A bunch of us started out in the EXERCISE forum as a group using Beach Body "POWER" products like Power Half Hour or Power 90. Individual's cirmcumstances had us fall away from these POWER products, but we still kept on coming to our thread (26 pages worth:eek: :cp: ) to give and get support in whatever program we were currently following. We decided that our name and the forum we were in was misleading, so we thought we'd rename and move our thread.

We invite ANYONE to join in! We all DO have the POWER to accomplish our weight loss goals and we are MORE POWERFUL together.

Well, I hope my opening post is ok for everyone.

I just wanted to report in that I actually DID some exercise yesterday. I got on my elliptical for a half hour "hilly" program.

If I keep up the exercise, I'll eat better too. I find when I exercise, I don't want to snack on the chips at night. So here's hoping :crossed: I continue. I'll have to keep the marathon brochure around where I'll see it all the time to remind me what I'm working towards (for those of you just joining us, I'm hoping to run either a 10K or a half marathon in May).

MIKI--Glad you're liking your new tape. If you like the exercise you're doing, you're going to do it. Way to go!

I just read some of your posts from your previous thread. My dh and I started the power 90 yesterday. I have been exercising almost daily for two yrs now. The first yr I lost 40 lbs. But I leveled off and have been maintaining. I hope the power 90 is what I need to kick it up. I look foward to posting on here and getting to know some of you and what other exercise programs you are doing. As for the dieting, I just do portion control and dring a lot of water. Like I said, hope this works to get those last few stubborn pounds off.

Hi guys! I was down all weekend w/this sinus stuff. Had to get 2wks more antibotics so I'm going to be gentle on my bod this week, workout-wise. Walks at lunch and light weight training in the evenings.

Good news is that I had a full bloodwork done and since I dumped the low carb, low fat lifestyle, ALL my counts are GREAT! I eat more high protein, good fat now and my cholestral is down, blood sugar is great and liver and kidney functions ROCK! HOORAY! :)

Zanne, thanks for setting up the new thread. You summarized our purpose perfectly in the opening post. Hooray for you for getting in that elliptical workout.

Ricci, Welcome to our "powerful" group.;) I have lost 47 lbs in the last year and like you, the scale has now come to a standstill over the last several months. (I also did/am doing portion control but have been slack in the water drinking lately) Maintaining is better than gaining for sure, but I still need to lose about 30 more lbs. Hearing that you've been exercising regularly for 2 yrs now is an inspiration for me to keep going. I did the Power Half Hour tapes for 4 weeks and enjoyed them. I'm sure you'll like doing the Power 90 ones especially since dh is going to be there working out with you. (I am currently doing Tamilee Webb's "I Want That Body" tape on Mon,Wed, Fri and walking 3 miles the other days)

Mindi, hate hearing you're still under the weather. You're doing the right thing by taking it easy tho. You dont want to get worse. Glad to hear the news that all your blood work turned out great!

I dont know about the rest of you but just starting in this new thread has motivated me to really try harder to accomplish my goals. I'm totally hyped about it! Thanks again, Zanne, for getting it up and running for us.

My sciatica is back with a vengence! I have a PT appointment this Friday to get it checked out. Hopefully I can get it under control without any meds.

I am down three pounds in the last two weeks. Slow but sure!

Back on day shift now, so it's harder for me to post, but I wanted to let you all know I was thinking of you and will check in hopefully weekly!

Miki, thanks for your sympathy re: this sinus crap. I'm doing 2 more weeks of antibiotics and painkillers. I can't believe that a sinus infection could hurt so but it does! The pressure of the cavities is pressing on my teeth and OH, it HURTS! I'll get your videos back to you next week, is that soon enough? I'm going to try to buy them on Ebay or a swap somewhere. I really get a kick out of Tony. LOL

Got the PMS hunger this week, I HATE THAT! My workouts are going well, I don't want to screw it up by eating too much! grrrr!!

I'm in no hurry for the tapes so dont rush on my account. Seriously, you're welcome to keep them if you want. I will never use them without my sis and she has copies also. Did you work out using the Buns one yet?? It KILLED me...lol

Hope you kick that nasty sinus infection very soon. You know it's bad when your teeth literally hurt. I hate that! It's a miserable feeling.

