WEDNESDAY: Today is Wednesday's woes. What is troubling you?

I would say the 3 chicks are the ones with the big woes! We are so sorry this happened to you girls! We are just fine back where we were, aren't we girls!

We are up and going again so let's hear from you today. I about to go down and drink my smoothie and get dressed to go out into ALASKA today and walk. If only the lbs would freeze and just fall off!

Have a good day girls and I will check in later.

My Weds woes is that I have a migraine. It started mildly last night and I quickly went to bed, hoping to sleep it off. No such luck... woke up with the same headache this morning. Some meds have helped and I am about 50% functional right now.

I guess what happened to 3FC is a huge woe..I hope everything is running smoothly very soon!

All 4 pts yesterday for me.

I am not going out today unless I absolutely have to. Its only 13 degrees with a windchill of 0. One of the things I dislike about Ohio, is it gets soooooooo cold in Jan and Feb!

Hope everyone has a great day :)

Lisa asked that I let everyone know she may not be able to post here any longer. It is only that her company was sold and she said the new owner starts tomorrow and since she posts from work, she may not be able to get here anymore. She is not sure she will even have a job after tomorrow so keep her and her family in your prayers.

I will post pts when we have a few more. I got a 4 again yesterday, woohoo.

Debbie: It is freezing here too, which is really rare, but I am going to try and get out there in just a litte while and walk at least a mile. Hope your headache gets better. They sure are dibilitating and YOU certainly have no business being out in the cold with a migraine. Just take it easy today!

Back later ladies!

Hi Ladies

I was really worried when I read about the big crash - I'm just glad that we are still here!

I've been doing okay - although I haven't started exercising yet. Nigel moved my exercise bike into the cellar so we could put the Christmas tree up, and now I've got to badger him to bring it back up! My eating is okay though - I'm just getting used to 'normal' eating again, after my Christmas overeating!

I've heard from 2 of the interviews that I had in Ireland - Rejections from Limerick and Galway. Galway was the one I wanted the most and I came away from it thinking I'd done really well - but they obviously didn't think so. I'm really gutted - I've got to ring them for feedback, which I keep putting off! There are still 2 jobs that I haven't heard from, although 1 is only temporary - I'm feeling really anxious waiting to hear, but I'm not feeling confident - I think that if they wanted to offer me a job then they wouldn't be taking this long!. I contacted one of them and they said that letters were going out at the end of this week - in my experience they send rejection letters and phone if you are successful. It's eating me up inside all this waiting!

Perhaps I should stop sitting around worrying about someting I can't do anything about, and get my butt down that gym (I hear you say Faye!! )

Sorry to hear about Lisa's work problems - hope she doesn't have to leave us.

See you later

Hello Everyone,

I can finally post. I tried earlier and it wouldn't let me. I think I signed up on Nov 20th or a couple of days after that. Hopefully they will get everything worked out. What a mess for everyone.

I get 2 points for yesterday. I didn't have a great day.

I am going to go to the gym soon and get myself in a better mood. Good moods never seem to last as long as bad ones for me lol.

Hope all is well.

Hello All

4 points for Monday and Tuesday! So nice to be able to say that again, and I am very ready to see the numbers on the scale dropping again.

Class has been canceled yesterday and today because of snow and ice. This NEVER happens! This is one crazy winter. But I braved the ice the last 2 days and made it to the gym. I'm takinf it kinda easy for now. I'm just not where I was before Christmas.

My Wednesday Woe is a social problem. Remember that guy I was talking about before Christmas, the one I hung out all evening with at a party and then chatted with for a few hours a couple days later...Well silly me can't get him out of my head and I don't know what to do because I haven't seen him in almost 4 weeks and don't know if I ever will again. Its just ... grrrr.

I have a friend down here that wants to loose weight, I think more for vanity than health, but I've become his :coach: which keeps me even more on track.

Amanda, hoping things work out for you

Glad to see all of you again, and I'm praying for Lisa and that her situation stableizes .... and can make it back here!

Beth: We all have bad days and you did get some points so don't let it stress you out!

Amanda: As for this job search thing. Whew, I know how that feels. I have probably applied for about 100 now and only got one letter and I never have gotten a first interview. Don't know if I am overqualified or what! You hang in there and you will find that God will provie you with what HE wants. Pray about it kiddo and keep faith and patience. That is what we did when we moved down here was a lot of patience waiting for Jack to find a job. It took 6 months but the right one came along. You will get back up on the horse and start galloping away, I just know it so we are waiting for you !

SandyB: You are doing great! Keep up the good work.

Talk to you later ladies, I have some things I need to do!

ZOIKS WHAT A MESS!!!

This poor site looks like it was hit by a TRUCK!

Boy I missed you gals yesterday!!! 4 points for Monday, and 3 for yesterday. I stayed online surfing all day, hoping this site would come back up and it never did. So, I didn't exercise. But I do have class tonight, so should be a 4 pointer today.

Welcome Cathy (you are new here, right? With all this site explosion stuff, it's hard to tell : ) )

Amanda, just because you don't get a certain job does NOT mean you didn't have a good interview. There could be many reasons they didn't choose you. Please don't beat yourself up over stuff you can't control, because it will effect how you perform on your next interview. Keep thinking positive! Things will work out.

It's really cold here, too......though after the 8 weeks of -30 last winter, I'm sooooo not complaining. This is the first day all winter that we'll hit 0.

Well, best be going. Got lesson plans to do.

