first, a wee note to all those who expressed an interest in meeting up IN REAL LIFE sometime someplace next year. i just sent you guys an email message. if anyone else is interested in finding out about this then let me know. we're doing it via email cos a bit more secure (as you know, anyone can read these posts). just drop me a line at kurstie@hotmail.com and i'll forward you the message. everyone from this group is more than welcome, we just thought it'd be fun to actually see each other in the flesh. unfortunately you'll have to fund yourself, but maybe WW magazine would do a special on it!?
secondly, i'm doing amazingly well at going to the gym right now. i think i'm addicted. to that and the veggie sushi from sainsbury's. yum... ;) but brenda mentioned something about running and dodgy knees. i'm worried about my joints as well, so i do take it fairly easy and i wear decent shoes. maybe you should ask a doctor what they reckon about running. if in doubt, don't do it, stick to walking/swimming or other low impact stuff.
well done on the land deal tonya! well done any losers. tsk tsk any gainers!
ali - i met my b/f when i was about 10 pounds from goal. when we were out one night (drinking, what a surprise!) he pulled at the top of my trousers and said they weren't mine cos they were practically falling off me. i just shrugged and said i used to be a "big, fat bloater" but i'm ok now! we just joke about it. i tell him that he should appreciate my body cos he's the first to see it. (poor old ex b/f's got the padded version). he's totally cool about it and it isn't an issue.
hope you are all well, i'll come back and post more later.

D'oh my pictures scanned out really badly so I am going to have re-scan them. They make me look really bad. Oh well.
Kirsty: I told the person I wanted to tell last night, he was really good about it so I was happy. I guess I still have issues about myself and guys, I guess most aren't as shallow as I once thought:)
Anyhoo, I hope everyone has a good day!

Morning everyone...OK-so I did pretty well at dinner last night-I went into it with 18 points and we got swordfish and scallops and shrimp....but I'm sure I went over a little bit anyway:( I'll just have to exersize extra hard today...hope everyone else is on track...I have to say that thinking of all of you helped keep me in line!!!:)Thanks for the encouragement.
Happy Tuesday...went apt hunting a little bit yesterday-Boston area rents are insane!!! If I had any kind of money for a downpayment it would be so much cheaper to buy..It kills me to throw away so much money in rent....oh well-on to drinking water today:lol:

Hi all!
Kim - thanks for doing the happy dance for me... I'm sure you burned a couple calories doin that :) Just kidding.
Ali - wow - almost 100 pounds! What an inspiration. Did something just click? what helped you most - exercise, WW - I'd love to know your secret.
I've often wondered that too about boys. Do we tell them. I mean they are bound to see old pictrues of us (I'm speaking in future tense after I've lost 100 pounds too). I'm afraid that they'll think it's inevitable that we'll gain it back. I don't know. I've thought about that.
You're right - it shoudln't matter. I'd wait until either he sees a picture or until you feel comfortable enough with him to share that. If he's worth anything he'll be proud of you and supportive.
Ladies - have a good one.

Happy Tuesday!!
Ali ~ Hats off to you! Forgive me, I haven't ever looked at your stats before, but, WOW!!! You are an inspiration to me too, so much weight gone forever!!!
Kirsty ~ I know what you mean about the gym, I am finally getting back into being obsessed with working out. It is a good feeling!!
Hi to Tilley, LoriD, and everyone else!!! (I am not about to list the names, there are so many of us now, and I don't want to forget anyone!!)
Well, I stuck to it yesterday and fulfilled all my goals. I ate 18-20 pts yesterday, drank 80 oz. of water, walked over my lunch break and when to the gym last night and did the weights for 20 minutes and walk another 3 miles. I feel terrific today, definately going to keep it up today!!!!
Here are my goals for today:
1. Eat within my point range, perferably 18-20 pts.
2. Drink 80 oz of water today.
3. Walk 2 miles over my lunch break.
Thanks for bearing with me while I post my goals, I think I need to do this every once in a while to help me succeed!
Well, back to work, check in later!! :)

HI Everyone, just thought I would check in quickly, my internet server has been down since Friday!!!! They said that for some reason I am logged on to 2 servers and that the modem gets confused as to which one to go to......BLAH BLAH BLAH!!!! I tried logging on at work yesterday but I got a message saying it was an illegal site...but today it is working fine. I am swamped today, both my supervisors are away and I'm running the show.....I will try and get in a proper post once I am back on line at home!!!!! Hope everyone had a good start to the week:) Good Luck to all that WI tonight....
Have a great day:wave:

Hello......I am doing good today - last night I just made dinner, vegged with b/f and went to bed, but it was a very relaxing night...tonite, packing....no good!! YIKES I dread it...but I am working through lunch to leave early, take my dogs for a good walk and pack until I am blue in the face.
I am glad everyone is so motivated lately!
I am so into getting together soon!! Kirsty, I emailed already!!
Well, as usual, I am insanely busy - in my own apt. I can hook up my modem and do some of this from home!! YAY!! CAn't wait...this at work thing isn't working very well.
Think I am going to WI tomorrow night or Thurs night (when not packing....)
Have a good day and I'll check in later!!

Belle, I am with you on the packing...moving day for me is on Saturday:eek: B/F and I got pretty much everything done on Sunday, but it is just me to do all the last minute "things" I just want to load everything into a garbage bag and then start fresh!!!! When do you move???? I'll be thinking about you!!!!
I forgot to ask this question earlier....everyone has been talking about Brigette Jones, I tried to find her book this weekend but I had no luck, can someone tell me the name of her book and if I am spelling her name correctly??? Thanks so much:)

Okay there you guys go! I hope I am not messing up too many of your browsers. The first pic was taken in 1998 when I was about 250+ lbs and the second was taken this past weekend. The quality isn't perfect but I am sure you can get the idea.
Lori: yeah I am also moving into an expensive city this year (though not as expensive as Boston), so I'll be having loads of fun. mmmmmm I love shrimp!
Lisa: It took time and patience and getting the right combination of eating right/exercise and mental attitude. I understand your hesitation completely though about telling guys, those are my fears too (about a guy thinking I'll just gain it back or whatever).
Tonya: Thank You:) You're pretty much at goal now right? How did you find maintanance, I am a little nervous about starting that (though happy at the same time).
Kirsty: That's so cool about your boyfriend. How long have you been at goal anyway?
Hello to Belle, Stephanie and to everyone else:)

Lori - I'm from Boston too! Cool.
Tonya, wow - you too are an inspiration. You've made quite an accomplishment!
And Ali - oh my god! You look like a totally different person. Has anyone not recognized you? Well, you look great. You looked great before too. I can't get over those pictures. I hope to have some before and after pictures myself one day. :)
I went to the hip hop class again last night. I'm telling you - I'm making a total fool of myself. It's like a scene straight from a comedy movie. But you know what - I'm having fun. And as long as I'm not endangering any other of the attendees I'm gonna keep going and making a fool of myself :)
To the rest.... have a good afternoon!

Girls, TOM is here with a vengence. I am exhausted and Blah. I am bummed b/c I was on pts all wk. (except Sat and Sun. but I made up for it with exercise and banking) and TOM came last night. I am supposed to WI tomorrow and was expecting a big loss. I weighed at work today and I am down a little more than a pd. but my question is should I go WI tomorrow or take a wk off? What do you guys do? Sometimes I hate being a girl :dizzy:
Trish- Thanks for the encouragement yesterday. I managed to finish the day on the low side of my point range.
Tanya- I am impressed at your will power with the Cinnabon this weekend. They are evil:devil: I managed to make up for the set back though.
Lisa-Congrats on the 2 1/2 pds!!!!
Ali- I would either bring a friend or meet in a highly public place and drive seperately. But hey that's me and I am a paranoid lunatic. :s: I think I have seen one too many scary movies ;) Your pics are great wow! I am inspired, truly.
Kim-Good job getting rid of the cookies or at least attempting too. It is good that your mindset has changed. Even though you ate 3 if you are anything like this sweets addict before it would have been the box :)
Kirsty-You crack me up! The "padded" version
I too am loving exercise. I missed my aerobic class on sat. and I felt yucky all day. I truly MISSED it!
Well girls have to go to lunch. We are having another in service where they bring fattening food. AHHHH Oh well
Please let me know what all of you do when it is that TOM?

i was a good girl and always weighed in when i was losing. easier to keep on track, and if you do put on you know what to blame. of course, now i'm at goal i never weigh in then cos i will be a couple of pounds heavier! but it's best to go because once you skip one week, it leads to another and another and....you get the idea. also, you will probably see a bigger loss the week after (and that's always worth it). good luck!
ali - i've been at goal since dec 15 1999. woo hoo! i still can't believe it myself, but i know i'm never going back to the old me!
brenda - i'm about to go for cocktails. hee hee, just thought i should tell ya! ;) when we all meet up we'll need to do a big cocktail session (followed by lots of exercise and healthy food to make up for it!).

