Good Evening Ladies!
I am having a hard time trying to catch up on everything, so I am slowly going to get my feet wet and try to jump back in....
I took the batteries out of the scale today! I am giving myself a two week break from jumping on it every day! I know I ate and drank way too much on vacation last week, but I had a great time and don't regret anything. I have to focus on getting back on track, I don't want to be frustrated by numbers.
Mary - Good job getting motivated and getting back on track. But, like Kat said - focus on a balanced eating plan and exercise. Don't starve yourself. One day at a time! You can do it.
Kat - I always forget about the Skinny Post, but I am going to start reading it. I loved the thought you passed on to us: "Does this action or activity contribute to or hinder the realization of my vision?" Makes you go "hmmmmm".
Connie --- Congrats on the purchase of your treadmill! I love mine - I bought one last year and I used it nearly everyday for 7 months prior to joining the gym! I still use it on days I skip the gym. :) I love it.
J-ann --- Twoterville!!! YIPPEE!!!! Keep up the good work!
:cb: :strong: :cp:
2cute -- Bravo on going to the pool!!! I didn't mention any good/bad dates for the get together, but now that you bring it up, the first couple weeks of June are tough for me because it's our anniversary and my birthday.
I know I am missed some of you, but I still love you just the same!!! I'll catch up with the rest next time!
Have a great night!

I hate to just keep coming here with bad news but my life seems to be in a blah......right now.
Heres the newest thing. The kids have been exposed to Whooping couph (pertussis) which is extremely contagious. So I called the Dr. and they told me to take them to the ER so I did and they had to stick a swab thing up their noses, which the kids did so good with...and anyway they are on antibiotics for 5 days and have to stay out of school just in case. Well since it is so contagious the ER DR. put hubby and I on antibiotic too and also my mom and my step dad cause the kids are at their house a lot since they only live 2 houses from ours. So today my mom is home and watching the kids so I can work for a bit, luckily my office is just me so I won't be spreading the germs. Then hubby is gonna be home tomorrow night so I can go in at night and do payroll for the week, then we will see about the rest of the week. Sorry I only seem to have bad news lately.
Hopefully this is all a false alarm and we are doing all of this for nothing....that would be GREAT NEWS!!! Evan, who hates school anyway is having the time of his life. He was in such a great mood once the DR told him 5 days of no school.;)
Food is so/so, I need to journal!!! Just been so much going on, and I know thats an excuse, just got to get in the right frame of mind again.
I'm glad that many of us are still doing good. And seeing lots of posts is great too. I do want to go check out that other post that Kat mentioned, and hopefully I will remember to...actually I will write a reminder right now.
Thinking of you all.....

GOOD MORNING BARB AND MARY....WE WERE ALL POSTING AT THE SAME TIME
Terri in MO
10-21-2003, 07:36 AM
I'm up and about and ready to go get on the stationary bike.
I have a couple of tips for Tuesday
Make up menu cards. Jot down meals that are WW friendly and something you enjoy. Include where the recipe is located and any special ingredients you need on hand. Jot it down even if its something you make without recipes. Then in order to make a menu plan for the week, pull out 7 cards and you'll have a weeks worth of food ideas. Make your grocery list, shop and you're set for the week. I'm doing this for DH so he can either sort through the cards when we've forgotten to plan and to help him remember the types of meals we should be planning.
I know that some of you have been in funkytown of late and I've been there myself. Don't think of "starting over" because the "yet again" is in your mind. It leaves a trace of negative connotation. Instead, think of every morning as a "new start". Its a new day and new opportunity to accomplish exercise, try a new recipe, keep your points within x range, drink your water, plan. Each day should be a fresh slate for all the new opportunities. Try to get away from the feelings of failure.
J-Ann - :bravo: for twoterville. :dancer:
Mary - Great job on getting out and walking. I've been walking a mile at lunch and its wonderful. I agree about the slimfast and being hungry. Dr. Phil's step 3 challenge was about having all the right foods handy so that you can eat when hungry without indulging in impulse foods. He talked alot about not making it a restrictive, punishable diet. Take care!
