Welcome to a thread full of laughter and support as we try to maintain a household, raise a family and lose weight. Feel free to join right in, all newcomers are welcomed and regular posters too. Hope to see you posting often! Have a great OP day!!

Good evening gals! All you newer gals, it seems to work out better for some of us to start a new thread when we get to 3 pages. My computer takes forever to load when the site gets so many posts too. So just in case you were wondering :)
Well... its flooded here :( I'm doing my best to just sit right now so I don't start any labor. Right now if I did go into labor the only way out is if they landed a helicoter in my field. It's happened before, a hunter fell out of a tree stand a few years ago and there was to much snow on to get a vehicle back here so they care flighted him out. I'm trying to be positive :) Dh is still at the university. He will have to hike over the moutain to get home. I'm venting....
Dd#2 has been a nightmare today. She has thrown tantrums and she ran in the bathroom this morning and slammed the door, the mirror flew off and shattered in a million pieces. Its a complete work of God that she didn't get a scratch on her. I'll be glad to put her to bed tonight.
:dizzy: with all the excitment I still haven't gotten our bags packed for the hospital. Well I have to get the kids in the tub. Hope you all are having a nice evening.

11-05-2003, 07:29 PM
Michelle - you have had it rough today!!! I hope this finds you feeling a bit better!

I thought I would check in... I am waiting to hear from my OB/GYN. I finally got a call from the nurse who asked me a million quetions and then had to go back to the doctor.... I am feeling crummy and very very crampy. DH is on homework duty tonight because I am so exhausted. Although I did go to the gym this morning! :) And very proud that I did!

Having TOM 3 times in less than a month is wiping me out!

11-05-2003, 09:29 PM

Spryng- gee that is awful about FIl~ and Dh must be devastated too. I will keep both of you in prayer. As far as MIL goes, she sounds an awful lot like my MIL. Anytime she is not the center of attention, she can't handle it at all. How did the diet coke chicken turn out?

Sandy- good that you did not get a black and blue eye.

Michele- thanks for starting a new thread. Congrats on dilating!!!!!!! Sounds like Baylor will be making his appearance soon! I hope that Dd #2 has settled down a bit. Is she apprehensive about the impending birth of her brother????

Karen- you poor thing- TOM 3 times in a month!!!! Did the Dr ever call you back? (are you taking vitamins? I sure hope so).

The weather was crummy here, so my afternoon went so slowly.
Thanks to all of you for sympathy with regards to Dd. She was a bit less agitated this evening. It does look as though I will be visiting a school with her this weekend, and some sanity has settled back in to her -well a small amount. She is now asking how far each school is from home (about a week ago she did not care, and while she might have a bellache with me or Dh she will sorely miss her little sister if she goes too far away). So, maybe she is slowly turning a corner here.
Gotta go!!!! Spryng I will continue to pray for your family crisis.
Take care.

Good evening all!
The diet coke chicken turned out great! very tasty and easy to make. Would you like the recipe? I'll post it if anyone is interested.
Karen, I hope the doctor got back with you and things get better. Are you having alot of pain again with TOM?
Misty, I'm sending you "NO LABOR" vibes until that flood clears up . That would make me nervous too. How long does it usually take for the water to subside? Hope that your dd got better as the night went on. But I feel for you. I have those days where I count the minutes until bed time just for some peace and quiet. My ds has been a little better today but still a handful. Maybe it's just the boy in him?? :) I'm hoping he outgrows it.
Well my day has went fine. I haven't heard anymore on FIL. Still waiting. But no news means no bad news so that is good. I'll settle for that right now.
Well I need to call DH and get in bed. Hope everyone has a great night and I'll chat with you all tomorrow! G'nite!

11-05-2003, 11:58 PM
I'm just about to go to bed. Just thought I'd check in and see how Spryng was with the FIL. Glad your chicken turned out well. I'd like to see the recipe.

Ginny I'm glad some sanity is settling back in. I'll keep you and your Dd in my prayers also.