Hello Tuesday! I think I was OP yesterday. I say I think b/c I had GS cookies last night and I didn’t count how many. It wasn’t a binge or anything, I think I’m only 1 or 2 cookies off, but at least I attempted to count them. DH and I had a stupid fight this morning so I grabbed 2 samoas as I was leaving the house. I counted those as part of my breakfast. Why do emotions make me not care about plan? Grrr. Oh well. The rest of the day will go better. I’m going to try very hard to stick with the salad I have in the fridge for lunch. I’m feel tired not only b/c I was up to late, but the argument took a lot out of me too. I’ve already had coffee this morning but it’s not working. I really want to finish this 32 oz of water before I go get a Diet Dr. Pepper (Trish!) I have PL training tonight that I’m actually looking forward too and I’m going to run by Subway on my way down so I’m not tempted to be bad! Wait! I got some exercise last night! We took the dog to the park and threw the frisbee and ran with him some. Do you think that counts as my two for the day? That would make up for those lost cookie points :s: I still haven’t figured out a way to get the pic I have small enough to fit on the board :?:
J9: Way to go on your 3 lb loss. Woohoo!! Keep it up.
Lisa: Congrats on such a great loss!! Want to send some of that exercise motivation my way?? You are absolutely right about the guys and our ‘former’ weight. They aren’t worth it if they can’t accept us for who we are no matter what we weigh. I mean come, we will all gain weight no matter what when we are pregnant right? If the hip hop class is that funny maybe you could win money on Amercia’s funniest home videos *wink wink nudge nudge* I think it’s great that you aren’t quitting just b/c you feel a little strange. Keep it up!
Ali: I don’t think it’s silly at all to be worried about the fact that you used to be overweight. Glad you told him and it went well :D Those pictures are amazing! Major kudos to you for all that you have accomplished. You are a true source of inspiration. I agree that you look like a totally different person.
Kierie: Whatever you decide as far as meds, just be careful and follow the instructions. *hugs*
Belle: Hi!!
Kim: Why do people think they are being nice when they bring us sweets????
Casey: My sinus’ have been killing me lately. If I’m not stuffed up, I’m draining like crazy and my stomach kills me. No matter what I’m a sneeze monster. Grrrrr.
Kirsty: I got a much needed laugh at the ‘padded version’ comment. Never thought of it quite that way! Keep up the gym work.
Lori: Good job on dinner last night. Boy is that making my mouth water!
Steph: Hope you were able to come up for air at work.
Trish: There's a meeting I can make on Thursday! Yeah for me.
Becky: TOM? I try harder to stay OP, have low point munchies around and always expect a gain (then I'm pleasantly suprised if I maintain or lose). I just figure it's one week every month that I'm not sure what will happen. Sorry, that's not much of a solution!!

Hello girls,
This morning has just been a disaster. I got a letter saying I owe over $700 to some company I never heard of. It was addressed to my old old address of a college dorm and the phone number was the number from then also. Well I guess it turns out in my idiot college years I cashed one of those checks you get in the mail saying if you cash this then you are agreeing to join our phone company or something like that. Well, I cashed it but the muber was not my own so that is why I got the bill. It was very strange and I talked to some mean collecting agency but I think I figured it out. I'm going to pay back the $100 for the check I cashed and hopefully the $700+ will be lifted off my name. That's what the lady on the phone said anyways.
Have any of you ever seen Girl Interrupted? I watched it last night with bf and it was very disturbing. I went to bed feeling very depreesed and anxious.
Well, better get back to work....actually should eat something first. Haven't yet today.
BYE!

