Fat/Muscle replica
Recently in a thread, someone had posted a pic of an exact replica of 5 lbs of fat and 5 lbs of muscle. It made a huge impression on me to see the difference in the two. I wanted to print it off so I can have it handy, but I cant remember which thread it was in or who posted it. Anyone else know??

Hey MikiG...It was in the EXERCISE thread I believe. I had ask Why do some people just look like they shrink when they lose weight. And I received this awesome answer complete with this mind blowing picture!

That was a great thread!
http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/show...threadid=31893 includes the picture Meg posted. It's quite an eye opener. Thanks, Skinny4baby, for letting us know where it was. I remembered seeing it too, but couldn't find it.

Yes, that's it!! Thanks so much Skinny....I knew it was in that "shrinking" post, but couldnt remember under which thread. That pic really put things into perspective for me. Ever since I saw it, I constantly have that picture in my mind when I dont want to exercise or I eat too much. I wanted to share it with some ladies at work who are trying to do this with me also. I just know it'll impact them also.
Thanks Suzanne for the link.

That pic sure was an eyeopener. Thanks, I'm going to post it in a strategic place for when I just don't feel like exercising and need a kickstart!

Interesting picture!
So is the fact that I'm lifting weights the reason I can wear a smaller size, but weigh more than when I last wore this size? Or have sizes just gotten bigger since the 1990s? I.e., is a size 16 now what a size 18 was in the early 1990s?

Sizes are so bizarre these days Sheila, it's hard to tell. I can go into one store and have to literally squeeze into a size 16, yet in a different store I fit comfortably into a 12. I think it depends a lot on where the garment is made. I just wish they could get together and make uniform sizes so you don't have to take several sizes of the same item into the dressing room to get a proper fit. It's hard enough finding something you like to begin with.
From my cross-border shopping I know American sizing differs from Canadian (I think Canadian is based more on the British model) and I get totally lost when it comes to clothes made in the far east. I tried on a silk blouse in an extra-large that was made in Japan and couldn't even button across the chest, meanwhile I can wear a medium in a domestic made blouse.
What's even more confusing is the sizing of the plus sizes! I DID keep the very largest of my old clothes, which I'll donate to Goodwill once I reach goal unless I feel the need to keep them as motivation to maintain. Looking in my closet I see I have a size 28 dress, size 46 pants, size 2XX sweater and another pair of pants size 22W, yet they're all the same size! Go figure.
