Boy, I can't believe we are at thread #36! That is just great!

Dorothy :cp:
Lisa :cp:

I think that is a great idea. Let's all give a thankful list: Today's scare with my bil has had me thinking that all day:

I am truly thankful for:

An adorable supportive husband who has snow on the roof but fire in the fireplace!
My beautiful children, sil and soon to be dil
My gorgeous and ornery Thomas who is my treasure
The most beautiful group of overweight ladies in the world who bring light and laughter into my life
My extended family and friends
My health, which has improved greatly
My lifestyle, though not extravagant is perfect for us
My pets, who love me unconditionally
My home, which is always warm and welcoming
My husband's job, which is not glamorous but very well paying
A God given spirit that allows me to share in others pain and understand it
Talents that only God can provide me

I talked to Missy by e-mail today. She is doing fine except has fallen off the wagon so of course is not posting. I gently chastised her and told her to get back here no matter how badly she is doing. After all, let's face it, this group keeps us all motivated, doesn't it? I know I would not be as well off without all your support.

Here is another Lasagna recipe that was given to me and one for macaroni and cheese. I have not tried either so can't say how they taste.

Classic Lasagna
6 servings

3/4 pound Italian Turkey Sausage
5 1/2 cups chopped onion
4 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 cup Burgundy, or other dry red wine
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
1/8 teaspoon crushed red pepper
2 stewed tomatoes, undrained and chopped
1 4 ounce can tomato paste
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 1/2 cups nonfat ricotta cheese
vegetable cooking spray
12 lasagna noodles, cooked
1 cup provolone cheese, shredded
Cook turkey sausage in a large saucepan over medium heat until browned, stirring to crumble sausage. Drain; wipe drippings from pan with a paper towel. Return sausage to skillet. Add onion and garlic; saute 5 minutes. Add Burgundy and next 4 ingredients; stir well. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 10 minutes. Remove from heat, and set aside. Combine parsley and next 3 ingredients; stir well, and set aside. Spread 1/2 cup tomato mixture in bottom of a 13-x 9- x 2-inch baking dish coated with cooking spray. Arrange 4 noodles over tomato mixture, top noodles with 2 cups tomato mixture, half of the ricotta cheese mixture, and 1/3 cup shredded provolone cheese. Repeat the layers, beginning and ending with noodles. Spread the remaining 1 1/2 cups tomato mixture over noodles, and sprinkle with the remaining 1/3 cup provolone cheese. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Uncover and bake an additional 10 minutes. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.

hey I had visited another thread a while back and they mentioned a 5lb reward box. You basically decorate a small box. Write up small rewards/treats on small pieces of paper that you fold up and then deposit in the box. Every time you lose 5lbs you get a piece of paper out and reward yourself. It could be anything, like a manicure, a nail poilish, an ice cream, a movie, etc.

Anyway, I thought it would be a fun idea to share with you girls.

Dot, I am a type 2 diabetic taking 2 shots of insulin a day. I have been diabetic for almost 13 yrs. I was a gestational diabetic, it went away as soon as Billy was born, and came back after a nasty bout with pancreatitis. Thank you for the low carb tips, I am devouring all the info I can.

Faye, Billy is my son from my first marriage which ended in divorce when he was almost 3. It was a good 8 years before I met my second husband Charles. We were married only 1 1/2 years before he died. Thru him I have 4 step-kids, and 3 step-grandkids (he was 11 yrs older than me) Unfortunately, I don't see any of the kids or grandbabies anymore. They figured that since their Dad is gone, they don't have to deal with me, they never really accepted me anyway. Believe it or not, they didn't like me because of my size. They couldn't believe their Dad fell for a "fat cow". Their Mom is super skinny, a drug addict, alcoholic, and she cheated on him often, but she was skinny so the rest was ok. It is a shame that they are teaching their kids that prejudice.

Thanks also for the desk exercise tips. I came home again today with swollen ankles. I will try them tomorrow.

Time to hit the bike!!

:comp: Hello All

I have been browsing around 3fc for a couple of months now and have been wanting to get back into a supportive community. This looked like a very happy and welcoming thread and I was wondering if I could join you all.

I've been concentrating on my weight for the past few months and have lost 24 pounds but still have 44 to go. I've gave myself till January 10, 2005 because that seemed like a good length of time to work on my bad habits, establish good ones, and ease out the excess weight. I picked that particular date because its my birthday. :)

Hope to join in on the fun :dizzy:

Evening girls...welcome Susan... I am sure you'll enjoy it here.

I got all 4 pts for today.

