I gave in and called my estranged stepmother (maybe wording is wrong). I thought it went ok. Didn't really learn anything new but maybe stressed something to her and that I do not hold grudges toward her. My Dad and she are both very independent people and both just turning 70 they are not at the point for one another. Yes, this is weird but I'm still related to her. She is my deceased Mother's first cousin. So, we carry the same blood line. I confessed to her ONE thing he told me that she said to him about us daughters controlling him.. BIG LAUGH! If you knew my Dad you would know NO ONE controls him. She kept on stressing that *I* never controlled him but only did good for him. I wonder. It doesn't matter. I just wished her a Happy Mother's Day and said goodbye. She said that "we don't have problems do we?" no, I don't. I'm glad that I called. I just hope that she doesn't turn anything around to my Dad. I will tell him I called her. I have nothing to hide.

Guys thanks for worrying but all is pretty well here. Dh is fine and is cooking me breakfast as I type this. We finished the platform for our little pool yesterday and it's up and running. It looks pretty and "even" for a change. This is the 4th year we've had it and it's always a little deeper on one side or the other. Now pray that nothing falls apart or that the platformed deck holds the strength of us. it's holding up the water so far but no one has been in it.

As for me, I've been stamping and taking it easy and plan on doing more of that today. Just sitting outside most of yesterday, my shoulders are blistered and I don't know if I will be able to "pool" today or not. I am working on my diet. I haven't gotten my south beach diet book yet but it may come today. I dont eat any carbs for breakfast or lunch for the most part but I do drink about 6 ounces of fat free milk for breakfast which it says you can have 2 servings of a day. That is about 9 carbs so I'm not totally "carb free" by any means and I did have 4 slices of bread yesterday as well. It's nothing like I had been eating though. I had gained 3 pounds back when hubby was in hosp. but that's because I had biscuits for about 4 meals during that time. So now I'm trying to lose that back and almost have I think. I will have to check my signature after posting this to see what it said but I am at 247 this morning. I thought I really burned some calories yesterday.

Donna I think talking to your step mother was a good thing and who cares that it wasn't. It was what you needed to do for yourself and then to keep good vibes all over. How's that pool coming along? I'd like to see what one looks like before the water is in it. Are yall going with 8 foot or 12 foot for the deeper end? My cousin who lives up behind us has one that has 12 foot. I'm not into that myself. I like to stay on the shallow end or do some floating on a float. :) I hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day!

Summer, Jim will be fine on monday and we all will pray for him for good results and comfort during procedure and for his nerves leading up to it. Won't you have to wait a few days afterwards for results? Do you guys have any gigs planned? Maybe a big 4th of July party coming up in a couple months?

Rosey, going bingo this week or taking it off for your holiday? Like I said earlier, I feel I have being doing some stuff for me. I stamped a lot yesterday and plan on putting some cards together in a few. It's going to be a scorcher here today. Our UV sun index has been near 10 last couple days; hince the sunburn. :rofl: That was stupidity on my half. I should have known it would happen in that tank top I wore all day yesterday but getting that pool set up for the kids was well worth it. It's hitting 90 or above today and did the same yesterday. I would love 70's. What the normal high for you guys in the dead summer? Hope you have a super Mother's Day.

Happy Mother's Day to you to Daphne. I hope your yard sale makes a million. Ok maybe a thousand?? :shrug: We have stuff sitting all over to have one too but then something keeps coming up and I want a few days to plan and we really don't have a good place for one. Did you get any gifts from school? Laken brought me some beads that say MOM in print & braille. I think it would go on my keychain. She also made a neat calendar that you wipe off to change the months.

