G’day everyone,

Ann by now you will have received the collage. I must have had a bit more of the ‘red ned’ than I thought that night. :dizzy:

Trudy I haven’t seen Seabiscuit but it is a film my dh is very keen to see. It sounds like a good story and it is a true story and they are the sort of films I like.
On age, I can remember someone asking me at school how old my mother was, she was ‘old’ 42, none of my classmates had a mother that old, all other motheres were in their thirties. Funny how our perception of ‘old’ changes!
That is good news about the scientific discovery to cure breast cancer.:)
Marnie you have had an eventful time, good for you being able to retrieve your documents and you are trying to tell us you know little about computers:dizzy:
Lucky girlfriend getting your quilt for Christmas.

Lily eventhough we do not celebrate Halloween, it does seem a shame that this tradition on your side of the world is coming to an end. I suspect it must be because most parents would not want their children wandering the streets.

Glenda so nice to see you again, yes the collage does look great. I also totally agree with you about the ‘positives’ that can come out of receiving a cancer diagnoses however I still prefer not to have had it!
What is a ‘wazoo’??? Never heard of one of those.

I did have a great day yesterday at the Melbourne Cup luncheon and I even had a win on my flutter on the Cup. It was lovely to catch up with everyone.
None of them have any idea as to what I do. I suspected that would probably be the case and came prepared. I took my camera and have taken lots of shots and will now enhance a few of them and send them to everyone. One as a collage with a picture of a horse race (as a watermark similar to the butterfly on my website) and the individual pictures of everyone. I hope they will be suitably impressed with the final result.
My HP printer (not my wonderful Epson Photo 2100 :love: ) has given up the ghost. I have had it less than a year and have already had it replaced once. The same thing has happened again but now……..’to improve customer service’ when you ring them you end up in India  . I am happy for the Indians all getting jobs as a result of this move but for me in Australia it is extremely frustrating. I have now been promised 5 times they will ring me back and they still have not. I have noted all the times and names of people I have spoken to. All I want is a contact point in Australia but they cannot give that to me. I am even prepared to contact a TV station to see if they can assist. The printer was not overly expensive ($489) but expensive enough to not discard it after less than a year use.

Back to hassling them again

Cheers all,
Maria

Maria: Got the collage. It is great. we are all a great looking bunch- don't you think? Sorry about your printer. Hope you can get some satisfaction.

I think we all use the word 'wazoo' as a slang type of expression. To express a variety of meanings and most of them a bit on the derogartory side ! Instead of just saying 'I've Had it'. when upset, we might make it more emphatice by saying" I've had it up the wazoo'. What do you think ladies, is that an appropriate explanation? I'm sure you can all add something more. :D:
See you later. Ann

Trudy

I always thought we sit on our "wazoo"

I hate it when we think we are phoning our local bank branch and end up talking to someone 3,000 miles away in Newfoundland or in BC. It is very frustrating! But in your case Maria calling India you will be dealing with another accent making conversation difficult. I had to order a new paddle for my bread machine and the 1-800 number connected me with South Carolina... well.... I had one heck of a time with the southern drawl and she had a time trying to understand me. We had a good laugh on the phone about it and I did get my new paddle. Hope you get the printer problems solved without too much hassle.

Another dreary damp day today. I did manage to have a good day though, my DD and  visited in the morning, they left after lunch, and I had a lot of laughs with my Tea Time friends. My DH and I went out for din dins, so I didn't have to cook. If you notice the whole day was centered around food.:D
It was nice getting together with Slavika and the gals today, she made the Cranberry Cheesecake and it was delicious. We all liked what she has done to her home, it is just beautiful.

Not surprisingly, my weight is up... AGAIN... so I started journaling today. Marnie did your WW lecturer say not to drink milk??? It is so important for us to get our calcium every day... I might have misunderstood you. I try to drink 3 cups of milk every day, if I can't, I have my calcium chews. I am trying Caltrate now, only because Costco isn't selling Viactiv anymore. The pharmacist said Caltrate has more calcium per chew.

Well, I am going to get ready for bed now, always hopefull that I can fall asleep. Haven't been able to sleep much lately, I blame everything on the weather..

'Nite everyone, and Goodmorning to Maria....

