I am gearing up for the 5k walk the 25th. I went walking this AM and got lost in the maze of streets around my house. They don't run into each other and a lot of cu-de-sacs and I don't know the neighborhood well so I felt like one of my Psychology experiments in college! I have probably walked about 12 miles so far this month.

Hi! 27 miles so far here!

10-07-2003, 04:31 PM
Hi all. I'm new today and this forum is just what I need to get me going again. I didn't walk today because it's "clean the garden up for the fall" day and that has meant lifting and moving sedum, peonies, daylilies and lilies so I'm getting a good workout.

Tomorrow I start back at my daily walks. I walk in the forest on very well kept trails that are for me only.......... we keep them up by dragging heavy chains behind the tractor and it works perfectly.

I have 12 hills on my 1 hour route so the work out is a good one.

So far in October I've only walked 42 km and I really need to get the lead out. I'm glad I found this spot..........

59 years, children all grown
5'6" (or I was)

gw 145

 Hey all! Faye :high: A new walking thread, right on.
I know what you mean about getting lost in culdesacs. Especially when a lot of the modern houses look alike :dizzy:, it can make one a bit crazy. Good luck training for the 5K :dancer:

Well, I've got 11 miles under my belt so far but I'll be burning up the pavement this month since I've got some new motivation going on. I just signed up for WW this past Saturday so I've got the threat of a weekly weigh-in, live and in person to keep me on track. (I've heard a lot of good things about WW and in fact, Kristen who occasionally pops in here was the one who inspired me to join), thanks Kristen :) .

Timlin, your area to walk sounds great! I average an hour and 5 or an hour and 15 minutes daily, depending on my detours. My route is mostly paved residential but over half of it's uphill. I like that I can climb those hills without huffing and puffing like before.

Hi Holly. You're blazing :flame: . Hope to see you around here often.

Well, it's back to work for me. Have a great day.

Edit: 8:12 pm
Got in 3.25 miles this evening :dancer:
for a total of 14.25 this month.
Let's go!

10-08-2003, 04:03 PM
Got in 60 minutes on the glider today. My dd bought me a Sony walkman CD player for my birthday so I can now play all my oldies CD's and bebop while I am either walking or on the glider. It has a great anti-skip feature so shaking it around while I am move hasn't been a problem.

Hope everyone is doing well with their walking. I know a lot of you will soon have difficulty because of weather. I hope you have prepared an alternate method to get in your exercise.

Have a great day ladies!

Good evening ladies. I'm winding down my day with a quick post here. I got in my regular 3.5 mile walk. It's day 5 on WW and I think it's working! :) I've been making myself drink at least 114 oz of water a day (my two water bottles at work) and I finally saw some downward movement on the scale  I'm not gonna celebrate yet, but I'm hoping to see at least a little loss at weigh-in on Friday.

Faye I like listening to music while I exercise at home as well. It makes you think of other things rather than the exercise at hand...and if you get tired, you can always tell yourself, I'll quit after the end of this song...sometimes i'd forget the song ended and by the time I realized it, the next song had begun and I was still exercising. So it's a great motivator and distractor. I'm lucky living here in Hawaii because the only type of inclement weather we have is rain--and when I'm motivated I just take an umbrella along, even in a downpour. I feel for you ladies who are experiencing 30 degrees in October! Brrrrrrrr!!!!

 Hi to Holly, Timlin, Janine, Kristen...everyone. Have a great rest of the week. Let's get out and walk!

Good morning! It is almost my TOM so I am feeling really bloated and icky, also more tired. Do any of you have a difficult time exercising as much during and/or before your TOM because of fatigue? I am at 39 miles walked for the month so far. I seem to have such a difficult time losing this weight. I am 145 this morning, but feel swollen, so maybe it's the TOM lurking. I would like to get down to 130, but, sometimes that seems so impossible.

Hey! That is great that you are seeing the scale go down! Encouragement to keep on moving!

Hi! I have a hard time with hills, my knees can't take the impact.

Hi! I use the WATP tapes by Leslie Sansone, so, I should be ok during the winter. I am hoping that our finances improve enough so I can get back to the gym.

Hello to everyone else!

10-11-2003, 11:55 PM
Hey all, just logging in my 3.5 miles for this morning. I had my first weigh-in @ WW yesterday and was down 1.8 lbs. Downward is good! Last night we even ordered a Pizza Hut pizza and I stopped at 2 slices. I ate a big green salad before touching the pizza so that seemed to help. We had a large, pan 1/2 pepperoni (for my son who won't eat any other kind) and 1/2 garden chicken, which is the one with loads of garlic, tomato slices and fresh spinach leaves :T . I am pleased with myself since I stopped at two. The "before" me would've kept on plowing through the pizza box until there was no more--stuffing myself to the gills. I was plenty satisfied with just 2 pieces. I've been drinking lots of water today too. And yet another test for me tonight: a baby's first birthday luau. I already know I'll have green salad first then maybe a serving of chicken or other offering. Say no to cake and be happy. That's the plan anyway.

Holly, hope you're feeling better today, TOM should be on it's way soon. My experience w/TOM has been that with my daily exercise and more balanced eating, my physical discomforts have pretty much disappeared. Could be that youre feeling fatigued because you're not getting enough shut-eye? Take care of yourself girlie. :)

Hello to all the other ladies out there.

Good morning ladies. No walking for me today as it is thunder storming here. Guess the glider has to be it!

Noelle: I have one lady friend that listens to books on tape and only "reads" them when exercising so she gets the "can't put them down" books so she really gets in her exercising. I think that is a great idea, but our stupid library charges 50 cents per tape and that can get expensive if there are a lot of tapes. They also only let you keep them for a week. My friend says she "retapes" them and then takes them back to the library so she has enough time to listen to them. I just can't see paying to read books from the library so I stubbornly refuse to take them out.

Holly: I have heard nothing but good stuff about WATP tapes. Keep up the good work.

