:coffee: It is 7:30 am on Saturday and I am up, I have already swept and vacuumed my house and now will do some office work. I am spending the afternoon with my dgd (3) again. I like this routine, I look forward to my Saturday afternoons :).
It is raining out today but it's 43 degrees. Tomorrow is suppose to get down to 28 for a high. So we have to enjoy today.
I hope you all are having a good weekend, I'll be checking in later to see what you are up to.

Its a beautiful day here for the first day of Spring :flow1: and i'm in the mood to get lots of jobs done so once i get rid of hubby i'm going to do a major clean up and then clean out my kitchen cabinets and re-organise them :D then its outside i go to sand down some furniture that is a half finished project from last year  decided its time to finish everything once and for all

Cathy,
Sorry to hear about your night, I hear you, I've been there, and I know what you mean.Sounds like you had a lot planned to do today,, bet you were thinking about it all the while you couldn't sleep..
Ended up having my son's whole family over for lunch today then they left my dgd here for the rest of the afternoon.. we baked cookies and decorated them, watched some cartoons and played, then we went shopping and ended up at the Dairy Queen, she got a treat and I took one home for the rest of the family. Had a great day. :)
It's getting cold out again and the wind is really blowing hard. Started making 2 more giraffes. Another big one and a smaller one. So I'll have a mommy, daddy and baby. Think I'll put a little bow on the small one :). Making a pot family also. Have to find a baby's bowtie for the daddy. You would think with all the boys I had I'd have one.. but I guess I didn't save any.
Well, going to bed early tonight, dh is already snoring on the couch. Poor guy he really works to hard especially this time of the year. There is just so much to do. We are all busy.
Will check in again in the morning till then. nighty night

Cathy - sorry to hear you didn't get a good night's sleep.
Went to my brother's house yesterday and he and my SIL were not really themselves. Ted and a friend drove to Milwaukee (from Chicago) to see the March Madness games. After the first game my brother's cell rang, with a message from the friend's boss saying to call home. He used my bro's phone to call home and the pediatrician answered the phone - then the phone cut out. They ran outside, and he called back. He said, "yes, I have a ride home, I won't drive - just tell me - just tellme". Then he fell to the ground crying. His 20 month old didn't wake up from his nap. My brother had to drive him home for over an hour. It was awful. My brother has a 20 month old, and he felt SOOO guilty. They were both really upset when I got there.
The project helped get their mind off it, but my SIL was still upset.
Today we had rehearsal, and it was exhausting. I couldn't get to sleep last night when I got home, so this afternoon I took a 3 hour nap. I just woke up, and now dan is asleep in bed! Silly, Dan!
Can't wait to sleep in tomorrow!!! And, let's all take a moment to be happy for what we have, as life is so precious. I will talk to you tomorrow...

Oh Meg, so sorry to hear about your friend's child... what a devastating thing to happen. It's every parent's nightmare....give him our condolences...will say a prayer for them all.
It's a mini blizzard out again today, spring bah humbug... where? certainly not here.
Going to church then to get a few items I need to work on my giraffes this afternoon.
Staying in the rest of the day and working on my giraffes and watching tv.
Hope you gals get some rest. A 3 hour nap, wow.. I snooze for 10 minutes on the chair I think I'm doing good..:)

We have snow also - how funny! It was 65 yesterday....
Dahlia, have fun with the giraffes. I think I will finish the kitchen curtains today, and maybe do some laundry. Also, I have a low carb chicken recipe for dinner.
Off to breaky with Dan, then he is off to a friends house to play guitar. He was on the phone with his friend and referred to me as "the wife". I totally laughed. I have NEVER heard him say anything like that before.
Back up to 188. I have been bad, and now am paying for it. Am going to be good again starting today. I will rebound for 30 minutes, and maybe lift some weights at home.
Have a great Sunday!!!

I have complained to our server serveral times they are suppose to be enacting a anti-spam program.. hope it gets up and running soon.
Well, it finally feels like spring. its 43 and sunny out, the wind is still quite chilly but it will change soon. The greenhouses are getting full and everything is so green and fresh and some buds and flowers are starting to pop out... looks so springy inside..
One more month of planting and then I'll be opening the retail center again. Time is flying by :)
Have to go take my shower now and get supper started.. Will check in later before bed to see if anyone posts.

Hi Dahlia - sounds like you had a nice Spring day! Today I drove Dan to work, then went to Blommer's Chocolate outlet, and bought chocolate to make for my kids in the show. Then lunch with my sister, and off to the craft store. Then I dropped my sewing machine off to get it fixed, and then home to hang pictures in the kitchen. I tried to nap, but the phone kept ringing. Now I am watching some TRASHY movie about Madonna. Soon I need to pick up Dan.
Hope everyone had a great day, and has a great night!

I just delete everything now unless its from someone i know.

Morning ladies,
Just got back from Curves and out the door in 5 for work, but wanted to check in. I got measured today, my body mass is down, I am plateauing with the weight. I keep juggling the about 4 pounds.. she agreed I need to shake my body up but right now I don't have any time to add anything, you'd think all the bending and walking at work would help... well it probably would if the treats were less, everyone keeps bringing in goodies for breaks and lunch.. have to get more will power or else ban them, but can't do that, not fair to the others...
It's raining today but should reach 50 is a good day for working, as with the sun shining it gets to hot in the greenhouses,, a nice rainy day is a welcome one at least once a week.
Check in after work, have a great day, and those cowboy hats suckers sound cute, I used to do that with chocolate... it's fun and rewarding... one Christmas I made 4 candy houses like gingerbread houses only out of colored chocolates for the boys classes... the kids didn't want to eat them they were so neat... but they did.:)
OK..see ya later

Dahlia - even if you can stay where you are at, that is winning the war. I have fallen off the wagon pretty badly. Today I am trying to get back on. I can't wait until I start my Real Estate job, and quit the restaurant. Being around food all day is challenging.
As far as the treats go, when you see it, ask yourself if it is really worth it - and remind yourself how it would undermine your work on yourself. Maybe that will help.
Well, kitchen is almost done. Dan is hanging last 2 pictures right now. He hung the 2nd set of curtains last night. My dad is coming over today to put in our under-cabinet lighting. I can't wait! The lighting is vital because of the hunter green paint. it is really dark in there.
Well, I am going to try and stay OP today. I have sewing class tonight - pinned my pattern to my fabric, and tonight I think we cut them out and start sewing....

Hi Dahlia and Cathy!
I am SOOO excited. I picked up my sewing machine, and took it to class. I am the most advanced person there, as no one else has ever sewn before. She is actually having to teach people how to use their machine (NOT what the class is about). I tried on my skirt, and IT FITS!!!! Granted, it isn't done yet, but it is pretty far along. I bought more fabric, so I can make a second one. I am SOOO happy!
My Dad finished the under-cabinet lighting, and it looks GREAT. It really has been a wonderful day.

Morning Cathy and Meg,
Looks like we have our own message board...:) oh well, that's cool. It's 55 here already, looks like we just may have a nice spring day. Meg that is great about your skirt. I have sewn in the past, used to make clothes for my kids when they were younger. But I get frustrated easily when things don't go right. I sold my sewing machine at a yard sale, I do have two older ones, inherited from family so once in a while I sew a pillow cover or something.. but I think it's neat that you are having such a great time with it. I wish I had more patience to do more.
Well, I finished my giraffes last night, all but the eyelashes which I have to go to Wal-mart and get some. They look so cute... another project finished.
We are moving right along at work. We are in our 9th greenhouse, we have 6 more to fill yet... it's slow but steady work. We handle every plant in our place at least twice. And believe me that is a lot of plants. We do over 10,000 flats alone that is over 483,000 plants, not to mention all the other size containers and pots and baskets...but hands don't come clean till August.... don't know why they call it a green thumb, when it's really a brown hand..LOL but it's neat to see everything growing.
Ok. well gotta go talk to you later. Have a good one.