Trudy it is 4 in the afternoon here and I am just about organised for visitors tonight.

Well I have had some joy after being very persistant.
I finally received a phone call from a Melbourne fellow who told me that the problem I was having with my HP printer was a known problem. Their engineers have now rectified the problem and anyone calling with my complaint should receive automatically a new replacement printer:cb: :cp: :hat:
After many phone calls lots sof time wasting and getting very angry, I finally got some results.
The Indian fellow was trying to tell me the reason my calls were not returned because the only person who knows about these printers was on holidays. I asked him if this fellow was to drop dead right this minute, would that mean I would never get my printer issue resolved???????
I resent being taken for a fool:mad:
The Melbourne fellow told me that he would take up the issue with the Indian call centre because they should have known of this problem.

It is very hot here at the moment but a thunderstorm is threatening with the weather cooling a bit.

By now you are all tucked into bed, so sleep tight all:D ;)

Cheers
Maria

Marnie: Yes Calcium is very important. I think what your Leader meant was things like Alchol, Juice's (instead of fruit, or Veggies), things like that. Especially important at our age to make sure we get Calcium in. I get 2-3 milks in a day. sometimes only 2 but I make sure I take a Viactiv, if I dont.

Glenda: So good to see you again.

Maria: Glad you got your printer problems resloved. What a pain to go thru. Hp is suppose to be so good. But I have had problems with them myself. They are good at replacing things. But getting thru is another story :)

Ann: Great explanation. Wazoo is used in a variety of ways.

Trudy: Sounds like your winter is coming. It is here to. Just hate it :(
But at least it only lasts for 3-4 months. We never did have fall, except for maybe one day. It was in the high 80's then the next day it was in the 50's and hasnt changed since. Gonna check out these Caltrate's didnt know they were better. Do they taste as good?

Yes, calcium is important. :strong: But instead of using it up in my coffee, I've been bringing a yogurt to work and having "skim" on my cereal in the morning. I know there are some vegetables, too, that give us calcium: IS IT CHCOLATE? Thanks Lily - I don't drink alcohol and rarely use points on juice.

Hope the printer problem is solved, Maria. It cracks me up that people who are in the "service" industry do not know how to handle the servicing.

Karen, hope you've gotten over the sinus infection. That is troublesome.

Trudy, I've never taken the Caltrate or the Viactive. I've seen ads for both of them on TV.

Have you all been watching Dr. Phil? Yesterday he said he'd add menus to the website. This morning - since my boss is in Germany - I downloaded :comp:3 weeks of menus, plus one week of vegetartian menus.

DH and I are heading to Dubuque on Sunday. I had a cousin die, and we're going to attend her funeral. Also, there's a quilt shop in Galena, Illinois (not too far from where we'll be) and I have an ulterior motive for going! :crossed:

It's almost lunch time and I'm getting hungry. I'll :write: later.

Whay Miss Trudy, that's funny about y'all's conversation with a South Carolinian. [written in southern drawl]. Ann since you live in the South have you picked up an accent? Would love to hear you cause aren't you from Maine? Mix that with the South should be fun. Where I live we have the habit of saying "please" in place of excuse me or please explain that again.

Maria what a mess with you printer. You would think that they would know the meaning of service. I know I would have a hard time understanding. I can never understand my nephew's wife who comes from there.

Got an email from the family in India. The 7th grader is learning Tamil as his 3rd language after English and Spanish. They also initiated Halloween where they live. He sent his Christmas list but you have to wonder if they things will get there. They seem to disappear in customs. Their dvd player never arrived. I am sure some official is enjoying it.

I take calcium pills-one in the morning and one in the evening. They have D in them. I used to like the ones that are like caramels. I liked them way too much.

The 80 degree weather is going away and it is getting a little chillier. Going to rain. I have spent the last couple of days mulching trying to beat the rain.

Slavika that cranberry cheesecake doesn't sound like a WW recipe but it sure does sound good.

Saw these on eBay. They are so cute and would be so easy to make. Give those kids something to do. You can get the tags at a scrapping store or office supply store or make your own. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=1217&item=2570781814

Going to go clean-there are leaves in the house.