OH almost forgot! Actually got off that 195 mark that I've been on since June or July!! This morning it was between 192 and 193! YEAHHHHHH

Well, need to run....Josh is buggin me to have a turn on the computer.

I'm going to take it easy this weekend, may not work out at all, other than ordinary chores. I'm also going to make a big pot of vegetable soup. I love soup when I'm not feeling so perky and truthfully, a good friend of mine who recently lost 80lbs, did it by always eating a cup of homemade veg soup before her meals or as a snack. it cut her hunger and its very healthy, and easy to make.

So I'm off to the store to find some good stuff to throw in my soup. I hope you all have a great Sat.!

Homemade soup sounds yummy. I'm ready for some good cool soup-eating weather. I may have to try your friend's idea of keeping it on hand for between and before meal snacks.

Worked today but home now so the weekend is getting better. It rained a little earlier and is getting cooler. Supposed to be a high of 50 tomorrow which will be nice for walking.

Hope your restful weekend helps you get well and energized for the upcoming week. Taking it easy is probably just what you need.

Hi girls! Been busy so I've slacked on my net time. Sad, ain't it? :)

Had a CT scan yesterday for my sinuses..they just aren't getting better and I'm tired of begging the doc for pain meds..he acts like I'm asking for morphine for crying out loud! geesh!

Anyway, I should have the results tomorrow and then maybe we can get to the bottom of this crap.

Other than that, the weather's turned COLD here..rainy, windy too. I'd like to get a new coat this year, (not like I don't have 100 already!), but I shouldn't. I need to pay for new glasses, a new crown (tooth) and will have to pay some of the medical stuff that my insurance doesn't pick up. Plus, Christmas is coming..so probably no coat for me. wah!

I also want new boots and new clothes! LOL Not to mention new workouts! I want this one called "Hardcore Kickboxing," by Janis Saffil, that I may get. Its more in my budget. :)

Eating too much the past couple of days. I did really well all last week, mainly because I just didn't feel hungry at all, but yesterday and today I've been STARVING!! I did suck down some chocolate, and MUST STOP THAT!!!

Anyway, hope all of you are well and working out! Happy Halloween!!

Mindi, did you get the results of your CT scan? I hope you get something soon to get you well. Your finances sound about like mine lately...my oven is messed up--thermostat is way off, hubby had a flat yesterday--new tire, Christmas coming up, my hours at work have been short the last couple of weeks, kids have outgrown most of last winter's clothes, most of mine are too baggy now (which is a good thing except for having to buy new ones at this time of year)...just seems like something new we need money for every day.

Zanne, have you gotten back into your Power 90? Hope to hear from you soon!

Ricci, how are things going with you? I've done pretty well this week until today.:^: Actually I did fine until after 3:00 pm then it just went downhill with my eating. I havent done any exercise either but I havent missed a day in a long time and decided to take a break.

Chach, it was good to hear from you. Drop in anytime. We want to keep in touch with you and how you're doing. :)

Well, not really any news. Feeling miserable because I nibbled here and there all afternoon. Just wanna hit the couch now. I will definitely do better tomorrow!

Hi ya Miki! All is well w/my scan and I'm feeling much better today!

You know I have just GOT to get control of my food! I've been walking a couple miles a day and working out at night as well but while I'm changing shape somewhat, I'm not down any inches or pounds and I know my calorie intake is the problem.

I'm going to have to "Dr. Phil" myself and get on the stick and keep count of food intake!

Ok Miki, we make a pact! We watch our pennies AND our calories!!! deal?????

Ok Mindi...it's a deal.....we now WILL stay accountable on being more thrifty with our money and keeping our calorie count low. Now, If I can just get rid of all this candy around the house. Holidays dont make this weightloss any easier, do they?

I have been doing really well. The P90 really keeps me motivated. Other videos i would do for about a week and get bored. I am getting ready to start week 3. I have done pretty good on my eating, calorie wise, but i need to eat healthier. We plan on doing that this weekend. I hear you about the finances. Hubby has usually been working only 4 days a week. Luckily its picked up some at his work and he is still there right now. But, kids need new clothes, car needs oil change, rent is due next week, Christmas is coming up, it just goes on and on doesn't it? I took my boys out trick or treating for about an hour tonight and they had a blast. Kind of mad at the weather though. All week they said its going to be warm friday night. Well, it cooled off about 25 degrees more than they expected. Oh well. At least the costumes were warm. Hope you all have a great weekend. I know you can great with your eating, I can feel it.