I better kick butt this am. I need to start on the upstairs today. I can't believe cleaning the house seems to come around so soon!

Good morning everyone!

I have a request. It came about when a lady that posts on my thread ask for prayers for family that have cancer. I am compiling a list of women who have/had/or died from breast cancer from the women here on the threads I post at. If you have a contribution, please send me her name. I am going to carry the list in my pocket the day of the race, which is a week from Saturday. In this way, I am walking for THEM!

10-16-2003, 12:19 AM
I didn't realize anyone had started a new walking thread. Thanks Faye. :) Good luck with the walk Saturday, I will keep you in my thoughts.

I haven't been doing much walking lately, not much of anything period. Just been feeling a bit under the weather so to speak. I am getting back on track this week though and am hoping to see a loss come Friday.

WTG Noelle on joining WW and your loss! :bravo: How are you liking it so far? It is actaully not so bad once you get the hang of everything. I really enjoyed going to the meetings and do miss that.

Holly, I have the 2 mile WATP video and I love it, that is when I do it. I have been out of the loop for about three weeks now but once I get back to my schedule I do it three days a week and then walk three days. I have been planning on getting the 3 mile and I thought someone mentioned a 4 mile one, not sure but would definitely like to get it also.

Hi to everyone else. Hope everyone had a great day today. TTFN :flow1:

10-18-2003, 04:11 AM
Hi ladies  !!! Cristi glad you found us. Sorry to hear you've been feeling down. Hope things are looking up for you now. This thread waxes and wanes but luckily Faye has been giving us some CPR ;) . This is my second full week on WW and I think it gives me the structure I need. Well, that and the knowing that I'll be facing someone in person to weigh in has been keeping me on track  . I go to my 3rd weigh-in tomorrow morning and I'm keeping my fingers crossed :crossed: . I'll let you gals know if I have good news or not.

Faye, that is a great idea about carrying the list on your walk next week. I am lucky in that I don't know anyone personally who has been afflicted with breast cancer. The best thing we can do is to be aware of our own bodies--do that BSE each month, make healthy food choices and always keep up with your physical exams with your docs! :soap: Oooh, sorry to hear about your Cubbies :( . I'm sure that so-called "fan" would be torn limb from limb if he wasn't escorted out of that game.

I have good news after all. Remember I told you gals about our dog getting attacked by a loose pitbull? Well, it seemed unlikely that the dog owner would be able to pay the vet bills since he was/is unemployed. But when I sent the certified letter to him demanding payment, I also addressed it to the owner of the house (who is related to him). The homeowner's insurance policy will reimburse us 100% for the vet bills within the next 2 weeks--just in time for our trip to Bangkok. I'm glad this is almost over and done with.

Well, it's a Friday night and my DH has had to work for a few extra hours. I think I'll put my son to bed then curl up with a good book...it's been ages since I've been able to read something without interruption. Have a great weekend ladies!

Noelle: There is ALWAYS next year for the CUBS.

Saturday is my walk and I am a little nervous. I have never participated in any kind of walk or race and don't know what to expect exactly. My dd and I are going Friday and picking up our numbers and our t-shirts. I know I can push myself this far, that is not the problem, I just want this to be a "star" on my accomplishment chart!

I walked 3 miles on Friday and 2.1 on Saturday I think is what it was. Sometimes, I think about how little that is compared to what others here and on other threads walk etc, but for a person that is still over 300 lbs, I have to remind myself that a block was too much just several months ago so I have made terrific strides.

Well I need to look on the race info and find out where the end of the race is. I want my dh to be there.

10-20-2003, 05:06 PM
Hi Ladies,

Well, I got in a walk this morning at the park, and then did some on the treadmill when I got home. It is such a beautiful day, supposed to be in the 80's all week.

Noelle, I am lots better. Those stinking allergies got me down for three weeks. I honestly didn't think it would ever stop. I was taking medication but that stuff made me tired and didn't feel like doing much at all. Went to the dr and got a cortisone shot for my shoulder and arm, seems to be working now. So I am all better and ready to get back in the game. WTG on getting the vet bills paid. When do you guys go to Bangkok? Hope you have a great time, which I know you will! How did your WI go?

Faye, you will do fine with your walk Saturday. We will be thinking of you. I think that is great you are doing this for others. My Great-Aunt Molly was a survivor of breast cancer, and she was very proud of her scar, bless her heart. She passed away but from old age. Also, we lost my moms cousin Margaret to breast cancer a few years ago. Anyway, you go!

Hope you ladies are having a great day! Take care. :)

10-20-2003, 06:16 PM
Hey ladies. I did great at my WI on Saturday, down by 3.4 lbs and got my first cheesy "I lost 5 lbs" bookmark! :dancer: Hehe, those little tokens for losing weight ARE cheesy but I love 'em anyway . I suprised myself really, because my home scale (that evil thang) was fluctuating up and down I didn't know what to expect. I'm glad though. I spent yesterday afternoon at my sister's house. We had a party celebrating 3 October b-days in our family. I ate a little too much but I did get a looong morning walk in before (5.2 miles) then a guilt-induced walk of 2 miles after the party. Trust me, that's not my usual mileage, that was an exception to the norm. My legs are talking to me now :tired: .

Faye, yes there is always next year and DH and I will be rootin' for them for sure. I'm sure you'll do well on your walk on Saturday. You can spend some more quality time w/your DD during the walk and your DH and little Thomas(?) can be waiting at the end to cheer for you both. If you can already walk 3 miles at a stretch this'll be a piece of cake (for lack of a better term) :hun: . You've come so far and I'm proud of you :grouphug:. One thing I've found during this weight loss journey is that you should never compare yourself to anyone else--either about exercise or about lbs lost. We come in all shapes and sizes and our progress will vary. The main thing is that we are all making progress!