I am SO looking forward to spring and summer!!
I'm on my way out the door to Dallas/Irving for a conference, so I don't know if I'll be able to check in or not. There was a Hampton Inn by the Texas Motor Speedway that had internet connections through the TV, so maybe this one will, too!
I bought BOTH Bridget Jones books. I was reading the first one in line at Target and laughed out loud! They should be loads of fun.
Kirsty and Lolly: If I don't understand any terms, I'll let you know! Also, Kirsty, I didn't check my email this morning, but I do want the info on the meeting. I'll send you an email when I get back.
I don't know how my WW plan will fit with where I'm staying. I've never ordered room service before and I hate eating in a restaurant by myself! Whoops! I guess I'd better go!
Have a great week if I can't get back till Friday!

and boy am I feeling it! I'm having an allergy attack just like clock-work. Oh well. It's so nice outside that I am going out to go play this afternoon. ;)
Hubby finally set up our weightbench this weekend. HOORAY! I am very excited. We are going to devise a plan for me tonight and start this evening on the weights. I did do some on Sunday, but it was just to test out the bench and get a feel for it.
Saturday we got to go out kid-free. My wonderful in-laws took them on a moments notice. We went to the mall and I told DH I wanted to find some ankle bracelets cause I think they would be sexy during the summer with sandals. LOL (never had one before, Waaaaayyyy to fat) anyway, we found two and I got home and my ankle is still to big! They barely fit and sort of cut into my skin. I was bummed, but on the upside it is giving me a new goal to work for not to mention I already have a huge goal of trying to lose as much weight as possible for DH's 10 year reunion! AAAGGGHHHH. It would'nt be so bad except I know a lot of his class mates (he graduated 4 years before me)
well, I need to run and finish eating my breakfast. I feel so blah. I usually am better by mid-day so i will check back in later.
Ali- wow! What an amazing difference! I have pics like that to I should post eventually.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK LADIES, WE ARE WORTH IT! (not yelling, just emphasizing ;))

Emily: Hi and Thank you. Yeah when you get the oppourtunity you should post your pics:) We'd all love to see them.
Becky: yeah I am most likely dragging along my friend to my meeting anyway. I am big on the whole safety issue as well.
Suzanne: yes I have seen Girl Interrupted. angelina Jolie was amazing in it, but yeah the movie was kind of disturbing.
Sacey: Good Luck on your trip.
Brenda: Well the guy is just someone I've been chatting to on-line. I am meeting him next weekend, but I feel good about being honest with him.
Tilley: I went to a concert a month back and saw a friend of mine, I called out to him and he looked at me completely confused, he eventually figured out who I was. I also had blond hair in the first pic (which was messy to boot), but I have since gone back to my roots so to speak.
Take Care Y'All!

Hey! we had the greatest time at the concert last night. BNL was awesome. I think they are one of the best bands in concert. We were good and brought subway in the car, plus I brought microwave popcorn. I was doign really well at the concert but totally crqaved french fries. I got a lrge hot pretzel instead and think I ended the day at my max with 25 points :) I'm off to a good start so far today too so I am feeling good.
Tonya - Congrats on the land. I think you are doing a great job OP and meeting your goals. You inspire a lot of us.
Kirsty - I think it's great that you have maintained for over a year. I hope I will be able to say that some day.
Ali - You look great! I never noticed that you had lost so much weight. I am so impressed. I think you should be very proud of yourself and tell people whever you are comfortable. You are doing great!
Lolly - Sounds like you are having a great time in Spain. Good for you. I am sure that your exercise will even out the extra points in the unknown foods.
Brenda - you continue to amaze me with your ability to work, be married and be so active with PL. I am sure that you will be able to quit soon, you sound so successful.
Stacey - Good luck at your conference. I hope you have a good time in TX. Good luck OP.
Emily - Sorry about the ankle bracelet. Thatis like me and the knee high boots, my calves are still too big. DH and I are also going to reunions this summer. My 5 year college reunion is in June and his 10 year HS in in August. Of course I want to be at goal for both. I only know 4 of his HS friends but I want to impress the rest.
Becky - I try not to skip WI unless I can not go. I have only missed 4 in the past 14 months. (I think) I really need to keep going to stay on track.
Tilley - A hip-hop class sounds ;like so much fun! I have always wanted to do that. I used to do jazzercise and that was great. Now I just go to the gym and do my own work out. After I am done with grad school (this summer is the end) I want to take a tap class.
Steph and Belle - Good luck with packing. I know it's no fun but you are earning exercise points at least.
LoriD - you description of the Weight loss medication was very interesteing. I must have missed it when you started posting here, are yiou a doctor?
Have a super day everyone. DH isn't feeling well so I will be taking care of him tonight. See you later!