Okay, sorry for dragging on with this but this evening Andrew was taken by his mother (by his own will) to detox, which will follow with rehab. Of course he can sign himself out any time if he wishes to. His mom called me to inform me of this, she told me she had to actually get him drunk to get into detox and it began to get hard once he was drunk...anyway she asked me for prayers that he stays in detox and follows through with rehab, this has been the only time he actually done this...anyway so now i ask you to please keep Andy in your prayers because I guess its gonna take a lot of them to help him through this. Also, I'm sort of confused, mostly because deep inside I still do have feelings for him, but refuse to deal with him drinking, but my question to you all is should I stick around as a friend for him while he is doing this, right now (all he's really got is his mom and I). Or should I just get out now ASAP. And if I do stick around should I give him hope of us having a future together ....Oh brother I am truely sorry for dragging on with this I really don't mean to bumm anyone out here....I feel like a real party pooper:(

Very confused right now...help.

Morning Girlies,

Gratitude list:

1. My family, and their unconditional love for me.

2. My family here at 3fc. I am honored and blessed to call you my friends. Coming here and being with all of you has been one of the best decisions I have ever made, and I am most grateful for the opportunity to make it every day... Thanks to all of you for being here.

3. My home, and the energy and the stamina to keep it cleaner. (Faye you are inspiring me!!!!)....as always.

4. My job.

5. good nutritional food to eat.

6. For my ability to exercise now. and I am going to do it TODAY !!!

7. For the ability to feel hopeful again about my future.

8. For the discipline I have now, and the choice each day to follow through.

Dot, I hope that rehab helps Andrew, and I hope whatever decision you make for yourself will be the right one. You know in your "gut", what you need to do. That voice inside us screams at us, but we don't always listen. You deserve more!!! When you are ready you will realize that, but, IN THE MEAN TIME, IF YOU NEED TO JUST ACT AS IF, "ACT AS IF YOU DESERVE BETTER", AND ONE GOOD CHOICE WILL LEAD TO THE "NEXT RIGHT THING"... love and hugs to you girl.

:grouphug: :grouphug:

Sandyb, have a healthful day... check in with you later.

 later girls.

Hi! My name is Ritu and I'm from India. I have 2 children, a son 19 and a daughter 17. Both my kids are in college. Till recently I was a stay at home mom so I'm finding the 'empty nest' a bit difficult to handle. Fortunately, I started a small business of my own a couple of years ago, so that keeps me busy. I'm also very lucky in that I have amazing friends and family. I have been a yo-yo dieter for the past 18 years -I only put on weight after my pregnancy before which I weighed 110 lbs. I started dieting 18 yrs. ago at 150 lbs., and since have been up and down zillion times. I now weigh 176 lbs, my highest ever. I lost 32 lbs. last year and have gained them all back plus 5 more this year. But this time I know I will succeed.

My name is Sandy, and i am 40 years old. I have been married to my best friend for going on 11 years. We have 3 beautiful kidlets... a 10 year old daughter and 2 sons 7 and 4. I like to read and play on this machine... but my passion these days is painting and redocorating... i think i have painted almost every piece of furniture in my home...lol I only have a couple more to do... and i have to redo my kitchen table as my daughter and her friend decided to "do" their nails on it... so there are a few bald spots...Oh well... I am determinded to loose this weight and come out of my shell. I wish everyone the same ...

Screen name: mugirl213
Real name: Missy
I am 25 and currently residing with my parents in Reading, PA (like the railroad from Monopoly). I work in advertising for Boscov's, which is the largest family-owned department store in the US. I am not married, nor do I have any children, but I am coming off of some recent drama dealing with 2 boyfriends. Long story, but I'm on the straight and narrow now. I belong to a gym which I have been attending 6 days of the week (Saturday's off) and I count calories and try to stay under 1300 daily. I have 2 parents, 1 dog, some fish, a sister, a brother-in-law, 2 nephews, 2 grandparents and a partridge in a pear tree.

JUDY: I am 43 yr old single mom of Billy, my 13 year old wonderful son.
I have weighed as much as 308 when pregnant, and have gained and lost the same 50 pounds of the last few years. I was slowly and steadily losing weight until my husband died last March. At that time I had so many other things to take care of, I kind of got lost in the shuffle, and now I am back up to 298. things have settled down now, so I can take care of me again.

I am a Real Estate secretary, so I sit most all day.

Pam: :cp: :cp:
Dorothy: :bravo:
Me: :bravo:
SandyB: :bravo:

Talk about blabby, just look at below!

This is your thread too ladies and you want to list things you are thankful for, that is great. How about, 3 things we will be thankful for that day, for example:

Today, I will be thankful for, God sparing my bil, Larry, I will be thankful that the last thing said to me EVERY morning of my life is I LOVE YOU, I will be thankful today that I have legs to walk anywhere I want and a mouth not to just put food in but to talk with friends and family.