Lily I don't think the Caltrate is as "chocolatey" (is that a word? ) as Viactiv. Caltrate has 600 mg of elemental calcium and 100 IU of Vitamin D. Viactiv has 500mg of calcium and 100 IU of Vitamin D. I actually think the Viactiv is like a piece of fudge, but I will stick with the Caltrate. The Caltrate is more expensive here too. $10.59 compared to $8.99. I found the pills so hard to swallow so I don't mind paying more for a little treat. Because of Osteoporisis I also take 1 70mg of Fosamax once a week.
Peggy The little boy is going to be fluent in many languages. I must have missed the initial post about the boy, is he a foster child? Too bad they didn't get the DVD, that is just awful someone official would steal it.
Marnie Too bad about the death of your cousin. It is nice travel, but sad when it is for a funeral. Yogurt is a good way of getting calcium, but because it doesn't contain vitamin D, it isn't absorbed as readily. I don't know why taking care of our health can't be simple.
My DH has to take cholesterol pills, he has a genitically high count. He does not like taking them. There is a doctor column in our newspaper and this particular doctor does not believe in any medication for high cholesterol. He states that the side effects of the medication are worse than dealing with the cholesterol, and the drug companies are getting rich. So, of course my DH wants to stop his medication. I told him to take the article and see his doctor before he stops. MEN!
Maria I always picture you getting up when I am going to bed, but I see that is not true. I managed to sleep 6 hours last night and that is a victory for me. That is good news about the printer. Imagine having only 1 person who knows about the problem... that is too rediculous to believe, but sometimes I think that because you are on the phone, they can tell you anything and you will believe it.

I hope everyone is having a great day... bye for now.

G'day all,

It is 2 pm and dh and myself have just been for a walk along the beach, even had a bit of a paddle, up till our knees!
Dh is such a child that he had to spash me and I got a bit wetter than I intended to get.

It is a glorious day here again, lovely and warm.

Lily I know HP is a good brand but I won't be buying it again, I have a HP scanner, dh has one of those 3 in one office jets and I have the troublesome deskjet. We have had problems with all three not being compatible with Windows 2000 or WindowsXP. We had no end of problems getting the right drivers etc. I am afraid they have done their dash. I am happy though that a new printer (refurbished one) arrived this morning.:)

Sorry you have to go to attend a funeral Marnie, I find it very difficult to attend funerals, I am always a blubbering mess no matter how well I know the person:?: :dizzy:

Thanks for the link to Ebay Peggy that is the first time I have actually felt Christmas is not far away when the music started playing on clicking on the larger view of the tags.:)
We have very few accents here, difficult to tell what part of Australia someone is from. New Zealanders do have quite a different accent and can be difficult to understand.
What about Canada, do you have different dialects? I know part of Canada speaks french but in the english speaking part are there dialects??

Slavika and Trudy people are always asking me where you both are in Canada, I suspect you are on the West Coast because that would be the closest to the Lakes, where I know you often go Slavika Maybe I am totally wrong, my geography is wowful:(

TrudyI have also heard that about cholestrol medication. You may remember I was on some when I was in Sydney. When I ran out of the medication and then saw another doctor (back he here in Adelaide) she said I should not be on it but I am having regular cholestrol tests, it is still high but she seems to think it is OK. :?: :?:

We are off to Melbourne very early tomorrow morning and back again on Sunday, so I will be missing in action until then.

Have a great weekend all and I will 'see' you on my return...

Cheers
Maria

Hi everyone: It has been busy time for me, so I have managed to read, but may not get to post too much until the weekend is over. We are having our Fall Festival Sat. and it will be a busy time. Games, Crafts, Breakfast, lunch, Bake Sale, etc. I will be glad when my tour of duty is over.

I get calcium at Sams Club. Calcium with magnesium and zinc. The Vitamin D is in my multiple vitamin. With my osteoporosis, I take Miacalcin, since Fosamax is not good for my esophagus. And I do try to eat cheese and yogurt. Broccoli is a good source of calcium too. My DH has to take cholestorol medication too. Just started about 3 weeks ago, and then he has to have blood work done in two months. For me my diet seems to have worked on the cholesterol, and I do take 500 mgs. of niacin everyday. Life sure doesn't get simpler as the years go by. :D:

Hope to talk to you all later this week. Ann

Good Morning!