Hi Everyone :) Oh it is such a gorgeous day out!! I had my second class today... Managerial Accounting, so I was up and about early to enjoy the morning. I went out and washed my car this afternoon just to get a little air... well that and the car really needed it!
Kirsty... Veggie sushi?? Did I miss something? LOL
Ali... Wow! You must be so proud of yourself for losing all that weight. I think I missed the original post about guys and telling them about your weight past. I don't think I could do that lol. I mean they would see it in pics I guess but to just talk about it would be really weird for me. Sensitive issue I guess?? LOL. Maybe after awhile tho. Who knows :)
Anyways, just wanted to say hi to everyone. Oh... I saw a couple of people are from the Boston area?? I'm from Southern NH, not that far away really. Maybe we could all get together sometime. Hope you're all having a great afternoon! :)

It's supposed to snow today! Argh! And it's cold and windy already. Where is spring? I can't wait to get to Florida. It's raining there now, but it's supposed to clear up and be in the 70s all next week.
Ali: You look awesome! What an inspiration you are! And I would think that any guy you told about the weight loss would be proud of you!
Emily: I hear you about those allergies! Up until the temperature dropped today, flowers have have blooming here in Virginia and my sinuses know it! Once again, Allegra has become my friend.
Kirsty: Yum, sushi. I just had a California roll for lunch. I have to stay OP today because I had Mexican last night. I had done well all yesterday up until it was time for dinner and I didn't feel like cooking. B/f does not cook, so we went out. I felt so stuffed and guilty afterward. So I have to be extra good today and come in below points.
Suzanne: I saw Girl, Interrupted, and thought it disturbing, too. It was a very emotional movie but in the end, I decided I didn't really like it. I wouldn't see it again.
Well, girls. I gotta go. Have a good day!

Ali... I just read your post from yesterday asking about meeting people from online. I've met several people from online. Most were from an online roleplaying game that I played for a long time. One I met with a friend along, the rest I didn't. It's totally up to you. I've always just gone with my instincts and haven't had anything bad happen yet. Right now the person I spend most of my time with on the weekends I met from online (from the game too). He's a great guy and we have a blast together. Of course we'd played together online just about every day for over a year before we met... So it all just depends I guess. Anyways :) Just wanted to respond to that lol.

And I'm happyhappyhappy because my stuffed tiger who went missing last week has come back from his adventures in the hotel laundry ... he was my first-ever Christmas present from Blokey so I was pretty distressed when he disappeared (reported it to reception - they thought I was insane because I couldn't remember the Spanish for 'stuffed' so I jsut told them I had a tiger in my room!). But now he's back, and life is wonderful again. How sad am I?
Hope everyone's having a good week - everyone who hasn't, e-mail Kirsty about meeting up, it's going to be so fun! And to those people (Brenda, Trish, Stacey) who live near (relatively) to Kansas ... the conference people said they will let me know if my paper has been accepted at the beginning of April, so if it is I'll give you a shout! It will be so fab to meet up, whenever and wherever ...
And it's so cool to be putting faces to names - Ali, fab pictures! DO you know, for some reason I had you in my head with short blonde curly hair? How different could it be?! I don't look too dissimilar from you in my ´before´shots, but now I look totally different - I guess as we lose our generic 'fat' faces we finally find out what we're supposed to look like. I can't wait to find my real face! Does anyone else notice that?
Also, for those who were wondering about guys, well, I met Blokey when I was nearly at my biggest (and then got even bigger!) and he has never minded at all. But then, I didn´t mind very much either until it finally got too much. Maybe guys pick up on it more if it bothers you, and if it doesn't they're less likely to even notice? Just a thought ...
Lori - mmmm, that seafood sounds fabby. I LOVE seafood. I was intrigued about the running because I have no idea how far I run, I always do it by time. But 45 minutes sounds something to aim for (currently on 18mins!).
Tonya - keep posting your goals! It reminds me I should stick to mine ... and they do say happiness lies in the pursuit of attainable goals (who did say that anyway?)
Belle, Steph - WOO HOO! PAcking! What's your new place like? Tell us about it! (I'm a total property junkie .. Tonya, don't forget the photos!).
Tilley - hip hop sounds so cool! And who cares if you can't do it perfectly. I want to take up tae kwon do after the summer and I bet I'm not co-ordinated enough ... OK, I admit it, I jsut want to be Buffy ...
BEcky - I always WI, even during TOM, cause like Kirsty says then you get a real picture of your fluctuations ... some leaders will mark your card that week if you want them to ... not sure about that myself!
Brenda - you on the cookies, me with the cake fairies ... whyohwhyohwhy???!!! BUt YIPPEE I've found a Subway about 10 mins walk from my apartment so I will have to schedule in a visit ... what subs do you ladies recommend?
Suzanne - eek! on the phone thing. Scary that these things come back to haunt you after so long ... hope everything works out ok.
Stacey - enjoy your stay in the lap of luxury! I'll be thinking of you in the jacuzzi and out on the terrace with a cocktail ... (who said anything about work?!)
Emily - yay! post photos! I will just as soon as I can get my hands on a scanner ... I wonder if they have one here? I have a whole series of passport photos ... will see what I can do ...
Hellooooooooo and hugs to everyone I've missed, and anyone doubting, as I said, e-mail Kirsty and come meet up with us! And also, post photos!
lots of love,
Lolly