Julie

Not much to add. It is chilly here, for us, only 60 today and that always gives me the blues. I have planned to move north for graduate school but I don't know how I think I will ever do that lol. I can't stand the cold.

Welcome Cathy - FYI for all, she and I talked yesterday on chat and I invited her to come over here and join us. It's good to see you. You will find lots of support here.

Today hasn't been a great day either but I plan on making tomorrow a FANTASTIC day.

I'm sure glad the site is working and I can post again. I am hooked, can't live without it now. I chatted too long yesterday as well and didn't get everything done I needed to! Chat is bad, exercise is good lol lol.

Tomorrow is going to be a 4 point day. :s:

Well this is kind of strange that no one has posted yet today and here it is 1:30 in the afternoon.

Hope all are well. Yesterday I get 2 points. Today is a better day. I am out the door in a minute and to the gym.

I have another goal this year and I think after all is said and done it is the hardest one I am making. I have got to stop giving others and events control of my emotions. I have to take responsibility for them and not let others actions or inaction decide if I am happy or sad or have a bad day or a good one. I have always done that.

I keep a journal on another website and had been thinking lately that if the site went out of business or for some reason my entries were lost I wouldn't have a copy of my posts. I have been posting daily. I had thought about starting to post my journal here, before the crash. After that I did what I had been thinking about and printed out all of my entries. I plan to continue to do that no matter where I post my journal. I would hate to lose them even though they aren't all that interesting.

Well until later,

Beth :)

Good afternoon all--

I guess the site's been down all day for repairs. This is the first time I've been able to get on the boards since this morning!

4 points for yesterday. Had a really good day. I think today is going well, too....my stomach must finally be shrinking back down from the holidays because normally at this time of the day I want to snack like crazy. Today I just don't feel hungry. Hooray! It could also be that I'm drinking an extra 32 oz. of water for the past couple of days. I was drinking 2 bottles (64 oz.) and now I'm trying to always get in a 3rd (96 oz.) Plus a little green tea here and there when I'm cold.

Beth, it's a balmy 2 degrees here right now! When I took the kids to school this morning it was -10 (without the wind chill).
It's a beautiful sunny day, but I don't want to do anything because it's so cold! Just want to curl up in front of the wood stove and read. But, gotta get in at least another 10 minutes of exercise to make today a 4 pointer.

You're so right Beth about YOU being in charge of what kind of mood you're in and if you have a "good or bad" day! Good for you for realizing that!

Well, hope to see everyone on here soon. This waiting till the afternoon to post is totally throwing off my whole day!

TTFN,
Julie

WAHHOOO we can post again. It is such a mess that I am not going to post smileys or topic for today but I will pick it back up tomorrow. For those of you with points of ANY kind! GREAT JOB!!!

Some of you gals, I don't have your e-mail addresses so I couldn't send you an e-mail about this mess this morning. I started an account for us with myfamily.com so we could post and some of the girls posted there this morning.

I know you may feel uncomfortable, but if not, send me your e-mail address and I will put you on my list so that when something happens again, we can be in contact. I will also send you an "invitaion" to the myfamily site. It has a chat that we can have and all can use it, though when I posted with another group over a year ago and used it, it would bounce me out each time so I don't know if I will be able to chat. I don't have Beth, Julie, Amanda, the new lady Cathy, the new lady Donna though I haven't seen her since the first crash and hope she can get back on. Here is an e-mail address that I use for my website and you can send it there, then I will respond to you with my AOL address so that you have it. It is my main one and I don't want any NUTTERS getting it from the site. www.mysweetgrandson@hotmail.com

Welcome to you Cathy! It is great to have you. Please participate in any or all of what we have to offer here, points, our 1st quarter challenge, the daily topic, etc. The info for them is always the very first post of the thread.

I am going to e-mail everyone to let them know we are back up!

Later, Faye BTW: Cathy if you want to participate in the 1st quarter challenge, I need you to give me your starting weight. You can e-mail it to me if you like (you aren't eligible for the gift until the second quarter though) and Debbie, I need your weight as well if you are joining in the challenge. Last but not least, Pam we don't have your iron monster amount yet either!

I am going to cut and paste what everyone posted this morning on the myfamily site.

Hey everyone! Hope you found it ok! I know this isn't the best solution, but it was all I could come up with. Maybe they will be back on line soon. (me)

I found it! I hope the 3 Chicks get their wonderful site up and running again. In the meantime 2 points for yesterday. Housecleaning tonight. I drive my ds nuts, I turn on the music and sing and dance my way through vacuuming, dusting, floor washing etc.... He thinks I have lost it---then I make him help me! He is such a good kid. Have a great day!
Judy

I love to clean to music. You can bebop around and get something done you don't particularly want to do. I am a music freak though so I am always listening to music, singing etc. Yeah for you on the points. I hope they get it up and running soon too, this is not exactly the best way to post! lol (me)

Yeah... hey at least we have a way to communicate with each other...LOL!! No points for exercise yesterday but everything else... was just too pooped out to exercise...lol i hope u all have a great day... i lvoe u all and remember to take care of U!
Sandy

I got 4 points today and am staying on track! Woohoo. I am also having smoothies for breakfast to get in all my fruit for the day and boy was the one I made today good. I will post it in the recipe section for you to try. It was yummy and filling too! (me)

There you go! You are now up to date with this morning's conversations!

Hello Hello

What a roller coaster this site has been on!

