Hi Ladies,
I could'nt remember the name of our last thread so i've just opened another in the hope that you will find me :) I think it was "slow and steady wins the race in 2004" was'nt it? I'm sure that Terry will tell me

Hey! I think ya did well, Ms. Cat and thanks for getting us back up and running :) . This will be a quickie as I need to run and do a few errands. Chris' laptop is having problems -- under warranty -- and I need to take it into the store so Fed Ex can pick it up later this afternoon. Of course, if Russ remembered to take it this morning I wouldn't have to go out in this frigid weather :dizzy: . Men! Doing well with food control although I just had a few crackers -- no breakfast yet so we may call it that.
I'll check back in later -- missed you ladies :) .
Always, Terry

Hi Terry,
Wish the "post quick reply" option was working  i'm a lazy :moo: well, Monday was good..Tuesday was horrendous  i went hog wild  and had a total of 3700cals and a whopping 185g fat :yikes: it was chocolate..chocolate chocolate! So yesterday i did a juice fast..it was horrible and i can't believe that i managed it..i even made hubbies dinner without licking the spoon  made no difference to the weight tho" so much for the claim that you will lose 4-5lbs overnight  but at least it will have helped to balance out the previous day..I WILL NEVER do it again. Today i've had a poached egg on toast, an english muffin, lunch is ham followed by key lime yogurt and dinner is.. :T roast beef. spuds, cabbage, brussels and carrots..da-da..oh, and i've even put down a low carb beer..all for 980cals :cp: what a deal!

Way to go, Cathy!! I just got home from the grocery store and bought some good healthy stuff so we're all back in business :). I am making burgers tonight so I will have that without the bread and a salad. I had ham and cottage cheese and a sugar free jello with a bit of cool whip for lunch -- have to be careful with those because I could eat a dozen at one sitting I am sure!
OK, laundry calls --- catch ya all on the rebound :)

Hello ladies,
Day 7 of being back in control. Of course the scale did not co-operate today and show any kind of loss but then again neither did it show a gain either so I'll take it. It's also TOM so I'm sure next week will look a little better.
Very excited as we get Makenzie overnight tomorrow so Auntie Pam will get to play and watch Monsters Inc. She's just so darn cute. If I ever figure out our scanner again I"ll post her latest picture. She's so big already. She's only turning 2 but she's into size 3 and is probably around 37 lbs. or so. Her hair is long and curly now so Marni puts it up in a top ponytail or two little pig tails....to adorable.
Cathy, throw out the chocolate if you haven't already and don't buy anymore. I so commend you in doing the juice fast; those are just soooo nasty aren't they? Never again is all I can say.
Terry, I too love the fat free jello and coolwhip desserts. Too good. I'm such a little kid though that I always lick the serving spoon off too and Erwin gets mad at me for double dipping :) I told him not to look if it bothers him. We're the only two people in the house and if that grosses him out then he should stop kissing me too.
Back to work I go, slacking I shall call it, attention span of 0 today but I'll fake it 'til I make it.
Bye for now,
Pam

Hey ladies,
Glad to see us back up and running.. I missed you guys.
I have been doing good, back at Curves and also back to my pre-holiday weight.. :D
Hubby and I went for groceries this morning and bought only healthy snacks and lots of fruit.. he is joining me on the new way of eating so this ought to be good for both of us.
Don't remember if I told you gals that I had to take hubby into the hospital at 1:30 Sunday morning with chest pains... they ruled out his heart, but have no idea what caused the pains. We were there till 7 am. then he slept the rest of the day and by Tuesday was fine... go figure. anyway was a big scare.. so eating healthy is the way to go...
Working in the office to day, but had to check in.. Will catch you all tomorrow.. have a good day and stay op

Pam :nono: throw chocolate out? Sacrilege  MOI? how can you ask me to do such a thing ;) LOL at the double dipping! I must admit that i don't like hubby getting a second helping with his spoon if i'm gonna have more but i don't say anything
Well, i changed the mealplan  i forgot that with my fasting yesterday there is leftover Shepherds Pie, so i had that for lunch with a slice of dry wholewheat bread instead of the ham and yogurt, so that has upped the cals a couple of hundred but its still a pretty good day :D Need to bring firewood in and then get ready for a stint on the treadmill

Does anyone remember me?
I posted last in September when I had surgery and have been having related problems ever since. Needless to say 2003 was NOT a good year!
But its a NEW year with new goals, right? So I thought I'd pop myself back in here and see what's going on! I'm back to a healthy lifestyle and all that goes with it (we all know what that is!).
So anyway, hope everyone is successful and happy this new year and we all reach our goals! Good luck!

Lisa! How nice to see you again! I am so sorry to hear you've not been well. I hope you are now fully recovered? How are the kids and your DH and of course all the critters :) I hope you'll not go away again. Most of our core group is still around...Terry, Cathy, Carol, Emily, and we've got some awesome new members too, Dahlia, Grandma G, Meigg, Barbara Ann and I'm sure I've missed a few too as I've been gone for a few months.
Take care and hope to hear from you soon.

Just checking in for today! Had my breakfast and did my Tae Bo (yep, I'm back to that again too!). I'm hoping for now to do TB on MWF; on Tuesday I did yoga and I just bought a pilates DVD that I did yesterday. And I'm very proud to say that I haven't touched any soda since last Saturday! I am, however, struggling to eat less carbs.
So we are heading to the store today so I can get some frozen fruits and some fresh veggies and I'm going to attempt to have at least one smoothie per day to start getting my fruit/veg intake up there. That's my biggest downfall - not getting enough of them!
Hope everyone else is doing great! I was happy to see this club has survived for so long.....what is it now? Two or three years? Has anyone ever heard from Riddle (I think she started us up)?
Take care!

Morning Ladies,
Hi Lisa, you sound just like me..eating too many carbs and not enough fruit and veggies  glad to have you back :D do you know that someone asked about you only the other day? Carol i think..could be wrong. We have'nt heard from Riddle for ages..she did put in an appearance and then vanished again  i think that was before we lost our "own" forum.
Yep, this group has had 3 happy years together :yikes: does'nt time fly when you're enjoying yourself :D
Well, yesterday turned into another :ink: fest :( i was doing so well and then let myself get too hungry  i was trying to wait for dinner (i hate having to make 2 lots) and waited and waited and then ended up :ink: ing out on a WHOLE PACKET of gingersnaps followed by chocolate..well, i knew that i'd blown it for the day so what the **** right? WRONG! Total 2300+ cals and 96g fat!! so i did'nt get the roast beef dinner  did'nt feel like it after all those cookies. Moral of the story..eat regularly.
Weighed in this morning with a feeble 1lb loss but happy not to see a gain this week.

Yo!
Welcome back, Lisa, and I was sorry to hear that you had such a rough 2003 -- raising my coffee in salute to a better 2004 for you and all your family :). Great job getting back on plan too!
Morning Pam, Dahlia, Cathy, Carol, Barbara Ann and all the rest of the gang.
Step aside, Cathy, Russ brought me a box of Valentines Day chocolates (don't freak :fr: :fr: it's still January) and I had a few -- not enough to do too much damage as the scale showed a loss this morning too. Slow and steady wins the race, dear Cat -- it takes time to banish all those cravings from our bods.
Pam, I'd love to see a pic of little Mackenzie -- I can't believe she is two years old now.
Ok, time to figure out why the phones are not working -- I know Russ paid the bill! One probably needs to be reset and hopefully it's not the one that comes in behind the computer desk asthat is impossible to move as it is just to dang heavy.
BTW, Dahlia, so glad :high: to hear that your husband is back to his old self -- what a scare that was.
Be back later, gators!!

You are up to early on a Saturday, go back to bed and enjoy it. I stayed in bed till 7 today, read a chapter in my book. Felt good.
Going to the show with hubby this afternoon, it's 12 deg. here but looks like another nice day.
I am with you on hoping everyone is fit and doing well today.

Good morning everyone! Good grief - you girls start early on weekends! I slept in until almost 8 and woke with a terrible headache. Been waiting for it to go away before I start my workout. I was planning on doing my Tae Bo Focus Abs/Glutes workout today and then I read it was an Advanced workout. While I can barely get through a Basic tape, I still want to try to do the focus, so wish me luck!
Its cold as usual here in Wisconsin - what did I expect?! Not much planned today except for working out and taking down Christmas decorations (yes - I know I'm behind! LOL!), but I better get going!
Hope everyone has a wonderful and successful weekend!

Good morning and happy Sunday to all! Well, no work out today is scheduled since its my day off, but I'm sure while watching the Packer game, I'll get my cardio in! LOL!
I am VERY sore today after doing that abs/glutes workout yesterday - I can sure feel it in my abs and hips! I hope the pain is gone by tomorrow so I can resume my regular weekly workouts.
Dahlia - what show did you go to with your DH? I'm also glad to hear he is doing better. I am hoping they ran ALL the tests to make sure there really wasn't something hiding in there that can cause the pains again in the future. When I mentioned 2003 was a bad year, a lot of it was heart-related. My mom was hospitalized several times, twice for her heart. My dad suffered two heart attacks in May, full blown cardiac arrest and actually died for a bit before they brought him back. I know how scary chest pains can be!
CoolMom - Are there any chocolates left? ;)
Sammy - All our critters are doing great. We did lose one bird, but gained another! We still have two dogs, an inside cat, a guinea pig, a bird, fish, and outside we have 4 horses, 11 cats, 6 rabbits, guinea hens, chickens, peacocks and a pheasant. I think the fish, some rabbits and the guinea hens are all new since the last time I was here! And Cool Whip! Don't get me started on that yummy stuff! My mom used to joke with me and tell me she'd get me a case for my honeymoon! :o I love the stuff!
Well, I'm gonna take this very sore body to the shower right now and hope that it helps. Then off to church I go. The afternoon will be devoted to, yep, you guessed it football fans - THE PACKERS!
Take care all!

Good mornin', ladies!
Yes, I'm still around although it took a few days to get me re-registered here.
I'm sticking to my plan but had to come up with a new one. The "Have a tooth pulled so you can't chew plan" got to be difficult to stick with  but I've found another one that has some merit. Yesterday, I took it very slow (or so I thought) working out with my 16 yr. old son on his new weight bench. I had him show me the proper form and hardly had any weight on the machine at all. Well...let's just say that there shouldn't be any problem with overeating today as I can hardly raise me arms to get my hand to my mouth. (Leans over to get sip of coffee from straw.) Sure...go ahead and laugh...the really scary part is wondering what "plan" I'll come up with next week! :dizzy:
Have a great Sunday everyone! Take care, Barb--

Good morning ladies,
Well we survived having Makenzie overnight on Friday although I'm not sure how long it will take me to recover sleep wise. Auntie's prescious little angel was wide awake at 6:15 in the a.m. and raring to go. She's such a good girl though and we had alot of fun; she just needs to understand that Auntie Pam is not alot of fun until that first cup of coffee hits the system :)
Lisa, your boundless energy in looking after that many animals never ceases to amaze me. Hope your body forgives you from the ab routine.
Barbara-Ann, I didn't meant to LOL at your experience with weights it's just that it reminded me of the first time I got my husband to show me the ropes with the free weights. I must have felt some insane motive to show my DH just how strong I was; needless to say I blew that out of the water the next morning when I couldn't hardly move. Not quite the sexy, strong aura I was trying to convey LOL. Hope you're feeling better.
Good morning to Terry, Cathy, Carol, Dahlia, and all of our other friends.....I've spent just enough time on the net this morning that if I don't get the lead out I'm going to be one of those people who rush into church and try to be inconspicuous as the whole congregation looks to see who it was that couldn't show up on time LOL.
Have a great morning ladies and I'll check in later.

Good afternoon ladies,
Lisa nice to see you posting again.. wow you have quite the menagerie, hope I spelled that right..
I went to church this morning, seems no matter what time I leave I always get there just as the procession is about to start.
Pam, sounds like you had fun with McKensie.. but they sure can make us feel our age or older. Wish I had half the energy those little ones have.. my two grandbabies are coming over later this afternoon for grandpa and me to watch them while their parents borrow our delivery van and go do some shopping. Today is my dil's birthday. I think I'll invite them to stay for supper, and bake her an angel food cake.. I love to watch my grandson eat cake and ice cream, he loves it...:hun:
Barbara, I could just see you this morning.. after lifting the weights.. but it will get easier.
Ok well, got to go eat some lunch, will catch you all later.
Have an *op* day and enjoy your Sunday

Hi Ladies,
I was beat too this morning but it was'nt because of a 2 yr old it was because of a 50yr old  (get your mind out of the gutter Terry  ) he was drinking at his workshop with the guy who's equipment he's fixing and it was 20 to 1 before he came up to the house  i heard him rummaging around and came down to check out the devastation (he always makes a mess in the kitchen) and he was asleep in his chair with the electric fire on in front of him so i switched it off wrapped up the bread that he'd left opened, put the cheese back in the fridge that he'd left on the counter  and went back to bed. A while later i heard him again so waited until it was all quiet and then came down again..the fire was on AGAIN..he was asleep AGAIN and there was a family sized bag of chips spilled all over the floor  and a packet of biscuits left opened so i turned the fire off AGAIN..put the biscuits away and then went to bed AGAIN then about half an hour later he was at it again so i waited till it was all quiet and then did my final check..it was 4.30am by this time and i was so angry and had a tension headache that i could'nt sleep :( i think i must have dropped off about 5.30am and was having a dream about him having a crash in his truck of all things  when the phone rang and woke me up it was 6.30am and the guy he was with was ringing to see if he was ready to go to work  i've been up ever since :( he'd better look out tonight when he comes home but i'm sure he's beat too so hopefully we'll both get some sleep. Its cardio day for me (if i have the energy  ) and then i think i'll go to the superstore they have some great fitness equipment in stock i was tempted to buy the Bodyflex because i've read from a few people that it actually works even if they have been charged with misrepresentation <-
Anyway, i've got to bring firewood in and then get some exercise done so i'll get going

First a quick question and then I'll post what I received in my mailbox today.
How do you get the quick-reply feature here to work? It certainly would be nice to have. I use it on another board and love it.
OH, and can I say it? Go Pack Go! Still in the first quarter, but we are winning and looking good doing it!
Now, this came to my email box just a few minutes ago and I thought we all could appreciate it:
THE MONTH AFTER CHRISTMAS
Twas the month after Christmas, and all through the house
Nothing would fit me, not even a blouse.
The cookies I'd nibbled, the eggnog I'd taste
At the holiday parties had gone to my waist.
When I got on the scales there arose such a number!
When I walked to the store (less a walk than a lumber).
I'd remember the marvelous meals I'd prepared;
The gravies and sauces and beef nicely rared,
The wine and the rum balls, the bread and the cheese
And the way I'd never said, "No thank you, please."
As I dressed myself in my husband's old shirt
And prepared once again to do battle with dirt---
I said to myself, as I only can
You can't spend a winter disguised as a man!"
So--away with the last of the sour cream dip,
Get rid of the fruit cake, every cracker and chip
Every ! last bit of food that I like must be banished
Till all the additional ounces have vanished.
I won't have a cookie--not even a lick.
I'll want only to chew on a long celery stick.
I won't have hot biscuits, or corn bread, or pie,
I'll munch on a carrot and quietly cry.
I'm hungry, I'm lonesome, and life is a bore---
But isn't that what January is for?
Unable to giggle, no longer a riot.
Happy New Year to all and to all a good diet!
Dahlia

Lisa, right at the bottom of the thread is the quick reply..I am using it now...there is nothing to do but type...
Cathy, why all the bringing in of wood if you use an electric fire? and why didn't your hubby just go to bed since he was cold and tired.. I'd have left the mess on the floor and let him clean it up in the morning... that is just not nice of him at all..
Hope everyone is having a good Sunday, mine is doing ok.. kids decided they didn't want to stay for supper so we just had cake and icecream.. ended up making a jello cake and only a small one.
My granddaughter was tired and crabby and the little guy was full of mischief so I am whipped. I have some candles burning and I think I am going to just sit and relax for a bit this evening. Will check in tomorrow after I get back from Curves.

Thank you Dahila for helping me....on another board that I post on, there is a button you have to click in order to use the quick reply feature.
Cathy - I agree with Dahlia - I would have left the mess for him to clean up! Men, sometimes, huh?
I must have done something to my hip during my work out yesterday....it hurts terribly. If I sit down for any length of time, it hurts even worse, so I'm trying to walk around. Think maybe its a pulled muscle? Any clues?
Packers just lost.....I think it was a misread play but Favre probably feels the worst. He launched that ball into to Eagle players! Oh well....... [Can you tell I'm a Packer fan?!?!!!!]
I was going to treat myself to some Sun Chips and a Dt. Dew today but decided the Dew was too much, so I just had a handful of chips. Maybe will get in another smoothie tonight.
Guess that's all for now! Will check back in tomorrow, if I can walk!

It took me so long to get back in here I forgot what Iwas going to say..
oh yea... Lisa, sorry to hear about your hip.. you could have hurt your back and the pain is diffused into your hip... I did that once. I ruptured a couple disks in my back and I thought someone had taken a sledge hammer to my hip,,I could barely walk.. finally went to the doctor and that was the problem. So be very careful, try ice and heat, see which works best for you, and rest it for at least 24 hours. Keep us posted how it is doing.
I just got back from Curves this morning. Am working in the office today. I finally got my house all rearranged and my living room looks so big with the tree gone and one chair and ottoman moved to another room. I have so much space, but it is good when the grandbabies come over. They need lots of space, and us to chase them around... we sure do enjoy them little ones.. and I am getting anxious to see my new granddaughter who is due in another 3 months. I'll have to get some pictues of the 3 of them and post it so you can all see them...
Well, I better get moving here. Making name tags for us gals at work right now.. I love the little things that go along with having a business.. the fun stuff...I get to be creative.
Have a good one everyone and will check in later, hope there are more posts.
Everytime they update this forum it changes... wish they would just decide what they want and stick with it.. :dizzy: Lisa the quick reply is not on today...

Glad to see the board up again (with the quick reply!)! I wasn't able to work out this morning but have been trying to take it easy and did use a heating pad last night. At 2 a.m. Tylenol with Codiene was a wonderful thing! LOL!
Just doing laundry today, cleaning the house a bit and have a meeting with my DD's teachers this afternoon, just to see how she's doing. She is in public school this year and it was a big change for her, but she's doing better than she was doing in our private school! We just meet once every 4-6 weeks to make sure she's still on task.

About the quick reply, that only works once you are logged in :D i usually clear cookies from my computer so i have to log in the first time i use the site, if i have'nt bothered to clear cookies the site remembers me and the quick reply is visible at the bottom of the page...Dahlia make sure the "remember me" box is checked :)
Pam, Yes it is the breathing one with some kind of exercise bar i think i did'nt really look at the box i just noticed it..i'll check it out when i go out i don't really fancy holding my breath and making funny faces  one woman on a thread said that her little daughters watch it just to see the woman make funny faces..it makes them laugh :^:
Lisa..hope that your hip feels better today.
Dahlia..all the firewood is for the wood furnace but when hubby comes home from working out in the elements all day he is usually frozen to the bone and has a habit of turning on an electric fire even tho' the house is always a lovely 70-75 degrees
He came home poorly last night..full of a cold and when i mentioned the chips on the floor he apologised for not having the time to sweep them up so i could'nt really shout at him could i? :s:

Wow! I'm the first to check in this morning - even all your eary birds? Actually I was up at 6 a.m. this morning, so I really shouldn't talk, should I? During the week I get up between 6-6:30 but on weekends, I really love to sleep in.
I'm feeling better today so I did my regularly scheduled yoga tape this morning. I just took it a bit easier than normal. Tomorrow I'm hoping to get back to my Tae Bo Basic. If I attempt that advanced tape again this weekend, I'll be sure to take it easier.
The water's still going down well, no soda in 9 days, and I've been having a fruit and/or veg smoothie every day since Saturday.
I'm trying to think of some small rewards for myself. I'm thinking after the first 20 lbs of buying the new Tae Bo Capture The Spirt DVD. But not sure what else I can reward myself with.....Hmmm....maybe shrimp at Red Lobster? LOL!
Well, tha'ts all for now! Hope everyone else is sticking to it too! Good luck!