Dahlia - we are in the 60's today also! Spring has sprung!
Glad to hear you finished the giraffes. Are you going to sell any of them - or just use them to decorate? I wouldn't be suprised if you got offers when people come to buy plants.
9 greenhouses is alot of work. I can't imagine. Do you have a nice yard? I bet you do because you know what type of plant works in sun vs. shade, etc. I am jealous!
Well, today I teach knitting, and then off to my sister's to help her organize her house. I think she thinks this is a one day task. We will really only be able to do her office today. I hope that doesn't get her down. I wish I could blow off knitting, but that really defeats the purpose of volunteer work  .
Dan got home and loved the under-cabinet lighting. The kitchen looks so polished and put together. My Dad said he might even put some in my mom's kitchen.
Alright, need to get going...

You two are so productive :D suppose i am too really :dunno: today i'm replacing floor tiles that have got chipped on the stairs  one of the hazards of having floor tiles i guess  the hard job is done, thats removing the old ones and chipping off all the grout and adhesive. Today i glue down the new ones and then grout them tomorrow..hopefully there'll be no more accidents for a bit. Then i might start varnishing some of the furniture thats half finished around here  i have a swivel captains chair downstairs that is supposed to be used for my computer..i should really finish that then i can sit in comfort this one has a metal back and gets uncomfortable after a while.
I had a really good day yesterday and i exercised for 30mins too :cp: 20mins bike and 10mins resistance bands. Just had pancakes for brekky and wondering what exercise to do today :chin:
Meg, i can't believe that those women can't use a sewing machine  i learned that in school..i used to sew quite a lot when i was younger and can make clothes without using patterns..don't bother much nowadays unless i'm mending something or making curtains.
Dahlia, :yikes: what a lot of plants i can't even imagine seeing all that lot.

Hi Meg and Dahlia,
Meg, Tile job went well :) it was'nt a huge job :nono: just a pain in the @$$ i put a big sheet of paper on the new tiles saying "KEEP OFF" and when i went to check on them the next morning hubby had stood on one on his way out and broke it right in half :rollpin: the first thing he said to me when he came home was "sorry about your tile" so that one is off again waiting to be replaced and the rest will be grouted today, did'nt do them yesterday because i was so annoyed that one had been broken!
I'm back on my treadmill again :cp: and walked 3mls, 3mls and 2mls over the last 3 days :) not sure if i'll be doing any today or catching up on jobs. Been eating Pizza and chocolates over the weekend but i'll be back on program tomorrow.

hi Meg and Cathy,
That would be so frustrating about that tile.... MEN.... what is with them? I hear ya....
This weekend has been so busy, son and his gf are home from college and we have been going out... Friday we went out to dinner with them, then for our groceries so was late,, last night we all went Moonlight bowling, there was 8 of us, it was fun but didn't get home till almost 2 am.. then I was up at 7 to go to church for early mass cause hubby's bro and wife came into town so we met them and his mom and his sister and her family at a local restaurant for lunch to celebrate his mom's 89th b/day which is tomorrow. I did good, just has a bowl of soup and a salad...then came home put laundry away and got into the Easter candy... :nono: oh well, I'll be good the rest of the week again.. I'll be at curves by 7 am tomorrow morning. I think I can feel a difference in my clothes, they are looser. So something is working even if the weight is going off slowly... I am building up muscles.
Meg, you can sew yourself a whole new wardrobe, that would be neat.
It is 70 degrees outside, so beautiful I bet we get a storm tonight. WE've missed them the last couple days.. anyway its gorgeous out, I was out on my deck for a short spell earlier...I love it... I know it won't last, it will be cold yet a while but have to really enjoy these days when we get them.
Well, hope both are having a good weekend, Cathy, take a deep breath, punch hubby out and you'll feel better, then let him help with the tiles...why isn't he doing it in the first place?

Getting ready for work, and then I think I will come home and sew this afternoon. That, or finish my suckers. I think I have about 30 more to go. They don't take that long. Most of it is hardening time in the fridge.

Possibly a dessert if one of the other ladies brings it.. they mentioned it yesterday. It gives us a little change from ho hum lunches..:)
Ok well gotta go finish getting ready for work.. and Cathy good job on the tile. I bet your hubby got the message loud and clear LOL putting a bucket there is a funny idea... one way or the other he'll get it if he kicks the bucket LOL

Dahlia - what fun with the lunches. I saw on Discovery Health a show where teachers did the same thing to lose weight. Then they walked the stairs at the school for exercise after work.
I have only used white and milk chocolate. At xmas they have green milk chocolate, and I have a mold for xmas tree pops, but I always forget to use it. It would be nice to put one on every gift - maybe this year I will remember. I will try speed setting them in the freezer. Thanks for the tip!
Dan and I just walked to Starbucks. It is 60 out here in Chicago. Nice. It is a good day for me to go shopping - no rain.
Last night Dan and I went for pizza, and pre-ordered our pizza, so we walked in, sat down, and they served us right away. The woman at the table next to us was visibly pissed as her pizza came 10 minutes later. All her kids were staring trying to figure out what had happened. Very funny! It takes a half hour, so we saved a bunch of time.
I bought fabric for a second skirt, so when I get home I am going to start on it, trying to catch up to where I am on the first one. I want to make two so I really have a handle on my new sewing skills. I am like 4 steps ahead of the class. I must brag - I am pretty proud of myself! I might treat myself to a pair of pinking shears one of these days, and I think I need to get my scissors sharpened.

Hi Cathy and Dahlia -
Just checking in before bed. Had knitting class again today. Only one girl came  . More people want to start, but because it is at a shelter, I pay for the supplies - about $15 per person. I would love to get the needles back from the other 3. THey haven't shown in 2 weeks. Is it rude for me to ask for them back?
Sewed alot today. 2 skirts are done, they just need snaps. Starting a third.
Have a seminar on fair housing tomorrow AM. Then off to my brother's house to help them out. They have movers coming to remove everything from part of their house as they are building an addition. His wife is 7 mos. pregnant, so he wants my help packing stuff up and organizing, while she watches their 20 month old.
Hope you both are well. Cathy, great job on your treadmilling!

Meg, I agree with Dahlia  THEY are the rude ones for not coming back
Dahlia, when you ask "do i do anything else with it?" do you mean running? if so the answer is i can't run yet but this morning i did the program where i walk @ 3.4mph for 1 min and then jog @ 4.5mls for 1min :cb: did that for 50 mins which is 3.20mls :D
Gorgeous George was my friend this morning and i'm down 2.5lbs :high:
Just doing laundry, its absolutely beautiful out so i'll be hanging out my washing for the first time this year

Thanks, guys. I think I will go ahead and ask for them back. The one woman that came is being put into a drug rehab program for a month, and I am going to buy her yarn to make a scarf so she has something to work on while she is there. She is going to be doing some hard work there, and she should have something relaxing to do on her down time.
I just made a list of questions to ask tomorrow - schools, etc. ONe of the places looks really nice, and has a pool and fitness center and club. It also has a room especially for a home theatre, which is something dan and I want. Unfortunately, it is REALLY big. I need to find out how much it is. It is the only one that I have seen that we would really be interested in. We do get a 5% discount, because I work for the company, so you can imagine that it adds up to a hefty discount off the price. And I can say I bought into the development I am selling, which is a big selling point. I really need to see this other place. I don't want to just buy into our development because I am working there.
Need to clean the house, and to be honest, need to get back OP. I fell off the wagon a few weeks ago, and have gained back what I lost. I have really seen that carbs are my enemy. ANy words of support?
Well, off to clean,
Meg

Hmmm, :chin: thats the downfall with those low carb diets Meg :( the lbs seem to come back quick once you indulge :( why have you started eating carbs again? have you found that you are missing them? maybe you would be better off on a different diet :dunno: it would'nt work for me because if something is off limits then my bod decides that it wants it

Good morning Meg and Cathy,
:coffee: How is your weekend going? Mine is pretty good, despite the really cold weather. Spent the day with my dgd yesterday. She is such a character, we had a good time, then we took her home and spent some time with her brother... those two are so funny... the loves of our life...so is our other dgs but we don't get to see him near enough.
Going to church in an hour then have to run a few errands for hubby and my son. Going to an Avon open house this afternoon. Should be interesting.
Tomorrow it's back to Curves.... Cathy, you say you run as well as treadmill. You mean you jog outside? Didn't you hurt your foot? How is that doing?
Well, not much to talk about this morning.. will check in later see how you gals are doing. Have a good one.