Hi Cristi. Allergies are a pain, sorry you had to suffer through it.
Just ease back into the exercise and you'll be back in top form before you know it. My Bangkok trip is coming up fast. We'll be leaving on Nov. 8 and returning on the 18th. I can't wait :goodvibes: ! It's been 3 years since I've been there and I want to go shopping! We're also flying up further north to Chiang Mai where we can do more touring, like ride the elephant through a tribal village and visit all those gorgeous golden temples with the jade buddhas. It's such a beautiful place. I'm taking the digital camera so I should be able to get some pics posted when I get back.

Well, I hope we see more action on this thread...Janine, Jenifer, Kristen...where are you gals? Come out, come out wherever you are :) Gotta run for now. Take care ladies!

Hi ladies! I'm back for now! Wow I have missed all of you! I got my cyst on my jaw removed 2 weeks ago. So for two weeks I didn't go to weigh in. I gained 4.4.........Ughh! I'm a stress eater what can I say. As of last Tuesday I join the gym for a free 30 day trial. It has been a lot of fun b/c I go with three coworkers. Well I'm glad to be able to start posting here again. Not walking but at least going to the gym Monday thru Friday. I go walk my pup some nights. Take care!

Noelle what days do you weigh in???
This was me 1 year ago at 220 I think!

10-20-2003, 10:45 PM
Hi Jenifer! That's a great picture. You are very pretty! I still love your signature line quote, it's so true. I'm so happy you decided to return to us (geez do I sound desperate? :^: ) A 30 day free gym membership? Awesome! And you have others to work-out with. You're doing something great for yourself, keep it up. :)

I try to weigh-in on either Friday or Saturday mornings. I joined on a Saturday, and I set my week starting on Saturdays so I can use my flexpoints on the weekends, which is the hardest time for me. That way I have most of the weekday being an  to make up for the weekend splurges. Anyway, good job on getting back on track. Hope to see more of you here. Take care!

10-20-2003, 10:48 PM
Hey Noelle! Thanks! Here I am now (well two weeks prior to my gain this past weekend)! 192.6!!! Remember my hair cut? Well I love it and I will be keeping it short for a while. It's fun! I didn't start trying to lose till April and then in July my aunt passed away so the whole month of July I didn't focus. These pics really help me try and focus!

10-21-2003, 04:21 PM
Wow Jenifer, that's great progress. You can really see the difference in your face, and what better way to show it off than with a new haircut! Woo-Hoo! So sassy looking (and I mean that in a good way :) )

10-21-2003, 05:07 PM
Hi Ladies, Noelle, Faye, Jenifer, Holly, Janine and anyone I missed. :)

WELCOME BACK Jenifer! :balloons: So glad to see you found us! Hey, those are GREAT pictures, and WOW what a difference! I love the new do, you look beautiful! How is your puppy dog?

I am getting ready to put up some photos, probably in a few weeks. We are having our annual Christmas picture taken next week and it takes about 3 weeks to get them back so I will have a decent recent photo. Haven't made much progress in my loss but I am getting back on track and by January first I will have a "during" picture, you know "before, during and after" I am hoping for a new do too. Still growing my hair out for Locks of Love. And today I mentioned I need and want a haircut bad and my DD said "No, mommy, your hair is so pretty you have to keep it long" how sweet.

Well, I haven't gotten my walk in as of yet. But I do plan on doing the WATP video, a 1 mile walk on the treadmill and a bike ride. I have made a goal for the week to do a hour of exercise 5-6 days a week. So I am definitely getting back on track.

Anyway, hope you all are having a wonderful day. Talk to you later. :flow2:

10-21-2003, 06:27 PM
Hi! Hi! Hi! I'm just getting back on the fitness track (actually ALL the tracks) after being sick for a little while. I want to start walking now so I can get as much in as possible before winter gets here. Then I will hit the walking videos.....love them.

I didnt walk today.....LOL.....great start huh. But my actual start date is tomorrow so Im good.....today is motivation day.

10-21-2003, 11:12 PM
Hello Jaime, welcome aboard our little walking thread. I love to feel your motivational "spark". Congratulations on your weight loss progress to date, that's great! It's good you also have an alternative plan to walking outdoors during the winter. I think a few others here do the WATP tapes too. I'm an outdoorsy type walker as I've got great weather practially year round :flow2:. I see you have 2 little ones. I have a 4 year old as well, a boy. He'll be 5 in January  , where does the time go??? Anyway, glad to have you with us, hope to see more of you here. Let's get walking!

I need to close up shop soon and get my evening walk in. I'm shooting for my regular 3.5 miles :dancer:. Talk with you later ladies, take care.

Thanks for the welcome Noelle!!! Wow I have a lot of walking to do to catch up to you.....impressive.

Yes I have two bundles of energy. Today is my son's seventh birthday and I was looking at his pictures from when he was a baby.....I can't believe its been 7 years since he came into my life.

My birthday present to him (well to me actually) is to be more healthy and energized by his next birthday. To give him a mommy who isnt always to tired to walk to the park or play outside with him. He's getting older now and I really need to get my butt going so he doesnt think being a couch potato is what your supposed to do when you grow up.

Ok well, I need to get him on the bus and get my butt exercising. I'm looking forward to it:)

Take care!!!! :balloons:

Good Morning Ladies!

A BIG WELCOME to you Jaime! :balloons: It's always nice to see new faces, glad to have ya. We have been having such nice weather the last few days and I have definitely been enjoying it while I can. I have a treadmill for when the bad weather hits and I too hit the videos. I love the WATP videos, got my first one, the 2 mile from Noelle (THANKS Noelle!) Also, have the 3-mile, working my way up to the rest. Once again WELCOME!

I am off to an early start this morning with tons to do today! I thought I would check in early. I am going to the park later this morning to get in a walk. It has been in the 80's this week but going to end come Friday when the rain is supposed to move in, so back to the treadmill and videos, which is fine really.

Hi Noelle, Jenifer, Janine and Faye. :) Hope everyone has a GREAT hump day. :sunny: Take care ladies.

10-22-2003, 09:55 AM
Thanks for the welcome Cristi!!!