Karen I do hope you will be feeling better soon. I can't imagine how draining it must be. I'll keep you in my prayers too hon.

Dh made it home tonight. Gosh I was glad to see him. He said the water was scarey it was so high. But we've seen much worse. It has finally stoped raining. Usually it takes about a day and a half for the water to come down. But Dh will be home on the farm all day tomorrow. That relieves alot of my stress.
As for Dd, she turned back into her natural kissy faced self soon as her daddy came in the door. So frustrating that she can just switch like that. But I was glad the reign of terror was over. We ate dinner and spent the rest of the evening putting together wood puzzles and legos.
I'm having tons of pressure and pains tonight. Its unusual too because I really took it easy today. So if I slip away for a few days you will know why. Just keep us in your prayers for a safe trip to the hospital and a speedy painless delivery  Nighters gals!

11-06-2003, 01:20 AM
Good luck Michele! Hope baby Baylend (? sorry if that isn't right) makes his appearance soon. Hope the water goes down fast too!

Karen you poor thing! That is just SO not fair- once is bad enough, imo. Hope you are feeling better!

Spryng- any word on your FIL? I am so sorry you are going through this and the issues with how MIL is acting as well! How stressful. How did you do your chicken? We just had shredded bbq chicken sandwiches on buns tonight. The sauce was pre-made and really good tangy bbq- not so hickory or whatever. I really liked it.

Ginny- glad your dd is settling down a bit. It is a stressful time of life- hope you guys have a fun trip this weekend!

I spent the morning with my ds at his kingergarten- it was a hoot. It was my "observation day and parent- teacher interview day" He's doing really well and loving school. Tonight I had a baby shower to attend and a Mary Kay party. Both were fun and I only had a tiny piece of apple crisp :)

Hope all you have a great night. I'm off to bed

11-06-2003, 10:11 AM
Good morning all!
Well I did get some news on FIL this morning finally. Looks like they'll be doing the surgery sometime today. So I guess that test they ran yesterday showed he'd be able to withstand the surgery. I'm so glad. I'll be waiting all day to hear how it goes. But I feel much better about it all. If they can do the surgery then his chances of recovering and living a normal life again is much better. I'm so happy and I thank you all again for your thoughts and prayers.
Misty... still feeling all that pressure? I hope you have a quick (well not too quick, you need time to get to the hospital :) ) and easy delivery. And glad that dd got better once DH came home. Kids are strange creatures sometimes, lol.
Emily sounds like your day went well yesterday. And I will post that recipe after I get done with this post.
Well I have nothing planned today. I need to do some laundry but I'm just not motivated. Maybe I will be later. I'm looking forward to my WI saturday though, I peeked at the scale on tuesday and it was a nice suprise so I'm anxiously awaiting my official WI!!
Well, guess I'll get off here and get my day going. I hope we all have a great day! TTYL!

Diet Coke Chicken
4 skinless boneless chicken breasts
1 can of diet coke
1 cup ketchup
1 T cornstarch

brown chicken breasts on both sides in large skillet. Mix diet coke and ketchup together then add mix to chicken in skillet. Simmer 20 min. remove chicken and add cornstarch to thicken on high heat.
Serve over rice or pasta.

Pts equal the number of ounces in your piece of chicken. Add points for the rice or pasta. and that is it! Very easy and was very tasty. Serves 4.

Hi Gang -

Just a quick report, I talked to the nurse practitioner last night.. she wants the doctor to review my chart and symptoms. They are a little concerned with the fact I just had surgery 3 months ago... so since he was out I have to wait until today. Ginny I am taking vitamins, and although I dont think I am anemic or anything, I am a little more tired than normal. I do have lots and LOTS of cramping not a whole lot of Pain per say, but my lower back is very sore.

The gym seems to help with the cramps for a couple of hours afterwards.. but then it all comes back again...

I will check in later.. gotta get the kiddos to school then off to the gym.