I am sorry that I wasnt in here over the weekend..Friday I went to the class..I wont attend that one again.. To advanced for me and to much getting up and down on the floor exercises.. I cant get up and down that fast sooooo Its to much.. I like the Tuesday class and with 3 days of water classes thats enough....We had a busy weekend..I went shopping with a friend to Walmart Saturday night and hubby went with some of his friends to the local race track here..He had not been in years and wanted to go..He needed that to take his mind off of Monday's procedure.. Which he had today and has to take again..Can you believe it..They said he was not cleaned out enough and that happens sometimes to bigger people...So now he has to do it again on the 24th with more pills and he is furious.. and I dont blame him.. They did take a look and said from what they saw he looks fine but they want a clearer look and be sure.. I cant understand why they didnt give more stuff to take to begin with..Its always something.. I understand that how he feels.. He has had it with all the tests and procedures and surgerys...I understand his flustration and worry.. cause I worry enough for both of us..Sometimes I feel like I have aged 20 years in the last 4....but thats life I guess..
I am so glad that you all had nice Mothers Days..We didnt do anything cause of him taking all that stuff for the procedure and he could only eat broth and jello and ginger ale...so dinner was out....we just watched TV and read the paper..Today its hot..we have the air on.. First time this year.. I went tanning and now I am doing some laundry..This afternoon I am going to the grocery store and then tonight is class.. So my day is full...

Dana.. I am so glad to hear that all is well with your and family.. I bet your pool is really nice..I got a little to much in the tanning bed and had to lay off a couple days last week but I am ok now...Be careful in the sun with your sunburn untill your shoulders gets better...

I am sure you will be on track with your diet.. Its so easy to gain due to stress...When your dh was in he hospital..you had to eat and run..its all so understandable..You will take it off Sweetie.. I hope your SB diet book comes soon..if you need to know anything before it comes.. Please let me know as I have the book..I dont plan on doing a carb free diet.. I believe that your body needs some carbs to fuction..so I am eating some...I try to stay away from bread thats so hard..its summertime and I love tomato sandwiches..yes sandwichesssssssss..:lol:..but I am trying not to give in.. I am endulging on the weekends.. I read somewhere if you diet all week and eat what you want within reason on the weekends that you can still lose weight and stay on your diet cause you dont feel so deprived..I have been doing that and I am losing...maybe not as fast as others but its seems to be working for me.

Hair, packing, Graduation Exercises


The title pretty much sums up my day today. This morning, I have a hair appt. and really need to see the nail technician as well. Have to take care of those dead cells as my dh says! ;) Afterwards, it is back to my Dad's house to start packing the dinning room. Later this evening, I must attend the graduation ceremony for a local college. My Dad is receiving the 2004 Honorary Alumni of the Year Award tonight so I have my special invitation to get my special seat. :)


Yesterday, I did the best with everything. Water, food, exercise, rest were all in order. I feel very good today. After this entry, I will do my Pilates DVD and be ready to go to the appt.

Now although my Dad is receiving this high honor, I more proud in my DD right now. She was really struggeling this school year with grades, and just adapting to a new school while we have been also struggeling with medication issues. I guess since maybe late February or maybe earlier than that, not really sure I started seeing some improvements. I spoke with her teacher who she and I discussed some ways of helping Elena. She was moved to a little table to herself but still not far away from all the others for concentration. Before she was sharing a round table with 3 other children, two which were boys and she is very distracted by boys. She loved her new seating and I told her that I would reward her with money for every A or B on a test paper but would have to take a way money if she made a Unsatisfactory on a test. That has hit it off big time I think. Yesterday, she brought home her papers from the week prior and she made FIVE A+'s and TWO B's!!!! On her last progress report she had ALL B's! And that is amazing because she had brought up TWO U's from the report before! I am on cloud nine today still and it's not because of being OP or my Dad having another trophy to put on his wall, but for my child who has become more confident and she is PROUD of herself. BTW, we just counted her money and she has over 30 dollars! LOL I think she should be on that stage tonight, don't you?!

Summer, I am sorry that Jim's colonoscopy has been delayed AGAIN. I agree, they should of provided him with better means to prepare for this yesterday. :( My Jim needs to have this done but he is so weary of doctors. He just had skin cancer removed from his nose and they had to dig into it twice. It is the kind of cancer that does not spread at least. That was done two weeks ago and it is still healing. I am concerned about that. I guess because of him being on a blood thinner that maybe why it takes much longer, plus it was deep.

Dana, glad to hear that all was calm for a while. I hope you are still trying to get your second wind. The deep end of the pool is going to be 8 feet. They have run into some problems digging it. There is a little spring underground that they hit and also the neighbors from years past was burying their house hold trash on the property. It was awful, carpet, all sorts of trash. I will send you pictures of it soon.