My foot is a lot better although it does ache if i try to do too much :( i've taken the weekend off from everything this week  don't think i'll be exercising today :dunno: i'm gonna help hubby load up firewood. Need to put my hummingbird feeders out too because they keep looking for them

Good evening girls..
Hope you both had a good weekend.. with the time change and all I am tired already,, so going to bed early... I have been reading some interesting articles this evening..concerning losing weight,, it said that if you don't get enough sleep it messes up your metabolism.. I have not had a good nights sleep in so long I can't remember the last time I slept thru the night..and that if trying to lose weight one should drink at least 3 glasses of skim or lo-fat milk,, that more calcium lowers your appetite as well as is good for your bones. And that one should eat a snack *healthy of course* every 3-4 hours. So I am going to try to react to all these and add them to my regime.
See if it will help the scale to move faster.
The avon open house was fun, there were some ladies there I hadn't seen in a very long time and we had a very pleasant afternoon,,, it felt good to be out.. and we got some nice bargains and a free gift... then I came home and put together a wrought iron step plant stand I bought several weeks ago. It looks really nice, I think I may even use it at work for a display..then it will go on my deck.. My deck is huge and I plan to make it into several outdoor rooms this summer. I have plenty of swings and gliders and will purchase a few more chairs to go with the tables I have. It is my newest project for this summer.
Ok, well enough for today, I am heading off to bed to get more much needed rest.... will check in after work tomorrow.

Dahlia - sounds like you have a nice project ahead of you with the deck. Have fun with it!
Cathy, I don't know why I fell off the wagon. I wasn't even really limiting myself that much. I just need to make more of an effort. I am trying to start again today.
House shopping was great. I learned alot how people present their housing developments, and how I liked (and didn't like) being treated. When I had a mortgage question, they got the mortgage guy to answer it, and there was NO pressure. If it wasn't a loft building, Dan and I would actually consider buying there. But lofts just aren't our style, we are far to classically inspired with our traditional furniture. We are looking for crown mouldings - not exposed brick.
One place didn't even give us the presentation. She just handed us keys to go look thru the model, which was way too expensive. When I told her we weren't interested because we needed room to seat 16 for dinner parties (the size of my family), she just said "okay, nice meeting you". Not nice...
Anyway, off to waitress. Can't wait to be done with that!

Hi Meg and Dahlia,
Meg, I would prefer to be given the keys and let loose  although its strange that she was'nt "pushy" at all :dunno: does'nt sound like she's in the right job to me
Dahlia, i've been an insomniac all my life :tired: i never go to bed and wake up to daylight  i'm usually up every hour or two :( sometimes i watch hubby sleeping so soundly and i wish it was me :^: but i look at it this way if my body needed the sleep then i'd get it and i don't feel lousy or tired the next day (well, rarely) so i don't worry about it. How do you plan to make your deck into several outdoor rooms? :nose: does this involve builders? or do you have something else in mind? it sounds like a great idea.
I did'nt help with firewood yesterday  i just did a quick 20 minute walk/jog on my treadmill, walked another 3mls this morning and i'm back to business after my weekend binge of pizza, beer and chocolate easter eggs  not eaten yet so i'm off for a spot of lunch

Good morning Cathy and Meg,
Well I am back from Curves and getting ready to run out the door for work. The sun was shining a few minutes ago, suppose to be a nice day meaning it will be hot at work..yesterday started out cold but ended up nice...
What are you two up to today? I wonder if anyone else is still reading this thread or is ever going to post again... wonder why they don't.. not that I don't enjoy chatting with you two but it sure downsized.. they can't be that busy.. come on now... wonder if they all ditched us.. or are doing so bad they are afraid to come back... hummm if they are reading hope they comment on that one.. :coffee:
OK, I"m off. have a good one..
Dahlia
Oh to make outdoor rooms on my deck I plan to do it just with the arrangement of the outdoor furniture... it's about a 35'x40' deck so I have lots of space.

Dahlia - I know what you mean. I sometimes feel silly just posting with the three of us. Too bad we all don't live in the same city - then we could just meet once a week for coffee!
Today I am reading my Dr. Phil book, and doing some online journaling as a part of it. I really need to clean the house. I got out some old suits that don't fit (too small :( ) and am selling them on craigslist.org (similar to ebay, but not an auction). It is free to post. I have sold alot of different stuff on there, and am hoping clothing will also be a success. I need to re-organize my closet. I hate cleaning my bedroom, as it is too small, and the light flickers because there is a short in it. I need my dad to come fix it. I just never remember to ask him when he is here. Dan is just tooo lazy :dizzy: .
Once I read some more I will let you know what I think of the book. I need to get down to business, and really address some issues that make me undermine myself when it comes to my weight loss. I am hoping this will guide me down that path.
How are you two doing in terms of where you started and where you want to be? I would love to hear.
Cathy - have fun with your project. Where are you going to put the furniture once you are done? Dahlia, I would love to see photos of your porch once you are done arranging. Maybe you can post a photo for us to envy!
Congrats to you both for getting your exercise today. Cathy, your dedication to the treadmill must be paying off! And Dahlia, I am really proud of how you have made Curves a part of your daily schedule. That is how it should be. I am sure it did not come easy at first, but you seem to really have integrated it now. Good Job to both of you! :D
I will check in later!

Hi Meg,
Don't feel silly about posting with just the 3 of us. I think it's rather neat. We 3 can come to be close friends..as for how I am coming along, well I still need to address my eating patterns. But I am making better selections and slowly getting into healthier eating. But I still have my downfalls, but I don't flip out over them, I just accept it and go on...yes it took some doing but now getting up early and going to Curves before work just seems natural to me.. on the days I don't go it seems odd. I think throughout the summer I am going to keep getting up early and going at 7... before it gets to hot out and then I'll have the whole day for other things but have my basic exercise in. As for the furniture on my deck, I store it in my basement and/or the barn we have at the greenhouse. I will take pictures and get them on line some how so I can show you what I am doing..
Cathy you are doing great on that treadmill and with a sore foot. Is it getting any better? I haven't used my treadmill in quite some time.. not home enough to... but will try to incorporate it again this fall in my routine.
Ok, well just got back from work, and have to work on an ad for the local newspaper letting people know we will be opening on May 1.. it has to be ready by Monday so I need to hustle..
Catch ya both later,
Dahlia

Cathy, Dahlia and Meg -
I used to post to TPAAT years ago and just started posting again on a WW board - where I am back again for at least the 5th time.
I'm glad to see some of you still here (though I see there was a drop off, eh?) and I'll be joining you again - a sad time to join, though, poor Meg - I'm so sorry to hear of the tragedy. Nothing is worse than a child committing suicide. My nephew committed suicide at 20 - my sister has never been quite the same.
This has been my first week back at WW and I've been trying to figure out "why now?" why will this time be different and how will I get to my goal (starting weight 186 - Goal, well, I guess I'll shoot for 140 and decide then) of course, losing weight and getting healthy is my goal every year, so I haven't really come up with a resounding reason to make it work this time - which is a little scarey when you think about motivation :dizzy:
I'm taking it one week at a time and trying to do some of those things like listing all the wonderful things about being thin - it's just been so long, I don't remember what's so good about it!! I have had some health scares and I'm 51 now and wanting to retire at 55. So I think the main reason is I want to look good, feel good and be able to play like crazy when I get out of Lockheed Martin. So health and really changing my habits is the focus.
My labmonsters are 5 years old now and I really can't call them labmonsters anymore - they're sweethearts. I guess I should call them labsweeties. We go to the park a lot and as my health is improving I'm walking a bit faster. I also have a treadmill that I'm determined to not let get dusty as well as a good set of weights - and all those exercise tapes that ARE dusty.
I'm trying to set weekly goals. (All this is very easy to say since this is my first week!! ;) ) But I've done well this week with the journaling and water which were my goals for this first week back at WW.
I weigh in tomorrow and will let you know how it went. Hope none of you have a challenging Easter ahead. Not having any kids or extended family around and being heathens, we don't celebrate it - that's the good news, I guess. I leave town on Monday for a four day trip for work and that means eating out 3 meals a day. Yikes  Guess my goal for next week will be to lose anything!
Well, girls, glad to be back (though I guess, I'm not glad that I need a weight loss message board.... :^: ) Take care,
Cris

dan came home with another guitar today. he is really enjoying his new hobby. i haven't quite finished with dr. phil's book. once i get my act together, i can start up with that again.
anyway, i hope you are all doing well. talk to you soon,