Hi Ladies,
Went shopping and bought 2 new exercise tapes..stability ball for dummies  (i bought the ball ages ago and don't know what to do with it  ) and Kathy Smith's working out with weights 2..i tried a bit of that one last night but she never used any weights :( it was more of a balance/shift your body weight type of thing. I hope she does use some weights because thats why i bought it...well, she must because she said at the beginning that you need some 3 + 5lb dumbbells..guess i pressed 'stop' before we got to that bit  When i got to the checkout the cashier said "ooh, everyone is buying exercise stuff" i replied "its January" and she laughed. I went to the superstore to check out their selection and there was nothing left only some Winsor Pilates tapes and i was a bit mad when i saw the price :rollpin: they are selling individual tapes for just under $12 now!

I have a funeral to go to at 11am so hopefully it will be a bit warmer by the time we get to the cemetary. MY cousin's husband died from liver cancer (64 yrs old) Saturday. I hate going to funerals and wakes since my dad died, but it's the right think to do.
I have been off a bit this week on my food choices so I am not sure what the scale will show tomorrow. I am trying here but it ain't easy!
Cathy, you must have tons of exercise videos which is good because of variey -- I have heard good things about Kathy Smith too. Enjoy!
Lisa, I posted a a few times on another board because it was the diet I was following, but no one commented so I said "adios" ..... I do post over at WW Online and have been for over 2 yrs. It is hard to break into a group especially when they have been there for quite awhile. Makes me wonder if we are friendly enough here when new ladies come on board ... I think we all are :) .
Morning Dahlia -- I smiled at you rearranging all the furniture because when I attempt to do that, it always ends up back in the same place except for maybe a table or two :). We live in a small raised ranch so perhaps that is the problem. I love watching HGTV and in particular the show where they change just a room by rearranging all the furniture and accessories. Always looks so much better -- perhaps I need them here!
Ms. Pam, if you are reading, hope you are keeping warm up there -- I know Cathy is with all that firewood. Morning, Carol :). Have not heard from Barbara, Wannabe and Grandma and Meg for awhile and I hope all is well.
Coffee should be done by now. This ended up being a longer post than I thought. I read an articles the other day mentioning that online message boards are the true reality show -- except no one gets booted off. Makes sense when you think about it!
Have a great day and think "just a few pounds at a time" :).
Always, Terry

Morning ladies,
Just a quick note here this morning, I am moving kind of slow today, had my grandson to myself yesterday, and he is a handful, I was feeling the old body when he left left last night :). Going to go to curves in a about half an hour, then come home and do some office work. It's snowing out again and 16 degrees outside..but when I get done at curves I am usually warm enough for several hours. Gets the circulation going. Scale is still fluctuating, wish it would make up its mind... and head downward and stay there. I am determined but think I need to add something to my routine to get some more action going..hopefully when I am back at the greenhouse doing physical labor everyday, and away from the kitchen, things will start moving faster.
Hope everyone is doing good, in answer to your guestion, I think we are good to the newcomers, I felt welcome when I started, and I hope the others do too. Can't believe I have been in here a whole 2 years already, time sure flies when you are having fun..LOL
Ok, gotta go, hope more of you post, we like to know how everyone is doing.
Dahlia
Terry, some things do end up back in the original place but even one thing moved around makes it seem fresh and new.... but I like to change my stuff around at least a couple times a year... my furniture can and does end up in many rooms over the years. :)

Good mornin', ladies!
As a newcomer...let me reassure you that you are all very welcoming. :) I've been trying to find a schedule that works well for me and so far that means getting out of the house early to run errands and then get back and do 20 things at once around here.
I'm staying in today as it is snowing like crazy...truth be told, I'm calling it a Pajama day and not showering until 2 before my sons get home! :D I can officially be part of the "10 lbs. at a time" group....yep, the scale has moved and I'm down 10 pounds! :cb:
Still having a tough time getting used to eating breakfast...haven't in about 30 years. Tried a new high fiber cereal that I've heard so many talk about...took a bite right after I poured the milk on and got concerned I was going to chip a tooth! Waited about 15 minutes and it tasted like soggy tree bark...hmmm, this is going to take some getting used to. Slimfast in the a.m. seems to be the easiest for me so maybe I'll use the cereal as a threat with my boys: "Clean your rooms or you'll have to eat a bowl of this...and I mean it!"
Well, I'm going to go do a 2 mile WATP video and some upper arm exercises (flossing to get the rest of the "tree bark" out of my teeth!).
Take care, Barb--

Hi Ladies,
Barbara, CONGRATULATIONS on the 10lbs loss :bravo: can you tip us off about what tree bark not to buy? poor kids being threatened with that   it just might work tho' ;) i've been thinking about trying that Kashi..its not that is it? i've not bought any yet because A. its expensive for a small box and B. I'm not sure if i will like it
Terry..i've just counted and i've got 15 videos so not so bad yet  I should really start using them more and getting some variety like you say :) i tend to buy a new one get all gung-ho for a week and then put it on the shelf with the others  i was like that with the Pilates tapes..i've not used them for ages now :( btw, i did the stability ball for dummies yesterday and i've given it 2 thumbs up  the instructor is very good only trouble is i don't feel like i've done a workout..nothing is sore and i found it easy so maybe its not as good as i thought..it was fun tho' especially the push ups..you basically slide right over the ball until it supports your lower body and your legs and feet are up in the air and your arms are on the floor supporting your upper body and then you do push ups ;) it takes all the strain out of the exercise. I might try the Kathy Smith one this morning but she makes ya work tho' :yikes:
Lisa, i've found that i've been made welcome at all the threads that i've "jumped" into :D I post on a couple in the support groups..LWL and UK fat chicks and they are all brilliant..just like here :D

Hi again ladies,
Just want to put in my two cents worth.. first of all , I tried Kashi over a year ago.. it was yucky,, I didn't like it all. And Cathy just cause your ball exercises don't make you sore don't mean they aren't working.. I am never sore after working out at curves yet I am loosing inches all over...
What is this :) suppose to be..? I notice they are all over the place.

Sorry to say but it was indeed Kashi...the "Good Friends Cinna Raisin Crunch". I wouldn't have any *good friends* if I offered them some of this! :joker:
Then again...it's been ages since I've eaten cereal so I might not be the best judge. I do like the "Post Healthy Classics Fruit & Bran, Peaches, Raisins & Almonds" and plain ol' Cheerios.
Barb-- who's not yet sure about these strange creatures either!

I *thought* :dizzy: I had posted here this morning and come to find that I had not! Ooops! Well, I did my Tae Bo Live Basic tape this morning. Why is it the more you work out (meaning as time goes by), the more you sweat? Last week I barely broke a sweat, but this week I am? :hot:
I'm alternating most of my videos, so that really helps break the monotony of exercise. MWF is Tae Bo Basic (I have several versions so I do one each week), Tuesday is Yoga, Thursday is Pilates and Saturday is a Tae Bo Focus video (the one that kicked my :censored: last weekend! ). Once I'm doing well with the TB Basic videos, I will switch over to the Advanced. I also have several Denise Austin tapes I could do, but she can get irritating over time. :headache:
I read this morning in order to figure out your water intake, you divide your weight in half and that's the number of ounces you are supposed to drink. I should be getting in 100 ounces, and I've only been getting between 72 and 96 in. So I have to work on that.
Okay, what is it with these little green-haird dudes? :?: They certainly are strange looking! :)
Barbara! :bravo: :cp: :jig:  :balloons: :cheer: :encore: :high: :cb: :dancer: They are all for you girl! Way to go!
I was thinking another thing we can do for newcomers is actually invite them down here for a visit. There's threads started for people looking for support and/or a buddy....maybe we should make it a point every once in a while to check up there and invite them in?
Well, I'm off to find something to do. I will check back in later! Take care all!

Hey you all,
I'm hanging in here and doing alright on program. I stopped counting Points as it really makes me obsess and with my state of mind these days, that is just one more stressor that I do not need!
Good news though, I don't have to take anymore night classes. Our controller and my boss feel I've got enough courses under my belt to have made a big improvement to my job performance so they are satisfied and so am I ;) I just feel relieved to know I don't have to go back in March.
Lisa, I am happy that you are still doing Tae Bo. I always think I should pull out my tapes but I'm lazy and hit the treadmill instead.
Cathy, I'm catching up fast on your heels for most workout videos owned. I've got 4 WATP tapes, 1 pilates, 3 firm tapes, 2 aerobics tapes, 1 abs tapes, and 1 Tae Bo tape. I don't count the yoga tapes because they haven't even been cracked yet but there are 4 of those lurking in my entertainment unit :dizzy:
Terry, sorry to hear about your loss. Funerals are tough even though they are a part of life. Hugs and hopes that you made out alright.
Dahlia, glad that Curves is working so well for you. My best friend just loves it and my girlfriend from college just started going too and is full of raves. Hope you are rested from having your grandchild over to visit.
Barb, you cracked me up with the tree bark cereal stuff. I've eaten just the plain Good Friends and was sooo not impressed. For a high fibre cereal try Fibre 1. It's pretty edible, kind of sweet and doesn't turn to mush. I promise. Let me know how you make out with the threat to your kids. Good stuff to keep on reference in case "Auntie" Pam has to get tough
Well weigh in is tomorrow for me. For once I'm not dreading it. I am just trying to focus on making good food choices, watch my portions and get my exercise and water in. I'll let you know how it goes.
Have a great day and a big hi to all I've missed.
Pam

Congrats on not having to do any more courses Pam :cp:

Hi Everyone!
Pam - I was doing the WW at home program two years ago and the point counting got to me too. :dizzy: The way I look at it now is that a healthy lifestyle is only accomplished through common sense and the practice of it! Just do what you know is healthy and run from there.
Wanna talk exercise vids? Check this out: 13 Tae Bo tapes, 7 Denise Austin tapes and a new pilates DVD. Beleive it or not, I'm looking at getting the new Tae Bo Capture The Spirit DVD set at my first goal or for my birthday :gift: ! Am I nuts, or what? :chin:
Sammy - One of these days I'll challenge you to do a Tae Bo tape with me. How's that? :)
Well, today hasn't necessarily been off program, but I don't Culver's burgers are considered "on" either! I'll make it up for it at supper tonight by only having my smoothie and a small bowl of chowder. I did do a double up pilates workout today too, so hopefully that helps balance out my lunch! And of course, I'm working on my water!
BTW - Everytime I think about soggy tree bark and using it as a threat against children, I STILL chuckle! That was soo funny!
Well, gotta run! My son will be home in 20 minutes; my daughter in 30. Then the fun begins!

Good morning, Ladies! Where is everyone? I need ya! Besides the darn Culvers meal yesterday, I also had two handfuls of (fat free) chips last night. And my scale isn't moving, despite the 10 days of exercise & water and almost a week of extra fruits and veggies!
I am hoping that its the muscle I'm building that is slowing the weight loss down?
Its Friday - heading for the weekend. I know we'll spend some of the time watching some great football game this weekend. We usually load up on snacks for games like this, but the only thing we bought was tortilla chips & guacamole and my fat free chips, so that's an improvement (kinda!). DH is off today and this weekend, I think, so life gets a bit tougher when he's around. Why is it I get more housework done when he's not here? :?:
Well, I'm working on almost 48 oz of water already. Had to go feed my neighbors horses cuz her DH broke his ankle in three spots yesterday and is in surgery today. :( Got my TB workout in and need to hit the shower before heading into the big city (that's what you get when you live in the boonies!)
So what is everyone else up to?

Good Morning Ladies,
Its getting quiet around here again :( No Loss for me this week..exactly the same as last week but i've only had 4 days OP and last night i cheated too..i pinched 4 of hubbies fries and had them on a butty (slice of bread) ;) it won't have put me much over 1700 cals so i won't worry about it :D Thighs are'nt "bendable" today so i know that my exercise routine is working. Don't know what to do today :chin: i have so much to choose from  i've even got to the point where i'm torn between one video or another  I want to do the stability ball tho' because i've inflated the ball properly and it should be better now cos i'll be sat in the right position. Good evening everyone! Checking in kinda late, but we had a busy day today! I agree, Cat, its awfully quiet in here! Come on ladies - don't give up! We are all doing so great and I love to read about everyone else's lives, and gleaning motivation and encouragement from you all!
I'm looking forward to tomorrow - my day of no exercising! LOL! 6 days a week gets tiring! I'm still waiting for that "high" everyone talks about, that energy that exercising is supposed to give you. I'm more tired since I started working out!
I logged a .5 loss this week. Not that much but with everything I got going against me, I'll take it! Wow, This screen is doing weird things, I can't see what I'm typing on a few lines....weird!
Well, guess that's it for tonight...I'll check in again tomorrow, sometime between the playoff games!

Good morning Ladies,
Well once again this week, no scale movement. I'm trying very hard not to get discouraged. I know that I am tightening up again for exercising faithfully so I know sooner or later, the scale will catch up. Right now I'm concentrating on how much better I am feeling by being back in control.
Spent a lovely day yesterday out at my friends house with her whole family and parents. Lots of giggling and playing with the kids. I'm sure her kids sleep like logs when they finally give it up and go to sleep. If I had half of their energy I'd be set :)
Well I'm off to church and then as Erwin informed me, watching the NFL game on TV today. I guess that means he's not going to let me vacuum upstairs LOL.
Have a great day ladies.

Morning! Oops. it's 12:05pm so that means "Good Afternoon!" :D
I just went back and caught up on the last two pages of posts -- I was waiting with bated breath for Barbara to say the cereal was "Kashi" and I was right  :smug: ! I bought a box of that once and I called it "sticks" -- THEY DO NOT get mushy which brought to mind nails going thru my system. Think battering rams or snow plows. :yikes: No wonder it keeps you regular -- so does powdered fiber in coffee which is a heck of a lot better  .
I'm afraid I am not a good source of motivation here as I have been off (more like dead - down - out) my plan all week. But I did buy the new SBD paperback last night so I will be back in business Monday.
It's snowing right now and it looks so beautiful and peaceful out.
I gather some of you are having things fly past your screens?? Either I am still half asleep or my pop up filter is working because I don't see anything.
Not much on tap for today except football -- I am in Patriots country so this house will be rockin' later today.
Barbara, I love the cereals with the dried fruits -- Cherrios just came out with a new one with dried bananas, and then there is my favorite Special K with Berries. And, before I leave, a great big :cheer: & on your ten pound loss!!!!!! Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dahlia, Pam, Cathy, Carol, Lisa, Emily, Barbara .... see ya all later and have a wonderful Sunday :).

Hi Ladies
Terry..i'm not seeing any 'flying things' either so my pop up killer must be working a treat  mind you its not been 'ringing' so maybe there are'nt any around now :dizzy: I did'nt exercise yesterday but i did get some with all the cleaning and moving furniture that i did..my computer is now back upstairs in my gym ;) i just had to get away from hubby and his obsession with CNN  i just can't watch a soap or a movie when he is home..its terrible! He puts the tv on in the dining area and i can hardly hear what i'm watching in the lounge so i'll turn the volume then he does :rollpin: anyway, i've admitted defeat and have got quiet somewhat upstairs although its not totally peaceful as the house is all open plan so i can still hear the other tv a little  now he wants to know why i've moved my computer  (MEN) i might just bring the lazyboy upstairs next and the big screen tv :s:
Dahlia
01-18-2004, 07:14 PM
 I can just see you Cathy, lugging all that furniture upstairs and your poor hubby down in an empty room  :comp: and you typing away while you watch tv and exercise all at once...
Well, this morning I took my :tread: out of retirement and gave it a workout. I have to build back up again, but it's a start. I'm not sure if I will be going to curves tomorrow or not.. we have been getting lake effect snow all day and it is quite windy out so there are drifts across our driveway and our road needs to be plowed. I am a half mile away from the main highway but I may as well be in Siberia when the road drifts. We seem to be the last road plowed out by the county too.. :rollpin:
Anyway, I've done well this weekend. I watched a show on tv earlier about this real heavy lady, who topped the scales at 335 and was having drastic stomach surgery done as a last resort. They showed taking out 75% of her stomach and dropping it into a bucket.. I wanted to (upchuck), but it was scary. I am not anywhere near that bad of a situation but I can see how it can accellerate into that easily.. she had to take 17 different types of medications for all the things wrong with her. Some of them were causing her problems with weight and some were because of it,, a vicious circle. I felt so bad for her.
Anyway, going to go make some supper now, I haven't seen my dh for most of the day. He is upstairs watching football on one tv, while I had the other one down here,, but I got tired of watching and came in to read posts.. but ladies,, :coach: there was only one from Cathy since I last checked.. come one girls :cheer: we need to post and keep each others motivation going. :gossip: we need each other. :grouphug:
Ok. enjoy the rest of the day. Will check back in the morning and there better be some posts :comp: :write: if you know what is good for you
:sumo: :stars: :yikes:

Just checking in per Dahlia's request! :) I love to come on and see a bunch of posts too, so keep up with the posting, even though its weekend! Any news is good news!
Pam - I know what you mean about kids' energy levels! I have a DS6 who is active almost all his waking hours. I can't believe how much energy children have, but then my son does sleep very sound at night! Oh, to just bottle some of it up - we'd be rich!
FWIW - I don't get pop ups either....must be the software we all have.
Terry - The SBD is supposed to be great. My mom was on it for awhile and lost 12 lbs really fast. I love my carbs too much to stick to it! :o
Cathy - I wonder if CNN is a man thing. Between that and "talk" radio (NPR), I certainly get my fill of news and other political stuff.
But then there's football.....the TV has been on all day with that stuff. Thankfully I do follow it a little bit...enough to find out who's going to the SuperBowl at least!
Last night we watched Bruce Almighty - man, that was funny! Glad I talked my DH into watching it with us. Today I spent most of the day working on stuff to sell on Ebay. I need to make a few $$ because my "work" [karaoke] speakers are shot and I need to buy a new set (anywhere between $400 and $1000!).
Well, here's my bad news for the day. DH and DD went to the store earlier today and after they got back, I discovered that my DD had stolen some gum. So back to the store we went where I made her confess to management what she did. I can't begin to tell you how angry, upset and disappointed I was. At 14 years old, one should know better! The store manager was very nice to her and didn't press charges - although I almost wish they would have. She's now in her room writing a 2 page essay on what she learned and why stealing is wrong, and she's grounded from anything "fun" until I decide otherwise. How long would you ground your teenager if they did something like this? I know I have to set a limit somewhere, but at the time I couldn't because I was so upset I would have told her she was grounded until she was 18! So I needed some thinking time before issuing a crime-approriate groundation period. Any advice would certainly help.
Okay, well thanks for listening. I'm sorry I had to vent that but it was good to get it out.
Cool Mom
01-19-2004, 10:34 AM
Morning! ;)
Gosh, Lisa, what a weekend you had. I commend you on making your daughter accountable and returning the gum. Why not ask her how long she should be grounded for? I have occasionally done that with my kids -- ask them what they would do in my shoes if it was their child, etc. Whatever length of time you choose, just remember to stick to your guns. As long as she learns her lesson that is all that matters. I also loved Bruce Almighty even though I am not a huge fan of Jim Carey's -- a bit too slapstick and goofy for me at times.
Dahlia, good for you for breaking out the treadmill as I am thinking of doing that today as well. We only got about 3" of snow yesterday but it came down slowly all day so it was pretty and peaceful to watch.
Cathy, like Dahlia, I had a great visual of you dragging furniture and your computer. I can't even begin to imagine moving the computer with all those wires -- it's like a jungle down there. As a news hound myself, and a lover of both talk radio and CNN, I can't fault John too much -- we junkies have to stick together! Don't hate me now .... :^: :) .
I promise I am going to be very good today with all my food choices -- I really got out of control last week. I think all it takes is one bad day and then it's the dominoe effect taking over. And, Dahlia, thinking about having 75% of your stomach removed is incentive enough for me to really do this. Scary stuff.
OK, ladies, let's try for an OP day today whatever your plan maybe -- think summer and shorts!
Off to read the paper and my coffee -- :)
Always, Terry

WHAT??!! No new posts since my lsat visit?? Of course it was 1 minute ago!
I found this bit of inspiration in an email this morning and thought I would pass it along. I know it's common sense but we lose sight of that at times so it's worth reinforcing -- at least I do anyway!
Overcoming the Urge to Splurge
Are you wrestling with the urge to splurge on junk food? You have two choices: Either indulge yourself and make up for it later, or figure out a way to work through the temptation. One Beachgoer shares her strategy for staying on the wagon:
"When I quit smoking about 20 years ago, I was able to cope in the following way, and I think it might work when a cookie is calling your name: Change your environment-that is, get up and walk away. You might want to put something legal in your mouth to help the cravings, but then go into another room or walk around the block. And while you are walking, remember why you are doing this to begin with! Picture yourself in that dress that you are longing to wear, or the bathing suit or the skirt. Just get through those difficult 10 or 15 minutes as best you can!"