I get 4 points for yesterday :)

If anyone got to read my post Wednesday, part of it was about this young fellow I've developed a fancy for. I came across an e-mail address and am working up the courage to drop him a line. I've always been scared of such things which is even more reason why I should. Whatever happens I will have overcome my fear. And sometimes its good to do such things even if you expect a negative answer just for.... character building...or practice even...right?

Classes are back on after having been canceled for 2 days...unprecedented at this university. The ice is finally melting.

Beth – I often find myself in similar situations tying up my emotions in things I shouldn’t. For me the problem is interactions with people. Its something I’m slowly working on.

Hi Ladies,

What are the pts for? diet, exercise, water and ? or am i totally off track? and what is the challenge? and what is the gift? :s: must admit i'm in a few of them at the moment

So far so good today :) done some exercise but want to do more, hopefully i'll get on the treadmill in a while then i've got lots of cleaning to do..i might even try dancing around

beth_on_the_beach

Cathy - If you look at the first post on page one of this thread it gives you all the info but the points go as follows:

on plan 2 points
water 1 point
exercise 1 point

The challenge is for the first quarter of the year, Jan 1 - April 30th or May 1st...I'm not sure which. It is to see who loses the most weight. I also am not sure what the gift is. Only those that were part of the group at the start of the challenge can win the prize but you can still enter. Also if your here for the next challenge you can enter to win then.

I just got back from the gym. I am adding more cardio to my work outs. I enjoy weight lifting so much that I realized I had really cut back on cardio and was spending all of my time on that so I am trying to make a better balance.

Julie - It was a beautiful 70 here today and sunny. I guess I should stop complaining lol.

Faye - I sent you my email. Let me know if you don't get it.

Suczin - I have always been of the old fashioned mind that if someone is interested in you they will let you know it. However I have learned that there are a lot of men out there just as nervous to approach women as we are to approach them. I have also found that showing too much interest makes you look needy ( a problem I have) and being confident and busy and having a life makes you so much more alluring. I have a feeling your character is fine and doesn't need building.

Have a good one everybody!

Beth :D

I finally, got back here . I had to re- register, I got to keep my user name, but still had to go thru the whole process again, i sure am glad i found my way back here.
I decided to start counting calories instead of the lo-carb diet.
I have been op and drank my water so i get 3 points every this week, got to add the exercise.
Faye, post that recipe would love to try your smoothies.
Faye I will email you my email address and also let you know where I am from oklahoma city.
Beth , that is something I am also going to try to do this year is try to be acountable for my own actions and also the way I am feeling, unstead of letting people control how feel: I usually try to blame other people for how I feel. And i know that IAM the only one who can decide how I feel today. I can only be sad or unhappy if i chose to be that way.
This year I am going to chose to be HAPPY!!!
Every morning I am going to make a conscious effort to have a good day no matter what any one else has to say about it.
So why don't you join me? Let's start having HAPPY DAYS instead of glooming ones.

Happy Days to everyone,
Donna

Can't believe I forgot - A very warm welcome to Cathy!

Beth - thanks for the advice. Only problem is, I don't know when or if ever I will see this fellow again, so I just thought I'd drop a casual e-mail along the lines of "hey, I had fun hanging out with you, we should do it again sometime". I know what you mean by seeming too pushy, and I'm trying to avoid that. If I had the opportunity to let it build on its own...we had a class together this term, or something like that I would. Alas.

Boy it is really quiet then bang everyone posts!

Here goes: Dorothy, Beth, Donna I have stored your e-mails. I will send you an invite to join myfamily so you can use it and use the chat when we have chat night.

Cathy: Yes, as Beth said, points are 2 program, 1 water, 1 exercise and I give smileys out daily when you post what your points were for the previous day, except for Amanda who totally screws me up because she is in the UK! As for the Challenge, Everyone sent me their weight as of Jan 1 and as of May 1 you then send me what you weigh on that date. On May first after I have everyone's weight, the person who has lost the most lbs wins a $30 Visa gift card. Now, like I said, you are not eligible for the first challenge gift because you have to be a member of the thread for 1 whole quarter. The reason was that I could see a bunch of people joining just to try and get the prize and then drop out. That is not why I did this. I want to give everyone an real incentive to lose those lbs. You will be eligible for 2nd quarter though and like I said, if you give me your weight I will put it on the spreadsheet I have of everybody and we can keep track of how much you lose each quarter if you want to be part of it. Since you are part of several groups, you join in where you want here and sit out where you feel you don't want to or don't have time or whatever.

Donna: You are going to do this sweety. We are all in this together and we are going to get these lbs off once and for all. the recipe is really easy and really yummy. It is 1 up fresh or canned pineapple with about 1/2 can of juice if you use canned, 1 cup oj of your choice, 1 cup fresh or bottled mango slices, 1 tablespoon powdered sugar and about 4 ice cubes (more if you want it slushy). Blend in a blender until foamy and everything is purreed. If you go to http://www.recipesource.com/side-dishes/beverages/smoothies/cantaloupe-smoothie1.html there are a BUNCH of smoothie recipes of every conceivable kind. You can ask the girls and they will tell you that my #1 priority is to make weight loss FUN! Part of having fun is happiness and you can be happy doing this. You can't be unhappy when you are improving your health, your lifestyle and your body image. Happiness is a state of mind only and I am a firm believer that we can't always be happy, we need sadness to come into our lives to appreciate things and to make happiness truly something special, but when you are happy, your body reacts positively and that is the goal we want!