I read that Tony is working on a new Power90 workout set. Anyone hear about it? Check it out on www.beachbody.com. He's keeping a journal of putting this series together. I've not had a chance to read it yet, but some of my Vidiot pals are enjoying it a lot!

No candy here! Got rid of it all..and I will NOT be sucked into ANY half-price sales today either. LOL

Ricci, thanks for reminding me...I had forgotten it's time for an oil change in my car too! You're right...it goes on and on. Glad you're still enjoying your Power 90 tapes. It's so much easier when your workout is actually fun. I'm still liking my workout tape also.

Mindi, I'll have to check out beachbody soon. Havent been to that site in awhile. I have decided that as of Monday, I am getting seriously back down to business with my better eating habits. I'm keeping up my exercise fine, just gotta get the eating regulated.

No news here....hope ya'll are both having a nice weekend. I'll check in again tomorrow.

Busy to say the least! All aggravation though with work and stuff. grrrr.

I did the Power 1/2hr Buns last night Miki, I can't believe how a 1/2 tape can whip my butt like that one does...I end up dripping in sweat and I can't keep up on the chair squats! Jeesh!

Sore today too.

Cold now, did a walk at lunch, I need to get a hat for this weather, I cut off my hair and my poor ears are freezing during these walks. LOL

That's Weird! I typed up a post the other day and addressed you all. Wonder where it went?:?:

Anyway, I haven't been doing my exercising.:( I've been getting really tired beginning early in the day for a while. On Friday, I could have fallen asleep anywhere in an instant. I saw the doc on Monday and she took a bunch of blood to try to figure out what's up. I've been telling her for a couple of months that I get really tired, but so far nothing has showed up in the blood. I do have an underactive thyroid that I take meds for, but it seems to be doing ok (I felt exhausted like this when I found out my thyroid was not functioning properly).

I really want to exercise, but I'm just too exhausted even around 9 in the morning. Doc said that I should add a bit more walking to my day--If I have chronic fatigue syndrome, the extra bit of exercise may help. So I'm hoping to gradually build up and get back to the Power 90 workout.

I DID get a good workout the past couple of days tho. I put in a small interlock path between our driveway and front porch. All the lifting of the heavy stuff and the squating and shoveling. I'm really tired and a bit sore just now, but it's a good sore. I felt tired doing the work but just pushed thru it. I'll have to try that with a workout soon.

I also need to work on my eating. TOO MANY Halloween treats! But I have been making better choices today. I've been grabbing triscuits and cheese and roasted pumpkin seeds to munch on and some juice when I want chocolate. So I'm getting a bit better. Just have to work on getting more water in.

MINDI--Good for you for getting in your exercise! Try to not let the rotten stuff at work get to you.

MIKI--I really DID have a post done up a couple days ago. How's your eating doing this week?

NEED2--You're doing GREAT! Keep it up. I really wanted to get back into the Power 90 with you, but I just didn't have the stamina.

CHACHEE--Hate to hear your sciatica is really bad again. I hope you heal quickly. I'm really glad to hear that you've lost a few pounds! Keep up the good work, but I know it will be difficult with the sciatica.

Hi everybody

Sorry your post didnt show up, Zanne. I was wondering what you'd been up to lately. Glad to hear from you today. I hope the walking helps you get your strength back soon so you can exercise the way you want to. Until then, tho, you can just focus on the eating part. I've got to get more water in also. I just cant seem to make myself keep up with that part. My eating is so-so...could be better but has been way worse too at times. Still doing fine with the exercise so far.

Mindi, that buns tape kicked my butt for sure. It's the only one that made me really really sore. Still warm weather here. Actually was back up to almost 90 some afternoons this week. Crazy for November weather!

I hope Ricci is having a good week. Maybe we'll hear from her soon.

Well, just finished working out with some weights with my hubby and sis. I have a feeling I'll be VERY sore tomorrow. I think I should take a hot bath now to get a headstart on easing the soreness.:lol:

Miki, what sets and reps did you do last night? I worked shoulders, tris and abs last night and the tris are beginning to sore up this am.