Your lucky its so nice!!! Its always cold now and it kind of depresses me because I wasted the whole summer just about. I could have been walking out in that nice weather:( Oh well, Move on time I guess. I wasted this summer sitting on my butt feeling horrible about myself and I DO NOT plan to go back there:)

Im going to do my walk video and then take my daughter to the park and walk around the lake. Shes four so its more of a light slow stop and start walk......lol......but its exercise all together....more then I get sitting my BEHIND on the couch.

have a great day everyone!!!!!

10-22-2003, 07:35 PM
Hi Jaime! Welcome to you and hello to Jenifer whom I have never met before. I am the old codger in the group, 50 years young!

I walked 3.2 today so I know I am ready for Saturday. Noelle, I think Thomas is going to be "riding" with us during the race. If I get pooped maybe Thomas will share his stroller, she has one of those race kind. He is pretty independent though so he may be walking with us. This is the kid whose mom bought him an adorable Kermit the Frog Halloween costume last year after season to wear this year and HE decides he wants to be a skeleton. Now the thing is, he demanded that the costume has to be 2 pieces not one and he doesn't want his face painted he wants a mask. We have looked for him a costume for weeks and weeks and finally dd had enough and told him it was either a one piece costume and makeup on his face or he would have to be something else, period! He also refuses to let anyone pick out his clothes for him so we have to buy him rather mundane stuff so everything will coordinate with everything else. Is this kid, 12, 10 8, no he is 3 for heaven's sake!

We are picking up our race stuff on Friday and having lunch together and I can't wait for T's reaction to me. I dyed my hair a reddish maroon. He is a beautiful redhead and so is his mom so we will see what he thinks! Should be a fun reaction!

I am down another 3 lbs. I am losing about 5-7 a week again. I know it will slow down eventually, but I am going to take it while it comes!!! I am eating an 1800/410 cal and fat program and exercising and getting in proper water so I know that I am not doing anything but good to my body so I don't worry about the large weight loss every week.

Cristi: I put Aunt Molly and Margaret on my list so they will be walking right along with me in spirit! I have 35 on my list and 11 who did not survive. That is a pretty hefty amount, but some of those may be those who passed years before we had such agressive ways to treat women.

Well, I better go. I just came up to check on Friday movie times as we are going on a "date" night on Friday to see Runaway Jury. We may be married a long time (31 years next month), but we still do date nights at least twice a month. We even cuddle like teens in the movies though I refuse to sit in the nosebleed section of the theater like we used to (I grew up in the OLD style theaters where you could sit in the balcony!!!) The very first movie Jack and I went to as a couple was The Godfather and I was so naive, I didn't know what Sonny was doing to the bridesmaid against that bedroom door, Jack however said he was embarrassed (of course he didn't know I was clueless!)

Have a great night girls!

10-23-2003, 08:59 AM
Thanks for the welcome Faye. Your grandson sounds like a hoot...my daughters sorta the same way about her clothing she only wants to wear skirts and dresses but I usually win out in the end.....lol.

I did OK yesterday for my first day. I managed to do my Power 90 video and wow I can feel it today.....my muscles are howling. You should have seen me trying to get out of bed.....lol.....now that Im up they are warmed up a little and not as sore but still sore. I like the feeling at least I know my muscles are still under there somewhere. I just need to get rid of the fat layer.

I didnt get my walk in.....I know whats up with that!! Actually I have a good excuse (no I wasnt watching General Hospital) I was up to my elbows in laundry and I had planned to take my daughter to the park but after running to the bank and grocery store I had to get home to meet my sons bus, then we had homework and it was his birthday so I took him to the movies and dinner. I had a slice of pizza for dinner which sorta blew my SBD but I kinda put myself in a bind and I was hungry. I still ate way below my carbs. Im still proud of myself:) BIG SMILE.

Well Its freezing outside right now so I may bundle up and go for a walk or just hang out here and do my 3 mile WATP video.

Take care!!!! Have a great Day!!!!

10-23-2003, 07:30 PM
I bet you all think I fell off the face of the earth! I have been trying to follow my proper eating habits and have fallen off the wagon a few times but weight wise I am still OK. sadly my treadmill has aquired a layer of dust. Between running one child to and from school 3 days a week, having to pick the other up from school, taking him to the Orthodontist then returning him back to school one day a week, shopping and just the same old house work I can't find the motovation to get on this treadmill! :dz: I also need to get my closet cleaned out! It is filled with clothes I can no longer wear because they are to big!:cb: I have been shopping for clothes that do fit and when I do shop I try and park farther away from the store and when I come across them I try and take stairs over the elevator. My problem is most times I am dragging my 4 year old so shopping is slow and he wants to push the buttons in the elevator or use the "moving stairs":?: When I can shop without him I try and pick up my pace when I walk as well but sometimes it's hard when you get behind slow walkers in the malls or stores.
Well, wish me luck over the upcoming holidays that I can at least hold my own.:goodvibes

10-24-2003, 03:11 PM
Hi Ladies,

Noelle, I am sorry :( ! I forgot to congratulate you on your loss the last time I posted. You are doing great and WTG on your loss! :bravo: :cp: :cb: I can't believe I did that. :?:

Faye, thanks for adding Aunt Molly and Margaret to your list. That is such a sweet thing you are doing. And good luck with it tomorrow. WTG on your loss also! :bravo: :cp: :cb: You ladies are doing marvelous! Thomas is such a cutie pie! You'll have to post a photo of you with your new do.

I am down 2 pounds this week which is surprising as I don't think I tried as hard as i should have. But 2 pounds is good. I only did a 3/4 mile walk yesterday but did get in a 3 mile walk this morning at the park. It was such a nice day, there was a cool breeze so that made it all the better.

Janine, glad to see ya posting and hear that you are doing good. WTG on parking farther away from the store to get that walking in. It does count and add up. Just running after a 4-year old is exercise in itself! Hope to see more of ya around here.

Jaime, how are you doing today? Probably busy running after your little one. They do keep you busy at that age. What am I talking about they keep you busy and running at any age!