Susan: Nothing VENTURED nothing gained so go for it. I don't think it is pushy at all to tell him you had a great time hanging out with him. If you don't say anything, he won't know will he and if he is interested he will contact you again. Being the beautiful woman you are, I am sure he will get right with you!

Beth: Yeah, you don't want a lean body and a fat heart! Gotta balance both. I have a funny story to tell you about that. I never do anything half way and so I have been spending time doing strength training everyday with cords. I walk for cardio and then do 20 reps of each upper body exercise. I was sitting with Jack tonight watching Oprah and doing my reps and the darn cord broke and I about killed myself. I guess I worked it too hard and it just gave out, but man that was like getting smacked with a Green Giant rubber band!

Well my sweet ones, you all have a good night! I am going to go to the myfamily site and send those of you who don't have an invite yet and have sent me an e-mail address your invite to join.

Faye

A Cheery 15 below zero morning to you all!

Dear Gawd, it's cold outside! It's the kind of cold where you have to wear sunglasses to go out because if you don't, your eyeball slime literally freezes. And when you breathe in, your snot freezes......breathe out, unfreezes......freeze, unfreeze, freeze, unfreeze.........EEEWWWWWWW

Anyway, at least it's sunny. I got 3 points for yesterday. I probably could have counted my wood carrying and a little "dancing around" as my exercise, but it really wasn't enough...know what I mean? I got up early to exercise this morning, and when I went out to the garage to turn the heater on.....the fuel was frozen. INSIDE the house!!! So, I spent the early hours this morning trying to fix that. I have the heat inside the house cranked up to 80 with the door to the garage open, but it still isn't warm enough out there for the furnace to work. So, I guess I have to go out later and get a new propane tank for the portable heater. Hey, at least there's no frozen pipes to deal with! That is the BIGGEST pain in the arse!!!!

Well, there's a reason we say "If you can't take the winter, you don't deserve the summer!" And I do love the Maine summers. Actually, I love the Maine winters too....just could do without the extra hassles. On the bright side, I probably burned a couple hundred calories just trying to stay warm while pumping gas this morning.

I'm fairly certain I'm losing weight again.....YEAH! I'm back to writing everything down and really watching the calories. But it's TOM for me right now, so I'll weigh on Mon. or Tues. and hopefully there will be some good news. I really need to see some progress!

Gotta run, now. Everybody stay :strong: and motivated today and all weekend!

Hugs,
Julie

Good Morning Everybody! Happy Friday!!
Got all 4 pts for yesterday. Heavy duty cleaning, moving furniture and all, plus several trips up and down the stairs for laundry and groceries count for my exercise. My knees are not happy with me this morning.

Jeff, the boyfriend that dumped me New Year's Eve, has come back. He called, we talked, he told me he made a huge mistake letting me go, we straightened out the responsibility issue, he said his days weren't the same without me in them (melt) and we are going to give it another try. I feel good about it, so cross your fingers for me!

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Judy: I am glad you worked things out. I would be cautious though as he sounds like he needs to grow up some. Don't want to rain on your parade though, so I AM glad you are happy about it.

Julie: Woo, sounds like you are deep freezing. I thought I was cold with 30+ degree weather. I am going in just a little while after I take a shower to walk and go to the Walmart Neighborhood market for some nanners, some puppy pads and see if I can find something different for lunch.

SandyB: I think that is an excellent idea if everyone agrees!

**I need some input on what SandyB said about the gift. Let me know by e-mail, by post or by pm what you think of the winner being responsible for the next quarter gift and BTW, for someone who would be responsible and runs into a financial jam and can't I will always purchase the gift in that case.**

GOT MY HOUSE ALL CLEANED! :cb: :cb: I want to go and see Calendar Girls tonight. I know Jack is gonna hate it, but HE wants to go so.......

Well, girlies, I need to get a shower and get the walk in before it rains if it is gonna do that again today!

Faye:)

Hello Hello

A little dissappointed this morning. I've worked hard this past week with several 4 point days (including yesterday) and I step on the scale this morning expecting to see a tiny bit of progress, but no, I've gained a pound. hmpf!

Julie - Speaking of Maine summers...I was there this summer and it was absolutely beautiful. Our final destination was Acadia NP, and we watched the sun set from the top of the mountain.

Judy - "crossing fingers" for you and Jeff.

Hi girls!

First of all I have missed you all. Its just not the same without dropping in to say hi. You have all become like part of my life;) .
The only thing I am happy about with this crash is that I got gizmo back! On my avatar...I had lost that file of his picture...but now there he is!:)

Secondly, on my last post I had asked if any of you girls had feedback for me regarding a small bugdet vacation I would like to take. Like a nice weekend getaway or a nice state to visit...something away from the city, but still a bit accessible. I have no clue...help!!:^:

Faye- glad to receive the invite...so we can all have a chat session in there? I would be glad to make it. Let me know when okay.;)

Susan- i agree with Faye in that you should drop him an email...a brief email saying you had a good time, if he is interested he'll catch on;) :D . But the key is letting him know because guys can be really dumb and clueless sometimes:lol: .

Julie- wowwww its cold here too. i am going upstate tomorrow and am sure it'll be colder up there...need to pack extra warm.

Judy- You must be excited about Jeff and I am happy for YOU, just keep a lookout okay;) .

SandyB- You're back! Glad to see you posting again. :dancer: :grouphug:

A big welcome to the new people! Hope you like it here.