Sorry I haven't been on much. We have been having computer problems, kicking us off line every 5 minutes or so, and it crashed last night. Its working fine today though.
Zanne, I hope you get back into working out the way you want to soon. Miki, sounds like your doing good. You too, Mindi. Where in the midwest do you live?
I have been doing the p90 workouts for a little over two weeks now. I am a little dissapointed that I haven't seen more results. I have been getting my water in and watching my portions when I eat. I haven't been back for seconds in about three weeks. It makes me mad that I am trying so hard to do this and get into shape, and not seeing results, but hubby is still eating like he always does, not drinking as much water as me, and is getting really good results.:censored: Maybe when I switch to 3/4 cardio next week, something will happen. I will check in with you later.

Hi everybody!

Mindi, Wed morning I did the "I Want that Body" video then Wed nite, I worked arms and shoulders with my weights..3 sets of 15 on each muscle group. Did bicep curls with 20 lb barbell, did hammer curls with 10 lbs, did bicep curls again with individual 15 lb weights, did some tricep work with 10 lbs, etc. Just starting out, that's all the weight I can handle. I didnt get bad sore like I thought I would. I did that same routine again today.(Fri) There were more exercises than that but I dont know what they are called..lol Oh, I replied to your email today also.

Ricci. glad your computer was cooperating today. I hate when we have problems with ours. Keep up the good work with the Power 90. I've only heard good things about that workout. Dont give up for sure....men always lose quicker than we do. My husband is the same way. Once he sets his mind to it, it's like it just happens but I have to constantly work at it and still he passes me up as far as results. Makes me furious for him to lose when I know he eats alot more than me.:p

Ate too much today:( Did fine til tonite when we ended up having Chinese buffet. I just cant stop at all-u-can-eat buffets. I refuse to go to anymore of those til I lose some more weight!!

Well gotta run. Going to my youngest sis' baby shower tomorrow out of town. Need to iron, etc before bedtime.

Ricci, I'm in Iowa. Looks like we're neighbors! As for your results, take your time, its only been 2wks, give yourself more time to adjust. Don't expect to get results as they claim..all those ads are so full of BS that I could scream! I wish they wouldn't that....very few people get those kind of fast results and then they get down and quit. Actually, its better to get slower results anyway..those are the LASTING ones! Also, make sure you're eating enough too. Sometimes the body will rebel and shut itself down to avoid dropping fat, in fear its being starved. So figure out how many calories you're putting in, if its less than 1500-2000, you may well be in starvation mode. Eat! :)

Ok no workout for moi today. I had an ecletic week of walking, P-halfhour, Taebo and Cathe and I'm SORE so am taking today off. I'll see about tomorrow. May hit my kick/punch bag. I really really want to take boxing lessons someday! :)

hope you all had a good day. It was still really cold here. I haven't been able to take my boys out to play for almost 5 days now. They are sooo restless. I think its suppossed to warm up some tomorrow, we'll see.
Mindi, I know the results in the ads are all a bunch crap for the most part. I was just frustrated that hubby was losing weight quicker than me, and I have been trying for almost two yrs, and he just started. Oh well. I am not giving up. I hope your keeping warm I am sure you all are colder than we are down here. Miki and Zanne, I hope you are having a good weekend. Keep up the good work.

How's everyone doing?

My eating is getting better, but the water has to be improved!

I went to a wedding last night and loaded up on meat and veggies--didn't touch the rolls or potatoes. Yeah me! and today I went to Sams and picked up a big bag of baby carrots and a big bag of cut up broccoli. If it's already prepared, I'll be more likely to eat it. Also got some nuts to snack on instead of the potato chips.

I was having a blast at the wedding and dancing a lot--till I felt something "rip" at the top of my hip bone. I figure I pulled a ligament or tendon or something. I still kept dancing but the hip told me when I moved the wrong way. Seems to be getting better thru the day, so I hope it will only take a couple days to mend.

NEED2--why can't you take the boys out in the cold? Is it raining too? MINDI is right--the guys always lose faster than us. It's just the way things are. So don't compare yourself to DH. Keep up the good attitude. I've read that some people don't see a change for a month or 6 weeks and then BAM! all of a sudden a change seems to come over night.