Jenifer, hope you are having a good day.

Well, ladies I am outta here. Talk to ya soon. Hope EVERYONE has a GREAT day and weekend! :flow2:

10-25-2003, 04:48 AM
Hey everyone :). Just a quickie post tonight. It's an anniversary of sorts for me. It was one year ago today that I had my "a-ha" moment and started my new WOE. I have successfully kept off 28.6 lbs and have made some great friends and a wonderful network of support--thank you ladies for that.

Cristi, thanks for the kudos on my loss. I'm looking forward to another weigh-in tomorrow morning and hope I've done well :crossed:. Good job on YOUR 2 lbs, vanished forever! Woo-Hoo!!!

Faye, The Godfather, eh? I'll look for that the next time I'm at Blockbuster video ;). I don't know if you'll read this before you go, but I'll be thinking of you tomorrow as you do your 5K! Good luck :lucky: Hey, :bravo: on your loss too!

Hi Janine, long time no post! You're sure to be burning those calories just chasing after the little ones. Good to have you back.
I hope to see you around here often.

Hi Jaime, happy belated b-day to your son :hb:. You had a busy day so it's understandable about not getting to walk. At least you did your Power 90 workout the first day. The first step is the hardest, good job.

Jenifer, hope to see you pop in soon.

Take care ladies, have a great weekend.

Hi and thanks for the welcome back! Hi Jaime and welcome to the group! Faye I use to be here and then I was gone for a while, this was back in April! Whoaaa how time flies! I'm glad to see all your smiling faces!
Oh Cristi my pup is doing great she is so big! At her 4 month appointment she was tipping the scale over 40 pounds. She is going to be a very BiG DoG! She is in the crate at night and outside during the day. We let her in sometimes.
Went to the gym Wed, Thursday and Friday had weigh in today and lost 2.2 and after that went to the gym! It's amazing and feels so good when you lose weight how much easier it is to do things. I was walking on the tredmill and decided you know I can jog and tried it! I did it off and on for the 30 minutes! I was happy! I'm on a role!

Take care and I hope you all are having a great weekend! I won't be able to post much but I try!

10-26-2003, 09:46 AM

I really walked the whole race. This is a BIG accomplishment for me and I was pretty emotional about the whole thing. Here I am crossing the finish line and my daughter just walked in front of me and turned around to give me a hug and dh snapped the pic. I sobbed, I really did. I know people thought I was nuts, but I don't care. No one can know what it is like to be 400+ lbs in Jan and be walking 3.1 miles in a race just several months later and 90 lbs down. Thanks for all your support ladies!

10-26-2003, 09:48 AM
Congrats Faye! I am so proud for you!

10-26-2003, 10:24 AM
Faye that is soooo awesome. I can imagine that I will be emotional too once I shed my heavy body for a nice new lean and healthy one. You are a true inspiration to me. Congrats!!!!!

Jenifer- Super job on the 2.2 pounds gone and on the jogging on the treadmil.......that is one of my mini goals to be able to jog on the treadmil or on the trails. Keep up the good work:)

Have a fab day everyone!!! Its raining and I have no TV to do my WATP :( today. I can't wait til I can join a gym again. To have more Cardio options. I feel good so I know Im still doing well:) Have a great day:)

Jaime: I lived in Va Beach not once but twice. My husband was career Navy and has since retired from the USN. It is a beautiful city and if it hadn't been for being in the Navy, I would have enjoyed it a whole lot more. The first time we lived there was when Jack and I got married and we lived in an apartment on Spring Lake Crescent and then the second time we lived in Base housing just off General Booth BLVD. Jack was stationed at Oceana and also aboard the USS Kennedy. I worked at Oceana's OB GYN clinic and I also worked at Lynnhaven elementary for awhile. Good luck with your weight loss program! I know you can do it!!! If you haven't done so, check out my website at www.freewebs.com\trexnonny/. It is there specifically to be a place to go to get some inspiration and help to know that YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH ANYTHING!

10-26-2003, 11:30 AM
Congratulations Faye!!! You are awesome!!! :high:

That is such a great picture, so full of emotion. You're making me teary eyed and dang proud of you! Oh, and LOVE that red hair on you! Matches that fiery :flame: personality of yours. You go Faye :dancer: :cb: :jig: :balloons:

10-26-2003, 11:43 AM
Whew, that was a super inspiring post, thanks for sharing Faye. So much that I'm up and at 'em and raring to go. When the sun comes up and it's safe to go out by myself, I'm going for a walk.

I had my weigh-in yesterday at WW and was down 1.2 lbs :). That's a total of 6.4 lbs to date on this program. I am feeling pumped :strong:. I took my son Michael to the pumpkin patch yesterday and we roamed through the mud searching for "the" perfect pumpkin. This is only the 2nd year this farm has opened to the public and it's gotten wildly popular. So much so that this year they started charging for parking, and added a whole bunch of jumping balloon inflatables, a petting zoo, pony rides, hayrides and food booths . On the plus side my son got to experience his very first pony ride. He had a blast and it was fun watching. I took a few pics with my disposable camera so when I get them developed I'll scan a few and share.

 Jaime, keep those spirits up! It's great for motivating the rest of us.

Jenifer, WTG on those 2.2 lbs!!! :D

Hi Janine, how's your weekend going?

 Hi Cristi!

I gotta get those shoes on and get moving. Have a good one!

10-26-2003, 03:41 PM
Great job Faye!

Wow! You did awesome! I'm sure glad I started posting here again!

Noelle great job on you weight loss! Keep it up! I love weight watchers!

I just got back from the gym. An hour workout is what I have been my average. I feel so good!

Talk to you all later!

10-26-2003, 03:52 PM
Good job on the workout jenifer. I miss the gym soooo much....can't wait til my daughters starts Kindergarten so I have a chance to go daily.

Well the rain let up and I decided to brave it and go for my walk...was actually craving the workout (LOVE that) I did two miles.....would have done three but dang rain started and I didnt want to get caught up in a downfall.