11-06-2003, 11:34 AM
Karen I hope you hear something soon. What do you think they can do about it? I hope you get some real relief. And enjoy your time at the gym today. I have a question about your signiture. How do you get the colors??? Your stats are looking so good. Keep up the good work.
Well, I'm still moping around the house. I'm making meatloaf for dinner tonight. I like to make it at least once a week because I love to make sandwiches out of the leftovers! But I really prefer it with lean ground beef instead of the chicken or turkey. My kids love it and so do I. Plus it's so easy to make. Love that!
Ok, getting off here. Have a great day all!

11-06-2003, 01:42 PM
Hi girls!! I might have to cut this short. Dh is home today and we've had a minor crisis here on the farm... not to worry we all are fine. We had to pur a hog down and are scrambling to find away to smoke and prepare her. I had to sit down for a bit tho. I've still got all this pressure and some shooting pains in my legs but no contractions.

Spryng ty for the recipe. It sounds really good. I might give it a try next week. Oh and I'll say a special prayer today for your FIL that his surgery is a success. Is your DH able to be there with him or is he on the road?

Well girls I'm being called out. Hope you all are having a nice day. I'll be back later.... I'm thinking about you Ginny, Karen and Emily :)

11-06-2003, 02:06 PM
Spryng, your FIL is in my prayers. My grandfather had a quad bybass 6 yrs ago. I know how hard it can be on the family. Misty, I hope you have that baby soon. I am still here, just having some computer problems. I will check back later, hopefully can post a longer message.

11-06-2003, 03:39 PM
Hi! It's me again! lol.
Misty, you can always pack that pig up and send it to me!! :) JK. It's been a long time since I've had fresh pork. But I remember how good it was. Take it easy though. No need to feel terrible when it isn't labor. And no, DH can't be with FIL today. He's stuck in Ohio. But I'm sure he is checking in with him and the hospital constantly. But if something bad happened his company would get him home. They are a very family oriented company.
Ricci, I look forward to a longer post from you! Hope your computer acts better.
Ok so half the day is gone and I have nothing to show for it. I did find some great pork chop recipes I want to try (getting tired of chicken constantly, need a change) and I wrote out my grocery list. So I guess that is something. But laundry still calls out to me and dishes are piling up. I just don't feel up to anything right now. I think I will steal a nap and hopefully feel peppier afterwards. Hope everyone's day is going well!!! TTYL!

11-06-2003, 04:08 PM
Spryng- to get color- you need to click on "post reply" instead of the quick reply..for signatures I suppose you just need to know the codes... (edited to say it wouldn't let me put the codes in...but you can see them if you post with color)

I am so tired! I have been behind on sleep all week and have low-energy so not a lot is getting done this week

I need to get some stuff done while the baby is asleep and get off of here...

11-06-2003, 04:36 PM
Spryng to add color you put this ---> color=red (or what ever color)<--- inside [] BEFORE the words you want in color. then after the words you want in color you put this ---> /color<--- again inside [] Make sure you use the square brackets!!!

I am still waiting!! THe Dr called while I was at the gym!!! I called back, but he was still seeing patients.. so I am hoping he will call soon! He sounded really concerned though on the message!

I will keep you all posted..

BTW, Spryng.. How is you FIL?

11-06-2003, 05:01 PM
Thanks Emily and Karen for the color tips. I knew how to get color when I posted but had no idea how to get it in my signature. Thanks Karen.
Hopefully that doctor calls you soon. I am such an impatient person.. I hate waiting for anyone. I'm still waiting to hear news on FIL too. I don't know if he's having the surgery today or not. They said if they could fit him in today they'd do it today... but if not then tomorrow. But no one has called to let me know... so I'm waiting.
ok, guess I'll get off here. I ate lunch a couple of hours ago but I feel like I am starving for some reason. So I need to go find a low pt snack. TTYL!