Lolly,
Cool about the Tae Kwan Do class... that sounds like fun. I'm sure you'll do great. About this hip-hop thing. I totally have rhythm. Really I do.... but there are lots of steps and I can do them when we go over them slowly, or even at tempo during a slower song. But once she puts on the faster music... I look absolutely hilarious. But I have so much fun laughing that I think I'll keep going. I figure sooner or later I'll get the hang of it.
And my suggestions for the subway sandwhiches: LOVE the buffalo chicken... although they don't have them at all the locations. Also, the roasted chicken w/ honey mustard sauce is SO good. And I also like the turkey and ham. I always tell them to load up on the green peppers (I love green peppers). ANd remember... the points calculated for the light sandwhiches are without mayo or cheese. but for 5-6 points for a sandwhich, I just love it!
I'm getting hungry and am just trying not to make my way past my admin's desk (the keeper of the gs cookies). I have to save points for dinner because I'm meeting a friend for dinner. I only have 13 points left for dinner... so I can't really use any before then. I'll go get some water and try and get my mind off the hunger.

Ahh!! My pic was too big, so I lost my whole post!!
Ok, I decided to combine my pics. So, the one on the left is from last fall when I was 138 (now 134), the one on the right is from fall 1998, when I was in the 160's (my highest was 170 - I will find one of those pics too!)
Ok, now, everyone else has to post their pics, I want to see what everyone looks like!!!!

I’m such a good little WW! I ate my salad for lunch and didn’t give in to going out and buying something. I even went to the bank which is right across from McDonald’s and I was OK! Woohoo. I can eat Subway for dinner and have a pre-meeting beer and I’ll be mid range!
Sarah: Thanks for the compliment! It’s good to know I sound successful b/c sometimes I sure don’t feel like it. Working my butt off right now is the sacrifice I have to make to be able reach my dreams. I know it will happen, it’s just a matter of when. At least my hubby is being really good about the whole thing. I know it’s not easy for him to not see me much. Good job on resisting the fries at the concert. Mmmmmmmmm, fries are yummy!
Lolly: I can imagine what they thought when you told them about the tiger in your room. Oh the mental picture is wonderfully funny! It’s the little things that mean the most and I think that’s the way it should be. I love most of them. I love roast beef (5pts), turkey (5pts), steak & cheese (8pts). They are so easy to fit in your day and so filling and yummy. That’s dinner for me tonight and I can’t wait. I swear I would post photo’s if I could figure out that dumb sizing thing
Sorry I didn’t respond to everyone. I’m feeling very tired and worn out. I haven’t had that Diet DP yet, will have to wait and take one with me to the training. To read the posts, I have to cut and paste into word b/c I can’t stay online from work. I’ve noticed that a lot of the time it will cut out huge sections. I apologize if I’m missed anything – it wasn’t intentional. I’ll have to experiment and see if I can come up with a solution. Only 45 mins of work left. Can’t wait!
