not very appetizing just now.

I walked my son to school this morning. That's gotta count as a workout--trudging thru the snow all bundled up! It was just easier to walk than to clean off and warm up the car.

How's everyone else's day going?

hello Ladies,

I'm new to the site as well and in need of a little support. I'm not in Ontario, but I'm sure its just as cold here in Nova Scotia.

I am 22, and at my all time high of 230 (with a recent 6lb loss!!) I'm in the WW program at work and really enjoying it. I'm also doing pilates (sp?)

Would love to join in with the three of you if yo don't mind.

Cheers,

M.

Welcome MeRoMo,

As I sit here eating a meatball sub (fottlong even) I have to say that one hotdog doesn't seem so bad to me! I had a huge episode with my 12 year old cat today and couldn't fix my lunch or even have breakfast. He had to be rushed to the vet and finally when I got to work I was starving from the stress of worrying about him. Got some meds for him and have to save 900 Bucks!!!! to really see what is wrong. But he is worth it.

How is Pilates? I heard it was really hard but a great weight to trim and lengthen your body. I am going to look for the walking video this weekend. Zanne, I think you did mentioned it was a video but I sometimes not very good an intake of information when I have not intaked any food!

Hope every had a great day and stays warm!!!

Thanks for the welcome Trixi. Pilates is hard at times, but the burn you feel the next day is amazing! The first time I tried it, the next morning I felt like I did about 200 pushups.

Someone had mentioned the walking video at one of our WW meetings, and she said that she really enjoyed it....let me know how that works out, maybe I'll pick one up too.

Welcome MeRoMo! Congrats on the loss! Great start!

TRIXI--sorry to hear about your cat. Hope he's feeling better soon and that whatever's wrong isn't too serious. Now, I'm gonna be blunt--I don't think your quote at the end of your posts is very positive. Do you watch Dr. Phil? He's been telling his weight loss people that they have to change the NEGATIVE dialog that they're having with themselves. If you keep telling yourself you're that big girl in the window, you're going to be/stay that big girl. We have to have POSITIVE thoughts to help us along this journey. That's just my opinion.

I know your right Zanne...When I wrote that I was in a different frame of mind and very depressed. Unfortunately I do not know how to change it. I have turned it off for now. Thanks for the support and honesty. I think my next signature will be something more positive or I might even still yours :) cause I think it's cute.

Hello everyone!

Today really didn't start off very good....It was so cold that my car wouldn't start this morning (I knew I should have plugged it in last night....) BUT I did resist the urge to stop at Tim Hortons and get an extra larg hot chocolate :) I'm finding it really hard to drink my water today, I think its probably because I can't get warm...but I'll force it down if I have to! How is everyone else doing this lovely COLD day?

Cheers,

M.

Another cold one, eh? Oh well. At least in this neck of the woods we were spoiled with such nice weather around Christmas. I guess this is Mother Nature's way of "payback". I walked DS to school again this morning, we just bundled up. At least my eyelashes didn't freeze this morning.

I'm not doing too bad with food. My meals have been good. It's just that I get the munchies late at night and choose the WRONG thing (darned chips).

My water intake is really good. I've gotten back to at least 2 litres a day.

I haven't done any extra exercise--just walking to and from school and running up and down stairs doing chores.

If anyone is interested, Kinetix is having an 8 week challenge. You can go into their site (k-count.com) and get all the info. I've printed out the challenge booklet and will be planning meals this weekend. I think I need something like that to get me to focus more.

TRIXI--I'm glad you're now in a better frame of mind. I just want you to get healthy, so try not to have the negative thoughts :nono: I went into the User CP at the top of the page to change my sig. You can choose little things like the silly guy to go in your sig from there too.

MEROMO--Way to go in driving past Tim's! Do you not like coffee or tea? Those could be an alternative if you REALLY need something warm. With just milk and or sweetener if you use it, or a wee bit of sugar if you don't. I hope you get warm!

Back to my chores. I'm doing a really huge cleaning out of all the crap I've accumulated over the years. So far I've gotten rid of about 400lbs of stuff!

MeRoMo
01-16-2004, 02:18 PM
Normally I'm a tea drinker, but I could have used a nice cup of hot chocolate to warm me up this morning!

There is a Tim's on my way to work, and I use to stop there every morning to get a cup of tea, but not going and getting it everyday was my way to pay for WW, so now at work I just drink water, and have my tea before I leave in the morning.

I saw and interesting idea in the sig. line of one of the other members...for every pound I loose I'm going to put the same away in money. Like this week I lost 6.2 lbs, so I put $6.20 away! I think I'll put it toward my vacation fund...

Cheers,

M.

Zanne

Cool idea about putting the money away. Maybe on these really cold mornings you could make your tea at home and put it in a travel mug. I do that sometimes before taking my son to school.

Global warming my fanny!!! It was so cold this morning I didn't want my daughter to have to walk the six blocks so I kept her home. My walk to the bus stop was horrible and I missed the bus and had to stand the whole way downtown. Thank god it's Friday.

This morning I finally fugured out my cat thinks he's smarter than me. The vet told me he had a spine desease (sp) We had took him in because he was not moving his back leg at all but he was not in any pain. Any he looked like he was about to die. When we were at the vet he looked better and even walked around some (at home he was just rolling). Well, this morning I gave him his medicine and took him to his food (in the kitchen) I was still there when he finished eating and he lifted his leg and hopped back out of the kitchen. I decided to peak around the corner to make sure he made it okay and the little bugger was walking perfectly. I called his name and he started to limp again. Talk about a suck!!!! I thought it was pretty cute though.

Today I am behaving myself with food. I actually had breakfast. It is already 2:00 and no lunch in site but I hope to eat something soon. Well ladies, have a great day and try to stay warm.

Hi everyone,

Fellow Ontarian here. Nice to see familar names. I have been MIA for a week just a million things going on and no time to get to the computer.

Can I join your group?? Nice to be able to talk to fellow losers and share ideas and products we can find it Canada. The US seems to have access to stuff we can't get here :(

I am back on track and have gotten hubby to start with me. He turned 41 yesterday and although he doesn't need to lose weight he needs to get fit.

Zanne hi. How are you liking kinetex??? I am going to the site right after I finish this email. I am also heading to Newmarket to check and see if they have the shakes. How are you liking the workouts??

Well gotta go, daughter has a hockey game tonight so got a million things to do first. Have a great weekend everyone and keep warm :D

Kinda overcast today, but at least it's not so freezing cold today.

My eating is getting a bit better. I grabbed an apple for a snack last night while DH was snoozing on the couch. When he woke up, he got some chips, so of course I had to have some :o I had just a wee bowl and know what??? I really did NOT enjoy them--so that's a good thing! :D I much more enjoyed the apple.

WELCOME HOCKEYCHIC!-- Glad to see you! I think that other thread kinda fell thru the cracks when the site crashed. I still haven't completely started Kinetix program yet. I downloaded the challenge, workouts, sample menus and some recipes--I'm making up my own Kinetix binder of stuff. I haven't started the workouts, but I have been on my elliptical a few times this past week. :bravo: I think I'll be starting "officially" on Monday if I can get some menus planned and my "before" pics done.

TRIXI--how awful for you waiting for and then having to stand in the bus. When I travelled TTC, I hated winter cause everyone was bundled up and crowded. Your cat sounds just like a kid! Too Funny! (I guess not for you and the expense if he's just a hypochondriac). Keep up the good work on the food. Every little change helps.

Have a good day everyone!

How wonderful!

WELCOME HEFTY and RASPBERRY!

HEFTY--Way to go in losing!!!! you're doing something right. Keep it up. I've gotta ask--are you a guy? Under HEFTY is "Mr. Ken" but that doesn't have to mean you're a guy. I just don't want to come on and address ladies only if we have a gent on board too! What kind of veggies do you like and maybe we can give you suggestions on what/where to buy small portions. Are you talking about frozen stuff? Fresh produce can be bought in small portions.

RASPBERRY--Kinetix is a Canadian company that has put out meal replacement products (shakes and bars). Their website (kcount.com) has loads of info. They have just started up a challenge for people to enter (info for this also on the website). W5 had a show about the couple who head the company and I like that they're Canadian. The shakes interested me because I rarely manage to get breakfast, so I thought I could have a protein shake instead. I think the shakes taste good.

I am looking forward to getting outside today. Looks like it will be nice.

I've decided to start the Kinetix challenge tomorrow. It's only 8 weeks long--that doesn't sound too intimidating to me. I just have to plan some menus and I'm all set.

I've realised that once I get into the habit of drinking my water, my body craves it. I just seem to know when I want water now. I find I'm drinking water instead of eating something BAD. So this is a good thing :D

I'm dealing with a bout of plantar faciaitis (ok, I know the spelling is totally wrong). Haven't had it for about 10 years. Really annoying pain around where the arch of the my foot comes to the heel. Good thing I kept my orthotics! I haven't needed them for a long time, but I think because my boots are totally flat with no arch support, that's what's aggrevating my foot. I'll just have to work thru it and do my exercising! :tread: :strong:

HEFTY/GLEN--I see you're in Toronto, so you are not too far away from a grocery store (maybe you are and don't have a car to get around-set me straight). How about the one pound bag of baby carrots? The will actually last a couple weeks in the fridge, so you could even get the 2 lb size. One bunch of celery should be good for a week if it's wrapped in a bag. If it happens to go limp, you can cut it into pieces and soak them in cold water. My mother actually keeps cut up celery and some carrots in a bowl in the fridge so a snack is easily accessible. Lettuce--an iceberg/head lettuce should last a week if well wrapped. For loose leaf lettuces, I wash them and tear them up, put them in the salad spinner and then in a zippy bag. It'll last a few days. If you don't have a salad spinner, loosely wrap the lettuce in a towel to take out excess water.

Most veggies should last about a week in the fridge. If you only use a half a green pepper, just wrap the other half and that should keep it a bit better. You and use just a bit of cucumber at a time, etc.

Does that help at all?

Maybe if you give us sample menu of what you like to eat for a day, we can help you out a little more.

Hi everyone
Boy it is a sunny morning here in York Region. The pound I found last week was gone this morning so I am a happy girl....lol I am also starting Kinetex tomorrow I have to do alot more reading I don't quite understand how you come up with a K number but I will work on it.

Zanne I did get your email and will send you a reply.

How are you all doing???? Maybe we can incorporate a little exercise challenge for the week?? What do you all think?? Come on I know we can do it.

Zanne
01-18-2004, 11:34 AM
HEFTY---Small world. I used to live at Vic Park and Sheppard! So if you're making pasta sauce and use the whole tin/jar (I also add things like onions, canned tomatoes, peppers, black olives) and you have way too much for one meal, just divide it up into containers and freeze. Same with chili. Then you can just take out one of those containers in the morning and it will be defrosted for your dinner.