Good morning ladies,
Nice to see you Chris, we can use more faces in here.. :coffee:
Sounds like you have a plan, hope it works for you this time. I myself am 54 and trying to get into better shape so I can enjoy my grandbabies. :)
Meg how is that book coming? What words of wisdom does Dr. Phil have to say,,, I heard he pretty much just copied other people's philosophy and reworded it for his own book. But I haven't read it so I don't know.. guess you can tell us when you finish reading it... :^:
Yesterday we only worked till noon, then the other girls and I went out for Chinese. Then I spent the entire afternoon shopping, I'll never go on Good Friday again, it was so busy you couldn't even enjoy it...but I bought my 3 yr. old dgd a pretty EAster dress, shoes, tights and a purse (of course) what young lady don't need a purse right? ) as she is going to Easter mass with dh and me. Then having all the kids who can come for dinner, that is 3 out of 5 not to bad, and their families. Will only be 10 of us though.
Today will be spent baking a carrot cheese cake, and cherry pie squares, and cooking scalloped potates, glazed carrots, creamed peas, a ham, polish sausage and baked beans. Add a salad and rolls tomorrow and we have a feast. We'll be eating leftovers the rest of the week I am sure.. I always make more than enough food. I also have to clean my house, the usual weekend stuff, vacuum, dust and sweep and mop my floors.
Chris you labsweeties are cute... I have two, a female that is a beagle/german shepherd mix and a male who is all beagle...the female is not doing so well. She has a bad hip, she will be 12 human years on the 19th of this month. I bought her some doggie aspirin and glusomine for her joints but she is to smart and it's hard to trick her into taking medicine. Monday I will take her to the vet, but I am afraid if it's to bad we'll have to do something drastic, I can't stand to see them suffer. So I am not happy about that..she is very close to me...
Well, I better get to work, I have to clean off my desk in the office first before I can start cooking and cleaning so I best get busy.
Have a good EAster everyone

Cathy, Dahlia and Meg -
Had my official weigh in at WW yesterday and lost 4 pounds for my first week. :D Too bad it's 3.5 pounds of water weight - but I'll take it!
My big challenge now is that tomorrow I leave for a 4 day work trip to New Orleans - and will be staying about 3 blocks away from Cafe du Monde - home of the beignet. I don't think I'll even try to resist but I WILL lose weight this week. If I have to exercise every morning and night and eat salads for every other meal (besides the meals of beignets!!) I WILL lose.
So I'll check in with you on Friday and let you know how it went. Have a good week.

Hello ladies,
Chris, New Orleans, sounds like fun.... what do you do for work? and what do you have to do in N.O? also what is a beignet, I never of that before.
Our meal was good, now I have enough for lunches for a couple days. Not really much left though considering. I am tired.. but it is a good tired...I will go rest the rest of the day,, I'm certainly not going to have to cook anymore today. Church was nice .. my dgd was really well behaved... I was so proud of her..
My dog is doing better. But now that she isn't in as much pain she refuses to take her pills no matter how I disquise them... she is worse than a kid... at least them you can reason with.
Cathy, we always gather together on a holiday no matter what it is.. we are very family orientated here and sometimes we get together for no reason at all.. just to do it....that is what we figure families are for...and if we all can't get together we at least chat by phone just to touch base with each other.
My boys grew up that way so they keep it going... when I was growing up even though I came from a large family, *IT"S a long story* my childhood was a lonely one, being the youngest of 10, they were all grown with families of their own by the time I came along...so our holidays were quiet and lonely, I vowed to myself if and when I have a family we were going to stay in touch and be together as much as possible, and we do and I love it.. as do the kids.
ok. well going to go rest now.. check in again tomorrow.. definetly need Curves in the morning.. after today... :^:

Well, children's theatre is going slowly but surely. Kids are getting back to normal. we had to add a rehearsal and move a different one because of the funeral. We have had rehearsal 4-8pm Mon, tues and tonight. I just decided I am not going tonight because there is alot I need to take care of (no clean clothes, house is a mess, no food in the house, and need to do some work for my new job.) Good morning ladies,
Hope everyone is doing good and having a good weekend. It's going to be raining off an on here most of the day so I am going shopping this morning then going to work cleaning house this afternoon and getting things sorted and ready to be taken to work on Monday.. all 4 of us women will be there so we are going to clean up the retail center and get it ready to open on May 1. We still have some transplanting to finish but it's not ready yet, so that works out well. There is so much to do and so little time to get it done, now just 8 more weeks and it's over till next season... :coffee: :dizzy: but we've been doing this for so long.. guess we should be used to it by now.. I swear each year it's goes faster....
Next thursday is my 32nd wedding anniversary, dh told me not to worry about it, he was going to make plans to celebrate, he won't say what just that I'll enjoy it.... ;) hey I day of not doing a thing would be nice.. maybe a hot tub in a hotel room somewhere... ummmmmm we'll see....
well, I am off. My little medal  is going down so slowly but I'm hoping at least it'll keep going down...I am still going to curves 3 days a week at 7 am....there is no way I could go after work, I am just to tired... and I will start getting more walking in during work,,, now that we'll start selling etc. I'll be moving around more. I usually lose during these next two months so hopefully with a little more care I'll be able to take advantage of the busyness and lose even more.. course we sweat a lot as it gets pretty darn hot inside....our own personal sauna.
Ok, I am just rambling... I need to get moving..it's so quiet in here, since we're down to the four of us.. we have to keep posting or we'll be swiped off the board completely.
Have a good one Meg, Cathy and Chris. Catcha all later.

I swear I've had nothing but trouble trying to get in and read the message boards - not to mention posting anything!! I have a computer geek friend that I'm going to try to check things out. Maybe I need an upgrade to my Internet Explorer.
Before I forget - beignets are a french donut. They are basically deep fried dough that is drenched in powdered sugar. If you've ever had a funnel cake that's what they taste like.
As for what my job is - I'm a trainer at Lockheed Martin - I train engineers on how to be managers/leaders - a daunting task at best. I also do a lot of career coaching. The job itself can be great but I've had some challenges with crazy co-workers and incompetent bosses over the last few years (of course, it couldn't be me!) Okay - I now have access to Bold and about 6 smilies....this computer is being too weird.
So if I don't post - know that I'm thinking of you and sending you cheers and supportive thoughts. You may have to rely on esp since my computer is sooooo weird!
While I was in New Orleans (figured I better write as long as I can....) I found a poster of a youngish Marilyn Monroe working out with weights. I have it in my "work out room" - that should read - "unfinished section of the basement with storage shelves around the perimeter and the treadmill and weights in the middle" It works - as I've been trying to focus on exercise this wee, she's my inspiration. The first 2 weeks of WW I was just focused on points and water. This week I'm adding in the exercise (and boy do I hurt! I can't find a smilie that looks crippled!)
Have a good week, girls and hopefully, my geek-friend can fix this monster machine!

Awww Poor Meg :grouphug: hope you're feeling better Meg and Happy Belated Birthday :hb:
Chris, it could be a software conflict :dunno: i have a program on my pooter and i have to turn it off otherwise i get lots of gobbledegook when i check in here  the funny thing is that this program is supposed to get rid of files, pop ups and junk to speed things up but it does just the opposite :lol3: could there be anything running on your computer that is doing this? if so, its worth exiting the program and then trying to check in here :crossed: your job sounds very interesting :) i wish i'd have had an interesting career instead of just working for a living
Dahlia, hope things ease off soon.