Kris, Glen, Rosey, Daphne I hope you all are well. I need to make this quick for I need to do my Pilates then get out the door.

Donna that is a wonderful rewarding system. Some parents don't take too well when their children are moved around in the class like that but it's always benefited my kids. When brett was in Kindergarten, it wasn't anything unusual to put him in the hall to do his work. It wasn't because he misbehaved cause he was the best acting child in the class but he was always bothered by who was on the computer or whatever center he was interested in going to when he finished his work. It worked brilliantly too. You certainly have something to be proud of with both elena and your dad and share your gloatedness. :) There are parents in this world who give up on their kids too easily. I hear that all the time especially with laken's friends. I'm the only parent who has taken to learning braille and with the other kids, the vision teacher has to write the print above the braille for homework. I think that is unfair to the children myself and I couldn't imagine it any other way. Now I am the only family member who has learned it and I feel special cause I can communicate with laken via braille in the future when she "writes" things on her own and no one else can translate them.

Summer I am terribly sorry for what you and jim had to go through yesterday just to know you have to do it again. It wasn't no ones fault that they couldn't do the test but it was the medical teams fault for not giving him enough to clean him out. Do they give pills for that? I remember my grandmother and dad having to drink some kind of mixture. Maybe it's easier now. My mom is going to have the one done over the summer where they actually put you to sleep for it. It's new in our area. It will be her first one. She's 53 and it's recommended for her now. I got my SB book yesterday and was surprised to find the fake mashed potatoes recipe in it. I told DH to make it for me. He's better at new recipes. I'm not eating no carbs by any means. I have to keep my sugar elevated. I am just watching them really more close than in the past and since starting it, I"ve lost 10.5 pounds so something is working for me. Just hope I can stay "careful" for a long time to keep losing. I probably eat about 50 carbs at most and I was eating about 250. I haven't followed the phase 1 to a tee yet but even on that you're allowed veggies which have carbs. I'm trying to keep away from breads, pastas and taters. :lol:

Rosey did you finally get rid of all that snow? Did you ever get started on ebay? I have some cards to finish today so i can put some more on. i only do them in sets of 5 and I take a picture of them all laid in a group. I want to be able to offer someday where they can tell me what ocassions to put together but for now, it's whatever I"ve made and I hardly have any right now. What did you get for mother's day? I dont' recall you telling us but then again, what do I remember? :lol:

Daphne I will comment to you on the other thread. I will mention to the others here that you were upset when you posted yesterday and that your DH didn't get you anything for mother's day cause "you weren't his mother". I actually treasure what my kids make me at school more than any gift that can be bought and I"ve always made that clear to DH but that's just my feelings. I'm happy with my plants too.

Hi everyone..being lazy today..im so sore from the exercise..its like i have cement in my joints and it hurts to move..i know this is good for me..but gee whiz when will it stop hurting :( ..donna.. thats so great about elanas grades..im proud for you and her.. my dd use a reward system with the grandkids using jars and marbles..when they do something good or extra chores they get so many marbles to put in their jar.. when its full they get a speacial treat..when they do something wrong they get marbles taken away..it works really well for them..and the dd says they do things without being asked to fill their jar..anyways arent kids grand most of the time :lol: dana.. i havent been working on cards lately..but beading.. finished the necklaces yesterday and the lady came to get them..she was so pleased.. shes 81 and they are for to put her hearing aids in when shes on the phone..the neacklaces are like a little purse..today am getting stuff together for my dd garage sale..she made almost 1,000 $ last weekend and wants to do it this weekend so im adding some of my junk of which i have alot of :lol: ..summer sorry about jims tests.. did he have to drink that gallon of go litely stuff..actually it should be called go lotly :lol: anyways can understand his frustration..hows the exercise going??wtg to all the loosers.. we all deserve a :cp: :encore: :cp: for our efforts im so proud of all of us..hello to daphnee..kris and mr ken..will check in later((((((hugs))))))rosey:wave:

I am trying to get out of here and run some errands and go tanning.. So much to do.. I didnt go to class last night. I went and did the treadmill for 20 min. Thats all I could do and did a few weights.. The class is just to hard on my knees right now.. I figure that doing something is better than nothing..