Pam: Baby girl, you and I are going to have our own private challenge for awhile until we quit being sloppy. I AM GOING TO STAY OP AND YOU ARE GOING TO EXERCISE EVERYDAY EXCEPT YOUR DAY OFF. I AM GOING TO WATCH YOU LIKE A HAWK AND YOU GET TO DO THE SAME WITH ME UNTIL WE ARE BACK TO NORMAL!

Judy: You listen to me. Your stepchildren are ignorant, selfish, self- serving people obviously and you don't need them in your life if they have stupid preconceived ideas about what is normal and OK. You are a beautiful vibrant woman, you have a son you obviously adore and the memories of a man you love. You can ask the ladies here, but I am **** on wheels when it comes to people being pushed around because they are fat. No one but God makes the rules in this world and just because our size is not what someone else thinks is appropriate, doesn't me a darn thing. You stick with us kiddo and you are going to look and feel beautiful even more than you are right now!

Susan: This group of ladies is wonderful. I am fondly known as the :drill: as I push my opinions etc around pretty good, but all for everyone's well-being only. You can do this! I know you can. You not only have inner beauty but outer beauty just let it shine right out. We are going to help you get to the weight you want to be!

Dorothy: Whoa, girl, we are here for the bad stuff as well as the good and you are having a tough time with Andrew so you just yak away as much as you need to. No one can tell you what to do. You must search your heart and decide what is best for DOROTHY NOT ANDREW! Part of what you are feeling is pity that he doesn't have others besides you and his mom, but more than likely his drinking did that. Personally, I do NOT think it is healthy for you right now to be associated with him the way he is. He needs to dry out and come to terms with his drinking. He needs AA for one thing not just detox and rehab. You might truly benefit from Al-Anon and I would HIGHLY suggest it if you want to continue a relationship in ANY form with him. They can put his drinking in a proper perspective. Dorothy, just please consider everything before continuing with him in any way. Trying to lose weight and all it involves makes you pretty fragile anyway and I know you don't want to go backwards. Tying yourself up with someone with problems like Andrews could really set you back I am afraid. One last thing, HE NEEDS TO REALIZE you aren't there because he messed it up and if you continue to go to him, he is not being made accountable for his screwups and he needs to be made accountable!

The box idea is pretty nifty too! I like it! I do think however, that if you do it, you should choose non-food items for your box only because one of the things you want to learn is that food is NOT the end all of everything and one of the hardest things to break the cycle of is that food needs to be whereever we go, ie, parties, get togethers with friends, movies, etc. Think about it, how often do you do something where food is not involved? We go shopping and eat lunch out, we meet friends usually for dinner etc, we go to a movie and get food to watch it. If we can break the cycle that food had to accompany everything we do, that is a HUGE accomplishment for us.

I know this is long, but the above got me to thinking. Let's list all the things we almost always or always seem to have food at. This is a tough one ladies to look at, but I think it is important, really important:

Ok, here goes, confession time me first. I pretty much ALWAYS eat:

At friends homes
at the movies
when going shopping somewhere along the way
when I meet friends somewhere
at any kind of social function
any kind of shows etc like when we took T to the ice show etc
reading (this one has been a toughy for me)
watching tv (another toughy)

I probably will think of more. Now the good part is this is where I rarely eat anymore and for all these I used to all the time:

in bed
in the car
while on the computer

Ok ladies, fess up. When we look at this stuff we can see where we need to make improvements and believe me, breaking these habits is GOOD. I don't mean you can never go out to eat with friends, etc but that doing these things, in our heads means FOOD to us and we need to break the cycle. Let's vow to work on ONE area where we will not EAT everytime we do it ie, reading for me.

Faye VOWS that for the next month, I am NOT going to eat while reading or watching tv! NOT EVEN ONCE!

With that, I am out of here to get my chores done and finish the rest of my book WITHOUT FOOD!

Morning Ladies!
Gotta be quick......wouldn't want to be accused of being BLABBY!

4 points again yesterday! Didn't exercise this morning yet. I got up with dh, but ended up taking a nice looooonnngg shower (ok, it was mostly shaving the jungle growing on my legs.... )
But I'm planning to move some more wood this afternoon and that's usually a good 45 minute strength session.

Pam, I know how hard it is to get out of that no exercise slump! I was in one just last week.......days and days of no exercise. Just do it one day at a time, babe! Maybe you need to try something new to inspire you?

Hi ladies,

Welcome to Judy and Sue!. I'm sure you will both love it here!.

Judy - I am sorry for the death of your husband, losing him so suddenly must have been awful. I cannot believe the attitude of your step-kids - it makes me so angry!. You will always be accepted and loved here, and treated with the respect that you deserve.