Beth- hey there hope you doing good.

okay now as far as points i been staying o/p and drinking my water, but all I really remember is getting 3 pts for yesterday, Wed, and Tues. Today I am also doing good.

I think I'll weigh myself on Monday because TOM is here now so I won't bother weighing in today. Nonetheless, I feel I have lost weigh....lets see what the scale thinks:lol: .

Okay that's all for now i think...I will check back later on.

Cathy: One of the best things here is that you participate where and when you want so you do whatever makes you happy. There is NO pressure to join into anything here, though I do keep an eye on everybody to see how they are doing! Oh and what link are you talking about? My website one? Supposedly those cookies on my website are lowfat. I personally didn't like them because they are like merangues, nothing to them.

Dorothy: Ok, you may have lost my pm about your trip when all this stuff crashed. I ask you how far away you wanted to go and what interests you have such as, casinos, amusement parks, outdoor stuff, historical stuff, pampering, music, whatever. I have been all over the place with Jack in the Navy so I can give a variety of stuff. Williamsburg, VA is a terrific historical visit and it has 2 amusement parks close by, Va Beach or Atlantic City if you gamble/beach, Cooperstown NY if you are a sports fan or Hershey Penn is fascinating even with the smell of chocolate all the time! Chicago is a great city with superb museums and restaurants though I don't know how far you want to go, Nashville is cool as is Memphis if you are a music fan. One of the things Jack and I have always wanted to do is go to a mystery weekend. You can go to yahoo and search just put in mystery weekends and it will give you tons of them. If you like to camp, go to the smoky mountains or even to the pocanos where you are. Go to Niagara Falls and visit the Canadian side which has some neat stuff to see. Gosh I could just keep going!

Ok, besides my cord mishap, I have again gone and done something DUMB! I got my shower and decided since I was going out to walk I would pick up a couple things from the store. I needed puppy pads, bananas and something for lunch. WELLLLLL, I got there and ended up buying 3 pk frozen fruit, a dozen eggs, puppy pads, bananas, a book, a 6 pak of juice to make smoothies with and some lunch for me. I had to walk about .6 home and those bags were HEAVY! I was soaked from sweat when I got home, my shoulder hurt and my back from kind of bending over because part of the walk is uphill. I cannot believe I did something so stupid. It did however give me a great cardio!

Gotta go!

Faye;)

I had a "fit of fitness" once and decided to walk from school to work. I got out of class early and had several hours to kill. Didn't even THINK about the fact that it was like10 miles and uphill! Nothin' like sweatin' in pantyhose!!

I've having a weird day.

Just...off. I can't say not my usual self because I know I've been like this to vaying dergees forever. Just not a whole lot of people know it.
3 things set it off this morning, 1 right after the other. 1st was the pound I've gained. Usually I can deal with set backs pretty well, but usually I know what's caused the set back. I just feel out of control now. Some weeks I'll work my butt of and not see any difference and then I'll be slack a week and lose 3 pounds, I just don't get it, there is little consistancy. I know I have to get more in touch with my body and let it go at its own pace, but its still frustrating epecially seeing people who have more to lose than I do having lost it all in 1/2 the time (and still being pretty healthy about it).
2nd I got an e-mail from a friend of mine about whose idea it was to play a little trick on me last year. She and one of my best friends thought it would be funny to try and BS me a little by saying they were dating, since they thought I was jealous of their friendship. Let me just say that my feelings and attitude tward my best friend is too complicated for even me to figure out. I admit that I used to have very strong feelings for him, and I'm sure he knew it, at least part of the time, and I can be kind of possessive. I realized this morning that by caring so much for him and wanting to be so close I damaged any chance I had of actually being that close.
This brings me to something else...something that was touched on yesterday about who or what controls emotions in your life. I put way too much of myself into my encounters with people. Even to the point of letting it determine my self worth. I don't mean having lots of friends, but it bothers me when my real friends either ... aren't receptive, or I fear don't care about me as I do for them. I don't know. Its things like being here in my dorm on friday nights and hearing all the other people in the hall laughing and hanging out when I know I've blown my chance to become part of that circle. For all of last term I thought I was transfering so I didn't want to let myself become attached, so I didn't socialize, now they have their little click and I feel like a recluse. I've never cared much for social structure and could care less who "cool" people are. But it would be nice not to feel like the dorm outcast. ... Of course the same thing happened last year and I didn't think I was transfering...guess I'm an extrovert trapped inside an introvert.
3rd I got a responce from that guy I e-mailed. I guess I shouldn't be upset about that. It was pleasent, but anticlimactic.

Sorry for the long gripe....I just don't know where else I could say it.

Thanks Ladies, you've been a great addition to my life.

Hello all. Not really in the mood to post but wanted to say hello. I did get 4 points for yesterday I guess so that is good. Can't say the same about today. Since after Christmas I seem to be having a good day or two and then a bad day then a good day so on and so forth. I won't be making any progress this way that is for sure. I think I need to shoot for 3 good days in a row to get me back on track. When I make it to day 3 then day 4 won't be so hard and I will see the scale going down which will help keep me going, or so I hope.

Cathy - I saw that you posted you had lifted weights and you were sore and were just doing cardio today. Good going by the way. Anyway I just thought I would impart some of my knowledge, **** I pay enough for the biology classes I'm taking might as well get some good out of them.