Faye: Wow small world.......I was born in Portsmouth Naval....Im a navy brat and was a navy wife for awhile but now I'm divorced. I love virginia beach.

10-26-2003, 04:26 PM
I am so impressed with all you ladies at what an awesome job everyone is doing.

Faye, CONGRATULATION'S on a walk well done! You are truly an inpsiration to us all and we are very proud of you! WTG! :bravo: That is such a GREAT picture, love the red hair!

Jenifer, WTG on your loss! :bravo: Great job on working out also. I love those dogs but not sure I want a big dog, yes they do get big. But they are so pretty.

Noelle, WTG on your loss also! :bravo: Sounds like you guys had fun at the pumkin patch. DH and I went to the zoo last week and had a great time. They now have a petting zoo at the zoo and it is such a treat for us to watch the little ones in there with the animals. They love feeding the animals.

Janine, glad to see ya posting. :)

Jaime, glad the rain let up and you got a walk in. :)

Not much going on with me today. Went to church today and lunch afterwards. It was nice, of course I was playing with the kids. They were dressed up today & father Mike had them parade around the altar-so cute! This one little boy couldn't have been two, he was so tiny, we were playing peek-a-boo. Okay, so the service was a bit boring. He couldn't be still, neither could I. I was fighting to stay awake. Father Mike had to go somewhere and was there for about 10 minutes and had a visitng Father. Anyway, I am going to try and get in a short walk today sometime, not much else to do.

Have a great day everyone. :sunny:

Hi Janine, how's your weekend going?

Thanks for asking Noelle.
I am busy cleaning out my closet. My closet is about 5 feet long and jam packed with clothes I no longer wear. It's all to big so I am purging and man do I mean purging! I have a bunch of stuff that I have bought over the past couple months but they have just been folded and laid on my dresser cuz that is full of stuff that is to big also. I also bought a new closet organizer that I want to put in. Maybe I will get it all done by the end of next week. I have 2 huge boxes of clothes to donate to charity and 2 smaller boxes to give to a friend for her daughters. I need to find more bigger boxes. I have some in the attic but they are to small. I could put maybe 5 or 6 things in and the box would be full. Not good for packaging up clothes.
It feels so good to clean that all out. I also found a pair of pants I was wearing when I started my weight loss quest over a year ago. They are a size 18W but tight. They are also stretch jeans so I was probably really a 20W. I tried them on and couldn't believe it. They are so HUGE! I am wearing a size 12 right now! I am debating on keeping them to remember how big I was.
Well, after I am done with my closet it will be time for my dresser. It feels so good to get rid of all those memories cuz they are not good ones for me.

10-26-2003, 06:38 PM
I was getting ready to log out and saw that Janine had posted and wanted to say Hi.

Wow Janine, what a difference! Those pants look HUGE! I wear some 18 pants, but mostly a 16 and seeing that really makes me feel FAT! :yikes: I can't believe the difference in a size 12 & 18 WOW, and you look FABULOUS! You have done an awesome job and are an inpiration to me. WTG!

I plan on cleaning my closet next week when I switch over to winter clothes. I know that 80 degree weather we had last week is over for now. I have a bag of clothes sitting in the floor ready to go to the goodwill but I know I will have 2 more bags. Not clothes that are too big, well, some are but clothes I just haven't worn in a few years. No point in keeping them.

Anyway, :blah: :blah: :blah: I could go on and on but I really need to get off this thing. Take care ladies.

10-26-2003, 09:23 PM
Janine you look awesome! I bet you feel so good! Ya for you! I love seeing before and after pics of people. Thanks for sharing your pics!!! You go girl!
Just thought I'd check in before I go and do my favorite thing......dishes from dinner. ughhh! Talk to you all later!

10-27-2003, 11:02 AM
Janine: How awesome you are looking. Here is a kind of cool idea for the pants that I saw on a diy show. They did a bridal gown, but if you would really like to have a before thing, you get a piece of acryllic, tack the pants up on the wall where you want to display them with whatever else you would like, ie notes on your progress whatever, then just screw the acryllic into the wall. You can actually make sort of a collage of weight loss stuff and maybe put it in a family room or your private room or office.

I did 2 miles in a very chilly Memphis this morning. It went from upper 80's 2 days ago and it was 45 this morning when I walked! BRRR! Hope that is not a sign of things to come. I know it is almost NOV but I am not ready for winter!

Take care and have a great day ladies!

10-27-2003, 04:41 PM
Hi ladies, Faye, Noelle, Janine, Jaime, Jenifer, and all you ladies MIA hope everyone is having a great day. :)

I got a 2 mile walk in this morning at the park, it was a little chilly, brrr. Once I got moving it was fine. I plan on doing another mile later and the exercise ball. That thing is so much fun.

Anyway, that's about all I have going for now. You ladies take care. TTFN

10-28-2003, 01:41 AM
Wow wish I could say it was chilly here. I ended up going to the gym again for an hour. I did tredmill/weight. I feel sooo good! keep up the walking!

10-28-2003, 03:59 AM
Hey ladies. Just updating my mileage for today. Got in the regular 3.5 miles :dancer:. I think I'm overconditioned for my Bangkok trip. I'm used to going some distance at a moderate pace. I forgot that when we're in BKK the sidewalks or shopping areas are often so congested that it's stop and go navigating on foot. At least I can look forward to the wonderful foot massages--1 hr for $5 American :cloud9:

Wowza Janine! You look great! Isn't it an amazing feeling to know that you're not in that 18 anymore? You and I have a lot of similarities as far as our starting points. I'm only 5'3" and at my highest weight I wore an 18 and was fast approaching a 20 :o: last October. I'm now in some loose 16's and coming back down into 14s. The reason why I joined WW was because I was outgrowing my 14's which I fought so hard for. I had purged my closet of the 18's awhile back. Good job lady! I'm proud of you.