01-19-2004, 11:33 AM
Terry: I have both the Cheerios with bananas and SpecialK with berries and love them. I found some cookie recipes to use up the Kashi....just don't know who I'd inflict the cookies on. I'll wait to see if any of my neighbors tick me off!
Had a nice week-end. Like zookeeper, I take Sundays off from exercise which is nice as I usually try to do a lot on Saturdays. My fave restaurant "Macaroni Grill" added quite a few new/healthy items to their menu. We went last night and I loved the Portabella grilled chicken and instead of it being served on pasta...I got grilled asparagus. I also...and this may well be a first...pushed my plate away when I was full without finishing. And best of all...I didn't bite or growl at the server when they took my plate away! That's right....we're talkin' some serious progress! ;)
My sons are home from school which means my routine of "finding" the house after the week-end has to wait til tomorrow. I like to at least appreciate it looking good for a few hours. We're going to clean the basement though and while down there...I'll do work-out on son's weight machine. I'm making improvements every other day..as expected but am most proud of my scary grunting noise I've mastered like the guys!
Have a great day (for a Monday)! Take care, Barb--

Barbara -- morning! Since I am trying to cut back on carbs, I have no problem ordering a steamed or grilled vege instead of the rice or baked potato or fries when we eat out, and we do that quite often. I thought I would miss it, but I really don't. The bread basket is still a problem though but one step at a time! I had the Cheerios with Bananas last night for the first time and I really loved it too. I am waiting for someone to come out with packaged freeze dried fruits (like those that are in those cereals already) so that you can add them yourselves to any type of cereal or oatmeal, etc.
Back to laundry -- amazing how that basket never empties out no matter how hard you try to keep up!
And, I agree, nothing worse than having the kids home on Mondays -- wait a minute I take that back -- throw in the husband and it's a horrible start to the week :).
Later Gators!

Hi girls,
Glad to see some posts on here ;) .. I too love fruit with my cereal.. but Terry what is wrong with adding some real fruit,, slice up a banana or throw on some frozen(thawed) fruit on whatever you are eating...It seems we all have a cupboard full of cereal boxes. It comes in handy for a bedtime snack, at least it's something good for you.
Tomorrow we are having our grandbabies over for supper and the evening. My menu is hotdogs and french fries, which they love. Am going to throw in some cooked baby carrots and sliced cucumbers and some fruit. I get weighed and measured Wed. morning, so I am going to hopefully skip the fries.
Already took a walk on my treadmill this morning, planning on going to curves tomorrow, wed, and thurs. this week. Didn't have my car this morning and now I don't feel like going out into the cold. But will get my 3 days in and do the treadmill too. When I went down to the basement to walk, my dogs went ballistic up stairs.. they sat and howled so pathetically I had to come back up and take them down with me.. course as soon as I hopped back on the treadmill, they got bored and wanted back upstairs.. but I made them wait till I was done.. it was funny, how bored they looked watching me walk...
YEah!! the snowplow just went by...Maybe I'll head to curves yet today... I am so undecided :?: ... I'll keep you all in suspense till tomorrow, will I go or won't I...?
Keep up the good work everyone. Later

Yo, me again!
Cathy, I did the treadmill during Oprah today -- funny you should mention it :). Some of those people looked awesome especially the first woman with the southern accent. Something they said really rang a bell -- we are all committed to losing weight, but the difference is, are we committed to do what we have to do to lose the weight?? Hit home with me anyway.
Cat, by the way, before I forget, great job on all the exercise and I think you should reward yourself with a shopping trip -- just stay away from the chocolate :D .
So far today I actually did the treadmill and stayed with my eating plan -- one hour at a time here!
Dahlia, I love banana in my cereal but I also just like the taste and texture of the freeze-dried fruits. Sometimes I'll have cereal for supper, especially in the summer.
We have not heard from Carol and Emily in awhile -- most likely just busy.
OK, time to get some supper going -- my cue to say "later gators!"
Have a great evening and if I don't check back in tonight, see you in the AM :)

Hello,
I've been reading your posts and decided to try to see if you all are freindly to new comers or not :D (just kidding) I had to laugh at the cereal stories, not that that's a problem for me, can't have milk it makes me phlemmy so I just skip cereal. Actually I make a 3-grain hot cereal that's really good and high in fiber (the recipe was from "cooking light").
Here's a little bit about my story: I've pretty much struggled with my weight my whole life although looking back I think the problems were imaginary until my 3rd year of college. I worked at McD's and they gave us a free meal and since I was broke free food was great and I porked up to 180lbs :o. I pretty much stayed there for a while until I had a bout of depression and gained 50 lbs in 6 months . I held that weight (+/- 15 lbs) for the next few years until I started traveling a lot for work and not paying attention and gained to my highest weight of 249 about 3 years ago. I joined WW (again) and lost and gained the same 15 lbs about a zillion times, and now have decided to go it alone for awile and am looking for a support group to be accoutable to. On a personal note: I'm in my 30's have a degree in Mechanical Engineering although I'm not doing that but trying to get started in Real Estate. I've been married for 2 years but we were together for 13 before that so it feels like forever. We don't have kids and are leaning towards not having any. We do have 2 dogs and a cat as well as an empty fish tank (need to fix that), and they're like kids to us.
Anyway I'll probably fill in more as time goes on.
I can't remember who posted what or when (that's the problem with reading 5 pages of posts), so I'm going to start from now.
Hope everyone has a great evening, need to go help get dinner going (dh volunteered to cook tonight).

Just wanted to pop in and say Hi Tech and Welcome to our little group! Most of these gals have been here for years. I myself have been the yo-yo in the group...I'm here, I'm gone, I'm here, and gone. Well, I'm back again and trying to post daily. I did great when I had a group of friends I could be accountable to, so I'll stick to what works!
BTW - DH volunteers to cook but you have to get it started! Boy, he has you trained! LOL! Just kidding - but it sounds like my house and my DH!
Anyways, welcome to the group!

Morning Everyone and Welcome Tech!!
The coffee's brewing, and I am up and awake and alive -- not bad considering the alternatives :D . Welcome to our humble little group, Tech -- I can tell with your sense of humor, you'll fit right in!
Boy, can I relate to the weight gain due to depression (add in some anxiety and panic attacks at this end -- now you know where the term "comfort food" comes from. I still have about 50 lbs to lose (give or take) but it is coming off slowly. I also am a firm believer in "better living thru chemistry" so that has taken care of the depression and panic attacks quite nicely. Thank you xanax and zoloft!
A little about me -- Ive been on 3fc for over 3 yrs now, 51 yrs old, two kids (18 & 23), two dogs, three cats, 2 hamsters, one husband. No fish -- don't eat them, touch them, or swim with them if I can help it  . I work with my husband who owns his own business and have a marketing and public relations background. Love to read, play Scrabble, do crosswords and watch the news. OK, did I scare you away, yet???
Have you gotten your real estate license yet or are you still in that process? Exciting field especially if you are a go-getter -- good luck!
BTW, I love "Cooking Light" and get it monthly. I also love hot cereals so if you get a chance, can you post the recipe?? Thanks in advance.
Morning Lisa!
At least you keep coming back to the fold and that's all that matters :grouphug: -- we are a small group but a nice one if I must say so myself!
Well, I did put in a good OP day yesterday so I am happy with that. I am also sore from the treadmill and it was only a short workout without much jogging -- I am adding a few more minutes each day until I get back to my 2-3 miles per day routine. Those baby steps do add up.
Wake up everyone  .... time to get my first cup of coffee and read the paper. Contemplating going to NYC over the weekend so I want to go online later and see what is going on there. A friend of mine from California is going to be there so we are in the process of making plans to meet and sightsee.
I'll be back later .... :comp: .... Terry

Good morning Terry, Lisa,Cat and welcome Tech.. and hello everyone else.
It is a cold one again. I'm almost out the door to go to curves but wanted to say hi. Is good to have some posts to read. Let's keep it up.
I know everyone is just dying to know if I went anywhere yesterday.. and the answer is NO... I turned on the radio and there were so many cancellations I figured I'd stay home and keep safe and warm, but I did do a set of exercises and walked on the treadmill so I was ok. Did really well with my eating too.
Tonight having the grandbabies, that is exercise in itself..:)
Tech, I am 53, married with 5 sons, 2 of whom are married and have given me 3 grandbabies, and each one has another one on the way this summer. My boys are 30-28-26-24 and 21. Grandbabies are 3-3-1 (will be 2 in 2 wks).
Hubby and I own and operate a commercial greenhouse. I love to read, write and do mind games, play cards on computer or for real, travel and play with my grandbabies. I've been fighting the battle for too many years now and have decided to end the war once and for all. Hope I am the winner.
OK, well I better get going, I want to go shopping after curves, its' my little reward... I am doing some applique stockings for the new babies. I also love crafts and decorating and enjoy watching hgtv. Ok that is more than you wanted to know I am sure...
I think you will fit in here just fine.. we can always use another shoulder.

Welcome Tech...you picked a fun group to hang out with. I'm new to the fold myself having just joined the end of December. They're a fun and friendly group here. There's 3 of us from Michigan hanging out here now.
I'm 42, married with 2 sons (16 & 13). For many years I did the books for my husband's business...got tired of that so now I help update a website and edit books (Saltwater aquaria). Noticed you have an empty fish tank...give salt a chance! This coming from a proclaimed addict with 375g reef in my living room!
Glad you enjoyed my cereal escapade....just remember:

Good morning everyone! First a Vent! Okay, so who gave me that 1.5 lbs back? Where did they come from!? Man, thats frustrating! I've been working out for two straight weeks, no soda, drinking lots of water, watching what I'm eating, making smoothies of fruits/vegs, and what does it get me?
NADA! The scale this morning was back where I started! I'm hoping its either a) too much salt yesterday or b) my muscles are toning up (and muscle weighs more than fat).
Hi Again, Tech! I'm a 33yo SAHM of 2 (DS6 and DD14). Although I stay at home, I also own two businesses - professional pet sitting and Karaoke (soon to expand into DJing, I think). Our friends started a band three years ago and I've been doing all their photography for PR and their website, and now people are approaching me to do weddings and such! I also volunteer at our school and church, as well as serving on several boards for both. And I volunteer in 4H. We have 2 inside dogs, 1 inside cat, a bird, fish, guinea pig and a bird. Outside we have 11 cats, 6 rabbits, 4 horses, 6 guinea hens, 2 peacocks, a pheasant and a flock of chickens! In the summer, I love to garden and try to maintain a 20x100 foot plot! [Boy, do I wish I lived closer to Dahlia!] I also just re-started selling on Ebay. So all that tends to keep me busy. You would think I'd be skinny, but nope! I also have hypothyroidism, PCOS and insulin resistance, so there are three strikes against me - especially since I love carbs!
Well, I'm sure that's "weigh" more than you needed to know, huh?
Did my yoga for today and am working on my water. Hopefully this "no loss month" will improve! Have a great day everyone!

Lisa, I think you and I ought to go on an anti-scale campaign.:) I think it's a conspiracy to keep us frustrated.. but seriously I forgot muscle weighs more than fat, so maybe those couple pounds that keep playing with me are muscles.. I can always hope.. I'll find out if I lost any more inches tomorrow.. and it would be nice if we all lived closer together, think of the coffee clatches we could have...:)

Hi Tech..GO AWAY! Gotcha  i bet you were'nt expecting that were you? :s: thanks for the graphic info on the milk..i was just taking a bite of a ham sandwich when i read that :p  did'nt stop me from swallowing tho'.
I'm 49yrs old, married, have 2 kids, Jacqui and David and a 13mth old grand-daugher Olivia  (she's my Av) who i am going back to visit next month :cb: (they live in England)
Terry, I treadmilled too ;) I don't know about you but i thought that the first girl looked a bit skinny  (you can't win can you?) and as for the 3 that signed the contracts well, :chin: lets just say that we'll see.
Did an hour of Callenetics this morning and 2mls treadmill on the weightloss program :stress: I'm really committed to doing this again i think it must be the impending trip thats spurring me on :D
Lisa, don't worry about the weight gain..my scale is a $#&^*((():( at times. Its probably the salt like you said.
Dahlia, well done on getting some exercise at home :cp:

Hello All -
Thanks for all the warm welcomes (except Cat).
Just stopping in really quick between outings. We have to eat earlier than usual so I can go to a seminar tonight. Did pretty well sticking to my plan yesterday (eat every 2.5-3.5 hours, stay with in pts from WW, write everything down and cut back on the alcohol (mainly wine)). And today's been going pretty well too. I was hoping to do my belly-dancing exercise video (which I only do with no audience  ), but we had 9 houses on our tour this morning and not one was a ranch, so between getting in and out of the car and all those stairs I'm whipped.
Terry - I'll try to remember to get that recipie for you. I got my license in Oct of last year, and am starting to get my feet wet. I really hope this will work out, although my cell phone is already becoming an extention of my hand which I'm not to sure about, may have to work on setting limits....
Daliah - now I'll know who to ask about all my gardening questions. I've just sort of gotten started since I became a home owner in '99 and I've been using the hit or mis method to this point. Can't blame you about staying inside yesterday, it was pretty wicked out.
Lisa - actually he did all the prep and I tossed it in the pan, I think I had the easy part (we split the cooking pretty evenly between us). Hang in there if you're doing everything right it will eventually show on the scales...
Barb - your freinds comment made me laugh and DH wanted to know what I was laughing about.
Cat - sorry about the visual.... I'm impressed with all the exercise, that's by far my weak point (with the wine)
Well gotta go grab dinner...Have a great night everyone.

Only me again -- it's most definitely muscle weight, Lisa. In fact someone on another thread was telling me she read a book on throwing away the scale and only using an article of clothing to measure yourself with -- this is especially important when you are doing weights and gaining that initial weight. You don't get discouraaged and cut back which is the usual norm. No treadmill today -- no excuses -- went grocery shopping. A new store opened up and I went to check it out -- nothing to write home about. I have a new addiction -- feta cheese. Funny because I never liked it until recently. Didn't buy the store out so that was a good thing!
Tech -- watch out for that Cat, she's a wild one! OK ladies time to make dinner. Dahlia, Barb and everyone .... catch ya in the morning. Someone have the coffee going!!!!

Terry - Thanks for the words of encouragement. I will try to let my jeans and my DH be my guides! He always can tell - remember that hip comment? LOL! I do feel "stronger" lately but was thinking it was just a frame of mind. I've also been doing yoga and pilates and am shocked at how little flexibility I have! That will get better too.
Tech - Let us know how those bellydance exercises go. I'd try one know but my belly would spend too much time catching up to the rest of my body and throw me off balance! LOL! What a visual, huh?
Well, gotta get going again....been working on karaoke books all day. ICK!

Morning!
Quick fly by to say hello and wish everyone a good day :). I got up early as we need to move Chris out of the dorms this morning as he wants to commute. Of course the "we" is "me" and one of his friends. Where are husbands when ya really need 'em??!
Cathy, great to hear that you bought your ticket -- is John going with you again this time? I bet with each trip the flight gets more bearable. How exciting -- you'll be holding Olivia soon :).
Tech, I have a friend who used to do the belly dancing videos and she said they are quite the workout -- I'm impressed. My belly would be gyrating like Lisa's -- UFO actually.
I couldn't sleep last night and stayed up reading until 3am -- the alarm comes mighty early on days like that.
Need to get out of here in 45 minutes -- catch ya all on the rebound!
Up and attem, Dahlia, Barb and company!!

Hey all! I'm in a great mood today! I made $130 today for just opening up savings accounts for each member in our family! I needed that - especially since I just spent almost $500 on business expenses! I was tickled pink! If anyone wants details, let me know!
I am doing great today! The scale still isn't moving (stop looking every day, Lisa!) but I am feeling more toned. DH notices it in my hips.....whatever that means! HEE HEE! I have been eating great today and getting lots of work done.....I think the "rush" that exercise is supposed to give you is finally catching up to me! I'm not so lethargic and tired in the afternoons like I was. I have more pep. My eating has been good too.....and I'm working on 96 ounces of water right now.
Well, that's my check in for now! Hope everyone else is doing great too!

Hi Ladies,
T, Yep..John is coming along too but its only a short trip this time so i'm going to cram as much into it as possible :D the only thing that spoils it is that i know that my stepson will have a party while we are gone :rollpin: when we got back in September i found that the receiver would'nt work and i discovered why..someone must have opened a lively beer and it sprayed all over our hi-fi system and shorted out the receiver  when i confronted him about it he said "are you sure" (playing dumb) and his Dad never says a word to him  I just don't see why i should have to put up with it because he does'nt even live with us yet he can come up here and wreck our things without consequence. Anyway, i have'nt had it fixed so there won't be any music for them this time
Did my Callenetics vid yesterday and although i'm not sore i can tell i've been twisted like a pretzel  today i just stuck to my treadmill...eating is on plan although i've just had some pineapples and light ice cream :T sat indoors today..boredom will get me every time.

Hi all,
Sounds like you all are doing well and good in the motivation department. Right on! I'm having a pretty good week and am hoping the scale will reflect that on Friday. Tonight is our book study at church so it's a night off from working out but that's okay as I got pretty ambitious on the elliptical machine last night and my quads are still a bit sore....no pain no gain though right???? :)
Tech, welcome to the group. These ladies are fantastic and are always full of good advice. I'm starting belly dancing lessons on Monday so wish me luck!
Lisa, you are doing so well on the exercise and I agree that it's the muscle your building that's holding the scale where it is. Be sure to take your measurements!
Cathy, sounds like you've had some great days this week. If you are truly in cleaning and organizing mode, might I interest you in a trip to Edmonton at Chez Kadach et Moi so you can work some magic around here???? Pretty please????
Dahlia, how do you like Curves? I've been toying with the idea of joining but heard it is a really high sign up fee.
Terry, how are Katie's wedding plans coming along? Did I read right that Chris is moving back home and then driving back and forth to campus?
Barbara, Hi there :)
Well I've still got dinner to make and stuff to do before church tonight so I better get a move on. Just wanted to say hi and let you know I'm still hanging around.