Anyway, as I'm sure you may know or others may know the soreness is caused by lactic acid. Here is why that forms. All of your bodies cellular functions are fueled by something that is called ATP (Adenosine Tri-Phosphate). Without ATP there would be no life as we know it. Anyway ATP is produced normally by a combination of oxgyen and sugar. This whole process is called cellular respiration. There are two types of cellular respiration, aerobic and anaerobic. When oxygen is involved, which is the normal way, it is aerobic cellular respiration. This whole process is long and involved and I won't bore you with it here. We actually produce our body weight in ATP daily which I find amazing. Back to the point lol. The second type of cellular respiration is anaerobic cellular respiration, meaning it produces ATP without using oxygen. This is not as effective as aerobic cellular respiration but works in a pinch.

When you do an activity such as weight lifting your muscle tissue does not have enough oxygen to produce the needed ATP to fuel your activity so it produces it without oxygen. It gets the job done but also creates a by-product...lactic acid. The lactic acid causes your muscles to be sore. The best course of action when you have this soreness is to drink as much water as you can and keep moving. These two things will help transport the lactic acid to the liver where it is broken down and moved out of the body. Another interesting fact is that one of the reasons you see the scale go up when you start lifting weights is that if you have worked out hard enough for your muscles to be sore they are also storing water. Which is another reason to drink water to flush the excess out. So the increase on your scale is due to water retention in the sore muscles and muscle weight gain.

So...keep moving and drink water and the soreness will go away. Just don't stop lifting weights waiting for the soreness to go away.

Now that I have bored everyone to tears I will call it a night lol.

Beth

Beth- Actually I found that info very useful...thanks. I mean i had an idea about the lactic acid having a connection with the soreness, but the water retention is new to me. I definately understand it better now.

SATURDAY: Today is Sunny Thoughts Saturday. Share with us anything you would like that is uplifting or funny.

Susan: First off about the weight thing. It is one of two reasons, I would suspect if you are working at it and you know it. You are either not eating enough to boost your metabolism to burn the fat or exercise for the same reason. Go to www.dietitian.com and use her healthy weight I think it is called calculator to find out how much you should be taking in. It takes 1/2 hour exercise everyday to maintain and an hour to lose. You also have to combine cardio and strength training not just one or the other. Weight training will up the metabolism and make your body lose faster. There is a 3rd thing and that is if you ARE where you should be in all aspects then I would see if I was losing inches. If you are a big exerciser, then you are replacing fat with muscle and muscle weighs more so you ARE losing but the scale doesn't say so! Secondly, friends came be real dumb bunnies sometimes. Don't be too hard on them, but don't let them off the hook either. Tell them you didn't find it funny and that you were insulted your friendship meant so little to them that they felt they needed to play a joke on you. Thirdly, as for friends etc. Since you are in an environment where everyone is pretty tightknit and you yourself have said you refrained from becoming a part of it, you MUST find friendships elsewhere. I don't know what your school schedule is like, but volunteering can not only be very uplifting, it is a way to meet new people. Check with your city about literacy programs for adults, hospital volunteering, meals on wheels for seniors, there are hundreds of things. REMEMBER what happened when the new school year starts and try and make friends with incoming students. You have to BE a FRIEND to MAKE friends, so you are going to have to initiate conversations places with people you don't know, which I know is hard. Go to hangouts like Starbucks, or student unions and take a book, but if someone sits down alone by you, say hello, how are you, do you come here a lot, is your home here, etc. You might be surprised at how many ways you can make friends outside your dorm. You keep coming here and we will keep on trying to make things alright for you. We love you!

You ladies have a great day. I am going to get dressed, do a load of laundry and read a book for awhile. Then it is out to walk, though NOT for groceries.

Oh, BTW, Calendar Girls was fantastic. I cried so hard I actually made a sound and Jack had to kind of help me calm down. I just related to the woman's situation I guess. It is a great movie and you should go see it if you can. Very funny too! One of the funny things last night, was I stopped at the restroom and told Jack just to go and get seats and I would meet him in the theater. When I got down there he was standing it the end of the ramp. I whispered, is it full already and he said, nooooo. I said, "What's the matter, then?" He said, "You'll see." I said, "Oh Lord, it's FULL of old people, isn't it?" Sure enough, it looked like 2 for one little old blue hair ladies day at the salon! One of the reasons it is funny is this is happening to us more and more and our dd is always telling us that we are old now because we have a big car and a little dog ! There were 2 young girls that had come with their mom, but everyone else was wayyyyyyyy over 50. It was cute, right before the movie started a troup of about 7 little ladies over 70 came in as a group and sat down.

:sunny: thoughts today ladies! Faye:)

Good Morning!

I have to say that my day improved drasticly after that post. Guess I just needed to get it out of my system. I had fun last night with a couple people I know, and stayed up ridiculously late talking about music mostly, and trying to make some plans for today which happenes to be my 20th birthday :D It feels SO good not to have that nasty "teen" at the end of my age anymore!

Well I'm not going to be doing so well with being op for today...(or last night for that matter) but another reason my weight is likely not cooperating is TOM which hadn't even occured to me at the time! But here it is. It tends to seriously sneek up.

Hope you all have a lovely day :)

Beth..thank you for the biology lesson :D i really enjoyed reading that too..today i'll be lifting again..every other day is my plan :)
I think i read that you have to have a days rest for your muscles to recover  don't know if thats true or not. You can probably tell me ;)

Faye, you cried:  ?? oh..i wanted to see that movie but not if it makes you cry :( i want to laugh!

Well, as usual i've been online for hours and i've got things i want to do..exercise..clean..shop. so i'll get going

Faye, I can't wait to see that movie, it sounds great.

