Hi I am just going to jump in.
Well today started out go till I started to think about the weekend. I am a stress eater. I am stressing over my inlaws coming over for the weekend. I got in to the kids Halween choclate. I know I should have got rid of it but it is the kids. I know better too.
Well the day started out good and I did a work out and ate well. I am starting a new day tomorw. Things are going to be better.
By the way I have 2 kids girl 4 and boy 2.

11-13-2003, 12:12 AM
Welcome Tanya, I am just the opposite...boy 4 and girl 2. What is your goal weight and where are you at currently? Are you on any specific plan? I am writing today off also and hoping for a better day tomorrow!

Welcome Julie! Looking forward to hearing more from you! I am 20 to 30 pounds from my goal weight also. I'm going for 30 but I may be too old to carry it off (I'll be 29 in less than a month!!!). If so, I will be happy with the extra 10 pounds!

Thanks Ginny! I finally figured out how to get a picture on here, I have a program that shrunk it to a thumbnail. That one is kinda old but the only decent one that I already had on my computer. WTG on your loss!!! I wish I had your determination when it comes to walking. If the sun is not in the right place in the sky, I may not go, forget rain!!!

Misty, that is the dd and me, about 1 1/2 years ago, back before she hated the camera and refused to sit still for a picture. My mom didn't have to have any kind of treatment for her kidney. Her mom was so scared when she got pregnant with me thinking she would have problems, but never did through 3 pregnancies and to this day has never experienced another problem.

Well, I'm only up trying to get dh some pants washed for his little golf tournament thingy tomorrow. It's really sickening that he is going to get paid for working tomorrow when all but 2 hours of it will be spent golfing! How could I work medical billing into a trip to Chuck E. Cheese so I could get paid? Any ideas?!? :)

Hope everyone has a good night! Misty, hope you get some sleep because sounds like you don't have much longer.

11-13-2003, 01:05 AM
Ok, I'm gonna see if I can get a couple pictures on here. I think I am figuring this out, slowly but surely!

11-13-2003, 01:06 AM
Here's DH and kids

11-13-2003, 01:08 AM
Those are more recent, from this past summer. Not very clear though. Spryng, how did you get your pictures so clear? Do you have a digital camera?

11-13-2003, 10:08 AM
Candy so great to see your pictures!!!! Yes I do have a 3.2 megapixel digital camera so the pictures are really good. The ones I posted were actually done in email format so they weren't as good as the originals. I LOVE my new camera. May I ask something?? Were those pics taken of your family done at a convention??? I thought I recognized the name tags.
Ricci thanks for starting the new thread... how are you doing??
Ginny!!!!! I'm so proud of you!! 3 lbs gone and now under 150 lbs!!!! You have come such a long way! I'm actually still reading all of our old posts.. I started at the one I joined at #22 and I am up to #36... whew! Alot of reading but it's fun to see how we have all changed. :) So is it hard to be at 20 pts a day? I may be less than 150 next week and I don't know if I will handle 20 pts very well. I do so great on 22 but I USE all 22 or I'm hungry. Let me know how it goes for you and CONGRATS again!!!
Jen, are you worried about the surgery? I never heard of them removing a thyroid. Is it a common procedure? Since thyroids can really make losing weight hard... especially when they are underactive, how will not having one effect weight loss?
Hi Julie!!! Are you coming back topost with us again? I hope so. And yes I use frozen chicken breasts... I just cook it on high heat instead of low for 6-8 hours. But I have made it with thawed too... just depends on how fast you want it done. :) But either way it comes out well. :) You can also use regular taco seasoning mix if you don't mind the extra sodium. Doesn't change the pt value.
Misty.... how are you feeling today? Did the contractions go away? You should take a long warm bath. That will help relax your muscles and maybe that is what you need to get labor going. Perhaps your DH would give you a nice massage too. You deserve it! Let us know how things go for you today.
Ginny, I forgot to answer your other questions... FIL is coming home friday. I have mixed emotions about this. He is still not doing great but the hospital has given up on him. because he's been a smoker all his life and never managed his diabetes they don't feel like he is worth going the extra mile for. I want him to go get a second opinion but again my MIL won't take him. She hasn't even seen him all week!!!! ok, I promise not to harp on that subject again. But she complains about medical bills and won't make another one to get a second opinion. I feel so bad for him. But he says he going to stop smoking... but he's said that before so we'll see. But yes, he'll be home friday. So will my DH. I can't wait to see him. I want to have a nice weekend with my family.
Ok, I guess I have written enough. I'm just sticking around the house to clean today and that is it. Can't wait until my WI on saturday!
Ok, talk to you ladies later!! :)

11-13-2003, 12:17 PM
Just a fly-by to say :bravo: to Ginny!! :cp: :cp: :cp: Awesome! Babedom here you come!! :D
I have preschool pals this morning with the little ones and swimming this after-noon. BBL (when I can catch my breath!)

11-13-2003, 12:19 PM

11-13-2003, 12:29 PM
Spryng, yes those name tags were from a convention I attended this summer. How did you recognize them?

I just bought a new 35 mm camera that I love but I might get a cheapie digital for putting stuff on the computer.

Emily, what a cutie! What's his name? Have fun swimming! (I take it that you swim indoors!) :)

Gotta run.

11-13-2003, 12:49 PM
Good morning!!!!!!
Welcome Tanya!!! It looks as though you are no stranger to 3fatchicks......but I am glad that you stopped in!!! Have you been reading this thread for a while and just now decided to join us?
How much do you want to lose? Hope you avoided the dreaded chocolate. Good luck with the inlaws visit.......drink lots of water- it helps from eating everything in sight!

Candy- what a beautiful family you have!!!! I love the pics! Medical billing at ChuckECheese's????? Well, lets get creative and see if there is a way~ bring a laptop and a cell phone........hey, at least you can work in your jammies! (I used to tech write from home, so I know a bit of what you can do). How has your day been? I hear ya with the last 10 #. That is how I came up with my goal wgt. I am a few years older than when I was last 140#- but it used to be a comfortable weight, not a super thin one.

Emily- what a cutie!!!!! Love the picture!!!!!:) Thanks for the congrats......hope to hear from you later.

Spryng- my advice for breaking the 150 barrier (and the 20 point level) is keep the 22 points and just reduce the total # of flex points you have a week. Instead of 35, give yourself 25. I found 20 points self defeating- they are used up so quickly, even with activity points added in. I always felt as though I did not have enough points to make any choices- I never felt deprived, just so limited. I am so sorry about FIL- isn't it sad that the Drs have kind of written him off? Each life is precious- I know you know that. Do what you must do so that you know you have done the right thing- for yourself and Dh. If FIL willnot/cannot quit smoking......there is little you can do. We had a similar problem with my FIL- also diabetic, who refuses to monitor blood sugar and eats whatever he wants. (Plus he has emphasema- is skeletally thin...shall I go on???) We bought him a glucose monitor and all the t esting strips- plus a portable O2 tank, and the rest is up to him and MIL. You might have to do the same kind of thing. Good thing that Joe will be home this weekend- I'll pray for comfort for him, as facing all this might be tough. (and strength for you!). Hang in there, you are a fine DIL.

Michele- I sure hope that your lack of posting is good news!!!! We are all thinking and praying for you, Hon!

No walk today- I had to take a break (actually just needed the sleep!!!) I am making the chicken for dinner (crock pot one).
Guess I'd better go get the recipe! Have a great day!

WW tip #8- Track your points in a journal daily. Your leader can use it to discuss with you any problems that may be hindering your success. (added tip from me-also useful as a reminder of a good week when you lost a lot)

11-13-2003, 02:13 PM
Hi everyone What great pictures you all have. Well I have not been reading your e-mails but been on and off this group for a long time. I justed moved 2 weeks ago for the second time. We are now in our house. We moved for my hubbies job and now I live an hour away from my family. Some ways it is harder for me but eating is better.
Well the plan that I have been on is portion control( when I can) Lately it can be hard. I also workout regularly. Aleast once a day try to take on day off a week. I do the treadmill and work out tapes. I was down to 145 but when the move was coming around in May. The stress of waiting to hear if we got the job and finding a house to move into I put on 15 pounds. My totla goal for me would be between 140 to 145. I know once I put my mind to it I will get back there.

11-13-2003, 03:05 PM
Hi Tanya! I think you can definitely get off those 15#'s!! Is it hard living an hour away from your parents? I live 4 hours from any of my family... but most of my family is states away. I'm used to it now though. How do you like your new house? We are thinking of selling soon and moving to a nearby town. We need a bigger house now that we have 3 kids.
Ginny, let me know what you think of the chicken ok? I like it in tortillas but some like it on rice or pasta or alone. How are you making it? Today is left over day for me so I'll be having leftover chicken and cheese casserole for dinner. I really like it. But I made out my meal plan for this upcoming week and I'm trying 3 new recipes. one is a homemade chilli recipe done in the crock pot, and two are pork chop recipes. One of those is a crockpot one too. Those are the easiest meals aren't they?
Candy, are you using a scanner? Your kids are so cute. :)
Well... my day is just flying by. FIL is getting released as we speak. They switched his medicine last night to pills and he tolerated it well so they decided to send him home today. I hope he does ok on the 2 hour ride home.
Talked to DH this afternoon and he has requested a roast for tomorrow's dinner. I thought it was funny. Poor guy eats so much fast food and junk that he can't wait to get home and get a home cooked meal. So I got the roast thawing out. I have to go find out how many points it is per serving though. Ginny do you know?
Ok, I'm off of here. TTYL!

11-13-2003, 03:37 PM
Spryng, yes, I use a scanner and the pictures look good when I scan them in but they don't look so good on here. My kids may be cute but they are rotten! You've got some cuties yourself. I would have never imagined that Eva was 3! She is sooo tiny. I wanted a tiny petite girl but it is not be. Kylie is solid. She's only 2 1/3 and she is already 34 pounds! No fat on that body but she is extrememly athletic, especially for a 2 year old. I'm wondering how you recognized the badges in my pictures...email me about it if you want. (mcbarton@highstream.net) :^: I know you must be excited about DH coming home! I can't imagine having mine gone all the time. I don't know how you do it with 3 kids!!! :strong:

Tanya, glad to have you here. I lived 6 hours away from my family when I first got married and that was really rough. :stress: Now, I am under 20 minutes away from parents and in-laws. We are building a house in the country and then I will be 2 minutes from my in-laws and 7 minutes from my parents. I can't wait! :cloud9: Even with my family here, though I need the support that I have been finding on the Net. It's nice to talk to other moms who are going through the same types of things with same struggles and setbacks but are still striving to reach healthy, happier weights. I have failed at weightloss so many times, I figured it was time to try something different, so here I am.

Well, I've gotta go run an errand or two. Still working on these bikes. Trying to make them look half way decent so noone thinks I stole them and spray painted them to keep them from being identified!!!

11-13-2003, 03:46 PM
 about my picture...I tried leaving one of the 3 boys, but was too big so I tried that one, but didn't even check to see if it worked! Anyway, that's the baby, Ian, taken several weeks ago...he was about 5 months there.

Candy- I wanted to tell you that you have a very nice looking family!! Very cute kids!~ :)

Welcome Tanya! I'm Emily mom to 3 boys 5.5, 3 and 6 mo. I'm also in Alberta! (southern part)

Your dinners sound good Spryng! I love my crockpot too- today I'm trying a new recipe called "Autumn Porkchops"-- onions on the bottom, sweet potatoes, the porkchops and apples on top. Cook with a bit of apple juice and brown sugar and cinnamon on the potatoes and apples. I'll let you know if we like it. It sure smells good!

Jen - hope you are doing well today and Michele, hope you are having a baby perhaps!! Hi to Sandy and Ricci too!

Well, need to feed the kids...bbl

11-13-2003, 04:27 PM
I am so sleep-deprived and bleary-eyed, I can barely see the screen..... but I cannot sleep! Forgive the short reply.... welcome to the newbies. And Ginny, a giant wooooooooo hooooooo to you on the loss and busting the 150 barrier!

Spryng, thyroid removal is not very common, but sometimes necessary. I will have to take replacement hormones for the rest of my life..... hopefully, it won't effect much. Yes, I am nervous...... it is a big surgery. I will learn more tomorrow after I speak with the surgeon.

Sorry, gotta run....... hope everyone is well.......

11-13-2003, 09:09 PM
Emily can you share the recipe for the porkshops (can't remember the name...had sweet potato...etc) please? We raise hogs and I'm always up to my ears in porkchops. I run out of ways to serve them. Your recipe sounds like one I've never tried. Your Ian is a doll btw. Thanks so much for sharing.
Candy love your pictures. You have a beautiful family. My Dd, the <~~ clown is also 2 and very solid. She's like a tank and nearing 34#! My oldest is tall and slinder tho. Thanks for sharing the photos.
Ginny WTG! I'm so glad to see you doing so well. Even with all you are dealing with...Dd and college. Keep up the great work! Oh and wish I could say the reason I wasn't posting today was because I delivered.
Spryng hope you get your quiet weekend with your family and nothing goes array with your FIL and MIL.
Welcome all comers!
I'm still hanging in here. We've had a line of minor criss' on the farm today. The water is still up and Dh tried to drive the farm truck thru a sand berm and got it stuck. He's had a pretty bad day. I'm still having contractions here and there. They don't seem as bad today. maybe I'm just getting use to them. I see the OB again tomorrow. YaY  I'm not happy with them right now. Long story... the jist of it all I think none of the nurses that work for my OB have a brain. Oh that was harsh. I'm just angry. Anyhow I spent the day working on Christmas crafts with the girls. They made some really cute ornament snowmen. It was an all day activity and I'm pretty exausted. My Dh had to call the highway dept to come and fix 2 places where our bridges washed out and pull his truck out of the sand so he's out in the cold with them right now. I want to stay up and wait for him. I'm affraid I'll fall asleep. So guess I'll get going.

11-13-2003, 09:10 PM
Forgot to say hope you are getting some rest Jen. Keeping you in my thoughts. Hope your visit with the surgen goes well.

11-13-2003, 11:08 PM
Here ya go, Michele...I really enjoyed them!!
Talk to you guys tomorrow :)

Autumn Porkchops

1 or 2 pork chops per person
1 small raw sweet potato (or yam) per person
1 apple per person - your favorite kind (we enjoy Rome or Yellow Delicious)
1/2 white or yellow onion per person (or more if your family loves cooked onions)
Salt and pepper
Brown Sugar - Optional
Apple juice or cider

Clean onions and slice - place in bottom of crockpot.

Clean potatoes well and slice into thick slices. Place on top of onions. Sprinkle with a bit of brown sugar and salt if desired.

Rinse pork chops with clear running water, trim off any large pieces of fat and place in crockpot over onions, salt and pepper as you see fit. Peel and slice apples (or leave the skins on if your family doesn't fuss). Place over pork chops. Sprinkle apples with cinnamon and a bit of brown sugar if desired.

Pour in apple juice or cider to cover 1/3 of the mixture. Set crockpot on high for 2 hours, then set to low to finish - will take a good 3 hours or more, depending on how full the pot is. (You may need to experiment with your crockpot size and fullness). Of course, just like any other crockpot meal, it can sit on low after it's finished without harm. Serve to plates right from the crockpot. This is great with buttered brown bread and a leafy lettuce salad.

Hi Ladies! I wanted to join in the thread. I usually post under the TOPS Thread but actually haven't attending a meeting in years......lol But that's where I started out and met the friends I have now.

But I know it is time for a change, esp. since I am at the same weight I was three kids ago.... :dizzy:

My name is Penny, SAHM to three boys :) and home daycare provider. I am 23 (yes, 23 and three kids......lol I know) Yes, I am nuts.... :) I need a fresh start to get my weight loss going again. I was doing Atkins for a little while which was working great, but I am breastfeeding and was worried about the affects!?

Does anyone have any personal experiences. I need to find a plan I stick with and I liked Atkins. Thanks for the advice ahead of time :)

11-14-2003, 12:01 AM
Good evening all!
Boy I am so tired... don't know how big this post will be.
Misty! I was hoping to hear that you were on your way to the hospital!!! Awww... I know you get tired of people saying that. I just hope you have a nice evening and get a good nights sleep. :) I'm thinking about you often.
Welcome Penny!!! I'm Spryng, mother to 3 (ava is 3, bubba is 2 and Tanner is 4 months old) and been married for 5 years now. I'm currently on weight watchers and LOVING it! I'm 23 too!! I get the same reaction... 23 with 3 kids!! But I was married for a year before I got pregnant with #1... I was 19 when I had her. So it's all legit. lol. Boy do I have experiance with Atkins!! Been on it so many times I can't keep up with the count anymore. But i do know induction is too rough for a breastfeeding mother. It can dry your milk supply up. How old is your baby? And I don't know a way to modify it to be ok for breastfeeding. I do know that just increasing your exercise can help you shed weight while breastfeeding. It's so hard to diet because you need all those extra calories to make your milk. But maybe some of the other women have more advice for you. :) Karen, is currently on Atkins and doing fantastic! She may have something to say. But welcome and I hope to see you here more often!!
Jen I'll be thinking about you tomorrow and hope your appointment goes well.
Emily your little boy is sooo cute! I just love babies.
candy, yes Ava is 3, will be 4 NEXT month!! And yes she is petite. She was only 5 lbs 2 oz when she was born at full term. So she's always been small. She weighs about 24 lbs now. Bubba, my 2 yo weighs more than she does! he's 11 months younger.
Ok, I need to get in bed. Have a great night! :)

11-14-2003, 12:02 AM
Oh, Misty? You are 39 weeks today aren't you?? My goodness... any moment now. I'm really thinking about you now! Do you think you'll go to 40 weeks? I can't wait to hear what your doctor says tomorrow! G'nite!

11-14-2003, 12:27 AM
Hey! Thanks for the reply. My little bit is 5 months old and is a nursing fool. I have three boys, Hunter 4, Nicholas 3 and Andrew is the 5 month old. I have absoutely no energy lately. :( Wonder why after writing that last sentence.... lol I think it is the kids making me tired. Just need some motivation to pump me up again. I actually have the 10 week pre paid passes for ww, bought them but I just can't stick with the counting, measuring, tracking etc.

Will check back in later. Have a great night everyone !

11-14-2003, 01:39 AM
Hi Penny and welcome! :) I'm a fellow mom of boys as is Ricci...mine are 5.5, 3 and 6 months so they are pretty close in age! I'm breastfeeding too and it tends to slow my weight-loss down, but I'm committed for a few more months and then we'll see.

I have to admit that I didn't have the best eating day today...I bought some girl guide cookies (same as gorl scouts- Thin Mints)...Ijust had to ...then tonight at Costco I had twist yogurt. It was my first day of TOM and you gals know how it is. Actually I have to say that this month wasn't too bad with the cravings! (Well, aside from today-LOL) Usually I have a week before where I could live on peanut butter and chocolate and I was actually surprised to see TOM this morning. I've been really good about taking my vitamins and a couple supplements so hopefully it's been helping.

Well, I'm really getting off now...I keep puttering tonight and getting back online. I'm so tired though- my early appt. yesterday has caught up with me. SO ttyl!!

11-14-2003, 09:54 AM
Good morning all!
Boy I have a busy day ahead of me. Still getting last minute things done around here before DH gets here sometime today. Then it's off to town to pay bills, send letters, and get some groceries. I'll be running around for a few hours. We are looking into moving so I may be looking at some houses too! I'm so excited about that!! We really need something a little bigger.
Ok, just wanted to pop in and say hello and I'll check back in later today sometime. Have a great FRIDAY!!!! :)

11-14-2003, 11:17 AM
Good morning!!!!!!!
Welcome Penny!!!! Sure sounds like you have a full plate~ 3 children of your own, one nursing and a home daycare provider! Wow! How many children do you take in? And how many #'s are you trying to lose? I can't speak for Atkins- I do know that some (heard this at a WW meeting) complain of fatigue after being on Atkins for an extended amount of time. Here we have Karen on it- and she is doing great and has been successful. I do know that WW (weight watchers) has a program for nursing mothers- and one lady at my meeting is on it ~ complete with a nursaholic 6 month old- and she is doing great and feels energetic (but, then this is her first too!). Ok, I am an advocate of WW- but one thing I can say for it is that it is balanced- all food groups are included.
No, you do not have to attend the meetings- you can purchase the program thru their web site- or even Ebay! And there is plenty of support here, for whatever program you decide to use.
I look foward to getting to know you better!

Michele- man, when it rains it pours......Sounds like you have had just a really tough week- not feeling well, and now problems with your farm. Hang in there, we love you here!!! and are all pulling for the best for you. Forgive me for not mentioning how adorable your picture is!!! Your daughters are so cute- and I really enjoy seeing the pictures as we will most likely never meet! Hope your day goes well.....:)

Emily- thanks for the recipe- it sounds great. I will give it a try next week, as you know I am a big fan of my crock pot. I have been known to have something in my big crock pot, another item in my small one and bread in the bread machine......talk about automatic dinner! Great that the vitamins help (I have found that too). Don't worry about a day or two of not the best eating- start today over fresh and look foward to better food choices.

Jen- my Ds is on thyroid meds for the rest of her life, and I have another friend who is also. Both told me that once the meds are found that best suit you, life is pretty much normal. I willl keep praying for you. How are you feeling? How did the visit with the surgeon go?

Spryng- never a dull one for you, my friend. Now you are looking for a new house? Are you looking to stay where you are or go somewhere else?

As for me, yesterday was a big drain on me, so tiring. Ds is in basketball- so there is the 1 1/2 hours of driving to get him from practice. Good news is that he is the center of the JV team. I am so happy for him! Now if he can just keep his grades up........;)
No walk today yet- I will probably try to sneak in a short one later.
The elementary kids have a half day, so I have to go back out again soon to get the monsters home. Guess I'd better get upstairs and finish the bills and get started on dinner. Have a great day.

WW tip #9 (I love and use this tip!)After dinner, turn out the kitchen lights and literally close down the kitchen (tell that to a constantly starved growing 14 yr old!). If you feel the urge to eat something, you'll think twice about actually doing so.

11-14-2003, 11:24 AM
Iíve been getting to know you all over the past couple of weeks and thought it was about time I introduced myself. Iím Geri from Wisconsin, wife, mother of 2 boys (2.5 & 5 months) and soon to be a SAHM. The company I work for is closing (yeah) and my last day is December 1. I would have kept working full-time if this didnít happen Ö Iíve been here 16 years and have had enough anyway so this comes at a great time for me. I recently turned 40 (yikes, how did that happen!) so Iím a bit older than most of you! At 23 I had no thoughts of being a wife/mother Ö I was too busy hanging out with my friends until all hours of the morning and then going to work a couple of hours later!! I give you ladies a lot of credit for taking on all the responsibility of kids at such a young age. Met my husband through friends 5 years ago and weíve been on the fast track (got married May 2000, had DS1-Will- May 2001 and DS2-Tony May 2003) The May thing is purely coincidental!
Iíve had weight issues all my life. Iíve lost a lot more than once, but gained it back each time. Iíve done WW twice and really like the plan. The cost of the program is too much for me so I joined TOPS in January 2002. Lost over 35 pounds then got pregnant with DS2 and gained that back (but, thankfully, not more than that). I lost 12 pounds while on maternity leave, but Iím in the process of putting that all back one since coming back to work! Itís very stressful to watch people you have worked with for such a long time leave. We had a wonderful department Ė I supervised 6 people up until October Ė now weíre down to just me and my manager. Only about 50 people left all together. So weíve been having lots of food days whenever the next group would leave (the 1st of each month). The work has slowed down to the point of extreme boredom Ö so I munch during the day. ANYWAY, only 2 weeks left then I can concentrate on my boys and getting back on track!! I want to lose 60 pounds.
I canít identify with Micheleís end-stage pregnancy. DS1 was breech so I had a scheduled C-section. Didnít even know that I was having slight contractions when I checked into the hospital. When I got pregnant with DS2 I had a choice. I chose a 2nd C-section because I like to plan everything!! Turned out I was having contractions during my last OB appointment- didnít know it again Ė and Tonyís heartbeat was slowing down with each one. So, had him 5 days before I was scheduled to & it turns out the cord was around his neck! All turned out well and the 2nd C was easier than the 1st!!
Karen, my OB would probably already have done the hysterectomy by now. She doesnít fool around. My closest girl friend had one a year ago and sheís so glad she did. Hope all goes well with you!!
Iíve babbled for quite awhile here. Iíll be posting more after Iím home. Donít have too much free time these days. 2 more weeks, 2 more weeks, 2 more weeks! Iím going to relax for the holidays (as much as I can with 2 boys) and then look for something part-time early next year. Itís going to be tough to cut our income in half but we also wonít be paying for daycare.
Later ladies!

Welcome Penny and Geri!!

I'm Karen SAHM of 2.. ages 7 and 5. I wish I could get more personal now.. but I cant.. gotta get the kids to school...

But I just wanted to address Penny and Atkins. You can do it BF.. there is a way to modify it... Let me get the info when I get back from school and I will post here for you!! I LOVE Atkins.. I have been on it now 3.5 months... induction all this time... My energy has never been higher and I am losing so much weight with it!

I will get back to you on this asap!

OH.. And Julie! Welcome too! I am so glad you joined us on this thread! We've been PM for a little while! :)

Someone wanted the WW points calculation the other day ...don't remeber who, but here goes:

Points = (Calories/50) + (Fat grams/12) - (Fiber grams/5)
Cap fiber grams at no more than 4

Have a good one.:D

Welcome Geri and thanks so much for the formula! It was me that asked fot it...Lots of moms of boys here! You will love staying at home with them- esp. at their ages...lots of fun ahead!!

I guess you know if you've been reading, but my boys are 5.5, 3 and 6 mo. I love being home with them (As long as I get my computer time-lol!)

I'm feeling better today, but have a slight headache...probably from lack of caffiene (I'm trying to cut back-- diet coke, not coffee) I have a lot to do this morning so need to cut this short...I asked DH to pick up the kids from school (I carpool) and take my van so I could clean. SO I'd better clean since he will be home at lunch!!

Have a great Friday everyone and lets all gear up for an OP weekend!!

Good morning everyone.
Welcome, Penny, Geri, and Julie. I am Ricci sahm to two boys, 5 and 3. They are both pretty wild right now. Its cold and rainy and they cant go outside. I hope you all post here often and I know you will find the support you need.
Misty, you poor thing. I hope you do have that baby soon. I know what its like having pork chops all the time. My family used to raise pigs also.
Well, not to exciting around here. I have instructions on how to make a blanket with out sewing. I got the matereal and going to try to make it. My best friend helped me switch couches with my mom yesterday, so now we have a nice leather couch and my mom has an old sectional that will be good for the rest of my siblings. I hope you all have a good weekend.

Good afternoon all!
Just got home. Don't have time to get personal but wanted to welcome Geri!!! Hope to see you here more often!
Misty? Can't wait to hear all about your appointment!!!
Ok, got to go. TTYL!

Welcome all Penny, Julie and Geri!!! I'm Candy, SAHM to Kylie, 2 and Sean 4. I also work full-time from home doing medical billing. This is very supportive group, as I've learned through the past couple weeks here, and hopefully you'll all be able to meet your weight loss goals! :) I am currently enrolled in a program called "CaloriesCount.Com" and I am also trying to walk 10,000 steps a day though that has happened only once! Oh well! I'll keep trying!

Ginny, congrats on the ds's bball though that is some trip you are having to make! Hope you get that walk in this afternoon. It is a bit chilly here though most of you would probably laugh at me for saying that (I had to wear a sweatshirt out today!!! )

Spryng, hope you get everything done before dh gets home! I can't imagine how excited you must be to see him. When will he have to leave again? Let us know how house hunting goes! :^: How many bedrooms do you have now? How many you looking for? We moved into our house before babies and outgrew it not soon after that. We have 3 bedrooms but one is an office for my work so the kids share the "Big" room and we have the little room. Can't wait until we get into the new house. I will actually be able to walk around my bed without bruising my leg!!!

Misty, hope everything is going ok! Has it stopped raining yet? Anymore contractions? I started with contractions at 6 months with both kids and by the time I was a month from being due, they would come at 5 minute intervals for hours! It drove me crazy. I was induced the first time but went into labor on my own the second time. I would definitely recommend going on your own! Are you going "natural" or having an epidural? Thinking about you often and wishing you a speedy and easy delivery!

Hi Emily, Ricci, Jen, Karen and anyone else I may have missed! Hoping you are all having OP days!!! (I am not! :rollpin: ) Hope to do better this weekend!

Well, I'm outta here. Gotta get some work done while dd naps.

Candy, our house is currently 3 bedrooms.. ava and bubba both have their own rooms and Tanner shares with me right now. I want another house that is as least 3 bedrooms (Tanner will share with Bubba when he's a little older) but roomier than this one. I would like two bathrooms and an actual "dining" room instead of an eat-in kitchen. Plus DH wants one with central heat and air (ours in a floor furnace which can be dangerous with kids) so... we just have to see what is out there.
Ginny I think you asked how far we are wanting to move? (I think it was you anyway) not too far. Just right over into missouri. We are about 3 miles from the state line and I wouldn't mind moving over there. We'd be about 45 minutes away from Dh's parents and I think the space will be good for me. But I shop over there some already so I wouldn't mind living there if we can find something we love. So it's just a waiting game right now. :)
Misty? You home yet? maybe they decided to just break your water and admit you today!!!! I can hope anyway, can't I?
Ricci, you'll have to let us know how that blanket comes out. Sounds neat.
Well I have mostly everything done around here. Kids are finally down for their nap and TOM has arrived (afraid about what it might do to my WI tomorrow) UGH. But I'm trying to stay optimistic. Well... guess I'm off here for a short nap too. TTYL!

Thanks for the warm welcome ladies. I think I'm going to fit right in here!
Spryng, TOM and DH coming home? So sorry :o

11-14-2003, 05:16 PM
Well, I survived my afternoon.....but I am so tired. Just wanted to stop in and welcome Geri! I wish I had more time to get personal right now, but I think I will take advantage of the quiet house (just me home for now) and get something done. It's sooooo peaceful here. Have a great evening.

11-14-2003, 05:31 PM
That is so funny Geri! Yes TOM and DH are coming home. lol. I wish TOM would go away and come back monday!!!
Ginny, a quiet house?? I never knew your house was capable of that. lol. Enjoy. I hope your day has been going well.
Ok... my roast is smelling so good. I can't wait for dinner. I'll go see what I can make to go with it. TTYL!

Finally made it home. I was suppose to be here 6 hours ago. It's been a nutty day. Everything fell thru at the last second and I ended up taking the girls to the dr appt with me. Talk about STRESS! Everything is coming together tho. I finally saw the OB after and hr of waiting. And he's decided to do an amnio tomorrow morning to be sure that Baylan's lungs are fully developed, then induction. So next time you hear from me I'll be a new mommy...again! YAY! :jig:
He said with all the contractions and my situation he believes this is best for the baby and me. I'm excited, nervous and exausted all at the same time. So keep us in your thoughts. I need to get some rest. Have a great weekend!

11-14-2003, 10:41 PM
Hi Ladies!

I know how exciting and overwhelming it is anticipating the baby. :) I wish you the most painless delivery!! My youngest *5 mo. was a induced c-section. I'm new, are you having vaginal or c section? I've had two out of three sections. I wish you the best! Congrats Congrats

Congrats on dh coming home! It must be exciting. I bet the kids are excited too :)

Hey Geri!
I remember you from the TOPS board, things are dead there sometimes! And I needed a change from the norm to get a new attitude. Glad to see you again!

You track your steps with a monitor? That must be pretty neat. I am not sure how many steps I go a day, but I could tell you how many poopy diapers I change!~

My daycare kids are 9 mo, 10 mo, 13 mo (drop in) and my kids are 5 mo, 3, 4.

I do have my mom help me during the day. That is the only way I would be able to continue to breastfeed. I just split the childcare money with her for helping me. And it is nice to have another adult around.......

Let me know about the Atkins and bfing. Please :) I did it for a week and lost about 8 pounds. But I did get a bad headache for the first two days b/c of the withdrawals. It is a hard program to follow but it does work

Thanks for the warm welcome. I know what you mean about the kids being wild :dizzy: My boys have a love/hate relationship. I have not gotten my TOM yet and I didn't think you get it while bfing. It's been a while for me and I am glad.

Thanks for the ww tip. I purchased the 10 week membership and went to 2 meetings. I just can't do it. I know my kids will be soon into the sports. I am not looking forward to it at all!

I hope I addressed everyone! Have a wonderful night! I will check in tomorrow :)

Misty, they are inducing you tomorrow?! I'm so happy for you!!! I'm hoping you get a quick and relatively painless delivery!!! How long was labor and delivery for the other two? Hopefully this one is short. Were you more dilated today? Boy I'm happy for you. Don't forget to post your birth story when you get a chance also. i LOVE birth stories!!
Penny, I used to love atkins too. It does work well but I always felt so deprived. I'm such a bread and pasta person. I find WW super easy to follow. Well guess what?! DH just pulled in.... gotta go!! TTYL!

11-15-2003, 01:53 AM
Whoo-hoo- Michele's having a baby!! my 3rd was as painless as they come and I hope the same for you! Can't wait to hear.
Hope you all have a great weekend, I'm going to bed!

11-15-2003, 09:57 AM
Hello everyone,

Misty, hope everything is going well!

Hi Penny, I remember you too. I need just as much support from Mom's as I do for weight loss :dizzy:

I would attach pictures of the boys, but someone will have to tell me how to! I can't figure it out :^:

It's supposed to be cold & crappy here this weekend so we'll have to find inside things to do. All Ds1 wants to do is watch Toy Story all day. It gets a little annoying!!! Ds2 is trying to learn how to crawl - then I'll be in trouble :D :D

Take care everyone!

11-15-2003, 10:11 AM
Good morning all!!!
Great news on my WI! I lost 2.5 lbs!!!!! I'm now 149.5!!! I didn't think I would break out of the 150's this week, but I guess I did!!!! Ginny I now go down to 20 pts a day right? I'm so excited!!!!
Ok, gotta get around and get some breakfast made. Have a great saturday all!! Misty I'll be thinking about you all day!!! Hug that little boy for me too!