Cristi, you're doing great lady--don't put yourself down. We all started from somewhere larger than we are now. But we're all working it off! :strong:

Ooh Faye 45 degrees is a bit chilly. I love that type of weather but not if it was everyday. What type of exercises do you do indoors when it gets cold?

Jenifer~~ you go girl. I love that motivation you have. How much longer on your trial membership?

Hi Ladies :sunny:

Today is WATP day, and stationary bike. I am also planning a mile on the treadmill. Getting a late start as I had errands this morning which took up half the day. I did get in another mile on the treadmill last night and some work with the exercise ball. That thing is fun but I never dreamed it would be as hard as it is, not the ball, but the exercises using it. It scares my doggy. He comes around to see what it is but when you start moving around on it he runs. silly dog.

Noelle, a hour foot massage?! Ahhhhh, one can only dream :cloud9: My hubby gives a good one but they are few and far in between, and defintiely not for an hour. But good none the less. WTG on your walk. I haven't been keeping track of mine until this week. I basically started over on Monday and am getting back in the swing of things.

Jenifer, WTG on your workout at the gym. And yes it does feel good when you work out! :)

Hi to the rest of you ladies-Janine, Jaime, Faye and all you other ladies who are MIA. Take care ladies and have a wonderful day. :)

10-28-2003, 09:13 PM
Hey all!!! Sorry to be MIA. I fell of the diet wagon today:( But Im doing better now and getting going again.

I bought a new WATP video (four miles) which is good because I dont think its going to quit raining. I sure hope it does before halloween because my munchkins will be awful upset to have to go trick or treating at the mall instead of the big houses that give GOOD candy......yikes I forgot about halloween candy!!! LOL. I think I will be ok.......lol.

Have a great night all.
Oh yeah I got a job!!! At Target doing overnight stock!! I will get a ton of exercise at work. Bets sititng on my butt all day.

10-28-2003, 09:24 PM
Can anyone tell me if they have ever used the PowerBelt for their walks? I want to buy one but would like some feedback before I spend the money.

10-28-2003, 11:05 PM
Hi ladies! Looking good! The weather here has been great! After work today I didn't feel like going to the gym. After 6 days I think I needed a rest. I feel like people at work are trying to sabotage me but other than that I'm doing okay. They bring in Starbucks and then Candy or Corn nuts. Uhghhhh! Stay away from me. I reall want to do good and want to see a loss this week! I drank so much water today I feel like I'm going to float away. Have a great week and I will be going to the gym tomorrow. I have to only go into work for 3 hours then DH is having that eye surgery....No more GLASSES! YA! See ya all later!

10-29-2003, 02:12 AM
Hey ladies. It's raining something awful here right now. It's a good thing I got my evening walk in before it started though. We could use the cooling down because it's been so muggy. I'm doing well on my mileage this month and should reach my 80 mile mark by the end of the month :dancer:.

WooHoo Jenifer! I find that the more water I drink the more the lbs seem to float away. When's your next weigh in? Good luck to DH on his surgery!

Jaime, how long does it take to do the 4 mile tape? As long as you're moving all is not lost. Congrats on the job. I love Target, we don't have one here in Hawaii so whenever I'm on the mainland I look for one and have a blast. WalMart and Kmart get kinda old fast. We're supposed to have rain on Halloween night too. I don't know what we'll do if that happens, probably hit the mall like you. Let's hope for clear skies :crossed:.

Cristi I've read on some other threads that using the exercise ball helps you tone your waist and abdomen area. Watch for them sexy curves ;)! Keep up the great work.

Aprilbride, I've not tried the powerbelt but I guess it's supposed to increase the calorie burn because it gives the resistance to your upper body as you swing your arms? For less of a sting on the pocketbook try looking on ebay, I've seen some starting @ $25 with a reserve price, or a buy it now price for around $60. Good luck on your search.

 Hi to Janine and Faye. Hope your week is starting off well.

10/28/03 Miles walked to date: 75.70

10-30-2003, 02:46 AM
Hey ladies, I got my regular 3.5 miles in today.

Mileage update:
10/29/03 79.2

Had a little run in this evening with a slice of cinnamon loaf bread. I had enough points for it but I can't help but feel like I cheated a little. Oh well... I had to eat it because it was for a good cause--a fundraiser for my son's school :^:. Tomorrow's another day. Have a good night all.

10-30-2003, 04:18 PM
Hey Ladies! Been doing between 2-3 miles a day. The weather is just right though is going to warm up again for the next week or so, which means getting out early before it gets too hot.

Noelle: I have a glider and a resistance training band I use when I do inside exercise. I have a bad knee so I don't do much aerobic tape type stuff. Hopping up and down hurts too much, though walking I seem to be ok as long as I take it easy.

My new thing is to eradicate one area every month where I always eat and I shouldn't. For example, this month (actually NOV) I am not eating while reading or watching tv. I want to break that cycle of food being more important than the function, you know? It is hard to break habits like that, but I think it is important to do so, like why does everyone HAVE to eat at a movie? Or why do you always seem to have to eat when you meet friends somewhere? I have already conquered the eating in bed, eating in car things.

Cristi: I can just see me using one of the balls. I would get momentum and just roll right into the next room over and over!
 My yorkie is not afraid of my glider, but whenever I get on it, he comes and sits in the front of it and watches it swing back and forth sort of being hypnotized!

JAIME:Did you like your dad being in the Navy or not? My children hated it and that was all they knew up until he retired and he retired when my daughter was in jr high and my son was in high school. They never told me until they were adults that they hated it. I don't think we would do it over again for the long haul. It disrupts the family way too much. Divorce rates are astronomical in the Navy and I think it is mainly because women go into the marriage not knowing exactly what to expect. My dh sat me down before we married and was brutally honest with me about being gone etc. Have fun at your new job, but it is a killer on the knees! Years ago I worked the overnight shift for 7-11 and would have to do stock and I always hated putting the stuff on the bottom shelves because you had to bring all the old stuff forward etc so you were practically laying on your stomach!