Dorothy - How's it going sweetie?. I agree with the others - choosing to stick by Andrew is a decision that only you can make - it's definately a tough one whatever you choose to do. We are here for you and I will remember you both in my prayers.

Pam - I've got a confession - I'm struggling with my exercise aswell. I was in a really good routine but now I'm really struggling. I stopped my routine when I got PMS last month and I've found it really hard to get back into it. Maybe I should join you and Faye on your little challenge?. I've got PMS again (I can't believe it has come around so soon!), and I'm determined not to have a repeat of last month - I know exercise really helps my PMS, so I really should get down to it.

Faye- I think you are thinking of Belfast, which is where all the fighting was in Ireland. That is in Northern Ireland - I am going to Southern Ireland which is a completely different country. Northern Ireland is part of the UK (which is what all the fighting was about), where Southern Ireland is a republic, so it's completely safe. They've sorted out the problems in Northern Ireland, but I still wouldn't want to live there as there are still some rogue terroist groups.

I only got 1 point yesterday - I went out for a meal with my friend and got very drunk!

Bye Bye

Amanda: :flow2:

Amanda: DUH, I cannot believe I ask you that about Dublin! Sometimes, I amaze myself at stupid level! BTW, I can keep an evil eye on you too, so hop to it and get your tushy going on those tapes!

Man, I have black soot all over my fingers and fingernails. The cat's urine was a little strong so I am burning all my candles and broke off long wicks so now I have black hands, which soap will take off, but under my fingernails is the hard part!

I had a snack with no tv or book, yahoo! I wanted to turn the tv on, but I didn't. I had lowfat popcorn and a virgin bloody mary with hot sauce in it. YUM! Course, you can do the same thing with tomato juice, a little worcestershire and a little hot sauce. I just buy the mix in a bottle, chill it and pour it in a glass.

talk to you later ladies!

Good Afternoon Girls, how have you all been, good it sounds like...

Pam - WTG on getting back into exercising, that is the hardest part for me, I have the WATP dvd so maybe I should just start in doing that, you seem to really like it , huh? I have done the one mile and it goes by so fast....

Faye - Your daughter is a skinny minney - is she naturally like that or does she work at it? Good luck on your challenge I know you can do it...

Dorothy - good luck in whatever you choose - you'll do whats best...

Julie - I hear bellydancing is great exercise, but in the store? That is funny, you sound like a blast...

Sandy B - have fun with your husband tonight...."absence makes the heart grow fonder" right? Right....

Everyone else, hello...

I have been OP for 5 straight days in a row now, I am so proud of myself, now if I could incorporate exercise I would be on one heck of a roll, huh? I am on my TOM now so I dare not weigh myself tomorrow, I dont want to be depressed by the bloating...

Have a great afternoon everyone....

Good Morning All!

Thank you all for being so open and welcoming. I guess its time to properly introduce myself.

My name is Susan and I've grown up in the North West. I'm a sophomore at (transfering for winter term) the University of Oregon. I love Music, theater, and being silly with my friends. I have no significant other, but a large family the imediate of wich includes my parents and 4 siblings, all about 10 years older, but we are still close and I love them all dearly.
I've been a chubby girl for as long as I can remeber and the time has come to stop my bad habbits. I'm not quite sure what my all time high was because I wasn't weighing myself at the time, but this July I weighed in at 218 wich is the highest I've ever seen the scale. I'm now at 194 as of last friday and am working toward 150 by my 21st birthday in January 2005. I drink water and go to the campus gym 3-4 days a week. On other days I still have to ride my bike and walk around campus. I want to drop the weight so that I can FEEL young and be the 20-something I know I can be. :dizzy:

P.S. How can you get those icons by your name:?:

10-30-2003, 03:07 PM
Ok, I gotta explain about the supermarket! When I was in college (and skinny!) I made my living doing "bellygrams" which are like singing telegrams, only I danced instead of singing. My very first assignment was for this guy who was retiring from the meat department at a local market. I was so nervous, but I said to myself "Self, I'm making a crap-load of money for doing this and it's gonna make some poor guy happy. If I can do this one thing, I can do ANYTHING!!!" So I did. I bellydanced for 5 minutes right in the middle of the grocerystore. And gave him his balloons and took a picture with me on his lap and walked away with 120 bucks!

Let's see, I've also done belly grams at a truckstop, country clubs, hotels, Bennigans, a furniture factory, schools, conventions....none were as weird as that grocery store though! Whenever I get nervous about doing something new, I just think back to that day and remember that I can do anything! Even lose weight once and for all.

Oh, I never got to say welcome to Judy and Susan.........WELCOME to our crazy group!!