I usually buy in bulk and when I come home I repackage everything. There are 3 of us, so I'll put 3 chicken breasts or 3 chops in a small zippy bag. Then I'll put a bunch of those filled bags into a large freezer zippy bag and put it in the freezer. You could even wrap individual portions in saran wrap. Make sure to label the big bag cause once the stuff is frozen, it's sometimes hard to tell what's what. Sometimes the smaller baggies get frozen together, so I just drop the bag full on the floor :yikes: to separate the portions.

Is this the kind of help you were looking for?

Another hint--if you like marinade, add some to the wee baggy before freezing. Then when defrosted, your meat will already be marinated!

HOCKEYCHIC--Hooray for losing that pound! Don't go looking for it again. :nono: I like your idea for an exercise challenge. I'm gonna need all the help I can get this week!

I am thrilled to see so many of us here. Hefty: I live at vp and st.clair thats not far at all.

I am so glad this cold snap has finally broken and I can go outside without thinking about frost bite in ten minutes. Man its been cold!. I am up for the exercise challenge as well as the water challenge...anybdy in for drinking at least 8 glasses a day for this week? I know what you mean Zanne about your body starting to crave it. I am also officially starting tomorrow. (Was bad this weekend) I will weigh in in the moring and have vowed not to weigh myself again until the next Monday. (too depressing seeing it go up and down).

Since the thread is getting long I thought maybe it might be a good idea to start posting our group in maybe alterachicks or support groups (anyone agree?)

Zanne thanks for the warm thoughts about my cat (Bear) hes doing much better now...The meds are kicking in so I think it will be just the dental surgery for him...(500 Bucks).

I gotta tell you having all you guys so close and going through the same things makes me want to try harder and stick to the plan of getting healthier and thinner!Keep up the good work everyone and hopefully we will see more fellow Canadians here soon.

The US does seem to have more access to more products and programs but we have each other right?

Hey cat...I know what you mean about the water...its hard for me...but take it from Zanne do it for a week and you will crave it...put lemon or lime it and not only does it taste better but you have less a chance of retaining it of you miss a glass or two.

Hefti...how are the veggies..I hate raw veggies so I cook mine I figure if I eat it that way its better than none at all. I steam them so I do not lose much of the vitamins. Is anyone talking a multi vitamin? I do. (well most days anyway). I am really starting everything tomorrow I have been getting my motivation to start from you guys and I am thankful and even looking forward to it. I am going to post my progress as well as my slips...Lets all make a commitment to be honest and we can help each other through the cravings and get back on track if we need to!

In the last few years I went from having a huge amount of friends to down to very few, if any at all. I dont know what happened but I think its because I started to focus on work and family that I seemed to let people go and now I realize that I need friends in my life. What also happened was the people I considered friends were really only there when I wanted to party and now I am in a different place and need someone to talk to instead of drink with and they didnt like that too much...made them look at themselves. This is the reason I am greatful for this site. Everyone is different but going through the same thing. I feel like I have another family...okay enough being corny I got water to drink!

Hi Everyone,
I am one Day 4 of Atkins and am starting to settle in to the program.
I have met several people recently who have lost so much weight you have to ask and it seems they all are on Atkins.
Even my sister who has lost a ton of weight this year finally atmitted it was the Atkins WOE that did it.
I also really enjoy pilates and my elliptical trainer.
I lost some on WW and gained a bit back onmy vacation but need to lose another 35 pounds. Its a rainy but warm day here on the island but I feel for you Gals back East.
Bundle Up!

I hope everyone finds their way back..

Its day one for me and this morning I weighed in at a whopping 181lbs! And hopefully it will be the last time I am at that weight. I was good and brought my lunch and have dinner planned out already. My biggest challenge today will be drinking all the water. I have 3 meetings and do not want to have to run out every five minutes. But I will if I have to. MUST DRINK MY WATER!

Its a cold morning again but not as bad a last week. My TTC adventure this morning was not as bad as usual and I even arrived 30 minutes early. Well its time to start my day at work. I shall post this evening to see how are all doing.

Have a great day!!!

Hi Girls & Glen ;) Thanks for the Welcome.

Trixi, I already use the lemon and lime trick and its the only way that i can drink it  i even have it hot with lemon in the morning if i feel too cold to drink cold water :)

I've been out shopping so i've only had one bottle of water today while i treadmilled but i'll do better tomorrow..i don't want to start drinking too much of it now as i will spend most of the night visiting the 'can' and i do that enough already  While i was at Walmart i found the Kinetix range of shakes and bars so i bought two boxes of the bars to try..they are only small but i had one of the peanut choc ones earlier and it was'nt bad at all..could'nt find any peanuts in it tho' funny how the pic on the box always looks better than the actual thing.

Cat: thats great about the water. Today was my first official day back on my program. Last week I weighed myself...for motivation. I knew had I gained in the last little while but when I got on the scale I found I had gained 17 pounds since the last time I was on a diet. Man I got depressed and I immediately logged on here. Didn't do much for the last week (but the water) as today was going to be my start date. But when I woke up this morning and got on the scale (buck naked) I had already dropped 6 of those pounds! I dont know why or how it happped but Ill take it!

Today I drank all my water went to the ladies room every 20 minutes but siiting here at the end of the day knowing that I have done everything I set out to do this morning and I feel great! Work was really busy (five meetings overall) came home cooked hamburgers for the family and fish for me (saved some for my lunch tomorrow) did the dishes, put the laundry away, helped daughter with homework (she had tons) and showered and now I can sit here and relax!

All in all, I had a great day and hope you all have had one as well. My goal this week is to continue getting use to the eating (good foods) and not having any alcohal and next week my goal will be to start incorporating exercise into my daily routine (Zanne: Never got a chance to go to the library this weekend).

Hockeychic : Hope you found a recipe worth trying!

MeRoMo: Finish shoveling yet? I am lucky its the one chore I can actually get hubby to do! Though might be good if I tried it once on awhile seems like a good workout.

G'Morning everyone!

Shoveling is not fun!!! I'm hoping that's the last of the snow...(yeah right!) I did really well with my water this week, and I'm really hoping for a loss this week but I just don't feel any different, so I'm not sure how it'll be. I tend to eat everything is site when its that T.O.M. (sorry Glen, I'm sure you didn't really need to hear that :) ) so that's my excuse for the week, NOT that its really an excuse...but oh well! D-Day is tomorrow...I'm really not looking forward to it but who knows, maybe I'll suprise myself! One thing tho, with all the water I've been drinking, my face looks so much more clear then it did before....so I guess thats a good thing...not as good as a loss, but we'll see.

The sun is finally shining so I may go for a walk after work today, if its not to cold..burrr :)

Cheers,

M.

Day 2: I did really well today, drank all my water and the only problem I had was I was realy hungry this morning (which is great because I never want to eat breakfast) When I got to work I remembered I was supposed to go to lunch with a co worker that is leaving the firm the this week. So I ate my lunch for brakfast (small peice of fish and cauliflower) at 11:00 and check this out... I went to a restaurant with a great Italian menu (one of my faves) and I ordered the grilled salmon (with no sauce...sniff) and when it came it had vegatables covered in oil and rice (no oil no rice allowed!) I was so strong I pushed it all away to the edge of my plate and only ate the salmon! Very proud of myself!

I had a horrible day otherwise...Why does it seem that all the not so smart person call me in one day? I just dont get it but I was really bugged today by both clients and co workers. Usually atfer a day like this I really want to sit and relax with a beer (okay six beers) but I fought the urge and at this moment I am having a very relaxing tea and still preparing dinner. All in all It was a good day for the plan and I can cope with the rest as long as I don't have to add the guilt for cheating (cause I didn't)

I hope everyone had a great day!

Hefti: Thats very inderstanding and very unguy like (thank you)

MeRoMo: Hope otday was better for you and no more snow...did you make it for your walk?

Hi Buddies

Trixi, you're an  i would have hated to leave food that i'd paid good money for  mind you i could have left that because i did'nt like any of it including the salmon  i'm a very picky (and plain) eater. I've had two excellent days apart from not drinking water  i had to go out today and that always mucks up my water consumption and if i'm going out i don't like to drink it anyway because i'm constantly looking for a washroom  tomorrow i'm staying home so i'll make sure i drink my quota ;)

G'Morning everyone!

WOW...is all that I can say! Today I lost 4.4 which brings my total to 11.6!! AND I got the 10lb ribbon from WW (everyone was clapping for me :)...I'm such a ham)

I am so suprised! I thought for sure that I had gained a pound (or two...) So yeah, today is wonderful!

Trixi: I didn't get out for my walk but I chased my baby brother around the house for a few hours so I think that should count for something :)

MeRoMo,

Congratulations!!!!! thats wonderful. Its great when its a surprise and keeps you motivated! Your doing a great job. I agree chasing children can be quite the work out. Walking would probably have been more relaxing. My weigh in is on Monday and I dont think it will be that great but any loss will do thankyouverymuch.

Cat: I am glad I like to eat fish or else I would be stuck with just egg whites and chicken for my protein. (BORING).

I am at work now but I hope everyone has a great day! Will post more this evening.

Glen, I am not sure where smartcookie is but I would like to thank her for starting this thread. Too bad she didn't stick around.

Cat I know what you mean about finding a meal and sticking to it but unfortunately the one thing I could eat everyday for the rest of my life is Fries and Gravy (not allowed ....sniff) Eggs whites are not the greatest, the yolk it the tasty part. The only good thing about using eggs whites for my portein is I can have six of them (I do use a little butter) for one protein and I usually put mushrooms in it and make an omlet.

Today for lunch I had Broccoli, mushrooms and 3 1/2 oz of last nigts roast (leanest and dryest part I might add) Oh yeah and for breakfast I had a whole tomatoe. For dinner it was fish in totamoes and cauliflower. It wasn't so bad. Drank all my water today and now I am having a tea. This is kinda of becoming my routine. Usually by now I would be sitting on the couch watching nothing and having my fourth beer. Everytime I think about that I get depressed again. So glad I am finally doing something about it. Beer has always been a relaxing thing for me and now I have replaced it with tea and there is no way I could drink six teas or I would never sleep so I go back to water about 1/2 hours before bed. (do wake up to you now what though)

I do have to admit I am having a hard time today. My bosses were out of the office and everyone was constantly bugging me. I work till six but today I took off at four because I couldn't cope without blowing up at somebody. I really wanted a drink and was very cranky. I got into a huge argument with my fiance and had to aplogize (that hardly ever happens :) ) because I know it was because of getting use to this diet. But oh well If I can't vent on him who can I vent on. He's the only person I know who will take it! Have a great evening everyone! I think I go on chat for a little bit. The people there are really friendly and I having been logging on about the sametime every night if you ever want to join me.