11-06-2003, 05:37 PM
I am utterly exhausted (worked last night) and am on my own tonight with the kids, as dh is out with "the guys" to the movies. I am getting ready to take them out to eat, since it is easier than trying to come up with something to cook and dealing with them all through the "Witching hours". But I wanted to pop in and let everyne know I am thinking of them today..... especially Spryng and her family, Michele and the baby, and Karen with her pain.

Take care ladies....... I will be back tomorrow, after sleep........ :)

11-06-2003, 10:27 PM
I haven't been feeling too sporty today but I have logged on a couple times to see how everyone was doing:

Spryng, hoping everything works out with your FIL. I told my DH about your MIL and he said, "Which hospital is he at? We'll go see him!" It really upset him that a wife could treat a husband that way, especially when I told him how long they had been married! I hope she comes to her senses before it is too late!

Karen, so sorry to hear about your TOM troubles. If it is any consolation, I work for a gyn/oncologist, and often those types of problems turn out to be fibroids or some other benign problem. Painful but treatable. Hope you hear some good news back from the doctor. I know personally now frustrating it can be to have something wrong with no solution!

Michele, Hope that baby holds out for better weather. You can't wait for them to come, then you need just a litttle more time. Babies never seem to cooperate. After that baby boy's been here for a bit, I'd like to pick your brain on the pros and cons of having a third. I am seriously considering it next year!

To everyone else, have a great night and be safe.

Since I wasn't feeling well today, I didn't get any exercise but I didn't eat a whole lot either so hopefully I won't be messed up too bad for the week. Hope to be feeling better tomorrow as I have a gyn appt in the morning :o and have to take the kiddos out to the country for my DM to watch. Can't wait until we get our house in the country built. Then I will only be 2 min from DMIL and 5 minutes from DM. I can't wait! :)

Good night all!!!

11-07-2003, 12:05 AM
Good evening all!
Well just found out that FIL will go in for a double bypass at 8 am tomorrow. I'm hoping and praying all goes well. I know bypasses are common but because his diabetes is so out of control they consider him a high risk surgery.
SIL wants to watch the kids tomorrow so I'll be having a day to myself. Boy I need it. I think I will just go shopping and have a quiet day to myself. I'll be thinking about FIL all day I'm sure.
Well I wish I could get more personal but I'm beat. I'll chat more tomorrow! G'nite!

11-07-2003, 09:52 AM
Good morning, girls. :)

Spryng, I will be thinking of you and your FIL today..... please let us know how he does. And enjoy your day to yourself. I know your mind will be on FIL, but it will be good to spend some time with just you.

Candy, so you want a third, huh? Well, I can only speak for myself, but I love having three kids, and I only "wanted" two! I had complications with my second pregnancy and was advised not to have another child. DH and I agreed that we were blessed with two healthy children and would stop there. But, "someone" had other plans for our little family, and along came Tyler. :) He is the sweetest little boy, and I could not imagine life without him. That is not to say 3 kids does not pose any challenges. Someone once told me that going from 2 to 3 kids is like going from a one-on-one to a zone defense! Boy, is that the truth! I did find that going from 2 to 3 was a much bigger adjustment than going from 1 to 2. But, it is easier now that my older 2 are in school and young ds is out of diapers.

Karen, I hope you heard back from the doc yesterday. Please let us know what is up. I hope you are feeling better today.

Michele, Ginny, and everyone else...... hope you guys are well. Check in when you can. :)

Well, I have both boys home with me today, as older ds is not feeling well. He has been battling a cold all week, and I decided he should stay home today and rest. I had errands to run, but nothing that can't wait for the weekend. I can get some cleaning done around here instead, and he can stay in his jammies and play Playstation all day, if he likes. I just hope young ds is nice to him. My little guy has gotten used to having Mommy all to himself during the week while his siblings are off at school.

Well, off to the shower.... have a great day! :)

Hi!! New to This Board
Hello!! I was referred here after posting on the diet buddy board. My name is Denise, and I am a 37 yo mom in Michigan. I have 2 dd, Sophia (19 months) and Anneliese (2.5 months). I just went back to Weight Watchers 6 weeks ago, and have lost about 8 pounds so far.