Donna.. I dont blame you for being so proud of Elena..She has really done great.. I can imagine how excited she is about getting good grades..I think the reward system is a good thing for children.. It helps them in many ways..You are such a great Mom in everyway..

You are right about the blood thinner making it longer to heal..
I hope that he doesnt have to stay on that for along time.. My Jim takes a asprin a day.. Our Dr said that you get just as much benifit from asprin as a blood thinner and less dangerous..Have your Jim talk to the Dr about that..
Blood thinners are dangerous if taken for long periods of time..I guess all Drs have different oppinions about thigns..
My Jim is so tired of Dr.'s also.. He wasnt going to have the second colonoscopy but I talked him into it... I want him to have a clean reading..
They put him to sleep everytime.. and now you take 20 pills instead of that awful stuff to drink..I cannot take those pills. They are the biggest pills I have ever seen and Jim says they taste very salty.. I would prefer the liquid to that..He has to take 40 pills this time.. Unreal... :lol: on the marbles Good One..LOL LOL..

You are like me doing this diet.. I am eating fruit and not eating pasta and rice and potatoed.. I miss those things..so on the weekends I eat some of them..Thats way I dont feel so deprived and stick to it better..

We had talked about this cookie last year or before.. It has a funny name..as I recall a lady made these cookies.. They come in many flavors and I think they are expensive.....as I recall when I checked on them before.. I have not seen them in the Grocery store and I thought they were suppose to be there??.. I just cant seem to recall the name of them....
As I recall they were to help with appitite controll too?? I think it was like a breakfast cookie..Not sure though...
I am sure that someone here might remember them..

Summer, I bet you were so excited about picking up your pool passes!!! That is great! I am so excited that this Summer will be much better for you and Jim. :) I wish that we could just get by with taking an aspirin but you don't probably remember that he has that mechanical valve and he has to make sure the blood level is just right so that no bacteria can form or clotting around that valve. Simply taking aspirin isn't enough. The strength he would need would end up eating up his stomach. So, he is on the blood thinner medication for the rest of his life. His blood level is checked once a month too and actually last time it was checked it was too thick!!! :shrug: Anyway, bless his heart he is stuck with cardiologists for the rest of his life on a monthly basis! I am just so thankful there was something that could be done for him. I would not have him with me today if it wasn't for that St. Jude Valve.
I need to catch up on my duties here at my own house today. I have been over at my Dad's house for the last TWO days packing. It's getting more and more depressing because I'm finding more and more things that I GAVE to my Stepmother and it didn't mean as much to her as she let on to me when she received it. Although I have not come across the bracelet yet that I gave her last Christmas... It's probably in a drawer that we haven't gotten to yet. :cry:

OK I am here sorry for not posting sooner. The cookies I think are called bakers cookies. They are like close to 2 dollars a cookie and one cookie is 2 servings. I have a store here that sells them cheaper though. My garage sale together all of us made around 1300. That does include the 300 jason made for his boat. I think Jason and I made around 325 not counting the boat. So we did the best you could say. I had clothing real cheap so mine sold. One lady was selling shirts for like 3 dollars and they had stains on them. I looked at it what would I pay for this and be happy?
Rosey did you take a picture of the necklaces? I would love to see what they look like. I hope you make a lot at the sale this weekend. What about selling cards at the garage sale?
Donna congrats on all the bragging rights that you have earned! I am still laughing at the *losing your marbles* comment. I have to go back and read some more to catch up but wanted to post first.
Summer I am so sorry about the test mix up. Por DH having to start all over again. How is his weight loss going anyhow? I would of wanted to jump into that pool as well!
Oh the day of our sale it rained and rained and rained. The next day it was rainy as well. Maybe not as rainy but still a lot of rain. We also had thunder showers during the sale. The high priced lady kind of got bossy and took over the sale. My neighbor and I had the sale set up looking nice and then he SIL comes buy with and get this I kid you not.... 3 full truck beds full and 2 vans full of stuff. She then was moving stuff around and then.... she was tired so she tried to tell us where to put her crap. I finally just left in frustration.
She then see some TV trays that I had for sale for 3 dollars. Says she wants them and will pay tomorrow. She tells my hubby later that she owes him 3 dollars for them and he said thats OK just take them. He then goes and wants a board that she had for sale. 10 dollars for one or 15 for 2. That lil Bi*** charged him the 10 dollars. I found that out later and I was PI****. I mean she should have given him the board at the lower price at the very least. Oh and to top it off??? We had a chair for sale that was a neighbors for 20 dollars. She said she wanted it for her Son. We said fine and put a sold sign on it. So then come Saturday morning? Her hubby tells her no that her Son doesn't need it. I was fuming then. So we lost a sale there on it. We gave it to my neighbors Dad so it was cool but was that not totally rude?
Oh I love what the kids made me for Mothers Day don't get me wrong. I was hurt that if the schools had not made a thing then I would have had nothing. I work my butt off for his kids and I hhonestly felt totally Disrespected. It still hurts me that he thinks so little of me. My marriage is in trouble over other things and at times i don't know if I want to be married to him anymore. I am here for now being as Megan needs me and I needs his financial support for now. I think I love him but right now my wound is just to sore.