Trixi, I know what you mean! I would have a white russian EVERY night, just one, but its still too much for me now. I would get home from work, clean up a bit, make supper and have my tasty treat. But like you said, now its water. It's not as hard as it was when I first started. I was having a really hard time drinking all of my water, but now I'm usually finished what I'm "supposed" to drink by late morning.

I think that seeing the actual results of my diet and WW has made it easier to resist all the yummy, sweet, tasty treat....what was I saying again :) Seriously though, last night we went to McD's and I had a chicken sandwich on a whole wheat bun and a salad and was fine with it (I did steal ONE of my friends fries tho....)

And being able to come here everyday and vent to you guys has helped so much! Thank you all!!!

Hey Everybody!

I'm not here for a couple days, the thread gets moved and is long! ;)

Welcome CAT!
Hello TRIXI, MEROMO AND HEFTY!

HOCKEYCHIC--haven't seen your name here either. How are you doing?

I'm sorry, I don't have time just now to read what you all have been talking about. I've been away for so long, I thought I'd better get my sorry butt back here to be accountable.

I haven't got into the Kinetix just yet. I'm having a hard time figuring out "k-counts" (I guess kinda like WW points). They have recipes with the counts already figured out, but not for things I may want to eat. I've tried some dip recipes and I just can't get around the texture of the cottage cheese. You're not supposed to eat fruit alone, but have a dip with it for protein and fat. I cannot get the dip past my lips. I tried, but NO way :nono: I'm gonna have to email them to see if I can just eat a piece of cheese and have my fruit. The veggie dip is the same--with cottage cheese. What's wrong with low fat sour cream and onion soup mix? :?: I like eating veggies and dip, but NOT Kinetix dip!

I had an eye opening moment today. And not a good one :( I had to buy BIGGER jeans today. And it's terrible trying them on. They're all sized differently, even when from the same manufacturer (only dif was the inseam on one style--same size waist and one pair was a bit bigger than the other!). I ranged in 3 different sizes from the one manufacturer! Oh well, I have them now, didn't spend a lot on them, so won't feel too bad when they get too BIG and I have to give them away!

I have been doing good with my water, but I have been really BAD getting in breakfast. I've dropped DS at school and then have been out shopping and don't get home till nearly lunch time. NOT a good thing. I can tell my blood sugar is low. Then I eat something bad, spike the blood sugar and then crash. I even have the shake mix cannisters on the counter! I MUST drink a shake every morning BEFORE taking DS to school. That has to be a personal challenge.

Ok, I have to get going. I'll try to catch up on all you're wonderful posts tonight.

Susanne, i really like the kinetix range ;) i'm not following their plan but i am having the bars and shakes as snacks and they really do curb my appetite :D i'm eating much smaller meals now.

Trixi, i'm saving the beers until weekends now..i used to relax in front of the telly every night and have 2 or 3 (more at weekends) but i've decided that its 2-300 extra cals that i can use on something else :hun: and i have'nt missed not having any this week :cp: so i hope it works..plus..i find that when i do have some beers it triggers a munchie attack :yikes: and i start looking for chips..peanuts etc...weigh in for me tomorrow :hyper: keep your fingers :crossed:

Hi Everyone,

I'm a student from the University of Toronto and I was wondering if you didn't mind another Canuck joining in...I'm currently going to Herbal Magic and it seems to be working really well...its basically a low carb high protein with supplements diet. I blame the frigid weather for making me want to eat serious comfort foods that are not good for you and I don't know about you ladies but no matter how cold it gets I could still eat ice cream. I think that it would be great if we could all motivate each other and the best part is that we can all relate to what's going on in this neck of the woods. I'm cheering for you all!!!

Welcome helpneeded!!!!!!!! The more the merrier!!! Life at University is not only stressful but you have to deal with the weather as well. Man there was alot of wind today!. I am not a fan of sweets but my comfort food is just as bad...The worst I do is in the afternoon after shopping or laundry on the weekend I want a nap and to get me tired enough to have one I used to have a homemade hamburger (huge) and fries with gravy...oh yeah had a beer with it and then went to sleep (Its a miracle I dont weigh more) But no more for me!

Zanne we missed you!!! Dont worry about the jeans I haven't been able to squeeze myself into any in two years! I have a pair I saved and one of my goals is to get in them again. Cottage Chesse!!!! uck! glad I am not allowed to have it!

Cat Good luck with the weigh in tomorrow hope you will be as sucessfull as MeRoMo was...but if not there's always next week :)

Glen how are you doing with the veggies?

Hockychic we miss you too.....come back to us (did you run off with smartcookie?)

Today was actually a good day for me....no headache and I drank most of my water, saving some for tonight. I have these strips that I bought at the drug store that test your urine to see of your burning fat (keytones) and I was! After only fours days thats pretty good...so I am glad! I had my chicken for lunch and it was actually good. I got a spice I know I am allowed and it made a huge difference to the tatse. I had someone ask me today if I lost weight but I think it was just the outfit I was wearing...but I'll take it ;).

Hope you all have a great night and talk to you tomorrow.

Trixi, just what plan are you on? i'm just curious :nose: because you say that you can't have this and that  are you doing Atkins? I let myself have anything but in moderation ;)

Cya tomorrow for the weigh-in :yikes:

Trixi
01-22-2004, 11:19 PM
The only thing that I found that really works for me is if I give up all the bad carbs (bread, pasta, rice and potatoes) and only eat lots of good carbs. Mostly I eat as many vegatables as I want (except peas, corn, and carrots) and for protein I have fish or chicken and (beef once a week). I do use butter so that I will have fat in my diet as well and eat salmon. I drinks lots of water and take potassium and b5, b12 and a multi vitamin. I did try Atkins but felt really guity for eating all that fat. I have also cut down on caffine. My body hates fruits, I am allowed them but they make me really hungry and crampy so i stay away from them. There are tons of stuff I am allowed but also in moderation. I am staying away from dairy for now (except for the cream in my decafe. Cant give that up) I know it sounds like I cant have anything but mostly I am just missing stuff I want and crave and I like to complain :) alot. I actually find myself eating more now than when I wasn't on a plan. I usually didnt eat until supper and then I pretty much gorged myself until I couldn't move off the couch. In just four days I have a bigger appetite and I have more engery. Once I lose a good portion of the weight and have exercise in my daily routine I will incorporate carbs back into my diet slowly...things like whole wheat pasta (man that will taste like heaven and sweet potatoes etc. I have to keep convincing myself that its a life change and not just something to do until the weight comes off cause I do not want it back.

I hope you have a great weigh in tomorrow and the scary face will be a happy one! I am rooting for ya!

G'Morning all you wonderful people :)

I did the worst diet no-no....I ate an entire DONAIR!!! That is sooo going to put me back a few days :( I guess I'll have to be especially good for the rest of the week!! It was so good as I was eating it but as soon as I finished I felt so guilty, so I guess the guilt part was good.

My goal this week is to loose at least 2 pounds, I know I've lots more than that in my last two weigh ins, but I think I'll be lucky to get that this week.

How is everyone else doing?

Hi Everybody...Thanks for being so welcoming.

Trixi as soon as you mentioned beer my mouth was already watering, I haven't had a beer in probably 6 months and being Irish Canadian its one of my favourite things. School is super stressful but its really only when I start to do all my readings that I get munchy. Plus, my social life has taken a hit this last year since I've been on a strict diet I can't go out and party with my friends really cause it mostly involved alot of drinking and eating. But I figure its worth being on a social dive for hopefully only another 5-6months for the chance to be healthy. I have already lost 60lbs and I have approx. 50lbs to go. But I must confess my motivation was low around christmas when there was so much food. But I'm back on track now.

How much does everyone else want to lose??

It's so comforting to know that there are other people who are battling the bulge and don't have the metabolism's of some of my friends that can eat and drink whenever they want.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Glad to see the board is hopping!

Well, my goal is to lose about 40 lbs. Or at least a lot of FAT! If I gain a bit of muscle, that's ok--it may be heavier but takes up less room and BURNS fat! I want to be a comfortable size 11/12.

Well, I have some incentive to get my fat rear in gear. We're going to a Valentines day dinner/dance and I need to lose some poundage to fit into something I own. I REFUSE to buy any more big clothes. I'm getting some meal plans worked out, I know the workout routine, so I just have to DO IT!

I was very BAD today. Our Loblaws had Krispy Creams and of course I had to buy a dozen. I've eaten four of those things today! I actually feel kinda light headed. I can tell when I've had too much sugar--I can feel it spike and then I get tired. I have to treat my body nicer. I've been eating a whole heck of a lot of crap lately. I have a terrible rash and I thought it was from my skin drying out from the cold, but now I'm thinking maybe it's the toxins "coming out". I just chopped up some celery and I've got precut veggies to add to it so I can have a healthy snack later.

GLEN--I've made a veggie soup before using frozen mixed veggies (cauliflower, broccoli and carrots--I think it's called California mix). It also had shredded cabbage (you can use the premade coleslaw mix). It was cooked in V-8 or Garden Cocktail juice and there was an envelope of onion soup mix added. You could add chopped onions, zucchini. It was quite tastey. Does that help? You could just make small batches (therefore not using a whole envelope of soup mix). I can try to refine this recipe for you if you're interested. I know I won't find the exact recipe.

HELPNEEDED--CONGRATS on all that you've lost! That is awesome girl! It's a shame your social life is on hold. Could you not bring your own food to some of the shindigs (or are they usually out in a restaurant?)? Bring a baggie of veggies or other kind of food you eat (eg. you could bring celery and dip it in the salsa and not eat the chips that would be there). I know, it doesn't sound too cool, but you are looking out for your own health. Could you tell a little white lie that you're diabetic or something so can't eat the food that is there? You could drink club soda--have the bartender put a lime in it and it looks like a nice drink.

MEROMO--don't worry about stumbling a bit. I fell flat on my face today with the donuts! I don't think it will do much damage to you. By the way, what's a DONAIR? I've never heard of it.

CAT--GREAT LOSS! Keep doing whatever you're doing, cause it's working!

TRIXI--we each have to do what works for us. Sounds like you figured out what works for you. Hope you had a good TGIF!

Gotta go put the munchkin to bed.
Nighty nite all.