MINDI--Hope I don't meet you in a dark alley and tick you off! Boxing lessons, huh? Actually, I like the boxing part of Power 90 a lot!

MIKI--You go girl with the exercise! The food part will come. It will take time to unlearn the bad habits and learn the good ones.

Time to take it easy for a wee bit in front of the idiot box.

Susanne, I can and do take the boys out when its cold and not windy. But the wind chill just makes it bad. Right now I am wimping out. We have been in the 70's until last wednesday, and then it got cold. In a few days when we are used to it I wll take them out. Here's a tip on drinking water. I went to wal mart and bought a 64 oz mug and fill it up with water every day. That way I know when its gone I got at least my 8 glasses in. Usually I drink more, but sometimes its just the one jug. I am trying to get used to drinking more of it now, especially with the winter coming on. You just don't feel like drinking water when its cold. Hope everyone has a good week.

hello everyone.
this week will be great. i will make sure i exercise 5x this week.
i will follow my eating plan of no sugar and no white flour all week.
mon-friday. this saturday i do plan on going to the movies with the family so i do not think i can eat rice cakes and jicama again while they are eating that buttery popcorn. This probably will be the last time the family will be out together for awhile. So i will make saturday my day off if and only if i complete my 5x of exercise this week along with taking my supplements daily and following my eating plan on no white sugar or white flour. i will make sure i do a stomach workout 3x this week also. my official weigh in day is on thurs. however since i am a dedicated scale addict i weighed myself this morning and i am 206.

I really need daily motivation so if anyone can give me any suggestions for motivation to exercise 5x this week i would sure appreciate it.

My hip is a bit better today. Although it was a little difficult getting up the hill from the school. I just took my time. i think I'll get my eating under control this week and as soon as the hip is feeling good (hopefully by the end of the week or beginning of next) I'll start to exercise.

RICCI--That wind can be awful! I have to wear earplugs when the wind is gusting in the winter. Otherwise inside my ears gets really painful. How I wish we had had 70's! We've been in the 30's--if we're lucky low 40's. In the early mornings it's been in the 20's!!!:eek: Thanks for the tip about the water. I had a large mug, but I seem to like drinking right from the bottles better:shrug: I can chug down a 500ml bottle no problem and I try to make sure I have at least 4 of them a day. Just sometimes I get out of the habit when other stuff is going on and then it's difficult to get back in the habit. But today I've already had 2 bottles and will soon be on my third!

KDRULES--Welcome! What kind of exercise are you doing? I wouldn't worry about the popcorn. Have it and enjoy and then get back on track. My personal opinion is that it's ok to indulge once in a while.

Well, I'm caught up! Imagine that, I've been here 2 days in a row!

Ricci, its going to be 54 today and I'm looking forward to the 'warmth' lol Hope to take a lunchtime walk again and since it got cold and boy do we get the wind too, I'm hauling a ski band with me. Don't care what I look like, just want to be warm!

Zanne, I bet it DOES get danged cold in your area too. Are you an outside sports person? I'm not, rather work out inside. Can you say WIMP! LOL but we get those horrid -wind chill nos and no way will I try to go out much then.

Good idea on the water, ladies! I try to keep a full bottle w/me all the time. Needless to say, I'm in the bathroom a LOT!

Do something nice for yourself today ladies, whether it be extra water or a 10 minute walk. Take very good care!

I am not on here for two days, and suddnely we have all kinds of posts.
Zanne, i completely understand about the wind chills. although ours isn't quite as abad as yours. my boys are prone to ear infections and colds, so when its windy and cold, i keep them in. If we do go out, even just ot the car, they have hats on. We used to live in Kansas, and when we moved one day the wind chill was -30. Not fun.
Sounds like everyone has been doing good. I had a great OP weekend. I didn't over eat or over indulge, drank three jugs of water on saturday, and got my workouts in with no problem. Hubby has been having pain in his ankle, so he hasn't been doing cardio, just the weights. I hope you all have a good day.

Hi everybody....just a quick post. Ashamed to say that I have missed 2 or 3 days of exercising and my eating has been terrible the last 2 days.:( I dont know how I ended up in this rut all of a sudden but I am determined to get myself back on track. I may need a quick cyber kick from one of you to keep me there.:lol: Glad to hear the rest of you are doing a good job...maybe I'll join you all tomorrow...already blew today.:dizzy:

Gotta get this thread to the first page!