Good Morning Everyone,
Just popping in to say "hi" while I try to wake up enough to do some exercise before heading into the office. Yesterday was a pretty bad day diet plan wise, I had a roaring headach all day (dang those alergies  ) and so ate comfort food and too much of it.... Hopefully today will be better. We signed up to do a 5 week wine tasting class thru the local shop and it starts tonight so I won't be perfect...but if I do well all day it won't be too bad.
I really enjoy the bellydancing video. I feel more limber after without the pretzel feel during that I got with yoga, but it's definately work I warm up and my arms in particular feel it. Great visuals about the bellies tho, luckily :?: I carry my weight all over so that is not an issue.
I agree with the not looking at the scale thing, last year I went to WW but didn't have them write down my weight on my card for 3 mos. It helped me to not watch the yo-yo just go with how I feel and how my cloths fit.
Well, I've gotta go or I won't make it into the office before my client. Have a great day everyone. Hopefully I'll be able to pop back tonight.
-Donna :headache:

Good morning all,
We are having a blizzard here since yesterday, blowing and snowing and drifting, schools are all closed, lots of cancellations.. so I am staying inside and staying warm and dry. it its 2 degrees here with a wind chill factor of something minus zero, I don't even want to know.
Sounds like everyone is doing well. I went to curves yesterday got weighed and measured. I didn't lose any pounds but I did lose inches. She forgot to print me out a copy and can't remember how many but was down on almost all points so that is good. She said once I drop a few pounds it will be really noticable.. so I am more determined now than ever. Pam, I love curves. You get to meet so many other people doing the same thing you are. I don't know if it's the same all over but here it is $75 to sign up and then it depends on how you pay. You can have the money taken from your checking account monthly for one rate, or you can just pay it for another rate, or you can pay for a year at a time or how ever long you want for another rate. I was lucky, the week I signed up was Breast awareness week, and by showing proof that I had had a mammogram done within the past year, they waived the entrance fee.. so all I did was pay in advance for a year's membership, which comes to $26 a month. You can go anytime from Mon.-Fri. 7am to 7 pm and Sat. 8-11 am. There are always drawings to win curves merchandise and our group has parties and special events every week. I enjoy going and it's easy and fun and it's working.
IT's funny, ever since I started curves I am losing inches but I have never been sore. Last Monday when I started doing extra exercises at home, on tuesday I was sore... maybe if you do the things right they can work without being sore.
Terry, let us know more details about Katie's wedding. It will be fun to go through them with you. I think there may be one in my family's not to distant future, My 21 yr. old son is getting tired of being away from his girlfriend all the time. She goes to school in CHicago and he goes to school here in Michigan, they are only 2 hrs away from each other, but with thier schedules they don't get to see each other to often. They have been going together for 6 yrs and the last 3 has been apart more than not.
Well, I guess I'll go take a walk on my treadmill and do my exercises. No time is better than the present.
Take care all,
Dahlia

Good Evening Dahlings,
I am winding down for the evening. I've had a good week food wise, only got two work outs in so far, but am feeling better. I only hope the scale moves tomorrow. I'm a sucker for validation :^:
We had our book study at church last night and I totally bypassed the cookies. That's the first time since Christmas that I have actually refused something. I am happy and my mind set is getting better. I keep telling myself that no food is worth getting fat over.
Dahlia, thanks for the info on Curves. I already know Erwin will try to talk me out of it but we'll see. Way to go on the lost inches...I am very proud of you! :cp:
Tech, how was the first night of the wine tasting club? Hope you had fun.
Terry, that was some snooze! Hope you are feeling okay. Ummm I was wondering if you'd mind sending me your email address again. I tried to send you one today and it bounced back.
Cathy, are you sure you don't want to come out to visit me? I know your vice is chocolate, can I bribe you by hiding some in my kitchen cupboards? Just kidding. I wouldn't want to come clean out my cupboards either. I don't know when I developed this pack rat tendency in my kitchen but it's gotta go. When am I ever going to bake a bundt cake? Heck, when am I ever going to bake??? Great job on the treadmill girlfriend! :high: You rock!
Busy weekend here. Tomorrow night is a scrap booking party at my friends, Saturday is a hair cut and chores, Sunday is church, more chores and then a new comers get together at the church and somewhere in there I darn well better two work outs in!
Hope you all had a good day and I'll try to check in tomorrow. Hi to Lisa, Carol, Barbara, Meg, Emily, Grandma G and anyone else I've missed.

Good morning ,
Well, it's still snowing but the wind has stopped so I am going to Curves in a little while here. I am going to go get my hair cut this morning, it's long at the moment and I'm tired of it. I had a spiral perm in Sept. but my hair just gets all frizzy and scraggly...so it's time for a new do.
Cathy I saw a cute t-shirt saying made me think of you... It says "Everytime I hear the word exercise I wash my mouth out with chocolate."
My trainer told me to eat Fiber One, she said it was like a diet plan of its own.. I can see why, the stuff tastes terrible, I eat a couple spoonfuls and I have had enough. Why does everything that is suppose to be so good for you taste like cardboard or worse?
Had a scare last night, my 21 yr. old son at college called complaining about having stomach pains on his right side for a couple days. I told him to go to the campus clinic and see a doc. So I talked on line with him and he was going to go at 3 in the afternoon. He said he'd call when he got back. Well, it was 10 pm and he still hadn't called. His girlfriend called several times asking if I'd heard from him yet, he normally calls her every evening at 9 pm sharp. She hadn't heard from him. We both kept calling his room but no one answered. So I called the school, he hadn't made his last class and no one knew where he was. He just told us about that murder last week, so naturally we were all concerned. Well he finally called at 10:30 he had been in the hospital the whole time, they ran a battery of tests on him.. and he said they had him on iv's and everything and he couldn't call. It was a relief to us, he is ok but what an evening I had. Kids, we never stop worrying.
OK, that's it.. got to go. Hi to Barbara, Emily, Grandma G? where are you?
Pam, Terry, Cathy, Lisa and everyone else. Hope you all have a great day, and will post to let us know.

Good evening ladies,
Well, it's been a nice day, the wind stopped and the road crews were out on many of the roads so dh decided we needed to get out for a while. So we went to the next town, visited his sister who has 4 new poodle puppies, so tiny, their eyes aren't even opened yet.. :bb: and then to the casino where we walked around and played for about an hour. Then we stopped for supper on way home at a quaint little resort half way home for a delicious meal. I had steamed shrimp and they were so good, and a bowl of potato soup which was also good and helped warm us up. :hun: :sunny: then when we came home we had a drink  I only had about 1 finger of Irish mist, which I love.. it's a sipping liquer.
I am almost done with one applique stocking I am making for my new grandbabies.. it is turning out so cute.
I hope everyone is having a good weekend. I decided not to exercise on the weekends, 5 days will be it for now.
I got my hair cut yesterday, I am really happy with the way it looks, I feel so much lighter and it will be easier to take care of now. I got so tired of wearing it back in a scrungy, and that is the only wasy it looked half way good. :yikes:
Barbara hope you are doing ok.. haven't heard from you in a couple days.
WEll, catch ya all in the morning.

Hi Dahlia,
I'm glad that you like your haircut..that is a phobia of mine going to the hairdressers and getting scalped  they always seem to go to town on my hair and cut far too much off..one of the reasons i quit going
I've not done much myself today  i've got to treadmill and then i really should mop the floors but i'll see how that goes

Hi Cathy,
Looks like it's just you and me today..I went to church this morning then over to my son's house to have lunch with him and the grandbabies. Then when I came home my oldest son and his girlfriend were over. They just left a little bit ago. I have supper in the oven and I'm working on my stocking while I wait. The sun was out today, and even though it's only 18 degrees it was nice out. Real exhilerating.
I am doing real bad with food today, but tomorrow I will be right back on track again. We are suppose to get more snow, but I hope it holds off so I can get to curves. One day shouldn't be to bad, I'm hoping.
Well, hope everyone else is having a good day. Will check in later.

Good evening everyone! Its been a busy weekend which is why I wasn't here. I didn't have time to squeeze in a workout and an extra shower yesterday and today is my day off, so I've had no exercise all weekend! I know I could have made up that missed workout but I've been really tired. I may try to squeeze that focus abs & glutes exercise in this week sometime...maybe on the yoga day or pilates day!
Been busy with a petsitting client all weekend. Yesterday I had to cook for a couple hours for my DH's work Christmas party last night. I didn't overeat at all...did have a couple sodas though - my first caffinated stuff since Jan 4th! Actually, it didn't even taste good!
The scale is STILL not moving, but my body fat has gone down one more point - so I guess I'll take those two points loss happily! Its better than nothing! I keep telling myself that once the muscle is built up the weight will start dropping (I hope).
I had a big ego boost last night. I had left the party to go take care of some pets. While I was gone, DH and some friends of ours were discussing chest implants, lasik surgery, etc. DH mentioned that I would love to go on Extreme Makeover and have a bunch of stuff done. One guy I had only just met was astounded and told my DH that I was beautiful - why would I want to do that!??? WOW - when DH retold me this story, I think I blushed! But it felt goooood!
Well, I will check back in in the AM when I get myself back on schedule! Take care everyone! Just think - January is almost over! We've made it one month!

Happy Monday Everyone,
Sorry I haven't been back in a few days. We had guests over on Saturday for dinner and being the great procrastinator I am I left everything for the last minute and if I sat down at the computer nothing would have gotten done
The wine tasting Thurs was fun. They did a really cool exercise where we sniffed 21 things we couldn't see to see if we could identify them (they were smells usually associated with wine). Some were really easy like vinegar and anise, some were really hard like dried cherries and honey. I didn't do too bad got more than half right.
Dahlia - glad you like your haircut, I'm going in on friday trying to decide if I want to get it all chopped off or just a trim. You must live on the west side of the state to be getting so much snow, we haven't had any (well just dustings) in a while just cold. Tonight might be messy tho.
Lisa - Yea on the comment, gotta love when stuff like that happens.
Cathy - Hairnets??? I must have missed something.
Pam - Congrats on passing on the cookies wish I could say the same.
Well, I've gotta go. I've got a online training class that starts in 15 mins and I need to go log on.
Have a great day everyone!!!!

Hello ladies,
I was half done with a post and I accidently hit the wrong X and poof... so I'll try this again.
We are getting more snow again... I think this year we are getting more snow than we have had in the past 7 years. Yes, tech, I live right on the shore line of Lake Michigan.. and we get a lot of lake effect. But what of the state are you in? Barbara is also from Michigan.. she is over on the east side. Speaking of Barbara has anyone seen her lately? We had been e-mailing daily but suddenly she has disappeared.. I hope all is well with her and her family.
Lisa, :high: way to go girl.. what a thrill for you, that was a terrific compliment, it must have made your husband proud too.
I went to curves this morning. IT's getting to be a habit, which is good.
LIsa, I know what you mean about the scale being stubborn,, mine still appears to be stuck even though I have lost 12 1/4 inches in the past 3 months. When I mentioned that maybe it was muscles the lady laughed, that is the one bad thing about curves, the ladies who run it don't really know much about nutrition and stuff like that. They just hire people off the street who have no training etc...
Well, guess I'll go finish up my laundry. Hello to Terry, Emily, Pam, Barb, Grandma G. Cathy, and anyone else I missed.
Have a great day all,
Dahlia

Tech, i had a temp job just before christmas at a choc factory and we all wore hairnets
Dahlia, i hate when things go 'poof' i used to really hate it if i used too many smilies and was told to go back and do it again and when i did the whole lot was gone :rollpin: don't know if it still does that or not :?:

Good morning ladies,
Not much to say here today, getting more snow. Feeling kind of depressed today. I think it's the cold and snow.... guess I'll go get dressed and take a walk on my treadmill, and then find something constructive to do...
Still haven't heard from Barbara.... wonder what is going on with her.
Cathy, are you working anywhere now? To bad you are far away, we always need part time seasonal help..
Well, better go.. can't think of anything to say this morning, will check in later.

Hello everyone! I'm with Dahlia...not much to report on except for cold and snow!
I got back on track today, starting with exercise and water. I had not worked out in THREE days, so I just knew if I was going to start back up, I had to start NOW!
Tech - I'm interested in your online course too! I've always wanted to look into doing something like that, but figured with everything I got going on, I probably wouldn't be able to keep up.
Dahlia - I wish I lived closer! That would be so much fun working in a greenhouse! I bet you get a lot of seasonal help though.
Well, I'm gonna get going. Having some femine problems again and not sure what's going on, so I'm gonna go take a rest or something non-strenuous! Take care!

Hello Everyone,
The weather just s*cks around here today. We had snow yesterday, followed by freezing rain overnight, which changed over to the wet nasty crunchy snow this morning!!! I'm trying to remember again why it is that I like winter. At least the temp's better :)
OK enough venting.
Dahlia - I'm in Dearborn (and no I've never worked for Ford). I really like it here although I miss living on a lake which is where I grew up.
Cathy and Lisa - the class is thru Century 21, it's a training class for new agents. It meets 4 days/week 2hrs/day for 3 weeks and then has self paced lessons for the next 3 weeks. It uses a system like "microsoft meetings" that you may have used or seen ads for on TV. Today was the first live class (yesterday was setup/computer check), and it seems like it'll be ok. The only problem is that during a real class when I get bored I have to keep listening because there's nothing else to do, while here I'm wandering away surfing the net, playing solitare....Maybe I'm ADD and didn't know it  (just kidding).
I have a question for everyone, does anyone else have a problem with being hungry, and I mean stomach growling hungry not the just the munchies the third week of your cycle? It feels like I'm constantly hungry no matter what I eat. I've been this way as long as I can remember but it seems to be getting worse the older I get....
Anyway...as a result the last few days haven't been going to well on the diet front. I need a great big kick in the behind to get moving. Maybe I'll go upstairs and change into some exercise clothes and get moving that should warm me up...
Have a great evening everyone.

Hi tech,
Which lake did you grow up on..? We didn't get the freezing rain, knock on wood, just the snow but it is blowing and visibility at times is zero.. I doubt there will be school tomorrow and the wind is drifting the country roads shut again...
And in answer to your question, YES.. the week before my period I was always hungry and nothing seemed to fill me up... but I don't have those problems anymore,
had a hysterectomy back in Sept. of 99. Now I am pretty even all the time.. and I don't miss them a bit. LOL
Going to spend the evening watching Law and Order and Law and Order special victums unit with hubby, it's a new kick we are on.. :) we hardly ever watched tv when we had kids home, so now that they are all gone, and it's just him and me, we can sit down and relax in the evenings and all the shows are new for us...:)
Well, Tech stay warm, and everyone take care,

Hi Ladies
Gosh, i'm just watching the news and it seems like the whole of the country is freezing while we have it very mild  the only thing i have to complain about is the rain  i hate the snow so i'm glad about that.
Tech, i misunderstood the 'training' class  i thought it was an exercise class not work related  about the growling tummy, do you eat meals at regular times? or do you wait until you are hungry or your tummy growls? mine rarely growls ( probably because i don't know what real hunger is  ) but the last couple of days i've noticed that its about to start and i eat before that happens because if i wait too long i know that i'll binge
Dahlia, No..i'm not working now..thanks for the job offer btw  i'm going home next month so no point in looking for something until i return. Wish my hubby would sit down and watch something with me  he sits at the table watching the news while i try and sit on the couch and watch a series or a movie and i hate it..its so distracting when there is another tv on..blaring away right behind your head  i usually give up and curl up in bed when i want to watch something.
Lisa, good job getting back on track after a break :cp: that is hard to do sometimes.
I've had a very good day..did lots of organising and cleaning..i don't mean the usual vacuum and a duster stuff i mean pulling the fridge out kinda stuff :D the house looks great and this afternoon i walked on my treadmill for 4.25mls :) Eating has been good although i've had a couple of beers tonight :o but hey..i deserve them.
Hi T  are you still watching us :mag: hope you get back soon.

Hi all,
I'm still here but I'm frozen half to death. Yesterday it was wind chills of -47C and today the "high" was -31C. Brr..chilly.
Guess what ladies? I had my first belly dancing class last night. It was fun and an absolute riot as we all tried not to be self conscious. Tech, what video do you use for belly dancing?
Cathy, you are my exercise idol these days. 4.25 miles!!! Wowza.
Dahlia, I wish I lived closer to you too so you could teach me how to have a green thumb and not a black one LOL.
Lisa, good job getting back into the groove of things. I know how easy it is to fall back into the habit of not working out.
Tech, the 3rd week of my cycle is a killer for me too. I just really, really try to keep myself busy and occupied so that I'm not munching away all the time. The joys of being a woman eh?
Terry, miss you! I'll email you soon.
Well I'm off to bed. Had a raging head ache all day but now it's gone so hopefully will get a good night's rest and start the day off all refreshed. Have a good one everybody and I'll pop back in tomorrow.

Good morning everyone! How are we all doing? I'm betting most of us are trying to stay warm!
Pam - Great job on the belly dancing! That is so cool! You and Tech will be able to put on a show in no time! (kidding!)
Dahlia - I too, wish we lived closer! I love to garden and plant things! My veg garden is 20x100 and my herb garden is about 8x10 next to the house. But now we may be moving so I'll have to start all over. But that's okay, there's nothing like a little (okay, a lot) of manure (remember those rabbits, chickens & horses?) to start a new garden and improve the soil! Hee hee!
Tech - I don't know where I heard it or read it, but someone said to think of your stomach grumbling as its way of burning up the fat....each time it grumbles, I am picturing a green smiley dude eating up the fat! LOL! Whatever works, huh?
For those of us who have scales that measure body fat, I found an interesting site that explains things a bit better (at least for me): http://www.healthchecksystems.com/bodyfat.htm By going through those figures, I have learned that I've lost 5 lbs of body fat! That made me feel better. It also helped me come up with my ideal weight, so to get there, I have 34 lbs to lose. Great insight.
Well, I have to get going.....Hope everyone has a great day, stays warm and loves themselves!

Good evening Lisa
and everyone else... yes trying to stay warm here. It's 9 F. here. It's still snowing and blowing, schools were closed again. The snow plow finally did come down our road this afternoon, now we can get our mail again.
I went to Curves this morning, hubby had to go to town so I caught a ride with him... our road was a one way opening so we snuck out. I am tired of winter. I am just plain tired. Had to get up 3 times last night with sick dogs. I have two of them and one got sick at 11 pm, the other at 1:30 and at 3 one wanted to go out and after it had been sick I figured I'd better let it go out again. Anyway such breaks in my sleep time leave me feeling ragged.
Also my asthma was acting up badly this morning, and after exercising it took a while and several puffs of my inhaler to get breathing right again. That makes me tired too.
Well, I won't bore you, but not much going on around here. Oldest son went to pick up youngest son from college this afternoon, they should be back in about another hour or so. Monday dh and I have to take him back.. hope the weather improves, but it don't look like it's going to anytime soon.
Where is everyone? Terry, Pam, Emily, Cathy, Grandma G., Barbara Ann, Tech... come join me and Lisa,, we are lonely here all by ourselves.
Take care, will check in again in the morning.

Hey all,
I am tired of winter. Well not winter as much as this -35C crap with wind chills. Yuck. Oh well that's what we get in Canada eh :)
Cathy I watched Oprah's birthday party too and enjoyed it. I love Tina Turner. I would love to look as good as she does. She works hard and it shows. I have to give great big kudos to Oprah too. I thought she looked very svelte and fit. You can tell she's turned her weight around again. She looks damn good for 50.
Dahlia, I hope tonight is better for you. Our oldest dog has been whining alot at night this past little while so my DH hasn't been sleeping too well either. I sleep with ear plugs to ignore his snoring so luckily I sleep right through the dog's whining.
Lisa, hi to you.
I'm joining WW meetings again on Saturday. I have been doing so well with the exercise but I just can't seem to get my head back in the game. My friend is also going to come with me so at least I'll have a meeting buddy to be accountable to. I really don't feel like seeing that beginning number again but thems are the breaks when you bring it on yourself.
Hope you all are looking forward to the weekend. Here's to it warming up and spreading some sunshine.
See you all tomorrow.