2cute - :strong: Good job on going to the pool! Think of this as your winter routine and before you know it you'll be back in your own pool.
Connee - Good for you for getting the treadmill. :smoking:
Okay ladies, I need to get off here and to my exercise.
Does anyone know how to post the link to their new journal as part of the signature section? I put mine in and when you click on it, it doesn't go anywhere but if you copy it into the address line, it does take you to my journal entries. I've been doing the Dr. Phil key issues and wanted to share if anyone was interested.
Seems like there was something else but I'm out of time.
Have a great day ladies! Think positive as this is for life!

Good Morning Chicks,
Sandy, bless you my friend, I will pray that it is not Whooping cough...my sister and I had that (at the same time, fortunately), when we were teenagers!! It was terrible. That is almost the sickest I remember ever being. Just take the antibiotics whether you feel well or not! believe me you will be glad you did. Take care.
Hello Mary, here we are! Let's play! Thanks for posting. We are so glad you are here with us. I know you told me you use to post a lot..to me it has been so vital to my program. I have been silent far toooooooooo long! Stuffed it all down with food, well not any more, guess folks around me wished I would SHUT UP ALREADY!
Terri, great idea about the index cards! I will try that.;)
Hello Barb, good for you! Glad I don't have a scale here at home! That would be too tempting. I am pleased with the #'s, but I am certain I could easily become obsessed, I try to wait as close to a month as I can, sometimes I get a wee bit curious and have to wi. Next weigh in is scheduled, 10/30 when I meet with my dietician. (I AM GOING TO TRY AND HOLD ON!), BUT, I KNOW MYSELF! (just spent years denying it  ), and I may not be able to wait:D
Well girlies, gotta go exercise. No formal exercise yesterday., but I did some MAJOR CLEANING, I am sore this morning, but it feels good. I am so grateful to have the stamina now to do it. We were living in filth! and I refuse!!! to go back to overeating, and sitting there watching my life pass right before my very eyes. I intend to live in a clean environment, I deserve to live in a clean environment. I AM UNWILLING TO SETTLE ANY LONGER!! :D Whew! with that said, I am outta here:wave:
10-21-2003, 09:31 AM
MORNIN' TO YOU ALL CHICKIES!!!!
Wow everyone seems bright and sunny this AM. We had thunderstorms all night so I got to sleep with the dog, or really she got to sleep with me. :) Picture a big lady and a 50 lb. pointer both trying to sleep on the same single bed. Scarey thought huh?:dizzy:
Since Sarah Pointer is going on 11 yrs., it's time to introduce a puppy to our household so I can do the dog show thing and Sarah can retire from competition (except for tracking which we do for fun and exercise). A friend has a brand new pointer litter so I've put a deposit on a girl. It will be either liver and white or orange and white depending on which one I want. Just think I'll be house breaking a puppy in the middle of winter. Puppy will come home right before Xmas but that's ok in a house of adults. There is going to be a pointer with her nose out of joint when the little one comes home, that's for sure!!!
BTW tried the new Thomas' Multi-Grain Eng. Muffins, no trans fats, no cholesterol. They're not bad but they are 3 points rather than 2.
Gotta get back to work. I'll check in later.
10-21-2003, 10:37 AM
Just checking in before beddy bye. See you later!
10-21-2003, 10:49 AM
Hey everyone :)
We've been having a bit of computer problem here, so I wasn't able to get on since Sunday. There was lots to catch up on! I only have time for a couple of replies right now, then it is time to get ready for work.
Terri, thanks for the menu card suggestion. I used to do something similar because without, I'd end up cooking almost the same thing every night. It also made shopping much easier and less expensive. We always set up for 8 meals, because that way we didn't feel so locked in if we decided we weren't in the mood for one of the menus.
J-ann, grats on the terrific twos! And you are probably right about the pointer who will have her nose out of joint. She might surprise you, though!