Until soon,

Susan: To add what they call an avatar (either a pic or one of their selection) go to the top of you posting page and you should see USER CP. CLick on it go to edit options, click on it and scroll all the way down and you will see avatar and a button that says change avatar. Click on it and it should show you all the avatars you can pick from or you can use a personal picture. Scroll down past the list of avatars and you will see a browse button where you can load a pic, but it has to be really tiny I think 50 x 50 or something like that so you will have to resize any pic you want to put on. Hope that helps. You have given yourself plenty of time to lose the weight and I know you can do this!

Julie: You are ALL guts girl!

Carri: Kelly is very tiny but carries all of her weight in her behind, poor thing. Her husband is secretly terrified she is going to become me so I think he harrasses her about her weight. I keep out of it as it is not my business, but if I ever noticed something hinky about the way she eats etc, believe me I will step in husband or no husband. I like my sil but he has a very thin mother and sister and no clue what is is like to be overweight because he is a beanpole. He has no tolerance, but I think he knows to keep his mouth shut to everyone but his wife about me because I won't put up with it. She told me she asked him if he could tell I had lost weight. His response, "all fat people look alike to me." Plain disgusting ignorance is what it is so I told her, that he wouldn't acknowledge me when I become goal weight so I sure am not worried about what he thinks. I wouldn't let my own husband say anything to me, which he never would, so I am certainly not going to let that little pipsqueak get my goat! My husband worries Kelly is anorexic, but she eats and doesn't purge when I am around her and I know she weighs at least 125 lbs so she is NOT anorexic she is just tiny boned.

Well I need to go so you ladies have a nice afternoon!

Faye :dizzy:

10-30-2003, 04:32 PM
Faye - your sil sounds like a real treat to be around....with those kind of people you just be as cordial as you have to be, since he is family, and that is it...how rude....You are looking great so ignore that kind of attitude ( and I know that you do ! ) - love the new hair !

Good afternoon girls...wow I had a lot of catching up to do with all yours posts today...you girls been busy;)

Thanks once again for the continued support you girls are giving me while I am going through this situation...I am very grateful...thank you:) .

Pam-way to go girl!!! Proud of you keep it up...I know its hard. I decided today that I will make it a point to walk during 30 min of my lunch break if not the full hour to get some sort of activity in:D .

SandyB-wow you must be excited about your hubby coming back today. My parents fly in today and I am excited to see them too. Think I might take Gizmo to the airport to pick them up, some how he really attached to my mom, when she is in the house he ignores me and even sleeps with her! The rascal

Faye- I just wanted to reassure you you look great! Love the hair color and you're right you sil is just plain ignorant. Oh and I totally understand the strong cat urine smell...my big cat, Kit, sometimes does one of those...it's like a stink bomb, I immediately have to clean his litter box, open windows and spray neutralizers all over the apt:lol:  .

3 things I am Thankful of today are:
1-my parents are flying in tonight
2-This thing with Andrew is not affecting my staying on program
and other mini goals
3-Halloween is tomorrow and I am spending time with my family
and trick or treating...I am dressing up as the excorcist( dd I
spell that right??):D

Julie-wow that bellydancing 'grams musta been fun huh? I need to start doing that, once I have some extra cash...been paying off lots of debts.:D so I can be good by the summer and then save up to move to another apt during the following summer.

Amanda- hi girlie, thanks for your support...hey just wanted to say :cp: :grouphug: for quitting smoking again we all proud of you.

okay sorry if I missed anyone...take care you all.

Hello Girls!

Had a great 2 days off, now time to go back to work. 3-9 tonight then back at 7 in the am!!! ugh! then I am sure 11-7 on Sunday. off days again? who knows! But, I am grateful to have a job!! I must remember that! It helps me to have the things I need. (thank you God!) okay, going to practice at being more grateful, too easy to get caught up in all of "what we think is wrong in our lives", I certainly do have "many things that are RIGHT", I HAVE MANY BLESSINGS. (friends like you are at the top of the list of course):D

pts for yesterday: 4! got in my water, stayed on my program, and GOT MY EXERCISE....YIPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPEEEEEEEEEE:lol:

PROGRESS: 9/18 - 318.2
10/16 - 311.3
10/29 - 309.2 = 9.0 lbs down

10-31-2003, 08:55 AM
Morning chickies! And happy spooky day :)

Got 3 points for yesterday.....not enough water, totally distracted. But I did manage to get the exercise in, even though I was seriously thinking about blowing it off! But I bought alot more snack food at the grocery store this time....all healthy stuff, but still snack food. So, I need to be careful about that unconscious eating thing. Make sure I measure out the snacks, sit down and enjoy them instead of scarfing down a whole bag and going back to look for more

I'm another 2 pounds down!!!! WOO HOO!! 221 for me :D This one and two pound thing used to drive me crazy cuz it seemed sooooo slow, but it sure adds up in a hurry! And the numbers keep going DOWN, not down and up and up and down. So, Thanks to all of you! I couldn't do it alone (I tried for ten years!)