I was unavailable for comment yesterday due to the fact that I was kidnapped by the evil soul  inside of me. She took me right after work and with out my permission, she dragged me to the bar with the pretence of say hi to finance parents who have their Friday eveining cocktail there. She said I could be strong and only have a soda water (with lime) and I would be okay...she would watch out for me..Siiting at the bar she told me they have something called "lo-carb" beer. I said "NO, I am sticking to soda water...please leave me alone" I don't no what sort of magic she has but all of the sudden my soda water turned into the low carb beer (gotta tell you...it tasted awful) and that turned into a wine to get rid of the horrible taste...Cant tell you how many wines I had cause she must have cast some sort of forgetting and counting spell on me...To make matters worse she followed me home in the taxi and made me order panizorottos (it had to be her cause I cant even spell panzirottos) I know it was her evil voice ordering it to be a footlong and deep fried one as well, cause I would never do that :nono:. Finally after eating almost the entire thing she forced me to go to sleep on the living room chair even. I woke up about an hour later and thankfully she was gone.

Well, That was my eveing..I am so glad you all told me about your beer...Its makes me not feel so guilty ;)

Cat: WAY TO GO ON THE LOSS! :dancer: :cp:....doesn't it feel great? Monday is fast approaching me and I need to be extra good so Friday doesn't show too much :) on the scale.

Zanne, I have forced myself never to try one of those Kripsy Kremes cause I know I would find a new addiction. But don't worry about it too much everyone deserves to endulge at times (hence, last night for me).

Hi Everyone!

Well, my eating got better last night. I had a bowlful of veggies for a snack instead of chips. Eating has been good today, so far. Probably I haven't eaten enough, but I'm taking it easy. My stomach had an episode with not liking a vitamin I fed it.

GLEN-- WAY TO GO WITH THE LOSS!! I'll have to try to figure out that recipe. I can't remember where I got it from, but it was actually sounding yummy when I was typing yesterday. I'll make me up some in the next couple of days and write down what I throw in. I tend to cook by eye and my friends hate that--especially when they want the "recipe" for stuff I make. I'll try to be specific with measurements for you.

CAT--the donuts are all gone now. DH and DS helped me finish them off!

TRIXI--I loved your Devil story! Next time don't be so polite by asking her to "please" leave. Tell her to go straight back home to...well you know where.

I've got to go get dinner started. Bye y'all!

Hi everyone.

Sorry I have been MIA. Between computer problems, car problems, working and the house I haven't had a minute to get in here.

Great too see you all doing good. I have switched to slim milk as another way to cut out some fat and cals....but yuck....my tea still looked black I think I might have to go up a notch to 1%.

Just came back from a 40 min walk.....whew....it is cold. My forehead was freezing....this is one way I act like a kid....I will not wear a hat so it is my own fault but what a beautiful sunny day.

Zanne: Sorry I haven't responded to your email, I have had problems with that account so I think I might have to do another email address. How is Kinetex going???

Have any of you been following the taking it off series on the Lifenetwork, last week was the first weight in. Zanne, one of the girls is doing Kinetex, she lost a pound .

Well better go as usual daughter has a game so gotta get motivated.

HOCKEYCHIC--Good to see you. Glad it's only been technical difficulties that have kept you away. Good for you for braving the cold and going for a walk! I'm still trying to figure out those darned k-counts, but I should have meals planned for a week and I plan on starting Kinetix tomorrow. When is the Lefenetwork show on?

HEFTY--Your stew sounds good. Kind of similar to the soup recipe I have to figure out for you.

TRIXI--I hope you like the WATP program. It is easy to follow--not too "dance" oriented like some aerobics tapes. I can actually do this one without getting my feet muddled up!

My eating has been good so far. But like usual, I put off eating for too long. I actually know I have to eat when I get light headed--means my blood sugar has dropped too low.

Gotta go get DS ready for a party.

Well I was good yesterday but felt really sick. Today I was much better I even did the walking dvd...just the one mile today but it was easy so in the morning before work I am going to do the 2 mile one. I felt really good afterwards. Today I spent alot of time cleaning and doing laundry.

Cat....You are an angel!! and I am going to be one for the next long while. I want to really remember how bad I felt for falling off the plan. I had a great time that night but yesterday was a killer.

Tomorow is supposed to be my weigh in but I keep thinking that if it doesn't show any loss I might lose my motivation so I am diliberating on wating until next monday...two weeks into the plan mnus one day should show a loss even if its a small one right? I don't know, I guess I wll decide in the morning :)

Hope you all had a great weekend and hocychic it's great to see you back!!!

I am SOOOOOO EXCITED! I just got off the scale and I've lost 5 lbs!!!!!!! :D :cb: I don't remember exactly when I last weighed, but it must have been about a week ago when I had to get new pants because I couldn't fit into the ones I had (good thing I didn't spend too much on the new ones and I know how to alter them :) )

I'm very surprised by the big loss. I'm usually a very slow loser due to other medical inconveniences. But hey, I'll take the loss!

So I guess the donuts didn't do any long term damage! I have been eating pretty good the past couple of days. I had 2 grapefruits for a snack last night :D I've been drinking lots of water. Now I've just got to get the exercise going and continue eating well. I might just fit into my party clothes for the Valentine dance in 3 weeks! :cp:

TRIXI--Glad you like the WATP DVD's.

CAT--Glad the  didn't catch you. Keep being good!

Gotta go get DS ready for school. Have a GREAT day everyone!

P.S. I'm gonna have to change my sig!

Hey Everyone,

Cat90 - Thanks for the kind words, I'm glad to hear that someone else had some wobbles at christmas. I put on 5lbs over christmas, which isn't too bad. But I have lost 3lbs this week so I'm slowly getting back on track. Good luck this week.

Zanne - Thanks for the idea about the club soda with lime, I've never had this before but it seems like it could easily pass for an alcoholic beverage. I know this strict regime is only temporary so I have no problem giving up some stuff for a while for the benefit of my health. Plus, I too have felt the wrath of the Krispy Kreme donut, those little buggers are so good and they go down so easily. I've been there to so I wouldn't stress about it too much. Thanks again.

Trixi - I definitely still need the motivation of hearing from all of you. I seem to be in the "I'm half way there stage" and I need a little extra push to finish this challenge. Lucky for me I have a super supportive roomate who eats the type of meals I make just to help me and to create a healthy way of eating for herself even though she doesn't need to lose weight. Thanks for your thoughts, good luck with this week.

I am sure thats a free card when you have to eat at your parents!!!! Can;t be rude can you? You'll do better for the rest of the week glen...I have faith in you!

Cat your turn is coming too. Didn't you post a loss last week? It all comes around. I wonder how MeRoMo is doing? Besides you are head of us on the scale and we want to catch up!!!!

HelpNeeded we are all here for each other than. You have the right way of thinking that its not forever and this is the hard part. Once we are in the maintaining portion of our diets we can eat some of what we have been missing. Imagine how great it will tatse, especially when we know that we can have it without feeling guilty. I am hoping that once I am there I will know that I can only indulge once in awhile and eating healthy is a lifetime choice (with a few treats in between!!!)

Zanne, We are exactly even on the scale....lets keep it that way and having it get smaller and smaller. We can evenutally shop for jeans together and borrow each others :)

Hope you all have a great evening!!!

G'Morning everyone!

Sorry I haven't been around lately. Had a very busy weekend!

I don't have very much time right now, as I'm at work, but I'll be back tonight when I get home.

BTW, a donair is something you get in a pizza place, I think it might just be a Nova Scotia thing, but its made from hambuger but its...well its hard to explain. It comes in a pitta and its covered with this sweet sauce and it has onions on it...

http://www.astro.umd.edu/~petitpas/Links/Donair.html

this link has a recipe for it, the picture is really small, but thats what it is :) its a diet no-no!!!!

Hey Everyone!

Now, did this storm get everyone from one end of the country to the other? I'm just curious. Hope everyone faired ok with the snow.

I've got yet another virus! Sore throat and a bit of a fever. Seems like I'm prone to throat things this year. My DS has been coughing since yesterday, so I kept him home today.

Even tho I felt kind of lousy, I still did my Challenge day 1 exercises. I love doing weights. :strong: Today may prove more difficult as it's a cardio day. I actually felt good after working out last night and was full of energy--so I did a good cleaning of the living room and one bathroom.

Eating was pretty good. I've found with these throat infections that my taste goes off tho, which puts me off eating. I know I have to try to eat every couple of hours to keep my blood sugar constant, but that gets difficult when you don't feel like eating. I did heat up some chicken broth and added some hot sauce to it--that really seemed to help a lot!

TRIXI--Congrats on the 6lbs gone! I hadn't yet changed my sig to show my new weight, so actually, I'm down to 170 now. I'm usually a slow loser, so I'm sure you'll catch up to me real soon!

HELPNEEDED--your strength to stay away from tempting situations is amazing. I don't have that much will power. You're doing great!

CAT--Thanks for the Congrats! I'm very surprised at such a big loss. I'm usually a very slow loser. Maybe it was those Krispy Kremes that helped!

GLEN--Don't dwell on a little stumble. I've actually taken my own food with me to places--including my parents'! I haven't gone out to get the veggies for the soup yet--as soon as I make it, I'll post the recipe.

Well, I'm thinking I better go out and start shoveling. Does that count as cardio?

MEROMO--we were posting at the same time. Sweet sauce on meat? I've never heard of that before. It definately sounds like somthing we shouldn't eat. I guess it's just not the same without the sauce, eh? Thanks for explaining.

Zanne,

WOW that even better!!!! Congratulations again. MeRoMo we were just talking about you. Besides the Donair (which I had visions of but they were totally different then what you explanined) hows the rest of your week been? Do you weigh in every Wednesday?

I went to work this morning and at around 11:00 am all the power went out (OI work on bay Street) There were quite a few buildings out. We found out that it would be at least 5-7 hours before it could be restored so we closed down and left. I am going to do some work from home and try to get in the WATP's because I was really sore today I didn't do it this morning. What's weird though is that I really want to cheat today and I think it is because my routine has been disrupted with being home so early. I am having some major cravings (yes, its fries and gravy again :)) but I am not going to give in (I hope).

Gotta do some work now I will post more this evening and see how I fared.

Hello again everyone,

Well, I guess this week wasn't too too bad, weigh in is tomorrow (yes its every Wed) so we'll see how bad I actually was this week. I up'd my water today, (in hopes that it would flush out some of the last minute fats/pounds) but I think its just wishfull thinking. My guess for weight loss this week (I really really hope its a loss and not a gain...) is 2lbs. Not as much as the last two weeks, but any loss is a good loss.

This week has been a week of cravings! (and fries and gravy sound really good...) but other then my yummy donair :( I guess I did good. We had a little mishap with the pipes freezing last night, and didn't have any water...and got really mad!!! So we ordered a pizza, which I guess isnt' the worst food I could be eating, but probably not the best...but it had pineapple on it...fruit is good for you... :)

Well I guess its time to get into the shower and get ready to make fun of all the singers on American Idol (I know, really mean of me...but you just can't help but laugh!)