Good morning ladies,
First of all Happy Belated Birthday Meg. :hat: :hb: :gift: I hope things are going better for you.
Today is my 32nd wedding anniversary and dh told me to pack an overnight bag and that we would be leaving work before noon to go to an undisclosed destination. He is such a sweetie. :lucky:
I see we have lots more cute smilies...
Our newest dgd is about to arrive any day now. I am anxiously awaiting the call so I can go babysit while she goes to the hospital. They only stay in one day now these poor women...and at our hospital after they give birth they have to get up and walk to their rooms...how uncaring that seems... is it really better for them or are the nurses etc. just getting lazier... oh I know they used to be working in the fields and stop, drop the kid and go back to work... but there was also lots of deaths to infants and women at that time....sounds like we are going backwards in some areas.... ok, enough rambling, have to collect some things to take down to work... so I'll catch you all tomorrow.....
Have a good one.

thanks for the birthday wishes. Dahlia - happy wedding anniversary. Hope you have a GREAT weekend, and you are an inspiration to us, being married so long.
well, my show opened last night, and was a HUGE success. the kids totally shined, and the parents loved it. we have 3 more shows - one every night this weekend. my niece is the lead tonight and sunday night, so I can't wait to see her perform tonight. there is a 10 minute ballet in the show that I choreographed, and it turned out beautiful! we use a fog machine, and a veil falls from the rafters - and everything went off without a hitch! I am so proud.
because i was ill, i haven't really been eating. my appetite hasn't come back, which is a good thing i think. hopefully it will translate to a loss!
well, hope you all have a GREAT weekend!

I tried a long post (I swear that should teach me to be so long winded) to you Wednesday night, clicked on preview and lost it all again. No more previewing - you'll have to read through my typos and misspellings! Today it won't put in any smilies or font changes. I have no idea if there's something else on my system that's causing a conflict - there's so much garbage on these computers these days that I never use and don't even know about!!
Yesterday I went in for an echocardiogram and a stress echocardiogram and got fitted with a 24 hour monitor - all because I had a heart scare back in March. Good thing it wasn't too big a scare since it's taken this long to get scheduled for these tests!! I had bronchitis at the time and during a walk with the labsweeties I had what I found out later were classic symptoms of a heart attack - by the way, it turns out women often don't have the pain down the left arm - I didn't have that or really much "pain" at all, so I didn't realize what was going on. Haven't had any symptoms to speak of since the bronchitis went away. I just think my years of asthma and the bronchitis just triggered the episode. Anyway - going through all these tests and I'm sure I'll find out there's nothing wrong.
But last night, I got home from work early, and laid down to take a nap at 4, planning to get up and work out after. I slept until 6 am!!! This heart monitor is going read out pretty boring!! So I worked out this morning to get it to have something on it!!! I'm off work today (have every other Friday off) and as it's SNOWING (Colorado's version of April showers) I'm going to clean out my pantry - get rid of all the old stuff from past attempts at cooking and pick out some recipes to try this weekend. At least sleeping for 14 hours kept me from eating!!!

Hi Ladies,
Dahlia, Happy (belated) Anniversary :D what was the surprise? hope you enjoyed yourselves ;) i'm sure that you did.
Meg, glad the show was such a success :cp:
Chris, you nut  did the workout have an impact on the heart monitor? i'm sure you have nothing to worry about :)
Well, the easter eggs are still going down well  but i should be free of them this weekend :cb: then i can get back on plan, about time too! don't know why i'm in a "can't be bothered" mode :dunno: this usually happens if i'm depressed but i'm not i'm just busy doing stuff around the property and have let things slide :( i'm so sick of reading how well everyone is doing that i've decided to get a piece of the action
Hope you all have a great weekend

Well, Ladies... I have much to tell you... first of all thank you for the anniversary wishes... and it was a great surprise...we left work at noon, stopped out for lunch at a local Big boy,, I had a salad and a bowl of soup... then on north, where we stopped at a casino to play for about 45 minutes... cause we had time as dh hubby put it... then we continued on north.. till we got to a small Inn near a large lake.. well we had been there a few times before to eat, they have good food but I never realized it was actually an inn... so was surprised when he said to wait while he went in for the key... anyway, it is an inn for adults only, for intimate occasions as the brochure says... our room was called New Orleans, we had a full size polynesian spa in our room, a king size water bed, a fireplace with a log to burn......dimmer switches on all the lights, plush carpeting NO PHONES, a small tv tucked under the canopy of the bed which was a huge wooden bed with a MIRROR on the ceiling of the bed/top. Wine glasses were provided, and candle holders.... dinner and breakfast of whatever you wanted... included... it was so romantic... we even dressed for dinner, he told me to take something dressy since we would be having dinner... anyway needless to say I loved it and him.....very much.... then to top it all off, on our way home I called my son to see how our dil was doing and found out he had taken her to the hospital at 6 this morning, the other grandpa was with the kids till I got there... so we went to hospital right away and arrived there just intime to hear our new granddaughter crying.... she had just been born, so I got to hold her almost immediatley,,,, right after daddy did.....she was 4 days early and weighted 9 lbs. 3 oz.. 21 inches long....so I went and spent the rest of the day with the other grandkids, we went to visit mommy and new sister for a little bit, then to the park then to Wendy's for supper and I just got home a little bit ago... it has been a wonderful last couple days.... as for eating... I enjoyed being out yesterday and we ate lavishly.... but I will be back into my routine starting in the morning...
OK. well I am happy and excited.... just wanted to share with you all.
Chris, I hope all your tests come out negative, and Meg, congratulations on the show, glad it was a big success, I bet you feel very good about it.. and you should be very proud, you worked hard on it....
Cathy, just get rid of the eggs.... EAster is over. LOL

Good morning ladies,
Good luck Meg....good luck to all of us. We woke up to snow this morning, but it's suppose to hit a high of 50 today,, then more rain/snow this weekend... sure hope not, not a very good start to May...
For the next two months I will be eating less and not cooking much. I will be putting in 10-12 hr days with customers then have to do the book work in the evening, that don't leave much time to prepare meals. And after all that sleep often wins over food. I usually lose weight at this time.. I just have to try a little harder to make good choices and then keep it off the rest of the year. I am beginning to think that I was just meant to be a chubby little grandma...I have the body shape of all my aunts on my mom's side, never knew any females from my dad's side so can't compare. So maybe its a losing battle to even try to fight it... just have to keep active in order to keep healthy.
Ok, well have a good day all and hope to read more posts later.. I think we've been
left to our own in here.. so us 4 will have to keep it going.

Dahlia - can't believe you had snow! we are in the 50s today, but 70s tomorrow. already done 2 loads of dishes, and the kitchen, bathroom and living room are clean. the den and bedroom look like a war zone - and i am not exaggerating. dining room has all the stuff from the party - clean but not put away. i really want to have it clean when dan gets home tonight. have a few hours to put into it still....
Dahlia, don't give in. any way that you can buy some pre-packaged good foods? fruit is an easy snack, and maybe some low-fat cheese for protein. cooking good food does take alot of time, but maybe you could find some premade meals that could at least keep you maintaining, and then like you said, make a solid effort during the off months. at least being on your feet all those hours is burning calories. i will throw some positive thoughts your way today...
chris and cathy, hope you two are doing well today.

Hi Meg, Dahlia and Chris,
I've had a very busy weekend in the garden winching out scotch broom bushes with hubby and i even got him to remove a humongous gorse bush which was starting to dominate one of the rock walls :( i'm so glad to see the back of that and it took 2 pieces of heavy equipment to do it  an excavator and a winch on a truck  i also got a very good sunburn for my efforts too  i'll make sure that i wear sunscreen this week as the temps will be climbing up to 28* :flow1: I'm a chocolate free zone now and i must confess i had really got into the habit of looking for some for "afters' think i'll have withdrawal symptoms for a while so i'm back to eating FF Choc Pudds  not like the real thing but i'll make do, i really want to see some weightloss now before summer.

Cathy - good for you! I plan to do my gardening this weekend if it is warm enough. Also want to take a bunch of stuff to good will. next week dan is takiing off to fix up a car so we can sell it. it needs some body work and then a paint job. with the proceeds we can pay off ALL our credit cards. Very cool. Good for you in the choc free zone! have you tried sugar free jello with a little light cool whip on top? that is my low carb snack, and it hits the spot after dinner....