Good evening everyone! Its still cold, cold, cold here! -35 in Canada! We are right about there too, here in Wisconsin! Some local schools were even delayed here this morning, but not ours.
I've had a really busy day, and I missed Oprah's Birthday! bummer! I didn't even know about it until I read your posts. Guess I'm out of the loop today.
Dahlia - Between the weather, the asthma and the dogs, I believe you are tired! Wow, girl! I hope you can get some good ZZZs tonight. And I hope the dogs are feeling better.
Well, I better get back to updating the karaoke books. Hoping to work on taxes tomorrow and get them filed! Can't wait for the checks to come in....even though the money's all been spent! OH, speaking of $$, I looked at a treadmill today at Sears. Get this - the thing cost $2500!!!!!!!! WOWSERS! For that amount of money, it better generate enough power to heat my house!

wow -37 even in C that is cold. It's still snowing and blowing here. I think the weather men are stuck in the same track everyday cause the report doesn't change.
I'm going into Curves later this morning, catching a ride with dh cause the roads are really bad. :strong: so we try to consolidate all our errands into one.
Glad to see more postings this morning. It's nice to know everyone is still alive and kicking :cb:
Nothing much to say so I'll just end this and do some work in the office this morning. I finished one of my applique Christmas stockings the other day and already started the second one. They are for my two new grandbabies.
Have a good day all, and stay warm.

Was late doing my work out this moring cuz I had to go take care of 8 dogs, 6 cats and three birds (petsitting). My DS6 is at his friends house right now, DH has the day off and I have taxes and ebay stuff to do (again!).

Hi Everyone,
Sorry I haven't been around in a couple of days. Our 'puter is in the basement and it's gets really cold typing on it so after being down here for the class and homework I just want to go back up stairs and thaw out. We bought a space heater to warm this corner of the room (the rest really isn't bad) so hopefully that helps.
I see our weather is supposed to get warmer Mon of course it's also supposed to snow, I'm not sure which is worse frigid or snow. At least with frigid I don't have to shovel .
Haven't been tracking my food at all this week, just keep eating. Hopefully I haven't done too much damage. I did buy a balance ball and tape and try it out on Wed morning. I don't remember who said they didn't feel anything but let me tell you my abs were sooooooo sore yesterday (of course some of that might have been PMS). My sis can't mall walk tomorrow (we usually go on Sat morning) so maybe I'll break out the long underwear and take the beast for a walk, he'd love it. Maybe I'll even try it today the sun is beautiful.
Vent Time - feel free to ignore
Yesterday DH and I went to the store and on the way I thought he was going to get us killed, cutting off this other driver (who did try to cut him off first). They just kept going back and forth, and when I complained DH said "well he started it" I felt like I was talking to a 6 year old, only a car is way more dangerous than your hand or something. Anyway, I just needed to ***** to someone, so you guys win the prize :D.
End Vent
Well, since it seems I've written a novel, I'll go away now. Hope everyone gets a good night's sleep, stays warm, exercises lots (I guess that'll get you warm) and has a great day, whatever you're doing.

Hi again,
Just a quick note,, I went to curves and boy the roads around here are really in bad shape, The plow came down our road yesterday but he didn't do a very good job, he just sort of widen the 2 track we had going, it's ridiculous. I would love to able to tell these guys to do a better job or find a new one.
I had another bad night with the dogs, they weren't sick but the male kept pacing the floor last night, we have a wood floor and he has very long nails.. so it was click click click half the night, both my hubby and I wanted to shoot him by morning..I even took him downstairs around 3 let him outside and was going to make him stay down, but those sad eyes,, I couldn't do it.. but he did go to sleep finally after that little outing.. or maybe it was the threats I gave him all the way back up stairs..LOL
I have been doing really good with my exercising and food choices this week, I did have a couple snacks that I shouldn't have had, like some cheese popcorn.. but I was still down this morning, so that made me feel good. My boys have told me how proud they are of me for going to curves and that makes me feel good to.. Now if I just could get some sleep at night...
Having hubby's b/day tomorrow, his day is Sunday, but with the superbowl.. and all.
Having the kids and their families over for supper and cake and ice cream. On Sunday I am taking dh out to lunch where ever he wants to go. I am baking him a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and since I can't eat chocolate I'll just have ice cream.
Ok, enough for a short note :) will check back later,

Hmm, pretty quiet around here this weekend. Hope that means everyone is out having fun (or at least staying warm  ). It's been really nice and sunny here for the last few days, unfortunately it's also been frigid temps, oh well guess you can't have everything.
I didn't get in any exercise on Fri (big surprise), but yesterday we did take the dog's for a walk if only a short one before our noses froze. I can't believe how many people in our neighborhood haven't shoveled this year. The city must be slacking on handing out citations...Not that I want more city interference... hmmm what a quandry.
We went to our church for a "chili cook off" last night. There were 10 guys who each made a pot of chili (it was a men only challenge), and I was amazed at how different each one tasted. DH's won the "most likely to cause heartburn" award. Which really supprised me since this is one of my favorite recipes and I don't do spicy. DH ends up adding more chili powder at the table.
Tonight were just hanging out at home and making a fire, baking meatloaf and potatos and vegging while watching the game (or at least some of it). It should be a nice relaxing evening.
Dahlia - Weird about your dogs hope everything is OK. Last night DH tossed our cat down the stairs because he was sitting under the dresser crying for no reason. You are so dedicated with the exercise and Curves. I am impressed. If you don't mind I may pm you with a couple of flower questions.
Cathy - Right about now I wish I didn't live where it was so cold, of course come Aug, I'm wishing for cooler temps, just never happy I guess. Hope London warms up before you head out.
Lisa - Did you make a decision about the horse, do you live on a farm or something?
Pam - How did the joining WW go?
Well since I've written a novel (again :D) I'm going to sign off now.
Have a great one everybody!!!

It has been nice and sunny last 3 days. today is DH b/day I took him out to dinner, ( he drove and picked the spot and he even paid) now that is the kind of date I like :)
but we had a fantastic dinner and a nice drive. He is now watching the super bowl and I am playing on here. Had the kids over last night for supper and cake for him.
Thank you Tech,, I am trying to really stick with Curves and go there 3 times a week. I really want this to work this time. Just hope I can keep it up when I get back to working full time in two weeks.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend girls and take care, I'll check in again in the morning.

Hi again
I need someone to do me a favor. Will one of you try to e-mail me something. Go to the profile or whatever and try it... I tried to do it to check it out and it tells me that I do not wish to receive e-mails from anyone, but that is not true, I have it all checked in the right places that I will accept e-mails. It may just be that I cannot e-mail myself.. but I would like to know.
Ok, thanks..

Morning :) ...
Sorry I have not been around but my computer's internet connection has been just awful -- intermittant and no Outlook Express. Comcast is sending another tech tonight, and hopefully, they can figure this out as it is most frustrating. I am knocking on wood here :crossed: as it seems to be running fine this morning. I have started to post so many times only to be kicked off -- :yikes: .
Hope all is well, and that everyone's weight loss efforts are progressing. I actually have been on the treadmill -- and have seriously restarted South Beach (rejoined their site so when I pay money you know I am serious! ) -- thus the battle continues.
Dahlia, I had to laugh at the dogs and their "click-click" because Mac (American Eskimo) does that in the bedroom --- he paces back and forth at night and it drives me absolutely batty. You know who "rules the roost" when I end up in the spare bedroom to sleep! :dizzy:
We went over a friend's house yesterday to watch the SuperBowl (yes, Pats!!) and it was just an awesome game -- unfortunately she had a feast set out but I did OK considering. No alcohol and just sampled a little bit of everything. They have a 52" plasma TV -- great way to watch the game!
Let me post before I lose this connection and hopefully I'll be back later. I wish everyone a Super Monday!

Good Morning (oops I guess its afternoon) everyone,
Popped in really quick to check a couple of things before I head out to my folks house. They live about an hour away. It wouldn't be a big deal except that last summer my sister, her DH and baby moved in with them and I gave him my key, so now I have to stop at my sis's work and pick up a key and go over because I'm the only one on their bank SDB and they need something out of it faxed to them (they're out of town until April). I'm also the only one who doesn't live in the same town as them....It's just a pain. Anyway sorry to go on and on...Those of you with adult kids if you set up something like this pick the one living closest.
Gained a pound last week (WI is today) Really not too upset since I'm due for TOM and feeling really bloated. If I can just behave this week it should go back away next.
Watched the super bowl it was a pretty good game. Since I didn't care which team one I'm glad it was close. My favorite commercial was the Bud Light one with the dogs (if you saw it you know what I mean). Somehow I missed the whole Janet thing with her chest, but they sure did harp on it on the View today, so if it was on purpose she got what she wanted, Publicity.
Daliah - I tried to e-mail you thru your profile and got the same response maybe you need to ask one of the CHICKS what's up.
Terry - glad to see you back. Hope your computer problems are a thing of the past.
Have a great day everyone.

TEch, thanks for trying,, I emailed the CHicks but got a notification that the email to them is delayed, whatever that means... but you can just use my address and email me from your usual email..that will work...
I went to curves this morning and the scale is moving down slowly.. but it's moving. Even with yesterdays feast for DH's b/day, guess I worked it out ok... oh well, the sun is out today and it's nice, a heat wave even, 27 degrees :)..but as usual that darn old ground hog saw his shadow... with all those cameras and lights on him,, of course he will see his shadow... don't know why he don't just stay in his burrow... oh well... it's already Feb. spring is not far away.
I have some office work to do so guess I'll do it..LOL will check in later.

Afternoon!
I'm happy -- my computer is better than ever! The problem was the modem (which is what I had told them when I initially called -- I am so smart! :smug: ) -- it's 100% faster and online 100% too :). Keeping my fingers crossed though!
My Outlook Express is still off but I guess that's a Microsoft problem nationwide. Cathy, I hope you don't have any of those email viruses as they are nasty.
Ooops, have to run -- Russ just came home -- bbl!!

Good morning everyone! Sorry that I've been MIA. Sunday was incredibly busy with church and Superbowl. We had a meeting after church to call a new pastor, so we didn't get home until after 1:00! Then it was off to a Superbowl party. I spent yesterday recovering! LOL!
Terry - glad to hear your computer is better. I haven't heard anything about Ms Outlook Express? I use it but haven't been having any problems. Crossing fingers that I don't!
Cathy - I've had that email problem before too....many times is a server problem, not a virus.
I installed a new virus software and have one trojan it won't get rid of. Very frustrating. And I put a spyware program on the computer and now everytime I check my Hotmail, I get about a dozen warnings! ARGH!
Well, yesterday was a lazy day - no exercise, not enough water, and very little housework, so I need to get off my butt today! DH came home early from work last night, so looks like I'll have to put on my nurse hat today too!
Hope everyone has a great day!

Afternoon!
Waiting for the freezing rain and snow to start ... waiting for Chris to come home from classes so I can get to the grocery store as I need SBD food before it all begins. Also need to take a shower before anything else!
Did well with food choices yesterday but no exercise. So far so good today.
Lisa, I got Outlook Express working fine but now my Norton AV 2004 won't update -- :rollpin:. Never a dull moment!!!! I also have three "at risk" files I can't delete (was 5 so it's getting better!) so I know how frustrating it is -- you just want a clean slate.
Congrats on your lazy day -- love those guys!! Good for the mind and the body .... :) .
Have a good day ladies and "think summer clothes!!"

Hi ladies,
Sorry you are all having problems with your computers. My only problem is to many pop up ads, but today hasn't been to bad. I downloaded a program called adaware and it cleans up your computer. It found over 500 things on my computer that didn't belong, it cleans out cookies that attach themselves to sites etc. it eliminated a lot of crap I didn't need and that shouldn't have been there in the first place. I heard that spyware usually contains unnecessary cookies that attach themselves... and cause troubles... so always beware of what you are downloading. It's a pretty risky thing these days, I just don't trust anything unless I buy it myself and install it.
Been doing good, but woke up at 3:30 this morning with a terrific pain in the back of my head. I could not lie down, had a hard time even holding my head up. Not sure if it's in the neck or my head. The dogs had a good quiet night so it was my turn. Anyway I'm taking 600 mg. of ibufrofen to see if it will help. I'll give it a few days and if it don't clear up, I guess I'll have it checked out.. I had it before but never this bad and it went away on its own.. so we'll see. I can't seem to win around here.
It's snowing again, and blowing off and on. That nasty little groundhog anyway.
Well, have some paper work I must get done then think I'll try to get in a nap, it's hard to sleep sitting up, I keep snoring and waking myself up...

Poor, Dahlia, hope you feel better by day's end :balloons: ....
I use Adaware and Spybot too -- amazing what comes down when you surf the internet! I also use WinCleaner, Norton 2004 Professional AV Edition, Norton Utilities and Firewall, plus defrag and declutter my hard drives and registry every week --- and ya still get crap!! :yikes: As Chris always says ... "it's a conspiracy!"
Still have not gotten to the shower nor the store, but I did vacumm, clean the kitchen and both bathrooms, and did general pickup. Of course the computer called me to it in between too :comp: . But I have not eaten anything bad so that's an accomplishment too :).
OK, now to the shower --- charge!!

Good morning beautifuls! Hope everyone is staying warm! Its nasty cold here again today. I can't wait until spring is here!
Got my exercise and water in yesterday, but my eating left little to be desired. Will have to pay closer attention to it today, as my friend and I are doing lunch today at a Chinese buffet. But I'll get extra exercise when I go take care of my client's two dogs. I have to play with them outside for about 15-20 minutes, so there's a little workout.
Tech - No we haven't made any decision about Comet, the horse yet. I really am waiting until it gets warmer. Poor guy has been stalled and I want to see him after he gets to run in the pasture for awhile (want to see how easily he can be caught) and I'd like to see someone ride him first. Its just too cold for all this right now.
We live in an old farmhouse with ten acres and barns/outbuildings. Have lots and lots of critters (horses, dogs, cats, chickens, rabbits, peacocks, pheasants, guinea hens, and more in the house!). Its not a life I ever imagine I'd have, but I absolutely love it!
Dahlia - I hope today brings you a better and less painful day.
I have Spybot & Pest Patrol. Ever since I installed Spybot S&D, I get warning pop-ups with both Yahoo and Hotmail email accounts. And I have a virus that I have to research cuz my virus software detects it but doesn't get rid of it.
Well, one kid is off to school....time to workout before getting the second one off! Take care everyone!

Good morning ladies,
Thank you all for the well wishes.. I slept better last night and the pills are working, the pain is much better, but I am not going to curves this morning, all the machines would agitate my neck and I don't want anymore pain... so hopfully by Friday all will be back to normal.. I am going into town however so I will do some extra walking. And am watching my two grandbabies this afternoon so that will be exercise in itself.
They think they caught the guy who killed the 21 yr. old college student at son's school, so I feel better about that, but now he tells me they found a 16yr old in the town in his bed with a gunshot to his stomach. He later died in the hospital. And a 24 yr. old guy was driving a truck with a snowplow on it and he hit a 17 yr.old girl on a snowmobile with his plow, dragged her a couple miles and then buried her and the machine in a ditch. He was driving on a suspended license and he was drunk... that boy is just full of good news. :?:
The sun is shining today but it's only 10 degrees. It will be a brisk walking I will be doing.. Lisa, your life sounds very full. We too bought an old house on many acres out in the country, and have had our share of animals when the kids were home. We had a goose, ducks, dogs, cats, a mouse (actual pet),
cameleons, fish, rabbits birds and pigs. So I hear you.... not what I had envisioned when I was young.. but I wouldn't have traded it for anything. Now its just hubby and me and our 2 dogs.. :)
Well, better go get dressed and head out, hope everyone has a good day and stays warm.. oh yea. I was down again this morning... so I know somethings working..
take care

Just a quick check in! (To be honest, I even cut and pasted part of this post from another of my posts from a different board!) Gotta be quick - sooo much to do today!
Dahlia - You and I sure sound like two peas in a pod with all the critters, country life, joy of planting things (I assume this, of course, with the greenhouse)! I'm glad you are feeling better.
Well, this lower carb/portion control thing just doesn't seem to be working for me. I'm beginning to wonder if I should start back on a low-fat/low-cal menu again. I did this several years ago and it really worked. I STILL haven't lost anything but inches, so now I am getting really irritated!
We are expecting a snow storm again starting later this afternoon or tonight. DH still hasn't plowed us out from the last one (thankfully we have 4WD). The tractor is at my parents - which is why its not done yet, but he's going to get to it today. I always look forward to when he plows and leaves big mountains of snow. DS6 is so much fun to watch when he plays on them.
Well, I better get going! Lots to do today! Hope everyone has a wonderful, successful, happy and warm day today!

Morning! Waiting for the coffee to cook and getting caught up on boards and email. Love my mornings to myself when I don't have to go off to work. Put in a good day yesterday but still no formal exercise -- does lots of stair climbing to the computer count? :^:
Dahlia, glad you are feeling better too :) and I hope you had a good time snuggling and playing with the grand kids. Geez, I agree, your son is full of all the news we moms just love to hear. Pretty gruesome stuff there.
Yep, I would definitely say you and Lisa have a lot in common with all those critters!
Lisa, so many variables can effect weight loss so it's hard to say whether it's the diet type or not. You are losing inches so it's working, but I do know how frustrating that is when the scale doesn't move to reinforce all that hard work as well. Experiment a bit and see what happens. Just don't give up!
Morning Cathy -- you nust be thinking summer with 80 deg temps and beer! :sunny: I can even feel your excitement about going to England from here. When do you leave again??
Tech and everyone else --- up and attem!
Coffee's ready and the morning paper and crossword awaits -- still on "me" time here :D .
Have a great one, ladies!

Just a quick check-in. I stayed very busy all day today and that really helped with the snacking that I've been having issues with. I bought a bunch of SmartOnes so I'm now prepared to experiment with low fat eating, rather than lower carb/smaller portions.
Well, the snow is starting. They are predicting 6-10 inches by tomorrow. DH did get plowed today, and as I suspected, DS6 hit the "mountains" as soon as he came home. He loved it!
Cathy - 2 weeks and counting! We'll miss ya, but we're counting with you! How exciting!
Take care all!

Good evening ladies,
Lisa, it's still clear here, but we are expecting 6-8" by tomorrow.. sounds like a man's prediction LOL sorry :) couldn't resist.
I did ok today, cept I found some muffins at a restaraunt we had lunch at today. They were the kind we used to get when the kids were little that we just loved. We hadn't been able to get them for years, so I just had to buy them. And of course I had to have one this evening. It was soooo delicious, but now I am really full. But I did good all day so hopefully it won't hurt anything.
Nothing to report thought thought I'd check in and say hi. Cathy I know how excited you are about seeing Olivia. It's really hard when they live so far away. I have a grandson in CA who's 3 and we get to see him about twice a year so far. We will see him again this next summer when we go out to see his new brother or sister.... I'm excited about that. And I just love having two grandbabies so close that I can see them whenever I want. And the new granddaughter is only a couple months from joining us... :)
Lisa I can just see your son on the *mountains*... mine used to build tunnels around the yard joining all the mountains together,, they would disappear for hours :)they loved it outside.
Terry, is your business slowing down now? Mine is just about to start. I go back full time on the 16th of this month. I'll just be putting in 8 hr days to start, till May then it will be 10 hrs at the center and a couple more at home doing the paper work, 7 days a week. The time really flies when I am working that much. But then its summer and come August I can relax again.
Well, have a good night everyone and I'll check in in the morning. If we don't get any freezing rain I'll be heading off to Curves and to get some groceries. So hope it holds off or we just get snow.

Good morning! Well, we are in the middle of our biggest snowstorm of the season and from the looks of it, most of the state is shut down. I stayed up last night til 1:30 a.m. waiting for DH to come home because of the snow/blowing/drifting, and none of the roads were plowed. So I'm going to take advatage of the snow day and go back to bed like my oldest did. Of couse, my youngest is in front of the TV already!