Yes I am so happy too that they were able to help him.. I know how you feel there..I can relate in everyway.. My Jim has to see the Cardiolgist every year..and take a tread mill test..Its always a worry that things are alright.
They have come so far in things to help with heart surgery and meds and all of that..Thank The Good Lord for that...Yes we are looking forward to the pool this year..We really missed seeing everyone last year and the pool..We cant wait for opening day....I really like the new pool passes..They took my suggestion from the year before and put them on one of those bracelet spirel thingys...We will use them now from year to year.. No More cards to worry about losing every year..

Hi there. I have a quick post. Robert is on a 1 day suspension now. He told a kid he was going to kill him today. He said he had his hand on a gun in his desk. He also said he was going to sneak up behind him and cut his head off. I am livid right now. I gave him a spanking with the wooden spoon and broke my spoon.:lol: OK it was an old cheap spoon. Jason will not be home until tomorrow morning or late tonight at the earliest. I am taking all toys from his room or rather he is taking them to the back. He is then when that is all done going to the neighbors to do some slave labor. I am just shaking I am so pi**ed. Sorry but I needed to vent to my friends. It is sunny today at least and I have been back OP since Wednesday now.

Daphne the camera I bought on ebay was used but was a samsung and it is really good. A lot better than my HP was. I think my HP camera may just need a camera card in it but not sure. I haven't checked it out yet. I commented on your situation with robert on the other thread. I hope that something can happen for you. We would really be the closest sisters if you lived near me cause we have so many similiarities and I could use an older "sister". :)

Donna I did see the pictures and enjoyed them. Keep it up! I can't believe how HUGE that house is for one man. Does he have plans to move all of you kids in it as well? I live in a 14 x 65 foot mobile home and there's 5 of us. I couldn't imagine having to actually ask "where someone is" . We can see it all from the living room. I think if all goes well with us, come income tax time in late Jan of next year, we may pay off the 401 k loan and get it back out and trade in this home for a double wide with my in-laws help. This thing is in their name anyway and we bought it new back in dec. 1993 and it's a 1994. My sister is building a house that looks pretty big on computer but she says its a 3 bed, 2 bath 1800 sq foot house. I know its only $83,000 house. Must be nice though cause she only has the one child to worry about. Oh well, off that soap box.

I have had one gain so far since really counting my carbs and it was 1 pound about 3 days ago. I knew it was because I had some potato salad and too much bread that day. Then I lost that pound the next day only to remain the same today and I even cut grass with DH yesterday (mostly on riding mower though.) I will watch the carbs a little harder today cause I want SO BAD to see 243 tomorrow. I havent' seen that number in years or any that come before it.

DH is pretty good. This is his long 3 day work weekend that he started this morning. His feet hurt some but not his back or legs. We got his initial bill from the hosp this week that they filed on insurance for about $5200 which wasn't as bad as we thought and I found out that they did a whole body scan on him in addition to the chest ct scan. They would have found anything in that scan if there was anything. I don't know why his feet hurt or what else to do with that. He works on concrete and has to stand nearly all of the 12 hours each day he works.

Summer I"m so proud of you for the exercise and weight loss. Will Jim make his goal come july? Is his Dr. proud of him as well? How are bert and buddy?

Rosey are you still "curving" on a regular basis? I bet you're really coming along as well.