Hi, girls -
You can do it, Cathy! Keep focused on losing for summer!
Meg, good to hear things are getting back to normal for you. Bet you're relieved the play is over.
Dahlia - I don't want to hear "I'm meant to be a chubby grandma" !! None of us are meant to be fat! Come on, girl, you can do it. So what if your family is heavy - you can make those different choices.
Only lost a pound at my WW weigh-in this week and I think it's because I've been eating way too many Soy Chips (you can have 25 of the suckers for only 2 points!) but they are very salty. So I'm definitely not having any from Wednesday on and going to drink a river of water to make sure I'm not retaining any water by Saturday! I was home sickly yesterday and though I didn't go over my points, I sure didn't eat healthy and of course, didn't exercise. So it was tough to get on my treadmill today. But I did. I only do a 20 minute routine - but it's a killer that I picked up when I was trying to do "Body for Life"
Tonight I'm going to review some yoga tapes that I've had for probably 2 years and never put in the machine  I can't find some others that I know I've got. I'm really bad about doing yoga - I find it very hard (I'm just a stiff kinda gal) and I like to see results faster. So I think I need to start using a tape instead of just trying to do my own routine. We all have to experiment and find what works, eh?
Take care, girlfriends,
Cris

Dahlia and Cathy, go back into you memory banks for a minute. Do you remember 2 jobs ago when I got my salary cut? this is over a year ago? Then I got the new job in Indiana that I quit 2 months later, and then started waitressing and getting my Real Estate license? I just got a call from that boss this morning.
The woman that replaced me was my old boss 3 jobs ago (are you confused yet?), who now works from home. She just take consulting work, since they couldn't afford anyone full time (why I left). She gave them an estimate, and her work ended up being 2x as much. When my old boss said they couldn't pay her the 2x amount, she said he had a reputation for not paying people, and I WAS THE ONE THAT SAID IT!!!! He called to find out if that was true. I DON'T REMEMBER SAYING THAT! I am very upset, and so is he. I told him I would call and talk to her. What should I say? Honestly, I don't remember saying that, and I don't think it was something I would say. I just remember giving his info to here, and vice versa, and saying that maybe it was a good deal for both of them. Should I call her? I don't want a big confrontation.
This has ruined my morning. Any advice would really help me here. Thanks.

Hi Meg,
We started out at 39 this morning with strong 20-30 mile winds gusting to 40mph this afternoon, at 9:30 we had thunder and hail for about half an hour, now at 5:19 it is 75 degrees out,,, typical Michigan weather, don't it just make you all want to move here...we are opening for retail on Saturday,, and they are calling for possible snow.....it is going to be crappy till next tuesday, so won't be expecting any gardeners to come a shopping...Oh well, that is life...
Meg, since this is upsetting you so much, and the boss from 3 jobs ago. *L*I would call this person, won't call her a lady, and have it out with her. I would ask her why she would say such a thing and then say you said it...even if you did, she should not be repeating it to him of all people... has this woman no class or what? Think about what you will say before you call her, read her the riot act and then let it go, and forget about it....do you have any more contact with this boss/man or her other than the past? If not, then put it behind you, and don't get stressed out. That is my 2 cents worth of advice. If you are like me, you will fuss and fume over this until it is resolved, and the only way to resolve it is to speak to her, get it all out in the open.
OK. well hubby just called he will be home for supper in half an hour so I best get my butt in gear and get those pots and pans rattling... he don't know I just got home from work 10 minutes ago..LOL

Hi Ladies
Meg, I practically lived on diet jello and light coolwhip when i was on WW  i was going to make some today and then forgot about it so i'll make some in the morning :) i also used to put a sponge finger in and fat free vanilla pudding to make a trifle that is about 100 cals and yummy :T
I do remember that job you're talking about but i can't for the life of me think why this man would call you after so long :?: i mean, most men just put it down to *****y women and ignore them but for him to contact you (if he has'nt before) is puzzling me.
I think this woman probably named you because you'd left and she was'nt expecting any repercussions. I'd call her too like Dahlia said but don't say you can't remember saying it, call her bluff and say outright that you did'nt say and why would she say that you did :rollpin: also say how upsetting it has been for you and your ex-boss. BTW, if he has a reputation for not paying and if you were the one that apparently told her then why the heck did she agree to work for him in the first place :nono: if i'd been warned by an employee i think i would have thought twice about it.
Cris, Congrats on the weightloss :bravo:

You guys are the BEST! I have had no contact with him, except when I ran into him about 9 months ago, and we just exchanged "hi's". And you are right, if she had been warned, why even take the job?
I haven't been bold enough to call, because I don't know what to say. My best friend also worked for the company, but left before me. She was floored that he called. Her advice was to let it go, and if I ever run into him and he has the guts to bring it up, to just say I tried to contact her but we never actually got in touch. The odds of me running into him again are very low. And, a year later, would he even remember? I don't like the fact that she is spreading rumors about me though.
Low carbing is going well today. Tonight is stuffed pork chops with broccoli. I have alot of energy - and am feeling really good. When I eat a bagel, or a carb filled meal it really does have an impact on my mood. I always also feel overstuffed.
Dahlia, wind here is at 50 mph. I get nervous about one of those window washing machines on the tall buildings falling again. We had 2 in the last year - one on the Hancock Tower. They are saying that visibility on the roads can suddenly go to 0 becuase of dirt. Pretty scary. I am staying in!
Sorry to hear about the weather there, but hopefully the sun will come out and you guys will sell a bunch!
Cat - that trifle sounds yummy. Where do you get the sponge finger from?
Chris - a pound is a pound. Congrats!!! Keep up the hard work.
Well, off to watch yet another episode of Law and Order. I am a freak!

Good morning ladies,
Meg, I wouldn't worry about that person spreading rumors about you, I get the impression that people will know what she is like and if they know you at all will know you wouldn't say such things, and if they don't then don't worry about it...and like Cathy said, it's hard to believe that man would call you. But if you rarely see him etc. just let it go.. most people consider the source when they hear things like that.
Now I think I'll have to make some jello. :) I love jello and it sounds good. Are you talking about lady fingers?
It's nice out so far, 63 degrees. Meg, I have a son living in Chicago. He is the artist. I just heard that he is having some of his paintings shown at some kind of function to help rape victums. It's a good opportunity for him to get some exposure, no pun intended :), and to help the community at the same time. My youngest son's girlfriend also lives in Chicago. She is attending the Illinois Institute for Art, or something like that... I can never remember it's name.
I don't know how I am doing as my stupid scale is fluctuating so much, even hubby said he weighs more in the morning than he does at night and it's never the same... how do you find a good scale... I'll have to check the one out at Curves tomorrow.. it is usually close to mine so I will see what it says.
I get to train another gal this morning. It took quite a while yesterday with the other two. They didn't realize how much paper work is involved. But now at least I should be able to get a day or two off once in a while.
Ok, enough for now. Have a great day all of you. Will check in this evening.

Hello Everyone,
Haven't been around in a while, I was just reading and not posting then for the last month haven't even been doing that. Haven't been doing so well eating wise, need to get back on the wagon, but just can't seem to find the ambition.... Maybe coming back here is the first step. I found my way back to the fold, and I am sorry to be gone so long. Lots of junk going on in my life, but hey, that's why it's called "life," right?! Makes you appreciate the good times -- Ok, let 'em roll, now! :D
Chris, Cathy emailed me a few days ago (thank you, girlfriend) and told me you were back -- great to "see" you again! You have breezed through my mind many times whenever I thought back on the beginning days of this thread. I cannot even remember how many years ago that was -- more than 4 maybe??
Dahlia, I also joined Curves last week and I love it. The scale was down 3 lbs so it was a good decision on my part. I changed my weigh-in day to Saturday so I wouldn't blow it on Friday nights.
Meg, Tech (nice to have you back too!), Cathy ... have a great weekend ... I hope it's as beautiful in your neck of the woods as it is here in Connecticut.
Hmm, perhaps I'll print out the thread so that I can catch up on all your news.