Morning!
It's snowing here to Lisa and then we are suppossed to get hit with ice -- this is why we stay in the places we live in, right?! And, a snowstorm is a good excuse to laze around .... until you have to go out and shovel/snowblow.
Dahlia, your life sounds so much like mine -- feast or famine as far as personal work schedules are concerned. Right now I am in my "down time" hence all the days home but, like you, I will be busy next month when the storage season kicks in. I am not complaining as it has given me great opportunities over the years to be at home with the kids or at their after school activities. I also worked full time right after college so I know both worlds -- pros and cons of each.
Nothing much is really new -- actually stayed away from the junk food last night while I watched a basketball game on TV. I put a pic of myself taken right after I had lost 50 lbs with WW many moons ago by my computer so I won't forget what feeling thin felt and looked like. Remembered that as I thought of rading the snack cabinet.
OK, ladies, time to do a few crosswords and watch the snow. Has anyone heard from Carol or Meg at all? I know they have not posted in awhile, especially Meg.
Have a great Friday!!!

Hi guys! I missed you! Honestly, I don't know where I have been....
From September to Jan 5th I was working on getting my IL Real Estate Sales Person license. I passed my first time. My brother got me a job selling for his development company for the next 5 years. I am VERY excited.
My goal was to start dieting again after I passed the exam. The first weekend I pulled my shoulder. The next week I suffered extreme bruising on my legs from the bipolar drugs (they cause easy bleeding). The next week I fell down the stairs, and bruised my tailbone. I went to the ER, and they put me on bedrest for 4 days, and gave me darvoset.
I did meet with a personal trainer and got the bad news: i weigh 191.5 again, and am 39% body fat.
Good news? He does think that by incorporating a low carb diet and walking ALOT on the treadmill that the weight will eventually come off.
I am not going to be really strict like Atkins, but I am going to cook low carb meals every day. I figure that is something I enjoy, and therefore can stick to.
Dan is doing well. He started playing the guitar again (he has never played in the 5 years we have been together). He is going to take some lessons starting in March.
I am working with my children's theatre group again, and we are doing OKLAHOMA! I love that show. I am choreographing 50 kids. Needless to say it is exhausting.
I haven't read up on the back posts, but will start trying to catch up with everyone. I hope you are all doing well, and am glad to be back.
My friend from college should be arriving any minute. He is staying the weekend to see if he wants to move here (Chicago). We are taking him all over. Should be fun!
I will check in as soon as I can. Talk to you soon!

Seek and ye shall find --- welcome back Meg!!!! :grouphug:
Congratulations on passing your exam the first time around -- and I remember that you were worried! Smart cookie, our Meg. And, you'll lose the weight as it seems whatever you put your mind to these days you accomplish. There really is something to positive thinking ya know!
BTW, Oklahoma is one of Russ' favorite musicals most likely because he went to school in Tulsa. Actually, he loves musical theatre. When does the show open?? Keep us posted!
OK, now we have to go out and find Carol and Emily :).
I'm hungry and I am trying not to reach for snack food -- may grab some salad to curb it. For breakfast I made an omelet with egg white, ham and cheddar cheese and I actually ate it and I think liked it :cp: . I am not big on eggs but it really wasn't bad with just the egg whites. Perhaps it's just the yolk I don't like.
I bet you are all so interested in that  .... my cue to say adios and see you later tonight. Have a great one and don't be a stranger, Miss Meg!

Good morning everyone! Well, we dug out yesterday and woke up to find it snowing again! DH is going to go plow out our neighbors house (she's in a nursing home now though), I'm going to workout and shower, then we are heading out for the day. We're going to go see my Dad and DH"s parents in Green Bay.
DD had her hair highlighted yesterday and then got registered for hunter's safety class. She is on cloud nine! My dad is an avid gunsmen and hunter, so he is going to get her started on her education.
I noticed something great last night - my abdomin is changing! My upper abdomin and sides are bowing in! DH gave me that "I told you so" speech! LOL!
Well, I think I'm awake now to go do my Tae Bo Abs & Glutes tape. I'm sorry I don't have time to respond to everyone individually....hopefully tonight. I hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning ladies,
I have been a bad girl  I have binged the last two days terribly, I had cheese crunchies and diet soda on Friday night and those scrumptous muffins which were probably 390 calories a pc and then yesterday my dgs's b/day party, had cake and ice cream.. well it showed on the iron monster this morning. But I had a slim fast for breakfast and am back on track again. Don't know why I succumbed to the munchies but think it's cabin fever. we too got more snow and I am tired of it.
Going to the movies this afternoon to see Polly... but think I will pass on the popcorn. Hope I can be strong :nono: :strong: Going to church this morning then to Hallmark, want to get those blushing bears for the grandbabies.. they are so cute.
Well, hope everyone has a good Sunday and will check back later.

Good morning ladies,
I want to go to curves this morning, but not sure if I can get out of our road. We've been having lots of winds the last two days and we almost didn't make it in last night when they came home from the show... so I guess I'll wait till the plow comes through again. I really hate this crap. :(
Did good yesterday and plan to again today. I am hoping that starting next week and I am back to full time at work, things will be easier. I'll not have access to anything unless I take it to work. So I will only take good things. Just hope I don't get to hungry, then then I get a headache and nauses... so I'll have to take small snacks and eat every couple hours.
I am just about done with my applique stocking, I am glad to have them done. All I will have to do is put their names on when they are born.
Cathy, I bet you are excited about your trip.. and 3 aerial pictures, wow you must be rich. I just bought one for my hubby for Christmas last year of our business. I got a large one framed and with a medal tag with our name on it.. and it cost me over $300. I also bought all the 5x7 proofs. I framed 3 of them and gave my sons all one. I have the big one on a wall along side one from several years ago, to show our growth, it is nice. What size are yours? I had ours taken special, they took it from every direction and it was hard to choose which one to have enlarged.. but they are neat.
Well, nothing much else to say. Hi to Lisa, Terry, Meg and everyone else. Will catch ya all later.

Good afternoon, ladies!
Well, my friend Patrick left this morning :( . I will really miss him. He said he is coming back, and may move here in the Fall :cb: .
This morning I worked out on the treadmill, but them came back and had 2 pieces of pizza :nono: . Then I slept for 3 hours! I am now getting ready to watch Dr. Phil...I am SO lazy! :faint:
When it is over I have to clean the house. It is a pig pen since my friend left.
Hope all is well with you guys...
Talk to you later!
Meg :thanks:

Hi again,
Well today has been a good exercise day for me. I didn't think I was going to get out so I went down and walked on the treadmill this afternoon, then I did my home exercises... about half an hour later hubby called and said our road was open so then I went to Curves. That ought to shake my body up.
I am running out of projects to finish... amazing.. usually I start work and then think of all kinds of things I want to do... but this year I am ready to go back to work and I have all my projects done. It feels good, now to just concentrate on the job at hand.
Just wanted to pop in and say hi...
so HI everyone :)

Hi Ladies,
Dahlia, the prints are 11"X14" and she wanted $59 each for them or $99 in a frame so hubby said he'd give her $100 for the 3 unframed and he got them :D I like 2 of them and the one that i'm not so keen on is being given to MIL :s:  they were quite the bargain eh? I bought the frames this afternoon and hung 2 of them up.
I walked another 3mls yesterday and 2 this morning :cb: eating is bad tho' the chocolate  in me has surfaced

Wow Cathy, yes that was quite a deal. But like I said we had ours done special, they did like 25 different views from all sides and angles and distances. It was hard to choose.
Heading off to Curves this morning then back home to putter around. Have a good one all of you and catch ya later.

Morning! ;)
Sorry I have been AWOL for a few days. It's great to read so many posts this morning!
Did I tell you my treadmill broke again? This time the belt just stopped, but everything else is fine, even the incline. Sears is coming out on Monday -- $96 just for them to come and give an estimate. Last September I had the motor replaced but apparently that is not the cause this time around. Oh well, it's worth it. So, yesterday I did 2.5 miles of WATP with my hand weights -- I was so sore and stiff last night -- felt like I was 90 years old :yikes: .
My eating was horrendous over the weekend and I showed a 2 lb gain this morning :rollpin: :rollpin: . But I am not going to let it bother me -- I hope. I want to go to Florida late summer and I want to look better. Got to keep concentrating on those skinnier pics I have posted by the computer and the fridge. Yes a plan!
Wow, Cathy what a great deal on those pics! Had to laugh at MIL's  though.
Dahlia, you are doing so well with your commitment to Curves. I saw a news feature over the weekend about 22 minute Express Workouts that gyms are now incorporating following the Curves success.
Meg, glad you enjoyed your weekend guest, and great job on getting yourself to the gym. You'll do it!
Lisa, your daughter must be so excited to begin her "apprenticeship" with her grandfather. I bet it makes you feel good to see them doing something together too. Grandparents are very important to our kids. My dad died when Chris was 5 and I just wish he could have seen him play sports because my dad was so into it all and neither myself nor my brother or sister participated in organized sports. I like to think he was looking down though!
Need to go and grab coffee #2 -- took a few Tylenol PM last night because I couldn't fall asleep so I am groggier than normal this morning :tired: .
I am getting my hair done this afternoon and I can't wait as it is a mess. I usually go every four weeks for color but I am 2 weeks late for a variety of reasons -- I didn't feel well the day of my appt and then my hairdresser had a pinched nerve and had to postpone the appt again. I am so ready!
Have a wonderful day, friends, and see you all later :) .

Terry - have fun at the salon. I get my color done every 4 weeks also. It seems even a day late and my hair looks AWFUL!
Getting ready to go to the gym after I drive Dan to work. I am shooting for 25 minutes - 5 more than yesterday. Then I have rehearsal for the kid's show. I have to finish teaching the Dream Ballet today. I should be fun.
Did I mention that Dan and I are buying a house in the development I am selling? We got 4 sets of floor plans on Saturday, and are pretty sure we have picked our house. It will be done between 6/1/05 and 12/31/05. Along ways away, but enough time to save for the down payment.
I will check in after the gym...

Wow, Meg, a new house, a new job -- exciting things happening in your life right now :). Enjoy it all especially the house -- seems like you just moved into your "new" place not too long ago too.
Yep, got the gray roots all taken care of and even had my eyebrows done -- first time ever. I'm a big girl now! :cp: My mom was prematurely gray in her 20s and I probably would have been to. Call it vanity, call it anything you want -- I don't do gray well!
Making dinner so I had better go and check on it. Did manage WATP again -- two days in a row now. Be still my heart!
Hope everyone has a great evening ..... see you in the AM.
Always, Terry

Hi Ladies,
Day 8 of treadmilling with weights for me :cb: can't leave the chocs alone tho' I won't tell you what i've had today :o I should be ashamed of myself
Talking about hair colour, i'm going back to my roots  i think i've coloured my hair since i was 16 yrs old  but now that the silver streaks are coming in it seems that as soon as i've done it it wants doing again :rollpin: and i hate dyeing it because dark brown always turns out to be jet black and the sun seems to turn it red not to mention drys it out so i've been growing mine out for a while now. Don't know how long i'll stick with it tho' because hubby sometimes makes comments about my new grey look  T..did you have grey eyebrows too? :s:
Congrats on the new house Meg :D
Dahlia, we got 3 different views of the house but one of them ( :sssh: the one that i'm giving to MIL ) is a little too far away in my opinion but they were worth the money :)
P.S. I'll post the pics on my yahoo website if anyone is interested in taking a look.

Good morning ladies,
Well, the good news here is that it's not snowing.. but as hubby says, the day isn't over yet.
So what are you gals doing for your hubbies this Valentine's Day? I bought mine a box of chocolates and a card and I will make him a cherry pie square in the shape of a heart. ;) we already had cake twice this month and still have my b/day to go. I know he bought me something as he already told me he did, and he said it wasn't edible, :D so that is good.
Getting our taxes done this morning. That will be a big relief to have them done. Getting everything ready to start work on Monday. I'll only be checking in sporatically then.
Well, need to get somethings done around here before I head to town. Will check in later. Like Terry said,,, Wake up everyone and get your day going... make it a good one.

Hello Everyone,
Sorry I haven't been around in a while. I've been doing horribly these last two weeks. I really, really need to get back on track (she say's as she finishes here McD's fries). I did exercise on Mon and set the alarm to get up to exercise today, unfortunately woke with the second migraine in 2 weeks (couldn't be the junk I'm eating could it?).
I've been reading the posts, but I'll be darned if I can think of anything witty to say. So I'll just say "bye" while I head off to class. Have a great day everyone.

PS For Valentine's we're going to DH's brother's for his 2 son's b-day's :(. Then on Sun I get to show my sister houses (Yippy-Skippy). So we were just going to make a nice dinner, fire and chocolate fondu w/strawberries on Fri. I bought a card but no gift, I might run out to the store and see on Fri but doubt it. (I'm bad at this kind of thing)

Hey guys! Sorry I've been MIA. Its been a tough week. Our eldery neighbor passed away and she has been such a big part of our lives for the past 8 years. Both my children called her Grandma and she was just the dearest woman you'd ever meet. Her funeral is on Friday, DH is a pallbearer and its going to be very hard.
I didn't work out on Monday (too drained from emotions), but have worked out the rest of this week so far. Havent' had much of an appetite so I am doing really well with eating.
Speaking of hair colors - how timely is this? Treated myself to a new haircut on Sunday (spur of the moment thing). Cut my mid-back length hair down to a shoulder length shag. Still trying to figure out how to style it! LOL! Then Monday night I colored it burgandy, which you really cant' see unless I'm in the light because my hair is so naturally dark. I also treated myself to a tan on Friday and again today. I have psoriasis and it really seems to help, plus I get a 20 minute nap! Hee hee.
That's about it. Just keeping busy and plugging along. Will measure tomorrow and see what I'm losing in inches. I always lose it in the hips and chest first. DH notices this too!
Dahlia - did you get some snow yet? We had some flurries here...not even enough to amount to half an inch, but we are blowing and drifting!
Meg - How awesome! So many new things! Anything new is exciting, but these are two majors! Keep us updated!
Oh, I almost forgot. Jello & Curves are doing a promotion that I am going to take advantage of. Buy 2 Jello low fat products, bring in the receipt and get three FREE workouts at Curves! Here's the link: http://kraft4.promotions.com/health...page=offer.html
Take care all!

Dear Lisa,
I am so sorry to hear about your neighbor. Losing someone so close to you is so hard. I remember when my friend's Dad dies, she told me that she kept expecting him to walk in the front door - she just couldn't get used to the fact that he wasn't coming back. My thoughts are with you...
Hi Tech - sorry to hear about your migraines. They can be tough. Take care of yourself!
Dahlia, that pie sounds GREAT! I am giving my husband a shirt with red polka dots on it that he saw in a window last weekend. It is very mod looking. He already gave me a pair of earrings. We got them at the Art Institute when we were there with my friend this weekend. My brother and SIL are having the whole family over for ham on the 14th. Should be fun.
Just got back from the store. I have done well today - but did have a few bites of chocolate. I have a low carb dinner planned for the tonight and the next 2 nights. Did all the shopping today. I am trying to take it seriously.
I didn't have any caffiene today, and therefore bypassed the gym. I have a HORRIBLE headache. I am sure it will last a few days.
Just finishing up a low-carb snack. Talk to you later!

Morning Ladies!
Lisa, my condolences on the passing of your neighbor and I will remember her in my prayers this morning. It's never easy. I'd love to see a picture of your new look!
And, Tech, hope the migranes are gone by now -- my son and I get them occasionally but it is my daughter who is plagued with them on a much more consistant basis. I feel for ya! BTW, you don't have to always feel like you have to be witty or doing great on your weight loss plans when you post -- we're here for every kind of mood, up and down! Usually when my eating goes down the drain, it's related to stress. I commend you for trying to exercise -- you'll be back on track. Going off is all part of the process.
Dahlia, thanks for the reminder on Valentine's Day -- what a good wife here as I have nothing planned. I've got a few days yet!!
Cat, I can put up with a few gray strands but we are talking whole head of gray here :yikes: ! Have you ever thought of treating yourself and having it done? I'm not sure what the prices are in your neck of the woods though, but here they are not too bad. It's my one splurge on myself. But then, some women look really good with natural gray -- unfortunately I am not one of them. I have a friend who is in her 40s and she looks awesome -- she keeps it short and it's a very soft looking gray.
Meg, congrats on all the effort you have put back into your diet plans -- one step at a time. I just bet your hubby is going to look spiffy in a red polka dot shirt! Russ has a bright red one and even though it's not one of my favorite colors, he looks good. Hope your headache is better!
OK, Pam, Emily and Carol -- wake up!
Well, the coffee's ready and so is the newspaper -- round two of my morning routine awaits! Have a good one and keep on keeping on :).

Good afternoon ladies,
I'm checking in late today and am happy to see so many posts. Lisa condolences on your neighbor, losing someone close is always hard,, losing anyone is hard.
I got up early today and went to Curves by 8 so I could meet my friend for breakfast. We had a nice chat and promised not to let so much time go by again... but we can't do anything now till July. Work cuts into my social life...:) Anyway it was nice to work out early, I hope I can do that starting next week.
We get some snow every day it seems. The last couple days didn't amount to anything, but it's in the air. We have a lot on the ground, they are finally removing it from the roadsides, there is so much, if you had to pull off the road in many places it would be impossible.
Well, I left so early I didn't get a chance to read any emails so better catch up. Later

Hello All,
Didn't exercise today either, had to go in to the office early (well early for me) for my first closing :D. I am so happy now I've not only spent $$ on this RE thing, but made some :D. Still been eating poorly, need to get my but in gear (seems like I keep saying that), but I have been increasing my water back up.
:?: Someone was talking that you need to drink twice as much water as you do caffine or alcohol to make up for the dehidration (sp????) has anyone else heard this?
Meg - Yea on getting to work on the treadmill and increasing slowly good luck. Hope you're no-caffine headache is easing.
Lisa - Sorry to hear about your neighbor :grouphug:. Thanks for the info about Kraft/Curves, I think I'm going to try that, I've been thinking of joining. I also entered to win the 1 year, maybe I'll get lucky.
Terry - YEA on the WATP 3 days in a row, I'm impressed. I really don't get the migrains too often about 1 every other month or so, which made yesterdays that much more of a pain (no pun intended) since I'd just had one last week. I hope this doesn't mean anything.
Dahlia - I like the pansy pic. Congrats on getting to Curves early, I hope you can keep it up too.
Well, I should go take out the trash. I'm procrastinating (like that's anything new).
Have a great day everyone.

Hi Ladies,
T, I stopped going to hairdressers years ago after i was "scalped" by one and ended up in tears  funny how a bad haircut can have that effect  and since that day i've had family members cut it and i've always coloured it :D and it must be O.K. because i've always gotten compliments about my "nice hair". My hair is'nt grey as such its very dark with lots of silver strands i don't mind it at all ;) these days i'm more in favour of rinses that wash out after a few shampoos i don't like using anything containing peroxide or ammonia. I'm still thinking of having my hair layered and have gotten into the habit of walking around the mall and gazing into salons to check out the stylists 'do' its amazing how many hairdressers have terrible hair :yikes: I always walk away thinking "Good god who does YOUR hair?"
I missed exercising yesterday :( that was the first in 8 days :rollpin: but i got back to it today and walked 2.25mls with the treadmill set on the mountain program.

Tech - how long have you been in real estate? That is what I am going into. My job starts in about a month.
I was told you should drink like 64 oz of water a day, and then another 8oz for every 80z of caffiene that you have.
I made my low carb dinner last night. it was great! I think we have enough left overs for tonight.
Today I need to go to the gym again, and then prepare for children's theatre rehearsal tomorrow.