Pam, I know what you are talking about with the cleaning. Grats to you for digging into yours! You are right, you do deserve to live in a beautiful and clean environment and to not be a spectator in your own life. We all do. *HUGS*
Sandy, sounds like you are on top of things. The antibiotic should keep the kids and everyone fine, yeah? I'll just send out good vibes for your health. :)
Mary, good for you with the SlimFast, but don't forget your snacks. They allow for two a day and a healthy dinner, don't they?
Barb, cute pics! And I love that you are giving yourself two weeks to work off cruise weight before stressing yourself out on the scale. Good idea!
I know there is more on the last thread that I haven't touched, but I've got to hit the shower now so I'm on time to work. Amazing how hard that is when it is about a two minute walk from my house.
10-21-2003, 12:47 PM
Sandy...kids huh? I just had to leave work today because my daycare mom called at 11:30 and said Andrew has a 104 temp and broke out in a rash on his face and belly. I have to take him to the dr. at 2:30 this afternoon. Poor little guy...he is sweating up a storm but he is eating Wendy's chicken nuggets and fries and drinking ok. He is watching a spongebob video and repeating things they are saying! We'll see what happens!!
I gotta run and get a few things done here. I'll try and catch you all later!!'
10-21-2003, 03:48 PM
I have a sick kid too, but she's away at school. I just called to say "hi" and she was in bed, sounding all droopy. Said she thinks she ate something bad, because she's been vomiting on and off since lunch yesterday. I wish i could be there to make her a cup of tea and rub her back as she goes back to sleep. My kids will always be my babies! :bb:
I'm dusting off the old membership card, once again, and going to the gym today. Woo hoo! I'm going to try a new class called "Body Pump." It's supposed to give "real results, real fast!" Okay, I'm game! I have got to work on making exercise a DAILY priority. Not only does it make me feel better, but it helps to balance out those days when I'm not 100% on the eating part. So that's my new goal...to exercise, one way or another every day. Think I can do it???   Of course I can! The power of positive thinking...
I have to make dinner now...chicken with lemon and garlic, brown rice, broccoli. :T What's everyone else having??
Terri, I love the menu idea...I've been toying with doing something like that for a while now...you just reminded me...I will work on that tonight.
Have a good night girls...
10-21-2003, 04:29 PM
Hi guys !!!
I just got home from swimming again. :D One full hour... nonstop !! It feels so good.
Again there were not many swimmers ... but I have to walk in front of the ENTIRE weight room/exercise room. All of the treadmills and bikes and everything faces the hall I walk down. I HATE that part !!!
I know... I know .. I should stand PROUD. I am out there trying to improve myself.
I don't hang my head in shame... but it is hard to stand proud when you weight 300+.
I am not letting it stop me .. but I sure hate it.
I still have not read the old threads. But I do remember that J-ann reached Twoterville !!!
CONGRATULATIONS !!!!! :cp:  :dancer: :jig:
Connie... congrats on your purchase of a treadmill. WAY TO GO GIRL !!!
Kat... You said... "No one can see you in the water" WRONG !!!
That water is crystal clear. The walking track is upstairs and you look right down into the pool. My big ole white legs GLOW for all to see. :o
Plus.. I swim in the lap lanes and all the real swimmers wear goggles as they swim and trust me... THEY SEE THESE LEGS.
BUT ... I am not going to let that stop me either.
I AM GOING TO DO WHATEVER IT TAKES !!! Whether they can see me or not.
Sandy and Michelle.... hope you and your families all recuperate quickly.
Mary... Keep hanging in there !!!
Okay.. I am writing off line and can't remember anything else. I have got to get back to housework. Hubby and I are going out for a nice steak dinner tonight. I have a lot to do before then.
10-21-2003, 04:40 PM
2cute...of course they could see, if they wanted to! Do you honestly see anyone gawking at you or at anyone else??? Do YOU stare at anyone else? I think that most people respect the fact that you are all in that place for the same reason...to get fit and healthy.