Hi Ladies- long time no see. I've had computer problems and just life in the way I guess. We are expecting baby #4!! I am due the endish of Sept- I'm just about half way done. So diet and weightloss just haven't been forefront on my mind the last several weeks (but I can't wait until I can focus on that- I NEED to badly!!!) So the ultrasound said girl...but I'm still having my doubts. It will be fun to do something different after 3 boys, but I would still be happy with all boys too. Anyway, so that's whats up with me!! I know its crazy to be doing this again so soon, but we knew we wanted 4 and I just got anxious to get the show on the road so to speak! lol
Hope you are all doing well! I have some catching up to do!

Hi, girlfriends,
Weighed in again today and was down another pound. That's nine since rejoining WW a month ago. At this rate I'll actually accomplish my first "10 Pounds at a Time" !! I don't think I lost 10 pounds the whole time I was posting before! That's a learning for me - I definitely need the discipline of a program and going to weigh ins. It's just too easy for me to lose my focus on my own.
I've also been trying to see this as a learning process - learning what works as far as an execise routine, learning what works best regarding WHAT I eat and learning to try lots of new recipes so that I don't get bored.
I'd been trying to exercise after work and it just wasn't working. I don't know why but for some reason it is just physically harder to do the treadmill after work. So this week I'm going to try splitting up the exercise - treadmill in the morning so I still have time to journal. Then weights or yoga and meditating when I get home from work. I'm just going to keep experimenting til I find the right combination.
So, girlfriends - the theme for this week - Try something Different!!

Good morning ladies,
Welcome back Jelynn and Terry. :coffee: Congratulations Emily on baby #4. I just had grandbaby #4 last Friday. She weighed 9 lbs. 3 oz...I know what you mean about not believing the ultrasound.. it sounds to good to be true after 3 boys to be having a girl... you are lucky, I had 5 boys, never got to hear those lovely words, it's a girl....:( but I am now blessed with two beautiful granddaughters, and I love them both to pieces. course I love my two grandsons too, but so far have a special bond with gd 1 and hope to with gd2 also.
I have been up since 6, had my shower and breakfast, did some laundry, did up our dishes, picked up the house, with no one being home that takes very little time  went to town and bought some supplies for work, came home and organized and cleaned off my desk, I bought a new small 3 drawer plastic box, whatever they are called  I don't open till noon so I still have about an hour to do something. I have to print out some more order forms so I'll do that in a minute. It is only 37 degrees out but the sun is shining so I am sure I will have customers. Surprisingly enough, yesterday was a good business day. Even though it was rather cool and rainy people came in, planning to just look but most of them ended up buying too. It was a good start.
What is everyone up to today?
Terry, congrats on joining curves. It is fun isn't it? How many machines does your curves have? We have 13. When I first joined I lost 5 pounds the first month and within the first two I lost 12 inches... now I am still plateauing with the weight. I go faithfully 3 times a week at 7 am before work. By the end of the day I am whipped and would never be up to going.
There is a nice bunch of women there, many I already knew and meet new ones quite often.
Ok. well hope you continue to post often, I won't be posting to much till after the 4th of July but I will be reading as often as I can.
Keep up the good work and catch ya all later.

Morning!
Dahlia, congratulations on the birth of a new granddaughter!! You did great at Curves too. I love it -- it doesn't even seem a chore to get there either. I used to push myself to go to the gym when I belonged a few years ago, but I actually look forward to this. We have 12 machines and everyone is very friendly. All shapes and sizes and ages so I am very comfortable there as well. It wasn't even as expensive as I thought it was going to be which was as added bonus.
Cris, kudos on the weight loss as well! Amazing how it comes off when you set your mind to succeeding :) .
Drizzly and humid this morning. Russ and I went to early morning Mass and then out for coffee. Heading back to bed with the newspapers and he is off to work. Lazy Sunday.
Dahlia, hope you have a good sales day today :) .
And, everyone, think thin and healthy and have a wonderful Sunday!
Always,
Terry

Splitting headache so this will be short :headache: ....
I managed a good workout at Curves this afternoon and did well on the food front too :). Cathy, I agree, since when do you NEED an incentive to spend money?? :D
I'll keep my fingers crossed about the job -- any idea when you will hear??
Dahlia, hope you are selling, selling, selling!
Howdy everyone else -- Cris, Emily, Meg, Tech -- hope y'all have a great night and see you all in the AM.

Wow! Lots of posting and lots of good news!
Emily - congrats! I hope the ultrasound is true!
Dahlia - Congrats to you as well!
Cris - just a short time till your 10 pounds - that is GREAT!
Terry - SO GLAD YOU ARE BACK!
Well, Dan is off from work this week. My real 35th bday was yesterday, and he gave me a really nice digital camera. We went to a nice steak house, and we had raw oysters, shrimp dejonge, filet mignon, sauteed mushrooms, baked potatoes, and sherbet for dessert. I was really good and ate very small portions. I cut everything in half before I ate it - even ate just one scoop of the ice cream. I also took a few tips from Dr. Phil, by taking a really long time to eat, chewing more, putting my fork down in between bites, etc. It really helped.
I am down 1 pound - to 185.5. I still don't really have my appetite back from being sick, which I think is helping greatly.
Dan bought his dream car on Ebay, so he is going to CA to pick it up on Thursday (without me :( ). Still haven't heard about my new job. Hopefully it will start soon!
Talk to you all later!

Afternoon!
Happy Belated Birthday, Meg!! Wow, what a nice birthday you had and great job on the meal. That's something that is very hard for me to do as portion sizes are a huge problem with me.
Cathy -- fingers crossed for you tomorrow -- I'll have to keep checking the thread to see if all our good vibes worked and they hired you. I hope you hear tomorrow anyway!
I went to Curves again today mostly because I needed to work off some stress, and I am happy to report that it worked. I really do enjoy it. Not the stress :D .

Hi just a quick post here before I head off to bed.
Cathy, what is the new job? And good luck with your interview,, hope it works out well for you.
Terry, which of the machines do you like the best? I like the stomach crunch and the one that you stand on and pull the bar up to your chest.. not sure what it is called. I don't care for the one you put on your shoulders and squat down with.. otherwise I like them all fine. I enjoy the spring boards too.. it is funny to see so many ways people use them. and the music is sure perky... some of the gals in the morning are so funny, the other day it seemed everyone was so talkative.. there were 3-4 conversations going on at a time.. some days everyone is quiet and just does their thing....
Well, catch ya all later... it was a mixed bag of weather again today, cold rainy and windy... so not many customers for retail but we had a lot going out for deliveries for wholesale so were still busy... tomorrow I almost get a day off. I have to be around but not constantly so I am going to try to get some house work done and I have to go help my mil for a bit... Thursday I am taking the day off and going to town and to spend time with my new dgd and her siblings...might take them to the park, the older ones that is.. if it's nice.
Good night all

Good morning, guys. Anyone interested in a Memorial Day challenge? Maybe we could each pick one thing to work on - to incorporate to help us change our habits. I always feel if I take on alot that I don't get any of it done. Things like drinking enough water, making sure we exercise, watching our portions, etc.
I need to start exercising again, so I think that will be my challenge. To get to the gym 3 days a week to start, for 30 minutes minimum. Anyone care to join me?
Dahlia

Hi Megg,
I already go faithfully to Curves 3 times a week, but I could use help drinking enough water.. that will be my challenge to drink more water as a habit. I also need to do better portion control... I get so hungry.....I read somewhere that if you are always hungry its a sign of sugar or a thyroid problem.. but I check out ok on both of those.. so anybody else got any ideas...more fiber? I am open for suggestions.. I am not gaining but I am not losing either... I need a jump start... I took a walk today after I got back from curves, and I walk alot at work..
So count me in Meg... I usually do lousy at challenges cause I try to do to much like you said.. so maybe this will help.. one step at a time..
got to go back to work.. catch ya all this evening.