All I know about Canadians is that they say "aboot" for about! Trudy and Slavika, I bet you have a few words that us USAers use differently, too.

Can you think of healthy snacks I can bring in the car to Dubuque? I just don't want to pig out on the usual chips, nuts, etc. I thought of raisins and dried fruits.

Ann, did you make anything for the church bazaar? Sounds like a lot of work, too.

Maria, I envied you your walk along the beach. That's one thing I enjoyed when we were in Hawaii: the never ending surf and the beauty everywhere. (Have a safe trip).

It was 17 this morning. Br-r-r-r.

I'll check back later.

It's cold here too Marnie. Now we are paying for those nice hot days we had this past week. Can you pack some fresh fruit and if you have to take chips and stuff how about those baked ones.

Trudy I started taking Zocor over the summer. My cholesterol in June was 259 and a couple of weeks ago it was down to 170. I haven't seen any articles on the pros and cons of the pills. Just know that you can't drink grapefruit juice with them. I love grapefruit juice and I miss that. The family in India is my nephew, wife and their 2 sons. He married a girl from India. She just got out of medical school and is practicing there. The dad is teaching in the boys school. They have been there about 6 months and they like it. Don't thnk I will be visiting.

Ann I think you are the energizer bunny. You just keep going and going and going. That's great. Have a successful festival.

Maria take a walk on the beach for me. Wish I lived near one. Have a good trip.

Going to go back to painting.

A quick report. have all my t-shirts painted, all my quilled cards done, and my table signs made. I have to make some pies for the bake-sale. surgar free ones. There is always a big call for SF. In a retirement park like ours there seems to be a lot of diabetics. I'll be glad when this is all over. The 'energizer bunny' is beginning to run down. :D: Nite Nite. Ann

Hi all, I am back to WW for a week and have 101# to lose to be where I would like to be. I'm 54, married, work fulltime & am happy to finally have an empty nest.

What kind of topics is discussed in this thread?

Trudy: Thanks for the info. I will get some tomorrow. Im out of the other and want to try these. Thats really good with 600 mil of calcium in it.

Ann: How was the fall festival? I agree with peggy you are like the energizer bunny :)

Maria: I had the same problem with a HP deskjet. No matter what we tried I could not get it to work on NT 2000 Even the HP help desk couldnt help me. You would think with a big company as they are they should know these things. All the ones I have bought in the past have had no problems what so ever. But the deskjet did.

Marnie: Raisians and dried fruits are good choices. I also like to take a Uturn bar to. They are 3 points and loaded with protein and very good. Kinda of like a snickers bars. Dont know if you have a trader joes but thats where I get mine. When Im traveling to it makes for a good breakfast. Very filling with all the protein it has 15g.

Peggy: Its cold here to. I hate winter! Course we didnt have a fall either. Was 90 one day and 50 the next. I would love to go to India someday. Probably cost a fortune to go tho.

Loodie: Welcome aboard! We talk about everything. We also do talk about weight to. Feel free to jump in! Karen posts here and is a WW Leader, she always has great advise! I also work for WW as a repectionist and would be happy to answer any questions you have. This is a great group! Tell us a bit about yourself.

Been one heck of a week for me. Really busy at work. Didnt even want to go to WW today. I wanted to sleep in. But I made it! Was crazy there to. The numbers have been really strange lately. 1 week up the next way down. But then its always this way this time of year! Then tomorrow I have a WW staff meeting. ALAS no rest for me this weekend :(
Least I get my movie tonight with a fire, as its cold. Told Hubby to get Seabiscuit or the Nemo one but he came home with an old Mel Gibson movie. Which is ok to :) Love Mel as much as Tom :)

Have a great night all!

G'day all,

We arrived home a couple of hours ago. We had a lovely weekend, seeing our dd and her dh. It was the first time we saw her schnoodle puppy, Fuji  she was just gorgeous and so well behaved. Our dd and her dh are VER strict and it is paying dividends, she is just lovely.
We took a bit of a detour home and went throught the Grampians, a mountain range 2 hours out of Melbourne. It was a beautiful day so we decided to put the top down as we drove through the mountains, it was just lovely. We ended up driving all the way home with the top down:o , we are a bit sunburnt despite putting on sunblock. The whole trip was a bit over 9 hours, look forward to a shower and a good nights sleep!