Hi Ladies,
I've been cleaning too Meg, i've just cleaned out my closet trying to win the never ending battle of downsizing  i've thrown out 4 pairs of shoes and cleaned and re-organised the rest and i've still got 48prs of boots, sandals and shoes left  i can't throw anymore out because the majority of them are unworn  it really is a fetish of mine buying shoes  and i intend to hit the shoe shops in England..i have no idea why buying new shoes gives me so much pleasure  but i just can't resist them and jewellery :D
I walked/jogged on my treadmill today and did just over 3mls alternating between one minute at 3.3mls and one minute at 4.5mls :cb: and i felt like i was bursting with energy afterwards :)
Hey T, i forgot to ask "just why does Russ find your eyebrows so amusing?" :nose:
Cool Mom
02-14-2004, 12:40 PM
Yep, Cathy, 48 pairs of shoes does qualify for a shoe fetish. And here I thought you just collected chocolate! That's our girl!
Lisa, if you are browsing, I was thinking of you yesterday with the funeral and all. I am sure it was a rough day for all. Hugs.
Woke up with the makings of a dewzy of a cold -- sore throat, stuffed up nose, and the sneezes. Good excuse to take it easy today and declare it a "Veg Day." But, I couldn't resist organizing my computer desk and that took an hour. It's great now that Chris has his own computer because this is all mine. I love having everything in its place -- my own personal fetish.
Cathy, Russ said I have no eyebrows anymore. I do!
Meg, isn't it amazing how laundry seems to multiply even more after you start to do it? I swear that pile has a life of its own sometimes :yikes: . I just did towels Wednesday and there were none left in the closet this morning. Showers are Chris' fetish!
Dahlia, you still catching up reading??!!
Tech, congrats on your first closing (I am assuming that it is anyway) :high:! Regarding water consumption, I have heard that also. I just drink it because I like it.
Starting to fade here and I think a nap is in order and some Sudafed.
Have a great Saturday, ladies :).

Hello and happy valentines day ladies,
It must be the time for colds, I woke up with one on Wed. and I'm still suffering with it... taking Coricidian HBP which helps but sure know when the 4 hours are up and it's time for more.
We have sunshine today but only 23 degrees F. but I'll take it. Hubby gave me a card this morning and a stuffed Gorilla wearing a leopard loin cloth that dances to the Jungle Boogie. It's cute and funny. He buys me a monkeyof some kind each VAlentines,, (long story).. :) :jig:
Haven't done any exercising since I went to Curves on Thursday. I am going to try to go earlyon Monday before work. I'll see how that works out.. I enjoy going and I feel good afterwards, but I don't get any boost of energy or anything like a high of any kind. Not sure what they are talking about when they say you get a high from exercising. :) :) :) :)
This guy is cute.
All those shoes.. wow. We have another Imelda Marcos on our threat.
I only own work boots and shoes, and everyday shoes and good shoes. I bet I don't have more than a dozen pairs all together. In warm weather when I am home I prefer to go barefooted. In the cooler weather at home I wear slippers. I don't really like shoes. I like to look at them in store windows but I think that is where they look the best.. oh well I'm wierd...
Well, nothing going on.. making hubby a roast beef dinner on my french red glass dishes for supper. I use them every Valentines day. Tomorrow we are going to go see 50 first dates. I have my cherry pie square baked, waiting for it to cool so I can frost it. Made an extra one for son and his family.
Well, going to go putter till time to make supper. Just got back from mil's, had to get a repair man out to fix her satelitte dish. Now she is back in business watching HGTV....
Take care all,

Good morning...
Dahlia - I have a horrible cold also. I took some alka seltzer cold last night, and it seemed to help. I still have an awful cough and runny nose. I look like death warmed over.
Our Valentine's Day party was great. I made a cherry pie with a heart as the top crust. VERY Martha Stewart. I was impressed with how well it turned out, considering I haven't baked a pie in many many years.
My low carbing has been going well. I am back into the groove again. I did splurge on VD (our hostess made home-made mac and cheese, and then I had some pie), but then I was back on track yesterday morning.
I am loving my decaf tea. Or sometimes I just have hot water with lemon. I wish I was working out more, but I just don't have the energy today with this cold. I think it is best to get better first. Or is that just an excuse??
Well, time to go lie down in an effort to get better!
Talk to you all later!

Hello ladies
Meg, sorry to hear about your cold.. they are miserable aren't they...? Mine is getting better, I've already gone through one box of pills, but just being in the greenhouse all day with the sun and the humidity was good.
I got up at 6:30 today and got to Curves and back in time to gather all my stuff and head to work.. I just got home and had my shower, supper is in the oven and I am exhausted... it takea bout a week to get used to being on my feet all day and wearing shoes... I hate shoes remember and am usually barefoot or in slippers. My feet are killing me.. I will take some ibuprofen with my supper. I just know I will be asleep by 9 tonight. Poor hubby got driven to the couch downstairs last night, between me and the dog he couldn't sleep. I only snore when I have a cold...he went in for a mri today on his brain... I kidded him that I always thought he needed his head examined... they want to rule out a tumor or anything causing his facial paralyist, he still has it. Hopefully it comes back ok.
Well, I have some cleaning up to do in the kitchen right now so I'll see you all again tomorrow. Have a good evening.

Good morning everyone. Miss me? LOL! I kinda dropped the ball this weekend and didn't even get online to check the boards. Our neighbors (Grandma's) funeral took more out of me than I expected it too. I haven't worked out since Friday but will remedy that today. Eating, however, has been good - haven't had much of an appetite!
Since working out, I had actually gained 3 lbs, putting me up to 203 for some reason. Today however, I can report an actual LOSS! Down to 197.5. The last time I checked on inches (remember, I've only been measuring since 1/28), I was down 3.75 inches all around.
After the funeral last Friday, DH took me to Green Bay to a huge closeout sale and bought me a laptop for my karaoke business. So now I'm DJing too! Eventually, I'll get all 500+ karaoke disks on the computer and won't have to lug all of them around anymore. We went out to eat for Valentines day - STEAK! Well, we actually planned on Red Lobster but there was a 3 hour wait! Yikes! Other than that, I've just been kinda zoning through this last week. Have to get back on track and get focused again.
Take care all!

Sniffly-Sneezy-and-Stuffy reporting in -- add me to the list of ladies with a wicked cold :dizzy: . I only get perhaps two a year so I'm not complaining. Lisa, congrats on the pounds lost! And, Meg, you're doing great by staying focused on your plans too. I lost those two pounds I had gained -- back to square one now.
Dahlia, count me in as one who hates shoes too -- I even go barefoot outside in the winter to get the dogs, etc. Not in the snow though! And, if I have 12 pairs of shoes, that's doing good too. Even hate socks. Now Katie is just like Cathy -- she loves shoes and can never resist a bargain!
Hope all goes well for your husband and I will keep him in my prayers.
Cat, John sounds just like Chris as he never separates his clothes either -- hmm, I should leave them as is as well. Heck, he wouldn't care either way. Must be a male gene!
OK, ladies, fading here --- time to take some more cold stuff.
Have a good one and I am sorry I didn't get to many personals this morning -- thinking of you all though!

Hi guys. Third night in a row where I moved to the couch in the middle of the night due to my coughing.
I feel a little better today. I have to teach the kids this afternoon - I hope I have enough energy!
I weighed in this morning, and haven't lost anything. I need to exercise more, but it seems I just keep getting sick!
Well, I am going to rest again...

Hi guys,
Well you can add me to the list of people with colds. Do you think it's possible to catch a cold thru e-waves :?: It was nice and sunny this weekend, but cold, they're forcasting 40's for later this week  I don't think I'll know what to do, may have to take the dogs for a walk.
I did get a little exercise in this weekend, we wen't mall walking with my sis and then walked around a camper and RV show. It was fun looking and dreaming, but man was I beat when I got home. Part of it was this cold starting, but alot was just being way out of shape. I'm going to be in trouble when April comes and I'm back to my other job.
Terry - guess I must have that guy gene too, my DH is always complaining that I toss my clothes in the bag inside out with the socks stuck in the legs
Dahlia - Hope DH's MRI went well. Count me in on the no shoes list too. It's really funny the dogs know I'm leaving when I put shoes on and run to the door.
Meg - I just got my RE license in Oct. I'm working out of a local C21 office, not for a builder like you will be. I wish you luck, I am constanly amazed at the turnover rate in the business. ps I'm using that cold as an excuse to and it works for me.
Lisa - Glad you could enjoy v-day even with the funeral. DH and I were pretty suprised at the lines for dinner too since we forgot it was valentine's day (we celebrated on fri because we were supposed to go to nephew's birthday party). Good luck getting back on track.
Cat - what does your husband due that he get's so black???? 48 pairs of shoes , I don't feel so bad now, my problem is I just don't throw old worn ones away.
Well, I'm going to go take some drugs and zone out until DH get's home. Have a great day everyone.
-Tech ;)

Hi ladies,
Meg and Terry, chin up girls.. keep warm drink liquids and all that stuff.. My cold is doing really well, I haven't taken any meds for it in the past two days.. working in the greenhouse is always good for that. Well, my second day back is over. In the last two days I with the help of one other woman have transplanted 1,728 tiny little seedlings into 432 flats. We usually do a little over 10,000 flats so we are off to a good start. It's easy but tedious work.
Tomorrow I will get up early and go to curves again. I have to work alone tomorrow so I won't get as many done.
Not much else going on... so I have to go make supper now.. have a good evening everyone. CAtch ya all tomorrow.

Bye Cathy!
Zookeeper - very cool with the DJing/Karoke. How did you get started?
I think I am finally getting better, although the nights are still bad. Last night I just went straight to the couch and stayed there. I am feeling MUCH better this morning.
I work today, and then am going to go to do 45 minutes on the treadmill. I made low carb buttermilk fried chicken last night. It was good, but it was the first recipe that really didn't have alot of flavor. I am going to add more seasonings the next time.
Hope everyone has an OP day!

Hope you all are doing well!

A quick good morning here, back from Curves, it has worked out this week anyway, I have gone to curves before work, it helps limber me up for all the walking and bending I have to do at work. Going shopping tonight and grabbing a bite out with hubby. Going to be going out for fish every friday starting next week so figured we make it an evening and get our groceries too. Then Saturdays I am free for office work and myself. Oh, the scale moved down this morning....yeaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!
Gotta run, see you all tomorrow. Have a good TGIF and stay op... and Meg get back to your exercises...you can do it....

A flight attendant was stationed at the departure gate to check tickets. As a man approached, she extended her hand for the ticket and he opened his trench coat and flashed her. Without missing a beat she said, "Sir,I need to see your ticket, not your stub."

A lady was picking through the frozen turkeys at the grocery store, but couldn't find one big enough for her family. She asked a stock boy, "Do these turkeys get any bigger?" The stock boy replied, "No ma'am, they're dead."

The cop got out of his car and the kid who was stopped for speeding rolled down his window. "I've been waiting for you all day," the cop said. The kid replied, "Yeah, well I got here as fast as I could." When the cop finally stopped laughing, he sent the kid on his way without a ticket.

A truck driver was driving along on the freeway. A sign comes up that reads low bridge ahead." Before he knows it the bridge is right ahead of him and he gets stuck under the bridge. Cars are backed up for miles. Finally, a police car comes up. The cop gets out of his car and walks around to the truck driver, puts his hands on his hips and says, "Got stuck, huh?" The truck driver says, "No, I was delivering this bridge and ran out of gas."
Snappy Answer #5
A crowded United Airlines flight was canceled. A single agent was rebookinga long line of inconvenienced travelers. Suddenly an angry passenger pushed his way to the desk. He slapped his ticket down on the counter and said,"I HAVE to be on this flight and it has to be FIRST CLASS." The agent replied, "I'm sorry sir. I'll be happy to try to help you, but I've got to help these folks first, and I'm sure we'll be able to work something out. " The passenger was unimpressed. He asked loudly, so that the passengers behind him could hear, "DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHO I AM?" Without hesitating, the agent smiled and grabbed her public address microphone. "May I have your attention please," she began her voice heard clearly throughout the terminal. "We have a passenger here at Gate 14 WHO DOES NOT KNOW WHO HE IS. If anyone can help him find his identity, please come to Gate 14." With the folks behind him in line laughing hysterically, the man glared at the United agent, gritted his teeth and swore. "F***you!" Without flinching, she smiled and said, "I'm sorry, sir, but you'll have to get in line for that, too."

THE TEACHER Snappy Answer OF THE YEAR A college teacher reminds her class of tomorrow's final exam. Now class, I won't tolerate any excuses for you not being here tomorrow. I might consider a nuclear attack or a serious personal injury or illness, or a death in your immediate family but that's it, no other excuses whatsoever!" A smart-*** guy in the back of the room raised his hand and asks, "What would you say if tomorrow I said I was suffering from complete and utter sexual exhaustion?" The entire class does its best to stifle their laughter and snickering. When silence is restored, the teacher smiles sympathetically at the student, shakes her head, and sweetly says, "Well, I guess you'd have to write the exam with your other hand."

How funny!!! I like 4 and 5 the best!
Well, big lesson learned today. I ate like I normally do on a saturday. 3 eggs with ham and cheese (I am on atkins, right?), 1/2 english muffin with a little peanut butter. When I plugged in that and the rest of the day, I found I was at 2500 calories :o :o :o
Now I know that I really need to cut back on the weekends as well! I just love using Fitday - it really helps out for stuff like this.
Well, I hope that you all are having a good weekend. Have any of you been following the story of the guy that faked his own dissapearance - and they had to turn around the flight to Morocco? He works with Dan! Dan even did work for him on the side on his wife's computer, and he gave us a $100 bottle of wine. I guess they are LOADED! He owns a Bentley!
Anyway, if any of you know who I am talking about, I have TONS of dirt, but I won't bore you with it. I know the story is national, but it might not be that big of a deal outside of Chicago.
TAlk to you soon!

Good Sunday morning to everyone,
The sun is shining already and it promises to be a nice day. I am going to church in a little bit here and then out to supper later with hubby and son and his girlfriend. We are celebrating our birthdays, hubby's was the first of this month, the gf's was the 13th and mine is tomorrow. Hubby is going to buy me a cake so I'll have to be good so I can have a piece.
I have been really making good choices all week, Lisa I am with you, weekends are harder. Sunday is the one day I enjoy having breakfast, usually egg and bacon or sausage, today we had a nice slice of ham with an egg and a hash brown and toast. The rest of the week I either have a slim fast or a bowl of cereal. It works out good to go to Curves before work. As long as the weather is ok I'll keep doing that 3 days a week. I could not go after work as I am way to tired.
Not much to say, everyone is busy having a good weekend I hope. So catch ya'll later.

Good Morning!
Sorry I have not had much time lately to post, but I have been thinking of you guys. Happy belated birthday, Dahlia :balloons: !! I hope you enjoyed your day and your cake :). Meg, you are doing great with your eating. I also find the weekends the toughest and have vowed to make more of an effort from this day forward. I have not heard to that guy, but will keep an eye on the news for more stories. I see Cathy is on her way to England, and I hope she gets a chance to check in every so often as she did the last time.
All is well, just busy and still feeling the effects of that stubborn cold. I really have not gotten to the computer much at all except to check for email. Is anyone else not getting email notifications on new postings here in 3FC? They seem to come sporadically now. Hmmm .......
We had a movie marathon these past few days -- keeping Blockbuster in business that's for sure!
Need to get my Monday chores going .... and WATP.
Hope everyone has a great Monday :).

Things have been going well. Hade lunch with a friend on Monday. Had high carb dinners both Sunday (for the end of Sex and the City) and Monday (there is NO excuse ;) ). Yesterday I broke the cycle, and am back on track. I made Pecan Encrusted Salmon from my Atkins cookbook- it was so yummy - I am glad we have leftovers!!!

Glad to hear that you are back on track :). I am probably one of the few who has never seen Sex in the City. I read today that they want to make a movie named the same, but "Samantha" is holding out because she doesn't like the way she was treated by SJP. Now, the movie I may rent!
I have been doing very well :yikes: -- three days OP with both food and exercise, and the scale has moved down 2.5 lbs since Monday morning. 7.5 more pounds to go before my first mini goal -- "ten pounds at a time (sound familiar?!). Of course that's not my official weigh-in day (Friday will be) so it may go up some. I have been doing SBD as best I can and WATP plus ab crunches. I know it's the exercise that's doing it for me at the moment.
Glad to hear that you are feeling better, Meg. I still have a few sniffles but nothing like it was before.
Hope all is well with everyone else. Cathy must be in England by now -- hope she's having a great time hugging her GD to smitherins!
Back to my coffee -- havea great day everyone :)

Hello,
I'm new and this is definitely the thread for me. I made a poster that reads "Increments of 10" and put it on my wall. So I was happy to see this topic. BTW, those Snappy Answers were great. I really liked 1,3,5 and 6. :D Soon as I get a scale (I'm a scale addict too, so I've really be avoiding it), which will probably be this Friday, I'll be able to post my weight. But I'm really, really, really apprehensive about doing that. I haven't bothered with a scale in so long... I don't really want to see the numbers that will look up at me. But what the hay, you can't change what you don't acknowledge, eh?

Well, now I need to spend some time getting ready for Oklahoma rehearsal today. I have to teach 3 musical numbers, and I need to choreograph them this morning. Luckily I have done the show before, so all I need to to is look at the old tape and write everything down. Much easier than making it up from scratch.

Hmm, well I don't want to be broke, because technically, I'm already tired of being broke. Advertising sounds fun. What's that like? Do business reps come to you and say, "Okay, we want something that will make consumers say, 'Whoa!! I want that *points*, but other than that, we have no other thoughts on the matter. What can ya do for us?"
You sound very happy with what you do. And I think volunteering is very important. :D Well I'm off to try to choreograph a dance to a hip hop song. I've always wanted to dance, but since I lack the ability for "Spontaneous Comprehensive Dance" I have to write down everything I'm going to do before I do it.

Good morning! Where is everyone? Hope you are all having spring weather! It is supposed to get up to 60 on sunday here in Chicago!
Bought another low carb cookbook yesterday. It is so hard finding a good one - that means with photos for me. I like to see how things are supposed to turn out. I am buying groceries today for a chicken pot pie (not a lot of crust), meatloaf, and baked pancake for sunday morning.
Sunday Dan and I are bringing food to a shelter. One of our New Year's resolutions was to do more volunteer work. We are making lasagna, garlic bread and ceasar salad for 65 people. I went shopping, and boy was it alot of food! 19 cloves of garlic alone just for the bread!!!! Good thing for costco - it really saved us!
I haven't been to the gym at all this week. I made excuses every day. Very bad. And we will be making lasagna all weekend, so I won't really have time to go. I will definately get there at LEAST 3 times next week.
Shayla, how did making up your dance go? I love doing stuff like that. It really makes me feel like I have a creative outlet. I taught my kids 3 musical numbers yesterday, and it went really well. They all got it. Saturday morning they run all of act 1, so we will see how that goes. It will be the first time they run it all the way thru, insterting all the musical numbers. should be interesting!
Talk to you later!

Hi ladies,
WElcome Shayla, it's always good to see new folks join our group.
Does anyone else find it rather amusing the people they get for these diet commerials? Take the Nutri system Nourish diet. This bony young woman comes on and says this is the best she has ever felt about her body. In the past 2 months she has lost almost 20 pounds on the nutri system and she got to eat 5 times a day and have chocolate every day... Now if this young lady needed to lose anything is debateable, any more and she'd be anorexic... do they think this gives us incentive to watch these pencil people tell us how easy it is to lose weight?
On the other hand, I have lost 5 pounds,, I had the stomach flu for the past 2 days, and even though I drank alot of water, I know I also lost water weight, but it feels good to see the scale so low...and am hoping can continue down from here.. I am still afraid to eat anything solid so maybe I can just get used to eating this way. but I am getting used to drinking lots of water. Which is a good thing. I am still weak and tired today but going to work in the office for a bit, am doing laundry and may take a nap. I"ve already missed two days of work, and didn't go to Curves yesterday. Seems since I've started exercising I have been sick more often.. hummm thought it would be different... but I guess just being around more people means more germs too.although I got this one from my dgs.
Meg, you were an actress, how cool.
Our snow is melting, the sun is shining, can spring be far away.... NO,, we got two greenhouses almost full only 12 more to go...
Ok. well hope everyone else is doing well, hope Cathy is having a good time in England, Terry hope your cold is better, hi lisa...