Hi Ladies,
Well i got the job :cb: and she wants me to go in on friday morning to have my mugshot taken to wear on a badge, watch an induction video and do neccessary paperwork etc. you'd think they'd do that in work time would'nt you? not in personal time :( oh well i don't mind  the only thing i was'nt keen on was that she said maybe i should start an hour earlier on my first day to make sure that everything is done in time before the store opens at 9 so that means a 5am start instead of 6 :yikes: Dahlia, i'm doing stock in the Pharmacy at the superstore and changing prices etc.
Have you tried eating more protein Dahlia, i've been eating more this week and i have'nt been hungry once and i've eaten less than 1000cals for the last 3 days :cb:
Meg, yeh i'll take the challenge i need to start doing some exercise too. I could do to drink some water as well cos i don't get much of that  but i'll start with the exercise first ;)

Congrats on the new job Cathy, and I agree everything you are doing the first day should be done when you get to work... after all it's all part of getting started. I can understand the going in early part to be done with it all by the time the place opens up, but you should be on the clock from when you get there. Hope you like working there. Superstore do you mean like Wal-mart?
I am actually taking the whole day off today. Yesterday I ended up working 3/4 th of the day. Today I have all 3 gals scheduled, so they ought to be able to handle whatever comes up. I have a lot of things to do today so they will just have to. Both my hubby and I will be gone. So we'll see how they all do. It's like we are leaving our baby with a sitter LOL,, Terry you'll understand what I mean.
Cathy, actually I've been eating less protein. Maybe you're right, I'll give it a try.
Well, I'll catch you all later. Have a good one.

Hello all,
Well I actually weighed in on Monday and I weigh the same as I did last month when I stopped paying attention :D . Trust me the way I've been this is a good thing. I've been tracking all my eating this week and so far so good, I've been pretty close to my goal. We even took the dogs for a walk last night, which is unusuall after I'm on my feet all day at work. But it certainly felt good when we were done .
Cathy - congrats on the new job. Hope you enjoy it. 1000 cal  I'm pretty happy if I stay below 1700, but I probably weigh more than you :o
Dahlia - Your business must be really up and down with the weather this time of year, but they're saying the 'warm' weather should stick around now, at least on this side of the state.
Meg - I'll join your challenge, I want to get in 2L of water a day, I haven't been doing very well at that lately :(. PS happy belated b-day, and how's your new job going?
Terry - yea on joining Curves and going even when you don't feel like it. I've been thinking of checking it out, but no $. Maybe I'll see how much it really costs.
Have a great day everyone.

Hi Ladies,
Where is Terry again? :( and Cris :rollpin:
Tech, Congrats on maintaining :cp: i usually eat way more calories than that, i don't know if its the protein or the weather thats keeping me on the straight and narrow and my calorie intake so low :cp: i've never ever been able to eat so little and be satisfied. Mind you, i have'nt had any beers :yikes: now thats where i'm saving my cals :lol3:
Dahlia, i'm supposed to start work at 6am those are the hours that she gave me. She wants me to go in at 5am because i'm new and she's training me and she thinks that i won't get done in time but she does'nt know me..YET   i will be on the clock for that but i won't tomorrow when i go in to watch the video and fill in all the paperwork..that couple of hours is out of my own time
I've got to go out and buy some black pants and maybe some steel toed boots today  have'nt even started yet and its costing me money! I thought i'd be able to wear anything i wanted but :nono: you have to wear black trousers and supply them yourself. I can borrow some boots but i don't fancy wearing boots that someone else has worn so i'll buy some. The boots are required for the days that we are lifting heavy boxes, i won't have to wear them all the time.
I think i'll hop on my treadmill for half an hour :dunno: i've gotta start somewhere

Cathy - Congrats on the new job! It does suck that you have to buy pants and boots. At least at my waitressing job we got the first shirt and apron for free. For my real estate job I had to buy all new suits. Very expensive.
Tech - congrats on maintaining!!
Dahlia, I hope that you had a great day off!
Well, Dan left for Reno to pick up the new car today. I am tired from driving him to the airport early this morning. I came home and napped big time. I did get my exercise today - doing a 40 minute walk. Granted it was to and from the store, but I did it!
Tonight I am having dinner with my brother. Hope you all have a good night!

That 2 hours turned into 4.5 :yikes: and i did so much paperwork that my hand was aching when i'd finished doing the tests and filling in tax forms etc  i was starving when i got home so had my dinner straight away  i wore a black legging type pants to go in with a denim shirt and i asked the supervisor if it was suitable attire and she said "yes, but tuck your shirt in when you start work because they are very strict and will fine you $50" !!!!!! :censored: can you imagine that sight? a shirt tucked into leggings :( eeeewwwww! it would be all bunched up and look terrible and i hate showing my bum anyway :( so i went and bought 2 pairs of proper black trousers which look a lot better :D
I walked 3mls yesterday :cb: did'nt have time today and i'm too tired now i just want to veg in front of the telly  will do some tomorrow ;) i weighed when i got home and i'm down 4.5lbs  so i'm very happy with that :D

cat90
05-08-2004, 01:33 PM
Yep it is Meg :D 4.5lbs down since Monday :cb: i need to keep motivated now and keep the downward spiral happening :) I found one pair of pants with a broken zip for $5 so i bought them and i'm just changing the zipper now ;) both pairs are very comfortable as they are a cotton/spandex mix, good for bending down to the bottom shelves :o ;) I could'nt believe the $50 fine either :yikes: and i would'nt have known if i had'nt asked her about what i was wearing! I had every intention of going tomorrow with my shirt hanging out  and if i'd been fined i would probably have walked out on the spot! Another thing you have to do is if you buy something to eat on your break you have to keep the receipt in case you are asked to produce it! They're not a very trusting bunch are they? :lol3: I'll let you know how it goes, i'm still looking forward to it ;)

You know .... I think my computer has poltergeists as I just lost my post for no reason at all :yikes:! I also lost my internet there for a few days; hence, my absence. I no sooner got back online and then I couldn't get into 3FC as it didn't recognize my password. Now, I pretty much use the same password for everything .... weird, weird and triple weird :rollpin: !
Cathy, I am so happy for you -- down almost 5 lbs???!! Yahoo! :) See, I have always said, when you stick your mind to it, you do it. Excellent!
Tech, one question, why was your DH running over cones in the parking lot?? Forgive me if you already answered that and I missed it. :dizzy: .
Count me in as one who does not have a hubby who cooks well enough -- like, Cathy's, he keeps the restaurant economy moving right along too.
I already did 45 minutes at Curves this morning (1.5 circuits) and was down 1.5 lbs last week. Every bit helps!
Today I am home as I need to do mega grocery shopping plus the usual Monday Morning Decluttering. I didn't do very well wth food over the weekend -- even had a ice cream cone yesterday but it was Mother's Day, right?!
It's a beautiful day and the temps will be near 90 by the end of the week -- maybe I need to break out the deck furniture. Not on today's agenda though -- maybe tomorrow!
Time to rock and rool .... keep thinking positive because WE WILL reach our goals if we do.

Hello all,
I'm pretty excited I lost 1 lb last week :sunny:. I haven't been doing too well on my Memorial Day challenge, although I am up to 1-1.5 L of water, which is better than I was. I think it's the second of my challenges not eating after dinner that is what helped me out a lot. I'm a horrible tired/bored muncher, and I've been trying to cut back on that, if I'm not hungry after dinner I'm just not going to eat :D.
My dad is a pretty good cook, in fact he and my BIL do most of the cooking over there because my sister and mom are ok if you give them a detailed recipe  Dad made "beer-but-chicken" and grilled potoatos, and I brought a salad. My DH isn't too bad a cook, we usually switch on and off, he started off needing that recipe, but the more he cooks the more relaxed he gets.
Terry - Congrats on the 1.5 lbs :bravo:. DH was running an auto-cross, where they follow a course around a parking lot that's lined with cones. He actually didn't make it home, I drove out to my folks myself and he met me there.
Have a great day all :D.

All right Tech!! Kudos on the pound gone -- every pound is hard work and a symbol of your motivation and preserverance. I also congratulate you on the munching after meals. Sometimes I find myself eating and don't even realize that I put it in my mouth. Keep up the good work!! Thanks for the explanation of the parking lot cones -- sounded like he was learning to drive :).
Went to Curves again this morning and now I am relishing my first cup of coffee even though it's noon -- late start today. But I gotta have that coffee!!!! I am having a hard time keeping my heart rate in the target zone -- I keep having to slow down. They say if you go above the target, you are just burning sugar rather than fat.