Dorothy, that's awesome about you taking dance classes. I just know you're going to love them!!! Who is the instructor? Can't wait to hear about your first class (hint, hint)

Well, gotta go.....kidlets are already in the van.

Hey, it's Halloween and I haven't had ANY CANDY during the whole "pre-Halloween" season! Which starts here in late August. Not even a single piece of candy corn!!!! WTG FOR ME I even strategized the whole TorT thing. I bought one bag of tootsie pops, which I don't really like, and I'm putting it outside in a bowl for other kids while I take mine out. With any luck, it will all be gone before I get back. I am going to a party tonight, though, which is bound to have lots of yummies. So, I think I'll try to stay realllly light today so I can have some and not do too much damage.

Anyone else have spooky strategies for tonight???

10-31-2003, 11:06 AM
CONGRATS JULIE!!! WTG on your 2# loss and your no candy!! I lost another pound too! I agree... 1 and 2 are fine by me... as long as it keeps coming OFF...lol Got all 4 yesterday... will be carefull today as i am making the lasagna but shoudl be able to stay op... have to get ready and do the shopping then get cooking... take care of u... love you all!!

SandyB: Great job girl! :encore:

Julie: :cb: :hat: :balloons: on the lbs lost this week! Good job!

Pam: I am watching you girl and you are doing a good job, keep it up! I stayed OP yesterday too!

I trepidaciously stood on the scales and discovered a 4.5 loss which I will certainly take!

I hope everyone has a fun day today. We are going over to the big T's house and handing out candy while they trick or treat and then having dinner with them. My big boy is going to be a skeleton this year.

DON'T FORGET! We are looking forward to some SPOOKY pictures of the kids or you too!

Have a good day ladies. I have to get my chores done and some breakfast in me.

My tv-reading thing went well until dinner got finished while watching OPRAH. Other than that, I did a good job with it yesterday.

Faye :)

10-31-2003, 11:18 AM

Just checking, I did my 2 miles! feeling strong!!!

Be back later girls:D

10-31-2003, 12:20 PM
Good Morning!

I am happy to report dropping another pound this week which puts me at 25 total loss! I'm now 5 pounds away from my next mini goal of 188 wich is one pound less than I know (as in seeing the scale) I've weighed my entire full grown life. The only time I remeber weighing less than that was when I was in the 5th grade and was somewhere just over the 100lbs mark :^: I've been up in the 190-220 range for a good 5-7 years now.

I get 3 points for yesterday. I drank plenty of Water and got to the gym, but I attended some Halloween festivities last night and they had Caramels! I'm going to try to control myself this weekend though, I'm heading out of town and I'm always tempted to over eat when I do that.

I had a very sad moment last night. My friend Trevor is about 130lbs overweight. He and I were walking across campus when a car drove by and shouted out of the window "get a treadmill" at him. I could not believe it. It just made me angry at how ignorant and hateful some people can act. I just thank God that Trevor didn't make out what they said. :(

218/193/150 - 188 next baby step!

happy dance dot
10-31-2003, 12:28 PM
Happy Halloween!!

I got all 4pts yesterday...lots of exercise and running around.

Congrats to all the losers:D I will weigh in on Sunday and let you all know, but I have a feeling I have lost...well very busy here at work today so I will check back later or tomorrow.

Enjoy the rest of the day...TGIF and Happy Halloween!

10-31-2003, 02:34 PM

Dorothy :bravo:
Susan :cp:

Susan: First off, let me say that you cannot control the ignorant behavior of other people. I know you felt bad for Trevor, but Trevor needs to get his back up and stand up to jerks like that. I believe that all people no matter the size are beautiful outside and that our obsession with how a person looks is twisted. I DO believe we should take control of ourselves and make ourselves healthy and look better IF we are not satisfied with ourselves, but it is a choice only we can make individually. I don't know if Trevor is actively trying to lose weight, but if he isn't, just love and care about him the way he is. There is nothing wrong with the way he looks unless HE thinks so and wants to change. If you feel he could use some encouragement, please logon to my website at www.freewebs.com\trexnonny/ and have Trevor check it out. I set it up not only to help me with my journey, but to encourage others that are obese like I am to make positive changes in their lives KNOWING that they CAN! Secondly, I just wanted to congratulate you on your weight loss! You are doing a great job and getting control of your life!