I was OP in 2001, before my wedding. I lost 38 pounds, but two pregnancies have done their number on me. I am down to 230.75 (I WI tomorrow!) and want to get to 170. I am 6'1", so I figure that is reasonable.

I am having a few issues this time around, which is why I am hoping a few moms out there can help with support. My newborn is very high needs, and we have had a lot of stress with her reflux diagnosis, upper GI scan etc. Very stressful, makes me want to eat!! Doing good at reisting, but some days I just need a grown up. Sophie is sweet, but still only a toddler!

Looking forward to making new friends!!

11-07-2003, 02:22 PM
Gotta be short today- but I will be back on later. Welcome Denise!!!!! You will find lots of WW company here......there are quite a few of us on it. I had a really tough baby too..... fortunately he/we survived it (he is 14 now!) With him we thought it might have been reflux- then the diagnosis went to pyloric stenosis and the final diagnosis was for malrotation of the intestine (and manor surgery). So, I guess I can identify with what you might be going thru. Congrats on your 8# loss, BTW.

Spryng, Karen, Michele.....sounds like you have been having tough days......I am praying for all of you! and hope things get better.

Candy, Emily and for anyone else I missed......I will be back on later.....sorry for not getting personal now.

See ya later.

11-07-2003, 03:50 PM
Thanks for the welcome, Ginny! Yes, Anneliese went through a whole series of tests at the beginning of October for malrotation. We ended up being sent 50 miles away with the xrays for a specialist to look at, but everything turned out OK.

Glad to hear that WW is spoken here. The first time I was OP, I was still working so there was a lot of office support. I find that having an online community to turn to at least gives me feedback.

Talk soon, Denise

Can't wait to meet more of you!!

11-07-2003, 04:21 PM
Hi everyone
Welcome, Denise. I am Ricci sahm of two boys 5 and 3. You will definately find support here for losing weight and whatever motherhood throws your way. The women here are wonderful.
I finally got my computer up and going again. It was kicking us off about every 5 minutes. It crashed the other night, but I fixed it and it seems to be fine now. Spryng, I hope you FIL is okay. I will keep you in my prayers. Misty, I hope these last few days of your pregnancy go by quickly. I know your ready for the baby to make his appearence.
As for me, I have still been working out and staying op. In fact last night we ordered pizza, and I only had two slices instead of the usual four. Its amazing how quickly I get filled up lately. I have finally figured out to eat until I am not hungry, not eat until I am full.I have actually found a lot of useful tips from Dr. Phil's weight loss shows. What makes me mad though is DH just started working out in the past few weeks, still eats like he always does and has lost weight and is seeing results in the mirror. Hopefully in a few weeks I will see more.
Karen, let us know what the dr says. If I forgot anyone, sorry. Welcome to all the new people.

11-07-2003, 04:24 PM
Welcome Denise!

YOu have found a great place for support! The gals here are wonderful! Most are on WW around here! I am on Atkins though (Doctors orders!)

Im Karen, SAHM of 2, ages 5 and 7. We live in WA state and dh and I have been married 13 years now!

Well gang, I finally talked to the doctor. He thinks I have fibroids. SO I have to go in for an ultrasound. I think I am going to talk to him about a complete hystorectomy. I am so tired of being fixed for a few months and then having issues start again. My mom had fibriods starting in her late 30's (WHich I am) and they held off until she was 65. THe doctor told her after they took it all out that she should have done it years ago.. they didnt realize truely how bad it was...

SO I am a little bit of a wreck.. but I am surviving... tears have been flowing for a good couple of hours now...

Thanks for listening! :)

11-07-2003, 04:26 PM

All I can say is "MEN!"

It isnt fair is it?

11-07-2003, 04:28 PM
Thank you! LOL

11-07-2003, 05:01 PM
Welcome Denise!