10-21-2003, 05:19 PM
Michelle: I hope Andrew is okay and has nothing to serious. I hate when our little ones are sick. You just wish you could take it away.
Yesterday when the Dr. told me to take the kids to the ER and not to the office I was in tears, thinking "how could I let my babies get sick like this?" I know I did not do it, but you just want to protect them so much. I was glad when my mom offered to meet me at the ER and sit with me, I was very nervous about the tests.
Kat: I hope your daughter feels better too. I hope she did not eat anything to bad. I know you must really want to be with her and she probably wishes you were there with her too. I'm 33 and when I get sick I wish my mommy would come over and take care of me. Usually my hubby will somewhat, but never like a mommy would :) .
2Cute: Congrats on the swimming. You are doing great. And even if people are looking~~~just think~~~how they will be talking about you in the future and they say "wow, look at the progress she has made" "she is doing great!!" You keep your chin up high and keep going!!!
J-Ann: The new puppy sounds like she will be so cute. God, how I love puppies and kittens. Actually I am just an animal lover. Although I have drawn the line at my son getting a RAT. We already have the 2 dwarf hamsters and they are close enough. But I do not want RATS!!! I'm sure your Sarah will adjust and take the new one under her paw.:)
Pam: Thanks for your well wishes!!! Also, please please never shut up!!! I love reading your posts and everyone heres post. Keeps me going and encouraged. Keep up all your good work.
Terri: The recipe card thing sounds like a great idea. And if I did a ton of them and shuffled and pulled 7, then there ya go, thats the menu for the week. I love your idea....thanks.
Barb: Glad to have you back. I wish I had enough control to take the batteries out of the scale. I'm such a scale person. I have two scales (one regular one and one digital one) I'm always comparing the two. God bless you.....you will get right back on track.
Mary: Hope all is going good. Don't forget if you are hungry you should be eatting....if you don't that leads to the over indulging. Good luck hun, and remember to bring your little fingers here to keep them occupied.
Andria: Thanks for the well wishes. I am praying we are all clear.
Hope your computer issues are all cleared up.
Okay girls, I've gotten everyone that has posted on this thread. Will check back later.

Bringing us to the top
10-21-2003, 08:28 PM
Just back from the gym...and I had to share this story!
I had no idea what to expect, but it sounded a little intimidating, "Body Pump..." geez, what would I find there? A room full of body builder chicks with their weight lifting gloves, clad only in slinky weight lifting pants and sports bras. I was intriqued however, by the promise of fast results and I've been wanting to find a good weight lifting class, so I mustered up some bravery and went.
The instructor greeted me warmly as I walked in the studio. She explained what equipment I would need and offered to get it for me herself. Relaxing a bit then, I looked around. I was happy to see all different shapes, but mostly average sized women. I was putting my weights on the barbell, when a heavy set, older (than me, so maybe in her 50s) woman came over to me to give me some advice on what size weights to use for the first class. She said, "I like to help the new gals out, I know how it feels to be scared of this stuff." I was very touched and very appreciative!! She obviously knew exactly how I was feeling...like I was too fat to be there. So I chilled out and concentrated first, on trying to avoid seeing my reflection in the mirrors...but then realizing that, "Yes, I AM fat...take a good long look at that reflection...and watch every week as it changes." So THAT was hard, but I did it. And I loved the class! You can go as light as you need to, on the weights, and work your way up. I was surprised that some of the weights seemed too light for me. So, twice a week I plan on taking this class, doing some sort of aerobic exercise the other days, whether it's a class, or walking the dog, or riding my bike...even raking the leaves, right Lucky?
So that's my story. I feel back in control...must stay focused.
And I must get to bed! Two more nights of work and then I'm off for four days! Ahhhhhhhhhhh...
Good night, chickies...love ya!

Good evening ladies!
DH is upstairs feeling puny (again), I've already walked the dog so he's on the deck recovering and its not even 8 pm!