Loodi Welcome, as Lily said, we discuss anything and everything and even weight sometimes;) :D

Lily I received a PM from someone who read my post re HP. Her family works for them and naturally she was concerned with my comments about HP. Interesting you should have similat problems.....perhaps HP needs to do some research and find out what their customers REALLY think of their product, it is a competitive world out there!

I came home with lots more ideas for my business and I also had 5 emails of prospective clients:dizzy:
You have no idea how amazed I am, I keep pinching myself if this is really happening. I will have a very hectic few weeks with trying out my different ideas and attending to some photo restorations.
I had another 'brainwave' and thought I would write a letter and introduce my skills to members of geneology clubs, they may find my restorations useful.
I MUST be off, have that shower and get to bed.....

See ya tomorrow

Cheers

Just a quick post. Wanted to tell all of you that life sure has a way of changing. DH sister Florida is in need of a place to live. DH and I have talked for several months on this subject as we knew it woould be happening. So we have offered her a home here with us. And this morning she called to say she would come. So we now are getting ready for her . We figure we should beable to get her here by Thanksgiving. Must turn my computer room into a bedroom again. And will have to move my computer into our bedroom . My sewing machine will move into the living room . As you may have guessed we have a very small house.

Yesterday was my grandsons birthday party. He will be 7 next Thursday but that is the day he will have a party with his friends. Anyway we had lots of family around for a busy day.

Friday DH and made a trip to Sam's. We decided to spend the night and take DS and Girlfriend to dinner to celebrate the engagment. Went to a Italian place . Was it ever good! Way to many points and couldn't finish it all so left it on the plate.

Talk to you all later

Welcome Loodie pull up a chair and join us.

Hi All: The Festival is now a memory, and today I feel more like a human being. We did quite well for the whole affair, and hopefully we will have cleared a bit over $1000. So worth the hassle.

Peggy: I find different pieces of material with designs or prints, etc. and cut them out to put on the t-shirts. Wonder under them in place, and then use fabric paints to outline, and also to enhance the print. Like Angels, Santa. flowers, fish, butterflies, etc. I know there is going to be another Craft show in Dec. at our church school, and I think I will go to that. I haave been wanting to experiment with painting some flowers or some such, free hand, but weren't couragous this time. I think I may try one, and if I don't think it is good enough for sale, I wear it my self. ;)

Maria: Your drive sounded lovely. Sunburn and all. So glad you are getting lots of 'bites' for your business. Whay are you surprised? You do such great stuff!!:cp:

Loodie: Welcome. Jump right in. We have a great bunch. Talk about everything, including weight.

Speaking of- I'm once again at the dreaded plateau, up and down up and down but never really moving down. I still have about 10# to get back to goal, so have to buckle down even more I guess. This wasn't a great weekend for eating. :?:

'See' you all tomorrow. Ann

Dusting

"A house becomes a home when you can write "I love you" on the
furniture."

I can't tell you how many countless hours that I have spent CLEANING! I
used to spend at least 8 hours every weekend making sure things were
just
perfect -"in case someone came over". Then I realized one day that no
one
came over; they were all out living life and having fun!

Now, when people visit, I find no need to explain the "condition" of my
home. They are more interested in hearing about the things I've been
doing while I was away living life and having fun. If you haven't
figured
this out yet, please heed this advice.

Life is short. Enjoy it! Dust if you must, but wouldn't it be better to
paint a picture or write a letter, bake a cake or plant a seed, ponder
the difference between want and need?

Dust if you must, but there's not much time, with rivers to swim and
mountains to climb, music to hear and books to read, friends to cherish
and life to lead.

Dust if you must, but the world's out there with the sun in your eyes,
the wind in your hair, a flutter of snow, a shower of rain. This day
will
not come around again.

Dust if you must, but bear in mind, old age will come and it's not kind.
And when you go - and go you must - you, yourself will make more dust!

Share this with all the wonderful women in your life! I JUST DID.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter that tells what kind of
life you have lived.

G'day all,

Had a lovely night sleep after our trip and back into it again this morning!