I started out good, by posting 2 days in a row, then this week got busy -- but here I am again.

Still not into the exercise like I want. I really pulled something while at the wedding last week:( I AM doing a little extra walking every day, so that helps I guess.

My eating is improving little by little. I did indulge in my FIL's birthday cake on Wednesday (the inlaws left yesterday to go to Florida for the winter), but overall my eating is better. I'm even drinking more water.

I just realized--I have less than 5 months till my 40th. Better get my booty moving!

MIKI--Should we toss a coin to see who kicks who first?:lol: I have confidence in you for getting back on track.

NEED2--Sounds like you're doing GREAT! Keep it up. Your poor boys. Ear infections are not fun.

MINDI--I'm not an outdoor SPORTS person, but I like being outside, even on the coldest day of winter! I'll put on snowpants and big sweaters and all the other snow gear and out I'll go. Even when I have a bad cold, I'll dress appropriately and go out--I find it clears my head.

I hope everyone is ok. I've got to go and do a real good house cleaning. That counts as exercise, doesn't it?:lol: :D

Hi Zanne....good to hear from you again. Alot can be accomplished in 5 months if you just set your mind to it. I started in Oct 2002 because my 40th was in March of this year which gave me 5 months. I knew there was no way I could meet my ultimate goal but I changed my eating and exercised everyday. By my birthday, I had lost around 35 lbs. I also drank LOTS of water during that time. I've gotten out of that habit which I think is alot of my problem now. I've only lost 15 more lbs since March which is ridiculous. I still have 30 more to lose. Maybe I should use my birthday again as my goal to have that accomplished. I'd be satisfied if I could just have it done by summer. Also back then, I ate healthy and smaller portions during the week but on the weekends I ate whatever I wanted. It worked really well. I think raising the calories on the weekend then lowering them during the week helped the metabolism thing. I'm going to TRY to get back on track by Monday. I just cant give up! Good luck staying on plan this next week. Glad to hear you're walking...that and using my XL Glider is all the exercise that I did in the beginning and it definitely helped me.

Looks like we might be moving again. Hope everyone can find us if we do! (If you haven't already, read the "sticky" at the top of this forum).

I think I've done enough "experimenting" on myself! Time to get real serious!

I had pancakes with syrup this morning. I feel terrible! I know I shouldn't have the white flour and sugar, but I just felt like pancakes today (which is rare).

MIKI--Thanks for the pep talk. :thanks: Maybe we can BOTH start fresh tomorrow? I REALLY need to get back on track with EVERYTHING. I can't say I'll do better for the rest of the day cause we're going to my folks' to celebrate my SIL birthday and we're having key lime pie for dessert--and I know I'll have some.
So how about if we try to keep each other on track ? :cheer: :coach: I think I'll have to keep in mind that I probably won't reach my ultimate goal by my birthday, but I can probably put a big dent into that number.

So, whadda ya think? Do you want to set up little challenges? Like drinking at least 64oz of water, doing some sort of exercise or something?

Of course ANYONE is welcome to join in these little challenges! The more the merrier!

Ok Zanne...I WILL be on track tomorrow! There...you have my word so I cant go back on it. Not going to make any promises past that...thinking maybe one day at a time may be easier for my brain to comprehend..:D But definitely Monday, I will stay on track. I will not overeat, and I will do some type of exercise. I'll check in tomorrow with a report. I'm not going to put emphasis on what I eat but how many calories I consume. All I did when I was losing was to keep my calories under 1500 Mon-Fri, then on the weekends they were higher. I didnt particularly ban any type of food or certain things, but given two choices, I took the healthier one. I didnt quit eating out altogether...just starting getting Jr. Burgers or Grilled chicken sandwiches rather than Quarter Pounders with Fries....or had Subway rather than Burger King, etc. At Pizza Hut, had 2 slices with salad rather than my normal 4 slices, etc. It really made a big difference quickly. Doing it that way, I could occasionally have pancakes without feeling quilty and if I did, I just would have something light that nite so still the calories didnt end up too high.;) I also faithfully used my XL GLider which has gathered dust lately.:^:

Getting more water down is going to be a priority. Tomorrow I WILL drink 64 ounces. I have just got to get back into that habit.