2 points for yesterday, water and op. I couldn't help but stay op at dinner last night. Jeff came over for dinner, I made my son's favorite meat loaf---between the 2 of them I was lucky to get any at all!!!! Bottomless pits, both of them.

Have a great Saturday.

Judy :dancer:
Me: :dancer:

Susan: I am so glad you feel better! BTW HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! :gift: :hat: :cp:  :balloons: Hope you have a spectacular one!

Cathy: Oh, I forgot we have some newbies who don't know. First off, my dh and I have been married going on 32 years. He is my very best friend in the world and we are tremendously close. In the middle of the night of November 2 of this last year, he had a major heart attack. He is doing well now, but it was very very tough on me and I pretty much kept it bottled up so I could handle everything. I am a BIG cryer even for cartoons, but I really identified with this poor woman and knowing it was a real story made it even more so. In this movie, her husband has leukemia and passes and that is why I was crying. It just tore me up. It is a spectacular movie and very very funny so you really should go and see it.

Judy: Doing good girl, keep it up!

I was all energetic this morning again and made two batches of lowfat buttermilk biscuits and froze them and a batch of homemade noodles. I have never made them with egg beaters before instead of eggs and with half the salt, but they came out ok so I will let you know tomorrow how they taste. Instead of using a stock chicken, I am using boneless skinless chicken breast, cooking it shredding it and then cooking it in ff canned chicken stock so we will see how that comes out. Sure will drastically cut the fat for sure! I also made myself a peach and apricot smoothie which was really good.

Well, I am going to let my dh have the computer and get the sheets out of the dryer, make the bed and unload the dishwasher.

Faye:)

GOOD MORNING BEAUTIFULS!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUSAN!! I understand completely what u were saying about putting too much of your self into relationships... but its who i am... and i happen to like me... so i just deal with it... does that make sense? I hope so... Sometimes u just have to come to the realization that if u like who u r... then u need to celebrate it... Take pride in yourself and how u do things. Every now and then someone will come along and make u question how u r... but u just need to remember that its just something to learn from... Man, i am getting alot out of this as well...lol seriously... sometimes we just need to be a bit more patient with ourselves... treat ourselves as we would treat others. Ok i had an epiphany here and i am glad... i hope it helps u too susan...
I really want to go and see that movie Faye... glad to hear it was so good. Judy good luck with the boyfriend, and i agree with
Faye... be careful... Beth... chin up ... u r a good and beautiful person and we all have our blue days...i sometimes have bl;ue weeks...lol just know u can come here and vent or cry or say whatever u want to and we will be here... and love u... and support u. Saturday!

Hello seriously fun ladies! I'm forum-shopping, a returning 3FCer who's been gone for a while. This forum sounds terrific, and I think I would like to participate. I will introduce myself: I'm Kim,
I am starting Nursing School in Portland, Oregon right now. I was supposed to start last week but no school cause of the freak ice and snow storm (you heard about it from Scuzin!) The snow is slowly going away, so I guess I'll start on Monday. I am 26, live with my boyfriend in NE Portland, and have 2 cats. I have been struggling with my weight actively for about 2 years, have 21 lbs to lose to reach my goal (BMI 24).

Since it is saturday I will open up the joke book for you...
I didn't write them, and can't be held responsible for any groan-related injuries.

What do you get when you cross a comedian with a salamander?

A shtick in the mud.

I am really into the positive attitude, having fun sort of thing. Hope I fit in!!!!

Thanks for the lovely birthday greeting! Hope you all are well.

Hello Chickies,

Dropping in to let you know that I AM STILL ALIVE! just have been busy. I must confess I gained 3.3 lbs since last weigh in, I knew I had some, since I have been nibbling and NOT EXERCISING since Christmas Day!!!!!!!!!!!! yikes:devil:

Getting revved up to get back on track! so now it is a 53 lb loss, so, not going to keep kicking myself in the rear over it. just need to get back in the saddle again, Right?

Welcome to all you new girls!! you will feel very loved and inspired here.

Take care of all of you lovely ladies, and I will ck in again soon;)

Hi Girls.

I just lost a long post I'd just written - how annoying!:headache:

Welcome to you Kim - you sound like you'll fit right in here!

Also Happy Birthday to you Susan :hb: :hat: :gift: :goodvibes - I hope you had a fantastic day!

I'm trying to set up an exercise routine at the moment. I've just bought an exercise mat and ab-trainer, so I can now use my exercise bike and do sit ups and floor exercises at home, as well as go to the gym. I think I'll benefit from doing my exercises at the same time every day so it becomes a routine. I might have a temp job locally starting soon, so I'll have much less time - but I think it will actually help me to have a more structured day, as at the moment I tend to drift about doing nothing!

Hope everyone is fine and dandy!

Love Amanda xxx

SUNDAY: Today is Silly Poll Sunday and here is our Silly Poll this week:

Now ladies, this is all fun so just play along. You are at your cosmetic surgeon's to get "redone" completely. He shows you pictures of celebrities body parts, whose do you choose for your boobs, butt, legs, etc.?

POINTS WRAP UP:

Kimmy: :bravo:

Welcome, Kimmy, we are thrilled to have you here. If you haven't already clued in, all the information about the thread is in the very first post. When you feel comfortable enough with the group, send me your e-mail if you like and I will send you an invitation to join our myfamily website where you will be able to join in the chat, post photos and all kinds of things. Oh, I am sending you a pm with my e-mail address and if you e-mail me the photo you would like as your avatar, I will resize it and send it back to you for you to use. Several of the ladies have sent me pics to resize for them. I do delete them however after I have posted or e-mailed them back to reduce taking up space on my computer.