Well this computer is acting stupid like it's going to shut off. My cursor will disappear and i have to make it come back. I had some kinda of virus warning this morning but did a scan to get rid of it. Maybe I need to reboot it. But I need to post this before it's gone.

Dana, I am so glad that your dh is doing good. Still don't know what it was? My Aunt was in the hospital with pains and thought she as well was having a heart attack then they suspected pancreas attack but both were ruled out. She had an MRI done and some other tests to determine if her surgery on her hiatal hernia/acid reflux disease surgery was to blame for the pains but she has yet to hear. So, it is taking a while to find out. At least it wasn't the heart or pancreas. :) My Dad's house is big, but it is deceiving on the pictures. Actually he is only using the first floor to live in. The second floor is mostly attic and storage. He is moving from a 6 bedroom house to a 3. His present house is around 4,200 sq. feet of living space so he is downsizing. I know it's hard to comprehend but I guess it's what ever you are used to. I hope that you will be able to do the double wide next year for you guys would feel nice with more room. How his new house is going to be you never have to wonder where people are because the heart of the house is in the center so you can see all around. I remember moving from out 1,020 sq. ft house to this house at the time (before the bonus room was finished out) to a 1,800 sq. ft house and thinking what am I going to do with all this extra space??? Well, ten years later looking around I think I found out! LOL :lol:

Dana and I have a friend on the other thread that was admitted to the hospital Thursday night. She was to have her gall bladder removed but was having pains for a while now. Her pancrease it swollen and they are working on getting her enzymes down to normal. They are at 1000 now and normal she said was 100. She is scheduled to have surgery today sometime. She is on a waiting list for today. If her pancrease is not swollen at time of surgery she will have the laproscipic on done, if it is swollen she will have the one where she will be cut into. Please keep her in your prayers today. Her name is Deborah and she is a single Mom.
This weekend was busy. Jason didn't come home until Saturday night. He still hasn't talked to Robet about his suspension. I am being a hard *** with it all.

Hello Everyone..
My weekend was good and hetic.. Had to look for Jim some socks that was made for people with diabetes..cause he has big calves that he needs these type of socks with real streachy material..and for big guys and of course they were expensive 10.00 per pair but he needs them..
I have to shop for him at the big and tall shop...He needs both..:lol:..
What A day..whewwww its hot and humid.. I am begging to believe that it will stay this way all summer..but I sure hope not..
I went to see Buddy today.. He is doing good..They are giving him some other kind of treatments not Chemo..The last time they gave him all that Chemo it almost killed him and the Dr. said his body could not take anymore for now..This meds has only a 20% cure rate or help but its better than nothing..He gets it intervenious just like the chemo. He goes to the drs office or hospital to get this new treatment...Its a 4 hour treatment..
His spirts are good and we made plans to get together with some other friends and have dinner this Friday evening..
He is a amazing person..and I pray everyday that he will beat this awful cancer..I also stopped by Berts and checked on her....She is doing good.
Her and Buddy live right around the corner from each other..But they dont know each other..isnt that something..I plan on taking her out for lunch this week..She needs a outing..it makes her happy..
Please keep both of them in your prayers...Thank-you all for being such wonderful and caring friends..

Hi everyone..cant beleave how fast the day has gone..1st went to curves and had a good work out..then shopping for my grdd b-day gift..they make such cute things for kids today and i had a hard time choosing but ended up with barbie stuff as amanda thinks barbies the greatest..then planned a b-day party for my mil.. set up the reservations and called everyone..she will be 83 on wed..so it was kentucky fried for dinner..but i pulled all the good stuff off the chix and had a small amt of coleslaw..my scales show ive lost another 5 # but since no scale weighs me the same im always skeptical..however i feel smaller and saw some pictures of me taken last week and i look smaller..so somethings working.. :lol: mr ken wtg on your loss..did you get your meds straightened out??kris you are the busiest person i know..summer i value your friendship too..daphnee when i get the hang of taking and posting pictures i will post my crafts..hope you get it sorted out with robert..donna thanks for starting the new post see you there..dana hello to you to awsome job on your dieting journey..well as usual this old ladys tired.. to early for bed.. but slippers nighty and a good book sound good.. will check in tomorrow(((((((hugs)))))) rosey:wave:
