Ruth,
It must be very difficult for you to see your daughter in that relationship. I hope that she'll soon find the strength to drop him, and realize she deserves better.

It's incredible that Thanksgiving is only two weeks away! We're hosting Christmas this year, and I'm determined to not make myself crazy...yeah, right! Haven't even begun Christmas shopping yet.

Hope everyone's having a great Monday

Good afternoon buddies:wave:

I'm sitting here counting the hours before I'm outta here. Tomorrow I'm off. :cb:

Ruth, I felt stressed out just reading about this guy!!! Your daughter has to let go of him asap before he hurts her. I was in a abusive relationship when I was younger & believe me you're always walking on pins & needles. It won't stop until she makes up her mind to leave him for good. I will pray for her.

Jen, I can't believe Thanksgiving is almost here. I'm having my sister over with her husband & David. David invited "a friend" over but she has plans & will stop by for dessert. I have to work the next day. What a bummer!

Till later:grouphug:

Morning ladies,

Thank you for your words of encouragement where my daughter is concerned. Zoe, I can only imagine how you must have felt finding out about the situation that your daughter had been in. At least she had the sense to get away. I constantly worry about my daughter and only hope that she comes to her senses soon. I think the reason she stays is that she doesn't believe she can find anyone else. She is 22 with three young children. I keep telling her that she doesn't need a man that she is strong and capable and needs to focus on herself and her babies.

Yikes, Thanksgiving is closing in fast. My mother and her boyfriend or bringing the turkey to my house this year. I guess I'll make my old standby, a yam bake and string bean casserole. Darn I'm getting hungry just talking about food.LOL

Well, have to run, I'll check in later this afternoon.

OH, DIANNE, I forgot to congratulate you on your loss. Keep up the good work.

Ruth

Good morning guys:

Es - I bet this is one Tuesday you like - since you're off:lol: Enjoy your day.

Ruthie - I'm sorry to hear about your daughter's situation. In addition to the fact that it could turn violent for her, she needs to think about whether she wants her children to grow up in that kind of home. Unfortunately, the kids are the ones who suffer the most. I hope she can get some professional help - speak to people who have been through this and can give her some advice and hope. I feel bad for you - I know how much this must be hurting you.

Jen, yes, thanksgiving is fast upon us and Christmas won't be too far behind. :yikes:

We are going to spend Thanksgiving with Darren and his family - won't get to see Jessa though - Lisa is spending thanksgiving with her mom. I went out to run some errands on Sunday and when I got back Willie told me there was a message for me. It was from Jessa - she said "Dan, where are you", I need talk to you - OMG she's so cute! :smug:

Hi to ZoeGirl, Sandy, Terri and Janie.

Hope you all have a great day.

Hugs,
Dianne

WILL DO!!!! Trying to play hide and seek huh?

Congrats on the loss Dianne. Wonderful.

Jen,
I'll bet Brandon was so happy with his stuff. Great grandparents.

Ruth,
I am so sorry about your daughter. I would be afraid of what I would do with my temper. I cannot imagine.
It is good that she has a family that supports her. You too Zoe.
My kids will always have a home to come home to.

Zoe,
Good luck. I know you will do it.

Es,
I have a couple things for Christmas. I will do more this Friday.
Good luck with your shopping. I still have one that wants to believe Santa is real. He is really questioning it this year.

My boys and I are were waiting for Brittany and Bruce to get off their flight from Ohio and in came a family with signs. One said "He's back from Iraq" and the other said "My dad's a stud." They were sitting and talking and when they announced that his flight landed they got on the edge of their seats and started acting fidgety. The teen daughters started crying and they saw their dad coming down the hallway and all 3 kids ran to him and all of us (about 100 people) waiting for others broke out in applause. I was crying and so were many others. It felt so good. There was a big sign at the airport welcoming soldiers home. I hope more can come home soon at least for a while.

TTYL,
Terri

Terri,
What a wonderful scene you witnessed at the airport! I am moved to tears whenever they show soldiers being reunited with their families on the news.
A woman I know has a daughter serving in Iraq; she was home last month for 14 days then had to return. All she wanted to do was soak in the bath while she was home.

Hope Bruce and Britts enjoyed their trip.

okey dokey....here is my post from the last thread. I'll post something new tonight.

Thank you all for your encouragement. I feel really great.
I think I'm actually back on track. After what I think could be described as MONTHS of being off program, I have been perfect since going back to WW on Saturday morning. Now, it's not like I stopped going to the WW meetings.....I just would miss 2 weeks in a row and then go back, not wanting to weigh. I think I told y'all that I did weigh and it was quite bad but I feel great knowing that I am setting my mind again. I have to say that there IS something in the leader of the meeting you go to. I mean, this last one was good, she was ok but nothing like Marsha whom I started with. I've been to WW many, many, MANY times and never stuck as long as I had with Marsha. So that in itself makes me feel wonderful.

Ruth ~ your daughter is in my thoughts and prayers. My daughter had been in a realationship that was awful but at the time, I didn't know it. She lived in FL and me here in TX. She didn't tell me much until she finally got away. I say got away because that's what it was. She had to get the sherriff to go with her to get her stuff. Only after she finally broke free and he didn't know where she was, did she tell me some of the stuff. I was so upset......I mean, fighting and telling her to get out. Then when we was packing her stuff, holding a gun to her head so she wouldn't go. Scary.....he's in jail and she's so happy it's over with.....sorry to go into that but just know that I am praying for her.

Jen & Terri ~ thanks for your welcome back and encouragment. I really appreciate it.

Dianne ~ WTG on that loss!! I didn't realize that you were so close to goal once too. It's so disappointing to know that I was so close but heck, we're heading back, right.....and that recipe sounds great! I'm going to make it tomorrow.

Es ~ I can never resist a Chinese buffet.....my weakness.

Morning ladies,

Gosh, TERRI, you made me cry. I was reading about the scene you witnessed at the airport, now I'm sitting at a computer at school with tears running down my face!! Of course it is tears accompanied by a smile!! Glad Britts and Bruce made it home okay. Well, tonight is Survivor night. I will have to leave my husband a note to record it for me. Are any of you watching the show "The Average Joe"? This cute girl is there to meet someone. Well instead of bringing out all this nice looking men, they bring in all these underdog types. I'm watching, but I'm not sure how I feel about it. I don't think I would like being on a show knowing I'm there because I'm a nerd, overweight or whatever.

I had a nice visit with a cousin of mine yesterday. She lives in Florida but was in town visiting relatives for a few days. I had not seen her since her mother died in 1986. I couldn't believe how much she looked like her mother. I enjoyed the visit. It's funny how visiting with family takes you back to your childhood.

Well, time for class. Take care

Jen and Ruth,
That scene at the airport made an impression on me. I am not taking one day for granted with my family anymore. That 4 months that Bruce was in Co. without us was hard enough and he was in a nice place. I cannot even imagine.
Jen, I hope your friend's daughter makes it home again for good.
I heard there were a lot of hail storms yesterday in the midwest. Did you get anything? I hope not.

Ruth,
I don 't watch that show but I saw her being interviewed by Matt Lower and she said it was the best experience. She loved those guys. She said they were just the type she has always dated. She said "I am not a shallow person." She seemed sincere.
Yes, it looks like they might be targeting Rupert tonight so don't miss it. I hope he wins immunity.
I am so glad you visited your cousin. Family is so important.

Zoe,
I know you can do it. You just hit a bump in this long journey. Actually the journey never ends. Lots of speed bumps ahead for all of us. Good luck. Enjoying your house?

I just got done doing the WW get Fit DVD. I love that 1/2 hour.

Terry,

Yes, family is so important. I am an only child so sharing time with extended family members is really fulfilling. As a child I was only close to a few of my cousins who were close to my age and lived near-by, but as an adult I have bonded with a few of them that were either several years older or younger than me. Sometimes they feel more like sisters than cousins.

I will make an effort to get home tonight, even if it means living the class early. In fact, he is so straight from the book, I could probably miss the class!! Oh, he is giving back a test, guess I have to go to class after all. LOL

Talk to you later,
Ruth

Hi guys:wave:

I'll come back later but for now I have a quick question - does anyone know how many points a hershey's kiss is??? I just had 2 of the dark chocolate from one of my co-workers and I'm not sure how to count them. But I sure DID know how to EAT THEM!!!

Thanks,
Dianne

Dianne,
2 kisses are 1 point. 9 are 5 points.

Ruth,
That is great that you are all close. Good luck on that test.
Hope it is a good grade.

Terri,
I wouldn't ever want Joe to be out of town for an extended period of time; I often thought about how you must have missed Bruce.
We didn't have hail yesterday, but did have tremendous wind storms. Our power went out, but for only a few minutes. We couldn't find a single flashlight....turns out Matt has been "borrowing" them and hiding them in the toybox :s:

Ruth,
Hope you can get out early, and relax, plus get to see Survivor. I don't even want to think of Rupert being voted out. He is the best.

Dianne,
GOOD JOB on stopping at two kisses!! It's great to not deny yourself, but to know when to stop....and it only cost you a point :D

I've begun the ardous task of painting the dining room. First I had to empty the huge closet in it that holds all my linens, overflow kitchen items, gift wrap,etc,etc,etc....Joe built more shelves and I just finished painting the whole thing. Next is moving out the furniture; we'll have to live with it in the kitchen for about a week :( but it will be worth it, to have it finished for the holidays.

I got home in time to see the very end of Survivor. I was thrilled to see that Rupert had won immunity. If he ever looses it from this point on, he will probably get voted out. The two guys have figured that they will never get past Rupert and the 2 women.

Talk to you girls tomorrow.

Jen,
That is to cute about Matthew and the flashlights. Bradley used to throw our keys in the trash everywhere we went. If we couldn't find them at a friend's house we'd go to their trash and the people are like OK is that the first place you always look? Little ones are so cute. :s:

Ruth,
You are right about Rupert. He is gone if he loses immunity. I couldn't believe he gave up his breakfast. If only he knew what they are all planning. Even Christa and Sandra are talking about getting rid of him. :( Did you see where the Morgan tribe even voted Ryan O. out?

Good Saturday Morning!!

Well, this morning is WI ~ my first since getting back on track. I experimented this week.....I ate ALL of my flex points. Since I've aready weighed in bad, I figured it was worth a try. I'm sure that I'll lose something, just maybe not alot. We'll see. I'm a little nervous.

Dianne ~ On the KISSES....I aways remember then to be 1 pt for 2 KISSES. Recently though, when checking (or should I say RE-checking) the package, it came to 1 pt each. I am so upset but I think, even according to WW's website, they are 1 pt for 2, 6 pts for 10. (go figure)

I will be back later ~ after I get home this afternoon from WI. Thanks for all the encouragement.

Love,
Me <><

Oh, on the Survivor topic......

I am shocked each week by something. Rupert.....for some reason, I really like him. He's strong ~ but now, I feel so sorry for him because they are all plotting against him and he's being SO nice....(giving up that breakfast, etc.) And his own FRIENDS!! :( Boo!!

Anyone watching AVERAGE JOE?

Jenny523
11-15-2003, 10:35 AM
Hi all

Rupert seems to know how to "play" people, probably due to his interaction with trouble teens? I'm amazed that for as savvy as he appears, he's not seeing that he's being back-stabbed by the others....especially Burton! I don't think he should have given away the breakfast, but rather, taken one of the girls w/him in order to ensure their alliance.
It gets more nerve-wracking each week, that's for sure!!!

The kids were supposed to come over today to celebrate my son in law's bday, but Brandon is ill with a stomach flu :(
At least it'll be a more productive day in terms of getting things done around the house.

hope everyone has a good weekend.

Happy Saturday everyone

ZoeGirl - thanks for the info on kisses - maybe I'll just always stick to 2 so I don't have to worry about anymore:lol: Good luck on your wi. I think you will do well with the flexpoints. I seem to be doing okay with them. I usually save them for the weekend.

My wi this morning showed another 1 lb. loss - for a total of 8.2 lbs. in 5 weeks. I'm happy with that - but I know I need to get back into exercising - since its cold now I'll probably do the walk away the pounds tape.

Sorry I can't get into all this survivor stuff - so I can't relate to Rupert  I did watch the show about the "beautiful girl and the "regular" guys the first night it came on, but I didn't quite like the whole idea of making fun of "geeks, etc." - that kind of turned me off - I think Ruthie, you mentioned watching it too, do you still?

Hey Es - what's up amiga? How are you doing?

Jen - Sorry to hear about Brandon and hope he gets better quick.

Hi to Terri, Janie and Sandy.