I hope everyone has a good WARM night, and I'll check in tomorrow to let you know how I did regarding the Weigh in (Keep your fingers crossed :) )

Hi everyone,

Wow congrats everyone on the weightloss, that is amazing. Keeps you motivated.

Cat90 here in Ontario. Talking it off use to be on Thurs but now on Weds at 9 on the life channel.

Well I am going to delv into the world of low carbing. I know so many people that are losing on it I just want to give it a try. That K-count thing was to difficult for me to do so i am giving this a whirl. Is anyone else low carbing???

What a beautiful day here in Ontario after all those snow storms we have been getting, will have to get out for a walk after work.

Well you all have a super day and will check in more often.

Good Afternoon!

I had a pretty good day but it was the night time that got me. All that talk of fries with gravy got to me! Sounded really good, but I didn't have any at home. I made a plate of nachos instead. Bad Zanne!

I just had a bowl of the soup I was talking about. Here's how I made it:

1 large tin stewed tomatoes
1 package California style frozen veggies
1/2 package onion soup mix
2 big handfuls bagged coleslaw mix
about 1/3 bottle Mott's Garden Cocktail (can use V-8 instead)
about 1 cup chicken broth (only cause I had one of those boxes of it open--you don't need to use)

I just threw it all in a big pot and let it simmer. If you don't want to put in the chicken broth, add a bit of water or a bit more veggie juice. You could probably cut the ingredients in half to make a smaller batch. The stewed tomatoes have a bit of added sugar, but I like all the spices in them.

My DS could smell it cooking and he just had some too and said it was good. I keep leftovers in a rubbermaid container in the fridge and scoop out a mug of it and microwave it whenever I get hungry.

HOCKEYCHIC--I found figuring out the k-counts kind of difficult too. I got a book with a food count guide and I think that will help a lot. I started on Monday, but I think this week will be a "practice" as I have another stupid throat virus and don't have much energy for anything let alone exercising.

Time for a nap. (good luck with that since DS is home from school supposedly sick too). I wanted to get the soup recipe posted before I forgot the quantities of stuff.

Have a good day everyone!

So I wasn't AS bad as I thought I was this past week. Not AS good as I would have liked but oh well...a loss is still a loss...even when it's only 0.8 lbs :( BUT I know what I did wrong...and it won't happen again (At least I hope so...)

I'm still at work (1.5hrs to go!!!) but I'll check back in later tonight.

Hi everyone,

I've been crazy busy with school, midterms and papers are coming up fast...so I haven't been in here for a few days.

Cat90- I'm on a pretty strict diet that I find really works (if you can do it, which sometimes isn't easy) and I lose weight pretty consistently when I stick to it. I have tried everyday diet and weight loss program in the world to try and lose weight because I've always been on the heavy side even as a kid. Then last year my roomates mother went to herbal magic. Now I was pretty skeptical because I would never take anything that was harmful, like ephedra, or anything that would make me sick. But her mother had such success that I went to find out for myself. Basically its a low carb, high protein diet with supplements that help stimulate digestion but everything is all natural ie. cayenne extracts, seaweed and cactus. You are not allowed any sugar, alcohol or salt. So nothing canned can be eaten, it has to be all fresh. Your allowed so much from each food group per day and lots of water. Too be honest I don't even excersise as much as I should but I'm slowly building up more time exercising. I'll be glad for the spring when I can walk again. So that's how I do it but it really has been the first program that has taught me how to eat healthy and to lose steadily. The only downside is that its really expensive but in a way it motivates you to get the weight off as quickly as possible so you can get rid of the expense.

Atleast we will all get some extra excersise this week digging ourselves out of the snow. I can't wait for my all inclusive vacation to the Dominican Republic over Reading week, has anyone ever been to Puerto Plata??? I've never been anywhere warm, if anyone has any advice on what to bring etc... I would love to hear it.

M, No..i mean Rain :rain: we have'nt got any snow here and it is'nt cold either :) Congrats on the weightloss :cp:

HN, that diet sounds interesting but i doubt that i could follow anything that strict myself :) I've never been to Puerto Plata but i've been to the Cayman Islands and Florida which are both hot :D i just made sure that i had plenty of Cotton stuff to wear to try and keep cool and of course wear a hat..i don't like wearing them but my head burns along the hair parting if i don't wear one

Susanne, i was really really bad today :o i've had pizza, a beer and 2 mars bars :yikes: thats what i get for going shopping on an empty stomach  i enjoyed my :ink: out and will get straight back on plan tomorrow

I have been a very bad girl. Zanne and Cat90 I think this is the week for us. I did it again last night I allowed myself to give in and have beer!!!! BAD TRIXI!!! Today I am serious I know that I must stick to this and lose this weight. I have tried to convince myself its only for a little while and than I will be able to give into cravings once in a awhile. But staying motivated 24 hours a day is really really hard.

I am going to be good until at least Valentines day. There is no way I am weighing myself until then.

You can do it Trixi!

I gave myself a goal of loosing 10lbs by V-day...which is probably not going to happen, but one can hope.

After the disaster that was last week, I am SO going to be good this week! Except for last night... :) We had Chinese food (opps...) but it was weigh in day, and its the only day I feel "safe" to have a treat :) So my goal this week is 2-3lbs!

Does anyone have the WATP DVD? I'm thinking of getting it tonight...any opinions?

I just got the WATP's last weekend based on Zanne's recommendation and I love it. I bought the 1 mile and 2 mile ones. The one mile is super easy but the 2 mile one is great. The moves are really simple and you dont feel like one foot is over your head while the other is up your a@#. The 2 mile one makes me feel like I excersized without killing myself.

Hi MeRoMo, and gang!

Thanks for the welcome. :) I had a day like that yesterday :( I perserved though :sumo: , and did my exercise, although half way through I was thinking, screw this. :dizzy: I'm thinking its the mid-winter blues. Not much to look forward to (except summer!) and its cold dreary.. blah. I was reading in Shape magazine its called something like SAD, seasonal-something-something and its related to this time of year. Hopefully it will pass soon for all of us. ;)

I have the 2 mile walkaerobics DVD, and its been great for me. I got the 1 and 3 from the library and to me they seemed outdated (hair, clothing). It doesn't matter much in comparison to the workout, but for me, I usually can't get past all the neon and big hair. I definately recommend the 2 mile. There seems to be quite a few out there, the one I have is shown here (http://www.amazon.ca/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00006BS7P/701-4536761-8281905).

I got my aerobics out of the way today, so all thats left is our nightly walk. It doesn't look too cold out there so thats very happy :cp:. We've been out there in some doozies.. :)

Today IS a new day, and a great one at that...Friday! I give myself the weekends off of exercise so its a real big deal to me, but they always go by so fast! Oh well! At least the weather LOOKS warm. One more walk and aerobics session to go, to which I am procrastinating on as we speak. :dz: Nothing new there. I like to give a consequence for not doing my exercise, which for me happens to be it getting dark. I workout in my living room and when it gets dark people can see in (sheer curtains), which means them seeing me jumping around like a freak :sumo: so I try and get my exercise done by 5PM everyday...at least the aerobics part. The walking my husband and I do every night with our dog. We don't have people freaking out on us about the dog peeing on their lawns at night. :nono:

I've been using Nytol Natural Source sleep aids for my sleeplessness lately. I'm a seasoned sleeping pill person, have always used them, but not to the point of addiction. I found that the natural ones didn't give me that awful groggy feeling in the morning that the medicinal ones did. And they seemed to work better than medicinal ones did too, faster. Just a thought anyway. :halffull:

Today I'm feeling mostly good. Hubby's home so I may have to fight for the tv, which is rare since he never uses the tv, but for some reason he's in there. :chin: That's okay, aerobics take priority over any "casual" tv watching anyway.

Yesterday I stayed within my limits (closer to the high end of my calories). All of my numbers were good except for my fiber :rollpin: :stress: which is always too low it seems.

Time to start thinking about meal prep, I'm :hungry: and breakfast is the most important meal of the day!

Good luck to everyone today. :coach: Stay motivated!

Hi everyone.

Yaaaa it is the weekend. Sounds like a few people have had a bad week. With all this cold and snow I am sure there are alot of us feeling tired and blah. On the bright side January is almost over so we are 1 month closer to the summer.....yaaaa

Well good news for me, I met my 1st goal. I day late but I will take it. Since Jan 4th I have lost 9 pds....my next goal is another 9 by the end of Feb. I am trying for 9 lbs a month which is only a little over 2 pds a week. I know that is alot and will get harder once I start losing but since I have alot to lose it worked for January anyways. I want to be at 145 by the May long weekend so I have to try and push it.

Well gotta go, as usual daughter has a hockey game. Everyone have a great weekend.

I am having a lousy weekend for motivation anyway. I have been really bad for the last four days and I can't seem to stop. Tomorrow I HAVE TO get back on track. I AM going to be good all week and I am not stopping.

I hope eveyine is faring better than me at this point.

Figuring out "k-counts" has been difficult, but I think I'm starting to get the hang of it. So I've been doing a little planning of meals.

I'm quite happy because when I got on the scale this morning, it was still at 170. I am amazed because TOM is here and I usually bloat up about 5 lbs. (Mind you, I'm having a REAL easy time this month--I can totally relate to the being in bed for 3 days)

SORRY GLEN for the "female" talk.

My eating has also NOT been the greatest. I even caved last night and got some fries and gravy to make for dinner! My water consumption has been really good tho, so maybe that's contributed to the weight staying where it was instead of going up.

My only exercise this week has been shoveling the snow and today the family went toboganing! That was a blast!

So I REALLY have to get on track tomorrow. Less than 2 weeks to V-day! I've gotta look good in whatever I'm wearing.

TRIXI and MEROMO--The stretchy bands sound interesting! My DVD's use hand weights. Glad you like WATP.

HOCKEYCHIC--That's a great loss! Sure and steady. Keep up the good work.

CAT--Hope you're feeling better now.

MSBEDHEAD--WELCOME!

Susanne hope you are feeling better too :D

Hockychic..well done with the weightloss :bravo:

Last night after I lost the ten minute post I was so mad I had to log off. I am going to try it again from work now.

Since Tuesday until today I had pretty much lost all my motivation and went on what I am going to the "THE WINTER BLAHS BINGE" it lasted a week and I am now offiicially over it. I now know that should I even once step off this program it is so hard to get back on it. I am not going to allow myself to cheat again.

Zanne I am glad your back again. I bought three of those bands I could send you one and record the dvd on to vhs for you and we can all be "Sister's in Sweat" together. I got my dvd at blockbuster. Only 29.99 for both the one mile and the two mile dvd. You know what the great hign is though. My daughter who is ten and a little overweight herself (even though she has great confidence and such a great personality that no one ever says a word to her about it) has started to do the one mile walk as well. She loves it and I am so proud of her.