I had to laugh at Peggy describing Ann as the energising bunny:D :D
You sure are busy Ann but I am sure that is the best way to be, how boring to go to bed at night and have had everything done.....what are you then going to do tomorrow:?:

Karen you are very good to take in your dh's sister. Why is it that she needs accommodation...she doesn't have a place of her own or is she unwell? That is quite an upheaval for you both. I don't have a big place either and when we have my dd and dh come and stay it is fine but I am always pleased to have the house back to myself again. I hope it all works out for you.

Ann perhaps you need Peggy to come over and give some lessons on painting on fabric, you would do well sharing your skills!
What is your painting project at the moment Peggy??

I had heard your poem before Ann but it was nice to be reminded of it again, thanks for sharing.

I am off to make a list of everything I hope to achieve this week.

See ya all tomorrow....

Cheers

Maria, My sister in law has never had an easy life . She has lost so much over her 66 years it is an awful tale. People take from her all the time. She has never owned a home because some how she manages with the help of her dysfunctional family to lose it. She has bailed them out of trouble so may times it has left her broke and now almost homeless. She has been renting a room with a long time friend (fairweather type). He is a gay man who has Aids . Some of his medications cause him to have mood changes and he directs his anger towards my S-I-L . Life has become unbareable for her around him. So it was either here or to her Daughter's who also lives in dysfunction. S-I-L was to see her mental heath counselor last week and when her bloodpressure was take it was on the ceiling and she needed to be taken to the hospital. She has a heart condition also. Any way long story short , is she needs to be some where calm and for someone to care and take care of her instead of alway taking from her. We are hopeful that it will work out. You know when some one lives all there life in dysfunction it is hard for them to get out of it. So keep your fingers crossed for all of us.

Karen How sad your SIL's life has been. She is so lucky to have you and your DH. I hope this helps her to get her life running smoothly. We never know how lucky we are until we hear stories like this one.
Hi Loodie join us! We always have room for another friend. :) We talk about everything and since our lives revolve around food, we also talk about our weight issues.
Maria Sounds like you had a sweet little trip. Imagine getting sun burned at this time of the year, of course you are in a wonderful climate. I don't think anyone here is surprised to find your little business is going to be a success. Good for you.
Ann Glad your Festival was a success, now you can rest, but something tells me you will dive right into another project, I don't think you sit around too much. Those t-shirts sound really cute. I liked the poem, it made me feel better about my dusty house.
Lily I am racking my brain trying to figure out what NT2000 is. :?: That U-Turn bar sounds tasty, wish we had Trader Joe here in Canada. I like Mel Gibson too :D there something about that guy.. ;)
Peggy Do you think your nephew and family will stay in India? That is one place I would never want to go. I was trying to find the article about Cholesterol from the archives in the newspaper, but had no luck. Maybe Slavika could scan it and if we can figure out how to reduce it, I will forward it on. It never hurts to be informed.
Slavika what have you been up to this weekend? Weather-wise it wasn't too bad. We went to the casino last night, didn't win but did see a good show in the Concert Bowl. Today we took a drive over to our DD's. Our son-in-law has a birthday tomorrow, so we went over today to give him his gift. They asked us to stay for Pizza and of course we said yes. So we had a very enjoyable weekend.

See you all later,

That is such great news! ANd when you get the Funeral one done Im sure people will come running! They all ready are :)
I really think its those Deskjets. Cuz I havent had a problem when I got another kind. Mine wouldnt even recognize my computer. I installed the right drivers and everything and it just wouldnt see it. They tend to put a fax and all that other stuff with the deskjet and I wonder if thats it? Cause I hook up a laser or anything else and it works fine.

Karen: How nice of you to offer your home to DH sister. Im sure she is very happy about that! Yumm Italian. Havent had that in a long time.

Trudy: Couldnt find Caltrate. Still looking tho. Havent been to Costco yet.

Ann: Glad the Festival went well! Thats alot of money so good for you :) Loved the poem! Have read it before, but always good to read again! Your T shirts sound nice. Think its a great idea!