Its so good to see everyone getting in the exercise groove. What's good is that as I read your posts about what you're accomplishing, I can feel how good YOU feel.
I have a weird challenge going on with two of my peers at work. I want to do the MS 150 bike ride next year and I've talked them into doing it too. What's weird is that they are guys and neither one overweight. We have this honor challenge going about who's working out the most. I, in no way, could keep up with them because they are starting to run and can do so much more by not carrying an extra 80 pounds like me. But, it keeps me motivated and keeps me working harder. DH doesn't care that they are guys and knows that women that I know just aren't as competitive.
2Cute - You rock! It takes a lot of courage to hit the gym pools but you've got the right spirit and the heck if anyone is looking. As far as the Spring gathering, I think it was me that had a commitment already for next 5/14 & 5/14. Other than that, I'm game for any other time. DH and I do want to take a trip to San Fran so we'll be planning it when school is out. I am looking forward to bringing my bike and riding on your trails. And having all kinds of fun with ya'all!
Kat - :strong: Your class sounds awesome. Its so good to have you back posting again. How far away is your daughter? Too far for you to take her some soup? Or maybe a home delivery from a deli?
Sandy - Hope you and your kids don't get sick and all is well soon! Be sure to take care of you too!
Pam - Hmm, how about coming up and whoopin' up on my house? I'm thrilled to read how your life is changing for the good. Sometimes it just takes small, consistent action and then things starting changing. Go girl!
J-Ann - A new puppy!! How fun and wonderful. I remember when Bear was just a mere 5 pound puppy! What a hoot about sleeping with the dog!
Michelle - Hope Andrew is feeling better soon too!
Mary - Hi! Did you get out and walk today?
I hope I didn't miss anyone. I better get this posted before I lose it. to everyone!
P.S. Kat - you asked what everyone was eating for dinner. Here's our menu plan for the week:
Last night - pork loin chops and south beach oriental coleslaw
tonight - Subway sandwichs and leftover coleslaw
tomorrow - chicken and peppers, broccoli
Thursday - BBQ chicken and south beach "surprise mashed potatoes" (cauliflower)
Friday - Hamburger patty and salad
10-22-2003, 04:59 AM
Thanks everyone...Andrew just had a viral infection....no ear infection or anything serious. Just had to give him motrin to make him comfortable. He fell asleep on the couch last night at 6 pm and he woke up roaring to go at 4:30 am...see how early I am posting?
I don't feel so hot myself right now so I am going to take a nice long hot shower and some motrin for myself...I have been having back problems this past week. The motrin I get from the dr. works wonders. Too bad it has to wear off!
OK have a great day! Michelle

Good Morning Chicklets:dance:
2 cute: I have no plans for next spring/early summer yet! waiting to hear from you, then will plan around that. So just whenever you can plan it--okay by me. Would like 3-4 mos advance notice if possible though, my coworkers start putting in for vacations early, and it is first come first serve. Can't wait too see you gals!!:cb: :dancer:
I will :write: more later, want to exercise while I have this momentum going, if I sit too long its all over! I start thinking of all kinds of other things to do instead!
bye for now:wave:
10-22-2003, 09:10 AM
Been busy the past couple of days-doctor's appts, shopping, acting as a taxi service for DH & DS. I FINALLY have a "day off"! I made it to my TOPS meeting last night after not being there 2 weeks in a row. I GAINED 1.75 :( I wasn't surprised. My eating last week was not good, but this week will be better :)
Kat: Good for you going to the exercise class-and how nice of that lady to make you feel at home. Hope you enjoy it!
2 Cute: I'm glad you're enjoying the water exercise. Don't worry about other people-JUST DO IT :cp:
Pam: Good job staying OP at the wedding :cb: I'd have trouble saying no to cake w/buttercream icing!
Terri: I hope you're able to do the MS 150 next year. That's an excellent goal-and a very worthy cause!