Well I better scoot!

10-30-2003, 11:48 PM
Hi ladies! Well two days of not going to the gym was okay until tonight! I was so pooped after 20 minutes. I didn't do too much though. DH can see with NO GLASSES! He is excited and I'm going to have to get use to it, 8 years of seeing him with glasses. Kind of weird! A new man......hahahaaa!
Jamie how do you like Target? Do you have to work nights? Just curious! Hope your back on track! :)
Faye sounds like your doing great! I love Yorkies! They're just so cute. Even though I have my big dog I would love to have a little one to take everywhere. Have you see Legally Blonde? I love that movie! Her dog goes everywhere she goes.
Noelle I agree about the water and I need to really get some more down before my weigh in on Saturday. I weigh in at 8 AM.

I found out today at work we're not allowed to dress up.......thought it was silly! What do you all think?
Take Care!

10-31-2003, 03:25 AM
Hey everyone. I think I can finalize my mileage today with another 3.5 miles. I won't be getting my regular walk in tomorrow, just taking my son trick-or-treating around the neighborhood. We carved the pumpkin tonight and had a lot of fun. I can't wait to have it out on the porch tomorrow night.

Jenifer I'm glad you got back to working out. Sometimes it's soooooo hard to get going after you take a few days off. Good for you. I WI @ 7:30 a.m. Saturday so I'll have my fingers crossed for you and you do the same for me :high:. So glad to hear your DH's surgery went well. A new man huh? Imagine the possibilities! Was that Lasik? I'm interested in it but my Optometrist tells me my eyes aren't bad enough to have it done . In the meantime I'm continuing to read my novels in the near dark at night (just kidding).

Faye, I so know what you mean about the eating in front of the TV thing. Sometimes whatever it is I'm eating is gone in a flash and it seems like I didn't even taste it! Hey, my dad was a career Navy man, although he retired in '73 when I was just a year and a half. I was born in Little Rock, AR but we moved to HI when he retired. I didn't get to travel at all aside from the move here. My 6 sisters above me though, went from the west coast (CA and NV then HI) and all the way south to AR where I was born. The hardest part for them was that we weren't white or black. They (the southerners) categorized us as either Indian or Mexican, which we were neither. All I can say is, we all love living here in HI for it's diversity.

Jaime, Cristi and everyone else, hope you're having an awesome week. Happy Halloween to all.

Mileage update:
10/30/03 82.7 :dancer: ~wow! I suprised myself~

10-31-2003, 05:50 PM
Hi Ladies,

Awesome job Noelle on the miles walked! WOOHOO! :cp: Hey, I didn't know you were born in Little Rock! What a small world, I too was born in Little Rock, but lived most of my life in California. From the time I was born till I was 17 we were back and forth as my parents couldn't decide where they wanted to live, and we had family in CA. When we moved there at 17 I was there for 18 years, and I miss it! I miss not being able to go to the beach, and the food! But the traffic-UGH!

I haven't really been posting my miles on the site but I have been keeping track of my exercise. I feel off the wagon those three weeks so thought I would start posting them again for November. Didn't get a walk in today or yesterday. I have come down with a cold and my throat has been killing me. Feeling better today and tomorrow I will get a walk in for sure. It's a new month and day so I have to right?!

Jenifer, glad to hear you DH came out of surgery fine. I have heard nothing but good things about the lasik surgery but for me wearing glasses isn't that big a pain. Besides I am a chicken when it comes to the eyes. I had a growth cut off the inside of my eye a few years ago and that was the worst pain I have ever endured, even worse than having a baby-for me anyway. They had to give me a shot in the corner of my eye to numb it so they could cut it off and OMG! :yikes: My eyes aren't so bad either, I can see without glasses but it bothers me to read without them. I was out and about and noticed a lot of people not dressing up. Yeah, what is up with that? I thought most companies let the employees dress up. It's always fun when they do.

Faye, those balls are harder than they look! It is hard to balance yourself on it, of course the dog wants to play and I don't know if he will bust it with his paws or not, they are not real long and the plastic is really thick but I don't want to take the chance. I would hate to have that thing pop in my face-OUCH! I bet your yorkie is so cute! I love yorkies and have always wanted one but didn't feel like paying more than $300 for one. My dog also comes and sits in front of the treadmill when ever someone is on it. I don't get it. It doesn't matter who it is he is in front of it, weird. I too am working at eating at the table. We are terrible about eating while we watch T.V. I don't eat when I read or am on the computer and I actually don't know when I started eating in front of the tv but I hate it. We always ate at the table and I had the tv off. Dinner time was our time to catch up with each other and talk about how everyones day went. Now we are lucky if we all sit down at the same time.

Janine, hope you are having a good day.

Jaime, hope you are having a good day also and enjoying your new job.

Aprilbride04, I have never used a powerbelt for my walks. The only thing that goes around me is my disc player.

Well, ladies I am outta here for now. Looking forward to a new day and start tomorrow. Take care and have a safe and fun Halloween!

Oh, anyone have any ideas for a new name for Novembers thread?

11-01-2003, 01:08 PM
Hey all! I'm heading off to my WI in a few short minutes. I'll let you know how I do when I get back :crossed:. I'll be thinking of a new November thread name while I wait for my meeting to start (unless of course Faye beats me to it ;) ).

Jenifer, how'd your WI go? Good news I bet, all those days of going to the gym :goodvibes:.

Cristi, hehe, it's a small world after all. We lived on Magnolia Street in Little Rock. That's about all I know. I would love to visit all the towns our family's lived in and see what it's like today.

Well ladies, hope you all have a great day and I'll check back later...please feel free to start a new thread or I'll do it when I get back.

11-01-2003, 04:32 PM
Ooops! Noelle I had started a new thread before reading this post! Sorry! I went ahead and deleted it. Good luck with your weigh in today! :goodvibes:

I'll wait and post my miles walked today on the new thread later. Take care ladies and have a good day!