Dorothy: You are doing great, Dot, keep it UP!!!

You guys, tv was so funny this morning. I was watching Wayne Brady's talk show and he was dressed as Sammy Davis Jr. He had on some guy that brought a bunch of creepy animals and a female chimpanzee. Wayne was fooling around jumping around with the ape and SPLIT HIS PANTS right on camera. It was hilarious. Then on Sharon Osbourne's show, she had Ozzie on with her today and you know he is like 3/4 brain dead anyway and she has this guest that carves halloween stuff out of wood and Dennis Rodman was with them. Ozzie breaks wind and I guess stinks up the whole place. Everyone scattered so it must have been pretty bad, but it was pretty funny too! The guy who carves using a chainsaw said something like, "I am glad my chain saw wasn't on or the whole place would have exploded!

Well, I need to get some more things done. Hope everyone is having a great day!

Well, my dd mucked up my op tonight. We were supposed to have Subway and she went and bought BBQ stuff. I only ate a sandwich not the other stuff, but I can't count my calories because I don't know how much etc. BUMMER.

Here is my little scary guy! Thomas is a grown up 3 years old going on 30. He and I did "skeleton" kissing and I ended up with black and white makeup all over my face. Looked like something from back in the riverboat "blackface" days! He had a good time and will probably be able to fund his dentist's new house now!

Talk to you all in the morning. Looking forward to seeing those pics, ladies!

Faye :)

11-01-2003, 08:29 AM
SATURDAY: Today is Sunny Thoughts Saturday! Share with us something funny or sunny!

As usual, my funny is about Thomas. They are trying to teach him that it is improper to show his underwear to people. (He likes to show everyone what pictures are on them etc). They just had a satellite system put in a couple days ago and Thomas was showing the installer his underwear! Kelly said that wasn't the worst though. She and her husband were in their bedroom with the installer trying to move stuff so he could put it in and Thomas came running in yelling at the top of his lungs, "My penis is on fire, my penis is on fire!" Is he related to his NONNY or what?

Talk later ladies!

Hi girls just popping in quickly to say hi. Hope everyone had a good halloween...I went trick or treating with my nephews and managed to get some candy myself...heeheehee it was fun.

I got 4pts for yesterday. I weigh in tomorrow and see how it goes, but for some reason I don't think very good...TOM is here once again!!! I think the new birth control may be too low in hormones and isn't working on me very well, I need to speak with my gyn and see how I can go around it...I can't use the other ones because of my PCOS...bummer...okay that's all girls take care.

Hi all, my computer has been down for the last couple of days. I have missed you!

I guess everybody weighs in on Friday. I weighed in at 298---ugh. Got a lot of work to do.

Points, 2 for Wed and 1 each for Thur and Fri, 2 for Sat. Getting my water in and getting better about exercising. The tips for my swollen ankles and legs are working, they weren't bad at all on Friday! Grocery shopping is on the agenda for tomorrow. Looking for good, low carb stuff that my son will like too.

I have news for today. I have been talking with a gentleman on line and on the phone for the last 3 weeks and I finally met him in person today! I went to see him at his work, he manages a convenient store, nice and safe, lots of people around. Very nice guy, we are going out next weekend. A date!!! OMG, it has been a long time. What do I wear??? A whole week to get stressed!!!

Question, do ya'll put your current weight and goal weight and such in the signature part of the post, so it posts automatically each time?? Or do you type it in each time?

SUNDAY: Today is Silly Poll Sunday. Our Silly poll for today is:

You work for a PR firm that gave you tickets to the Oscars. Your significant other cannot go so the firm arranged a celebrity date. Who takes you?(lots of pretending ladies, some of these men ar MARRIED TOO!)

Young Stud-Brad Pitt
Playful-Jack Black
Middle aged gorgeous man-Pierce Brosnan
Computer geek very rich-Bill Gates
Mega Famous director-Ron Howard
Politician-Favorite Senator from your political party
Older interesting man- Paul Newman
Or "Hey I can go alone without a date!"

Very quiet around here yesterday. No one posted but me until last night after my last peek in!

Dorothy :bravo:
Judy :grouphug: :flow2: :flow2: :grouphug:

Judy: That is great! Hope this guy works out for you and turns out to be just right! As for yours stats, if you go to the user CP button up on top and go to edit profile, stick all your info in the signature box and it will post every time, then just go back when you stats change and edit them.

Brother, my food this weekend has been a disaster. We are shampooing carpets downstairs so the only place to stick furniture is the entranceway and kitchen which means high fat junk, but the last of the carpets is done today and I can move most of the furniture back this morning, yippee. My exercise consisted of moving furniture this weekend and walking around Lowes for an hour, but I am going to the mall to walk sometime today to get it in.