Amanda: Got your e-mail and will send your invite to you.

Got an e-mail from my son's fiance telling me when her bridal shower is. I really want to go, but I don't know if I can swing it money wise with the trip to Vegas. I am gonna talk to Jack. The airline tickets are really reasonable to go for that weekend so we will see.

As for the poll, I guess I would probably like to have Carmen Electra's boobs (perky and dh is a big boob man! ), Jlo's butt even though everyone else thinks it is too big, again Jack would like it  , and Tyra Banks legs only in white to match the rest of me!

I guess in the reality world, I have Mavis' boobs from the Hallmark Cartoon, the butt of Jumbo the elephant and the legs of Billy Barty, saggy, tubby and short!

Have a great day ladies! Faye:)

I got all 4 points yesterday and the day before. I have still not stepped on the scale.. I am not quite ready to. I have been working very hard.. and have noticed a bit of slack in my waistband which I pray is a good sign.

Good afternoon everyone!

Cathy: I probably could afford the parking meter and that would be it. As long as I didn't get that creepy basketball player as a free throw in! I told the ladies once before, my weight loss is making my body look like wax that has run! There is only so much tightening when you have lost nearly a 100 lbs.

Donna: Good to see you today! Hope you are doing well!

Debbie: We are ALL very proud of you! That is terrific!

I got a good mile and a half walk in today with my poochie! He loves for me to take him and it makes me walk faster cause the little booger GOES! I also stayed on plan today though I got right to the edge and got my water in so it will be 4 for me tomorrow.

Everyone have a nice afternoon and evening and I will see you in the morning!

SUNDAY, The Poll...Celebrities...Beyonce from the waist down, especially from the Crazy video. For sure. She is looks so strong with great thighs! Chest: Maybe Penelope Cruz? I can't remember for sure, but I think I have the idea. Arms: Madonna today.

Faye, Donna, thanks for the greetings, I am going to send my photo off right now for cropping!

My current plan is just to write down everything I eat and calculate the points on it, I'm not ready to start controlling again. And to exersize. But today, Sunday, is my day to just stretch, no aerobics or pilates. So it's pretty mellow now. But even when I was controling my food perfectly I never wrote it down. So this is the big challenge. Write it all down!

Last night I wrote up a 16 week exersize and diet plan that I think is realistic to keep to. I am ready to do it. This is the first time I have really written down what I plan to do!

Being here influenced me to go write my stuff down! Thanks!

Good Morning!
Got 2 points for yesterday, water and op. No exercise, ds and I were very busy finishing the display board for his science fair project. He tested how fast several kinds of christmas trees caught fire from an electrical short in a set of lights. A 13 yr old and setting things on fire---what a combination! It was a lot of fun and he learned something too. Never let a Blue Spruce dry out!!! They go up in seconds. BTW, we didn't test whole trees, just branches.
Anyway, our poll--just give me Marilyn Monroe's whole body and I will be happy! Voluptuous sounds good to me.
My mission is to get my butt moving. I NEED to make time to exercise, maybe shift my schedule so I go to be earlier and get up earlier to exercise. Right now I stay up kind of late to have alone time, after my son goes to bed, but I guess I could do it in the morning. It's just so hard to get out of my warm comfy bed! When do ya'll exercise and have your alone time?

Morning All ... Sorry I have been MIA but my husbands grandmother passed at the beginning of last week and I have been off work and down there...it has been quite a mess going through everything and dealing with family...

so it looks like everyone is doing fine, welcome to the new people...

I have finally gotten serious about the weight loss since Jan 1st and am now back down to 226.5...woo hoo...although before Thanksgiving I was down to 217 so I still have a ways to go before I am back where I was working my way down to onederland....cannot wait to get to 199, well more like 198 or 197...199 is still to close....

Hope everyone is having a good day, talk to ya all later....

Carri, so sorry about your dh grandmother.
Judy,That science fair project sounds like it was a lot of FUN.
I have not been exercising yesterday was the first day,
I have the walk away the pounds and some richard simmoms tapes.
I do not have my vcr connected up, but that is the plan for today, I am going connect up the vcr and get out those tapes and start using them.
I did not get anything done around here over the weekend, so today I have all the laundry to do , plus the dusting and vaccumning etc. etc. so I had better get to it!!!
Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Good Monday Morning everyone!

Boy, I'm gone for a couple of days and you gals get chatty! Can't possibly catchup on everyone, so I hope you are all doing super.

I was sooooo good last week! And then came the weekend....dh and some friends threw me a "surprise" early birthday party. It was so awesome, cuz I've never had anyone throw me a party (like since I was a kid). I love mermaids, so they had an ocean theme and dh cooked (by himself!) over $200 worth of seafood! OMG, it was amazing! We had lobster, and two shrimp dishes, salmon, cod, chowder, crabcakes, scallops and rice......I ate sooo much, I just love seafood! I don't think any of it was particularly bad for me, but I did pack it in! So, I weighed in this morning and I didn't lose anything from last weeks angelic behavior. But, that's ok given the weekend.

I'm back to journaling all the food and exercise....so, I'm looking forward to a great week.

Well, gotta fly. Middle daughter is sick and I have to go get her prescription.

Check in later,
Julie