Sandy: I hope your little ones are doing better. :goodvibes :
Michelle: Hope Andrew gets well soon :D
J-ann: Congrats on moving to TWOterville! :cp: :bravo:
And congrats on your new "baby"!
Mary: Sounds like you're getting back on track. Keep up the good work :D
Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

good morning . No I didn't walk yesterday. Food was bad too
10-22-2003, 09:42 AM
Good Morning to all my Beautiful Friends!
It's a cloudy, rainy day here - one of those days where you just want to crawl back into bed under a cozy quilt. :^: That's not an option - I forced myself to get back to the gym this morning! It did feel good to get back there! Then I stopped and bought some fresh fruit - I haven't been grocery shopping yet, so the cupboard is bare! Now I am attempting to get to work, but had to stop in here first! :)
Sandy --- Hope that you are all doing well today and that no one is getting sick.
Terri --- I am always motivated when I read you posts. Thanks for being so encouraging! I think it's great that you have a challenge with your work buddies! It's always great to have other to work with and talk to! Keep it up!
Pam --- You too! What a great attitude! Thanks for being you!!! :D
J-ann --- A new puppy, what fun! My little Chihuahua, Charlee is about 10 months now! She is so much fun! It sounds like you will raise the new pup as a show dog? I know what you mean about the middle of winter - last year when we brought Charlee home she weighed 2 pounds and there were 2 feet of snow on the ground! That was interesting - We decided just to indoor train her.
Kat --- Great job getting back to the gym last night! The class sounds great. I haven't been to any classes at my gym yet - but will try one of these days. They don't have a big selection, but they have a few aerobics classes, one pilates and they just started a new ab class.
Andria --- Hope you get your computer probs fixed. I always feel lost when I am without my computer. I rely on it for everything!
Michelle --- I sure hope you and Andrew get to feeling better! He had you up with the birds this morning. Take care of both of you! :df:
2cute --- I am so proud of you for your swimming! Way to go!!! Just forget about the others there. I know it's difficult, but you have to try. You are taking care of yourself and that's the important thing!!! :) :) :)
Mary --- I hope your day is off to a good start!!
Joanne/Homebound --- A day "off"? Good for you! I hope you are going to do something special for yourself!
 A big hello to anyone I missed or is lurking around!
Thin, Tina, Jen, Lucky, Natalie, Steph, Tracy, Lynne, Sara, Melissa......Hope you are all well!!!! (Haven't seen a few of you in quite some time...hint, hint)
Time to get some work done! Gotta earn some $ for the next cruise! Yes, we are already thinking about the next one! :D
10-22-2003, 09:45 AM
Hi Mary - We were posting at the same time! :) Yesterday is over! It's a new day! What are you plans for today?
We are all here for you!
10-22-2003, 09:46 AM
Terri! Wow! How motivating...training for a bike marathon! I am so impressed! 150 what? km? miles? puff puff! You go girl! BTW, I looked up the recipe for oriental coleslaw on the SB website, but couldn't find it...care to share??? I think I made it once and it was :T !
Joanne, good girl, getting back to TOPS! Less than two lbs, when you know you were naughty, isn't too bad!
Michelle...you'd better be resting up there, young lady! You have an important mission coming up!
Pam... if I sit too long its all over! Oh, how I hear that! Good for you, seizing that momentum!
Sandy, give those kiddies lots of love and cuddling...they'll be fine before you know it.
Mary, You're very quiet, what's new?
J-ann...Your new puppy's birthday must be right around my dog's...We brought her home Christmas Eve six years ago. oooh, housebreaking in the winter...you get some wicked winter weather too, don't you? Bless you my child.
Barb...Now that vacation is over, I know you will be right back to your losing ways! Great idea, disabling the scale! Why discourage yourself? :cp:
2cute must be splashing around, as we speak...that's why she's not here. I have no idea what dates are good for me right now, so I'll just play it around what the majority rules at this point.
I've got to get a nap in this morning, so I'll say Hi to everyone else for now...come on out and post!