As for the poll, I think I would go with the Senator. That way, I could unload what I think about what is going on with this country! Luckily, Bill Frist who is the Senate Majority leader is from here in Tennessee so I get a double shot! :) I can wave to all the other cuteys I guess.

Well, need to get going, have lots to do today!

Hi girls just quickly in here to let you know I lost 1 lb this week...freakin' TOM I hate being irregular! lol...okay I wil check back later gotta run.

11-02-2003, 04:04 PM
Hello everyone!
Boy, yesterday was one of those days where I just got NOTHING accomplished....sat around like a SLUG and just wanted to eat, eat, eat!!!!! Don't know exactly where that came from, I haven't felt that way in a long time. I did eat waaaayyyy more than normal, but since I don't have any sugary or high fat snacks in the house, I was stuck eating air popped popcorn, frozen grapes and skinny cows (3). SO, all in all, I guess it coulda been much worse. It was definitely binge thinking, though. I could tell I was eating out of boredom, but I couldn't get excited about doing anything.

Then today, I'm totally motivated to do all the stuff like hanging pictures on the walls, changing out the summer curtains, vacuuming under the beds, cleaning the kids' rooms. WHAT THE F*#&@ IS UP WITH THAT????? Very very strange days.

So, like 1 point for water on Sat. and Today I'll get 2 for water and exercise, but we have to go out to eat tonight at a fast food joint before fighter practice, so I'll likely go over. THough maybe not, last time we went to McD's I just had a side salad. The smell of the grease turned my stomach.

Well, gotta go.......hope everyone is having a fabulous weekend

ps, I tried to get halloween photos up here, but the camera messed them up somehow.
oh, well. I think I had low batteries.

11-02-2003, 04:07 PM
Oh, and about the silly poll.........how about older but fascinating movie star Sean Connery? That's who I'd pick.

11-02-2003, 04:34 PM
JUlie: I was trying to think of good looking men and Sean Connery would have been a good one! I might have gone with him myself! I'm sorry we won't get to see your youngins' pics, I was looking forward to it!

Julie :flow2:

Sure is quiet around here today. I finished the carpets downstairs and got the downstairs cleaned so it is the upstairs tomorrow except the shampooing has to wait until next weekend. I don't think dh trusts me to do it!

Everyone have a nice rest of the weekend!

11-02-2003, 06:12 PM

Hello Ladies,
Got my gorcery shopping done, all good stuff, low carb. Tonight its grilled pork chops and asparagus for me and wild rice for Billy---he doesn't do green! (yet)
I actually got all 4 points today!! Yea. This is fun.
For our poll, I watched "The Thomas Crown Affair" this afternoon so I would definately be hanging out with Pierce Brosnan---boy I wish I looked like Rene Russo-WOW.
Off to get Billy back from his Dad---have a wonderful evening.

Hello All,
I'm back from a weekend visiting friends for Halloween festivities. I wasn't good like I hoped I would be but I'll be working hard this week to correct that. The funky picture is of me on Halloween

Poll: Is George Cloony an option?:dizzy:

Oh Faye, my love................I'm soooo sorry to hear about Jack. My heartfelt prayers for him and you went up as soon as I read your post. :grouphug: :grouphug:

Please remember to take care of YOU while you're taking care of him. Be gentle with yourself! Take comfort in what love others can give you, don't "save" your grief and fear for when you are alone.

If you want, I will be happy to take over the "points" business again so you can concentrate on Jack.

Remember we love you and are here for you! Be strong and I'm sure you'll both pull through this just fine.

Wow, so many heartattacks lately.......makes me wish I had gotten serious about eating healthy and exercising so long ago!

BIG HUGS to everyone today!

I love you guys so much! Thank you for everything. Julie, I would really appreciate it for a few days until things settle down if you would take over the points.

I got good news and bad news at the hospital. Good news is Jack is doing well with the 2 shunts and the angioplasty. He is resting comfortably and has a nice pink skin again. Bad news is this afternoon we talked to his cardiologist and we thought it was a minor thing but turns out is was a major heart attack with the front artery 100% blocked and enlarged to 3 times its size. Dr Anderson said if I had not called the paramedics when I did he would have died. He did have permanent heart damage but we don't know right now how serious it is. I thank Jesus for protecting him. He is everything to me. He cried this afternoon and told me, "You know I was really really scared and I said, "I know." and he said, "I wasn't scared about dying you know I know what will happen when I die, but I was scared I would be separated from you!" Ok, that did it. I had been holding it all in and the dam burst with that. Kelly has been an angel and taken such good care of me. When the chips are down, she has really come through.

I love you all and will keep you posted!