Cat..Happy your feeling better and you will be 100% soon.

Hefti...I am jealous that you stayed so strong...send some of that my way okay.

Well I am at work and I will post more tonight.

Thanks for the offer TRIXI. How sweet of you! But I'll say "no thanks" just now. I've officially started the Kinetix challenge and they have an exercise program that I'm following.

Glad you are off your binge. It's wonderful that your DD is doing it with you. When I was doing WATP, my DS would do it with me.

CAT--did you get back to exercise? C'mon, you can do it! You'll feel so good afterward!

Time for me to hit the showers. I've already done a half hour on the elliptical!

G'day everyone!

I bought my DVD at walmart ($19.99) for the three mile one, and the bands were $12 (I think) its really fun...if you can get past the part where she keeps saying "momma loves you...mommma loves you....)

I'm gonna get very OT now, but I am going to Toronto at the end of the month and was wondering if anyone leaves in or near there. I would like to know the cheapest way to get from the airport to downtown?

Cheers,

Hi everyone, Just checking in. Sorry I have been here on and off, with all this d*** snow my schedule is so messed up I am not getting my usual computer time.

I have just been reading through all the posts I have missed, thank you all for the congrats, it feels good to meet a goal even if it was a small goal, next one is 172 by the end of Feb.

Zanne: WTG on figuring that k-count thing out. I found it so confusing, but since I am losing right now I and going to stick with this until I either plateau or get bored.

Hey Zanne, wtg on the loss keep it up.

I am so pumped and motivated, amazing how a little success can just keep you going. I keep trying to incorporate some exercise but just haven't found the time. I know bad excuse. I am trying to change that. Do we have a set weight in day here or are we all different. My official weight in is tomorrow and can't wait.

how about a exercise challenge, say starting Sat we have to exercise for at least 30 min for 5 days??? More if you want. Anyone have any challenge suggestions.

Well gotta get in the shower. Have a great day.

How is everyone doing....I had a so-so weekend and a so-so start to the week. I have to admit, I won't be meeting the challenge this week...I had a very lazy week, so I'll aim for next week...how about starting on Wed :)

On the weekend I tried the Low-Fat brownies by Betty Crocker...YUMMY!!! OMG, that was the best sweet thing I've had in a long time....I highly recommend trying them. I had one and some fat-free ice cream (I think Bayers makes it...) can you tell I have a sweet tooth. :)

All in all, I think I had an ok week, maybe lost one pound...which is fine with me! I'll find out on Wed, but at least this time I'm not going into it terrified to step on the scale!

Well, have a happy Monday.

Well, I had a bad stumble this week and ate a half box of Krispie Kreams! Bad Zanne for buying them! But I have been doing my exercises. I've had to take it easy tho, cause my knees are acting up and they feel like they might give out, so I don't want to injure them. I am also pleased to say that I have lost another pound and am down to 168 :D I have also lost a couple inches. I've lost a whole inch in my hips! :smug: For years I've had the same hip measurement, but in the past couple weeks, it's gotten smaller! :D

I know at times things look discouraging, but being persistant will pay off.

TRIXI--I'm sick of the cold wind! I like the snow and don't mind if it's just plain cold. I just hate the wind! Just think, every day we are a little more closer to spring! When you are down and starting to get out of control, come and post here! Do NOT stay away during these times. That is when you need to come here most. We are not going to judge you--we've all been there, done that. We're here to support you!

CAT--Glad you're hanging in there. I think the weight thing is that it put too much stress on the joints. I really don't remember--I just know that I heard something bad and tossed my ankle weights.

HI-to everyone else! '

I think a part of mt blah's were the fact that five hours after posting my throat started to hurt and my nose was killing me. Yesterday I was on the couch all day and could'nt move. I still feel not so great but at least I know why I was so cranky!

Good thing happened on friday though. After being together for six years my fiance for the first time sent me flowers! I was so shocked and they were really beautiful. That cheered me up a bit until I started to feel sick.

I am glad everyone (minus one small krispy kreme incident) is doing so good. I keep thinking to myself "you bought the new scale, the workout tapes, the stretchy bands, vitamins and food, why haven't you done anything yet" My goal is to get off my butt and really do this thing. I know its me that is sabotoging (sp) my own health and yet its so hard to get started again (Sorry for the whining)

Today I am going to try to clean my house and just keep on saying to myself tomorrow I will start again. Thanks for all the support you guys!! I really needed it.

Have a great Sunday.

Hi Girls and Glen

Trixi, its no wonder you have no motivation if you're not feeling well :( just concentrate on getting yourself better before you throw yourself into an exercise program otherwise you'll tire sooner and it will seem even more overwhelming ;) Get Well Soon :)

Walked/Jogged another 3.15mls yesterday :cb: but my knees are'nt liking it too much so i'll have to buy a knee support to see if that helps otherwise it'll mean going back to just walking :( and i like the spurts of jogging :tread: i feel so energised afterwards.

Are'nt these cute little guys? :) :)

Hello everyone

I just join this site and weight watchers. I understand the breakfast problem up until this Jan I never ate it. Since I have joined ww I now have cereal or oatmeal every morning. I find that along with forcing myself to drink eight 8oz glasses of water a day and eating breakfast I'm not so hunger midmorning. I do see more of my bathroom. I to am from Ontario and this month I also started to force myself and best friend into bundling up and going for a walk (30 minutes every day) it helps. So far I lost 5lbs I need support I've been trying to lose the same 30lbs for 3 years and this year I hope do it.

Good Morning and Happy Belated Valentine's Day!

Sorry I've been MIA for the last week...I was so busy!! But I'm back and ready to go :)

Welcome NorthernClipper! I know what you mean about seeing more of the bathroom. I Joined WW last month and I'm still frequenting the potty :)

So last Wed. Weight-in didn't go so well...I didn't lose anything :( But its better than a gain...and you'd think that after a not so good week I'd have been well behaved this weekend WRONG! I ate sooo much chocolate! Its a weakness :) Everytime I walked by the kitchen I had some. But its a new week and over a month until Easter, so I don't think they'll be anymore chocolate in the house for a while. :)

I got a PM from someone at a university in England. She wants to use some of my posts for research...did anyone else get one of these? I have no problem with them using it as long as its legit.

Well hope everyone has a sunny Monday morning.

Cheers,

M.

I agree with you if it's not a gain it's nothing. Chocolate and pastries are my sore spot. After valentines day I told my husband and kids take all the junk food to their rooms and keep it away from me even if there are tears(mine) :^: Then I cleaned some green peppers, cherry tomatoes and celery and I began this week with a clean slate. I also joined two challenges and I'm going to do it this time. :smug:

I'm from Alberta and enjoying the fact that the sunlight is longer everyday. I'm in WW and find sticking to it hard. Hi Diana, Welcome!

I'm in WW too, and I too enjoy eating! But I've been able to "cheat" so to say. I've found food that is good for you and tastes good too! It was really hard for me to stick to it at first, but after a while (and thanks to all of the yummy WW recipes just floating around on the net) its become easier. Not that I'm good ALL the time b/c this weekend was a total bust! But for the most part its not too too bad.

Where is everyone else? Did I miss something while I was gone...did you all leave? :(

MeRoMo: remember it depends on your time of the month and maybe it just wasn't your day. Could be tomorrow if you went in you could be down a pound or two....just keep at it. I wish I had as much motivation as you. With this cold I can't seem to get anything done. I got sent home today (which if you knew my bosses, never happens!) cause I was in the middle of a meeting and had to leave cause I was choking all the flem, sorry I know thats gross is finally leaving my body and I had to run to my office and have a meeting with my trash can...oops...oh yeah that happened twice. Well, I think it's been a while since I was here. I've gotten really into my program this week. I was re-motivated after seeing my friend on Saturday. She's lost 85lbs and has gone from a size 20 to a size 10! she looks HOT! I am so very proud of her for getting healthy and losing weight. I actually started crying I was so happy for her.

So I figured that if she could lose 5 sizes, then even with my health impedements, I could lose 2 sizes! I'm really getting into the exercising and I'm actually starting to get into the eating part of the program. But even tho I'm not following the eating part perfectly, I AM choosing much healthier things to eat. In fact, I just finished eating 2 grapefruits for a snack! I think now that I've got the exercising down pretty good (I will be moving up to higher weights for some moves :strong: ), I can start to focus more on the eating.

I did my measurements on Friday and I've lost a few inches in the past few weeks. One HUGE surprise was my hip measurement. No matter what I've been doing over the past couple years, the hip measurement NEVER changed. Every other measurement would change, but NOT the hips. Well, on Friday, the tape measure said one inch LESS. I had to measure 3 times to make sure! So I must be doing something right.

DH and I are thinking of entering the Mississauga Marathon (for those of you who don't know--Mississauga is just outside Toronto) to do the Half Marathon. I know I won't be able to jog all of it, but I am a pretty good walker and I think I can finish it in a half decent time. How's THAT for ambitious???

I weighed in at 168 this morning. I'm not sure, but I might have to change my sig line. I'm just happy to be staying in the 160's and not creeping back into the 170's.

TRIXI--I'm sorry to hear you are so sick. You have to take it easy and take care of yourself. Can you stay home for one day and just sleep? Take some nyquil or something to help put you out and just rest!

HEFTY--I think CAT should take lots of lugguge and put ALL of us in it!

CAT--have a good, safe trip!

HOCKEYCHIC--I've never heard of PACE. What did you think of it? Are you sore yet?

MeRoMo--We have to try to NOT let the scale run our life. Scale weight can fluctuate for a number of reasons. I can change the weight on my scale just by standing in a different place on it, or by leaning over more than usual. Are you taking measurements? sometimes that is much better. My weight has been hovering around 168/169 for a few weeks, BUT my hip measurement has decreased by a whole inch! I've lost 1/2-1 inch in other areas too.

DEWCAN and NORTHERN CLIPPER--WELCOME!

Ok, time for a couple of Brit-Coms before bed

Nighty Nite All!

M. numbers can be such a mystery and such a discouragement. Don't let it get you down though.

Trixi, I hope that gross cold goes away super fast for you

Zanne, the measurement must be such an encouragement, keep it up. That is wonderful for your friend, she must have worked really hard to get results like that. And a marathon, that is really ambitious, keep training and you'll do super ;) And thanks for the welcome :D

Glen, I think we all need a vacation !!!

Goodnight, Diana

Hello everyone!

We woke up to a five foot snow drift and the end of the driveway this morning and I got a call from my boss telling me to stay home!!! :) How exciting is that!!

I'm feeling pretty good today, I tried to get out and shovel but I can't get off my deck!

Fun stuff!