I am new around here also (been on a few days). I am a SAHM of 2 adorable kids. Kylie is 2 and Sean is 4. I have been married 8 years on December 9th. I also work at home full-time for a medical practice. I am not on WW or Atkins, just doing the calorie counting thing and trying to walk as often as possible.

My two pregnancies are also what has brought me to this point. I gained 70 lbs with the first and 50 lbs with the second. I'm deteremined to get it off and keep it off before too much more time passes me by.

Karen, glad to hear you got a diagnosis and that it is treatable. That kind of stuff can be very scary but it always makes you feel better to at least know what you are dealing with.

Ricci, congrats on having the willpower to resist those extra slices of pizza. Pizza is one of my weaker spots, so I have been avoiding it until I get a little stronger! Glad your computer is back up and thanks for inviting me over to this thread!!!

Hi everyone else!!! I'm outta here. Going shrimping tonight with the DH and DS (DMIL has my baby girl) so it should be interesting. I'll let you know how it goes. I used to really enjoy shrimping as a teenager but now it is just kinda messy and wet but at least I get to spend time with my guys!

I'm really sorry to hear about your baby girl's problems. Fortunately, I didn't have any problems with either of my kids but both my nieces had severe GI problems so I know what you're talking about it.

11-07-2003, 05:04 PM
For some reason my last post got all mixed up when it posted. That last paragraph was for you, Denise, and was originally under the first paragraph?!?

11-07-2003, 05:37 PM
Good afternnon all!
Welcome Denise!!! I think you have found the right place! I'm Spryng, mother of 3 , Ava 3, Bubba (aka Joseph) 2, and tanner is 4 months now. I am also on WW. I've been on it now for 9 or 10 weeks... I forget really. I'm having good results with it and just love being able to eat anything and everything. And I love this new flexpoint system, don't you?? Please post often so we can all get to know you better.
Well ladies... my day has been good. i just got back from shopping... I'm worn out. I did get me a new pair of jeans from old navy and a shirt that was clearanced. My poor pair of jeans was about to fall apart so I needed these since the ones I bought off ebay won't even get sent out until late this next week. So I splurged. Got my groceries for the week too so everything is good. Now I'm just relaxing. I don't have to get the kids until 5:30 so maybe I'll go clean the car out or something. It really needs it.
I haven't heard anything about FIL so far today. They rescheduled his surgery for noon, and that is all I know. I know someone will call when he gets out. But they opted not to do a full open heart surgery... they are going to try another method that is less invasive first. So lets hope it works.
OK, sorry I didn't get more personal. I promise I will tonight when I get home. TTYL!

11-07-2003, 06:17 PM
Wow Spryng they just keep putting him off. I hope things went well with him. Soooo... what size are your new jeans? Geesh I can't wait to wear jeans again!!!! Glad you had a nice day to yourself. Is Dh coming home this weekend? Hope he gets some time with this father. I'm sure his father could use the support considering how your MIL is behaving.

Karen BUG HUGS. I'm so sorry for you hon. My big sis went thru nearly the same thing. She had so many problems and finally they performed the complete hyster. on her. She is a new woman. Totally changed her life. I'm keeping you in my prayers. This is a huge thing to go thru. Keep us up to date on it ok.

Ginny glad you popped in!

Jen hope Ds is feeling better.

Ricci glad you got your computer figured out. Be nice to have you back posting regularly. hey are you the one doing Dr Pil's program? someone sent me a site with alot of his info on it the other day. Have you seen it?

Candy I can't remember if it was you who asked about the 3 children. If so feeel free to pick my brain  I'll warn ya tho only one brain cell wandering around in there! And Spryng is a good one to ask, she's a new mommy again for the 3rd time.

Welcome Denise! You will find lots of support here. And alot of great WW support too. Hope to see you posting often.

Oh I gotta git. My kids are going wild. Hope you all are doing great!!!

11-07-2003, 10:40 PM
Gonna start a new thread.........#99!!!! See you there!