I went shopping today. Spent a fortune. Wasnt expecting to. But did :)
Bought several slacks that I can wear to WW and about 5000 sweaters. Then I went to my WW staff meeting and had the worse WI of my life (cept of course when I joined) But I was out all day and wasnt about to come home and change. WI in Jeans and a Sweater  Weigh 7# more than my Morning WI. Showed me over goal but oh well. Alas :dizzy:

Maria: I read a piece about Mel Gibson saying that he is Australian, and that he had to undergo a lot of plastic surgery, after he was mugged and robbed and left for dead when he was about 16. This is only a brief synopsis of the story. Is it true? Ann

Ann he is a bit of a larrikan :D :D, he was born in America but spend all his childhood and young adult life in Australia. He studied to be an actor at NIDA (National Institute of Dramatic Art) in Sydney. Because he was born in the USA it was easy for him to get a green card to work there and of course he has been very successful. All this rubbish I store in my head;) :( :D .
Mind you it is very handy when I play 'Trivial Persuit';)

Cheers

Hi Everybody :grouphug:

Welcome Loodie please join us and talk about anything you would like, and we will jump in. :)

Peggy I also take Zocor. I forget how long I have been taking it, but I "think" about 3- 4 years. Next thing the doctor will be giving me something to help my memory. hee hee

Maria that's great that your business venture is taking off like that. Well done! You are heading into your lovely summer and driving with the top down. How nice for you guys. Glad you had a great time.

Ann at one time I did a lot of painting on sweatshirts. A great source for patterns is children's colouring books. I would get a colouring book and some carbon paper and then trace the design on to a sweatshirt then paint it. Some of the things I could draw free hand, but things like animals I was never very good at. You can of course buy iron on transfers too, but you probably already know that. Ann, I also did a lot of painting on denim shirts. I would buy the ones from the men's department because they were always cheaper then the ladies. You can also buy great decorative buttons, or studs to put on the shirts and really fancy them up. Lately, Trudy and I have been using those decorative iron on patches (but we would sew around them too, just to make sure they don't come off in the wash). Using denim shirts over a T-shirt as a light jacket is a great idea. You just have to make sure you wash the denim shirts or any other garment you are going to paint on to remove the sizing (you probably knew that too). ;)

Lily good for you for indulging yourself a little. ...ok a lot. hee hee :high: I'm sure you deserve it.

Karen that was really sweet of you to offer to take your SIL in. I think you mentioned her in earlier posts. It's going to be a big change in your house and I hope it all works out well for you. :) Is this going to be a more or less permanent situation and how will it effect your plans on going South when you and DH retire?

My SIL and brother were here yesterday and saw my house for the first time since I started the re-decorating. I already knew that she didn't like walls painted anything but white or off-white and I was right, she didn't like my living room/dining at all. I kind of expected that reaction from her so I wasn't really hurt, but thought she could have been a little gentler in criticism.
She said the master bedroom was "ok". It was painted the lightest shade of gold almost just a buff colour.

Hi Marnie how are you doing? Have you decided on the snacks to take? I am not doing so well in the weight loss department so I better not offer suggestions.

Well everybody, it's getting late so I'll say good night.

G'day all,

I am in a hurry this morning but wanted to share the following site with you...........

http://www.britishpathe.com/index.cfm

My dear neighbour who is totally amazed with what I can do with photographs, read it in his paper (he has a Melbourne paper delivered) and thought I might find it of interest.

It is a site where you can certainly loose yourself for a few hours.

Have a great day, I will try and get back later today.....

Cheers
Maria

Well you are right - Another project. Just got an order for 12 quilled gift enclosure cards. I do them with flowers and snow flakes and anything else I can think of. I enjoy doing the quilling. I use a more dainty tool than the one that comes with all the paper. It makes the flowers much daintier.

Slavika: I know I have to launder, but always hate to, because then I have to press everything over again, so the finished project looks good. :D: I'm basically lazy about ironing and dusting. :D: I can always find something to do that is much more interesting. Pooh on your SIL being critical of your redecorating. It is your home and she doesn't live there. So even tho' you expected her to be critical, she certainly could have been tactful.I like the denim idea. Maybe will try that, when my tour as prez is over.

Karen: You are to be commended taking in your SIL. She certainly has had a sad life. I hope that all will work out for you, and when you come to Fl. for retirement, you will be able to have her with you, and with a bit more room.

Hi to everyone. 'See" you tomorrow. Ann