MeRoMo--WOW! This is a LOT of snow. The storm you got was the opening story on our news last night. Maybe you can climb out of a window and fall into a snowdrift to get outside  Hmmm, on second thought, you may get lost in the snowdrift.

Hope you're able to get outside soon. Keep warm. At least you still have your internet working to keep you busy.

Ok, so I have NOTHING to do today but frig around on the internet :) I tried going outside (through the window) but its just WAY to hard to walk in snow that is up to your waist! (at least I got in a pretty good workout!) so I made a photo album with the pictures I took last night and today.

http://photos.yahoo.com/mrmcj03

As you can probably guess after looking at the pics from today I got another call this morning telling me to stay home. The highways are still not cleared yet so even if I wanted to I couldn't get to work, and with the way the road is now I'd be suprised if I got in on Monday either (not that I am complaining tho!! :)

It feels like it should be 5:00 by now! I am so bored!!!! I guess I'm going to watch some daytime talkshows now :) Maybe if I can get some snowshoes I can get out for a walk :)

Cheers,

M.

Saw the pictures MeRoMo you look good in white  Instead of shoveling just put a sign in front of your house stating "Snow for Sale" and see if you get any takers...Sorry for making fun. I am still trying to get all the ice off my drive away from two weeks ago. Hope you have a great snowday and tried not to be too bored. You can think of me stuck in my office working away until 6 pm with no relief in sight!

M. I notice a common theme in your pictures  I shouldn't laugh, we'd actually like to have snow like that, just not necessarily all in one day. :D I 'm trying to think of the postives about your situation. 1. you'll lose weight shovelling the snow, and tone :strong: 2. you'll save on heating as this is the best insulation. Your heating bill is probably as outrageous as mine, so yo ucan appreciate this. ;) Your place is starting to resemble an igloo

Trixi, I like your idea. Selling the snow, you just never know....

Hello all from Canada! I am new to this forum stuff so bear with me...I live in Calgary....brrrrrr. But not as bad as you guys in Ontario have been getting it. I've been hiding in the background reading all the posts and thought I'd jump in. I used to be over 200 lbs (stopped getting on the scale then) size 16-18, and now am at 140lbs. and a size 6-7. I haven't tried dieting really and am allergic to excersice...it makes me sweat, my heart beats funny-lol- but decided that I want to be at my ultimate healthiest when I hit 40. (37 now). I eat all day long, no exhaggeration. At least 8-10 times a day. But only fruits and veggies during the day and chicken or fish with salad and other veggies. I have only 5-8 more lbs to go and I will have accomplished what I set out to do. It has taken me a couple of years but was on my own doing it. I would love to join the chats and make new friends.

Remember, those who have the willpower will always come out on top! :flow2:

So yeah, I think the idea of selling snow is a good one...does anyone have a truck I could borrow to ship it down south! :)

Its not all that bad I guess, we have power and HEAT!! I got up to the store to get some food to last us for the weekend, but it was slim pickings (So what I got probably isn't the best food to be eating...but oh well!)

So I've been ranting all day...and I'm very sorry!! I promise I won't do that anymore (Or until Saturday/Sunday when we get 15-20 more cm!!)

How is everyone else doing? Got any exciting plans for the weekend?

Cheers!!

How often d oyou use your treadmill, or any other exercise? I use my bike, and I actually don't mind it. I've jsut sort of gotten ussed to it in my routine. Mind my asking how tall you are? My goal is similar to yours, and am just wondering approx what size I'll be wearing, just something ot look forward to for me.

Hello everyone

After 2 weeks of staying the same at ww I got a little depressed, then a little angry. While at angry I took it out on my bike and best friend(I made her walk 30 minutes every nite this last week. It's paid off in a lost inch. I have now settled down to my exercise plan of biking, sit-ups, running stairs, tread-mill and exercise videos(I change up every other day) I want to see more loss.

Remomo Sorry to hear you're shut-in, it's something that would drive me nuts too. I walk in the rain( like last nite )or the snow( it makes me move faster) I saw your pictures and I'm glad we had nothing like that here lately(and I 'm hoping not at all this year)

zanne Hearing about your friends' loss is enough to motivate me to work harder. It's great to hear about someones sucess.

canadianred Sorry to take so long to welcome you but WELCOME! ! WELCOME!

glen BRAVO on your loss :D :D I am waiting for a weight loss along with another inch loss. Keep up the good work.

Way to go Glen! I'd like to see the same results this week at my WW meeting, but with all the junk food that I ate this weekend I'm thinking its not going to be as good!

And contrats to you too NC, a whole inch! I bet you're excited!!!

Trixi: I'm glad to hear you're feeling better. I hope you continue to get better and better!!

So its raining in Toronto? Any idea how the weather will be there this weekend? We're leaving for the city on Friday...I'm so excited!!! :)

I did walk alot of walking this weekend, can't start my car (I think being under six feet of snow tends to kill a battery...) and I actually don't mind all the hills (I like at the top of a HUGE hill!!!) Its snowing again today, nothing like it was on Thursday and Friday, so I'm thinking I might head out for another walk.

Well, hope everyone is having a happy Sunday!

Ok so this is it....I have had my fun and gained a ton in the past three weeks. Two because of just me being stupid and last week I had no energy to even try. Today is day one again for me. I am finally feeling 100%. Thanks for all the warm wishes.

I will be a good girl and eat right and exercise and nooooooo drinking. I am really upset with myself and I know if I cheat even a little I wont be able to stop. I promise myself to stay on track and win this battle with myself in order to be a better person. I have been so grumpy that I am sure my fiance is about ready to leave me. I know its depression because I have not been OP butI am the only one that can doing anything about it.

I consider this day one again and will make it to day 365 if it kills me. I will exercise, eat right and drink tons of water. I will not quit.

Thanks for listening. Hope you all have a great week.

MeRoMo It is suppose to be pretty mild here. Its not calling for any snow, or rain and I hope the weather is great for your weekend. You are going to be really close to me, Zanne and Hefty.

Northernclipper keep up the good work and send some motivation my way please?

:cb: Well, Happy Monday all! I had a busy weekend....I attempted to be young again and went dancing! :jig: Wow! What a workout keeping up with the 20something-crowd! (I'm 37). Let's see, I'm 5'8" and classified as a large bone structure. I try to make my workouts like non-workouts. I power walk during my 1/2 hour lunch and if the weather is bad, when I get home from work, I pull my treadmill infront of the tube and powerwalk for 1/2 infront of Oprah. When I'm in the car, I tighten my abs and hold them during the red lights. I also squeeze in crunches during commercial breaks if I'm watching the tube. As for motivation, my goal is to turn 40 in better shape then pre-children. I've decided that since I'm getting into shape for the big "40" I may as well, go for the gusto and do the works. I'm getting braces in a couple of weeks. So that should change the diet a little. How about all of you? What are your little tricks?

Hello everyone

I have been so busy this last 4 days I didn't get time to sign in at all. I was sorry to hear a few of you gained but, remmeber it just short term you will get on track and lose it again.

Welcome Sunnyday you sound Canadian to me. :smug:

Canadian Red dh and I went dancing this weekend too. Had a great time we do it once every couple of months at hockey dances( each team host one every other month.) It is a great way to excerise if you never leave the dance floor and thats my challenge. Thank God dh loves to dance and will stay there with me. My trick is to change up my excerise every other day.
One day sit-ups and arm lifts-next time treadmill and run stairs- then exercise videos and every night I walk outside except in icy weather. I been lucky these last 2 weeks I walked every night.

I'd like to share my main motivation, for our 25th anniversary my dh got us tickets to Europe. I will not fall off my plan because I have my outfits picked out to take and I don't fit in half of them, but I will by trip time. :D

I have got Easter on my mind, 1st because I'm in the Easter challenge and tomorrow is my ww weigh-in. 2nd because at work the last two days I've done nothing but Easter displays. It keeps my mind of food when all I see are choc Easter bunnies and I'm allergic to choc. :(

I hope everyone finds the road back to their programs and has success, til later good-night. :)

I have cooked all my meals for the week and have frozen them so I can just pop it in the microwave and just have to worry about the rest of the family's meals during the week. I am hoping that if I know what I am going to eat all week I will be less tempted to cheat. As soon as I finish posting I am going to do my WATP two mile work out. I just do not have the energy to attempt the pilates yet and I am not sure where I am going to do it. My workout space at the moment is very small. I might have to move the rabbit out of the computer room so I can do it in here.

It is another beautiful day out and am getting more and more excited about spring. I started a journal to help me stay on track and remind me of what I should be doing in order to stay OP. I have listed all my meals, my weight, vitamins, exercise, ketones, and a cheated section (which I hope I do not use) I did enough pages to last the next 38 days.

Well its time to get the exercise in have a great night all.

Trixi Put the rabbit in the closet....he wants in there anyway.

I bought a new journal. Mainly because I liked the cover. Perhaps I should copy you Trixi and start journaling more.

I walked again today. It was so bright and pretty outside. I am ready for Spring too!

Talk to you all later!

Good Morning everyone!

My trip to TO was so much fun!!! The weather was pefect! Walking to the bus yesterday to take us back to the airport was so nice, I only had on a sweater! It is so big there, trying to find something to use as a landmark to know where you are going is hard! The buildings are so tall! (Here you just need to look for the harbour :) )

I went WAY over on my points this weekend BUT walked four about 7 hours (Just on Saturday!) So if I end up gaining at least I'll have enjoyed doing it :)

We had such a good time, we're going back in May!!

Cheers,

M.

MeRoMo,

I am glad you had fun in our wonderful city. If you were walking down Bay Street (as you mentioned the tall buildings) you probably walked right by my office. The weather was great!!!! Sure beats the -35 we had last month. I am sure all that walking helped.

I have everything I need to stay on program today (and hopefully the motivation as well) Have a great day all.

Sunny the bunny tried for hours to get in the closet and finally I just put in back in his cage and gave him a time out. When I was on the computer he got cheeky and jumped right in my lap begging for one of the treats he loves so much. It was really cute but he nails are strong.

Stayed up to late last night to watch the awards so I did not get up in time to do the WATP's so I will have to do it when I get home tonight.

Trixi,

Bay Street sounds familar...I think we ended up there by mistake :) We got lost Friday night trying to find our hotel (Which I'm thinking wasn't in the nicest part of town...) we were dropped off at the Delta and tried getting a cab but I guess where it was only a few blocks away he didn't want to drive us, so he told us to go to the lights and take a left..which we did BUT it turned out that we needed to take a right! So we arrived in Toronto at 8ish and checked into our hotel at 10ish! Its a good thing it was nice out!