I don't know if I told you guys but willie took a job with TSA - Federal Govt. - Homeland Security, at the airport (which is 10 mins from home). He'll be checking luggage for bombs :yikes:. Its a part time job and they told him he won't see weekends or holidays off for at least 4 months :( :(. Which means he'll miss Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve! I don't know how long he'll last, but we'll see.

I gotta get my butt off this computer - I've been selling my nephew's used video games (he has tons) on Amazon and its taking me forever. Gotta start cleaning this house :yikes: - my favorite thing in the world to do - NOT!!!
Talk to you's guys tomorrow. Have a good saturday!

Hugs,

Dianne

I eat kisses all the time. According to the package they are 9 for 5 points so it works out to be about 1 point for 2 kisses.

I love Rupert too. I hope he keeps winnning immunity. That is how Rich won in the first one.

Jen,
I hope Brandon is ok. Poor baby.

Dianne,
Congrats on your loss. Way to go. :bravo:

Hope you did well Zoe.

Britts joined again today. We are going to do the WW video and see if she likes it. The boys are camping with Bruce with the scouts so we are by ourselves. We are going to watch
Something about Mary and Animal House later. We bought the special DVD's. I have 2 tootsie pops waiting for me so I won't be tempted to eat a lot.

Have a great weekend.

Dianne,
Whooo-eee! :cb: You're doing a great job, congrats on another loss! :cp:
How does Willie like the job? Missing holidays and weekends due to work can be a bummer, but some of the most imortant jobs require that. We grew up with my Dad being at work on various holidays, sometimes even on graduation days, etc ., unless he could make a rare switch with a co-worker (he was a firefighter).

Terri,
Animal House is out on a special dvd? While we don't purchase many movies, that's one I would like in our collection.
Tootsie Pops are the best!

Es,
how're you doing? Joe and I have slacked off on our daily walks as it's become wetter/colder. I know you are probably working out faithfully every day.

Good Morning ~

Well, I did do pretty good at WI yesterday, lost 5.5 lbs. Woo Hoo!!!! I guess eating ALL my flex points didn't hurt me AT ALL! :-) I've already done that again this week but heck, if it works, that's okay with me. Last week, I ate all my flex pts on Saturday and I did that again yesterday. <sigh> I just have to be on target all week. I will surely save them for T-day in 2 weeks.

Dianne ~ Woo Hoo to you too!! You are really on a roll here.....(ugh! don't say roll.... ....) Keep up the good work.

I hope everyone is doing and feeling well. Gotta run and pay my bills so I know how much money I have left to do some Christmas shopping. I just LOVE the Christmas season!!

Have a blessed Sunday.

Love you's

WOW ZoeGirl - 5.5 lbs lost - fantastic! What a great way to begin again :bravo:  Oh, and by the way you can say "roll" as long as you put "tootsie" before it:lol:

Speaking of tootsie roll pops, Terri - how many points are they? And are they the smaller version of what we were used to as kids or the same size? Thanks for the info - I feel like I've started all over again and forgotten half of the stuff on points:o

Hi Jen - Is Brandon better today? Oh and forgot to say yesterday :hb: :gift: to your son-in-law. Willie seems to like the job so far, he's still in training, but now its actually "on the job" training as opposed to classroom. He's coming home with all sorts of tips to traveler's on what to pack and not to pack, etc. Its amazing the things that will set off an alarm when they're checking your bags, i.e., spray deodorants or hairspray cans, etc. and they said not to put a lock on your bag because if there's any alarm when your bag goes through screening, they will cut the lock off, look in your bag and put everything back, but not as neatly as you did when you packed. And NEVER put film, used or unused in your bag - put that in the carry-on luggage, because when it goes through the big Cat-Scan machine, the film usually gets ruined.

Es, mi amiga, what's up. I feel like I haven't seen you around in awhile. Everything ok? How are susie and sammy doing? Still playing nice?

Hi Terri - Congrats to Britts on going back to ww - I wish her lots of good luck. Are you still on maintenance now? And, how does that work - do you get a higher points target for the day?

I reached goal so many years ago and stayed at goal for 4 years; I can't believe I'm starting over at the same weight I was 8 years ago when I first walked in to ww. Oh well, the important thing is I'm back on track and heading back to where I want to be. Can't think about what happened in the past right?

Hi Ruthie, Sandy and Janie - How are you guys doing?

Have a great sunday everyone!

Hugs,

Dianne