Good Morning!
Well, Sunday's weigh in has brought another 1.5 pound loss from last Sunday. I am down to 188! This new LIFESTYLE - note, NOT DIET, is really making me feel good, as I am seeing results. Never got to the gym this week, so next week that is on the front burner. I even went over my carbs on some days, but it just goes to show that by lowering them overall I can still lose. Bought a new low carb cookbook, and am about to make a low carb pancake recipe. I hope it is yummy!
It is in the high 50s in Chicago today. Is everyone else having great weather?
Hope so - talk to you soon!

Hey, Lisa! We miss you - hope you will be back soon!
Well, I am kind of down. I have been working on Oklahoma with my Mom and Sister. On Saturday, my Mom made a change at the end of rehearsal, and my sister got upset and walked out. My mom called her, and my sister yelled at her for 20 minutes. She thinks we are conspiring against her. I think she is depressed. She just went on and on, and really upset my mom. This morning I sent out emails to the family, and to my cousins and aunt and uncle inviting them to my 35th birthday party. I asked that it be adults only, as we have a small apartment, and it would add 6 more people with kids. All the other parents responded "great, see you then!". She responded that it was one of her kids' birthday's, and that they would not be coming, as they can't leave her alone on that day (she has 4 of the kids). I am hurt by this. The party is from 11am-1pm (brunch on a Sunday). Can't they have the whole rest of the day with her? Or am I in the wrong here? Any words of wisdom from you guys would be appreciated. I am too emotionally involved to be rational.
Talk to you soon!

Dahlia:
I enjoyed reading your post about the skinny anorexic pencil people and their love of diets. Sometimes, I just want to walk by one of those twig girls and say, "You know, you could stand to lose a few pounds." I figure that they are so self conscious about every little calorie that they would ignore the fact that I need to lose about 40 and say, "Ohmygawd! I should not have eaten that Saltine today! I am such a pig!" and then she'd like.. run off crying on the way to the gym.
I'm sorry to hear about your stomach flu. I've never had it, but I've heard that it's a totally craptastic way to spend your week. However, you did lose 5lbs in the deal, so it can't be all bad can it?
Get well soon!
Meg:
Yay! The scale went down! What are you doing to lose the weight. Is it like an Atkins thing. I love meat and was just wondering about the whole low carb thing.
I hope your sister gets over whatever is bugging her so that she can see that you and your mom aren't against her. My guess is she's worried about somehing else entirely - that it has nothing to do with Oklahoma or your birthday. Maybe you two could talk it out?
When is your birthday?
Me:
As for me, I still haven't bought a scale. Truth be told, I'm still a little worried about the prospect. But I will buy one! I promise! Cuz like, how am I supposed to track any progress for the week? Also, this is the week were I add exercise to my program. I was working on a gradual, add things on every week, program. So I'm starting out with the gym 3 days a week. So I guess now I have to get a scale. Up until now, I've been going to the gym whenever I felt like going. Which was like... once a week. *shrug*

Good morning ladies,
Cat, my incredimail was messed up too; kept telling me my provider was rejecting it... they said it was fine on their end, so I ran my adaware and virus programs, a thorough cleansing and now it works fine... those darn bugs crawl in from no where :( .
I am getting frustrated... I have been going to curves faithfully now since Oct. and I have lost quite a few inches all around. But my weight just stays stagnant, I go down some and then up again.. I am being very good about my eating, but it just don't seem to make a difference.. then being sick for 2 days I lost 5 pounds water weight, of which I've gained back 2, just what do I have to do to get that scale to fall down more drastically? I am working full time again, bending, lifting, walking moving alot, pllus still going to curves, I just don't know what more I can do short of just not eating at all. But then sure I'd be skin and bones,, but I don't want to be a cadaver. :dizzy:
Another thing frustrating me is these stupid pop up ads.. I have two count them 2 pop up ad zappers on my computer and I still get pop ups.... ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Other wise am doing well. Hubby is recovering from the flu now and son, so hopefully its run its course around here.. hubby just called me to tell me he just saw two robins courting in the front yard of work, so spring must be in the air. Yippeee......
Nothing else of any interest going on.. so now that I have vented my frustrations I can go off to another day at the grind stone... I figure I will complete my enrollment at curves and give it the year, I guess if nothing changes then I have to make mental changes and accept me as I am....and just be happy.
Have a good day all,
Dahlia

Morning Ladies,
Dahlia, i would'nt worry about the pounds at all if i was losing inches ;) as long as it gets you in a smaller size why worry? we all know that 2 people can weigh the same but look very different if one is toned and the other flab  just keep plugging away at curves..i would :) as for the pop-ups i never see any so i would try another program if i were you..i use PopUp Killer ;)
Got on my scale this morning and :nono: OMG (Macauley Culkin face here) i've got to get OP and sort this out :( still to unpack and get this house in order but at least we have something to eat now and i have'nt bought any junk :cp: intend to keep it that way too.

I went to the gym and lifted for the first time in a few years. I also did 10 minutes of cardio. When I got home I did another 20 minutes on my mini trampoline. This morning I did 20 minutes on the trampoline, and am going to try and fit in another 20 today sometime.
Cat, good luck unpacking! Dahlia - can you mix up your routine even more? That might be a good way to bust those pounds off. Don't worry - 2 pounds will be easy to lose - it isn't 10!
Hope you all have a good day!

Hello Ladies,
I finally broke down and bought a scale. Looks like my starting point is 195. Hmmm... *sigh* So, my current goal is 185. Yay, doesn't seem so daunting. I can do 10lbs right? Yeah. Of course I can. :?: I'd better exercise today. I'd been wanted to start running again for a while now. I guess I could start today. But I HATE it when my CD player skips. I bought it specifically because it was advertised for "joggers." The damn thing isn't supposed to skip! :( But that's no excuse not to get out there. The weather isn't crappy, so I guess I have no excuse at all.
I also had issues with my email. It didn't shut down, but i got a ton of useless mail with attachments. I was deleting email for two days straight.
Dahlia, don't worry about the pounds. If you're losing inches, but not pounds, it may be that you are losing fat but gaining muscle. And that muscle is just gonna burn more fat. So, yipee for Dahlia!
Cat: I hope you can stay OP and not buy junk food. Why does stuff that that's so bad for ya taste so good?
Meg: Keep up the gym thing. I tend not to go because there are so many thin college students there (Archbold Gym ;) ) and I feel so upstaged. But it sounds like you are doing well with exercise in general. Good for you!

Shayla,
The emails that i've been getting pertaining to be from admin, support, staff @ my addy were the scam!! that is the virus :( it comes in the form of a letter telling you i.e. that there have been reports of spam coming from your email addy and that it will be terminated in 3 days unless you re-sign by opening the attached file using the password in the form of a number that comes with it :yikes: so i thought OK i'll just let that email addy die because hey i've got others but today i discovered that yesterday when i tried to sign in at my website to see if it was true i'd used the wrong password so believed the emails to be legit when in fact they are not :spin: so today i found my correct password, signed in and my account is still up and running  and was full of those :censored: emails..so i've deleted the lot. I don't ever intend to open another email again unless its from someone i know

Hello Ladies!
Shayla - Archibold. Wow! That brings back the memories. Have you ever been down to Syracuse Stage? I lived across the street my jr. and sr. year. I can't remember the name of my dorm. Are you in a house? I was a KKG.
Cat, glad you had a great trip! Dahlia, sorry to hear about your SIL.
I have been sick with the flu for the last few days. I even got a flu shot this year. This is the first flu that I have had since 1993. I had 101 degree fever. That is high for me - I never get sick.
Anyway, I should be back on track tomorrow. Haven't worked out since my last post. Kind of upset about that. I need to be more committed - but I don't think you are supposed to work out when you are sick.
talk to you soon!

Walked another 2mls yesterday :cp: side of left foot is hurting me tho' almost feels like a sprain  keeps coming and going..hope it does'nt keep me off the treadmill.
Ate a little too much yesterday mainly due to the fact that i did'nt want to throw some Pizza out so ate it instead  but i made that my dinner and did'nt have the roast beef that i was going to.

Cat - great job walking yesterday!!! Hope your foot is feeling better. Don't want that to turn into a long term injury.
Feeling better. Taught the rest of the dream ballet to my kids yesterday. It was a 2.5 hr rehearsal, and I was exhausted. The flu really takes it out of you. Today I work and then have to go shopping for knitting supplies - I am teaching knitting starting tomorrow. I think I will hop on the rebounder tonight to get in some cardio. I know you aren't supposed to excercise when you are sick, but I feel pretty good.
The good news about being sick? A 1.5 pound loss. I don't think it will last, so I am not counting on it. Hope you all are enjoying your coffee!

Hi Ladies,
Meg, Well Done with the weightloss :D Think i've got the flu as well :( thought it was allergies but my head is splitting, hot and cold sweats and runny nose and the meds don't seem to help, i might nip out for some hot lemon cold remedy later.
Darn Foot is still hurting but i'm not going to let it stop me :strong: i walked 3mls this morning (before i came online ;) ) and i've just had blueberry pancakes for brekky :T not 10am yet so this is a good start to the day :) and a lovely day it is too, i might even get my bike out later and go for a ride.

It was great - they all seemed to like it and I had 2 others that are joining next week. I will have a total of 6 then.
Has anyone read Dr. Phil's book? I am thinking of getting it. I am looking for thoughts before I commit to the purchase.

Just a quick Hi Ladies! I don't have time to stay. But I will respond fully as soon as I am able.
Meg, to answer your questions:
Yup, I've been to Syracuse Stage. I've been there to watch performances. :D
I was in a sorority for about a year then I left it. When I came to meet the sisters, apparently the way they acted was "front" from the way they *really* were. It was sad, but I couldn't live with the disparity.

Sophomore - Dellplain
Junior - South Campus
Senior - Flint then Kimmel

Good morning ladies,
I haven't posted all week, but I've checked in, we don't seem to be posting much on here these days, now it's the weekend so it will be even quieter.
I only went to Curves twice last week, I was to sore from work toward the end of the week and the weather got really nasty so I didn't go exercise. Yesterday I had a migraine headache, and had to have my granddaughter go home earlier than planned. I felt bad in both way, I really wanted to spend time with her but I felt wretched. I still don't feel totally well today so am going to just take it easy. At curves the other day a group of us were talking and one of the ladies had been going 6 days a week since July and had yet to lose any weight. I've come to the conclusion you have to mix it up. You can't just rely on one type of exercise to do the trick. I am still going to go 3 times a week but will try to work something else in the other 4 days. Just wish this lousy weather would warm up so we could be outside more.
Well, nothing else to write about, hope everyone is well and having a nice weekend. Hi to Terry, Emily, Pam, Grandma G., Meg, Shayla, Cathy, and anyone else I missed...we need to post more often.

Not exercised today yet  i'm going out to stack some firewood in a min so i may count that as it for today ;) and miss the treadmill. Its nice out although it looks a bit windy. Springcleaned my kitchen this morning and it looks lovely :) pity i've got to use it! Hope we see some familiar bodies around here soon.

I still have a HORRIBLE cough. Other than that, I am better. I worked at the restaurant yesterday from 8am to 5pm, with no break, and I was wiped. I made good $$ thought - I work at an Irish place, and it was the official St. Patrick's Day celebration for Chicago - dyeing the river green, etc. Lots of corned beef and cabbage!
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

It is a GREAT day! Weighed in with a loss. - 186.5. I would say 3 days in a row with a loss is a loss. 1.5 pounds more, and I will be 10 pounds down from my highest weight ever of 195. My goal is to have the weight gone forever by xmas. At this rate, I am right on schedule!
Hope everyone is well -

Dahlia, glad to hear that you are getting a new machine :) could'nt have come at a better time eh? as you were just saying that you need to shake things up :)
I don't feel like exercising today as the house is cold :( when its sunny the house heats up a treat and we don't need any heat on but today its dull and windy and the house was only 50 degrees this morning, i've got the woodstove going but i've only got it up to 59 so far :( think i'll leave the exercising until later ;) it should be warmer when i get back from the mall.

Dahlia - I think that new machine is just what the Dr. ordered!
Cathy - I am soooo jealous - a woodburning stove. My husband and I really want one of those!
Worked today. Boring. Not a big $$ maker. I Just went thru a pile of stuff sorting the recipes from the home ideas I have cut out of mags. Now I need to make a grocery list.
Planning on getting on the rebounder later. Have a good one! :)

Meg, I grew up with nothing but a woodburning stove, and I vowed when I got married I would never have wood, well I married and still had wood up until the last 7 yrs... we have now natural gas,,, I would never go back to wood. Sure it's warm when the fire is going, but that's just it,, you can't go away and come back to a warm house unless the fire is kept up.. I used to hate coming home or getting up to a cold house...give me dependable gas... :) I like this little guy.... sorry but just had to put in my 2 cents worth.. I love fireplaces but even though the fire is cozy and cheerful, you have the mess of ashes and wood to contend with... we are converting our wood fireplace to gas also...
Cathy, exercising warms you up... I find its easier to exercise when it's cooler and then I stay warm quite a while after too...
Well, nothing on tv tonight so guess it's early to bed, I am tired. We did a lot of stuff at work today, and more of the same tomorrow... can't wait for nicer weather.

Dahlia - you crack me up! Dan and I are fighting about the fireplace in our new house. I want gas - he wants logs. I told him that he will never clean up after the logs, but he insists he will. I just found out we can't get logs - gas only. I win!
I rebounded for 30 minutes today. Felt pretty good. I also made low carb meatloaf for dinner. Both Dan and I liked it, so it goes into the recipes to make again file. I also bought Skyy Sport - the low carb Skyy malt beverage drink. It is pretty good. Kind of lemony. I think I am going to follow up with a little low carb Breyers ice cream!

I'm off to work here in a little bit. Glad you won with gas over wood, you won't be sorry.

Hi Meg,
Seems like it's just you and me in here lately..So how was your day? :) I just got home from work an hour ago, had my shower and supper is in the oven. I went to curves this morning before work, and I still have energy left.. maybe this is working :)
I actually weighed less after work today than I did this morning... another good surprise... :)
How does the low carb meatloaf taste? How do most of the recipes taste?
Your class sounds like fun if you like to sew. Last weekend I made a giraffe out of clay pots. It turned out so cute I think I'll make another smaller one this weekend and have a family... they are to be displayed on the benches with the plants. Thought it would add to the charm...:)

Dahlia - your day sounds great! How many days this week have you been to Curves? I have been so busy that I haven't made it to the gym. That is just NO excuse. I need to get on it. It just slows my weight loss down if I don't get there.
The lowcarb meatloaf is good. I haven't had meatloaf in a long time, so to me it tastes the same. All my recipes are good that I have made. Things like chicken breasts stuffed with prosciutto and spinach. They are just naturally low carb. I am making omelettes with goat cheese and tomatoes and thyme, and this AMAZING waffle thing. The waffle is pretty high in carbs - but low in comparison to what it would be in a restaurant. It was REALLY good.
My sewing class was great. We are making simple wrap skirts. I thought it would be nice to make a few, get a few sweater sets, and then wear them to my new job. I am hoping it turns out well! I got this black linen fabric with orange embroidered asian umbrellas on it. With black sweater and black heels I think it will look really sharp. My homework for next week is to pin the pattern to the fabric, and then we will cut it at the next session.
Your giraffes sound ADORABLE! How many are you going to make? Were they hard to make? It sounds really fun.
Just had some leftover meatloaf - good the second time. Getting ready to leave to pick up Dan from work. Then I may do a little sewing - have some curtains to make!
Have a good night - I guess you and I will talk tomorrow!

Hi Meg and Dahlia :) glad to hear that you are both doing really well :D
Did'nt get online yesterday as i went on a shopping spree  I for one can really shop till I drop :lol3: I have'nt exercised since Saturday and i'm bummed about that because it really helps with the weightloss but my foot is so sore that i decided to give it a rest  i'm practically limping around here  So Meg, you are getting gas then are you? our woodstove is on the ground floor and the hot air is forced through vents in the floor we use this for economy purposes..i like gas too but its so expensive to heat this house, we have propane heat as well ;) and i can come home and just flick a switch to get instant heat if i want to but we try to keep that use to a minimum..we also have electric baseboards but unfortunately not on the middle floor. Its a pity hubby did'nt install solar panels on this house because we get sunshine from dawn till dusk when the weather is nice :flow1: we see the sun rise in the morning on one side of the house and set at night on the other side :)
Wonder where everyone else has got to :?: i hate it when they disappear :(
Dahlia

Good morning Meg, and Cathy nice to have you join our conversation. :) I guess as long as we have each other we can keep this conversation going, and the others can just join in as they can. :coffee: Just had my slim fast for breakfast, going in a little early to work, have to take mil her medications. She is losing it, not taking her meds cause she gets confused what they are for, and even though I put them in a daily pill pack she moves them around and puts cotton in some of the days, and says that she took her pills but they are still there.. so from now on one of us has to take them to her daily and make sure she takes them. I seem to have been elected to do this today.
Anyway I think maybe just maybe things are starting to move for me. I am down another pound this morning and my clothes feel looser. Perhaps all the muscle I have been building is finally going to start burning off some calories... hope hope hope..... anyway I feel good about it so hope it continues.
Meg that material sounds really pretty, and I bet you'll look like a dream with that outfit. Your new job is that the real estate? I forget. :dizzy:
Yes Cathy gas is expensive, we have natural gas which is a little better than propane money wise.We have a three story house so it takes a lot to heat it too. But in terms of cleanliness and just plain hard work it is a dream for us. Luckily I had 5 boys, as they helped with the wood chores when they were growing up, but now it's just the two of us.. anyway we just love the gas and would never go back...if we don't have to. Tell us what you did with Olivia and I bet she has grown since you last saw her. I am thinking about having Jade, my 3yr old granddaughter over again this Saturday, we have so much fun, and since I was sick last week, I may do it again.... next weekend I will have my 2 yr old grandson for the afternoon. It will be his turn. He is a handful. He gives terrible twos a new definition.. and he has been like this since before he was 1. So I'll get a good work out then.
Oh my giraffes are adorable. They are easy to make, it only takes 2 clay pots, some glue, some wood dowels and a piece of foam and some paint. I'll make a couple, I also want to make a camel and maybe an elephant. I'll take some pictures and get them on here when they are all done.
Ok well I suppose I better get moving. Will check in after work to see what you two are up to.. Have a great day. :)

Cat - wow - shopping spree sounds great! What all did you buy?
Dahlia - I am sorry to hear about your MIL. I take over 10 pills a day myself, and I know that I get confused. I have one of the pillboxes you mentioned, in an effort to get it straight. Once I just accepted that I had to take them I stopped being depressed about it. Does she have alzheimers?
Well, just finished my tomato and goat cheese omelette, and now I am having coffee. I am really a mean omelette cooker now. I was having trouble folding them, but practice makes perfect! I have to jump in the shower, as this morning is when I volunteer to teach knitting. Then lunch with my folks, and then Oklahoma rehearsal. I am teaching the blocking to the song Oklahoma, so it is a big rehearsal.
Yes, Dahlia - the new job is real estate. I am very excited. I could be starting in a couple of weeks. I thought I wasn't starting until this June. My brother called yesterday and said they want me to start part time in the next few weeks. That means a shopping spree for me!!!
Hope you both have a great day!

Wow, Meg a shopping spree, you and Cathy are lucky... I went on a small one a short time ago with buying baby clothes, I have one of each new grandbabies coming so I went a little nuts in the baby department, then I also bought a couple outfits for the ones I already have... but I enjoyed every moment of it..
We don't know if mil has alziemers but we are beginning to suspect she may have the beginnings of it.. Scary part is she wants to get her car out now that the snow is gone.. and we don't want her to drive... she can't hear, she has hearing aids but refuses to wear them.. and she don't see that well, her eyes are always watering.. well hopefully now that I am making sure she takes her allergy meds that may improve.. but she if very stubborn and independent and we don't want to take that away from her but we don't want her to injure anyone either... including herself.
What fun Meg to be starting a new job.. and sooner than you expected.. it's good to start slow with part time... by June you'll be an old pro..:)
Ok, got to do payroll now then make supper. Will check in later.