The next time we go we're planning on staying at the Holiday Inn on King...is it nice? It looks nice and it seems to be pretty central. AND the bus stops right there!! :)

Hope I'm posting right. Anyway Let me introduce myself...My name is krystal I'm 37, married and a sahm of one son(13) . I live in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.(Don't even mention the word snow :dizzy: LOL) I am at my highest weight 180 lbs :( and would love to join your group for the extra motivation to keep on trying to lose. I am 5'3" and want to eventually get down to 130 lbs. I joined Curves about 2 weeks ago and have been trying to stay off the pop and drink more water instead(very hard). I know I need to do more however I have found in the past that if I rush in I'll just fall on my butt before I even get a good start. So here I am, hope you don't mind a late joiner. ---Krystal :)

Welcome Krystal you have just joined friendly and helpful site.I hope you find motivation amongst us because it's here.

M I was happy to hear you had a great time in T.O. The weather sure welcomed you. I'm sure all the walking you did will make short of your straying alittle bit. Getting away from home for awhile is reason enough to take a tiny break from a tough program, we all know how hard we work day in and day out. Glad to hear you could enjoy the break :D

I'm not originally from CB. I grew up in Winnipeg and married a Caper I met in Germany.Sometimes you have to travel far to find a good man. ;) My father is in the military and we were posted in Germany. My hunny lived just below us( is in the military too) and all I had to do was throw out the fishin' line and hook him over the balcony. History was born. DH is stationed in Sydney now however we are moving again come this summer or next for sure. We have been warned. Thanks again for the welcome.---So do you do weekly weigh ins or anything else I should know about??? Let me know. Talk soon. I'm usually off and on all day.---Krystal :)

Welcome Krystals I love your sense of humor. You have a great way of lookig at things. Right now we don not have a weekly weigh in but we can start right? I most likely will weigh the same everytime but thats okay with me (not really, trying to save face).

Dewcan dont worry its only Monday and things CAN get better. I was a good girl all day and now I am going to go to bed in case I break (its only eight) figure if I sleep lots I cheat less

Northernclipper you always have something inspirational to say and I am very happy that you have joined our little group (I have read some of you other posts as well)

Today I actually stayed up after my son left to go to school and went to get my bloodwork done for the month. The wait wasn't to terrible--only one hour :dizzy: . Now I'm having my tea and figuring out what today holds in store for me. It'll be a busy and active one because I'm starting my spring cleaning early and this week is the kitchen. I know but I may be selling this house this summer and I want to be ready. DH has been warned about a possible move. Got to get the dog to the groomer too so you know I'll have to do the drive though at timmies. I'll just get the coffee with milk and try and keep myself from the danishes. Why do I torture myself so? :dunno: ---Well I'm off, Tomorrow is another curves day. I actually look forward to them. Has anyone here started the diet plan they give out in the book and if so what do you think of it??? See ya! ---Krystal

Happy Tuesday (blah) all. At work and can't seem to get motivated to start actually working. Very busy day ahead and I don't know where to begin.

I was down two pounds this morning!!! which pretty much means a total of 8 pounds gone since I started in January. I have decided not to think of the big loss I had earlier and then the big gain I had. Its going to be 8 pounds since January! and counting. Not much of a loss but better than a gain right?

I never did get to exercise last night or this morning but I WILL do it tonight and in the morning no matter what.

I found a program for my daughter to attend while she is on March Break and it only costs 90 Bucks!!!! I am thrilled that she will be busy and she already has friends who go to the same program so she will be comfortable. It runs from 9 am until 6 pm and they go on trips, swimming and tons of other activies. One of the other working moms told me about it. Considering childcare costs this is a deal and makes her happy. She was trying on her swim suits last night to get ready and there is still two weeks to go

I hope you all have a great day today and I will post more tonight.

Dale, 8 pounds is wonderful. That is the size of a average newborn baby, and that is off your body for good!! (I'm a nurse so I thikn of things in sizes of babies  )
Krystals, are you trying to post a reply as that is at the bottom of this thread on the left hand side, this is where you get all the smilies. If you're trying ot make a new thread, that is on the thread list in each forum on the bottom left side. Does that make sense? How it helps you

MeRoMo...I am not sure what you paid for at your hotel but I have a contact at the Sheraton Centre on Queen Street of you like I can see if I can get a good deal for you if you come back in May. It is a beautiful hotel and right in the middle of everything. The weather in May is really nice.

And CONGRATS Dale!!

Hi All, It is nice to see other Canucks up here!

Igave myself a gym memebership for my birthday last summer. I was at 247. I have been working out and am at only 224. But I was recently diagnosed with hypothyroid. So it makes losing weight extremely difficult. It also explains alot.

I have been doing the Gi Diet for 4 months and only lost 20 pounds. But, everyone else has dropped more! Ain't it the way?! But I have gone from needing to stay at level one at the gym's cross trainer machine. Now I can go to level 15. So, some of the weight is now muscle. It has to be because I have lost more than 30 inches over all.

SO I focus on eating right, playing well and girls night out at the gym....

But, I am trying to give up coffee...the GI Plan vetoes it out right...and i do LOVE it so

Hello ladies

Deborah17 It seems like we all want to know what the GI diet is? Bravo on the 30inches that's great. Keep up the great work.

Trixi I glad to hear your still losing (slow and steady wins the race)

Krystal I weigh-in at ww"s on Thur or Sun and Mondays every fourth week I have a body measuring.(to see if I lost inches) I can't think of spring cleaning yet that will mean painting and rearranging furniture. But that sure is great exercise( the spring cleaning I mean)

I have had a great day today no weigh loss but I got into a smaller size pair of pants and they were alittle baggy. I couldn't stop smiling all day I must of looked pretty goofy :dizzy: I have been at a stand still for 3 weeks no weight loss so to fit into those pants earned me my goofy look.

I hope this week turns out great for all of us so cross your fingers and stay op.

Oh my gosh, I've been MIA from here for quite a while. I haven't had time to go back and read all the posts but WELCOME to all the new comers!

Well, my exercising is going GREAT! I registered myself and DH in a half marathon in May. I'm going to be walking it (13.1 miles). I've been on my elliptical almost every day for the past few weeks and have now started to train outside. Hopefully the nice weather will stay.

My eating has improved too. I think the exercising curbs the appetite. I have made a few slip ups but don't dwell on them. I had a treat of chips and dip the other night. Only ate a few chips, but the rest back in the bag and then grabbed 2 grapefruits to snack on. The chips didn't taste that great to me.

My weight has stayed the same, but I'm sure I'm losing. My watch and rings are getting big! I had to check my watch the other day to make sure I hadn't put it on the wrong hole cause it had twisted around on my wrist. Nope! same hole as always, so i guess my wrist is smaller  And the rings I had to get made bigger a couple years ago are very loose. I did measurements today and I've lost a few more inches. So I don't believe the scale too much. Tape measure and the Pants-o-meter are a better way to see if I've lost weight.

DEBORAH--I'm hypothyroid AND have PCOS. Double whammy for losing the weight. I take meds for the thyroid, and ironically, losing weight will help eliviate the symptoms of the PCOS. I'm finding that exercising is helping. I try to eat similar to the GI diet. I stay away from "white" stuff and processed/refined foods. I 've been eating a lot of pineapple lately tho, and that's supposed to have a high GI rating. I figure it's better than chips. I won't give up my morning coffee tho! 30 inches is awesome--keep up the good work.

MeRoMo--Glad you liked your trip to TO.

Ok, gotta go. Just thought I'd better check in here!

Zanne: Great to hear from you again!!!. Who cares what the scale says if the clothes and rings get looser!!! Great Job on the exercise.

MeRoMo: The Sheraton is a four star Hotel that has great service and it is smack in the middle of downtown. I worked there for 8 years and my ex-MIL (like her, can do without her son) still does. Its a great place to stay. Its attached to the pathway which is an underground walkway that you can pretty much shop till you drop and takes you all through downtown from underneath the city (wow that sounds very total recall like) and I take it everyday.

Welcome Deborah!!!! All us Canadians are starting to finally crept out of the woodwork. This has been a great thread for me and hopefully you will find it helpful as well!!! Just like Zanne all those inches gotta mean something!

I was a really good girl today I came home and exercised, made dinner, showered, got the laundry ready for tomorrow, fed the aminals, baked a cake with my daughter and even had time to eat my own dinner of chicken soup with brocolli, onion, tomatoe, mushrooms (no carbs for me today) I am so glad that I cooked all my meals on Sunday it makes it so much easier to stick to my food.

I am tired and I know why today. Usually I am to beat to even think about doing that stuff never mind actually getting it done.

I have heard of the GI diet and thought about trying it but my body just hates carbs and there are too many on that diet for me.

Seems the week is getting better for everyone!!! Have a great night all!

Wow, Thanks for all the congrats. I am amazed by the friendliness. But then we Canucks are a friendly bunch.

I read the GI [Glycemic Index] Diet Plan book, by Richard Gallop, a Canadian, who was the president of the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation. Basically it touted a stoplight theory of eating. Foods in the Green light zone you can eat to your heart's content...you fill up long before the calorie count kicks in.

The yellow lights are things light banasa anad peanut butter that you can have sometimes

Red light items should be avoided at all costs...special occasions not withstanding.

There really isn't very many carbs, if you portion out your carbs properly...I spent two weeks measuring 1/2 to 2/3 of a cup, by measure not weight, onto my plate until I could do it by sight...I know because I check myself every once in a while....

You eat portein and carbs in tandem. This is the diabetic part as the glycemis index was created as a measure of a food's relative sugar, the 100% baseline is sugar itself, only maltose is more at 105%.....

and it is 4 oz of protein and 1/2 to 2/3 cup of whole or multi grain pasta, slightly undercooked, or basmati or brown rice. and salad fruit etc. the ratio Rcichard use it 1/4 of your plate should be protein, 1/4 should be carbs, and 1/2 should be fruit and veggies.... You eat evry 3-4 hours to keep your blood sugar levels even...again the diabetes thing....

My biggest thing was the pasta...I was eating 3-4 servings at supper with the day care kids! The next worse is the fact that you aren't supposed to drink or eat caffiene and I love my coffee...so this week I am finally going to decaf..... You can drink all the tea, clear, that you want.

Sorry if I sound like an encyclopaedia but I just finished an article on this very thing...It came out on Sheknows.com the same week the Diet came out in Woman''s World.... I am doing another on Low carb cheeses for them later this month.

I hope this helps with some of the questions you all had from my original post

and it it great to see you all

Good morning all!!!! Its Wednesday and I am down one more pound!!!! Yay me!!!. glad I got the exercise in last night makes me feel if I don't do it in the morning (takes to long to wake up) than I can do it at night.

Going to be another busy day today and I must do laundry tonight or I will be going to work naked tomorrow and face lets face a one pound loss is not going to impress the commuters!!

Have a great day!
